- 0:33Speaker 5: I'm in a good place. I gotta bob cratch, yeah, crash.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I hate when you look at me that this is
- 0:39Speaker 4: funny because mas me feel so bad about myself, but
- 0:41Speaker 4: you do. You have this fun at me? Like what
- 0:44Speaker 4: that's my kind of a person. Evan smells like outside.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you smell like the fall.
- 0:49Speaker 4: It's like if you smell like you just came in
- 0:51Speaker 4: from outdoors, like beach, like beach.
- 0:54Speaker 6: No.
- 0:56Speaker 5: Oh so, Evan, what did you see? Well, what would
- 0:59Speaker 5: you say? Was the move?
- 1:01Speaker 3: That's a little early fit?

- 1:13Speaker 3: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday. Here
- 1:17Speaker 3: at Jillette Stadium here for another edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:21Speaker 3: We're days away from a big tilt against the Houston
- 1:25Speaker 3: Texans and of course the debut, the premiere, the coming
- 1:30Speaker 3: out party. Well I don't know if it's a coming
- 1:32Speaker 3: out party yet, but hopefully, hopefully our first look at
- 1:36Speaker 3: Drake May as the starting quarterback of the New England
- 1:40Speaker 3: Patriots in a regular season game. So what's not to
- 1:44Speaker 3: be excited about?
- 1:45Speaker 4: That's what I said yesterday. How can I not be
- 1:47Speaker 4: excited the kid play?
- 1:48Speaker 3: And like I said, I am excited, but I'm also nervous.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I'm also anxious. I'm gonna be watching like like I said,
- 1:56Speaker 3: like he's my kid out there, and just hoping everything's okay.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yeah, just like walking around the media room today, you know,
- 2:05Speaker 4: we just heard from Alex Van Pelton, DeMarcus Covington, but
- 2:09Speaker 4: you know, just talking to like just I just I
- 2:11Speaker 4: just hope he doesn't get hurt, Like I just like
- 2:15Speaker 4: I just don't really understand that mindset. I know, like
- 2:18Speaker 4: I hope he doesn't get hurt too, But I hope
- 2:20Speaker 4: all the players don't get hurt. Unlike you who you
- 2:23Speaker 4: only hope Patriots don't get hurt. You want all the
- 2:25Speaker 4: other players. I don't want anyone to get hurt.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, it just feels like the season's been so
- 2:29Speaker 2: cursed already, so why are we continuing to put even
- 2:32Speaker 2: speaking into existence.
- 2:33Speaker 4: It's not a captain, so we probably should be all right. Yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 4: it seems like only bad things happen to our cat.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I'm anxious and nervous from a performance standpoint, I just
- 2:41Speaker 3: want him to do okay. And I know it's not
- 2:44Speaker 3: going to be perfect, and it's going to be far
- 2:45Speaker 3: from perfect, but I just want I want to come
- 2:48Speaker 3: out of this game saying he's gonna be okay.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And that's the thing. I think. The thing I'm most
- 2:53Speaker 2: nervous for is fans expectations. I'm worried they're inflated too high.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I think we don't know how to go through a
- 2:59Speaker 2: re build and we like what you're looking for is
- 3:02Speaker 2: like a couple good throws, a couple good plays, a
- 3:04Speaker 2: couple good decisions that give you like a glimpse of
- 3:07Speaker 2: hope that it's going to improve, and like if he
- 3:11Speaker 2: loses the game, you can still take a lot of
- 3:13Speaker 2: good out of that. Probably, So just I hope people
- 3:15Speaker 2: temper their expectations.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it was funny because you know a lot of
- 3:19Speaker 4: people have talked about those kinds of different things. You
- 3:22Speaker 4: see it like when training camp started, I'll be honest
- 3:26Speaker 4: and I was really high on Drake May coming into
- 3:28Speaker 4: training camp. But the first like week or so, I
- 3:31Speaker 4: was like, ooh, I don't see a lot. And then
- 3:33Speaker 4: all of a sudden, you know, sort of after that
- 3:36Speaker 4: joint practice with Philadelphia, it sort of started on the rise.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Remember Fred who played in the preseason game against the Eagles,
- 3:42Speaker 4: and from that point on he seemed to get better
- 3:44Speaker 4: every day, and that's when the stuff that Alex was
- 3:47Speaker 4: talking about started. It was like and like you didn't
- 3:50Speaker 4: have to see him light it up, but you said, Okay,
- 3:52Speaker 4: I see what they're all talking about. I see what
- 3:54Speaker 4: the scarding report, that throw, that move in the pocket
- 3:57Speaker 4: that you know, that decision.
- 3:59Speaker 3: You could start to see and forget about preseason. That
- 4:02Speaker 3: joint practice against the Eagles was probably the closest thing
- 4:05Speaker 3: to what he's going to see in a real game
- 4:08Speaker 3: against the top flight.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Let's hope it looks a lot better than no.
- 4:11Speaker 3: No, But I'm talking about in terms of quality pass
- 4:14Speaker 3: rushers who are out there to get you at full speed.
- 4:19Speaker 3: That was probably the biggest learning experience he's had all
- 4:23Speaker 3: since he's been here.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I agree, I agree, And but like to
- 4:27Speaker 4: Alex's point, like I don't need him to go out
- 4:29Speaker 4: and put up forty five points, but I want to
- 4:32Speaker 4: see some things that I was told about, the things
- 4:35Speaker 4: that I sort of watched, you know, in in on
- 4:38Speaker 4: tape and looking at his highlights. I want to see
- 4:41Speaker 4: some of those plays. I don't know how many of them,
- 4:43Speaker 4: but I want to see signs of those.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So it's Paul, it's me, it's Alex. Evan will be here,
- 4:47Speaker 3: mich will be here. Jules is in the booth being
- 4:51Speaker 3: backed up by Matt. She's learning the board, and out
- 4:54Speaker 3: here comes Mike, Mike from.
- 4:57Speaker 4: The did you catch on the This might get settled, Freddy,
- 5:01Speaker 4: did you did you catch Evan? And I give Hi
- 5:03Speaker 4: Mike a hard time about his tempo.
- 5:06Speaker 3: And emails in order of the emails that you were
- 5:10Speaker 3: you were too quick on the drum mood?
- 5:12Speaker 4: Yes, he jumped the gun on the mood. I did
- 5:15Speaker 4: he didn't.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I was out of toy.
- 5:18Speaker 10: I didn't like if I let's it marinate for a minute,
- 5:20Speaker 10: and then he's like, so what was the you.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Know, and I just I was like, what's the mood?
- 5:23Speaker 3: There's no rush.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I just I just looked like a little early for that.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Well, the show was running out and I felt like
- 5:28Speaker 5: we had Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Andre from New Jersey said he threw everything out of whack, like.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Everything, damn you Andre from New Jersey.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Yeah, so it was not wrong.
- 5:37Speaker 5: No, it was fun.
- 5:37Speaker 10: Though. We had a little little soldier sash of the
- 5:39Speaker 10: PP and the Deuce riding riding strong.
- 5:41Speaker 4: That's the Deuce took over the last hour of the show.
- 5:44Speaker 4: We brought it home coold Talk.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Of course, we talked some Bledsoe, some ninety three Patriots,
- 5:48Speaker 5: you know.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what That's what Mike shamed me for knowing
- 5:50Speaker 4: William Robertson Bob Cratch.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Bob Cratch with the glasses that were like this stick.
- 5:57Speaker 3: It's a good thing he played center because like you
- 5:59Speaker 3: couldn't see, like, you know, two inches in front of himself.
- 6:03Speaker 5: That's all you need when he was a center.
- 6:04Speaker 4: It's before me.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't remember Bob Cratch.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Oh I I obviously I remember when I talked about him,
- 6:10Speaker 4: but I didn't cover those teams. So I don't remember
- 6:12Speaker 4: the cratching.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so just uh yeah, go ahead.
- 6:16Speaker 10: Well I wasn't in the locker room. Actually I was
- 6:18Speaker 10: in the REVS locker room, because that's the new uh,
- 6:20Speaker 10: that's the new locker room.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But normal. Well let's talk about this a little bit.
- 6:24Speaker 3: The NFLPA has been pushing to get cameras or really
- 6:29Speaker 3: anyone out of the locker room, and I think they
- 6:31Speaker 3: came up with a compromise. And so what is it exactly?
- 6:34Speaker 10: So, yeah, they've set up in the REVS locker room
- 6:36Speaker 10: across the hall. And as I was walking over, they
- 6:38Speaker 10: had a little troop of people walking over with h
- 6:41Speaker 10: I guess it was Tray Jacobs and then Jacoby Brissett.
- 6:43Speaker 10: And so they have all the cameras set up. They've
- 6:45Speaker 10: got a backdrop, so instead of seeing guys in front
- 6:47Speaker 10: of their lockers, you're now going to see guys in
- 6:49Speaker 10: front of a backdrop. And I mean, the unfortunate part
- 6:52Speaker 10: I feel is uh, actually, no, you know what, it's
- 6:54Speaker 10: it's still okay because people can still.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Go into the locker room. There's just no cameras in
- 6:57Speaker 5: there anymore.
- 6:58Speaker 10: So people are still going into the locker room, and
- 7:00Speaker 10: I think meandering and chatting. But for the big on
- 7:03Speaker 10: camera scrums that you know we have to cover, they.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Walk across the hall.
- 7:07Speaker 3: So so so you can get all the players are
- 7:11Speaker 3: in the locker room, so you can get to any
- 7:13Speaker 3: player you want. And then but if you want to
- 7:16Speaker 3: shoot video, if you want to shoot video of them,
- 7:17Speaker 3: you have to then ask, hey, can you come across
- 7:20Speaker 3: the hall.
- 7:20Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean in the past, it used to be
- 7:22Speaker 10: a little more organic, like all of a sudden you'd
- 7:23Speaker 10: see like all the cameramen like start to walk one direction,
- 7:26Speaker 10: and everyone was like, oh, it's happening, you know, and
- 7:27Speaker 10: you start to run. So now it was the same
- 7:30Speaker 10: kind of thing, except you're all going across the hall
- 7:32Speaker 10: and do another room. And but that my set up,
- 7:34Speaker 10: and you know, they had a little MIC's stand and stuff.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So yeah, see to me, they fixed it halfway.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, what else you're looking for?
- 7:41Speaker 3: I think I don't think anyone should go in the
- 7:43Speaker 3: locker room period, not even in there. Yeah. I think
- 7:45Speaker 3: there should be a place, and you know, whether it's
- 7:48Speaker 3: the Reds locker room or in other places some other
- 7:50Speaker 3: but there should be a place where all the players
- 7:52Speaker 3: are mandated to have to go to. So they're all there,
- 7:56Speaker 3: and you can all get to them with your cameras
- 7:58Speaker 3: and your writers, but it's not in the locker room.
- 8:01Speaker 3: The locker room should be a sacred place. It should
- 8:03Speaker 3: be a safe space for them where they don't have
- 8:05Speaker 3: to worry about what's in the locker or you know,
- 8:08Speaker 3: getting photographed half nude or whatever. All those interviews should
- 8:13Speaker 3: be mandated, but should be in a different place. And
- 8:15Speaker 3: I've said that for years.
- 8:16Speaker 10: Yeah, well, I think this is a pretty good compromise though, Fred, Like,
- 8:18Speaker 10: I mean, they're still going to be able to talk
- 8:20Speaker 10: in the locker room that there's just no video allowed
- 8:22Speaker 10: in there. So if you want to go and get
- 8:23Speaker 10: you know, audio for a story and an interview with
- 8:25Speaker 10: guy on your own, you can still do that. It's
- 8:27Speaker 10: just you're not allowed to bring all the TV cameras
- 8:29Speaker 10: in and you know, get all the shots.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I agree with Mike, Fred because and I understand what
- 8:32Speaker 4: your point is, and you and I have been together
- 8:34Speaker 4: on this from the start, because neither one of us
- 8:36Speaker 4: is ever particularly enjoyed having to go into the locker room.
- 8:40Speaker 4: But I do think it might be easier for the
- 8:43Speaker 4: players to do it like this too, because it's less intrusive,
- 8:47Speaker 4: so they have a little bit more privacy, but they're
- 8:49Speaker 4: also you know, it's a forty five minute block out
- 8:52Speaker 4: of their day where they're getting ready for practice. They're
- 8:55Speaker 4: you know, preparing for whatever. And if you say now
- 8:59Speaker 4: you have to go in another room, that's forty five minutes.
- 9:01Speaker 4: They're not doing something else, I guess, you know, so
- 9:05Speaker 4: they kind of eliminate your you know, what you have
- 9:08Speaker 4: in your lockero and they're getting there taking pictures of
- 9:11Speaker 4: and things like that, and obviously being half naked when
- 9:14Speaker 4: they're getting photographed, which happens all the time. Yeah, that's
- 9:17Speaker 4: that's out because cameras are out. And my guess is
- 9:21Speaker 4: they'll be pretty vigilant with that. If anybody's like trying
- 9:23Speaker 4: to get a phone out or something like that, that's
- 9:26Speaker 4: you lose your credential for that stuff, I would imagine.
- 9:29Speaker 4: But you can still you can still talk, Yeah, while
- 9:32Speaker 4: you're getting ready and dressed, and you don't have to say, well,
- 9:36Speaker 4: Jacoby Brissett, everybody wants to talk to you, you have to
- 9:38Speaker 4: go over in that room for twenty minutes and yeah, yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 4: you can just go about your day.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it real quick.
- 9:43Speaker 10: It was quick, and like I said, Yakobe did talk,
- 9:45Speaker 10: and I mean it seemed, you know, a little down
- 9:47Speaker 10: as you would expect, but uh said, you know, Drake,
- 9:50Speaker 10: Drake came out to me, was like, are you okay?
- 9:51Speaker 10: And he was like, you know, I really appreciate it's
- 9:53Speaker 10: like you just worry about you. But you know, he said,
- 9:56Speaker 10: just how much he likes Drake, and you know that
- 9:58Speaker 10: Drake's been really respectful for this whole process and it
- 10:00Speaker 10: seems like he you know, it seems like they've genuinely
- 10:03Speaker 10: developed the bond and they seem to care about each other.
- 10:06Speaker 10: So not an easy thing for Jacoby Brissett. He said,
- 10:08Speaker 10: you know, look, I've been through hard things before. I'm
- 10:10Speaker 10: sure he'll be through more hard things again. But you
- 10:13Speaker 10: know it's a it's disappointing, you know, and he can't
- 10:15Speaker 10: really point a finger, and I mean you got to asked,
- 10:18Speaker 10: you know, do you feel like you're being scapegoaded?
- 10:20Speaker 5: And you know, he wouldn't really go there with any
- 10:21Speaker 5: of that stuff.
- 10:22Speaker 10: So I think he's, you know, handling it just like
- 10:24Speaker 10: he handled all these games that we've seen like a
- 10:26Speaker 10: consummate professional. And he took the hits and he kept
- 10:28Speaker 10: coming back even in those interviews, so you know, a
- 10:31Speaker 10: lot of respect for him, and you know just how
- 10:33Speaker 10: he handled it.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I wouldn't expect anything different.
- 10:35Speaker 3: No, And I think that's why he was the perfect
- 10:38Speaker 3: person to bring in for this role. I mean, this
- 10:41Speaker 3: was the plan. You know, you talk about the plan.
- 10:43Speaker 3: The plan was for Jacoby to come in keep the
- 10:45Speaker 3: seat warm until Drake May was ready. You need a
- 10:48Speaker 3: specific type of veteran to do that, because yeah, it
- 10:51Speaker 3: was definitely you know, they were dead set on having
- 10:54Speaker 3: a veteran, which I agree with. And you can't have
- 10:57Speaker 3: a guy come in like let's say, a car who No,
- 11:01Speaker 3: I want to keep playing. I want to keep I
- 11:03Speaker 3: want to start, I don't I don't want to lose
- 11:05Speaker 3: this job. The person had to be resigned to the
- 11:08Speaker 3: fact that, yeah, they just picked this guy. Third. Overall,
- 11:10Speaker 3: he's going to play eventually. Yeah, you know, no matter
- 11:13Speaker 3: what I do, he's going to play eventually.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 10: One of the cool things Jacoby pointed out was that
- 11:17Speaker 10: his first start also came against the Texans, and he
- 11:19Speaker 10: said that they were actually playing it on I guess
- 11:21Speaker 10: one of the TV's in the training room today. And
- 11:23Speaker 10: you know, Dan Roach has to be what was it
- 11:25Speaker 10: like you know that Thursday night foot Thursday night football,
- 11:28Speaker 10: and he said, you know, I had no facial hair,
- 11:30Speaker 10: just kind of the wide eyed kid. And I think
- 11:32Speaker 10: Dan falled up, said didn't you give the game ball
- 11:34Speaker 10: to back to Bill? And He's like, yeah, I wish
- 11:36Speaker 10: I had kept it though, So you know, he's he's
- 11:38Speaker 10: still got a little bit of sense of humor about it,
- 11:40Speaker 10: and that seems like he's, you know, handling it as
- 11:42Speaker 10: well as you could expect anybody to.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Yeah, that was one of those It was rare in
- 11:47Speaker 4: those times where you know that they weren't expected to win,
- 11:50Speaker 4: you know, they actually weren't expected to win, not like
- 11:53Speaker 4: they fabricated it. That was one they weren't expected to win,
- 11:56Speaker 4: and then they win I think twenty seven.
- 11:57Speaker 10: Nothing happened a couple of times over that twenty year
- 11:59Speaker 10: round where all of a sudden you put Belichick to like
- 12:01Speaker 10: the test as a coach. You know, it's just a
- 12:02Speaker 10: really tough personnel situation. I mean, I'm struggling to think
- 12:05Speaker 10: of another.
- 12:05Speaker 4: One off the time of the team fumbles like three
- 12:07Speaker 4: kick offs, well, I mean, I.
- 12:08Speaker 10: Know, I mean, just you know, it's interesting. It was
- 12:10Speaker 10: unbelievable that night how they approached the game. I mean
- 12:13Speaker 10: not in regardless of how the game involved. It just
- 12:15Speaker 10: you know when the coach gets the challenge where you
- 12:17Speaker 10: got to get a rookie quarterback ready to play on
- 12:19Speaker 10: a short week, and I mean he's the third string
- 12:22Speaker 10: so you really hadn't planned that.
- 12:23Speaker 5: But you know those are always tough.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Coach at your point, like you know, Bill and Josh
- 12:28Speaker 4: dial up that little like quarterback keep was like a
- 12:32Speaker 4: high school play and he ran like thirty outs for
- 12:34Speaker 4: a touchdown.
- 12:35Speaker 5: It's awesome.
- 12:35Speaker 4: It was an awesome night. Then they got shot out
- 12:37Speaker 4: the next week. It's like, what are we doing the
- 12:40Speaker 4: next week?
- 12:40Speaker 5: That was a Buffalo oh right right, yeah, yeah, thet
- 12:44Speaker 5: fight the game, I remember that. I don't remember Jakobe
- 12:48Speaker 5: running off the field.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Somebody's oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 5: I think Malcolm Mitchell got in the middle of God,
- 12:53Speaker 5: I do remember now, remember that.
- 12:55Speaker 3: It wasn't that somebody running past our bench and like
- 12:58Speaker 3: getting to close.
- 13:00Speaker 5: I think, yeah, the Bills were chirping and Jacobe came
- 13:02Speaker 5: running over.
- 13:03Speaker 4: I think we ran in the wrong spot.
- 13:04Speaker 3: We ran in the wrong I'm not don't think it
- 13:07Speaker 3: was always the other thing. It's always the.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Other I think sometimes we did that that stuff on purpose, right,
- 13:13Speaker 4: got a rough buffalo, We were in Buffalo's head.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 4: I think some of that stuff was done intentionally. I know,
- 13:20Speaker 4: like they did something to McDermott and when you that's
- 13:23Speaker 4: I think that's when you branded them Rara.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Mcder your guy did that.
- 13:28Speaker 4: No, but you remember when they.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Know you're and I was the first guy to call
- 13:31Speaker 3: him that.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Oh who's my guy? Feler, Oh really, you stole something
- 13:35Speaker 4: from Felder? Wow?
- 13:36Speaker 3: No, he didn't do the ra I did that, but
- 13:39Speaker 3: that's what it stands for.
- 13:40Speaker 11: It was.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Yeah, Knaff was pretty, that was yours, that's mine. Yeah,
- 13:44Speaker 4: naf was uh Peyton Manning at the end when he
- 13:48Speaker 4: after he had all the surgeries and stuff. Knapf was
- 13:52Speaker 4: noodle armed penis head.
- 13:56Speaker 5: Oh photo, because he looks like.
- 14:02Speaker 3: He's got that big forehead.
- 14:04Speaker 4: That was all Fred.
- 14:05Speaker 3: But now we all love Peyton Manning. He's no longer
- 14:08Speaker 3: our enemy. He's he's America's sweetheart. Yeah, I mean the
- 14:13Speaker 3: whole Manning family. And now arch is coming up. Yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 4: I just think Peyton and Eli do a good job
- 14:20Speaker 4: of balancing sort of nonsense with self deprecation. But it's
- 14:26Speaker 4: not over the top like oh, you know, like I saw.
- 14:28Speaker 8: It, but the guys that you want to have a beer, like,
- 14:32Speaker 8: they're really good business people obviously, but they don't take
- 14:35Speaker 8: themselves that seriously on camera, which is it's it's it
- 14:39Speaker 8: is nice.
- 14:39Speaker 3: It's nice them.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Like making fun of Billy the other day about Patricia
- 14:43Speaker 4: with a pencil and eliminated place.
- 14:48Speaker 3: That's good. That's good. Well, by the way, Uh, this
- 14:54Speaker 3: Hernandez thing, what is it Hulu f x it. I
- 15:00Speaker 3: haven't been watching it, but unreal love the latest clip
- 15:06Speaker 3: when he first meets Gronk. Whoever's playing Gronk has the laugh.
- 15:12Speaker 9: But he keeps doing it so randomly it almost seems
- 15:14Speaker 9: like he's I don't know, autistic.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but Gronk kind of does that too, like hell
- 15:19Speaker 2: randomly burst out laughing at himself mid sentence when it
- 15:21Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it's so funny.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I might have to watch this whole fact.
- 15:25Speaker 4: I mean the clip that I saw this week, Like
- 15:32Speaker 4: I couldn't get through more than ten seconds.
- 15:33Speaker 3: That that was like, what are they doing?
- 15:36Speaker 4: That is never?
- 15:37Speaker 5: I mean, I just I think it's hilarious.
- 15:38Speaker 2: The guy, I mean, the mannerisms are there and the
- 15:42Speaker 2: grunting is there.
- 15:44Speaker 4: That's a draft.
- 15:45Speaker 2: That guy put in a lot of work to study Bill.
- 15:48Speaker 2: But then I saw Edelman's podcast the clip from that
- 15:51Speaker 2: making fun of like they went so far with Bill's character,
- 15:55Speaker 2: but like the actual football jargon coming out of his
- 15:57Speaker 2: mouth is like terrible. He's like talking about sets. They
- 16:01Speaker 2: didn't run, Yeah they didn't even run.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Yeah wow, nobody, Come on, who cares about that? You know?
- 16:11Speaker 4: I think what Bill is saying is we're going to
- 16:13Speaker 4: use these two tight ends and we can use one
- 16:14Speaker 4: of them as a full back, Like, yeah, they didn't
- 16:16Speaker 4: have a fullback, but Hernandez is kind of a full back.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I would actually, I would actually as the kids, I
- 16:23Speaker 4: clapped back at.
- 16:24Speaker 2: The actor playing mister Craft is like criminal, it's criminal.
- 16:29Speaker 9: Read the same thing with Aaron Hernandez, though, why do
- 16:31Speaker 9: they have the short guy playing Aaron.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Fred showed us a clip of that whole draft thing,
- 16:35Speaker 4: and yeah, Robert the Robert is awful. You know, Bob
- 16:40Speaker 4: call it in. But Bill, I agree with Alex. I
- 16:45Speaker 4: think the guy that's playing Bill nailed it.
- 16:49Speaker 3: There.
- 16:50Speaker 10: The actress named Norbert Leo, but I believe.
- 16:52Speaker 3: But do you really think Bill ever stood in his
- 16:54Speaker 3: office playing.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Well with the pencil I saw for ten seconds.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Bon Jovi went on Edelman's podcast, and I guess like
- 17:04Speaker 2: the band got Bill a drum set and he was
- 17:07Speaker 2: actually pretty good at it.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Oh, hasn't he drummed it something before?
- 17:10Speaker 2: The bon Jovi episode of Edelman's podcast is worth listening to.
- 17:13Speaker 2: There's some really fun Bill Laura in there. But yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 2: I guess like he's a big drummer. I don't know
- 17:18Speaker 2: if you Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't doubt that he has blasted bon Jovi.
- 17:23Speaker 9: October, bon Jovi reveals that Bill Belichick is a closet drummer.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Nothing would surprise me with Bill Belichick anymore.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't be stunned if Bill had bon Jovi
- 17:34Speaker 4: playing in his office at times. I just don't think
- 17:37Speaker 4: it was.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Like that himself pumped out right.
- 17:39Speaker 4: No, right, they had him doing the rock and roll like,
- 17:43Speaker 4: That's what I would say that that was probably a
- 17:45Speaker 4: little bit too much.
- 17:46Speaker 10: The whistle to me, like open the whistle drawer, and
- 17:48Speaker 10: I was waiting for like a you know, a Bill
- 17:50Speaker 10: whistle twirl like that's another one.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But I think they must be obviously they're doing this
- 17:55Speaker 3: intentionally because they know we're going to talk about it. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 3: you know, I don't know.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I don't give you watch the thing now.
- 18:03Speaker 9: I watched every episode that airs. It is weekly, every
- 18:05Speaker 9: Wednesday it airs.
- 18:06Speaker 5: How many episodes are there?
- 18:07Speaker 9: Ten episodes? Episode five just.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Aired and each one an hour or how long?
- 18:11Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 18:11Speaker 9: About forty five to fifty three minutes?
- 18:13Speaker 3: Yeah? Wow, okay, Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to
- 18:16Speaker 3: watch it.
- 18:17Speaker 10: I mean I look forward and you know what you do, Fred,
- 18:19Speaker 10: you wait till it's all out.
- 18:20Speaker 5: And then you can inge, you know.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I just let your guys.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Maybe i'll download. I can download the episodes right, Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 3: there're available one whom I watch it on the window,
- 18:30Speaker 3: watching it on Monday. I watched the Vince McMahon on
- 18:32Speaker 3: the way to uh West Coast. So I'll watch this.
- 18:36Speaker 9: It's on a Hulu, Fred, huh, Hulu. That's where you
- 18:38Speaker 9: can stream it.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Hulu if you're breaking up.
- 18:41Speaker 9: Sorry, my Hulu is where it's on.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Oh it's not. I don't have the Hulu.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Hulu.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I don't have to have the Hula.
- 18:47Speaker 4: You don't know from the Hulu.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Maybe I'll give you my Hulufu London. Yeah, maybe I'll
- 18:52Speaker 3: do one of those trials and then cancel it or
- 18:54Speaker 3: something there.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I'll figure it out, do like a virtual credit card
- 18:58Speaker 2: and then cancel the virtual credit cards so they can't
- 19:00Speaker 2: rebill you. That's what I do. Listen, there's a thing
- 19:04Speaker 2: now restaurants require like outrageous like it's not a deposit,
- 19:09Speaker 2: but they charge cancelation fees and it's crazy, like yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 2: like hundreds of dollars if you cancel a reservation.
- 19:16Speaker 3: So if you do a virtual card, what it's a
- 19:18Speaker 3: virtual card.
- 19:19Speaker 2: A lot of credit card companies let you create like
- 19:21Speaker 2: a virtual card now that can only be used for
- 19:24Speaker 2: in one like point of sale system so like and.
- 19:28Speaker 3: You have to have a certain amount on it or something.
- 19:30Speaker 2: No, it's just like a virtual credit card, but they
- 19:33Speaker 2: create a new number for you so you can use
- 19:36Speaker 2: it maybe on like like I use one for ticket Master. Yeah,
- 19:40Speaker 2: and it can only be used for ticket Master. I
- 19:43Speaker 2: don't know what it's actually for, but I like it.
- 19:45Speaker 2: If I'm like online shopping, and I don't.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Get protect yourself. If let's say you use this virtual
- 19:51Speaker 3: card for the restaurant, yeah, and then you cancel it,
- 19:54Speaker 3: how do you protect yourself from them charging that virtual card?
- 19:57Speaker 3: A lot of mind.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Well, if you delete the virtual card, it can get charged.
- 20:00Speaker 3: And there's so you have to done. You have to
- 20:02Speaker 3: when you.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Make the reservation, you delete the virtual card, and then
- 20:06Speaker 2: whoever your credit card company is just doesn't let it
- 20:09Speaker 2: go through when they go to five days later, you
- 20:11Speaker 2: don't show up to your reservation.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Regulations of the world.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Gen Royal beat the whole thing, that cancel restaurant though, Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 4: I'll have to take your word for it because I'll
- 20:28Speaker 4: never go there again.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Obstinate Paul.
- 20:32Speaker 4: That's awful what she did for those people, like banning
- 20:35Speaker 4: people because of what Alex is talking about people not
- 20:38Speaker 4: showing up for a reservation. And oh I had like
- 20:40Speaker 4: being charged outrageous amounts of money, and.
- 20:42Speaker 2: The cancelation fees are very extra well, I think, I
- 20:45Speaker 2: think as it's a courtesy.
- 20:46Speaker 3: If you make a reservation and you're not going to
- 20:48Speaker 3: show up, you should call in candy. They did, oh
- 20:51Speaker 3: and they still charge.
- 20:53Speaker 4: And it was some kind of Now I don't know
- 20:55Speaker 4: if it's true, because never you know me, I never
- 20:58Speaker 4: believed that crap that I read. But suposedly there was
- 21:00Speaker 4: like a significant illness and so to why they couldn't that's.
- 21:04Speaker 2: What he said, I went down this deep dive.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Why am I said, because.
- 21:10Speaker 2: It was like just unfolding on social media. It was
- 21:13Speaker 2: so funny. I was so entertaining. But he said there
- 21:15Speaker 2: was a medical emergency. But she was able to see
- 21:19Speaker 2: what he physically wrote into his credit card company of
- 21:22Speaker 2: why he was disputing the charge, and it was that
- 21:25Speaker 2: like their train was late and they weren't going to
- 21:28Speaker 2: make it to the city.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Well, so what.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I agree.
- 21:31Speaker 4: I don't always believe that.
- 21:34Speaker 3: I don't think the restaurant should care why you're canceling.
- 21:36Speaker 3: If the person cancels.
- 21:37Speaker 4: The supposedly they did, right, they tried to cancel it,
- 21:40Speaker 4: isn't that right.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I don't remember exactly the scenario. Her restaurant's a little
- 21:44Speaker 2: different too, because it's a prefixed menu, so it's like
- 21:48Speaker 2: they only sell a certain amount of seats per night.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It's upfront transparent. If you make a reservation at this
- 21:58Speaker 3: place and we're going to charge you, as long as
- 22:00Speaker 3: it's upfront and transparent, fine.
- 22:03Speaker 4: So I you know, personally, I would never do it
- 22:06Speaker 4: because I can't guarantee you that I can't break the reservation. Yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 4: you can take the reservation, you just can't keep.
- 22:12Speaker 2: So now people in New York City are selling reservations too.
- 22:14Speaker 2: They're reserving all these.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Things and they're selling become a commodity.
- 22:18Speaker 2: You can't get a reservation or a tea time like
- 22:21Speaker 2: anywhere outside of New York.
- 22:22Speaker 3: So that's going to become a cottage industry.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You make all these reservations are now the middle managers.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And the people like this screw.
- 22:33Speaker 2: It's really it started with golf tea times around Manhattan
- 22:37Speaker 2: during the pandemic. They're getting sweeped up and sold. And
- 22:40Speaker 2: then these middle companies are or like these middle people,
- 22:44Speaker 2: they're not even always companies are profiting off of just
- 22:47Speaker 2: being the middleman selling these tea times. It's ridiculous.
- 22:49Speaker 4: I got to pay a service fee like Taylor Swift tickets.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, shameful.
- 22:55Speaker 10: Oh so Drake Mary, Yeah, Drake May starting. Yeah, Paul,
- 22:59Speaker 10: I had a question for you. You mentioned you liked
- 23:01Speaker 10: response from Alex van Pelt today.
- 23:02Speaker 4: I wanted to hear you. I absolutely remember telling you
- 23:05Speaker 4: I love that answer, but I'm going to need you
- 23:06Speaker 4: to fill me in as to why.
- 23:08Speaker 10: The situation on the okay second and two on the
- 23:11Speaker 10: goal line last.
- 23:12Speaker 4: So, I just like the fact that so now You
- 23:15Speaker 4: guys know I would have run the balls. You know
- 23:17Speaker 4: that this is the this is the sequence at the
- 23:19Speaker 4: end of the half we talked about on Tuesday. They
- 23:22Speaker 4: get eight yards. The goal should have been to make
- 23:24Speaker 4: sure that you get a first down and then you're
- 23:26Speaker 4: going to end the possession. That this possession is going
- 23:28Speaker 4: to end the half with the ball. They chose to
- 23:31Speaker 4: take a shot there. That's like how offense has played.
- 23:35Speaker 4: You know, like we're going to get the first down there.
- 23:38Speaker 4: If we don't take a shot and it's not there
- 23:40Speaker 4: and it's third and two, we're going to get the
- 23:41Speaker 4: first down. Now, that's where I would say I highly
- 23:44Speaker 4: question the third down call even more so. But what
- 23:46Speaker 4: I really liked about his answer was, again I disagreed
- 23:49Speaker 4: with it. I just I would have gotten the first
- 23:51Speaker 4: down any way I could. But he says, you know,
- 23:54Speaker 4: we're dialoding up a shot there to see if we
- 23:56Speaker 4: can get something going. We hadn't really done a lot
- 23:58Speaker 4: of downfield passing this year, and he said we didn't
- 24:02Speaker 4: win on the route, which I liked because it's open
- 24:07Speaker 4: season on berset. And then he came back and said,
- 24:09Speaker 4: on third down, we had an opportunity to get the
- 24:12Speaker 4: first down and we didn't go there. So he puts
- 24:14Speaker 4: that a little bit more on Brisett too, and he,
- 24:17Speaker 4: by the way, killed himself with second guessing the play calls.
- 24:21Speaker 4: So in one answer, he said, it's me, it's the receivers,
- 24:26Speaker 4: and it's the quarterback. No, I'm being serious, like sort
- 24:31Speaker 4: of illustrating this is not a simple like, well, if
- 24:35Speaker 4: we can just fix X, Like there's a lot of
- 24:37Speaker 4: things wrong with the offense. That's what I liked about
- 24:40Speaker 4: his answer, like, this is complicated, you know, and I've
- 24:43Speaker 4: made mistakes. And he actually then went back and said,
- 24:47Speaker 4: I'm still killing myself over some of the decisions from
- 24:49Speaker 4: the Jets game that he made as a play caller,
- 24:52Speaker 4: So he's not absolving himself. That's what I liked, you know,
- 24:55Speaker 4: sort of acknowledging that we could do this better. I
- 24:59Speaker 4: can do this better, and as a whole, we have
- 25:01Speaker 4: to do this all better. That's what I liked about
- 25:03Speaker 4: the answer, you know what I mean, Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 5: No, I understand that it's just so surprised.
- 25:06Speaker 10: I mean, I thought it was a good answer to
- 25:08Speaker 10: but here're sometimes a tough nut to crack, and you're like,
- 25:10Speaker 10: I like that answer.
- 25:11Speaker 4: I was just curious well as opposed to you know,
- 25:13Speaker 4: the defense, are coordinator telling me about two for eleven
- 25:17Speaker 4: on third down and ignoring everything else that happened wrong
- 25:19Speaker 4: in the game. You know we held into two for
- 25:22Speaker 4: eleven on third down. Well, that's great. That's because they
- 25:24Speaker 4: didn't need their downs a lot to get points because
- 25:27Speaker 4: their drives were all long. You know, if they were
- 25:30Speaker 4: if it was two for eleven on third down, you
- 25:32Speaker 4: forced five three and outs, I'd be, Oh, that's good defense. Yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 4: but there were hardly any third now, especially on that one.
- 25:38Speaker 10: I think I think after the on that game winning drive,
- 25:40Speaker 10: I think after the penalty, I don't think they had
- 25:42Speaker 10: another third down run.
- 25:45Speaker 5: Into the end zone. Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, So let's talk about this game. I don't know
- 25:48Speaker 3: how much in depth you got on it yesterday, but
- 25:53Speaker 3: Houston coming in obviously.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Covered all that, did you. No, No, we did not.
- 26:01Speaker 3: But you know, we're all focused on the defense because
- 26:05Speaker 3: it's Drake May's first game and they've got a top
- 26:07Speaker 3: five defense pretty much across the board. But what are
- 26:11Speaker 3: we thinking about c J. Stroud in the offense? Uh,
- 26:15Speaker 3: their number one receiver is going to be out, so
- 26:18Speaker 3: that's that's a help. But do you think, you know,
- 26:21Speaker 3: sometimes teams match up well, even bad teams match up
- 26:25Speaker 3: with better teams. Is this an offense that you think,
- 26:29Speaker 3: even with Juwan Bentley out and everybody, that we can
- 26:32Speaker 3: possibly match up well with I.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Think I don't think it's crazy.
- 26:35Speaker 10: I mean, with with Collins out, I think that, you know,
- 26:37Speaker 10: it's a huge piece. And you would think that if
- 26:40Speaker 10: Christian Gonzalez is able to kind of stick with Stefan
- 26:42Speaker 10: Diggs and maybe limit his production. Tanked Delsman kind of
- 26:46Speaker 10: disappointing coming off the knee injury. They haven't run the
- 26:48Speaker 10: ball great. So I think you could see, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 10: a little formula there if the Patriots are able to
- 26:53Speaker 10: take advantage of a subpar run game, you know, without
- 26:55Speaker 10: Joe Mixon and Gonzalez takes away digs and you know,
- 26:58Speaker 10: and and so I.
- 27:00Speaker 3: I haven't watched a lot of Houston Texans games. I
- 27:02Speaker 3: see the highlights of Stroud, But overall, is he a
- 27:06Speaker 3: guy that you have to worry about getting out of
- 27:08Speaker 3: the pocket and extending plays and burning you that way?
- 27:11Speaker 4: I mean, he can, I don't think that's what he
- 27:13Speaker 4: necessarily wants to do. He's not He's mobile, but not
- 27:16Speaker 4: a huge runner, but yeah, he can get out of
- 27:20Speaker 4: the pocket and do things. They had a cast of
- 27:22Speaker 4: thousands that didn't practice yesterday, Houston, So I don't know
- 27:25Speaker 4: if these guys are all hurt. They looking past us obviously.
- 27:29Speaker 4: I know Mixing is hurt.
- 27:31Speaker 5: But was tunsl on that too, Yeah, yeah.
- 27:34Speaker 4: I have I can. I can give you sort of
- 27:37Speaker 4: a little bit of rundown. This isn't even everybody, I
- 27:41Speaker 4: don't think, because for whatever reason I can no longer
- 27:43Speaker 4: print anything anymore. But Derek Barnett, Kenyan Green, Jay Hansen,
- 27:49Speaker 4: Titus Howard, Kamari Lassater, Joe Mixon, Laramie Tunzel, Jimmy Wood,
- 27:53Speaker 4: Robert Woods, all those guys didn't practice, Bobby Trees, Bobby Trees.
- 27:58Speaker 4: So to me, mix into its important because if you
- 28:00Speaker 4: lose Nico Collins and Mixing, that's your number one running back,
- 28:03Speaker 4: your number one receiver. I think that makes the job
- 28:06Speaker 4: a lot easier. Now they still have like, if not
- 28:09Speaker 4: the number one ranked, it's in the top three ranked
- 28:11Speaker 4: passing game. Yeah, they haven't run the ball since Mixing
- 28:14Speaker 4: got hurt. So you know, the other team's best running
- 28:19Speaker 4: back got hurt last week too. When you get one
- 28:21Speaker 4: hundred and ninety three rushing yards. So I want to
- 28:22Speaker 4: hesitate to say in the running game shouldn't be a problem, right.
- 28:25Speaker 11: But.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Houston struggles to protect Stroud. I think you got to
- 28:30Speaker 4: try to get after him a little bit. Yeah, I
- 28:33Speaker 4: mean that's back fourteen times.
- 28:34Speaker 10: Yeah, it's huge, huge. I mean I did my players
- 28:37Speaker 10: to watch. I threw you know, Uce in there of
- 28:38Speaker 10: just you know had I mean he's had a little
- 28:40Speaker 10: bit more production last few games. I mean, I don't
- 28:42Speaker 10: think it's been overwhelming. He's kind of been not reduced,
- 28:45Speaker 10: but he's returning more to his general spot as a
- 28:48Speaker 10: passing down rusher. So I just you think you're going
- 28:50Speaker 10: to get some some juice from ke on winning the inside.
- 28:52Speaker 10: Can you get a little bit from Uch? And I'm
- 28:55Speaker 10: really interested about Laramie Tunsel because his name came up
- 28:58Speaker 10: a lot today with DeMarcus coving To. I think he
- 29:01Speaker 10: said he knows them personally, so he had a lot
- 29:03Speaker 10: of nice things to say about Larrmy Tunsil.
- 29:05Speaker 5: So yeah, we'll see if he's able to.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of penalties too for that group. I
- 29:08Speaker 4: know in the game that they played in Minnesota was
- 29:12Speaker 4: a real problem. Now Minnesota's defense has given everyone problems
- 29:16Speaker 4: so far. So yeah, I mean I think I think
- 29:21Speaker 4: it's a really good offense they're facing. This will be there.
- 29:23Speaker 4: I think they're you know, a significant test because you know,
- 29:27Speaker 4: you know that there's always asterisks like San Francisco, you know,
- 29:32Speaker 4: had that there guys that were hurt. They have Nico
- 29:35Speaker 4: Collins and Joe Mixon are hurt. But this is this
- 29:37Speaker 4: is a good offense. I don't think it's a great
- 29:39Speaker 4: offense though, I think that they've been just okay so far.
- 29:42Speaker 5: I think it's a good test too for CJ. Stroud.
- 29:44Speaker 10: I mean just within the you know, the context of
- 29:46Speaker 10: being a young quarterback. You want to be, you know,
- 29:48Speaker 10: really one of the elite quarterbacks, Like this is a
- 29:50Speaker 10: game you should win, like even without your top guys.
- 29:51Speaker 10: If you're going to be one of those top quarterbacks.
- 29:54Speaker 10: You know he's coming in here. I mean, I don't
- 29:55Speaker 10: know what the line is now, but I mean their favorites,
- 29:57Speaker 10: they should they should be able to win, you know,
- 29:59Speaker 10: so a little bit of pressure on him without his
- 30:01Speaker 10: you know, top guys, but these are the kind of
- 30:03Speaker 10: games you want to take that next step to that
- 30:04Speaker 10: next level. You're you know, no matter what injuries you have,
- 30:07Speaker 10: you go on the road. I mean, this isn't an
- 30:08Speaker 10: easy place to play.
- 30:09Speaker 4: As far as overlooking Fred, I don't think they've played great,
- 30:13Speaker 4: like do you know, Like they're four and one with
- 30:15Speaker 4: a negative point differential, which is kind of hard to do.
- 30:19Speaker 4: It is, so they got Wax. The one loss was
- 30:22Speaker 4: thirty four to seven or something like that, and every
- 30:25Speaker 4: every win was by by a score. So yeah, they're
- 30:29Speaker 4: probably looking to play, you know, put together a good game.
- 30:32Speaker 4: They really haven't done that yet.
- 30:33Speaker 3: So going back to their defense, yesterday, Gerard Mayo said,
- 30:36Speaker 3: we're familiar with their defense.
- 30:38Speaker 4: I thought that was really interesting too.
- 30:39Speaker 10: I did too, and I'm still not quite sure exactly
- 30:42Speaker 10: what how he meant it. I mean, probably been a
- 30:44Speaker 10: good following.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Is there a coaching connection, I mean, obviously Casario is,
- 30:48Speaker 3: you know, but.
- 30:49Speaker 5: I mean it's not a it's true. Yeah, I mean,
- 30:51Speaker 5: I think, you know, Evan.
- 30:52Speaker 10: Evan could probably expand upon this, But I think it
- 30:53Speaker 10: is based out of the Pee Carrol Cover three.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Kind of system.
- 30:56Speaker 10: I think that's the root of it, and obviously it's
- 30:58Speaker 10: evolved a little bit. But I don't know if if
- 31:00Speaker 10: if it's connected to San Francisco a little bit, and
- 31:02Speaker 10: he's had some preparation going against San Francisco, you know
- 31:05Speaker 10: seeing that.
- 31:06Speaker 4: I mean the coordinator. His name is Matt Burke. I
- 31:08Speaker 4: don't know his background. I don't know if he has
- 31:12Speaker 4: some ties to Patriots somewhere along.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Question for Evan, what did he mean what a male
- 31:17Speaker 5: mean familiar?
- 31:19Speaker 10: But especially with Drake being for because I think that's
- 31:21Speaker 10: what he said, Drake is he's familiar with this, right,
- 31:23Speaker 10: That's that's.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Why, Yeah, is familiar with No no, no, he said
- 31:28Speaker 4: we meaning team. That's what I thought he said, Drake.
- 31:33Speaker 5: How could Drake?
- 31:33Speaker 4: How Couldrake be familiar in terms.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Of a preparation. They're able to prepare him because they're
- 31:38Speaker 3: familiar with the defense.
- 31:40Speaker 5: They know what he's going to do.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, that probably deserved to follow up. But
- 31:44Speaker 4: it was all Drake do everything.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I know.
- 31:46Speaker 5: I guess Fred, I mean Fred.
- 31:48Speaker 4: You know, we just sit in the back and I
- 31:49Speaker 4: don't know. All right, we've seen and not heard.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Podcasts at Patriots dot com. Is the email address the
- 31:56Speaker 3: tpx hutline is eight five five past five hundred. We
- 31:59Speaker 3: do have to hurry because today is picks. Evan will
- 32:03Speaker 3: be by later, So let's get to some of those
- 32:06Speaker 3: listener engagements. Okay, we'll start with Christian in Virginia. What's up, Christian?
- 32:16Speaker 4: Hey, how's it going?
- 32:17Speaker 10: Guys?
- 32:18Speaker 12: I have a compliment, a statement, and then I have
- 32:21Speaker 12: a question for you. My first compliment, you, guys, of
- 32:26Speaker 12: all the podcasts and radio shows I listened to do
- 32:29Speaker 12: a phenomenal job of using each other's names. If I
- 32:34Speaker 12: can tell who's talking just by voices, and I was,
- 32:38Speaker 12: it was pretty easy to memorize everyone. And I gotta
- 32:41Speaker 12: say I appreciate.
- 32:42Speaker 3: That even Evans, well, Evan is very distinctive voice, the
- 32:48Speaker 3: deep you know.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Tell me you can't tell the difference between me and
- 32:51Speaker 4: him and I'm coming over the table.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Joke, But I appreciate the feedback Christians.
- 32:59Speaker 10: Uh.
- 32:59Speaker 12: My statement, I think the strength, a splight strength of
- 33:05Speaker 12: their offense that I'm interested to see in Sunday's game
- 33:08Speaker 12: is I think, even with mixing out and I think Pierce,
- 33:12Speaker 12: their RB two, is coming off of a hamstring injury
- 33:16Speaker 12: or something like that, but they have a I'd say
- 33:19Speaker 12: they have a pretty solid rotation and keeping everyone fresh
- 33:23Speaker 12: seems to be one of their big benefits of their
- 33:26Speaker 12: running game. But I know the Bills also haven't been
- 33:30Speaker 12: the best on their run.
- 33:32Speaker 13: Defense, which also affected how they did last week.
- 33:36Speaker 12: My question was, and I know I think you guys
- 33:40Speaker 12: talked about this a little bit last week. Would you
- 33:45Speaker 12: like to see any journeyman come and back up Drake
- 33:52Speaker 12: next year and just kind of give him some pointers
- 33:54Speaker 12: or do you think we should just stick with mixed
- 33:56Speaker 12: in as our Milton Carton backup?
- 34:02Speaker 3: Okay, thanks Christian. It's a good question about next year,
- 34:06Speaker 3: like who should be the backup next year?
- 34:07Speaker 4: I need more info. I need to see what it
- 34:09Speaker 4: looks like.
- 34:10Speaker 10: Yeah, but you're gonna need arms anyway, right, I mean
- 34:12Speaker 10: they're gonna have to sign at least.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Like his point is, is Milt in the backup?
- 34:16Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 34:16Speaker 4: Are you comfortable with that?
- 34:17Speaker 5: Now? I would? I would? I would?
- 34:18Speaker 3: What about keep him said? If he's up to that?
- 34:21Speaker 3: If he if he's why would he be up to that?
- 34:24Speaker 3: Why would he be? Because he wants you thinking that
- 34:26Speaker 3: he he has started to want.
- 34:27Speaker 4: To do what he did this year.
- 34:29Speaker 2: I think it depends on his options.
- 34:30Speaker 4: When we get to that, hey'll look for an option
- 34:33Speaker 4: where he can compete jobs. Yeah, but he's gonna look
- 34:36Speaker 4: somewhere where he can compete. He can't compete for a
- 34:38Speaker 4: job here.
- 34:39Speaker 5: But if there's no place to.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Compete, maybe maybe he stays what likes it here.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's always possible, but I find that
- 34:46Speaker 4: it's hard to give him a chance out. But I
- 34:47Speaker 4: do think like there'll be it'll be like a Raiders.
- 34:49Speaker 3: What about just the overall idea of having a veteran backup.
- 34:55Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm always a fan of that. I think it's about,
- 34:57Speaker 10: you know, balance and having some experience in the room.
- 34:59Speaker 10: And you know, they've always had those guys kind of around,
- 35:02Speaker 10: whether it was bringing Brian Hoyer back or you know.
- 35:05Speaker 5: I mean, it's an interesting kind of thing because.
- 35:07Speaker 2: You're still down the street.
- 35:08Speaker 5: I know he's uh, he's still we can't get rid
- 35:09Speaker 5: of him. But yeah, I would be Fortston.
- 35:12Speaker 2: What would it be for.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Eric ericson Worcester?
- 35:19Speaker 14: Hey, Eric, Hey, if it's okay.
- 35:24Speaker 15: I just wanted to share a really quick, kind of
- 35:27Speaker 15: heartwarming story. So two years ago I've never been to
- 35:31Speaker 15: a game, and then two years ago I was supposed
- 35:33Speaker 15: to go to the Christmas game against the Bengals, if
- 35:36Speaker 15: you remember that one, and unfortunately my father Bill really
- 35:41Speaker 15: ill and had to go on the transplant list. But
- 35:44Speaker 15: he ended up recovering pretty quickly in a few months
- 35:47Speaker 15: and he's doing right now. And then so fast forward
- 35:51Speaker 15: to Tuesday, Like you guys, I got the news about
- 35:54Speaker 15: Drake May and got really excited, and actually my girlfriend
- 35:58Speaker 15: texted me and that's how I found out. And then
- 36:02Speaker 15: not even a couple of hours later, some family friends
- 36:06Speaker 15: texted us saying that they couldn't go to the game
- 36:09Speaker 15: and We're going to take their tickets and go on Sunday.
- 36:11Speaker 15: So I'm really excited. I've never been to Chile before,
- 36:16Speaker 15: so I can't wait to go and hopefully see them
- 36:18Speaker 15: all out.
- 36:20Speaker 5: One to start with, great, right, that's great, Thanks Eric.
- 36:23Speaker 10: I'll piggyback on that story that uh that my in
- 36:26Speaker 10: laws are going to their first game and their NFL fans.
- 36:28Speaker 10: They've never been to an NFL game, so we got
- 36:30Speaker 10: them all set up, so they're they're very excited. I
- 36:32Speaker 10: was like, you're getting a great game. I mean last
- 36:34Speaker 10: year my wife and kids went to their first game
- 36:35Speaker 10: and it was the Bills game, the best game of
- 36:37Speaker 10: the year, the one they won.
- 36:38Speaker 5: And then I'm like, between.
- 36:39Speaker 10: Drake May starting the red uniforms, that you know it's
- 36:41Speaker 10: going to be a cool atmosphere, uniful.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Eric was going to say, you know, my dad had
- 36:46Speaker 3: to think he's recovery's doing great. And then they announced
- 36:49Speaker 3: Drake May and he had another heart.
- 36:52Speaker 10: That's not a hard worming story, Fred, that's a hard
- 36:55Speaker 10: freezing story.
- 36:57Speaker 4: I was supposed to prevent us from saying things that.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Good. Eric, Alex is in Fall River. No, she's right here.
- 37:07Speaker 3: What's up, Alex?
- 37:07Speaker 4: Do you know Alex?
- 37:11Speaker 2: What last name?
- 37:12Speaker 6: My question? So, I wasn't a big fan of the
- 37:15Speaker 6: hiring process that class went through to get Mayo. I
- 37:17Speaker 6: understand that at this point, but my best case scenario
- 37:21Speaker 6: for this year is that Drake May plays amazing and
- 37:23Speaker 6: shows out while the team still struggles, and a coach
- 37:27Speaker 6: like Ben Johnson possibly can come over here. Do you
- 37:29Speaker 6: guys think that the possibility or do you guys think that.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Craft comes over here as the head coach?
- 37:35Speaker 4: You mean it's okay, I don't think that's possibility.
- 37:38Speaker 10: No, it's hard to resign how they would how Drake
- 37:42Speaker 10: May would light it up, but then you're.
- 37:43Speaker 5: Going to fire the office of coordinator.
- 37:45Speaker 4: Oh no, Ben Johnson is not coming here.
- 37:48Speaker 5: The head coach or the head coach like May lights
- 37:51Speaker 5: it up.
- 37:51Speaker 4: I think to me, the only way that Gerard Mayo
- 37:53Speaker 4: will not be the coach next year is either one
- 37:56Speaker 4: of two. Either he decides he doesn't want to do
- 37:57Speaker 4: it anymore, or there's some kind of scandal. Yeah, like
- 38:01Speaker 4: it's not going to be because they go two and fifteen.
- 38:03Speaker 4: I don't think, no, no, you know, so I think
- 38:07Speaker 4: you've got to give a guy a chance to to install,
- 38:10Speaker 4: you know, a rebuild, and.
- 38:12Speaker 2: And just with injuries and everything like that, he's been
- 38:15Speaker 2: riddled with this first year. Like it's just unfair. I
- 38:17Speaker 2: don't think you can even.
- 38:18Speaker 4: I'm just going to tell you right now, next there will.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Always be injuries. But like this, look at our captain,
- 38:24Speaker 2: like this is a little.
- 38:25Speaker 4: I'm just telling you it will be the same because
- 38:28Speaker 4: every team is dealing with it.
- 38:29Speaker 5: I think that I think that I don't know the thin.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Dealing with this Christian that's the only one everybody else
- 38:37Speaker 4: has got. Matt Mulano's that everybody's but missing out of five.
- 38:42Speaker 16: Captains, five captains, I mean, that's that's like the only guy.
- 38:46Speaker 4: I'm talking about captains. I'm talking about key players. But
- 38:49Speaker 4: every team is dealing Think about the uphill challenge. Okay,
- 38:53Speaker 4: first of all, you're coming in after Belichick and regardless
- 38:55Speaker 4: of what already last four years, you're coming against up
- 38:59Speaker 4: against the Yep, you're coming onto a team that has
- 39:03Speaker 4: had twenty years of Super Bowls and most of the
- 39:06Speaker 4: people that are calling this show that's all they know,
- 39:09Speaker 4: So there's that expectation. Then you're coming onto a team
- 39:13Speaker 4: with an offensive coordinator who's never been that, a defensive
- 39:16Speaker 4: coordinator who's never been that, a third overall pick who
- 39:20Speaker 4: you know, you got to get him in there to see.
- 39:22Speaker 4: I mean, like it's a lot for a first time
- 39:25Speaker 4: head coach. I'm sorry, this is where I'm one thousand
- 39:28Speaker 4: percent you know, yeah, I mean the injuries have been enormous.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Forget about like, yeah, they're important NFL.
- 39:34Speaker 4: But that's like literally every team, not every team, but
- 39:37Speaker 4: twenty five teams are dealing with something. So you know,
- 39:40Speaker 4: Hollywood Brown, Rashi, Rice, Isaiah Pacheco, like just one off
- 39:44Speaker 4: the very top of my head for a team that's
- 39:46Speaker 4: five and zero. The difference is for the Patriots, it's
- 39:49Speaker 4: far more impactful because losing Kyle Duggar in Jabriel Pepper's
- 39:55Speaker 4: and Juwan Bentley is like way more damaging to a
- 39:59Speaker 4: team that is not as talented. That's where the difference is.
- 40:03Speaker 4: But in terms of you know, Christian mccan I mean,
- 40:05Speaker 4: look at what San Francisco went through in the first month,
- 40:09Speaker 4: you know, Kittle, Samuel McCaffrey, these guys were all out,
- 40:14Speaker 4: you know, for periods of time. Everybody's dealing with that.
- 40:18Speaker 4: But for the Patriots it's way worse because of they
- 40:21Speaker 4: don't have as much to fall back.
- 40:22Speaker 10: Then.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I don't know how you could get rid of.
- 40:28Speaker 4: I don't know how you could possibly think about getting
- 40:30Speaker 4: rid of Girod Mayo based on everything, like the totality,
- 40:34Speaker 4: like what Fritz said, like it's year one basically of
- 40:38Speaker 4: his rebuild.
- 40:39Speaker 10: I mean, i'd say generally, any any team that hires
- 40:42Speaker 10: a coach and has to switch one year in you
- 40:44Speaker 10: did something.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Football in general, like Carolina last year with Frank Reich.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Frank Reich has this whole thing. I didn't want Bryce Young,
- 40:53Speaker 4: you made me take Bryce Young. I didn't need this guy.
- 40:55Speaker 4: So there's a philosophical butting of heads. That's how you
- 40:58Speaker 4: get fired in year one, you know, And I don't know,
- 41:01Speaker 4: maybe something like that is behind the scenes with girod
- 41:04Speaker 4: Mayo and Robert Kraft. I don't think that's the case,
- 41:07Speaker 4: you know what I mean, So bet like, it's not
- 41:09Speaker 4: because Carolina stunk last year that Frank Wright got fired.
- 41:12Speaker 4: It's because it was kind of insubordinate. Like, Okay, I
- 41:16Speaker 4: get it. You don't want them coach him. He's the guy, right,
- 41:18Speaker 4: he didn't want to coach him.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Once he's here, get on board, you know. All right,
- 41:23Speaker 3: My food's here, so I'm ready to mess and drop

- 43:17Speaker 19: any act of domestic violence is unacceptable for us as
- 43:21Speaker 19: a team, no matter if you're a player staff member.
- 43:24Speaker 20: We're wholeheartedly against any type of domestic violence. I know
- 43:28Speaker 20: the organization's position, which I fully support, you know. With
- 43:33Speaker 20: that being said, I do think that you know, Jabriel,
- 43:37Speaker 20: you know, has to go through the system, has to
- 43:39Speaker 20: continue to go through a due process, and we'll see.
- 43:42Speaker 3: How that how that works out.
- 43:44Speaker 20: What I will say is that the league has put
- 43:46Speaker 20: him on the exemple list, uh, the exemp list, and
- 43:49Speaker 20: that will give us time to really gather more information
- 43:53Speaker 20: going forward. At this time, he is not in the building.
- 43:56Speaker 20: He's not in the building, and you know, we'll talk
- 43:59Speaker 20: about that at a later time. That's the last thing
- 44:02Speaker 20: I want to say about Jabrilla his situation at this time.
- 44:06Speaker 20: So moving on, I would also say kind of say
- 44:10Speaker 20: one more thanks. Sorry I did say I was finished.
- 44:12Speaker 20: You know, As a father of three daughters, I definitely
- 44:16Speaker 20: understand the seriousness of the allegations and and hopefully they're
- 44:19Speaker 20: not true. But we'll see. Like I said earlier, we'll
- 44:22Speaker 20: go through that that due process.
- 44:25Speaker 4: I think are the commissioners exempt this sort of allowed
- 44:28Speaker 4: to be with the team to anticipate keeping him away
- 44:31Speaker 4: or allowing him.
- 44:31Speaker 20: Back at some point, I would say, as you know
- 44:34Speaker 20: in the near term he will not be in the building.
- 44:37Speaker 4: Can you discuss your decision to quarterback and how you
- 44:40Speaker 4: came to that decision.
- 44:42Speaker 20: Yeah, you know, I thought Jacoby, and we say it
- 44:45Speaker 20: all the time that you know, it's all about competition
- 44:47Speaker 20: every single position, I would say as a coach, and
- 44:51Speaker 20: I know the organization feels this way. We're trying to
- 44:53Speaker 20: win every game, and at the time, you know, we
- 44:55Speaker 20: thought that Jacoby will give us the best opportunity to
- 44:58Speaker 20: go out there and win games, protecting the football, really
- 45:01Speaker 20: running the offense. You know, With that being said, he
- 45:03Speaker 20: was a warrior, as you guys know he had you know,
- 45:05Speaker 20: he's taken a lot of hits and just kept getting up.
- 45:09Speaker 20: And I would also say, you know, for a guy
- 45:11Speaker 20: like that to be voted as a captain in this
- 45:15Speaker 20: situation and continue to be very supportive of Drake, may
- 45:19Speaker 20: my hat. I tip my hat to Jacoby for having
- 45:21Speaker 20: that uh ego less mentality going forward. I think now
- 45:28Speaker 20: you know, Drake gives us the best chance to win
- 45:30Speaker 20: now and going forward. He's been developed. I mean, he's
- 45:33Speaker 20: been getting better every single week. As I said before,
- 45:37Speaker 20: you know, at the end of training camp he actually
- 45:39Speaker 20: was trending, you know, at a very high rate, and
- 45:42Speaker 20: that has continued through the early part of the season.
- 45:45Speaker 20: And so you know, it was solely my decision to
- 45:47Speaker 20: make the UH to make this choice. I had a
- 45:50Speaker 20: conversation one on one with Jacoby, I had a conversation
- 45:53Speaker 20: with Drake.
- 45:54Speaker 4: We're all on board.
- 45:55Speaker 20: And I would also say, you know, Jacoby is a warrior,
- 45:58Speaker 20: and he took the news very well, like a professional,
- 46:01Speaker 20: like you would expect from a guy like that.
- 46:04Speaker 13: So it's right you said, you said Drake is getting better.
- 46:08Speaker 13: Another two things is physical and his mental can You've talked.
- 46:12Speaker 20: About if you talked to Drake about his football acumen?
- 46:17Speaker 18: Has that improved from training camp from the beginning part
- 46:20Speaker 18: of the season, which gives you more comfort in putting
- 46:23Speaker 18: in in at this particular point in time.
- 46:25Speaker 20: I would say, you know, Drake's a smart guy, and
- 46:28Speaker 20: we saw that throughout the draft process as far as
- 46:31Speaker 20: you know, understanding the offense and the language and just
- 46:34Speaker 20: his overall football IQ. I think that continues to improve.
- 46:36Speaker 20: And I was actually pleasantly surprised. You know, even when
- 46:39Speaker 20: he got here, it was never a question was he smart,
- 46:41Speaker 20: But I was pleasantly surprised just you know, his work
- 46:45Speaker 20: ethic out of this world and you know, studying the
- 46:48Speaker 20: playbook and trying to get those reps and he continues
- 46:51Speaker 20: to get better each and every day physically. Look this guy, Uh,
- 46:54Speaker 20: definitely gives us a chance to you know, kind of
- 46:56Speaker 20: get some of those off schedule plays that you guys
- 46:59Speaker 20: always see on on TV.
- 47:02Speaker 4: Decision.
- 47:03Speaker 7: Does that mean that you had to when Dallas being
- 47:05Speaker 7: off said were making the change us with the process.
- 47:09Speaker 20: No, that's a great question. What I would say is
- 47:11Speaker 20: so I met with all the offensive coaches and we
- 47:14Speaker 20: had a conversation. Then we met together a VP and
- 47:19Speaker 20: myself and he was fully on board. And once again,
- 47:22Speaker 20: it goes back to who gives us the best chance
- 47:23Speaker 20: to win this week, to.
- 47:26Speaker 4: The decision being made or you say, Alex were close
- 47:28Speaker 4: here or have you had conversations leading up to the
- 47:32Speaker 4: ultimate decision being able closer.
- 47:34Speaker 13: Had to make it?
- 47:35Speaker 6: Well?
- 47:35Speaker 20: During training camp at the end of training camp, we
- 47:37Speaker 20: had those discussions on almost a daily basis. You know,
- 47:41Speaker 20: what do we want to do to open the season.
- 47:43Speaker 20: And I would also say as the season continue to progress,
- 47:46Speaker 20: you know, we won the first game and then the
- 47:47Speaker 20: second game was a tight one. Then obviously, you guys
- 47:50Speaker 20: know what happened along the way. It wasn't a conversation
- 47:54Speaker 20: where I was like Alex were close for him as
- 47:57Speaker 20: an offensive coordinator. For all the coordinators, they have to
- 47:59Speaker 20: prepare to go out here and win again, and so
- 48:01Speaker 20: having those conversations during the regular season on a on
- 48:04Speaker 20: a you know, let's say a weekly basis is really unrealistic. Now,
- 48:07Speaker 20: with that being said, we had the conversation. He agreed
- 48:11Speaker 20: with with the move, and you know, it's hard. It's
- 48:14Speaker 20: it's a hard move. One thing I have learned about
- 48:16Speaker 20: quarterbacks is a little different than any other position. So
- 48:20Speaker 20: what I would say is, you know, we had the
- 48:21Speaker 20: conversation and both agreed that this was the right way.
- 48:30Speaker 20: I told the team this morning. You know, look, these
- 48:32Speaker 20: guys are on social media and all that stuff as well,
- 48:34Speaker 20: And like I said, we had the conversation with Jacoby
- 48:37Speaker 20: and Drake the night prior. But I told the team
- 48:40Speaker 20: this morning in the same way that we the full
- 48:42Speaker 20: weight of the organization was behind Jacoby at the time,
- 48:45Speaker 20: I expect the same thing, the full weight of the
- 48:47Speaker 20: organization to be behind Drake no matter what.
- 48:49Speaker 9: Did you have this.
- 48:50Speaker 11: Date in mind for Drake Mays debut as a starter
- 48:53Speaker 11: drud or, was the plan that you've talked to us
- 48:55Speaker 11: so much about was that.
- 48:56Speaker 5: At all expedited?
- 48:58Speaker 20: Look, I don't think it's secret. Our offense hasn't been
- 49:01Speaker 20: performing the way that we all hoped it would, and
- 49:04Speaker 20: so you know, to answer your question, your question, ask
- 49:11Speaker 20: the question again. I want to make sure I say
- 49:12Speaker 20: this is right.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Was the plan expedited or no?
- 49:15Speaker 20: So I wouldn't say no, I wouldn't say the plan
- 49:18Speaker 20: was expedited. Like again, the end of training camp, he
- 49:22Speaker 20: was trending up and that never slowed down. So at
- 49:24Speaker 20: this point he gives us the best chance to win.
- 49:27Speaker 3: People are saying that maybe.
- 49:28Speaker 18: The team around him isn't ideal for Drake when the
- 49:31Speaker 18: offensive line and the city the offense.
- 49:32Speaker 20: Right now, what you say, look there, you know every team,
- 49:36Speaker 20: even this early in the season is still trying to
- 49:38Speaker 20: figure out like who they have and what they are
- 49:41Speaker 20: as an organization, their identity. But I would say, look,
- 49:45Speaker 20: we're good with Drake. Every team doesn't have a let's say,
- 49:49Speaker 20: a one receiver, one running back. You know, they don't
- 49:52Speaker 20: have those kinds of things. But I would say that
- 49:54Speaker 20: Drake is going to make us a better football team
- 49:56Speaker 20: today and going forward.
- 49:57Speaker 17: Finally got on Phil's question for a moment as parts
- 50:00Speaker 17: of why you decided now and the Dolphins last week.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Next week the Jaguars and the Texans are one of
- 50:05Speaker 3: the toughest teams in the league.
- 50:06Speaker 6: Is there any consideration given to the opponents?
- 50:10Speaker 20: I would say there's never. There's never a perfect time
- 50:12Speaker 20: to make a change. Every defense that we play, whether
- 50:16Speaker 20: it's the defensive ends or the defensive tackles, they all
- 50:18Speaker 20: have the ability to rush and get after the quarterback.
- 50:20Speaker 20: So I don't think there's ever a perfect time. What
- 50:22Speaker 20: I will say is this defense is there's some you know,
- 50:26Speaker 20: we're familiar with the defense and we've seen it, and
- 50:28Speaker 20: he's prepared for this defense as if he was the starter,
- 50:32Speaker 20: and I just felt like this was the right time
- 50:33Speaker 20: to do it.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Organizationally, was everyone on board?
- 50:38Speaker 20: Meeting Elliott, Thoms, Elliott, Elliott, and ownership, all of us
- 50:43Speaker 20: were were on board with the change. Not at all,
- 50:50Speaker 20: Not at all. And I expressed that to Jacoby and
- 50:52Speaker 20: our one on one that you know, his leadership was
- 50:55Speaker 20: not just what he did on the field, but also
- 50:57Speaker 20: off the field and my expectation and he agreed was
- 51:00Speaker 20: that he would continue to be a leader on our
- 51:02Speaker 20: football team.
- 51:03Speaker 8: The story you're talking about the season, really it's said
- 51:06Speaker 8: to him, we don't want to be in a.
- 51:07Speaker 4: Situation, but we're putting Frake May in thinks going quote, well,
- 51:11Speaker 4: we hope like the back up who that's that? Is
- 51:15Speaker 4: this something for good bank situation?
- 51:19Speaker 11: Like he's in there for good?
- 51:20Speaker 5: I think he's the backs.
- 51:22Speaker 20: Look right now, Drake May is our starter today and
- 51:25Speaker 20: going forward. Uh, and Jacoby's our backup quarterback.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Do you expect Drake to get like one hundred percent
- 51:30Speaker 4: of the snaps?
- 51:30Speaker 20: I expect pad for He'll get most of them, most
- 51:33Speaker 20: of the snaps.
- 51:34Speaker 4: As you disappointed all where you disappointed at all that
- 51:38Speaker 4: the news came out.
- 51:39Speaker 3: Before he talked to the team.
- 51:41Speaker 20: A little bit like any type of decision that's a
- 51:43Speaker 20: big decision, you want to let the team know first.
- 51:46Speaker 20: But in saying that, look, these guys they read everything,
- 51:49Speaker 20: and you know it's fine.
- 51:53Speaker 4: What have you seen Drake's biggest growth?
- 51:55Speaker 20: You know, this is over the last five weeks, just
- 51:58Speaker 20: you know, operating the huddle. I think it starts right there,
- 52:00Speaker 20: you know, get in the call, getting in the huddle,
- 52:02Speaker 20: getting out of the huddle and going out there executing
- 52:04Speaker 20: the player.
- 52:05Speaker 6: All of you anticipate if the offense chieved great.
- 52:09Speaker 20: I mean it's hard to put a percentage on you
- 52:11Speaker 20: know how much the offense will change. What I will
- 52:14Speaker 20: say is like we have core core concepts that all
- 52:16Speaker 20: the quarterbacks have to know how to go out there
- 52:18Speaker 20: and execute.
- 52:19Speaker 2: You know.
- 52:19Speaker 20: With that being said, is athleticism definitely opens up more
- 52:22Speaker 20: plays quarter night products last night or money talked to
- 52:29Speaker 20: him last.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Night because it was already out of they.
- 52:32Speaker 5: Would have bumped out.
- 52:33Speaker 20: Well, some of that stuff was assumption.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Robbie, give a good play from your perspective from where
- 52:39Speaker 3: he was to where you aren't out going into this game.
- 52:42Speaker 5: What do you like about Drake Maye as you're.
- 52:44Speaker 3: Starting the quarterback?
- 52:46Speaker 20: I would just say, first, you know you can start
- 52:47Speaker 20: with his arm and just his overall athleticism perfect.
- 52:51Speaker 16: Like you.
- 52:57Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 53:01Speaker 6: History.
- 53:01Speaker 4: Does that make any sense? I think the Patriots almost
- 53:04Speaker 4: stole one. They were in position to steal the game.
- 53:06Speaker 4: They're on the twenty five yard line up three with
- 53:09Speaker 4: five minutes. You've got to put that game.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Well, I would say that they were better, but when
- 53:17Speaker 3: you dropped the ball five six times. Does that make
- 53:19Speaker 3: you the better team?
- 53:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it means you were better. You just you just
- 53:22Speaker 4: didn't execute.
- 53:23Speaker 3: So when you drop the ball makes you better?
- 53:25Speaker 4: Yeah? They were they I mean, these guys just told
- 53:27Speaker 4: you how open these guys were. You were lucky, you know.
- 53:30Speaker 3: But if you dropped the ball, you dropped the ball.
- 53:31Speaker 3: That's that's a lack of execution.
- 53:33Speaker 4: Right, he would have four hundred. You're better, You're more
- 53:36Speaker 4: talented than the other team. Yes, you did what you
- 53:39Speaker 4: wanted to do, more than they did what they.
- 53:40Speaker 3: Wanted to do. I think they wanted to catch the ball.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Did you ever see anybody so maddening as this?
- 53:47Speaker 3: Right?
- 53:47Speaker 4: Like, right, I know they wanted to make the field
- 53:50Speaker 4: goal to Fred, but the other guy blocked it. That's
- 53:52Speaker 4: a bad that's bad execution, exactly right, So what like
- 53:56Speaker 4: what are we doing?
- 53:57Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 54:01Speaker 3: All right eight five to five past five hundred. Is
- 54:03Speaker 3: the tpx Hutline podcasts at Patriots dot com. Is the
- 54:08Speaker 3: email address. It's Paul, it's Evan, he'll be here soon,
- 54:12Speaker 3: Deuce Alex, myself, Jules in the booth with Matt over
- 54:16Speaker 3: her shoulder. I have to hurry because it is picks.
- 54:21Speaker 3: We're going to get to that. But Dylan writes in
- 54:24Speaker 3: he says, why is everyone acting like we're sending Drake
- 54:26Speaker 3: made a war right right?
- 54:28Speaker 4: Thank you doing.
- 54:30Speaker 3: It's an NFL game, not a tickle match. There's an
- 54:33Speaker 3: injury risk for every player on either side. Do we
- 54:35Speaker 3: get a weekly update from that guy who has no
- 54:37Speaker 3: idea how percentages work? Who's he talking about? I don't know.
- 54:41Speaker 3: I think I know what he was talking a little anyway,
- 54:43Speaker 3: go Patriots Vederian Lowe was the highest graded offensive lineman
- 54:47Speaker 3: last week according to PFF. Did we bully him into
- 54:50Speaker 3: being a good left tackle?
- 54:52Speaker 5: I've seen a couple of variations of this.
- 54:53Speaker 10: If like he's a six four five pound human being,
- 54:56Speaker 10: like he'll be He'll be okay. But I get it,
- 55:00Speaker 10: I mean, you just I think part of it too,
- 55:02Speaker 10: is that right now you can live in fantasy land
- 55:04Speaker 10: within Drake may like you know, you don't there's no
- 55:06Speaker 10: And it's the same thing it was with like Mayo
- 55:08Speaker 10: and Wolf before the season started, like nothing had really
- 55:11Speaker 10: happened yet there have been no controversies to deal with
- 55:13Speaker 10: or anything like that, and now it's like, all right,
- 55:16Speaker 10: you're gonna see may now there might be some worts,
- 55:18Speaker 10: there might be some good things, you know, and all
- 55:19Speaker 10: of a sudden, he's now going to start to you know,
- 55:22Speaker 10: have storylines about him and things that you have to
- 55:24Speaker 10: talk about. And you know very well, next week we
- 55:26Speaker 10: might be talking about man, he's just he doesn't really
- 55:28Speaker 10: feel it in the pocket, like he like those sacks
- 55:30Speaker 10: were his fault, you know, like that, like those kind
- 55:32Speaker 10: of conversations are going to start to happen next week
- 55:34Speaker 10: when you really put him under the microscope, which is
- 55:36Speaker 10: inevitably what happens when a quarterback has to play a game.
- 55:40Speaker 3: All right, my email has frozen up, so.
- 55:44Speaker 4: I get ahead. I was I was gonna vamp for you.
- 55:46Speaker 3: You're gonna vamp. No.
- 55:47Speaker 4: No, we have called me my throat at any time.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Josh's in Dallas. What's up, Josh?
- 55:54Speaker 2: Everyone?
- 55:54Speaker 11: I know it's Thursday, so we got to hurry. I
- 55:57Speaker 11: have two quick laments that lead to a question. First
- 56:02Speaker 11: is that it was tough to watch Juju the Corpse
- 56:04Speaker 11: of Juju Smith Shooster's knee go for one hundred and
- 56:07Speaker 11: thirty yards on Monday night.
- 56:09Speaker 12: The second is on Sunday.
- 56:12Speaker 11: At noon, when I was checking some of the scores.
- 56:15Speaker 11: Six of the twelve teams that played had over thirty points,
- 56:19Speaker 11: and so I was just curious the last time the
- 56:21Speaker 11: Patriots scored thirty or more and it was actually two
- 56:23Speaker 11: years ago this week, Week six, the last time they
- 56:26Speaker 11: had thirty or more points. And that leads me to
- 56:30Speaker 11: my question, which I think we can all agree that
- 56:33Speaker 11: the rebuilds can be expedited based on how May is
- 56:37Speaker 11: as a quarterback, and so for the sake of the argument,
- 56:39Speaker 11: let's say he's like a good NFL quarterback, like a Herbert.
- 56:44Speaker 11: Even then, to me as a fan, it still feels
- 56:46Speaker 11: like there's so many holes on both sides of the
- 56:48Speaker 11: ball that they won't be competitive right away. And so
- 56:52Speaker 11: I was just curious how many draft cycles and how
- 56:55Speaker 11: many free agency classes you think they are away from
- 56:58Speaker 11: truly competing play in an ideal world with him getting
- 57:02Speaker 11: some experience this year, by the end of next year
- 57:05Speaker 11: and into year three is when they really take off.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Yeah, thank listen. I was listening to one of our guys,
- 57:12Speaker 3: Andy Hart, and I kind of agree, if you do
- 57:15Speaker 3: things right, and of course it all starts with May
- 57:18Speaker 3: playing well, but if May is a good quarterback, if
- 57:22Speaker 3: you do things right, and you draft, well, you can
- 57:25Speaker 3: turn this around in a year or two. I mean not,
- 57:28Speaker 3: I don't mean you're up there with the elite teams,
- 57:30Speaker 3: but you're now a competitive team that competing for a
- 57:34Speaker 3: winning record. You can do this fairly quickly, but you
- 57:37Speaker 3: got to do it right. You got to hit on
- 57:39Speaker 3: your picks, and you got to get you know, at
- 57:43Speaker 3: least a couple of free agents in here. Yeah, you
- 57:46Speaker 3: know that really contribute.
- 57:48Speaker 5: They should be able to.
- 57:48Speaker 4: I agree. I mean, I think the NFL allows you
- 57:51Speaker 4: to rebuild faster than most other leagues because it's you know,
- 57:57Speaker 4: it's a blessing and a curse. It's so reliant on
- 57:59Speaker 4: the quarterback. If I mean, Houston was a terrible football
- 58:03Speaker 4: team and you got a good quarterback and all of
- 58:05Speaker 4: a sudden you became a playoff team one year. And
- 58:09Speaker 4: I know a lot of people now revisionist and telling
- 58:12Speaker 4: you how much talent Houston had and that that Stroud inherited.
- 58:15Speaker 4: It's garbage. It was a terrible team. He made those
- 58:19Speaker 4: guys better players, right, He made Nico Collins look better
- 58:22Speaker 4: than he than he had been previously. Part of that
- 58:24Speaker 4: is Nico Collins is developing, But the bigger chunk to me,
- 58:28Speaker 4: goes to Stroud, and if Drake May is really good,
- 58:32Speaker 4: if he's Herbert level, as Josh sort of compared, you
- 58:35Speaker 4: can get good right away. Now the O next year,
- 58:37Speaker 4: you can be a good team.
- 58:38Speaker 3: Now. The other piece of that puzzle that I think
- 58:40Speaker 3: is really important is coaching. Coaching has to be good too. Yeah,
- 58:46Speaker 3: you know, so.
- 58:47Speaker 10: The Texans went through a couple and I mean, I
- 58:48Speaker 10: just I remember before that draft, before they took Stroud
- 58:51Speaker 10: and Anderson, being like, this is this is it for
- 58:53Speaker 10: Nick Cassario, Like if these picks don't hit and hit quick,
- 58:56Speaker 10: he might he might have been out. I'm also just
- 58:58Speaker 10: so jealous of Nico Collins, like to be able to
- 59:01Speaker 10: develop that kind of player in house and to see
- 59:04Speaker 10: him take those strides. It's just, you know, I just
- 59:07Speaker 10: I get so sick of we have to go out
- 59:09Speaker 10: and steal someone else's number one, who's already had four
- 59:12Speaker 10: great years and we've got to pay him a ton,
- 59:14Speaker 10: and now you're getting the guy that already feels like
- 59:15Speaker 10: he's the guy. And there's just something really appealing to
- 59:18Speaker 10: me about developing it internally, and you feel like the
- 59:21Speaker 10: connection grew from you know, is organic. It didn't Jaron
- 59:24Speaker 10: Durantz is a nice piece to you know, to compliment
- 59:26Speaker 10: that and put him over the top. But it didn't
- 59:28Speaker 10: feel like they had to had to had to have
- 59:31Speaker 10: digs to make you know, like they already kind of
- 59:32Speaker 10: had a guy. So, I mean, I know Nico Collins was,
- 59:35Speaker 10: I mean, what round was he? I mean, he's you know,
- 59:37Speaker 10: it's like, you know, not not crazy, like a seventh
- 59:40Speaker 10: round pack.
- 59:41Speaker 4: But that's what I'm saying, Like it doesn't even have
- 59:43Speaker 4: to be like these people are like, should you take
- 59:45Speaker 4: Travis Hunter with a top five pick? And I'm like,
- 59:47Speaker 4: you know, I'm as anti offensive line as anyone could
- 59:50Speaker 4: possibly be, but I don't know how you don't take
- 59:52Speaker 4: a left tackle? Yeah, if you if you have a
- 59:54Speaker 4: top ten pick, especially.
- 59:56Speaker 10: With the amount of receivers that are just kind of
- 59:59Speaker 10: all there, Like I think they everyone gets carried away with.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: The one number one.
- 1:00:03Speaker 10: We need the number one, but like I just want speed,
- 1:00:05Speaker 10: Like I want speed on the outside. That's what I
- 1:00:07Speaker 10: feel like they need. And you know, if you're chasing
- 1:00:09Speaker 10: the number one, it's one thing. But if you're looking
- 1:00:11Speaker 10: to put a guy to compliment what you're kind of
- 1:00:13Speaker 10: growing right now, I mean We talked a little bit
- 1:00:16Speaker 10: yesterday about the tight end position, and you know, Hunter
- 1:00:18Speaker 10: Henry great reliable, you know, not a big run after
- 1:00:21Speaker 10: catch kind of guy. But it's another position where you
- 1:00:23Speaker 10: can start to push the push the offense up the
- 1:00:26Speaker 10: you know, up the pegs. With a guy who can run,
- 1:00:28Speaker 10: it can threaten the seam a little bit. And you know,
- 1:00:30Speaker 10: I just there's something sexy to me about doing it
- 1:00:33Speaker 10: in house and drafting the guys and having the contracts
- 1:00:35Speaker 10: and develop them.
- 1:00:35Speaker 17: I care.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: I just want one, Like, I totally get your point,
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: but I'll take anything. I want a bigger outside threat.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: I know that a lot of people think that's overrated.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: I don't. I think that that kind of allows a
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: lot of stuff to fall into place if you have
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: a really really significant threat at that x mica that
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: that you and I hate. So no, I think it's
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: I just think it's important. He's he's a big, fast
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: guy the outside that requires the other team's attention.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: I want someone who is responsible for points every week, Like,
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: because this person's on our team, that's seven points we
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: didn't have.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 10: Yeah, I think I think the extreme examples is a
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: Randy Moss and you know where the first time.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: I didn't hear that they didn't draft and development.
- 1:01:19Speaker 10: You're you're working with, you know, Dion Branch and David Gibbons,
- 1:01:21Speaker 10: and you know, I mean O six was a huge struggle.
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: And then it just shows you what stratosphere the offense
- 1:01:27Speaker 10: went to when they And that's a unique example.
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: Randy Moss a Hall of fame, you know.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: Un but it's a really good example because like my shows,
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: my guy will tell you, but you don't win anything
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: with those guys. Okay, yeah, all right, I mean I'll
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: take your word for it again because down here when
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: you look at the fine prints, they lost the Super Bowl, right,
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: and when eighteen and one instead of nineteen and zero, Oh,
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: I guess that's because you had an X.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: And they came one helmet away from having a perfect season.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: Like I'm I'm sorry if I want to look and
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: give a little nuance to what actually happened and why,
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: And I'm sorry if I don't blame Randy Moss for
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: the reason why the Patriots fell. You know, one drive
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: short of perfection.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Alex in North Carolina, a lot of alex Is today.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Defense couldn't get a stop.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: So so Glad Drake is finally getting to play, and
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: we'll be our starter from here on out. Much like
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: the panel, I don't understand why on earth so many
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: people are jumping to crazy extremes from the caller yesterday
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: saying we need to draft a whole new line, to
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: people being so scared of Drake getting hurt and saying
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: this is the week one week he shouldn't be starting.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: This is a classic case that you're damned if you do,
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: damn if you don't. This podcast has been by far
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: the most level headed and reasonable group about Drake May starting,
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: and I appreciate the sanity you bring us. Patriots twenty
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: one twenty Drake May puts the team in his back
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: and begins the road to glory.
- 1:02:56Speaker 10: Who do you give more of a chance to the
- 1:02:57Speaker 10: Patriots playing Buffalo here last year Mac Jones or the
- 1:03:01Speaker 10: Pagers playing Houston this year with Drake made his first start,
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: You know, I wouldn't given.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: Them really much.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: I wouldn't have given up much of a shot either
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: way at last year.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Michael writes in he's from Florida. I hope everything's
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: okay down there. Very excited for Drake's debut. People keep
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: bringing up Mac but Drake and Mack are nothing alike.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Mac had everything handed to him at Alabama, five star
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: receivers everywhere in an NFL offensive line. The kid never
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: faced adversity. In the second it got tough here, he crumbled. Drake,
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: on the other hand, didn't have top talent around him,
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: didn't go to a football powerhouse, and still shown through
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: and never made excuses. I don't think Drake is going
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: to throw his toys out with the prem if things
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: get tough.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: I mean, what's the prem can anybody?
- 1:03:46Speaker 10: I don't know what that means, but I think it's
- 1:03:48Speaker 10: like baby with the Bathwaterye.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Well, it's the same thing. But I don't know what
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: a prom is in this case.
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: I don't know what we have Alex on the show.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: If she's not going to translate this craft for.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: Us, I've never heard that one.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: A lot of people asking us to turn Mike's mike up.
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: So yeah, come on, guys, well maybe if you just
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: stop whispering.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: I don't know how Drake is going to react anything.
- 1:04:09Speaker 10: I mean, I assume it's not going to be like
- 1:04:11Speaker 10: you know, we saw some of Max powdering and stuff,
- 1:04:13Speaker 10: but that's that's that's why you have to make the
- 1:04:15Speaker 10: leap and see what this kid is and see what
- 1:04:17Speaker 10: his story is going to be.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: I agree with the premise. I agree with the premise
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: of the email. I do think that Mac. I mean,
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: I'll stop short of saying like he had everything and
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: he had to wait five years to play, you know,
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: at Alabama, but he did have more talent around him,
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: and you know, went undefeated and had it was kind
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: of easy. He never really faced any adversity. I agree, perfect. Yeah,
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: you know, when it when it went bad here, you know,
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: whether it was his fault or Belichick's fault, he didn't
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: handle it well. And I think may has more experience
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: sort of dealing with the ups and downs of football well.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Last year.
- 1:04:53Speaker 10: I mean, I think the point that a lot of
- 1:04:54Speaker 10: people brought up online was that how much pressure Drake
- 1:04:57Speaker 10: Maye was under last year and the drop off last year,
- 1:04:59Speaker 10: and how probably connected to some of the pressure.
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: So you know, he's no stranger again and.
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: Losing some of his personnelity know, Josh Downs leaves and
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: you know, it's it's it's hard. You can't just automatically
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: replace all those guys.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Let's see lots of emails I appreciate all of that
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: AJ in the Bay Bay area. Before the regular season,
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: I leaned toward letting Jacoby start and making the transition
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: early enough for me to get some solid experience. I
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: kind of preferred to see how the team looked as
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: a whole, to get a sense of who they are
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: without May. Do you guys think that we've seen enough
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: to see what this team is without May? Or do
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: you feel it could still improve a little without him? Now?
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: I'm ready, Like I did make that case after it
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: was clear that he wasn't gonna be there in week one.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: It's like, Okay, let's see what the offense looks without him.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Let's see what they can do without him and what
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: we're gonna be putting him into, you know, like know
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: the situation, and.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: I remember when you said that.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm good now, Like I know what, Like
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: I know what this offense can't do for sure, and
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I know that if May is what we think he is,
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: he'll be able to do things to help the offense
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: and it will look better.
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: I hope.
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: So I hope those just offset the things that he
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: does that inexperience and to hurt the offense, which I'm
- 1:06:12Speaker 10: expecting there will be some of those two.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: You know what. I hope that if it looks better,
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: it's not just because of his athleticism, that it looks
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: better like i'd like to I'd like to see it conventionally,
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: Like I like to see him operate from the pocket
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: and just he's a better pastor than Jacobe Brissett, which
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: I think he is. But you know, like I know
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: he can do what he did like against the Jets
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: on fourth and ten or whatever it was, and scramble
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: and and and get.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: Around the blue lights on.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: The blue light is on and the man looking at mics.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: It's different differently you do you do?
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: You just.
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: Reboot it.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: It's not as it's not that his mic was low.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: People were tiring him through our mics.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Oh okay, so he was not getting the So yeah,
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: like my point I think Mike is getting it is.
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: I know that Drake May can scramble out of the
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: pocket and you know, take a bad situation and run
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: fifteen yards for a first down. And I want that,
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: you know, as part of his skill set, no, no question,
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: But I'd like to see it just be conventional offense
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: that he looks better operating it than beset it, because
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: I think that in the long run, is going to
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: help his development the most.
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: Warren Who from UK Patriots, Yeah, he'll be with you
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: in He says, a prim is like a pushchair. What
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: a kid sleeps it?
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: You're the one that stroller.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: Nathan Chicago says, it's a stroll.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: I would take it as a compliment. I think you're
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: smarter than I am.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: It's a low bar, a lot get up the way,
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: a low.
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: Bar, but you were smarter than I am. Oh, I
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: know is sports.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: This person hates the pick segments, wants us to stop
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: the pick segments. Okay, well other.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: People like them. We have we have six hours during
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: the week and we indulge ourselves with a half hour
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: with maybe okay, maybe we're the only ones that like it.
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: I don't know. I enjoyed the pick segment.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Let's get back to the TPX hotline. Melvin's in Tennessee.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: What's up Melvin? Sweet kid sweet going on?
- 1:08:18Speaker 14: Hey, Hey, yeah, I've just talked about it a little bit.
- 1:08:21Speaker 14: But with I know he's not playing this week, but
- 1:08:24Speaker 14: Nico Collins and stuff. I initially thought, like, of course,
- 1:08:27Speaker 14: a lot of that credit would give.
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: It to Stroup.
- 1:08:29Speaker 14: But this next year I went was this second up
- 1:08:32Speaker 14: and everyone watch him a little bit more. He does
- 1:08:34Speaker 14: have a lot of ability, you know, to run after cass.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: Yeah, he's really good tested ball.
- 1:08:40Speaker 14: So I was just I know, Paul, you've missed it
- 1:08:43Speaker 14: with initially because I was right with you. But now
- 1:08:45Speaker 14: do you swing a little bit more towards his ability
- 1:08:47Speaker 14: to I'll give a little bit more credit to the
- 1:08:50Speaker 14: receive it, delf Are you still Oh?
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: No?
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: I think Nico Collins is really good, but I don't
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: think he looked that good if he didn't have a
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: great quarterback throwing in.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: The ball, like.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: I think both things can be true. I think Nico
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: Collins is a young guy that's developed, but he played
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: a couple of years and didn't look like anything like this.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: Didn't it look anything like he did last year in
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: the first two years.
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: So I think he's a really good player.
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: But I think c J. Stroud is one of the
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: best quarterbacks in football already. I mean I think that
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: much of him.
- 1:09:20Speaker 14: Yeah, do you think we have anything close to that?
- 1:09:24Speaker 14: I know I don't. I don't want to be reliant
- 1:09:26Speaker 14: much on Boorn. I'm ready for somebody else to kind
- 1:09:29Speaker 14: of like, I'm hoping that, of course we get a
- 1:09:32Speaker 14: young quarterback and then we have some type of receiver
- 1:09:35Speaker 14: that we can develop in and it really worked out
- 1:09:37Speaker 14: like that. But do we have you don't think we
- 1:09:39Speaker 14: have any type of receiver of this in their range
- 1:09:42Speaker 14: that can develop Mike.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: I don't even know.
- 1:09:46Speaker 10: I mean, you just you're hoping that Polk and Pop
- 1:09:49Speaker 10: and those guys continue to progress and that they look
- 1:09:51Speaker 10: a little bit more productive with may I guess that's those.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: I don't I don't see that kind of skill set.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: I don't see anybody with size, speed, strength like Nico Collins.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Thanks Melvin.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: Is he like six three six four? Yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: I don't. I mean, they physically don't have anybody with that.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: He was just one.
- 1:10:09Speaker 10: Like maybe the reason I kind of have a crush
- 1:10:11Speaker 10: on him is just I remember in the preseason ran over. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:15Speaker 10: just you know, just impressed with with all of a sudden, like,
- 1:10:18Speaker 10: who's this beast out there that's really playing hard? And Yeah,
- 1:10:21Speaker 10: it's a tough loss for him, but a great, you know,
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: great drafting by Cassio.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: Give him credit.
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: I actually think too, it's a really good move. It's
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: kind of a mature move by it by a team
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: that's you know, just starting to get good, like it's
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: a hamstring.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: Win the war, and yeah, they to win the Battle's let's.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: Let's take take it away from him. We're gonna we're
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: gonna make him sit out four weeks. We're just gonna
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: put him on I R. So there's no you know,
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: temptation if it doesn't go great, you know, they get
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: upset this week in New England. There's no panic that
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: we got to get Nico Collins back out. Did you
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: see the offense? Yeah, you know, Covington shut down the Texans.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: We got to get Nico Collins back.
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: No, yeah, you.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: Know, you know, win the season, not not the week.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: We were talking about why maybe the Patriots are familiar
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: with the Houston defense. We'll and we'll talk to Evan
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: about that when he gets here. But Jay in Arkansas
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: says that Texans defensive coordinator has an interesting connection. He's
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: a Hudson, mass Native. He was the defensive coordinator for
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: the Dolphins under Vance Joseph around seventeen twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen,
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: So you know, maybe Hudson Hawk.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't. Yeah, I mean, I don't know what
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: that would have anything to do with why the Patriots
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: are familiar with the defense.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see whenever it comes in. Now, let's go
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: back to the TPX hotline. T is in Virginia. What's up, Tea?
- 1:11:46Speaker 15: Hey?
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: How are you doing?
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: People call you iced Tea.
- 1:11:50Speaker 13: That's fine. Hey, I'm actually a second time called.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: Him the first time with the feral Paul.
- 1:11:55Speaker 13: Got his ticket in Virginia. But I've got two questions.
- 1:12:02Speaker 14: Two questions.
- 1:12:03Speaker 13: First question is I think I heard that jacobytt hasn't
- 1:12:06Speaker 13: thrown for over two hundred yards this season? Do you
- 1:12:08Speaker 13: think that Drake Big will throw over two hundred yards
- 1:12:11Speaker 13: in his first game?
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Yes? And then I do not know there's no fault
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: of his.
- 1:12:19Speaker 13: Is Jacoby Prissette still a team captain? And if so,
- 1:12:21Speaker 13: do you believe he should still be a team captain?
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: Yes, and yes?
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: What do you think to I think he's the epitome
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: of a captain?
- 1:12:30Speaker 14: To be honest, I think I think you should still
- 1:12:32Speaker 14: be a captain.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Yeah? And what about throwing for over two hundred yards?
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: What do you think?
- 1:12:38Speaker 13: Oh? Yeah, all day, I think we come out of empty,
- 1:12:41Speaker 13: and let Drake shake the nerves off off the rick,
- 1:12:43Speaker 13: start throwing the run.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Let's go, let's go, let's go. Team all right, thank way?
- 1:12:49Speaker 10: Well does the shut come off? Fred over two hundred
- 1:12:51Speaker 10: or what is like the parameters?
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: If he wins this game and plays really well, the
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: shirt comes all right?
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: Do you all agree? Yesterday?
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not taking my shirt.
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: I don't tek my shirt.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: I'll be scary, scary you're supposed to like the world.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: What do you do though, do you take it off
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: to your rally tallets?
- 1:13:09Speaker 16: Oh?
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: Yeah, you just throw it at one of these texts reporters.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: Like you're running on your you're running through the press spots,
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: waving it in the air. Absolutely, you run right out.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: Just be careful.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: They came right out into the concourse like that candy machine.
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: I guess if the game is close, I don't have
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: a lot of favor in that, like your faith. You know,
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: Jacobe piled up, you know a lot of yards and
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: those last two drives the other day, and I could
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: see maybe that happening in the fourth quarter, maybe behind
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: Apple scores and you get over two hundred yards that way?
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, chadding Atlanta, She says.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: Sure or something else. Okay, you're close.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: Chad Atlanta says, here he comes to save the you
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: know what that's from?
- 1:13:52Speaker 15: I do.
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: I'm looking at that Mighty Mouse.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Did watch your cartoons?
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: She's like what.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: Anyway, Chad says, I'm excited and nervous for the kid,
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: but I'm so relieved to be turning the page. Curious
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: to know if you think this was the plan all
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: along or that they kind of had to improvise due
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: to how bad the team has looked and how poor
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: the QB play has been.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: I have a take that I think they wanted to
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: play him maybe last week, and maybe David Andrews going
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: down made them put a pause on it, push it
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: back a week. I don't know.
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: That could be.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: I don't think they had a week in mind. I
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: think I think it was about Drake May. Yeah, when
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: they felt like Drake May was ready, but I could
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: see that if they wanted to do I.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Think after the San Francisco games, I think, I don't know,
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: maybe David Andrews went down and they looked at Miami
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: as a game maybe they could still win without having
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: to make that change and just let that be the
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: final mail in the coffin and it was but I
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: haven't really heard that floated around yet, but it was
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: just something I was thinking over the week.
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I just feel like the plan was to wait
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: until they felt like Drake May was ready. I don't think.
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: I think a lot of people are like, is the
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: plan expedited?
- 1:15:06Speaker 10: No?
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: But I think I think Alex's point he could they
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: might have thought he was ready last week, but because
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: Andrews went out.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think that there's a huge wrote
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: I wrote.
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: Last week that I would, you know, because I've been
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: wanting me to to start, But then I was like,
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: maybe not the first week of a new center, you know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: maybe would wait. But I just like there's been a
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: lot of talk about has the plan been adjusted or
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: why are they panicking? And I don't really I mean,
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: maybe I'm being naive. I don't think that's the case.
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: I think that the offense has struggled, and certainly, if
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: the offense wasn't struggling, you're going to give Prissett more
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: of a leash. But with the offense struggling, I think
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: it still would be if they didn't feel like Drake
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: May was at already. I think Prissett would still be
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: starting struggle or no.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: Travis is in West Virginia. Speaking of Peyton Manning, he says,
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: how do you feel about the King's Hawaiian rolls? I
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: can't get into them. I don't want my bread or
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: my pizza crust to be sweet. Evan probably loves them,
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: he has horrible tasting food. I like Kings Hawaiian. It's good.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: Depends on the meal.
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think like like.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: Like some barbecue, yes, those on Easter.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: You guys like potato bread.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Yes, Martin's Potato rolls. Sorry if they're not a sponsor.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: But I like bread. I don't like the heavy, thick,
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: dense bread. I like light bread, like to the push together.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: It shouldn't dominate.
- 1:16:35Speaker 10: But do you feel like the bread is the most
- 1:16:36Speaker 10: important part of a good sandwich? Like sometimes no, I
- 1:16:38Speaker 10: disagree with that now.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a fine line.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: There can't. It can't be too bready. It has to
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: be structured enough.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: It can ruin a sandwich.
- 1:16:48Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Sometimes you get the bread and it just falls apart.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: Yeah, Jersey Mice, We're still available. Come on, ah boy.
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: A lot of emails.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: Sometimes you get those subs from like you get like
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: an Italian place, Italian deli or something, and sometimes the
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: bread is really good, but it's kind of hard. Yeah,
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: I'm sure, and I have a hard time with it.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, with my false tooth.
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: Simon and Dublin. I love the show. Very excited to
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: see me get his first start at the weekend. Question
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: for Evan after yesterday's show. For someone who has never
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: played football before, could you explain the differences for a
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: quarterback between taking snaps under center in pistol or in
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: shotgun To the less knowledgeable, It doesn't seem like there
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: would be too much of a difference, but clearly there is.
- 1:17:34Speaker 10: Well, I think the biggest thing is turning your back
- 1:17:36Speaker 10: on the defense when you're under center.
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: You know, that's Pistol and shotgun are the same thing,
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: by the way, it's just a formation. But I think
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: you're back receiving this.
- 1:17:43Speaker 10: I mean, I think there's there's some nuance to the footwork.
- 1:17:45Speaker 10: Obviously receiving the snap. It's not just kind of popping
- 1:17:48Speaker 10: out to you, but having to turn your back on
- 1:17:51Speaker 10: the defense and then spin back around a play action.
- 1:17:53Speaker 10: Those kind of plays like it's you know, it's a
- 1:17:55Speaker 10: lot easier physically handling the snap. If you haven't done it,
- 1:17:58Speaker 10: can be a little bit of a us man. And
- 1:18:00Speaker 10: I don't think that Drake may has done a lot.
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: Of that now.
- 1:18:02Speaker 10: And we saw a lot of drills this summer specific,
- 1:18:04Speaker 10: I mean every every pretty much every practice, drilling those
- 1:18:07Speaker 10: kind of mechanics with your footwork of you know, getting
- 1:18:09Speaker 10: out from under center, you know, hitting that back foot
- 1:18:12Speaker 10: and being able to get the ball out. But it's
- 1:18:13Speaker 10: a lot easier when you're a shotgun pistol and you're
- 1:18:15Speaker 10: just staring at the defense the ball pops out, you know,
- 1:18:18Speaker 10: And but that also come you know, some disadvantage comes
- 1:18:20Speaker 10: with that too, because you know you have an under
- 1:18:22Speaker 10: center running game and all that kind.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: Of I used to laugh at the exchange, you know,
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: like Bill used to be sarcastic. We're just trying to
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: get the quarterback center exchange. I can as a dinosaur who,
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: like I didn't operate out of the shotgun when I
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: played one hundred years ago. I've been I've taken snaps
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: under center since I was like eight years old. Like,
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: I can't conceive of that being a difficult thing to
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: do well. These kids have never done it, and I've
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: completely changed myself.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: Some of these kids might be never done putting their
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: hands underneath another man's all he.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: Was doing at eight years old, never tak a right,
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: never bothered me.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: Never. Some of my best friends. I have my hands
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: under it, right, you remember it? You remember Stephen DeSantis,
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: some warm he's excellent, right beef just in cases listening, Stephen?
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: Why do you leave? His nickname was Beaver?
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: Do you want to share why.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: You drive it about? It was eight? It can't get
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: a little uncomfortable. I mean it's uh. Tom Brady famously
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: made a certain quarterback have a towel to wipe himself
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: because he was a big sweater, sweaty butt. He just
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: didn't like that.
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: Johnna, I'm going to shout out all my centers over
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: the years.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: Real solid.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: I mean you could, like even today, you could get
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: up with those guys. They'd bend over. You put the hand,
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: got John good good.
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: Like when they come in they boom, they get that hand.
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: So the center knows that my hand's here and they
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: really give him that you're supposed to back of the hand.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: You give it the tap right right? I can't tap one.
- 1:19:56Speaker 10: One thing I thought was interesting bringing up Bill again
- 1:19:59Speaker 10: was Billy Oh. Actually it was Billy Oh on Edelman's podcast,
- 1:20:02Speaker 10: and he said, I think when he first interviewed with
- 1:20:04Speaker 10: Bill for.
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: To work here, Bill's part was, show me how you.
- 1:20:07Speaker 10: Teach the snap, Like, show me how you teach the
- 1:20:09Speaker 10: under center snap. That's you know the kind of things
- 1:20:11Speaker 10: that that Bill would do.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: So it's ye little little thing.
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: Comes together, thumbs together, hands. Why why are you looking
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: at me like that?
- 1:20:21Speaker 15: I can.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: Soak it all.
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: Establish your hand. You say, I am ready to receive.
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: So I will tell you sophomore year, right, so you
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: always had like varsity JV right, and then you know
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: sometimes you know, you had to be out there with
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: like the secondary JV guys like the two's on JV
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: Vinnie Glatto. Oh, yeah, a little bit different. Taking the snap.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: One snapped it point first, like you didn't turn it.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: That hurts ouch. I'll tell you that hurts well.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: You wanted to turn it so it gets right in
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: your hand.
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: Right when you like when you send it ball, it's
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: like this, and then.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: You'll move it forward.
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: You turn it right, which by the way, was a
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: garbage call, I think. But anyway, we talked about that yesterday.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: We want to have this little turn when you.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: Turn the ball, so you you're giving the quarterback the
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: ball sideways. I mean, if you're really good at it,
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: you should have it so the laces are on your
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: on the fingers. This kid, Vinnie, did not turn the ball.
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: He just snapped it like point first. So the point
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: just came up and hammered me right, and I was.
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: Like, ah, I can't quarterback with this. The franchise is heard,
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: what do we do with? It's funny?
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Why what happens with the third string? GVT? No? Like
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: it was?
- 1:21:36Speaker 10: It was bad funny watching kids do flag football these days,
- 1:21:39Speaker 10: because they ain't going anywhere near it, but they're like,
- 1:21:40Speaker 10: you know, they kind of like allder and and they
- 1:21:43Speaker 10: hand it to the guy.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: Yeah yeah yeah, And you wonder why no one's comfortable
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: and more.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Back to Drake, Stephen Carmel, New York says, for me specifically,
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: just want to say thirteen and four is still on
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: the table.
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: Fred hasn't said that in a while. It's been two
- 1:22:02Speaker 4: years since you did that.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: I don't want to tease the fans, you know. Oh
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: hey uh. Kakar from Jacksonville writes in with Nico Collins
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: out well, Christian Gonzales shadow digs the whole game. I'm
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: strongly considering benching digs in fantasy. If that's the case, well,
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: I had.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: A lot of own I haven't seen Gonzales shadow anybody yet.
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: That's that's the big thing.
- 1:22:23Speaker 10: They've been playing a lot more zones, so you know
- 1:22:24Speaker 10: it's I mean, he might be on the side, and
- 1:22:27Speaker 10: but I think you know, there will be snaps for sure,
- 1:22:29Speaker 10: like probably I wouldn't mind seeing, but probably not.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: The whole game for it. But they haven't really been
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: doing it.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: I think this is the week ye for everything. This
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: is it we're going for.
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: I'd love to see tags frustrated. That'd be fun.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Let's go to Courtney in Houston. What's up? Courtney, Courtney,
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: Courtney Courtney. She's no longer the argon.
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: It's a fun Courtey's a fun Boston named to say.
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: The Boston is that?
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: Is that a Morgan Morgan, Adam and Louisiana wants to
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: know from Paul, would you be able to tell which
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: of your centers were snapping the ball if you were blindfold.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Yeah, he would just smell their.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: I could probably tell the difference between John Shanna and
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: somebody else because that's a big buttoks. He did, he did,
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: But that's probably the guy that your hands getting.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Sweeted go based off the smelly you're.
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: Huh having a brain cramp. I don't remember who the
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: center was my senior year. He probably show was a
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: year older than me.
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: He blacked out that the whole senior year was kind
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: of a purple haze. Traumatic Ian Fallon says, we make
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: little Turkey and Chief sliders on Kings Hawaiian. They're always
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: a big hitted picnics and outdoor events.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: It's really nice and easy because you can just get
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: the whole little bag of them and just put it
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: right across.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: Oh really, it's like a TikTok social media thing.
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: Thirty Sandwiches, once Right.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: And Steve seeing Southie Armis says, I love the pick segment.
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: Look forward to your picks every week.
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: Thanks Dave.
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: People rely on me.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: They want to know who not to pick.
- 1:24:11Speaker 10: I don't like.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: The show, just go do something else.
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: It is a good way to end.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: I go to box two minutes, feel shame with my picks?
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: Oh really that was for you terrible. That's not like you, Paul.
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: Necessarily this week, but for the season I'm in the
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: last place.
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: Richard says, the problem with the pick segment is that
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: you all just say a bunch of jargon.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, that's the points.
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: That to folks who do not gamble, makes no sense.
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: So it'd be better if you had a graphic on
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: the YouTube stream or whiteboard that track what each person
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: picked and also tries to explain what it all means.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: But then we'd have to be accountable.
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: I know, well, where are someone accountable?
- 1:24:46Speaker 10: But I feel like this is going to trigger Fred
- 1:24:47Speaker 10: now today, and he's going to be all up in
- 1:24:49Speaker 10: his uh what are the sharp snow and chalk, and
- 1:24:52Speaker 10: you know, all his little so on.
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: The very few people that don't like the picks contest
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: don't like it because of you.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Yeah right, that's okay, it's the we from Wisconsin says
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: hating the picks is crazy? How else am I supposed
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: to learn accurate betting parlance?
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: That's goods the show.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: Every virlin. Everyone's now writing in Paul and the Colony
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: in New York love the pics. Keep it up. When's
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: the newsletter email coming out? Alex? What's the deal?
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: I got a bunch of potential segments to send you guys.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: Okay, but when's it coming out? Come on?
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: Well, considering I just found out I'm in charge of this,
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: I don't know last week?
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: Move quick?
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: Well, doesn't it come out Fridays?
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: Is it every Friday?
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: Supposed to every Friday?
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: Every Friday?
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: But you didn't say you wanted to start. I didn't
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: know if you want to start this week. I thought
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: we were doing the draft.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: I want to start next season, let's go.
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: I was under the impression we were doing a draft
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: this week, seeing how we liked it. Okay, and then
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: next week we want it.
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: I want to know when the first one's coming out.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: Evan's here.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: Has turned practice?
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: Van has wen?
- 1:26:07Speaker 9: Has we turned practice?
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: Tennessee?
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: All right, Evan? Before we get into what you saw yesterday,
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: jiud Mayo made a comment about how this team is
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: familiar with the Houston defense. Do you know what he's
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: talking about?
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: Yeah, so we were good you would.
- 1:26:25Speaker 7: We were actually just talking about this when we Alex
- 1:26:28Speaker 7: and I when we were walking here, because all we
- 1:26:29Speaker 7: do is talk talk.
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: About Connor mcderway.
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:33Speaker 7: So so many teams now are just like playing the
- 1:26:36Speaker 7: same offense or defense. So I'm just telling him four
- 1:26:40Speaker 7: weeks in a row. Now it's the same offensive system
- 1:26:43Speaker 7: from the Jets to the Niners, to the Dolphins to
- 1:26:46Speaker 7: now the Houston Texans, all Shanahan style West Coast, all
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: of them defensively. The forty nine Ers and the Jets
- 1:26:54Speaker 7: are all Seattle three disciple teams, along with this Houston
- 1:26:58Speaker 7: Texans team with Damiko Ryans, who obviously it comes from
- 1:27:00Speaker 7: the forty nine Ers in Kyle Shanahan, so pat and
- 1:27:04Speaker 7: the back.
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:27:05Speaker 7: So it's it's really this league is becoming really predictable,
- 1:27:09Speaker 7: like everybody runs kind of the same base stuff and
- 1:27:12Speaker 7: it's just sort of we were talking about it because
- 1:27:14Speaker 7: it's a segway into practice. Kyle Dugger was back at
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: practice today. I believe last week Kyle Dugger also practiced
- 1:27:22Speaker 7: on Thursday. Thursday is a big third down day for
- 1:27:26Speaker 7: them defensively, which is really when the game plan stuff
- 1:27:29Speaker 7: comes in, because first and second down is just your
- 1:27:32Speaker 7: base stuff for the most part. You know, you'll have
- 1:27:35Speaker 7: your matchups and things like that that are game plan specific,
- 1:27:38Speaker 7: but you're not reinventing the wheel so much on first
- 1:27:40Speaker 7: and second down. So if he has a chance to
- 1:27:43Speaker 7: play in the game on Sunday. Then you need him
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: to know what's going on on third down and what
- 1:27:46Speaker 7: their plan is against the Texans. So Kyle Duger was
- 1:27:50Speaker 7: back at practice. Ormandre Stevenson still missing from practice. He
- 1:27:54Speaker 7: has not been there the last two days. So that's
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: not trending in a great direction. And then a couple
- 1:27:59Speaker 7: guys in the practice squad also we're in president Tristan Hill,
- 1:28:03Speaker 7: Jack west Over, the tight end that they added is
- 1:28:06Speaker 7: is still not practicing and currently so good and bad
- 1:28:10Speaker 7: news as always.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: So Remandre must have been a pretty bad bruise to
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: that ship.
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: Well it's listed as a it's listed as.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: In media after that game he said he took a
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: helmet to the calf.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: Calf.
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: Yeah, so now they're listening to it as a foot injury.
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: And for what it's worth, he is not. I haven't
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: seen him, Like, he hasn't been in locker room, open,
- 1:28:32Speaker 7: locker room, he hasn't been out of practice. Uh So
- 1:28:35Speaker 7: I don't know what's going on with that situation, but
- 1:28:38Speaker 7: like I said, not training in the right direction. So
- 1:28:41Speaker 7: Kevin Harris, Trel Jennings on the practice squad, I would say,
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: you know, attention goes to those two guys potentially for elevations,
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: uh if m Andre can't go. But those those are
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: the only two guys that weren't participants yesterday, so they're
- 1:28:56Speaker 7: relatively healthy.
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: Let's see, it's a about fifty eight degrees out, yes,
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: How how are guys dressed?
- 1:29:05Speaker 18: Was?
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: You know, usually the colder it is, the less they dress.
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: When it gets really hot, they wear the hoodies.
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: Taking on, taking notes, taking notes about well.
- 1:29:12Speaker 7: The big the big thing is that they're in the
- 1:29:14Speaker 7: throwback helmets. So a lot of very very cool swag
- 1:29:19Speaker 7: with the throwback helmets. They got the visors going and
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: with the throwbacks, it's a cool it's a good look.
- 1:29:25Speaker 7: It's a good look.
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: I like white helmets. Yeah, helmets are nice.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:29:28Speaker 7: I saw Kishan Boody, Kendrick Bourne. They were wearing the
- 1:29:32Speaker 7: visors and it looks like.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Like okay bad as Yeah, okay, yeah. But they're not
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: in pads today.
- 1:29:37Speaker 7: No pads, No, no pads, pads Wednesdays, no pads on
- 1:29:40Speaker 7: on Thursdays. So they're they're in the soft shoulder pads.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: Was there a lot of grumbling, grousing, complaining about the
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: new NFLPA rule because we talked about that earlier.
- 1:29:54Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's an interesting one. I do think that
- 1:29:59Speaker 7: I do think the Beat is trying to work with
- 1:30:02Speaker 7: the players genuinely, Like I don't think that it's nefarious
- 1:30:06Speaker 7: on either side that they're trying to dodge it or
- 1:30:09Speaker 7: anything like that. I just think that finding the right
- 1:30:12Speaker 7: places to do it is going to be the key
- 1:30:15Speaker 7: moving forward. But there are players that have asked me
- 1:30:18Speaker 7: to have asked everybody, Hey, can we go outside? Can
- 1:30:21Speaker 7: we do this outside?
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: Step outside?
- 1:30:23Speaker 7: Yeah, even if it's you, it's interesting, okay.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: And because of that, how was the mood Jesus.
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: Well, you do need to do?
- 1:30:38Speaker 16: Yesterday was a disaster, which I know we already who
- 1:30:41Speaker 16: covered it opous notes about how how Fred grills Evan
- 1:30:45Speaker 16: And it also like took me like I was off
- 1:30:47Speaker 16: my game because it just wasn't the same.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: He threw everything out of whack.
- 1:30:51Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah he did. No, it was a little lighter contingent,
- 1:30:58Speaker 7: I would say definitely then, yes, but certain even we
- 1:31:01Speaker 7: like lost people along the way. So I think you
- 1:31:04Speaker 7: know AVP spoke earlier. That's obviously a big news item
- 1:31:08Speaker 7: right now is what he had to say about Drake
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: may Jacobe spoke in a scrum outside the locker room today.
- 1:31:15Speaker 7: So I think a lot of people broke off to
- 1:31:17Speaker 7: go do you know, write those things up instead of
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: come out to practice.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: So Mike Took did those great, great job for good
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: questions and I make it look easy, right.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: And you know what else is easy? Bud Light. It's
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Bud Light is the
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: official sponsor of beer. Sponsor, I should say of the
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: New England Patriots. And you know, before we get into
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: these picks, I just want to let people know that
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: the long fall I day fall a day weekend. I
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: guess yesterday is almost here, and you can get ready
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: for the epic Patriots Texans matchup by hosting a cozy
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: watch party with Bob's Discount furniture party ready dining sets
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: for your game day snacks, relaxing reclining sectionals for your
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: cheering section, Bible pedic mattresses to dream about the next game.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: These are all questions. Apparently, when you shop the Bob's
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: Dare to Compare Challenge, you'll find everything you need and
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: all for way less than the competition. So stop in
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: and see how much you can say when you Dare
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: to Compare with Bob's Discount Furniture, the official furniture store
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: of the New England Patriots.
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: Okay, have on the the open today included sort of
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: a little back and forth and you and I immediately
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: sort of jumping ugly on Mike like it was a
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: little early with the mood.
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: Question too, what do we Why are you railroading me
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: back there? Jules?
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: I was good. It was part of the open, so
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: it was nice to see. But you know, Mike's not
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: an error repeater. He's taking notes today and he was
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: making sure that the next time it's the pepe and
- 1:32:48Speaker 4: the deuce.
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: Well, well, well that.
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: Needs to be a work we need to all right,
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: it's that time of the week. So Paul, what happened
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: last week? All right?
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean my stay at the top was short lived.
- 1:33:09Speaker 4: Fred just continues to set the pace at ten and four. Well, listen,
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: you know, fie ten and four because we had some
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: we had some buys last week. Mike, it's gonna need
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: you to keep up pick all the games, okay, Mike
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: and Alex nine and five, followed by Evan and Paul
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: at eight and six. So I am back in the basement.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: With the spread.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: Fred and Mike eight five and one, followed by Paul
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: at seven six and one, Alex at six seven and one,
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: and Evan at five eight and one. So season standings,
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: Fred and Alex forty five and thirty three, Paul forty
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: four and thirty four, disgustingly in third place. I'm not
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: happy with that, Mike and Evan forty two and thirty six.
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: I'm even more disgusted at myself with a spread. Fred
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: forty two, thirty three and three. That's a very solid
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: record with the number.
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: Wow, Listen, you know that's not tough for species.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: Alex forty thirty five and three, also a very solid
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: record with the number making money Evan Mike thirty nine,
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: thirty six and three. You guys are making money. And
- 1:34:24Speaker 4: the one anchor of the show Paul thirty seven, thirty
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: eight and three.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: I don't know people.
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: I don't have a feel for the league. I don't
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: have all all right. You know what's killing me in
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: all seriousness. I keep picking games where I'm on an island,
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: you know, like you guys all pick one thing and
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: I'm the other and I'm coming so close to winning,
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: but I just can't win them. I had Cincinnati last week.
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: That's where the field comes from.
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: I mean, they're up by ten with five minutes left
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: in the game, and they go to overtime. They have
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: a field goal overtime and the jackass holder drops the ball.
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: It's like I just can't win. No, I just pick
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: last place is last place, fred No teams are all teams.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: By this week. Chiefs, Rams, Dolphins, and Vikings are not
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: playing this week, So just your fantasy team accordingly. All right,
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: Tonight on Prime Video eight fifteen, the two and three
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: forty nine Ers are at the three and two Seahawks.
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: Good game, then Winers by three and a half. The
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: suddenly reeling Niners, by the way.
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: Yeah, since Seattle lost last week too, didn't they?
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: Yes, they lost the Giants.
- 1:35:30Speaker 10: Yeah, that's a home man two teams. Usually I picked
- 1:35:32Speaker 10: Seattle up.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: Sorry, did you have the San Francisco by three and
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: a half. Oh hey, just to let you go a
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: lot of road favorites this week, just.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: This week.
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: Yeah, usually I go with Seattle at home.
- 1:35:45Speaker 10: I like them there, but tough to pick them after
- 1:35:47Speaker 10: loosening to the freaking Danny Dimes without Malik Nabbers, I'm
- 1:35:51Speaker 10: going to take the forty Niners, and I will lay
- 1:35:53Speaker 10: the points.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: I'm going to take the Niners to win. I'm going
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: to give Seattle the points at home.
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: Oh the hoof?
- 1:36:00Speaker 7: Yeah, thinking with my guy going Niners nine Ers Brock
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: party three and oh did you just say he's your
- 1:36:07Speaker 7: guy the character?
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: Yeah, So I think Alex has it right. I think
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: San Francisco will find a way.
- 1:36:15Speaker 9: To win the games.
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: Then, just kidding, I'm just kidding.
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: I have to remove my TJ readers. I think that
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: San Francisco will win because they own the Seahawks. But
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: I like the hook. I'm going to take the hook.
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: This is a tough one. The sharps know something because,
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: like you said, both teams aren't, you know, playing that
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: well Seahawks losing to the Giants was huge, But yet
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: they give the forty nine ers the points in this
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: game going on the road, So they know something. And
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: this is where you gotta go with what the sharps say,
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: and you go with what you go with the forty
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: nine ers to win the game and cover. Okay, all right,
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: they're telling you, they're giving you clues. They're giving you clues.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: All right, now we moved here.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: All took San Francisco, and you're trying to convince you.
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: I think he just went direct to Cameron now On too.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: Now we go to Sunday morning, nine thirty from London,
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: the one and four Jaguars against the three and two Bears.
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: Chicago by two and a half.
- 1:37:20Speaker 10: It's another interesting game here, Jacksonville trying to climb back
- 1:37:24Speaker 10: out of the doghouse.
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: We talked a lot about them.
- 1:37:26Speaker 10: They are at home, though, aren't they Jacksonville technic technically yeah, yeah.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: Well no, technically Bears are at home.
- 1:37:32Speaker 10: And yet Jacksonville plays all their games in London. I'm
- 1:37:34Speaker 10: gonna just go with Jacksonville and I will take those points.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: Is it technically a Bears home game?
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: So yes, it is?
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: Yep, ye, I took Jacksonville.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: What were the points, pulsar Chicago by two and a half?
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, all right, so I'll take Jacksonville plus two
- 1:37:47Speaker 5: and a half.
- 1:37:48Speaker 15: Please.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: I kind of like the upset there too, Okay.
- 1:37:54Speaker 7: I don't care for the scheduling by the league. No,
- 1:37:57Speaker 7: So the Jaguars are in London two weeks in a row.
- 1:38:00Speaker 7: The Patriots have to go to London next Thursday in
- 1:38:03Speaker 7: the middle of the week, and then play a game
- 1:38:05Speaker 7: on Sunday and then no bye after London. Patriot's getting
- 1:38:09Speaker 7: shafted in that one.
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: Well, I believe they did not request to buy after London.
- 1:38:12Speaker 7: Well that is information I did not have.
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: Isn't that what they told us?
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they didn't.
- 1:38:19Speaker 7: But I don't like it.
- 1:38:20Speaker 4: Yeah, because you do have an option to request to
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: buy after an international game, and I believe the Patriots
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: opted not to do that.
- 1:38:27Speaker 7: But I'm assuming Jacksonville is staying there.
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, who I would assume.
- 1:38:31Speaker 7: That so little. Don't really care for that. Oh you're
- 1:38:34Speaker 7: taking into advantage Chicago.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: But suddenly it's it's it's twenty eighteen, and it's all
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: about the Roger Goodol hating Patriots.
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: There for two weeks.
- 1:38:43Speaker 10: They like, bring their own food kind of stuff, Like
- 1:38:45Speaker 10: I would imagine that's one thing that would throw some
- 1:38:46Speaker 10: of the team off, like me, like not being out
- 1:38:48Speaker 10: of my routine and not Yeah you know, I mean
- 1:38:49Speaker 10: it's hard when we were in Germany to like me,
- 1:38:51Speaker 10: would you take.
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: A bunch of Jersey miss?
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: I would?
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: I would think that I was going to bring up
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: the five guys in Germany.
- 1:38:55Speaker 10: How we know that was like God sent at that
- 1:38:57Speaker 10: point and I just I wonder what about the food
- 1:38:59Speaker 10: while you're there.
- 1:39:00Speaker 7: Guys are so cultured, so it is it is strange.
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: I'm with you, guys. I'm want to take Jacksonville.
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: For anthropology Jacksonville.
- 1:39:09Speaker 4: Oh, hold on, Caleb Williams, I'm riding with them. So yeah,
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: I like what they're doing. I just feel like Jacksonville
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: might be a little bit more and I think they
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: have a chance to to maybe keep it going.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: Yeah in London, You're right, Paul, Jacksonville wins. But you know,
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: I love I I kind of like this schedule, Evan,
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: because Jacksonville is going to be in London all that time.
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: And you know how it was when we did those
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: two games and preseason on the road. By the time
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: you can get to the end, like.
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: Down playing for the for the Jags, the players.
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: Just want to get the hell out of there, you know,
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: like you've been away from home that long.
- 1:39:46Speaker 4: Actually, So I like that.
- 1:39:48Speaker 7: I like the that's how we got the Jacobe Meyers
- 1:39:50Speaker 7: laterals not to bring up bad times, No, it's true,
- 1:39:53Speaker 7: and you know it'sn't it.
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: The Remondree lateral, all right?
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: That game is on NFL Network, by the way, One
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: o'clock on Sunday now on CBS, the four and one
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: Commanders are at the three and two Ravens.
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: Who would have thought this would be one of the
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: games of the week, right, and it is Ravens by
- 1:40:16Speaker 4: six and a half.
- 1:40:17Speaker 10: Who boy, you know, if it was still Mike McDonald
- 1:40:20Speaker 10: and Baltimore, I might say that I thought they'd have
- 1:40:23Speaker 10: something for Jayden and Daniels.
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: But I think Baltimore is gonna win the game.
- 1:40:27Speaker 10: But that's a lot of points and I think Jadan
- 1:40:29Speaker 10: Daniels can score, So I'll take the points for Washington.
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, do the same way Mike did.
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: I was gonna take Baltimore both ways. You guys are
- 1:40:38Speaker 7: swaying a little. I just think this might be finally
- 1:40:40Speaker 7: the game where a much more complete team in Baltimore
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: kind of shows Washington up. So I'm gonna go Baltimore,
- 1:40:47Speaker 7: but I'll take the points for Washington.
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: Just so you know, ev I've been going with that
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: theory for a couple of weeks now, and you can
- 1:40:53Speaker 4: see where I reside in the standings when it comes
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: to Washington. But I'm gonna do it again. I'm gonna
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: take Baltimore to win. I will take the points, though,
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: I think Mike's point about Daniels this is what three
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: weeks in a row now is really lit it up.
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: So Ravens defense isn't right. I saw Kyle Hamilton had
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: a lot of critical things to say about him and
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: his group today, So I'll take the points.
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: Much like the forty nine Ers game, the Sharps are
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: giving you what they call a sign post game.
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: Is that what the Sharp's call it?
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and this is why they don't like the sec.
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: This is the jargon.
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: This is sign post game. You want to take the
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: Ravens both ways. In this game, they're giving you a clue. Fox.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: At one o'clock on Sunday, the two and three Cardinals
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: are at the three and two Packers.
- 1:41:40Speaker 4: Packers by five and a half m.
- 1:41:44Speaker 10: There's some Yeah, not everything great in green Bay right now,
- 1:41:48Speaker 10: there's some tension there. But you know what, I'd love
- 1:41:51Speaker 10: green Bay. I like him at home.
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: I don't love Kyler Murray outside and it gets a
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: little cold.
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:41:57Speaker 10: I'm gonna take green Bay lay the points.
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna take green Bay to win. I'm gonna split
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: it though.
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: That's probably smart.
- 1:42:06Speaker 7: I wish I did that Yeah'm gonna do the same
- 1:42:08Speaker 7: thing because the Cardinals have been pretty competitive in most
- 1:42:10Speaker 7: of their games, so I don't think it's gonna be
- 1:42:12Speaker 7: a big deficit. But I'll take Green Bay at Lambo.
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: Yeah. I'm not a believer in the Packers, but I
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: am going to take them, and I'm going to agree
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: with Mike because I think the Cardinals are different outside
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: than Kyler Murray in particular Lambeau. I'm gonna lay the
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: point green.
- 1:42:26Speaker 7: Bay there yet probably short people.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Evan and Alex are correct. In fact,
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: this is your spread lock of the week. But the
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: Packers win, but the Cardinals cover, So there you go.
- 1:42:45Speaker 3: Take the money.
- 1:42:46Speaker 10: Line saying words, it's.
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: A word salad.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: Sunday at one on Fox, the three and two Buccaneers
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: are at the two and three Saints.
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: Bucks by three and a half. No, Derek Carr correct.
- 1:43:02Speaker 5: Correct, correct, it's what was that story?
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: Was this three and a half three in a box
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: by th Bucks by three and a half? Bucks?
- 1:43:11Speaker 5: Jesus flipped.
- 1:43:13Speaker 10: Yeah, I don't think Jay Canren get it done. I
- 1:43:15Speaker 10: know there's a tough place to play, but Baker Mayfield's
- 1:43:17Speaker 10: played there before and I think he'll be all right,
- 1:43:19Speaker 10: So I'm gonna take the Bucks and I'll lay the.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: Points Bucks Bucks.
- 1:43:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I can do the same. I think Jake Canner
- 1:43:25Speaker 7: is a little feisty, but not not feisty enough.
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: Yeah. I'm gonna take the Bucks both ways without without
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: car Baker Bakes.
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: It's a better league with him Buccaneers both ways. Sunday
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: at one on Fox, the one in four Browns are
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: at the two and two Eagles.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: Eagles by nine and a half and the biggest spread
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: of the week.
- 1:43:47Speaker 10: Den Bye, I believe man. It just seems like things
- 1:43:51Speaker 10: are bad in Cleveland. They want to make a quarterback switch.
- 1:43:53Speaker 10: They can't.
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: I don't really understand.
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: Jameis Winston hilarious though. Have you seen any.
- 1:43:58Speaker 7: Lac ws on the sideline?
- 1:44:00Speaker 10: The funniest I just I saw like a super cut
- 1:44:02Speaker 10: of him being ridiculous, and I just he cracks me up.
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: He's hilarious. But I think Philadelphia blows doors.
- 1:44:07Speaker 10: I'm gonna take Philly and I'm actually gonna play those
- 1:44:08Speaker 10: all nine and a half of them.
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: Philly, Philly, Bhillylly.
- 1:44:14Speaker 7: This is a Dad Survivor Pool pick of the week.
- 1:44:17Speaker 7: O Eagles, oh oh over the Browns.
- 1:44:20Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:44:20Speaker 7: He's in first place, he has one strike, he's doing
- 1:44:23Speaker 7: pretty well. I'm gonna go Brown Eagles, Eagles.
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna take Eagles Eagles. Also, I just Cleveland
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: just can't get out of its own way. It's something
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: broken there. And it's more than just Watson. There's something wrong. Yeah.
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: Yeah. The feeling I'm getting from the league is that
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: the Eagles win, but they don't cover. Okay, so I.
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: Will Freddy's going. So I don't really.
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: Get the whole feel for the league.
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: No, Like Watson's like, Watson's been bad, right, and he's
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: throwing for like he's like perset. He throwing for like
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: one hundred and twenty five yards every game. Like, why
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: can't you you're paying them anyway, why does he have
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: to play?
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: And it's not like you're saving money by playing them,
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: you're losing games. Make a change if you want to
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: make a change, good money after bad or something like that.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: Okay, CBS at one o'clock two and three. Colts are
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: at the one in three Titans.
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: So this spread actually point.
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: Where we have to start rooting for some of these
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: one win teams.
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: This spread kind of surprise me. Tennessee by two and
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: a half.
- 1:45:24Speaker 10: And who is quarterback for these Tennessee Titans.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: I think Levi is still out there all right?
- 1:45:31Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, that's tough one. I mean divisional matchup, tite one.
- 1:45:35Speaker 10: I used to like Tennessee, but variable's not there anymore.
- 1:45:37Speaker 10: I'm going with Colts on the road plus two and
- 1:45:41Speaker 10: a half.
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: I'm going to reluctantly take the home team that's Tens.
- 1:45:51Speaker 7: I'm going to take the Colts too, upset on the road.
- 1:45:54Speaker 7: I don't like either of these teams.
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: This is one. Yeah, I'm with you guys.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: I'm going to take any I'm going to take the
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: Colts too.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: But I like the Fred thing Warrious like what like.
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: I just feel like the Colts are significantly better than
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: the Titans. But I guess they're not right. There's been
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: a few because the spread wouldn't be like this, But
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: I'll take the Colts.
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: Is there's somebody hurt that we don't know about, very possibly.
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: It's like baby, you know, Richardson's been hurt. I don't
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: know if.
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: He's been hurt.
- 1:46:20Speaker 7: He's going to play.
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: Oh he's playing, I think so I feel less good
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: feel his Joe. Yeah, I thought he lived it up
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: last week. Yeah, like thirty four on the board. I'll
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: take the Colts anywhere.
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: I'm going to take the Colts both ways as well. Well,
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: they're not favorites, so I don't have to say both ways, right.
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: But you will anyway just to confuse people and have
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: some people not like this. IM all right.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: Now, we're going to skip over the Patriots at one
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: o'clock and we'll move to the four or five game
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: on CBS. The two and two Chargers are at the
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: three and two Broncos.
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: It's got an interesting defense they got there in Denver
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: Chargers by two and a half. This is another one
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: of those road favorites.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: I was talking to you guys about Bully Boy, so
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: Herbert still banged up fighting through it, right, Yeah, this
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: is a tough.
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: One, man.
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: I mean, I'm gonna go with Denver at home. I
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: don't know they.
- 1:47:08Speaker 10: I mean, everybody's all up in Patrick's certain these days,
- 1:47:11Speaker 10: and bo Nicks is putting out Fairest Bueller videos.
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: So I'm gonna take I'm gonna take the Mancos at home.
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: You don't have to mention that they're at home, because
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: they're always at home.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: Did you ever learn that from Ferris Bueller videos like uh,
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: Peyton said he's got a little Ferris Bueller in Him's
- 1:47:25Speaker 4: actually created.
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: Yeah, do you know what?
- 1:47:29Speaker 7: I know it it is. I just don't really, it's fantastic.
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: You know that.
- 1:47:34Speaker 7: One of course, I gotta ask, we weren't you guys?
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: He doesn't like Johns and you've never seen it.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: Well, Josh doesn't hold up.
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: Josh too doesn't hold up.
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: Is not good. But where's the shark? It was great?
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: You got Alex, I got this. This is tempting me.
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with Denver.
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: Why not.
- 1:47:54Speaker 5: Come to the dog side, b Nicks.
- 1:47:57Speaker 7: I'm gonna go Denver as well. That defense is playing fantastic.
- 1:48:01Speaker 7: Patrick Surtan probably the defensive player of the year at
- 1:48:04Speaker 7: this point of the season. So I'm gonna go with Denver.
- 1:48:06Speaker 7: I think they do it again.
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: I agree. I've been very impressed with the Broncos defense
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: back to back, you know, completely shutting down teams. I'm
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: gonna take the Chargers. Coming off to buy, I think
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: maybe Herbert's a little bit healthier with some rest. I'll
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: take the Chargers.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: I got a crush and it's an orange. I'm taking
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: the Bronco.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: I'm gonna break out the Mecklenburg shared I.
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: Might hopefully wear those again.
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: Taking the Broncos.
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: Uh four five on CBS, Now, that's a game the
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: Chargers will lose on the last play of the game.
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: That's an Islands game, and I'll lose it, like in
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: excruciating fashion.
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: Four five CBS to three and two Steelers are at
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: the two and three Raiders.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: I stink Pittsburgh by three.
- 1:48:51Speaker 10: So when you scream out in agony, I'll know a
- 1:48:54Speaker 10: red zone what I had that one. I was off
- 1:48:57Speaker 10: on myself, all right, So this Pittsburgh Vegas, that's what
- 1:49:01Speaker 10: we're wrong.
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: Yes, Pittsburgh by three, Pittsburgh by three. Oh god, this
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: is tough.
- 1:49:07Speaker 10: And I know uh Russell Wilson is getting back into
- 1:49:10Speaker 10: the mix, but I'll go with Pittsburgh. I'll go with
- 1:49:12Speaker 10: Pittsburgh on the road. I struggle to pick the Raiders.
- 1:49:14Speaker 10: I just I feel like they're in chaos.
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: And it'd O'Connell this week.
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:49:18Speaker 5: I don't think they want to admit, like how sideways.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: Raiders blew that they announced it.
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: To prepare They're like, who's it Gardner, Minshew, right, no
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: call it? Please tell us our preparation depends on that Pittsburgh.
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: Pittsburgh.
- 1:49:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm taking Pittsburgh. Do you I distressed their defense
- 1:49:33Speaker 7: more than anything else in this game, But it does
- 1:49:35Speaker 7: sound like Russell Wilson's breathing down justin Fields's neck and
- 1:49:39Speaker 7: another l could be unlimited and he did.
- 1:49:43Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: Actually it was a full participant, which I hadn't realized
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: because I think I said to Matt on the pregame
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: show last week that he was healthy. I guess he
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: hadn't been fully healthy. I think he could have been
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: playing the last couple of weeks. But now he's a
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: full participant.
- 1:49:57Speaker 10: It just got to be a bummer because as a fan,
- 1:49:59Speaker 10: I would want the younger Fields. We got like we
- 1:50:01Speaker 10: you know, we rescued him, and now it's like when
- 1:50:03Speaker 10: we're going back to the guy who's probably gonna be more.
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Pittsburgh. I don't have a lot of
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: faith in it though.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: This is Yeah, my guts said Raiders. I'm gonna stick
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: with it. My brain says Steelers, but I'm gonna go
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: with my significant guts.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: Is one of your Island Games.
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: Four twenty five on Fox, The three and two Falcons
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: are at the one and four Panthers.
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: You like that.
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: Falcons by six, Falcons by six.
- 1:50:34Speaker 10: Yeah, that that that sounds about right to me. They
- 1:50:37Speaker 10: got their little bump from Andy Dalton and then they
- 1:50:39Speaker 10: fell back. I'm gonna take Atlanta.
- 1:50:40Speaker 5: I'll lay the points.
- 1:50:41Speaker 7: Retweet, Yeah, Atlanta, Atlanta. I think Atlanta is kind of
- 1:50:45Speaker 7: rolling now a little bit.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: Yeah. You know they had the mini buy as well,
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: so I'll lay. I'll lay the points too. Falcons, me too.
- 1:50:52Speaker 3: Falcons four to twenty five. On Fox, the three and
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: one Lions are at the three and two Cowboys.
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: This would be probably the game of the week at
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: Lions by three on the road.
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: Three on the roads. Fun game.
- 1:51:08Speaker 10: I guess this will be in the It's for twenty five,
- 1:51:11Speaker 10: so we'll get we'll get that in the post game show.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: That'll be good.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: This will be a focus of red zone.
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: Paul.
- 1:51:16Speaker 10: Yeah, that's a good game. Uh, you know, I'm gonna go.
- 1:51:19Speaker 10: I'm gonna go Dallas at home and I'll take I'll
- 1:51:21Speaker 10: take those points in the tight one sucker.
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: Yeah. Now, I'm gonna do it. Making We'll see you
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: next week. Fred, who's right and who's wrong.
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: I'll take Detroit to win I'll take Dallas to cover
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: at home.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: What was the line? Three?
- 1:51:39Speaker 7: Three? Yeah, I'm gonna take Detroit both both ways. I
- 1:51:42Speaker 7: don't think all is right in Jerry world. There's it
- 1:51:45Speaker 7: smells down there.
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: Injuries, you know what Bill Belichick?
- 1:51:49Speaker 7: Oh, I like that?
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: What does what does that smell like?
- 1:51:53Speaker 5: Kind of like he doesn't wear? Oh I did hear
- 1:51:58Speaker 5: that story too? Building?
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: Yeah, we're that's good. Yeah, it'll man. I will take
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: the Lions both ways as well. I think they're first
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: of all, I think they're better, but I also think
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: Micah Parsons is Lawrence back for Dallas DeMarcus Lawrence. Yeah,
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: they're struggling. I agree with Evan. I think there's something
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: wrong there.
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: America's team, the Detroit Lions, wins the game.
- 1:52:20Speaker 7: That's fair.
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: Yeah, all right. We go to eight twenty on Sunday
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: night on NBC Universo, te Lexito's and Oh Peacock right
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: the cord Cutters. Yeah, one in four Bengals are at
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: the two and three Giants.
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: Cincinnati by three and a half.
- 1:52:46Speaker 10: Oh boy, yeah, that's I think I feel kind of
- 1:52:48Speaker 10: good about this one. I'm gonna take Cincinnati and I
- 1:52:51Speaker 10: will lay those points.
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take Cincy both ways too, but damn
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: if they don't win this game, we'll haul it.
- 1:52:59Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm gonna take I don't think neighbors are going
- 1:53:02Speaker 7: to play in this game again, it doesn't sound like
- 1:53:05Speaker 7: and so the Giants can be on Sunday Night football,
- 1:53:08Speaker 7: but the Patriots can't be on Sunday night football. That's
- 1:53:10Speaker 7: that's what I gott some scripes with the league right now.
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: I don't complain.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: Hey, we get a nice early, nice guy.
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: He's got like fourteen one o'clocks in a row and
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: he's complaining. I will take Cincinnati to win the game,
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: but I'm going to take the hook that Bengals defense
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: is wretchedly bad. I have a hard time laying a
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: lot of points, but I'll take the Bengals to win,
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: Giants to cover.
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: I will take the Giants winning outright, ready, So there
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: you go, f the Bengals.
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: Gonna say I hate Cincinnati.
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: Monday Night, eight fifteen, ESPN, ESPN two, ESPN Deportes. The
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: three and two Bills close against the two and three Jets.
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: Buffalo by two and a half.
- 1:54:00Speaker 10: Man, that's a I'm gonna take Buffalo to win this one.
- 1:54:04Speaker 10: I mean, the Jets seem like they're search of Francis.
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: Although new head coach, the new head coach, but it's.
- 1:54:11Speaker 10: Not gonna be enough. Ara gets it done. Buffalo lay
- 1:54:14Speaker 10: the points.
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: I think so too, Buffalo, Buffalo.
- 1:54:19Speaker 7: The new coach thing is throwing me off a little bit.
- 1:54:21Speaker 7: Usually you do get that, but it's still the Jets.
- 1:54:25Speaker 7: But I think I'm gonna take Buffalo, mainly because they've
- 1:54:27Speaker 7: lost two in a row and I think they have
- 1:54:29Speaker 7: to get right game. Yeah, I get themselves right. So
- 1:54:31Speaker 7: I'm gonna take Buffalo. Yeah, I'll take Buffalo both ways,
- 1:54:36Speaker 7: rights two and a half.
- 1:54:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I am too. I'm not feeling great
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: about it though, three road games in a row. They
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: look like they're tired. Buffalo doesn't, you know, like Fred's
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: closing window theory aside, they they don't look good, But
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: I'll take Buffalo. I think the Jets offense is a
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: little bit too.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know why. You know exactly what Salah
- 1:55:00Speaker 3: was doing to have been fired other than not winning games.
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: But you know, the defensive coordinator is still there, the
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: offensive coator, Hackett's still there.
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: Rogers, he did lose his play calling.
- 1:55:13Speaker 7: He did Todd Downing is calling the players?
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: Now, that's interesting, isn't Hackett Rogers guy.
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: The passing coordinators is taking over the play calling.
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: Because I know that Rogers took offense at the question
- 1:55:27Speaker 3: did you have any role in the firing of Salah?
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: He was like, you know, really out of nothing to
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: do with.
- 1:55:35Speaker 10: Come on you talking about but do you think that
- 1:55:38Speaker 10: he had anything to do with.
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: Hackett losing the play calling?
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: Maybe that was a compromise.
- 1:55:43Speaker 4: That was the you got off the road?
- 1:55:45Speaker 7: Was that sala wanted to fire Hackett and Hackett and
- 1:55:51Speaker 7: Rogers supposedly.
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: Kind of Yet Hackett, I'm looking for the palace, and you.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: Took away his play call. If the coaches, the head
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: coach got fired, who's the one that told Hackett you're
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: no longer calling.
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: I guess the new guy.
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: So he stepped in on day one and so Alexander Haig, Wow,
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: that's who that's that? If I dare say, it's kind
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: of ballsy, Yeah, that's what.
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: It seems like. The defensive coordinator is taking over the
- 1:56:20Speaker 4: as the interim coach, and I think it's his call.
- 1:56:23Speaker 4: I think he made the call.
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: Okay, So I'm going with the Jets. After all that,
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: I'm going with the Jets. Yep, all right, hurry Now
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: we moved back to Sunday at one on CBS. Finally
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: the Jets are on this. I mean, the Patriots are
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: back on CBS. This is key. This is key being
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: back on CBS.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: Yeah, four and one Texans at the one in four Patriots.
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: Drake may Era begins.
- 1:56:51Speaker 7: We just need Jim Nansen, Phil Simmons really.
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: Been on CBS since week one, huh, right, because Seattle
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: was Fox, then it was The Prime, and then Fox
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: for San Francisco, Fox for MIAs Right, the Prime, the Prime.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: That's right back where they should be.
- 1:57:05Speaker 4: Texans by seven.
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I I wish I could do it.
- 1:57:10Speaker 10: I'm hoping for a scrappy effort this weekend from Drake
- 1:57:14Speaker 10: May and make some plays, just get some hope to
- 1:57:16Speaker 10: the Patriots fan base. But this Houston seems pretty good,
- 1:57:20Speaker 10: even without their weapons. I think they're They're going to
- 1:57:22Speaker 10: come in here with something to prove. So I'm going
- 1:57:25Speaker 10: to take Houston to win the game, and unfortunately, I'm
- 1:57:27Speaker 10: going to lay the points. As tempted as I am
- 1:57:29Speaker 10: to think that New England puts up a little bit
- 1:57:31Speaker 10: of a fight and keeps it close. I think it'll
- 1:57:33Speaker 10: be it will be closer, not like ten, but I
- 1:57:35Speaker 10: think it's seven and a half as enough.
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: Houston wins, Drake May leads the Patriots to cover the spread.
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 1:57:45Speaker 7: We're going to be celebrated, run out, and we do
- 1:57:48Speaker 7: the victory. Can I feel the same way. We were
- 1:57:50Speaker 7: talking on the on the playbook yesterday with the Texans
- 1:57:54Speaker 7: reporter and he was saying that they've really kind of
- 1:57:57Speaker 7: shot themselves in the foot in a lot of these games,
- 1:57:59Speaker 7: and that's what They're not scoring as many points as
- 1:58:02Speaker 7: they would like to be scoring. So I think the
- 1:58:04Speaker 7: Texans still have some things to work out with themselves,
- 1:58:07Speaker 7: and they have no Nico Collins now offensively, So I
- 1:58:10Speaker 7: like the Patriots to cover like Alex, but I am
- 1:58:13Speaker 7: taking the Texans to win the game. I'll say twenty
- 1:58:16Speaker 7: four seventeen. I think Drake May wakes up the offense
- 1:58:20Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 1:58:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I could definitely see what you guys are talking about. Houston.
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: We had talked about four and one, but with a
- 1:58:28Speaker 4: negative point differential, which is kind of odd. So their
- 1:58:31Speaker 4: games have been close. Yeah, I don't think this one's
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: going to be. I think it's going to be a
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: tough first game for Drake May, you know, with the defense,
- 1:58:40Speaker 4: and I would feel better if the Texans were rolling.
- 1:58:43Speaker 4: You know. I think that what Evan said is true.
- 1:58:45Speaker 4: I think they have some things to work through and
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: they're still searching to play good football. They really haven't.
- 1:58:51Speaker 4: Even though their record says they're one of the best teams,
- 1:58:53Speaker 4: they haven't played that way. So I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: I'm going to take Houston both ways. I'm gonna say
- 1:58:58Speaker 4: twenty seven to thirteen. Is that what I said on
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: that twenty three thirteen twenty seven? What did I say?
- 1:59:04Speaker 4: I'd like to be consistent, but something like that.
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: Paul's selective memory.
- 1:59:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't try to be consistent, but he can't.
- 1:59:11Speaker 3: Your jewel.
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: Jewels told me jewels different jewels.
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: Patriots do cover this game. Drake May has a good game.
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: He does get sacked three times, but he looks okay.
- 1:59:24Speaker 4: That'd be fantastic if he only got sacked three times.
- 1:59:27Speaker 3: Yeah, he looks okay. And I think we come out
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: of this game saying we got a guy.
- 1:59:32Speaker 4: I hope so well, you're going to say that regardless.
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: I know he's going to hand the ball off and
- 1:59:35Speaker 4: you're going to say, did you see that?
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: Twenty twenty one to seventeen as you score, so the
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: Patriots cover love it? Yep, So there it is. Those
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: are the picks that you all hate, some of you like.
- 1:59:49Speaker 3: We have the Catch twenty two coming up after this show.
- 1:59:53Speaker 4: Yes, we know what's going to happen.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: I'm actually we have the pregame show on Sunday.
