- Sean Graver: So you pulled into the parking lot at work this morning and parked right next to a co worker's car, you know, and what you saw through the window is something you can't quite unsee. Well hey, this is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. So there through the windows you see empty liquor bottles, fast food wrappers piled up, dirty laundry covering the back seat, like it hasn't just been driven in but like it's been lived in. And now you're walking into work with a knot in your stomach because you don't actually know what you just saw. Maybe they're just going through something temporary or maybe it's more serious than that. I mean, maybe they're one missed paycheck from having nowhere else to sleep. You don't know. And and there's no employee support program to call. There's no HR form to box to check that says, I think my coworker might be s struggling and I don't know what to do about it. Right, this is one of those moments where there's no clean, simple process or plan, but I don't want to leave you with with nothing. So let's go somewhere. Scripture actually addresses exactly this kind of unglamorous moment. So the apostle Paul writes in Galatians chapter six, verses nine and ten. Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. So then As we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone. As we have opportunity. So not as we have a formal program at work or not as we have resources and ability to solve the problem. Just as we have opportunity. And you have one right now, even if it feels small and awkward and uncertain. Now that might look like nothing more dramatic than treating this person with a little more warmth today than usual. It might look like a simple low pressure question, like, hey, is everything okay? I don't need details, but I'm around if you ever want to talk. It might mean finding out what resources actually exist in your community. Maybe it's a food bank or a local shelter or a counseling line. So That you have something real to offer in the conversation if the person opens up about it. Now you don't have to fix the situation, and you're probably not equipped to do so anyway, and that's okay. But you can refuse to pretend that you didn't see what you saw. However, this goes, don't let today be the day you convince yourself that it's none of your business. Because sometimes doing good starts with just not looking away. So let's pray. Lord, we saw something today that we can't just unsee and we don't know what to do with it. Would you give us the wisdom for how to approach this person with care and not pity and encourage to open a door instead of just walking past it like nothing happened? If there's a real need here, help us to know what what practical help actually looks like. And if we can't do much more than show a little extra kindness today, well let that be enough for now. And thank you for walking with us through this whole season of work and faith. Help us carry what we've learned into what comes next. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Go make today count.
