- 1:11Speaker 1: This is a podcast called 25 Whistles. Talking football and
- 1:16Speaker 1: they all wear a whistle. Yeah, it's stupid, but what
- 1:19Speaker 1: did you expect?
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's a podcast called 25 Whistles.
- 1:24Speaker 4: 25 Whistles.
- 1:26Speaker 1: All right, blow the whistle.
- 1:28Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:30Speaker 1: First, before we start hating on the Cowboys, the Jalen
- 1:33Speaker 1: Hurd stuff's crazy. They just came out. They found blood
- 1:36Speaker 1: clots in his lungs. What were you about to say?
- 1:39Speaker 3: Season ending. But I didn't know that it was in
- 1:41Speaker 3: his lungs.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah, four blood clots in his lungs.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness. That's like you could die at any minute.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was out for the
- 1:52Speaker 1: season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs,
- 1:55Speaker 1: has been undergoing tests for days. Before the London game,
- 1:58Speaker 1: he was in the hospital until 4 a.m. and did
- 1:59Speaker 1: not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played without
- 2:02Speaker 1: having slept. So people have to get fired for that.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah, somebody needs to take responsibility. Like, that's insane, man.
- 2:14Speaker 1: That's the craziest story. As you're hearing this, it may
- 2:17Speaker 1: already be a story that's out and been out for
- 2:18Speaker 1: a while. But that's like medical staff, even coaches, anybody
- 2:25Speaker 1: that knew that and he still went and played that game. Like,
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's probably people losing their job for that.
- 2:29Speaker 5: How does that get cleared at all for him to play?
- 2:32Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 2:33Speaker 1: It says Jalen's progress is very good. This is from
- 2:35Speaker 1: his agent. We expect a full recovery. Over the last
- 2:38Speaker 1: few days, he has received comprehensive medical evaluations. He was
- 2:42Speaker 1: initially diagnosed by specialists in London with the left calf
- 2:46Speaker 1: superficial vein thrombosis. After further testing, it turns out it
- 2:52Speaker 1: went in.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So that's it. Further testing. So they didn't know how
- 2:56Speaker 3: bad it was at the game. It seemed like they
- 2:59Speaker 3: knew something was up.
- 3:00Speaker 5: But if sleep is, you know, you can't even sleep.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I mean, it's easy to say that now, I guess, but.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So that's the first one. And we're going to do
- 3:10Speaker 1: big winner and big loser of the week. The other
- 3:11Speaker 1: crazy story was the Duke game. Whenever the trainer runs
- 3:15Speaker 1: in and the player shoves her.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Hell yeah, that's crazy. Like, what was he thinking?
- 3:20Speaker 1: He was thinking somebody's pushing him off from looking at
- 3:22Speaker 1: his teammate who's obviously hurt. But yeah, really bad move.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And then people were trying to say that she was
- 3:27Speaker 1: just a Gatorade bringer. And then they had to go
- 3:30Speaker 1: and find her picture on the website and go, no,
- 3:33Speaker 1: she's one of the trainers.
- 3:34Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I don't think the Gatorade bringer or the water person
- 3:38Speaker 3: would tell a player to get back.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Unless they say take water to the person and you
- 3:43Speaker 1: slide it. It looked bad from the start, but they've
- 3:46Speaker 1: suspended that guy too.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Oh, the player?
- 3:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 5: I saw you apologize. I didn't see that.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's been suspended as well.
- 3:51Speaker 3: That was just terrible.
- 3:52Speaker 1: So starting with those, because those just popped up on
- 3:55Speaker 1: my timeline, but we can do a big loser of
- 3:58Speaker 1: the week. I'm not going to pick the Cowboys because
- 4:01Speaker 1: I got plenty to say coming up.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You can save it for... I'll use that one. But
- 4:05Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Big loser of the week, the Longhorns.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Big losers, Mike. I agree.
- 4:10Speaker 5: This is terrible.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I hate it for Arch because I like Arch. I've
- 4:16Speaker 1: always liked Arch. But man, I love seeing the burnt
- 4:19Speaker 1: orange just go down.
- 4:20Speaker 7: Why do you still like him at this point?
- 4:22Speaker 6: Arch? Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I like him for the reason that I kind of
- 4:26Speaker 1: like everybody who's told they're not as good as it's said.
- 4:28Speaker 8: So.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I don't know him. I feel like he's handled himself
- 4:32Speaker 1: pretty well considering all the hype, but it's a tough
- 4:37Speaker 1: go for him. I don't know what they're going to
- 4:38Speaker 1: do with him.
- 4:40Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 4:41Speaker 1: He's not going to go into the draft. I was
- 4:43Speaker 1: looking at first-round projections earlier this morning, and he wasn't
- 4:47Speaker 1: in the first round at all. And if you have
- 4:50Speaker 1: another year you can play in college and you're not
- 4:52Speaker 1: a first-round pick, you probably don't go. But, yeah, Texas
- 4:56Speaker 1: big losers. Mike, what did you think of that?
- 4:58Speaker 7: I just think he doesn't look good. He's just making
- 5:00Speaker 7: dumb decisions over and over again, and I don't know
- 5:02Speaker 7: where the hype ever paid off. I just haven't seen
- 5:06Speaker 7: a great game this year where it's like, oh yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 7: he's our guy. After every game, he's like, yeah, I
- 5:10Speaker 7: didn't play very good. I didn't play very good.
- 5:12Speaker 1: When are you going to start playing good? How much
- 5:14Speaker 1: of it, though, is Arch's fault versus how much of
- 5:16Speaker 1: it is Texas' fault?
- 5:18Speaker 5: I think it has to be Texas.
- 5:20Speaker 7: It has to be somebody not making him look this bad.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so Texas sucks, and I can't get enough of it. So...
- 5:28Speaker 1: Big loser of the week, Texas. I'm not going to
- 5:30Speaker 1: declare myself the big winner of the week, but because
- 5:32Speaker 1: Texas is the big loser, it's like the only thing
- 5:34Speaker 1: I'm holding on to this season.
- 5:35Speaker 5: And Arkansas won. I know it's not your big winner,
- 5:37Speaker 5: but and Arkansas won.
- 5:38Speaker 3: That's what you mean, right?
- 5:39Speaker 1: Why are you stealing what's coming up with my big winner?
- 5:42Speaker 3: That's his winner, you dummy.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Did I ruin it? Spoiler alert.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Big loser of the week, Eddie.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Big loser of the week has got to be the Cowboys.
- 5:51Speaker 3: At first, I thought it would be the Rams, but
- 5:53Speaker 3: then I watched the Cowboys game. I'm like, no, we
- 5:55Speaker 3: got to– Pick the Cowboys for the big losers because
- 5:58Speaker 3: I really– I do. I don't know what's wrong. I
- 5:59Speaker 3: don't know what's wrong with the Cowboys. Their defense actually
- 6:03Speaker 3: looked decent, better, and then their offense looked worse. So
- 6:08Speaker 3: I don't know what's up with the Cowboys. I'm not
- 6:10Speaker 3: hating on the Cowboys. I still love the Cowboys, but
- 6:12Speaker 3: we suck, dude. We suck.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It makes me mad at you they're bad.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Why? What did I do?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Because you demanded to take them in the second round
- 6:19Speaker 1: of our draft with skins. And you were like, I'm
- 6:22Speaker 1: going to the Cowboys.
- 6:23Speaker 3: We'll go to the Cowboys. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 1: We lost thousands of dollars because of that.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah, not because of the Cowboys. I think some of
- 6:28Speaker 3: the other picks, too.
- 6:29Speaker 1: No, no, but we only get three first-round picks.
- 6:30Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 6:31Speaker 1: We get a first round, a second round.
- 6:32Speaker 3: So what was our first-round pick?
- 6:34Speaker 1: The Ravens. And the only reason they lost is because
- 6:35Speaker 1: they didn't have a quarterback.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Well, they lost.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But they're four and two.
- 6:38Speaker 3: What was our other pick? first three round pick.
- 6:40Speaker 1: In Jacksonville the Ravens no they're winning and they lost
- 6:43Speaker 1: though no but they're winning again they have winning records
- 6:45Speaker 1: you're taking it out on me when all the other
- 6:47Speaker 1: picks is well lost overall records eight and four with
- 6:52Speaker 1: the other two rounds yours what two.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And four three four three relax Yes, you're right.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You're losing us thousands of dollars.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It's terrible, and I want to just give you all
- 7:02Speaker 3: the money in my wallet, which is probably a total
- 7:04Speaker 3: of $ 3. No, it's thousands.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Two and four.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, three bucks. Two and four.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Two and four.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Here, take all the money in my wallet, dude. I'm
- 7:14Speaker 3: so sorry.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Thousands.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Okay, I'll tell you what. I'll take all your salsa money.
- 7:18Speaker 3: No, no, no. I said my wallet.
- 7:21Speaker 1: If you want to buy out for all your salsa money.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Shut up.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Right now, we'll take it.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Dang. No, because I still have hope. I still have hope.
- 7:28Speaker 5: The good thing is the division is so bad, they
- 7:30Speaker 5: can still make the playoffs.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:32Speaker 5: That's what I was going to say. I'm saying you
- 7:34Speaker 5: guys can win more money. We need to win.
- 7:35Speaker 3: We do what, though?
- 7:36Speaker 8: I know.
- 7:36Speaker 3: We won't win in the playoffs, so to do what?
- 7:38Speaker 1: You never know.
- 7:39Speaker 5: You never know, man.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Shut up. Dude, stop. This is such a rollercoaster ride,
- 7:44Speaker 3: being a Cowboys fan. It's such a rollercoaster, and I
- 7:47Speaker 3: hate it. When does it go up?
- 7:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I was going to say.
- 7:48Speaker 1: This is not a rollercoaster. This is a submarine ride.
- 7:52Speaker 3: We won two games, and then we were flying high.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, so terrible. Losers.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Kevin?
- 7:58Speaker 5: My losers are going to be the officials of college
- 8:01Speaker 5: football because they had a rough weekend between the Miami
- 8:05Speaker 5: and Florida State ending. Did you guys watch that? No,
- 8:07Speaker 5: you're at the game.
- 8:08Speaker 1: We were watching the phones.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Small phone.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Two bad plays in the end in Florida State. Kind
- 8:13Speaker 5: of got d * * *, I would say, when
- 8:14Speaker 5: I was watching it live.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Can you explain that?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Also, you can't say.
- 8:17Speaker 3: D * * * anymore. Oh, because it's short for
- 8:20Speaker 3: d * * *?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Oh.
- 8:22Speaker 3: So would you like to apologize?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Florida State got screwed?
- 8:27Speaker 1: Screwed for anything? VG?
- 8:30Speaker 6: VG?
- 8:30Speaker 1: Well, that offends tools.
- 8:32Speaker 4: That does.
- 8:32Speaker 1: That does.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Yeah, there's two Hail Marys at the very end. Florida
- 8:36Speaker 5: State got one and they got a hold on the
- 8:38Speaker 5: first one.
- 8:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 5: They were called for holding the tackle and dude, it
- 8:40Speaker 5: was such a bad call. Like the guy just fell
- 8:43Speaker 5: and then.
- 8:43Speaker 3: But you can't say on someone.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Right?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Like he kind of like stayed on him.
- 8:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he can.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Hold him down.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you can lay on him.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Yeah, you can lay on him.
- 8:50Speaker 1: They teach you to lay on him sometimes.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's still against, I think that's still a
- 8:52Speaker 3: holding call.
- 8:53Speaker 1: No, it's not. You can lay on him.
- 8:54Speaker 5: It's called a pancake.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Well, that's what he did. He pancaked.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Yeah, he pancaked him. And then the next one, it
- 9:00Speaker 5: was one of those, the defender looked like he might've
- 9:04Speaker 5: caught it. They called it an interception on the field.
- 9:06Speaker 5: So they kind of have to go with that. But
- 9:08Speaker 5: it also looks like the receiver might've caught it. So
- 9:11Speaker 5: they kind of got– not kind of. They did get
- 9:13Speaker 5: screwed on that. And then the BYU-Notre Dame game, that
- 9:15Speaker 5: was PI at the end. And they didn't get called
- 9:18Speaker 5: for Notre Dame on BYU. So I feel like the
- 9:21Speaker 5: officials in college football this weekend just– They had a
- 9:23Speaker 5: rough one.
- 9:24Speaker 4: All right.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Biggest winner since Kevin already cut my legs out with Arkansas.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the Titans.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 3: That was crazy.
- 9:33Speaker 1: They might have not won a game all year. And
- 9:35Speaker 1: they could have gone 0-17 and we'd have gone, yeah, expected.
- 9:38Speaker 3: They won. Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I didn't even know. I was watching Haley's Comet, man.
- 9:43Speaker 3: You never see that.
- 9:44Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 9:46Speaker 1: They tried to give it away a little bit at
- 9:47Speaker 1: the end, but I'm going to go with the Titans
- 9:49Speaker 1: as the big winner.
- 9:50Speaker 8: You?
- 9:51Speaker 3: Man, you know, I'm going to go with the Patriots.
- 9:53Speaker 5: Whoa.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Just because Kevin stole yours, so I'm going to steal
- 9:56Speaker 3: it back.
- 9:58Speaker 9: Big winner.
- 9:58Speaker 3: The Patriots held off the loss against the Jets, man. Yeah,
- 10:02Speaker 3: I wouldn't even say they really won that game because
- 10:05Speaker 3: they got pretty close at the end, right?
- 10:06Speaker 1: They just didn't lose.
- 10:07Speaker 3: They just didn't lose.
- 10:07Speaker 5: They just didn't lose. I'll take it.
- 10:09Speaker 3: A win to win.
- 10:10Speaker 8: Hey, thanks, man.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I appreciate that.
- 10:12Speaker 5: The Browns, actually. The Browns are 4-2 at the top
- 10:14Speaker 5: of their division. Beat the Ravens.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I think I would root for the Browns any other
- 10:19Speaker 1: time unless Deshaun Watson wasn't their quarterback. That's fair.
- 10:21Speaker 3: That's tough.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And it's not really him. He plays a really good
- 10:24Speaker 1: fourth quarter, but their defense is real good. And they
- 10:28Speaker 1: just make the game crappy, slow, sloppy. Their defense is good.
- 10:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I don't think the Browns are for real still, but
- 10:36Speaker 1: they've won some games. That division, they're in first place.
- 10:39Speaker 1: They're in first place this late. It's the latest they've
- 10:43Speaker 1: been in first place, I think, in 12 years.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Wow.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So, yeah, the Browns are the winner. It's got to
- 10:50Speaker 1: be a weird time to be a Browns fan because
- 10:52Speaker 1: you just want your team to be good, but your
- 10:54Speaker 1: quarterback is legitimately a bad guy, like a really bad
- 10:59Speaker 1: guy that everybody knows about.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I mean, can they re-sign him?
- 11:03Speaker 4: Oh, you can't.
- 11:04Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 11:04Speaker 3: There's no way.
- 11:05Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 11:06Speaker 3: You can't do that, man. There's no way.
- 11:08Speaker 5: But if he takes you to the playoffs, do you
- 11:10Speaker 5: re-sign him?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Is it like, we don't like this guy, but as
- 11:13Speaker 3: long as he keeps winning.
- 11:14Speaker 1: They're cheering for the Browns.
- 11:16Speaker 3: They're cheering for the Browns. That's tough. I feel like
- 11:20Speaker 3: the team's kind of like that, too. I expect the
- 11:22Speaker 3: team to kind of give them a handshake sign and
- 11:25Speaker 3: then take it back, you know, because we really don't
- 11:26Speaker 3: like you, dude. But I think the team's kind of like,
- 11:29Speaker 3: you know what, let's put all that behind us right now.
- 11:30Speaker 3: We're just playing a game.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Deshaun Watson, multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual
- 11:36Speaker 1: assault made by dozens of female massage therapists and other
- 11:39Speaker 1: women between 2017 and 2021. A total of 27 women
- 11:43Speaker 1: filed civil lawsuits accusing him of inappropriate behavior and sexual
- 11:47Speaker 1: assault during private massage appointments.
- 11:49Speaker 5: Dang.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I finally told my kids about it. Because they kept asking, like, dad,
- 11:53Speaker 3: why do you keep saying, like, kill him when they're, like,
- 11:57Speaker 3: getting pressured? I was like, guys, I finally told them, like, yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 3: he was doing stuff while he was getting massages.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Is that all he said? He was doing stuff?
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 3: And they're just like, and you know, their eyes get like, oh, like,
- 12:07Speaker 3: I didn't really tell them all the details, but. I
- 12:09Speaker 3: think they got the idea.
- 12:11Speaker 5: They have Google.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Watson denied any wrongdoing, but steadily settled the overwhelming majority
- 12:15Speaker 1: of civil lawsuits. By early 2026, the final remaining civil
- 12:17Speaker 1: lawsuits against him were officially settled or dismissed. Yeah.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I honestly thought he'd never see the field again.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Same. Especially with the Achilles injury.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 1: He had two injuries. And also, it just shows you
- 12:32Speaker 1: how bad the Browns are.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Yeah, and how much money they owe him because the
- 12:36Speaker 5: owner's probably like, you have to play him. I'm paying
- 12:38Speaker 5: him $ 200- something million.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Browns fans are in a weird purgatory. They want to
- 12:44Speaker 1: root and they want to be happy, but they can't
- 12:45Speaker 1: be so happy because their dude's A-plus bad dude. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 1: there's that. Yeah.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Dang.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Brandon's in his cowboy gear, though, showing you that he's
- 12:55Speaker 1: not a Fairweather fan. Oh, man.
- 12:56Speaker 8: Love what's happening. I think this is a teaching lesson
- 13:00Speaker 8: to us. We're still favored to win the East. You know,
- 13:03Speaker 8: we had a pretty bad game last night, obviously. But
- 13:07Speaker 8: I think it pointed out our strengths more than our weaknesses.
- 13:10Speaker 9: See, Mr.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Positive. He's Cowboy Positive over there.
- 13:12Speaker 3: It's disgusting.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Looks like a brand-new Cowboys hat, too, because the bill
- 13:15Speaker 1: is so strange.
- 13:16Speaker 7: I feel like.
- 13:17Speaker 3: eBay just sent it.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I bought this.
- 13:18Speaker 8: This is a genuine 1994 Cowboys hat.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Oh, like so when they were winners.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 5: I'm bringing the mojo back, bro.
- 13:26Speaker 1: You bought that when?
- 13:29Speaker 8: During COVID?
- 13:29Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, you've had it for a while. Have you
- 13:31Speaker 1: worn it?
- 13:32Speaker 4: Just sometimes.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It's so straight.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I'm going to be honest, guys.
- 13:37Speaker 8: I was going to give this to Eddie for Christmas. Oh, man.
- 13:40Speaker 3: And then you decided not to.
- 13:41Speaker 5: No, you know what? Because he's a hater of mine, too.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Is that like an Emmett Smith jersey?
- 13:45Speaker 3: Yeah, what about the black jersey? I've never seen that
- 13:47Speaker 3: one before.
- 13:47Speaker 8: It's Mitchell and Ness. It was a special thing that
- 13:49Speaker 8: they did. It's got Emmett Smith on the back.
- 13:52Speaker 5: And I'm just a fan. He's a fan. He's not
- 13:55Speaker 5: a hater.
- 13:55Speaker 1: You know, I can appreciate that.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I walk in and he's wearing all his cowboys. I'm like,
- 13:59Speaker 3: what are you doing? You would wear that today.
- 14:02Speaker 1: That's all he's doing.
- 14:03Speaker 5: I can't help it.
- 14:04Speaker 1: We went to Vanderbilt for the Arkansas Vanderbilt game.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Eddie and I did. And we sat in normal people seats.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I mean, as normal. What row?
- 14:16Speaker 1: Oh, three on the 50 yard line.
- 14:18Speaker 5: That's not normal people seats.
- 14:20Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 5: That is not normal.
- 14:23Speaker 1: In between the 45 and 50 yard line.
- 14:26Speaker 5: So yeah, still not normal.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Dude, so close to where some of the people sitting
- 14:30Speaker 3: by us were young because we were behind the Vandy
- 14:32Speaker 3: bench and people sitting by us were being like, hey, John,
- 14:36Speaker 3: come on, throw the ball. And John will actually turn around.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Like the players would turn around and be like, oh yeah,
- 14:41Speaker 3: you got it, man. Like we were that close.
- 14:43Speaker 1: We were close.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Dang.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So the good is that, man, they're so nice. Vanderbilt
- 14:49Speaker 1: fans are so nice. You just go and have a
- 14:51Speaker 1: good time and Eddie made a friend. I made a friend.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Everyone around us.
- 14:56Speaker 5: And they're both Vandy fans? The two friends?
- 14:58Speaker 3: Dude, we were surrounded by, I mean, we were, I
- 15:00Speaker 3: think in the Vandy section, right?
- 15:02Speaker 1: We were in the Vandy section.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:03Speaker 3: And it was just us.
- 15:04Speaker 5: That's tough.
- 15:05Speaker 3: But man, Bobby got me though. He wore black. And
- 15:09Speaker 3: so it was like neutral. He had his like, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 3: Arkansas hat on, but he wore black. So I wore
- 15:15Speaker 3: red like an idiot. So in all the sea of black,
- 15:18Speaker 3: I'm wearing all red. And I'm just the buddy.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I only had one coat. It came down to my coat.
- 15:25Speaker 5: And it was black.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it was black.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Which is awesome.
- 15:28Speaker 5: But an Arkansas one, right? Or no, just a regular coat?
- 15:30Speaker 1: I don't have an Arkansas coat.
- 15:31Speaker 3: It was just a coat.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Just a black coat.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Okay, gotcha.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I had an Arkansas hat on. Yeah. I was yelling.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I was the only one up standing up whenever we
- 15:37Speaker 1: do good stuff. Yeah. But nobody was mean, although I
- 15:40Speaker 1: tell you this, it did feel like a high school environment.
- 15:42Speaker 8: Really?
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 5: Like, what do you mean, the stadium?
- 15:45Speaker 3: Even the stadium's kind of smaller than I thought.
- 15:47Speaker 5: It looks small, but you can't really tell on TV.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's small. Like the seats are like bleachers.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Okay.
- 15:54Speaker 3: They aren't really like seat seats.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Even down below like that?
- 15:57Speaker 3: Even down below.
- 15:58Speaker 1: They had some chair backs if you're a season ticket holder,
- 16:00Speaker 1: but they're the bleachers. But it was small.
- 16:02Speaker 5: A little disappointing?
- 16:06Speaker 1: I expected it to be small. The weird thing about
- 16:08Speaker 1: that stadium is that they have their luxury boxes in
- 16:11Speaker 1: the end zones and not middle of the field like
- 16:14Speaker 1: most other places.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Yeah, where the good views are in the middle of
- 16:17Speaker 5: the field.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but they have a lot of luxury boxes on
- 16:19Speaker 1: the end. But it was great. It was cold, but
- 16:21Speaker 1: we won. We did the streak. The streak is dead.
- 16:24Speaker 1: First SEC win in 721 days.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Dang. That's a long time.
- 16:29Speaker 1: They did it without our best player, who's Chris Marshall.
- 16:32Speaker 1: He's the second leading receiver in the SEC. And so
- 16:35Speaker 1: it was good. We won. Broke the away streak. Broke
- 16:39Speaker 1: the SEC streak.
- 16:41Speaker 3: All bad streaks.
- 16:42Speaker 5: Or Vandy fans like, Disappointed? Or were they kind of like, oh,
- 16:45Speaker 5: it was fun?
- 16:46Speaker 1: They're going back to their rich person jobs. They're going
- 16:47Speaker 1: back to their engineering gigs.
- 16:48Speaker 3: They're fun.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Medical.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Yeah, they're all good.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Yeah, they're all good. Broadway after this.
- 16:53Speaker 3: They're not very happy with their season either. They're kind
- 16:56Speaker 3: of just, I bought my tickets. I just show up.
- 16:59Speaker 1: But they're not used to being happy about their season.
- 17:00Speaker 5: That's true.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Their blip was being good.
- 17:04Speaker 3: But we're so close to that blip, though. It's the
- 17:07Speaker 3: blip hangover that they're living through right now.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Miami is number one for the first time since 2002.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Can you believe it's been that long?
- 17:15Speaker 6: Wow.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Yeah. 24 years since they've been number one, which is
- 17:19Speaker 1: pretty crazy.
- 17:20Speaker 5: That is wild.
- 17:21Speaker 3: The fact that 2002 is 24 years ago, that's crazy.
- 17:23Speaker 1: That's what blows your mind?
- 17:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I'm like, dang.
- 17:25Speaker 5: That team was so good.
- 17:26Speaker 1: We had to watch on the scoreboard the– BYU, Notre
- 17:30Speaker 1: Dame end. Couldn't get any sell.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 1: So couldn't watch it in the stadium.
- 17:34Speaker 3: And by watching, it was just watching the numbers move.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Okay. So they didn't have like a live single.
- 17:39Speaker 7: No, no, no.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Went back and watched clips to see why everybody was upset.
- 17:44Speaker 1: But that's the, like you said, the second week in
- 17:46Speaker 1: a row, there's been a bad non-PI call. Or maybe
- 17:49Speaker 1: the Georgia or the Alabama. That was two weeks ago, huh?
- 17:52Speaker 1: Or was that last week?
- 17:52Speaker 5: No, that was last week.
- 17:53Speaker 1: It was.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So I don't know. I got a bunch of notes.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Winners of the week, Arkansas. Kevin took it from me.
- 17:59Speaker 1: 14 straight SEC losses gone. First win under Ryan Silverfield
- 18:04Speaker 1: on the road. I got to drive home right after
- 18:06Speaker 1: the game and go to bed.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It was awesome.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Other winner, Miami. First time since 2002, they're number one.
- 18:12Speaker 1: And obviously, Florida. First win in Austin ever.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 18:16Speaker 1: The freshmen's first start, and they're back in top 25. Dang.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Losers of the week, Texas. Yep.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Georgia.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Huh.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Alabama. And then Vanderbilt, because they lost to Arkansas. Oh.
- 18:28Speaker 1: so you're not at the bottom right we're not I
- 18:30Speaker 1: did a video that I didn't mean for it to
- 18:32Speaker 1: get retweeted a lot and it's we're not the worst
- 18:36Speaker 1: video nice your chant yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 3: What were you doing I was there watching recording I'm
- 18:43Speaker 3: like whatever he's recording is.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Funny I was dancing around yelling we're not the worst
- 18:47Speaker 1: we're not the worst and then someone took a clip
- 18:50Speaker 1: of that and made it into a song like an
- 18:51Speaker 1: AI song and so that's the hook of me just
- 18:55Speaker 1: going we're not the worst which is kind of funny
- 18:57Speaker 1: so Yeah, whatever.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Here we are.
- 19:00Speaker 4: All right, notes.
- 19:01Speaker 1: You guys ready?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Five of the top seven lost. Do we like it
- 19:07Speaker 1: that we don't know who's going to win and lose?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Do we like it when it's this crazy? It feels
- 19:10Speaker 1: very NFL-like.
- 19:11Speaker 5: I love it.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Is it fun? Yeah. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 5: I think it's fun, especially as a guy that doesn't
- 19:15Speaker 5: have a huge team. I'm a Vols fan, but I'm like,
- 19:18Speaker 5: you know, it's not hard. But it's just fun as
- 19:21Speaker 5: a fan just to watch all the games and just
- 19:24Speaker 5: all the chaos.
- 19:25Speaker 3: What he's trying to say is what I really am.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I don't have a team. So, like, I do enjoy
- 19:29Speaker 3: watching college football just because I don't have a team. So,
- 19:32Speaker 3: it's really cool to see it get all mixed up
- 19:33Speaker 3: like this.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Auburn beat Georgia. Is the bigger story Auburn's win or
- 19:38Speaker 1: Georgia blowing its top spot? I'm going to go Auburn's
- 19:40Speaker 1: win because– It's a great win for Golish, his first
- 19:43Speaker 1: year coach. I think for Auburn, that's fantastic. It's not
- 19:47Speaker 1: that we're having a bad season, but.
- 19:50Speaker 5: It wasn't great.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I think this is pretty impactful for their entire year.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Georgia's going to lose one eventually. We have so much
- 19:59Speaker 1: parity happening right now, just generally across the board. So
- 20:01Speaker 1: I think Auburn's win is bigger than Georgia's loss. But
- 20:05Speaker 1: Georgia had looked bulletproof.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Yeah, that win against Alabama, everyone said they're clear number
- 20:10Speaker 5: one now, and then boom.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Kevin, since you're a big ball fan, Tennessee beats Alabama 26-10.
- 20:17Speaker 1: How much credit goes to Tennessee, or is it more
- 20:20Speaker 1: of an Alabama crisis?
- 20:21Speaker 5: I give the credit to the Vols in that defense,
- 20:24Speaker 5: because Alabama's offense has been pretty good this year. I mean,
- 20:27Speaker 5: versus Georgia, they struggled a little bit, as expected, but
- 20:30Speaker 5: the Vols' defense is better than I thought, honestly, because
- 20:34Speaker 5: you watch that game, and their offense is still struggling.
- 20:36Speaker 5: That quarterback that They've just kind of been running rotation.
- 20:39Speaker 1: But their defense looks really good. Hey, Mike, I'll ask
- 20:42Speaker 1: you a Texas question. Florida wins to Texas 27-24. Which
- 20:46Speaker 1: fan base needed the result more, Florida needing a win
- 20:48Speaker 1: or Texas needing to avoid another loss?
- 20:50Speaker 5: We needed to avoid another loss.
- 20:51Speaker 7: I think we're done now.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I don't think you're done. No, we're done. I think
- 21:00Speaker 1: if you lose another game, you're done.
- 21:02Speaker 3: What's challenging coming up?
- 21:05Speaker 7: Ole Miss.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it's challenging.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a tough one.
- 21:09Speaker 4: That's why I think we're done.
- 21:10Speaker 3: And then I also, too, when you see games like this,
- 21:12Speaker 3: you're just like, I feel like every game's going to
- 21:14Speaker 3: be challenging coming up.
- 21:15Speaker 1: We got Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, LSU.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Yeah, they all sound challenging.
- 21:19Speaker 8: That's so hard.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Well, you stopped before Arkansas.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Then we got Arkansas.
- 21:22Speaker 4: We should be fine there.
- 21:23Speaker 8: What a roll.
- 21:24Speaker 4: And then we got Texas A & M.
- 21:25Speaker 3: What a roll.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Why'd you stop before Arkansas? So we get through everything
- 21:28Speaker 4: before Arkansas.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So I think Ole Miss, that'll be an interesting game.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It's in Austin for both teams. Mississippi State, you should
- 21:35Speaker 1: be fine. But Mississippi State has another quarterback. Yeah. So
- 21:38Speaker 1: they look so bad against LSU. Did you see the
- 21:40Speaker 1: coach quit? Resigned? You may want to make sure I
- 21:43Speaker 1: didn't get AI'd on this, but their linebackers coach, I believe,
- 21:46Speaker 1: resigned after the game. He put up a tweet, and
- 21:49Speaker 1: I went to his Twitter account. I look like him.
- 21:50Speaker 1: He said, I suck and we suck. I quit, basically.
- 21:53Speaker 1: He put up a graphic. I was like, I'm embarrassed.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I'm out. Dude, I wish the Cowboys coaches would do that.
- 21:59Speaker 3: All of them? We suck. We quit.
- 22:03Speaker 5: For Mississippi State?
- 22:04Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 22:05Speaker 5: I'm not seeing anything right away, but.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Texas plays Ole Miss. Mississippi State should be fine.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Missouri should be fine. LSU, that's an interesting game. You
- 22:15Speaker 1: guys can't lose anymore. Yeah. Do you see anything about
- 22:17Speaker 1: a Mississippi State linebacker coach?
- 22:19Speaker 5: I see that he didn't.
- 22:21Speaker 3: So it was a joke.
- 22:23Speaker 7: Might have been a meme or a parody account.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Oh, it could have been because it could have been
- 22:26Speaker 1: a fake account like his name. Yeah, his name is
- 22:29Speaker 1: Matt Brock.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I do see the post here, but then I click
- 22:36Speaker 5: on it and it says it's not available anymore.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, so maybe he put it up and then.
- 22:41Speaker 3: You think? Is it from him?
- 22:43Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 22:45Speaker 1: See that?
- 22:46Speaker 5: It's posted from a suspended account.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Well, regardless, I fell for it.
- 22:52Speaker 3: I mean, the image looks professional.
- 22:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Well, yeah. You just throw that in the eye and
- 22:55Speaker 1: go make something.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Fair.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Next up.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Eddie, you want a question?
- 23:00Speaker 3: Yeah, come on. Give me one I can answer.
- 23:02Speaker 9: I know.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I gave them their specialties. It's football fun.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Ooh, to play or to watch?
- 23:11Speaker 1: Dealer's choice.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Yes, football's fun. It's so much fun to watch. And
- 23:16Speaker 3: even to play, it's fun, but it hurts. Dude, yeah,
- 23:19Speaker 3: football's awesome. I love football. I love this time of year.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I think a couple weeks ago, I was feeling fatigued,
- 23:25Speaker 3: too many games, too many bet losses, and I felt
- 23:30Speaker 3: like I needed a break. But I'm back. I'm back.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I love it.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I had a big bet loss. I just knew Georgia
- 23:35Speaker 1: was going to beat Auburn. They were down. So I
- 23:37Speaker 1: just loaded up on the money line, like 500 bucks.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And when Eddie said, no, they're still losing. I was like,
- 23:43Speaker 1: oh my God, really? Couldn't believe it.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 1: So that sucked. Football has a way of turning one

- 25:06Speaker 1: BYU beat Notre Dame. I think people take BYU seriously now.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Do you watch their coach dance? Yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 8: Yeah, I love it.
- 25:16Speaker 5: On game day?
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 5: That was like legit.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he was good.
- 25:20Speaker 8: The.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Vanderbilt mascot has to be on the dance team because
- 25:24Speaker 1: they had all the dancers in the middle of the
- 25:26Speaker 1: field doing their... It may sound a little routine, whatever
- 25:29Speaker 1: they're doing.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Oh, but you're a dancer. You know it.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But the mascot was doing it with them.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 25:33Speaker 1: So it had to be like a dancer in the
- 25:35Speaker 1: mascot uniform. It's pretty cool.
- 25:36Speaker 4: Dang.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Did you see Steve Young?
- 25:39Speaker 1: At the game?
- 25:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 3: No, no, no. Game day.
- 25:41Speaker 1: No.
- 25:42Speaker 3: He was the guest picker.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Oh, I didn't see.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Yeah, it was awesome.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Is he really a great, great grandson of Brigham Young?
- 25:48Speaker 7: Yes.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Wow.
- 25:50Speaker 9: Wow.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Whatever the number of greats is, yes.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That is amazing. I never even
- 25:54Speaker 3: put it together. Bring them young. Steve Young. Steve Young.
- 25:58Speaker 3: That was mind-blowing to me.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Ohio State beat Indiana. Hey, what a call by Indiana.
- 26:04Speaker 1: That took balls to call that on fourth down to
- 26:06Speaker 1: try to win that game. And he caught the pass,
- 26:08Speaker 1: just stepped out of bounds.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Oh, yes, yes. I was trying to think there's so
- 26:11Speaker 5: much that happened. Just the last call.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Last play. Yeah. It took balls to make that call.
- 26:16Speaker 3: And the throw a little bit to the left.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But I was surprised. As soon as he caught it,
- 26:22Speaker 1: he goes, oh, my God. He celebrated and then went, oh,
- 26:24Speaker 1: my God, and put his hands on his head.
- 26:26Speaker 5: He knew right away.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Football. The Titans finally win. Amazing. The Colts suck. They
- 26:33Speaker 1: fire their GM. Probably just because the Titans beat them.
- 26:36Speaker 1: If the Titans beat you, you have to fire your GM.
- 26:38Speaker 1: That should just be the.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Rule this season. That seems fair.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Doesn't matter who you are, your success, even last year.
- 26:44Speaker 1: You could have won the Super Bowl last year. But
- 26:46Speaker 1: if you lose to the Titans, we fire your GM. Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I suggested on Twitter that the winner of the Arkansas-Vanderbilt
- 26:52Speaker 1: game absorb the other team.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 26:55Speaker 1: To make us more competitive.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Nice.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Because you guys just merge.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Yeah. We take all their players, and then we see
- 27:01Speaker 1: now if we get any better.
- 27:02Speaker 5: The rest of the season?
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, no, they're on our team now.
- 27:04Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 5: That'd be fun.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I like that role.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Panthers beat the Eagles 25-14 in Philadelphia.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I don't know that it proves that Carolina's good. I
- 27:14Speaker 1: think it does prove that Philadelphia is not. And now
- 27:16Speaker 1: that we know the Hurds is not coming back. Browns
- 27:19Speaker 1: beat the Ravens 13-10. It was a really ugly game,
- 27:21Speaker 1: but I feel like they ran out of plays for Snoop. Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 1: They were like, well, he's got four plays.
- 27:29Speaker 5: And he did go one and one.
- 27:31Speaker 1: As a backup quarterback, that's all you want. Yeah. So,
- 27:34Speaker 1: Buffalo beat Vegas 33-30. That was a pretty good game.
- 27:37Speaker 3: It was.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Turned into a good game, yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Yeah, they're 5-1 now. The Raiders lose their third straight
- 27:43Speaker 1: after starting 3-0. I don't really feel like that's an
- 27:45Speaker 1: ugly loss. Like, they played Buffalo to the end. So,
- 27:50Speaker 1: Bears beat the Falcons. I mean, the Bears look really good.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Caleb's back.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Caleb's back. He looks good.
- 27:58Speaker 1: The Texans beat Jacksonville at Wembley.
- 28:01Speaker 5: That was a good game, too.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Especially for a London game.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Was it good? Was it close at the end?
- 28:06Speaker 1: It was. Oh, yeah. Like, it was so close that
- 28:08Speaker 1: Cam Little came out, kicked a 60-yard field goal to
- 28:10Speaker 1: tie it, and then the Texans threw a big chunk play,
- 28:13Speaker 1: and they kicked a field goal and won it. Yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 1: It was almost like the week before, just slightly different
- 28:17Speaker 1: whenever Jacksonville won.
- 28:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like they swapped– Chiefs beat the Chargers.
- 28:20Speaker 1: The Chargers are never going to win. The Chargers and
- 28:22Speaker 1: Titans need to play and they absorb the other team.
- 28:25Speaker 5: There we go.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Whomever wins, they absorb the other team.
- 28:29Speaker 5: You get a new stadium out of it too.
- 28:32Speaker 3: They're so bad. The Chargers are so, so bad. That
- 28:34Speaker 3: offense is awful.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I see what they're thinking about already moving on from
- 28:38Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel.
- 28:38Speaker 5: You have to. Just because I think they're averaging like
- 28:42Speaker 5: 12 points.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Well, and the thing is, too, with like what drives
- 28:46Speaker 3: me nuts about him is like if you're not performing well,
- 28:48Speaker 3: you can't wear sunglasses indoors. You know what I mean? Like,
- 28:50Speaker 3: I understand that's your style. But like at some point
- 28:54Speaker 3: you just like take them off. I'm not performing well.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Or he's like Brandon.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Bad times don't make a different person. Brandon's going through
- 29:02Speaker 1: it right now with the Cowboys, being a diehard Cowboys fan,
- 29:04Speaker 1: but he's still in his jersey and his hat.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I can't stand it.
- 29:06Speaker 5: You got to hang on, man. You got to hang on.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Don't stop believing, dude. Be you.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Hold on for one more day.
- 29:11Speaker 5: You got to be Eric Church, man.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Keep those sunglasses on. Who had the worst fan base weekend?
- 29:17Speaker 1: Is it the Cowboys? Is it the Longhorns? Is it
- 29:22Speaker 1: the Colts?
- 29:23Speaker 3: Like you needed a win?
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's... And it was such a bad loss,
- 29:26Speaker 1: you fire your boss?
- 29:27Speaker 4: Yeah, because.
- 29:28Speaker 5: And they don't have a first round pick next year.
- 29:30Speaker 5: They traded it for Sauce Gardner last year. It goes
- 29:32Speaker 5: to the Jets. So they're going to be like a
- 29:34Speaker 5: top 10 pick and not even have that pick.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that hurts.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Which fan base had the worst weekend? Kevin.
- 29:41Speaker 5: I'm going to go with the Colts. I'm riding with
- 29:42Speaker 5: the Colts just for what I just said. And then
- 29:44Speaker 5: firing their GM and their season looks like it's going
- 29:47Speaker 5: downhill quick. And AFC South, now the Texans are coming
- 29:51Speaker 5: up a little bit. The Jaguars are still on top,
- 29:53Speaker 5: but the Colts are in a bad spot.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Anytime you lose a game and then fire the boss,
- 29:58Speaker 1: that's a bad week. Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Eddie, who had the worst week?
- 30:01Speaker 3: I'm going to go with the whole city of Los Angeles.
- 30:03Speaker 3: I mean, they are taking it hard. The Dodgers get eliminated.
- 30:08Speaker 3: The Chargers suck. And the Rams, like on paper, they
- 30:11Speaker 3: were going to win the Super Bowl at the beginning
- 30:13Speaker 3: of the season. And now they are what? Two and three?
- 30:16Speaker 3: Two and four? Whatever they are. I mean, it's just
- 30:19Speaker 3: that fan base is hurting if they have a fan base.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I'm going to go with the Texas Longhorns.
- 30:27Speaker 4: They're crying.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Their number one five-star quarterback probably.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Isn't good.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Not even isn't as good as we thought. Just isn't good.
- 30:41Speaker 1: And it just makes me happy when they're sad.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Their misery makes you happy.
- 30:47Speaker 1: That's all I have.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Have you ever wanted to be backing Austin so bad
- 30:50Speaker 5: in your life?
- 30:51Speaker 1: I do love Austin. It's a weird life I live.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Because the people are great.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Austin's my favorite city.
- 30:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Austin's my favorite city. Other than Fayetteville. Like home, Austin,
- 31:00Speaker 1: my favorite city.
- 31:01Speaker 5: But you'd be surrounded by them right now, sad Texas fans.
- 31:03Speaker 5: That seems like your dream right now.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Except my team sucks. But you won.
- 31:08Speaker 3: I know.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I know.
- 31:10Speaker 3: I know.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Okay. All right, let's bring in national college sports reporter
- 31:20Speaker 1: from CBS Sports, John Talti. You can follow him on
- 31:22Speaker 1: Twitter at J-T-A-L-T-Y. So John, I know you weren't out
- 31:27Speaker 1: of the game this week. You got to watch it all.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I mean, was the most shocking result the Auburn-Georgia game
- 31:33Speaker 1: to you?
- 31:34Speaker 6: That is the one that definitely shocked me the most.
- 31:37Speaker 6: I think it speaks to the beauty and horror of
- 31:40Speaker 6: the SEC that anything is possible any given week. And
- 31:44Speaker 6: you just know you're going to get Every team's best shot.
- 31:47Speaker 6: But that one, I mean, I just did not in
- 31:49Speaker 6: any way expect it. Looking back with some hindsight, you
- 31:52Speaker 6: can see, okay, Georgia's coming off this really.
- 31:56Speaker 4: Hard, tough-fought road win at Alabama.
- 31:59Speaker 6: Auburn's coming off a bye, better rested. You know they're
- 32:02Speaker 6: going to give their best shot against Georgia. But that
- 32:05Speaker 6: was still an absolute stunner in what was a day
- 32:08Speaker 6: of stunners, really. But that, by far, is the number
- 32:11Speaker 6: one that surprised me the most.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that one I was shocked by. I was at
- 32:16Speaker 1: the Arkansas game, obviously. They were here in town, so
- 32:18Speaker 1: it was the first time I'd ever got to go
- 32:19Speaker 1: to an Arkansas game in town. So we kind of
- 32:22Speaker 1: watched it up on the board, but I did get
- 32:24Speaker 1: to watch Texas get beat.
- 32:25Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 32:26Speaker 1: It made my heart go pitter-patter. I enjoy nothing more
- 32:29Speaker 1: than Texas getting beat. So what do you think, and
- 32:31Speaker 1: I was reading your article that came out Sunday, what
- 32:32Speaker 1: do you think needs to happen in Austin now that
- 32:35Speaker 1: Texas has two losses already?
- 32:37Speaker 6: Need to take, I think, a long, hard look in
- 32:39Speaker 6: the mirror and figure out what is going wrong and
- 32:43Speaker 6: what the short-term fixes that are available to them. And also,
- 32:47Speaker 6: I think there need to be some real long-term fixes,
- 32:50Speaker 6: but that's maybe a separate question for later.
- 32:52Speaker 4: On in the year.
- 32:52Speaker 6: But I mean, Bob, we've talked about Texas issues multiple
- 32:55Speaker 6: times on the show, and they're not getting better. They're
- 32:58Speaker 6: getting worse. And at a certain point, you have to
- 33:00Speaker 6: accept that You know, this is not a bug. This
- 33:03Speaker 6: is a feature for where things look right now. And
- 33:05Speaker 6: so that might mean considering a quarterback change. That is
- 33:09Speaker 6: an extreme move given Arch Manning's stature and how well
- 33:14Speaker 6: known he is and all that. But he's not getting
- 33:16Speaker 6: it done. So that's part of it. And then what
- 33:18Speaker 6: kind of offensive changes can you make in general? I mean,
- 33:21Speaker 6: part of the problem, Bobby, is that Steve Sarkeesian, the
- 33:23Speaker 6: head coach, is also the offensive play caller. That has
- 33:27Speaker 6: not been working this season. But when you look at
- 33:30Speaker 6: the rest of the coaching staff, there's not really an
- 33:33Speaker 6: obvious name who can step up and take on those responsibilities,
- 33:36Speaker 6: even if he wanted to give up some control of
- 33:38Speaker 6: the offense. So that's part of the problem for this
- 33:41Speaker 6: year's team of like you could see At the end
- 33:44Speaker 6: of the year, do you clean house a bit? Do
- 33:47Speaker 6: you bring in an offensive coordinator who has a much
- 33:50Speaker 6: stronger voice and that Sark respects and lets him do
- 33:53Speaker 6: what he wants to do? We saw that a few
- 33:55Speaker 6: years ago with Jimbo Fisher finally bringing in a guy
- 33:57Speaker 6: like Bobby Petrino. As it stands right now, they need
- 34:01Speaker 6: to make changes on offense. It is not working. It
- 34:03Speaker 6: has not been nearly effective. And I think, again, we've
- 34:07Speaker 6: talked about it, Bobby. They've been kind of wobbling for
- 34:09Speaker 6: a while, and now they have finally toppled over. And
- 34:13Speaker 6: it's time to look around and figure out how do
- 34:15Speaker 6: we get back on our feet and how do we
- 34:17Speaker 6: have to play a very hard Ole Miss team coming up.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Do you think Arch gets benched if they lose again?
- 34:24Speaker 4: I think you have to.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Sometimes you need to bench the guy for him to
- 34:44Speaker 6: be able to see it differently and give another guy
- 34:47Speaker 6: a shot. And, you know, it's outside the SEC purview,
- 34:51Speaker 6: but look at what happened to Michigan this past week,
- 34:53Speaker 6: where they have this highly paid guy and Bryce Underwood,
- 34:56Speaker 6: who has not been getting it done. And they finally
- 35:00Speaker 6: pulled him and they inserted in Tommy Carr.
- 35:02Speaker 4: And guess what?
- 35:02Speaker 6: They won the game because Carr gave them something different,
- 35:06Speaker 6: provided that jolt of energy that they needed. And that
- 35:08Speaker 6: was a very hard decision given how much Underwood's being
- 35:11Speaker 6: paid for my number one overall recruit. Like there's some
- 35:14Speaker 6: similar similarities to it with Arch and Texas and that
- 35:18Speaker 6: you don't want to do that, but they've got this
- 35:21Speaker 6: guy in KJ Lacey, you know, waiting in the wings.
- 35:24Speaker 6: I know it kind of came out today that he'll
- 35:26Speaker 6: be getting more first team reps. I think just to
- 35:28Speaker 6: try to bring him along a bit that if you
- 35:31Speaker 6: had to make a move, he has a better shot
- 35:32Speaker 6: of succeeding. But I do think if, If Arch looks
- 35:36Speaker 6: really bad this weekend, if they lose again, then you
- 35:39Speaker 6: do absolutely have to consider it, knowing that you'd already
- 35:43Speaker 6: have three losses before even getting out of October. Your
- 35:46Speaker 6: playoff hopes would take a massive hit at that point.
- 35:48Speaker 6: And you might have to start thinking toward the future,
- 35:50Speaker 6: which KJ Lacey is a big part of that potential
- 35:53Speaker 6: future for Texas.
- 35:54Speaker 1: So then let's just stay here for a second. So
- 35:56Speaker 1: let's say the season ends, whatever happens with Texas happens.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You think Arch, Arch transfers? Do you think Arch still declares?
- 36:05Speaker 1: Do you think Texas wants Arch to stay? If you
- 36:07Speaker 1: were having to make just guess based on right now,
- 36:10Speaker 1: what would you think?
- 36:11Speaker 6: This has happened a couple times recently where... it kind
- 36:15Speaker 6: of feels like there needs to be a breakup and
- 36:18Speaker 6: the player has to decide, do I go to the
- 36:19Speaker 6: NFL where maybe my stock is not as high as
- 36:22Speaker 6: it needs to be, or do I have to go elsewhere?
- 36:26Speaker 6: And that will be a big part of, I think,
- 36:28Speaker 6: his decision-making process is finding out where would I potentially project.
- 36:33Speaker 6: As it stands right now, I think Arch Manning absolutely
- 36:36Speaker 6: should have to come back for.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Another year of eligibility.
- 36:39Speaker 6: And it does feel like that place that makes the
- 36:42Speaker 6: most sense is is not an Austin, Texas. Because not
- 36:46Speaker 6: only is it, I think, not working, but it might
- 36:50Speaker 6: sound like how I'm talking that I'm putting a lot
- 36:52Speaker 6: of this blame on Arch.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Let me flip it around for a second.
- 36:54Speaker 6: I don't think Texas has developed Arch the way that
- 36:56Speaker 6: he has needed to be developed. I think it's been
- 36:58Speaker 6: a concern in Texas for years now. If you go back,
- 37:01Speaker 6: you look at a guy, Quinn Ewers, who was a
- 37:03Speaker 6: five-star recruit who never quite developed the way people expected
- 37:06Speaker 6: him to. Ended up being, I think, a seventh-round pick
- 37:09Speaker 6: when he was, at one point, top quarterback in the country. So,
- 37:12Speaker 6: I think if I were Arch, I'd be thinking, OK,
- 37:15Speaker 6: I thought I was going to NFL draft this at
- 37:17Speaker 6: the end of the season. That's not going to happen.
- 37:19Speaker 6: Where can I go where I can find somebody who
- 37:22Speaker 6: is going to have the best shot of developing my
- 37:24Speaker 6: skill set for the future and also give me a
- 37:28Speaker 6: chance to succeed at a level that I want to?
- 37:31Speaker 6: And maybe there's a little bit less pressure than what
- 37:33Speaker 6: I'm facing at Texas. If you might remember Bobby, he
- 37:37Speaker 6: actually strongly considered UVA coming out of high school because
- 37:40Speaker 6: I think he has a sister and maybe even his
- 37:42Speaker 6: mom went there. So there's a family tied to UVA. Now,
- 37:45Speaker 6: would it seem crazy for him to transfer to Texas
- 37:47Speaker 6: to UVA?
- 37:48Speaker 4: Sure.
- 37:49Speaker 6: But maybe that's the kind of environment that he needs
- 37:52Speaker 6: to kind of get back on track and succeed with
- 37:54Speaker 6: a well-regarded offensive mind like somebody like Tony Elliott at UVA.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Or would Miami want him?
- 38:01Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 38:02Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know that he fits exactly, but
- 38:06Speaker 6: we know that they're going to like a transfer QB.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Now, here's a wild one.
- 38:11Speaker 6: And I say this with no knowledge, but somebody mentioned
- 38:13Speaker 6: this to me the other day. What if Arch went
- 38:16Speaker 6: to Ole Miss? And that would be interesting. Obviously, his
- 38:20Speaker 6: dad was at Ole Miss, his grandfather, his uncle. Ole
- 38:24Speaker 6: Miss is going to be potentially in the need of
- 38:27Speaker 6: a quarterback as Trina Chambliss goes to the next level.
- 38:29Speaker 6: They do have a guy named Deuce Knight who projects
- 38:32Speaker 6: as a potential starter in the future. But that would
- 38:34Speaker 6: be kind of interesting. I just think he needs to, again,
- 38:37Speaker 6: find a place where he can be best developed. And
- 38:40Speaker 6: so I do think if I were Arch, Miami would
- 38:43Speaker 6: be attractive to me, especially if Shannon Dawson comes. The
- 38:46Speaker 6: offensive coordinator is still there. But I could see Miami
- 38:50Speaker 6: setting their sights a little higher initially, which again, sounds
- 38:54Speaker 6: crazy given how we talked about Arch Manning coming into
- 38:56Speaker 6: the season. But that's kind of how far his stock
- 38:58Speaker 6: has fallen thus far into the season.
- 39:02Speaker 1: You think Ohio State's going to be fine without Julian Sayen?
- 39:05Speaker 1: I do.
- 39:06Speaker 6: I mean, fine is relative, right? Is it going to
- 39:08Speaker 6: look as good as it has? Of course not. But
- 39:11Speaker 6: I think finding a way to beat Indiana the way
- 39:14Speaker 6: that they did gives them some buffer headed down the stretch. Now,
- 39:18Speaker 6: this is outside of Indiana. This is their most challenging
- 39:21Speaker 6: stretch coming up here. I'm planning on being at a
- 39:25Speaker 6: game they've got early November against Oregon. That's going to
- 39:27Speaker 6: be a critical game for Oregon. It's at Ohio state.
- 39:30Speaker 6: That helps a bit. Seems like Julian saying, as of
- 39:33Speaker 6: the information that we know right now, it's not going
- 39:34Speaker 6: to be available for that game, but we'll see how
- 39:37Speaker 6: he progresses these next few weeks.
- 39:38Speaker 4: But I think that they have.
- 39:40Speaker 6: Enough talent to, on that roster to be able to
- 39:44Speaker 6: survive and kind of tread water. Like maybe you drop
- 39:47Speaker 6: a game to Oregon, but can you beat Northwestern? Can
- 39:50Speaker 6: you beat some of the other teams that are coming
- 39:52Speaker 6: up on the schedule for you so that you're at
- 39:54Speaker 6: least still very much in that playoff hunt? I think
- 39:57Speaker 6: they can. Having a guy like Jeremiah Smith helps. The
- 40:01Speaker 6: run game is probably going to need to carry more
- 40:03Speaker 6: of the load moving forward. I think it's capable of
- 40:05Speaker 6: doing that. And then, you know, as I wrote over
- 40:07Speaker 6: the weekend at CBS Sports, like, The defense is very good.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Matt Patricia's defense is doing a great job. They're able
- 40:12Speaker 6: to hold teams to some of the best stats in
- 40:15Speaker 6: the country when it comes to scoring defense and pass defense,
- 40:18Speaker 6: all these different things. And so I do think you
- 40:21Speaker 6: just might need to go more game manager with Julian
- 40:24Speaker 6: Sands replacement, which we think is going to be, you know,
- 40:26Speaker 6: true freshman Luke Fahey. And from there, just try to
- 40:29Speaker 6: protect the ball and survive for the next few weeks.
- 40:32Speaker 6: And then you hope that you have Sands maybe by
- 40:34Speaker 6: the end of the season into the kind of that
- 40:36Speaker 6: playoff run that we expect them to make.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Is Tennessee a contender now?
- 40:40Speaker 4: I definitely think they can be.
- 40:42Speaker 6: I mean, I think the question has always been, Bobby,
- 40:46Speaker 6: can the offense keep up with what we know the
- 40:48Speaker 6: defense is capable of doing? The defense has been playoff
- 40:51Speaker 6: contender all season, right? And You go back to how
- 40:55Speaker 6: they probably should have beaten Texas and how close they
- 40:58Speaker 6: came in that game. And then just the performance that
- 41:00Speaker 6: they had against Alabama was terrific. And I would say
- 41:04Speaker 6: outside of Auburn, Georgia, my number two most shocking one
- 41:08Speaker 6: was Bama, Tennessee. Frankly, I just did not think Tennessee's
- 41:12Speaker 6: offense could keep up with what Alabama was going to
- 41:14Speaker 6: be able to do with the way we've seen them
- 41:16Speaker 6: be so effective in a lot of different games previously.
- 41:20Speaker 4: So I was very impressed there.
- 41:22Speaker 6: By not only the defense, which we expected, but even
- 41:24Speaker 6: just the offense and what they were able to do
- 41:25Speaker 6: at times. So it's never going to look super pretty.
- 41:28Speaker 6: But I do think that Josh Heupel deserves a lot
- 41:31Speaker 6: of credit for going to George McIntyre, who not as
- 41:35Speaker 6: highly regarded as Faison Brandon coming into the season. Brandon
- 41:39Speaker 6: won the quarterback battle, former number one overall recruit. It
- 41:42Speaker 6: didn't look great. He got banged up. And now they
- 41:46Speaker 6: feel like they have a little something going here. They've
- 41:48Speaker 6: got some momentum here. And what would make me most bullish,
- 41:52Speaker 6: I think, on Tennessee, frankly, Bobby, is that their schedule
- 41:56Speaker 6: the remainder of their way is very manageable. Now, they
- 41:59Speaker 6: are an underdog to South Carolina this weekend. That feels
- 42:02Speaker 6: kind of crazy based on what we just saw. Maybe
- 42:04Speaker 6: speaks to the up and down nature of the SEC.
- 42:06Speaker 6: But just when you look at their schedule on paper,
- 42:09Speaker 6: it feels like a 10-2 type team. And if that
- 42:12Speaker 6: is what ends up being the case, and that includes,
- 42:16Speaker 6: of course, that win over Alabama last weekend, that's a
- 42:18Speaker 6: playoff team right there.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the SEC is starting to feel like the NFL where,
- 42:23Speaker 1: who knows, the Browns might actually be good. It's one
- 42:26Speaker 1: of those weird situations where even looking at Kentucky, I
- 42:29Speaker 1: actually now don't think they're just surprising teams. I think
- 42:31Speaker 1: they're actually pretty good. I think Will Stein has offensively
- 42:36Speaker 1: made them feel like they can win. And I know
- 42:39Speaker 1: we're basing a lot on the end of two games.
- 42:42Speaker 1: At least I am. My feelings on he believes in them,
- 42:44Speaker 1: he's made them believe in them. But I feel like
- 42:45Speaker 1: Kentucky's actually just a pretty good team if their name's
- 42:49Speaker 1: Kentucky or it's not Kentucky. What do you think about that?
- 42:52Speaker 6: I almost think they're being underrated because their name is Kentucky.
- 42:56Speaker 6: I think if their name was Georgia, we'd be even
- 42:58Speaker 6: more excited about them probably. And I will admit that
- 43:01Speaker 6: I think I discounted some of what they did in
- 43:04Speaker 6: the offseason. I thought how Will Stein approached his first
- 43:08Speaker 6: roster interview was super smart. They invested heavily in the
- 43:10Speaker 6: offensive line. And I thought they would be a better
- 43:13Speaker 6: team this year. But you're still like, that's Kentucky. Are
- 43:16Speaker 6: they really going to be that good? And so far,
- 43:18Speaker 6: they have been that good. They are another team that
- 43:22Speaker 6: is a playoff contender where we sit today, which is crazy.
- 43:27Speaker 6: It's crazy to think of Kentucky as a playoff contender
- 43:29Speaker 6: in a 12-team playoff to begin with.
- 43:31Speaker 4: But especially with a first year head coach.
- 43:34Speaker 6: So I think what Will Stein is doing at Kentucky
- 43:37Speaker 6: and what Bob Chesney is doing at UCLA, like those
- 43:40Speaker 6: are your two mid-season coach of the year type guys,
- 43:43Speaker 6: just because of how, you know, how much they had
- 43:46Speaker 6: to do in such a short timeframe and how good
- 43:48Speaker 6: it is looking so far.
- 43:49Speaker 4: So I think Kentucky is, is legit.
- 43:52Speaker 6: And let's remember like, They gave Alabama all they could
- 43:55Speaker 6: handle for a half early on in the year. And
- 43:57Speaker 6: at the time, we thought, maybe it's just Bama playing bad.
- 43:59Speaker 6: But now you're like, Kentucky actually was pretty.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Good in that game.
- 44:03Speaker 6: And they faded down the stretch. They couldn't keep up.
- 44:05Speaker 6: But that was probably a good learning moment for them. Like,
- 44:07Speaker 6: all right, we can go toe-to-toe for at least a
- 44:09Speaker 6: half with what we consider to be one of the
- 44:11Speaker 6: better teams in the country. And they've just been building
- 44:15Speaker 6: off of that since. And so I think we'll has
- 44:18Speaker 6: something good going there. And, you know, I bumped into
- 44:21Speaker 6: a Kentucky booster recently and it's like, now is the time. Like,
- 44:25Speaker 6: is there a moment here for Kentucky where I know
- 44:27Speaker 6: that they love their basketball, but can you direct more
- 44:30Speaker 6: funds toward football and like take what is a, you know,
- 44:33Speaker 6: what looks like a really strong proof of concept this
- 44:35Speaker 6: year and pour some gasoline on that and get that thing,
- 44:38Speaker 6: you know, shooting even.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Higher next year.
- 44:40Speaker 6: It feels like there's a lot of potential with a
- 44:43Speaker 6: Kentucky like program and, you know, if Indiana can do it,
- 44:46Speaker 6: why can't Kentucky do it? And I think you're going
- 44:48Speaker 6: to see more of those stories potentially, not quite to
- 44:50Speaker 6: Indiana's level of success, but more teams kind of come
- 44:53Speaker 6: out of nowhere in this kind of current era of
- 44:56Speaker 6: college football.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Two final questions. What'd you think of the Miami Florida
- 44:59Speaker 1: State ending?
- 45:00Speaker 6: I thought Florida State got the shaft, honestly. I thought
- 45:03Speaker 6: Florida State, I mean, kind of back-to-back plays, right? I
- 45:06Speaker 6: think both of them went against Florida State. And so,
- 45:11Speaker 6: It's something I feel like it comes up every year,
- 45:14Speaker 6: and maybe this is recency bias, Bobby, but it feels
- 45:16Speaker 6: like the officiating is worse this year. I mean, you
- 45:19Speaker 6: go back to the Michigan-Western Michigan deal. you know florida
- 45:23Speaker 6: state miami notre dame byu i mean there's these really
- 45:27Speaker 6: uh alabama georgia i was at that game like there
- 45:30Speaker 6: was these really impactful decisions that are happening in college
- 45:34Speaker 6: sports that are not being called correctly and i think
- 45:37Speaker 6: that they have invested a lot of money in these
- 45:39Speaker 6: replay centers and they're showing more transparency of how these
- 45:43Speaker 6: things work but it's still a challenge. And a lot
- 45:47Speaker 6: of these calls do not seem to be landing in
- 45:50Speaker 6: the right place. And so if I were Florida State,
- 45:53Speaker 6: I'd be mad, especially knowing that Mike Norvell is fighting
- 45:57Speaker 6: to keep his job.
- 45:58Speaker 4: He needs any win he can get.
- 46:01Speaker 6: And that win would have been huge for the Florida
- 46:04Speaker 6: State program, which has struggled all season, already fired its AD.
- 46:08Speaker 6: That's a tough one to swallow, especially now going into
- 46:11Speaker 6: a bye week. You just have to think about it.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Final question, if Notre Dame loses another game with the
- 46:17Speaker 1: weak schedule they've had, is there any chance they missed
- 46:20Speaker 1: a playoff with only two losses?
- 46:22Speaker 4: Is there a chance? Absolutely.
- 46:24Speaker 6: Now, they have this thing that they negotiated into their deal,
- 46:27Speaker 6: one of probably the great deal-making moves ever done, that
- 46:32Speaker 6: if they finish ranked in the top 12, they are
- 46:34Speaker 6: guaranteed to be in. And so they just need to
- 46:37Speaker 6: hang around, even if it's at the bottom of the
- 46:39Speaker 6: top 12, and they're getting a spot in. I think
- 46:43Speaker 6: it is going to be critical for them. Obviously, they
- 46:45Speaker 6: have to win every other game, but I think it'll
- 46:47Speaker 6: be especially critical. They're going to need SMU to keep winning.
- 46:51Speaker 6: That SMU game has to get bigger and bigger and
- 46:54Speaker 6: bigger and feel like it's a huge deal when they
- 46:57Speaker 6: play it.
- 46:57Speaker 4: And of course, they're going to have to beat SMU.
- 47:00Speaker 6: I think if SMU is a top 15, maybe top
- 47:04Speaker 6: 20 game, they win. That gives them that marquee win
- 47:07Speaker 6: they do not have right now. maybe you play Miami close.
- 47:11Speaker 6: I think you can sneak your way in at maybe
- 47:14Speaker 6: that 10, 11 spot at the bottom. But people are
- 47:19Speaker 6: going to be mad about.
- 47:20Speaker 4: It, Bobby.
- 47:20Speaker 6: You can almost feel the outrage building already, but here's
- 47:23Speaker 6: the truth. And we saw it happen, play out this
- 47:25Speaker 6: past weekend. The SEC is going to be a demolition derby.
- 47:28Speaker 6: We're already seeing that. We might see a ton of
- 47:31Speaker 6: nine and three SEC type teams, even really good potentially
- 47:35Speaker 6: teams that are eight and four. So at some point
- 47:38Speaker 6: could attend into Notre Dame team that really has not
- 47:40Speaker 6: beaten anyone, get in over a nine and three SEC team.
- 47:43Speaker 6: You could see that debate happening yet again this season.
- 47:48Speaker 4: So it's buckle up now because it just feels like
- 47:51Speaker 4: it's coming.
- 47:52Speaker 6: And there's going to be a lot of outrage in
- 47:54Speaker 6: the part of the country that you and I live
- 47:55Speaker 6: in Bobby.
- 47:56Speaker 1: All right. So his book is amazing. Lane being lane.
- 47:59Speaker 1: If you're looking for a new book to read, it
- 48:01Speaker 1: is really great. He doesn't pay me to say that.
- 48:03Speaker 1: So it's John Talty. John, thank you again for talking
- 48:06Speaker 1: with us. You going to a game next week? Or
- 48:09Speaker 1: this week, I guess? I need to figure it out.
- 48:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:11Speaker 4: This slate's not great, Bobby.
- 48:13Speaker 6: This past weekend, it was like there were so many
- 48:16Speaker 6: good games that I didn't want to go there, go anywhere,
- 48:18Speaker 6: because I just want to watch them all.
- 48:19Speaker 4: This week, it's like, I don't know. So, potentially.
- 48:22Speaker 6: I mean, the best game is Ole Miss-Texas. But otherwise,
- 48:24Speaker 6: the slate's a little weaker this year. But maybe I'll
- 48:27Speaker 6: head somewhere.
- 48:28Speaker 1: At JTalty. Hey, John, thank you. And hopefully, we'll talk
- 48:30Speaker 1: to you soon.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Sounds good. Appreciate it.

- 49:41Speaker 2: looking at coach approvals.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Per the SEC and the fan bases. Who do you
- 49:47Speaker 1: think has the number one coach approval right now of
- 49:49Speaker 1: every SEC football team? This is from the whole season here.
- 49:53Speaker 1: The highest overall is an 85% approval rating, which is significant.
- 49:56Speaker 1: And it's 20 points higher than any other school.
- 49:58Speaker 4: Georgia.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Kirby Smart.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Kirby Smart comes in at number five.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Wow.
- 50:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Haters. I think they just expect greatness at this point.
- 50:06Speaker 5: I guess.
- 50:07Speaker 1: So we're happy. Now show me more. Okay.
- 50:10Speaker 3: DeBoer? Alabama?
- 50:12Speaker 8: No.
- 50:13Speaker 1: At number seven.
- 50:14Speaker 5: Why can't it be Mississippi State? Number two.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Now, they're not used to winning, but Jeff Levy's the
- 50:18Speaker 1: coach there, obviously. And they are at number two at 65%
- 50:21Speaker 1: coach approval because they don't win. And they're competing and
- 50:27Speaker 1: winning a little bit. Number one, 85%, 20 points above
- 50:31Speaker 1: everybody else. Their color is blue.
- 50:33Speaker 5: Kentucky?
- 50:34Speaker 1: Kentucky.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Will Stein. They love him.
- 50:37Speaker 5: He's the dude.
- 50:38Speaker 1: He's gone for it twice to win the game. Like
- 50:40Speaker 1: gone for two to win those games. And hit both times.
- 50:44Speaker 1: It's pretty amazing. So at one is Will Stein at Kentucky.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Jeff Levy's at two. Pete Golding's at three at Ole Miss.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Summerall's at four at Florida. I wonder if that was
- 50:55Speaker 1: before the two losses.
- 50:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:57Speaker 9: Three.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Kirby Smart at five. Golish at six with Auburn, 57%.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Alabama at 7. Tennessee at 8. Oklahoma at 9. South
- 51:07Speaker 1: Carolina at 10. Still over 50% Shane Beamer.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Wow.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Missouri at 11. Who do you think is last?
- 51:13Speaker 3: Yeah, your guy.
- 51:13Speaker 5: Don't tell me Lane Kiffin.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin is 12th at 49%. The expectation wasn't high
- 51:19Speaker 1: for us, so the fan base isn't really that as
- 51:21Speaker 1: sad as you would think because we have sucked for
- 51:25Speaker 1: a long time.
- 51:26Speaker 5: It's still bad.
- 51:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 51:28Speaker 1: But it's not angry.
- 51:31Speaker 6: Mad.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Who do you think has had a very, very disappointing season?
- 51:35Speaker 1: Like so disappointed that the fans are just pissed.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Clark Lee.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Last place, Vanderbilt, Clark Lee, 36%. Really?
- 51:42Speaker 7: Wow.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Which feels a bit unfair because he made them good
- 51:44Speaker 1: and they haven't been good forever.
- 51:45Speaker 8: Yes.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Yes, forever.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Texas A & M is at 15th. Oh, okay. So
- 51:49Speaker 1: Vanderbilt 16th, Texas A & M 15th.
- 51:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:52Speaker 1: And then Arkansas is at 14th. But Texas Mike's at 13th,
- 51:55Speaker 1: the fourth from the bottom.
- 51:57Speaker 5: That's low.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Not loving Sark? I mean, I like Sark.
- 52:01Speaker 5: I'd put him higher.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Is that because you just can't go to the national championship?
- 52:05Speaker 1: Can't win the national championship.
- 52:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:07Speaker 5: Have they gone?
- 52:08Speaker 3: They haven't gone.
- 52:08Speaker 1: No. They made it to the semis.
- 52:09Speaker 3: They can't even go.
- 52:10Speaker 7: Yeah, we've been a game away the.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Last two years. Oh, my God. Yeah, I hate him now.
- 52:14Speaker 1: You got to get there, buddy.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Got to get there, man.
- 52:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Suck it up. So they did negative mentions per 1,000 comments.
- 52:24Speaker 1: That's how they do this. They just track a fan
- 52:26Speaker 1: base by looking at their social media. So being an
- 52:31Speaker 1: SEC coach would be awesome, but it would also be
- 52:34Speaker 1: awful if it wasn't awesome.
- 52:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 52:39Speaker 1: It'd be amazing to be an SEC football coach. And
- 52:42Speaker 1: then it'd be awful if it wasn't amazing. There's no middle.
- 52:45Speaker 8: No.
- 52:46Speaker 5: Because for Kirby Smart to be number five, that's crazy.
- 52:49Speaker 1: It's like when Nick Saban used to get mad at
- 52:51Speaker 1: the fans because they'd play, you know, like a GB.
- 52:56Speaker 1: or G6 team. I don't even know what numbers there
- 52:58Speaker 1: are now, but not a power four team. And the
- 53:00Speaker 1: fans would show up 75% of the stadium. They wouldn't
- 53:02Speaker 1: be that loud. He'd be like, dude, what do we
- 53:04Speaker 1: have to do? We've won national championships. You're not even
- 53:06Speaker 1: showing up.
- 53:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 53:07Speaker 5: But you just get used to it. You just get
- 53:10Speaker 5: used to winning. As a Patriots fan, I feel that.
- 53:14Speaker 1: But that's why people don't like Patriots fans. Whenever you
- 53:16Speaker 1: say stuff like that.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Exactly what you just said.
- 53:19Speaker 1: How many Patriot games have you been to?
- 53:22Speaker 3: Oh.
- 53:22Speaker 1: In that stadium.
- 53:23Speaker 5: In that stadium?
- 53:23Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Three?
- 53:27Speaker 5: I think three.
- 53:27Speaker 1: What do you think of that stadium?
- 53:28Speaker 4: Eh, it's average.
- 53:30Speaker 5: It's so-so. They've lost all three that I've been there, too, though.
- 53:33Speaker 5: So I'm like, I don't think I can ever go back.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Oh.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Hey, don't think so much of yourself, Patriots fan, that
- 53:37Speaker 1: you think you are actually affecting if the Patriots are
- 53:40Speaker 1: winning or losing.
- 53:41Speaker 5: I'm just saying, they're all Brady-era days, too, and they
- 53:44Speaker 5: lost all three of them, which they lost like six
- 53:45Speaker 5: games at home in 20 years, and I was at
- 53:47Speaker 5: three of them.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I would feel that way, too.
- 53:49Speaker 1: If you could go to any stadium, what is it? Lambeau.
- 53:52Speaker 3: To watch a football game?
- 53:53Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 53:54Speaker 5: No, no.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Dude, watch a bullfight. What do you think we're talking
- 53:57Speaker 1: about here? The Coliseum.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Bullfight.
- 54:01Speaker 5: You want to see a banana ball or what?
- 54:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:04Speaker 1: You said Lambeau?
- 54:04Speaker 9: Lambeau.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Yeah, Lambeau would be my first pick.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Just because of the history?
- 54:08Speaker 5: Yeah, just because it's Lambeau. I think the whole history
- 54:10Speaker 5: of it and like a night game there would be cool.
- 54:15Speaker 5: I can't think of any other stadium that popped into
- 54:16Speaker 5: my head right away.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Okay. I kind of feel the same way that he's
- 54:20Speaker 3: talking about Lambeau, but with Soldier Field.
- 54:22Speaker 4: Well, they're moving.
- 54:22Speaker 1: They're moving.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Well, let's get to one now then.
- 54:25Speaker 1: You can probably go in for cheap soon.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Where are they going? Like next to it? Or are
- 54:29Speaker 3: they moving to a whole different spot?
- 54:30Speaker 1: No, they're not going next to it. Are they still
- 54:32Speaker 1: going to Indiana? I don't even know where that ended.
- 54:35Speaker 1: But is that, I don't know if that's final, is it?
- 54:37Speaker 1: Because I have a bunch of friends that live in Chicago.
- 54:39Speaker 3: In Indiana?
- 54:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's only 25 minutes up the road.
- 54:42Speaker 5: But I am in Indiana.
- 54:44Speaker 1: So is that final?
- 54:45Speaker 5: No, they said it's still weighing the options.
- 54:48Speaker 3: That's like the Giants playing in Jersey. You know, like.
- 54:52Speaker 3: And the Jets, they play in Jersey.
- 54:54Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 54:55Speaker 3: Which I guess it still feels like you're in the city,
- 54:57Speaker 3: but I mean, going to a whole different state feels weird.
- 54:59Speaker 1: New York and New Jersey feel like the same to me.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Illinois and Indiana doesn't feel the same to me.
- 55:02Speaker 8: No.
- 55:03Speaker 1: As somebody from far away. Yeah.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Well, and to be fair, the Cowboys play in Arlington.
- 55:07Speaker 3: They don't even play in Dallas.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Arlington's a suburb, though.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, it's a different city.
- 55:12Speaker 1: We're talking different states right now, though.
- 55:14Speaker 4: I know.
- 55:14Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 55:15Speaker 7: That's crazy.
- 55:16Speaker 3: When you said Indiana, I'm like, no, he can't be right.
- 55:18Speaker 1: But the funny thing is, it's like less than a
- 55:19Speaker 1: half hour away from the stadium now.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:22Speaker 1: So you go Lambeau you go you want to go
- 55:24Speaker 1: to Soldier Field Soldier.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Field I guess we got to go this year yeah
- 55:26Speaker 3: next couple years.
- 55:28Speaker 1: It would have been Cowboys just to see the big
- 55:31Speaker 1: screen because that was the big deal in going to
- 55:32Speaker 1: Jerry's World that's super cool I mean can I pick
- 55:35Speaker 1: Northwestern now.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Hey that stadium looks awesome those look cool because if.
- 55:39Speaker 1: You're not going to go for history go for new
- 55:42Speaker 1: go for bells and whistles and for that reason I
- 55:45Speaker 1: think going to Vegas oh yeah because I've not been
- 55:48Speaker 1: in that stadium have we not been in there For anything?
- 55:52Speaker 4: I haven't.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Allegiant, right?
- 55:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Allegiant.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I've not been an Allegiant. And so if I were
- 55:56Speaker 1: going to pick a stadium, that stadium looks comfortable and
- 55:59Speaker 1: it looks like it has all the technology.
- 56:01Speaker 5: Think about next year here, the Titan Stadium. I know
- 56:04Speaker 5: the Titan Stadium, but it'll be cool.
- 56:06Speaker 4: It'll be great.
- 56:06Speaker 3: You know, when I think about it, it'll be cool
- 56:08Speaker 3: as the Seattle one. That one looks nice.
- 56:11Speaker 5: Even the Washington, University of Washington, which is right there.
- 56:13Speaker 5: I feel like just because of the setting, there's that, what,
- 56:16Speaker 5: the lake or the ocean behind it?
- 56:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Puget Sound Stadium.
- 56:21Speaker 5: I think that's what it's called.
- 56:22Speaker 3: Is that right?
- 56:23Speaker 1: How'd you know that?
- 56:24Speaker 3: I don't know, man. A Pearl Jam fan. I'm sure
- 56:26Speaker 3: at some point they mentioned it.
- 56:29Speaker 9: Good point. Yeah.
- 56:30Speaker 3: But that Washington does look cool. But the Seahawks one
- 56:33Speaker 3: looks awesome because like even the end zone seats go
- 56:35Speaker 3: up really high. Yeah. That always looks cool. And it
- 56:38Speaker 3: seems like it's right in the middle of the city.
- 56:40Speaker 5: But it'd be tough to watch your team there just
- 56:41Speaker 5: because they're so loud and annoying and your team is
- 56:43Speaker 5: playing against that.
- 56:44Speaker 3: I get it.
- 56:44Speaker 5: That would be annoying.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:46Speaker 5: I think that.
- 56:49Speaker 1: It would be fun to go to both. I wouldn't
- 56:52Speaker 1: because I'm not going to waste time. But to go
- 56:54Speaker 1: to Michigan or Ohio State, both of those stadiums, they're
- 56:59Speaker 1: just monsters. Or Notre Dame.
- 57:03Speaker 3: Oh, yes. That would be cool.
- 57:06Speaker 1: But just for Rudy.
- 57:08Speaker 3: And touchdown Jesus. He's the one that you see on
- 57:10Speaker 3: the wall in that building.
- 57:12Speaker 5: The one that looks like Jesus.
- 57:14Speaker 3: It's a painting of Jesus, right? Yeah. And the gold dome.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Our father who art in heaven. Jesus. I love you,
- 57:20Speaker 1: the name.
- 57:21Speaker 3: I love you, the name.
- 57:22Speaker 1: You familiar with that?
- 57:23Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, man.
- 57:23Speaker 3: I know Jay-Z. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:25Speaker 4: Okay.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I know him.
- 57:26Speaker 3: All right.
- 57:27Speaker 1: If I say greatest college wide receiver ever, Eddie, who
- 57:30Speaker 1: comes to mind?
- 57:35Speaker 3: Greatest college, Julio Jones.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 57:41Speaker 3: Alabama. He was awesome, dude.
- 57:44Speaker 1: He was awesome. And they didn't really throw the ball
- 57:46Speaker 1: a whole lot either, but when they did, it was
- 57:47Speaker 1: to him. They won the national championship with him.
- 57:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Hmm. Julio Jones.
- 57:52Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of those Alabama receivers.
- 57:53Speaker 1: He was like a man amongst boys, even physically. Yeah. Like, yeah.
- 57:57Speaker 1: So yeah, Julio Jones is good. The reason I bring
- 58:01Speaker 1: this up is Jeremiah Smith, possibly the greatest college receiver ever.
- 58:05Speaker 1: He makes it look so easy. Other people on the
- 58:07Speaker 1: list are, can you name where they played?
- 58:09Speaker 4: Okay, come on.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Kevin, I know you'll get all these.
- 58:11Speaker 3: He may not. He will.
- 58:14Speaker 5: You go first.
- 58:15Speaker 3: He will. Come on.
- 58:16Speaker 1: Larry Fitzgerald.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Yeah, of course. Played for the Cardinals, but in college,
- 58:25Speaker 3: give me Arizona State.
- 58:27Speaker 1: So you're just going to Arizona. You're just going to
- 58:28Speaker 1: stick there?
- 58:29Speaker 3: That's right down the street.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Kevin?
- 58:31Speaker 8: Pitt.
- 58:31Speaker 4: Correct.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Dang, went to Pitt?
- 58:33Speaker 5: Yep, he did.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Calvin Johnson. Of course.
- 58:37Speaker 3: Illinois.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Georgia Tech. Oh, sorry, Kevin. I knew you knew that one.
- 58:42Speaker 1: Michael Crabtree.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Texas Tech.
- 58:45Speaker 4: Correct.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I remember being in Austin and watching the Halloween game
- 58:48Speaker 1: when they beat Texas.
- 58:48Speaker 5: Yeah, it was crazy.
- 58:50Speaker 1: It was a crazy game. Devonta Smith.
- 58:54Speaker 3: Alabama.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Correct.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Jamar Chase.
- 58:56Speaker 3: LSU.
- 58:57Speaker 5: Correct.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Julio Jones.
- 58:58Speaker 3: Alabama.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Correct.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Justin Blackman.
- 59:02Speaker 9: Who?
- 59:05Speaker 3: Yeah, he went to Pitt too. Yeah, old Pitt.
- 59:09Speaker 8: Old Pitt.
- 59:10Speaker 3: Big 12 oh Big 12 you should have said that
- 59:13Speaker 3: Kansas State.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Regionally you're close oh Kansas that's too.
- 59:21Speaker 3: Orange by Kansas orange Big 12, Orange. Oh, Oklahoma State.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Correct.
- 59:32Speaker 3: That's cool, dude.
- 59:35Speaker 1: That's cool, dude. He had 253 catches, 3,500 yards, and
- 59:38Speaker 1: 40 touchdowns in 38 games. Dang.
- 59:40Speaker 5: He was so good.
- 59:41Speaker 1: He played 38 games and had 40 touchdowns over that
- 59:44Speaker 1: amount of games to have more touchdowns.
- 59:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:46Speaker 3: And what did he play in the NFL?
- 59:47Speaker 4: Jaguars.
- 59:48Speaker 1: And the Jaguars sucked. So if you don't play for
- 59:53Speaker 1: a good team, it's hard, even if you're great, sometimes
- 59:56Speaker 1: to make it.
- 59:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:57Speaker 5: He didn't last very long.
- 59:57Speaker 6: Mm-mm.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he... Where did he go to school? Did he
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: go to USC?
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: So, whenever he was getting traded, I said he was
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: going to go play with his old college quarterback. We
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: had this conversation.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: So, where did he get traded to?
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Texas.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Texans. Okay, and who's the quarterback?
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Yeah, CJ. So, Ohio State. Gosh, I knew that.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: I know you did. We talked about it.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: I knew that.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: What else? Keep going. I'm out. Dude, I was just
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: getting hot.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Of all those guys, only one is one of Heisman.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: Which one was it?
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Devante.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:00:34Speaker 6: Nice, dude.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: With authority.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Thank you, guys. Thank you. I'm back. I'm back.
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: I'm back.
