On Being Charged with the Grandeur of God
Our Lord Jesus Christ speaks today to us as a pastor would speak to his flock. Christ is our Good Shepherd. He says “Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on.” Our food, our drink, and our clothing are not things outside of God’s care, He is saying. Instead, Jesus says, these are part of the Father’s ongoing care for us. He is saying, creation is God’s gift to us. To be anxious about food, drink, and clothing is to take a non-eucharistic stance.
