- 0:00Speaker 1: WKVN. Well, hi-dee-ho, boys and girls. 507 News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Ron Furb on a glorious Sear Monday afternoon. Perfect temperature.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's 66 degrees. What a great Monday we have going on.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Ron Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. Till the financial
- 0:14Speaker 1: show tonight at 6 o'clock. Rockport Wealth Truth and Investing
- 0:18Speaker 1: Program tonight. 6 to 7 on News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'll be curious to talk to that guy. That guy
- 0:25Speaker 1: I was talking to prior to the break at 5.
- 0:29Speaker 1: there's a lot I want to talk to him about.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I mean, but this SpaceX IPO that came out, and
- 0:36Speaker 1: everybody wants a chunk of it at $ 130, and he said, well,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you know, the IPO, you could buy it at like $ 150.
- 0:41Speaker 2: And..
- 0:45Speaker 1: The demand has got to be so huge. And I
- 0:48Speaker 1: don't know that the demand is huge from people that
- 0:50Speaker 1: just want to buy it and sell it. I think
- 0:52Speaker 1: a lot of people want to buy it and hang
- 0:54Speaker 1: on to it because it's Elon Musk, it's SpaceX, and
- 0:57Speaker 1: they say it could merge with Tesla and this kind
- 0:59Speaker 1: of stuff. And it's one of them that you just
- 1:01Speaker 1: say to yourself, this thing could, who knows where this
- 1:05Speaker 1: could go? I mean, like anything in the stock market,
- 1:08Speaker 1: it's a gamble. But it could make you some significant
- 1:11Speaker 1: money maybe. So I'm going to pick his brain on that.
- 1:15Speaker 1: That guy tomorrow, I'm going to pick his brain on
- 1:17Speaker 1: it more. Believe me when I tell you, he is
- 1:19Speaker 1: not a financial guy, professional financial guy. But believe me
- 1:24Speaker 1: when I tell you, he is an investor that has
- 1:27Speaker 1: made huge amounts of money. But when he starts talking
- 1:31Speaker 1: about some of that stuff, it's so far over my
- 1:33Speaker 1: head other than buying and selling when you get into
- 1:36Speaker 1: the puts and all this kind of stuff. That's a
- 1:39Speaker 1: whole different realm. But anyway... That's I'll continue. Hopefully you
- 1:45Speaker 1: call me tomorrow. I want to talk to him more
- 1:47Speaker 1: about that and and a few other things. It's it's
- 1:51Speaker 1: going to be interesting to see where things are going.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I mean, when people are talking about this situation as
- 1:55Speaker 1: far as the deal with Trump, we don't know enough
- 1:58Speaker 1: of the details yet. Make no mistake about it. I
- 2:01Speaker 1: want this thing to conclude. I mean, there's no question
- 2:05Speaker 1: in my mind that Trump's back is up against the wall, too.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And he knows he's got to reach an agreement because
- 2:12Speaker 1: we're close to what they call tank bottom as far
- 2:14Speaker 1: as our supplies are concerned. If this thing would drag on,
- 2:19Speaker 1: we will have big problems as far as inflation and
- 2:23Speaker 1: the cost of energy, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel. It can
- 2:27Speaker 1: get a whole lot worse. And there's other issues, fertilizer
- 2:30Speaker 1: and what have you, with the Strait. So there could
- 2:33Speaker 1: be many things that would be of concern if this
- 2:36Speaker 1: thing would go on. So nothing pleases me more than
- 2:39Speaker 1: if we can reach an agreement, even if it isn't
- 2:41Speaker 1: the perfect agreement, if we can reach an agreement to
- 2:44Speaker 1: open up the Strait with no tolls and work at
- 2:49Speaker 1: resolving this issue. so that we can get back to normal,
- 2:54Speaker 1: if you will, and Trump can concentrate more on the
- 2:57Speaker 1: American agenda. Let's get inflation in line, affordability, as they say.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Let's get energy prices down. Can you imagine if this
- 3:05Speaker 1: whole situation would have never started in Iran, since we
- 3:09Speaker 1: saw inflation coming down, and we also happen to see
- 3:14Speaker 1: gasoline prices in my neck of the woods here around
- 3:16Speaker 1: $ 2. 50 and declining, where we would be financially stable. if
- 3:20Speaker 1: this thing ever happened in the first place. As I've
- 3:23Speaker 1: said to you numerous times, I was not staying up
- 3:25Speaker 1: at night worried about Iran and the nuclear threat. It
- 3:28Speaker 1: wasn't on my radar screen. I wasn't worried about it then,
- 3:30Speaker 1: not worried about it now. I think the bunker buster
- 3:33Speaker 1: did its job. I mean, when they're talking about the dust,
- 3:36Speaker 1: whatever the hell they're going on with the dust, it's
- 3:38Speaker 1: buried down there. And with our satellite images, I don't
- 3:43Speaker 1: think it's much of a concern as far as what
- 3:47Speaker 1: they're up to. So as I've said to you before,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think he got involved in this because of Netanyahu,
- 3:53Speaker 1: in my opinion. And I certainly would like to see it,
- 3:57Speaker 1: them not drag us back into it. I want to
- 3:59Speaker 1: see Trump stand tall against that and say, listen, we
- 4:02Speaker 1: got to get out in America's best interest and get
- 4:06Speaker 1: the straight open, get energy prices down, work on inflation.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And if they say they got an agreement that's been what,
- 4:15Speaker 1: like digitally signed as, As I understand it, and I
- 4:18Speaker 1: guess J.D. Vance will be going for the official signing,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and hopefully things will work out. You're on air.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I'll believe it when I see it.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Well, I can't fault you for that, but let's be
- 4:32Speaker 1: more positive than negative. Hopefully that will happen this week
- 4:36Speaker 1: when the details will come out.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I've been positive 35 times.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're right about that. So let's see what happens.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm not arguing with you. I want to see it too.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm optimistic more so this time than ever.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Oh, good. I'm glad you are.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I mean, I would like to see it work out
- 4:59Speaker 1: for everybody involved.
- 5:01Speaker 4: So would I.
- 5:03Speaker 3: But until then, I don't want to.
- 5:05Speaker 1: In other words, you've been told there's an agreement so
- 5:08Speaker 1: many times, you're skeptical this time until... Of course, they
- 5:11Speaker 1: say it was digitally signed, J.J., the liberal. They say
- 5:14Speaker 1: it was all digitally signed off.
- 5:15Speaker 5: What the hell does digitally signed mean?
- 5:16Speaker 6: What the hell does that mean?
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, it's like, have you ever done a real estate
- 5:19Speaker 1: thing where you docusign, where you electronically sign instead of
- 5:23Speaker 1: in person? That's what that means.
- 5:26Speaker 4: But..
- 5:26Speaker 6: I'm... You know, whatever. You know, because I owe you
- 5:33Speaker 6: a If it does, I owe you a gallon of..
- 5:37Speaker 1: Milo's... Listen to me, JJ.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I've got to save my pennies.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yes. I've got to get that..
- 5:45Speaker 1: Now, here's how it works, though, because it's $ 4. 20 a gallon,
- 5:49Speaker 1: it's Milo's unsweet tea, and it's kept in a refrigerated
- 5:53Speaker 1: section at Meijer, where I get it. And you've got
- 5:58Speaker 1: to keep it refrigerated, because you can't have iced tea
- 6:00Speaker 1: getting warm.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I mean..
- 6:01Speaker 3: It'll be cooler with me, so I'll make sure that
- 6:03Speaker 3: I deliver it. It'll be ice cold.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I tell you what. As a matter of fact, I
- 6:08Speaker 1: want you to buy it, and I want you to
- 6:09Speaker 1: drink the unsweet tea. All right?
- 6:11Speaker 6: No, no, no.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I'll just buy it, or I'll send you a money
- 6:15Speaker 3: order for $ 4 and some cents so you can buy yourself.
- 6:19Speaker 1: That's all right. Maybe I'll take, like with Elon Musk
- 6:22Speaker 1: in the IPO, I'll take one of the space paintings
- 6:25Speaker 1: that you're doing.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it's all right. I just want to say one
- 6:30Speaker 3: thing that's kind of off subject a little bit.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You sound depressed to me today.
- 6:36Speaker 3: The other day, you know, I kind of, you know,
- 6:39Speaker 3: I opened my mouth about the young man who killed
- 6:43Speaker 3: one teenager, killed the other teenager. And I still stand by.
- 6:47Speaker 5: My, you know, I believe that was a little.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Bit over with the... The sentence, I thought it was,
- 6:55Speaker 3: you know, a little bit long, but again, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 3: I'm just me, so I really don't have a say
- 7:02Speaker 3: in it. But, you know, I..
- 7:03Speaker 1: No, no, no, wait a second. Wait a second. This
- 7:07Speaker 1: is what drives me crazy with you. Because... You merely said,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and I'll quote you to you, you said you thought
- 7:16Speaker 1: that the 35-year sentence for this young man was too long,
- 7:20Speaker 1: that he should get punished and hopefully be rehabilitated to
- 7:26Speaker 1: where he realized he was young and dumb and did
- 7:28Speaker 1: a stupid thing, to where there's some degree of hope
- 7:31Speaker 1: to get out at some point. and maybe live the
- 7:35Speaker 1: rest of your life as a law-abiding citizen. And you
- 7:38Speaker 1: were attacked for that by people that were saying, yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but the other kid will always be dead. I agree.
- 7:43Speaker 1: The other kid will always be dead. I would never
- 7:46Speaker 1: want him to see the light of day if it
- 7:47Speaker 1: was me because of what he did. But that's really
- 7:51Speaker 1: what you said. And I don't think it's a horrific
- 7:54Speaker 1: thing to say that you think, okay, perhaps he can
- 7:56Speaker 1: be punished and rehabilitated because he's young and old.
- 8:00Speaker 2: And we'll realize the real thing is, is that I
- 8:03Speaker 2: had a I actually thought long and hard because I
- 8:06Speaker 2: was thinking to myself, you know, somebody brought to my
- 8:08Speaker 2: attention that they came over to my house and they
- 8:10Speaker 2: stabbed my son in the chest.
- 8:12Speaker 3: My seven year old autistic son in the chest.
- 8:15Speaker 5: But how would I feel about that?
- 8:17Speaker 3: And my heart was broken. You know that.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Conservative you're listening.
- 8:20Speaker 5: You broke my heart. Why would you say that to me?
- 8:26Speaker 1: I didn't say that.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I don't think there's no excuse for it. Why would
- 8:29Speaker 5: you say that to me?
- 8:31Speaker 1: I didn't say that to you.
- 8:32Speaker 5: No, you didn't say that to me. He said that
- 8:34Speaker 5: to me. I have to give you credit because you
- 8:38Speaker 5: tried to change the subject, but that idiot continued on it. Now,
- 8:43Speaker 5: if I'm attacking him and you want to hang up
- 8:44Speaker 5: on me, go right ahead. But that was unnecessary, uncalled for,
- 8:48Speaker 5: and he broke my heart. He won't break me, but
- 8:52Speaker 5: he broke my heart.
- 8:52Speaker 3: And I'm just, I love the things that I've done
- 8:57Speaker 3: and said.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Just pause for a second.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I understand your frustration. I don't think the guy— Well,
- 9:04Speaker 1: hang on a minute, then. Give me a second. I
- 9:06Speaker 1: think the guy was trying to say— I think this is
- 9:09Speaker 1: all he was saying. He was only saying, if it
- 9:11Speaker 1: was done to your son, would you have that same
- 9:14Speaker 1: thought that the guy should get out of prison? Instead
- 9:19Speaker 1: of serving his 35 years. That's all he was saying.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He wasn't trying to be mean-spirited or wishing it on you.
- 9:24Speaker 1: He was saying, how would anyone feel if that was
- 9:28Speaker 1: done to their child? Would they say, oh, it's okay
- 9:30Speaker 1: to get out before the 35 years? That's all the
- 9:32Speaker 1: caller was saying. Don't take it so personal.
- 9:35Speaker 5: You guys can spin it any way you want.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Well, that's how it is.
- 9:38Speaker 5: If I would have said that, you would never let
- 9:41Speaker 5: me call back again.
- 9:42Speaker 1: No, no. Listen, I think you're taking it.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I've been suing over that for three days.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Three days I've been suing over that.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Well, stop suing.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Let me tell you something. That really made me change
- 9:54Speaker 3: my mind because I thought about coming over and stabbing
- 9:56Speaker 3: my son in his heart.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Well, that's what the caller was saying. trying to say.
- 10:01Speaker 1: If that happened to your child, would you be saying
- 10:03Speaker 1: that he should get out before the 35 years are done?
- 10:05Speaker 1: That's all.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Well, that's, that's, that's your net. And then I went
- 10:10Speaker 3: one time threatened before not to call ever call back again.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And I, and I went against my word, but you know, that,
- 10:16Speaker 3: you know, just, just sit there and.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Don't let that person get under your skin.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Don't let that get under your skin.
- 10:27Speaker 5: It's always me.
- 10:28Speaker 3: It's always me that's too sensitive.
- 10:30Speaker 5: It's always me.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It's always me.
- 10:32Speaker 1: You're letting him get the best of you. You're letting
- 10:35Speaker 1: him get the best of you. Don't do that.
- 10:37Speaker 5: Don't do the best of me. That won't.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I just thought that was, you know, maybe that is
- 10:44Speaker 3: the kind of, you know, I'll tell you, that just
- 10:47Speaker 3: proves the example of how it's now my fault. Instead
- 10:51Speaker 3: of correcting him, it was my fault. And I just,
- 10:53Speaker 3: you know, I just find that just irreprehensible. And, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 3: I don't wish that upon anybody.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I don't think he was wishing it upon you. I
- 11:04Speaker 1: don't think he was wishing it upon you. He was
- 11:06Speaker 1: just trying to use..
- 11:06Speaker 5: Okay, well, there you go.
- 11:12Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 11:13Speaker 5: You're on the air.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Ron!
- 11:17Speaker 7: Yeah, nine, they go away, nine games. I still think
- 11:20Speaker 7: they're going to be okay. They're doing good.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Our guardians.
- 11:25Speaker 5: The guardians, yes, yes, yes.
- 11:27Speaker 1: All right, now..
- 11:29Speaker 4: What?
- 11:31Speaker 1: The Spurs. Now, Dick, from date, my official sports prognosticator..
- 11:36Speaker 7: Yes?
- 11:36Speaker 1: We're the only program that keeps you as a sports prognosticator,
- 11:39Speaker 1: even when you get a whole season wrong. We don't
- 11:42Speaker 1: bail on you like others would and say, he's no good,
- 11:44Speaker 1: we're done with him. We're loyal around here. We keep
- 11:48Speaker 1: you on board. My official sports prognosticator, you must admit...
- 11:52Speaker 1: I mean, when New York— and folks, I don't know what
- 11:54Speaker 1: there is about winning a basketball finale that makes people
- 11:59Speaker 1: go out and the mayhem that they caused by almost
- 12:05Speaker 1: like a riot in New York. This is uncalled for.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I mean, I don't get it when your team wins
- 12:14Speaker 1: and you decide to go on out and basically have
- 12:18Speaker 1: civil disobedience and create— a riot like stuff. I don't
- 12:22Speaker 1: go for that at all. And I'm sure my sports prognosticator,
- 12:26Speaker 1: the legendary Dick from Dayton does not support that.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Nope.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Nope. That's that.
- 12:30Speaker 5: That was bad.
- 12:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I agree with you, but yeah, I'm just thinking too.
- 12:35Speaker 7: And I wish they would quit talking in Cleveland about
- 12:38Speaker 7: who's going to be the quarterback. They keep on every
- 12:42Speaker 7: day about that. Miles Garrett and let it go. Let
- 12:46Speaker 7: them have a season for God's sakes.
- 12:48Speaker 1: You know, I'm going to go on a long shot
- 12:50Speaker 1: for quarterback. You know, I think he's going to get it.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Who, Sanders?
- 12:54Speaker 1: Brian Seip.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 7: Hey, you know who I would vote for, remember? He
- 13:00Speaker 7: was one of the best from your town. I like
- 13:04Speaker 7: Bernie Kosar.
- 13:06Speaker 5: He was good, wasn't he?
- 13:07Speaker 1: Bernie's been through it, though, man. He has definitely been
- 13:10Speaker 1: through it. It's a damn shame. It really is.
- 13:13Speaker 8: It is.
- 13:14Speaker 7: He's a great guy. Well, have a good day.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Thank you. It's Dick from Dayton. You're on the air.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Are you going to let me talk today without screaming
- 13:23Speaker 4: at me and cutting me off?
- 13:26Speaker 1: I don't know. It depends if you rile me up.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Did you buy SpaceX?
- 13:32Speaker 4: No, I did not. I began my career at an
- 13:38Speaker 4: investment banking firm. We took companies public every month. We
- 13:43Speaker 4: did an IPO every month. And the way it worked
- 13:47Speaker 4: is we would offer our Best clients, the one that
- 13:51Speaker 4: did the most trading for us, had pre-IPO prices. Like
- 13:57Speaker 4: that guy was saying, SpaceX went public at $ 150 a share,
- 14:03Speaker 4: but a brokerage firm, their best clients, however many shares
- 14:08Speaker 4: they were allocated, they would offer it to them for
- 14:13Speaker 4: $ 135 a share. So when SpaceX went public at $ 150...
- 14:19Speaker 4: they automatically had a $ 15 share profit. SpaceX went up
- 14:25Speaker 4: to $ 164. 95 at the end of trading Friday.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 4: And it closed at $ 192. 50 a share today, almost a 25% profit.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Right, but I mean, do you wish you would have bought?
- 14:41Speaker 1: Stand by, stand by, stand by. Okay, Fort Lauderdale, Frank,
- 14:46Speaker 1: back with him. On NewsRadio 570 WKBN. Stay with us.
- 14:51Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. And you're Fearless Leader on Verb 524, NewsRadio
- 14:56Speaker 1: 570 WKBN. It's 68 degrees. Where is Fort Lauderdale? Fort Lauderdale.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Not you.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Frank?
- 15:05Speaker 1: That's not you. Fort Lauderdale. You're not Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's me.
- 15:14Speaker 1: All right. So do you wish you would have bought SpaceX?
- 15:19Speaker 4: Well, I tried to buy it Friday. I was waiting
- 15:23Speaker 4: for a pullback and never pulled back. Now, did you.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Buy any today?
- 15:29Speaker 4: No, same thing.
- 15:34Speaker 1: You couldn't get it?
- 15:35Speaker 4: Well, I couldn't get it at the pre-IPO, so I
- 15:39Speaker 4: had to wait for it to go public in order
- 15:41Speaker 4: to buy it. But let me say one thing. The
- 15:45Speaker 4: general investing public has speculative fever. Anthropic and Sam Altman's
- 15:54Speaker 4: OpenAI are scheduled to go public next month. And I
- 15:59Speaker 4: remember the dot-com bubble. Same thing. There were companies that
- 16:04Speaker 4: went public that had nothing to do with technology. They
- 16:08Speaker 4: would just say, RonVerba.com. and people would buy it without
- 16:14Speaker 4: even knowing what the hell the company did.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a lot of that with Elon Musk
- 16:19Speaker 1: and SpaceX, just because it's Elon Musk.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Well, I'm glad you mentioned that, because that other gentleman
- 16:27Speaker 4: says he owns Tesla and he's happy. But let me
- 16:32Speaker 4: say this first. When I was a private equity broker,
- 16:36Speaker 4: my firm offered SpaceX shares to accredited investors.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Now..
- 16:42Speaker 4: And accredited investors, they had to prove that they made
- 16:47Speaker 4: at least $ 250, 000 a year or had a net worth
- 16:51Speaker 4: of $ 1 million in order to buy private equity shares.
- 16:56Speaker 4: And some brokerage firms like Fidelity, you have to buy
- 17:00Speaker 4: a minimum of $ 250, 000 worth of a private equity company
- 17:03Speaker 4: like SpaceX. Now, the pre-IPO... had a $ 1. 75 trillion target
- 17:15Speaker 4: valuation for SpaceX, the largest in history. Now let's compare
- 17:21Speaker 4: that to NVIDIA's current market cap of $ 4. 28 trillion. SpaceX, Ron,
- 17:29Speaker 4: is losing $ 5 billion a year. Most people with pension plans, 401ks,
- 17:37Speaker 4: and IRAs are now invested in in a highly speculative
- 17:42Speaker 4: stock called spacex in musk is saying he's considering merging
- 17:47Speaker 4: spacex with uh... tesla yeah another money loser now i'll
- 17:53Speaker 4: give musk a lot of credit a brilliant brilliant investor
- 17:59Speaker 4: musk obviously thinks the market is speaking in may soon
- 18:03Speaker 4: crash so he went public to get the maximum amount
- 18:07Speaker 4: of money from a global investment public And a lot
- 18:11Speaker 4: of people don't know, Ron, SpaceX is really a three-company
- 18:15Speaker 4: conglomerate that includes Starlink and XAI. Now, last year, these
- 18:23Speaker 4: three companies combined reported a total loss of $ 5 billion
- 18:29Speaker 4: on revenues of $ 18. 5 billion and must have succeeded in
- 18:34Speaker 4: getting the Dow Jones, the S & P 500.
- 18:36Speaker 5: And NASDAQ.
- 18:39Speaker 4: To abandon their investor protection safeguards and allow his company
- 18:45Speaker 4: to be included in their indices one week after going public.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Because like these S & P index funds, they all
- 18:54Speaker 4: have to buy space.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Stand by for a second. Back with Frank and more
- 18:58Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570 WKVN. And Ron Verb with you till 6.
- 19:02Speaker 9: By Estella's Pharma.
- 19:03Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570 WKVN. And from NewsRadio 570 WKVN, let me
- 19:08Speaker 1: go back to you, Frank. So are you going to
- 19:10Speaker 1: buy it or not?
- 19:13Speaker 4: I told you I was going to buy it Friday,
- 19:17Speaker 4: but it never pulled back. It just kept going up.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Up and up and up.
- 19:21Speaker 1: How about tomorrow?
- 19:24Speaker 4: No, not now that it went from $ 150 a share
- 19:29Speaker 4: to almost $ 200 a share. I will not buy it.
- 19:33Speaker 4: In fact, if I did anything, I would short sell
- 19:37Speaker 4: it and bet on it going down.
- 19:39Speaker 1: What about long term? No, it could be a big
- 19:42Speaker 1: moneymaker long term. It really could. Don't you think?
- 19:45Speaker 4: No, I don't Run.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I'm serious.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Run. Long-term, you think it could make money?
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Yes.
- 19:58Speaker 1: If it merges with Tesla, I think it could. I mean,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I think a lot of these people that are buying
- 20:05Speaker 1: it are buying it to hang on to it long term.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I don't think they're interested in selling it. Granted, some
- 20:10Speaker 1: of the big guys are, but I think a lot
- 20:11Speaker 1: of people are buying it to sit on it for years.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I think they're thinking it can be like an Amazon.
- 20:17Speaker 4: Well, don't take this personally, but I think that's why
- 20:22Speaker 4: Musk decided to take SpaceX public because... Gullible investors like
- 20:28Speaker 4: yourself are rushing to buy it.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Ron, SpaceX is losing $ 5 billion a year. Why would
- 20:40Speaker 4: you want to buy a stock in a company losing
- 20:43Speaker 4: $ 5 billion a year?
- 20:45Speaker 1: Do you remember when Amazon was losing money for years
- 20:48Speaker 1: before it started making money? I bet you wish you
- 20:50Speaker 1: would have bought the stock, don't you? Maybe you did.
- 20:54Speaker 1: It was a loser.
- 20:55Speaker 4: It went public in 19... Look, it took how long
- 21:00Speaker 4: before Amazon came from?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Wait a minute. I tell you what. I'll pick up
- 21:04Speaker 1: this conversation with you tomorrow. I got business I got
- 21:07Speaker 1: to take care of.
- 21:08Speaker 4: All right.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'll get back to you.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Real quick, Amazon, 15 years before it started becoming profitable. Okay.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I've got to pay my respects here. Look at who's
- 21:18Speaker 1: in my studio with me, and I say this, and
- 21:22Speaker 1: I told this to my secret guest, all right? Now,
- 21:27Speaker 1: you callers, you're going to have to just stand by.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I don't know if I'll have time for you. This
- 21:32Speaker 1: is my secret, secret special guest sitting in that chair
- 21:36Speaker 1: over there, which I was talking to you on the
- 21:40Speaker 1: phone the other day. Was I not?
- 21:41Speaker 9: You were.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And I said to her, and I won't identify her
- 21:45Speaker 1: just yet. And I said, I'm going to tell you
- 21:48Speaker 1: all a story. I'm going to tell you all a
- 21:53Speaker 1: story that took place. And I want you to hear it,
- 21:55Speaker 1: each and every one of you to hear it. Because
- 21:57Speaker 1: this is how, as I said to her, one person died.
- 22:02Speaker 1: changes someone's life. Now, this goes back to 1984. Yes. Oh,
- 22:13Speaker 1: come on. Yes, this goes back to 1984. I'm going,
- 22:17Speaker 1: was it 84? I think it was. I've been here, what,
- 22:20Speaker 1: 41 years. So I was working at WHBC Radio in Canton.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And a young woman said, I.
- 22:34Speaker 9: Was four years old.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Yes.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Well, I'm sure you were just a teenager at the time.
- 22:38Speaker 1: A young teenager at the time left our station. I
- 22:43Speaker 1: was at WHBC in Canton and came to work for WKVN, right?
- 22:48Speaker 9: Right.
- 22:50Speaker 1: And she came up here to work for WKVN. And
- 22:55Speaker 1: Pete Gabriel at the time, God rest his soul. And
- 22:58Speaker 1: I had the opportunity, I say this to all of you,
- 23:01Speaker 1: every time I saw Pete, Later in life, as he
- 23:07Speaker 1: was having some health issues, I thanked him. I thanked
- 23:11Speaker 1: him for what he did for me and how he
- 23:15Speaker 1: really changed my life, really, and took a chance on me.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I caused him a lot of headaches, believe me.
- 23:21Speaker 9: I believe that.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I wasn't asking for your confirmation. Okay.
- 23:27Speaker 9: So your listeners.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Are saying, yes, yes. Listen, just be TV people.
- 23:34Speaker 5: All right.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Now here's it. So anyway, Pete Gabriel hired at the time,
- 23:38Speaker 1: Dan Ryan to come over to this radio station. And
- 23:43Speaker 1: that was a big snag because he was big at
- 23:46Speaker 1: another radio station in town, but he convinced Dan to
- 23:48Speaker 1: come over to this radio station. And then Pete said,
- 23:51Speaker 1: was looking for a talk show guy to do 7
- 23:55Speaker 1: to 11 at night. 7 to 11 at night. So
- 24:01Speaker 1: Pete Gabriel was talking at this time to my special
- 24:05Speaker 1: guest who came from WHBC and started working up here
- 24:09Speaker 1: in radio and television at WKBN. And she said, I.
- 24:17Speaker 9: Got a guy.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:20Speaker 9: She said. Do I have a guy for you?
- 24:23Speaker 1: She said. Now, this is a true story. That's what
- 24:26Speaker 1: she said. I know a guy. I know a guy.
- 24:31Speaker 1: And it's because of her that I've been sitting here
- 24:36Speaker 1: for 41 years. It is truly because of her. Because
- 24:40Speaker 1: if she didn't say something to Pete Gabrielle, And then
- 24:44Speaker 1: Pete listened to her because she's very convincing, very authoritative.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Pete listened to her and said, really? Tell me about
- 24:51Speaker 1: this guy. And she's blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And
- 24:53Speaker 1: then Pete started listening to the show. At that time,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I was doing in Canton on WHBC. It was on
- 24:58Speaker 1: at night. And so then he called me. And he said,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I'm interested in having you come on up here and
- 25:08Speaker 1: talking to you about a job opening that we have
- 25:10Speaker 1: here from 7 to 11 at night. And I said, really?
- 25:15Speaker 1: And I said, well, how did you know about this
- 25:16Speaker 1: or how did this come about? And he said, Carolyn Pursuity,
- 25:23Speaker 1: who joined our staff, radio and TV staff from WHBC,
- 25:27Speaker 1: came up and said, I know a guy. I know
- 25:31Speaker 1: a guy. And and so I said, oh, OK, I'll
- 25:35Speaker 1: come up and see you. And I was perfectly happy,
- 25:38Speaker 1: happy and can't make no mistake, perfectly happy. So I
- 25:44Speaker 1: called Carolyn Persutti, and I remember this better than she does.
- 25:47Speaker 1: And I said, Carolyn, I got to go up where
- 25:51Speaker 1: you work and talk to Pete Gabriel. He's a great
- 25:53Speaker 1: guy and all this kind of stuff. And Carolyn said,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I said, well, how do you get there? Meaning to WKBN.
- 25:59Speaker 9: Because we didn't have GPS back in 84.
- 26:01Speaker 1: That's when you were just a young child. And she said, listen,
- 26:07Speaker 1: you get on the freeway. And you drive straight till
- 26:10Speaker 1: you get off on South Avenue. This is exactly what
- 26:13Speaker 1: you told me. And I says, let me get this.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Let me get this straight. That's what she said. This
- 26:17Speaker 1: is easy. You get on South, you get on a freeway,
- 26:19Speaker 1: you drive, you get off on South Avenue, you come
- 26:21Speaker 1: up South Avenue and you see WKBN right. It'll be
- 26:24Speaker 1: right in front of you. That's before I moved to
- 26:27Speaker 1: these nice studios here. And I said, okay. And so
- 26:30Speaker 1: then I drove up and I came up here and
- 26:33Speaker 1: I looked at this place and I thought, wow, this
- 26:35Speaker 1: is really something. And then I went in and I
- 26:38Speaker 1: met with Pete Gabriel and he talked to me, did
- 26:42Speaker 1: my interview. And there's a guy at the time named
- 26:45Speaker 1: Brian Lamb. I remember his name, not the one on C-SPAN.
- 26:48Speaker 1: It was a consultant. I don't know if you remember him.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And so then Pete says, well, I'm going to offer
- 26:54Speaker 1: you this job. And I says, oh, okay. And so
- 26:57Speaker 1: then you had to go in and meet J.D. Williamson.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Do you remember him? I mean, no one was hired
- 27:01Speaker 1: until you went to J.D. Williamson's office and sat down
- 27:04Speaker 1: with J.D., And I can remember J.D. Williamson. This is
- 27:07Speaker 1: like it's yesterday to me, not to Carolyn, because she
- 27:11Speaker 1: was so young. When you're that young, you forget this stuff.
- 27:14Speaker 9: But you do remember the owners.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:17Speaker 9: They were wonderful.
- 27:18Speaker 1: He was wonderful. So I went in. I sat in J.D.
- 27:20Speaker 1: 's office with Pete. And you remember Pete had to be, what,
- 27:22Speaker 1: six foot four or whatever? Pete was an intimidating figure
- 27:26Speaker 1: to me. Pete Gabriel, very intimidating. He's a big, tall guy.
- 27:30Speaker 9: But a teddy bear at heart.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And he had this big baritone radio voice. And I
- 27:36Speaker 1: felt like, standing next to him, I felt like a midget.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I really did. And it was like, oh, my God.
- 27:42Speaker 1: And so then Pete walks me into JD's office, and
- 27:45Speaker 1: I sit down. And then Pete says, call me, JD,
- 27:48Speaker 1: when you're done. I'll come and get him. And I thought,
- 27:50Speaker 1: what the hell is this? You know what I mean?
- 27:52Speaker 1: So then JD talks to me about a number of things,
- 27:54Speaker 1: and we work some things out. And then he says
- 27:58Speaker 1: to me, I'll never forget he says this. He says, Verb,
- 28:01Speaker 1: I want you to know something. Nothing's forever. That is
- 28:04Speaker 1: what he said in my initial interview. Nothing is forever.
- 28:08Speaker 9: And look, 41 years later, it's almost forever.
- 28:14Speaker 1: So when J.D. Williamson and his family sold the radio
- 28:17Speaker 1: station and they had a little get-together for that, I said, well, J.D.,
- 28:22Speaker 1: nothing's forever, and I'm going to miss you. But he
- 28:28Speaker 1: sold and he left and we'll be celebrating a hundred
- 28:32Speaker 1: year anniversary of this radio station in September. Now think
- 28:36Speaker 1: about this. And I've been on it for 41 years.
- 28:39Speaker 1: That's a long time. So if it, so I said
- 28:42Speaker 1: to this wonderful human being here, I said, if it
- 28:46Speaker 1: wasn't for you, Carolyn Pursuity, if it wasn't for you,
- 28:52Speaker 1: None of this would have happened.
- 28:53Speaker 9: You'd still be in Canton.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I probably still would be in Canton.
- 28:57Speaker 9: I got to tell you. Now, two things.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:00Speaker 9: Somebody will open the door for you or you will
- 29:03Speaker 9: open the door for someone else. Then it's totally up
- 29:05Speaker 9: to them. Your talent carries you. I stepped back then
- 29:09Speaker 9: and I said, go, go shine. And you did.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And here you are. But nothing would have happened if
- 29:15Speaker 1: it wasn't for you talking to Pete.
- 29:17Speaker 9: And that's so important for people to know. You have
- 29:21Speaker 9: to recommend the people that you enjoy working with and
- 29:24Speaker 9: that are competent and that go 110% out of their
- 29:28Speaker 9: way to do a good job.
- 29:29Speaker 1: So then you were at KBN and then you went
- 29:33Speaker 1: to FMJ. Then you left for some TV jobs everywhere
- 29:38Speaker 1: else in the country.
- 29:38Speaker 9: Richmond, Baltimore, and then Washington.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:42Speaker 9: Can I tell your listeners one more thing that you
- 29:44Speaker 9: may not remember?
- 29:45Speaker 1: No, this is..
- 29:46Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 29:47Speaker 7: This is very..
- 29:48Speaker 1: Depends what it is. This is very important to me because, folks,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I want you to know something. I finally had a
- 29:53Speaker 1: chance when I talked with Carolyn on the phone the
- 29:56Speaker 1: other day. And I says, Carolyn, I want you to know...
- 29:59Speaker 1: What a difference you've made in my life. And Carolyn says, okay, yeah,
- 30:05Speaker 1: right now.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 30:06Speaker 9: I looked at the phone like, wait a second, is
- 30:08Speaker 9: this Ron Burr?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 9: I had seen him in years.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And I said, yes, I wanted you to know this.
- 30:16Speaker 1: And then I know there's a get-together for all of you. Right, right.
- 30:21Speaker 9: I wish you would have been there.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I don't like to be around all you old people.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Oh, thanks a lot.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Not you. No, it was wonderful.
- 30:29Speaker 9: It really was. A media reunion.
- 30:32Speaker 1: It depresses me. It really does. No. So they had
- 30:35Speaker 1: a reunion. And she says, I am coming to town
- 30:39Speaker 1: from Washington, D.C. And I says, well, that's going to
- 30:41Speaker 1: be wonderful. And so then I saw Carolyn sent me
- 30:45Speaker 1: a news clip that they did. And I says, Carolyn
- 30:47Speaker 1: Persutti looks the same as she did if I flash
- 30:50Speaker 1: back to WHBC. Time has been good to you.
- 30:54Speaker 9: I love you, too.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Thank you. But, I mean, you look as good as
- 30:58Speaker 1: you did then. Today, life must have been good for you.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Whatever vitamins you're taking, let me have a full list.
- 31:04Speaker 1: But I want all of you to know something. And
- 31:07Speaker 1: I thank all these people. My life wouldn't be what
- 31:10Speaker 1: happened to me today if it wasn't for Carolyn Persutti.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Carolyn Persutti is what I owe a 41-year career at
- 31:17Speaker 1: this radio station to. Her, Pete Gabriel, J.D. Williamson.
- 31:22Speaker 9: And we're all asking for part of his salary now
- 31:24Speaker 9: that he's invented that.
- 31:25Speaker 6: Yes.
- 31:26Speaker 9: He'll be lining up when he gets the check.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And you deserve it. And then you go to J.D.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And then, you know, over the years, you know, Williamson
- 31:35Speaker 1: sold it to J.Core. And then J.Core sold it to
- 31:38Speaker 1: Clear Channel. And Clear Channel became iHeart.
- 31:41Speaker 9: And you're the last man standing.
- 31:44Speaker 1: I am the last man standing. I'm the last of
- 31:46Speaker 1: the Mohicans.
- 31:47Speaker 9: Yes. But do you remember? We didn't start out this way,
- 31:51Speaker 9: liking each other. I don't know if you remember. So
- 31:54Speaker 9: Ron was doing a nighttime at WHBC, and I was
- 31:59Speaker 9: the newscaster cutting in at the bottom of the hour,
- 32:00Speaker 9: the top of the hour. And one time he introduced
- 32:04Speaker 9: me with a term that I had never heard. I
- 32:06Speaker 9: was green. I was right out of college. And he said,
- 32:08Speaker 9: and here's our crack news reporter, Carolyn Persutti. And I
- 32:12Speaker 9: was like, he called me crack. Oh, my gosh. He
- 32:15Speaker 9: has the nerve to call me crap.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I don't remember this.
- 32:19Speaker 9: I was so upset. I ran into the studio after
- 32:22Speaker 9: I finished the news and read you the riot act.
- 32:25Speaker 9: And you said, Carolyn, crack means a good news reporter.
- 32:31Speaker 9: I said, really?
- 32:34Speaker 1: Thank God I forgot all of this.
- 32:37Speaker 10: Oh, my gosh.
- 32:37Speaker 9: I was so angry at you.
- 32:39Speaker 1: But you forgave me.
- 32:40Speaker 9: I did because then I learned that my vocabulary wasn't
- 32:43Speaker 9: as good as yours.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 32:44Speaker 1: And she and but but I always think that you
- 32:48Speaker 1: as you get older, you should thank the people in
- 32:50Speaker 1: your life that make the biggest impacts on your life.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And when I think of them, there's there's a Carolyn Pursuit.
- 32:57Speaker 1: You would be at the top of the list. Pete
- 32:59Speaker 1: Gabriel would be on that list. J.D. Williamson would be
- 33:02Speaker 1: on that list. There are many others that would be
- 33:05Speaker 1: on that list that I've worked for over the years,
- 33:08Speaker 1: you know, including my current folks at iHeart that have
- 33:12Speaker 1: been absolutely wonderful. Nothing lasts forever. But I mean, think
- 33:17Speaker 1: of how it's changed. Oh, it's changed a lot. And
- 33:20Speaker 1: if you would have said to me at my age
- 33:23Speaker 1: that I would, I always thought, well, I'll finish, stand by.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I'm going to finish this story momentarily. Carolyn Persutti, She
- 33:32Speaker 1: makes me nervous, folks. I'll be right back.
- 33:35Speaker 8: Radio app.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Okay, Ron Furr back with the woman that brought me
- 33:44Speaker 1: to Youngstown, Carolyn Persutti. And I just said to you
- 33:47Speaker 1: during the break, you know, that you should remember the
- 33:50Speaker 1: people that changed your life.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Right.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Wait a second. Let me turn your mic on. Absolutely.
- 33:54Speaker 9: And for me, I remember Mike Gontner. Oh, my gosh.
- 33:56Speaker 9: He hired me at WKBN to do radio, and I
- 34:00Speaker 9: worked with him.
- 34:00Speaker 4: And TV, yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 9: And then TV at FMJ, though. So this was Vivian.
- 34:05Speaker 9: And he taught me so much because I was working
- 34:07Speaker 9: right alongside him. We were co-anchoring the news.
- 34:10Speaker 1: He's still around today.
- 34:11Speaker 9: Yeah, I know. I would love to see him, too.
- 34:14Speaker 9: And I remember we were on the air constantly for
- 34:16Speaker 9: 21 hours for the Warren tornado.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Yes.
- 34:18Speaker 9: Remember that?
- 34:19Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 34:20Speaker 9: I learned so much from that man. Yeah, Gary Hansen.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 34:23Speaker 9: Same thing. John Gurdick.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Passed away, yeah.
- 34:26Speaker 9: Ed Barron. I mean, all names from the past that
- 34:29Speaker 9: I'm sure your listeners remember.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And Nadine Tom Holden.
- 34:31Speaker 9: Oh, Tom Holden, too.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Of course.
- 34:33Speaker 8: Yes.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:34Speaker 9: Everybody. They all play a role in your career. And
- 34:38Speaker 9: you always want to remember to thank them. And you
- 34:41Speaker 9: hope you do.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Right. And I thought, oh, well, Carolyn's got a good
- 34:44Speaker 1: job now. She's at KBN. Now she's at FMJ. But
- 34:48Speaker 1: that wasn't enough, right? You said, I got to go elsewhere.
- 34:51Speaker 8: I did.
- 34:51Speaker 9: My goal was always to work at a top 10 market.
- 34:55Speaker 9: And I really wanted New York. That's where I really
- 34:57Speaker 9: wanted to end up. But once I got to Washington,
- 34:59Speaker 9: I was like, oh. this is pretty cool.
- 35:01Speaker 8: Okay.
- 35:01Speaker 9: This is where politics is. Oh, I got this. You know,
- 35:04Speaker 9: it's like the news starts there.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And then like, I would see pictures of you in
- 35:08Speaker 1: the white house. How was that?
- 35:09Speaker 5: Cool.
- 35:09Speaker 9: Yeah. White house course.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Did you look around and go, this is, this is amazing.
- 35:13Speaker 9: Every day. You can never take that for granted. It's,
- 35:16Speaker 9: it's incredible to be able to walk through those gates,
- 35:19Speaker 9: no matter who, whom the president is. It doesn't matter.
- 35:21Speaker 1: When you say that, it reminds me of another thing.
- 35:23Speaker 1: There was a guy that, uh, from WHBC that, you know, that, uh,
- 35:29Speaker 1: You know a guy? Yeah, I know a guy. He
- 35:30Speaker 1: was a board up at the time on the program,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and his name was Jim Chenevise. And do you remember him?
- 35:38Speaker 9: I do.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Jim Chenevise was at WHBC, and his brother Fred was
- 35:42Speaker 1: a big newscaster somewhere in the country. But Jim Sheneves
- 35:48Speaker 1: left WHBC and became a radio news guy for CBS
- 35:51Speaker 1: Radio News. Yeah, I would listen to him often. And
- 35:54Speaker 1: he retired. And the first time I heard him, I
- 35:56Speaker 1: was shocked. Like, the first time I heard CBS News
- 35:59Speaker 1: come on, this is Jim Sheneves. I thought, Jim Sheneves
- 36:02Speaker 1: used to run the board on a talk show.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Look at him.
- 36:05Speaker 1: He's so hard. And he's doing the network news. I was, like,
- 36:09Speaker 1: really proud of him with that.
- 36:11Speaker 9: But CBS News, no more.
- 36:13Speaker 1: After 100 years. Isn't that sad?
- 36:16Speaker 9: It's very sad. We should never eliminate a network.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Never.
- 36:20Speaker 1: No. And that's why I get nervous when we're approaching
- 36:22Speaker 1: our 100-year anniversary here at WKBN Radio. Are we going
- 36:26Speaker 1: to make it?
- 36:26Speaker 9: Yeah. Well, it's September, right?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Yes. The whole business has changed, hasn't it?
- 36:31Speaker 5: Oh, it has.
- 36:32Speaker 8: It has.
- 36:32Speaker 1: It has.
- 36:32Speaker 9: It's just there are so many different biased outlets, which
- 36:37Speaker 9: I avoid. And viewers and listeners can't avoid. They're not
- 36:41Speaker 9: real sure who's biased and who's not because I think
- 36:45Speaker 9: some grew up in an era where you just trusted
- 36:47Speaker 9: TV or you just trusted what you read on your computer.
- 36:51Speaker 9: And you can't. You have to source things. You have
- 36:53Speaker 9: to find out the source. And you need to know
- 36:55Speaker 9: which of these networks are biased. Do you ever think
- 36:58Speaker 9: we would ever say that during our lives?
- 37:00Speaker 4: No.
- 37:01Speaker 9: Because no network was biased when we were growing up.
- 37:03Speaker 4: No.
- 37:03Speaker 9: Nobody was. Now it's obvious. And people ask me, what
- 37:07Speaker 9: should I be listening to? What are the different outlets
- 37:11Speaker 9: who are biased? Fair. Who's balanced? And I say, well, VOA,
- 37:16Speaker 9: when we're on the air, when we're all hired back,
- 37:18Speaker 9: and BBC is good, but I say, if you listen
- 37:21Speaker 9: to CNN, you've got to listen to Fox. If you're
- 37:24Speaker 9: listening to OAN, you've got to listen to MSNOW. You
- 37:28Speaker 9: have to balance what you're listening or what you're watching
- 37:31Speaker 9: because it's very difficult to find an outlet now, a
- 37:36Speaker 9: journalism outlet that is straight down the line. Very difficult,
- 37:40Speaker 9: and that's what's sad about our industry and how it
- 37:42Speaker 9: has changed.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And that's the way it should. In other words, when
- 37:46Speaker 1: I'm listening to you do the news, I shouldn't know
- 37:49Speaker 1: if you're liberal or Democrat. It should just be the story.
- 37:52Speaker 9: Everyone should be a registered independent like me. I've been
- 37:55Speaker 9: a registered independent since I was 18, and I've never
- 37:58Speaker 9: changed it. I can't be biased in my personal life.
- 38:04Speaker 1: And it troubles you that media has become so biased, right?
- 38:07Speaker 1: It really does.
- 38:07Speaker 9: It really does. Yeah, I just shake my head.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Because there's a tilt to everything.
- 38:12Speaker 9: Right, right.
- 38:13Speaker 1: And it's kind of sad. I don't think CNN started
- 38:15Speaker 1: out like that, do you?
- 38:16Speaker 9: No, they didn't. No, they didn't. But now it will
- 38:18Speaker 9: change because Paramount, that buy was approved just yesterday. So
- 38:24Speaker 9: that will change a bit. They'll get more conservative.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 1: I mean, it's just, it's troubling. I like to watch
- 38:30Speaker 1: where I just get the news. Well, like you see,
- 38:32Speaker 1: there's Fox.
- 38:35Speaker 9: You need two monitors. You need a CNN monitor right there.
- 38:40Speaker 1: That one, I think over there is the weather channel,
- 38:42Speaker 1: but there's not a lot of weather that's going on today.
- 38:46Speaker 9: Well, that kind of balances you.
- 38:47Speaker 1: So what was it like coming back to Youngstown?
- 38:49Speaker 9: That was great. Oh my goodness. Just to see everyone.
- 38:52Speaker 9: We had our get-together at the B & O Railroad restaurant.
- 38:56Speaker 5: Yes.
- 38:56Speaker 9: It's a holiday event center. It was wonderful. Really nice.
- 39:00Speaker 9: Wonderful catering. Wonderful cookies. You know, I'm all about cookies.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 9: It's the Italian in me.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 9: But we had homemade cookies from everywhere and just seeing everyone.
- 39:10Speaker 9: Seeing everyone from your past. It's great. I hear that
- 39:14Speaker 9: little jingle.
- 39:14Speaker 1: And that means I'm done. Stay tuned for the Truth
- 39:17Speaker 1: Investing Show. Carolyn Pursuit, you are the best.
- 39:24Speaker 8: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. The G7 Summit, underway
- 39:29Speaker 8: in the friendship.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Alps.

- 39:33Speaker 8: since the Iran war broke out. President Trump telling reporters
- 39:36Speaker 8: that the U.S. and Iran memo of understanding is signed
- 39:39Speaker 8: digitally and will be finalized Friday. ABC's Karen Travers has
- 39:44Speaker 8: more from Geneva, Switzerland.
- 39:45Speaker 10: The deal, according to the president, would reopen the Strait
- 39:48Speaker 10: of Hormuz and lift the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports,
- 39:51Speaker 10: a return to the status quo before the war. It
- 39:54Speaker 10: opens a 60-day window to negotiate the end of the
- 39:57Speaker 10: war and Iran's nuclear program.
- 39:59Speaker 8: President Trump, while meeting with France's leader today, says he
- 40:02Speaker 8: thinks the U.S. can also bring an end to the
- 40:04Speaker 8: war in Ukraine.
- 40:05Speaker 1: We had a very good conversation yesterday with President Zelensky
- 40:11Speaker 1: and President Putin And I see maybe we can do
- 40:15Speaker 1: something there.
- 40:16Speaker 5: I really do.
- 40:17Speaker 1: I think they're both open to it. So now that
- 40:20Speaker 1: this is finished, we're going to be focusing on that,
- 40:23Speaker 1: see if we can get that one done.
- 40:25Speaker 8: Following that call overnight, Russia launching a massive drone attack
- 40:29Speaker 8: in Ukraine's capital. Ukrainian officials say striking a historic Christian monastery.
- 40:34Speaker 8: Russia claimed without evidence that a U.S.-made Patriot air defense
- 40:38Speaker 8: missile was responsible for the damage. In Missouri, federal aviation
- 40:42Speaker 8: regulators are starting their investigation into Sunday's plane crash outside
- 40:46Speaker 8: Kansas City. The pilot and 11 skydivers killed when the
- 40:49Speaker 8: plane went down shortly after takeoff. NTSB Vice Chair Michael
- 40:53Speaker 8: Graham talked about the FAA's decision in 2021 to adopt
- 40:57Speaker 8: certain safety measures following a similar crash, including appropriate training,
- 41:02Speaker 8: assurances of weight, and operational guidelines.
- 41:04Speaker 11: When you jump on an airliner, you expect a certain
- 41:07Speaker 11: amount of safety, but the great safety record airlines have.
- 41:11Speaker 11: Any passenger-paying operation should be afforded the same.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Safety as that.
- 41:18Speaker 8: On Wall Street today, stocks ended up. You're listening to
- 41:21Speaker 8: ABC News.
