- 0:00You cannot soar with the eagles in the morning if you're hooting with the owls at night.
- 0:05Get that horn going. Boom! Yeah!
- 0:08Yeah! Yes! Woo! Okay.
- 0:1610, 9, 8, 7. Welcome to the Brandon Fogel Show.
- 0:21Every moment is an electrifying event.
- 0:25This is not just a podcast. It's a revolution of thought.
- 0:47I actually need to probably take something to boost my energy in the morning. I need to.
- 0:55I need to do that, you know? But I have heard that whenever you get up,
- 1:00you should give yourself an hour before you have your first cup of coffee.
- 1:04And it had to do with something, you know, your brain chemistry and all that
- 1:08kind of stuff to get going or something like that.
- 1:10It's not as great for you if you have that cup of coffee immediately.
- 1:14So I do try to wait a little bit. I don't know about you. I mean,
- 1:17before I heard that, I would have just woke up and just had coffee going into my mouth.
- 1:21But I have heard that you should wait a little bit before you start pumping
- 1:24that coffee into your system. You only live once you only live once so get after it.
- 1:30We got to get after it. We got to kill it Okay, okay, okay,
- 1:35okay, okay, okay All right today i'm actually going to be talking to you about
- 1:40legit stuff I know if you saw my last video you saw it was about if you got
- 1:44how are you gonna suck your way to success?
- 1:47Podcasting, you know content creating baby. This video is going to be more hands-on
- 1:52We're gonna actually I'm gonna show you my screen.
- 1:54We're gonna dive right into it and we're gonna go how what is happening under
- 1:59the hood Baby, what's under that hood?
- 2:01You know, it's not how you stands by your podcast It's how you race your podcast,
- 2:07you know Fast and the Furious Paul Walker Ja Rule Vin Diesel baby.
- 2:13You can't how you not get pumped up for Vin Diesel. Oh, oh.
- 2:17But Ja Rule, he says to Paul Walker as he's standing by, he's like the little,
- 2:21the little corny guy, a white guy out and sitting by, standing by his car,
- 2:25you know, just trying to fit in.
- 2:26And really he's like, I'm not going to give it away, but really he's a cop,
- 2:29but he's standing by his car.
- 2:31And then Ja Rule comes up and he goes, man, it's not how you stand by your car.
- 2:37It's how you race your car.
- 2:39Better learn that. And that's an awesome line.
- 2:43Awesome line. I use it all the time. I use it. I try to use it once a day in my life.
- 2:46You know in some form or fashion man i
- 2:50hope a lot some of this does not make the cut because a lot of
- 2:52times i'm just flying through and i
- 2:55can't check everything and then something something's extremely
- 2:58embarrassing might make the cut someday and and i apologize in advance for that
- 3:03so this is gonna be a legit product a legit podcast this is gonna be a legit
- 3:09podcast someday you know you know we're just getting there at this time but
- 3:13i'm gonna have something to look back on and say man man, look how far I came,
- 3:18you know, look how far I came, you know, and the same goes for you. Just put it out there.
- 3:23Just throw that stuff on the wall, you know, on the wall.
- 3:26I guess it used to be whenever social media first came out, you had walls,
- 3:30you had walls. It was like your Facebook wall.
- 3:33And maybe that is kind of your feed now, but you know, it was your wall, man.
- 3:37And people want to put something on your wall. They want to say,
- 3:39remember in Facebook, they could poke you and you could poke people, man.
- 3:43What happened to that? Can you still do that? I don't know. gotta
- 3:46do it gotta do it okay all right
- 3:50i think i need to dial back the energy all right i
- 3:53am switching it up a little bit all right this about to get mad personal
- 3:56man it's about to get mad personal too much knowledge as you can see i open
- 4:01up my youtube page and this is what pops up so you can see the stuff that i've
- 4:06been searching you know and this kind of this kind of looks scary but this is
- 4:09the movie trap with look what's his name he's josh hartnett josh hartnett he's he's He's awesome,
- 4:14but it's going to be a scary one, but you can see the stuff I've been searching
- 4:17and it gives you a little window into my soul.
- 4:20You know, you open up your YouTube homepage, you know, YouTube,
- 4:24they, they, they know what you have at least been searching lately.
- 4:27So you can see it got a little bit Joe Rogan up there. I'm always watching Joe Rogan.
- 4:32I'm going to be clipping the snot out of this stuff because my internet,
- 4:36it goes, it goes how it wants to, it goes how it feels, you know,
- 4:40it like, it just, it runs on its own time.
- 4:44So I will try to explain as much as possible, give that detail of what is happening.
- 4:48I am right now, I am showing my screen.
- 4:51And so just for people that are just listening, I'm going to try to describe
- 4:54it as in much detail as possible. A lot of, so right now I'm on my YouTube page.
- 4:58I'm going to try to switch over. So this video is about what is
- 5:02under the hood making a podcast at least from my world at this point in time
- 5:06It's probably going to look a lot different as the days go on and in the future
- 5:10But I wanted to start it off right here Just so you have a just something to
- 5:14go by if you want to get out there and start Creating videos and get out there
- 5:18and start your own podcast and start and start going,
- 5:20you know Because it's it's cool.
- 5:23It's fun It's fun. It's fun. It just for you as a, as a personal outlet and
- 5:27just talking and connecting with people and like, just actually just doing this,
- 5:32it has opened up so many conversations for me in, in my, in my life, in my personal life.
- 5:37And then just people that I hadn't talked with forever, reaching out to me and
- 5:41contact contacting me and just talking to me and just,
- 5:44and it's really, it's really fun just because if you step into this world of
- 5:48podcasting, whether you want Actually, whatever you're wanting to go for,
- 5:52it's actually just cool because it puts you in a community of people that are
- 5:56doing this type of stuff.
- 5:57But it's really cool, just that aspect of it.
- 6:00All right. So right now I have my YouTube page pulled up. I wanted to go into
- 6:04what it goes in, what goes into my day and actually creating a video and what I'm doing.
- 6:09I'm doing my, my videos like on the, on the weekend with my other show,
- 6:13morning coffee and Bible.
- 6:14And then I'm also doing this, the Brandon Fogel show.
- 6:17Ultimately, I would love to get to the point where I want to do it,
- 6:21where I'm doing a, a conversation type structure where I am have other people
- 6:26on. So what I have learned in doing this, and I wish I would have known immediately at the beginning.
- 6:32So if you are a podcaster, and a lot of people might not know this,
- 6:36for me, whenever I got into this, it took me about a month before I understood
- 6:41what QuickTime was and actually how people were doing it.
- 6:44Because like, I remember I was like, how do I even record myself?
- 6:48I did not understand how do you even record yourself and what to do?
- 6:52And it's like, you want to try to find every, the way to do everything,
- 6:55but then you want to try to find, well, what's the best route of doing it?
- 6:58Because out of all the things that you can do in recording yourself and all
- 7:01that stuff, there's like so many, a million different ways of doing it and a
- 7:04million different choices to make.
- 7:06So I was trying to find how do I even do it in the first place?
- 7:09But it took me forever before I even understood what what QuickTime was,
- 7:13and to even start recording myself by that.
- 7:15I'm not using that now. And I'll actually maybe switch gears and show you what I'm using currently.
- 7:19It might, it might look kind of weird if I pull it up, but I use an app called Detail right now.
- 7:25And Detail, it gives you, and I'll pull this over and it might make you dizzy.
- 7:28I don't know, but you'll see when I'm recording myself, like I can see,
- 7:33I have multiple different camera options. I can share my screen like I'm doing.
- 7:37So if you see this right now, you're seeing like the limitless galaxy of corridors and time.
- 7:44I don't know. That made no sense. But when we get to the editing part,
- 7:47you're going to be able to, I'll show you how you can just cut all that out
- 7:50because a lot of that nonsense, you don't want to be hearing or having people here.
- 7:54Eventually, I will want you hearing that. I want to be at the point where everything
- 7:58I say is worth listening to.
- 8:01I want to get to the point where everything I say is something that will help
- 8:05someone, that will be of value to someone.
- 8:08For me personally, I need to talk, talk, talk, talk, talk to work on being able
- 8:15to say stuff that is valuable for people.
- 8:18I know I basically give you a window to my soul and just show you,
- 8:23I am completely transparent and open.
- 8:26Like you're going to see stuff that you probably wish you hadn't seen.
- 8:29If you ever, if you ever hop into here, cause I'm going to show you how it is
- 8:32because I want to be as authentic to the core as humanly possible.
- 8:37So I want to give that to you really right now. I use one camera.
- 8:41I mean, I have the cameras on my webcams and my computer and everything like
- 8:44that, but I use one camera and it's my phone, but sometimes my wife will let
- 8:49me use her phone, you know, but that's tough. It's tough.
- 8:52If you got a phone to give up your phone to someone else, you know,
- 8:55even for an hour, you know, it's tough, you know, but sometimes I get to use
- 8:59her phone and I'll use multiple angles.
- 9:02Eventually I am actually going to get a legit camera. You know,
- 9:05I got to get something better on the screen than this. Okay.
- 9:07People don't want to see that.
- 9:08People don't want to see that. All right. So I'm going to hop around,
- 9:12but I use that detail app and it just gives you the ability to show your screen,
- 9:16have multiple different cameras. That was the detail app of it.
- 9:20So I, that is just getting that down here and starting recording and,
- 9:24and putting it out there.
- 9:25And that is the software I am currently using of detail.
- 9:28And it's, it's pretty good. I would say it's pretty good. It,
- 9:30I, it has not failed me yet.
- 9:33Next, next, we're going to hop over and I'm going to show you what I'm talking about.
- 9:37What I wish I would have known early, early on.
- 9:40And I'm just going to hop over there it is and now okay obviously
- 9:44right when i click okay right when i click and it says yes i
- 9:47knew when i extend it okay right when i clicked over
- 9:50that and i've expired i am expired okay okay i guess this is all you're gonna
- 9:58get uh you're not gonna unless my internet chooses to speed up this is all we're
- 10:03gonna see i wanted to get in there so uh something i wish i I would have known early on,
- 10:07which was an RSS feed.
- 10:09Basically it's a hub that you can have from one, uh, one site or one place that
- 10:14can host that you can shoot out all your podcasts, all the stuff you create,
- 10:19and it will go to so many different platforms.
- 10:21It can also, I always say post right when I want to say post,
- 10:25it can also post directly to your social media.
- 10:28A lot of, I use right now, I use what's called pod bean and it's really good.
- 10:32This don't let this fool you I wanted to actually get in and show you that my
- 10:36analytics kind of just show you what I'm seeing and all that Maybe they all have to be another video.
- 10:41Man, my internet does not like to work with me when I want it to work,
- 10:44you know? So if you are looking at my screen, all you are seeing is the opening click in thing.
- 10:49But if I try to click in right now, it will just spin and spin and spin and
- 10:52spin. And it just takes it.
- 10:54And the reason is because of my internet, it has nothing to do with the site or anything like that.
- 10:58But so I use what's called pod bean is basically, it's my RSS host site that I can just send from.
- 11:05And whenever I actually learned about the RSS and all that jazz,
- 11:08I, I, I researched searched and try to look at which ones I want to use.
- 11:12And there's different ones. There's ones that cost more. There's ones that cost less.
- 11:15There's ones that are good about one thing and not so good at others.
- 11:19For me, I found that in pod bean actually has its own app for your phone.
- 11:23And that's, that's pretty cool as well. And I actually listened to podcasts
- 11:26on pod bean of other different places because it pulls in from, from everything.
- 11:30And I can also see my own stuff as it's going and being put out there.
- 11:34So I would say pod bean has been very, very good for me, for me.
- 11:37And I, But that is my RSS host site that I'm using to shoot out all my stuff.
- 11:42All right. So a lot of the stuff that I create, I use what's called,
- 11:45what's called, I think people know what this is called, Adobe.
- 11:49I use Adobe for a lot of my stuff. Basically, when you sign up for Adobe and
- 11:54you get like their subscription and all that kind of stuff, they give you so
- 11:57many different things that you can use to create your stuff and editing and all this types of stuff.
- 12:03Adobe is awesome. I love Adobe. Adobe and with it, you get Photoshop and a big
- 12:08one. I'm going to show you in a second.
- 12:10Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro is something that's basically it's an editing software.
- 12:15Like, so right now, if you're looking at my screen, you can see my premiere
- 12:18pro and you can see how I edit stuff basically.
- 12:21And I am, I am a novice at editing and I don't know how, if I'm ever going to
- 12:26get great at it, but right now I've just kind of learned it as I went.
- 12:30And basically you can set it up. So you, you throw your stuff into,
- 12:34into here, into this area.
- 12:36If you're looking at my screen, like if you want to take videos and recording
- 12:39like that, as well as music to overlay,
- 12:41a lot of times I will record and I will actually, I will export from my recording,
- 12:46the, the video portion of it, as well as the audio portion of it,
- 12:51because for some reason, the audio portion pulled out separately.
- 12:55I think it sounds better. And I get a lot more like you see down here,
- 12:59all these different things right here of what are they called?
- 13:02I don't even know a lot of these things, people that like know this stuff,
- 13:06they know the wording and all that jazz, but I am terrible.
- 13:09And especially if I'm talking on and I'm trying to explain it to people that
- 13:12are just listening, the thing, this thing, and that thing, you know,
- 13:18I, I remember like learning about tools when I, growing up, my dad was just
- 13:23like, don't call it a thing.
- 13:24You don't call that a thing. You call it what it is, you know?
- 13:27And that's what you got to do.
- 13:28And I, I've just never been good at that. I guess even in the digital world, I am not good at that.
- 13:33You know, they have what's called workspaces and you can set up your own workspace,
- 13:38like how, if you want, right now I have it in the essentials kind of workspace.
- 13:43And basically that gives you that this different layout right here that you can kind of see.
- 13:47And I found that that's been helpful for me, but you can customize your,
- 13:50your workspace, however you want.
- 13:52Right. So I throw in my stuff and then what you do is you just drop it in here
- 13:57and you can have multiple different videos.
- 13:58And then you go down here and this is like one that I've finished probably the
- 14:02other day and you can screen out, screen in, and basically you go through and
- 14:06you can cut and throw in like,
- 14:09and they have over here, like, I don't know what these things are called.
- 14:12What are, I need to have, um.
- 14:15Things are called me if someone is watching this and they know what these things
- 14:20are called, you know, put them in the comments, make me look a little bit better.
- 14:23I don't know if that would make me look better or worse, but I put them in there
- 14:27so that the people listen to this.
- 14:28They can be like, actually know what these things are called,
- 14:30you know, but man, that is piss poor, piss poor. Okay.
- 14:37So yeah, that's it. Okay.
- 14:41So that yeah you go in here i throw in uh stuff and then i can snip edit cut
- 14:45clip all that jazz and make it how
- 14:48i want it to sound i and and so that's that's what i do that's what i do.
- 14:53So i go in there i pull i clip it up cut it up how i want it to sound and how
- 14:58i want it to look and all that so that so that is premiere pro this is very
- 15:02just like what it looks like under the hood that's what's happening when i'm
- 15:06creating these videos i'm dropping them in here and i'm going and cutting them.
- 15:09And then, and then basically you export it and I'll export a video version and
- 15:14I'll export an audio version, one that I can put on YouTube.
- 15:17And then I'm one, I can just upload to pod bean and pod bean.
- 15:20You can actually upload the video version as well, and it can shoot out,
- 15:23but I'm not really doing that.
- 15:25I'm mainly from pod bean. I'm just sending out the, the audio.
- 15:28And that's because like for, for Spotify, it, it, it gives me this thing that
- 15:33it says Spotify might not, might pull your thing, might pull your video down
- 15:37because it does not support video.
- 15:39Maybe you just got to be that next level because I know people do video on Spotify,
- 15:44but that's just kind of why I just, I will have that different beat.
- 15:49And obviously Apple podcasts, you're not doing a video.
- 15:52It's more a, an audio people just listen.
- 15:55So I want to have both versions of what I'm recording.
- 15:58So, and that's when I will export those from there. All right.
- 16:02Moving right along. So if you are still with me, if you're still hanging in
- 16:05there, I have moved over to what I use is Photoshop.
- 16:08And this is what I pretty much use for editing and creating my thumbnails because
- 16:13thumbnails are very important.
- 16:15So I definitely could get a lot. I could get a lot better at doing them,
- 16:19but basically my process is I will go and I will pull a photo,
- 16:24which I have like with Adobe and you can get a, which is called Adobe stock.
- 16:29And basically it's just different.
- 16:32It can, they can give you videos as well as just pictures, really cool pictures
- 16:36and all that kind of stuff.
- 16:37So I have, I use Adobe stock and I will go and I will pull some type of photo
- 16:43that kind of goes with the theme of whatever video I am creating.
- 16:46And I will pull that. So I try to get something as vibrant as possible because
- 16:51I want my, my pictures just to be something that kind of just pops.
- 16:54And you, I don't, just anybody wants that. And who knows if my,
- 16:57my internet might just blow up if I, if I tried to do that.
- 17:00But I would say what I do is I take that picture of a picture that goes with
- 17:05the theme of what I'm talking about.
- 17:07Then I would put that on, on the canvas.
- 17:10And then I take a picture of myself and I always try to make,
- 17:13to take a, try to take a picture of myself before the video starts,
- 17:17because otherwise I just forget about it. And you're just like,
- 17:19dang, and all that stuff.
- 17:20And I've changed and I'm not looking the same way and all that,
- 17:23but I want it to, I want to get a picture of myself of how I looked in the video.
- 17:26That's just me personally, how I'm doing it. And then I'll take that photo of myself.
- 17:30I will remove the background from that photo of, of that I took of myself, put it on that picture.
- 17:36And then I will do some type, the wording of just the brand of focal show number, whatever I am on.
- 17:41And that's basically all I do. And it's, it's once you kind of learn it and
- 17:45you kind of get into a rhythm, that's why I wanted to do these so often so that
- 17:49I could quickly put one together.
- 17:51I know people, there are definitely professionals out there that know how to
- 17:54make thumbnails and make them.
- 17:56So people want to click into them because that is the whole point of a thumbnail.
- 17:59You want something that stands out that people are actually, it's like.
- 18:04It sparks people's curiosity that they're like, I got to click into this.
- 18:08You just got to keep going and going because something might lift you off,
- 18:12take you to that next level.
- 18:13And then once that happens, if you have a viral moment or something like that,
- 18:18then people will go to your page and see all the stuff that you have created.
- 18:21So just because people aren't watching your stuff now, it doesn't mean that
- 18:26something's going to just blow up and then people are going to go to your stuff
- 18:30and just gangbuster style, just watch all your stuff. you know?
- 18:34So that's, that's game buster stuff.
- 18:40Okay. All right. So that's what I do to create the thumbnail.
- 18:44So I hope you took away something from this and I will put more stuff out there
- 18:49like this and go into more detail so you can see in depth how I am editing and
- 18:53cutting stuff and putting it together so that maybe you can take away and use
- 18:57it in whatever content that you want to create and put out there.
- 18:59You know, all these things, it can just maybe spark something in your mind to
- 19:04say, wow, I maybe took that part away and I could use that to refine my process.
- 19:09You know, so I hope something will be a benefit to you and give you value.
- 19:12Basically, if you can just see what I'm doing, maybe it'll help you in some way or fashion.
- 19:18So I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and I'll see you in the next video.
