Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What up, y'all? It's your boy KevOnStage.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Tony Baker.
- 0:03Speaker 1: This is the Ball Brothers Podcast, where me and my
- 0:05Speaker 1: good friend Tony Baker like to wax poetic on whatever
- 0:09Speaker 1: we want. Now, this has been a movie podcast for
- 0:12Speaker 1: a long time, since we came back last few months.
- 0:16Speaker 1: But you know what? We're making a special exception to
- 0:21Speaker 1: talk lanterns.
- 0:22Speaker 2: There's probably going to be more special exceptions going forward.
- 0:25Speaker 1: You know what? Because there's all kinds of stuff we
- 0:27Speaker 1: want to talk about.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Because some of this stuff is cinematic, man. Some of
- 0:29Speaker 3: this stuff is cinematic. This is a buddy cop show.
- 0:34Speaker 1: This is a buddy cop. It feels like a version of.
- 0:39Speaker 1: HBO shows. True Detective. True Detective. Feels like True Detective
- 0:44Speaker 1: with superheroes muted. We're going to talk everything episodes one
- 0:48Speaker 1: through five. Since we ain't talking about it, let's start
- 0:50Speaker 1: at the very beginning. Yeah. Me, Kevin, I know this
- 0:52Speaker 1: is going to be different between me and Tony. I
- 0:55Speaker 1: knew nothing about the Green Lantern that was not explained
- 1:00Speaker 1: in Ryan Reynolds' movies. I'm not a DC fan, did
- 1:05Speaker 1: not watch the comics, didn't watch a whole bunch of
- 1:07Speaker 1: Justice League. Is Green Lantern in the Justice League? Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Never watched no, read no solo stuff of his.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Don't even remember nothing but the Brother Ryan Mills movie.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I did not like it as most people did.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It was notoriously whack.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Terrible. He set them back 15 years. I mean, he... They.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I ain't gonna blame him. But he kind of crapped
- 1:27Speaker 1: on it in the X-Men stuff.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Everybody knew.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Everybody knew it was trash.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Everybody knew it was garbage.
- 1:33Speaker 1: So I remember when Aaron Pierre, that's Mufasa, was cast
- 1:41Speaker 1: as Jon Stewart. I didn't even know there was multiple
- 1:44Speaker 1: human Green Lanterns. Yeah. So I find out about Guy Gardner.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And non-human. I knew about the non-human. I knew Sinestro's human. No. No.
- 1:52Speaker 1: He's an alien boy? Yeah. He looks human in it.
- 1:54Speaker 3: He just looks like he got a suntan in the shirt. Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 2: But in the comics, he's really way more purple.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And his head is huge.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So Guy Gardner is human. Yes. Green Lantern. So Hal
- 2:07Speaker 1: Jordan was the first. Yeah. Guy Gardner was second?
- 2:11Speaker 3: Was Guy Gardner before Jon Stewart?
- 2:13Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Okay. I get confused.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Because Guy Gardner was in the Superman movie I just watched,
- 2:18Speaker 1: the most recent one, David Cornswet. Oh, yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 3: That was Guy Garner?
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, Guy Garner.
- 2:23Speaker 2: With the ridiculous haircut.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Haircut. I forgot that actor's name.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I think he might have debuted after Jon Stewart.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I can't remember.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Okay. But I didn't know much.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So when episode one kicked off, I was like, oh,
- 2:40Speaker 1: this is True Detective. Yeah. Which I liked.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Let me tell you what. Coach from Friday Night Lights. Yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 1: is perfect. I like a grizzled veteran superhero. It reminds
- 2:55Speaker 1: me of Logan, you know, he's past his prime, he's
- 3:00Speaker 1: a little older, he's a little scruffier, he's a little,
- 3:03Speaker 1: he's a little grizzled, but also like a little bitter.
- 3:08Speaker 1: He doesn't want to let it go.
- 3:09Speaker 2: He doesn't want to let it go.
- 3:10Speaker 1: See, two things can be true.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's kind of worn on me.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I'm lonely.
- 3:15Speaker 1: But replace me? Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Oh, hell no.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Because what does he have left?
- 3:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:22Speaker 1: What does Hal Jordan, who's the actor's name? Eric something?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Why am I blanking on his name?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Eric, Nathan Fillion. Thank you. No, no. No, Nathan Fillion
- 3:30Speaker 1: is Guy Gardner.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Kyle Chandler.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Kyle Chandler. Thank you. His name was Coach Eric in
- 3:35Speaker 1: Friday Night Lights. Kyle Chandler from Friday Night Lights. He
- 3:40Speaker 1: was also really good in Wolf of Wall Street. He
- 3:41Speaker 1: was in some other TV show. He was in that.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But I didn't see him. He's basically Coach Eric Taylor
- 3:46Speaker 1: in everything. Yeah. Which I don't mind.
- 3:48Speaker 3: I don't mind. Hey, man, if it's working, it's working.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It works right here.
- 3:50Speaker 3: It works.
- 3:51Speaker 1: That's why they call him.
- 3:53Speaker 2: He reminds me of Riggs, too, in Lethal Weapon.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yes!
- 3:56Speaker 2: He reminds me of that as well.
- 3:57Speaker 1: For sure. I'm sick of this.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sick of it. Kind of like, I'll put
- 4:01Speaker 2: my life at risk. It's whatever.
- 4:03Speaker 1: For sure.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I also care what I don't care.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But I do what I don't.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I do what I don't.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He also has... You know what he does that I love?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Do you remember the show Columbo? Yeah. He is Columbo.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I love Columbo.
- 4:17Speaker 1: He is always acting like he doesn't know what's going on.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah. Because Columbo is the king of life. What I
- 4:25Speaker 3: like about Columbo, they show you who did the murder.
- 4:28Speaker 1: For sure.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Our joy is watching Columbo figure everything out. Yes.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Columbo come up in there, wrinkled trench coat.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Remind me again why you picked, because I know she
- 4:40Speaker 3: got the Chevrolet outside. Very detailed, clean.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And you said your car was dirty.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I just, I can't get past.
- 4:49Speaker 2: He's my wife. She says I just mull over this thing.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Now, last night, you said he just do that thing
- 4:57Speaker 3: until they just start cracking.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Columbo always walking away.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Always one more thing.
- 5:02Speaker 1: One more thing.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Let me pull up my... every time.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So you said your name was Tony in the morning,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but here I say your name was Char.
- 5:09Speaker 3: When he first called that first alien. He was like,
- 5:11Speaker 3: I know this. Man.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I mentioned a black president and you had no reaction.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That was so good, Tony. He said, what are your
- 5:21Speaker 1: thoughts on Obama? 44th president of the United States. That's
- 5:25Speaker 1: all you think about as a white man in Nebraska?
- 5:29Speaker 3: Nebraska?
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's all you think about Obama?
- 5:32Speaker 2: You an alien.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Ain't no way you regular.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Ain't no way. That's all it took. He was like,
- 5:39Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on Obama? I don't know. He's
- 5:40Speaker 1: the president of the United States. Huh.
- 5:43Speaker 2: What galaxy are you from?
- 5:48Speaker 1: The fact that you are white and not racist, because
- 5:52Speaker 1: the thing is, it's not even not racist. You could
- 5:55Speaker 1: not be middle of the ground on Obama. You either
- 5:58Speaker 1: were like, absolutely not. He's destroying our country. Hussein. He's
- 6:03Speaker 1: from Kenya. He wasn't born here. He's not even American.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Or you're, this is great. It's time for change. I
- 6:09Speaker 1: voted for Obama. Reading the Wikipedia page of Obama ain't
- 6:13Speaker 1: no way. There's no way. Ain't no. All right, y'all.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Secure the perimeter. He's not real. Remember that white lady
- 6:21Speaker 1: on the plane? That mother effer is not real. So
- 6:26Speaker 1: I thought that was great. Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And he was right.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And he was absolutely right. So now let me ask
- 6:34Speaker 1: a few questions. What the hell was the alien doing?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Why?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Because he went there basically to find the Manhunter. Right. No,
- 6:50Speaker 1: something was wrong in his gut in episode one, right?
- 6:52Speaker 1: He was like, because they don't start off in Rushville.
- 6:55Speaker 1: He's like summoned there.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, he got summoned there from, who the hell? I'm
- 7:00Speaker 3: trying to remember the first episode. Who the hell summoned him?
- 7:04Speaker 2: Oh, himself.
- 7:05Speaker 1: The Sentry. Yeah. The Sentry. The Sentry. There's something.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yes, he gave Jon Stewart like a phrase.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Then once he told Hal that, that's when he just
- 7:16Speaker 3: took off.
- 7:17Speaker 1: That's what it was. So when he first go there,
- 7:20Speaker 1: he's going, because there was the mass shooting at the
- 7:25Speaker 1: football game. Alien detector went off. But he wasn't on
- 7:31Speaker 1: to the Manhunter first, right? No. That came later. It
- 7:36Speaker 1: was Macon. Once he got onto Macon, he was like,
- 7:41Speaker 1: something's going on with that dude. I got to get
- 7:43Speaker 1: to the bottom of that. Because remember, he had the guns.
- 7:47Speaker 1: He was just like, something's off about this Macon dude. Right.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Because he had the technology. Because the metal detector wasn't
- 7:55Speaker 1: for metal. No, that was the alien detector. The alien detector, right.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So that's when he was like, there's something going on here.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I'm not going to leave until I figure it out. Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Then I feel like the Manhunter thing came in with
- 8:05Speaker 1: Jon Stewart.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Jon Stewart, yeah, when they hemmed him up.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Because Anton- It's Anton.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Is that the dude from The Wire?
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's who that is!
- 8:14Speaker 3: Oh, you were trying to piece together who that was?
- 8:16Speaker 1: I didn't look it up because you'd be missing stuff.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I was like, he's the Greek.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Well, he's not the Greek. He worked for the Greek.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah, he's the main.
- 8:24Speaker 1: He was Bondus. Yeah. He didn't have the hat on.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah, no hat.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Man, HBO gonna run them actors back.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 8:33Speaker 1: HBO gonna run them actors back.
- 8:36Speaker 2: For sure, dog.
- 8:37Speaker 1: That's who that was.
- 8:38Speaker 3: The old girl, the sheriff is from Boardwalk Empire. She
- 8:43Speaker 3: sure is.
- 8:43Speaker 1: She's just like Beattie in season two of The Wire,
- 8:46Speaker 1: the security guard.
- 8:48Speaker 2: They do give me that similar vibe.
- 8:49Speaker 1: That actress could have played her. Yeah. But she is
- 8:52Speaker 1: a wardrobe.
- 8:52Speaker 2: They got an awesome look.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah. That dude who plays Herc been on three HBO
- 8:56Speaker 1: shows before. Dude who play Al Capone, Stephen Graham, he
- 9:00Speaker 1: been on a few HBO shows. The HBO be like,
- 9:03Speaker 1: once we got you, you come here. Man, we like
- 9:05Speaker 1: what you got going, man. Come through. So, yeah. So,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I love this... animosity that Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart have.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's an interesting animosity because they cool one
- 9:18Speaker 3: minute and they just add odds the next.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I just love how their dynamic is. It just makes
- 9:24Speaker 2: it more intriguing.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Even now with the latest episode when it came to
- 9:29Speaker 3: a head between those two, it's still just super interesting.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:35Speaker 2: They still have.
- 9:36Speaker 1: The common goal though. Yeah. They want to do it
- 9:40Speaker 1: their own way. Right.
- 9:41Speaker 2: They each want to do it their own way, and
- 9:43Speaker 2: they're just like, I'm going to do it.
- 9:46Speaker 1: No, you ain't.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yes, you will.
- 9:47Speaker 1: No, I'm not. No, the Bald Brothers link didn't come
- 9:50Speaker 1: through Patreon.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Oh, it didn't?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Just want to make sure we're good.
- 9:55Speaker 2: That's pretty low.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Did you put yours in, Tone? Yeah, I put mine in.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm going to throw it in, Josh. I was just like,
- 10:06Speaker 1: hold on. Oh, this show is actually not called Green Lanterns.
- 10:11Speaker 1: It's called Lanterns, right? Yeah. All right.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Oh, they hear from mine.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Oh, Jesus. I'm about to eat something unhealthy after this.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I had a long day. Oh, my God. I'm making
- 10:29Speaker 1: a bad choice. All right. We know you're going to
- 10:31Speaker 1: Sweet Green, man. Watch out.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Go to Sweet Green, yo.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah, no.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Oh, my God. I'll kill you there. All right. So
- 10:38Speaker 1: how Jordan has the ring. This is what I wanted
- 10:40Speaker 1: to understand. I didn't understand. The ring is the ring, right?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Or does each person get their own ring? This is
- 10:49Speaker 1: what I was unsure about because the ring's the ring. Yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 1: that's why they're trying to tell him to take it
- 10:57Speaker 1: from him and say the oath. Okay, Darkest Night, got you.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So Guy Gardner in the comics, how did this happen?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Because I've read that there's one sector ring, then there's
- 11:09Speaker 1: two for Earth. How did it work in the comics?
- 11:12Speaker 3: I don't know a lot about Guy, because I didn't
- 11:15Speaker 3: grow up reading. Like, when I was reading, like, DC,
- 11:18Speaker 3: my brother had Green Lantern comics.
- 11:19Speaker 2: It was Hal Jordan.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Only? Yeah. Okay, okay.
- 11:23Speaker 3: And then, so I really wasn't privy to, like, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 3: everything that was going on with the Green Lanterns. By
- 11:27Speaker 3: the time I would dip back in, it would be
- 11:30Speaker 3: a different Green Lantern. Oh, that's not Hal Jordan. Oh,
- 11:32Speaker 3: that's Jon Stewart.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I was just finding out later on. Then, you know,
- 11:36Speaker 3: you find out that. Hal Jordan was connected to the Spectre.
- 11:40Speaker 3: What's the Spectre? The Spectre is this super powerful being
- 11:45Speaker 3: that's in the DC universe. He's on the upper echelon
- 11:49Speaker 3: of just powerful beings. So Hal Jordan became him for
- 11:54Speaker 3: a little bit because the Spectre takes possession of different people.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Okay, that's a big part of this show.
- 12:01Speaker 2: The Spectre?
- 12:02Speaker 1: No, no, the taking different forms. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 3: And then... How Jordan becomes kind of like a villain
- 12:10Speaker 3: for a little while called Parallax or whatever.
- 12:12Speaker 1: I've heard of this.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 1: What's Parallax? Catch me up.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Now, Parallax is.
- 12:17Speaker 1: He's not a planet eating monster.
- 12:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I'm trying to get the lore correct on how he
- 12:25Speaker 3: became Parallax. Because it's a combination of... Because each... There's
- 12:30Speaker 3: a lot of different rings in the DC universe.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:33Speaker 2: And each color represents a different emotion.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Now this, I know green is willpower. Yellow is fear. Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 1: So there's more than that.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Red is, uh, anger or rage, I think.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I'm not knowing. They got different, different colors. I forget
- 12:46Speaker 3: which color represents which emotion, but they got all different
- 12:49Speaker 3: kind of, so there's yellow. There's like the, the main
- 12:52Speaker 3: guy in the red ring is like this dude named
- 12:54Speaker 3: atrocities or something like that.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:57Speaker 3: And so, um, But the parallax thing, because I just
- 13:01Speaker 3: recently watched the animated Green Lantern joint.
- 13:05Speaker 2: On HBO Max.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:07Speaker 2: And they had Hal Jordan on there.
- 13:09Speaker 3: It was Jon Stewart. The ring came to Jon Stewart.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Jon Stewart was like, man, I don't want this ring.
- 13:13Speaker 3: So he started working with some of the Justice League
- 13:15Speaker 3: members that were still around. So it was like Green
- 13:17Speaker 3: Arrow and Marshall Manhunter didn't go, but he was in
- 13:20Speaker 3: the episode.
- 13:21Speaker 2: And Hulk Girl.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 2: And they just went on the mission. They found Hal Jordan.
- 13:27Speaker 3: They're like, what happened to you? Yeah, man, you know, Sinestro,
- 13:29Speaker 3: I sent the ring to you so Sinestro wouldn't get it.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And then the plot twist was Hal Jordan was in
- 13:35Speaker 3: on it, and he had Sinestro working for him.
- 13:38Speaker 2: So he was kind of like parallax.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I was just like, oh, shit, because Green Arrow noticed
- 13:43Speaker 3: that Hal Jordan was killing people on the mission. And
- 13:46Speaker 3: Green Arrow was like, yo, Hal, hey, man, you know
- 13:48Speaker 3: what I'm saying? I've been out here a while, man.
- 13:50Speaker 3: He's all fully bearded.
- 13:52Speaker 2: And so.
- 13:55Speaker 3: So from that, like, you know, so I was just
- 13:57Speaker 3: getting acclimated to, like, the.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Deeper lore of Green Lantern. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 3: So since I wasn't that deep in it, I'm coming
- 14:04Speaker 3: in kind of almost fresh.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Because I'm used to Jon Stewart from the Justice League
- 14:10Speaker 3: animated series.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I came in as a fresh baby.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I didn't. When they had to charge the lantern, the
- 14:18Speaker 1: ring had to be charged. I said, you ain't got
- 14:22Speaker 1: no portable charger? What? What you mean you gotta go
- 14:24Speaker 1: hook it back up?
- 14:25Speaker 2: You gotta hook it back up, man.
- 14:27Speaker 1: He left it at home because he almost died because
- 14:29Speaker 1: he didn't have the charge.
- 14:30Speaker 2: You gotta plug it in.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Like, what kind.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Of superpower is this? You ain't got the unlimited minutes?
- 14:35Speaker 3: It's just the ring, man. You know what I'm saying?
- 14:37Speaker 1: You got the keys. You got a darkest night every.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Every time.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Because in this episode, I want to get to
- 14:43Speaker 1: this too much. She was like, I'm going to run
- 14:44Speaker 1: that battery down. Then I'm going to kill him. Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 1: And it was working. Like, she's laser bomb, laser bomb.
- 14:50Speaker 1: He's running out of stuff. Yeah. He strikes the ring,
- 14:53Speaker 1: you know. But let's go back. I want to go back.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 14:57Speaker 1: The lowest rated episode is the best episode. Of course.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Because the racist bigots.
- 15:02Speaker 1: The bigots were like, we don't want to hear a
- 15:05Speaker 1: word about this black backstory, you black bastard. We didn't
- 15:09Speaker 1: want you in here at all.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:10Speaker 1: We wanted Hal Jordan only. Apparently in the comics, Hal
- 15:13Speaker 1: Jordan had a little racy elements. Somebody was posting clips of, like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: there was race elements in the comic book. Well, well.
- 15:20Speaker 1: How about that? When Jon Stewart, he was like, there
- 15:21Speaker 1: was a black dude like, yo, Hal Jordan, you sold
- 15:23Speaker 1: us out. You helping this person, that person. You don't
- 15:25Speaker 1: help American black people. And he was like. All right, man,
- 15:28Speaker 1: watch out. Basically, paraphrasing. Right, right. So it's like, also,
- 15:31Speaker 1: this is what's frustrating about getting things called, things being
- 15:36Speaker 1: called woke. We have unlimited content of white people of
- 15:45Speaker 1: all shapes, sizes, and colors in Ghost Deep. Right. Sopranos
- 15:49Speaker 1: to my big fat Greek wedding to this. Right. We,
- 15:53Speaker 1: as all the minorities, I'm talking, obviously I'm a black person,
- 15:56Speaker 1: but Asian people, Hispanic people, all the other people, we
- 16:02Speaker 1: never complain. You get one episode, because Jon Stewart, even
- 16:07Speaker 1: the comics were like, this is not a full Jon
- 16:09Speaker 1: Stewart backstory. Right. So the DC people were like, this backstory,
- 16:14Speaker 1: because I watched the behind the scenes of episode three. Yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 1: They were like, this is low key. The first time
- 16:19Speaker 1: anything spent any real time explaining Jon Stewart's backstory. Right.
- 16:24Speaker 1: As a black person in America, it wasn't even super race-based.
- 16:28Speaker 3: It wasn't.
- 16:28Speaker 1: It was just, we going to spend time understanding him.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And people were like, that's enough for me. It's now woke.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I'm not watching it no more.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm rating it low. Yeah. As a black person, I
- 16:38Speaker 1: was like, absolutely. There's no way a black father in
- 16:42Speaker 1: America can show no fear. Right. Impossible. It explains why
- 16:47Speaker 1: how Jordan can show no fear. His dad died. He's
- 16:50Speaker 1: got the test pilot thing going. He's lonely. Right. He
- 16:53Speaker 1: has nothing to lose. Even if you have something to lose,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I'm afraid for the loss of my child. Right. Even
- 16:58Speaker 1: if I'm fearless and everything else. Yeah. And then you
- 17:01Speaker 1: have the, like, black excellence and achievement of, like, and
- 17:05Speaker 1: then what that does to his relationship with his brothers. Like,
- 17:08Speaker 1: you missing out on great storytelling because you can't get
- 17:11Speaker 1: past the race element. His mom is the Joe Jackson character.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You think it's the dad. Shout out J. Alphonse Nicholson.
- 17:18Speaker 2: She killed it.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Jasmine Cephas Jones. That's Ron Cephas Jones, baby. Hamilton. Peggy.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I don't know nothing about Hamilton, but yeah.
- 17:26Speaker 1: You're missing out. She plays Peggy in Mariah Reynolds in
- 17:30Speaker 1: the original Broadway cast of Hamilton.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:32Speaker 1: She's fantastic.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 1: But his parents were like, the other two kids, you're done. Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 1: We're focusing on John.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Y'all just do whatever y'all want. We don't focus on
- 17:42Speaker 2: this boy right here.
- 17:43Speaker 1: We're shooting apples off top of John Stewart's head as
- 17:47Speaker 1: a seven-year-old baby.
- 17:48Speaker 2: How come there was never no bullet hole past the apple?
- 17:53Speaker 1: You know what? That's a great point.
- 17:55Speaker 3: They would shoot the apple off right in front of
- 17:57Speaker 3: the garage.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Same spot. Year after year. Hey, man.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Random gunshot.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It's mad. And nobody looking out the window. What neighborhood
- 18:08Speaker 1: they live in? Random city in America. They just like, yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: you know, the blacks over there shooting apples again. When
- 18:14Speaker 1: that little boy was like, I'm ready to shoot now.
- 18:16Speaker 1: She was like, let me call your father. He was like, no.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I love that part.
- 18:19Speaker 1: You.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Because she was loving it when Pops was up there
- 18:21Speaker 3: on the chopping block. Now he was like, no, I'm
- 18:24Speaker 3: ready now to go get your father. She was all nervous.
- 18:29Speaker 1: And I don't like hamburgers. He likes cheeseburgers.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I love the fact that he's vegan.
- 18:37Speaker 1: He's vegan with the full-on muscles. I love it.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Vegan with the full-on muscles. I love that whole scene
- 18:45Speaker 1: when they gave him the, when they explained why he
- 18:48Speaker 1: got discharged. And it was Hal Jordan's fault, but he
- 18:53Speaker 1: didn't know. But showing the lengths that Jon Stewart would
- 18:57Speaker 1: go to.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Man, he was out there for months.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Nine months, Tone, eating bugs and grass. He's out there.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Doing push-ups. And when he finally has the shot, here
- 19:07Speaker 1: comes freaking Hal mother effing Jordan. Coming in to save
- 19:12Speaker 1: the day, blowing everything up. Yeah. Flies back off, and
- 19:16Speaker 1: Jon Stewart loses the military career. Yeah. The hell you mean?
- 19:21Speaker 3: Just dips right off smooth. I'd be so pissed if
- 19:24Speaker 3: Jon handled it. And you get dishonorably discharged.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Come on, man. And you get dishonorably discharged.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Come on, dog.
- 19:31Speaker 1: How freaking Jordan is a dick?
- 19:33Speaker 3: He's just a loose cannon, man.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Lord. Which is rigs. Big rigs.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Big rigs.
- 19:39Speaker 1: But that scene... Episode title, I mean, that episode's called OutKast. Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 1: They got OutKast playing. Yeah. They saying nigga in the
- 19:48Speaker 1: DC universe.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Canon. And it feels right.
- 19:53Speaker 2: It just feel right, man.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Because you got Vanessa Baden-Kelly. From Gullah Gullah Island, Kenan
- 20:00Speaker 1: and Kel's sister is one of the EPs. She wrote
- 20:04Speaker 1: that episode. You get black people in there to tell
- 20:06Speaker 1: black stories, they know how to make nigga feel right.
- 20:09Speaker 1: They don't even know out there.
- 20:11Speaker 3: The seasoning just felt right.
- 20:13Speaker 2: The seasoning just felt right. I was like, this episode
- 20:17Speaker 2: feels right. Oh, my.
- 20:18Speaker 1: It was one of my favorite episodes of TV. As
- 20:20Speaker 1: a black person, I'm like, man, black DC? Shout out
- 20:23Speaker 1: James Gunn. Yeah. Because I thought nothing would come close
- 20:27Speaker 1: to Penguin. Penguin was elite.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Penguin was excellent.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Penguin was excellent. Now, Lanterns is up there. It ain't
- 20:35Speaker 1: caught Penguin yet. And probably only because Colin Farrell as Penguin,
- 20:41Speaker 1: he's just, he's operating on another stratosphere as an actor.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Penguin was excellent.
- 20:45Speaker 2: But this is right up there with it.
- 20:47Speaker 1: But this is what I love about both those shows.
- 20:49Speaker 1: They are very grounded. Yes. Superhero shows that are like,
- 20:52Speaker 1: that's what I like about Spider-Man. He's not Avengers level threat.
- 20:56Speaker 1: We're not talking about Earth existential crisis, the Scovia Accords,
- 21:00Speaker 1: we're picking up towns. I got to find this one
- 21:03Speaker 1: alien manhunter before this Anton dude. So Anton's another alien?
- 21:09Speaker 2: Anton is, which one's Anton?
- 21:11Speaker 1: That's the dude from The Wire. He was like, you
- 21:13Speaker 1: got three days to find the lantern.
- 21:15Speaker 2: As far as I knew, he was an alien.
- 21:17Speaker 1: So is he taking the form of a human as well?
- 21:19Speaker 1: Because all them other dudes, they look like they were
- 21:21Speaker 1: on some robot stuff. Right. Where it's suicide bomber, kamikaze
- 21:25Speaker 1: type stuff.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll do this. Boom.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I assumed he was an alien. But was he the
- 21:30Speaker 1: Manhunter's baby father? Because he was asking the Manhunter, we
- 21:34Speaker 1: had kids together. Remember when he was talking to Will
- 21:36Speaker 1: Macon and he was speaking a different language?
- 21:38Speaker 2: You think Anton's the baby father?
- 21:41Speaker 1: He seemed like he asked if we had kids together.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Because remember he was like, it's not like you to
- 21:46Speaker 1: take the form of the elite. Like they didn't have kids,
- 21:51Speaker 1: but I'm saying, I'm saying baby father is a joke.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Oh, okay, gotcha.
- 21:53Speaker 1: But like they were in a relationship, him with the Manhunter. Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 1: But I don't know what kind of, I don't know
- 21:58Speaker 1: what a Manhunter was prior, I honestly don't really know
- 22:01Speaker 1: what a Manhunter is.
- 22:03Speaker 3: When they first said Manhunter, I was thinking Martian Manhunter.
- 22:05Speaker 3: I was like, oh shit, the Martian Manhunter gonna show up.
- 22:08Speaker 3: But then it was something else.
- 22:09Speaker 1: I was just like, oh, all right. What is the Manhunter?
- 22:12Speaker 1: What up, y'all? It's your boy Kevin on stage. I
- 22:13Speaker 1: want to take a quick break from the show to
- 22:14Speaker 1: tell you about our sponsor for today, Polymarket. Football is back, folks,
- 22:19Speaker 1: as you can see, and you need to change the
- 22:21Speaker 1: way you invest in the NFL this season. It's time
- 22:24Speaker 1: to finally ditch your old sportsbooks apps because Polymarket is here.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Polymarket is a legal prediction market now available in all
- 22:33Speaker 1: 50 states. All those old sportsbooks are a relic of
- 22:38Speaker 1: the past. On Polymarket, you can trade all things NFL
- 22:41Speaker 1: from the Sunday slate to who wins Rookie of the Year,
- 22:44Speaker 1: who performs at the halftime show, who's the MVP. We
- 22:49Speaker 1: hear from listeners all the time about sportsbooks driving them crazy,
- 22:52Speaker 1: trying to cash out live. They can block you as
- 22:54Speaker 1: often as they want, holding your money hostage. Polymarket gives
- 22:59Speaker 1: you the freedom to cash out instantly. If the momentum swings,
- 23:02Speaker 1: you sell off in real time. You are in control.
- 23:05Speaker 1: No one can lock you out and you can also
- 23:07Speaker 1: buy in any time. So when the market dips, like
- 23:11Speaker 1: if a team starts off slow and drops to, say,
- 23:12Speaker 1: 40 percent, that's not a loss. That's when you buy in.
- 23:17Speaker 1: At Polymarket, you can buy cheap and ride the momentum
- 23:19Speaker 1: back up. Polymarket is so confident that you'll never go
- 23:23Speaker 1: back to the old way they're issuing you a challenge.
- 23:26Speaker 1: They're giving you a $ 50 bonus when you deposit just $ 10.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Sign up right now with the promo code BALDBROS. That's
- 23:32Speaker 1: polymarket.us and use the promo code BALDBROS to get a
- 23:37Speaker 1: $ 50 bonus when you deposit just $ 10. And now, back
- 23:41Speaker 1: to the show.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I thought I was alone. I didn't want to say it.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I thought it was very obvious.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I didn't know, because the whole time, any time they
- 23:50Speaker 3: were talking Manhunter stuff, I was like, Martian Manhunter. I
- 23:52Speaker 3: just wanted it to be Martian Manhunter. But I was
- 23:55Speaker 3: just like, oh, it's something else. And I was still
- 23:58Speaker 3: on the ropes. So the Guardians created the Manhunters. Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 3: that part I got.
- 24:12Speaker 1: But why? They were created by the Guardians to fight
- 24:19Speaker 1: against evil, Patreon saying.
- 24:21Speaker 3: So then the Lanterns are the replacement Guardians?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Maybe. Okay, so somebody on Patreon says, Manhunters are robots
- 24:32Speaker 1: that the Guardians created before the Lantern Corps. Manhunters went
- 24:35Speaker 1: all police brutality, so the Guardians tried to kill them.
- 24:37Speaker 1: I got that part where they're like, everybody died but one,
- 24:40Speaker 1: so they went full Blue Lives Matter.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Got you, okay.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, spoilers. That should be obvious, I'm sorry.
- 24:49Speaker 2: The Lanners replaced the Guardians.
- 24:52Speaker 1: The Lanners replaced the Manhunters?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yes, the Lanners replaced the Manhunters.
- 24:57Speaker 1: They were like, we went too far with these guys.
- 25:00Speaker 2: We need a different.
- 25:00Speaker 1: We need to pull back.
- 25:01Speaker 3: We need some actual sentient beings to come in here
- 25:05Speaker 3: and just.
- 25:07Speaker 1: So the Manhunters AI, basically. Pretty much.
- 25:10Speaker 3: They're just like, yo, these robots is getting out of hand.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Got you. Now... The Guardians, are they like that tribunal
- 25:21Speaker 1: in X-Men where it was like Mr., when Jim was- Oh.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You talking about the living tribunal?
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 25:27Speaker 1: When it was like John Krasinski, it was like all them- Oh, you.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Talking about the Illuminati. That's their name.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Oh, it is? Really?
- 25:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Oh, I thought you were being funny.
- 25:38Speaker 2: That was in Doctor Strange 2?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Yeah. That's the Illuminati.
- 25:41Speaker 1: When the mouth person got closed?
- 25:44Speaker 3: In the comic books, it was like Doctor Strange and
- 25:46Speaker 3: Tony Stark. It was just like.
- 25:48Speaker 2: The Guardians are more.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Would say they're more powerful than them kind of, sort of.
- 25:59Speaker 3: They remind me of the Watchers, but they be doing
- 26:01Speaker 3: more than watch because they be out here doing stuff
- 26:03Speaker 3: and creating beings to do certain things. But I wouldn't
- 26:07Speaker 3: say they would like the Illuminati though.
- 26:10Speaker 1: So they're like peacekeeping.
- 26:14Speaker 2: But I'm like, who are they guarding? Let me look
- 26:19Speaker 2: up who.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Because the guardians were, the Landry's report to the guardians
- 26:22Speaker 1: the same way the Manhunters did. Right.
- 26:29Speaker 2: The Guardians of Green Lantern.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Okay, CT6985 said, Guardians are the oldest beings in the universe.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Ancient immortal founders and leaders of the Green Lantern Corps
- 26:51Speaker 3: operating from their headquarters on the planet O at the
- 26:55Speaker 3: center of the cosmos.
- 26:59Speaker 1: That's the planet Hal Jordan was talking about once he
- 27:01Speaker 1: catches the Manhunter. He's like, I'm about to be on
- 27:03Speaker 1: the planet O before y'all even find me.
- 27:04Speaker 2: It's like, man, he get there that quick?
- 27:10Speaker 3: And the Manhunters, with their first attempt at a galactic
- 27:13Speaker 3: police force, was an android race called the Manhunters, which
- 27:16Speaker 3: ultimately malfunctioned and slaughtered trillions in the Forgotten Zone.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Oh, God. Hey, man, I feel so out of my depth.
- 27:25Speaker 1: But this is actually part of the reason why I
- 27:26Speaker 1: like this show.
- 27:27Speaker 2: It's great, though.
- 27:28Speaker 1: Because I'm like, I don't know all the behind the scenes.
- 27:31Speaker 1: And it's a good show's responsibility is to say, for example,
- 27:36Speaker 1: I like comic books. I like superhero stuff. I know nothing.
- 27:38Speaker 1: And I don't remember nothing about Ryan Reynolds. So I'm
- 27:40Speaker 1: literally like, I'm going to check this out. I like
- 27:44Speaker 1: Aaron Pierre. I like Kyle Chandler. I like DC. James
- 27:48Speaker 1: Gunn been doing some good stuff. Let me check out
- 27:50Speaker 1: episode one.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I'm in.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Yeah. And you also don't have to know everything about
- 27:54Speaker 1: everything to enjoy the show. Right. Right? Manhunter bad. Got
- 27:59Speaker 1: to find him in three days or you're dead. Yeah. Well,
- 28:03Speaker 1: you don't need to know much more than that. Right.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I need to, okay, who is it? I love a
- 28:07Speaker 1: good whodunit. Right. Right? Obviously, they point to Will Macon
- 28:10Speaker 1: and I'm like, I didn't catch that it was Zoey
- 28:14Speaker 1: right away. But as they explained it more, I was like, Oh, yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 1: she's the only one that makes sense. Yeah. Because he
- 28:23Speaker 1: was always a front man. We just didn't know who
- 28:25Speaker 1: it was for. But she, as the Manhunter, is very unassuming. Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 1: You think with that power, it's this big boss coming
- 28:32Speaker 1: in big, strong, and it's the most unassuming. I assume
- 28:37Speaker 1: she's an Indian woman.
- 28:38Speaker 3: That's why I wasn't sure what ethnicity was.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm not familiar with this actress.
- 28:46Speaker 3: So....
- 28:50Speaker 1: So she's sneaking by, right? He's like, well, you helped
- 28:54Speaker 1: me and all this type of stuff. So I'm like,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I thought it was a secret person we hadn't heard,
- 28:57Speaker 1: and he was just hiding that person. Right. Come to
- 29:00Speaker 1: find out, it's Granny with the fire coochie the whole time.
- 29:03Speaker 1: The Manhunter coochie go crazy, Tone.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I mean, you know, the android coochie, man.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Android coochie is intergalactically designed for maximum pleasure. How many
- 29:15Speaker 1: pumps can you last in the Manhunter coochie? Like, how long?
- 29:21Speaker 3: She was born in the Mediterranean, but grew up in Ireland, Argentina, Pakistan,
- 29:25Speaker 3: and Brazil.
- 29:26Speaker 1: What's her name?
- 29:27Speaker 3: Her name is Purna Jaganathan.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Oh, so that sounds like an Indian name. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Android Pum Pum. Pum Pum. Android Pum Pum. Pum Pum. So, yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 1: So we get to this episode. Wait, let me back up.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Episode four. The moment that Hal Jordan played, and this
- 29:58Speaker 1: is what I like about this too, this show. Jon
- 30:02Speaker 1: Stewart is all rule following, brute. He's smart, but he's
- 30:09Speaker 1: not experienced yet. So he doesn't realize that how Jordan
- 30:14Speaker 1: is playing him with the Hector decoy guy. I didn't
- 30:19Speaker 1: realize it either. When he's like, let his family die. Yeah.
- 30:22Speaker 1: And he's seeing how he reacted to Zoe's death.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:26Speaker 1: And then how he reacts. Because he's like, maybe he
- 30:27Speaker 1: just don't react. Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Right?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Like, you are kind of a, we've been friends for
- 30:31Speaker 1: a long time. I've never seen you lose your cool completely. Right.
- 30:35Speaker 1: But if we were just friends, and I'm like, oh,
- 30:36Speaker 1: he didn't trip about this at all. This is like
- 30:38Speaker 1: his girlfriend. He's kind of calm. Yeah. But then his parents,
- 30:41Speaker 1: he's like.
- 30:41Speaker 2: That's when he turned it up in the British accent.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Speak up!
- 30:45Speaker 2: That's when the British accent kicked in.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Bro, that British accent was like.
- 30:47Speaker 3: He came back again on the latest episode.
- 30:49Speaker 1: He came back last night.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Whenever he got the yelling anger, that British going British.
- 30:53Speaker 1: That British is like, I'm coming beans toast. God save
- 30:57Speaker 1: the king. There's nothing your training can do. Beans toast, man. Him,
- 31:03Speaker 1: Idris Elba, the dude who plays McNulty, that scream is
- 31:07Speaker 1: going to sell you out every time.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Every time, dog.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Speak up! It was so, he can't help it. Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 1: And he's not alone.
- 31:19Speaker 3: No. It be coming out, man.
- 31:23Speaker 1: That scream gonna sell you out.
- 31:25Speaker 2: When they yell, it be coming out.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Hold on, man. Hold tight, dog.
- 31:31Speaker 1: God save the king, yeah? Speak up! Oh, the F-U's
- 31:39Speaker 1: was big British. When he was cussing last night, I said.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Come on.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It was big British last night. Fuck you, bro.
- 31:47Speaker 3: I got the feed.
- 31:49Speaker 1: The feed.
- 31:50Speaker 2: He was in that burning car. They did him so dirty.
- 31:55Speaker 1: The Mad Hunter was like, no, I can't even blackmail
- 31:58Speaker 1: you good until you burn alive.
- 32:00Speaker 3: That's crazy, dog.
- 32:01Speaker 1: She kind of like phased through the car. Was like,
- 32:03Speaker 1: did she get out? Or did she just phase through
- 32:05Speaker 1: the car? He saw her. He's like, yo.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Get me out of here.
- 32:09Speaker 2: He had to cook, dog.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Bro, he was like a hot link. When he came
- 32:14Speaker 1: through all.
- 32:15Speaker 3: He was charred on the cookout. You know them cookout
- 32:18Speaker 3: dogs be cooked. He was perfect.
- 32:22Speaker 1: I said, oh, they threw him on the grill. You
- 32:24Speaker 1: just need a little straight line of mustard. He's ready
- 32:27Speaker 1: to go.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Full body grilling, dog.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Head to toe grilled up.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Meat scarred up. Everything.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Lips chapped.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Lips chapped. Bro, he got a new set. When they
- 32:39Speaker 1: took the bandage off, I said, oh, he was in
- 32:41Speaker 1: that makeup chair for 10 hours. He was cooked. He
- 32:44Speaker 1: was like, I can't feel anything. She was like, don't
- 32:46Speaker 1: you worry. Blood in your eye. Yeah. Just make sure
- 32:50Speaker 1: you protect me.
- 32:52Speaker 2: He protected her.
- 32:53Speaker 1: He shot her in the head after that. I got you, man.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Thanks for the new skin and the new lease on life.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Thank you for the coochie, new skin, new lease on life.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Don't know what I'd do without you.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Looked in here, had one tear. The coochie was the
- 33:17Speaker 1: best in all the galaxies. She had a smile going,
- 33:24Speaker 1: I ain't never had sex in a car like that, boy.
- 33:26Speaker 1: That coochie go crazy. Can you imagine having to kill
- 33:30Speaker 1: your best sex?
- 33:32Speaker 2: Best sex, man.
- 33:33Speaker 1: You had to murder alien coochie?
- 33:35Speaker 3: Man, that coochie was good.
- 33:36Speaker 1: You didn't even tell your boys, man. I had alien coochie, man.
- 33:39Speaker 3: And you know it's going to be like a slight
- 33:44Speaker 3: delay given the distance.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 33:51Speaker 3: He went over there quick. He had to run over there.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 33:55Speaker 3: He tore ass out of there after he won the fight.
- 34:00Speaker 3: He disappeared into the smoke. Barefoot.
- 34:04Speaker 1: She was all, Hal Jordan, you're going to die. I
- 34:08Speaker 1: don't know why he left you alive. Bait.
- 34:11Speaker 2: You're bait.
- 34:11Speaker 1: She was like, hold on. Me?
- 34:14Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Hal Jordan's all bloody. Yeah, I think you're bait. No.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I couldn't be bait.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Let me turn around and not even roll. Stop, drop,
- 34:24Speaker 3: and roll. Here I am, y'all. Who out there?
- 34:29Speaker 1: It was not me.
- 34:31Speaker 3: If you say I'm bait, I'm immediately going to stop, drop,
- 34:35Speaker 3: and roll. I'm not just going to turn around still
- 34:38Speaker 3: in my same location. Wait, I'm bait?
- 34:41Speaker 1: What do you mean? Let me walk out into the open. Now,
- 34:48Speaker 1: let me leave the room. and walk out into the open.
- 34:52Speaker 3: So I'm bait? What you mean? You can't tell me
- 35:04Speaker 3: I'm bait and I'ma just stand out in the open
- 35:06Speaker 3: like that. Wait, I'm bait?
- 35:09Speaker 2: I'm rolling all throughout that hotel. Y'all just panicking.
- 35:13Speaker 3: What are you doing? I'm staying active. I'm staying hard
- 35:17Speaker 3: to hit.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Oh, snap. That was so great, man. And I love, hey,
- 35:24Speaker 1: this dude, Jon Stewart went through his whole life wanting
- 35:28Speaker 1: to be the Green Lantern, trained his whole life. The
- 35:33Speaker 1: Guardians tell him to steal the ring. He's like, nah,
- 35:35Speaker 1: I'm not cool with that. I don't feel y'all. Had
- 35:38Speaker 1: to kill his best eater, took the ring off, turned
- 35:42Speaker 1: it into the librarian. He was like, man, I don't
- 35:45Speaker 1: want to work at this job. Yeah. Laura Linney was like.
- 35:48Speaker 3: What you talking about?
- 35:49Speaker 2: Fuck this job.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Fuck this job.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It ain't worth it, man.
- 35:56Speaker 1: This job sucks. I don't even think he liked the job.
- 35:59Speaker 3: You ever get a job you really wanted for a
- 36:02Speaker 3: long time, then you get in there, you just be like,
- 36:04Speaker 3: that would be at Best Buy.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Best Buy?
- 36:07Speaker 2: I wanted to work at Best Buy so bad.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Why?
- 36:10Speaker 3: Then when I got up in there, I was just like,
- 36:12Speaker 3: I put my ring on the cash register.
- 36:16Speaker 1: What was it about Best Buy that you didn't like?
- 36:18Speaker 3: I figured like, you know what I'm saying? Man, I
- 36:20Speaker 3: love movies and music, man. People are going to be
- 36:22Speaker 3: asking me questions. Where can I find this album? I
- 36:25Speaker 3: know exactly what you're talking about, man. Wyclef Jean right here.
- 36:29Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? And then when I first
- 36:31Speaker 3: started working there, they had me in digital imaging. So
- 36:35Speaker 3: I was in the camera department. I was just like, man,
- 36:38Speaker 3: you get this with the megapixels. And I kept looking
- 36:43Speaker 3: over there in the media departments where I wanted to be.
- 36:45Speaker 3: I'd be looking over the aisles like, man, I want
- 36:47Speaker 3: to be over there selling CDs.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I want to be where the CDs are. Yeah. Talking
- 36:52Speaker 1: to movies and video games only.
- 36:54Speaker 2: They got me over here talking cameras.
- 36:56Speaker 3: You know, the Polaroid.
- 36:57Speaker 2: That was dead inside.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I was like, man.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Can you imagine walking in and asking Tony Baker a
- 37:06Speaker 1: question and he don't want to be at that job? Man,
- 37:08Speaker 1: watch out, man. Polaroid.
- 37:10Speaker 3: So you're looking for cameras, huh? The fuck you taking
- 37:13Speaker 3: pictures of? All right, let's see, man. All right, so
- 37:17Speaker 3: we got the Panasonic.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Just look at it, look at it.
- 37:23Speaker 1: What it look like?
- 37:25Speaker 2: You like that? Well, then get it. If you like it, shit.
- 37:29Speaker 2: What's up with them? Oh, memory, huh?
- 37:32Speaker 3: You don't have a bunch of... Got the memory cards
- 37:34Speaker 3: over here.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You see people over at the media party laughing and stuff?
- 37:40Speaker 3: I love this movie. I'd be over there. I'd be
- 37:43Speaker 3: moonlighting in the media department. I'd be like, because some people.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Would roll up.
- 37:48Speaker 3: I was looking for this one.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Oh, oh. Yeah.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Looking for this one movie? Yeah, we got that. Just
- 37:52Speaker 3: came out on DVD.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Come over to the counter.
- 37:55Speaker 2: The media person walked. I got it from here. No, man,
- 37:57Speaker 2: watch out. You should have been around when they needed you.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Can we get Tony back to digital imaging, please? Tony
- 38:03Speaker 1: back to digital imaging. Oh, my God. I come over here, why?
- 38:10Speaker 3: You know, pretty soon all the cameras going to be
- 38:12Speaker 3: on the phone anyway. Just take pictures on your phone.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Let me go over here and help them find Baby
- 38:18Speaker 3: Boy on DVD.
- 38:19Speaker 1: That was me at Boy, man. When I got fired
- 38:23Speaker 1: from the bank, I was like, I'll never put my
- 38:25Speaker 1: family in this position again. I can't do this, man.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Liz Boyz. I let you down. I was
- 38:31Speaker 1: on unemployment, man. Let me get a job. I got
- 38:34Speaker 1: that boy in jail. I was like, yes, man. I'm
- 38:36Speaker 1: going to be a family man. I sat there on
- 38:37Speaker 1: the first day. I was like, but what about my dreams?
- 38:43Speaker 1: I can't do this all day. Y'all want me to
- 38:45Speaker 1: do airplane stuff?
- 38:47Speaker 2: You left a wing on the table. I'm out, y'all.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I remember I got written up because I was falling
- 38:54Speaker 1: asleep in the meeting. Oh, man. I was just like,
- 38:56Speaker 1: what's happening? I was like, it's just, man, it's my dreams.
- 38:59Speaker 3: You was falling asleep in the meeting. I couldn't take it.
- 39:02Speaker 1: You know what a Boeing meeting is like?
- 39:05Speaker 2: I can't imagine.
- 39:07Speaker 3: I'm going in there with a pillow and a blanket.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Oh, my God. At a job you don't want to be.
- 39:11Speaker 1: You're dreaming of moving to L.A. You're watching comedians on YouTube.
- 39:15Speaker 1: You get in a meeting. So we're going to have
- 39:17Speaker 1: a new set of 737 wings. We've got the max
- 39:20Speaker 1: drag net coming down on the max program. Now, what
- 39:24Speaker 1: we want to do now, we've got the on-time shipping.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So you make sure you enter the coordinates on your
- 39:29Speaker 1: flow chart. and if your wings come in two days late,
- 39:32Speaker 1: make sure you add two extra hours for the flowchart
- 39:34Speaker 1: to go in. That's going to come Thursday around 1600.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Make sure you change that to Friday around 1900. checking
- 39:42Speaker 1: in on this holiday season. I was just like, man,
- 39:45Speaker 1: Charlie Brown's mom. And these people were in the meeting.
- 39:50Speaker 1: So Tom, what do you think about the parts coming
- 39:52Speaker 1: in when you come in on 16 coordinates? Glad you
- 39:55Speaker 1: asked that, Sally. So if you come in 16 coordinates late,
- 39:59Speaker 1: that's going to delay about two, four hours. It's going
- 40:01Speaker 1: to ship and channel. And Champagne, Illinois is coming in
- 40:05Speaker 1: over through Italy.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Champagne, Illinois sucks.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I was like, what? Champaign, Illinois, man. What the hell
- 40:12Speaker 1: y'all talking about? I want to be a comedian. I
- 40:15Speaker 1: want to move to Los Angeles.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Oh, snap, boy. I'd have been a skeleton by the
- 40:21Speaker 3: time that meeting was over.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I would have been a corpse.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I was trying to write movies in the Boeing notebook.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I was in there listening. I was like, interior, house, day.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Kevin dreams of making it in Hollywood. Kevin, you got that? Yes.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Interior, meeting.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Kevin's bored out of his mind trying to make it
- 40:42Speaker 3: through to the next moment.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Oh, my God. This was like, Kevin, you can't lose
- 40:46Speaker 1: this job. I was like, I won't. I won't. I won't.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I won't be good. I won't be good. I'd rather
- 40:51Speaker 1: go into work. Man, I started my day at I
- 40:54Speaker 1: went in my desk at 4.45.
- 40:56Speaker 3: In the morning?
- 40:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Just so I could. I'm out. Because I was like,
- 40:59Speaker 1: nobody's going to come until like 7.38. I don't even
- 41:02Speaker 1: have to fake work until then. So once I come in,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I got to fake work. I got to fake Excel
- 41:07Speaker 1: spreadsheet up. And I got YouTube going with the privacy screen.
- 41:11Speaker 1: But those two and a half hours when I didn't
- 41:12Speaker 1: have to fake, oh, my God. I wanted to cry like, Liz, please.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Please.
- 41:19Speaker 1: This is when Lissa was selling weed for a little bit.
- 41:21Speaker 1: We were running selling.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Wait, what?
- 41:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Lissa had a weave selling business. She was selling.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Oh, weave. I thought you said weed.
- 41:29Speaker 1: No, no, no, weed.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, Lissa used to sell little weed. I was like, what? No, no,
- 41:33Speaker 1: she sold bundles for a little bit. Oh, gotcha. but
- 41:36Speaker 1: it's a tough business to crack. People will buy the
- 41:38Speaker 1: bundles and then just report the charges fraud every time.
- 41:43Speaker 1: We was just like, yo, we can't make, we gotta
- 41:47Speaker 1: stop the fraud. And they were like, eight bundles. I
- 41:50Speaker 1: was meeting women in the parking lot Best buys and fries.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Here's six bundles. All right, here's 800. There's a lot
- 41:58Speaker 1: of money in bundles, by the way.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Yeah, dang.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Like, we barely broke even. We had to get out
- 42:02Speaker 1: of the bundle business, man. Too many people replaced the charges.
- 42:05Speaker 1: It was crazy.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Y'all was at Boeing and doing the bundles.
- 42:08Speaker 1: We was selling bundles on the low. We was at
- 42:11Speaker 1: Boeing and bundles. That was the Kevin List story, Boeing
- 42:14Speaker 1: and bundles. I would deliver bundles in Renton on my
- 42:17Speaker 1: lunch break. I went, oh, yeah, we got a customer
- 42:20Speaker 1: in Seattle telling to meet me at the Target over in,
- 42:23Speaker 1: Target was okay, meet me at the Target in Renton
- 42:25Speaker 1: in the parking lot, 230, six bundles. All right, you
- 42:29Speaker 1: got the cash? Because we were going to cash only
- 42:31Speaker 1: because the debit card chargebacks, it was killing our business.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Cash only. Yeah, it was crazy.
- 42:37Speaker 2: That sounded like a drug dealer for sure.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Y'all was looking around.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Got the cash.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Serious.
- 42:44Speaker 2: No smiling, no customer. You got the cash. Lay it
- 42:48Speaker 2: down right there.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Your bundle's in that shopping cart in the Target.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Oh my God. But yeah, all right, let's go back
- 42:58Speaker 1: to Lanterns. So my question to you is this now, Tone.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Me and Josh were talking about this before you came.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Oh, y'all was talking before I got here.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Talking before you came. You were late. At the beginning,
- 43:09Speaker 1: he's got to finally actually back up. Hal Jordan is
- 43:13Speaker 1: dead in episode one in the present time. Yeah. But
- 43:16Speaker 1: we know that's 2026. Right. And we go back to 2016.
- 43:20Speaker 1: So something's wrong in Rushville. Hal Jordan's got to find
- 43:23Speaker 1: the alien first. Alien leads to the Manhunter. And the
- 43:28Speaker 1: whole thing is when is John going to get the
- 43:30Speaker 1: ring from Hal? Yeah. By the end of episode five.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Manhunter is dead. Anton is dispatched. He exploded. I don't
- 43:38Speaker 1: know if he died. He went into the thing, but
- 43:40Speaker 1: we know lanterns don't kill.
- 43:41Speaker 2: But he is out of... Something happened.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Something happened. Yeah. And John took the ring off of
- 43:47Speaker 1: Hal Jordan and turned it in.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Turned it in.
- 43:49Speaker 1: And now we have three episodes left. Me and List
- 43:51Speaker 1: were talking about it last night. I was like, I
- 43:53Speaker 1: don't even know what episode six can be. Yeah. Because what...
- 43:58Speaker 1: There's nothing else introduced.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Since they've been doing time jumps, it could be time
- 44:02Speaker 3: jump stuff. We could go into the now.
- 44:06Speaker 1: It could be time jump stuff. We could go into
- 44:08Speaker 1: the most current. Yep. Yep.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Him trying to figure out what happened. But do you
- 44:13Speaker 2: think they.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Would do that with just three episodes left to go?
- 44:16Speaker 2: Because there's going to be eight episodes for sure? I
- 44:18Speaker 2: looked it up.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Last night because I was like, it goes through October.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I was like, what?
- 44:23Speaker 2: They got nine episodes listed on IMDb.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Oh, do they? I looked them up. Oh.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Because it says, if you look at the two leads,
- 44:34Speaker 2: it says nine episodes.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Of John and Hal? Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Yeah, because I just looked and it said nine. I
- 44:42Speaker 2: was like, wait a minute.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Okay, yeah. My thing, when I looked up last night,
- 44:44Speaker 1: it said season finale's on October 4th. But I didn't
- 44:47Speaker 1: look on IMDb. Sometimes IMDb has.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Unless they're charging it to another season.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Season one. I mean, episode one of season two.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, because it says 27.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Because they were saying that Nicole Irie Parker was his mom.
- 45:00Speaker 1: And I was like, she hasn't been his mom when
- 45:02Speaker 1: I was looking it up. Nicole Irie Parker is Jasmine?
- 45:05Speaker 1: And Jasmine, I was like, that's not Nicole Irie Parker.
- 45:07Speaker 1: But when I was looking it up, it had that
- 45:09Speaker 1: a couple times. Oh, no. IMDb only has eight now, Tone.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Oh, did they change it?
- 45:13Speaker 3: Because look.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Oh, season two. I see. I didn't see that. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay.
- 45:21Speaker 2: So they already got renewed.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Oh, even if they didn't, I feel like they have to.
- 45:32Speaker 1: They have to get renewed for season two. Oh.
- 45:35Speaker 3: Well, I don't know, man.
- 45:36Speaker 2: I don't trust these.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Now, that's true.
- 45:40Speaker 2: But it's good to see that on IMDb, it looks
- 45:42Speaker 2: like the renewal is official.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:44Speaker 2: If they already bleeding into 2027.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Because I know, and this probably saved James Gunn a
- 45:54Speaker 3: little bit over there.
- 45:56Speaker 1: When did he take over?
- 45:57Speaker 3: He took over. Superman was his first.
- 46:01Speaker 1: David Cornswain.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Superman, and he was doing the Peacemaker as well, I believe.
- 46:04Speaker 1: So I heard Peacemaker.
- 46:05Speaker 3: No, he came in with the Suicide Squad redo. Then
- 46:11Speaker 3: they promoted him. He did the redo with Idris Elba
- 46:14Speaker 3: and Pete Davidson was in it.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Was he the helm of DC?
- 46:17Speaker 2: I don't know if he was the helm.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Or he was directing that.
- 46:19Speaker 2: He directed it for sure. And then I think they
- 46:21Speaker 2: promoted him.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Because they were like, we need our Kevin Feige for DC.
- 46:26Speaker 2: And since you did so good with Guardians, it was like,
- 46:29Speaker 2: come on over here.
- 46:29Speaker 1: But it's tough to do TV and movies.
- 46:32Speaker 3: And also, I feel like this is a good save
- 46:36Speaker 3: for him because Supergirl was a horrible disaster.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Box office wise. Did you like the movie though?
- 46:41Speaker 3: It's not as bad as the box office is making
- 46:44Speaker 3: it out to be.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:46Speaker 2: It was just cool. You know what I'm saying?
- 46:48Speaker 1: There's just no urgency to go to sleep.
- 46:50Speaker 3: I just gave it three out of five, but it's
- 46:52Speaker 3: not terrible.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't hear people say they hated it. Yeah.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Most people were just like, I don't really care about it.
- 46:58Speaker 1: It was more like apathy, which is bad. Right. So
- 47:01Speaker 1: people just weren't even pulling out. I just don't care.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Who's it? Millie Alcock? Yeah. Millie Alcock was great as Daenerys.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I mean, not Daenerys Targaryen.
- 47:12Speaker 2: She was House of Dragons.
- 47:13Speaker 1: She was House of Dragons girl, Rhaenyra.
- 47:15Speaker 2: The young version.
- 47:16Speaker 1: She was young Rhaenyra in season one. She was good
- 47:18Speaker 1: in it.
- 47:19Speaker 2: She's solid in this. It's just we didn't want her.
- 47:23Speaker 1: They just did Superman. Yeah. Like if you're going to
- 47:26Speaker 1: give Supergirl a chance, it got to be in between
- 47:30Speaker 1: some time on a Superman movie.
- 47:31Speaker 2: She should have been in Superman more.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Yes.
- 47:35Speaker 3: To justify we're going right into Supergirl full length.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. Yeah, and this is a good point. Somebody
- 47:41Speaker 1: on Patreon said, 313flygirl says, I didn't really hear anyone
- 47:44Speaker 1: say they saw Supergirl. Yeah, Supergirl.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I saw it opening weekend. It's not bad, though. It's
- 47:50Speaker 2: better than.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Wonder Woman 2. Is it like a plane movie? Huh?
- 47:52Speaker 1: Is it like a plane movie?
- 47:53Speaker 3: Yeah, watch it on the plane.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Watch it. You know what I'm saying?
- 47:56Speaker 1: It's... You know what I mean? On a plane, you'd
- 47:59Speaker 1: be like.
- 47:59Speaker 3: On a plane, you're at the mercy.
- 48:00Speaker 1: On a plane, you're like, this is. If there's a
- 48:02Speaker 1: hint of interest. Yeah. For sure.
- 48:05Speaker 2: You're at the mercy of the plane ride.
- 48:07Speaker 1: It's either that or look out the window.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Exactly. So you go, man, let me cue this.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Or on your phone.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 1: But I've seen it, and I just be like, I
- 48:15Speaker 1: ain't clicked on, and I'm at home, and I'm just like.
- 48:19Speaker 3: There's literally no urgency to watch it.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Nobody's been like, nah. Obsession was like, Kev, why haven't
- 48:26Speaker 1: you seen Obsession? 17 random people were like, yo, have
- 48:30Speaker 1: you seen Obsession? I'm like, okay, I'm tripping.
- 48:32Speaker 2: That's the talk of the town.
- 48:33Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Even Hail Mary. I've heard
- 48:36Speaker 1: a lot of people online like, yo, Hail Mary was
- 48:38Speaker 1: surprisingly good. Yeah, I still ain't seen it, but I'm
- 48:41Speaker 1: more inclined to click play on that.
- 48:43Speaker 2: It's a good time.
- 48:44Speaker 1: But Lanterns was like that. I didn't watch it at first,
- 48:47Speaker 1: but everybody was like, yo, this is... I watched it
- 48:50Speaker 1: like the second day, but that first day, people were like, yo,
- 48:53Speaker 1: this is good. Also, I think I missed Rebel Ridge.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And I missed, I purposely didn't watch the live action
- 49:01Speaker 1: Lion King. I just had no interest.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I haven't seen it either.
- 49:04Speaker 1: So this is my actual first time watching something with
- 49:06Speaker 1: Aaron Pierre.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Oh, this is your Aaron Pierre debut.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Debut, and he's crushing.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he's great as John Cena.
- 49:13Speaker 1: He is crushing. There's a little bit of negativity about
- 49:16Speaker 1: the British person taking over the, because it's such a,
- 49:20Speaker 1: very american black story yeah that accent slip out is
- 49:24Speaker 1: bothering a lot of people they're saying that should have
- 49:26Speaker 1: went to a black person he's black i'm gonna oh
- 49:29Speaker 1: yeah oh i'm sorry correct a black american yeah i'm
- 49:34Speaker 1: gonna allow the slippage Because he is murdering this world.
- 49:37Speaker 1: He's doing great, man.
- 49:38Speaker 3: I don't really get into the whole British blacks type stuff.
- 49:43Speaker 2: I don't either. I just want the actors to act.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I just want black people to win.
- 49:48Speaker 2: I don't really differentiate.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Between black people in America or Great Britain.
- 49:53Speaker 2: If they talk shit about Americans, then I'll be like.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Oh, no. Now, that's different.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's different.
- 49:57Speaker 3: But if they just out here, just British and talented
- 50:00Speaker 3: and delivering.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Hey, man, it's hard for them. There's even less. BBC
- 50:04Speaker 1: be over there giving you two-episode season. Right. Luther be
- 50:08Speaker 1: three episodes.
- 50:09Speaker 2: The next season of Luther, one and a half episodes.
- 50:11Speaker 1: What is going on with the BBC, man? We complaining
- 50:14Speaker 1: about eight. One Luther season was two episodes. Season three
- 50:19Speaker 1: starts Thursday, ends Thursday. Season three be no episodes. Did
- 50:25Speaker 1: you catch season three? It's just credits. We'll be back
- 50:28Speaker 1: for season four. Like, what the hell y'all talking about?
- 50:35Speaker 3: I just be one of them. I want to see
- 50:38Speaker 3: black faces on the screens.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Yes.
- 50:40Speaker 2: And I want them to perform well. That's it.
- 50:42Speaker 1: That's what I draw. I'm for the advancement of all
- 50:45Speaker 1: black people. Yeah. Now, I would love to go over
- 50:48Speaker 1: there and steal their jobs. But I can't do that.
- 50:50Speaker 2: I can't. I can't go over there and do an accent.
- 50:52Speaker 1: I can't steal. I can't. My spit hop. When the fiends.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Denzel is one of the best actors to ever do it.
- 50:58Speaker 3: He can't do a British accent. So you got to
- 51:02Speaker 3: give it up for these British cats that can come
- 51:04Speaker 3: over here and just do us and do us well.
- 51:08Speaker 3: God damn it. Shut the hell up, man. And a
- 51:12Speaker 3: lot of them British people blacker than your ass. If
- 51:15Speaker 3: they do an ancestry.com, they're going to come back 99%
- 51:20Speaker 3: African soil.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Baby.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Then you blackity black niggas will do your ancestry. You
- 51:26Speaker 3: a whole 70%. Rest of your stuff is, oh, 27% European.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Look at you now.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Blackity black, niggas. Told you, quarter German over here.
- 51:37Speaker 3: I'm big, but I don't deny what I am.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he's Kaiserslautern, Sauerkraut, and Heinz Hagen. He was in
- 51:45Speaker 1: Germany feeling at home when we was over there selling
- 51:48Speaker 1: 11 tickets.
- 51:48Speaker 2: My son blacker than me, though.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Is he?
- 51:51Speaker 2: On the ancestry, for sure. He 80-something percent.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he's getting that German out of there.
- 51:56Speaker 3: The German is getting up out of him because, you know,
- 51:59Speaker 3: black dad, black mom.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Man, let's get this European shit up out of CeCe.
- 52:03Speaker 1: His mom is like, man, I'll take care of this.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Let me get your full black going.
- 52:08Speaker 2: CeCe, black it'd be tough on the percentage. I'm like, hey, man.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Big black.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Big black. But now I'm really excited about both this.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I feel like... J. Alphonse, we need to see this
- 52:25Speaker 1: movie when it comes out.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Which one?
- 52:27Speaker 1: If I Go, Will They Miss Me?
- 52:29Speaker 2: What that is?
- 52:30Speaker 1: This is J. Alphonse Nicholson and Danielle Brooks. J. Alphonse
- 52:34Speaker 1: is his dad.
- 52:35Speaker 2: He plays his dad.
- 52:35Speaker 1: He plays the dad. Okay. He's also in P-Valley, which
- 52:39Speaker 1: their third season's going.
- 52:40Speaker 2: I've never seen P-Valley.
- 52:41Speaker 1: I watched episode one. Brandi Evans is a friend of
- 52:47Speaker 1: the family. Titties were out. turned it off.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Wait, whose titties was that?
- 52:51Speaker 1: Brandi Evans. She's a stripper.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Oh, gotcha.
- 52:54Speaker 1: I knew her prior. Yeah. Couldn't, I couldn't do the titties.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Oh, gotcha, gotcha.
- 52:59Speaker 1: I don't know what it was. I felt wildly uncomfortable
- 53:02Speaker 1: knowing somebody. Yeah. I was just like, I can't do that. Yeah.
- 53:06Speaker 1: I just felt, it'd be like, that's my homegirl though.
- 53:10Speaker 1: She was like, I'm at work. And I was just like, yeah.
- 53:13Speaker 3: I can be your deepest friend and just watch the nudity.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Could you? Yeah. If I was nude in a movie?
- 53:20Speaker 2: I would just watch it.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Let's say you was in an Any Given Sunday type scene.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 53:24Speaker 3: And you in there, your whole sack is out. I'd
- 53:26Speaker 3: be like, I can't. The whole dick is out, y'all.
- 53:29Speaker 3: And I would just continue watching.
- 53:31Speaker 1: If I saw your meat, I'd be like, I'm sorry, Tony.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I hope you win an Oscar or an Emmy. Cannot
- 53:36Speaker 1: take Tony's dick. If I had to see your meat,
- 53:40Speaker 1: the movie, the TV show is over, bro. And I
- 53:44Speaker 1: love you. It's wild. There's a mental block. I'd be like,
- 53:49Speaker 1: that's Tony's meat, though, y'all. I can't. That's wild. And
- 53:53Speaker 1: I feel like you would take a sex scene.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Sex scene would tear me in half.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Couldn't do it. I could do it.
- 54:01Speaker 3: But the crazy part is I would rather do a
- 54:03Speaker 3: sex scene than just a makeout scene.
- 54:06Speaker 1: I don't want to do anything.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but I remember I did this web series. I
- 54:11Speaker 3: was trying to get out of that sex scene. I
- 54:14Speaker 3: was like, this is sex scene. Can we just write it?
- 54:16Speaker 3: Can y'all just change the script? I was trying to
- 54:18Speaker 3: get them to change the script. They was like, that's
- 54:21Speaker 3: the whole point of the joke. You're having sex.
- 54:23Speaker 1: With a girl.
- 54:24Speaker 3: You're cheating on your girl. You throw the girl in
- 54:26Speaker 3: the closet. And then you have sex with your main girl.
- 54:28Speaker 3: I was like, can we just... Well, maybe we were
- 54:31Speaker 3: already done, and then, you know.
- 54:34Speaker 1: And they said, nah?
- 54:35Speaker 2: They was like, nah, you know what I'm saying?
- 54:36Speaker 1: You did the sex scene?
- 54:37Speaker 2: I did the sex scene.
- 54:38Speaker 1: Wait, how did they do it?
- 54:40Speaker 3: So it was just like she was on top of me,
- 54:42Speaker 3: so we just in the bed.
- 54:43Speaker 1: But you had the ball cover?
- 54:46Speaker 3: We really didn't. It really wasn't required to do all
- 54:49Speaker 3: of that because it was just like, it was one
- 54:53Speaker 3: of them dress sex scenes where, you know, there's cover here.
- 54:57Speaker 3: I still had a wife beater on. She still had
- 54:59Speaker 3: a shirt on. So it was pretty much just this.
- 55:02Speaker 1: So was she like sitting on your stomach or was
- 55:04Speaker 1: it privates to privates?
- 55:06Speaker 3: Was it privates to privates?
- 55:08Speaker 2: It might have been privates, but I had on just
- 55:10Speaker 2: regular shorts.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but your meat don't know it's a scene.
- 55:13Speaker 2: My meat didn't move, though. My meat knew it was business.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Your meat knew?
- 55:17Speaker 3: Yeah, my meat knew.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Your meat new.
- 55:19Speaker 2: My meat new. My meat new is like, all right,
- 55:21Speaker 2: all business.
- 55:21Speaker 1: That's great.
- 55:22Speaker 2: And I was making sure, yeah. Because I was so
- 55:24Speaker 2: uncomfortable anyway, my meat is not going to activate.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Oh, your meat's like, no, I'm with Tone. Yeah. I'm out.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Tone is stressed. If I'm stressed mentally, it ain't going.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:37Speaker 2: It ain't going.
- 55:37Speaker 1: That actually would be helpful. Yeah. Because getting hard is like, man,
- 55:41Speaker 1: I wouldn't. There's a scene on Entourage. I was re-watching that.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And he got hard with Brooklyn. She cut the scene cut.
- 55:50Speaker 1: He's hard. The director was like, what? He was like,
- 55:52Speaker 1: he's hard. And Johnny Jarvis was like, sorry. Sorry. And
- 55:57Speaker 1: I liked it. And it was just a hug. Yeah.
- 55:59Speaker 1: He was just like, I'm hard. But listen, man, I don't...
- 56:04Speaker 1: I could not... Nudity, my body, my.
- 56:09Speaker 3: But you always take your shirt off.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Shirt and balls is different.
- 56:13Speaker 3: I mean, it is different, but it's just another layer.
- 56:16Speaker 3: I can't even take my shirt off.
- 56:17Speaker 1: I don't know how they get dressed with the... The
- 56:19Speaker 1: crew is there. Yeah. And I know they go, like,
- 56:21Speaker 1: minimal crew for the sex scenes, and they kind of, like,
- 56:23Speaker 1: turn them... It's, like, less people. When I did the
- 56:25Speaker 1: little kissing scene in Churchy, we had... Just the camera
- 56:32Speaker 1: in there. Yeah. But then everybody's watching on the monitor.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Kissing is what drives me crazy more than the sex.
- 56:39Speaker 3: I'd rather do just a straight sex scene than the kissing.
- 56:42Speaker 3: What the hell? Than the deep make-outs.
- 56:44Speaker 1: What you mean? Why is that worse?
- 56:46Speaker 3: I don't like kissing in front of people in real life.
- 56:49Speaker 3: But I have full sex with somebody watching.
- 56:55Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 56:56Speaker 3: It don't make zero sense, bro.
- 56:58Speaker 1: You have full sex?
- 57:01Speaker 3: If somebody watching and they in the window, we know
- 57:05Speaker 3: they in the window.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Looking at us, I'm going to just keep going. I'll
- 57:07Speaker 2: be like, yeah, they watching.
- 57:11Speaker 3: But the kiss in front of just people just randomly,
- 57:13Speaker 3: I don't care if it's a smooch. I'll be like,
- 57:15Speaker 3: they looking. They saw.
- 57:19Speaker 1: It's stupid, man. Did you see Keith Lee and Ronnie,
- 57:21Speaker 1: their kiss go viral? I saw that, yeah.
- 57:25Speaker 3: For me, even though I'm cool with Keith, you know,
- 57:28Speaker 3: we not that cool. When I saw them doing that,
- 57:29Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, get it how you live. I
- 57:31Speaker 3: ain't look at them no other kind of way.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Me kissing Melissa, I would disintegrate if me kissing went viral.
- 57:39Speaker 3: If you and Melissa did that, I'd be like, ha, ha, yeah.
- 57:44Speaker 3: I would double tap.
- 57:45Speaker 2: I'd see y'all in the comments.
- 57:47Speaker 1: You wouldn't put us on a pedestal, though.
- 57:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't put y'all on a pedestal.
- 57:50Speaker 1: I'm trying to get on a pedestal with Tone, man.
- 57:52Speaker 1: I've been petitioning for me. Listen, get on the pedestal.
- 57:55Speaker 1: He tweeted, or he put on threads. I don't put
- 57:57Speaker 1: nobody on a pedestal. I sent him a picture. Come on, Tone.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Put us up on the pedestal.
- 58:03Speaker 2: That was mad funny.
- 58:05Speaker 1: And we were smiling in the picture. It's like, yeah,
- 58:07Speaker 1: I love you, man.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Y'all are closest to a pedestal of any couple.
- 58:14Speaker 1: Actually, don't put us on a pedestal.
- 58:15Speaker 3: But I don't want to put y'all up there, but
- 58:17Speaker 3: if I had to, Tony, you got to put somebody
- 58:19Speaker 3: on a pedestal.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I was like, Kevin Lewis. Yeah, we actually, in our book,
- 58:23Speaker 1: was like, don't put us on a pedestal. Yeah. Because
- 58:25Speaker 1: we be going through. Right. We have a great relationship,
- 58:29Speaker 1: but like, mind your, like, it's also social media.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:35Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And now that we don't
- 58:37Speaker 1: do the Love Hour, man, we was putting our business
- 58:39Speaker 1: out there. Yeah. And I think about how many things
- 58:42Speaker 1: that we would have covered on the Love Hour that
- 58:44Speaker 1: we haven't and don't. Yeah. People don't even notice how
- 58:47Speaker 1: much I pulled back on stuff.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Because it's like I've become more and more protective of that.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Because the more stuff I say that goes viral, the
- 58:55Speaker 1: more I'm just like, all right... The less y'all know,
- 58:57Speaker 1: the better. Yes. I'll do it. I saw a million.
- 59:00Speaker 1: I saw this on the internet. But my actual life
- 59:03Speaker 1: is like, Joe going to college is, who cares about that?
- 59:07Speaker 1: Seeing Isaiah in the street. But like real life, family stuff.
- 59:11Speaker 1: No way. I might do it on the Patreon, but
- 59:14Speaker 1: for the most part, I only tell my friends. This stuff,
- 59:16Speaker 1: I don't even, that's happened since the Love Hour, I
- 59:18Speaker 1: don't even cover it at all. I'll tell you and
- 59:20Speaker 1: Josh and Angel and Tab, but like, podcast topics? Yeah. Nah, man. Yeah, man.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Because people be entitled to your little relationship business.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:31Speaker 3: That's why I'm.
- 59:32Speaker 2: Like, with this new relationship, tuck in. You got to
- 59:36Speaker 2: catch me in the wild.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Tony will be married for 11 years.
- 59:37Speaker 2: You got to catch me in the wild.
- 59:38Speaker 1: For sure. Would you post your wedding? I don't want to.
- 59:43Speaker 1: I don't blame you.
- 59:44Speaker 3: I'll be like, I got married last week, y'all. Anyway,
- 59:48Speaker 3: box office nerd here. Spider-Man 7 made $ 80 million on
- 59:54Speaker 3: a Wednesday opening.
- 59:54Speaker 1: I get it, because your last relationship, man, people was
- 59:57Speaker 1: taking it too far.
- 59:58Speaker 3: They kept messing with Sabrina all the time.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Too far. It was too overly familiar. Yes. And Sabrina,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: good people.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Good people. When they was just coming at her, I
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: ain't like her. I was like, they don't come at
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: me like that.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: No.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: She'd be like, can I say something? And she'd be like, no, I.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Don't say nothing. Yeah. And there doesn't have to be
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: a villain for it to be a breakup. Right. It
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: doesn't have to be cheating. Yeah. It's just weird. Sabrina's
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: still fun. And her content creator, I'd be watching her.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: And then if you're still cool with your ex, people
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: got a problem with that. Well, I'd say, let's get
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: back together then. Shut the hell up. How about that?
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: How about that? You don't have to hate your ex.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: You don't have to.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: People just can't fathom that.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: If you're in a good adult relationship, you can break
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: up and it'd be fine. Right. And we're breaking up
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: with you. This episode is over.
