Speaker 1: Good Friday morning. Nice to have you with us on
• 0:28
Speaker 1: the forty seven Morning Update. And we've got one big
• 0:30
Speaker 1: story coming out of the White House this morning, and
• 0:33
Speaker 1: that's this President Donald Trump announcing from the White House
• 0:37
Speaker 1: that he is signing an emergency order to pay TSA
• 0:41
Speaker 1: agents immediately. This comes amid a forty one day shutdown
• 0:46
Speaker 1: affecting funding for the Department of Homeland Security. All the
• 0:50
Speaker 1: details I've got for you next, but before we get
• 0:53
Speaker 1: to that, I want to take a moment and ask
• 0:55
Speaker 1: you to help the people in Israel. With my friends
• 0:58
Speaker 1: at the IFCJ working right now on the ground for
• 1:02
Speaker 1: all those in need. A sacred season is approaching Passover
• 1:07
Speaker 1: when we remember God's deliverance, the night he brought his
• 1:10
Speaker 1: people out of bondage and into freedom. This year, many
• 1:14
Speaker 1: of God's people will observe in darkness under the shadow
• 1:17
Speaker 1: of war. Across Israel. Red alert sirens pierced the air,
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Families run to shelters with seconds to spare, elderly men
• 1:26
Speaker 1: and women fear they'll be left behind, and parents are
• 1:30
Speaker 1: comforting their frightened children as explosions shake the night. Sleeplessness
• 1:35
Speaker 1: and uncertainty have become daily life in Israel, and Passover
• 1:40
Speaker 1: reminds us that God hears the cries of his people
• 1:43
Speaker 1: and answers with love and compassion. And that's why the
• 1:47
Speaker 1: International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is on the ground
• 1:51
Speaker 1: in Israel right now. They're providing food and emergency supplies,
• 1:55
Speaker 1: equipping bomb shelters, and caring for elderly Holocaust survivors. Just
• 2:01
Speaker 1: as is people once cried out for deliverance. Vulnerable Israelis
• 2:05
Speaker 1: need your help today with your generous Passover gift. It
• 2:09
Speaker 1: shows you stand with God's people, And if you were
• 2:13
Speaker 1: ready to stand with the people of Israel, then stand
• 2:15
Speaker 1: with the IFCJ and help. You can call them eight
• 2:19
Speaker 1: eight eight for eight eight IFCJ that's eight eight eight
• 2:25
Speaker 1: for eight eight IFCJ to rush your gift right now,
• 2:29
Speaker 1: or you can give online at IFCJ dot org. That's
• 2:34
Speaker 1: if CJ dot org. It's the forty seven Morning Update
• 2:38
Speaker 1: and it starts right now.
• 2:40
  Speaker 5: Story number one.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: President Donald Trump declares an emergency to pay TSA agents
• 2:46
Speaker 1: at airports as chaos is continuing to grip America. In
• 2:52
Speaker 1: my hometown, the lines were over four hours long, forcing me,
• 2:57
Speaker 1: as I'm doing this show right now, to drive out
• 3:00
Speaker 1: of town to a meeting instead of flying. That's how
• 3:03
Speaker 1: bad it really is. And I'm not the only one
• 3:05
Speaker 1: that's frustrated by this President's angry, and so is the
• 3:09
Speaker 1: Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. I've never seen in
• 3:13
Speaker 1: this mad in public, red face and even banging his fists,
• 3:18
Speaker 1: banging his fists on the lectern.
• 3:20
Speaker 3: Is willing to fund all of the security and safety
• 3:23
Speaker 3: of the American people. We cannot believe it's come to that,
• 3:26
Speaker 3: but it has the Senate.
• 3:28
Speaker 2: Will you put it on the.
• 3:28
Speaker 3: Floor, We'll have to see. We have to solve the problem,
• 3:31
Speaker 3: and it's very sad that Democrats are not interested in
• 3:34
  Speaker 3: doing that.
• 3:34
Speaker 1: Yet, it does that mean that you're not in favor
• 3:36
Speaker 1: of breaking the DHS funding bill apart just funding TSA,
• 3:39
Speaker 1: just funding FEMA, having individual votes on this sec.
• 3:42
Speaker 3: We have never been in favor of breaking the bill
• 3:44
Speaker 3: up wide because it's one of the twelve separate appropriations bills.
• 3:48
Speaker 3: That is the most basic function of Congress to fund
• 3:51
Speaker 3: the government. And we did it in a by partisan
• 3:53
Speaker 3: by campberal Men. Remember the contents of that bill were
• 3:57
Speaker 3: decided upon earlier by Democrats until they decided to hold
• 4:01
Speaker 3: the American people hostage in their long lines at the
• 4:04
Speaker 3: airports and with the safety of everybody on the line,
• 4:07
Speaker 3: to make a political point. It is shameful. There is
• 4:10
Speaker 3: no way for them to defend this to the American people,
• 4:12
Speaker 3: and breaking it out is a I think it puts
• 4:16
Speaker 3: an exclamation point on what they've tried to do here.
• 4:18
Speaker 3: It's shameful. So many people have been through so many
• 4:21
Speaker 3: hardships because of this nonsense, and what we're concerned about
• 4:24
Speaker 3: is people may actually be hurt, more people harmed by criminal,
• 4:28
Speaker 3: illegal aliens that are being protected by the Democrat Party
• 4:32
  Speaker 3: and we're sick.
• 4:32
Speaker 1: Of and we're sick of it now. The President has
• 4:36
Speaker 1: also had enough, and that is what made the present
• 4:39
Speaker 1: step in and he did something that immediately grabbed headlines
• 4:43
Speaker 1: across the country, declaring the situation at America's airports a
• 4:48
Speaker 1: national emergency and announcing that he will sign an order
• 4:53
Speaker 1: to ensure that TSA agents get paid. Think about how
• 4:58
Speaker 1: serious that actually is. It is we are now to
• 5:01
Speaker 1: point where the President of the United States of America
• 5:03
Speaker 1: is saying Congress has failed. The system is literally broken,
• 5:08
Speaker 1: and I'm stepping in to fix it because it is
• 5:12
Speaker 1: now a national emergency. Now, all of this stems from
• 5:16
Speaker 1: the prolonged funding standoff in Washington, DC over the Department
• 5:20
Speaker 1: of Homeland Security, as you heard Speaker Johnson say a
• 5:23
Speaker 1: moment ago. For weeks now, lawmakers have been locked in
• 5:27
Speaker 1: that political battle, holding America hostage. The Democratic leadership all
• 5:32
Speaker 1: of this around them, hating ICE agents and wanting to
• 5:35
Speaker 1: defund ice. The President saying this at the White House
• 5:40
Speaker 1: as the reports started to break that he decided to
• 5:43
Speaker 1: take matters into his own hands to save the country
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: yet again.
• 5:47
Speaker 2: As the DHS shut down drags on, some Senate Republicans
• 5:51
Speaker 2: are now reportedly asking the White House to declare a
• 5:54
Speaker 2: national emergency to free up money and pay TSA workers
• 5:58
Speaker 2: ahead of the Spring break travel seats.
• 6:00
Speaker 5: Were now on day forty one of the disgraceful Democrats
• 6:03
Speaker 5: shutdown of Mark Wayne's department. Congratulations became into a department of.
• 6:10
Speaker 2: The shutdown, and there's no movement in sight.
• 6:12
Speaker 4: Look, we are not going to fund iuce. I just
• 6:15
Speaker 4: want to be clear on this. Until we get some
• 6:18
Speaker 4: restrictions in place. That's just a hard no for.
• 6:21
Speaker 2: Us, even as TSA says airport wait times are now
• 6:24
Speaker 2: the longest in agency history.
• 6:26
Speaker 4: Today in Houston, frustrating, Right, you show up five hours early,
• 6:30
Speaker 4: you think you're there, and you go down to the basement,
• 6:33
Speaker 4: work your way around baggage you claim to come up to,
• 6:35
Speaker 4: then go outside and sweat to come back inside to
• 6:38
  Speaker 4: see more lines.
• 6:39
Speaker 2: So far, nearly five hundred TSA officers have quit because
• 6:42
Speaker 2: of unreliable pay. As new Fox polls show nearly a
• 6:45
Speaker 2: third of Americans twenty seven percent are living paycheck to paycheck.
• 6:49
Speaker 2: President Trump says Americans are mad at Congressional Democrats. Well,
• 6:53
Speaker 2: I show it today on one of the shows when
• 6:55
Speaker 2: they were interviewing people at the airport and they're actually
• 6:58
  Speaker 2: hangry a tumor.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: Now the president's saying he's signing this executive order to
• 7:01
Speaker 1: address the airport disruptions, announcing the move in a statement
• 7:05
Speaker 1: on True Social framing the situation as nothing more than
• 7:09
Speaker 1: a basic major national emergency quote. Because the Democrats have
• 7:16
Speaker 1: recklessly created a true national crisis. I am using my
• 7:20
Speaker 1: authorities under the law to protect our great country. Therefore,
• 7:24
Speaker 1: I'm going to sign an order to immediately pay our
• 7:26
Speaker 1: TSA agents in order to address the emergency situation. The
• 7:31
Speaker 1: White House said, funding from legislation back by Trump will
• 7:35
Speaker 1: be used to ensure TSA officers are paid during the disruption.
• 7:40
Speaker 1: Quote not unlike actions taken during the first Democratic shutdown,
• 7:44
Speaker 1: i e. Payments to troops. President Trump is determined that
• 7:47
Speaker 1: Congressional Democrats have created an emergency situation that cannot be
• 7:52
Speaker 1: allowed to continue. Is what the White House Office of
• 7:54
Speaker 1: Management and Budget Communications director said in a statement to
• 7:58
Speaker 1: Fox News Homeecurity Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen, praising the move,
• 8:03
Speaker 1: writing on ACTS that he wants to thank President Trump
• 8:06
Speaker 1: for his leadership in finding a way to pay our
• 8:09
Speaker 1: TSA officers to end this chaos at our airports. These
• 8:15
Speaker 1: hour long lines and thousands of Americans missing their flights
• 8:19
Speaker 1: was all caused solely by the Democrats. Reckless DHS shutdown,
• 8:24
Speaker 1: Mullen added, calling on Democrats to stop playing political games
• 8:28
Speaker 1: with our national security and reopen the department.
• 8:32
  Speaker 4: Now.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: This move comes as day forty one of this partial
• 8:36
Speaker 1: government shutdown has disrupted the Transportation Security Administration, causing long
• 8:41
Speaker 1: lines at airports nationwide. I'm then a standoff over DHS
• 8:46
Speaker 1: funding and also the issue of immigration enforcement. President Trump
• 8:51
Speaker 1: accusing Democrats of refusing to fund immigration enforcement and creating
• 8:56
Speaker 1: the chaos on purpose as revenge, which is exactly what
• 9:00
Speaker 1: we are witnessing from Democrats. They're saying, we don't want
• 9:04
Speaker 1: any of these TSA agents there, and we don't want
• 9:07
Speaker 1: ICE agents at all, And while the Democrats hold us hostage,
• 9:12
Speaker 1: this is what's actually been happening in the real world.
• 9:16
Speaker 1: Tens of thousands of TSA agents, the people responsible for
• 9:20
Speaker 1: securing our airports. They have been working now without paychecks
• 9:24
Speaker 1: for more than forty one days. Many of them have
• 9:27
Speaker 1: been forced to call in sick, hundreds and hundreds have
• 9:31
Speaker 1: quit all together, and across the country. Americans are now
• 9:35
Speaker 1: feeling the pain that was all created by the Democrats.
• 9:40
Speaker 1: The long lines, the missing fights, the security delays are
• 9:44
Speaker 1: literally unlike anything we've ever seen in the history of
• 9:48
Speaker 1: this country. At our airports and at some airports today,
• 9:52
Speaker 1: wait times had surged to record levels. And that's not
• 9:56
Speaker 1: just an inconvenience. The President now says, it's an national
• 10:00
Speaker 1: security concern because when airport security is stretched thin, when
• 10:05
Speaker 1: staffing drops, when morale collapses, that's when vulnerabilities start to emerge.
• 10:10
Speaker 1: And that's exactly what prompted President Trump to act, The
• 10:13
Speaker 1: White House said in his statement, he made it clear
• 10:17
Speaker 1: he believes this crisis was created because of political gridlock
• 10:21
Speaker 1: in DC, and he had no other choice but to
• 10:25
Speaker 1: use what he says are his legal authorities to step
• 10:28
Speaker 1: in and restore the order. He also directed the Security
• 10:32
Speaker 1: of Homeland Security to quote immediately pay the TSA agents,
• 10:36
Speaker 1: meaning no delay, bypassing Congress in the process. Now, let's
• 10:42
Speaker 1: be clear, this is not a typical move. Normally Congress
• 10:47
Speaker 1: controls the purse strings. Funding federal workers without congressional approval
• 10:51
Speaker 1: is highly unusual, and Democrats more than likely are going
• 10:55
Speaker 1: to sue. They're going to claim it raises serious legal questions,
• 10:59
Speaker 1: and they're not just going to want to debate it,
• 11:02
Speaker 1: They're going to want to debate it in court. But
• 11:04
Speaker 1: from President Trump's perspective, the argument seems to be simple.
• 11:09
Speaker 1: These making to the American people, when national security is
• 11:12
Speaker 1: at risk, actions cannot wait. And that's the framing that
• 11:16
Speaker 1: you're going to hear more and more in the days
• 11:18
Speaker 1: to come. Now many Americans are going to support the move.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: Polling says that's exactly what leadership looks like, stepping in
• 11:26
Speaker 1: when Washington fails. The majority of Americans are in favor
• 11:29
Speaker 1: of that, and making sure critical workers are paid and
• 11:33
Speaker 1: preventing further breakdowns in airport security. The majority of Americans
• 11:38
Speaker 1: overwhelmingly seem to be in favor of that. Now the media,
• 11:42
Speaker 1: in critics, well, they're already raising concerns about executive overreach
• 11:47
Speaker 1: of the president and whether Trump has the authority to
• 11:50
Speaker 1: spend money without Congress. But while the debate plays out,
• 11:54
Speaker 1: one thing is clear. The pressure is now squarely on
• 11:58
Speaker 1: the Democrats and lawmakers to figure this out because the
• 12:02
Speaker 1: longer this standoff continues, the worse the consequences become. And yes,
• 12:07
Speaker 1: we are talking about airportant disruptions across the country. Thousands
• 12:12
Speaker 1: of federal workers in financial distress are quitting all together
• 12:16
Speaker 1: in a system that millions of Americans rely on every
• 12:19
Speaker 1: single day, including our economy. So now the question is
• 12:24
Speaker 1: what will happen next. Does Congress finally reach a deal
• 12:27
Speaker 1: and fund the DHS, or does this emergency action become
• 12:31
Speaker 1: the new reality for the executive branch is forced to
• 12:35
Speaker 1: step in when legislation fails in Congress.
