Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: The closer is here. Emilio Pagan back with the Reds. So,
- 0:05Speaker 1: first off, congrats on the contract. And now you're back
- 0:09Speaker 1: in spring training with a team that I know really
- 0:12Speaker 1: had a great time with last year and had a
- 0:13Speaker 1: banger of a season.
- 0:14Speaker 2: So tell us how it all went down for you
- 0:16Speaker 2: this offseason.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it was awesome.
- 0:20Speaker 4: You know, free agencies has been fun for me the
- 0:22Speaker 4: two times I've been a free agent, and definitely knew
- 0:26Speaker 4: I wanted to be back here in Cincinnati and playing
- 0:28Speaker 4: for Tito and the staff. You're right, I had a
- 0:31Speaker 4: great time. Our our clubhouse here is awesome, probably one
- 0:35Speaker 4: of the closest nick groups I've been a part of,
- 0:38Speaker 4: which is special. You know, it doesn't come around often,
- 0:40Speaker 4: and so I knew I wanted to be back on
- 0:42Speaker 4: the team that. You know, we got a taste of
- 0:44Speaker 4: the playoffs for our young group, our young guys that
- 0:46Speaker 4: hadn't been there before, and with our starting pitching man,
- 0:49Speaker 4: I really feel like we can make a run at
- 0:51Speaker 4: the division and hopefully make a deeper run into the playoffs.
- 0:55Speaker 5: What was it like being annointed the closer? Kind of
- 0:57Speaker 5: I don't want to say. In the it was kind
- 0:59Speaker 5: of the middle of the year kind of thing, right,
- 1:01Speaker 5: you kind of just pick over that role. Was that
- 1:03Speaker 5: different for you? And then I mean the way you
- 1:05Speaker 5: finished was unbelievable.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah, So I've always felt like I could do that role.
- 1:11Speaker 4: You know, I had a decent run with Tampa and
- 1:13Speaker 4: nineteen when I played with Cratzy, which was awesome, a
- 1:16Speaker 4: lot of fun, but really our best two arms that
- 1:19Speaker 4: year were you know, Diego Castillo and Jose Alvarado and
- 1:22Speaker 4: and I just kind of got hot at the right time.
- 1:24Speaker 3: They were both a little banged up.
- 1:26Speaker 4: And then had another shot at it in Minnesota in
- 1:29Speaker 4: twenty two and got a guy by Joan Durant throwing
- 1:33Speaker 4: one hundred and five and I'm looking down like, why
- 1:35Speaker 4: am I throwing the ninth in it? This guy is
- 1:37Speaker 4: a cheat code out here, And so very quickly he
- 1:42Speaker 4: took over that role, and you know, we had a
- 1:44Speaker 4: we had a good run there when I was with
- 1:46Speaker 4: the Twins, and then you know, I signed here and
- 1:48Speaker 4: you know, Alexis Dias been one of the most consistent
- 1:50Speaker 4: closers percentage wise over the last few seasons, and uh,
- 1:54Speaker 4: he was banged up a little bit in spring training
- 1:56Speaker 4: and I got a chance to close a couple of
- 1:59Speaker 4: games early and and then Tito texts me and goes, hey,
- 2:01Speaker 4: you know, I like what you're doing. You're my guy,
- 2:03Speaker 4: And so I just tried to have fun with it
- 2:06Speaker 4: this time around, you know, not not really make the
- 2:08Speaker 4: role any bigger than it is, put any pressure on myself.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Just go get three outs and enjoy doing it. And
- 2:14Speaker 4: I had a blast. So hopefully I can, you know,
- 2:16Speaker 4: do something similar, if not better this year.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Is it the same? Is the ninth inning the same?
- 2:21Speaker 6: Because everybody says it's just another inning?
- 2:26Speaker 4: Uh no, it's not. It definitely doesn't feel the same.
- 2:31Speaker 4: But I tried to make it in my head feel
- 2:34Speaker 4: the same, if that makes sense. Like I tried to
- 2:36Speaker 4: just my job is to go execute pitches at a
- 2:39Speaker 4: high level, and if I felt like if I did that,
- 2:42Speaker 4: then I was okay with whatever the result was. You know,
- 2:45Speaker 4: if I blew the game, but I felt like I
- 2:46Speaker 4: threw well, I wasn't gonna be more upset than if
- 2:50Speaker 4: I pitched bad and got lucky. And you know, the
- 2:53Speaker 4: hitters just mispitches to hit. So that's the kind of
- 2:56Speaker 4: the way I tried to approach it. And for me,
- 3:00Speaker 4: I'm not going to speak for everybody that does that role.
- 3:02Speaker 4: For me, that was the way that I can make
- 3:04Speaker 4: it feel like every other inning. But there's definitely heightened intensity,
- 3:08Speaker 4: there's definitely heightened nerves.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I'm old enough and been.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Around long enough now that I'm not afraid to admit that, Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 4: I'm nervous running out there, But I feel like nerves
- 3:17Speaker 4: are a good thing.
- 3:18Speaker 3: It means that you care.
- 3:19Speaker 4: It means that you're excited to go, you know, and
- 3:22Speaker 4: do the best at the opportunity you're given.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And so.
- 3:25Speaker 4: I definitely wouldn't have been able to admit that when
- 3:27Speaker 4: I played with you Crassey, I was definitely trying to
- 3:29Speaker 4: be the tough guy that was saying no, I'm not
- 3:32Speaker 4: worried about it, But now that I've been around it,
- 3:34Speaker 4: I don't worry about it anymore.
- 3:36Speaker 5: As the closer going into twenty twenty six, do you
- 3:39Speaker 5: get a cool walker? You mentioned Heuran Douran the coolest
- 3:43Speaker 5: walkouts up?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:44Speaker 5: Do you get one of those this year? And have
- 3:46Speaker 5: you figured it out if you are?
- 3:47Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 3:47Speaker 4: So they I feel like the Reds did a pretty
- 3:49Speaker 4: good job with mine last year. And there's definitely some
- 3:52Speaker 4: talks about some stuff that's going on. Can you give
- 3:56Speaker 4: us a hint, I'll give you a hint. Yeah, I'll
- 3:57Speaker 4: give you a hint. I'm a big WWE fan. And
- 3:59Speaker 4: so they're some WWE sound bites. There's some WWE music
- 4:03Speaker 4: last year. I started with Cody Rhoades and I finished
- 4:06Speaker 4: with Roman Reigns. There's a little bit going on that
- 4:10Speaker 4: that could make it a pretty cool entrance.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Okay, well, then who's your guy? Sorry, Grozzy, Yeah, Who's
- 4:16Speaker 5: Who's your guy? Then Cody Roads?
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think Cody's got probably the best song.
- 4:23Speaker 4: But if I'm if I'm sitting down on the couch
- 4:25Speaker 4: watching Monday Night Raw, I'd probably say that I get
- 4:28Speaker 4: the most excited when Roman Raine is out there.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Okay, and then and then one more follow Crotzy sorry
- 4:33Speaker 5: on this because obviously everyone knows I'm a wrestling guy.
- 4:36Speaker 7: Do you like it on Netflix?
- 4:38Speaker 5: Because for me, I used to like it when it
- 4:40Speaker 5: was on linear table because I could not I didn't
- 4:43Speaker 5: have to sit and watch it right, and then the
- 4:44Speaker 5: commercials come on. I could fast forward through the commercials. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 5: But now on Netflix you can't fast forward through the commercials,
- 4:50Speaker 5: so you're stuck yeah, watching them.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I do like it though, because we play on Monday nights. True.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I mean, so it's like, you know, a lot of time.
- 4:57Speaker 4: You know, Jose Travino's a big w W guy, and
- 4:59Speaker 4: so we would finish the game and everybody'd come over
- 5:02Speaker 4: to my hotel room and we'd throw on Netflix and
- 5:04Speaker 4: watch One Night Roll.
- 5:05Speaker 3: So I like that fact. But you're right.
- 5:08Speaker 4: But you know, I grew up with that on USA Network. Yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 4: that was to me where I fell in love with it.
- 5:15Speaker 4: But having the ability to go back and watch it
- 5:17Speaker 4: is nice.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Hold up, hold up, AJ, we can talk offline. I
- 5:21Speaker 1: can still help you skip commercials. So Melio, maybe you
- 5:25Speaker 1: and me have something else figured out in the rest
- 5:27Speaker 1: of the world.
- 5:27Speaker 2: No, you can, you can. I promise you. You can
- 5:31Speaker 2: watch that thing commercial free. I promise you.
- 5:33Speaker 7: Yeah, but how much more do you gotta pay? Scott?
- 5:35Speaker 7: I mean, we're not going to take anything there. We go.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Well, okay, right now we're talking to a guy who
- 5:40Speaker 1: just got a nice lucrative contract.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So anyway, Crat, you're up.
- 5:44Speaker 6: All I was gonna say was, do you realize that
- 5:47Speaker 6: you're super close to wrestling greatness? AJ has a.
- 5:52Speaker 7: Belt numerous multiple multiplet.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Well, you have one, you have one real belt that
- 5:58Speaker 6: you won the Royal Rumble, right, that's the.
- 6:02Speaker 7: No no, no, no.
- 6:03Speaker 5: So I have one from TNA that I wanted to
- 6:06Speaker 5: beat the ship out of a guy with a home plate.
- 6:09Speaker 5: And then I have I was presented the e c
- 6:12Speaker 5: W from Tommy Dreamer.
- 6:14Speaker 3: No way.
- 6:14Speaker 5: And then I also have the Spinner. Edge is a
- 6:19Speaker 5: buddy of mine. Okay, so I did when they were
- 6:21Speaker 5: doing the guest host I did raw the Price is
- 6:25Speaker 5: Right with Bob Barker and they had a whole lot
- 6:27Speaker 5: of the crowd and uh so they gave me the
- 6:30Speaker 5: rated R star when they had the Spin.
- 6:32Speaker 7: Yeah that's sweet.
- 6:33Speaker 4: So yeah, last year I ordered a whole bunch of
- 6:35Speaker 4: ww T shirts and Edge was one of them.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and uh you know that was I.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Would have liked four or five of Edge, four or
- 6:42Speaker 4: five of John Cena, Shawn Michaels Triple H and the
- 6:47Speaker 4: d of gave him around the whole clubhouse.
- 6:48Speaker 3: And so yeah, I was a big Edge fan.
- 6:49Speaker 5: As long as you don't come out to the stone cold. No, no,
- 6:52Speaker 5: that's overplayed, okay, good, good, all right, we're good.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Who would who would win in a cage match?
- 6:57Speaker 7: You were Travino?
- 7:00Speaker 4: I mean I'm never going to say another man's gonna
- 7:02Speaker 4: beat me in a fight. Uh yeah, I'm gonna say
- 7:05Speaker 4: me on that one.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Are you a face or a heel?
- 7:07Speaker 3: Though?
- 7:11Speaker 4: I think it depends on the pop you know, like fans,
- 7:15Speaker 4: if you don't get a pop coming out, you gotta
- 7:16Speaker 4: go heal right, But if you get a pop, then
- 7:20Speaker 4: you're you gotta play the face card.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It just depends on the fan reaction. I think there's
- 7:24Speaker 3: an art to it.
- 7:25Speaker 5: Listen, I've done both. I've played both. Way more fun
- 7:29Speaker 5: being the heel. So the first year when I did TNA,
- 7:31Speaker 5: I was I was the face. I was the good guy.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Okay.
- 7:33Speaker 5: So I came out and I helped and we won, right,
- 7:36Speaker 5: And the next year I got to do the heel
- 7:39Speaker 5: and I got to beat up David Eckstein and his
- 7:41Speaker 5: brother Rick Gosh okay, and it was way more fun.
- 7:45Speaker 5: You can say anything and you get a reaction. It's
- 7:47Speaker 5: much harder to be the nice guy and get a reaction.
- 7:50Speaker 3: But like David, are we talking aj styles TNA?
- 7:53Speaker 7: Yes?
- 7:53Speaker 3: Wow, Yes sick.
- 7:55Speaker 5: David xtey wrote a children's book and in the ring,
- 7:58Speaker 5: I ripped it up in his face and I was
- 7:59Speaker 5: like this is garbage, and I threw it at.
- 8:01Speaker 7: Him and so we got to beat it.
- 8:03Speaker 5: We couldn't touch David because he was you know, World
- 8:05Speaker 5: Series Mvpright, we got to beat up Rick, who at
- 8:08Speaker 5: the time wasn't a big league kidting coach yet, but
- 8:11Speaker 5: he was my bullpenk catcher when I played for the Twins,
- 8:14Speaker 5: so I had a relationship with him.
- 8:16Speaker 7: I we got to beat the crap out of him.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yeah, man, that's cool.
- 8:20Speaker 7: So it's much more fun to be.
- 8:22Speaker 6: All right, Well, let's talk about not beating the crap
- 8:25Speaker 6: out of other people and teams. You guys, your run
- 8:30Speaker 6: to the playoffs last year. I was texting with House,
- 8:33Speaker 6: your third base coach, throughout September, and he kept texting
- 8:38Speaker 6: me like the same thing. He's like, why couldn't we
- 8:41Speaker 6: do it? What was the mantra in that clubhouse? Like, obviously,
- 8:45Speaker 6: you guys have to be watching the Mets and the
- 8:48Speaker 6: collapse that they had, But what was the like constant
- 8:52Speaker 6: day in and day out talk for you guys, considering
- 8:55Speaker 6: Ellie was essentially playing on one leg and you guys
- 8:58Speaker 6: were trying to make the playoffs.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, uh, I think Ellie plan on one
- 9:03Speaker 4: leg was kind of a positive for us. I mean,
- 9:06Speaker 4: this guy is easily our best player and has a
- 9:11Speaker 4: ton to play for. Obviously, with the news that come out,
- 9:14Speaker 4: Uh you know, whether it's true or not, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 4: I haven't asked him, but you get you get offered
- 9:19Speaker 4: over a quarter of a billion dollars and you turn
- 9:21Speaker 4: it down, like this guy's got a lot to play for,
- 9:23Speaker 4: and it just shows how much he cares about our guys,
- 9:25Speaker 4: you know what I mean. It shows how much he
- 9:26Speaker 4: cares about this organization, how much he wants to win,
- 9:29Speaker 4: knowing that, you know, we're better on the field if
- 9:33Speaker 4: he's out there then than not having him out there
- 9:35Speaker 4: and so him playing through what he was playing through.
- 9:39Speaker 4: There was other guys who were banged up, and uh,
- 9:42Speaker 4: you're right, you know there we didn't ever really come
- 9:44Speaker 4: to the field and feel like we were out of it.
- 9:46Speaker 3: There was definitely.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Outside noise people that were saying that, you know, it
- 9:50Speaker 4: wasn't our year that you know, maybe next year this
- 9:54Speaker 4: or that, or it's gonna take a miracle to get there.
- 9:58Speaker 4: We never bought into it. We felt like we had
- 10:00Speaker 4: a chance to win every day. You look at our
- 10:02Speaker 4: starting rotation, what they were able to do the amount
- 10:05Speaker 4: of innings they were able to cover for us, we
- 10:08Speaker 4: feel confident, man, and having Tito, I mean, you guys
- 10:12Speaker 4: all know Tito, Like, this guy is better than anybody
- 10:15Speaker 4: I've been around in baseball at coming to the field
- 10:19Speaker 4: not worried about yesterday's results or how we're going to
- 10:22Speaker 4: get through today and save arms for tomorrow. He just
- 10:25Speaker 4: only focuses on how we're going to win today's game,
- 10:28Speaker 4: which is a very good quality to have as a
- 10:31Speaker 4: baseball player and probably the number one quality to have
- 10:34Speaker 4: in my opinion as a manager. Just being focused solely
- 10:37Speaker 4: on today's game and how we're gonna play our best
- 10:39Speaker 4: brand at baseball that day. And so we never got
- 10:43Speaker 4: two up or two down with the whole process of September. Yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 4: we were definitely watching the other teams that we were
- 10:48Speaker 4: battling with, but we tried to stay as focused on
- 10:51Speaker 4: us as we could, and and it worked out for us.
- 10:55Speaker 6: Talk about your manager, Talk about Tito, Like, do you
- 10:57Speaker 6: have any good funny Tito story, Because I've heard he's
- 11:01Speaker 6: mellowed since he had all the health stuff and now
- 11:04Speaker 6: he's come back and he thinks he's a supermodel because
- 11:07Speaker 6: he lost a couple pounds, Like, does he do you
- 11:10Speaker 6: have any good stories because he had a history before
- 11:13Speaker 6: he came to Cincinnati and he kind of just got
- 11:17Speaker 6: dropped right into that clubhouse.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think some of the best stories
- 11:22Speaker 4: are stories from before he got here. You know, there's
- 11:25Speaker 4: definitely some stories about stuff that went on last year.
- 11:29Speaker 4: I don't know if he wants me to share any
- 11:32Speaker 4: of them, so I won't be in that. I have
- 11:34Speaker 4: a ton of respect for Tito, but yeah, he's a
- 11:38Speaker 4: He's a great time to have as a manager. He's
- 11:40Speaker 4: obviously still super, super intense and wants to win, super competitive,
- 11:45Speaker 4: and I'm incredibly grateful to have the chance to play
- 11:48Speaker 4: for him. I mean, you can see with the way
- 11:51Speaker 4: he goes about his business, how he communicates to every
- 11:53Speaker 4: player in the clubhouse, you can see why he's gonna
- 11:56Speaker 4: end up in the Hall of Fame when he's done.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Amilio, can you explain to the crowd why your game,
- 12:02Speaker 1: your style works in Cincinnati. I remember when you first
- 12:05Speaker 1: signed with the Reds and some analysts were like, oh,
- 12:08Speaker 1: extreme flyball, line drive guy in Cincinnati, Why would the
- 12:11Speaker 1: Reds target a pitcher like this?
- 12:14Speaker 2: And then look at the year that you just came
- 12:16Speaker 2: off of.
- 12:17Speaker 1: It also helps when you strike out the world and
- 12:19Speaker 1: you mastered the splitter a little bit more. But just
- 12:22Speaker 1: wanted to get your take on, you know, why it's
- 12:24Speaker 1: worked for you and what you've learned from pitching in
- 12:26Speaker 1: that park and making yourself even better.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I think the biggest thing is I've
- 12:30Speaker 4: stopped kind of buying into the flyball thing. You know,
- 12:35Speaker 4: there was a little there was a couple of years
- 12:37Speaker 4: there in the middle of my career where I was
- 12:40Speaker 4: trying to avoid the home run, you know, and so
- 12:42Speaker 4: I was throwing more off speed pitches. I was trying to,
- 12:46Speaker 4: you know, get to the bottom of the zone a
- 12:47Speaker 4: little bit more consistently, and from what I've experienced and
- 12:51Speaker 4: found out, like that leads to more homers for me.
- 12:54Speaker 4: And so I stopped like really worrying about the ball
- 12:57Speaker 4: going in the air and just tried to pitch the
- 13:00Speaker 4: way I've pitched my whole life, you know, even as
- 13:02Speaker 4: a kid, Like for some reason, when I pitched on
- 13:04Speaker 4: the mound, I just was able to command the top.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Of the zone.
- 13:09Speaker 4: It wasn't until you know, really a few years into
- 13:11Speaker 4: my professional career career with analytics that I found out
- 13:14Speaker 4: why with my you know, low approach angle and the
- 13:17Speaker 4: carry on my fastball, and so it's good to have
- 13:21Speaker 4: those numbers, but I've I've kind of stopped looking at
- 13:23Speaker 4: all of it and just gone back to I'm gonna
- 13:26Speaker 4: play baseball. I'm gonna do what the game's telling me
- 13:28Speaker 4: to do and not try and overthink this. And I
- 13:32Speaker 4: found that when I try to get the hitter to
- 13:33Speaker 4: swing at every pitch, that's when i'm my best. And
- 13:37Speaker 4: so you're right, Great American Ballpark gives up some homers.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I'm still gonna give up homers.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I'm not afraid to admit that. I know it's gonna
- 13:46Speaker 4: happen as part of the game, as part of my game.
- 13:49Speaker 4: But I feel like if I just stay aggressive with
- 13:50Speaker 4: my fastball and and you're right, Scot, the splitter has
- 13:54Speaker 4: really opened up a lot of different ways for me
- 13:56Speaker 4: to get hitters out. That's my best route to success.
- 13:59Speaker 4: And so that's what I'm gonna That's what I'm gonna
- 14:01Speaker 4: stick with.
- 14:01Speaker 7: You also had a cutter, right, So.
- 14:03Speaker 4: I've always thrown I called a cutter because I hold
- 14:06Speaker 4: it like a cutter. But I'm not I'm not a
- 14:09Speaker 4: great breaking ball thrower, and so I hold it like
- 14:11Speaker 4: a cutter to get more of like a slider action.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Every traditional slider group I've tried it, it just kind of
- 14:17Speaker 4: pops out of my hand. And so no matter how
- 14:19Speaker 4: much it moves, you know that if you can see
- 14:21Speaker 4: it early, it's a bad pitch. And so every time
- 14:24Speaker 4: I tried to throw a traditional slider, it was an
- 14:26Speaker 4: easy take out of hand, or it was really loud
- 14:29Speaker 4: and that's not good for pictures. And so I hold
- 14:32Speaker 4: it as a cutter. And I've done that since probably
- 14:36Speaker 4: middle of twenty nineteen until.
- 14:37Speaker 7: Now got it.
- 14:38Speaker 5: No WBC for you this year? You played the last
- 14:41Speaker 5: couple of years for Puerto Rico. Yeah, couldn't get insurance.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Or no that I I guess the insurance thing is new,
- 14:47Speaker 4: or if it's not new, I did a poor job
- 14:49Speaker 4: of looking into it. I never I've never had insurance
- 14:51Speaker 4: for the WBC, not at least not that I'm aware of.
- 14:55Speaker 3: No, just being that I'm.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Turning thirty five this year, the Reds have invested a
- 15:02Speaker 4: lot in me. I feel like we've got a chance
- 15:04Speaker 4: to be a special team. I just didn't feel good
- 15:07Speaker 4: about going back and playing you know, I've told the
- 15:12Speaker 4: guys with Puerto Rico like, I'm obviously super, super thankful
- 15:15Speaker 4: for my time. I've represented them three times now, back
- 15:18Speaker 4: in twenty fifteen in the Premiere twelve and then the
- 15:21Speaker 4: WBC the last two times, and I've said this a
- 15:24Speaker 4: number of times. I don't think without the WBC in seventeen,
- 15:28Speaker 4: I have the career that I've had. I was not
- 15:31Speaker 4: on the radar, I was not a top prospect. I
- 15:33Speaker 4: wasn't even invited to major League camp that year with Seattle,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and so that WBC definitely changed the path.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Of my career and I'm forever grateful for that.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I just felt like it was my time to kind
- 15:45Speaker 4: of step away and like, you know, let another young
- 15:48Speaker 4: guy that was in my shoes have a shot at it.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Well, let me clear one thing up, So anyone that's
- 15:52Speaker 1: playing in the WBC does have insurance. Whether you know
- 15:56Speaker 1: it or not, it gets covered by the tournament. You
- 15:58Speaker 1: do probably some type of intro physical at some point,
- 16:01Speaker 1: you know, leading up to that tournament. So my last
- 16:04Speaker 1: question on this is it was a big deal when
- 16:07Speaker 1: we found out that many of the players representing Puerto
- 16:11Speaker 1: Rico that did want to be there this year couldn't
- 16:13Speaker 1: ye because of insurance issues. So you know, what are
- 16:17Speaker 1: your feelings when you have such an affinity to Puerto
- 16:20Speaker 1: Rico and they're going to get to host games and hey,
- 16:23Speaker 1: they've still got some talent on there. It's not like
- 16:25Speaker 1: there's nobody. It's just that you're missing some key players.
- 16:27Speaker 1: And actually some of them ended up getting hurt. Anyway,
- 16:29Speaker 1: like Lindor who ends up getting hurt. The insurance part
- 16:31Speaker 1: doesn't matter, but just your thoughts on you know how
- 16:34Speaker 1: Puerto Rico feels about, you know, missing some of their
- 16:37Speaker 1: key guys.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, number one, it sucks.
- 16:42Speaker 4: If you'd have told me that that that group we
- 16:44Speaker 4: had in seventeen, you know, over the course of our
- 16:46Speaker 4: career we weren't going to win the WBC, I would
- 16:48Speaker 4: have told you were crazy.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I thought for sure we were going to win one.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Not saying that they can't win it this year, but
- 16:55Speaker 4: a lot of the main guys you're right, aren't going
- 16:57Speaker 4: to be there. And Puerto Rico Baseball, there's plenty of
- 17:01Speaker 4: talent on that island. Uh, They're gonna be just fine. Uh,
- 17:04Speaker 4: it'll be names that maybe guys don't know yet. One
- 17:07Speaker 4: of them in our clubhouse. Edwin Arroyo, this kid is
- 17:09Speaker 4: a stud and uh he's gonna be a really good
- 17:12Speaker 4: player for a long time. And so I've already been
- 17:14Speaker 4: on him about and I saw Edwin, Edwin Diaz already
- 17:17Speaker 4: has his hair, uh you know, bleach blonde, and so
- 17:20Speaker 4: I'm on, I'm on Edwin here Arroyo to get his
- 17:23Speaker 4: hair bleach. But he's got a lot of hair, so
- 17:25Speaker 4: he does him. I'm not sure he's looking forward to that,
- 17:27Speaker 4: but uh, yeah, Puerto Rico baseball is gonna be fine.
- 17:30Speaker 3: It is sad, uh for the for.
- 17:33Speaker 4: The Puerto Rican Baseball Federation and for the island, for
- 17:35Speaker 4: the fans that you know, a lot of their big
- 17:37Speaker 4: name guys aren't gonna be playing, but uh it's a
- 17:39Speaker 4: chance for the guys that maybe are not as well
- 17:42Speaker 4: known to show how talented they are because there's plenty
- 17:45Speaker 4: of good players on that roster.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Still, yeah, good point.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Next Emelio could emerge there where all of a sudden,
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, he has a break out, and then you
- 17:52Speaker 1: see him in the WBC and then you see him
- 17:54Speaker 1: in MLB. Millio, thank you so much for joining us.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Always really really appreciate the time and the conversation. Good
- 17:59Speaker 1: luck season, We'll talk.
- 18:00Speaker 3: To you soon. Yeah, thanks, Gush, appreciate you having me on.
- 18:03Speaker 1: We have Brady Singer from the Reds. Brady, great to
- 18:05Speaker 1: see you. Happy spring training to you. Do you have
- 18:07Speaker 1: any tricks up your sleeve working on anything special for
- 18:10Speaker 1: us this spring?
- 18:11Speaker 8: Hey, guys, how you doing? No, not nothing, nothing too crazy.
- 18:15Speaker 8: Just trying to sharpen everything, get built up and get
- 18:18Speaker 8: ready to go. But no, no new pitches, No, nothing
- 18:21Speaker 8: like that. A few mechanical changes, but not just trying
- 18:24Speaker 8: to make everything everything better and stay healthy for the
- 18:26Speaker 8: whole year.
- 18:27Speaker 7: No like curveball, like big slow epis curveball.
- 18:30Speaker 8: No, No, I've been thinking about it though, I've I've
- 18:32Speaker 8: thought about it for sure, But no, no new No,
- 18:35Speaker 8: totally new pitches. Just trying to make some other things
- 18:38Speaker 8: a little bit better than they were before. Starts like
- 18:41Speaker 8: you that, So I'm gonna I'm gonna try to do
- 18:43Speaker 8: that every try to do it again.
- 18:44Speaker 7: How do you do that? What's it like?
- 18:46Speaker 5: Because you're one of the few guys that really does
- 18:48Speaker 5: take the ball everything. That's one of your greatest strengths,
- 18:52Speaker 5: and I think that's one of the greatest strengths that
- 18:53Speaker 5: any pitcher can have.
- 18:55Speaker 7: Yeah, I just I don't know.
- 18:56Speaker 8: I grew up just watching those guys just make their
- 18:59Speaker 8: starts every time. It's just really cool to see the
- 19:02Speaker 8: guys that went out there and pitch every every game
- 19:05Speaker 8: and through a.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Lot of innings.
- 19:06Speaker 8: I feel like there were, you know, guys that teams
- 19:08Speaker 8: relied on and stuff like that. And but yeah, no,
- 19:11Speaker 8: I just I enjoy kind of being that, being that
- 19:13Speaker 8: guy that has made that starts and just obviously thankful
- 19:16Speaker 8: to be healthy as long as I have and make
- 19:18Speaker 8: those starts.
- 19:19Speaker 3: But yeah, just I don't know.
- 19:21Speaker 7: They pay you to go out.
- 19:22Speaker 8: There and pitch, so I go out there and pitch
- 19:24Speaker 8: as much as I can, no matter how I feel.
- 19:26Speaker 6: So they're getting their money's worth. But obviously you've got
- 19:28Speaker 6: a free agency coming up, and is there any other
- 19:33Speaker 6: way to possibly do it for you? Because people are like, oh, man,
- 19:36Speaker 6: you know this guy, he's just so much better when
- 19:38Speaker 6: he only makes twenty four starts. So the team's only
- 19:42Speaker 6: really relying on twenty four starts. Could you could Brady
- 19:45Speaker 6: see her come out and be like, yeah, I'll just
- 19:47Speaker 6: throw one hundred and two miles an hour, but I'm
- 19:49Speaker 6: only gonna make seventeen starts, like, could it be possible?
- 19:53Speaker 6: Could you possibly do it any other way than what
- 19:55Speaker 6: you do it?
- 19:56Speaker 3: No?
- 19:57Speaker 8: Probably not. If I could throw one hundred two miles
- 19:58Speaker 8: an hour, I would. I would try to do that
- 20:00Speaker 8: for sure, But I can. I can't do that. No,
- 20:04Speaker 8: I just know I like, I like who I am.
- 20:07Speaker 8: I mean, obviously, you know, trying to continue to get
- 20:09Speaker 8: better each and every day and work on stuff and
- 20:12Speaker 8: all that and try to put together really good starts.
- 20:14Speaker 8: But I really enjoy throwing a lot of innings and
- 20:17Speaker 8: making every start that I can't.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Hey, Brady talked to me last year about the pitch mix.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I think you threw less sliders last year than you
- 20:25Speaker 1: did the year before.
- 20:26Speaker 2: So what went into that? More? What else did you
- 20:30Speaker 2: have here?
- 20:30Speaker 1: I'm looking through the mix here more sweepers, cutter percentage
- 20:33Speaker 1: went up, So what went into that?
- 20:35Speaker 2: And who helps you decide that?
- 20:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:38Speaker 8: You know, I brought up a four team too to
- 20:41Speaker 8: th dough that a little bit last year is something
- 20:43Speaker 8: I haven't thrown in the pass just kind of because
- 20:45Speaker 8: of my arm soot, I felt like I couldn't really,
- 20:47Speaker 8: you know, get the right grip on it and make
- 20:50Speaker 8: it do what I wanted to do, but I figured
- 20:52Speaker 8: out that a little bit was able to throw that
- 20:54Speaker 8: kind of up in his own, and then the cutter
- 20:55Speaker 8: was huge. Just trying to get something to keep lefties
- 20:57Speaker 8: off off balance there. I feel like, you know, I
- 21:00Speaker 8: could use the sinker and the slider inside and then
- 21:03Speaker 8: use it away, but having the cutter kind of going
- 21:05Speaker 8: into him, I was kind of focusing on it up
- 21:08Speaker 8: and end like that really helped me a lot. And yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 8: mixing the sweeper in and the slider as well, just
- 21:13Speaker 8: kind of playing those two off each other, I feel
- 21:16Speaker 8: like helped me a lot.
- 21:16Speaker 7: And I guess what I understand, Like a slider and
- 21:19Speaker 7: a sweeper, they seem like they're the.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Same pitch minor and in general in general.
- 21:24Speaker 8: I mean, the sweeper has a bigger horizontal break, so
- 21:27Speaker 8: it's sliders more yeah, more like gy yeah more gyro,
- 21:30Speaker 8: like a tighter, tighter break. That's what you know, we're
- 21:33Speaker 8: trying to do is make it have a bigger one
- 21:35Speaker 8: and a shorter one. And usually the slider is supposed
- 21:37Speaker 8: to be hard. Last year mine we're kind of the
- 21:39Speaker 8: same velocity, so we're trying to fix out a little bit,
- 21:42Speaker 8: throw a little bit harder slider this year, then use
- 21:44Speaker 8: the sweeper as kind of a slower, bigger see.
- 21:49Speaker 7: You cut you could this is like where the old school.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Yeah no, no, I might do yeah slider call like
- 21:55Speaker 5: a micro slider.
- 21:56Speaker 7: Yeah yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 5: The cutter yeah right, so then you're like, oh, you
- 21:59Speaker 5: throw a cutter. Yeah, like no, that's my slider. And
- 22:01Speaker 5: then the cutters, like the cutter has carry carry.
- 22:04Speaker 8: Cut so you want to yeah, that's that's the cutter
- 22:07Speaker 8: and the slider has.
- 22:11Speaker 7: Confused.
- 22:11Speaker 3: I was.
- 22:12Speaker 8: I was very confused a long time ago when all
- 22:14Speaker 8: this came out, for sure, But I've kind of got
- 22:16Speaker 8: some of it figured out.
- 22:17Speaker 7: Now.
- 22:17Speaker 8: There's obviously a whole nother realm that I have no idea,
- 22:20Speaker 8: but yeah, there's you know, you want the slider and
- 22:22Speaker 8: the cutter to be definitely different.
- 22:25Speaker 6: Is Citizen I mean that as Citizen's Bank, Great American
- 22:28Speaker 6: small park a pictures park because we had a whole
- 22:31Speaker 6: segment earlier in the off season. Do you think it's
- 22:33Speaker 6: a pictures park now?
- 22:35Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 4: No.
- 22:36Speaker 8: Last year I saw that it that it did play
- 22:38Speaker 8: like that, which I obviously enjoyed, but no, I thought it.
- 22:41Speaker 8: I thought it played fine last year and I didn't
- 22:43Speaker 8: see many crazy home runs that you know I've heard
- 22:46Speaker 8: about in the past, anything like that. So yeah, I
- 22:50Speaker 8: enjoyed the park last year. Was it was awesome. Fans
- 22:53Speaker 8: were great too. It was a really cool atmosphere, yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Which is definitely a pictures and you heard all the
- 22:59Speaker 5: things about, you know, great American ballpark, right, so what changed?
- 23:03Speaker 7: Did you guys up the humidity and the humid door
- 23:05Speaker 7: and yeah, I don't know.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I have nothing, nothing to do with that.
- 23:08Speaker 7: I have no idea.
- 23:09Speaker 3: No, I have no idea.
- 23:11Speaker 8: It's yeah, I think it played pretty true and that
- 23:14Speaker 8: was nice. But I did go to I did go
- 23:16Speaker 8: back to Coffin this year and pitch and gave up
- 23:18Speaker 8: some really long fly balls that I thought would have
- 23:20Speaker 8: at Homer. It's a great American so that was nice
- 23:23Speaker 8: to be in that park that day.
- 23:25Speaker 3: It was great.
- 23:26Speaker 8: Yeah, I know, the fans gave me a little welcome back.
- 23:28Speaker 8: And obviously seeing all the guys, you know, I grew
- 23:31Speaker 8: up there.
- 23:31Speaker 7: I guess you could say, you know, out of the
- 23:33Speaker 7: drafts and all that.
- 23:34Speaker 8: So yeah, it was awesome to go back and and
- 23:36Speaker 8: see the fans and you know, all the old players
- 23:38Speaker 8: and get to talk to everyone. And you know, you
- 23:40Speaker 8: just you meet so many people going through there and
- 23:44Speaker 8: all the all the cooks and all the people that
- 23:46Speaker 8: work and all that stuff.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Got off the elevator because the coffin you go down,
- 23:49Speaker 5: you go down the elevator, you go the wrong way
- 23:51Speaker 5: at first. No, No, I went over to you come out
- 23:54Speaker 5: and go right to go to the home.
- 23:55Speaker 7: You left to go to the visit. So did you
- 23:57Speaker 7: accidentally I leaned a little bit, uh whatever.
- 24:01Speaker 8: I talked to some of the security guys over there
- 24:03Speaker 8: that you know, have been there for a while, so
- 24:04Speaker 8: it was good to see them.
- 24:05Speaker 5: That's awesome. WBC is coming up. You pitched in it
- 24:09Speaker 5: last time. Did they invite you this year? Did you
- 24:12Speaker 5: did you get any interest in going back or did
- 24:15Speaker 5: you say, you know what, guys, it's my free agent year.
- 24:17Speaker 7: I'm gonna stick with Cincinnati.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:20Speaker 8: No, no invite from them, But you know, obviously it's
- 24:22Speaker 8: such a cool experience for me just to.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Be in that atmosphere.
- 24:25Speaker 8: I mean, you're playing, you know, you go from spring
- 24:27Speaker 8: training to you know, thirty forty thousand fans and you know,
- 24:31Speaker 8: basically a playoff atmosphere. Really really cool experience. You know,
- 24:34Speaker 8: all the all the guys that haven't done It's it's unbelievable.
- 24:37Speaker 8: It was, you know, one of them, the Venezuela game.
- 24:40Speaker 8: I was at the Venezuela game just as a fan.
- 24:41Speaker 8: Last was one of the greatest baseball games. It's so cool,
- 24:44Speaker 8: such a you know, cool way they do everything and
- 24:47Speaker 8: how you know many fans they get and you know,
- 24:49Speaker 8: it's just you know.
- 24:50Speaker 7: Final it's like one American fans.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Yes, right, it was. It was crazy. It was Miami ault.
- 24:55Speaker 5: I think it was a Venezuela. They had their those
- 24:57Speaker 5: horns going and they were all waving their venoice.
- 24:59Speaker 7: Yeah. When Trey hit that whole run, I actually got
- 25:01Speaker 7: to stand up.
- 25:02Speaker 8: It was like, yeah, yeah, that was That was probably
- 25:05Speaker 8: the craziest moment in my career so far, was what's
- 25:07Speaker 8: that home run? Just to steady of me rupt in
- 25:10Speaker 8: and just you know, I don't know, it's just different.
- 25:11Speaker 8: We're in the USA across your chest for sure.
- 25:14Speaker 6: So much has made about pitchers ramping it up and everything.
- 25:17Speaker 6: When you pitched into WBC in twenty three, did you
- 25:21Speaker 6: feel any any.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Different going through the year.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Did you feel any like extra sore early that you
- 25:28Speaker 6: had to mix something up that was different because you
- 25:30Speaker 6: ramped it up so early.
- 25:32Speaker 8: No, I didn't feel any difference, like body wise. I
- 25:36Speaker 8: just think I started too early. I think I I
- 25:38Speaker 8: think if I was to do it again, I would
- 25:40Speaker 8: just treat it like a regular offseason, treat it like
- 25:42Speaker 8: a regular spring, and just go out there and pitch.
- 25:46Speaker 7: I tried to ramp up too early.
- 25:48Speaker 8: I think I started throwing, you know, a couple weeks
- 25:51Speaker 8: earlier than I have in the past, and just kind
- 25:53Speaker 8: of felt like, you know, towards the end of the
- 25:55Speaker 8: year and you know, middle of the year that I've
- 25:57Speaker 8: just been throwing for too long.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I didn't feel bad.
- 25:59Speaker 8: I just you know, I think I took too long
- 26:01Speaker 8: of a ramp up and should have just you know,
- 26:03Speaker 8: kind of chilled out and just done what I've been doing.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Brady, you had to pitch longer than anticipated for for
- 26:10Speaker 1: an outing there in the WBC last time around to
- 26:12Speaker 1: my correct one where you went, do you remember how
- 26:16Speaker 1: long how many innings about you had to go.
- 26:19Speaker 8: The Mexico game, because yeah, like a terrible memory, but yeah.
- 26:24Speaker 7: I wasn't bringing it up. We just just know.
- 26:30Speaker 5: If you remember, that was where Randy kind of became
- 26:33Speaker 5: famous for doing that.
- 26:34Speaker 7: Yeah, got way to go, Way to go, Scott. Yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 7: it's over.
- 26:42Speaker 2: There's more to it here.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out the pitching conundrum that tam
- 26:47Speaker 1: U s A goes through. So, first of all, Brady
- 26:49Speaker 1: at least listening to manager Mark Durosa about this. They
- 26:52Speaker 1: get Clayton Kershaw and they want him to just eat
- 26:55Speaker 1: random innings up if need be. But then also, for example,
- 26:58Speaker 1: yesterday we find out that Eric Scooble is only going
- 27:01Speaker 1: to make one start. It's going to be about against
- 27:03Speaker 1: Great Britain early on in the tournament. So my question
- 27:07Speaker 1: for you is how difficult is it for Team USA
- 27:11Speaker 1: to figure out the pitching versus some of the other countries.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Some of the other countries just don't seem to have
- 27:15Speaker 1: that issue, even with their major league pitchers. And so
- 27:18Speaker 1: you got to see a little bit of that vibe
- 27:20Speaker 1: last time around, and they were vocal about it. The
- 27:22Speaker 1: coaching staff was like it was annoying to deal with
- 27:26Speaker 1: all the teams. Everybody had so many rules that we
- 27:28Speaker 1: put people in bad spots.
- 27:31Speaker 8: Yeah, I think it's really hard. I mean, yeah, you're
- 27:35Speaker 8: trying to get all your players, you know, as a
- 27:37Speaker 8: as a GM and as a team you're trying to
- 27:39Speaker 8: get all your your pitchers built up, and obviously your
- 27:41Speaker 8: your frontline starter guys trying to get built up in
- 27:46Speaker 8: a realm. That's very hard to do that just because
- 27:48Speaker 8: you're trying to win too. Yeah, I think it's difficult
- 27:52Speaker 8: for sure, But yeah, we've you know, I thought DeRosa
- 27:55Speaker 8: did a great job the way he handled it and
- 27:57Speaker 8: stuff like that, and yeah, I feel a lot more
- 28:00Speaker 8: pitches and obviously I wanted to, but I told myself
- 28:03Speaker 8: going in, I don't really care what happens. I just
- 28:06Speaker 8: want to pitch, and you know, just get to be
- 28:08Speaker 8: able to enjoy this, this atmosphere and this opportunity.
- 28:12Speaker 7: Because you lived it.
- 28:13Speaker 6: Is there any way that they could have handled it
- 28:14Speaker 6: or that teams can handle it differently? Like, were you
- 28:17Speaker 6: part of the micromanage of okay, text before you start,
- 28:21Speaker 6: a text before your bullpen, checking in all the time?
- 28:25Speaker 7: Uh No, I wasn't.
- 28:26Speaker 8: No, Obviously, I think they're worried about it because you know,
- 28:28Speaker 8: I sat in the bullpen for a few games and
- 28:30Speaker 8: obviously wasn't on the you know, the build up that
- 28:33Speaker 8: I would have been in spring training, So you know,
- 28:36Speaker 8: obviously they were worried about it. But yeah, I just
- 28:39Speaker 8: I don't know how you you know, you fix that
- 28:41Speaker 8: or you manage it or anything like that. I think
- 28:44Speaker 8: it's tough no matter which way you look at it.
- 28:46Speaker 8: But I think the way they did it this year,
- 28:47Speaker 8: with you know, getting Kershaw and stuff like that, having
- 28:50Speaker 8: someone that can you know, basically come in after me
- 28:54Speaker 8: with what happened when I threw a lot of pitches,
- 28:56Speaker 8: it's going to be super helpful.
- 28:58Speaker 7: All right, there's Cincinnati Reds.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Forget this, And it's amazing to me because we've been
- 29:02Speaker 5: around a bunch of camps now and we've we're doing
- 29:05Speaker 5: projections for teams and we're getting numbers that the Cincinnati
- 29:08Speaker 5: Reds made the playoffs last year.
- 29:09Speaker 7: People forget now.
- 29:11Speaker 5: It didn't go obviously the way y'all wanted to against
- 29:13Speaker 5: Los Angeles, but you guys made the playoffs. Can you
- 29:16Speaker 5: guys do it again this year? And what has the
- 29:19Speaker 5: team improved on or maybe learned from last year?
- 29:22Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 29:22Speaker 8: No, I think learning is a is a huge thing.
- 29:24Speaker 8: I mean, guys got there that haven't been there before.
- 29:27Speaker 8: And I haven't been like a you know, a veteran
- 29:29Speaker 8: in the playoffs or anything like that, but just getting
- 29:32Speaker 8: there and kind of you know, getting your feet wet
- 29:34Speaker 8: and seeing how the you know, the anticipation and the
- 29:36Speaker 8: nerves and all that go is sometimes really helpful, you know,
- 29:39Speaker 8: when you do it again. But yeah, you know, we're
- 29:42Speaker 8: definitely a better team than we were last year. You know,
- 29:44Speaker 8: the front office at an awesome job this year with
- 29:47Speaker 8: I think getting Gino was huge, of course, and the
- 29:50Speaker 8: bullpen guys we got, and then the starting rotation is
- 29:53Speaker 8: going to help and and everything. You know, at least
- 29:55Speaker 8: going to have a heck of a year two. And yeah,
- 29:56Speaker 8: I love our team. Really excited to to get going
- 30:00Speaker 8: here after spring. But yeah, I know I'm I'm anticipating
- 30:02Speaker 8: in the playoffs for sure.
- 30:03Speaker 7: I mean, Ellie's just that guy, right.
- 30:05Speaker 3: He's unbelievable.
- 30:06Speaker 8: I Mean, every every night you get to see something new.
- 30:08Speaker 3: You know.
- 30:08Speaker 8: I say the same thing about, you know, playing with
- 30:10Speaker 8: Bobby White. I played with Bobby Wait and now Ellie.
- 30:12Speaker 8: So seeing those two guys every night, something they do,
- 30:15Speaker 8: something new, something exciting.
- 30:17Speaker 3: I can't say.
- 30:19Speaker 5: We know, I love Scott, Scott's favorite. Yeah Scott, I
- 30:23Speaker 5: love both of them. Yeah, Yeah, he's awesome to talk
- 30:26Speaker 5: to him. They're two such such good guys. There's so
- 30:29Speaker 5: much fun to play with.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Uh.
- 30:31Speaker 8: You know, I got to learn and and be with
- 30:33Speaker 8: Ellie last year, and man, he loves the game just
- 30:35Speaker 8: as much as Bobby. They're just out there, they're just
- 30:37Speaker 8: I'm just little kids having fun playing baseball. It's really
- 30:40Speaker 8: cool to see those guys play every night, and I'm
- 30:43Speaker 8: spoiled that. You know, they're behind me every start. All right,
- 30:45Speaker 8: So obviously you played for the Royals. You just mentioned
- 30:48Speaker 8: with the Royals. Did you see what the Royals in
- 30:50Speaker 8: Tolbert did to Jack Kag Yeah. I don't know why
- 30:53Speaker 8: Jack one. I don't know why the Gators lost two. Well,
- 30:59Speaker 8: was the catcher for U.
- 31:00Speaker 3: A B.
- 31:00Speaker 7: So that's why they lost.
- 31:03Speaker 8: I don't know why Jack agreed to that. I would
- 31:05Speaker 8: have never put that on my head when you I
- 31:09Speaker 8: was there. So I was in Gainsville when won that fight.
- 31:11Speaker 5: They got stopped on Saturday in two games, which fine, Yeah,
- 31:14Speaker 5: but they won the Friday night with Peter starting the
- 31:16Speaker 5: whole deal. It was like they won o ma oh
- 31:19Speaker 5: yeah right, I believe that the opening end of the season.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Soest and Jack felt sorry for U.
- 31:23Speaker 3: A B.
- 31:25Speaker 5: Maybe made a bet, but what if you make a bet,
- 31:28Speaker 5: you'd Renig on your bed.
- 31:29Speaker 7: Yeah. Probably you're a better guy than that.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I couldn't do it.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Listen, they're really really yeah, yeah that's what he said.
- 31:38Speaker 5: But you can't Renig.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Just don't make it right. Yeah, I probably would have
- 31:41Speaker 3: made it. We'll start there.
- 31:43Speaker 8: Yeah, you also didn't think I thought that was scared,
- 31:46Speaker 8: but things happened.
- 31:48Speaker 3: I don't think they've lost sense.
- 31:49Speaker 5: No, I don't think they have a great spot. Maybe
- 31:52Speaker 5: he has a notch in their feather and yeah, they
- 31:54Speaker 5: will give it.
- 31:54Speaker 7: The only team so far to be in Florida.
- 31:56Speaker 1: So yeah, the problem was that AJ wasn't rooting for
- 31:59Speaker 1: them during that series. So now he's back on the
- 32:02Speaker 1: Gator train. He can root for his UF and his
- 32:04Speaker 1: UA B. Yeah, he's conflicted this year. You know, he's
- 32:07Speaker 1: got a second team. Brady, awesome talking to you. I
- 32:09Speaker 1: really appreciate the time. Enjoy the rest of spring training.
- 32:12Speaker 1: We'll catch it during the season.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 7: Absolutely, thank you guys for having me on
