- 0:00Welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin. This is Ariel Santana.
- 0:04Can you believe I'm seven years old already? I'm old enough now to introduce my dad.
- 0:10Ladies and gentlemen, your host, my dad, Angel Santana.
- 0:47Hello, everyone, and welcome for another week, another five episodes.
- 0:51It's the final five episodes of this 10-part series.
- 0:55Welcome to the August 10th edition of Half Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:59And it is August 10th because we're up to episode six. And when you do five and five, that makes 10.
- 1:05No, just kidding, guys. Listen, slow down, finding God in the world that never
- 1:09stops. It's episode six, People Are Not Interruptions.
- 1:14That's what we're up to, guys. My name is Angel Santana. Welcome to Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 1:18And thank you for joining us on this journey, this 10-part devotional journey
- 1:23designed to help us live at the pace of Christ.
- 1:26So let me ask you a question. Have you ever been so focused on your schedule,
- 1:31your to-do list, just to be clear, your next appointment, that someone interrupted your plans?
- 1:39Maybe it was a phone call, a coworker, a child, or a neighbor,
- 1:43or even a stranger asking for help.
- 1:46And if we're honest with each other, most of us have thought, not right now.
- 1:52But what if the interruption was actually the assignment?
- 1:56That's what we're going to talk about today. So let's slow down,
- 1:59open God's word together.
- 2:01Biblical perspective. Our primary scripture comes from Luke chapter 10,
- 2:06verses 30 through 37, the parable of the Good Samaritan.
- 2:12Jesus tells the story of a man who had been beaten, robbed, and left for dead.
- 2:18A priest walked by. Then a Levitt.
- 2:22Both saw the man. Both kept going. Then came a Samaritan. He stopped.
- 2:28He noticed. He cared. He interrupted his own journey to care for someone in need.
- 2:35Jesus ended the parable by saying, go and do likewise.
- 2:40Luke chapter 10, verse 37.
- 2:44And our supporting scripture comes from Mark chapter 10, verses 46 to 52.
- 2:51As Jesus was leaving Jericho, the blind Bartima cried out, Jesus,
- 2:57son of David, have mercy on me.
- 3:00The crowd told him to be quiet. Jesus stopped.
- 3:05In the middle of his journey, on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus stopped for one man.
- 3:11That stop changed. Barmas, life forever.
- 3:16Jesus never viewed people as interruptions. He viewed them as opportunities,
- 3:22to demonstrate God's love.
- 3:24Our calendars are full. Our phones buzz consistently.
- 3:29See what I mean? They do. They buzz consistently.
- 3:34Our minds are already thinking about what's next. So when someone interrupts
- 3:39our plans, we often see it as an inconvenience.
- 3:43But what if we're looking at it the wrong way?
- 3:47Imagine if the Good Samaritan had been in a hurry.
- 3:50Imagine if Jesus had ignored Bartimaeus because he had somewhere else to be.
- 3:56See, history would read very differently. Some of the most meaningful moments
- 4:01in our lives happen unexpectedly.
- 4:04A conversation in the grocery store.
- 4:06A coworker who quietly says, can I talk with you for a moment?
- 4:11A family member who simply needs someone to listen. Those aren't interruptions.
- 4:15Those may be divine appointments.
- 4:18God often works through the moments we never planned.
- 4:22The question is, are we paying enough attention to notice them?
- 4:26When we slow down, we begin to see people the way Jesus saw them,
- 4:32not as an obstacle, not as delays, but as souls deeply loved by God.
- 4:38So here's a heart check for you. Let's put together, who have you been too busy to notice?
- 4:47Who have you been too busy to notice?
- 4:50As your schedule becomes more important than the people God has placed in your path?
- 4:55Think about that question. Has your schedule become more important than the
- 5:00people God has placed in your path?
- 5:03Is there someone God has been prompting you to slow down for?
- 5:07Ask the Lord to help you see people through his eyes today.
- 5:11Here's your faith challenge. Today, don't rush. Don't rush the interruptions. Someone needs to talk?
- 5:19Listen, someone asks for prayer, pray with them. If someone needs encouragement, give it freely.
- 5:26Instead of asking, why is this interrupting my day?
- 5:30Change that and say, Lord, is this why you brought me here today?
- 5:36You may discover that your greatest ministry happens when your schedule changes.
- 5:41Today's takeaway. The interruptions in your day may be the appointments God
- 5:45has already placed in his calendar.
- 5:48You know, Jesus never hurried past people. He noticed them.
- 5:54He loved them, and he stopped for them.
- 5:57May we become people who aren't so busy chasing the next task that we miss the
- 6:02person standing right in front of us?
- 6:04Sometimes the greatest thing you can accomplish is.
- 6:07Won't be crossing something off your list. It will be taking time for someone who needed you.
- 6:13Amen. Heavenly Father, let's pray. Thank you for never treating us as an interruption.
- 6:19Even when we cry out to you in our weakness, you hear us, you see us,
- 6:25and you meet with us with compassion.
- 6:27Help us to slow down and notice the people you've placed in our lives.
- 6:31Open our eyes to opportunities to encourage, serve, and love others just as Jesus did.
- 6:37May our schedules never become more important than your purpose.
- 6:41Teach us to see every interruption as a chance to share your grace.
- 6:45In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
- 6:48Before we wrap up today's episode, I'd like to ask you for a small favor.
