Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: International correspondence with ins and Eye insurance, peace of mind
- 0:04Speaker 1: for New Zealand business. At thirteen to six, get a
- 0:08Speaker 1: greater UK. Hello Kevin other Andrew, you've got Zelensky. What's happening?
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, big meeting there in London, Lancaster House, right in
- 0:19Speaker 2: the heart of London. Plenty of people outside Downing Street
- 0:22Speaker 2: cheering when the President of Ukraine v Loto Mezzelenski arrived
- 0:27Speaker 2: and the Prime Minister. That really does reflect the strength
- 0:30Speaker 2: of feeling for the country. Now with you to get
- 0:32Speaker 2: a press conference in about ten to fifteen minutes, Andrew.
- 0:36Speaker 2: But you know, this is all about really trying to
- 0:38Speaker 2: work out how US Europe relationships are going to develop,
- 0:43Speaker 2: and also of course what can the Ukrainians expect now
- 0:47Speaker 2: from Europe. Will Europe step up and do the heavy lifting.
- 0:52Speaker 2: But even if they do that heavy lifting, by which
- 0:54Speaker 2: I may even mean boots on the ground, more money,
- 0:57Speaker 2: more arms, more logistics, they are demanding or they need
- 1:01Speaker 2: they stay American air cover. And that is something at
- 1:04Speaker 2: the moment that Donald Trump says he's not going to supply,
- 1:07Speaker 2: but we do know he flip blops. Yeah, I know.
- 1:10Speaker 1: But at the same time, this conversation is not about
- 1:12Speaker 1: continuing the war. It's about a piece. It's about having
- 1:15Speaker 1: a peace with a security guarantee, which everyone's getting a
- 1:18Speaker 1: bit confused. They think that Selenski now wants to carry
- 1:20Speaker 1: on with the war, but he wants to have a
- 1:22Speaker 1: security guarantee poots on the ground to make sure that
- 1:25Speaker 1: Putin doesn't come back once they come up with some deal.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, there was speculation, not confirmed, speculation that Donald Trump
- 1:33Speaker 2: thinks that if the American companies start digging for the
- 1:36Speaker 2: minerals in the east and north of Ukraine, by the
- 1:40Speaker 2: very fact they're American Putin, wouldn't you try and evade again.
- 1:44Speaker 2: But that's what the Europeans say is not right, and
- 1:47Speaker 2: that's why they want this proper action plan in place
- 1:50Speaker 2: for the peace.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Now. Pope Francis had a bit of a turn on Friday,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but he's come right a bit, yes.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I mean, I wouldn't say completely right, but he was
- 1:59Speaker 2: a call for the third week in a row, absent
- 2:02Speaker 2: and unable to deliver his traditional Angelus prayer in person.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Each week visitors go to the Vatican, usually gathering our
- 2:08Speaker 2: sent Peter Square to see the Pope. Third weekend, he's
- 2:12Speaker 2: not been there. He's spent most of that time in hospital.
- 2:15Speaker 2: He's still there, and it was said that he had
- 2:18Speaker 2: written the text from his hospital room in the past
- 2:22Speaker 2: few days and that was read out for him, and
- 2:25Speaker 2: he told Catholics around the world that he felt their
- 2:27Speaker 2: affection and closeness and said my quote, I feel as
- 2:30Speaker 2: if I'm carried and supported by God's people. He'd had
- 2:34Speaker 2: a peaceful night last night. But this was following, as
- 2:37Speaker 2: you said, a second breathing crisis as it was called
- 2:41Speaker 2: at the start of the weekend. He received extra oxygen report,
- 2:45Speaker 2: but we're being told he was not inturbated, in other words,
- 2:48Speaker 2: did not have one of those breathing tubes down his throat.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So positive news in that sense, but still a long
- 2:54Speaker 2: way from being out of the woods.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Kevin, I thank you so much for more from Early
- 2:59Speaker 1: Edition with Ryan and Bridge.
