Latest / Revelio: A Wizarding World Podcast / Episode 41: "Harry Potter" TV Show Teaser Trailer Breakdown
Transcript
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode forty one of Revellio for
- 0:15Speaker 1: April second, twenty twenty six. I'm Amy and I'm Nicole.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We have so much news.
- 0:35Speaker 2: We have so much news and so much to talk about,
- 0:37Speaker 2: so we're just gonna like dive right into it. I
- 0:40Speaker 2: was gonna say, ironically, right, we usually record and then
- 0:43Speaker 2: a ton of things happen, and we actually got really
- 0:46Speaker 2: lucky this time that everything kind of happened before we recorded.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We scrapped our original plan and yeah, here we are.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, we were going to talk about dear
- 0:57Speaker 2: dear Professor Lupman today, but he's getting put on the
- 1:00Speaker 2: back burner because there are some more pressing things. But
- 1:03Speaker 2: don't you worry, we'll be talking about him very soon.
- 1:07Speaker 2: So in this episode, we're obviously going to be talking
- 1:11Speaker 2: about the HBO Harry Potter teaser trailer that we got,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and we're going to be going through it frame by frame.
- 1:20Speaker 2: But first listening to w W in the Wizarding Wireless
- 1:29Speaker 2: Network now for the latest headlines. Obviously, the biggest news
- 1:35Speaker 2: was that we got like a teaser trailer, but there
- 1:37Speaker 2: is some other news that happened as well. There is,
- 1:40Speaker 2: but most of our news is still related to like
- 1:42Speaker 2: the TV show. So, but first I just want to
- 1:46Speaker 2: say that, you know, I talked a lot about everybody
- 1:49Speaker 2: going on and voting for our boy Tom Felton because
- 1:54Speaker 2: he was up for Favorite Broadway Debut for obviously Harry
- 1:57Speaker 2: Potter and The Curse Child at the twenty twenty six
- 2:00Speaker 2: iHeart Radio Music Awards and Tom won. Okay, I'm so
- 2:06Speaker 2: proud of him and it's so deserving and I'm really
- 2:10Speaker 2: glad that, you know, the fans showed up and voted
- 2:12Speaker 2: for him, and yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So it is kind of funny to me that, like
- 2:17Speaker 1: it's the iHeart Radio Music Awards, and by adding a
- 2:21Speaker 1: Broadway category, I'm sure they meant like Broadway music, but
- 2:27Speaker 1: Cursechild is not a musical. It's funny, but.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yes, it is. It is. I was thinking that too,
- 2:36Speaker 2: that it's and I can't remember the other like nominees,
- 2:40Speaker 2: but it would be like kind of funny if Curse
- 2:44Speaker 2: Child was the only thing that was nominated that is
- 2:48Speaker 2: just a play and not a musical. But yeah, either way,
- 2:53Speaker 2: Tom one, congratulations Tom. I know you're listening to this podcast.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well, so that's the first thing that happened. Also,
- 3:05Speaker 2: we talked about this Harry Potter of Hogwarts Express Adventure. Gosh,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't even remember when that was first announced. It
- 3:11Speaker 2: feels like it was forever ago.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Wasn't it like two back to Hogwarts Ago?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yes, it wasn't this past September. I think it was
- 3:18Speaker 2: the last September. It was part of that showcase that
- 3:21Speaker 2: we got and then like we all could go on
- 3:25Speaker 2: and sign up to learn more about it, but it
- 3:27Speaker 2: kind of just like has been just nothing. There's been
- 3:31Speaker 2: no nothing on it. But now there's been some casting
- 3:37Speaker 2: calls out for it, so I think hopefully this means
- 3:42Speaker 2: that we'll see something about it soon. At least it
- 3:46Speaker 2: proves that they haven't abandoned the idea. It's still brewing.
- 3:53Speaker 1: And from like the casting calls, it definitely seems like
- 3:58Speaker 1: this is like a lie of theater performance on.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they were looking tractors right like yeah, and.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Like puppeteers and stuff. So yeah, it's cool.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny that the most we've learned about this
- 4:12Speaker 2: is through the casting calls. They haven't put anything out,
- 4:16Speaker 2: so yeah, but I thought, yeah, that was I wanted
- 4:19Speaker 2: to include that because if you remember us talking about
- 4:22Speaker 2: that several several episodes ago. It is still a thing.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It's still there.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I'm closer to becoming a real thing, I think.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too. So now, like at this point,
- 4:34Speaker 2: we're pretty much going to transition to just talking about
- 4:36Speaker 2: the show for the rest of the episode. But so
- 4:39Speaker 2: a few bits of news around the show. So in
- 4:42Speaker 2: addition to us getting the trailer, I still can't believe
- 4:46Speaker 2: they're calling it a teaser trailer because this was not
- 4:48Speaker 2: a teaser trailer. This was a full blown trailer, Like,
- 4:51Speaker 2: in what world is a teaser trailer two minutes long
- 4:53Speaker 2: and has that much in it? But whatever, if I.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Was thinking it would be like a thirty second like
- 4:58Speaker 1: here's a couple clips, or.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Like just like fifty seconds like quick flashes, no dialogue. Yeah, so,
- 5:06Speaker 2: but either way, they're still calling it a teaser trailer,
- 5:08Speaker 2: so I guess that's what we'll call it. But we
- 5:11Speaker 2: also with the release of that, we learned that the
- 5:14Speaker 2: series is premiering this year Christmas of this year.
- 5:19Speaker 1: It's a shock, a big shock. It was just what
- 5:24Speaker 1: like a few weeks ago that they.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Were still saying twenty twenty seven.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they were like, how early in twenty twenty seven oh,
- 5:30Speaker 1: like the first quarter. That's all we can say. No, okay,
- 5:34Speaker 1: never mind.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty six I think, yeah, between that and just
- 5:41Speaker 2: what we got in this trailer, like I like I
- 5:44Speaker 2: had mentioned to you in like our chat, like we're
- 5:46Speaker 2: I mean, they're clearly further along than I thought they were,
- 5:49Speaker 2: which is exciting. Yeah, And I just I'm thinking that
- 5:54Speaker 2: this will just be in the little birthday present for
- 5:56Speaker 2: me because like my birthday is a day after Christmas,
- 5:58Speaker 2: so I'm considering this a birthday pre isn't for me?
- 6:01Speaker 2: And I yeah, I still cannot believe that it is.
- 6:05Speaker 2: We're literally like months away from getting this crazy crazy
- 6:13Speaker 2: We also got the official title of the first season
- 6:18Speaker 2: and it will be called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And I love that they went with that over Sorcerer's Stone.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah, keeping it original.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I'm sure a lot of people will be like, what
- 6:37Speaker 2: the Philosopher's Stone what? But obviously, you know, us fans
- 6:41Speaker 2: know that that is the title of the first book
- 6:43Speaker 2: in the UK, and it's only Sorcerer's Stone here in America.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So I'm really excited that they're going with that for
- 6:51Speaker 2: the show. So also, before we even kind of got
- 6:57Speaker 2: news that we were getting like a possible trailer. We
- 7:00Speaker 2: learned that several fans and influencers were invited onto the
- 7:05Speaker 2: set of the Harry Potter TV series and while they
- 7:09Speaker 2: weren't allowed to share much, if really anything at this point,
- 7:13Speaker 2: we did get some little bits of information. So I
- 7:18Speaker 2: definitely recommend heading over to the Leaky Cauldron dot org.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Our friends over at the Leaky Cauldron who were invited,
- 7:26Speaker 2: and there's a great article that they put out on
- 7:29Speaker 2: their website about what they can share and like the
- 7:32Speaker 2: feelings that they got being on set. So definitely recommend
- 7:34Speaker 2: checking that out. But one of the things I really
- 7:37Speaker 2: loved from the Leaky Cauldron article was the description of
- 7:41Speaker 2: the sets just feeling very connected and in a lot
- 7:48Speaker 2: of ways, Like you know, the article describes feeling connected
- 7:53Speaker 2: to like the books and like feeling just connected in
- 7:58Speaker 2: that kind of way, but also like literally connected the
- 8:01Speaker 2: sets literally being connected and not just being these like
- 8:04Speaker 2: separate sound stages that you typically would see, but you
- 8:09Speaker 2: can almost like move through these sets, which I think
- 8:13Speaker 2: is really cool and doesn't seem to be typical of
- 8:16Speaker 2: what you would see on a set.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah, all of the images were really cool that they
- 8:23Speaker 1: were able to actually share. I watched a ton of
- 8:28Speaker 1: these videos, but it's really cool, like they took these
- 8:32Speaker 1: people onto the Hogwarts Express and like had the trains
- 8:36Speaker 1: start up and start moving and you had like the
- 8:38Speaker 1: smoke coming up the windows. So yeah, very very cool experience.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I'm kind of curious to know when this visit actually.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Was, right, because it seems more like I don't think
- 8:54Speaker 2: so either, because it seems more like now there's just
- 8:57Speaker 2: been like a soft embargo kind of lifted, and then
- 9:00Speaker 2: they can talk about going, but it's still not even
- 9:02Speaker 2: like a full kind of embargo because they can't talk
- 9:05Speaker 2: about everything. So I'm literally like to all at the
- 9:10Speaker 2: same time, these all just appeared on my feet, right,
- 9:13Speaker 2: So it was very obvious, as of this day, you
- 9:16Speaker 2: can do this. And it obviously was very much time
- 9:18Speaker 2: to when they were planning to release this trailer and
- 9:21Speaker 2: to get the hype up.
- 9:21Speaker 1: So the day we got that picture from the official
- 9:26Speaker 1: Harry Potter pages that said tomorrow tomorrow with the picture
- 9:31Speaker 1: of Harry and his robes, so I'm sure.
- 9:33Speaker 2: It was months ago. Yeah, it had to be, and
- 9:38Speaker 2: it all happened and we didn't know we were, you know,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and the next time they need to, because I just
- 9:46Speaker 2: want to say that the like official Harry Potter website
- 9:51Speaker 2: and powers that be are really starting to lean into
- 9:55Speaker 2: the Revellio because in the official article where they talk
- 10:01Speaker 2: about this the trailer, they are like, Revellio, here's when
- 10:05Speaker 2: this is coming out, and here's when the title is.
- 10:08Speaker 1: And it's like, you know, this better not mean they're
- 10:10Speaker 1: going to like crack down and sue us for our name.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Oh like trademarket.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Well, maybe we don't want them focused on Rebellio.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe Okay, and we shout them out a lot,
- 10:23Speaker 2: and so maybe, yeah, maybe we need to say this
- 10:25Speaker 2: kind of small little podcast that is niche and they
- 10:28Speaker 2: don't know about that's a good call. Well, yeah, they've
- 10:31Speaker 2: really been leaning into the to the Revellio. I've never
- 10:34Speaker 2: heard the charm used so much as I have since
- 10:39Speaker 2: we made this podcast called but Yes. So what we
- 10:46Speaker 2: did learn as well from these visits and that we
- 10:49Speaker 2: have at least seven new scenes that have been confirmed
- 10:53Speaker 2: that will be part of the series. So one of
- 10:56Speaker 2: them is getting to see Hermione receive her Hogwort letter.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm so excited about that. Like, I've always been curious
- 11:05Speaker 1: about how that went down, Like did she believe it
- 11:09Speaker 1: right away? Like hermione like being as intelligent as she
- 11:13Speaker 1: is and like so based in fact, like how would
- 11:17Speaker 1: she accept that just be like yeah, magic exists.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I've I agree. I've always wondered like how would
- 11:27Speaker 2: it feel to be like a moggle born child and
- 11:30Speaker 2: to get that letter?
- 11:32Speaker 1: I like her parents were just like on board, like
- 11:36Speaker 1: as dentists, like oh yeah, there's definitely this wizard school.
- 11:39Speaker 1: We'll take you and just kind of drop you off
- 11:41Speaker 1: on this train, bye.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Bye, no problem, Like and it's so funny because it's
- 11:49Speaker 2: I think about like if like the Sign of the Times, right,
- 11:53Speaker 2: because it's like it comes obviously as a letter, Whereas
- 11:55Speaker 2: like I think about like now like in twenty twenty six, right,
- 11:59Speaker 2: I mean I'm sure Hogwarts would still send a letter,
- 12:01Speaker 2: but think about just like more modern forms of like
- 12:04Speaker 2: you get this like email and you're like this is spam. Bye,
- 12:11Speaker 2: this is an AI generated letter. That's what I would
- 12:14Speaker 2: think as a muggle born child, like chat GBT wrote
- 12:18Speaker 2: this letter and somebody is sending it to me as spam.
- 12:21Speaker 2: But yeah, so I'm excited to see that too, because yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 2: I agree, Like what was you know what was her reaction.
- 12:28Speaker 2: And I think too, like we talked about this in
- 12:31Speaker 2: a past episode about I am very curious to see
- 12:34Speaker 2: how they navigate these additional scenes that aren't like we
- 12:40Speaker 2: know they happened, but obviously we don't see them in
- 12:42Speaker 2: the book because we only get like Harry's perspective, and
- 12:47Speaker 2: so there is like, while this is going to you know,
- 12:50Speaker 2: they're saying this is going to be a very faithful
- 12:51Speaker 2: book adaptation, there's obviously going to be these like ancillary
- 12:55Speaker 2: scenes that weren't in the book, and so I'm really
- 12:57Speaker 2: curious to see how they navigate that in how they
- 13:01Speaker 2: if they feel like, Okay, yeah, this is probably how
- 13:04Speaker 2: this actually would have happened. But yeah, I'm excited too.
- 13:11Speaker 2: We've also found that we're going to get a deeper
- 13:13Speaker 2: look into Dumbledore's past, which I'm very intrigued.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I'm surprised this is happening this early, like in season.
- 13:24Speaker 2: One, right and I and I was assuming too that
- 13:30Speaker 2: these things also meant season one and not just the
- 13:34Speaker 2: series in general, because everything else kind of here is
- 13:37Speaker 2: something that we would kind of see in season one,
- 13:40Speaker 2: with the exception of another bullet point we'll talk about.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so maybe it's not referring to season one.
- 13:46Speaker 2: That's what I'm not I'm kind of like, yeah, there's
- 13:49Speaker 2: a few things that come on later on that I'm like, wait,
- 13:51Speaker 2: why would this be in season one? So I'm wondering
- 13:55Speaker 2: if this is just in general some things that we're
- 13:57Speaker 2: definitely going to get over the course of this series.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I could totally see them adding in some more about
- 14:03Speaker 2: Dumbledore in the season, especially because it's like we kind
- 14:10Speaker 2: of started to introduce that with you know, Fantastic Beasts,
- 14:13Speaker 2: and then we know what happened there, So I guess
- 14:19Speaker 2: kind of maybe a little tied to this, but I
- 14:21Speaker 2: don't think it's actually tied to this, And this is
- 14:22Speaker 2: something we already kind of knew, but we know that
- 14:25Speaker 2: we're going to see Nicholas and Pronel Flamel, which again
- 14:29Speaker 2: was leaked when we got some of the leaked shots
- 14:32Speaker 2: of them filming, you know, on the beach, But now
- 14:36Speaker 2: I guess we got more official confirmation that that's definitely
- 14:39Speaker 2: what was happening there. Also, there's going to be full
- 14:44Speaker 2: pensive memory sequences shown in order, and this is the
- 14:49Speaker 2: other bullet point that I think we were both referring
- 14:51Speaker 2: to about like Okay, maybe this is just talking about
- 14:53Speaker 2: things we're going to get over the course of the series.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Right, because this would not be in season one.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Unless they're about to add something like drastically different. Oh,
- 15:05Speaker 2: but yeah, I'm really curious, like and also like who's
- 15:09Speaker 2: Pencieve memories? Dumbledore? Like is this tied to like Dumbledore?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Is this I mean, is this Snape's memories? Because in
- 15:17Speaker 1: the movies we didn't get correct so this could be
- 15:22Speaker 1: referring to that and seeing Snape's worst memory in full.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It could be both, like we could just get who knows, Yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 2: I mean I do.
- 15:34Speaker 1: So half Blood prints, all of the Pencive memories, all
- 15:41Speaker 1: of that got cut in the movies, getting that Bob Ogden,
- 15:46Speaker 1: all of those things, which those are such good chapters, Like, yeah,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I really do hope that that's what this means and
- 15:53Speaker 1: we get to see those I.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Think it does, because I think if you're you know,
- 15:58Speaker 2: if they're telling us we're going to get the full memories,
- 16:01Speaker 2: which there are a lot of them over the course
- 16:03Speaker 2: of the books, and they're really pushing this is a
- 16:05Speaker 2: faithful book adaptation. I do think we can correlate with
- 16:08Speaker 2: these two things, and that we will see a lot
- 16:11Speaker 2: of those chapters.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And obviously we're going to talk about this way more
- 16:14Speaker 1: when we talk about the trailer, But if you also
- 16:17Speaker 1: want to kind of stick to that theme of those
- 16:21Speaker 1: very real world themes and issues and storylines that happen
- 16:29Speaker 1: kind of outside of the magic, these are a lot
- 16:33Speaker 1: of those moments. So I would not be shocked if
- 16:36Speaker 1: they do include these. I mean, if you're thinking about
- 16:40Speaker 1: the gaunts and Maropi and like all of the abuse
- 16:43Speaker 1: that's happening there, that does make it a very dark
- 16:49Speaker 1: and realistic situation. Yeah, this would make sense in kind
- 16:58Speaker 1: of what we've seen so far in just this trailer.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Really, yeah, I mean I would say, like for sure
- 17:04Speaker 2: we're getting that stuff, especially because like this is HBO
- 17:08Speaker 2: and like they're gonna do They're gonna do that stuff,
- 17:10Speaker 2: and I'm excited for them to do that stuff.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I think it's important. It's the important parts of the
- 17:16Speaker 1: story that, like I feel like, shouldn't just be glossed over,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and I think do often get clossed over in favor
- 17:23Speaker 1: of the quote unquote whimsy. I don't know how many
- 17:26Speaker 1: times I've seen that word on the internet over the
- 17:29Speaker 1: past few days.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I have too now, I I've never word I know,
- 17:32Speaker 2: I've never used that word like really in my like
- 17:35Speaker 2: everyday life, but now it's like the word that I'm
- 17:38Speaker 2: seeing the most to describe about this this series. So yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 2: but yeah, we'll get We'll get into that more when
- 17:48Speaker 2: we talk about maybe, like you know, our overall thoughts
- 17:50Speaker 2: of the trailer before we kind of dive in. So
- 17:52Speaker 2: I'm really excited for that bullet point in particular. So
- 17:57Speaker 2: we also are going to get more classroom moments, which
- 18:00Speaker 2: is really exciting because you know, some of my you know,
- 18:04Speaker 2: f and I know we've talked about this on the podcast,
- 18:06Speaker 2: like some of our favorite chapters are just those everyday
- 18:10Speaker 2: class or moments. And yes, this is Harry's story, but
- 18:14Speaker 2: it's also like the story of like Hogwarts and like
- 18:16Speaker 2: this whole other world that like exists beyond what the
- 18:21Speaker 2: Muggles know, and like part of that is I'm going
- 18:23Speaker 2: to school and classes, and obviously a TV show gives
- 18:27Speaker 2: us the room to explore that more. So I'm excited
- 18:31Speaker 2: for that. One thing in particular that was mentioned was
- 18:35Speaker 2: like history of Magic lectures with Professor Binns with of
- 18:38Speaker 2: course you know, he got cut from the film, so
- 18:40Speaker 2: really excited to see that being part of the show.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And he better enter through the blackboard, That's all I'm saying.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Oh, I truly believe that they will keep that, Like,
- 18:54Speaker 2: based on some of the things I've seen already at
- 18:56Speaker 2: this trailer and moments that are in the trailer, I
- 18:59Speaker 2: think that they will do that because right also, like cinematically,
- 19:04Speaker 2: that's really something to do. And yeah, I'm I'm excited
- 19:09Speaker 2: for the classroom moments for sure, and we already kind
- 19:14Speaker 2: of get a little bit of a tease of that
- 19:15Speaker 2: right in the trailer, Like they already show us classroom
- 19:18Speaker 2: moments in the trailer, so they're definitely doing that. We're
- 19:22Speaker 2: also going to get to see the Gryffindor girls dormitory.
- 19:25Speaker 2: We obviously spend some time in the boys dormitory in
- 19:27Speaker 2: the films, but you know, it looks like we're going
- 19:30Speaker 2: to be following Hermione around a little bit, maybe more
- 19:34Speaker 2: than we did in the films.
- 19:36Speaker 1: This is cool because like I feel like we don't
- 19:38Speaker 1: get to see a lot of the interactions between the
- 19:42Speaker 1: female students and Harry's here, so like that's kind of fun.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I want to see that. I want to see how
- 19:47Speaker 1: they all interact in the dormitory, like, you know, I.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Want to see yeah, Hermione because we always just see
- 19:58Speaker 2: her talking with the boys, and I just want to
- 20:01Speaker 2: know that she also got the girl's girl experience too,
- 20:06Speaker 2: you know, So yeah, I'm excited for that. And then lastly,
- 20:12Speaker 2: the reason behind the mark on Ron's nose.
- 20:18Speaker 1: The mark that has been plaguing us for twenty years.
- 20:22Speaker 2: You know, until I read this, I didn't realize how
- 20:26Speaker 2: much I actually want to know more about that dirt
- 20:31Speaker 2: on his nose and how did how did missus Weasley
- 20:36Speaker 2: not see it and let him carry on with it?
- 20:42Speaker 2: I do want to know more about that that we
- 20:45Speaker 2: forgot to add that in our Unanswered Questions episode.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so funny because, like I don't know, I
- 20:54Speaker 1: feel like, because I was the kid who watched the
- 20:59Speaker 1: movie first, for watching the books, my brain connected the
- 21:04Speaker 1: repair of the glasses to somehow putting a smudge on
- 21:08Speaker 1: Ron's nose. Because then the way that sequence goes, it
- 21:12Speaker 1: like reads like, oh, she removed dirt and tape from
- 21:15Speaker 1: Harry's glasses instead, which I know is totally not it,
- 21:21Speaker 1: but it's so funny. It wasn't until like a while
- 21:24Speaker 1: later when someone else said that they thought that it
- 21:26Speaker 1: was freckles on his nose. I was like, oh, so
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's not from the glasses.
- 21:33Speaker 2: That's so funny. I'm gonna have to think of that
- 21:35Speaker 2: next time I watched Sorcerer's Stone, because yeah, I just like,
- 21:41Speaker 2: but you know, because like, obviously Ron doesn't just always
- 21:43Speaker 2: walk around with dirt on his face, so like there
- 21:46Speaker 2: is a very specific reason why he had dirt on
- 21:49Speaker 2: his nose that morning, of all mornings, to have dirt
- 21:52Speaker 2: on his nose. So I am so excited that we're
- 21:56Speaker 2: gonna find out what happened press some things. The show
- 22:01Speaker 2: is answering our pressing questions. So yeah, so that obviously
- 22:05Speaker 2: we're going to have so many other other new scenes,
- 22:08Speaker 2: but these are the ones that we do have some
- 22:09Speaker 2: confirmation of, so that is really exciting. And hopefully over time,
- 22:14Speaker 2: like we'll still get to learn more. I do know
- 22:17Speaker 2: in the Leaky Cauldron article, you know, it mentions like
- 22:20Speaker 2: over the next several months being able to show more things,
- 22:23Speaker 2: So I think we'll slowly start to get to see
- 22:25Speaker 2: more about what they learned from this set visit, which
- 22:29Speaker 2: is such a good I mean from a marketing standpoint,
- 22:32Speaker 2: like this is a really good way to like build
- 22:34Speaker 2: up some hype and momentum leading up to the premiere,
- 22:38Speaker 2: because yes, like as a they can officially put out stuff,
- 22:44Speaker 2: but like it is a pretty good marketing strategy to
- 22:47Speaker 2: kind of also get fans and influencers and stuff to
- 22:51Speaker 2: kind of also show things.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah, what a huge secret to keep. Yes, because I
- 22:59Speaker 1: was watching so of these videos from this visit, and
- 23:03Speaker 1: one of them said that they actually watched back the
- 23:08Speaker 1: rough footage that they had filmed that day, so like
- 23:10Speaker 1: they saw dailies, they saw the footage on the set.
- 23:16Speaker 1: That's crazy. And then to have to keep that secret,
- 23:20Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, how long I.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Guess good on all of them because I mean nothing,
- 23:27Speaker 2: I mean nothing. I have not seen anything leaked about.
- 23:30Speaker 2: This was such a surprise to me, and usually I'm
- 23:34Speaker 2: chronically online, so I usually see something somewhere that is leaked.
- 23:39Speaker 2: So I get good on you all for being great
- 23:42Speaker 2: secret keepers.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah, good job you pulled it off.
- 23:49Speaker 2: But yeah, but I'm excited to see what else they
- 23:51Speaker 2: can release over the you know, the next couple of months.
- 23:53Speaker 2: So and then the last little thing that I kind
- 23:55Speaker 2: of wanted to include because I saw this last night
- 23:59Speaker 2: and I was just like, Wow, this is crazy. But
- 24:02Speaker 2: the trailer ended up at the time of me, I
- 24:06Speaker 2: don't know. I mean, it's this is the first forty
- 24:08Speaker 2: eight hours, so it's obviously had even more since then.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I mean, I've watched it so many times since the
- 24:14Speaker 2: first forty eight hours. But the trailer has had over
- 24:18Speaker 2: two hundred and seventy seven million views in just the
- 24:23Speaker 2: first forty eight hours.
- 24:26Speaker 1: That's insane.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Yes, and this has made it the most watched trailer
- 24:32Speaker 2: in HBO and HBO Max history. And now remember HBO
- 24:37Speaker 2: has had some pretty heavy hitters like Game of Thrones,
- 24:41Speaker 2: so this has been the most watched trailer in history
- 24:44Speaker 2: by more than double Wow, insane.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Harry Potter does the numbers, I guess it does.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And so you know, I know, we talked in a
- 24:58Speaker 2: few episodes back about you know, them talking about like
- 25:02Speaker 2: what this will the streaming what was the word the quote,
- 25:05Speaker 2: like the streaming events of the decade or something like that. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 2: I think that they're pretty I believe with that. I
- 25:12Speaker 2: think if they can pull these numbers just of people
- 25:15Speaker 2: curious to tune into the trailer, yeah, I think they
- 25:19Speaker 2: probably were actually onto something with saying that so yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So yeah, for anyone who asks why are they making
- 25:28Speaker 1: a remake? The first was so successful? The numbers, the numbers,
- 25:34Speaker 1: This is why they're making a remake.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Because they know that people will watch it. Yeah, there
- 25:40Speaker 2: will be a lot of people who.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Don't, but there's the significant amount the yes.
- 25:46Speaker 2: So yeah, So that's like the main the main news.

- 26:17Speaker 1: so obviously our main discussion, as we said, is just
- 26:21Speaker 1: continuing to talk about this TV show because we got
- 26:25Speaker 1: bombarded this week with the TV show. We started out,
- 26:33Speaker 1: of course, with those set visits, and then we knew
- 26:36Speaker 1: we were getting something the next day.
- 26:39Speaker 2: And the boy did they make us wait that day.
- 26:44Speaker 2: It did not drop until like what was it like?
- 26:48Speaker 2: It was like, yeah, it was late afternoon, which is
- 26:51Speaker 2: I just am like, oh my goodness, so.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Really built up the momentum there, or the ni patient
- 27:00Speaker 2: They didn't build up the momentum, They slowed it down.
- 27:03Speaker 2: They built up my anticipation, Yes.
- 27:05Speaker 1: They did, so before we like go through this frame
- 27:11Speaker 1: my frame. Uh, first impressions, Nicole, what did you think?
- 27:18Speaker 2: So, I mean, I guess I'm going to preface this
- 27:21Speaker 2: by saying that, well, I mean, I think again too.
- 27:25Speaker 2: It's been pretty obvious in our past episodes that, like, personally,
- 27:31Speaker 2: I'm really excited for the show. So my I will
- 27:36Speaker 2: say that I do think my impressions are going to
- 27:40Speaker 2: tend to skw pretty positive here.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Yeah, So I.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Cried, And I've actually cried every single time that I've
- 27:53Speaker 2: watched this trailer since. And I'm so surprised by how
- 27:57Speaker 2: much I like just instantly teared up. And I want
- 28:01Speaker 2: to say too, I think like getting a trailer, Like
- 28:04Speaker 2: I know, this was supposed to be a quick first impression,
- 28:06Speaker 2: but like I my quick first impression was I really
- 28:11Speaker 2: love the trailer. There we go. That's my first quick impression.
- 28:13Speaker 2: So and I actually, and I know this is maybe
- 28:17Speaker 2: a not even a controversial opinion, but a different opinion.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I actually really liked the direction they took this trailer,
- 28:24Speaker 2: in which I know has been the source of a
- 28:26Speaker 2: lot of critiques that people have had about the trailer.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Is that they do not like the tone and the
- 28:34Speaker 2: direction that this trailer went. I actually am on the
- 28:37Speaker 2: other side where I actually do really love the tone
- 28:39Speaker 2: in the direction this trailer went. Well, We'll talk more
- 28:41Speaker 2: about that for sure, but I think that one thing
- 28:44Speaker 2: that this trailer did for me was confirm that I
- 28:52Speaker 2: am on board with this and I'm going to be
- 28:54Speaker 2: okay with this because I think as much as like
- 28:57Speaker 2: I was, you know, really like positive about the show
- 28:59Speaker 2: and excited about the show and everything that the show
- 29:02Speaker 2: could bring, I still have reservations like, r it is
- 29:06Speaker 2: still scary, and even though I'm on board, I still
- 29:08Speaker 2: have reservations like it's still scary to see this being readapted,
- 29:13Speaker 2: and especially when I think we have such a great
- 29:16Speaker 2: adaptation already. And I think it also too is weird
- 29:22Speaker 2: to see other people in these roles. But I will
- 29:25Speaker 2: say that the trailer for me personally made me realize
- 29:31Speaker 2: it isn't as weird as I thought it would be
- 29:33Speaker 2: to see other people in these roles. And for me, though,
- 29:38Speaker 2: that does not mean that I'm like the day that
- 29:45Speaker 2: it was either the day that the trailer came out
- 29:47Speaker 2: or the next day I was flipping through TV channels
- 29:50Speaker 2: and SORCER's Stone was on and I put it on
- 29:55Speaker 2: and I was like, it's like I watched the trailer, right,
- 29:58Speaker 2: and I was like, Oh, there's Harry. And then I
- 30:01Speaker 2: like watched the movie and I was like, Oh, there's
- 30:03Speaker 2: Harry and the and the brain is funny, right, There's
- 30:08Speaker 2: a reason why I have three degrees in psychology. Our
- 30:10Speaker 2: brains are funny and it's and I would love to
- 30:13Speaker 2: study if I was still in psychology, I would do
- 30:16Speaker 2: research on this, Like I would want to do research
- 30:18Speaker 2: on how we are able to like separate them but
- 30:24Speaker 2: still feel the same way about it, Like I want
- 30:28Speaker 2: to study that because I just couldn't believe how quickly
- 30:33Speaker 2: I think when we were getting like when we found
- 30:36Speaker 2: out about the show, and when we were getting pictures
- 30:39Speaker 2: and set leaks, like it still was very like hypothetical, right,
- 30:44Speaker 2: Like we were seeing these pictures and we're like, oh,
- 30:46Speaker 2: Dominic's so cute, and it is so wit it's Harry,
- 30:48Speaker 2: and it's so cute as Harry. But like seeing the
- 30:51Speaker 2: pictures of it and thinking about it is much different
- 30:56Speaker 2: than seeing it in motion with dialogue and costumes and movement.
- 31:02Speaker 2: And I was scared that once we took that step
- 31:05Speaker 2: of seeing it played out that I'd be like, Okay,
- 31:10Speaker 2: I can't, like I can't. I was excited, but now
- 31:13Speaker 2: this is I can't, and I'm so glad that, like
- 31:20Speaker 2: I don't feel like that. I don't feel that way
- 31:23Speaker 2: because I was. I was a part of me, like
- 31:25Speaker 2: I haven't voiced it, but a part of me was
- 31:27Speaker 2: a little scared that like once we finally got actual footage,
- 31:31Speaker 2: that I would be like, no, I don't want I
- 31:35Speaker 2: don't like this. But the fact that I had instant
- 31:38Speaker 2: tears the second we hear Petunia, I was like, Okay,
- 31:45Speaker 2: I'm invested, Like I'm emotionally invested. So that was kind
- 31:52Speaker 2: of everything that went through my head when I first
- 31:55Speaker 2: watched this trailer what about you.
- 32:02Speaker 1: We're not gonna have much variety this episode, So I'm
- 32:04Speaker 1: gonna apologize because I also loved it. And it's so
- 32:09Speaker 1: funny because the internet is so torn, Like I see
- 32:13Speaker 1: people who absolutely love it and are like, this is beautiful,
- 32:17Speaker 1: it's perfect, It's exactly what I wanted. I'm so glad
- 32:20Speaker 1: they didn't ruin it. And then you've got the other
- 32:22Speaker 1: side that's like I hate this, what are they doing?
- 32:25Speaker 1: I can't believe they're ruining this, and it's like it's
- 32:29Speaker 1: funny that there's no like space between but personally, yeah,
- 32:38Speaker 1: I like same. I know I've been very positive about it,
- 32:41Speaker 1: but like I was a little bit worried, and I
- 32:43Speaker 1: guess I still am like a little worried because until
- 32:46Speaker 1: we actually see it, I'm like, there's so much that
- 32:49Speaker 1: could go wrong, but this trailer pleasantly surprised. I also
- 32:57Speaker 1: felt myself getting like a little bit of myal which
- 33:02Speaker 1: is funny because usually I feel like the emotions in
- 33:06Speaker 1: that regard would come from like hearing sound cues and stuff.
- 33:12Speaker 1: We didn't get Headwig's theme and this trailer right, but
- 33:15Speaker 1: like I got that same kind of feeling that I
- 33:19Speaker 1: used to get when the WB logo would come up
- 33:21Speaker 1: on the screen and the movie theater and the music,
- 33:24Speaker 1: and so I don't know, I guess it's just that again,
- 33:31Speaker 1: like the psychology of it is fascinating, but I think
- 33:34Speaker 1: that I think it's really the story. It's just because
- 33:40Speaker 1: the characters are different, the sets are different, the music
- 33:43Speaker 1: is different, everything's different, but the story the store same
- 33:49Speaker 1: And like I have that like visceral connection to the
- 33:52Speaker 1: story of like, oh, my gosh, this is it. This
- 33:55Speaker 1: is Harry Potter, and like personally, like I just got
- 34:01Speaker 1: really excited that in the first what fifty seconds of
- 34:05Speaker 1: this trailer is all the stuff that happens before Hogwarts
- 34:11Speaker 1: that we never get in the movies. Like, I got
- 34:14Speaker 1: so excited seeing I mean, we're going to talk about
- 34:17Speaker 1: it all, but like seeing Harry at the Mugguls school,
- 34:22Speaker 1: Petunia and the haircut and like just all this stuff,
- 34:26Speaker 1: like it just I don't know, like it just sold
- 34:32Speaker 1: me on it in a way that I guess I
- 34:35Speaker 1: didn't expect to get sold on it.
- 34:39Speaker 2: I know exactly what you mean, and I think that
- 34:41Speaker 2: it's you know, it's again too right. It's one thing
- 34:44Speaker 2: to kind of constantly be told we are doing a
- 34:46Speaker 2: faithful book adaptation, we are doing a faithful book adaptation,
- 34:50Speaker 2: Like okay, but what does that mean, because you're telling
- 34:52Speaker 2: me you're adding all these scenes in, right, But then
- 34:54Speaker 2: to like get this trailer and just really be hit
- 35:00Speaker 2: with like book moment after book moment and you're it
- 35:05Speaker 2: just for me, it gave me that confirmation of like, okay,
- 35:08Speaker 2: like I actually think they are committed to doing like
- 35:10Speaker 2: a faithful book adaptation here with some flourish added in.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I mean, I literally was. I made my boyfriend watch
- 35:19Speaker 2: the trailer last night because I really wanted to get
- 35:21Speaker 2: like his reaction.
- 35:22Speaker 1: And I should have recorded his reaction it.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it was right. It wasn't as exciting as I
- 35:28Speaker 2: thought it was gonna be. But he he liked swiler.
- 35:32Speaker 2: He did like it, but he also doesn't have that
- 35:34Speaker 2: like connection to the books like that we do. So
- 35:36Speaker 2: I remember I watched it, and I like watched it
- 35:38Speaker 2: again because I was like, hey, we got to watch
- 35:40Speaker 2: this a couple of times because I got to get
- 35:41Speaker 2: it in my brain for this recording. And then when
- 35:43Speaker 2: we watched the second time, I literally like paused it.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I was like, look, we're saying Harriet Muggle School. And
- 35:49Speaker 2: then like I paused again. I'm like, look and Petunia,
- 35:51Speaker 2: she's cutting his hair right now and it grows back,
- 35:53Speaker 2: and he just looked at me like I was just like,
- 35:57Speaker 2: you don't understand how I was exciting it is for
- 36:00Speaker 2: us to see these book moments. I think he's happy
- 36:04Speaker 2: for us forgetting about moments, but he didn't, you know.
- 36:07Speaker 2: So then I was like, Okay, you go back to
- 36:09Speaker 2: what you're doing and I'll watch the trailer. But you know,
- 36:12Speaker 2: the other impression actually that I had when I first
- 36:14Speaker 2: watched it is remember when we talked about how they
- 36:17Speaker 2: were mentioning that this was going to be more like
- 36:19Speaker 2: what I don't remember the quote they said, but like
- 36:21Speaker 2: natural or realistic, and I didn't really know what they meant.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I instantly know what they mean watching this trailer. I remember,
- 36:31Speaker 2: like in my head thinking, I know exactly what they
- 36:34Speaker 2: meant by that quote. M h. And I'm actually no
- 36:38Speaker 2: longer scared about that quote, because that quote kind of
- 36:40Speaker 2: scared me at first, because at the end of the day,
- 36:43Speaker 2: this is still a magical school. This is still a
- 36:45Speaker 2: fantasy story, So what do you mean you're going to
- 36:49Speaker 2: make it look natural and real? But like, and again
- 36:52Speaker 2: the jury is still out right, there's a lot we
- 36:54Speaker 2: haven't seen. This trailer doesn't really show us a lot
- 36:57Speaker 2: of the magical, fantastic elements of the story, so maybe
- 37:02Speaker 2: they will fall short of making that look real. Like,
- 37:06Speaker 2: So to your point, there's a lot we haven't seen here.
- 37:09Speaker 2: But I also, yeah, I know what they mean now,
- 37:12Speaker 2: and I'm okay with that. And I really noticed it
- 37:18Speaker 2: too watching that trailer and then watching Sorcerer's Stone like
- 37:21Speaker 2: I instantly. So obviously the color scheme, it's much darker,
- 37:25Speaker 2: and I know that's a lot of the critique that
- 37:28Speaker 2: a lot of people have said it's lost the color
- 37:32Speaker 2: and you still do notice that, you know, as soon
- 37:34Speaker 2: as you watch Sorcerer's Stone. But to me, I don't
- 37:39Speaker 2: think that's personally a bad thing. I think that there's
- 37:43Speaker 2: a lot of fear or there was a lot of
- 37:45Speaker 2: reservation around why are we even doing this when we
- 37:47Speaker 2: have the movies, and so I think, like I'm I
- 37:52Speaker 2: want them to make it different because then in my
- 37:54Speaker 2: brain it helps separate them that much more. It doesn't
- 38:00Speaker 2: look like a replacement to me at all. It looks
- 38:02Speaker 2: like a completely new thing, but familiar because it's the story.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Like you said, at the end of the day, it's
- 38:09Speaker 2: still the story.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think too a lot of the reason
- 38:13Speaker 1: why we haven't gotten a lot of the magic is
- 38:18Speaker 1: they aren't done filming yet. Like I think that's really
- 38:22Speaker 1: important to note. They are still filming. They did film
- 38:26Speaker 1: a lot of these Muggle world scenes first, as we
- 38:30Speaker 1: know from all of those leaked photos of them in
- 38:33Speaker 1: public and Privet Drive and all that stuff. So there's
- 38:38Speaker 1: a practical reason why those scenes are so heavily featured
- 38:41Speaker 1: in this trailer. But also, and like I know, I
- 38:45Speaker 1: said this to Nicole and our conversation right after the
- 38:49Speaker 1: trailer came out, in that I feel like the trailer
- 38:53Speaker 1: itself follows a story arc and that we start in
- 38:58Speaker 1: the real world. It's not bam in your face, here's
- 39:01Speaker 1: boy wizard. Magic is putting you into the story and
- 39:06Speaker 1: the people and the heart, which is like the root
- 39:09Speaker 1: of those stories anyway, and taking you in through that
- 39:14Speaker 1: journey through the darkness that is the start of Harry's
- 39:19Speaker 1: life at the Dursley's, And then by the end of
- 39:22Speaker 1: the trailer, we're getting these happy moments of Harry and
- 39:28Speaker 1: Ron laughing and they're on the Hogwarts Express and they're
- 39:31Speaker 1: in the common room, and there's magic and there's Hagrid
- 39:34Speaker 1: making a snow angel and like all sorts of like
- 39:38Speaker 1: happiness explosion going on with like quick cuts and things.
- 39:41Speaker 1: So it's kind of showing that arc of how things
- 39:46Speaker 1: start out really bad, yeah Harry, but then it's happy
- 39:49Speaker 1: and like hopeful and magic.
- 39:52Speaker 2: So yeah, I think that's like a really really good
- 39:56Speaker 2: call out, and I think that it the way that
- 39:59Speaker 2: they struck Sure this trailer like one that is exactly
- 40:03Speaker 2: how it is, right from the way it opens to
- 40:06Speaker 2: like the first words we hear and you know, and
- 40:10Speaker 2: to your point, like Harry's story is not just instantly
- 40:14Speaker 2: whimsy and magic. There's a lot that happens in his
- 40:18Speaker 2: life before he gets to that point, and you know,
- 40:22Speaker 2: and unfortunately you know or not unfortunately, but the nature
- 40:25Speaker 2: of a film is that you have to condense things
- 40:30Speaker 2: into a very small timeframe, and so of course they're
- 40:34Speaker 2: going to cut that stuff out of the film. I
- 40:36Speaker 2: don't fault the films for that at all. I don't
- 40:37Speaker 2: think I would have touched on any of that at all.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I love how they start that first film, But that
- 40:43Speaker 2: first film does kind of just throw you right into
- 40:46Speaker 2: I mean we literally are like looking at these people
- 40:49Speaker 2: in wizard robes and watching a lady transform into a
- 40:51Speaker 2: pat like we're right there, you know. And then of
- 40:54Speaker 2: course then we cut into some some Dursley moments. But
- 41:00Speaker 2: I do love that this, Yeah, just the thematic nature
- 41:06Speaker 2: of this trailer, like and you know, Amy and I
- 41:10Speaker 2: talked about too, like yes, there is a lot of
- 41:13Speaker 2: joy and whimsy and magical and fun and joy and
- 41:19Speaker 2: all of that stuff that is part of the Harry
- 41:21Speaker 2: Potter story, but like it also is a very there
- 41:26Speaker 2: is a lot of sadness. There's a lot of darkness,
- 41:29Speaker 2: there's a lot of dark themes. Yes, this is a
- 41:32Speaker 2: children's story, but like, I mean, there is a lot
- 41:35Speaker 2: of dark themes here and I think that, you know,
- 41:41Speaker 2: I do, Yes, I do think the show, like we said,
- 41:43Speaker 2: we'll explore that more, and I do think this trailer
- 41:46Speaker 2: told us the story that it will you know, explore
- 41:49Speaker 2: that more. But yeah, I really like that kind of
- 41:51Speaker 2: look at it in terms of, you know, Harry wasn't
- 41:55Speaker 2: thrown right into the magical world and so like we're
- 41:58Speaker 2: not going to be either. Yeah.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so obviously those who are far from quick first impressions,
- 42:06Speaker 1: but it had to be said it's all good stuff
- 42:09Speaker 1: because I think it's important.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, we can go scene by scene too,
- 42:12Speaker 2: you know, but it's also important to like how the
- 42:15Speaker 2: overall trailer made you feel, And it made me feel
- 42:19Speaker 2: a lot, Like I really started thinking about like how
- 42:22Speaker 2: this is you know, making me feel, And I think
- 42:25Speaker 2: again too, like I do want to preface like obviously
- 42:28Speaker 2: it's very apparent Amy and I have very positive feelings
- 42:31Speaker 2: about the show and about this trailer. So of course
- 42:34Speaker 2: I think that the rest of this episode is going
- 42:36Speaker 2: to be us looking at it in a very positive way.
- 42:38Speaker 2: But like that, you know, I think like all opinions
- 42:42Speaker 2: are valid here, and you know, and I have enjoyed
- 42:45Speaker 2: really hearing the perspective of people who really didn't like it,
- 42:48Speaker 2: and like hearing what they didn't like about it and
- 42:50Speaker 2: hearing the critiques about it, because it does make me
- 42:52Speaker 2: like start to look at, you know, things differently, and
- 42:57Speaker 2: and so yeah, the discourse online has been really interesting because,
- 42:59Speaker 2: like you said, it has seemed very like black and white,
- 43:02Speaker 2: and I haven't really seen a lot of like the gray,
- 43:04Speaker 2: I think because maybe the people that are in the
- 43:06Speaker 2: middle are just not you know, It's like you get
- 43:08Speaker 2: people who post when they're really excited about something and
- 43:10Speaker 2: people who post when they're really not, and then the
- 43:12Speaker 2: people that are in the middle just sometimes don't weigh
- 43:15Speaker 2: in on the conversation. But yeah, it's just been really
- 43:18Speaker 2: fun to kind of see all the you know, the
- 43:20Speaker 2: discourse online.
- 43:22Speaker 1: It feels like the old days, getting content in everyone
- 43:27Speaker 1: talking about it.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think that, like you know, I will say,
- 43:32Speaker 2: like I do still agree given everything I do still
- 43:36Speaker 2: agree that, like we did not need this remake right now,
- 43:46Speaker 2: but I'll take it, and I do I do like
- 43:52Speaker 2: that it is bringing Obviously Harry Potter has like been
- 43:54Speaker 2: a right right, It's never died away. It's like one
- 43:56Speaker 2: of the franchises that it's just always like kind of
- 44:00Speaker 2: still bent around and the theme parks are still filling
- 44:02Speaker 2: up and people are still going to the shops and
- 44:05Speaker 2: but you know, so it's it's never really died away.
- 44:08Speaker 2: But there is something exciting about it being back in
- 44:12Speaker 2: the conversation in this way, in a way that it
- 44:16Speaker 2: hasn't been in a while. And it's and it's exciting
- 44:19Speaker 2: because I do think this is new content. I mean,
- 44:22Speaker 2: and obviously we had Fantastic Beasts right that kind of
- 44:24Speaker 2: was this it started to bring it back up. But yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 2: it's exciting to see people like talking about it again
- 44:30Speaker 2: and like analyzing things like we're about to do analyzing
- 44:33Speaker 2: these scenes, and it just reminds me of like the
- 44:37Speaker 2: good old days when we used to you know, be
- 44:41Speaker 2: able to theorize and and and like for that, I'm
- 44:45Speaker 2: for that. I am grateful for it, for bringing it
- 44:48Speaker 2: back up into our lives in this way. If that
- 44:52Speaker 2: makes sense, Yeah, I have that makes sense. Yeah, well
- 44:57Speaker 2: let's get into the trailer.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Let's do it, okay. So we open on this like
- 45:05Speaker 1: slow pan inside number four Private Drive, where in the
- 45:10Speaker 1: entryway of the house with the stairs. It's the floor
- 45:14Speaker 1: plan is like the same. You've got the stairs to
- 45:19Speaker 1: the right with the cupboard under them. Vernon Dursley can
- 45:23Speaker 1: be seen down the hallway in the kitchen. He's sitting
- 45:26Speaker 1: and he's reading a newspaper. This wallpaper is hideous.
- 45:33Speaker 2: And it is so fitting for them.
- 45:35Speaker 1: It is like.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Pale pink with like floral I think is what it is.
- 45:43Speaker 2: There's like a lot of pink here. There is a
- 45:45Speaker 2: lot of pink in here. You know. Petunia really was
- 45:47Speaker 2: like I'm decorating this house.
- 45:50Speaker 1: There's like a picture in a frame and it looks
- 45:52Speaker 1: like it's cat. It's very like umbrage hash.
- 45:57Speaker 2: It's so bad, but it's so bad, but it's so
- 46:02Speaker 2: like durs.
- 46:04Speaker 1: You know.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Yes, I also want to add to it's really if
- 46:08Speaker 2: you you know, you get this feeling. But I just
- 46:11Speaker 2: love that. Like if you watch the trailer with subtitles on,
- 46:15Speaker 2: like it literally starts with ominous music playing and it
- 46:19Speaker 2: is I mean like literally that first like music note
- 46:24Speaker 2: that we get. It sets a tone and it's like
- 46:27Speaker 2: similar to how you were saying, like you know, you
- 46:29Speaker 2: get that feeling when you watch and the WB logo
- 46:31Speaker 2: comes on and the music comes on. I agree, it
- 46:35Speaker 2: gave not the same feeling, but it gave an similar feeling.
- 46:40Speaker 1: I'm curious to know what the actual music of this
- 46:43Speaker 1: show is going to sound like, because this is like
- 46:46Speaker 1: obviously a placeholder.
- 46:48Speaker 2: And I also wanted to add that because I have
- 46:50Speaker 2: seen a lot of discourse online that are like this
- 46:54Speaker 2: music is not Harry Potter, like this is not and
- 46:58Speaker 2: this John Williams, You're not right, And I don't think
- 47:02Speaker 2: that this is I don't think that this is music
- 47:04Speaker 2: from Hans Zimmer. This doesn't sound like traditional Hans Zimmer.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And also like trailers traditionally, like especially early trailers, like
- 47:13Speaker 2: do not have there's like there are composers that specifically
- 47:18Speaker 2: right trailer music, and a lot of trailers do not
- 47:22Speaker 2: use the actual music that is in the films. So
- 47:26Speaker 2: like this might be I mean, this might be right,
- 47:29Speaker 2: this might be something that Hans wrote up or whatever.
- 47:31Speaker 2: But I got the impression that this was just trailer
- 47:35Speaker 2: music that was used to set the tone here. It
- 47:38Speaker 2: sounds very stereotypical trailer music to me, So I think, like,
- 47:47Speaker 2: like with the music, like just take a pause, and like,
- 47:51Speaker 2: we really can't judge what the music will sound like
- 47:54Speaker 2: in the show until we get the full score for
- 47:57Speaker 2: the show, right, or maybe more trailers where maybe we'll
- 48:01Speaker 2: finally get I think they're waiting to reveal the new theme.
- 48:05Speaker 2: There's gonna be a theme. There's gotta be a theme,
- 48:08Speaker 2: and it's we don't have it in this trailer. I
- 48:11Speaker 2: do not think it is in this trailer. So we
- 48:15Speaker 2: just got to wait and see. But Patients said, yes, patience.
- 48:21Speaker 2: But having said that, I actually really like the.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Music in t I probably I don't mind it either.
- 48:26Speaker 2: I love trailer music, so I really loved it, and
- 48:29Speaker 2: I think it worked really well with the scenes that
- 48:31Speaker 2: they did. But I do not think that this is
- 48:33Speaker 2: the tone of what our music is going to be
- 48:35Speaker 2: for this whole series.
- 48:36Speaker 1: No, no, okay. So the first voiceover we hear is
- 48:43Speaker 1: from Petunia and it starts with I told you, and
- 48:48Speaker 1: we see Harry getting shoved into the copboard.
- 48:51Speaker 2: He's thrown in Amy, let's not sugarcoat it. That is
- 48:55Speaker 2: not a shove he is thrown into that cupboard.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's rough. We get like an overhead shot of
- 49:03Speaker 1: Harry laying on his little mattress on the floor in
- 49:05Speaker 1: the cupboard, and I just wanted to note that this
- 49:07Speaker 1: cupboard looks like way more cramped and way more cupboard
- 49:12Speaker 1: under the stairs than in the films. Like this looks
- 49:16Speaker 1: a lot worse and a lot more dire, which I
- 49:20Speaker 1: guess is leaning into that darker side that we kind
- 49:23Speaker 1: of knew HBO was going to do. Yeah, this is.
- 49:29Speaker 2: I agree. There is nothing cozy about this cupboard. It's
- 49:34Speaker 2: very dark, it's very crammed. There's a lot of stuff
- 49:37Speaker 2: in there. I think even Harry's mattress and sleeping arrangements
- 49:41Speaker 2: look much more worse, yeah than in the film.
- 49:48Speaker 1: In the film, he had like at least his toys,
- 49:51Speaker 1: like his little like chest people and the little nice
- 49:54Speaker 1: and stuff.
- 49:55Speaker 2: This, I mean, I'm looking at the shelves. I don't
- 49:59Speaker 2: I mean, there's we don't get it's such a quick
- 50:05Speaker 2: view that we get of the shelves, but I don't
- 50:08Speaker 2: see anything that would be like his possessions. It literally
- 50:16Speaker 2: just looks like a cupboard with random I mean, there's
- 50:19Speaker 2: some pictures and stuff. I mean, we obviously don't know
- 50:21Speaker 2: if he put those up. There's a lot of stuff
- 50:23Speaker 2: hanging like on the walls, but it's too dark to
- 50:26Speaker 2: really be able to kind of see. I can see
- 50:28Speaker 2: there's like a penguin picture, like the only thing I
- 50:30Speaker 2: can kind of like make out, but even like his
- 50:32Speaker 2: I mean, there's no sheets on the mattress. There is
- 50:39Speaker 2: there is one little light I see, there's one little
- 50:42Speaker 2: little overhead light that's hanging.
- 50:45Speaker 1: But the light from the grate in the door, right
- 50:49Speaker 1: which we know she probably jail cell esque.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Poor Harry.
- 51:02Speaker 1: So the voiceover continues, so obviously we heard the first
- 51:05Speaker 1: part that I told you. The second part of that
- 51:07Speaker 1: is you are a normal boy, so trying to force
- 51:14Speaker 1: him and conform him to their Dursley world. We get
- 51:21Speaker 1: a close up low shot of feet running through the
- 51:24Speaker 1: school hallway, so we know this is the Muggle school
- 51:27Speaker 1: that Harry's attending, and we hear Petunia say, and you're
- 51:32Speaker 1: going to start acting like one, and we get some
- 51:37Speaker 1: more poor baby Harry abuse happening here. Two boys slam
- 51:43Speaker 1: him against a wall in the boy's bathroom, and Dudley
- 51:49Speaker 1: is coming towards him, so This is clearly Dudley and
- 51:52Speaker 1: his cronies. This school looks like super bland and miserable too.
- 52:13Speaker 2: The only bit of it's funny because when they're in
- 52:15Speaker 2: the bathroom, like my eyes were instantly drawn to like
- 52:18Speaker 2: the hand drawn wash your hands sign because it's the
- 52:21Speaker 2: most like color or like exciting bit of like anything,
- 52:27Speaker 2: you know, and obviously like I went to like elementary
- 52:30Speaker 2: school and stuff in America, right, So, like, I I
- 52:33Speaker 2: don't know if this is what like primary schools looked
- 52:37Speaker 2: like in the UK, like in the nineties. I'm assuming
- 52:43Speaker 2: maybe if any any any British listeners let us know
- 52:47Speaker 2: if like the you know, did your schools look like this,
- 52:50Speaker 2: you know, in the nineties. I know, like the uniforms
- 52:53Speaker 2: obviously are a huge part of British school culture, but
- 53:00Speaker 2: very blue.
- 53:01Speaker 1: It just kind of looks like where personality goes to die.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Like Okay, I mean, I know, I just said it's
- 53:10Speaker 2: not very colorful, but then the wall behind Harry is
- 53:12Speaker 2: like this mustard yellow. But you know, yeah, I think
- 53:16Speaker 2: are our point still stands.
- 53:19Speaker 1: So the next scene that we cut to is Petunia
- 53:22Speaker 1: cutting Harry's hair, which we know as book readers that
- 53:29Speaker 1: Harry's hair just keeps growing back no matter how much
- 53:33Speaker 1: Petunia cuts off, and we hear her say you think
- 53:38Speaker 1: you're something special, There is nothing special about you.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I do love with this scene how they hold on
- 53:48Speaker 2: let me kind of well, I'm playing the trailer as
- 53:50Speaker 2: we're going through this, so if we pause at any
- 53:52Speaker 2: point while we're talking, it's probably because we're rewinding a
- 53:56Speaker 2: little bit. And I definitely recommend all of you to
- 53:58Speaker 2: pull up the trailer too while we're talking about this.
- 54:00Speaker 2: We didn't say that already. I do love how that
- 54:04Speaker 2: scene opens, Like I love how they shot this, and
- 54:08Speaker 2: it's like this overhead shot of looking down and you
- 54:11Speaker 2: can just see all of the hair on the floor,
- 54:14Speaker 2: and even if like I think it just it portrays
- 54:19Speaker 2: without even saying that, like like there's more hair on
- 54:22Speaker 2: the floor than like what is cut off Harry's hair,
- 54:25Speaker 2: So like if you can kind of put two and
- 54:26Speaker 2: two together, if you're not a book reader, like I
- 54:29Speaker 2: could see they I think they did a good job
- 54:31Speaker 2: portraying like, Okay, something interesting is happening here, because based
- 54:35Speaker 2: on how much hair is on the floor, like he
- 54:37Speaker 2: should have less hair on his head, right, And I
- 54:41Speaker 2: just love it right, yep. This scene actually when I
- 54:46Speaker 2: watched it, like and this, I mean again is maybe
- 54:49Speaker 2: just a credit to like Dominic's acting, but like in
- 54:54Speaker 2: this scene, like when Harry like winces, I actually visibly winced,
- 55:00Speaker 2: like I was in pain, like like I had a
- 55:03Speaker 2: visceral reaction to watching this scene and like I could
- 55:07Speaker 2: feel this is maybe when the tears started. I don't
- 55:10Speaker 2: even know when they started, but I could feel for Harry.
- 55:16Speaker 2: And again I think maybe for us, like we know
- 55:19Speaker 2: the story, we love these characters, like, so I think
- 55:21Speaker 2: our reaction is probably like if this wasn't Harry Potter,
- 55:25Speaker 2: I don't know if I would like start wincing and
- 55:27Speaker 2: crying at a scene of someone getting their hair cut,
- 55:29Speaker 2: even if they look visibly distressed. Obviously it's Harry, so
- 55:32Speaker 2: I'm going to but I just I just kudos to
- 55:35Speaker 2: like just what we saw in the scene, because it
- 55:38Speaker 2: definitely made me feel something strongly.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think too, Like I was looking and
- 55:45Speaker 1: I read something where someone said that it seems like
- 55:49Speaker 1: a lot of book readers are excited about this trailer,
- 55:54Speaker 1: specifically for these moments, and a lot of people who
- 55:57Speaker 1: primarily are fans of the movies not so much have
- 56:02Speaker 1: a more negative reaction. And I think that makes sense
- 56:06Speaker 1: because if you're a fan of the books, you kind
- 56:12Speaker 1: of can make the connection to what's going on here.
- 56:16Speaker 1: If you haven't read the books, it could be a
- 56:19Speaker 1: little weird to be thrown into a haircut.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't, you know, I gotta go back. I
- 56:25Speaker 2: got it. Well, no, I ruined it already because I
- 56:26Speaker 2: already told my boyfriend what's happening there. I should have
- 56:29Speaker 2: asked him in the moment, like what he felt about that.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think he thought of anything,
- 56:33Speaker 2: because it's like I think that they do a good
- 56:35Speaker 2: job of you know, we know that Petunia despises him,
- 56:40Speaker 2: and you can see it on yes, And so I
- 56:43Speaker 2: think you could, maybe as a non book reader, like
- 56:46Speaker 2: just see it as another scene of like how awful
- 56:49Speaker 2: it is for Harry at that house. But obviously as
- 56:52Speaker 2: book readers we know the greater significance of this scene
- 56:56Speaker 2: because also to Harry, like why the heck is my
- 56:59Speaker 2: hair growing at this point? You know, normal boy, nothing
- 57:02Speaker 2: special about you, but like I'm literally watching your hair
- 57:05Speaker 2: grow back in real time, Like, clearly there's something different here.
- 57:08Speaker 2: So we know there's a deeper meaning there. But yeah,
- 57:11Speaker 2: I could see how someone just randomly watching this trailer
- 57:13Speaker 2: is like.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Like, what, yeah, Patina looks great. I I really love her.
- 57:24Speaker 1: I loved fantastic.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I agree. I have seen some critiques there that, like
- 57:28Speaker 2: the again that the Dursleys just do not look at all,
- 57:31Speaker 2: like how you know everyone imagined them, And I think to, like,
- 57:39Speaker 2: I don't know. I thought that.
- 57:41Speaker 1: It's hard when we've had such great actors already portray
- 57:45Speaker 1: that it is hard to separate. But no, I I
- 57:49Speaker 1: like how she looks.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I think she's I think, yeah, if you can really
- 57:52Speaker 2: put the actors of the films just like out of
- 57:56Speaker 2: your mind temporarily when you're watching it. And I think
- 58:00Speaker 2: think again too, like once we see like everything in action,
- 58:04Speaker 2: like obviously, acting is so much more than looks, right,
- 58:07Speaker 2: Like it's not really even about looks, it's how somebody
- 58:10Speaker 2: can portray a character. And I think we and we
- 58:13Speaker 2: talked about this, like when you go to see Kurse Child,
- 58:16Speaker 2: like I never question that that's not Harry Ron and
- 58:18Speaker 2: Hermione because they embody the characters. And so I do
- 58:21Speaker 2: think once we can actually see these full scenes and
- 58:24Speaker 2: see everything, it might help I think it will even
- 58:28Speaker 2: help me to be able to suspend my disbelief even
- 58:32Speaker 2: more in that like these are the characters, because if
- 58:35Speaker 2: they have the mannerisms and they can embody the character,
- 58:37Speaker 2: like at least for me, I will be able to
- 58:41Speaker 2: see them as a character. And I know it's not
- 58:43Speaker 2: it's not that that like not everybody can do can
- 58:46Speaker 2: think it that way, but I yeah, I thought she
- 58:51Speaker 2: looked great too, obviously a very different look than what
- 58:54Speaker 2: we have in the films, But I don't know, I
- 58:57Speaker 2: still I still see Petunia when with what in her
- 59:00Speaker 2: demeanor and how she's talking, And I just I love
- 59:05Speaker 2: everything about the fact that they started this trailer with Petunia.
- 59:10Speaker 2: I really love that and the specific lines that they chose.
- 59:18Speaker 2: I don't know, it just it worked for me to have.
- 59:20Speaker 2: For I would have never thought that our first, the
- 59:22Speaker 2: very first line of dialogue that we ever get to
- 59:25Speaker 2: hear from this series. I would have never guessed that
- 59:28Speaker 2: it was going to be Petunia dur But I'm here
- 59:32Speaker 2: for it, and it works.
- 59:34Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm more surprised about that or
- 59:37Speaker 1: the Christmas twenty twenty six release.
- 59:40Speaker 2: No, that did surprise me more. But I was very
- 59:44Speaker 2: surprised that the first dialogue we heard was from Petunia.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so we got to Harry walking through the
- 59:56Speaker 1: entryway of the house and he's looking through the mail.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: That's where we hear that last about you kind of
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: punch in that line, and we get a close up
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: of the Hogwarts letter addressed to him, of course in
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: the emerald green ink.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm as mean Alima, I will say, this
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: is like the first I actually I don't I don't
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: actually have no, I have no problem with this letter.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: But it's just yes, yeah, which is what I think
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: it would be. And they kept it's the tan envelope
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: with the emerald green ink. But I in that moment,
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: I was like, oh, why couldn't they just get me
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: and Alima to also do this project. I did have
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: that thought, But.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Then we would be all like, oh, but why are
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: they keeping it the same?
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: I agree because I think we should. I know, because
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: I think if me and Alma did do this project
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: as well like they would, it would still be different
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: because they I think again, like, if we're going to
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: do this again, let's make it different, because we do
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: not need to repeat what we already have. We already
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: have great adaptation. We do not need to repeat it.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: I don't want to see them repeat it, so it's
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: probably for the best. But I missed our little Miraphora
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: enve'lopen this moment. But I actually really like the handwriting
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: on this one too. Actually, yeah, so bright.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: After that, we see the Hogwarts letter, the music swells,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: We get our title card and it says a new
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: HBO original series, and then we're on the London Underground.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: So we see Harry shot through the window of the
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: moving train and we hear a line of dialogue from Harry,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: so we get I've always wanted to know about my parents.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I'm just getting to this part of the trailer, okay,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: So then we cut to inside the train and we
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: see Harry and Hagrid sitting and having their little conversation.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: And I love this and I love that they're on
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: the tube, and I love seeing Hagrid crammed in the
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: tube and the one had underground it was known as
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: the Tube for those two who don't know. And I, yeah,
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: he just looks so cute next to Hagrid, Like every
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: scene where he's next to Hagrid, it's just little, so little,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: and I think, like and I know, like you know,
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: a lot of people have said too, like really seeing
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: And I don't know if it's because, like I mean,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: when I go back and watch like the original, like
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: the first films, I also have that same feeling of like, wow,
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: they're so little. But like something about seeing like these
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: the TV show actors just makes me like really realize
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: how young and little they are. And I don't know
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: if maybe I didn't feel that way when like the
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: movies came out because I was also still younger, Like
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: I wasn't as young and little as them, but like
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: I was younger, so I'm like, oh, these kids are
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: only a little bit younger than me. We're here now,
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, a fully fledged adult and they're
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: like so little, and I'm just like they're so little
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: and Harry, but it reminds you too that, like when
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: all of this is actually happening in the story, like
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: they are all still so young and so little. I
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: think sometimes we forget that because we've gone through all
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: the books, right, and we've watched them grow up, and
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: like just to be reminded, like be put back at
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: the beginning, yeah, and really realize, like Harry's just a
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: little baby, like.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: They're eleven year olds and all the stuff they have
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: to deal with in this first installment is crazy.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Yeah. So then we get our line from Hagrid and
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: he says, your parents were the bravest and kindest people
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I ever met. They were funny and clever. So I
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: do have to say that strangely, Hagrid is kind of
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: the first moment that did sort of take me out
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: of this trailer a little bit. I know, chackkra I'm
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: gonna have something negative to say. I think his costume
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: looks excellent. I don't know what it is. Something about
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: the hair I think kinda was like, I don't know
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: if you hit that exactly.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Right, which I think didn't. We talk about that though
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: when we got the like the character photo of him.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I feel like one of the things we talked about
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: was the way, I don't know, the way his beard
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: was or like there was something about something about.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: Right, yeah, And I don't know what it is. I
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: think it's this is the one that was hard for me,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I think, to let go of Robbie Coltrane and there's
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: nothing I can pinpoint.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I know, I agree, but I don't have any It's
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: like I don't have any like critiques against.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Is it?
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Nick Frost's like, I don't have any critiques about, Like
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I think what he did right here, like there's no
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: question to me that this is Hagrid. Oh yeah, And
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: then we'll talk about a Hagrid scene later in the
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: trailer that like my feelings actually kind of like changed
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: in a more positive way. But I do know what
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: you mean, Like I don't know.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I think I just don't time to like sit with
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: him as Hagrid and see more from him as Hagrid
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: to like fully connect the character and what I'm seeing.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: But yeah, the coming, like I said, looks excellent. And
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I know we've talked at length about how the costuming
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: for Hagrid is book description costuming like spot On, So
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: that's why it looks like the film costume because both
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: followed the book description. But yeah, his costume looks great.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: So we get an extreme closeup of Harry's glasses in
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: this moment, like.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: It's his eyes. We're looking at his eyes, and I
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: can't tell I still look kind of blue, but I can't.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: I also can't because blue and green eyes like depend
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: like sometimes depending on the lighting, like but I do
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: feel like that's I wonder if that's what they were
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: going for there, because obviously, in this moment, we're talking
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: about Harry's parents, and obviously we know Harry's eyes is
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: obviously Harry key to the plot, and it's related directly
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: to his parents. So I do think that that's like
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: the shot that they were going for here. That's what
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: I picked on when they did the shot, was like, all,
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: we're talking about the parents, now we're zoning in on
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Harry's eyes.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I thought that they were going for the scar because
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: this close up gets his reaction and then immediately moves
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: up to the scar on his forehead.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: And yeah, yes, and I was, and I was, yeah,
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: And it's so funny because it's like I might be
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: looking at it deeper. They might not have been talking
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: about like, oh, we're talking about his parents, let's show
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: his eyes. But then I like saw It's like, oh,
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: they're showing his eyes, and now they're showing the scar.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: And Harry got that scar because his parents died for
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: him and had their love for him.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: Well, that's the connection I made with the scar. Yeah,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I didn't think about, Yes, that's what I picked up
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: on it I was like, oh, well, they're talking about
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: his parents dying and the scar is the result of
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: that night, so yeah, we better show it in this moment.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Yes, yep.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Yeah, And then we hear the line from Hagrid and
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: they stood up for what they believed was right, which
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: also makes sense with seeing the scar.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: He says that literally when they like, show the score
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: the scar. Yeah. I also, I know we talked about
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: when we got pictures of them. I think we talked
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: about we all really actually liked what they did with
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: the scar, and they made it look much more natural,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: and now we're kind of seeing it more in action
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: versus just a photo. And my thoughts remain that I
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: think I really like what they did with it, and
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: it looks like a very natural scar and it works,
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: and I liked it. It's more subtle, but it's very
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: obviously there, right, and most of us don't have lightning
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: bolt shaped scars, so it's still very prominent. But I
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: like it. It looks good.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: You know, it's awfully convenient in both this TV show
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: and the movies that Hary's hair just you know, grows
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: and naturally parts right where that scar would be visible
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: doesn't cover it.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Ever, I was just thinking that. I was like, Wow,
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: he did not even need to, like, you know, move
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: his hair, and he reaches up to touch it, and
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: it's like he just knows exactly where it is. Like
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: there's no feeling, like perfectly in the I'd have to
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: like feel around, like where's that scar? He just knows
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: right where it is. And but yeah, his hair is
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: perfectly parted to accentuate it. And yeah the films did
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: that too, like you never had his scar was never
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: covered up. You always had to make sure you saw it.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Otherwise, how do we know it's him?
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: It's his? Uh, like Peter Parker Superman moment. If the
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: scar is covered, you're like, where's Harry? And then the
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: second the scar appears, oh my god, oh gosh.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: Harry and Hagrid leave the underground and then we get
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: the King's Cross Station interior. So we see Harry standing
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: and he's looking around. We've got passengers bustling by him, and.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: She forgot some thing, doesn't he say? The next time
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: I'll see you will be at Hogwarts. Before then, before
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: we see the inside.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's stirring that hang on.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Oh it starts, he starts it when they're on the
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: stairs and he like ruffles his hair, and then it
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: goes into when he is yes, the interior moment when
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: he ruffles his hair.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: These were like some of those first images we got
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: leaked to this part. Yeah, so he says, the next
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: time we see you will be at Hogwarts. We see
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Harry running with his trolley and the owl cage.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Can I just say that I do really love, like,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I think one they did a really good job at
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: like making this look so nineties, Like I do think
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: like the film maybe fell a little short there, like
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: it didn't it did. It definitely didn't look like the
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: time it came out. But it also like they've just
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: done a really good job at capturing like the nineties
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: early nineties aesthetic, like in just looking at the people
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: like in the background at the train station.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. Yeah, So we hear the train whistle and
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: we fade out from black on Harry sitting inside the
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: compartment of the train and he's looking out the window
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: to where Missus Weasley is hugging Ron on the platform.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: This is such a cute moment.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: To have, so yes, and I also just want, like
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: sorry to go back to the other scene, I'm really
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: excited to just like get our first glimpse at Headwig.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Like obviously Hedwig looks like Hedwig because white snoy owl,
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: but like he's so excited to see Headway. But yeah, yes,
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: so this next scene is my favorite shot in the
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: whole trailer.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: And I.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Don't want to take full credit for like what I'm
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: about to say that I love about the scene because
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: I saw somebody else post about it and then I
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: went back and watched it and I was like, oh
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: my god, probably not what they were going for, but
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: I love this interpretation. So like, right, yes, so we
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: have like Harry looking, like you said, looking out the
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: window at this lovely moment of Ron and Missus Weasley,
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: and obviously, you know, he's thinking about, like, wow, what
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: it would be like to have like a mom and
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: like to have that moment, and of course, like no, no,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: Harry goes there by himself, you know. But then when
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: we like transition and the shot flips and we get
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: to see like little Ginny in the corner, and like,
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: obviously she's looking at her mom and Ron, right, but
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: the way that the shot is done makes it look
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: like she's looking at Harry in this like loving way,
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: and I just love that because it's like, obviously we
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: know that like all of these people become his family, right,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: but obviously like him and Ginny get married, and she
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: like ultimately becomes like his like number one connection family
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: in their marriage, and it's like, I don't know, it's
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: like Harry and Ron or like missus Weasley and Ron
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: are having this lovely moment and Harry's there by himself
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: and Ginny's over there by herself, and her reflection is
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: just like gazing at Harry and like they're gonna be
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: together in the future. And I just saw this interpretation
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: of this scene and I was like, wow, I love that,
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: love that, and I was like, I want to share
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: that interpretation with the entire world, or at least with
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: everyone who's going to listen to this podcast. Again, I
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: cannot remember, I cannot credit my source. If it was
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: just a TikTok comment, I don't remember where it was.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: But like, I totally implore you to go back and
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: watch the scene with that lens.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: That is really good. I would have never thought of that. Nope,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: and tell you what I did think of. I mean,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: we're looking at this reflection in Harry's looking in it.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: I thought of the mirror of aarsaid and how Harry
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: sees his parents and sees family in the mirror of aarsaid.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Here we are watching him see another family in this reflection.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Mm hmm. I and I think your interpretation is probably
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: way deeper than filmmakers would ever think in this moment.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: And that's why because we're fans, and I'm sure in
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: the moment too. When I was showing this to my
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: boyfriend last night, I also told him about my thoughts
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: about Genny and he was like, I think that we're
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: just seeing the reflection.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: I was like, I just thought this was a cool shot,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: but yeah, and I'm.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Like, you know, you're probably right, but I think it's
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: really amazing that Genny's off there on her own and
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: she's looking at Harry and this is about to become
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: his family. And yet and to your point with the
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: reflection in the mirror, like right, like you know, when
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: he looks in the mirror of Eraside, he sees a
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: family that he cannot obtain anymore, but like here, in
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: this mirrored reflection, he is seeing a family that like
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: is going to become his family, and like, Oh, you're
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: like a little emotional about that, So yeah, I like it.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: I This shot right here is just my entire my
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: favorite shot of the entire trailer for all these reasons
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: we just talked about. There's so much symbolic knitness of
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: this one shot.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Whether that's what they intended or not, we'll never know.
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: But we're fans and we come up with crazy fan
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: theories and we take it that deep.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Yep. So then right after this shot, we cut to
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: the next title text, which is based on the beloved
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: books by JK. Rowling. Then we've got sorry fast forwarding. Yeah,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: we've got Hogwarts Express pulling into Hogsmead's station. So our
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: first glimpse at that.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: It looks pretty the same looks like, same station.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: Yeah, not much to say there.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: The train looks good. We can comment on the train, yep.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I remember when we saw the pictures of that train
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: being driven down the highway.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: I do really love the like the lighting that's back on,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: like the stone like wall and it's like the little
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: like they're not floating because they're obviously on the wall,
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: but I just think they look like little like fireflies,
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: like because I just like the lighting it's pretty little
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: light fixtures.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Yeah. So the next shot we get is Hagrid in
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: the group of first years. They're making their way through
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: the woods obviously you know, to the lake as we know,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: and they're all carrying lanterns. And then we get a
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: close up of the door knocker on Hogwarts.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: I love this because it times really perfectly with the
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: music in this moment too, again, which is why I
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: think this is just trailer music, because it the way
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: it fits into the scenes.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, definitely. Then we see the entrance hall of Hogwarts.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: First glimpse at Hogwarts. This has been controversial, lots of
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: discourse about what we've seen of Hogwarts. Yes, and I
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: have thoughts too, What are your thoughts? I will say
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: that I don't know. I don't know if it looks
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: as grand as I think it should. But it's also
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: just the entry way into a building, so like how
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: grand I guess should it look? I I don't know.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: I think that maybe, like you know, where you said,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: like Hagrid was like your first moment of the trailer
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: where you were kind of like, eh, this might have
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: been mine. I actually but the more I the more
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: I watch it, and the more that I like, look
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: at it. I have less problems with it than I
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: did at first, but I think upon my first watch,
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: like this part was a little jarring to me. I
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: do agree with like everybody talking about like, whoa, it's
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: really dark. However, like it is an old castle building
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: that is like lighting is like candles and stuff in lanterns,
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: So it's not gonna be like walking into a place
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: that has overhead lights and LEDs, you know. And obviously
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: in the films the castle was still a castle, right,
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: and it's not like they had overhead lighting. But I
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: agree in the film it did look much brighter. But
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: I also think that this totally fits the old like
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: medieval castle vibes. Yeah, Hogwarts is it's very dark.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: There's not gonna be a lot of windows the interior stone.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: This is exactly how that would look like, right when
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: you think about it. So the more I thought about it,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: I'm like, no, okay, I love. We get to see
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: like our first look at the banners, we get amy,
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: we're fully represented in this shot. We got the ruffle
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: puff and Slytherin that you can see more clearly. We
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: get our first look at the new emblems. A little
- 1:19:59Speaker 2: bit you can see Slytherins. When you zoom in, you
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: can see Slytherins much more.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, hufflepuffs is a little hard to.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: See because it's like creased. Yeah. But yeah, those were
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: my initial kind of thoughts where I was not. I
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: didn't I wasn't underwhelmed. I wasn't upset about it. But
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: I did have an initial like, Okay, this is Hogwarts
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: and it didn't feel like Hogwarts. But then the more
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: I sat with it and the more I watched it,
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: But I don't know, what did you think when you
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: first saw this.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: I didn't mind it. I guess I was focused more
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: on mcgonagal than I was on the architecture.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I went right to the architecture and the signs.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: I really loved the welcome to Hogwarts first year's sign. Yeah,
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: I actually really really loved that.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Yeah that's nice. Yeah.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: I guess I I don't. I don't have anything positive
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: or negative really about it.
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I think it's just kind of there. I think something
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: that now that I'm looking at it closer, I'm wondering
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: about On the left, there's like a column, but it
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: looks more like a tree trunk.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: So there are yeah, the one like all the way
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: like right behind the door. I think it is a
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: column modeled after like a tree trunk, like I really
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: feel because I don't think it's actually But then it's
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: weird because there are like it looks like little trees
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: like in the corner. So I'm almost like, do they
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: literally have like a full blown tree up there? But
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: at the same time it's the same color.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Is this what they meant by natural?
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: We're going to put more plants in our.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: Trees are supporting the castle.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Right, But yeah, it does. It looks like a I mean,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I guess we'll have to wait and see when we
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: can get that full shot, but it does absolutely look
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: like a tree trunk. And I never know is that
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: until this moment.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so this is our first to look at
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: McGonagall as well. She looks great. I think.
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: I agree. It was a little I will say again
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: with like how you felt with Hogwarts, Like it was
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: a little jarring to not see Maggie Smith, but it
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: was it was like a quick thought for me, and
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: then I was like, but this she looks great. Like
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: it was like I was like, oh, Maggie, but this
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: woman looks great.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Her glasses, love them.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Oh, I love her glasses. I love her hat. The
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: look on her face is very McGonagall. I think she'll
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: be great just from this one shot. I could be wrong,
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: but from this one shot I have positive vibes. Masiness
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: is there.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Oh yes, absolutely. We also get our first shot of
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: the sorting hat.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you think of the sorting hat?
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Looks like the sorting hat?
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, I agree. Yeah, he's a little bit
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: more I mean he's darker and a little bit more mangled.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: But it could also just be the lighting. Obviously, the
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: lighting here is a bit more, a bit more darker.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: He looks more like a a he it looks more
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: like a darker brown versus the more I don't know,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: cognac nature, the one in the film.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, almost like a black.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so so dark brown that it is almost it
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: is almost black. I mean it might even be, but
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure it's probably a dark dark brown. Really
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: interesting to see how it looks when it's animated. Yeah.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Obviously we have a still shot here, and then.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: We hear mister Potter as we're seeing the hat being
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: picked up. I'm assuming maybe that's Oliveanders.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: It is if you were if you're it is if
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: you watch it with the subtitles, it says Garret Roander. Yeah,
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: because it ties no, but it ties into because then
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: when his next line ties into it. Yeah.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: So then we see the trio walking in slow motion.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: They're obviously somewhere in the castle.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: I think that this. Yeah, and this is the first
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: time we really see Hermione and Ron in this trailer too.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: I mean, obviously we see the back of Ron, but
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: like really get to see them in costume, and I
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: think they all look great.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Hermione's hair is actually bushy.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: I just, yeah, I am so. I'm so excited about
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: everything we saw about Hermione in this trailer. Actually, and
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: I already know she's going to be great because she
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: was great in the audiobooks, so I just already know
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: she's perfect. But yeah, I just instantly, yeah, saw her
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: hair and I loved it. And I love her little
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: gryffind Or colored headband that she has in her hair.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: Ron looks great too.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Yeah, this is where the shots get a
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: little bit more rapid. We see another one. This like
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: just a wide shot of a corridor. It looks like.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, and then it looks like yeah, during Yeah,
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: we start to get more of Olivander's voiceover too while
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: they're doing that yeah, and then you know, I'm really
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: curious this next scene, like when Olivander starts saying, I
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: think we can expect great things from you. I'm curious
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: where we are here because it looks like there's a
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: Slytherin banner hanging. Actually, both of them look like they're
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Oh they are if you zoom in on the one
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: on the left, it's like a pen like one of
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: those like pennant and it says Slytherin on it, and
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: then on the right side you can see another Slytherin
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: banner hanging, but we only see Slytherin, which is I mean,
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: I'm okay with it, but like, why do we only
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: have Slytherin right here?
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Yeah? I wonder if it's like a situation where like
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: down the corridor, like there's banners hanging up both sides.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Maybe maybe like we don't see the other houses.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: In this shop, yeah, or maybe Slytherin just like want
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: a quidditch match or something and they're celebrating it. You know,
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: maybe could be because they're different, these banners here, I
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: will say, are very different than like the banner we
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: see when we enter Hogwarts. When we enter Hogwarts, those
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: banners look very much like housecrest banners where I think
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: the two that we see in this shot are very
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: like quidditch esque, like sport kind of banners. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: like lots of students. I think they all look good.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: I think all the costuming looks really really good from
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: what we can see.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: On. So obviously we've been getting Olivander's voice over and
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: we hear him say I think you can expect great
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: things from you, and then we get a shot of him.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: This is obviously the scene inside his wand shop with
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Harry is buying his wand, so he's handing Harry the
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: wand in this shot as well.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Yeah, try I think it looks good.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: Try to zoom in on the wand the wand looks
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: the same.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: It's it's very like I think it looks slightly different,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: but it's definitely the same elements with that like chunky
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: bottom that has the like wood grains in it. Yeph
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: h Well, that'll be available for purchase and probably for
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: Christmas of twenty twenty six.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Time to go to the Harry Potter New York Store.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: You know they're gonna have they're gonna add these ones.
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: We just we already know. But yeah, no, I think
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: Alevander looks Yeah, he's Alexander.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: He's got the Olivander kind of voice. It works. So
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: the next shot is this classroom shot, and it's got
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: you know, candles on the desks. There's something on a projector.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: A lot of people have been saying this is charms
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: class but personally I'm wondering if this is history of magic.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: Yeah, if you zoom in, So I like zoomed in on,
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: like what's on this the projector and I can't tell.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: It just looks like a lot of it looks like
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: a castle in the background with like bubbles.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Looks very like history. Like I agree, Like using a
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: projector seems like old school history class, you know.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: I agree, Like yes, I also love like all the
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: candles on the desks because like in reality, like we
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: just talked about, right, like, this is a castle and
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: there's not central or not central air that's there's not
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: that there's not like electricity in that way in this castle,
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: And so I think it's very realistic that they would
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: have all these candles around everywhere.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think this is history of magic class
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I'm going to go on the record saying that.
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and there's no professor there, so like, is
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: this where we get our moment of Professor Binn's coming
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: through that blackboard right there?
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: I love like the lecture hall style of this classroom
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: as well, like desks.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: Like stadium seating kind of ye likes.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Then let's see this is where things are pretty rapid.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: We get close up of Harry, he's taken notes, we
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: get him walking and kind of like looking up at
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: like the different levels in Hogwarts. You can see some
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: of the different floors.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: I am really curious how they're going to do the
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: moving stairwalls with this design. Yeah, Like all the shots
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: that we've gotten of it, I'm like, I'm having trouble
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: picturing how we're going to incorporate that given the layout
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: of what we've seen.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: That is such a difficult feature to work in, like
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: just like logistically and visually, like how that's going to work.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: That's so tough. Yeah. Then we get this like shot
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: this like an overhead kind of spinning shot, and it
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: looks like this is the Gryffindor common room looks very
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: similar to the films in terms of you know, comfy furniture, lights, sprugs, disks,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: looks like people are studying.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: I don't see the fireplace though it's there. I'm sure
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: it's there.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: But we get a shot in the fireplace later.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: Oh maybe I don't remember that. It's everything goes in
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: like rapid succession at this point, and it's like, this
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: is the first time I'm slowing it down and actually
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: like pausing it stuff. Okay.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Then the next shot we get is one of the
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Slytherins and they are drawing their wands with Draco out
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: in front.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: Draco's hair is very poofy, it really is.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: He got the volume brush in there. He used a
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: round brush on his bangs.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: That is a round brush with a hair dryer put
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: right up to it. If I've never seen anything more,
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: I don't think I could even get my hair to
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: have that kind of volume. Oh. I don't know if
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: I like it. I like I definitely like the like
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: slick back look that they did in the films. Yeah,
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: But at the same time, this hairstyle also works for
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: like the pretentious kind of nature of Draco, and he
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: looks very like pretentious.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: He does, like just look at his face that is Yeah,
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: he's like you are beneath me.
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: Absolutely, And yeah, everyone else looks looks good too. And
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: I was I was excited to see because obviously, you know,
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: big fan of Draco here, so I was really excited
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: to see Draco in the trailer. And yeah, I definitely
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: think he uh nails that look that is Draco.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you can see the Slytherin robes, the sweater, vest,
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: the ties, and.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: It's they almost look and it's like we saw this
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: when we got our first look. I'm so curious to
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: see how it looks like when maybe the lighting and
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: stuff is better, but they still look brown to me,
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: like they all look like they're a brown or burgundy.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the vest, the sweater specific.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: Right looks versus obviously in the films they were more gray.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: I don't know if I like the brown.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: I'm also noticing on Draco's rope you can see the
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Hogwarts patch.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: The crest yeap and it's I saw a zoomden picture
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: of it somewhere and it essentially is like an h
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: with like, well, you know, here's the tree thing again amy,
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: because what it looks like is it looks like tree
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: vines coming out the top and out the bottom. So
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: maybe there is something more to that tree in the entryway.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Interesting, But it's interesting that it's the Hogwarts crest and
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: not the Slytherin crest on the rope, right, that's a change.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: I will say, I do not love the new the
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: new Hogwarts logo. That's my one critique. I do not
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: love it. We'll see, we'll see. I'm sure I'll end
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: up with a pin of it at some point. But
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: but I will say that is one thing that stood
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: out to me as Yes, I don't know if I
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: love the coloring of the undershirts that actually they look
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: like they're sweaters because you can see like the crease
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: and the robe where his arm comes out. Yeah, I
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: don't love that it's brown. And I don't love the
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: new Hogwarts logo. Mm hmmm. So see, I don't love everything.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: I'm really not a fan of that. I do want
- 1:34:13Speaker 2: to know more about this big ring that Draco has
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: on his little panky finger though, Yeah, what's up with
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: that little family heirloom?
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: So I mean, I'm assuming that the others in this
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: are Crab and Goyle and probably Pansy Parkinson.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: That's what I was thinking too.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: The next shot we get is Harry and Ron on
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: wrapping the Nimbus two thousand. We get like kind of
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: a cute little reaction shot like they unwrap it, and
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: then there's like one from like below and they're like cheering.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: I also will say that obviously this I think gives
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: us I mean, obviously we saw the letter, right, but
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: this also kind of gives us a first look at
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: like the graphic design too, and I you know, I
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: like the spot. Yeah, I like it.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: So then we go right into quidditch here. So the
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: next shot is kind of this like overhead from the
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: stands point of view, looking down at the Gryffindor and
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: Hufflepuff Qidditch teams as they're walking onto the pitch.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: I do love these robes, these new robes. I do too.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: They look great. We get Harry or not Harry, Ron
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: and Hermione cheering in the stands.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: This is a very film reminiscent shot, Yes, very much so.
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: And then we have little Harry down on the pitch
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: looking kind of lost and confused and overwhelmed.
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: Which you know is a pretty accurate depiction of how
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: we fell at that moment. So what do you think
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: of the broom design?
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Super interesting, Like it's like double brooms smashed together.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think too, Like I will say I
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: think the I at this point, I am definitely still
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: more of a fan of the broom designs we had
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: in the films. But I will also say, again going
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: back to like they're trying to ruin like natural and realism.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Right, this looks more like a broom.
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: Correct, where we had much more polished kind of brooms
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: in the film. But I will say the brooms were
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: a little jarring to me, Like it took a minute
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: for me to like acquimate to like this new kind
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: of style of broom.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I could actually sweep my porch with that broom. Right,
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: it's functional, It's actually function Movie Nimbus two thousand.
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: You're just I feel like you're just clanking plastic.
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: I feel like it's more of a paint brush than
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: a broom.
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: You know, they do kind of look like paint brushes.
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: You're right, You're right, all right.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: And then we had to the Greenhouse. I was excited
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: to see the greenhouse.
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: Yeah, more trees, more trees.
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: I think this is cute. They have like these like
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: uniform smocks for herbology that are all this like mustard yellow.
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: Yeah, because the corus professor Sprott would put them all
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: in mustard yellow.
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: Hours. Yeah, we get another shot of Hermione standing there
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: in her bology class. We have a shot of it
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: looks like Harry and Ron maybe running up to up
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: to no good, probably running from Fluffy or Filch. Then
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: quick shot of them in the train compartment laughing. They've
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: got like all the sweets wrappers all over the place.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: If you pause this shot, there is so many little
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: hidden things in here.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: I see a pumpkin juice.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: Yep, we get our first look. If you zoom in. Yep,
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: we've got the pumpkins. We've got our first kind of
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: it's very It's hard because it's such a quick shot
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: and it's obviously blurry, but you know, obviously we get
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: our first look at some of like the sweet boxes.
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: I did also see and I don't know if I'm
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: going to be able to like actually see it myself
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: because you have to pause it so perfectly, but apparently
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: you can see scabbers and this as well. I saw
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: something where they like circled it and zoomed in on him.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: I don't know if I can get it.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't see him or is.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: That a tail? Do I see him? Do I see
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: a rat tail? I'm not sure, but I see. But
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: some people are saying that you can see Scabbers here,
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: which you should be able, like he's there when they seen.
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: Scabbers freaking petty grew.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: The next shot we get is like a snowball fight?
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: What's going on here?
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: And then we get the most adorable shot ever? Oh yeah,
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: I just want to know in that shot.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: I just realized this in the shot of the snowball fight,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: is you can see the edge of one of those
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: topiaries that we saw those leaked photos of the courtyard
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: and they had like the house mascot topiaries. Yes, so
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: this is in that courtyard. Yeah, sorry, go ahead.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: No, you're good. I also I really wonder who this
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: other student is that's in here, because the shot is
- 1:39:36Speaker 2: not Harry Ron and Hermione look at them having fun.
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: But yes, but then we get this. Honestly, I think
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: it's just the most adorable shot of Hagrid making obviously
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: a giant snow angel and I just loved the shot
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: because I think, like, even if you know, I do
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: agree Amy that I like had some like reser vas
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: kind of initially in that first shot that we got
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: like of Hagrid, but then like, this is so cute
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: and wholesome, and it also is like so Hagrid too,
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: like from a characterization standpoint.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Like I know, when we did our Hagrid character discussion
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: a while back, we talked about how he's really just
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: like a big child, like how he never really got
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: to experience this childhood and so he's the child at
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: heart right now.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Perfect seeing that so cute. I just love that scene.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: We get another overhead shot of some spiral staircases, so
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: obviously in one of the towers. We get the Gryffindor
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: Team Quiddish team putting their hands in the center of
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: a huddle in the locker room.
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: It was it's a very yeah, he's go team Very
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: did that a lot in the nineties.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Yes, And then we get another shot of Harry walking
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: in his Quidditch robes. This was that like teaser image yep,
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: that they gave us and we're like, hey, tomorrow, I
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: like the back of these robes. I like how the
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: name is going down vertically instead of like horizontal across
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: the back. I think that's kind of fun.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I really really like these robes. I'm excited to
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: see the other Like how all the other houses ones
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: look too?
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: Yeah, then we get the shot of the fireplace. This
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: looks like it's in the common room and it looks
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: oh duh.
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: How did I not like when they have the slick s'mores.
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they're toasting marshmallows.
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: It's so cute. How did I forget about that? Oh
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: my god?
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: And of course Ron's eating always.
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: This is so because of course, like the yeah, the
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: shot we get a Ron is him like stuffing his
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: face with the marshmallow like so on character. I just
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: like seeing these moments of Harry, like I do. I
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: like how kind of to juxtapose like we were talking
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: about like the beginning and stuff of the trailer, Like
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: I think, like, no, do we get to see a
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: lot like do we see anybody perform magic in this trailer?
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: We do not.
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: Do we see anything that suggests magic in this trailer?
- 1:42:31Speaker 2: We actually we do not. But I think that like
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: you like, really what you mentioned amy of this like
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: journey it kind of takes you on it really like
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: to just look at Harry in these little moments of
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: these scenes that we do see and compare it to
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: how we saw him at the beginning of the trailer.
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: I think, I really think that's the narrative that they
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: were trying to play here. We know, like they don't
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: need to present to us that this is a story
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: about a magic school. Everybody knows the story of Harry Potter, like.
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: We even if you never read it or watched it,
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: you know, you know Romis.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: And I think it'll be like really interesting to see
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: like future trailers. Like again, this could be a trailer
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: where they're focusing, like you said, Amy on the characters,
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: and then we might get another trailer where we actually
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: see them flying on brooms or doing magic. Like just
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: because we haven't seen that in this one two minute
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: trailer doesn't mean that it's not there.
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: Right. They're still filming, so they definitely don't have special
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: effects done right.
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: Now, right, you know? That's that is such a good
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: point that I think, like we see this right and
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: we jump to kind of what we're seeing and what
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: we're missing, but sometimes like it is really helpful to
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: take that step back and actually think about logistics of things.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: This is just a teaser trailer, and to your point,
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: those special effects, like they're going to be continuing to
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: work on that stuff, Like that stuff is not ready
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: to be shown in a trailer. So of course we're
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: not going to see magic, We're not going to see
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: them flying on room sticks, like that's not ready yet.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: It's one of the last things to get perfected. Like
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: you can even remember back when we would get the
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: movie trailers, a lot of times there were special effects
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: in those trailers that were not done yet right, but
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: the trailer came out.
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: Right because they have to put something out. And so
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: I think it was actually a really smart move to
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: really focus on this, you know, Harry's journey of just
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: being in this most depressing place ever to then now
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: of having friends and like smiling and doing fun things
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: like throwing snowballs and eating marshmallows, like those moments are
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: so important to Harry's character development, just as much as
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: him learning how to be a wizard. And I think
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: that they were really smart in how they decided to
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: theme this trailer so that they could show us more
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: of what they had. Yes, and it fits the theme.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: And I would argue that Harry Potter had its core
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: is more about humanity than it is about magic.
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: It is, magic is just the that there.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: It's the vehicle to get us there, correct, But everything
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: else is centered on humanity and our plights and war,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: which is blah blah blah love.
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: Right, right, It's not like all the magic and stuff
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: like that is just the world that they exist in,
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: so that stuff is there. Obviously, magic does play a
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: crucial part in the story, because the whole reason why
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: Harry is alive, right is because of magic. But at
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: the saint it is it is about found family and
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: character developed. And that's why this is why I go
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: to bat for Cursed Child, right, because it strips back
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: the magic and allows us to see how at the
- 1:45:44Speaker 2: core this story is about the characters and what they
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: go through and how they develop. And yeah, this trailer
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: captures that really well.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: I agree. So we get another shot of Hermione in
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: her cute little headband.
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: She's so cute you can actually see in this shot
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: the Hogwarts crust even better.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I see what you mean. Is like the
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: tree roots.
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: Yep, on either side. So I still don't like it,
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: just kind of actually I will say on hers, and
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: I wonder if we if I go back and watch
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: the like one of Draco's that it looks like her
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: patches in Gryffindor colors though, so I wonder if the
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: one on Draco was more Slytherin colors or was it
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: exactly that it was because it looked like this because
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: it looked brown.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: It didn't look like it was like green and silver.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: I wonder if, like, because we're seeing it in this
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: shot like next to her burgundy tie, it's making it
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: look more burgundy because it looks like Gryffindor colors in
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: this light out, which.
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Is interesting when you think about it because think about
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: like how divided the students are by house, Like, I
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: think that's kind of a nice choice to put their
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: outer or symbol on their robes and be like, no,
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: we're all Hogwarts students, So that's kind of nice.
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: Right, And then they're differentiated in their ties in the
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: little just even if the same maybe even their sweaters
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: are all the same, and literally all that's different is
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: just that little the trim. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: she looks great. She's so cute and her little smile
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: and she's she's Hermione. She is just Hermione.
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: Then we get our first shot of Snape. Yes, yeah,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: he's you know, in a corridor with his wand lip,
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: probably hunting down Harry because he's out of aud.
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: Like he's just he's just doing Snape things, just sneaking
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: around the corridors.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah, it's a super quick shot though it is. Yeah.
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: I mean, we got a much better look at his
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: costume in the photos that came out, So there's also
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: some photo character photos that came out. And I will
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: say too that one thing that I actually I have
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: things I love and don't love about his costume. I
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: don't know if I love the leather underneitcoat with the zip,
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: like the full length zipper. I don't know if I'm
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: loving that. But I actually do really love what they
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: did with his robes because if you remember, like in
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: the books, he's described as like having his robes being
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: like bat like because of the way that he like
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: moves around. Yeah, and I think that the way that
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: they like, at least in that picture, the way that
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: the like flaps and stuff of the robe. Lie. I
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: just was like, oh, it's bat like, like it just
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: looked like a bat like wing, and it just it's
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: the first thing I thought of when I saw that picture.
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know how I love about love
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: the leather and the zipper, but it also looks like
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: in this quick shot we have of him, he's not
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: wearing that like leather with the zipper. I don't. I
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: don't know because it's such a quick shot, but it
- 1:48:57Speaker 2: looks slightly different, so maybe that's not. Yeah, actually you
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: know you can tell there is no zipper there, so
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: that must have just been for that. It is his
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: who's his outerwear? And he's got outfits, yeah, this one
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: in the well and in this shot, it doesn't look
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: like he's wearing robes. It just looks like he has
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: like an outer coat on. And actually the undershirt looks
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: more similar to like what we saw like Alan Rickman wear.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: But and then a very like there there's so many
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: rings in this trailer. I just want to point that out.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: Olivander was wearing a ring. We saw the one on
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: Draco Snape and they're in the What's weird about it
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: is they're always like my eye is drawn to them
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: because the way they are in the shot, like they're highlighted.
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean? Like in Olivander, it's
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: right there with Draco, it's in his hand. Like here
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: in the Wan hand Snape's got this really chunky gold
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: ring on.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: It's Harry Potter and the Fellowship of the Ring.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: I think it might be. I feel like I'm just
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: always looking for Easter eggs, and I'm like, what is
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: up with all these chunky rings that all these all
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: these guys are wearing, Like there's something they're all in,
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: like a secret brotherhood together.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: So the next quick shot we get is of Dumbledore.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: I have so many questions about this particular scene because
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: what is this hat? Obviously we know this isn't just
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: his I feel like Dumbledore has many hats, right, and
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: I do. I have seen online a lot of people
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: critiquing this hat. Guys, go look at the photos that
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: came out in Variety. He does actually wear a legitimate
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: wizard's hat as well.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: This looks like I'm going outside hat.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: Yes, this looks like I'm not trying to look like
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: this big, massive wizard. Ha.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: This is like a hat that you would wear out
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: in about whereas like a more cloth wizard hat seems
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: like more of like a house hat.
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: Right, because he's not super yeah, I mean he's not.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: I mean we know that Dumbledore does wear those things
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: out and everything, but he's not super embellished in this
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: scene either. It looks like he's wearing like a black jacket.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: He's not in you know, purple robes or anything. Or
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: could this be you know when we said earlier we're
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: going to get some more about like Dumbledore's like backstory.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: Are we watching him on some I don't want to
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: say mission, but I can't think of a better word, Like.
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: Well, and what is he holding? That's what I'm trying
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: to figure out.
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: It's like kind of like a really long pitchfork.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: Yeah, or it's like a tube. I don't know.
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: I mean it looks metal, but then it's glass.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: There's some glass.
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: Oh maybe glass. Yeah, he looks like he's up to something,
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: Like he's up to something in the shot.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: Maybe this is when he's going out to meet the Flemuse.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: Maybe again, I think and wait, and like we said,
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: we know that we're gonna get to see some extra
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: scenes of Dumbledore doing Dumbledore things, and I think that's
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: what we're seeing here. But if you go and look
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: at those character photos that came out. We have a
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: really good shot of him in his very much Dumbledore
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: Wizard outfit. Yeah, and I think it looks great. I
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: think it looks good. The glasses look really good. H
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: the beard looks really good.
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: Oh no, you're right. I think it is like a
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: metal pronged thing. I just hit play. It was where
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: I had it paused. It looked like glass.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Yeah. No, yeah, it looks like the like like he's
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: gonna about to play an instrument. He's got to get
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: a tuner up.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Right, Like that's what I'm as piano.
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: He's getting the he's getting the frog choir ready. Yeah.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: I'm very curious to see what he's doing there. I'm intrigue.
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: That one little glimpse of Dumbledore definitely got me intrigued
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: to find out what that how that scene, what that
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: scene is?
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: He's doing something. Then we get a quick shot of
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: the trio walking again from the back.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: I just want to know why it's only Ron that
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: ever has a backpack. So in the earlier scene where
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: we get the three of them two, Ron's got a backpack.
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he had it on the train platform too.
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: He's got that. He just doesn't want to let that
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: backpack go, because here again he's the only one that
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: has a backpack. I noticed that right away, mm hmm.
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: And then we fade up on the scene inside the
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: train compartment with the three of them, and Ron asked,
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: are you really Harry Potter? And we get Harry's little
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: kind of smirk and nod, and then we get the
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: cutest part of this trailer is Ron making the little
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: mind explosion hand.
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: Mind ironically from the part where like Harry's scar is though,
- 1:54:03Speaker 2: so he's also like being like his scar is exploding
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: it literally like wow, it's so cute though. I love
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: I just gotta love it, and I love that it's
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: the endsne and it's just.
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: So cute, so cute. Yeah, and then the title comes up,
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: The Harry Potter and the.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Philosopher's Stone, I want to say too, though, actually, going
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: back to last one, we get a really good like
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: the dirt that they put on Ron's nose, and this
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: is very I mean, it's it's very prevalent.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: It's there, Yeah, it is there.
- 1:54:40Speaker 2: But yeah, and then yep, that's where we get that
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: it'll be the Philosopher's Stone, and we get our first
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: look at the logo, which is pretty WA's the same
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: with just a little minor tweaking, but it is definitely
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: very recognizable as the same logo. Yeah, which I'm okay
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: with that.
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's the books have this, the movies
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: have this, now the TV show has it. It makes
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: sense to keep that thing consistent. I mean, it's so
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: recognizable with the little lightning.
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Bowl on the p I think they made it just
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: different enough. But I think in a lineup, I don't
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: know if I'd be able to really tell the difference,
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: but if you look at them next to there is
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: slight yeah, slight changes, but very minimal.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: Yeah. So, I mean that's the trailer. It's a lot
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: of footage and a lot more than I thought we
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: were going to get at this point.
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Like I said, I still would never have considered
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: a two minute long trailer a teaser trailer. But I
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: do think that it does live up to the teaser
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: trailer vibes.
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: And that.
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: You the way they jump around and show a lot
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: of different things, and like I think that there is
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: a theme, like we talked about, I think there is
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: a thematic element to the trailer, but I think once
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: you get later trailers. They hone in a little bit
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: more on specific things where this one does jump around
- 1:56:17Speaker 2: a lot. So it is a tease of a lot
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: of different things. Yeah, and I mean they definitely tease me.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: I definitely feel teased and ready for more.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: And oh, we have the whole summer to wait.
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: But the thing is, though we're now and like the
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: where now, I feel like in the timeframe of like
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: we're actually going to start getting things, like we're going
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: to get more trailers.
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: You know, we're gonna interviews.
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: There's Yeah, there's gonna be interviews, Like I wonder if
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: they'll do TV spots and stuff like that too. I
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: don't know if that's still a thing, if people still
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: do that. I think, you know, we'll start to hopefully
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: learn more about what the set visit looked like. And
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: I think that, I mean, I'm not definitely not wishing
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: for the rest of this year to end, but I
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: think it'll be here before we know it.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: I bet you anything would get some sort of like
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: news special where like Good Morning America goes and tours
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: the set or something, you know what I mean, Like
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: there's gonna be something or like Today's Show. Yeah, there
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: will be something.
- 1:57:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, I mean, if anything, we're definitely in
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: that phase of we're Yeah, I think it's just going
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: to be not pretty steady from here on out, but
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: we'll definitely have a lot to hold us over for sure.
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: Definitely so nice.
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: So last week we asked, you know, obviously we talked
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: about mobile games, and we asked, you know, what kind
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: of Harry Potter mobile game would you like to see next?
- 1:57:54Speaker 2: And Jerry shared with us that she doesn't know if
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: it's possible, but something as much like the beast Bavariums
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: from Hogwarts Legacy as possible that I could play on
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: my kindle fire tablet would be wonderful in my dream game.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: While one might need the Internet connection to capture a
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: new beast, one could care for it or raise babies
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: without an active connection, just like one can play the
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: Puzzles and Harry Potter Puzzles and spells that way.
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be cute.
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: I agree, And I think didn't we I feel like
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: we talked about something similar like that, Like I know
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: we were talking about like animal crossing and like Stardoo Valley,
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: and like in Sturdy Valley, you have to care for
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: your animals and.
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: Stuff like that, and like making a cozy game for.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: Just caring for the beasts, Like put us in Newts
- 1:58:42Speaker 2: case and we have to care for the beasts. We
- 1:58:44Speaker 2: have to build the case and take care of the beasts.
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: And clearly like we yeah, we all feel like we
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: just want a nice little yea cozy game where we
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: can just take care of beasts. That's what we want.
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: That's all we want, all right. So so our discussion
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: question for this episode is what are your thoughts on
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: the teaser trailer for the Harry Potter HBO show. We
