- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey, this is Jonah Ray from Comedy Central's The Meltdown
- 0:09Speaker 1: with Jonah Kumail, and you're listening to another meltdown, a
- 0:11Speaker 1: movie meltdown.
- 0:22Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:25Speaker 2: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:28Speaker 2: and parental discretion is advised. It's showtime, folks.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Enjoy the show.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:17Speaker 5: I don't care about losing all the money. It's losing
- 1:25Speaker 5: all the stuff.
- 1:27Speaker 6: What's up and welcome.
- 1:38Speaker 7: To Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:40Speaker 8: I'm Misty.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm Jake.
- 1:43Speaker 7: You haven't heard that in a while now, have you?
- 1:44Speaker 8: It's been quite some time.
- 1:46Speaker 7: Because we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:49Speaker 7: the bastion of awesomeness.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Of messiness.
- 1:51Speaker 8: It's so damn messy.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Whichever.
- 1:53Speaker 7: I'm just perusing the stuff. It's got tons of new
- 1:56Speaker 7: stuff since last time I was here.
- 1:57Speaker 8: Books and Baby Yodas everywhere.
- 1:59Speaker 7: There is a mountain of Baby Yodas sitting directly in
- 2:01Speaker 7: front of us.
- 2:02Speaker 8: There's a tower over there.
- 2:03Speaker 7: And a tower that I'm not going to poke because
- 2:05Speaker 7: the child will fall so many times. There's so many childs.
- 2:08Speaker 8: I loaded up on the Funko Pop. There's so many
- 2:12Speaker 8: different varieties, and then I had to buy two of
- 2:14Speaker 8: most of them because, God forbid, what if I have
- 2:16Speaker 8: to open one of them one day? It's a process.
- 2:21Speaker 7: It makes it so much easier. I don't normally even
- 2:23Speaker 7: buy Pops, but every once in a while, I saw
- 2:26Speaker 7: one the other day. Have you seen they did an
- 2:30Speaker 7: Invisible Man? And it was like an exclusive through, I
- 2:33Speaker 7: think Walgreens or somebody did it. Is it just an
- 2:35Speaker 7: empty box? That would be pretty good actually now that
- 2:39Speaker 7: I think about it.
- 2:40Speaker 1: That would be funny.
- 2:41Speaker 7: But it was him with the, he's wrapped in bandages
- 2:43Speaker 7: and he got like the big glasses on. Like it's
- 2:45Speaker 7: really cool. Like his whole head is just like encased
- 2:48Speaker 7: in like glasses and wrapped bandages and like it looked
- 2:51Speaker 7: pretty cool.
- 2:52Speaker 8: Is he wearing the Hugh Hefner robe?
- 2:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I would hope so. And then the best part
- 2:56Speaker 7: was the box was messed up. And I was like, oh,
- 2:58Speaker 7: now I don't have to question. Like, yeah, I can
- 3:00Speaker 7: be a real dork and take it out and play
- 3:02Speaker 7: with it, which is what I wanted to do anyway. So, yep,
- 3:05Speaker 7: I got Invisible Man. It's one of like a handful
- 3:08Speaker 7: of pops I've gotten because I've tried to just not even,
- 3:10Speaker 7: I try not to go down that road if I
- 3:12Speaker 7: can help it other than my stitches.
- 3:14Speaker 8: I got some more knockoff Baby Yodas in the couch.
- 3:18Speaker 8: This is my AliExpress special.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Her Chinese Baby Yodas.
- 3:22Speaker 8: They brought the virus.
- 3:26Speaker 7: Damn it. Quarantine your baby Yoda.
- 3:30Speaker 1: She actually did.
- 3:31Speaker 7: He was locked in a room by himself for weeks.
- 3:34Speaker 1: She was like, should I let this sit in the
- 3:36Speaker 1: sunlight for like 30 days?
- 3:39Speaker 7: No, he'll fade. No, it was in the bag. It
- 3:41Speaker 7: was in the bag.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you.
- 3:46Speaker 7: I mean, a week, it'll be fine.
- 3:48Speaker 8: Yeah. I washed him in the washing room dryer.
- 3:50Speaker 7: Yeah, you did. A week to 14 days.
- 3:52Speaker 8: I think I'm okay now.
- 3:55Speaker 7: I still haven't cuddled with those two. Well, we haven't died,
- 3:56Speaker 7: so I guess we're okay. So there you go. That's
- 4:00Speaker 7: the big news is we're sitting in the same room
- 4:04Speaker 7: having a discussion. I realized that.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Is that allowed? Are we going to get in trouble?
- 4:08Speaker 1: No, because we're all essential.
- 4:09Speaker 7: We are less than 10 people. We can get together.
- 4:12Speaker 8: There's 48 Baby Yodas as I count.
- 4:14Speaker 7: We're not counting the multitudes of Baby Yodas. So many childs.
- 4:19Speaker 8: But the Elvis squirrel was here.
- 4:21Speaker 7: He was not. I walked in, yeah, I was kind
- 4:23Speaker 7: of distracted by this Elvis squirrel over here, too. You
- 4:26Speaker 7: guys should just, if you could sit here, and we
- 4:28Speaker 7: just need a video cast just for... No, you don't.
- 4:30Speaker 7: To peruse. Well, just a close-up going past shelves, so
- 4:34Speaker 7: you could just be like, what's that?
- 4:35Speaker 1: So we could be on the next episode of Hoarders.
- 4:37Speaker 8: I'm not a hoarder, I'm a collector.
- 4:42Speaker 7: It's a fine line, everybody. I know, I'm... playing that
- 4:46Speaker 7: game myself i like i have to shift things to
- 4:49Speaker 7: watch tv that's the game now because where i have
- 4:53Speaker 7: to go like watch a movie is where other stuff
- 4:55Speaker 7: gets piled the rest of the week because i don't
- 4:56Speaker 7: have time the rest of the week so then it's
- 4:58Speaker 7: like okay let's sit down and watch a movie damn
- 5:00Speaker 7: it i gotta move all the stuff that's been shifted
- 5:02Speaker 7: that way i have to go through that.
- 5:03Speaker 8: To get to my deep i'm a blu-ray so they're
- 5:05Speaker 8: like there's.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah you know what are those huh what are they
- 5:11Speaker 1: Because people can't see them, obviously. What's in front of
- 5:14Speaker 1: your DVDs?
- 5:14Speaker 8: I was getting ready.
- 5:15Speaker 7: Okay.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Thundercats.
- 5:16Speaker 7: Thunder, thunder, thunder, thundercats is what I see.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, no, I mean, yeah, they're thundercats, but who makes them?
- 5:21Speaker 7: See, that's the thing. There's so many variations of little disformed...
- 5:26Speaker 7: Super deformed, however many variations there are.
- 5:29Speaker 8: The Funko Minis of the Stranger Things. I'm pretty sure
- 5:33Speaker 8: there's a Preacher back there. Some Ghostbusters.
- 5:37Speaker 7: Also, on this side is the Elvis Squirrel. On that
- 5:39Speaker 7: side is Vampire Squirrel.
- 5:40Speaker 8: Vampire Squirrel.
- 5:41Speaker 7: I think we discussed him last time. He's been here
- 5:42Speaker 7: a while. And Sam, right in the middle. Hell yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 7: Trick or treat, Sam.
- 5:47Speaker 8: There's one over there in the box, too.
- 5:48Speaker 7: God forbid. God forbid. Fine lines. Is there one in
- 5:54Speaker 7: the box? Yeah, right over there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 5:57Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Sometimes you live here, you don't realize stuff. Every once
- 6:02Speaker 1: in a while, she's like, what are you looking.
- 6:05Speaker 2: At?
- 6:06Speaker 1: I just noticed something I've never noticed before.
- 6:08Speaker 7: Weird. That's mine, too. When did I buy that?
- 6:11Speaker 3: No.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Mine's the tiki collection over in my house.
- 6:13Speaker 7: I know. And every once in a while, you probably
- 6:15Speaker 7: look over and go, I got a blue one?
- 6:16Speaker 8: When did I get a blue one? You have this
- 6:18Speaker 8: one little shelf in the corner.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 7: You've been shoved to the corner. Jake, move your shit.
- 6:24Speaker 8: Damn it.
- 6:25Speaker 7: I lasted in the living room as long as I could.
- 6:27Speaker 8: He's the last holdout right there is a shelf.
- 6:29Speaker 7: He'll be out in the shed. This is my corner.
- 6:31Speaker 8: I'm going to close the back porch.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I don't know. You know?
- 6:34Speaker 7: It fits. Well, you both have awesome things.
- 6:38Speaker 8: Hell yeah, we do.
- 6:39Speaker 1: The oil lamp's mine.
- 6:42Speaker 8: That we never turn on. Our plug-in.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Well, you can't get to the plug.
- 6:45Speaker 8: Because all my stuff.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Because all your stuff's in front of me. I've got
- 6:50Speaker 1: my wind-up toys up there on the.
- 6:52Speaker 7: I have some of those, yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, the little reapers.
- 6:55Speaker 7: I started getting spooky wind-up toys years ago. We've crossed
- 7:00Speaker 7: over on a few, but then you've got some I
- 7:02Speaker 7: don't have. It's pretty cool.
- 7:04Speaker 8: Let me get any ideas over there.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Look where would I begin if I wanted to steal
- 7:08Speaker 7: it because you got lots of cool shit so I'm
- 7:11Speaker 7: like what I'd have to rent a trailer I mean shit.
- 7:14Speaker 8: You could take half of what we have and I
- 7:16Speaker 8: would you.
- 7:16Speaker 7: Wouldn't know you'd be like where's that one thing I.
- 7:19Speaker 8: Swear I had and yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 7: For years you'd be like I think I have that
- 7:24Speaker 7: I don't know where because I do that now anyway
- 7:26Speaker 7: you do and it drives me up the wall somewhere
- 7:28Speaker 7: in a plastic tub store it away somewhere I know
- 7:31Speaker 7: I've already got that so I won't bother buying it again.
- 7:34Speaker 8: I found stuff today that I forgot I even had
- 7:36Speaker 8: You did?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 7: What?
- 7:37Speaker 8: Apparently I have a Phantasm 5 VHS.
- 7:41Speaker 1: You got a Phantasm 5 VHS? Are you sure that's
- 7:46Speaker 1: not mine?
- 7:46Speaker 8: No, it's definitely mine, because when I ordered the Don
- 7:49Speaker 8: Coscarelli autographed book, that came in the box. And the
- 7:51Speaker 8: box has been on the floor for months, and I
- 7:53Speaker 8: forgot that it was in there.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Because I have a Phantasm 5 VHS.
- 7:57Speaker 7: I was like, what year did you go to for
- 7:59Speaker 7: Phantasm 5? I've lost track.
- 8:00Speaker 8: I think he couldn't have sent me any of the
- 8:02Speaker 8: good movies. I don't remember Phantasm 5.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's five.
- 8:08Speaker 7: I remember four. Five was like way later. I'm pretty sure.
- 8:11Speaker 8: I shouldn't bitch. They did send it to me.
- 8:13Speaker 7: It's one through three.
- 8:14Speaker 1: That's the best ones for me.
- 8:17Speaker 7: It is one I had to, again, I think I
- 8:19Speaker 7: blocked out what little I'd seen as a kid because
- 8:22Speaker 7: I thought they were more disturbing than they were. And
- 8:25Speaker 7: then I think it was like when we were going
- 8:26Speaker 7: to talk to him, I was like, I guess I
- 8:27Speaker 7: should watch these. And went back and watched them, and
- 8:29Speaker 7: I was just like, oh, these are totally different than
- 8:31Speaker 7: I thought they were as a kid. Like, I grew
- 8:33Speaker 7: up with what I thought Phantasm was about, and then
- 8:36Speaker 7: I watched them, and I was like, no, these are awesome.
- 8:38Speaker 1: This is totally different. Thinking back on that, the whole
- 8:41Speaker 1: thing with the flying ball, or the flying orb, and
- 8:46Speaker 1: the part where it flies and sticks in people's foreheads,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and then it drills and squirts their brains out. I mean,
- 8:53Speaker 1: thinking back on that, I remember seeing that as a
- 8:56Speaker 1: kid and thinking, just like really freaked out by that
- 9:00Speaker 1: see that's i.
- 9:01Speaker 7: Think i remember hearing like a description of what phantasm
- 9:04Speaker 7: was supposed to be and it was like one of
- 9:07Speaker 7: the goriest movies ever made and like i just it
- 9:10Speaker 7: was gory then but it was yeah it was it
- 9:11Speaker 7: was from someone normal and it was from someone normal
- 9:14Speaker 7: in the early 80s so i'm just like it was
- 9:17Speaker 7: kind of a big deal then but.
- 9:18Speaker 8: We didn't have what we have now that's the.
- 9:21Speaker 7: Thing i went back now and watched it and i
- 9:23Speaker 7: was like oh These are just fun. This is great.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Okay, I used to not watch any movies with zombies
- 9:30Speaker 1: in them because I would have nightmares of zombies. I
- 9:34Speaker 1: couldn't watch anything. I think the first, and this may
- 9:38Speaker 1: sound dumb, but the first zombie movie that I could
- 9:41Speaker 1: actually watch that didn't give me nightmares was Shaun of
- 9:44Speaker 1: the Dead. Because it's fun.
- 9:46Speaker 7: Any other movies didn't bother me.
- 9:48Speaker 8: I thought it was Fido.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Fido?
- 9:49Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Maybe it was Fido. I don't know.
- 9:52Speaker 7: Again, that was a shift in the zombie... Yeah, you know,
- 9:55Speaker 7: all the old... Zombie comedies.
- 9:57Speaker 1: All the old.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Oh, who is it that does all the.
- 10:01Speaker 7: Romero. Romero, yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 1: All the Romero stuff. It always gave me nightmares.
- 10:06Speaker 7: I mean, again, that's because they're that damn good. Like,
- 10:09Speaker 7: it legitimately was disturbing for its time, and now we've
- 10:12Speaker 7: gotten just sort of normal. Zombies are so commonplace. They're
- 10:17Speaker 7: on half the commercials now. It's so generic now. It's
- 10:24Speaker 7: weird when I see something that seems different. If somebody's
- 10:28Speaker 7: finding some new way to do things, it's a zombie anything.
- 10:32Speaker 7: Definitely a movie, but even TV shows, commercials.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It's rare that things shock you anymore. Now we've seen
- 10:41Speaker 1: everything in the movies. There was that time when you
- 10:45Speaker 1: were when you were still kind of, I guess, kind
- 10:48Speaker 1: of an innocent kid, and you didn't see all the
- 10:51Speaker 1: gore and the guts and the blood and that stuff that,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you know, you're just like, oh, my God.
- 10:57Speaker 8: Everything was new at that point.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
- 10:59Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, especially by the time you hit the 80s,
- 11:01Speaker 7: because they got so good at practical effects in their
- 11:06Speaker 7: own way. Again, it's its own little weird world of
- 11:09Speaker 7: 80s practical effects. There's better and worse, but for the
- 11:12Speaker 7: most part, like, you'd never... they hadn't created stuff like
- 11:16Speaker 7: that up until the 80s like you know there was
- 11:18Speaker 7: good old school stuff you know back in the old
- 11:20Speaker 7: days with horror movies but it was like a new
- 11:23Speaker 7: peak when you hit the 80s so like yeah we
- 11:26Speaker 7: just were flooded with all these horror movies that were
- 11:29Speaker 7: just oozing blood and puss and goo and like we
- 11:31Speaker 7: just yeah you had to readjust and kind of recalibrate
- 11:35Speaker 7: your movie.
- 11:36Speaker 8: Geek system Very few things are as terrifying as those
- 11:40Speaker 8: things in Beastmaster to this day. I don't even care
- 11:42Speaker 8: what anybody says.
- 11:42Speaker 7: The giant winged things.
- 11:44Speaker 8: Those things, I don't even know what they're officially called.
- 11:45Speaker 7: I don't even know what they're called, but I, yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 7: I still, I don't even, like, they're so cool, I
- 11:49Speaker 7: don't even have nightmares. I just think back, I'm going
- 11:51Speaker 7: to go, man, those are cool. I don't know what
- 11:53Speaker 7: the hell they are, but they're disturbing. And they absorb
- 11:57Speaker 7: you and eat you and ooze around you and, yeah, bones.
- 12:00Speaker 7: I don't know. It's weird.
- 12:01Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Thank you, Don Cascaro. Even though you don't really.
- 12:05Speaker 8: Love that movie. This is our entire episode devoted to
- 12:07Speaker 8: Don Coscarelli.
- 12:10Speaker 7: Oh, Don. He seems like a cool guy.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:13Speaker 8: Okay, sorry. I had to try to find that so
- 12:15Speaker 8: we didn't forget what movie it was.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:16Speaker 8: Because that was another one that was.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we watched a lot of movies.
- 12:20Speaker 8: Do we have any more time before we get to
- 12:22Speaker 8: watching movies?
- 12:23Speaker 7: No.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I mean.
- 12:24Speaker 7: That was the whole reason for this episode. Was because
- 12:27Speaker 7: a few weeks ago I was like... Well, I mean,
- 12:31Speaker 7: it's been a while since we actually sat down to record.
- 12:33Speaker 7: And I was like, oh, it's almost getting to the
- 12:35Speaker 7: end of the year. And usually we shut down by
- 12:37Speaker 7: the time you hit Thanksgiving. Because reasons. But we've covered
- 12:41Speaker 7: that in the past. It's always the way it is. Like,
- 12:43Speaker 7: we just kind of do different things by the time
- 12:45Speaker 7: we hit the end of the year. So I was like, oh,
- 12:47Speaker 7: we're coming up on that. Oh, wait. Did we do
- 12:50Speaker 7: any at the first of the year? And then I
- 12:52Speaker 7: went back and looked. I was like, no, we didn't.
- 12:55Speaker 7: So I was like, I'll be damned if we're going
- 12:56Speaker 7: to go through all of 2020 and not sit down.
- 12:59Speaker 7: We did one... Phoner Zoom version, which is different.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I think I fell asleep to that.
- 13:04Speaker 7: Those were fine, but, you know, again, I like being
- 13:07Speaker 7: in the same room and touching all these toys.
- 13:11Speaker 8: You get off my toys.
- 13:12Speaker 7: But that's the thing. I was like, all right, if
- 13:15Speaker 7: you've got some sort of time that we can get together,
- 13:18Speaker 7: we need it at least just to, like, screw you, 2020.
- 13:22Speaker 7: We're going to record one episode at least.
- 13:25Speaker 8: This year's been a clusterfuck.
- 13:27Speaker 7: It's just... Every day is another level.
- 13:30Speaker 1: You've got another baby Yoda hiding over here that I
- 13:32Speaker 1: just saw.
- 13:32Speaker 8: That's one of the duplicates. Surprise!
- 13:36Speaker 1: Where the hell did that one come from?
- 13:37Speaker 8: I had like four of them over here earlier. I
- 13:41Speaker 8: just moved them over there. This is the one with
- 13:43Speaker 8: his little bone broth.
- 13:47Speaker 7: So, I was like, damn it, we're going to do
- 13:50Speaker 7: an episode together if at all humanly possible.
- 13:53Speaker 8: Just make sure you're home before the curfew.
- 13:54Speaker 7: That's a whole other issue to get into that we
- 13:57Speaker 7: will not. So, all right. Speaking of Baby Yoda's, because
- 14:02Speaker 7: I'm looking at a mountain of them right now. Oh,
- 14:04Speaker 7: my God.
- 14:05Speaker 8: How cute is the Baby Yoda?
- 14:05Speaker 7: Earlier today, I saw, I didn't know if you'd seen
- 14:08Speaker 7: this because, you know, nobody's going out in the world.
- 14:10Speaker 7: But when I went out into the world today, there
- 14:13Speaker 7: was a car in the parking lot and it had
- 14:15Speaker 7: a bumper sticker on it. And it had a little
- 14:16Speaker 7: picture of Baby Yoda. And it said, my child can
- 14:19Speaker 7: levitate your child.
- 14:21Speaker 8: Don't I have that magnet on the refrigerator?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you do.
- 14:25Speaker 7: See, there you go. I was like, if you've been
- 14:27Speaker 7: out in the world, you probably already have it. But
- 14:29Speaker 7: you may have not seen it yet. So, yep, bumper sticker.
- 14:32Speaker 8: You know my commitment phobia with stickers and bumper stickers?
- 14:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I get that too. I have my fix. My
- 14:42Speaker 7: adjustment of that is I have these... You've seen them
- 14:47Speaker 7: a million years ago. I've had these things forever. They're
- 14:49Speaker 7: like plastic shell drawers, but they're almost transparent. They're mostly transparent,
- 14:58Speaker 7: but you can see through them. So now I've taken
- 15:02Speaker 7: all the stickers that I'm like, I don't really want
- 15:04Speaker 7: to stick that somewhere because then what happens when I
- 15:05Speaker 7: have to get rid of whatever the hell it's stuck on?
- 15:07Speaker 7: So now I've shoved them in the front of this
- 15:09Speaker 7: so you can see them through so I'm enjoying the
- 15:12Speaker 7: cool stickers that I have without actually having to adhere
- 15:15Speaker 7: them to anything.
- 15:16Speaker 8: See, it's not just me.
- 15:17Speaker 7: I cheated.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I just stick stuff on stuff.
- 15:19Speaker 8: Do you stick shit everywhere?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I put stickers all over shit.
- 15:22Speaker 8: As much as I wish you would not put stickers,
- 15:24Speaker 8: you put stickers.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Sometimes I put them upside down. Slightly canted.
- 15:27Speaker 7: Oh man, you are so punk rock.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I just slap. I slap shit.
- 15:31Speaker 7: You must be one of them skateboard kids. Yeah, pretty much.
- 15:34Speaker 7: Putting stickers on crooked and shit.
- 15:37Speaker 8: Upside down. There are several within my daily viewing range
- 15:41Speaker 8: that are upside down. And they're stuck because they're stickers
- 15:44Speaker 8: and that's what they are there for.
- 15:48Speaker 7: So, how's it been going since last year when we
- 15:52Speaker 7: sat in the same room and spoke?
- 15:53Speaker 8: This year sucked. I'm tired. I'm tired. Usually I'm not
- 15:58Speaker 8: one to bitch about a year sucking. Usually I'm just like,
- 16:00Speaker 8: you know, everybody's sitting there that, oh, 2019 sucked. Oh,
- 16:04Speaker 8: you all should have appreciated 2019.
- 16:05Speaker 7: Yeah, really. I mean, to me, I just ride one
- 16:08Speaker 7: week to the next and we're doing something for the show.
- 16:11Speaker 7: That's what I was talking about recently. I was like,
- 16:13Speaker 7: this year was just its own weird vacation because we
- 16:15Speaker 7: didn't do anything for the show.
- 16:17Speaker 8: I know, it's kind of lame.
- 16:17Speaker 7: It was just, who can I talk to and do
- 16:21Speaker 7: I have to use Zoom? That's been the fight week
- 16:24Speaker 7: in and week out this year.
- 16:25Speaker 1: This has just been all work. I mean, we got-
- 16:28Speaker 1: We're essential.
- 16:29Speaker 7: You damned essential worker, you. I know.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I was like, they told everyone, oh, we're going to
- 16:34Speaker 1: have to shut down. You know, businesses are going to
- 16:36Speaker 1: have to shut down. I was like, fuck yeah, I'm
- 16:38Speaker 1: going to be off work for a little while. That's
- 16:41Speaker 1: going to be awesome, which in a way, probably it's
- 16:43Speaker 1: a good thing that I'm not.
- 16:44Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what I've said all along. I was like,
- 16:46Speaker 7: I'm not going to complain because I had to go
- 16:48Speaker 7: to work, but I will a little bit because I
- 16:50Speaker 7: don't want to.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Go to work.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But I'm amazed that we were not, like at our work,
- 16:55Speaker 1: we weren't affected at all.
- 16:57Speaker 7: I mean, it's.
- 16:58Speaker 8: I wish I could say that.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It's just been, you know, in a way it's good.
- 17:02Speaker 1: In a way it's bad because it's good because we
- 17:05Speaker 1: don't have to, because I know there are a lot
- 17:06Speaker 1: of people right now that are struggling and a lot
- 17:08Speaker 1: of them are really worried about their finances.
- 17:09Speaker 7: Yeah, that's why I'm like, I don't want to, I
- 17:11Speaker 7: don't want to be a bitch about anything.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I was like, God damn it. These people are off
- 17:15Speaker 1: work and they're, and they're riding bikes and they're, and
- 17:18Speaker 1: they're cleaning their yard and they're cleaning their houses and
- 17:21Speaker 1: they're adding on new additions to their houses and shit
- 17:23Speaker 1: like that. And our house is a mess. And my
- 17:25Speaker 1: yard's a wreck. Everybody around me is probably pissed off
- 17:29Speaker 1: at me. Because everybody has like immaculate yards. And my
- 17:32Speaker 1: yard looks like.
- 17:32Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 17:34Speaker 8: Did they ever finish that last square in the neighbor's yard?
- 17:36Speaker 7: No.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Well, our neighbor next door, his yard's a mess too.
- 17:39Speaker 1: So we kind of match. But he works. He works
- 17:42Speaker 1: constantly too. I think he's a firefighter.
- 17:44Speaker 7: But. There are a lot of things on fire lately.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 7: I just.
- 17:49Speaker 10: You know.
- 17:49Speaker 8: I just.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Haven't had time. It just seems like all we do
- 17:52Speaker 1: is work and then come home and then you're so
- 17:55Speaker 1: tired from work that, you know, you just kind of
- 17:57Speaker 1: like sit on your phone and veg out. Next thing
- 18:00Speaker 1: you know, it's time to go to bed and time
- 18:01Speaker 1: to get up and go do it all over again.
- 18:03Speaker 7: You know?
- 18:03Speaker 8: That sucks for me because I'm having to deal with
- 18:06Speaker 8: all the stuff people are buying online.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Because there's no places.
- 18:10Speaker 8: So we've been damn near working peak hours like now.
- 18:13Speaker 7: You guys have been slammed. All you Amazon bastards out
- 18:16Speaker 7: there ordering your stuff. When it comes broken, you know why.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Amazon, eBay, Walmart Marketplace, all that stuff.
- 18:25Speaker 8: Dude.
- 18:27Speaker 7: So, it's been a fun year.
- 18:31Speaker 1: It's been a year of not getting to go on vacation, really.
- 18:35Speaker 7: But hitting so many bookstores. Yeah, that's the only thing.
- 18:38Speaker 7: You've made up for it recently with the bookstore.
- 18:40Speaker 8: I'm on a recent kick of old horror books. There's
- 18:45Speaker 8: a moldy one right by your elbow that's got a
- 18:47Speaker 8: really awesome cover, but I had to go buy a
- 18:49Speaker 8: duplicate of it because it has mold on the inside.
- 18:51Speaker 8: But look at that fucking cover.
- 18:53Speaker 1: It's not really mold.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Spooky.
- 18:55Speaker 7: It's got a demon face on it.
- 18:57Speaker 8: He's a movie theater person. He's a movie theater demon.
- 19:02Speaker 7: He's an usher. He's a ticket taker. He's at the
- 19:05Speaker 7: little ticket taker window.
- 19:06Speaker 8: But it's mold.
- 19:07Speaker 7: And he's a demon looking thing.
- 19:08Speaker 8: But yeah, I have found some of the most awesome
- 19:10Speaker 8: bookstores in the area that I did not know existed
- 19:12Speaker 8: before this year. Because I'm like, huh. Where can we
- 19:16Speaker 8: go now? Because we're not going anywhere else.
- 19:18Speaker 7: No, really.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yeah, we've been doing a lot of local stuff.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Local bookstores.
- 19:24Speaker 8: And by local, I mean we went two hours.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:28Speaker 8: Three hours to Nashville.
- 19:29Speaker 7: Miniature runs, you know. Not the full-on trips.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Well, it was a two-hour trip that turned into a
- 19:33Speaker 1: five-hour trip.
- 19:35Speaker 8: Was it that short of a.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Maybe it was a six-hour trip. Because we got halfway
- 19:40Speaker 1: there and then the brakes locked up on my element,
- 19:42Speaker 1: so I had to I had to hobble it back home,
- 19:44Speaker 1: park it, and then grab the Civic and take off.
- 19:46Speaker 8: And then I was deaf for days.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It's not that loud.
- 19:50Speaker 8: It is that loud. I had heard humming for like
- 19:54Speaker 8: a month.
- 19:55Speaker 1: It's a race car.
- 19:56Speaker 8: We're not a race car.
- 19:58Speaker 1: You don't know.
- 20:00Speaker 8: Is it a kind of sculpture?
- 20:02Speaker 7: Huh?
- 20:02Speaker 8: What?
- 20:02Speaker 7: Well, I got to collect my stack of weird movie
- 20:09Speaker 7: adaption books adaptations movie tie-ins i've had i had a
- 20:15Speaker 7: ton of and that's why i hadn't thought about it
- 20:17Speaker 7: because i don't need more stuff ever really truthfully but
- 20:20Speaker 7: when has that ever stopped me so i had a
- 20:22Speaker 7: ton of them from when i was a kid and
- 20:24Speaker 7: then like they're in a as previously mentioned in a
- 20:28Speaker 7: box somewhere that i don't know where the hell most
- 20:29Speaker 7: of them are but i had a few of them
- 20:31Speaker 7: that i picked up in the last few years that
- 20:33Speaker 7: were just like weird that were just like they made
- 20:36Speaker 7: a book of this like walking tall part two. They
- 20:40Speaker 7: made a book of walking tall part two. Really? Yeah.
- 20:44Speaker 7: So I was just like, it was stuff like that,
- 20:46Speaker 7: that I was just like, who, who, who buys the book,
- 20:49Speaker 7: the movie?
- 20:50Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 20:50Speaker 7: When did it come out? Cause I remember 70s. I mean,
- 20:53Speaker 7: that was, there was a whole market of books for
- 20:56Speaker 7: movies and vice versa.
- 20:58Speaker 1: But I remember, I remember going to the public library, uh,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and this is before VHS, uh, was even a thing.
- 21:05Speaker 1: But I remember going to the public library and checking
- 21:08Speaker 1: out books of movies specifically because I couldn't watch the movie.
- 21:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I've heard other geeks, like, that was, if you
- 21:15Speaker 7: go back that far, that was a thing. Like, I
- 21:16Speaker 7: couldn't go and see R-rated movies, but the books of
- 21:20Speaker 7: them they'd let me read. So, like, I could find
- 21:23Speaker 7: out all I wanted about that.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Well, I mean, even when, like, even at the time
- 21:29Speaker 1: when VHS came out, when a new movie came out
- 21:32Speaker 1: to the screen... It always seemed like it took like
- 21:34Speaker 1: a year before it actually made it.
- 21:36Speaker 7: It usually did, yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: So I remember one of the specific movie books I
- 21:40Speaker 1: remember buying was The Last Crusade.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I think that's the right one.
- 21:46Speaker 7: Indiana Jones? Yeah. Third one. Sean Connery? Sean Connery, yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Okay, yeah.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So when we went to Thailand, I checked out Temple
- 21:55Speaker 1: of Doom and I bought The Last Crusade on paperback.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And those were the two books I read while I
- 22:04Speaker 1: was on the plane and while I was in Thailand.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Just because.
- 22:08Speaker 1: It's Indiana Jones.
- 22:11Speaker 7: Yeah, it's Indiana Jones. Why would you not?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Everything's going to be in Thai, and I needed my
- 22:15Speaker 1: own stash of stuff.
- 22:18Speaker 7: My geek fix while I'm gone.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 8: And that's the last time you read a book.
- 22:25Speaker 7: Pretty close for me. I've read books.
- 22:26Speaker 8: Come on.
- 22:27Speaker 7: I did have my, but again, it was one of
- 22:29Speaker 7: those that like for the moment I was like, this,
- 22:31Speaker 7: this is a weird different thing. Like the, because half
- 22:35Speaker 7: the time they'll like base the book version off of
- 22:39Speaker 7: like early screenplay drafts. So by the time it becomes
- 22:42Speaker 7: the movie, half of it's not there anymore.
- 22:44Speaker 1: It's not, that's the way it was with like, um,
- 22:46Speaker 1: I think the temple of doom, but there was stuff
- 22:48Speaker 1: in the book that was like, uh, you know, I
- 22:51Speaker 1: was like, what in the world? And even, uh, when
- 22:54Speaker 1: I had read the last crusade, of course it was
- 22:56Speaker 1: before I actually saw the last crusade.
- 22:59Speaker 7: So. You spoiled it for yourself. Well, you know. Except
- 23:01Speaker 7: they probably changed everything.
- 23:02Speaker 1: In a way I kind of did because when I
- 23:04Speaker 1: saw the movie, the movie was not anywhere near as
- 23:08Speaker 1: good as the book, which is weird because I enjoyed
- 23:12Speaker 1: the movie, but my imagination is, I guess not a kid, uh,
- 23:19Speaker 1: Not really a kid. I guess whatever you are when
- 23:21Speaker 1: you're like 18, 19, 18, 17, whatever, however old you are.
- 23:25Speaker 7: Still kind of a kid. Technically an adult, but still
- 23:28Speaker 7: kind of a kid.
- 23:28Speaker 1: My imagination was so much better than the actual effects
- 23:32Speaker 1: on the film. By the time I saw the film,
- 23:35Speaker 1: I was just kind of like, this is cool, but
- 23:38Speaker 1: my mind, it was so much better.
- 23:43Speaker 7: They're different. Yeah. I just always keep them in different areas.
- 23:47Speaker 7: But yeah, I remember like Of course, no surprise, I
- 23:50Speaker 7: had the Back to the Future book. There's totally different
- 23:53Speaker 7: stuff going on in that book that was cut from
- 23:55Speaker 7: the screenplay, like three screenplays earlier when they rewrote it.
- 23:59Speaker 7: So yeah, there's whole other weird stuff going on. And
- 24:01Speaker 7: I'm like, this isn't in the movie.
- 24:03Speaker 6: What's going on with this?
- 24:04Speaker 7: So now, a million years later, I'm like, I think
- 24:08Speaker 7: I'm going to get some more of those weird movie adaptations.
- 24:11Speaker 3: So, yep.
- 24:13Speaker 8: I've got two that I'm aware of. And a license
- 24:17Speaker 8: to drive.
- 24:18Speaker 7: Of course.
- 24:18Speaker 8: And Harry and the Hendersons.
- 24:22Speaker 7: Very impressive novel. I've got none. Well, I have an
- 24:31Speaker 7: extra stack because now Misty just knows what geeky things
- 24:34Speaker 7: I'm into. So she just like goes to other. Now
- 24:36Speaker 7: I don't have to go to these bookstores because you
- 24:38Speaker 7: just like, hey, do you want this?
- 24:40Speaker 8: You have to go to bookstores so that you can
- 24:42Speaker 8: look for stuff that I want.
- 24:43Speaker 7: That's, yeah. When I do it here, but I usually
- 24:45Speaker 7: don't drive that far because it's just me and I'm
- 24:47Speaker 7: just sitting at home. Occasionally, I'm like, hey, do you
- 24:50Speaker 7: have this weird girl running away from a scary house?
- 24:52Speaker 8: This girl melting away from my house.
- 24:54Speaker 7: That was the one I found this time. She's blowing
- 24:56Speaker 7: away in the wind. That is some weird cover art.
- 24:59Speaker 7: What is going on with her body?
- 25:03Speaker 1: That's not a natural human pose.
- 25:05Speaker 7: Nope. No, it's not.
- 25:06Speaker 8: Is she trying to go through the gate pelvis first?
- 25:08Speaker 7: Of course, I saw that and thought of Misty. I'm like,
- 25:10Speaker 7: look at this weird chick. I think Misty needs this
- 25:12Speaker 7: book Yeah, I'm not even.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Sure what's going on there. She does look like she's
- 25:16Speaker 1: kind of like, I'm just going to pelvic thrust this
- 25:19Speaker 1: gate open.
- 25:21Speaker 8: She just didn't read the book.
- 25:24Speaker 7: It'll drive you insane.
- 25:27Speaker 8: Hell yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 11: Hi, I'm Patricia Quinn, and you're luckily listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 25:39Speaker 7: Michael Rainey was ill the day the earth stood still
- 25:44Speaker 7: But he told us where we stand.
- 25:50Speaker 10: And Flash Gordon was.
- 25:51Speaker 9: There in silver underwear Claude Rains was the invisible man
- 25:58Speaker 9: Then something.
- 26:12Speaker 7: I'll take every cent you've made.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Go on the list.
- 26:18Speaker 7: I do want to do... I almost went with that
- 26:21Speaker 7: one first. Had I enough money to rent it? Sadly,
- 26:23Speaker 7: I don't because... That's the lifestyle. I'm rolling coin to
- 26:27Speaker 7: make this thing survive, which, by the way, this week
- 26:31Speaker 7: I only came up with $ 2 worth of nickels. So, hint, hint,
- 26:35Speaker 7: if you'd like to kick in and, like, join the
- 26:37Speaker 7: club and, like, keep this thing going, it's kind of
- 26:41Speaker 7: hard to do without any funding. Mostly, I mean, at
- 26:44Speaker 7: this point, maybe even more so than, like, funding. it's
- 26:47Speaker 7: like an endorsement. It's like, we, you know, we appreciate
- 26:50Speaker 7: what you guys, not just me, like what all, I mean,
- 26:53Speaker 7: the number of people I've roped into doing this. It's like,
- 26:56Speaker 7: I feel like the more people that join up and
- 26:58Speaker 7: kind of join that Patreon page, like it shows people
- 27:01Speaker 7: that there's some reason to come on board, that there
- 27:04Speaker 7: are other people out there that appreciate this kind of stuff. So, Hey,
- 27:07Speaker 7: kick in now. That's what I'm saying. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Speaking of kicking in, I'm going to kick in my
- 27:12Speaker 4: milk to your, My Milketeer donation right away.
- 27:17Speaker 7: He's throwing cash at me right now. You guys don't
- 27:19Speaker 7: have to do it this way. You can just go
- 27:21Speaker 7: to the website. Go to MovieMeltdown.com. Click on the Patreon link.
- 27:26Speaker 7: Why are you throwing money at me?
- 27:27Speaker 4: I'm throwing money at you because I happen to have
- 27:29Speaker 4: some cash in my pocket. And I'm going to get
- 27:32Speaker 4: more when I get back at my house. So I felt,
- 27:35Speaker 4: you know, like, since I so rarely contribute anything of
- 27:38Speaker 4: value to the Meltdown circus.
- 27:40Speaker 7: That's not true. Words are valuable. Oh, my God.
- 27:46Speaker 4: But in any event, yeah, join up with Movie Meltdown
- 27:50Speaker 4: right now.
- 27:50Speaker 3: That's what I keep saying.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's a fantastic world to be a part of.
- 27:54Speaker 4: It's the world of terrible movies and the world of
- 27:56Speaker 4: the people who love them.
- 27:58Speaker 7: That's, yeah, that's a pretty good representation. And occasionally we
- 28:01Speaker 7: actually talk about a good movie. Yeah, well, but don't
- 28:04Speaker 7: tell the normies that. Occasionally, I'm like, hey, let's go
- 28:09Speaker 7: watch a new movie. And oh, look, this actually was good. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 7: Many other times, we're just watching Wolf Girl. So if
- 28:16Speaker 7: you want to hear us recap Wolf Girl or Atomic
- 28:19Speaker 7: Age Vampire or some other, again, if you... Get on board.
- 28:23Speaker 7: I want it to be interactive. I have levels where
- 28:26Speaker 7: I'm like, you can pick out a movie. Again, the
- 28:29Speaker 7: more we kind of make the club grow, I've got
- 28:32Speaker 7: a couple other ways I'd like to get people involved.
- 28:34Speaker 7: But at this point, there's not really a ton of
- 28:37Speaker 7: people to do it with. So I'm just like, never mind.
- 28:40Speaker 7: We'll wait until we lure some more people in. And
- 28:42Speaker 7: so far, we're still waiting for the rest of it.
- 28:45Speaker 7: So don't wait around anymore. Get on board now, and
- 28:48Speaker 7: then we can make this more of a big interactive club.
- 28:51Speaker 7: and you can get involved. To come over and join
- 28:54Speaker 7: the club over at the Movie Meltdown Patreon page. If
- 28:57Speaker 7: you just chip in a couple of bucks, you keep
- 28:59Speaker 7: the show going, and I can keep lining up great
- 29:01Speaker 7: guests and putting together these cool conversations that we have
- 29:05Speaker 7: every week. So just go to patreon.com slash movie meltdown,
- 29:08Speaker 7: or go to movie meltdown.com, and the link is right
- 29:11Speaker 7: there at the top of the page. Click on it,
- 29:13Speaker 7: kick in a couple of bucks, and you help keep
- 29:15Speaker 7: the show going. Plus, you get exclusive episodes every month.
- 29:19Speaker 7: So go to our site, become a Melketeer, get cool stuff,
- 29:22Speaker 7: and keep the show rolling. Damn the man, save the meltdown.
- 29:25Speaker 10: Melketeer Millions were touched by the motion pictures Walking Tall
- 29:42Speaker 10: and Part 2 Walking Tall. Now, for the first time,

- 29:58Speaker 10: together brought back to tell the complete true story of

- 30:05Speaker 2: Settle back now, content, comfortable, well-fed, and ready for some
- 30:09Speaker 2: fine entertainment. Is everybody happy? Then let's go. It's showtime.
- 30:26Speaker 7: Well, would you like to give a full rundown of
- 30:29Speaker 7: everything you've seen in the last six months?
- 30:30Speaker 8: Should we talk about some of it before we forget
- 30:32Speaker 8: that we watched all of it?
- 30:33Speaker 7: Yeah, sure. Probably.
- 30:35Speaker 8: What do you want to talk about that we watched first?
- 30:37Speaker 1: Why don't you go in the order that they are
- 30:39Speaker 1: sitting on our pile of DVDs that have been watched.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Or Blu-rays.
- 30:43Speaker 7: Sorry, Blu-rays. See, it's helpful. Normally, we're not sitting directly
- 30:46Speaker 7: in front of your movies, and you're like, wait, what
- 30:48Speaker 7: did we see? So now you can just go down
- 30:49Speaker 7: the stack.
- 30:50Speaker 8: We watched Thrashing.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Fuck yeah, we did. God, I love that movie.
- 30:55Speaker 8: I'd never seen that movie, but then it's like, Boykram
- 30:58Speaker 8: was talking about it, and he's talking about, we kept
- 31:00Speaker 8: watching a lot of skateboarding videos and shit, and I'm
- 31:03Speaker 8: just like, Let's watch Thrashing. Look how pretty little Josh
- 31:07Speaker 8: Brolin is.
- 31:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 8: And how gorgeous Sherilyn Finn is.
- 31:13Speaker 7: I mean.
- 31:15Speaker 8: She was.
- 31:15Speaker 7: You're hard-pressed to find young Sherilyn Finn that isn't gorgeous.
- 31:19Speaker 7: Even now, in her mom jeans, you know, she's still
- 31:21Speaker 7: probably doing just fine. But young Sherilyn Finn.
- 31:25Speaker 8: I'm serious.
- 31:25Speaker 7: You gotta take a breather, man. It's rough.
- 31:28Speaker 8: The weird thing is, I didn't even recognize... I didn't.
- 31:31Speaker 7: Realize she was in it.
- 31:33Speaker 8: I think when I bought it, I remember seeing her
- 31:36Speaker 8: in the credits. But when we started, it was probably
- 31:39Speaker 8: several months after I bought it that we decided to
- 31:41Speaker 8: watch it. And I first saw her, I'm like, it
- 31:44Speaker 8: didn't even click. And then there was like this one
- 31:46Speaker 8: scene where she talks to the douchebag guy.
- 31:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 8: And I was like, holy shit, that's Sherilyn Finn. She
- 31:54Speaker 8: had her hair different. Her hair was different. I'm like,
- 31:55Speaker 8: oh my God, she's gorgeous. A little baby Josh Brolin.
- 31:59Speaker 8: I was like, oh, look, a little baby Josh Brolin.
- 32:03Speaker 7: Look how cute he is. He's a guy that came
- 32:06Speaker 7: full circle. Like, he disappeared for a good... He did it, like,
- 32:09Speaker 7: totally wrong. Like, normally that mid-range is when you're supposed
- 32:12Speaker 7: to get all your super, like, fancy starring roles. He, like,
- 32:15Speaker 7: skipped the part when everybody else is super famous. He
- 32:18Speaker 7: was like, I'm kind of famous as a kid, and
- 32:20Speaker 7: then came back almost past the point when everybody... Like,
- 32:23Speaker 7: he was pretty old by the time he had his, like, resurgence.
- 32:26Speaker 7: And like now he's like A-list superstar again. But I'm like,
- 32:30Speaker 7: he waited way late in his career to become a
- 32:32Speaker 7: superstar like he did.
- 32:33Speaker 8: He was a superstar. Fucking Goonies.
- 32:36Speaker 7: It's still on the kid's side for me. Yeah. Yep.
- 32:39Speaker 7: He skipped the middle part there. So I don't know.
- 32:41Speaker 7: It was just a weird career decision for him. I
- 32:43Speaker 7: don't know if they purposely did it.
- 32:44Speaker 8: Are you trying to imply that Jonah Hex did not
- 32:47Speaker 8: make him a superstar?
- 32:49Speaker 7: Jonah Hex was enough to ruin most people.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Oh, I forgot he was in Jonah Hex.
- 32:53Speaker 7: He went above and beyond.
- 32:55Speaker 8: You were too distracted by toe thumbs to realize anybody
- 32:58Speaker 8: else was in that movie.
- 32:59Speaker 7: Climbed out of the hole that was Jonah Hex and survived.
- 33:03Speaker 1: The Thrashing is such a great movie. I mean, during
- 33:05Speaker 1: this whole, like, shit-demic, I've just been kind of going
- 33:09Speaker 1: back to, like, a lot of 80s stuff. And for
- 33:13Speaker 1: a while, kind of going back to 90s stuff, too.
- 33:16Speaker 1: You know, just because I'm thinking, like, yeah, geez, what
- 33:18Speaker 1: a great decade.
- 33:19Speaker 7: 90s. It is one of those, the 80s almost immediately
- 33:23Speaker 7: became its own little nostalgic thing, and I didn't realize
- 33:27Speaker 7: how specifically identifiable the 90s was until I got further away,
- 33:32Speaker 7: and now I look back and I'm like, oh yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 7: the 90s is so specific.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 33:37Speaker 7: Yeah, so it's when you get to the early zeros,
- 33:40Speaker 7: I'm just like, eh. Nothing really has that same feel,
- 33:44Speaker 7: but maybe it's just because I'm still too close, so
- 33:47Speaker 7: give it 20 more years if I'm not dead. If
- 33:49Speaker 7: I look back, I'll just be like, oh yeah, the 2000s.
- 33:51Speaker 7: That was kind of a thing.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Maybe the 2000s just for right now, they seem to
- 33:56Speaker 1: blend too much into like every, like from 2000 to 2020. Yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Seems like it's just blended.
- 34:02Speaker 7: And I can't, half the time I can't even remember.
- 34:04Speaker 7: I was like, what was that movie? 2010? Oh no, 2002.
- 34:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:07Speaker 7: That's a huge span of time that I'm like, I
- 34:09Speaker 7: don't know. It's just a big blur.
- 34:11Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 34:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 1: That's, that's the way I look at a lot of things.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, like my car. I'm like, I'm
- 34:18Speaker 1: like 2003.
- 34:18Speaker 7: That's new. I do that all the time is the
- 34:22Speaker 7: scary thing. I'm just like, yeah, it was just the
- 34:24Speaker 7: other day. What was that?
- 34:25Speaker 3: 2007.
- 34:25Speaker 7: Wait, what was, oh shit. Yeah. I'm doing math. No,
- 34:29Speaker 7: I got to get a calculator. Hold on.
- 34:30Speaker 8: Shit.
- 34:30Speaker 7: That's a long time ago. Yeah. Whoa. It's disturbing really.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yeah. So it is different than like when you look
- 34:37Speaker 1: into the nineties, for some reason, the nineties and the eighties,
- 34:41Speaker 1: I can remember very specific things. Uh, throughout those years.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I mean, there are things that happened at very specific
- 34:49Speaker 1: times during the eighties and during the nineties that I can.
- 34:53Speaker 1: You know, I can be like, oh yeah, that was
- 34:54Speaker 1: 95 or that was 96 or that was 86.
- 34:57Speaker 7: I can definitely do that with movies. Like I know
- 35:00Speaker 7: what year all that stuff came out then and specifically remember.
- 35:03Speaker 7: But again, I watched stuff in the 2000s, but for
- 35:06Speaker 7: some reason, none of it sticks. I'm like, what year
- 35:09Speaker 7: did that come out?
- 35:10Speaker 8: It's the 2000s.
- 35:12Speaker 7: Was that two years ago or 18 years ago? I
- 35:14Speaker 7: don't know. It's a big blur. I don't remember. That
- 35:18Speaker 7: was yesterday, right? Yeah, 2002. That wasn't yesterday.
- 35:23Speaker 1: But yeah, that's kind of part of the reason. Well,
- 35:25Speaker 1: I mean, Misty had bought the Blu-ray. And I was
- 35:28Speaker 1: just like, hell yeah, Thrash. And God, I haven't seen
- 35:30Speaker 1: that in forever. We need to watch that. And I
- 35:33Speaker 1: think it was one of those nights where I actually
- 35:35Speaker 1: got to pick a movie. And it was pretty.
- 35:37Speaker 8: Hey, I ask you all the time, what do you
- 35:39Speaker 8: want to watch? And you're like, I don't care. And
- 35:40Speaker 8: I'm like, fine, I'll pick something.
- 35:42Speaker 7: I guess you better jump on that then.
- 35:44Speaker 8: Or I just randomly... You're just sitting there, and I'm like,
- 35:46Speaker 8: all right, I'm watching a movie.
- 35:47Speaker 7: I'm watching this movie. You can move or keep staring forward.
- 35:51Speaker 8: Why didn't you just stare at his phone?
- 35:53Speaker 1: But yeah, that was one that.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I think that was one where you're like, are you
- 35:58Speaker 1: just going to fall asleep? Pick a movie and fall asleep?
- 36:01Speaker 6: No.
- 36:01Speaker 7: Oh, no, I picked Idle Hands.
- 36:05Speaker 1: We watched that, too.
- 36:07Speaker 7: That's awesome.
- 36:07Speaker 8: It's a classic.
- 36:08Speaker 7: I fucking love Idle Hands. It has been a long
- 36:09Speaker 7: time since I've revisited when I think about it now,
- 36:12Speaker 7: but I'm just like.
- 36:14Speaker 8: You just moved right down the list because that one's
- 36:15Speaker 8: like right down below me.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Oh, is it right down the list? See, I can't
- 36:19Speaker 1: see that far, but I remember Idle Hands because I
- 36:21Speaker 1: was like, hell yeah, I picked two movies in a row.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Idle Hands.
- 36:26Speaker 8: I love that movie. I forget how much I love
- 36:28Speaker 8: that movie. That movie is timeless. That movie will never.
- 36:30Speaker 7: Forget stuff that goes on in it. And at some point,
- 36:35Speaker 7: either it will come up, which I don't know that
- 36:37Speaker 7: it comes up all that often, but just enough that
- 36:38Speaker 7: I remember a specific scene. I'm like, oh yeah, that
- 36:41Speaker 7: happens in there too. Look at me! Well, that's just
- 36:44Speaker 7: because we quoted that every day of our lives since
- 36:47Speaker 7: the movie came out. It's rare that I go very
- 36:50Speaker 7: long without saying that. And people would probably think I'm
- 36:53Speaker 7: quoting the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but nope, none of those
- 36:57Speaker 7: sequels and or reboots. It's all Idle Hands.
- 37:00Speaker 8: It's such a great movie. The delightfully homophobic Jack Noseworthy.
- 37:08Speaker 7: I don't remember most of that. That's why you go
- 37:12Speaker 7: back and revisit and you're like, oh, there's some aspects
- 37:15Speaker 7: to this.
- 37:16Speaker 8: I meant that sarcastically. I don't find homophobia even remotely delightful.
- 37:23Speaker 7: But movies, again, going back to especially the 80s, so
- 37:27Speaker 7: many movies that I forget because when you're immersed in it,
- 37:31Speaker 7: that was the way it was. People want to kind
- 37:34Speaker 7: of talk bad about it now, but I'm like, yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 7: but I went to school then. And that's the way
- 37:38Speaker 7: guys in particular talked. Like that was just normal goings on.
- 37:44Speaker 7: Like it was just weather. Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Oh, I think somebody got on me one time online.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Cause I was, I was saying, you know, Oh, geez,
- 37:52Speaker 1: I don't even know what it, what it was. This
- 37:53Speaker 1: is like maybe a year or two ago, uh, before
- 37:56Speaker 1: they announced the reboot of the bill and Ted movie
- 37:59Speaker 1: or not the reboot, the, the sequel, uh, And I
- 38:02Speaker 1: was just like, why can't we just be like Bill
- 38:03Speaker 1: and Ted and just be excellent at each other? And
- 38:06Speaker 1: somebody was like, uh, that movie's very homophobic. And I
- 38:09Speaker 1: was like, what?
- 38:10Speaker 7: There's one line.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they just fucking tore into me over
- 38:16Speaker 1: that one line.
- 38:17Speaker 7: One line. I was like, dude.
- 38:18Speaker 8: It's been years since I've seen it, so I have
- 38:20Speaker 8: no idea what you're talking about.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Fucking, you know, when it came out, I was like...
- 38:23Speaker 1: Say the F word.
- 38:24Speaker 7: That other F word. Yeah, you know, so.
- 38:27Speaker 8: Well, they said it in idle hands.
- 38:29Speaker 7: That's what I'm saying. That was just normal speech if
- 38:32Speaker 7: you were a high school kid or even grade school
- 38:34Speaker 7: kid in the 80s and into the 90s. That's kind
- 38:37Speaker 7: of the way it was. I'm not saying it was right. No,
- 38:40Speaker 7: there were a lot of things that were wrong then.
- 38:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 1: But that's the way life was. We sound like old people.
- 38:48Speaker 7: Well, but in a way... That's the way it was
- 38:50Speaker 7: back in the day. Now I'm so amazed that I
- 38:53Speaker 7: will see these kids... that are very obviously out. And
- 38:57Speaker 7: I'm just like, dude, you're in school now? I can't
- 39:00Speaker 7: even fathom that. I'm like, you are a brave dude.
- 39:04Speaker 7: Good for you, man. I can't imagine being that kind
- 39:07Speaker 7: of kid. Oh, no, you were not even in a
- 39:09Speaker 7: school that I grew up in.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Anything like that in the 80s, if you were a
- 39:14Speaker 1: boy that wore a pink shirt, you were going to
- 39:16Speaker 1: get the shit beat out of you.
- 39:18Speaker 7: It was that hardcore, pretty much.
- 39:20Speaker 1: There was nothing even, yeah, no, that didn't, that didn't
- 39:24Speaker 1: exist in high school. Cause if it did, you got, yeah,
- 39:27Speaker 1: literally you got the shit.
- 39:28Speaker 7: Beat out of it. So, I mean, of the whole,
- 39:30Speaker 7: things that have happened over the years there's every once
- 39:32Speaker 7: in a while I'm like well you know we've made
- 39:34Speaker 7: some minor progress I'm not saying we're not still a
- 39:37Speaker 7: backwards ass.
- 39:37Speaker 8: Culture it also depends on what part of the country.
- 39:39Speaker 7: You're in yeah and like it's place by place, school
- 39:43Speaker 7: by school, I'm sure.
- 39:44Speaker 1: And everybody has their own freaking version. 80s in California
- 39:48Speaker 1: is different than 80s in Kentucky.
- 39:50Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely. But yeah, I don't know. It's just one
- 39:53Speaker 7: of those every once in a while I'm like, you know,
- 39:55Speaker 7: at least we're not that bad off. We're still in
- 39:58Speaker 7: horrible situations in many areas, but every once in a
- 40:02Speaker 7: while I'm like, baby steps. We've made a little bit
- 40:04Speaker 7: of progress, damn it.
- 40:06Speaker 8: We can say that, but we're not in the situation
- 40:07Speaker 8: of a lot of people who have to deal with
- 40:09Speaker 8: that stuff. Oh no. I mean, we have it easy. Well, no.
- 40:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm saying that from the outside because I don't understand. Like,
- 40:15Speaker 7: I don't get it. But I've at least gotten to
- 40:17Speaker 7: the point now I don't try to speak on it
- 40:21Speaker 7: like I do. Like, that's what frustrates me the most
- 40:23Speaker 7: is when people talk about it as though they understand.
- 40:26Speaker 7: I'm like, no, no, no. I don't get it. I
- 40:28Speaker 7: will be the first to say I do not fully
- 40:31Speaker 7: appreciate or understand what you have gone through, whatever your situation.
- 40:35Speaker 7: I mean, there's everybody else that's living a totally different
- 40:37Speaker 7: life than me. I'm just like, I live my stupid shit,
- 40:40Speaker 7: and yours is probably way harder. So I'm like, more
- 40:43Speaker 7: power to you, man. So yeah, that's the only thing
- 40:46Speaker 7: I've come to now.
- 40:47Speaker 1: The closest you have is your friends. If you've got
- 40:50Speaker 1: friends that have gone through it, then that's the closest.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I mean, you get a glimpse into it, but that's
- 40:56Speaker 1: about as close as it gets. Like you said, if
- 41:00Speaker 1: that's not you and that's not your experiences, then yeah,
- 41:03Speaker 1: you're not going to understand fully.
- 41:04Speaker 7: No, and people just need to accept that. And don't
- 41:08Speaker 7: try to push the way that they think on everybody else.
- 41:12Speaker 7: Because I'm like, you don't understand their life. So just
- 41:14Speaker 7: shut up. That's mine.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Just everybody shut.
- 41:18Speaker 8: Up.
- 41:19Speaker 1: What's the third one down?
- 41:20Speaker 7: I can't see it. That one.
- 41:22Speaker 8: That'd be the people under the stairs.
- 41:24Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 1: We watched that again.
- 41:25Speaker 7: I remember, again, we've only had interactions over the internet
- 41:29Speaker 7: over the last year. I remember you posting about this.
- 41:31Speaker 7: And I was like, yeah, yeah. You don't really remember
- 41:35Speaker 7: the S & M angle, do you?
- 41:38Speaker 1: There's a lot of shit in that movie that I
- 41:39Speaker 1: didn't realize when we went back and watched it that
- 41:42Speaker 1: it was creepy as fuck. And I don't mean like
- 41:45Speaker 1: creepy as fuck in a.
- 41:46Speaker 8: Horror movie scary movie.
- 41:47Speaker 7: Horror movie zombie kids.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But as in a like perverted... Specifically.
- 41:53Speaker 8: The one that specifically stands out to me is when
- 41:55Speaker 8: he has her... When she's up in the attic.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 41:59Speaker 8: And as she's sitting there crying or whatever and he's like.
- 42:02Speaker 1: She asks, she's like, Daddy, I've been good. Can you
- 42:04Speaker 1: let me go? Can you let me go?
- 42:06Speaker 3: You know, yeah.
- 42:08Speaker 7: And what does he do?
- 42:09Speaker 1: You can see him in the background.
- 42:11Speaker 8: He starts like rubbing on himself. And I'm just like, really, guys?
- 42:14Speaker 7: Really?
- 42:14Speaker 8: This is a twisted movie.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:17Speaker 7: And then, you know.
- 42:18Speaker 8: Again, it was one of those that falls under.
- 42:19Speaker 7: It's got kids.
- 42:20Speaker 8: It must be a kid movie because I watched this movie.
- 42:25Speaker 1: It's a kid's movie.
- 42:26Speaker 7: As a kid. Not a kid's movie.
- 42:28Speaker 8: With my grandma.
- 42:30Speaker 7: If you would like to reference the old episodes, then
- 42:33Speaker 7: we'll listen to the Lady in White episode. We cover
- 42:37Speaker 7: this in depth.
- 42:40Speaker 8: Yeah, that was my whole grandma's thing. If it had
- 42:43Speaker 8: kids in it, it must be a kids movie. So
- 42:44Speaker 8: there were so many movies that I watched that I
- 42:46Speaker 8: probably should not have been watching. And this was probably
- 42:48Speaker 8: one of them, because this movie is beyond fucked up.
- 42:52Speaker 7: It's pretty, like I said, pretty twisted. as relatively mainstream movies,
- 42:56Speaker 7: like it was, it opened in theaters. I remember it
- 42:59Speaker 7: being kind of the big movie of that weekend. Like
- 43:02Speaker 7: it wasn't super mainstream cause it's still a weirdo horror
- 43:04Speaker 7: movie and they only get so big, but yeah, I
- 43:07Speaker 7: mean it was relatively mainstream for that kind of movie.
- 43:10Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember when I saw it. Um, I
- 43:13Speaker 1: remember thinking it was pretty disturbing when I saw it,
- 43:15Speaker 1: but we saw it maybe on VHS. It was one
- 43:19Speaker 1: of those.
- 43:19Speaker 7: I don't think I saw it in the theater. I
- 43:20Speaker 7: do think I rented it like as soon as it
- 43:22Speaker 7: hit VHS though.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Actually, depending on what year it came out, my friend
- 43:27Speaker 1: Larry and I may have watched it. Because there was
- 43:30Speaker 1: a time period where me and him both worked third shift.
- 43:36Speaker 1: And so I had actually become friends with him. And
- 43:41Speaker 1: we had kind of a mutual love for horror movies.
- 43:44Speaker 1: And so what we would do is when we got
- 43:46Speaker 1: off work, we would go to this little corner grocery
- 43:51Speaker 1: store over by where we lived and they carried, you know,
- 43:54Speaker 1: they carried movies. So we would find whatever horror movie
- 43:58Speaker 1: they had that we had never seen before. Cause a
- 44:01Speaker 1: lot of times I got new movies in.
- 44:03Speaker 7: So it usually consisted of me, him and his.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Girlfriend sitting around his room, watching horror movies and eating
- 44:08Speaker 1: whatever shitty food that we found at the, at the
- 44:11Speaker 1: gas station.
- 44:12Speaker 7: Sounds pretty good. It's a life. It was fun. Other
- 44:15Speaker 7: than the working third shift.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 7: Working in general. Really?
- 44:18Speaker 1: I think we did this just about every day. Um,
- 44:21Speaker 1: because I mean, we were out of, we were out
- 44:23Speaker 1: of school and it was that point where we were
- 44:26Speaker 1: working a job and you're kind of an adult, but
- 44:28Speaker 1: you're not really, but you're still living at home with
- 44:29Speaker 1: your mom, you know? So, uh, yeah, your parents are,
- 44:33Speaker 1: they're already gone for work and you're just now getting
- 44:35Speaker 1: home from your job. So you're sitting around eating microwave
- 44:38Speaker 1: burritos and drinking a, you know, two liter of Dr.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Pepper and watching horror movies.
- 44:44Speaker 7: So living the life, man.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:46Speaker 8: Those were the good days.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Those were the good days. Yeah, they were. Um, But
- 44:52Speaker 1: what's the one underneath that, the people on the stairs?
- 44:56Speaker 8: Well, I'm pretty sure we've talked about Highlander before, but
- 44:58Speaker 8: we watched that again, so we don't really need to.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, we don't need to go into Highlander.
- 45:01Speaker 7: You can just sum it up with, you love Clancy Brown.
- 45:04Speaker 8: I do love Clancy Brown. That's all we need to know.
- 45:06Speaker 7: All right.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And she's confused on Sean Connery's character.
- 45:12Speaker 8: Hold on.
- 45:13Speaker 7: Everyone's confused by Sean Connery. Is he an Egyptian?
- 45:16Speaker 1: Is he a Spaniard? What is he? He's a Spanish-Egyptian
- 45:20Speaker 1: with a Scottish accent.
- 45:21Speaker 7: All I know is he has a Scottish accent. No
- 45:23Speaker 7: matter who he plays.
- 45:24Speaker 8: Why didn't they just make him a Scottish dude? Why
- 45:26Speaker 8: didn't they make him an Egyptian?
- 45:27Speaker 7: He can be Irish. He can be Russian. He's always
- 45:30Speaker 7: got a Scottish accent.
- 45:31Speaker 8: But he's Egyptian.
- 45:32Speaker 7: He's like, I just don't want to learn other accents. Okay, look.
- 45:36Speaker 7: I'm Sean Connery, damn it. I don't want to learn
- 45:38Speaker 7: anything else. I'm an old man already. Leave me alone. Oh,
- 45:41Speaker 7: my lord.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Overlord. I wanted to see that when that came
- 45:45Speaker 1: out in the theater, and that's one of those that
- 45:50Speaker 1: they did a little bit of advertising on TV, enough
- 45:52Speaker 1: that I was like, holy shit, this looks like Castle Wolfenstein.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I want to see this. And we got it on Blu-ray,
- 45:58Speaker 1: and then it just kind of sat in our pile
- 45:59Speaker 1: for a long time, and I think we forgot we
- 46:01Speaker 1: even had it. And she was like, we've watched this.
- 46:04Speaker 7: I've played that game before. And I had no idea.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I was like, what is it again?
- 46:06Speaker 8: Overlord.
- 46:07Speaker 1: And I was like, what?
- 46:08Speaker 7: Overlord. That sounds terrible. I'm not going to watch that.
- 46:11Speaker 1: I don't know what this is. And then it started.
- 46:13Speaker 7: I was like, oh, yeah.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good movie.
- 46:16Speaker 7: I liked it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: I liked it a lot.
- 46:18Speaker 7: I kind of remember the title. I do not think
- 46:20Speaker 7: I've gotten around to it.
- 46:21Speaker 8: It stars Wyatt Russell. If that helps you at all.
- 46:24Speaker 7: Not really.
- 46:24Speaker 6: No.
- 46:25Speaker 8: It is the son of Kurt Russell.
- 46:27Speaker 7: Oh, yeah. I did see him on something the other day.
- 46:30Speaker 7: But yeah, I mean, come on. World War II.
- 46:33Speaker 8: He's not actually a star, sorry.
- 46:34Speaker 1: He's like a co-star. Nazi occult stuff, crazy experiments. Yeah,
- 46:40Speaker 1: I mean, you can't go wrong with that.
- 46:41Speaker 7: It's almost its own sub-genre.
- 46:43Speaker 2: It is.
- 46:43Speaker 7: There is a ton of movies that have fed into
- 46:45Speaker 7: that over the last, you know, 30 years. It's become
- 46:48Speaker 7: a thing.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you can't go wrong with that.
- 46:50Speaker 7: And it was a good movie. I liked it.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I liked the way it was set up and everything
- 46:53Speaker 1: like that.
- 46:55Speaker 8: Cool.
- 46:55Speaker 1: So, we had fun with that one. What was the
- 46:57Speaker 1: other one underneath that one?
- 46:58Speaker 8: Oh, that was my homework.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Your homework.
- 47:03Speaker 8: Shawshank Redemption.
- 47:05Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that was Misty's homework.
- 47:09Speaker 7: That was before you went or after?
- 47:11Speaker 1: This is after.
- 47:12Speaker 7: Yeah, because you hadn't seen it when you went to
- 47:14Speaker 7: the Shawshank.
- 47:15Speaker 8: I had never seen Shawshank Redemption, which totally blew my
- 47:18Speaker 8: dentist's mind because as much as I adore and just
- 47:21Speaker 8: constantly raved about Clancy Brown because we started talking about
- 47:24Speaker 8: Carnival because it's a classic show and he was excited
- 47:27Speaker 8: because nobody else he knew had seen it. So I
- 47:29Speaker 8: was like up there. But he was blown away that
- 47:32Speaker 8: I'd never seen Shawshank Redemption.
- 47:33Speaker 1: But we've been to the prison.
- 47:35Speaker 8: We have been to the prison, which makes it even
- 47:37Speaker 8: more interesting to actually go back and watch the movie.
- 47:38Speaker 8: So finally, I had to have some more work done.
- 47:40Speaker 8: He's like, well, look, I will give you a discount
- 47:43Speaker 8: on your dental work if you watch Shawshank Redemption.
- 47:47Speaker 1: What kind of dentist does that?
- 47:48Speaker 7: One I need to go to, obviously.
- 47:50Speaker 8: I love my dentist, but now he's retiring, so I'm
- 47:52Speaker 8: never going to get movie discounts again.
- 47:55Speaker 7: Does he have a son? Is he passing it on.
- 47:58Speaker 8: To this kid? I don't think so.
- 47:59Speaker 7: He'll probably like dumb movies and then you'll be like,
- 48:02Speaker 7: I don't want to watch your movies.
- 48:03Speaker 8: He'll be like, watch fucking Fast and Furious.
- 48:06Speaker 7: He'll be like, if you watch my favorite guy, Vin Diesel,
- 48:10Speaker 7: I'll give you... You're like, no. Charge me twice as much.
- 48:13Speaker 7: I don't care.
- 48:13Speaker 8: There was one other movie we should talk about real briefly.
- 48:17Speaker 8: It was one of those where we were just sitting
- 48:18Speaker 8: here and I'm like, fuck this. I'm not gonna... I'm
- 48:21Speaker 8: gonna watch a movie. And I can't, for the life
- 48:23Speaker 8: of me, I've looked it up like ten times and
- 48:25Speaker 8: I cannot, what's the name of the movie?
- 48:27Speaker 1: Oh, The Color, oh, Color Out of Space.
- 48:32Speaker 8: What fucking name is that? I don't even know, that
- 48:34Speaker 8: doesn't even make sense.
- 48:35Speaker 7: This is your dude, Nick.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Lovecraft. Based.
- 48:39Speaker 8: Dude, nobody does batshit crazy quite like Nicolas Cage.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we started watching, I was like, holy shit, Nicolas
- 48:44Speaker 1: Cage is in this. I was like, how's he going
- 48:46Speaker 1: to pull this off?
- 48:49Speaker 7: I heard about it. I have not gotten to it yet.
- 48:51Speaker 1: I really liked it. I did.
- 48:53Speaker 7: I've heard it. If you're okay with that kind of thing,
- 48:57Speaker 7: if your mind is open to what's about to happen,
- 48:59Speaker 7: you'll be on board.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:01Speaker 1: I think it was great.
- 49:03Speaker 8: I didn't know what I was expecting. I don't think
- 49:05Speaker 8: I had any idea that it was Lovecraft-based at all
- 49:08Speaker 8: when I started watching it. I'm just like, this looks crazy.
- 49:11Speaker 8: It's got Nicolas Cage looking batshit insane. I want to
- 49:14Speaker 8: see this.
- 49:14Speaker 1: But he starts out kind of normal. He starts out
- 49:16Speaker 1: as a normal person, and then he gets to be himself.
- 49:19Speaker 7: So it's his life. It's his life, yeah. He might
- 49:22Speaker 7: have been normal at one point.
- 49:23Speaker 8: Even his normal's kind of whoop whoop.
- 49:25Speaker 1: It's a little off. Even his normal, I'm like, I
- 49:28Speaker 1: don't buy Nicolas Cage as a normal person.
- 49:30Speaker 7: Neither does he. I like that he just laid into
- 49:36Speaker 7: it as time went on. He did certain roles that
- 49:38Speaker 7: were crazy, but then he'd go back and try to
- 49:40Speaker 7: be a straight-laced guy again. And now he's just like, whatever.
- 49:44Speaker 7: What do you got? What do you got that's crazy?
- 49:45Speaker 7: I'll do it.
- 49:46Speaker 1: I'm still trying to get her to sit down and
- 49:47Speaker 1: watch Con Air.
- 49:48Speaker 7: You want me.
- 49:50Speaker 8: To watch Con Air and Valley Girl?
- 49:52Speaker 1: Oh, Valley Girl is awesome.
- 49:53Speaker 7: Valley Girl, maybe. Con Air. There's only so much Michael
- 49:56Speaker 7: Bay I can handle.
- 49:57Speaker 8: I can't deal with that mullet. I'm not a mullet fan.
- 50:00Speaker 1: He's going to save the day.
- 50:04Speaker 8: We are all screwed. Have Nicolas Cage's mullets come in
- 50:08Speaker 8: to save the day?
- 50:09Speaker 7: Come on, it's great.
- 50:10Speaker 1: It's got him and Danny Trejo. Steve Buscemi. Yeah, Steve Buscemi.
- 50:15Speaker 7: Who else? There's a lot of people in that. A
- 50:18Speaker 7: bunch of men. Cusack in there. I've watched it like
- 50:20Speaker 7: once and I was just like, this is a nightmare.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Yeah, how did they get all these people aboard for
- 50:24Speaker 1: this movie?
- 50:25Speaker 3: It was the 90s.
- 50:25Speaker 7: Michael Bay.
- 50:26Speaker 8: They all owed serious debts to the same person.
- 50:30Speaker 1: It was the 90s, right?
- 50:30Speaker 3: That was the 90s.
- 50:32Speaker 7: We already decided we don't know the difference. I'm pretty
- 50:34Speaker 7: sure it was the 90s.
- 50:35Speaker 1: I've got to look it up now.
- 50:36Speaker 7: It was probably the tail end of the 90s.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I forgot the name of the movie now.
- 50:43Speaker 8: Con Air?
- 50:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 50:45Speaker 7: Put the bunny in the bag.
- 50:47Speaker 8: Yeah, I forgot about that.
- 50:49Speaker 7: That's the name of it, right? That's how most people
- 50:51Speaker 7: refer to it. What's that movie with Nicolas Cage?
- 50:53Speaker 1: 1997. Yeah, I knew it was the 90s.
- 50:55Speaker 7: Tail end.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Tail end of the 90s. Because I think I remember
- 50:59Speaker 1: seeing this part of it in the theater. Did I
- 51:04Speaker 1: see it in the theater?
- 51:04Speaker 7: He just got worse and worse.
- 51:07Speaker 8: But he fully embraces the batshit insanity.
- 51:09Speaker 7: Well, I was just Michael Bay. I was like, I
- 51:11Speaker 7: remember watching The Rock and being like, hmm, it's watchable.
- 51:16Speaker 7: It's fun-ish.
- 51:17Speaker 1: I like The Rock.
- 51:18Speaker 7: And then like, then it goes to Con Air. And
- 51:21Speaker 7: then by the time you get like Pearl Harbor, I'm
- 51:23Speaker 7: just like, oh my God, I can't even watch his,
- 51:25Speaker 7: his visual style is nauseating. Like, I can't do it. Like,
- 51:29Speaker 7: this was pre-Transformers world. So I was just like, He
- 51:32Speaker 7: just got worse and worse. The island's interesting.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I've never seen a Transformers movie.
- 51:38Speaker 7: You're not missing anything.
- 51:39Speaker 1: I don't think I am. The Transformers for me was cartoons,
- 51:43Speaker 1: and I just want.
- 51:44Speaker 10: To leave it at that.
- 51:45Speaker 7: The one offshoot now, Bumblebee was fun. It's not Michael Bay.
- 51:50Speaker 7: It's got his money producing it, I'm sure, but it's
- 51:53Speaker 7: directed by somebody else, and suddenly I'm like, oh, this
- 51:56Speaker 7: looks like a real movie. You can tell where people are.
- 51:59Speaker 7: He just can't even set up a shot that makes sense.
- 52:02Speaker 7: He's so busy doing his, here's a cool reflection of
- 52:05Speaker 7: the American flag with my tinted backgrounds. I can't even
- 52:09Speaker 7: look at his stuff anymore. But suddenly Bumblebee, I'm like, oh,
- 52:12Speaker 7: this is a real movie. This is fun. Girl likes
- 52:15Speaker 7: a car. Cool. I can get on board with this.
- 52:18Speaker 7: Hayley wants a bug. I get it.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Any more down the stack?
- 52:22Speaker 8: We should talk about what we watched last night.
- 52:24Speaker 1: What did we watch last night?
- 52:25Speaker 8: One of my new favorite shows.
- 52:27Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Okay, yeah. I forgot about that.
- 52:29Speaker 7: That's right. What is it?
- 52:31Speaker 8: Dimension 404.
- 52:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:32Speaker 7: When did that come out?
- 52:34Speaker 8: I was assuming 2017, because they kept making references in
- 52:37Speaker 8: some of the episodes of 2017.
- 52:38Speaker 1: I'd never even heard of it, and she started watching this.
- 52:40Speaker 7: New show, and I was like, what is this? It
- 52:42Speaker 7: almost sounds familiar, but I cannot even pull what it was.
- 52:45Speaker 1: It's kind of like the Twilight Zone. It's kind of
- 52:46Speaker 1: like the Twilight Zone, kind of like Black Mirror, kind
- 52:48Speaker 1: of like a lot of those.
- 52:51Speaker 8: Hmm.
- 52:51Speaker 7: So is it anthology?
- 52:54Speaker 8: Yes.
- 52:54Speaker 7: Everything's different? Okay.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:56Speaker 7: Okay.
- 52:56Speaker 8: Trying to look up when it came out for sure,
- 52:58Speaker 8: but every episode's different. Most of them seem to be technology-based.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:02Speaker 7: It's pretty Black Mirror-ish.
- 53:03Speaker 1: But I don't think we've seen one that I don't like.
- 53:07Speaker 7: In 2017.
- 53:08Speaker 8: But, yeah, like, the first one had, like, Patton Oswalt
- 53:11Speaker 8: in it. Or was it the first one? No, that
- 53:13Speaker 8: was the second episode. We watched, within, like, two days,
- 53:15Speaker 8: we watched all of them but one episode. Chris, for
- 53:17Speaker 8: some reason, our Hulu was acting wonky, so it skipped
- 53:20Speaker 8: one in the middle. So we're still missing one episode
- 53:23Speaker 8: in the middle that we haven't seen.
- 53:24Speaker 7: Just a mess, man. I know.
- 53:25Speaker 8: When I started playing at the end of the episode,
- 53:28Speaker 8: I'm like, what are you even... Why are you doing
- 53:30Speaker 8: this to me? Dimension 404. It's one of those where
- 53:33Speaker 8: I'm scrolling through lists of like, oh, you like this show?
- 53:36Speaker 8: You might like this show. So I'm like, okay, I
- 53:39Speaker 8: will try it.
- 53:40Speaker 7: So... Was this online lists or like your Hulu decided this?
- 53:45Speaker 8: No, like an online list, probably like some kind of
- 53:47Speaker 8: ranker bullshit.
- 53:48Speaker 7: There are a lot of those lists out there on
- 53:51Speaker 7: the internet.
- 53:51Speaker 8: I'm a sucker for lists and I will... The first
- 53:54Speaker 8: one had Robert Buckley in it.
- 53:55Speaker 7: All right.
- 53:56Speaker 8: Who I adore. And I can't wait for him to
- 54:00Speaker 8: do more things. Major. Major Lily White. All right.
- 54:05Speaker 7: I do know him. I do know him well. I
- 54:08Speaker 7: didn't know him. Again, I don't know him by name, obviously.
- 54:11Speaker 8: Pretty sure it's Robert Buckley. I might have just made
- 54:12Speaker 8: that up. Let me check. Nope, I was correct. It's
- 54:16Speaker 8: got Robert Buckley, Lea Michele, and Joel McHale. All right.
- 54:20Speaker 8: But it's. Because each one's a different thing and it's
- 54:23Speaker 8: like the first one has like a matchmaker app and everything. Interesting.
- 54:27Speaker 8: And I'm not going to give I can't even talk
- 54:29Speaker 8: about it without giving it away because it's like the.
- 54:31Speaker 7: Don't ruin it.
- 54:32Speaker 8: I won't. Then the second one has Patton Oswalt and
- 54:38Speaker 8: Sarah Highland Highland? Is that her name? Highland.
- 54:41Speaker 7: Like Modern Family Girl? Yes.
- 54:43Speaker 8: She's so adorable. I'm like Are you supposed to be
- 54:45Speaker 8: playing a high school kid? Because you're, like, almost 30 now. Well, actually,
- 54:48Speaker 8: it was, like, three years ago.
- 54:49Speaker 7: She's been that way for a long time, though.
- 54:53Speaker 8: She looks like a Disney princess with her big old.
- 54:54Speaker 7: Yeah, she's always looked like she's 12. But I think
- 54:57Speaker 7: even when they started the show, she was way older
- 54:59Speaker 7: than she was supposed to be.
- 55:00Speaker 8: But it involves, like, some new theater. Like, the next
- 55:05Speaker 8: evolution from 3D. It's the Cynothrax. and you have one
- 55:11Speaker 8: of your silly glasses and it's a big ordeal and
- 55:15Speaker 8: oh it's so good and I can't give it away
- 55:18Speaker 8: the third one is probably my favorite episode because it
- 55:21Speaker 8: involves a girl who was in love with cartoons a
- 55:24Speaker 8: specific cartoon show when she was a small child in
- 55:26Speaker 8: the 80s probably 90s now it was like Time Rider
- 55:30Speaker 8: which is their equivalent of what I'm assuming is like Planet.
- 55:36Speaker 7: Captain Planet I don't know But in.
- 55:39Speaker 8: The cartoon that she remembers, it's a guy who has
- 55:42Speaker 8: to travel through time to keep the timeline straight. But
- 55:45Speaker 8: then something happens in the real world and the timeline's
- 55:47Speaker 8: in danger. So....
- 55:50Speaker 7: Is this like reminding you of your weird feelings for
- 55:52Speaker 7: that guy with a mustache on She-Ra? What is that
- 55:55Speaker 7: dude's name?
- 55:56Speaker 6: Bo?
- 55:56Speaker 7: Yeah, see? I never watched... It was on... Like, again,
- 56:00Speaker 7: I was on board for He-Man and She-Ra. I was
- 56:02Speaker 7: hit and miss. It was just like some episodes I
- 56:04Speaker 7: was paying attention to. Some I was, like, supposed to
- 56:06Speaker 7: be doing my homework the whole time, but, like, sometimes
- 56:08Speaker 7: I'm like, oh, I guess I have to do, like,
- 56:10Speaker 7: math or something, which obviously I didn't learn.
- 56:12Speaker 8: The Horde and Hordak were awesome.
- 56:14Speaker 7: Yeah, I think that would bring me back. The villains
- 56:16Speaker 7: were always kind of cool, but whatever they're yammering and
- 56:19Speaker 7: the floating whatever it is, they're Orko, which Orko was
- 56:23Speaker 7: annoying enough to begin with.
- 56:24Speaker 8: They didn't have a floating thing. They had, like, a
- 56:25Speaker 8: weird koala bear looking thing.
- 56:27Speaker 7: Yeah, but didn't it have giant ears?
- 56:28Speaker 8: I don't remember.
- 56:29Speaker 7: It would fly with its giant ears or some bullshit.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 56:32Speaker 7: Anyway, I was just trying to figure out what person
- 56:35Speaker 7: you were in love with as a child.
- 56:36Speaker 8: Well, she wasn't in love with him. She just looked
- 56:37Speaker 8: up to him. That show had inspired her to want
- 56:40Speaker 8: to be a scientist. And then something happens with the timeline.
- 56:44Speaker 8: People start forgetting that the show existed. So there's something wrong.
- 56:47Speaker 7: Berenstain Bears action. Exactly.
- 56:50Speaker 8: So she has to try to.
- 56:51Speaker 7: I said stain because that's the way it was.
- 56:53Speaker 8: But they have to go through time and try to
- 56:55Speaker 8: figure out what's wrong with the timeline and what happened.
- 56:59Speaker 7: And then Doc Brown shows up and things get crazy.
- 57:02Speaker 8: Oh, it's hilarious. It's one of the best written shows
- 57:06Speaker 8: from three years ago that I've never heard of.
- 57:09Speaker 7: What, are our kids become assholes or something?
- 57:12Speaker 8: It is awesome. The next episode is Polybius. It's about
- 57:17Speaker 8: a video game that's got a demon in it. Like
- 57:20Speaker 8: most of them do, I'm sure. That one, yeah, I
- 57:22Speaker 8: was calling back reference earlier. This one's based in the 80s.
- 57:26Speaker 8: I think 84 or 86. And there's a lot of
- 57:30Speaker 8: homophobia based in that that would have been.
- 57:34Speaker 7: Appropriate. At that time. Which is not appropriate, but accurate
- 57:38Speaker 7: for the time.
- 57:38Speaker 8: Yeah, so it's like they do say the F word.
- 57:43Speaker 7: Not the one that I.
- 57:43Speaker 8: Because I'll say fuck all damn day.
- 57:45Speaker 7: It's funny that those switched. You used to be able
- 57:48Speaker 7: to use the other one and the queen mother of
- 57:51Speaker 7: dirty words was fuck. Now it's flip-flopped, and, like, people
- 57:55Speaker 7: are pretty forgiving with fuck these days, but you do
- 57:58Speaker 7: not fly with the other F word.
- 58:00Speaker 6: No.
- 58:01Speaker 7: People do not let that one go rightfully so. But,
- 58:05Speaker 7: I mean, we can't pretend, like, that isn't the way
- 58:10Speaker 7: it was. Like, if you're doing it with the right intentions,
- 58:14Speaker 7: and you're just being accurate to the time, like, it
- 58:17Speaker 7: will seem weird if, I don't know. I'm like, it's,
- 58:20Speaker 7: it's the way you approach it. I think that is
- 58:22Speaker 7: how it, you know, it can be done badly, but.
- 58:26Speaker 8: But like I said, it's, that's how things, as much as,
- 58:30Speaker 8: it's how things were then. And it sucks. You know,
- 58:33Speaker 8: we have come a long way, but it doesn't.
- 58:36Speaker 7: Some moments, some moments it seems like we've accomplished nothing. Yeah,
- 58:39Speaker 7: I know.
- 58:40Speaker 8: But the show is awesome. I love it. I mean,
- 58:43Speaker 8: there's a couple more episodes, uh, it's only a six
- 58:47Speaker 8: episode show so i mean it's not a big investment
- 58:51Speaker 8: of your time so i mean i would i don't
- 58:53Speaker 8: it's i was on 2017 i haven't seen any more
- 58:57Speaker 8: episodes listed since then so i don't that might have
- 58:59Speaker 8: been it so i don't think you know there's going
- 59:03Speaker 8: to be any more seasons so i mean they're not
- 59:07Speaker 8: long episodes 40 minutes and you're good you know so
- 59:10Speaker 8: I would highly recommend it's on, it's on the Hulu. Oh,
- 59:14Speaker 8: the Hulu's on the Hulu's.
- 59:17Speaker 7: I don't care. Whatever.
- 59:19Speaker 8: But, uh, yeah, I don't think we've, I mean, I've just, I've,
- 59:22Speaker 8: I just zone out after work and just sit and
- 59:24Speaker 8: watch dead people shows all day.
- 59:26Speaker 7: I don't even attempt stuff there. Well, no, Now I've
- 59:29Speaker 7: gotten to where I'm trying to watch it like a
- 59:31Speaker 7: show when I get home, which usually just means I'll
- 59:33Speaker 7: fall asleep.
- 59:36Speaker 8: My new goal is I want to sit down and
- 59:38Speaker 8: watch all the episodes of Tales from the Crypt.
- 59:43Speaker 7: All right. I haven't watched a lot of seasons.
- 59:45Speaker 8: I know, and it's not on any streaming platform.
- 59:48Speaker 7: And I feel like, as I remember, now, granted, I
- 59:51Speaker 7: have not watched them since the initial, I loved it
- 59:54Speaker 7: when it started. But even, I was there, like, I
- 59:57Speaker 7: was recording them, I think, on my VHS tapes. Like,
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: I loved when that series started. That whole first run
- 1:00:03Speaker 7: of them is, like, classic. The next several seasons are great.
- 1:00:08Speaker 7: And then, like, I still was trying, like, kind of
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: watching them semi-regularly as the new seasons came out, like,
- 1:00:14Speaker 7: in that second half, like, several years in. And I
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: feel like they started getting not as impressive. Just to
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: prepare yourself.
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: I think I've got several of the seasons on DVD,
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: but they're behind the wall of Baby Yoda and Sam.
- 1:00:30Speaker 8: So be careful.
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: You might be crushed.
- 1:00:33Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: Avalanche of the Childs.
- 1:00:35Speaker 8: Other than that, I don't think I've watched anything else.
- 1:00:39Speaker 8: hmm or if i have i don't remember i have
- 1:00:42Speaker 8: goals for this uh this mark uh this fall but
- 1:00:47Speaker 8: i don't know if we'll actually get accomplished i thought
- 1:00:49Speaker 8: this'd be too lazy because aside from watching tales from
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: the crypt i want to watch and boyfriend decided we
- 1:00:53Speaker 8: want to sit down and conquer like some of the
- 1:00:55Speaker 8: 90s horror like 13 ghosts and maybe the remake of
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: haunted hill it's one of.
- 1:01:02Speaker 7: Those yeah it's like i As we were discussing earlier,
- 1:01:06Speaker 7: they kind of fall into that blur. Even though some
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: of them were kind of tail end of the 90s. But, like,
- 1:01:12Speaker 7: I remember all of those. I saw them at the time, but, like,
- 1:01:15Speaker 7: have not watched them since. So, like, I kind of
- 1:01:18Speaker 7: remember them being okay. But now sometimes people will, like,
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: reference them online and will be like, you know, actually
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: this one was pretty good. Like, they'll, like, talking about, like,
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: revisiting them now.
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: I don't think anybody says anything about Urban Legend. i
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: liked it at the time i remember liking it too
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: but that's been like a long time i.
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: Saw again this just the other day somebody specifically pointed
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: out urban legend colon the final cut which was the
- 1:01:45Speaker 7: sequel maybe the only sequel if.
- 1:01:47Speaker 8: I remember Now they did a Bloody Mary one too
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: didn't they?
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: I didn't see any after that first one but they
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: said like the final cut one is like way better
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: and got no like notice or recognition at the time
- 1:01:59Speaker 7: but they were like you know this is actually a
- 1:02:01Speaker 7: pretty good movie so I'm like oh guess I need
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: to add that to the list now. Gotta go back
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: and watch some Urban Legends.
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: Like I said I remember liking the first one because
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: I mean it had Alicia Witt and she was so cute.
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: Doesn't it have what's her face? Gayheart?
- 1:02:16Speaker 7: Well yeah. I remember her based on their... Weird belly?
- 1:02:20Speaker 7: Weird boob?
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: It had weird boob in it.
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: Frankenboob.
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: It had Frankenboob.
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: That's who I was thinking of. Tara Reid, right? Yeah.
- 1:02:28Speaker 7: I was like, I remember Tara Reid in it. I
- 1:02:30Speaker 7: forgot about Gayheart, but now that I remember the box,
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: the important... The way that they frame that box involves
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: gay heart very heavily.
- 1:02:39Speaker 8: Just the boobs.
- 1:02:41Speaker 7: But everybody else is a headshot. Look at it. It's
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: like headshot, headshot, just floating heads. And then you get
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: the gay heart. And for some reason, she also gets
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: other parts of her anatomy on the cover of the box.
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: Yeah, the final cuts came out in 2000.
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: Let's see. Cruising into the 2000s. Urban Legend came out
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: in 98.
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: The final cut came out in 2000. And Bloody Mary
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: came out in 2005. Oh. I don't even know if
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: there's anybody in this one, but the original Urban Legend
- 1:03:07Speaker 8: had my crush from, I would say, was it 99?
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: 2000?
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: I thought it was a little earlier, but.
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: What?
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: Michael Rosenbaum.
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: Right around then.
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: Lex Luthor.
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: Whenever Smallville started.
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: Yeah, he was gorgeous. Actually, Kate Mara is in Bloody Mary.
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: That is the only name I recognize so far. Don Shanks.
- 1:03:34Speaker 8: I don't know who Don Shanks is.
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: I've seen some stuff somewhat recently, in recent years anyway,
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: with Michael Rosenbaum. He seems like a pretty cool dude,
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: I have to say. Like, what little I've seen of
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: him recently, he seems like he's got a good attitude
- 1:03:48Speaker 7: about things. I like that.
- 1:03:50Speaker 8: Bloody Mary also has apparently a small cameo from Rooney
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: Mara as Classroom Girl Number One.
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: Back when nobody knew who she was.
- 1:03:57Speaker 8: Well, apparently Kate Mara is the star, so she had
- 1:04:00Speaker 8: to bring her little sister. Is she her little sister
- 1:04:02Speaker 8: or her bigger sister?
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: I don't know if I remember her sister. Huh? What
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: is the other Mara in?
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: She was in the remake of, wasn't she in the
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: girl with the dragon tattoo? Or am I completely making
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: that up?
- 1:04:18Speaker 7: I thought that was Rooney.
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: Rooney, yeah, Rooney.
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: I was talking about your sister.
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: I was so confused.
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: I know who Rooney Marr is, but I'm trying to
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: think of what I would know the sister from.
- 1:04:32Speaker 8: Kate Marr, she's been in a lot of stuff. Give
- 1:04:36Speaker 8: me a second. She was in Shooter, Fantastic Four. She
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: was in 2015.
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: Sorry to say, that most recent one that nobody watched,
- 1:04:44Speaker 7: including me, because I still haven't gotten to it. The Martian?
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:04:50Speaker 7: I watched The Martian recently.
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: Apparently she was in that.
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: Is she the nerdy girl down on the ground that's
- 1:04:55Speaker 7: keeping up with him? I don't know. I think she
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: has glasses because she's into science and stuff. She's the
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: one that's like, hey, I think that dude's still alive
- 1:05:05Speaker 7: up there.
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: She was in House of Cards. Beth Johansson was who
- 1:05:12Speaker 8: she was in The Martian. She was Sue Storm in
- 1:05:16Speaker 8: Fantastic Four. Hmm. It's way more in-depth than anybody ever
- 1:05:19Speaker 8: needed about any of these.
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: I guess if that were any other superhero movie, it
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: would be a big deal if you got the B-series storm.
- 1:05:27Speaker 7: But that was the one everybody went, you know what?
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: I think no.
- 1:05:32Speaker 8: She was in some incarnation of American Horror Story, but
- 1:05:34Speaker 8: I don't know which one because it doesn't really tell me.
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: Nobody knows anymore.
- 1:05:37Speaker 8: Anything else?
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: Anything else?
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: Nope.
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: So here we are. We've come full circle. We finally
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: got back to sitting in a room discussing movies. You
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: see where that leads us? Rambles. To the ramblings. Alright, so,
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: with that, we may just plan another future episode where
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: we watch a movie.
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: Crazy talk.
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: And discuss it. But until then, otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: We will return next time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Goodbye.
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: Bye from Jay. Because he's outside. He wanders off. Easily distracted.
- 1:06:15Speaker 7: Easily distracted.
- 1:06:29Speaker 11: Was too busy wondering where you're gonna take me next
- 1:06:33Speaker 11: must have checked out for a second it's becoming a
- 1:06:37Speaker 11: thing it happens a lot i got my head up
- 1:06:40Speaker 11: in the clouds ain't trying to complain i don't want
- 1:06:43Speaker 11: it to stop but baby whenever you're around you got
- 1:06:47Speaker 11: me distracted.
- 1:06:49Speaker 9: It's the only way for me to explain the way
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: that I'm acting. I got a one-track mind when you're
- 1:06:55Speaker 9: looking at me.
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: I can't focus.
- 1:06:57Speaker 9: I can't think. I got a little sick ADD. No,
- 1:07:01Speaker 9: I can't look away.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: That face got me all captive.
- 1:07:06Speaker 11: It got me distracted.
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: You got me calling canceling plans.
- 1:07:14Speaker 11: All week i'm dreaming about the weekend priorities.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: They don't stand a chance against those hands it's becoming
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: a thing yeah it happens a lot i got my
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: head up in the clouds ain't trying to complain and
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: i want it to stop it's all of the time
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: even right now you got me distracted.
- 1:07:33Speaker 9: It's the only way for me to explain the way
- 1:07:36Speaker 9: that I'm acting. I've got a one-track mind.
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: When you're looking at me.
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: I can't focus, I can't think. I've got a little
- 1:07:47Speaker 9: sick ADD.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: No, I can't look away.
- 1:07:49Speaker 9: That face got me all captive. I got me distracted. Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:56Speaker 9: I got me distracted.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: Gonna have to get you to repeat what you just said.
- 1:08:06Speaker 11: Cause I wasn't listening.
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: You got me distracted.
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: The only way for me to explain the way that I'm.
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: Acting I got a one-track mind when you're looking at
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: me I can't focus, I can't think, I got lost
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: in K.D.D. No, I can't.
- 1:08:26Speaker 11: Walk away, that face got.
- 1:08:27Speaker 9: Me hell-capped, yeah You got me distracted.
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: Oh-oh-oh-oh You got me distracted.
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: Yeah-yeah.
- 1:08:40Speaker 9: You got me distracted, distracted.
- 1:08:44Speaker 11: You got me distracted, distracted.
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: I hate the sound of flip-flops.
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: They're weird. They just are.
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: What?
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: Laughing at your flip-flops.
- 1:08:59Speaker 7: I can't do them. I hate flip-flops. Since childhood, I
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: remember I think I had a pair of sandal-ish things
- 1:09:07Speaker 7: as a kid. Even then, I didn't like them. And
- 1:09:10Speaker 7: immediately right after that, once I got to the point
- 1:09:12Speaker 7: of picking my own, I was like, nope. I had
- 1:09:15Speaker 7: those beach shoes. That was the closest thing I had.
- 1:09:19Speaker 7: They were like ones you could wear on the water,
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: and I lived here, so I didn't go on the water.
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: I just wore them because they were kind of, like
- 1:09:26Speaker 7: they had holes in them, so like they were kind
- 1:09:29Speaker 7: of cooler, like you could wear it in the summer
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: like they were sandals, but they fit on your foot
- 1:09:33Speaker 7: like a normal shoe.
- 1:09:36Speaker 8: No jellies.
- 1:09:39Speaker 7: No jellies for me, but yep. Beach shoes, because I
- 1:09:42Speaker 7: wanted to live in California, but I lived here.
