- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello everyone, and welcome into another edition of the check
- 0:13Speaker 1: O Daily. It's Andrew Decheko here, Eagles beat reporter for
- 0:16Speaker 1: insidethbirds dot Com. The Eagles have two practices under their
- 0:20Speaker 1: belt this week. I talked to you about Wednesday's practice
- 0:24Speaker 1: and what sort of transpired in terms of injuries, but
- 0:27Speaker 1: they got some favorable news coming off of Thursday's practice
- 0:32Speaker 1: not practicing guard Landon Dickerson rest, offensive lineman Brett Toath, concussion, limited,
- 0:39Speaker 1: tight end Grant ka Katara ankle, defensive tackle, Jalen Carter hip,
- 0:43Speaker 1: tight end, Dallas godd Art knee, tackle, Lane Johnson foot full,
- 0:48Speaker 1: linebacker Nikobe Dean hamstring, safety Marcus EPs concussion, outside linebacker
- 0:54Speaker 1: Azizo Jeli hamstring, and outside linebacker Jalen Phillips ankle. Landon
- 1:00Speaker 1: Dickerson has been getting Thursdays off as of late in
- 1:05Speaker 1: terms of just for maintenance purposes. So it's not I
- 1:09Speaker 1: wasn't out of the ordinary that we didn't see him
- 1:11Speaker 1: out there, and sure enough it comes up his rest.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Brett Toath I saw working on a far field with
- 1:17Speaker 2: the trainer.
- 1:18Speaker 1: He didn't have a helmet at the start of practice, obviously,
- 1:21Speaker 1: and that was the biggest indicator that he's still working
- 1:23Speaker 1: his way through the protocol. Grant Calcataras back out on
- 1:27Speaker 1: the practice field after missing Wednesday's practice, so encouraging news
- 1:31Speaker 1: there After suffering a nasty looking injury Sunday against the
- 1:36Speaker 1: Commanders and what was clearly a hip drop tackle that
- 1:39Speaker 1: wasn't called, then you got to keep an eye on
- 1:43Speaker 1: Jayalen Carter with the hip, Dallas got it with a knee,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and Lane Johnson with the foot, as all three were
- 1:49Speaker 1: limited on Thursday, which is the eagles biggest practice of
- 1:52Speaker 1: the week, their most physical and grueling. Friday will be
- 1:56Speaker 1: a big indicator as to what we can expect going
- 1:59Speaker 1: into Sunday, and of course later on Friday we'll have
- 2:03Speaker 1: the official game statuses, which which will reveal and add
- 2:07Speaker 1: a little bit more clarity to the injury scenario for
- 2:11Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 2:13Speaker 2: But Thursday's practice, the.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Eagles are warming up on a far field, and after
- 2:22Speaker 1: the far field, like after they go through warm ups
- 2:24Speaker 1: and everything like that, practice commences and everybody sort of
- 2:29Speaker 1: breaks up into their groups. Special teams is going on
- 2:32Speaker 1: in a far field and on the field nearest to
- 2:35Speaker 1: where the gates swing open. That's where the field is
- 2:38Speaker 1: divided by defensive backs Quinya Mitchell and Adoorri Jackson working
- 2:43Speaker 1: with Christian Parker. Aj Brown even made a brief cameo
- 2:47Speaker 1: they're working with them as well, before breaking off with
- 2:49Speaker 1: his fellow wide receivers. And on the other side of
- 2:52Speaker 1: the field you have the Eagles punt returners namely Britton Covey,
- 2:56Speaker 1: Jahan Dotson, and Quez Watkins fielding punts. Aaron moorehead the
- 3:00Speaker 1: Eagles wide receivers coach. There were times where he was
- 3:02Speaker 1: spraying water in the air and as the Eagles punt
- 3:06Speaker 1: returners were trying to catch the football to focus on
- 3:09Speaker 1: catching the football in the different conditions.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And then later on they were doing.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Some juggling, so they would be holding a football already
- 3:16Speaker 1: when the ball was punted to them. They would throw
- 3:18Speaker 1: that ball in the air, catch the punt, and then
- 3:21Speaker 1: try to catch the one that they had just thrown
- 3:23Speaker 1: in the air like a juggling act almost. But the
- 3:27Speaker 1: main event was on the middle practice field because that's
- 3:31Speaker 1: where the offensive linemen were to practice as they do
- 3:34Speaker 1: every Thursday. The first player on the field that made
- 3:38Speaker 1: it over there was Lane Johnson. They had the ladder
- 3:42Speaker 1: that was kind of sprawled out on the floor there
- 3:44Speaker 1: on the field, I should say, and Lane Johnson was.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Going.
- 3:50Speaker 1: He went through it twice, hopping on one leg and
- 3:53Speaker 1: alternating throughout his trips to and from the through the ladder,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and obviously that's to put pressure on, you know, different
- 4:03Speaker 1: legs and do some different things there. He went through
- 4:07Speaker 1: warm ups and individuals, and during individuals you got a
- 4:11Speaker 1: chance to see him do some some one on one
- 4:15Speaker 1: stuff driving lineman off the ball who were holding the pad.
- 4:18Speaker 1: There's a video on my ex account where he's sort
- 4:22Speaker 1: of driving Cam Williams off the ball.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You can kind of hear.
- 4:26Speaker 1: You can, I guess you can kind of see rather
- 4:29Speaker 1: the Lane Johnson in action and doing some good.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Things there moving well.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You can never know with the foot injury that he sustained,
- 4:38Speaker 1: how that's going to feel the next day he was
- 4:40Speaker 1: out there. He was limited the first two days of
- 4:43Speaker 1: the week. Obviously, eyes will be peeled and we'll be
- 4:46Speaker 1: looking at that official injury report Friday. Remember we get
- 4:50Speaker 1: to see the first five or so minutes on Friday,
- 4:52Speaker 1: So attendance becomes paramount.
- 4:55Speaker 2: That's what we do when we're there.
- 4:56Speaker 1: When you have a few minutes and you take stock
- 4:59Speaker 1: about who's there, who's not there, and what that can
- 5:02Speaker 1: ultimately mean for the Eagles moving forward. The forty nine ers,
- 5:07Speaker 1: Trent Williams was limited with the hamstring on Thursday, Ricky
- 5:12Speaker 1: Piersall didn't go, linebacker de Winters didn't go.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Who They're a really banged up unit right now, and they're.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Looking at Eric Kendricks and Garrett Walla, who they claimed
- 5:22Speaker 1: off waivers from the Denver Broncos at linebacker this week.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So perhaps the Eagles are.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Able to take advantage of a makeshift linebacker situation. They're
- 5:33Speaker 1: their defense, as I mentioned on this podcast, hasn't well.
- 5:37Speaker 1: They're far from imposing, and I believe that there should
- 5:40Speaker 1: be opportunities for.
- 5:41Speaker 2: The Eagles to exploit them.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I also find this matchup fascinating in the sense of
- 5:47Speaker 1: you have Kyle Shanahan, an offensive mastermind who many across
- 5:50Speaker 1: the league have been influenced by, versus Vic Vangio, the
- 5:55Speaker 1: veteran defensive coordinator for the Eagles, and you look across
- 5:58Speaker 1: the modern NFL and you can see imitations across the
- 6:03Speaker 1: league about different systems that are implementing trying to implement
- 6:08Speaker 1: some of the different philosophies that Vic Fangio has shown
- 6:14Speaker 1: and if his handprints are on all those defenses. So
- 6:18Speaker 1: you get two coaches who are immensely instrumental, I should say,
- 6:24Speaker 1: in terms of their influence around the NFL. Going head
- 6:27Speaker 1: to head. They have a lot of respect for one another.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan has tried to hire Vic Fangio in the past,
- 6:33Speaker 1: didn't work out, but both coaches throughout the week have
- 6:38Speaker 1: illustrated a lot of respect for one another. That's going
- 6:41Speaker 1: to be the game within the game. And look, the
- 6:45Speaker 1: forty nine Ers are going across the country and they're
- 6:49Speaker 1: going to be really banged up. Now the Eagles have
- 6:51Speaker 1: to be able to take advantage of it, granted, and
- 6:53Speaker 1: it starts with Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle in terms
- 6:56Speaker 1: of bottling them up from a defensive standpoint, But the
- 7:00Speaker 1: forty nine Ers are sort of the walking wounded right now,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and Trent Williams, needless to say, is super critical to
- 7:07Speaker 1: what they want to do. They're a different team when
- 7:09Speaker 1: he's in the game, much like the Eagles are a
- 7:11Speaker 1: different team when Lane.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Johnson's in the game.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You look at what Lane Johnson means to the photo
- 7:15Speaker 1: of Eagles while we're on the subject, and he just
- 7:18Speaker 1: gives one confidence and stability at right tackle. He's the
- 7:22Speaker 1: best in the business of what he does. But it
- 7:23Speaker 1: also allows the Eagles to do some different things offensively
- 7:27Speaker 1: that they probably wouldn't be able to do otherwise.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying
- 7:32Speaker 3: to clean up their habits and that includes me. Honestly,
- 7:35Speaker 3: having one less drink never felt easier. Instead of pouring
- 7:39Speaker 3: a cocktail, I just reach for souls out of office drinks.
- 7:43Speaker 3: It's the same relaxing vibe, but zero alcohol, zero hangover.

- 7:50Speaker 3: can get to the gym, I can do whatever I
- 7:52Speaker 3: have to do throughout the day without feeling worn down

- 10:53Speaker 6: one and up.
- 10:55Speaker 1: In the locker room, say Kwon Barkley spoke, I got
- 10:58Speaker 1: a couple questions into him after the fact for a
- 11:02Speaker 1: story that I'm working on on. Tank Bigsby spoke to
- 11:05Speaker 1: Tank Bigsby a little bit more for the second day
- 11:08Speaker 1: in a row, just to tie up some loose ends
- 11:10Speaker 1: and get some more questions in just about just his
- 11:16Speaker 1: upbringing coming up through the Grange Georgia and I will
- 11:20Speaker 1: be putting that story together. Should be up Sunday Saturday morning,
- 11:24Speaker 1: and trying to think. Brandon Graham spoke, yeah, spoke a
- 11:34Speaker 1: little bit to a Dori Jackson.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It was a very lively locker room.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I should say it was the loudest and in a
- 11:40Speaker 1: positive way that it's been in quite some time. Players
- 11:44Speaker 1: were holding court, talking to each other. It was a
- 11:47Speaker 1: very loose locker room, one that was very upbeat and jovial,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I would say, and you know, you walk in and
- 11:55Speaker 1: you see DeVante Smith walking over there talking to the
- 11:58Speaker 1: running backs and aj Rounds in the middle of all
- 12:01Speaker 1: of this, it just seemed like a locker room that
- 12:04Speaker 1: was really sort of not phased by the moment, And
- 12:07Speaker 1: one would expect that they are embracing this opportunity.
- 12:10Speaker 2: They're loose, and they.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Were bonding and fraternizing with each other, and I think
- 12:15Speaker 1: that that's a sign of a team that's really really
- 12:19Speaker 1: loose and confident going into this week against the forty
- 12:22Speaker 1: nine ers. Look, the Eagles have been there before many times.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Look across their roster, adri Jackson is the only player
- 12:30Speaker 1: who hasn't started on Tyler Steen who hasn't started in
- 12:33Speaker 1: a Super Bowl in the past Super Bowl, And so
- 12:37Speaker 1: they're having a lot of experience. Even Marcus Epps started
- 12:40Speaker 1: when the Eagles were in the Super Bowl against the
- 12:42Speaker 1: Chiefs back in twenty twenty two. And so this is
- 12:46Speaker 1: a team that you probably feel really confident in moving
- 12:50Speaker 1: forward as the postseason, as we get closer to the
- 12:52Speaker 1: opening round because of their experience that they have to
- 12:55Speaker 1: draw from, which not every team can say. So that's
- 12:57Speaker 1: something that shouldn't be taken for granted, needy more to
- 13:00Speaker 1: come after Friday's practice, but for now, that's going to
- 13:03Speaker 1: do it for this edition of The Checko Daily. I'm
- 13:05Speaker 1: Andrew to Checko and I'll catch you on the next one.
