- 0:00Speaker 1: And as a matter of fact, we have an email
- 0:01Speaker 1: of infant yes email of in Truss. Go ahead and
- 0:08Speaker 1: put up that picture, Katie, if you would. Yesterday we
- 0:13Speaker 1: talked about Aunt Jeff's, the old mule up in Idaho.
- 0:19Speaker 1: This will all stem from a X pole. We did,
- 0:23Speaker 1: how do you pamper your pets? I think it was
- 0:26Speaker 1: the very last call we had on that ex pole
- 0:29Speaker 1: was from a woman in Idaho, Kimberly, and she said, well,
- 0:34Speaker 1: we have this old mule. Her name is Aunt Jeff's
- 0:37Speaker 1: or his name, I don't know, it's Aunt Jeff's, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: that the mule is pampered gets just the best of
- 0:44Speaker 1: the oats. And Gina remembered a half a loaf of
- 0:48Speaker 1: white bread every single.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Day is a pampered mule.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So Kimberly has sent us an email all the way
- 0:55Speaker 1: from Idaho. Hello, Lords, I was considering calling in to
- 0:59Speaker 1: answer your questions about Aunt Jeff, but I get really nervous,
- 1:03Speaker 1: so writing this email is better for me. My name
- 1:06Speaker 1: is Kimberly. I'm originally from Ogden. I've been a listener
- 1:09Speaker 1: since nineteen ninety six and I actually remember Carry and
- 1:13Speaker 1: Bill coming to a dairy by my house when I
- 1:16Speaker 1: was eleven. Okay. We moved to Preston, Idaho in twenty
- 1:23Speaker 1: twenty one. Shortly after we moved, we were given a
- 1:26Speaker 1: horse for my daughters. She was old and needed a friend.
- 1:31Speaker 1: The horse was not her daughter. A guy I worked
- 1:34Speaker 1: with was looking to retire his twenty one year old
- 1:36Speaker 1: mule named Daisy. Mules can live to be really old
- 1:41Speaker 1: and wondered if I'd want her for a pasture pal
- 1:44Speaker 1: or the horse. We talked with my girls and they
- 1:46Speaker 1: thought that would be great. Well before we took the mule,
- 1:49Speaker 1: we went to Rudoso, New Mexico to meet my mom's cousins.
- 1:53Speaker 1: My grandmother is from that area. So while we were there,
- 1:56Speaker 1: one of the eighty year old cousins gave us a
- 1:59Speaker 1: family history packet and in the packet were pictures as
- 2:03Speaker 1: far back as the thirties, and one of the pictures
- 2:06Speaker 1: listed a name I'd never heard before, and Jeff. We
- 2:10Speaker 1: thought that that might be a nickname or short for something,
- 2:13Speaker 1: but nope, her name was just Jeff. Her parents liked
- 2:17Speaker 1: it and that's what they named her. Okay, Jeff. So
- 2:22Speaker 1: there there was a girl named Jeff and in their
- 2:24Speaker 1: family history. That day my daughter decided that this would
- 2:29Speaker 1: be the name of her mule, because everybody up here
- 2:32Speaker 1: has something named Daisy. So once we got Jeff settled,
- 2:38Speaker 1: we got the vet out and he laughed when we
- 2:40Speaker 1: told him that she was twenty or so. He said, no, no,
- 2:43Speaker 1: this mule is more like thirty. The only teeth she
- 2:47Speaker 1: has left are in the front. She eats watermelon very
- 2:51Speaker 1: carefully because she doesn't like the rind. She slurps her oatmeal,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and she loves affection. Look at that thing. Look at
- 3:01Speaker 1: that animal, just living for the affection of Yeah, we
- 3:05Speaker 1: didn't get her for any other reason than to be
- 3:08Speaker 1: a friend for old Titus the horse. She talks to
- 3:12Speaker 1: people as they walk by, yells really loud when somebody
- 3:16Speaker 1: pulls into the driveway, runs as fast as her little
- 3:19Speaker 1: hooves will carry her when it's time to eat. Where
- 3:23Speaker 1: we live, animals are treated as tools. We've been told
- 3:27Speaker 1: you should just put her down, but the vet says
- 3:30Speaker 1: she's still eating, so she's fine. She's treated very well here.
- 3:35Speaker 1: She's learned to open the gate. We've had a couple
- 3:38Speaker 1: of calls from neighbors saying, Hey, Jeff is out in
- 3:40Speaker 1: the road, or Hi, Jeff is in the Alfalfa Field again.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I don't know how much longer we'll have Jeff in
- 3:50Speaker 1: our barn, but we will cherish her until it's over.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We love Jeff so much. Thanks for letting me listen,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and thanks for making aunt Jeff famous for a minute
- 4:02Speaker 1: from Kimberly and Idaho.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I am a fan of a Jeff that is a that.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Is a really touching email. Yeah, I'd like to. I
- 4:11Speaker 1: think we should go up and meet Jeff. It's it's unreal.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It's not realistic to think that Jeff could come down here, now,
- 4:18Speaker 1: is it a gee offer? J j E f F
- 4:23Speaker 1: j e f F And I see what town and
- 4:26Speaker 1: I know, is this impressed? How far I'm tempted to
- 4:34Speaker 1: go up and meet Jeff in person? And I mean
- 4:39Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm gonna see if I can arrange that.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'll go up and do some some on the spot reporting.
- 4:45Speaker 2: And you know, Craig Worth would be all over that,
- 4:48Speaker 2: it would you know, it's the kind of story he
- 4:51Speaker 2: would just I got to.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Get a hold of Craig. I talked or emailed with
- 4:55Speaker 1: Craig a little while ago.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I know he's retired, but that is the kind of
- 5:00Speaker 2: thing that he would do exactly.
- 5:02Speaker 1: He's not retired. I don't think he's retired from doing
- 5:04Speaker 1: his He's not retired from doing his. That's there's a
- 5:08Speaker 1: good idea. I'm gonna get a hold of Craig. He'll
- 5:12Speaker 1: go to Preston and a heartbeat. Yeah, Craig's still doing
- 5:18Speaker 1: his his Channel four stuff. He retired from being a
- 5:22Speaker 1: professor at the university. It's it's interesting to think of
- 5:32Speaker 1: a of a mule that has a personality, isn't it.
- 5:37Speaker 1: You know that that that that responds almost like a
- 5:40Speaker 1: dog in certain respects.
- 5:42Speaker 3: You know, it's they may they may have more personality
- 5:45Speaker 3: than horses.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Well, mules are interesting.
- 5:48Speaker 2: They are tougher than horses. They're they're heartier, they can
- 5:54Speaker 2: be kind of obstrepperas Yeah, well that's why the stubborn mules,
- 5:59Speaker 2: that's why. That's why that's a.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Thing, all right. Email of interest, Uh, Jimmy John says,
- 6:11Speaker 3: load up Dawson and Jimmy and do a let's go
- 6:13Speaker 3: eat and drink show from Aunt Jeff.
