- 0:16Speaker 2: Two degrees has booked a net loss of eighteen point
- 0:18Speaker 2: two million bucks for the twenty five financial years, significantly
- 0:22Speaker 2: worse than last year's three point one mostly down to
- 0:25Speaker 2: one off costs though and operating earnings, mobile broadband and
- 0:30Speaker 2: energy revenues all up. Mark Calendar, two degrees Tief executive
- 0:33Speaker 2: with me tonight.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Hey Mark, Hi, Ron, Thanks having me.
- 0:37Speaker 2: So I made a net loss, yes, but fair to
- 0:39Speaker 2: say you're not too worried about that.
- 0:42Speaker 3: No, not at all. The businesses operating two plan if
- 0:45Speaker 3: not ahead of it.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Again, a lot of the losses that reported were non
- 0:49Speaker 4: cash related, so it's about forty five million and non
- 0:51Speaker 4: cash related if you actually look at the net cash
- 0:54Speaker 4: from operating.
- 0:54Speaker 3: And our trading. But we've got very significant games year.
- 0:57Speaker 2: On you, mobile broadband, energy revenues all up. You've managed
- 1:02Speaker 2: to do that m part by growing big clients, corporate clients,
- 1:06Speaker 2: government clients.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, we have got growth across the board.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Our total revenue is up about three point nine percent,
- 1:13Speaker 4: but as you've mentioned, we've got very strong growth across
- 1:15Speaker 4: our mobile portfolio. That is across all segments, but in particular,
- 1:19Speaker 4: we are having increased success in those larger enterprise and
- 1:22Speaker 4: government accounts. Again as our businesses continue to focus on
- 1:25Speaker 4: that end of the market.
- 1:26Speaker 2: How much money you know, how much business are you
- 1:29Speaker 2: taking off your competitors.
- 1:32Speaker 4: It's still pretty tough out there, Ryan, So you know
- 1:34Speaker 4: it is a very tough economic environment, and you can
- 1:37Speaker 4: see that our growth against the headwinds are in the market.
- 1:40Speaker 4: We are winning more than our fair share when it
- 1:42Speaker 4: comes to some of those ones.
- 1:43Speaker 2: How much do you think it's going to pick up
- 1:45Speaker 2: in the second half.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, we're always optimistic.
- 1:49Speaker 4: I was actually hoping to see some green shoots this
- 1:51Speaker 4: side of Christmas, but you know, we're hopeful that we'll
- 1:53Speaker 4: start seeing some good stuff happened early next year. Again,
- 1:56Speaker 4: we're incredibly well positioned, and I think remaining positive is
- 2:00Speaker 4: really critical at this point.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Is your short term strategy then to go after to
- 2:04Speaker 2: try and increase that market share even though the tide
- 2:08Speaker 2: is lifting all boats? Or are you waiting for that
- 2:11Speaker 2: tied now that you've maybe maxed out your markets here
- 2:14Speaker 2: you think you can get in the short term.
- 2:16Speaker 4: No, we absolutely plan to grow more in the next
- 2:18Speaker 4: three years than we have in the previous three years.
- 2:21Speaker 4: We've set a company ambition to be the number one
- 2:23Speaker 4: player by value, innovation and growth. So for us as
- 2:26Speaker 4: a challenge of brand standing for value and fairness in
- 2:29Speaker 4: the market, we see more upside in the coming period.
- 2:32Speaker 4: So it's what will be chasing, It's what our customers
- 2:35Speaker 4: expect from us, and that's what it's about being a challenging.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Some suggestion in the I don't know if you saw
- 2:40Speaker 2: Chris Keell's piece in the Herald today that the way
- 2:43Speaker 2: you've got these contracts might be because you are undercutting
- 2:45Speaker 2: on price.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Again, I hear that a little bit, you know, I
- 2:50Speaker 4: think charging customers fear prices is a pretty good criticism
- 2:54Speaker 4: to have. We're absolutely out there just delivering value outside
- 2:58Speaker 4: of price. We have amazing technology and software platforms for us.
- 3:02Speaker 4: It's how we put productivity tools into our customers hands
- 3:05Speaker 4: and we.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Do that at for your prices. So it's a pretty
- 3:07Speaker 3: good combination.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Hey, I know we've spoken about this before, but the
- 3:10Speaker 2: energy arm of your business and the Gen Taylor's situation,
- 3:14Speaker 2: have you had any indication what's going to go with
- 3:17Speaker 2: We've got this report coming out we're expecting some response
- 3:20Speaker 2: inside the next what five six days from the government.
- 3:24Speaker 4: So now I'm waiting with baited breath Like everyone else,
- 3:28Speaker 4: I remain fear of a hopeful. The sort of messaging
- 3:32Speaker 4: we're hearing is that bold changes required and bold changes coming.
- 3:36Speaker 4: So we're really look forward to seeing what shape that
- 3:38Speaker 4: comes in. And again we're focused on making sure we've
- 3:40Speaker 4: got the right incentives of generation and we have a
- 3:43Speaker 4: competitive platform which lives lower pricing to consumers. You would
- 3:47Speaker 4: have seen the mood of the boardroom again that came
- 3:49Speaker 4: out today and energy prices was top of mind for
- 3:52Speaker 4: many CEOs out there at the moment, So.
- 3:54Speaker 3: It is real.
- 3:55Speaker 4: We need to address it, and we've got to worry
- 3:57Speaker 4: about the best settings for a twenty thirty forty year timeframe.
- 4:00Speaker 2: One of this question often comes up with two degrees mark,
- 4:03Speaker 2: Why aren't you listed on the stock exchange? You've obviously
- 4:06Speaker 2: got private owners. Is that something that is being looked at,
- 4:10Speaker 2: or that might be looked at, or that has been
- 4:13Speaker 2: I know it's been considered in the past, but is
- 4:15Speaker 2: it currently on the table.
- 4:17Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Again, we've just had a new three year strategy reset done.
- 4:22Speaker 4: As I've mentioned we have a growth mandate. We've got
- 4:24Speaker 4: very very supportive shareholders. You know, our job's not done
- 4:27Speaker 4: on this market. We've still got to keep fighting. We
- 4:30Speaker 4: still think we can deliver better value to consumers, and
- 4:32Speaker 4: we've got to keep growing this business. I think today's
- 4:35Speaker 4: results were a really good foundation for what lies ahead.
- 4:38Speaker 4: But you know, we are just at the beginning of
- 4:39Speaker 4: really turning around this business.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Mark appreciate your time. Thanks for coming on the show.
