- 0:08Speaker 1: Well around the nation. This week, we are all Kelly
- 0:11Speaker 1: mcgillis's Charlie Blackwood with the MAVs standing in front of us,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and were saying that is right, But I held something back.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I see some real genius in your playing Mavericks, but
- 0:21Speaker 1: I can't say that in there. I was afraid that
- 0:24Speaker 1: everyone would see right through me, and I just don't
- 0:26Speaker 1: want anyone to know that I've fallen for you. This
- 0:30Speaker 1: week has four becomes three. You're here for No Drible Strapping. Hello,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and welcome to No Drivele the podcast, where we are
- 0:48Speaker 1: going to read the whole script of Maverick twenty twenty
- 0:52Speaker 1: two this week. That's just what I've got playing for.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Is that the fantastic I thought Top Gun two what's
- 0:59Speaker 2: it called?
- 1:00Speaker 3: Is it?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Maverick?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Is just thinkd Maverick?
- 1:02Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it was surprisingly good. Yeah, I thought it was
- 1:06Speaker 2: going to be, so I'm here for it. Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Well, so that was obviously from the OG from the
- 1:11Speaker 1: nineteen eighty six Top Gun movie. But yes, I'm Carolyn Swindell.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I'm Lizellous and I'm hearing person.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I know that's very exciting, is it? And you're in
- 1:20Speaker 1: Thunderboot's colors. I'm in maths colors and way out West.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean black mourning for the Mavericks kind of
- 1:30Speaker 2: and just wondering where the hell your brain goes before
- 1:32Speaker 2: you're rite that shit. That was so clever though. I
- 1:38Speaker 2: loved it. And that scene was where she had got
- 1:41Speaker 2: in her car, hadn't she, and she'd like she'd taken
- 1:44Speaker 2: off and driven through all like the red lights and stuff,
- 1:46Speaker 2: and they and he was on his bike and was
- 1:48Speaker 2: chasing her.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And then now he stormed out because she'd done an
- 1:53Speaker 1: assessment of his flying and then he disputed it, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: then she went, well, no, I was right, that is right,
- 2:01Speaker 1: but I held something back, so she was defending herself.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But I think maybe had there been a chase in that,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I can't remember or do it was it just him
- 2:10Speaker 1: storming out afterwards. Oh, it was so funny. That movie,
- 2:14Speaker 1: so good, And the reason I loved the sequel was
- 2:17Speaker 1: because it was true to that cheesiness.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So true. But actually I reckon that the og stands
- 2:22Speaker 2: up pretty well. I watched it with both of my kids,
- 2:25Speaker 2: the whole tongue pash bit, you know, take my breath. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 2: I just love watching kids reaction when they saw that
- 2:33Speaker 2: I like, eh, ma, that's gross.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I reckon it is the worst on screen kiss, but
- 2:38Speaker 1: I cano it's like, oh.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But I can.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Only the only thing I can recall of the entire
- 2:44Speaker 3: movie is the beach volleyball scene.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Ah, do I remember that scene? Fix or apax? Yeah?
- 2:54Speaker 2: When you see that scene as it as a teenage girl,
- 2:57Speaker 2: it never leaves, you.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Never ever leave. The other quote that I was thinking
- 3:01Speaker 1: about going with was Jester. Remember Jester, that was some
- 3:05Speaker 1: of the best flying I've ever seen to date, right
- 3:07Speaker 1: up to the park where you got killed. And I
- 3:09Speaker 1: thought that's probably be harsh. The's still feeling a bit
- 3:15Speaker 1: a bit sad today, but what a cracking gain it was.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Oh gosh, it was good. It was so good.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You know.
- 3:22Speaker 2: One of the highlights for me was goody seeing Ruth Arianne.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Oh my god, how do we get Sunday? Yeah?
- 3:31Speaker 3: She and you know what, Like, I watched the Ossie
- 3:35Speaker 3: squad get announced, and I wasn't surprised that Ruth didn't
- 3:40Speaker 3: make her because her time on court, she's only just building,
- 3:44Speaker 3: right like she's building. But I can tell you that
- 3:48Speaker 3: if there are spots open for that Ossie squad going
- 3:51Speaker 3: into World Cup next year, and I imagine that there
- 3:53Speaker 3: will still be an opportunity. I would say Ruth Ariange
- 3:58Speaker 3: could be a bolter. She she's she's someone like you know,
- 4:02Speaker 3: she's going to be someone that comes off the bench
- 4:04Speaker 3: for you, even at that Ossie level. But she puts
- 4:07Speaker 3: the fear into oppositions very quickly. She was terrific today
- 4:14Speaker 3: and she's been doing that a train like, she's been
- 4:16Speaker 3: up there and doing that training. But yeah, nice to
- 4:19Speaker 3: pull it out on account and you haven't left just
- 4:22Speaker 3: why yeah, well look to get absolute clarity. Yes, I
- 4:28Speaker 3: have that sort of added Fever aspect to my existence.
- 4:32Speaker 3: But that game, Calling that game yesterday, it was epic,
- 4:36Speaker 3: like it was, don't be wrong. I'm so I'm so
- 4:41Speaker 3: lucky that I get to call most of my commentary
- 4:43Speaker 3: at rac are in because it's just such a dynamic stadium, right,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and the crowd yesterday over twelve and a half thousand
- 4:51Speaker 3: or whatever it was, we're just up and about. Let's
- 4:53Speaker 3: not forget Fever haven't won there for a while, so
- 4:55Speaker 3: they were kind of die this for Fever to get
- 4:58Speaker 3: the wing. But the the way that the Mavericks played
- 5:01Speaker 3: just in that, I mean, the last couple of minutes.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I've just been watching it back prior to us recording today. Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 3: like as a commentator, you kind of dream of that stuff, right,
- 5:10Speaker 3: Like it was just so I just came away at
- 5:12Speaker 3: the end of the game. I was so exhausted, and
- 5:14Speaker 3: I came home and I was going to watch the
- 5:16Speaker 3: game back with my coaching hat on. And it's the
- 5:19Speaker 3: first time this season I didn't. I just couldn't. I
- 5:22Speaker 3: was so cooked, and so I watched some terrible TV
- 5:27Speaker 3: and then I went to bed, insteared at the ceiling
- 5:29Speaker 3: till four this morning.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Just goodn't fit. I think that it's interesting when, if
- 5:35Speaker 2: you think about commentary, sometimes you finish and your brain dead.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So often I would finish a game and if I
- 5:42Speaker 2: was into sad, I'd fly home and land get in
- 5:44Speaker 2: my car, and I'd turn the radio off all the
- 5:46Speaker 2: way home because I just needed to sit in suns.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Do you find that sometimes good you so cooked from
- 5:51Speaker 2: all the noise, and there's the crowd noise, and then
- 5:53Speaker 2: you've got like you've got your headphones on, and so
- 5:57Speaker 2: you've got that noise almost drilling straight into your skull
- 5:59Speaker 2: of your voice in the co commentator's voice, and then
- 6:02Speaker 2: you've got the producer coming into your ears. So sometimes
- 6:06Speaker 2: you just need that silence and you're so exhausted but
- 6:09Speaker 2: so wird at the same time, Like it's a funny feeling,
- 6:12Speaker 2: isn't it. And you played the game, but you're not
- 6:14Speaker 2: so physically spent. Because you're not physically spent, it takes
- 6:17Speaker 2: you a while to Like it used to always take
- 6:20Speaker 2: me a while to wind down from playing after a game,
- 6:22Speaker 2: and we used to play Friday nights and it would
- 6:24Speaker 2: take me to one or two am to get to sleep.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Whereas when you commentating, it actually takes you a bit
- 6:30Speaker 2: longer because you don't have that fifty You're not physically spent,
- 6:32Speaker 2: but you're mentally spent, but you're wired twid.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I have no radio on when I hopped into
- 6:38Speaker 3: my car and it just had dead silent, like just
- 6:41Speaker 3: dead sign now almost to the point, you know those
- 6:43Speaker 3: times where you drive and then you kind of get
- 6:47Speaker 3: there and you don't remember the drive, how.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Did I get here?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Totally?
- 6:51Speaker 1: It sounds a little bit like like doing stand up comedy.
- 6:53Speaker 1: If I'm m seeing it's that same sort of experience.
- 6:56Speaker 1: But I'll go off, someone will come on and do
- 6:58Speaker 1: fifteen minutes and I will go off stat and I
- 7:00Speaker 1: won't have to speak for that time, and rarely is
- 7:03Speaker 1: it me talking for you know, you guys are talking
- 7:07Speaker 1: for an hour without a break and more that there's
- 7:10Speaker 1: before and after, so I can totally understand that, and
- 7:13Speaker 1: I will often when I get home after again not
- 7:16Speaker 1: be able to sleep for quite some time.
- 7:18Speaker 2: But you are underpressured to be funny, whereas when we're funny,
- 7:21Speaker 2: it's like bonus.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well, but you are you need to know what. There's
- 7:25Speaker 1: a lot of people with very strong opinions about what
- 7:27Speaker 1: you say, and they'll rewind it. Unfortunately, what happens in
- 7:30Speaker 1: the club stays in the club usually, so whereas for
- 7:33Speaker 1: you guys, it's like, well, I'm watching it on delay
- 7:36Speaker 1: and I thought you got that wrong, and I've rewounded
- 7:38Speaker 1: and I've paused here.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And when I used to comment to it, i'd like
- 7:41Speaker 2: it when people said why don't you talk about that?
- 7:44Speaker 2: And often it was an attacking thing, and I'd be like,
- 7:46Speaker 2: I did not notice. I don't remember that the next time.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Because it's funny. When you watch a game, I tend
- 7:54Speaker 2: to just watch the defensive yeah, like, rather than watching
- 7:59Speaker 2: so yes, so watching all the fever and all of maps.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I really struggled to watch the whole game. It's just
- 8:04Speaker 2: muscle memory. I just focus on what the defensive unit
- 8:07Speaker 2: are doing. And that was like in Coventry. I just
- 8:10Speaker 2: have to write notes to myself to talk about the shooters.
- 8:13Speaker 1: So in one of my netball group chats where we're
- 8:16Speaker 1: chatting away during the game yesterday, I was asking everyone
- 8:20Speaker 1: to name who do you think from any current players,
- 8:24Speaker 1: let's form a team of people who you think you
- 8:26Speaker 1: could be best friends with. And I have a very
- 8:28Speaker 1: strong bias to people women over thirty who play center court.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I just think they're the best people.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Totally.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, epic game yesterday. Epic game is an epic game.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Is this the first time I've had Susan Gordian am?
- 8:48Speaker 2: It is the first time because Susan Gordion am.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And I'm glad you brought that up because I'm getting
- 8:52Speaker 1: stressed because we're not actually in our netball segment yet,
- 8:55Speaker 1: so we need to talk about people getting awards from Royalty.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Do we have any present?
- 9:02Speaker 3: Oh?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yes, here's one.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Congratulations, Thank you.
- 9:07Speaker 2: It was funny. My niece sent me a text message
- 9:09Speaker 2: last night.
- 9:11Speaker 3: She lives in Melbourne and they were having a little
- 9:14Speaker 3: watch party around the TV for the game, and then
- 9:17Speaker 3: she snapped a shot of the TV screen where it
- 9:19Speaker 3: said Sue Gordyon Ham, which I didn't even realize the
- 9:22Speaker 3: entire comment. I don't look at the graphics. Those graphics often.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I don't even know if those graphics come up on
- 9:27Speaker 3: our screen. I know all the stat graphics do. But
- 9:30Speaker 3: I thought, oh, yeah, little gentle reminder. And then I
- 9:33Speaker 3: actually got a very thick reminder today from someone politically
- 9:36Speaker 3: who messaged me and said, can you please put your
- 9:40Speaker 3: I can't remember the words they use, but basically am
- 9:43Speaker 3: on your social phenomenals. Yeah, she posted on was because
- 9:48Speaker 3: you're supposed to do that, and they get a bit
- 9:50Speaker 3: annoyed if you don't.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I was like, oh god, I've just been building up.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I did.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I linked in like a couple of days ago, and
- 9:56Speaker 3: then I had to breathe.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And so then it was I wanted you to put
- 10:00Speaker 2: your postnominals on your socials linked or yours are on list.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I think I had on there. I'm a bit hopeless.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Maybe I should like it's one of the proudest things
- 10:11Speaker 2: you can get, but you also don't.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Want to look like no, do you anyhow, so I
- 10:17Speaker 3: done that.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I will tell you if it was me, I'd get
- 10:19Speaker 1: a tattooed on my forehead and I would walk around
- 10:22Speaker 1: and anyone could think I was a wanker if they
- 10:25Speaker 1: wanted to, I would be proud as punch.
- 10:27Speaker 2: So good for you.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And one of the dribblers told me that in the
- 10:30Speaker 1: citation they did actually mention the centurions, so.
- 10:35Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't put a lot in about that, like
- 10:39Speaker 3: I don't know, that's just like a oh, I don't know.
- 10:43Speaker 3: That was a brain fart of two years that Nelly
- 10:45Speaker 3: killed me. So I think I'm right very many.
- 10:49Speaker 2: It was a lot of fun.
- 10:50Speaker 3: But I have never I took myself to the limits
- 10:54Speaker 3: on the old centurions, I can tell you.
- 10:56Speaker 2: So it was wasps of fun. So I'm not giving
- 11:00Speaker 2: anything away. As the chair of NEPHOR Australia, I wreacked
- 11:03Speaker 2: to Susan to congratulate he and I changed I changed
- 11:07Speaker 2: the letter because it was dear Sue blah blah blah.
- 11:11Speaker 2: This is Lizzelli's chair, so I changed it to do
- 11:14Speaker 2: Susan Godian my laugh and I'm glad you didn't. And
- 11:21Speaker 2: I put in actually added some stuff about the Centurion's
- 11:24Speaker 2: a fantastically acclaimed Centurion stage showed at the end from Elizabeth.
- 11:28Speaker 2: That was quite a good laugh at So you don't
- 11:31Speaker 2: want to take the mickey too much because it is
- 11:33Speaker 2: it is an official congratulations from the entire organization, and
- 11:36Speaker 2: it's always I'm always really keen to make sure we
- 11:39Speaker 2: can gradulate, whether it's you or whether it's anybody else,
- 11:42Speaker 2: a community network, person whoever. Like it's such a massive
- 11:46Speaker 2: thing that we should we should absolutely jump on and
- 11:48Speaker 2: congratulate you. But I thought if I just send like
- 11:50Speaker 2: a an average letter, I felt the pressure I was
- 11:53Speaker 2: spending an average letters.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you needed to personalize. And when I
- 11:58Speaker 1: was doing my book signings, I put a little dick
- 12:01Speaker 1: and balls on anyone who I knew at the bottom
- 12:04Speaker 1: because I love well then you know that's from me
- 12:07Speaker 1: to you, and so you needed to make sure that
- 12:09Speaker 1: soon you This is not from not just from Netball Australia,
- 12:12Speaker 1: this is from her friend Elizabeth.
- 12:14Speaker 2: So now they're on YouTube, I feel like people can
- 12:17Speaker 2: watch this and they need to know I'm not on
- 12:19Speaker 2: my phone being rude. I've just changed I think, Oh
- 12:22Speaker 2: I'm I changed it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: See I'm not like, thank you God, you've mentioned YouTube,
- 12:27Speaker 1: because poor Alex, our producer, every week, says to me, Carolyn,
- 12:30Speaker 1: do you think this week you might remember to mention
- 12:32Speaker 1: to tell people that these episodes are now on YouTube,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and so thank you Liz and my apology Alex. But yes, everyone,
- 12:40Speaker 1: we are now publishing on YouTube.
- 12:43Speaker 2: So also free.
- 12:45Speaker 1: So you make up free, hair and make out free.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Look at this today over on the ys case. We've
- 12:56Speaker 1: got makeup on today because of other commitments this morning.
- 12:59Speaker 2: But look fabulous.
- 13:02Speaker 1: And sorry, just over your it's your left shoulder. That
- 13:06Speaker 1: would be Bailey. That's Bailey Bailey. So we've talked about
- 13:10Speaker 1: Bailey in the past.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Oh, there she is.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Bailey.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And Bailey also.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Has no no makeup on, none of her outfits, none
- 13:20Speaker 1: of the pretties.
- 13:21Speaker 2: So Bailey is a dog we should say for people
- 13:23Speaker 2: who are not Oh yes, Bailey is. So.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Billy's Sue Gordion's dog who we've spoken about in the past,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and Kats revealed that when she went and stayed with
- 13:31Speaker 1: Gordie that Bailey has a box of dress ups and
- 13:35Speaker 1: the dog's not as keen as soon.
- 13:38Speaker 3: No, if Bailey were to put on her pretties right
- 13:42Speaker 3: now do you want to put on your pretties? Oh no,
- 13:45Speaker 3: I don't think so. She would stand still and not put.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Up her middle finger at you. Yes, really did?
- 13:51Speaker 3: She has an enormous Yeah, she wouldn't move. So maybe
- 13:55Speaker 3: we can set that up for a podcast down the track.
- 13:57Speaker 3: It's great viewing, I can tell you. I think it's
- 14:01Speaker 3: called animal abuse. Now can I suggest I think Bailey
- 14:05Speaker 3: should be in the Tipping Cup next year? Okay, fantastic,
- 14:09Speaker 3: as well as Gordie.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Bailey bally needs and we need to figure out
- 14:13Speaker 2: how Bailey chooses each week.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, well but I had to just glope for
- 14:18Speaker 3: a moment. How was my run home on the Tippy Yes?
- 14:21Speaker 1: Sood you got the five?
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 14:24Speaker 3: I was the biggest fan of the podcast. I couldn't
- 14:26Speaker 3: wait to get in and listen last week because I again,
- 14:29Speaker 3: I forget and I never ticked the box that says
- 14:31Speaker 3: all email the tips to me, So I just forget.
- 14:34Speaker 2: My week goes on as hectic as.
- 14:35Speaker 3: It is, and then as the games run fighting, I'm like,
- 14:38Speaker 3: I think I might have tipped that, and I know
- 14:40Speaker 3: I did that one. I think I wonder how it went.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And then when I heard that you said, there was
- 14:43Speaker 3: a bolt. I literally had to pull my car over.
- 14:47Speaker 3: I was so bloody excited, mostly to beat Catherine.
- 14:51Speaker 2: But how was that? Catherine was a little bit miffed.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I'm so bad at tipping. So yep, this this is
- 14:58Speaker 2: a moment. This is a moment. It's almost like my aub.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Well, how do you put it in the scale of fever?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Staring down the barrel of potentially another Grand Final appearance?
- 15:15Speaker 1: I mean, I'll be happy, all right, Well, let's take
- 15:20Speaker 1: a break and then come back and talk a little
- 15:23Speaker 1: bit about some nipple. Okay, I hope everyone used their
- 15:37Speaker 1: break to better themselves, to learn something. Sue be on court,
- 15:42Speaker 1: has this ever happened before?
- 15:45Speaker 2: I know, a buzzing?
- 15:46Speaker 1: Can you believe it?
- 15:48Speaker 2: I can't believe it. Yeah, I couldn't yet. So the
- 15:51Speaker 2: camera just zooms in and rameldeeraken George is swiping ab
- 15:56Speaker 2: away from jesse Grenville. Love moments like that.
- 16:00Speaker 1: And the game went on, didn't it?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Was there a help ball after that?
- 16:03Speaker 1: I couldn't work.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Out what went on.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Sasha Glasgow scored a super shot. She couldn't give a
- 16:08Speaker 3: shite what was going on, So that jesse Grenville was
- 16:11Speaker 3: trying to get her hand.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I don't think Jesse even knew. I think Ramelda was
- 16:15Speaker 2: the one that noticed that. She sort of swiped that.
- 16:17Speaker 3: Jesse flicked the hair and then Sasha was like, get
- 16:20Speaker 3: on with her umpire had no idea what was going on.
- 16:23Speaker 3: I spoke to a few people in the crowd and
- 16:24Speaker 3: they were sort of laughing because they could see Ramelda
- 16:27Speaker 3: kind of swiping.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Her hands with that. Where sure what she was doing?
- 16:31Speaker 2: And then Glasgow shot a goal that buzzed through the middle.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It is the most random thing to happen because it's like,
- 16:38Speaker 1: it's a long way from the outdoors to get to
- 16:42Speaker 1: that point on the court, and it's like, how did
- 16:46Speaker 1: this bee get there? And what was the bee thinking
- 16:49Speaker 1: the whole way It's going off and made a left
- 16:51Speaker 1: turn at Albuquerque Year like this is wrong.
- 16:56Speaker 2: It was. It was very bizarre. I've never I've never
- 17:00Speaker 2: seen I've seen a streaker run across a netball court
- 17:04Speaker 2: many many moons, well, many many moons ago. Do you
- 17:12Speaker 2: remember that list? Do you remember that? It was actually a.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Game in Perth that was back in the old A
- 17:17Speaker 3: and Z championship days and it was Pulse v. Fever
- 17:21Speaker 3: and it was Irene van Dyp playing goal shooter, and yes,
- 17:25Speaker 3: I was common. I don't know if I was commentating
- 17:27Speaker 3: with you, I can't even remember, but I know I
- 17:29Speaker 3: was on commentary. And next minute this guy jumps out
- 17:32Speaker 3: of the crowd with a flag around his neck, fully
- 17:34Speaker 3: stuck as and runs across the court. And then all
- 17:36Speaker 3: I could hear in aw, it was with we're in
- 17:38Speaker 3: the channel ten days I think, And all I could
- 17:40Speaker 3: hear in is don't put.
- 17:41Speaker 2: A camera on it, don't put a camera on it.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Tell me Underwood and over there, and I think you
- 17:46Speaker 2: were doing sidelines, yeah, but I think it was yeah, yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 2: how funny. I forgot about that. So was that in Australia?
- 17:54Speaker 3: Right?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Okay, just when you said Pulse?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Then I got distracted because of course Manchester thunderbeat London
- 18:00Speaker 1: Pulse in the what's it called Super League over there?
- 18:03Speaker 1: And you know, Sophie Fawn's player of the match, and.
- 18:08Speaker 2: How lovely were all the photos of her with her
- 18:10Speaker 2: fan How who cried when they saw that? That was amazing?
- 18:13Speaker 2: So yeah, I was so pleased for Sophie. It's a
- 18:15Speaker 2: big move. She's gone over there and she's not at
- 18:18Speaker 2: so congrats to so.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So Manchester thunder were the minor premiers in that league
- 18:23Speaker 1: and then went on to win the Grand Final. Ah,
- 18:27Speaker 1: we looking at potentially the same thing here, who knows,
- 18:30Speaker 1: But it's let's still about the first game of the weekend,
- 18:32Speaker 1: because we've only talked about the MAVs fever, because I
- 18:35Speaker 1: think that was arguably a much more exciting game to watch.
- 18:40Speaker 1: But Thunderbirds, God, Sue, you must be like they're burning
- 18:46Speaker 1: the midnight oil thinking about what the hell to do
- 18:48Speaker 1: about that?
- 18:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so that you know, I think, first and foremost
- 18:53Speaker 3: cuteos to the Vixens, who came out with a game
- 18:57Speaker 3: plan that worked for the first thirty minutes within reason,
- 19:00Speaker 3: I guess, within reason and held what the Thunderbirds to
- 19:04Speaker 3: literally no intercepts in that first thirty minutes and that's
- 19:07Speaker 3: almost unheard of. So whilst you take nothing away from
- 19:10Speaker 3: their attack and with what Georgie Horges and Lauren Frew
- 19:13Speaker 3: and Almare Vanderberg are capable of, you know, their defense
- 19:17Speaker 3: end is what gives their attack and all the confidence
- 19:20Speaker 3: in the world. And so the fact that they didn't
- 19:22Speaker 3: get hand on ball early was a credit to Vixen's attack.
- 19:26Speaker 3: And then I think Lily Graham being back on and
- 19:29Speaker 3: her injection and her four super shots. You kind of
- 19:33Speaker 3: I was watching, we were you know, makeup, et cetera,
- 19:36Speaker 3: and we all had the game on and I was
- 19:37Speaker 3: watching them, like, gee, this is the Vixens that you
- 19:39Speaker 3: expecting finals.
- 19:41Speaker 2: But then in that second.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Half, you just saw, you just saw this team that
- 19:47Speaker 3: we've known all year, this Thunderbirds team that just continue,
- 19:52Speaker 3: just continue to find a way through their absolute class.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Like again, Georgie Horges is in credit. And I don't
- 20:01Speaker 3: think it's ever been a secret of how much a
- 20:03Speaker 3: fan I was of Steph Wood and her game in
- 20:05Speaker 3: the day, because I loved her, her creativity and her playmaking.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I go back to the era where Natalie Avelina used
- 20:11Speaker 3: to play, and you know, whilst they weren't the fastest
- 20:14Speaker 3: on the court, their brain was incredible and the way
- 20:17Speaker 3: they could craft their attack ends. And I look at
- 20:19Speaker 3: Georgie Horges and she'd be a dream in any team
- 20:22Speaker 3: because she is just a genius. And so then you
- 20:25Speaker 3: add to that this kind of body explosion of Elmere Vanderberg.
- 20:28Speaker 3: So Thunderbird's incredible. Lizzie Ellis, have you ever in your
- 20:33Speaker 3: existence seen in intercept like the one Shamira Stirling Humphrey
- 20:37Speaker 3: took over the back of Sophie Garbin. Honestly, if it
- 20:40Speaker 3: wasn't headlining every AFL bloody coverage of sport news channels,
- 20:46Speaker 3: I don't know what it was.
- 20:47Speaker 2: It was nominaling. Yeah, it was so insane.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It's got superhuman.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Well umpired, yeah, well and clean right no whistle yeah right.
- 20:58Speaker 2: But I think sometimes like the temptation is to go, oh,
- 21:02Speaker 2: that can't possibly happen, so I have to buy my resource. Yeah, absolutely,
- 21:06Speaker 2: just let it go. It was unbelievable. She is. She
- 21:10Speaker 2: just stuts stuff and you think to yourself, that's not
- 21:13Speaker 2: legal in terms of physics and the way we all
- 21:16Speaker 2: are put together. But Shamira's selling Humphreys is amazing. I
- 21:21Speaker 2: think it's interesting when you think about the way Vixen's
- 21:23Speaker 2: played in that first half. It's exhausting and they did
- 21:27Speaker 2: that really well. A couple of years ago in the
- 21:28Speaker 2: Grand Final they got pumped by the Thunderboots and semi.
- 21:31Speaker 2: They came back to Adelaide and they played that keep
- 21:34Speaker 2: you off your game, but you know, we're really patient
- 21:37Speaker 2: with the ball and having done it now for you know,
- 21:40Speaker 2: really well for half a gun. If they can go
- 21:43Speaker 2: away and then figure out a way to do it
- 21:44Speaker 2: for the full game, it becomes a bit of a
- 21:47Speaker 2: problem for whoever they're playing it and next week and
- 21:49Speaker 2: if they make it through the week after. But it's
- 21:52Speaker 2: like the blueprint is there, and it's very all, very
- 21:54Speaker 2: well to say the blueprints there, the gameplay is there.
- 21:57Speaker 2: It's a really hard way to play a network.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I mean, you look ahead and you say that, I mean,
- 22:03Speaker 3: and I say this, you know, with no bias involved
- 22:07Speaker 3: in terms of my association with West Coast Fever. But
- 22:10Speaker 3: the Grand Final is for the Thunderbirds to lose, like
- 22:13Speaker 3: you know, their performance when you think about it, like
- 22:15Speaker 3: the way they have beaten, like the Vixens. Yes, beat
- 22:18Speaker 3: the Thunderbirds once this year, but that was very early
- 22:21Speaker 3: on in the year. Their last two performances against the
- 22:24Speaker 3: Vixens have been convincing. If by chance, the Fever beat
- 22:27Speaker 3: the Vixens next week and go in, they have convincingly.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Beat the Fever.
- 22:31Speaker 3: So the Thunderbirds sit there with a week off an
- 22:34Speaker 3: absolute confidence and form to say that that championship trophy
- 22:38Speaker 3: is ours to lose, and then I guess, you know,
- 22:42Speaker 3: you wait and see I think if the Vixens go in,
- 22:45Speaker 3: it's a mentally tough battle, and if Fever going they
- 22:47Speaker 3: go in with the mindset of nothing to lose, and
- 22:49Speaker 3: probably maybe the better of the two competitors against the
- 22:53Speaker 3: Thunderbirds given the mental aspect of the game. But either way,
- 22:57Speaker 3: you know Thunderbirds have one hand firmly on the trophy
- 23:01Speaker 3: and it will take some real work from either the
- 23:03Speaker 3: Victions or Fever to get across the line.
- 23:06Speaker 2: It's funny though, I thought that last year about Fever
- 23:09Speaker 2: before the final started. I thought, oh, everyone's just competing
- 23:11Speaker 2: for the righte to lose the Grand Final to Fever.
- 23:14Speaker 2: So I think you're right, Gordy. But I also think
- 23:17Speaker 2: that anything can happen in a Grand Final, and underestimated
- 23:21Speaker 2: the Vixen's at your pair all right, and Fever lost
- 23:24Speaker 2: the Grand Final last year, they'll find something extra like
- 23:27Speaker 2: It's I think you're so right. I think Thunderbirds have
- 23:31Speaker 2: shown that they are just a class above everybody else.
- 23:34Speaker 2: But I also firmly believe that Grand finals are funny
- 23:38Speaker 2: old beasts.
- 23:40Speaker 1: And that week off too. So the Thunderbirds now have
- 23:42Speaker 1: next weekend off. Whoever wins out of the Vixens and
- 23:45Speaker 1: fever will go through a tough game and will feel
- 23:50Speaker 1: good for winning that tough game whoever, whoever comes through it.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So yeah, for the interesting. I really like watching the
- 23:57Speaker 1: way Tanya Obst has used her bench through the whole season,
- 24:01Speaker 1: like she's been really like all of those women have
- 24:05Speaker 1: had good court time, Like there's some of them here
- 24:08Speaker 1: you are. I would have expected you to have maybe
- 24:09Speaker 1: a bit more, but they've all had good court time,
- 24:12Speaker 1: Like there's no there's no ash even sitting on that
- 24:15Speaker 1: on the Thunderbird's bench in your game will hang on
- 24:17Speaker 1: where are your where are your minutes?
- 24:19Speaker 3: And so the modern day game at Sun Corpse Super Nepol.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I don't know if you want to say this is
- 24:25Speaker 3: similar international, because I think different countries, different depths. But
- 24:31Speaker 3: the modern day game now is about role play. And
- 24:37Speaker 3: you know, Lizy, if you go back to your Europe.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I will be the French maid and I will pay
- 24:43Speaker 1: wind de fence.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I so could hear your brain ticking over there. We're
- 24:52Speaker 2: just back from the radio, Lizzie.
- 24:59Speaker 3: I was going to say, you know, like, with no disrespect,
- 25:01Speaker 3: go back to the era of yours and even go
- 25:03Speaker 3: back a little bit further and the starting seven. That
- 25:08Speaker 3: was a real concept of the game, and a lot
- 25:09Speaker 3: of the coaches that coach through that era were about,
- 25:12Speaker 3: you know, we get the seven out on court and
- 25:14Speaker 3: I've got to grind their way and craft their way
- 25:15Speaker 3: through the game, and very rarely that kind of rolling
- 25:19Speaker 3: concept didn't really exist. But with the rule change now
- 25:22Speaker 3: and the way in which coaches do role players, but
- 25:25Speaker 3: also the depth and quality that sit on the benches
- 25:27Speaker 3: in the world's best netball league, role playing French made
- 25:31Speaker 3: or otherwise is so bloody important in the game now.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And I think this is what I find really interesting
- 25:37Speaker 3: going into recruitment periods, because you plays players can sit inside,
- 25:43Speaker 3: like I go to the Thunderbirds, right, would you leave
- 25:45Speaker 3: the Thunderbirds when you're probably sitting there on a dynasty,
- 25:49Speaker 3: all right? Or if he's sitting playing twenty three, twenty seven,
- 25:54Speaker 3: thirty one minutes a game, are you prepared to go
- 25:57Speaker 3: to another club and lose being part of a dinner
- 26:00Speaker 3: and success potentially to run sixty minutes again? And everyone's
- 26:05Speaker 3: unique circumstances RND. Everyone's a little bit different, but it's
- 26:09Speaker 3: a really interesting one that some players could be very
- 26:11Speaker 3: content with the fact that they get to sit inside
- 26:13Speaker 3: a great existence, a great club. They're happy twenty six minutes,
- 26:17Speaker 3: but they play a fundamental role and their team successful
- 26:20Speaker 3: interesting times.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Part of that, I reckon Goy. That's a really interesting question, right,
- 26:25Speaker 2: because there's only three reserves at the moment, and even
- 26:29Speaker 2: if we went to squad size as the twelve in
- 26:31Speaker 2: years to come, it's five reserves. So there's still some
- 26:34Speaker 2: players who will play the majority of games. So the
- 26:39Speaker 2: thing that decides that will probably decide whether a player
- 26:43Speaker 2: stays or goes are the intangils, right, and one of
- 26:45Speaker 2: those is club culture and what else is there that's
- 26:49Speaker 2: keeping you there. If you've got a coach who really
- 26:52Speaker 2: gives you buy into the game plan, say, guess you
- 26:54Speaker 2: have a limited role in terms of minutes, but when
- 26:56Speaker 2: you come on, your role is super important. There are
- 26:58Speaker 2: the things I think that play will weigh up. You know,
- 27:01Speaker 2: do I feel valued? Do I feel like when I
- 27:04Speaker 2: contribute it goes to the heart of the game plan.
- 27:07Speaker 2: What other opportunities are here for me? And this is
- 27:09Speaker 2: what you know. Players will all weigh up now because
- 27:13Speaker 2: back when I was playing, minutes were king, but you
- 27:17Speaker 2: also played, I should say minutes a Queen, we are
- 27:20Speaker 2: matriarchal at noteable, but you also were paid, right, So
- 27:25Speaker 2: we played with our friends, so you wanted to be
- 27:27Speaker 2: where your mates were. We'd have fun. We all got
- 27:29Speaker 2: along with each other and still my closest mates of
- 27:31Speaker 2: people I played with. But now that it's a job,
- 27:35Speaker 2: actually it's a little bit different. Players will start to
- 27:37Speaker 2: weigh up different aspects.
- 27:40Speaker 1: It's a job, but it's not a job that's paid outstandingly,
- 27:45Speaker 1: which is an unfortunate reality of our game at the moment.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So there's also you know, you're going to live at
- 27:51Speaker 1: home you can, right, So there's all of those other
- 27:54Speaker 1: elements that come into play. Do you move across the
- 27:58Speaker 1: countryside for an opportunity and them know, you know, maybe
- 28:03Speaker 1: your family can help support you or whatever if the
- 28:05Speaker 1: salary is not is not that great, but you know,
- 28:07Speaker 1: moving into a city like Sydney and Perth, two of
- 28:10Speaker 1: the most expensive cities on Earth, that's going to bear
- 28:12Speaker 1: you know, come to play in people's decisions about where
- 28:15Speaker 1: they go, isn't it.
- 28:18Speaker 3: So yeah, I just think it's interesting we're talking about
- 28:20Speaker 3: the Thunderbirds in her like they've got players that you know,
- 28:23Speaker 3: you can see that they roll on Taylor Williams as
- 28:25Speaker 3: a prime example of one that comes on at wing
- 28:27Speaker 3: attack later in the game. But the role she plays
- 28:30Speaker 3: for the minute she's on the quarters just integral to
- 28:33Speaker 3: their performance, you know, so you kind of open she's
- 28:36Speaker 3: probably capable sixty minute player in any other team.
- 28:39Speaker 2: But what does she do?
- 28:39Speaker 3: Does she stay at the club where you know, she
- 28:42Speaker 3: can be at home in her home, stayed amongst the
- 28:44Speaker 3: team that she obviously gets along very well with. She's
- 28:47Speaker 3: just one example that pops to mind for me, and
- 28:49Speaker 3: staying in a in a club that looks like you know,
- 28:52Speaker 3: they could potentially look at the age and stage of
- 28:54Speaker 3: their players and they could potentially be sitting on one
- 28:56Speaker 3: of the greatest dynasties in this in this in this league.
- 29:00Speaker 3: So it'll be interesting once we get to that time
- 29:04Speaker 3: for recruitment not too far away.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Well, we are going to talk more about the signings
- 29:09Speaker 1: period on Friday's episode, but I will say there's a
- 29:13Speaker 1: whole lot of people on social media saying love MAVs,
- 29:16Speaker 1: They're my second team. If they're your second team, give
- 29:19Speaker 1: the club some money next year, buy a supporters membership
- 29:22Speaker 1: even if you can't go to the game, or you
- 29:24Speaker 1: live interstate. The only way these guys are going to
- 29:27Speaker 1: be able to grow, the only way any of these
- 29:30Speaker 1: clubs can grow, is if we actually go. Yeah, I'm
- 29:33Speaker 1: willing to put my money behind this. Then I will
- 29:35Speaker 1: buy a membership, I will buy some merch, I will
- 29:37Speaker 1: try to go to the games. But you don't have
- 29:39Speaker 1: to go to the games in order to be making
- 29:41Speaker 1: a contribution to the club. So if the MAVs are
- 29:44Speaker 1: your second team, do something about that next year. Get
- 29:48Speaker 1: on board the mav train. You know, we have the
- 29:51Speaker 1: G train here today, but get on board the Math train,
- 29:54Speaker 1: and I I don't think you'll bloody regret it. I
- 29:56Speaker 1: think next year we will be seen even more awesomeness
- 29:59Speaker 1: from None of those Maths look to me like they're
- 30:02Speaker 1: unhappy with the club that they're in. They look certainly.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Their language after the game was talking about where they're
- 30:08Speaker 1: going to be next year, what their plan is, So
- 30:10Speaker 1: I think they would all be hoping to be there.
- 30:14Speaker 1: We'll take a little break. I have an interesting ask
- 30:16Speaker 1: the goat, and I'm actually going to not just ask
- 30:20Speaker 1: the goat, I'm going to ask the G train about
- 30:23Speaker 1: this one too. Okay, yes, so I did promise this
- 30:38Speaker 1: remember if you have a question for the Goat or
- 30:41Speaker 1: the goal or the g train, don't send me questions.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I have very little of any wisdom to share, but
- 30:50Speaker 1: send it to info at no dribble dot com dot
- 30:52Speaker 1: are you And this one has come from the United Kingdom,
- 30:55Speaker 1: no less, Yes, yes, there's some interesting stuff in this one.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So now I've looked up how to pronounce this. I
- 31:02Speaker 1: think it's Davida, but I apologize if that is incorrect.
- 31:05Speaker 1: But anyway, riding all the way from the UK. Then
- 31:09Speaker 1: there's some really nice stuff about how much he loves
- 31:11Speaker 1: the podcast, which is wonderful and dream one day is
- 31:13Speaker 1: to visit Australia and head to a super NETBWK, going
- 31:16Speaker 1: highly recommend let us know if you're doing that. I
- 31:19Speaker 1: had to ask the Goat or a goala a question.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So I play in a mixed league in reading lots
- 31:25Speaker 1: of fun, but as a goal shooter who is trying
- 31:27Speaker 1: to protect the space for my goal attack. When shooting,
- 31:30Speaker 1: I try to get under the defender during their lean
- 31:33Speaker 1: and have been called for contact, having taken inspiration from
- 31:37Speaker 1: super NETBWK. However, they don't seem to be called to contact.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Could you please explain how this works, Thanks so much
- 31:46Speaker 1: in advance. All Right, who wants to have a first
- 31:50Speaker 1: crack at this? I can see Liz, Yes, I can
- 31:55Speaker 1: see Liz's itching to get involved in the clarity.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Can I just seek clarity?
- 32:01Speaker 1: So you'll do my best to give it to you.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Well, is the question? So she is a goal shooter
- 32:07Speaker 2: and she's standing Oh he is he? Yeah, sorry I
- 32:10Speaker 2: missed the name. My apologies.
- 32:12Speaker 3: He's a goal shooter standing in front of a defender
- 32:16Speaker 3: trying to protect the space of his goal attack shooting,
- 32:20Speaker 3: and is getting called for contact against the defender.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Is that my understanding of the question as it is written.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Let's let's assume that that is David's in teaching in
- 32:33Speaker 1: this right, and let's answer that question.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Well, I already know how Liz is going to answer it,
- 32:39Speaker 2: so let's be honest. Go on, Liz, no, you go no? Well,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I mean, you know, contacts obvious. If you contact the player,
- 32:51Speaker 2: it's contact.
- 32:51Speaker 3: So the best way to answer this question is if
- 32:54Speaker 3: you are going to protect the space, then you can't
- 32:57Speaker 3: be You have to stand up right. You can't If
- 32:59Speaker 3: you bend over at any point and make contact with
- 33:01Speaker 3: the defender, the umpire is going to call contact, so
- 33:04Speaker 3: it's in your stance. But I would assume that if
- 33:08Speaker 3: you're being called for contact, it is because you are contacting,
- 33:11Speaker 3: and a defender is well entitled to defend over the top,
- 33:14Speaker 3: and you're well entitled to step in and defend the
- 33:16Speaker 3: space as long as you don't contact or they don't contact.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I would think it's a matter of timing. If
- 33:23Speaker 2: the defender is already leaning and you come in and
- 33:26Speaker 2: sort of push against them, I think you're probably going
- 33:28Speaker 2: to go for contact then. But if you take up
- 33:32Speaker 2: that space between your shooter and the defender first and
- 33:34Speaker 2: then the defender trying to lead over, yeah, no, probably
- 33:37Speaker 2: that it go. I suspect umpiring in super netball, lets
- 33:41Speaker 2: it go, because it's a bit half for done dozen
- 33:43Speaker 2: of one and the other. You'd have to be really
- 33:44Speaker 2: obvious to make it really bad either way. So I
- 33:48Speaker 2: suspect it's all about timing when you get in there
- 33:51Speaker 2: and burrow your way in underneath the shit overerneath the defender.
- 33:55Speaker 1: But if the defender's already got their arm up and
- 33:57Speaker 1: you move into that space and you don't touch them,
- 34:00Speaker 1: but you prevent them from being able to lean without touching,
- 34:03Speaker 1: you That's okay, isn't it like that's that's like, yeah.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like I said, contact the person, he might
- 34:12Speaker 2: take it out of my face. You're in the way.
- 34:15Speaker 2: That wasn't a responsible you were going to give.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Liz, Oh what did you think she was going to say?
- 34:20Speaker 2: No, she was just going to the funny, funny, much
- 34:22Speaker 2: funnier thing. PETA would be to say they should the
- 34:25Speaker 2: attackers should get out of the way and let the
- 34:27Speaker 2: defenders go and let the defenders just push him out
- 34:30Speaker 2: of the way. But that would be improper. Stand there
- 34:34Speaker 2: at your peril under my arm pit.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Ye, where does the three feet come from in the
- 34:42Speaker 1: center pass? I'm not asking you this, Liz. You've never
- 34:44Speaker 1: had anything to do with the center pass? But does
- 34:46Speaker 1: it come from the edge of the circle or the
- 34:49Speaker 1: or the foot of the.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Of the center Sorry, I'm just laughing because I know
- 34:55Speaker 3: this is like go to YouTube to watch this bit, everyone, please,
- 34:58Speaker 3: But Bailey's just decided go for a walk with her
- 35:00Speaker 3: blanky on.
- 35:01Speaker 2: It's about the only thing you walk everyone. I wish
- 35:06Speaker 2: she was.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Doing that thing dogs do where they wiped their bum
- 35:09Speaker 1: on the carpet.
- 35:14Speaker 3: She's sneezing, I fege your question from the weather, I
- 35:19Speaker 3: can't agree what your question was.
- 35:21Speaker 1: My question was in the in the center pass, does
- 35:24Speaker 1: the three feet that the opposing center has to defend
- 35:28Speaker 1: from come from the foot off the of the attacking
- 35:32Speaker 1: center or from the edge of the goal circle? Because
- 35:35Speaker 1: we had an umpire in a kid's game on the weekend,
- 35:38Speaker 1: say that it was from the edge of the circle,
- 35:41Speaker 1: and kat the edge of the circle?
- 35:44Speaker 3: Is it?
- 35:44Speaker 2: So?
- 35:44Speaker 1: So if you're smart as the center, you would actually
- 35:48Speaker 1: not go right to the center of the center circle.
- 35:50Speaker 1: You would go to the sort of step as far
- 35:53Speaker 1: back from that as you from the center as you
- 35:55Speaker 1: can right to make it.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Well, yeah, well, if you're worried to are you saying, Gordy,
- 36:02Speaker 2: you have to be three feet if you're the defending center,
- 36:04Speaker 2: you have to be three feet from the endless circle
- 36:06Speaker 2: and not three feet from the feet of the person
- 36:09Speaker 2: the other center who has on the center part. God,
- 36:12Speaker 2: hold on, I have I so coached my team wrong? Well,
- 36:17Speaker 2: this is the thing.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I am no, and so you know I was talking
- 36:21Speaker 1: to our center. This is a team I don't coach,
- 36:23Speaker 1: by the way, So I'm really doing terrifically well as
- 36:25Speaker 1: drinking coffee and sitting on the sidelines of mine in
- 36:27Speaker 1: my own bloody business. But it's a girl that I
- 36:30Speaker 1: have coached for four years. So afterwards I said to her,
- 36:32Speaker 1: come over, let's talk to the umpire and I said,
- 36:34Speaker 1: part of your job, even if you disagree with what
- 36:37Speaker 1: the interpretation is, that's irrelevant when she has the whistle,
- 36:41Speaker 1: So go and find out what the interpretation is and
- 36:44Speaker 1: adjust your play to that.
- 36:46Speaker 2: That's excellent advice.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. I'm sure the coach was thrilled
- 36:49Speaker 1: that one of the mothers decided to stick her awer
- 36:53Speaker 1: in like that. So Gordy, while you're looking that up,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I'm going to move on to some other things that
- 36:58Speaker 1: David Air has told us in his email here. Agrees
- 37:01Speaker 1: with you, Liz that the rule about men is definitely
- 37:05Speaker 1: not made up half your age plus seven years than
- 37:08Speaker 1: a very common saying in the UK. And I've had
- 37:11Speaker 1: a lot a lot of feedback from around the world
- 37:15Speaker 1: in the past week about woolster sauce. Secondly, it is
- 37:19Speaker 1: said woolster despite the spelling Big worcestershe source because it
- 37:24Speaker 1: was originally from the town, not the shire. But I
- 37:29Speaker 1: believe what is actually correct now is both usages.
- 37:33Speaker 2: So that is a whim for all of us.
- 37:36Speaker 1: When we're all right, Gordon Ramsay says Wooster, fucking Wooster,
- 37:41Speaker 1: way he says it, But yeah, he says Worcester. A
- 37:44Speaker 1: number of other chefs say Worcestershire. And I think that
- 37:47Speaker 1: you can buy both Woolster and Worcestershire and both are
- 37:52Speaker 1: considered to be correct.
- 37:53Speaker 2: So love it when we all get a wing.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yeah, there we go. So he said, apologies for the
- 37:57Speaker 1: history lesson goes with being a teacher in the subject.
- 38:00Speaker 1: But it appears that the inventors at the source couldn't
- 38:02Speaker 1: trademark the name because of the town site had to
- 38:04Speaker 1: be sold under a more general name, which is the
- 38:08Speaker 1: district the shire.
- 38:09Speaker 2: So there we can never apologize for a history lesson.
- 38:12Speaker 2: That's what I thought.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Love falls away from ould LIGHTI so Sue's still got
- 38:16Speaker 1: a hit down.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Oh no, that means I'm no, Lizzie, You're right. Well,
- 38:20Speaker 3: I don't know, you know, like I'm on.
- 38:21Speaker 2: That's so hard to say. Can you say it again?
- 38:23Speaker 2: Please be clearer and louder for the people in the back.
- 38:27Speaker 2: No I can't. I only say thanks once. Oh you
- 38:29Speaker 2: like the fons, you can't say sorry.
- 38:31Speaker 3: I need to do I need to physically see this
- 38:34Speaker 3: because it's when the center steps in. If they're stepping
- 38:38Speaker 3: right at the front of the circle through feet, if
- 38:40Speaker 3: they're stepping right at the back of the circle, it's
- 38:43Speaker 3: from the grounded foot.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Right, you're saying it's from the grounded foot, not the Senate.
- 38:47Speaker 1: So I always thought it was from the grounded foot,
- 38:49Speaker 1: but this umpire on the weekend was saying it's from
- 38:52Speaker 1: the edge of the circle. So then it's you know,
- 38:54Speaker 1: you could be like four and a half feet away
- 38:56Speaker 1: trying to defense it six ft away because a circles
- 38:59Speaker 1: three fir crops. Okay, well they so, I reckon dribblers
- 39:04Speaker 1: will have a lot of feedback on this one for us,
- 39:07Speaker 1: a lot of opinion that they can share.
- 39:09Speaker 2: So just found the rule book.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Oh okay, but that doesn't Are you ready to share?
- 39:14Speaker 1: Or should I go on with some other things?
- 39:16Speaker 2: We go on with other stuff, go on with others, all.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Right, because I do have some exciting announcements to make
- 39:20Speaker 1: for everyone who entered the Valor competition to win the
- 39:23Speaker 1: signed dresses. We have some winners, and I reckon they're
- 39:27Speaker 1: going to be pretty pumped about this one. So the
- 39:30Speaker 1: Swift Spries pack which I took to junior netball with
- 39:33Speaker 1: me on the weekend because our winner was going to
- 39:36Speaker 1: come and find me at Central Park because her child
- 39:38Speaker 1: plays the hour before mine, and she said look for you.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Terry Ellison from Croydon, New South Wales, who also I
- 39:44Speaker 1: believe coached a team in the Murray Little Shield last week.
- 39:49Speaker 1: So yeah, a big winner over in South Australia. Someone
- 39:55Speaker 1: who's already feeling very happy, Stacey Lway from Kursborough for
- 39:59Speaker 1: South Australia congratulation. So this was by some valaboucher online
- 40:04Speaker 1: put your code word in of which team you want,
- 40:07Speaker 1: So all of these people are winning the prize that
- 40:09Speaker 1: they have hoped and wanted to win, which is absolutely fantastic.
- 40:14Speaker 1: There were a few people with problems with the code
- 40:16Speaker 1: and they had to send emails off that all of
- 40:18Speaker 1: those entries went into the pool to win, including this
- 40:22Speaker 1: one Elise Pedley from Mount Annan in New Southwest, who
- 40:26Speaker 1: is the Giants Prize pack winner. So she had to
- 40:29Speaker 1: seek help on the notable Facebook page. But she spent
- 40:32Speaker 1: two hundred and seventy bucks on Giants gear and picked
- 40:35Speaker 1: it up at ken Rosewall Arena on the day of
- 40:37Speaker 1: the very final game, which of course was the Giants win.
- 40:40Speaker 1: So why a day? Yeah, So Alise, these these are
- 40:45Speaker 1: coming your ways. So thanks everyone who entered those prizes,
- 40:48Speaker 1: and thanks to Avalor for supplying those for us. So
- 40:52Speaker 1: what are we doing, Gordia? Are we going to this?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Are we going to find a rule on this? Or
- 40:56Speaker 1: are we going to wrap this up?
- 40:57Speaker 2: Oh? Rucker, I've got a headache.
- 41:04Speaker 4: All right?
- 41:04Speaker 2: So for all books and why here doaks? That's why
- 41:09Speaker 2: I was never last?
- 41:10Speaker 1: Seems like a dribbler umpires. Can you please tell us
- 41:13Speaker 1: what the answer is in the Facebook group and we
- 41:16Speaker 1: will maybe so next week. But I think the answer
- 41:19Speaker 1: is if you're playing and the umpire has one interpretation,
- 41:22Speaker 1: doesn't matter whether you're right, and they're right on the day.
- 41:24Speaker 4: So yeah, alrighty, well that's Wednesday. We're going to sign
- 41:29Speaker 4: off now for a couple of days. We will obviously
- 41:32Speaker 4: come back on Friday with another episode which we will record.
- 41:37Speaker 4: Assumes Sue Guardian has a panegole and a glass of
- 41:39Speaker 4: wall trunk.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I think so I'm carolyn'swidell Lizzelli's obstruction.
- 41:46Speaker 3: That's Sue Guardion, You're a no dribble Bye,
