- 0:36Speaker 1: Hello, lord, Welcome to Pit Talk, brought to you by Shannons.
- 0:39Speaker 2: On this week's episode, Mark Marquez is a world champion
- 0:43Speaker 2: again after emotional scenes and his title victory at the
- 0:46Speaker 2: Japanese Motorcycle Grand Prix at the weekend, and this weekend,
- 0:49Speaker 2: Formula One returns for the Singapore Grand Prix in what
- 0:52Speaker 2: could be an important weekend for the championship picture. My
- 0:56Speaker 2: name is Michael Lomonado. It's great to have your company
- 0:58Speaker 2: and the company of my co host. He's more than
- 1:00Speaker 2: a number. It's Matt Clayton.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Michael, good to join you, good to join everyone on
- 1:04Speaker 4: this week's show. And if I'm looking unusually chipper and
- 1:07Speaker 4: brighter is because we've had Motor GP in Australian daylight
- 1:11Speaker 4: hours and a world championship decided. So good times for everyone,
- 1:14Speaker 4: good times for Mark Marquas, good times for me.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's great times, great times everyone involved.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Just look forward to the Formula One Championship being decided
- 1:20Speaker 2: in the sprint later this year, approximately two am, but
- 1:25Speaker 2: that's down the road. We can look forward to that
- 1:26Speaker 2: another time. We do want to start with Mark Markes.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Obviously we're between great weekend as well, for in the
- 1:32Speaker 2: sense that no other motors spought on full focus of
- 1:34Speaker 2: the motorsport community on a pretty remarkable occasion at the
- 1:38Speaker 2: Japanese Grandpe Matigua, a circuit important in his career, important
- 1:42Speaker 2: in title deciding history in Motor GP, perhaps none chapter
- 1:46Speaker 2: more important than this one with Mark Markes getting it done.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We could tackle this from any number of angles, but
- 1:53Speaker 2: let's talk about his response after that race, which I
- 1:56Speaker 2: thought really summed up how important it was to him
- 1:58Speaker 2: to get this one finally over.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Look, this is not being a seven time MotoGP World champion.
- 2:04Speaker 4: It's an incredible achievement in and of itself, but the
- 2:07Speaker 4: journey from him to get for him to get six
- 2:09Speaker 4: to seven. He won six titles in his first seven
- 2:12Speaker 4: years in Motor GP. He won the title as a
- 2:14Speaker 4: twenty year old rookie, the youngest world champion in history,
- 2:17Speaker 4: and the way his career was unfolding, it just looked
- 2:20Speaker 4: about how many of these is he going to get
- 2:22Speaker 4: before he decides to walk away because he's bored or
- 2:24Speaker 4: he's made enough money. And then the record scratch on
- 2:27Speaker 4: his career is the first race of twenty twenty, the
- 2:29Speaker 4: injury he had at the Spanish Grand Prix, and all
- 2:31Speaker 4: of the missteps since then, some of which have been
- 2:34Speaker 4: self inflicted, where it basically paused his career for the
- 2:37Speaker 4: best part of four years with just multiple injuries and surgeries,
- 2:41Speaker 4: and he couldn't be the writer that he needed to be.
- 2:43Speaker 4: He's changed teams twice. He's now sneakily the second oldest
- 2:47Speaker 4: rider in Motor GP, which is not something you think
- 2:49Speaker 4: about with Mark Marquez necessarily, so for him to win
- 2:53Speaker 4: this World championship, which it's been inevitable for so many rounds,
- 2:56Speaker 4: now that he was going to win this, but to
- 2:59Speaker 4: see the raw emotions of a guy who has probably
- 3:02Speaker 4: become a lot more human over this second part of
- 3:05Speaker 4: his career that perhaps he was in the first part,
- 3:07Speaker 4: to see those emotions spill out where he didn't have
- 3:09Speaker 4: to hold on to them anymore. It was amazing TV.
- 3:13Speaker 4: It was amazing to see sportsman at the peak of
- 3:15Speaker 4: his powers just be so raw and unfiltered. And I
- 3:18Speaker 4: think it showed just what it meant to him because
- 3:21Speaker 4: of the journey it had taken from twenty nineteen to
- 3:23Speaker 4: twenty twenty five, everything he had to go through, He's
- 3:27Speaker 4: now back where he was. But this is not one
- 3:29Speaker 4: of these linear progressions from six to seven.
- 3:31Speaker 2: It's interesting, isn't it, Because it does feel like any
- 3:34Speaker 2: if you didn't know the context and you were color blinded,
- 3:36Speaker 2: didn't acknowledge the bike had changed color. Yes, this would
- 3:39Speaker 2: look like almost any other Motor GP season. For Mark
- 3:41Speaker 2: Marquez's pre injury and that he seemed to essentially bloods
- 3:44Speaker 2: in the field throughout most of the season. Seven Grand
- 3:47Speaker 2: Prix wins in a row, which is his most for
- 3:49Speaker 2: many years. I thinks I've done it once before in
- 3:51Speaker 2: three or fourteen.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yeah, there he goes.
- 3:52Speaker 2: It feels a lot like almost any of those other seasons.
- 3:55Speaker 2: But it does feel like as you will over to
- 3:57Speaker 2: a different marquees this year, certainly in older marquees in
- 3:59Speaker 2: the seems to be approaching the battle. But he's definitely
- 4:03Speaker 2: gone about writing the wrong if you like, of that
- 4:05Speaker 2: injury in a way that feels very different.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Doesn't feel like simply picking up.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Relift, not at all.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I mean, it's two careers of a guy with the
- 4:12Speaker 4: same name, as far as I see it, And it
- 4:13Speaker 4: was really interesting in the immediate aftermath of Motigi. One
- 4:16Speaker 4: of the things he said that he said, I needed
- 4:19Speaker 4: to learn how to suffer, which was a really interesting
- 4:22Speaker 4: thing to say. As soon as you have won this
- 4:24Speaker 4: world championship, it's alludicic for six years. He needed to
- 4:28Speaker 4: learn what it was to go through what he went through,
- 4:31Speaker 4: to maybe appreciate what he was doing in the past
- 4:34Speaker 4: a little bit more, and to perhaps close this redemptive
- 4:38Speaker 4: arc on this story that seemed pretty unlikely for a
- 4:41Speaker 4: large chunk of the last five years. And you know,
- 4:43Speaker 4: it gets you're thinking, like, just major comebacks in any sport,
- 4:47Speaker 4: I mean motorsport. Probably the one that comes to mind
- 4:49Speaker 4: the most is Niki laud It with motorsport, But then
- 4:52Speaker 4: you look at just sport per se. You know, the
- 4:54Speaker 4: three that I keep coming back to Michael Jordan, who
- 4:56Speaker 4: chose to walk away, came back and was the best
- 4:58Speaker 4: player again after making three years out of his sport.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Monica Sellus, and we know what happened to her, her
- 5:04Speaker 4: career was stopped, and then she came back in one
- 5:06Speaker 4: Grand slams and Tiger Woods is the other one. Because
- 5:09Speaker 4: there was so long between his major successes because of
- 5:12Speaker 4: injury and personal controversy and everything else that went on.
- 5:14Speaker 4: It's a remarkable sporting story. It's not just a remarkable
- 5:18Speaker 4: Motor GP story. But I thought that the way the
- 5:22Speaker 4: sport handled such a momentous moment, the commentary, the presentation,
- 5:27Speaker 4: everything about it was you would have to have a
- 5:30Speaker 4: heart of stone to not be moved by what happened
- 5:34Speaker 4: in that Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi because of the
- 5:36Speaker 4: history that came before it, but also what it means
- 5:39Speaker 4: in terms of the sports significance moving forward. This is
- 5:42Speaker 4: one of the absolute all time greats coming up with
- 5:46Speaker 4: probably a very very unlikely championship. You don't often get
- 5:49Speaker 4: to see those two things together, and that's why it
- 5:51Speaker 4: was just such a special moment, I think.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And you were actually talking about this before the podcast,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and we're very straight into back to a conversation we're
- 5:56Speaker 2: having earlier, so we had practice for it. But we've
- 6:01Speaker 2: talked about this, and certainly the coverage talked a lot
- 6:03Speaker 2: about this being, as you said, one of the greatest
- 6:05Speaker 2: sporting comebacks of all time. Questions like that are always
- 6:08Speaker 2: going to be subjective, but certainly it's in that conversation
- 6:10Speaker 2: for everything he's gone through, everything he's dealt with. But
- 6:13Speaker 2: Marquez has always obviously been a very special talent. The
- 6:16Speaker 2: way he arrived on the scene when some of the
- 6:17Speaker 2: all time greats were still racing, the way he's come
- 6:19Speaker 2: back and dominated riders we'd assumed were the next of
- 6:23Speaker 2: their era, the next generation, he's made them all look
- 6:26Speaker 2: like they've either not arrived yet or the generation too
- 6:28Speaker 2: far gone. What makes him so good and what have
- 6:32Speaker 2: you seen him this year that's made him better than
- 6:34Speaker 2: what we've seen before.
- 6:36Speaker 4: It's interesting he came in as this absolute force of
- 6:39Speaker 4: nature as a twenty year old rookie in twenty thirteen,
- 6:42Speaker 4: and his main championship rathers were Danny Pedroza, probably the
- 6:44Speaker 4: best rider never to win a Murder GP World Championship,
- 6:47Speaker 4: Valentino Rossi, who is the goat, and Jorge Lorenzo, who
- 6:51Speaker 4: was incredible in his heyday, and he beat all three
- 6:54Speaker 4: of them to win the title as a twenty year
- 6:56Speaker 4: old rookie. That was astonishing in and of itself. But
- 6:59Speaker 4: it was what he did in those early days with Honda,
- 7:02Speaker 4: and that he would save crashes by digging his elbow
- 7:05Speaker 4: at his knees into the tarmac and somehow not falling off.
- 7:08Speaker 4: It was like a cat like he just fell on
- 7:10Speaker 4: his feet. The entire time. There was the aggression in battle,
- 7:13Speaker 4: there was the you know, he would respect his rivals,
- 7:16Speaker 4: but once the visor was down, he was as bloody
- 7:18Speaker 4: minded as they came. And you know, six titles in
- 7:21Speaker 4: the first seven years. It was clearly a means to
- 7:23Speaker 4: an end. It clearly was a way to win. He's
- 7:26Speaker 4: come back this time, older, wiser, yes, probably more rounded
- 7:31Speaker 4: in life terms.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Now.
- 7:32Speaker 4: You know, he's obviously grown up, but that knowing what
- 7:35Speaker 4: it means to suffer, I think has changed his outlook.
- 7:38Speaker 4: And it's interesting now in that he's now probably the
- 7:40Speaker 4: most cerebral rider on the motor to GP grid. He
- 7:43Speaker 4: probably rides smarter than anybody else in that he's the
- 7:47Speaker 4: he's the guy you know is going to have tire
- 7:49Speaker 4: left in the last five laps of a race where
- 7:51Speaker 4: everyone's shredding their tires because he's learned how to ride
- 7:54Speaker 4: not beyond his limits and rely on his talent to
- 7:56Speaker 4: save him like he.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Did in the past.
- 7:58Speaker 4: He now rides within his limits and then deploys that
- 8:01Speaker 4: extra bit that he has over everybody else when he
- 8:04Speaker 4: needs to now, not just because he can, and it's
- 8:08Speaker 4: the evolution of him as a writer, but also as
- 8:10Speaker 4: a person. He's become so complete you're really struggling to
- 8:15Speaker 4: pick up weaknesses now. And you think of the old Marquez.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Despite all the success, he would fall off a hell
- 8:20Speaker 4: of a lot. He would crash a lot during practice.
- 8:22Speaker 4: It was always his thing. Find the limit, go over it,
- 8:24Speaker 4: stay within it. Doesn't fall off very much anymore. He's
- 8:27Speaker 4: just become so so complete, and there's this aura about
- 8:32Speaker 4: what he's done in the past that makes him even
- 8:34Speaker 4: more formidable. And if you're going up against someone where
- 8:37Speaker 4: you're looking for the weakness, you're struggling to find one
- 8:40Speaker 4: with him. And as much as the last five years
- 8:42Speaker 4: has been held for him, I actually think it's made
- 8:43Speaker 4: him a better rider as far as his ceiling goes
- 8:47Speaker 4: over the course of his career.
- 8:48Speaker 2: All right, well, I'm going to ask you to summon
- 8:50Speaker 2: before we move on briefly to other motor GPS stories
- 8:52Speaker 2: in this extended interest address is expert, in which I'm
- 8:54Speaker 2: just going to be interested for most of the podcast
- 8:57Speaker 2: some of all of your predictive powers pre brys ball
- 9:01Speaker 2: mark marks we've talked about, and as is clear now,
- 9:03Speaker 2: the last five years of his career has been the
- 9:06Speaker 2: story of getting back to this point of overcoming injury,
- 9:08Speaker 2: accepting a lot of that was self inflicted, some of
- 9:10Speaker 2: it at least, and so on. What happens now though,
- 9:13Speaker 2: now that that box has been checked, does he just
- 9:15Speaker 2: go on now winning I guess literally for fun, beating
- 9:18Speaker 2: everybody else just because.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Of the because he can. Or is this something else
- 9:22Speaker 1: that happens.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the big question now, because I think getting
- 9:26Speaker 4: back to where he was in twenty nineteen has been
- 9:28Speaker 4: the sole focus and the driving force for him for
- 9:31Speaker 4: the past six seasons, partly because a lot of that
- 9:34Speaker 4: absence was self inflicted. You remember in twenty twenty he
- 9:37Speaker 4: tried to come back after a shoulder operation five days
- 9:40Speaker 4: for the second race of twenty twenty at Herath and
- 9:43Speaker 4: then pulled out. There were three subsequent surgeries. He did
- 9:46Speaker 4: the best part of a season and a half with
- 9:48Speaker 4: a right arm that was rotated thirty four degrees out
- 9:51Speaker 4: of place. Now, if you're listening to this, rotate your
- 9:53Speaker 4: right arm thirty four degrees out of place and try
- 9:55Speaker 4: and do anything. Pick up your coffee cup, A littlone wrestle,
- 9:59Speaker 4: a motor GP bike around one race is during that period,
- 10:02Speaker 4: by the way. But that's so grim. But it's interesting.
- 10:06Speaker 4: This has clearly driven him now for so long. So
- 10:09Speaker 4: what is there left to achieve? Is it a number?
- 10:11Speaker 4: Is it winning one or more marjor GP titles more
- 10:15Speaker 4: than Valentino Rossi? Now they both have seven? Is it
- 10:17Speaker 4: one hundred Premier class victories? He doesn't need the money.
- 10:21Speaker 4: He certainly doesn't need the adrenaline rush. You know, he's
- 10:25Speaker 4: ticked this enormous box. What fires him now? He's still
- 10:29Speaker 4: clearly young enough and good enough to do this for
- 10:30Speaker 4: as long as he wants to do. But there needs
- 10:33Speaker 4: to be an external stimulus for him. And right now
- 10:36Speaker 4: I'm not even sure he would know what that external
- 10:38Speaker 4: stimulus is because this has propelled every decision he's made
- 10:41Speaker 4: since twenty twenty, when he made the mistake of trying
- 10:43Speaker 4: to come back to early. He now needs to find
- 10:46Speaker 4: that impetus. We don't know what that is. It'll be
- 10:48Speaker 4: interesting to see him try and understand what that is
- 10:51Speaker 4: and then verbalize it as we go forward.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I almost think this is now the most interesting
- 10:55Speaker 2: part of the chapter because it's been clear that he's
- 10:56Speaker 2: had the ability. Wasn't he didn't lose an intervening time
- 11:00Speaker 2: quite a while. Now, what happens next now that goal's
- 11:02Speaker 2: been achieved? Very interesting one and a couple other stories
- 11:05Speaker 2: from the weekend before we move on. If you didn't
- 11:08Speaker 2: know anything that had happened in the last year, you
- 11:10Speaker 2: would have turned on if he just were only what'tched
- 11:12Speaker 2: last year and come back. Francesca and I had the
- 11:14Speaker 2: front dominating everybody winning, like it's easy for him.
- 11:19Speaker 1: What happened? Where's this come from?
- 11:21Speaker 4: What happened? The two words that everyone would lot the
- 11:23Speaker 4: answer to. It's funny because you know this is a
- 11:25Speaker 4: race that's in our time zone, so you can kind
- 11:27Speaker 4: of stumble across this as you're a casual sports fan.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Peco Banua won the sprint and the Grand Prix in
- 11:31Speaker 4: Japan last year. He won the sprint in the Grand
- 11:33Speaker 4: Prix in Japan this year, so I guess he's just
- 11:35Speaker 4: had a pretty smooth last twelve months. It was his
- 11:38Speaker 4: second Grand Prix win of the year and the first
- 11:41Speaker 4: one he inherited back at the Circuit of the America
- 11:43Speaker 4: Is in April, when his teammate Mark Marquez crashed out
- 11:46Speaker 4: of the lead. Peco has been completely lost for much
- 11:49Speaker 4: of this season. Ducati's GP twenty five bike doesn't give
- 11:52Speaker 4: him the feeling that he needs on the front of
- 11:55Speaker 4: the bike. Pecko's a precision instrument, right. This is the
- 11:58Speaker 4: way that he rides. Thing's perfect, and you could hold
- 12:01Speaker 4: every race in the laboratory. He wins most of the time.
- 12:04Speaker 4: He's this generation'sju Hae Lorenzo. Mark Marquez is this generation's
- 12:08Speaker 4: Casey Stoner. So Mark wi ride around the bike that's
- 12:10Speaker 4: not quite right, and if the bike's not quite right,
- 12:12Speaker 4: Pecko can't ride it. My understanding is they had a
- 12:15Speaker 4: one day post race test after Massano two weeks previously.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Where he was hopeless.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Bango finished out of the points in the sprint and
- 12:22Speaker 4: crashed from Nowhere'sville in the race.
- 12:24Speaker 3: It looks like they've.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Taken a lot of the twenty twenty four parts from
- 12:27Speaker 4: the bike he won eleven Grand Prix on last year.
- 12:29Speaker 4: It's still got the twenty five engine in it, because
- 12:31Speaker 4: that's homulligator and you can't change it. It's like a
- 12:34Speaker 4: lot of the characteristics of the body worker that twenty
- 12:36Speaker 4: four bike. They've almost created a bit of a Frankenstein's
- 12:38Speaker 4: Monster year because everything they've tried this year to this
- 12:41Speaker 4: point hasn't worked, and he's got increasingly frustrated by it.
- 12:44Speaker 4: And it was interesting his response. He was utterly nominant
- 12:47Speaker 4: at Motiki. He led every lap of the sprint, he
- 12:49Speaker 4: led every lap of the Grand Prix. No one saw
- 12:51Speaker 4: him after the first lap, and after the race he
- 12:53Speaker 4: was asked if he was happy that he was back
- 12:55Speaker 4: to he's winning ways, and he said, I'm happy, but
- 12:57Speaker 4: I'm also angry, and I think he's been beating the
- 13:01Speaker 4: drum to to Caddy, saying I can't ride what you're
- 13:03Speaker 4: giving me. I can't ride what you're giving me, and
- 13:05Speaker 4: it's almost like dec Caddie's throwing their hands up and said,
- 13:06Speaker 4: look all right, you could have bits of last year's bike,
- 13:09Speaker 4: the bits that we can give you, and whether that's
- 13:12Speaker 4: unlocked something mentally for him or physically, whatever the case,
- 13:15Speaker 4: he looked completely unbeatable over the course of the weekend.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Now caveat with this, Mark Marquez is riding thinking for
- 13:20Speaker 4: a world championship, right, So Mark was a little bit
- 13:23Speaker 4: stiff and quite nervous. Actually, it was quite weird to
- 13:25Speaker 4: see the way Mark rode over the weekend. Now that
- 13:28Speaker 4: you know there's nothing at stake as far as the
- 13:30Speaker 4: championship goes, wouldn't it be super interesting for these final
- 13:33Speaker 4: five rounds if we get evidence that a. Vanya's back
- 13:36Speaker 4: to being Van Yai and Mark can just go and
- 13:38Speaker 4: race now there's no championships to think of or anything else.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Maybe belatedly we get this really intriguing fight at the
- 13:45Speaker 4: front between these two teammates that going into the season
- 13:48Speaker 4: was the story we thought we'd see, and we just
- 13:49Speaker 4: have not seen it because Mark's been that good and
- 13:51Speaker 4: Banya has been that poor.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And finally Joge Martin's broken collarbone a pretty awful crash
- 13:58Speaker 2: in the sprint, wasn't it Yep? And uh, not great
- 14:01Speaker 2: for guys who already been into so many times. But
- 14:03Speaker 2: as I understand it, in Motorgiver. He'll be back this week.
- 14:07Speaker 4: He might even take a weekend off. He went back
- 14:10Speaker 4: to Barcelona for surgery. He broke his right columbone. Horrendous
- 14:14Speaker 4: first corner accident in motigue. It was one of those
- 14:16Speaker 4: ones you hide behind the couch to make sure everyone's okay.
- 14:19Speaker 4: His fourth major injury of surely the worst World Championship
- 14:23Speaker 4: defense of all time. He will miss Indonesia. Don't be
- 14:26Speaker 4: surprised if he's in Australia in two weeks. Motor GP
- 14:28Speaker 4: guys are a little bit different, and there's three whole
- 14:31Speaker 4: weeks between now in Philip Island and well, that's fine
- 14:33Speaker 4: for a colombone, it's an anti clockwise track, you'll be fine.
- 14:36Speaker 4: But whether he turns up for Australia and Malaysia, strong chance.
- 14:39Speaker 4: But no Indonesia this week.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I think that's for the best.
- 14:43Speaker 3: For everyone's sake.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Home, stay home, goodness sake.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Have you want more of Matt's thoughts, of course, you
- 14:48Speaker 2: can download the Pittalk podcast later in the week, the
- 14:50Speaker 2: Motor GP edition, Yes, which would be chatting at length,
- 14:53Speaker 2: undoubtedly about the significance of this title win in Japanese
- 14:56Speaker 2: Grand Prix and previewing this weekend's race in Indonesia. But
- 14:59Speaker 2: let's move on to Move of the week, brought to
- 15:00Speaker 2: you by shannons.
- 15:05Speaker 1: All Minor GP. This weekend a bit of passing.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Obviously there was passing the Palian significance commited to what
- 15:10Speaker 2: happened over the course of the weekend.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But what caught your eye.
- 15:13Speaker 4: I think that caught my eye was the significance of
- 15:15Speaker 4: a pass for what it meant in that the twenty
- 15:17Speaker 4: twenty world champion, Juan Mia passed Pedro Costa halfway through
- 15:20Speaker 4: that race to finish third. Not really the headline story
- 15:24Speaker 4: after Banyai's resurgent victory and Marquez winning a historic world championship.
- 15:29Speaker 3: For Mia, that's his.
- 15:30Speaker 4: First podium since the end of twenty twenty one and
- 15:34Speaker 4: the first HRC Factory Honda podium since two years previously,
- 15:38Speaker 4: when Marquez finished third at Motigi. Finally enough, this is
- 15:42Speaker 4: a team and an organization that just won races for fun,
- 15:45Speaker 4: particularly during the Marquees era. But you think Casey Stone
- 15:48Speaker 4: won world championships there? They had Rossi back in the day,
- 15:50Speaker 4: Danny Pedroza, who I mentioned, significant for Honda, significant for
- 15:54Speaker 4: meir becase there's been sixty eight races. This has been
- 15:57Speaker 4: on a podium, and this is a guy who won,
- 15:59Speaker 4: you know, the World Championship that Marquez didn't win because
- 16:02Speaker 4: twenty twenty when he hurt himself and he's had so
- 16:05Speaker 4: much bad luck and he's hurt himself so many times.
- 16:08Speaker 4: He's a different motor GP rider when he's on something
- 16:11Speaker 4: he can believe in.
- 16:11Speaker 3: He's all action.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Super fun to watch to see him on this historic
- 16:16Speaker 4: podium on this historic day. The move that got him
- 16:19Speaker 4: there in the fact that he sustained it. He didn't
- 16:21Speaker 4: crash for once, which is normally Joan Amir's big problem.
- 16:24Speaker 4: So the move and what it represented was the move
- 16:26Speaker 4: for me in a race that got a little bit
- 16:28Speaker 4: stale because of the other side stories going on it.
- 16:30Speaker 4: But you mentioned no supercause, no f one, so I'm
- 16:33Speaker 4: assuming you also have a motor GP move in mind.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Well that's correct.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Yes, I'm going for many reasons already talked about Banyaya
- 16:38Speaker 2: overtaking if.
- 16:39Speaker 1: You will, the track record, Oh my god, the.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Lab just because at that point in the weekend we
- 16:44Speaker 2: didn't when you're in practices on he's been fast, but
- 16:47Speaker 2: you never know him to rubber really hits the road.
- 16:48Speaker 2: In qualifying and then the race sessions, but it showed
- 16:51Speaker 2: that this weekend felt like something we haven't seen for
- 16:54Speaker 2: a long time from him, not even just talking about
- 16:57Speaker 2: the glimpses of speed with the sustainable speed, the confidence,
- 17:00Speaker 2: the way he talked about his nag got something he
- 17:01Speaker 2: can push on, that he can be confident in. This
- 17:04Speaker 2: felt like, I mean, I don't want to say it,
- 17:05Speaker 2: but it felt like a turning point.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Not just for results.
- 17:08Speaker 2: We shouldn't just expect him to come back and start
- 17:10Speaker 2: winning races whatever, but it just felt like mentally there
- 17:12Speaker 2: was a little bit of a change here that we
- 17:14Speaker 2: haven't seen that those other races where you know, it
- 17:16Speaker 2: felt like, oh maybe he'd cracked something here or there.
- 17:18Speaker 2: This felt more important than that.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yep.
- 17:20Speaker 1: And that's my overtake over the week.
- 17:22Speaker 4: No, I agree, in a lot of ways, he's sort
- 17:24Speaker 4: of overtaking his own self doubt and a lot of
- 17:26Speaker 4: respect the fact that he was.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Confident enough to put it all on the line.
- 17:30Speaker 4: To my mind, Q two Emoto GP is one of
- 17:32Speaker 4: the most fun things in motorsport because there is you've
- 17:34Speaker 4: got one lap on one tie with no fuel in
- 17:37Speaker 4: these things, and this is where these guys take every
- 17:40Speaker 4: risk imaginable and for him to obliterate the track record
- 17:44Speaker 4: and a really really hard circuit the way he did,
- 17:46Speaker 4: that's the sign that this could be the start of
- 17:48Speaker 4: something bigger.
- 17:49Speaker 2: So I think it's a good selection, yes, so anyway,
- 17:51Speaker 2: but look, I'm happy to take the weird overtake for
- 17:53Speaker 2: this one, absolutely left field overtake.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's my territory.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Let's move on now, though, to this weekend on track
- 18:01Speaker 2: action in Formula One with the Singapore Grand Prix. The
- 18:03Speaker 2: sport has left Europe when now those final flyaways, we
- 18:06Speaker 2: are in Asia. Don't look at the time of the
- 18:07Speaker 2: race though, it looks very much like we're still in Europe.
- 18:10Speaker 1: But that's okay.
- 18:10Speaker 2: This is one of the most challenging races on the calendar.
- 18:13Speaker 2: It is at night, but he under Lights is its
- 18:15Speaker 2: own challenge and if anyone's been to Singapore with that
- 18:16Speaker 2: part of the world is humidity in the heat doesn't
- 18:18Speaker 2: really go away just because the sun has gone down,
- 18:21Speaker 2: and it is a challenging street track as well. We'll
- 18:23Speaker 2: talk about the physical elements of this in just a moment,
- 18:26Speaker 2: but I want to reset the championship picture here. Oscar
- 18:28Speaker 2: Piastri still leads from Lando Norris twenty five points. It's
- 18:31Speaker 2: sixty nine points back to Maxwstaff, and that's still a lot.
- 18:34Speaker 2: We talked about the permeations on last week's podcast after
- 18:37Speaker 2: the Azerbaijian Grand Prix, but this race feels like an
- 18:40Speaker 2: important one because we're going to learn something this weekend
- 18:43Speaker 2: about the title fight, about where it is. It feels,
- 18:46Speaker 2: I don't want to necessarily say delicately poised, but it
- 18:48Speaker 2: feels like it's on a prespst. Maybe we didn't expect
- 18:51Speaker 2: there's an obvious sense of flow at the moment. If
- 18:54Speaker 2: Oscar Piastre wins, it'll be a change in form because
- 18:56Speaker 2: he's been pretty well handled by Lando norris O for
- 18:59Speaker 2: the last two years.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Ferlander Norris wins, that'll.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Probably feel important to him, getting a bit of the
- 19:04Speaker 2: momentum back in the title. If Ma's the Staff and
- 19:06Speaker 2: wins a track red Buller hasn't Red Bull Racing hasn't
- 19:09Speaker 2: won out in eleven years that he's never won at,
- 19:12Speaker 2: that's going to feel important too. I think the word
- 19:15Speaker 2: precipice is a really good one here because it feels
- 19:17Speaker 2: that there's significant ramifications for whichever of those three plot
- 19:23Speaker 2: lines you just outline there, which one of those becomes
- 19:25Speaker 2: the predominant storyline over the course of the weekend. There's
- 19:28Speaker 2: so much for all three of these guys to gain
- 19:31Speaker 2: a in and of themselves. Would be what that does
- 19:33Speaker 2: to the other two that are in this title fight.
- 19:35Speaker 2: And I use air quotes here because it might not
- 19:37Speaker 2: be an actual fight. Toe you what if for Staffen
- 19:39Speaker 2: wins this weekend, then I reckon it's absolutely going on
- 19:41Speaker 2: for the three of them. But it's a real It's
- 19:44Speaker 2: not a tipping point of a weekend because there's so
- 19:46Speaker 2: many races left to go, as you will know, and
- 19:49Speaker 2: you know, so many late knights and what have you
- 19:51Speaker 2: is do to come. But this race is it's significant
- 19:55Speaker 2: in that he's so challenging. It's it's the biggest He's
- 19:59Speaker 2: the biggest test of the Formula One season.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Let's be honest. I feel that.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Doing well here is significant at any time. But with
- 20:06Speaker 4: this really interestingly poised situation we find ourselves in which
- 20:10Speaker 4: before Monza we never would have been having this conversation. Right,
- 20:13Speaker 4: So you've had Piastre finally has a dn F, Norris
- 20:16Speaker 4: has a chance to punish Piastre and Azerbaijan and doesn't
- 20:19Speaker 4: and from kind of nowhere and Red Bulls just being
- 20:22Speaker 4: chaotic all year, and you know, Christian Horner goes and
- 20:25Speaker 4: you never would have thought it would have ended up
- 20:26Speaker 4: like this. And for Stappan's gone on one back to
- 20:28Speaker 4: about Grand Prix and it feels believable and sustainable and
- 20:31Speaker 4: we know how good he is. So the word precipice
- 20:34Speaker 4: is a really good one because it feels that whichever
- 20:37Speaker 4: one of those things comes true that you outlined before
- 20:39Speaker 4: is really significant. But what's the knock on effect for
- 20:41Speaker 4: the other two. It's super delicately poised.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, I almost feel like it's hard to
- 20:45Speaker 2: say who's got most risk here. I think for Stappin,
- 20:48Speaker 2: probably not, because no one's one hundred percent convinced he's
- 20:52Speaker 2: in this fight yet. Right he's on he's in a
- 20:54Speaker 2: position where he could pull himself into it.
- 20:56Speaker 1: But I think he's defeated here. He's off the podium,
- 20:58Speaker 1: for example.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I think just points why it's going to make it
- 21:00Speaker 2: too difficult even if he does have this great run
- 21:02Speaker 2: to the end of the year. So I don't want
- 21:03Speaker 2: to say there's too much at stake for him, because
- 21:05Speaker 2: I think even he himself probably wouldn't have believed he
- 21:08Speaker 2: could be this relatively close to the fight only a
- 21:11Speaker 2: couple of races ago.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Lando Norris.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I'm not totally convinced either, because I think that while
- 21:19Speaker 2: he could, he's not going to lose the title this weekend,
- 21:21Speaker 2: but a big blow this weekend could be significant. If
- 21:23Speaker 2: he loses ten points, let's say, that'll feel important. But
- 21:26Speaker 2: for Piastria, maybe its steak is not the way I
- 21:28Speaker 2: should have set this up. But I feel like this
- 21:29Speaker 2: is almost a more important race for him because we
- 21:32Speaker 2: had that such uncharacteristically poor weekend in Azerbaijan, and it's
- 21:36Speaker 2: something we haven't seen fro him before. So we're now
- 21:38Speaker 2: a little bit in uncharted waters except for the fact.
- 21:40Speaker 2: And you can make this likeness if you like. After
- 21:44Speaker 2: Australia is an example, the last important mistake he made,
- 21:47Speaker 2: and yes it's an asterisk on that because the weather
- 21:49Speaker 2: arrived and Norris went off as well, but he rebounded
- 21:51Speaker 2: by winning in China and being directly on a trajectory
- 21:54Speaker 2: back into the title lead. Yep, do we see the
- 21:56Speaker 2: same from him this weekend? I think that's an important question.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Yeah, And this feels to me like you know you
- 22:00Speaker 4: mentioned before, this should be much more of McLaren track
- 22:03Speaker 4: than either Monza or back who were previously. And to
- 22:08Speaker 4: my mind this is almost like an away game for
- 22:10Speaker 4: Oscar Piastre and a lot of respects despite the fact
- 22:12Speaker 4: there'll be a million Australians up there because it's so
- 22:14Speaker 4: close and the time zones very profitable for us. But
- 22:18Speaker 4: to my mind, this Norris question is not in isolation
- 22:22Speaker 4: at a track where he's been good and McLaren's been good.
- 22:24Speaker 4: It's because it comes after Bakho where he didn't punish
- 22:27Speaker 4: the true rare Piastre mistake or almost unfoseen.
- 22:31Speaker 3: You know, we've never seen.
- 22:32Speaker 4: This from Oscar before, so to my mind, the fact
- 22:34Speaker 4: that Norris didn't necessarily capitalize on that, I think it
- 22:37Speaker 4: almost puts more pressure on him this weekend to convert
- 22:40Speaker 4: to a track where he's won before it has been
- 22:42Speaker 4: good in a car that should be good. Anything less
- 22:45Speaker 4: than that, those missteps compound a little bit, and so
- 22:49Speaker 4: that's the interesting part for me, and that, Yeah, Piastre
- 22:52Speaker 4: has had his wabble. He bounced back so well in China,
- 22:54Speaker 4: as you mentioned, but because of what Norris didn't do
- 22:57Speaker 4: in Bakhu. Anything less than no going out and winning
- 23:00Speaker 4: this weekend feels like as much an opportunity loss, but
- 23:04Speaker 4: just not an advantage gained. I know that sounds I'm
- 23:07Speaker 4: sort of speaking in tongues here, but I think you
- 23:09Speaker 4: know what I mean here. There's much more Norris needs
- 23:12Speaker 4: to have the weekend perhaps he didn't have in Baku,
- 23:15Speaker 4: and then if that happens, then we will shruggsholders and
- 23:17Speaker 4: go well, of course, because this goes to the script.
- 23:19Speaker 4: But what we've seen in the past two rounds is
- 23:21Speaker 4: that nothing's going to script anymore, and so I have
- 23:24Speaker 4: much more confidence in Piastre being able to bounce back
- 23:27Speaker 4: and have a good for him in Singapore result. If
- 23:30Speaker 4: he was to finish second or third, I think that's
- 23:32Speaker 4: a perfectly par result for this year. If he was
- 23:34Speaker 4: to win Singapore, that's massive for the terms of the
- 23:37Speaker 4: championship and the inter team play within McLaren. But I'm
- 23:40Speaker 4: looking at these next two Singapore and Austin as if
- 23:43Speaker 4: Piastre can say Piastre ships ten points to Norris in
- 23:47Speaker 4: these next two races, because they strike me as both
- 23:49Speaker 4: being Norris circuits. That puts him in a really good
- 23:52Speaker 4: place for these final five after that, because I think
- 23:55Speaker 4: they're much more at circuits that will play more to
- 23:57Speaker 4: his strength. So it's not a ticking clock on Norris yet,
- 24:00Speaker 4: but we're starting to wan the ticking clock up a
- 24:01Speaker 4: little bit.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's true.
- 24:03Speaker 2: And I really like the way you put the Norris
- 24:05Speaker 2: question here because it does feel like if he didn't
- 24:08Speaker 2: take that opportunity in Azerbaijan, when will he take an opportunity?
- 24:12Speaker 2: That's the question for him. Now the points are still there,
- 24:15Speaker 2: it's achievable. He can still go out and win this
- 24:18Speaker 2: through the force of his own performances, not out of
- 24:20Speaker 2: his hands. But if he doesn't do it, if he
- 24:22Speaker 2: didn't do it in Baku, when will that happen? And
- 24:25Speaker 2: this is these two and these two next races are
- 24:27Speaker 2: a great example because they are in the brief history
- 24:30Speaker 2: of his teammate partnership with Oskopia two years. But they
- 24:33Speaker 2: have been Norris tracks. I've always been at least the
- 24:35Speaker 2: step ahead of the next two. Mexico is a little
- 24:37Speaker 2: bit more Mexico as well, but it's a bit more
- 24:39Speaker 2: random because they've had such unusual results there and it's
- 24:42Speaker 2: a weird track. But the next two is they're going
- 24:45Speaker 2: to be really indicative and this weekend, particularly considering the
- 24:48Speaker 2: challenge of this.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Track, I think we'll be worth watching.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I don't want to touch on that challenge of this
- 24:52Speaker 2: circuit as well, because it is again to revisit that
- 24:55Speaker 2: extremely physically demanding, only marginally less so since they changed
- 24:59Speaker 2: the tracks slightly temporarily, I believe to do some construction work.
- 25:02Speaker 2: There's another longish straight there now, and yes you're on
- 25:05Speaker 2: a chance to cool down, but it's still pretty punishing
- 25:08Speaker 2: and there are rookies at this venue that will never
- 25:11Speaker 2: have been to this track before because it's not a
- 25:13Speaker 2: regular on the F two or the F three calendar.
- 25:15Speaker 2: You have to have essentially been a wealthy gentleman driver
- 25:18Speaker 2: in a Ferrari to racing this track. Yes, not as
- 25:20Speaker 2: a Formula one driver, and none of them fit that feel.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Isaac Kadjau out of a Beerman, Gabrielle bought a letter
- 25:25Speaker 2: and Kimi Antonelli, all completely new to this track. This
- 25:29Speaker 2: is a track of drivers often talk about as well
- 25:31Speaker 2: as preparing for four months before the race. This is
- 25:34Speaker 2: going to be a big test for these drivers as well,
- 25:36Speaker 2: some of whom and Tonally I'm thinking of in particular,
- 25:38Speaker 2: need a little bit of momentum to continue this season.
- 25:42Speaker 4: I think we shouldn't underestimate just how brutal a challenge
- 25:44Speaker 4: in this place is. Like if you've spent any time
- 25:46Speaker 4: in Singapore going out in the day, you're exhausted three
- 25:49Speaker 4: minutes you've been outside, quite frankly. But at night, you're
- 25:52Speaker 4: racing at night in very very hot car, in fireproof
- 25:56Speaker 4: overalls and a helmet and all of the other things.
- 25:58Speaker 4: The concentration, the fact that at night you're tricking your
- 26:01Speaker 4: body to be on sort of European time zone, despite
- 26:04Speaker 4: the fact that you're eating and sleeping and doing all
- 26:06Speaker 4: sorts of things.
- 26:07Speaker 3: At very very random hours.
- 26:09Speaker 4: I don't know if you can necessarily prepare. No preparation
- 26:12Speaker 4: is enough for your first Singapore. I think getting through
- 26:14Speaker 4: your first Singapore. I remember Daniel Ricardo's first Singapore. He
- 26:17Speaker 4: thought he was ready for it. I think he lost
- 26:19Speaker 4: two and a half kilos during that race and was
- 26:22Speaker 4: absolutely shattered to the point where he was just in
- 26:24Speaker 4: the fleetal position about two days afterwards. And he thought
- 26:27Speaker 4: he was prepared at the time, and you know, subsequent
- 26:29Speaker 4: years he was clearly prepared and he had better conditioning
- 26:31Speaker 4: but until you've experienced it and you look at someone
- 26:34Speaker 4: like Antonelli, I mean, this is such a challenge. There's
- 26:38Speaker 4: nowhere growing up as a European driver you can be
- 26:41Speaker 4: permotely ready for this sort of thing and he's a kid.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I wasn't doing that when I was eighteen. Is no chairs.
- 26:47Speaker 4: But the other part about this as well is that
- 26:50Speaker 4: they don't you don't get Malaysia anymore on the calendar.
- 26:53Speaker 4: It's almost like a bit of a soft landing as well, like, well,
- 26:55Speaker 4: Singapore will be worse than this, but if you can
- 26:57Speaker 4: get through Malaysia, you can get through Singapore. We don't
- 26:59Speaker 4: have Malaysia on calend anymore. So it is such an outlier,
- 27:02Speaker 4: one of one there. There's nowhere like this place, And
- 27:05Speaker 4: it's a factor in that last into the race where
- 27:08Speaker 4: everyone's just hanging on at this point and it's hot
- 27:12Speaker 4: and you might be stuck in a DRS train somewhere.
- 27:14Speaker 4: The concentration element, it's another element to this particular race
- 27:18Speaker 4: that makes it super intriguing because it's grueling and that's
- 27:20Speaker 4: not a word we use with Formula one these days
- 27:22Speaker 4: very often.
- 27:23Speaker 2: No, because it is fundamentally it's the challenge of even
- 27:26Speaker 2: a fit athlete. An athlete too obviously, after twenty odd
- 27:30Speaker 2: races a year is pretty good at being in a
- 27:32Speaker 2: racing car and going.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Fast, but this takes it to another level.
- 27:35Speaker 2: If you want to imagine what the challenge is like
- 27:39Speaker 2: without the preparation, go back to a couple of years.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Go to the Cutar Grand Prix. There was twenty twenty
- 27:43Speaker 1: three was yes where.
- 27:45Speaker 2: If one return to that track, it was a slightly
- 27:47Speaker 2: unusual time of year compared to where we have it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: It was brutally humid, The conditions were really difficult and
- 27:52Speaker 2: it was a night race still, so there was no
- 27:54Speaker 2: sun element, no desert sun element. We had was it
- 27:57Speaker 2: a logan sergeant at the time Withdrew because he fainted
- 27:59Speaker 2: from here stroke in the car. Essentially Lance strolls pass
- 28:06Speaker 2: was Sickny's helmet, I think well.
- 28:07Speaker 4: And the other factor there was because there was some
- 28:09Speaker 4: issues with the Pirelli rubber. Remember, so there were mandatory
- 28:12Speaker 4: pit stops in that race, which meant everyone had to stop,
- 28:15Speaker 4: which meant everyone got to push flats out for three
- 28:18Speaker 4: stints in a race that was much earlier in the
- 28:20Speaker 4: year and no one was prepared for it.
- 28:22Speaker 3: It was a war zone.
- 28:23Speaker 4: After that race, they were just dropping like flies and
- 28:26Speaker 4: that was just such a one off that they've never
- 28:28Speaker 4: had the race at the same time of year again,
- 28:30Speaker 4: and they've taken hard and tire compounds. We'll never see
- 28:33Speaker 4: a repeat of that. But Singapore is this challenge annually
- 28:37Speaker 4: every single year it comes up and it's going to
- 28:39Speaker 4: bite someone. And you mentioned those rookies. As much as
- 28:42Speaker 4: other drivers will tell them and as much as they've
- 28:44Speaker 4: been preparing for months, as you've said, there's going to
- 28:46Speaker 4: be some pretty sore and sorry people by the end
- 28:49Speaker 4: of Sunday night, because unless you've done it, you don't
- 28:51Speaker 4: know what it's like.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I'd be grateful that there's a weekend off after this race.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I think absolutely everyone will be really, anyone who's been
- 28:57Speaker 2: in the car, we'll think that. Before we wrap up,
- 28:59Speaker 2: let's go to the Crystal Ball brought to you by
- 29:01Speaker 2: Compleet Home Filtration. A couple of races on this week,
- 29:06Speaker 2: not only Singapore, but the Indonesian Motorcycle Grand Prix as well.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Where are you taking it?
- 29:10Speaker 4: I think I'm going to stick with the two wheel
- 29:11Speaker 4: theme because I suspect you're going to go with a
- 29:13Speaker 4: four wheel one and I think we're going to see
- 29:16Speaker 4: our first proper head to head between Peq Marquez because
- 29:20Speaker 4: it's the earliest of World Championship has ever been decided
- 29:23Speaker 4: five races before the end of the season. So the
- 29:25Speaker 4: way I'm seeing these five races is everyone could just
- 29:28Speaker 4: put the Q in the rack, but there's too much
- 29:30Speaker 4: at stake here for someone like Banyaira and trying to
- 29:32Speaker 4: prove that Motigi wasn't a flash in the pan. Marquez
- 29:35Speaker 4: now doesn't have to think about the World Championship. To
- 29:37Speaker 4: my mind, twenty twenty six might be starting this weekend,
- 29:40Speaker 4: and that there's so much in terms of momentum and
- 29:43Speaker 4: narrative and storyline, we might get five pretty interesting races
- 29:47Speaker 4: before the end of the season. Now because of what
- 29:49Speaker 4: it means for next year, We've got a lot of
- 29:51Speaker 4: riders staying in the same positions for next year before
- 29:54Speaker 4: the twenty twenty seven rule reset, and there's going to
- 29:56Speaker 4: be people scattering everywhere. To me, this is the beginning
- 29:58Speaker 4: of the twenty twenty six pre season, and the way
- 30:01Speaker 4: these last five rounds might play out, we might get
- 30:03Speaker 4: our first Banyaya, Mark Marquez and Duel as teammates, which
- 30:07Speaker 4: it's round eighteen we haven't had one, so I think
- 30:09Speaker 4: it's not before time. I would love to see it
- 30:12Speaker 4: at a track that's pretty peculiar. It's a track where
- 30:15Speaker 4: Mark Marquez has never scored a point, not even a point,
- 30:19Speaker 4: not even a point, because he's beaten himself up with
- 30:21Speaker 4: some horrendous crash twenty twenty two. We have one of
- 30:23Speaker 4: the biggest accidents of his career there, so he's got
- 30:26Speaker 4: a score a settle with that place. But yeah, is
- 30:27Speaker 4: this Banay momentum real? I'd like to see it played
- 30:30Speaker 4: out on Sunday, But you're clearly going to be going
- 30:33Speaker 4: F one Singapore here, and I don't know whether it
- 30:35Speaker 4: involves a giant lizard crossing the track or anything else.
- 30:37Speaker 1: That's a given. That's manager that has to happen, Yes.
- 30:40Speaker 3: But I suspect it won't be wildlife. It will be
- 30:41Speaker 3: something else.
- 30:42Speaker 2: No, I'm going straight for Maxis Stafford, who arrives here,
- 30:45Speaker 2: we should say, with three wins from the last four races,
- 30:49Speaker 2: three race at Theurgreen at the weekend, just because he
- 30:52Speaker 2: had the time to go and have a.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Crack noburg Gring would be good preparation for Singapore.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Whether Yeah, yes, Well, I mean the concentration for what
- 30:58Speaker 2: is it twenty kilometer for the Nord's live some element there.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I think he's gonna win.
- 31:04Speaker 2: He's gonna win the Synapore Grand Prix the first time
- 31:06Speaker 2: in his career, which in itself is a remarkable statistic,
- 31:08Speaker 2: perhaps similar to Marks never scoring a point in Indonesia.
- 31:11Speaker 2: And I just think the consequences of that victory to
- 31:13Speaker 2: track that this car shouldn't perform well at It's the
- 31:15Speaker 2: only race Red Bull didn't win in that year. They
- 31:18Speaker 2: won every twenty twenty three couple of years ago.
- 31:21Speaker 1: As a Ferrari win. Then I don't think that's going
- 31:22Speaker 1: to happen.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Then again, the first time we don't predict the Ferrari win,
- 31:25Speaker 2: probably the weekend's gonna happen. I think it's gonna be Maax.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I think that's going to be through the title cat
- 31:29Speaker 2: amongst the pigeons.
- 31:31Speaker 1: We're gonna have a lot to talk about it.
- 31:32Speaker 4: And we've said this before that you know a lot
- 31:34Speaker 4: of people think that, you know, journos have a certain
- 31:37Speaker 4: bias towards the drivers of nationalities or whatever. We're cheering
- 31:40Speaker 4: the narrative here. I will be sharing that narrative very
- 31:43Speaker 4: very hard because in terms of what that sets up
- 31:45Speaker 4: for the remainder of the season.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Bring it on, I say, yeah, I think it's going
- 31:48Speaker 2: to be very interesting. But that's all the time. We
