- 0:18Speaker 2: Do you have Brendan Conway here from the journey home?
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yes, thank you, thank you for having me here.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Great to have you back and hear what's going on.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I know you guys have a one of your I
- 0:32Speaker 2: guess world famous bingos.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Those world famous, but I do know we've got people coming.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's play popular.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Yes, it is a thing. Yes, it is a week
- 0:45Speaker 3: from Saturday, so June the twentieth will be Bingo up
- 0:49Speaker 3: at the Fairgrounds. You can get your tickets online or
- 0:53Speaker 3: you can buy at the door. They are a little
- 0:55Speaker 3: bit extra at the door, but you can buy for
- 0:58Speaker 3: fifteen dollars online. Now just go to our Facebook page
- 1:01Speaker 3: and you can find them there. But at this Spingo
- 1:03Speaker 3: we've got a huge exciting announcement to make, so please
- 1:08Speaker 3: be there to find out about our big Bingo in September.
- 1:13Speaker 3: So Big Bingo, it'll be very exciting. So you have
- 1:18Speaker 3: to show up to bingo.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Big, pretty big too.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I expect the prises and oh yes, nobody, very few
- 1:25Speaker 2: leave empty handed.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, So we have our fifty to fifty zero
- 1:29Speaker 3: startup five o'clock and then our regular pack bingo starts
- 1:32Speaker 3: at six, and of course Cranky Planks is going to
- 1:36Speaker 3: be serving barbecue sandwiches. And we've had several sponsors to
- 1:42Speaker 3: this bingo. We've got our Vest and Truity, CNM Collision, Muscleman,
- 1:47Speaker 3: Abstract Strong Roofing and Schwagman Insurance, so we have Yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 3: we have some great sponsors this time, so happy. So
- 2:01Speaker 3: we'll have a silent auction and we'll do the fifty
- 2:04Speaker 3: to fifties. The packet will probably come up with something
- 2:07Speaker 3: to auction. So it'll be fun.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And it is a good idea to go ahead and
- 2:11Speaker 2: get your tickets. You save a little money and you
- 2:13Speaker 2: make sure you can get in. Yeah, it is a
- 2:16Speaker 2: popular event and often is pretty crowded.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Right. We had I think you're right around four hundred
- 2:21Speaker 3: when we had our January the thirty first bingo. So
- 2:23Speaker 3: it was a great turnout and it was fun and
- 2:27Speaker 3: it just you know, sometimes it's people that are just
- 2:29Speaker 3: avid bingo goers and sometimes it's families that we've touched
- 2:32Speaker 3: and that's you know, I love both. I get excited
- 2:36Speaker 3: my little group of ladies that come every time for
- 2:39Speaker 3: being go and then I've got you know, the families
- 2:41Speaker 3: that come because they've had a love one at the
- 2:43Speaker 3: house and that's you know, being able to see them
- 2:46Speaker 3: or reconnect with them is always so nice.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And well, that's another thing. I think it's world famous.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Too, and air Quest because of course, Journey Home is
- 2:56Speaker 2: one of those things until.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You need it, you may not really know that.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Much about it, right, I'd have heard about it, but
- 3:02Speaker 2: if it's touched you and your family, then I know
- 3:05Speaker 2: it's I mean, it's just always going to have a
- 3:08Speaker 2: place in your heart because of what you guys do.
- 3:10Speaker 2: So for those who don't know, explain what Journey Home
- 3:14Speaker 2: does and how it works.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Okay, So, the Journey Home is an end of life
- 3:17Speaker 3: hospice home. We care for guests in their last thirty
- 3:20Speaker 3: days of life. To be a patient at the house,
- 3:23Speaker 3: you have to have a hospice that we contract with,
- 3:25Speaker 3: we have to be within your thirty days of life,
- 3:27Speaker 3: and you have to have a do not resuscitate order.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Those are the three requirements to be able to come.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So here in Bartlesville, we have six beds. The home
- 3:36Speaker 3: has been opened. We took our first guest in twenty fourteen.
- 3:41Speaker 3: We moved into the house that we're in in twenty eighteen,
- 3:45Speaker 3: and then in January we actually opened a second location
- 3:48Speaker 3: in Sperry, Oklahoma. That's a three bed we've taken care
- 3:51Speaker 3: of I think sixty one people just since January.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So wow.
- 3:56Speaker 3: We're all under the same umbrella as the Journey Home,
- 4:00Speaker 3: but that one's called Herman House. It's just off of
- 4:02Speaker 3: Highway seventy five, and it's we've had a lot of
- 4:06Speaker 3: a lot of meaningful guests that we've gotten to take
- 4:09Speaker 3: care of there. But it's on a very beautiful ranch.
- 4:12Speaker 3: We've got a lovely family that is letting us use that.
- 4:15Speaker 3: They didn't want any part of running it, but they
- 4:17Speaker 3: wanted to use it as a ministry. And so it's
- 4:20Speaker 3: we've been beyond blessed.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:23Speaker 3: So it's it's just it's we're blessed.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Well, the whole community is because of the service you provide.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And I know it's you know, nothing anyone looks forward to,
- 4:35Speaker 2: but that that moment when you are at that end
- 4:38Speaker 2: of life point and you're you know, it's one of
- 4:40Speaker 2: those times when families are struggling with what to do
- 4:44Speaker 2: and how to how to take care of each other and.
- 4:47Speaker 1: The patient at the time.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And and you guys, really, I mean it's more than
- 4:52Speaker 2: just a room.
- 4:53Speaker 1: There's a little service.
- 4:55Speaker 2: And a kind of a network, a hug around the family.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Yes, the family truly gets to have those meaningful conversations
- 5:04Speaker 3: that need to happen it end of life. And we
- 5:06Speaker 3: take over the making sure that they're fed and reposition
- 5:10Speaker 3: and making sure that medications are given on time. And
- 5:13Speaker 3: oh my goodness, the caregiver hasn't had a shower in
- 5:15Speaker 3: a week, and they just realized it because they've been
- 5:17Speaker 3: so busy trying to take care of mom and their house.
- 5:19Speaker 3: And I had the honor of talking to a family
- 5:22Speaker 3: last night and they were actually sharing responsibility with their mom,
- 5:28Speaker 3: you know, trading her, sitting her back and forth to
- 5:30Speaker 3: one of their homes. And that's you know, you just
- 5:35Speaker 3: you don't realize how much of a struggle it is
- 5:38Speaker 3: until you're trying to Oh my goodness, I've I haven't
- 5:41Speaker 3: eaten dinner, you know, I haven't eaten anything all day
- 5:43Speaker 3: and it's five o'clock and you just don't realize what
- 5:48Speaker 3: it's going to do, the struggles that's going to cause
- 5:51Speaker 3: on the family. And that's I mean, I we when
- 5:54Speaker 3: I was taking care of my grandmother. We have a
- 5:56Speaker 3: big family, or we had a big family, and it
- 6:00Speaker 3: was nice because we all kind of took shifts, but
- 6:03Speaker 3: during those shifts, you could have those meaningful conversations with
- 6:06Speaker 3: that loved one. And that's that's exactly why I went
- 6:09Speaker 3: to nursing school. Was excuse me, I knew I wanted
- 6:12Speaker 3: to be a hospice nurse just from that experience with
- 6:14Speaker 3: my grandmother. So it is it is truly a calling
- 6:18Speaker 3: for what I've done. I've been the executive director last
- 6:20Speaker 3: month with ten years.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Ten years. Thank you.
- 6:26Speaker 3: I am yeah, I'm yes, there's there's a couple of
- 6:32Speaker 3: gray hairs up in here that but it's I mean,
- 6:36Speaker 3: it's exactly where I'm supposed to be. It truly, I mean,
- 6:38Speaker 3: I can I can put myself in the shoes that
- 6:42Speaker 3: people are walking in. You know, my mom was actually
- 6:44Speaker 3: in the old house in twenty seventeen, so I have
- 6:47Speaker 3: been at recipient and I have also given care. So
- 6:51Speaker 3: it's it is such a blessing that we have this.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I get calls a lot saying where's the Journey home
- 6:57Speaker 3: in Idaho, And you're just like, that's you know, it's
- 7:02Speaker 3: it's not everywhere. We just actually got back last week
- 7:04Speaker 3: from Santa Fe, New Mexico. There's a conference group that
- 7:08Speaker 3: comes together every year part of the Omega Home Network
- 7:11Speaker 3: and you can get on their website and see all
- 7:13Speaker 3: the houses and there's not many, but we come together
- 7:17Speaker 3: and kind of it just feeds your soul. You're just like,
- 7:19Speaker 3: it's like minded people. Every house has ran a little different.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Some homes charge for what they do. We of course
- 7:24Speaker 3: do not. We never ask for a penny. And so
- 7:28Speaker 3: that's why donations are so big to us, because our
- 7:30Speaker 3: home is both of our homes are completely ran off
- 7:33Speaker 3: of donations.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And that's one reason why the being goes so important.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Fundraiser, Yes, it is a big fundraiser, and that's you know,
- 7:41Speaker 3: that's just a drop in the bucket of how much
- 7:44Speaker 3: money we need to operate our home. It's it's definitely
- 7:47Speaker 3: not free. It's it cost a lot of money to
- 7:49Speaker 3: operate that house. That was that house was built in
- 7:52Speaker 3: nineteen thirteen, so it's it's definitely.
- 7:56Speaker 1: A it's a beautiful place too.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fun because yeah, since you.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Guys moved out to the to the place where you
- 8:04Speaker 2: are now. It's on Highway seventy five, just to the
- 8:07Speaker 2: east between Bartlesville and Dewey.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Everyone's like, I always wanted to be in this house.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I'm sorry you're here now, but look around it. It's great.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So yeah, I was built in nineteen thirteen, and then
- 8:18Speaker 3: the Kaiser's made an addition in the eighties, and then
- 8:20Speaker 3: we revamped that in eighteen and we're able to become
- 8:25Speaker 3: a six bed so it's been perfect.
- 8:28Speaker 1: That's great.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And of course the bingo is a week from Saturday,
- 8:33Speaker 2: and then you've got a big one coming up in
- 8:35Speaker 2: September and any other events or plans.
- 8:39Speaker 3: So what is no, we're just you know, just kind
- 8:43Speaker 3: of getting through, you know. We staffing is always, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 3: always a thing trying to juggle. You know. We took
- 8:53Speaker 3: some caregivers from the Journey Home and moved to this
- 8:56Speaker 3: very location. So it's you know, if you ever know
- 9:00Speaker 3: anybody looking for volunteer opportunities, we.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Would love to think what kind of things do volunteers do.
- 9:06Speaker 3: We definitely need help in our gardening. If you drive
- 9:10Speaker 3: by and notice how beautiful it is, it's not by accident.
- 9:13Speaker 3: We have a couple of garden ladies that have been
- 9:15Speaker 3: with us since COVID. They come and they just make
- 9:18Speaker 3: sure that we're all freshened up. But they're they're there
- 9:22Speaker 3: seven days a week, and so they're looking for a
- 9:25Speaker 3: little bit of help with you know, just coming up
- 9:27Speaker 3: watering once a day, just kind of getting into that routine.
- 9:30Speaker 3: There's also volunteers the answer the door, and that's that's important.
- 9:35Speaker 3: They help with laundry and dishes and answering the door
- 9:38Speaker 3: and greeting guests and so it's volunteers are critical to
- 9:42Speaker 3: what we do because when you've got two carriers in
- 9:46Speaker 3: the back and you know, yesterday it was a crazy day.
- 9:48Speaker 3: We had a full house, lots going on, and our
- 9:51Speaker 3: villain volunteer wasn't available. So it's just I mean, it
- 9:55Speaker 3: puts a burden on everyone to be able to answer
- 9:58Speaker 3: the door and and get them to where they need
- 10:00Speaker 3: to go. So volunteer opportunities we you know, we're always
- 10:04Speaker 3: looking for caregivers. That is a paid position, of course,
- 10:08Speaker 3: so anybody interested in something like that, have them come
- 10:11Speaker 3: by and meet with me and we would love to interview.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And you mentioned you have a nursing background. Do you
- 10:19Speaker 2: need to have that to be a caregiver or.
- 10:21Speaker 3: No, No, we hire lay people. As long as your
- 10:25Speaker 3: passionate about the mission, we're happy to train you. I
- 10:29Speaker 3: am the nurse that's on call for both buildings. But
- 10:32Speaker 3: we also have hospice. Every guest that's there has their
- 10:35Speaker 3: hospice that we can reach out to, so they're always
- 10:38Speaker 3: in our back pocket if we need if we need
- 10:40Speaker 3: assistance with the guest for any you know, they've got
- 10:43Speaker 3: their medical director and things like that. So it's a
- 10:45Speaker 3: great system.
- 10:46Speaker 1: It's a great program.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It's one of those things, like so many in Bartlesville
- 10:52Speaker 2: that are just these one also passion of someone and
- 10:55Speaker 2: a need that's filled by an organization and a bigger
- 10:59Speaker 2: group and it grows and now it's expanded to Sperry.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I mean, it's a neat story about our community that
- 11:07Speaker 2: were there's so many organizations like this.
- 11:10Speaker 3: We are blessed because of Doug Quinn. There's nothing more
- 11:13Speaker 3: than I can say. I mean, he saw the gap
- 11:16Speaker 3: and care He and Jody Shorter really were passionate about
- 11:20Speaker 3: it because it was you know, they they couldn't you know,
- 11:24Speaker 3: they were going to pass too quickly to go to
- 11:26Speaker 3: a nursing home. But the family was unable to take
- 11:29Speaker 3: care of them. And that's just it. I mean a
- 11:30Speaker 3: lot of times children don't live around here, you know,
- 11:34Speaker 3: they moved away, and so you've got somebody in their
- 11:36Speaker 3: eighties trying to take care of their loved ones.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Really rare that everybody's around, So that puts the burden
- 11:41Speaker 2: on the people who are here and if there's no one.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Here, right, So we are I mean, we are so
- 11:47Speaker 3: blessed that that was a vision that they had and
- 11:50Speaker 3: by then Claire House in Tulsa was open, so they
- 11:52Speaker 3: were We've easily been able to kind of repeat their model.
- 11:57Speaker 3: We're not affiliated with them, but we call them our
- 11:59Speaker 3: big sister, so they always you know, I can pick
- 12:01Speaker 3: up the phone and call them and say, how do
- 12:03Speaker 3: you handle this? So what's going on with that? But
- 12:05Speaker 3: it's we are you know. Doug Quinn is the reason
- 12:09Speaker 3: that we are here, and that's he is. He has
- 12:12Speaker 3: just got to visit with him yesterday. He's one of
- 12:14Speaker 3: the best people you'd ever want to meet.
- 12:16Speaker 1: As a rotary friend of mine.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yes, yes, he is. I just can't say it enough
- 12:22Speaker 3: because he had the passion in the drive. He was
- 12:24Speaker 3: a hospice volunteer back then, and he could see what
- 12:28Speaker 3: type of a burden it is for the families because
- 12:31Speaker 3: it is you. You know, how do you go to
- 12:33Speaker 3: the grocery store? Now we've got Walmart delivery, but you know,
- 12:36Speaker 3: back twelve years ago when we opened, we didn't have
- 12:38Speaker 3: You didn't have Walmart delivery. You had to go to
- 12:40Speaker 3: the store. You had to do your shopping. How do
- 12:42Speaker 3: you how do you take a shower when you're when
- 12:44Speaker 3: you're loved one is having terminal agitation, all those things
- 12:48Speaker 3: that happen. It's just it's it's hard and you don't
- 12:52Speaker 3: realize it until you get in there and realize how
- 12:55Speaker 3: exhausted you.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Are and dungeus Toyota.
- 12:58Speaker 2: We do our Anniverse Tree event every December, and one
- 13:02Speaker 2: year are our customers selected. Journey Home is got the
- 13:07Speaker 2: most vote, so to speak, and votes add up to
- 13:11Speaker 2: donations and that we make a donation in the name
- 13:14Speaker 2: of For every car we sell during December, we make
- 13:17Speaker 2: a donation to the charity selected by the customer, and
- 13:22Speaker 2: the one who gets the most votes gets a big
- 13:26Speaker 2: donation from us on top of the donations, and that
- 13:30Speaker 2: it's matched by Toyota. And I'm really proud of the
- 13:34Speaker 2: of the the way that works.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And that it selected that year and Toyota is doing
- 13:42Speaker 1: that again this.
- 13:45Speaker 3: We're very we should be very happy that we have
- 13:47Speaker 3: a Toyota dealership. I mean, in in Bartlesville, I had
- 13:52Speaker 3: a friend that told me one time I was debating
- 13:54Speaker 3: about buying an off brand.
- 13:58Speaker 1: There's a good way to put that.
- 14:00Speaker 3: There's not a dealership in the town. And she said,
- 14:03Speaker 3: just remember, when you get serviced, you have to go
- 14:05Speaker 3: to Tulsa. And I was like, oh, that's fine, I'm
- 14:08Speaker 3: in Tulsa enough. It's it is im burtant. I mean,
- 14:11Speaker 3: it is so nice to be able to say we're
- 14:14Speaker 3: going to drop off my car for this, you know,
- 14:16Speaker 3: will change. Somebody's going to pick me up and we'll
- 14:18Speaker 3: pick it up when I get off work.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I mean that it is important.
- 14:22Speaker 2: You know, a lot of places don't have Toyota dealerships.
- 14:25Speaker 2: There's only thirteen in the state of Oklahoma.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Wow.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And the reality is we're the oldest and in some
- 14:33Speaker 2: ways kind of unique. We're among the smallest, probably the
- 14:37Speaker 2: smallest in the state, and you know, and we only
- 14:40Speaker 2: we don't have we're not a big corporation, we don't
- 14:43Speaker 2: have other dealerships. We're just focused on this community and
- 14:46Speaker 2: our customers. Here kind of heartening back to the car
- 14:51Speaker 2: business as it was one.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Hundred years ago.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Why they come back to you.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And well, it's it is h you know, in this world,
- 14:57Speaker 2: it's always changing, and you know, and you know, I
- 15:01Speaker 2: think last year I did a bunch of research for
- 15:04Speaker 2: a rotary presentation, and in the fifties there were something
- 15:07Speaker 2: like fifty thousand car dealers in America and fifty thousand dealerships,
- 15:12Speaker 2: so about one to one. And last year there were
- 15:16Speaker 2: about sixteen thousand dealerships, so it's gone down. I've only
- 15:21Speaker 2: six thousand owners, and many of the largest owned hundreds
- 15:26Speaker 2: of dealerships, and they sell, you know, they probably sell
- 15:31Speaker 2: forty or fifty percent of the new cars sold in
- 15:34Speaker 2: America are sold by the top hundred dealers.
- 15:38Speaker 1: So it's a you know, just like the rest of
- 15:40Speaker 1: the world, you know, we're evolving.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Everyone wants to be have great service, to be treated right,
- 15:47Speaker 2: and have convenience and all that, and in some ways
- 15:51Speaker 2: large corporations can do that. You mentioned Walmart delivery, right,
- 15:56Speaker 2: I mean that's an old mom in Bob grocery store
- 15:59Speaker 2: have to do that.
- 16:01Speaker 1: But there's some value in the.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Family business, you know, were are and I have my
- 16:05Speaker 2: son works for me. He will hopefully someday be the
- 16:09Speaker 2: fourth generation uh to be running the dealership. And it's
- 16:14Speaker 2: one of those things that you know, we're passionate about.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I think makes Bartles feel unique that we still have
- 16:20Speaker 2: a dealer like that. And and you know most of
- 16:23Speaker 2: the others are larger, have you know, locations all over
- 16:28Speaker 2: the place, and and that's fine too.
- 16:31Speaker 3: There makes them where go around.
- 16:35Speaker 2: It's just there's a place for that personal service and treatment.
- 16:39Speaker 2: And my office is on the showroom. I love being
- 16:43Speaker 2: hands on and running the business and and uh, you know,
- 16:46Speaker 2: being able to hear the interactions between my sales team
- 16:50Speaker 2: and the customers and so that I can because we're
- 16:53Speaker 2: nourishing that relationship we have and you know, we're we're
- 16:58Speaker 2: proud to be a noncommission sales environment. None of our
- 17:02Speaker 2: salespeople or managers are paid on commission.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So what we what we make is important.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Obviously we have to make a profit, but the truth
- 17:11Speaker 2: is I don't want them thinking about that when they're
- 17:14Speaker 2: selling somebody a car, I want them to think about
- 17:16Speaker 2: the customer and what their needs are. And we don't
- 17:20Speaker 2: have a documentation fee or any kind of We don't
- 17:24Speaker 2: do dealer add ons, you know, and I still see
- 17:27Speaker 2: you know, well, the world is you know, thankfully the
- 17:32Speaker 2: Federal Trade Commission, Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission or become pretty
- 17:37Speaker 2: regressive really in recent years in enforcing the rules about
- 17:44Speaker 2: pricing and so you know, dealers need to put up
- 17:48Speaker 2: front the actual price you're going to pay on the
- 17:52Speaker 2: vehicle in their ads, and for a long time that
- 17:55Speaker 2: wasn't the case.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And you you know, the lot of.
- 17:57Speaker 2: The fees and things they add weren't transparent. But we
- 18:01Speaker 2: don't play any of those games. We're very you know,
- 18:04Speaker 2: the math is real math on your payment. You can
- 18:07Speaker 2: go online to our website and use the same tools
- 18:10Speaker 2: we use to calculate your payment term, interstate, your trade value,
- 18:16Speaker 2: all those things that may build a car payment. Most
- 18:19Speaker 2: people are going to finance their car. Most people, let's
- 18:22Speaker 2: face that, they don't trust car dealers. I mean, that's
- 18:25Speaker 2: been that, that's kind of the truth. And we try
- 18:28Speaker 2: to look you in the eye and tell you the truth.
- 18:31Speaker 2: And be the one you can trust to trust. My
- 18:34Speaker 2: uncle Bob used to say trust is the coin of
- 18:37Speaker 2: the realm. And I will always remember that and take
- 18:41Speaker 2: you to heart and how we treat we work with
- 18:45Speaker 2: our other employees and then with our cousins.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And you guys know that at journey home, because you.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Mean, that magic of what you do when you provide
- 18:58Speaker 2: that service to someone in that moment when they're at
- 19:01Speaker 2: their you know, it could be I mean, it is
- 19:05Speaker 2: ever something you want to go through. But a lot
- 19:07Speaker 2: of times at the end of life, whether you.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Know you're young or old, you know, you just need
- 19:12Speaker 1: that support.
- 19:13Speaker 2: And you know, and before journey home, you know, you
- 19:17Speaker 2: know sometimes neighbors would come together, the community around you
- 19:22Speaker 2: kind of supported that. But this gives you professional support,
- 19:27Speaker 2: gives you that that assurance that.
- 19:30Speaker 3: That everyone's so busy now, I mean that's it was
- 19:32Speaker 3: a different time back then when your neighbors would help
- 19:34Speaker 3: and bring meals and it's just a difference. I mean,
- 19:37Speaker 3: everyone's busy, everyone's running around, and you know, there's just
- 19:43Speaker 3: there's so many stressors in the world right now that
- 19:46Speaker 3: you know, us being there is just another added piece
- 19:49Speaker 3: to to help.
- 19:51Speaker 2: And take the impact is I mean, I don't think
- 19:53Speaker 2: people realize probably how many people, what percentage of the
- 19:59Speaker 2: people that as away in our community go through the
- 20:02Speaker 2: journey home. I tried to calculate that a few years ago.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I was amazed it was something like eighty percent or something.
- 20:11Speaker 2: I don't I mean, is that still the case probably?
- 20:15Speaker 2: I don't know how many people typically in.
- 20:18Speaker 3: A year go through your two Well, we haven't done
- 20:23Speaker 3: any you know, we didn't have twenty five with the
- 20:26Speaker 3: Herman House, but I know it's awful, But I think
- 20:31Speaker 3: twenty twenty five, I think we had two hundred and
- 20:33Speaker 3: fifty nine guests, So that's the entire year. So we've
- 20:39Speaker 3: never at tracked. It's hard to yes versus.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I was playing around on Google, I think searching trying
- 20:47Speaker 2: to get get the search engines to tell me. But
- 20:52Speaker 2: it is just over two hundred and fifty people, you know,
- 20:57Speaker 2: it's end of life and the community around then that's
- 21:00Speaker 2: an incredible impact. And what's the best way if people
- 21:05Speaker 2: are just hearing about this or inspired to help, whether
- 21:08Speaker 2: through volunteering or to make a donation or more information
- 21:12Speaker 2: about BINGO stuff like that, other events that come around,
- 21:16Speaker 2: what's the best way for them to.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Find out what's going on and how to help and
- 21:20Speaker 1: what you're perfect.
- 21:22Speaker 3: I say always like the Journey Homes page on Facebook
- 21:25Speaker 3: were we are pretty active on Facebook talking about our
- 21:28Speaker 3: needs list. We'll put that out. The other day we
- 21:30Speaker 3: were in need of bottle of water and I walk
- 21:33Speaker 3: downstairs and there's five cases of bottled water sitting there.
- 21:35Speaker 3: But we go through it crazy fast, So thank you.
- 21:39Speaker 3: So like us on Facebook. You can also call the
- 21:41Speaker 3: house at any time. Nine eight seven six four one
- 21:45Speaker 3: eight four is our phone number. You can do that
- 21:48Speaker 3: about bingo, or you can there's a link that we
- 21:51Speaker 3: share on Bingo on the Facebook page, so you can
- 21:55Speaker 3: click on that and purchase tickets that way. If they've
- 21:57Speaker 3: got questions about Bingo, you know, don't hesitate, call the
- 22:00Speaker 3: house well should be able to answer those questions. And
- 22:03Speaker 3: then it is at the fair grounds. Doors open at four,
- 22:08Speaker 3: So when you're reserving your packet online, that's for the
- 22:11Speaker 3: six o'clock but if you come at five o'clock, that's
- 22:14Speaker 3: for the fifty to fifties. And so you pay a
- 22:16Speaker 3: dollar to play. Whoever wins that wins half the pot
- 22:20Speaker 3: and the other pot go or the other half goes
- 22:22Speaker 3: to the Journey Home. So it's a fun little chance
- 22:26Speaker 3: to ruin a little bit of money, yes, yes, yes,
- 22:29Speaker 3: and then our blackout we do a three hundred dollars
- 22:31Speaker 3: cash gift for a blackout awesome. So it's a fun night.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And yet the dinner is available.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Yes, Cranky Planks is sponsoring our dinner, so we're very
- 22:42Speaker 3: grateful to them. So they'll be barbecue sandwiches for sale,
- 22:47Speaker 3: chips and we always have fantastic desserts. So there's always
- 22:51Speaker 3: great desserts and sodas and water and we'll be ready
- 22:55Speaker 3: for you.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Awesome, We'll go everybody, go support Journey Home, get a
- 22:59Speaker 2: chance to wins some prizes and money.
- 23:02Speaker 1: You've got the silent auction going on. Thank you. It
- 23:06Speaker 1: is a great event. And I know that you'll have a.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Large crowd again, I mean the fulfill that room at
- 23:11Speaker 2: the fairground.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Yes, I sure hope.
- 23:14Speaker 2: So yeah, well it's great to have you in again,
- 23:18Speaker 2: and I, like I said, we're looking forward to another
- 23:21Speaker 2: anniversary event this December, and know that our customers will
- 23:26Speaker 2: select Journey Home several times.
- 23:29Speaker 3: That would be great.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Well, if there's ever anything we can do to help, obviously,
- 23:33Speaker 2: reach out to us. And I'm glad to have you
- 23:35Speaker 2: on again and remind the community about your impact and
- 23:38Speaker 2: what you do for our community because it is so valuable.
- 23:43Speaker 3: This is very meaningful to be able to be here
- 23:45Speaker 3: and just remind people because that's you know, sometimes it
- 23:49Speaker 3: just you know, you drive by and don't think about
- 23:50Speaker 3: the families. You know, we say pray for the families.
- 23:53Speaker 3: A lot of people tell me I drive by and
- 23:54Speaker 3: every time I go, buy a pray for hearers in
- 23:56Speaker 3: that house, and I just it's fantastic.
- 23:59Speaker 2: No, it is, and it is one of those blessings
- 24:02Speaker 2: on our community and all the.
- 24:04Speaker 1: People here, Thank you, thank you.
- 24:07Speaker 2: And we'll be uh, you know, watching out for storms
- 24:10Speaker 2: this afternoon. I think the latest is maybe a chance
- 24:14Speaker 2: of of storms. Hell, I will not hope tell you that,
- 24:19Speaker 2: you know avoids Bartlestelle.
- 24:21Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 24:22Speaker 2: We'll be getting preparing for the hail dance if we
- 24:25Speaker 2: have if we have to, if we have to.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I saw a couple of cars that had the hail covers.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I think I've never seen those in real life, but
- 24:32Speaker 3: I saw two of them and I was like, oh,
- 24:34Speaker 3: I guess I need to check on the weather.
- 24:36Speaker 2: There is a there is a chance of hail this
- 24:38Speaker 2: afternoon as a call front comes through or we're not cold?
- 24:41Speaker 1: Is the number this time? Slightly slight.
- 24:46Speaker 2: And uh more rain this weekend. We've certainly had a
- 24:50Speaker 2: lot of rain lately. It's very green and beautiful around here.
- 24:53Speaker 1: But that's.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Summer is coming and we're ready at the dealership. We've
- 24:59Speaker 2: got a great selection of new Toyotas. Got a little bit.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Imbalanced right now, as we had.
