- 0:01Speaker 1: An award winning family owned business with exceptional diamonds, engagement rings, jewelry,
- 0:06Speaker 1: and time pieces. Continental Diamond is the jeweler Minnesota adores
- 0:11Speaker 1: in Saint Louis Park or online at Continentaldiamond dot com.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hey guys, another great episode this week. It's Packer Week
- 0:19Speaker 1: and we got diehard Packer fan Pete Lee to come
- 0:23Speaker 1: on and talk about his life as a Packers fan.
- 0:28Speaker 1: He's been on The Tonight Show seven times, He's got
- 0:32Speaker 1: an insane amount of credits. He's been all over the map.
- 0:35Speaker 1: His latest special is on Showtime. He's the absolute best.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I think you guys are gonna love it, enjoy the show.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I don't know what Tom is here.
- 0:46Speaker 2: We gotta go there, We gotta go the gontill Tom.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. It is Packer Week we're coming off
- 0:59Speaker 1: of I don't I get real emotional around big wins,
- 1:04Speaker 1: so I don't want to say the biggest. I'll use
- 1:07Speaker 1: too many descriptors here, but we're riding high as fans.
- 1:11Speaker 1: We're coming in to a matchup against our biggest rival,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and I get to see one of my oldest friends
- 1:17Speaker 1: in comedy from the same club as myself. I'm from
- 1:21Speaker 1: your club. However you want to describe it. It doesn't matter.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm terrible at intros ladies and gentlemen. Pete Lee, Hello, a.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Hey, Oh my god, it's so good to be here.
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's so good to be here. I remember when you
- 1:34Speaker 2: first went up at Acme Comedy Club and I got
- 1:37Speaker 2: to see how funny you were, and you're all tall
- 1:39Speaker 2: and good looking and confident, and I think my first
- 1:43Speaker 2: sentence that I uttered about you was like, God, I
- 1:45Speaker 2: hate this guy. And then like I met you in
- 1:47Speaker 2: the bar right and I didn't hate you for any
- 1:49Speaker 2: reason other than like envy, you know, because like nobody's
- 1:52Speaker 2: that good that first their first time. And then like
- 1:54Speaker 2: you were tall and good looking and super confident, and
- 1:57Speaker 2: then you and I hung out in the bar afterwards.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is awesome. And I think
- 2:01Speaker 2: I was doing a show there and you were one
- 2:02Speaker 2: of the openers. And then I was like, like, all
- 2:05Speaker 2: week long, I watched like every set that you did,
- 2:07Speaker 2: and I was like, this guy is brilliant.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Here's the thing, Pete, that's the nicest thing anybody said
- 2:13Speaker 1: on this show to me, ever, And I'm not gonna
- 2:16Speaker 1: have it, okay, don't you it's Packer week, don't you.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I understand what you're doing. You're the sweetest man alive,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and I know you mean those things, but you you're
- 2:26Speaker 1: saying them because you're recording this podcast in your car,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and you don't want me to mention it. First of all,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you look great, you sound great. You are recording in
- 2:36Speaker 1: your car, which feels like the if I had to
- 2:38Speaker 1: pick a place that a Packer fan would record a
- 2:42Speaker 1: podcast from, it would be a vehicle. But in in
- 2:44Speaker 1: true contradictory fashion, it is an electric vehicle. So it's
- 2:48Speaker 1: a real packer conundrum here.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's a real packer conundrum. I will say,
- 2:56Speaker 2: I am so. My wife is doing a zoom call
- 2:59Speaker 2: right now. Sure, and like many of us, you know,
- 3:03Speaker 2: like when they're on the call in the office that's
- 3:06Speaker 2: in the living room, you're basically like, I feel like
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm one of her co workers. I actually feel like
- 3:12Speaker 2: I'm a janitor at her work, because like last week,
- 3:15Speaker 2: this lady quit and she my wife was talking to
- 3:17Speaker 2: her boss and they're like, man, we just didn't see
- 3:19Speaker 2: Pamela quitting. I'm like, I'm like, I saw it coming.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm just mopping in the background. I'm totally the janitor
- 3:28Speaker 2: at her tech firm.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I feel that way all the time. I especially when
- 3:32Speaker 1: there's conflict at my wife's work. I like start pacing
- 3:35Speaker 1: by the door, like trying to whisper things that I
- 3:38Speaker 1: think she should say in response. I'm the worst. It's
- 3:42Speaker 1: that's the problem with being a comedian is you are
- 3:45Speaker 1: in the home, and if the other person works in
- 3:48Speaker 1: the home, well, guess what you got the worst cubicle
- 3:51Speaker 1: mate of all time?
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, because I mean, like I used to work in
- 3:55Speaker 2: advertising when I lived in Minneapolis, and like like I
- 3:58Speaker 2: always had that guy that like had less to you
- 4:00Speaker 2: than I did, you know, Like like I was in
- 4:03Speaker 2: the Internet department, which was booming, and then there was
- 4:05Speaker 2: this guy in accounting that would just come down to
- 4:08Speaker 2: my cubicle and he had all day to talk and
- 4:10Speaker 2: I just had no time to talk. And now I'm
- 4:13Speaker 2: him in our house because I have all day. I'm
- 4:16Speaker 2: a comedian. I'm video editing when I want to, and
- 4:20Speaker 2: like I'm I do video editing, and I also hired
- 4:22Speaker 2: an editor, so like my wife knows that I have
- 4:25Speaker 2: nothing to do, and like, if I am going to
- 4:27Speaker 2: do any editing, it's by my choice. So like I'm
- 4:30Speaker 2: always popping in, like, hey, you want to take a break,
- 4:34Speaker 2: you want to go down to the coffee shop and
- 4:35Speaker 2: grab a donut? You know, Like she's she's doing that
- 4:39Speaker 2: right now in the house because she's the man of
- 4:43Speaker 2: the house and I'm relegated to the car well.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And let's not sell yourself short here, Pete. You're not
- 4:48Speaker 1: just an editor that had to hire another editor. You're
- 4:52Speaker 1: also the owner of a sports franchise. Because your fan
- 4:56Speaker 1: base is filled with people who have a piece of
- 4:59Speaker 1: paper that told them they own their franchise. Congratulations on
- 5:03Speaker 1: your ownership.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Oh thank you.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 2: The ownership was given to me by probably the worst
- 5:09Speaker 2: girlfriend that I ever have had in my life. And
- 5:13Speaker 2: I remember when I got that Christmas present from her.
- 5:18Speaker 2: When I got that Christmas present from her, I was like,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I was like, I think this is gonna be the
- 5:22Speaker 2: best thing to come out of this miserable relationship. Like
- 5:26Speaker 2: she wound up cheating on me with a TGI Friday's
- 5:29Speaker 2: bus boy. But you know what, I'm a Packers owner
- 5:33Speaker 2: because she got me that for Christmas.
- 5:36Speaker 1: The problem with I think a lot of Viking fans
- 5:38Speaker 1: love to make fun of the ownership thing. They love
- 5:41Speaker 1: to poke at it. And I do think that makes
- 5:43Speaker 1: sense because you guys have a worthless piece of paper.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But at the same time, I think there's an envy
- 5:51Speaker 1: from other fan bases because if you're honest, you go,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I would absolutely do that if that was my team,
- 5:58Speaker 1: I would one hundred percent that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I know that it's worthless. But I will say this
- 6:03Speaker 2: about Packers fans. I know dozens of people that do
- 6:08Speaker 2: not know that that piece of paper is worthless. They're
- 6:10Speaker 2: they're like, we go around owners meeting every single year
- 6:14Speaker 2: because they do that.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm here to tell Mark Murphy what I think and
- 6:18Speaker 1: that's my right as someone who owns stock in this company.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and like they let us take a vote. Like
- 6:26Speaker 2: the last time that I went, we we voted to
- 6:29Speaker 2: let Brett Favre back on the team officially so we
- 6:33Speaker 2: could put him in the Hall of Fame. And there
- 6:35Speaker 2: were people at that meeting that were like, all right, well,
- 6:37Speaker 2: let's see, let's see how this vote goes. And I'm like,
- 6:40Speaker 2: how do you think it's gonna go? Man, Like, like
- 6:43Speaker 2: Brett Farve is, Brett Favre is here, like he should.
- 6:46Speaker 2: He flew in on a private plane. There we're gonna
- 6:50Speaker 2: vote him in.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Can you imagine Brett Favre getting on a plane flying
- 6:55Speaker 1: to Green Bay under the guys Like, that's got to
- 6:58Speaker 1: be the most rigged of all time. He's not getting
- 7:02Speaker 1: on that plane unless Mark Murphy's like, listen here, Brett,
- 7:05Speaker 1: it could be ten thousand to zero. Nay, we're gonna
- 7:08Speaker 1: flip it. You don't worry. We got you. There's no
- 7:12Speaker 1: way that goes the other way.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, And when they were like like do you vote,
- 7:16Speaker 2: you know, like all a posed, you know, like and
- 7:19Speaker 2: then a few people were like and then they're like
- 7:21Speaker 2: all four and Brett fav literally like like stuck up
- 7:24Speaker 2: his hands like he was like he was accepting the
- 7:27Speaker 2: ovation that he was getting. And it was like it
- 7:30Speaker 2: just was so rigged. But yeah, every year they have
- 7:36Speaker 2: some sort of a vote where it's like should we
- 7:38Speaker 2: have caramel corn at the concession stands? And then we
- 7:42Speaker 2: get to take a vote, and it's like our vote
- 7:45Speaker 2: really matters. It's so funny.
- 7:48Speaker 1: That is so stupid. It's crazy, and I'm so jealous,
- 7:51Speaker 1: like and I'm the sort of psycho too that like
- 7:56Speaker 1: I talk about this a lot on the show. This
- 7:58Speaker 1: organization has made the mistake of granting me access. I
- 8:03Speaker 1: was just at the Niners game, walking around on the
- 8:07Speaker 1: field at the same time as all the important people,
- 8:10Speaker 1: and that's an absurd choice on their part. I really
- 8:14Speaker 1: appreciate it. Let's be very clear about that. But if
- 8:17Speaker 1: you put me in, do you know how serious I
- 8:20Speaker 1: would take an ownership meeting? I would be up there, like,
- 8:23Speaker 1: let me tell you about this caramel coorn. Okay, Like
- 8:28Speaker 1: every year that vote is something I'm building up to.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I have a good ability to not let negative results
- 8:34Speaker 1: from sports ruin my day, but I have no ability
- 8:38Speaker 1: to not take it, like to become just a lunatic
- 8:41Speaker 1: about everything.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well, I mean that's why they're called fanatics.
- 8:45Speaker 2: You know, you're literally a fanatic that's been invited into
- 8:49Speaker 2: the organization. It's yeah, I don't know the NFL is.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I mean, it's a beautiful company. I've worked for him
- 8:55Speaker 2: a couple of times. I had a pilot for the
- 8:58Speaker 2: NFL network called After Further You. It was kind of
- 9:01Speaker 2: like best week ever for sports. What I was doing
- 9:04Speaker 2: is I was I was on YouTube and I did
- 9:06Speaker 2: an NFL recap show every single week, and I was
- 9:08Speaker 2: using like unauthorized video and pictures and then I got
- 9:14Speaker 2: I got an email from the NFL, like from their lawyers,
- 9:18Speaker 2: and then I basically told them, like they were like,
- 9:21Speaker 2: can you take this down? And I was like no.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And this was before like the NFL could just go
- 9:26Speaker 2: to YouTube and have them take it down. There just
- 9:28Speaker 2: wasn't a channel for that, you know, back in those days.
- 9:31Speaker 2: And so like I said no to them, and like
- 9:33Speaker 2: if my clips circulated around the office, because they're like,
- 9:36Speaker 2: can you believe that this jerk like just said no
- 9:39Speaker 2: to us, We're the NFL. And then enough people saw
- 9:42Speaker 2: my clips that they're like, maybe we should do something
- 9:44Speaker 2: with this guy. So the NFL network man reached out
- 9:48Speaker 2: to me and they were like, hey, do you want
- 9:50Speaker 2: to do like kind of do your show as a pilot,
- 9:53Speaker 2: but like you got to take your stuff down from YouTube.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And so I made that deal with them, and we
- 9:57Speaker 2: actually like I would go to the NFL headquarter. It
- 10:00Speaker 2: was on Park Avenue in New York, and I would
- 10:03Speaker 2: like we we developed the show, we recorded it and
- 10:06Speaker 2: it was awesome, and Roger Goodell ultimately didn't end up
- 10:12Speaker 2: letting it go. Maybe it wasn't very good or I
- 10:14Speaker 2: don't know what it was but like.
- 10:16Speaker 1: No, I think you should stand firm on that. I
- 10:18Speaker 1: think I think your message should be that the commissioner
- 10:21Speaker 1: of the NFL voted no on your pilot. I think
- 10:23Speaker 1: that's a good stance to take.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think yeah, he voted no. The note
- 10:29Speaker 2: that we got back was that they didn't want to
- 10:31Speaker 2: build a brand and then erode it through humor, was
- 10:35Speaker 2: what what I had the feedback that I got. And
- 10:40Speaker 2: to be fair to Commissioner Goodell, I don't know if
- 10:43Speaker 2: he didn't want to wrote it through humor or through
- 10:46Speaker 2: my humor, he could have just felt like, this is
- 10:50Speaker 2: not funny, and I don't want this to ruin our
- 10:53Speaker 2: brand by being not funny. I don't know.
- 10:56Speaker 1: That's the best part. Here's the thing. So I've been
- 10:58Speaker 1: in whatever whatever, this version of comedy sports thing. I've
- 11:03Speaker 1: been in it for a number of years now. And
- 11:07Speaker 1: my favorite thing about it. You would think it would
- 11:09Speaker 1: be like the access and the creativity and the unique path.
- 11:14Speaker 1: It's always the people who don't believe. I like at
- 11:19Speaker 1: ESPN that when they were like, hey, we're gonna do
- 11:23Speaker 1: Sports Center but on your phone with a comic, there
- 11:28Speaker 1: were people in that building. And then Pete what I
- 11:31Speaker 1: would do is I would show up like prior to
- 11:34Speaker 1: my show, and ESPN is like a campus. It's this big,
- 11:38Speaker 1: beautiful campus. It reminds you of a college town. And
- 11:42Speaker 1: they have a cafeteria, they have all the studios, all
- 11:44Speaker 1: the buildings. So I always worked a night shift, but
- 11:47Speaker 1: I'd want to get there in time to eat and
- 11:49Speaker 1: see the people that I liked that work during the
- 11:51Speaker 1: day because there was a day team and a night team,
- 11:54Speaker 1: and I would always show up in like shorts or
- 11:58Speaker 1: if I was wearing long paints, it was tights with
- 12:01Speaker 1: shorts on top of it. And I'd been there like
- 12:04Speaker 1: two months and I finally had somebody of pretty large
- 12:08Speaker 1: reputation be like, hey, you should wear some pants, and
- 12:12Speaker 1: I was like what, and he goes, this is ESPN,
- 12:15Speaker 1: we wear pants around here. And I literally was like, yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 1: but I wear shorts, and I just kept going. So
- 12:21Speaker 1: I do love I do love being in that realm.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I think if you're in the world where there are
- 12:28Speaker 1: people who go I don't know if this works, either
- 12:31Speaker 1: they're going to be wrong or right. But I think
- 12:33Speaker 1: it's a fun I think it's a fun conflict.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I love naysayers.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Fortunately this team. You know, we don't pull the
- 12:42Speaker 1: curtain back on this show very often, but this podcast
- 12:45Speaker 1: is the direct result of the leadership at the Vikings
- 12:49Speaker 1: and their content team being willing to I mean, imagine
- 12:54Speaker 1: going to an NFL team like I want to get
- 12:56Speaker 1: Bert Kreischer and Dan Soder and Pete Lee and just
- 12:59Speaker 1: let's just talk and see what happens. And they were like,
- 13:03Speaker 1: we love it. So that's that's pretty unusual. Man.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I think the Vikings
- 13:09Speaker 2: I'm a Packerson, but I think the Vikings are a
- 13:11Speaker 2: pretty cool organization in general.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Far less owners.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you guys are not owners, but like watching
- 13:17Speaker 2: that Quarterback show, just seeing that like like they had
- 13:20Speaker 2: team psychiatrists or psychologists that like Kirk Cousins would go
- 13:24Speaker 2: talk to. I don't I mean, I don't think the
- 13:26Speaker 2: Packers have that. I think they're like go to the bar,
- 13:29Speaker 2: you know, like if you're having trouble, shot a shot
- 13:31Speaker 2: of Jmo and drink drink a spotted cow.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Can you imagine how Packers fans And I'm going to
- 13:38Speaker 1: be very stereotypical here and I will own that. So
- 13:41Speaker 1: hit me with your messages, Packer fans Can you imagine
- 13:45Speaker 1: if your quarterback was on that Netflix show and they
- 13:48Speaker 1: watched him go to a psychologist or a psychiatrist. I
- 13:51Speaker 1: think psychologists, psychiast. I'm not good on knowing what professions
- 13:55Speaker 1: are pretty sure psychologist. But if they'd shown a PAS
- 14:00Speaker 1: quarterback doing that, there'd be guys everywhere like not on
- 14:02Speaker 1: my watch. Brother, We don't talk about nothing in this state.
- 14:07Speaker 1: We bury it.
- 14:09Speaker 2: If Jordan Love went to a psychiatrist every single time
- 14:13Speaker 2: that he got sacked, they'd be like, yeah, he got
- 14:15Speaker 2: his feelings hurt. They hit Oh they hit him right
- 14:21Speaker 2: in the feelings. Oh yeah, Yeah. There's there's just so
- 14:26Speaker 2: many and not that there's not Minnesota townies, but like
- 14:29Speaker 2: there's just so many Monday morning, you know, towny quarterbacks
- 14:34Speaker 2: in Wisconsin, and they all know what they what he
- 14:37Speaker 2: should do, and they're so funny.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Well that's the unique thing about so we both came
- 14:43Speaker 1: up at the same club in Minneapolis and then but
- 14:46Speaker 1: when you start and you're young, you go on the road.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And a big version of going on the road is
- 14:51Speaker 1: traveling around Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa doing one night ER's
- 14:56Speaker 1: in towns like there's people here, yeah that want this
- 15:00Speaker 1: you people. You're trying to tell me that people in
- 15:02Speaker 1: this town are gonna come watch me try to make
- 15:05Speaker 1: them laugh. And the thing that I learned very early
- 15:10Speaker 1: is there is nothing I am less interested in whilst
- 15:15Speaker 1: doing small town Midwestern gigs than any football conversation. Oh yeah,
- 15:21Speaker 1: that is. Nothing will make you care about football less
- 15:25Speaker 1: than performing in your rival state and then finding out
- 15:28Speaker 1: you're from Minnesota. It's awful.
- 15:31Speaker 2: It's really funny how offensive it is to people in Wisconsin.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And like I've always I joke about it on stage,
- 15:38Speaker 2: like people are like, oh, you're from Minnesota. Oh oh no,
- 15:43Speaker 2: how could you? And it's like it's it's really kind
- 15:45Speaker 2: of all the same place. And at some point a
- 15:48Speaker 2: drunk guy drew lines, you know, like like I I'm
- 15:50Speaker 2: a bit about how the Lions like like this, like
- 15:53Speaker 2: the states could be like Minnesota could basically be a rectangle,
- 15:56Speaker 2: but they just drew it all weird. But I mean
- 15:59Speaker 2: it's pretty much the same place. I think they have
- 16:01Speaker 2: a lot of the same agricultural interests. They're like, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 2: like I mean, you know there's that bar that's like
- 16:07Speaker 2: right on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. It's like
- 16:10Speaker 2: and it's like painted half Wisconsin colors and half Minnesota colors,
- 16:14Speaker 2: and it's it's like literally the same place. But we've
- 16:18Speaker 2: created these these divisions through the NFL. And it's not
- 16:22Speaker 2: that there's there's state rivalries. It's how serious they are
- 16:26Speaker 2: about it and how they don't even have a perception
- 16:29Speaker 2: that it's semi ridiculous.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Spoiler alert. We also like and produce a fair amount
- 16:36Speaker 1: of cheese. Yeah, but I will say I do love it.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I I both cannot take it seriously, but I don't
- 16:45Speaker 1: want to deal with it. When I'm doing a stand
- 16:47Speaker 1: up show, I don't like if you put me on
- 16:49Speaker 1: stage and you introduce me as from Minnesota in Janesville,
- 16:54Speaker 1: It's it's the worst. Now I've got to convince seventy
- 16:57Speaker 1: dads that I'm worth listening to for fifty teen minutes
- 17:00Speaker 1: because they think I might not like their favorite running back.
- 17:04Speaker 1: And I don't have a ton of time for that.
- 17:06Speaker 1: But when you go to a like a divisional rivalry tailgate, Oh,
- 17:13Speaker 1: paint that all over my wall so I can stare
- 17:16Speaker 1: at it forever. Grown men in cheese hats and grown
- 17:20Speaker 1: men in horn hats shouting at each other poorly I'll
- 17:25Speaker 1: watch that over most other sporting events. It's a really
- 17:29Speaker 1: good time for me.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I had a friend who is a diehard Eagles fan,
- 17:33Speaker 2: and the Eagles fan who's just used to the link,
- 17:36Speaker 2: you know, used to Phillies fans came to Lambeau with
- 17:40Speaker 2: me to watch Eagles packers, and it was so funny
- 17:43Speaker 2: because like the way the way Midwesterners like talk trash
- 17:48Speaker 2: is just way different than the Eagles fans. So, like
- 17:52Speaker 2: my Eagles fan friend was walking through with the Eagles
- 17:56Speaker 2: jersey like I'm gonna get jumped, I'm gonna get beat up.
- 17:58Speaker 2: And they were like, oh, you're.
- 18:00Speaker 3: An Eagles fan, all right, well have a bloody marian.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you how bad you are. Uh fly
- 18:06Speaker 3: Eagles fly. Well, you guys aren't even gonna leave the nest,
- 18:09Speaker 3: That's what I'll tell you. And then they made my
- 18:12Speaker 3: friend do like three shots with them, and and my
- 18:15Speaker 3: friend was like they were so nice. They get they
- 18:17Speaker 3: gave me like three shots. I'm like, yeah, they're poisoning
- 18:20Speaker 3: you slowly with the poison that they've become accustomed to.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I'm like, don't do so many shots because we still
- 18:27Speaker 3: have three blocks to go until the stadium and that's
- 18:30Speaker 3: how they're gonna that's how they're gonna bring you down.
- 18:33Speaker 2: And he's like, they gave me a broughtwurst. I'm like, yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 2: like you're you have diabetes. Now, like we literally that's
- 18:39Speaker 2: how we get you.
- 18:40Speaker 1: We're gonna kill you with with sustenance.
- 18:44Speaker 2: And then the next year, my buddy was like, all right, well,
- 18:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna get you tickets to the Link. We're gonna
- 18:50Speaker 2: go out to Philly. And We're driving through the parking
- 18:53Speaker 2: lot and I have my Aaron Rodgers jersey on and
- 18:56Speaker 2: people are literally founding on my car because I like,
- 18:59Speaker 2: I we're in a Packers jersey and they can see
- 19:01Speaker 2: it in my rental car and I'm like, oh my god,
- 19:04Speaker 2: I am in danger. And so I just kept driving
- 19:08Speaker 2: slowly until I found these two giant dudes. They looked
- 19:13Speaker 2: like they were like Packers linemen and now they just
- 19:16Speaker 2: go to all the games. Like these dudes were huge,
- 19:19Speaker 2: and I parked right next to him and I popped
- 19:21Speaker 2: up in my trunk and I was like, Hey, I
- 19:22Speaker 2: have all this food, all this booze, like I'll cook
- 19:25Speaker 2: for you. I was like, just walk me into the game.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And these guys were like, yeah, we're actually bodyguards, that's
- 19:31Speaker 2: what we do for a living. And so I gave
- 19:33Speaker 2: them two hundred dollars and they actually they walked me
- 19:35Speaker 2: and my friend out of the game too, so like
- 19:38Speaker 2: they're like, here's my cell number. But like I was
- 19:40Speaker 2: in physical danger in Philly. It's like a way different
- 19:45Speaker 2: thing East Coast to Midwest. But that's why, like, like
- 19:49Speaker 2: I've been to Packers Vikings games back when is at
- 19:52Speaker 2: the Metrodome, and like I've been around Minnesota fans and
- 19:55Speaker 2: they're the same way where they'll they'll they'll really get
- 19:58Speaker 2: after you and they'll make fun of you for being
- 20:00Speaker 2: a Packers fan, but they're like they're not going to
- 20:02Speaker 2: hurt you. That's the key thing.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I've said this before. I was at the Randy Moss
- 20:06Speaker 1: Moon game. H I did feel in the third quarter
- 20:10Speaker 1: because that was a blowout and nobody expected it. And
- 20:13Speaker 1: I remember cheering after a touchdown at some point in
- 20:16Speaker 1: the second half and being like, oh, let's put our
- 20:19Speaker 1: jackets on. Like I felt that because that was the playoffs.
- 20:22Speaker 1: But even then, the worst we got was like some
- 20:25Speaker 1: bad looks And that's always been my experience on the
- 20:29Speaker 1: way out to that game. It was my nephew Seth
- 20:31Speaker 1: and I. I've got a big Hillbilly family. So I
- 20:35Speaker 1: was nineteen with my nearly adult nephew and he was
- 20:39Speaker 1: a senior in high school and we were driving out
- 20:41Speaker 1: to that game, and we stopped at a truck stop
- 20:45Speaker 1: and I locked my keys in the car, and so
- 20:50Speaker 1: we were We eventually called someone to come open it
- 20:53Speaker 1: for us, but for a minute there we were in
- 20:56Speaker 1: the heart of Wisconsin, at a Wisconsin truck stop on
- 21:01Speaker 1: the day of a Packer playoff game, trying to break
- 21:05Speaker 1: wearing Vikings gear, trying to break into my own car
- 21:09Speaker 1: with a coat hanger, and people were helping us. If
- 21:13Speaker 1: that happened in Philadelphia, just leave your car and go
- 21:18Speaker 1: back to your home city, because nothing. If you're not
- 21:21Speaker 1: in that car in thirty seconds, it's not gonna end awesome.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, like people would be heckling you, because number one,
- 21:28Speaker 2: if you're in Philly, they're better at breaking into cars
- 21:30Speaker 2: than you, and they're they were like, hey, pal, nice try.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You don't even got one of those magnets.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Why don't you got a magnet? One time I was outside,
- 21:42Speaker 2: I was outside of one of the Philly cheese steak places.
- 21:45Speaker 2: I won't say, all right, it was Gino's. I'm friends
- 21:49Speaker 2: with Geno from Geno's Cheese Steaks. And I was just
- 21:52Speaker 2: trying to parallel park my rental car and this guy
- 21:54Speaker 2: didn't like the way I was parallel parking, and then
- 21:56Speaker 2: he wanted to fight me when I got out of it.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's total Norman.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I was like, this town is psycho, like like Philly
- 22:04Speaker 2: is psycho. It's absolutely insane.
- 22:08Speaker 1: That's how you can tell where the walls fall down
- 22:12Speaker 1: between Packers and Vikings fans because and I think Bears
- 22:17Speaker 1: fans are a little bit outside that, because Bear's Chicago
- 22:20Speaker 1: has a different attitude, right, I don't find their attitude
- 22:24Speaker 1: to be as similar to our two team and fan
- 22:27Speaker 1: base's attitudes. But it never becomes more apparent how similar
- 22:31Speaker 1: we are than we're like, hey, let's talk about that
- 22:33Speaker 1: team that has a that used to have a jail
- 22:35Speaker 1: underneath their stadium. Should we talk about them for a minute,
- 22:38Speaker 1: And we're just like, yeah, let's all hug and go
- 22:41Speaker 1: to the game together. We like each other. It's a
- 22:44Speaker 1: very very different vibe. And I you know, obviously Viking fans,
- 22:48Speaker 1: with how poorly things have gone for us in Philadelphia
- 22:53Speaker 1: the last few years. Will will lap up all of
- 22:56Speaker 1: your Philly disdain Pete for sure?
- 22:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah yeah. Last night, so I'm we have a
- 23:03Speaker 2: house in Arizona, and so we're down here for the
- 23:06Speaker 2: Diamondbacks win. And we went to a bar and there
- 23:09Speaker 2: were these Phillies fans that were there and they're like
- 23:12Speaker 2: a kid believe we're losing at home. And I'm like,
- 23:14Speaker 2: it's not an advantage for the Phillies to be at home,
- 23:17Speaker 2: because if the Phillies start losing, it's not like your
- 23:20Speaker 2: fans are going to be supportive. Like the fans were
- 23:23Speaker 2: booing their team when they're down two to four in
- 23:26Speaker 2: the NLCS last night. I'm like, it's a disadvantage for
- 23:30Speaker 2: them to be at home.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Home field advantage turns to a non one really quick
- 23:35Speaker 1: in Philadelphia if you're not playing as well as the
- 23:37Speaker 1: fans want you to.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Being a Philadelphia sportsperson and losing at home is like
- 23:42Speaker 2: if you're at home with your wife that told you
- 23:44Speaker 2: that you should hire a plumber, and you're underneath the
- 23:47Speaker 2: sink and you start, you break the pipe and it's
- 23:50Speaker 2: eight thirty pm and now you can't even go to
- 23:53Speaker 2: the hardware store to get a replacement thing, and she's
- 23:55Speaker 2: heckling you, going, we should have called a plumber now
- 23:59Speaker 2: now our waters show off. I can't even shower before
- 24:01Speaker 2: work tomorrow, Like like you're a disappointment at home. That's
- 24:06Speaker 2: what being a Philadelphia sportsperson must be like, playing at
- 24:09Speaker 2: home when you're losing.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Speaking of being at home, because I will gloss over this.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It just popped into my brain and I will gloss
- 24:16Speaker 1: over it and forget to mention it and be mad
- 24:18Speaker 1: at myself. I like knowing how people watch games. You know,
- 24:21Speaker 1: do you like at home? Do you like the stays?
- 24:23Speaker 1: But very specifically, I would like you to discuss when
- 24:28Speaker 1: you watch a game, when the game starts, tell me
- 24:32Speaker 1: what happens in your home? Pete.
- 24:33Speaker 2: All right, So we have a little shelf and the
- 24:36Speaker 2: it's a shelf in the pantry, and there's a special
- 24:39Speaker 2: spot at the bottom of the pantry right next to
- 24:41Speaker 2: my dog's food. And my dog has his packers callar,
- 24:47Speaker 2: which is a caller that's like way too big for him,
- 24:50Speaker 2: Like it's almost like a packer's necklace. Because when my
- 24:53Speaker 2: wife went and bought it for him to surprise me,
- 24:57Speaker 2: she just didn't size the dog's neck for it or whatever.
- 25:00Speaker 2: So he wears his normal collar and then over it
- 25:02Speaker 2: it's almost like he's got like a fabric wrapper chain.
- 25:07Speaker 2: And as soon as the game starts, and my dog
- 25:11Speaker 2: knows that, like all the packer snacks are out and
- 25:14Speaker 2: all the like, you know, there's like a cheese play with.
- 25:17Speaker 2: My dog loves cheese. He knows that if he goes
- 25:20Speaker 2: and he gets his collar and he brings it to me,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I'll put it on him and he'll get a piece
- 25:25Speaker 2: of cheese and then we can watch the game. But
- 25:28Speaker 2: I'm not a superstitious person. My wife is superstitious, but
- 25:33Speaker 2: she's like, have you ever noticed that if Diesel's not
- 25:35Speaker 2: wearing his collar for the game, the Packers lose? And
- 25:39Speaker 2: so like for the Packers Bears game, Diesel was wearing
- 25:42Speaker 2: his collar. And then for this season, we've been traveling
- 25:45Speaker 2: a bunch, so Diesel has we haven't had his collar
- 25:48Speaker 2: to even be with him, and so the Packers have
- 25:52Speaker 2: been losing. And then you know, a couple of weeks ago,
- 25:56Speaker 2: they you know, they won and it's because he had
- 25:58Speaker 2: his collar. And so I just want to say, as
- 26:00Speaker 2: an owner, I've been really letting our franchise down. Like
- 26:03Speaker 2: the thing that we should really vote on in the
- 26:05Speaker 2: in the Packers meetings is like should Diesel always travel
- 26:09Speaker 2: with his caller? That's that's the key piece.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. That's a tough thing to admit. Like, Hi, everybody,
- 26:15Speaker 1: I'm Pete, I'm an owner. I just want to say
- 26:17Speaker 1: sorry for last year we didn't bring Diesel's collar with
- 26:21Speaker 1: him on weeks that we weren't gonna be home. Just boh,
- 26:26Speaker 1: the booze pour down, but transition alert.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you.
- 26:33Speaker 1: This is something else I wouldn't handle. Well. You live
- 26:37Speaker 1: down the street from future Hall of Famer slash former
- 26:44Speaker 1: Packers great slash current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Do you what? How as a Packer fan, how do
- 26:53Speaker 1: you handle that? Have you been pretty chill about it?
- 26:55Speaker 2: Ah? No. I first of all, I've never met Aaron Rodgers,
- 26:59Speaker 2: but I've driven past his house slowly, which he I
- 27:05Speaker 2: won't say the street that he lives on in in
- 27:07Speaker 2: California or the road or whatever. But when he announced
- 27:12Speaker 2: that he was going to the Jets, I almost went
- 27:14Speaker 2: down to his house and I did a bit about
- 27:18Speaker 2: it because I just I just started talking about it
- 27:20Speaker 2: on stage. I was I was on stage in Wisconsin.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I just started talking about it. I'm like, yeah, I
- 27:24Speaker 2: almost went down to his house. And but then my
- 27:26Speaker 2: my wife was like, Pete, you're gonna get arrested. And
- 27:29Speaker 2: I was like, I'll just wear an Aaron Rodgers jersey
- 27:31Speaker 2: and people would be like, who's who. And then my
- 27:34Speaker 2: wife added, she goes, she goes, well, they'll know that
- 27:37Speaker 2: you're the real Aaron Rodgers if you just kind of
- 27:39Speaker 2: walk with a calf cramp. And this was before his injury,
- 27:43Speaker 2: so I'm not trying to make a tasteless insult or whatever,
- 27:46Speaker 2: but like he always had that calf cramp like he
- 27:48Speaker 2: would he would, you know, limp, and his calf was
- 27:51Speaker 2: always hurting him. And so yeah, that I didn't end
- 27:56Speaker 2: up going down there. I still love him even though
- 27:59Speaker 2: he left the team.
- 28:00Speaker 1: But you know, it's interesting. You have such a storied history,
- 28:04Speaker 1: so you can make a case for a lot of
- 28:06Speaker 1: different guys, you know, but there's a pretty good case
- 28:10Speaker 1: to be made that he's the greatest packer of all time.
- 28:13Speaker 1: He's in that like some that's that sentence is going
- 28:16Speaker 1: to hit a lot of different people, a lot of
- 28:18Speaker 1: different ways, but I think there's a conversation there. And
- 28:22Speaker 1: to have somebody like that so close living to you, yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 1: I can understand how somebody get a little weird about that.
- 28:28Speaker 1: You could put Matthew Hatchet on my street and I'd
- 28:31Speaker 1: be weird about that. And Pete, I guarantee you've never
- 28:33Speaker 1: even heard that name. I think he was the fourth
- 28:36Speaker 1: wide receiver back in the late nineties early two thousands,
- 28:39Speaker 1: So that's you could do that and I'd just be
- 28:40Speaker 1: watching walking by, Like I wonder if hatches outside today.
- 28:43Speaker 1: So I'm impressed. I'm impressed by your ability to not
- 28:47Speaker 1: be like I bet Aaron and I are going to
- 28:49Speaker 1: get real close here as friends and neighbors.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I mean I shouldn't say this, but like he doesn't
- 28:53Speaker 2: even have a git on his house like I think
- 28:55Speaker 2: nowadays with all the cameras and all that kind of stuff,
- 28:59Speaker 2: like like you're you're so safe digitally, you know, and
- 29:03Speaker 2: also like if somebody wants to get into your lawn,
- 29:06Speaker 2: you know, most of the gates in California are like
- 29:08Speaker 2: four feet tall, like you could just hop over that
- 29:11Speaker 2: or whatever. It's but like I don't know, Yeah, I
- 29:14Speaker 2: mean he and he probably has security and all that
- 29:18Speaker 2: kind of stuff. Can you tell I've thought about it?
- 29:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is like listening to a guy
- 29:23Speaker 1: going through his checklist of reasons it wouldn't work. But
- 29:27Speaker 1: you don't know. Pete is like those were his bodyguards
- 29:30Speaker 1: in Philadelphia. They were just on vacation for the week.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah they were. They like, yeah, I mean he was
- 29:35Speaker 2: playing in that game, so maybe they just didn't need
- 29:38Speaker 2: to while he's on the field, you know, they can't
- 29:40Speaker 2: guard him.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they just get their tickets. They're like, well, we're
- 29:43Speaker 1: normally we protect this really impressive guy. Let's help this
- 29:47Speaker 1: boy into the stadium. He seems scared, and let's help
- 29:50Speaker 1: him all the way through.
- 29:52Speaker 2: It was funny, you know, like Aaron Rodgers is friends
- 29:54Speaker 2: with a lot of comedians, Like you know, I'm I'm
- 29:57Speaker 2: tight with Bert and you know, he's tight with Burt,
- 30:00Speaker 2: and he's tight with Rogan and all those guys. And
- 30:03Speaker 2: he's really tight with Nick Schwartzen, who's our friend. And
- 30:07Speaker 2: so it's it's interesting because I think one of the
- 30:10Speaker 2: things that stopped me from just walking down there and
- 30:12Speaker 2: knocking on his door to introduce myself is that like
- 30:15Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm gonna meet him under cooler circumstances.
- 30:18Speaker 1: That's the rationale I wanted Pete. That's the lunacy that
- 30:23Speaker 1: I can get on board with. Right there, when Sigura
- 30:27Speaker 1: was in I think somewhere in the area, Mike Cronin,
- 30:31Speaker 1: our friend, was opening for him, and so he and
- 30:34Speaker 1: Sigura got to meet a lot of the packers and
- 30:36Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers was there, and Cronin was just talking about
- 30:39Speaker 1: how great and like easy going of a guy he was,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and I just couldn't hear it. I just I was like,
- 30:46Speaker 1: give this to anybody else. I don't want this, and
- 30:50Speaker 1: this was I don't need this, I don't care about this. Oh,
- 30:53Speaker 1: is he the best? Is he a nice fun hangout?
- 30:57Speaker 1: Take it somewhere else. I don't care at all. I'm
- 31:01Speaker 1: glad he's great. I just have that energy where I
- 31:06Speaker 1: used to live in the Topanga Topanga Canyon when I
- 31:09Speaker 1: lived in LA and I was in a Vaughn's grocery
- 31:13Speaker 1: store and I turned around a corner and Clay Matthews
- 31:17Speaker 1: was there. And I think most normal football fans, and
- 31:20Speaker 1: this is at the height of Clay Matthews, would have
- 31:22Speaker 1: been like Clay Matthews and all I could say to
- 31:25Speaker 1: him is like I don't like you at all, and
- 31:28Speaker 1: he's like Viking fan and I was like yep, and
- 31:30Speaker 1: he goes cool and then we just parted ways. You know.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I did it like kind of in a funny way,
- 31:35Speaker 1: so he didn't think that I was being a dick,
- 31:38Speaker 1: but I just I don't want to hear it. Here's
- 31:40Speaker 1: the thing, this is how petty I am. I want
- 31:43Speaker 1: you in two years to come back on the show
- 31:46Speaker 1: and be like, you're never gonna believe it. I met
- 31:48Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers and all he did was make fun of
- 31:50Speaker 1: my ownership of the team. I'd be like, well, now
- 31:52Speaker 1: that's good. That's the story. That's the story. He made
- 31:57Speaker 1: fun of our meetings. I would love that. That's the
- 32:01Speaker 1: story I need.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I wonder if the players ever have to go to
- 32:04Speaker 2: those ownership meetings and then they're walking through the tunnel
- 32:07Speaker 2: and they're like losers.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I've been really lucky to be around a bunch of
- 32:13Speaker 1: the players with the Vikings. And I do think, as
- 32:16Speaker 1: with any profession, like you're gonna run into some accountants
- 32:21Speaker 1: who are apples, right. There's just there's always going to
- 32:24Speaker 1: be people in every profession that just aren't super kind.
- 32:27Speaker 1: But I have been beyond impressed with the way the
- 32:33Speaker 1: players that I've met and spend time with, with the
- 32:36Speaker 1: way they wear the fans' passion. And I don't know,
- 32:40Speaker 1: like if that's part of the modern era. You know,
- 32:44Speaker 1: for so long there was this disconnect between the fans
- 32:48Speaker 1: and the players. And now with podcasts and social media,
- 32:52Speaker 1: like Draymond Green has, all these players have complete access
- 32:56Speaker 1: to the fans and the fans have access to them.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And although I think there's been negatives on both sides,
- 33:02Speaker 1: like fans who take it too far and players who don't,
- 33:04Speaker 1: more often than not I think there is this love
- 33:07Speaker 1: and appreciation from players that is like, oh, I we
- 33:11Speaker 1: know why you're so upset or you're so happy, and
- 33:14Speaker 1: we really like the ability to be in front of you.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Maybe that's a new school thing, but I feel that
- 33:21Speaker 1: vibe all the time when I'm around players.
- 33:23Speaker 2: We're talking about the East Coast fans versus the Midwestern fans.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I bet Vikings players are like, man, this community means
- 33:29Speaker 2: everything to me. I bet Packers fans are like, man,
- 33:32Speaker 2: this community is so awesome. Our fans they love us
- 33:36Speaker 2: even when we lose. But Man, to be a Giants,
- 33:42Speaker 2: like a New York Giant, you know, a Philadelphia Eagle.
- 33:46Speaker 2: That has to be hard sometimes when you get booed
- 33:49Speaker 2: at home to deal with that. I mean, oh yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 2: I remember when I lived out in New York City.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Derek Jeter hit his three thousandth hit, which if you
- 33:58Speaker 2: remember that, it was a home run, and then at
- 34:01Speaker 2: the next at bat he struck out and the fans
- 34:04Speaker 2: boot him. It was like the most New York thing
- 34:09Speaker 2: that I've ever seen in my life. And he just
- 34:13Speaker 2: kind of like went to the dugout like like okay,
- 34:16Speaker 2: you know, like like yep, I couldn't done. I mean,
- 34:20Speaker 2: people came to the game to try to get video
- 34:23Speaker 2: on their dumb phones of his three thousandth hit and
- 34:26Speaker 2: it wound up being a home run and then they
- 34:28Speaker 2: boot him. It was like, I don't know how you
- 34:30Speaker 2: couldn't have some sort of sense of humor about your
- 34:33Speaker 2: own fans if you're a New York sports person, Yeah,
- 34:37Speaker 2: you know, but you got you gotta say. I love
- 34:39Speaker 2: the fans, but I feel like if I was an
- 34:42Speaker 2: Eagles player or a New York sports person, I would
- 34:46Speaker 2: go home and like my wife and I call it
- 34:49Speaker 2: couch time, you know. Where like we can just say
- 34:51Speaker 2: things that like you can't say to anybody else, you know,
- 34:53Speaker 2: you don't want to put it on Twitter. We can
- 34:55Speaker 2: just have couch time. If I was an Eagles or
- 34:57Speaker 2: a Giants player, I'd go home and be like, Babe,
- 34:59Speaker 2: couch time. Oh my god, they buddh us at home
- 35:03Speaker 2: like I dropped the ball, and yeah they were right,
- 35:05Speaker 2: but like, oh my god, like these people, like some
- 35:09Speaker 2: of them, I just got booed by some of the
- 35:11Speaker 2: most unathletic people on the planet.
- 35:14Speaker 1: That's I was talking about this with a buddy recently.
- 35:17Speaker 1: The wild thing about sports is so Kirk Cousins, you said,
- 35:21Speaker 1: you know, with the it's been really interesting with the
- 35:24Speaker 1: Quarterback documentary to give everybody a glimpse of his inner world.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And you know, there's as he's always been a hot topic,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you know, in Washington and now in Minnesota. But I
- 35:38Speaker 1: was talking with a buddy and I was like, imagine,
- 35:40Speaker 1: I'm just imagining this for a second. So let's say
- 35:43Speaker 1: I don't I don't like rankings. I'm not interested in rankings,
- 35:46Speaker 1: but I'm gonna give a ranking for the sake of it.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Let's say you think Kirk Cousins is the eighth best
- 35:52Speaker 1: quarterback in the league or the tenth or the twelfth,
- 35:55Speaker 1: I don't care. Just pick one for the sake of
- 35:58Speaker 1: the conversation and you go, okay, well, that means he's
- 36:04Speaker 1: the tenth best in the whole world of a thing
- 36:08Speaker 1: and not a thing like anything else. There's a lot
- 36:13Speaker 1: of people who don't want to be like, if you're
- 36:14Speaker 1: one of the ten best accountants in the world, most
- 36:16Speaker 1: of us would go like, cool accounting. But football is
- 36:22Speaker 1: the thing that everybody wants, and he's that good, and
- 36:25Speaker 1: there are still a lot of people who are like, nah,
- 36:29Speaker 1: uh uh, this guy doesn't have it. It's that is
- 36:32Speaker 1: wild to me that that is how it works.
- 36:35Speaker 2: He is a quarterback that has so much precision, like
- 36:39Speaker 2: I mean, he's like a surgeon, and you know, every
- 36:42Speaker 2: once in a while play will go wrong or like
- 36:44Speaker 2: maybe you don't see the field. There are always those
- 36:47Speaker 2: things like if you see a quarterback trending on Twitter,
- 36:51Speaker 2: chances are there's gonna be one play out of the
- 36:54Speaker 2: whole game where a guy was wide open and then
- 36:57Speaker 2: they threw it to the sidelines or they threw the interception,
- 37:00Speaker 2: and then that's gonna be the thing that all these
- 37:02Speaker 2: armchair quarterbacks or all these armchair coaches.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Or armchair owners, armchair.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Owners are going to make their case for that's why
- 37:10Speaker 2: that guy's the worst quarterback ever. And it was just
- 37:13Speaker 2: a lapse, you know. It was like a, Hey, I
- 37:16Speaker 2: don't know any decision that I could make quickly when
- 37:19Speaker 2: I have three giant guys running at me. And Kirk
- 37:23Speaker 2: Cousin does that all the time.
- 37:25Speaker 1: If somebody said, Pete, pick a joke, and then three
- 37:28Speaker 1: adult men started running at you, there's no way you
- 37:31Speaker 1: choose a joke before you get hit. And that's just
- 37:34Speaker 1: thinking of something you've done a million times, let alone
- 37:37Speaker 1: processing a play, executing the play. The amount of things
- 37:42Speaker 1: I could do with a grown successfully, with a grown
- 37:45Speaker 1: man running at me is between zero and zero. I
- 37:49Speaker 1: couldn't do it.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and especially when the plays aren't even called what
- 37:52Speaker 2: the plays are called, Like the coach is like, all right,
- 37:55Speaker 2: we want zero mountain shakeshack and you're like, okay, you
- 37:59Speaker 2: gotta translate that language into whatever play it is, and
- 38:04Speaker 2: then you know, get your guys all on the same page.
- 38:06Speaker 2: And then maybe let's say, let's say the wide receiver
- 38:09Speaker 2: that was open didn't run the route that you had
- 38:12Speaker 2: scripted in your brain or whatever. It was, like, there's
- 38:15Speaker 2: so many reasons for it. But yeah, Kirk Cousins, I mean,
- 38:18Speaker 2: I'm a Packers fan, and I think he's an amazing man.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I think he's a great quarterback. I watched him beat
- 38:25Speaker 2: the Minnesota golfers. You know, I went to the I
- 38:28Speaker 2: went to the University of Minnesota. I watched him dismantle
- 38:31Speaker 2: our team for years when he was at Michigan State.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Like we would always play Michigan State for our homecoming
- 38:37Speaker 2: because they were like our best chance at winning a
- 38:41Speaker 2: game in those seasons, and then Kirk Cousins would come
- 38:44Speaker 2: in and just be amazing, and so yeah, I have
- 38:47Speaker 2: a great appreciation for him, even as a Packers fan.
- 38:51Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean the guy in that Quarterback show,
- 38:54Speaker 2: like he would have like bruised ribs and then he
- 38:57Speaker 2: would like still go and volunteer on Mondays and like
- 39:02Speaker 2: just great, great dude.
- 39:04Speaker 1: It's wild Pete. I love you a bunch, and I
- 39:07Speaker 1: really appreciate you doing this. Thank you. I'm gonna do
- 39:10Speaker 1: what we make. You're not gonna like it. I make
- 39:13Speaker 1: everybody do it. I do need before we let you go.
- 39:15Speaker 1: A prediction for this week's game.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I hate to say it as a Packers fan, but
- 39:20Speaker 2: I don't think we're gonna beat you again.
- 39:23Speaker 1: But I'd like to hear Daddy give it to me. Daddy.
- 39:26Speaker 2: I like that, like I love the Packers, I believe
- 39:31Speaker 2: in Jordan. Love is what I have to say as
- 39:33Speaker 2: an owner. But I don't think that things are clicking
- 39:36Speaker 2: right now with the Packers. I think that the Vikings
- 39:40Speaker 2: are going to I think the Vikings are going to
- 39:43Speaker 2: beat us, like thirty eight to six. I don't think
- 39:48Speaker 2: that we're even going to score a touchdown.
- 39:51Speaker 1: That is a bold prediction that it feels like reverse psychology.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm going to go with Packers. I think
- 40:02Speaker 1: they're gonna get more than six. I'm gonna go with
- 40:04Speaker 1: fourteen and I think Vikings one hundred and thirty eight. Pete,
- 40:12Speaker 1: you're the best of the best, buddy. Thank you for
- 40:13Speaker 1: doing this, dude, Thank you so much for having me.
