- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Surviving Ish the Political Edition.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Again, not an expert.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to learn as a go, so bear with me, but I'm open to respectful conversations.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: So that said, before I get into the facts, I need to make one thing crystal fucking clear.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: When it comes to sexual assault and misconduct, the political party next to the name means absolutely nothing to me.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: You know, we see this every day.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: People treat politicians like a sports team.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: If someone on their side gets accused, they go into protection mode.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: They start pointing fingers at the other side, bringing up what Biden did or who was in the Epstein files, as if that somehow cancels out the harm.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: But that's not how it works.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Protecting a politician just because you like their tweets or their policies, and to the listener, there's quotation marks around.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: That's not what I'm about.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: That's not what this platform is about, right?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: MAGA might protect their own, but on this show, we protect the victims.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: We believe victims, we stand by victims.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: If you hurt people, I don't care if you're a Republican or Democrat or an independent, you don't get a pass, period.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And today we're looking at Eric Swabell.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And the reality of what he's been accused of is pretty heavy, y'all.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, so let's look at the timeline.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Because this moved pretty fast.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: So on Friday, April 10th, 2026, the San Francisco Chronicle dropped a bomb.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: They reported that a former staffer accused Swalwell of two separate sexual assaults.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Now, this it wasn't some random person.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: This was someone who worked in his district starting in like 2019, I believe.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: She allegedly pressured her into sexual acts when she was 21 years old and too intoxicated for consent, which I believe is a thing.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I believe you can be absolutely too intoxicated to give full consent.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: She claims another assault happened as recently as April 2024 in New York.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Hours later, CNN backed it up with three more women coming forward describing a pattern of mentorship turning into explicit messages and unwanted touching.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: So by Sunday, he dropped out of the California governor's race, and by Tuesday, he resigned from Congress entirely.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: You don't walk away from that kind of power over just a tabloid murderer.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: If you thought the staffer allegations were bad, just wait until you hear about the press conference from Tuesday, April 14th.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: A woman named Delana Juiz stood with her attorney, Lisa Bloom, and detailed a violent assault from 2018.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: She met Swabell through mutual friends while she was running a fashion software company, and he offered to help her with connections.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: On their third meeting, they were headed to a political event when he said that he needed to stop at his hotel room to grab paperwork.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Lana says after one glass of wine, she felt heavy and as if she had possibly been drugged.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: She alleges he raped and choked her until she lost consciousness.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: She even has the journal entries from 2018 where she recorded the incident.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: This isn't just a he said, she said.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: There's a criminal investigation out open with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department specifically for this case.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Now, while this is all coming out, the Department of Public Security, the same agency Christy Nolan was running, confirmed they are investigating Swalwell for hiring a Brazilian national as a nanny without work authorization.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: But the biggest legal threat is this.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has officially opened a criminal probe into the April 24 or April 2024 assault.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: They're looking at New York's laws on physical helplessness and mental incapacity due to alcohol.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Swatwell is calling it a political hit job, but the DE's office, they don't just open special victim treatments for politics.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: They do it because they have evidence, like the text messages, the medical records.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And I believe it was CNN says that they've already been reviewed.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: I know some people are going to hear this and say, why are they attacking Democrats?
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: My answer is simple.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: I'm not attacking anyone.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: I'm looking at the facts and standing with the women who have to live with scars.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Because I'm Democrat, because I'm anti-MAGA, because I'm anti-Donald Trump does not mean that I cannot call out the other side.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I'm not an occult.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So absolutely, I can call out my side.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: If we don't call it out, then I'm part of the problem.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: I don't care about the blue flag or the red flag.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: I care about the truth.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I care about victims.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: I care about survivors.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Eric Swell's career is over because he couldn't outrun his own actions.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I don't know a lot, and I don't know how to really navigate all of this.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Like, like I said, I'm just trying to learn.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: But I'm not gonna sit and release episode after episode putting down MAGA, putting down Donald Trump, um, putting down the administration, putting down ICE, and turning a blind eye to someone who I thought was good.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I thought maybe he was for victims.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: And so it was very important for me to put in this episode.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Um, it is absolutely out of order from what we designed the show to be, but I did not want to take a chance on being called out for turning a blind eye just because this person being accused of horrific things is a part of the Democratic Party.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I know where the red line is, and he's absolutely crossed it.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: All right, guys, I'll see you all next time.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Thank you all for um listening to Surviving Ish and hit me up with any thoughts, questions, corrections, anything you can think of.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: I'll see you next time.
