Latest / Inside Integration / Episode 104: Shilling for Dante after Dark
Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to the Inside Integration Podcast.
- 0:02My name is Chris. I am joined, as always, by my
- 0:04partner Jason. What's up, everybody?
- 0:09And this is inside integration. After dark, we are, we, we are
- 0:14recording this one at 9:00 PM because Jason's schedule is all
- 0:19over the place and you know, that's here we are.
- 0:23You know what we're we're keeping the dream alive.
- 0:24We're keeping the streak alive. It really doesn't matter what
- 0:28time of day that we record this because we don't know what time
- 0:30of day people are going to listen.
- 0:31It could be early in the morning, It could be in the van
- 0:34on the way to work. It could be a friend of mine
- 0:36somewhere in Cleveland, OH. That's just like, hey, I heard
- 0:40that you had a podcast. I want to listen to what's going
- 0:42on. You guys are.
- 0:43Weird. I don't understand what you guys
- 0:45are talking about, but we like you.
- 0:46Yeah, we need more of that and and you know, more of the
- 0:48absolutely more of the inside, you know, more of the inside
- 0:51stuff that nobody else gets. And maybe it's funny to like 3
- 0:54people, but you know, that's, that's how we roll.
- 0:56That's that's what we. Do hey, you know what I'll, I'll
- 0:59take it. You know, we, we keep, we keep
- 1:01averaging whatever 30 to 40 listens or downloads or whatever
- 1:04it looks like on one platform, I'll take it, take it 10 or 15
- 1:08or whatever on another. Like you know what I'll.
- 1:10Take it. We'll we'll do whatever we can.
- 1:13We're pretty much doing this for ourselves, but we we enjoy the
- 1:16people like to listen and I, I do enjoy the the non sequitur
- 1:19comments like, Hey, I listen to your podcast.
- 1:21I. Forgot to add 1.
- 1:23Which? Which one?
- 1:25Nobody's not supposed? Nobody's supposed to hear that.
- 1:27Yeah, that's just, this is just our private therapy session.
- 1:30Is what we just record and and broadcast out so that people can
- 1:33make fun of us behind our backs? Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:37But yeah, so in in line with that and one of the reasons that
- 1:41we are here in in the PM instead of in the usual AM is we had to
- 1:47keep that streak alive because the streak right now is at 104
- 1:50episodes, which if you can math that is 2 years worth of weekly
- 1:56episodes. So.
- 1:58We're in the terrible twos now, Chris.
- 2:00It's means that we can throw tantrums, we can be completely
- 2:03unreasonable. Yeah, we do not want to go to
- 2:05bed on time, but we want to have a nap.
- 2:07I don't want to eat my vegetables clock.
- 2:09Every day. Consistently, as if on a
- 2:12schedule. Shit my pants.
- 2:14That's how you know, this is, you know, at the most opportune
- 2:20times possible. And I mean, it's it is time is a
- 2:23flat circle. And as we get older, yeah, we
- 2:25are going to have to deal with those things again.
- 2:27Yeah, it's, it's what goes around, comes back around and
- 2:30not necessarily in the way that we want them to, but, you know,
- 2:34it's, it's crazy. It's crazy to think that, you
- 2:37know, again, not neither one of us have been on every episode of
- 2:40this podcast. But I.
- 2:42Missed a couple. Yeah.
- 2:43I mean, it's fine, you know, I mean, you've still got me beat,
- 2:46but, you know, that's fine. We'll one day we'll catch up on
- 2:49the. Show there was there was going
- 2:50to have to work all the buttons that there was an episode that
- 2:53the one the one that pops into my mind is like there was an
- 2:55episode where like you were travelling and I was travelling
- 2:57and there was no way that we were going to be able to you
- 2:59know, hit one bullet with the other and try and get me in
- 3:03space and I was just in a hotel Oh man, where the hell I forgot
- 3:07even what town I was in where. Oh, you've already, you've
- 3:10already climaxed to the I don't know what town I'm in.
- 3:13I don't know what room I'm in. You're already there.
- 3:15I. Was in like San Francisco or
- 3:16something, but basically it was a laptop set up on the thing and
- 3:21it's dark in a room. And like I just kind of poured
- 3:23my heart into this stupid episode talking about this this
- 3:27terrible place that I used to work a long time ago.
- 3:30Not recently, this terrible place that I worked a long time
- 3:33ago. And you know where there's one
- 3:37job went off the rails and yeah, man, just I just needed to we
- 3:40couldn't let this end right. Like this is a lot like there's
- 3:45there's a famous baseball story. I don't know if it's true or sue
- 3:47me. When Cal Rican junior was going
- 3:50to trying to beat Lucard, right, that Iron Man streak.
- 3:53And there was there's this base that's going around Glee heat
- 3:57life sleeping with her. The game the Baltimore Orioles
- 4:01essentially faked the power outage at the stadium got on and
- 4:05said that Cali was not in the mental state to play baseball
- 4:07that night with the game and miss breaking the the streak
- 4:12record. Yeah if you look up like Cal
- 4:13Rustler there's a lot yeah it's it's it's know if it's true or
- 4:16not to believe that it is one of those wild ass but that's that's
- 4:20basically it's what that episode was.
- 4:22Oh man, I can't miss 1 is out here and throw don't work with
- 4:25any more of them. So go back and look, we're
- 4:28recording. And it was just doing the same
- 4:29thing for me too. Like you were cutting out and
- 4:32you were just like it was you were missing every other word
- 4:34and that kind of thing. So it might have just been, it's
- 4:36probably on my fucking side whatever anyway, but.
- 4:41OK. Anyway, here we go, technology.
- 4:43Here we go. If you can suffer through all of
- 4:44that and you, you, you continue to go and you can still
- 4:47listening. Stick it with us because we're
- 4:49going to make it happen. Yeah, right.
- 4:52And I mean, this might be completely unlistenable in the
- 4:54front of your car. Just just what we are going to.
- 4:58We're going to record it. And if it's slop, we're still
- 5:00going to put it in because that keeps the streak alive.
- 5:02That's here. We are keep the streak alive and
- 5:04it's our second year anniversary.
- 5:06So and you know, typical for our show it it might be a little
- 5:08banged up. We've had some audio challenges
- 5:10in the past. So let's let's see if we can,
- 5:13you know, power through and and keep it.
- 5:15Going So we've been we've. Been on a When you think about
- 5:18two years, yeah, when you think about two years and you think
- 5:21about all the things that we've talked about and I feel like,
- 5:24you know, we've maybe had some of the same conversations over
- 5:27and over again just made in different ways but you know,
- 5:32that's kind of what podcasts are about there's.
- 5:34Nothing new in this. Issue, I was thinking, no, I was
- 5:37thinking a little bit about some of the some of the the changes
- 5:43even that we've seen in the last two years in the industry.
- 5:46And you know, we talked a lot about convergence, we talked a
- 5:48lot about conglomeration, we talked a lot about fall off.
- 5:52I was thinking a little bit today on my drive home about
- 5:56what the next wave of integration in our industry
- 6:01looks like in terms of OK, we're, we're very clearly headed
- 6:05towards the lighting and shade and comfort business and the,
- 6:08the electrical contracting world and the low voltage custom
- 6:13integration world are running, you know, full speed at each
- 6:17other. I'm trying to think of the
- 6:20There's a spider Man villain that looks like a rhyme sort
- 6:22like a rhino. Yes, I'm trying to think his.
- 6:24Name is Rhino. His name is Rhino.
- 6:26Is that? What it is, Yeah.
- 6:27Jack Kirby wasn't very original when he drew that shit, but
- 6:30yeah, no, no, it's, it's Rhino, so yeah.
- 6:33Yeah, Rhino and Rhino are running at each other headlong
- 6:37and like you know, those are our two industries.
- 6:39But you know, I was thinking about kind of the swing again
- 6:43for what the next, you know, pass of entertainment or non
- 6:49furniture, non lifestyle, non lighting technology is going to
- 6:53look like. And I was really struggling to
- 6:57kind of come up with some some thoughts or some ideas.
- 7:00But then I kind of coalesced on some experience that I had here
- 7:05over the last couple of days, playing around with Dante and
- 7:09learning more about Dante and really what that could mean for
- 7:16the integration space. And I think maybe neither one of
- 7:19us are Dante experts, at least not yet.
- 7:22You're you're getting there. For sure, that's my job.
- 7:26But I, I, I kind of thought again, you know, to, to call out
- 7:31a, a product that you know, you, you know, the, the Southwest
- 7:34piece, Southwest 42, right. That's what it's called.
- 7:38Got got a chance to, to look and touch and, and you know,
- 7:42finesse, if you will, that piece in the real world and got to see
- 7:47that connected to our partner product at at Blaze with their
- 7:52Dante products and how that's all deployed.
- 7:56And it sort of brought me back to a spot where I was like, this
- 8:00is what, you know, the promise of decentralized AV looks like
- 8:04this is really delivering on some of those things that I
- 8:08thought maybe it might be good for you and I to kind of kick
- 8:11that around and talk a little bit about what Dante is and
- 8:13maybe what Dante isn't. I I had some misconceptions
- 8:17about kind of what it is and what it's not.
- 8:20And you being the expert more so than me, maybe send me up for
- 8:25failure. Can, can help, can help sort of
- 8:30illuminate some of that. Yeah.
- 8:31Take another vape. You'll be you'll be good.
- 8:35My 3D printer is right next to me so it's all micro plastics.
- 8:38It's all micro plastics that you're breathing in right now.
- 8:41So you're getting it on both ends.
- 8:43But the yeah, the the the thing that I learned that I, I guess I
- 8:48wasn't super sure about or didn't really know.
- 8:52And maybe we can queue this up as like the things that you know
- 8:55or didn't know about what Dante is sure.
- 8:57I guess I kind of didn't know. I had a misconception that it
- 9:01needed to maybe live, you know, in a residential setting at
- 9:04least maybe on a, on a subnet or on a maybe even a completely
- 9:07different network or required like a server or something like
- 9:11that. And I found out, I think pretty
- 9:13quickly that none of those things are true.
- 9:15No, I. Know so your, your realization
- 9:19was the same as mine. Like honestly, like that was
- 9:21that was kind of my impression. And like, I had done work in
- 9:24commercial spaces with Dante before and you're, you had the
- 9:28same realization as I did recently, you know, same thing.
- 9:32It's like, no, these things coexist.
- 9:33They can all, they can all roll together.
- 9:35Not a big deal. It's pretty wild.
- 9:37Yeah, that's that's pretty exciting.
- 9:39So for for anybody that's like a networking person out there, you
- 9:42know, if you're doing, we'll just say you've got a 192.1
- 9:46network, right? So you, you've got your 255
- 9:48addresses that are associated with that 1.2 or, you know,
- 9:52whatever it is, right? You know, one dot 1.168, blah,
- 9:56blah, blah. Like whatever your hexadecimal
- 9:58math is, you change that, you know, you change that third
- 10:01integer to A2 and now you've got 255 or 254, excuse me, usable
- 10:07addresses for streams or for content that you could park on
- 10:11the same network as the router or the switch or the whatever
- 10:13that you've got in your system and have that basically be a
- 10:17completely separate VLAN with its own data traffic.
- 10:20You can monitor it, you can, you know, ping it, you can talk to
- 10:22it. You can see what's going on.
- 10:24That just solely is doing your music streams or doing your
- 10:27video streams or doing whatever you're using Dante for.
- 10:31So that was kind of an aha for me.
- 10:34And if I'm if I misspeaking please please correct.
- 10:36Me No, no, I'm, I'm just, I'm letting you go because this is
- 10:39yeah, you're you're in it. And it almost seems like like
- 10:42once you learn, once you learn a lot more about it and like once
- 10:46you kind of immerse yourself in it, you know, and kind of get
- 10:49familiar with what it is and what it isn't, It's almost like
- 10:53a moment. And you're like, man, I've been
- 10:54doing this in residential for as long as Dante has been, right?
- 10:57Like, you know, think about all the, you know, think of audio
- 11:00matrices, right? Think about all of the, you're,
- 11:04you know, using balance to get audio back from ATV into your
- 11:08whole house audio system, right? And think about, you know,
- 11:12running, you know, mux lab balance and BLDBLRS audio
- 11:17control, you know, unbalancers and balancers and that kind of
- 11:20stuff. And we could have been using
- 11:22Dante's been around in commercial space for a long
- 11:25time, you know, for that kind of thing where you know, it's just
- 11:28it's, it's a good solution. You know, you kind of think
- 11:31about it and then and stop me, you know, stop me.
- 11:35If this wasn't your experience, you really start thinking about
- 11:37like, holy shit, this is, this is super powerful.
- 11:39This is like, I could literally, you know, put a Dante widget
- 11:43wherever I want it. I can, you know, I could pull
- 11:46multi track audio out of an E arc signal at whatever
- 11:51amplifiers I want in the house while also, you know, and
- 11:54compressed. It's completely, you know, you
- 11:57know, full digital fidelity. The clocks are all synced up so
- 12:01that you're not going to, you know, weird echoey bullshit.
- 12:04So you know, the, the, the use case is like, you know, master
- 12:07bedroom TV, you're pushing audio.
- 12:10You know, if if you're, you know, you're in your master
- 12:12bedroom, right, and you want to hear the master bedroom TV or
- 12:14master bath, that's a pretty common use case, right?
- 12:17So, you know, typically you could use, you know, you would
- 12:21send that signal and a log or whatever, you know, back down to
- 12:24the rack to the audio distribution system.
- 12:25And then it makes that route and it comes back.
- 12:27And now there's like, you know, there's a snout between your
- 12:29bathroom speakers and your TV that's on the other side of your
- 12:33master bedroom, right? Not a big deal if you're not
- 12:35looking at the picture. But as soon as you are, it's,
- 12:38it's horrible. You know, it's, it's very first
- 12:42of all problems, obviously, but you know, it's, it's, it's, it's
- 12:46an issue. It becomes more of an issue
- 12:48where, you know, you've got a surround sound system in in your
- 12:52space and you've got 7.1 and Atmos and everything else and
- 12:55you want to feed that audio to the bar, you know, which is, you
- 12:59know, yeah man, you don't have to down convert.
- 13:01You don't have to do anything weird.
- 13:02You can just here's this audio signal here's that audio signal.
- 13:06I can route it here. I can route it there.
- 13:07It's it starts to kind of fill you with like this of wow.
- 13:12I can you know, I can do so much with this right.
- 13:15Like I can, you know, I just plug this thing into the
- 13:18network. Jack works.
- 13:19Yeah. And that's the whole, the whole
- 13:21key thing about Dante is it's, it's synchronized clocks, right?
- 13:25Like there is a, there is a signal so that every piece of
- 13:28device if if you're familiar with like film and that kind of
- 13:31thing, time code is key, right? That syncs up the audio with the
- 13:34video, how many frames, how many whatever Dante is the same
- 13:38thing. It's got a there's a master
- 13:39clock. It synchronizes with all the
- 13:41constituent clocks. And that's how it knows what
- 13:43slow down audio here or here to to compensate for, you know,
- 13:48the, the distance instead of travelling and, and what it's
- 13:50doing. And yeah, man, it is pretty
- 13:52slick and it really makes you look at a lot of these products
- 13:56like, you know, matrix switchers and that kind of thing, you
- 13:59know, audio matrices and, and you're like, man, that can all
- 14:01be done in a piece of software. I don't.
- 14:05Even need right, I mean, depending you got the right
- 14:07gear, right, You like it's, you know, I think it's it's
- 14:10important to point out like it's not a control system.
- 14:13It's not it's not a true audio matrix, at least in from the
- 14:16standpoint of, you know, it's not MVX from Crestron, right,
- 14:20like it's not those things. So you you do have to have kind
- 14:23of an understanding of, hey, like these are my limitations
- 14:28without those kinds of products. Can you incorporate them, those
- 14:31with Dante? Absolutely.
- 14:33But like, to your point, like for the integrator, that's gets
- 14:36the question of, yeah, my client wants to have the game on in
- 14:39their house and they've got pool in the backyard or they've got
- 14:43a, you know, where I was out here, where we're at the lake
- 14:45house where they've got audio system outside.
- 14:48And maybe they've got boats and they've got some other stuff.
- 14:50They're goofing around in the water.
- 14:52And you know, the game just came on.
- 14:53We'd love to hear the audio from the TV out here in the backyard.
- 14:58And in a lot of cases in the old days, you'd fire up this, you
- 15:01know, you'd fire up your, you know what, your Zone 2 output or
- 15:05whatever. And you know, to pick the TV as
- 15:07a source, you mix all these things around.
- 15:09I mean, with with Dante, you can just basically have these
- 15:13presets and you know your, your ability to share those audio
- 15:17sources or video sources to other places with 0 latency bit
- 15:23perfect is a extremely powerful tool and extremely flexible
- 15:27tool. And the fact that the boxes are
- 15:29not, you know, 18 by whatever the standard width is, you know,
- 15:3417 1/2 by 8 by 14 deep or whatever, right.
- 15:38With the standard component, you've got something that really
- 15:42changes the, the nature of, of what integration means.
- 15:45And I think for the, for the AV people out there that are still
- 15:49looking to keep that as part of their bread and butter, that and
- 15:53it's not something that just, you know, Joe Schmuckatelli can
- 15:56go grab from the deli and slap into their system DIY.
- 15:59I mean, maybe they could, but they've got to be, and they've
- 16:02got to be network centric. They've got to be capable and
- 16:04understanding. But I mean that that ERC encoder
- 16:07to be able to share that stream to one Dante piece for a local
- 16:11source, but also be able to share that over multiple units
- 16:14on the same network. You know, maybe you've got
- 16:15multiple buildings on the same, you know, on the same network
- 16:19and or you're doing it Wi-Fi or you've got some, you know, some
- 16:23way to join these things together in an enterprise way.
- 16:26It's a lot easier to run a CAT5 in a piece of conduit than it is
- 16:29to like try to send a digital signal or, or an analog
- 16:32syncopated. So now you're connecting
- 16:34buildings over a single piece of stranded cable or twisted pair
- 16:38cable. Excuse me.
- 16:38And I mean talk about powerful interconnect and a way to
- 16:42deliver an experience that I don't think really has existed
- 16:45in at least in a residential space up until now.
- 16:47Very. Fun and it's it's a it is it's,
- 16:50it's super fun and what's cool is that it just is the
- 16:53limitations of your network, right and and that could be you
- 16:56know that could be as many feet as you want, right So if you're
- 17:00running fiber to your outbuildings, you got a building
- 17:03that's a quarter mile away, it can absolutely be part of that
- 17:06your main house with that the switch in the other house over
- 17:11fiber if you wish. And on the network, you know,
- 17:15it's another network device. If you got network connectivity,
- 17:17you've got and you can pick, you know, you could pick those
- 17:21streams out of thin air, right? So in other words, you know,
- 17:24you've got you've got access to whatever source you want.
- 17:26So if you got, again, we're talking about, you know,
- 17:29palatial estates here. But if you've got 15 TV's that
- 17:33all have that have a feed into Dante, you can pick any one of
- 17:37those 15 TV's and send out audio anywhere you want to without
- 17:40running into the limitation of, you know, analog jacks or
- 17:44matrices or whatever it is, right?
- 17:46You're not limited by 16 by 16 anymore and loop outs and that
- 17:49kind of thing. You can do 128 by 128 if you so
- 17:54desire, right. And you know, it's, it's pretty
- 17:57slick. It also kind of opens up the
- 17:59world because it came from commercial and because the stuff
- 18:02is used in use and commercial spaces and like having stuff and
- 18:05a lot of those things too. So, you know, we had a couple of
- 18:09projects out here in in California and Orange County
- 18:11where, you know, they would these folks had giant homes and
- 18:15they'd love to entertain and they would have, you know, a DJ
- 18:18come by. Well, if the DJ can just plug
- 18:19his board into a pair of XLRS, he can pipe his set throughout
- 18:24the house. You could also have a mixer and
- 18:27a microphone off of that if you wanted to do, you know,
- 18:31whatever. If you're, you know, if you're
- 18:33having an event in your yard and somebody's walking around with a
- 18:36microphone and you know they're MC dude, you can horse on the
- 18:39audios net anywhere you want to. You've got APA on your you're
- 18:45you're you're like presenting like you're, you know, Patrabet
- 18:48or you know, Pat Sajak yard like there's no there's no extra
- 18:51equipment to buy. You know, you're you're already
- 18:53there. And I think one of the things
- 18:55that I didn't offers out there for free, you go to the Autonate
- 18:59website, you can download the the Dante software and you can
- 19:03pull the network and you can look over all the things and
- 19:05it'll pull the network that you've got and it'll pull up all
- 19:07the devices. And you can, if you've got them
- 19:09named already or you can configure all that stuff.
- 19:11Like it really changes, I think the nature and the skill set for
- 19:15what, what integrators are doing.
- 19:18That's something that nobody's seeing right now, but it's
- 19:21basically like a like a pivot table where you've got your,
- 19:24your outputs devices streamed to there.
- 19:26Every time I want to see, you know, I've got this speaker, you
- 19:28know, this amp goes to this speaker or what you figured out
- 19:31in your mind. I mean, an extremely powerful,
- 19:35extremely flexible tool. And I'm really excited to see
- 19:38what the next five years brain space because I think that is
- 19:42the. Future.
- 19:43Where AV receivers kind of are going, right.
- 19:47I think that's where back into the realm of the residential
- 19:52space, you know, whether they're Genelecs or they're some other,
- 19:55you know, Dante enrolled categories for manufacturers as
- 19:58well as integrators to tap in and and bring solutions to
- 20:01client. 100% you know it's described as anywhere else is
- 20:08that it's a verdict right? Like Dante's just it's a patch
- 20:11bank and it's almost want and just there you can imagine BC to
- 20:16you know, there's annotators Erk to Dante, there's and and I
- 20:20mean, that's the ones that I make, you know, like that's and
- 20:23that this, you know, this show isn't necessarily a reward.
- 20:25For. It's, you know, yeah, this is.
- 20:29I'm really glad you looked. The commercial today.
- 20:31Happy. Anniversary Here's a commercial
- 20:33No. Here's a commercial for our two
- 20:35year anniversary where we talk about all the self-serving
- 20:37things that we really want to have happen, right?
- 20:40For our for our integration partners and for our for
- 20:43ourselves. Thankfully, we want everybody to
- 20:44adopt this stuff. So we've got new categories and
- 20:47new things to sell to people. Come on, let's go.
- 20:48Yeah, we, we really, yeah. We've just, we've exposed
- 20:50ourselves as shills and I promise in, you know, in we're
- 20:53not going to be sponsored or anything, even though it sounds
- 20:56like we probably are, but. Yeah, no, but but I think it's
- 21:00an important thing to talk about.
- 21:01I do think in our channel, because Dante is a, is a very
- 21:04common question. It's a very top topic.
- 21:07You know, it's a it's a often mentioned feature.
- 21:09I think it's not well understood and I'm still on the on the low
- 21:13end of the learning curve. But I was really excited to to
- 21:17kind of walk through all of the insurance and the outs and some
- 21:20of the capabilities there. And then when you look at what,
- 21:22what some amplifiers can do digitally to those streams with
- 21:26notch filters and and contouring for sound, like people kind of
- 21:31balk, I think at network audio like, oh, it's not high
- 21:34fidelity. It's not those things.
- 21:36I'm like it's. Uncompressed.
- 21:37Oh shit, it's uncompressed. I don't think you really know
- 21:40what, what you're what you're talking about because I mean, if
- 21:44you're, I mean, you can do like with this little tool.
- 21:47Hey, let me see like where the dashboard starts to wobble or
- 21:50where I need to slap dynamite to keep get house hits to 215.7
- 21:55Hertz. The light fixtures start to
- 21:57dance. They're not going to be able to
- 21:58hear that narrow bandwidth of, of drop out.
- 22:02But the the reality is you didn't hang us down.
- 22:04All you did was drag a fader down on a certain frequency and,
- 22:07and pull that down. So now all of a sudden I'm like
- 22:10that, right? Like there's not a lot you can
- 22:12do about subwoofers or or deep bass, but in terms of high
- 22:15frequency stuff, there's a a lot you can do to to and get rid of
- 22:18moating and stuff like that. So I was, you know, pretty
- 22:21excited to see the the the veil could really mean for for true
- 22:26audio files, for true custom integrators for guys and for
- 22:30neat flexibility that again, is lossless, is bit perfect, is
- 22:34time aligned. I'm not throw it out.
- 22:36There now it's I'm really happy you brought it up that if
- 22:39there's anything too sure of CI that's that's pretty a
- 22:42distribution at least in big homes, right.
- 22:46You know, kind of a kind of on this thing, right.
- 22:48Like it is remarkable because of time sinks and what you needed
- 22:51to do, you know, don't have more flexibility pretty slick.
- 22:54And again, it's network. That means you could use the
- 22:57device over Ethernet. You know, it's it's Dante plug
- 23:00NP, and these could be an amplifier.
- 23:03This could be that could be you don't need plug free arc to does
- 23:07it's powered with and it's all centrally network.
- 23:09It's all whatever. But yeah, I think you're right.
- 23:12As future technologies go on, you know balls, I think that's
- 23:16Dante for audio edition something I think we're going to
- 23:18especially with fires things and more in the challengery, like,
- 23:22you know, like the pulled off of our this is something that we
- 23:25even really had into pretty recent and I would custom
- 23:29integrated probably isn't even on their map.
- 23:31So it was similar something called which is format.
- 23:35It doesn't happens that that Dante does or, you know, AES 6
- 23:38the initial spec or whatever. You know, savant did something
- 23:41like it proprietary switch. You know, it wasn't a straight,
- 23:46but this is going to breakthrough that back.
- 23:48You know you're going to see it. More stuff with a Dante end,
- 23:53less wires. The pool makes it easier, you
- 23:54know. Yeah, I think, you know, the,
- 23:58the fact that there's there's going to continue to be a a
- 24:01lifeblood for, for wired, you know, connections and or, but
- 24:06you know, the the reality of, of the the changes in our industry
- 24:10are reflected in that. And I you know, I would have
- 24:13never thought that in the on a network switch.
- 24:15I, I never really, I honestly never really gave that a whole
- 24:18lot of credence and I have to, so I can, you know, chew that
- 24:22down because I would have swore that, you know, and if it is,
- 24:26it'll sound like crap. And I think I've been proven
- 24:28wrong on every one of those freakins.
- 24:30I'm I'm happy to be proven that. It's kind of.
- 24:34This isn't actually true. You you you feel this way, but
- 24:36you know it. It works in live sound.
- 24:38It works in commercial spaces. A Rob and Shirley's, you know,
- 24:42boathouse or whatever, you know whatever we're working on this a
- 24:45new Ave. for for revenue. It opens up a new skill set and
- 24:48it is not something that, you know, with AV receivers, but
- 24:52most people can plug in an HDMI cable.
- 24:54This makes it much more specialized.
- 24:56This makes it much more custom and offer solutions that, you
- 25:00know, I think in the past have been kind of talked about, but
- 25:03not really, really cluesy in a situation where you've got
- 25:08again, a clock that's telling everybody this time, right?
- 25:12That's that's something that's way more capable than an E did
- 25:16say fussy about, you know, syncs and what what's the end point
- 25:20going to be and what's that residue?
- 25:21You know, go, go to this, you know, URL or go to this IP
- 25:25address and this is where the the stream is, you know, for,
- 25:28for anybody that doesn't know what we're talking about, again,
- 25:30I would encourage you guys to look at look at what that
- 25:34flexibility looks like on a large scale commercial.
- 25:38I've got an ERC encoder and I've got a box here that can do some
- 25:42video switching that I need to feed some other amps in the
- 25:45house or, you know, another solution in the house.
- 25:47And now your components go down to or of that system goes up
- 25:50exponentially because you're not limited to physical and you
- 25:54know, your centralized system kind of comes back around and
- 25:58becomes cool again I'm I guess around the 1st circle so.
- 26:01For for sure, yeah, absolutely. And, and and it's super
- 26:05flexible, right? Like this is, you know, this is
- 26:09everything that you could ever want in audio distribution.
- 26:11The name of this podcast is the Dante After Dark podcast I work
- 26:14at. Right.
- 26:16I mean, yeah, that here we are. Happy anniversary, here's a
- 26:19commercial and you know, we're Shields now, so you.
- 26:23Know that's. That's that's working out for
- 26:24us. But, you know, we, we should be
- 26:26drinking, you know, maybe that's why we're having technical
- 26:28problems. We got, yeah, I shouldn't have
- 26:30spilled all that, like around my laptop, yeah.
- 26:32Exactly. That's probably not the best
- 26:34thing for the electronics or you know, whatever.
- 26:36Sure. Right.
- 26:37No. But so, yeah, thanks for joining
- 26:41us and we'll see you next time. OK, keep your fingers crossed.
- 26:44If this worked, everybody take care.
- 26:46Bye bye.
