Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome, it is Verdict with Ted Cruz, Week in Review,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Ben Ferguson with you, and these are the stories that
- 0:05Speaker 1: you may have missed that we talked about this week.
- 0:07Speaker 1: First up, there was big news this week when it
- 0:10Speaker 1: comes to Venezuela oil and what it could mean for America.
- 0:14Speaker 1: So how good is the deal? And are there concerns
- 0:17Speaker 1: about what actually this means moving forward? Senator Cruz and
- 0:20Speaker 1: I break that down for you. Up next, there's a
- 0:23Speaker 1: major Senate race in Texas. James Tallarico is wanting you
- 0:27Speaker 1: to believe that he's normal, but his words from the past,
- 0:30Speaker 1: especially the ones he's deleted, well, they're coming back to
- 0:34Speaker 1: haunt him, and we have the receipts. And finally, as
- 0:37Speaker 1: we're getting very close to the anniversary of 9-11, we're
- 0:40Speaker 1: now learning exactly what El-Said is going to be doing,
- 0:43Speaker 1: and it is going to shock you. It's The Weekend Review,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and it starts right now. I want to move center
- 0:49Speaker 1: to another issue real quick, which has had a lot
- 0:52Speaker 1: of big breaking news over the weekend. And that was
- 0:54Speaker 1: the president of the United States of America announcing a
- 0:56Speaker 1: historic deal with a massive amount of oil on True Social.
- 1:00Speaker 1: The president saying, we've got this deal now with Venezuela.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It is going to be huge for not just America,
- 1:06Speaker 1: but the world. And the price of gas could go
- 1:08Speaker 1: down significantly for Americans. Talk about what this is and
- 1:11Speaker 1: what it means.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Well, this week, President Trump announced a new deal with Venezuela,
- 1:15Speaker 2: a deal for 65 billion barrels of oil. That is
- 1:20Speaker 2: a massive amount of oil. Venezuela has the largest proven
- 1:24Speaker 2: reserves of any country on earth. And this is a
- 1:27Speaker 2: deal that will be funded by a private company, but
- 1:31Speaker 2: with the U.S. government as a major investor in the company,
- 1:35Speaker 2: and under the terms that was announced, that company will
- 1:38Speaker 2: have access to to the oil at cost, and the U.S.
- 1:42Speaker 2: government is taking an equity position and will get the
- 1:45Speaker 2: upsides in terms of the profits from that oil. I
- 1:49Speaker 2: will say, as we're talking about this right now, the
- 1:51Speaker 2: full details of the deal are still somewhat opaque. It
- 1:55Speaker 2: is difficult to know exactly what's going on. My reactions initially,
- 2:00Speaker 2: number one, 65 billion barrels of oil is a big deal.
- 2:02Speaker 2: That is a lot of oil in a massive amount and,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and the United States getting access to that, that's good
- 2:11Speaker 2: for American jobs. It's good for the economy and it's
- 2:14Speaker 2: also good in the longterm for gasoline prices. Although to
- 2:17Speaker 2: be fair, do not expect this to have an immediate
- 2:20Speaker 2: impact on gasoline prices. It will still take years or
- 2:24Speaker 2: even decades to build up the infrastructure to produce all.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Of that oil.
- 2:27Speaker 2: So that will not happen overnight. Um, That being said,
- 2:33Speaker 2: there are also significant concerns being raised. Number one, this
- 2:36Speaker 2: is a deal that was cut with Delcy Rodriguez, who
- 2:38Speaker 2: is the interim president of Venezuela. She was Nicolas Maduro's
- 2:43Speaker 2: vice president. She is a communist. She is a Marxist.
- 2:46Speaker 2: She has a long history of being viciously anti-American. Maduro
- 2:50Speaker 2: was illegitimate and Delcy Rodriguez is illegitimate. Neither one of
- 2:55Speaker 2: them were elected by the people. And the Trump administration
- 2:59Speaker 2: has kept Delcy in for a period of time during transition.
- 3:03Speaker 2: What I've been saying consistently is there need to be
- 3:05Speaker 2: free and fair elections. Let the people of Venezuela choose
- 3:08Speaker 2: who their leadership is rather than maintaining someone illegitimate. I
- 3:12Speaker 2: still think that's the right decision. I certainly don't want
- 3:16Speaker 2: this oil deal to somehow... push off the notion that
- 3:20Speaker 2: the people of Venezuela get to elect their own leaders.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I don't think we should be maintaining anti-American communists in
- 3:28Speaker 2: power against the wishes of the people who elected them.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I'll say secondly, we are hearing concerns from some, particularly
- 3:36Speaker 2: in the oil and gas business. So Chevron is anticipating
- 3:39Speaker 2: putting and is contemplating at least putting billions of dollars
- 3:42Speaker 2: of investment into Venezuela. They already have significant investments in Venezuela.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And I got to say, if you're an American company,
- 3:49Speaker 2: the prospect of competing against another company that is business
- 3:55Speaker 2: partners with the federal government, the U.S. government, and that
- 3:58Speaker 2: has a special deal with the Venezuelan government, that's going
- 4:02Speaker 2: to make you as a private company pause and say, wait,
- 4:05Speaker 2: is this a fair playing field? Can I compete here?
- 4:09Speaker 2: And so how that's worked out, it's unclear at this point,
- 4:12Speaker 2: but those are a concern a number in the energy
- 4:15Speaker 2: world are raising, and I think those are reasonable concerns
- 4:17Speaker 2: to ask. There is also the longer-term concern that this
- 4:22Speaker 2: deal is being done through the Office of Strategic Capital
- 4:26Speaker 2: at the Department of War, and it is being done
- 4:29Speaker 2: in exchange for equity ownership in the company. We've talked
- 4:33Speaker 2: before on this podcast how I am very uncomfortable with
- 4:38Speaker 2: this administration's taking equity positions in lots and lots of companies.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I think that is a very bad precedent. I think
- 4:45Speaker 2: it puts us on a slippery slope. They started it
- 4:47Speaker 2: with Intel taking a big equity position in Intel. Look,
- 4:53Speaker 2: if you look at the definition of socialism, socialism is
- 4:56Speaker 2: government ownership of the means of production or distribution in
- 4:59Speaker 2: an economy. If the federal government starts taking a major
- 5:03Speaker 2: equity position and just– Can.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You say that again? Because that is the warning. That
- 5:06Speaker 1: is the warning that people need to hear and why
- 5:09Speaker 1: you're saying when the U.S. government starts getting into these businesses,
- 5:12Speaker 1: these private businesses and ownership positions, at first it can
- 5:16Speaker 1: sound great, but this goes back to– when we had
- 5:18Speaker 1: the big fall in 2008 at Lehman Brothers, and should
- 5:21Speaker 1: America take equity positions in these companies? And it was
- 5:24Speaker 1: a grand economic debate. But say that statement again, because
- 5:27Speaker 1: this is what you mean when you say the slippery slope,
- 5:29Speaker 1: that if we start this, what does it end with?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Does it end with government ownership in the biggest sectors,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and then we, as Americans, are dependent on the government,
- 5:37Speaker 1: not the private sector anymore?
- 5:38Speaker 2: So the textbook definition of socialism is government ownership or control.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Of the means of production or distribution in an economy.
- 5:49Speaker 2: At the end of the day, if we end up
- 5:51Speaker 2: with the federal government having equity shares, ownership stakes in
- 5:56Speaker 2: the biggest companies of America, that is socialism. It is
- 6:00Speaker 2: the definition of socialism. And there's a combination of, number one,
- 6:04Speaker 2: you look at what China does, where the Chinese government
- 6:07Speaker 2: and every company in China has what's called the golden share.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And the golden share gives them the ability to control
- 6:12Speaker 2: the companies. It makes every company an arm of the government.
- 6:16Speaker 2: That ain't good. I don't want every company in America
- 6:19Speaker 2: to be an arm of the federal government. And you
- 6:21Speaker 2: may think it's great when it's Donald Trump. But you
- 6:24Speaker 2: know what? Donald Trump is not going to be the
- 6:26Speaker 2: last president. And it ain't nearly that great if it's
- 6:29Speaker 2: President Elizabeth Warren or President AOC or whatever communist comes next.
- 6:35Speaker 2: And so I think it is a very, very dangerous proposition.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And I'll tell you, President Trump and I have discussed
- 6:41Speaker 2: this multiple times. What I am urging him to do
- 6:46Speaker 2: is to take these equity positions that they have taken
- 6:50Speaker 2: and before he leaves office, put them directly into the
- 6:54Speaker 2: Trump accounts of 70 million kids, transfer them out of
- 6:56Speaker 2: the federal government, And send them to the children of
- 7:00Speaker 2: America instead so that that way you have America with
- 7:03Speaker 2: a widespread investment in the companies of America, but you
- 7:06Speaker 2: don't have the government having the ability to control those companies,
- 7:10Speaker 2: having the ability to dictate. And by the way, think
- 7:13Speaker 2: about how a left-wing president would use that equity share.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Share.
- 7:18Speaker 2: You know, think how bad woke was now. Imagine a president,
- 7:22Speaker 2: Elizabeth Warren telling every company, we own 10% of your company.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Let me tell you right now, you've got a higher 20%, uh,
- 7:29Speaker 2: transgender left-handed witches, uh, non-binary bubble, like that's giving government
- 7:37Speaker 2: power over the private sector is a really dangerous road
- 7:43Speaker 2: to be on. And, and, and, and so I am
- 7:47Speaker 2: encouraged that we have a deal to access a massive
- 7:51Speaker 2: amount of oil that for energy and jobs is good.
- 7:55Speaker 2: But there are also some dangerous aspects here that we
- 7:57Speaker 2: need to be cautious about and we need to think
- 8:00Speaker 2: carefully through where this goes going forward.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
- 8:07Speaker 1: from earlier this week. Now on to story number two.
- 8:11Speaker 1: All right, Senator, I want to pivot real quick and
- 8:13Speaker 1: move to James Tallarico. He'd be the perfect candidate for
- 8:18Speaker 1: California for Senate. He's running, though, in Texas. And there's
- 8:22Speaker 1: those Zoom meetings, and they're coming out of what he
- 8:26Speaker 1: actually believes and what he's actually said. And it's a
- 8:29Speaker 1: really bad look, especially in Texas.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Well, I got to say, it is a sharp contrast
- 8:35Speaker 2: to what we talked about in the first part of
- 8:36Speaker 2: the pod, was the Trump accounts and capitalism and creating
- 8:39Speaker 2: a whole new generation of capitalists, and that's... I am
- 8:42Speaker 2: a die-hard, unapologetic capitalist. I believe that if people are
- 8:46Speaker 2: invested in the future of America, that's good for everyone. Well,
- 8:49Speaker 2: it turns out James Tallarico believes exactly the opposite, and
- 8:53Speaker 2: he's running for Senate. It's a very close race in Texas.
- 8:55Speaker 2: He's not going to win. Ken Paxton's going to be
- 8:57Speaker 2: the next senator from Texas, because... James Tallarico is a radical.
- 9:03Speaker 2: He's extreme. Now, he's trying to hide that. He's trying
- 9:05Speaker 2: to pretend that he's somehow middle of the road. This
- 9:08Speaker 2: is a guy who says God is non-binary. This is
- 9:10Speaker 2: a guy who says there are six genders, whatever the
- 9:14Speaker 2: hell those six are. But this week, there's a video
- 9:18Speaker 2: that was unearthed where a few years back, James Tallarico
- 9:21Speaker 2: was on a Zoom call with a bunch of Sierra
- 9:24Speaker 2: Club activists. I want you to listen to what Tallarico said.
- 9:28Speaker 2: This is in his own words, him speaking. to radical
- 9:30Speaker 2: left-wing activists just a few years ago in 2020?
- 9:34Speaker 4: The multifaceted threat of a climate crisis, an economic crisis,
- 9:40Speaker 4: and a social justice crisis, I think that kind of
- 9:45Speaker 4: New Deal effort would be the only approach to start
- 9:48Speaker 4: to address all three in a thoughtful and meaningful way.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Thank you very much. The second question, communities of color
- 9:57Speaker 3: receive the most harm from the impacts of climate change
- 10:01Speaker 3: and yet receive the least government support to deal with it.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Tell us about one of the committees you are on
- 10:08Speaker 3: or hope to be on and the most important actions
- 10:11Speaker 3: that committee could take to fight for climate justice and
- 10:14Speaker 3: mitigate the impacts of climate change for all Texans.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm I am so thankful that you asked
- 10:21Speaker 4: this question and also thankful that young activists have really
- 10:25Speaker 4: drawn the link between climate change and white supremacy and
- 10:28Speaker 4: capitalism in our country. And I think only in the
- 10:32Speaker 4: ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together
- 10:35Speaker 4: are we going to be able to begin the process
- 10:36Speaker 4: of dismantling them.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Dismantling. That word, if you didn't hear it, he just
- 10:41Speaker 1: talked about dismantling what makes this country this country.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Well, what he specifically said is he said capitalism... climate change,
- 10:50Speaker 2: and white supremacy are all linked together. They are all
- 10:55Speaker 2: three systems of oppression, and he wants to dismantle all three. Now, again,
- 11:03Speaker 2: you mentioned he'd be a great Senate candidate in California. Sadly,
- 11:06Speaker 2: that is probably the case. But he ain't a great
- 11:10Speaker 2: candidate in Texas, because there are very few Texans who
- 11:13Speaker 2: want to dismantle capitalism that's in his own words that's
- 11:16Speaker 2: not me speaking for him that's what he's saying he
- 11:19Speaker 2: wants to do and by the way yeah in that
- 11:21Speaker 2: same conversation uh he said the oil and gas industry
- 11:26Speaker 2: is going to go away and he says that that
- 11:29Speaker 2: that that texas's leadership of the oil and gas industry
- 11:33Speaker 2: he said is like quote being a leader in cassette
- 11:36Speaker 2: tapes in the 1980s that industry is not going to
- 11:40Speaker 2: last so he wants oil and gas to go away
- 11:44Speaker 2: which would destroy millions of jobs in the state of Texas.
- 11:48Speaker 2: And by the way, would massively benefit communist China. And
- 11:52Speaker 2: Tallarico has also voted to allow communist China to buy
- 11:56Speaker 2: hundreds of thousands of acres of Texas land, including land
- 12:00Speaker 2: next to military bases in Texas. So he wants to
- 12:05Speaker 2: end oil and gas in Texas and dismantle capitalism. Well, listen,
- 12:10Speaker 2: comrade Tallarico. I get in the woke circles you run in,
- 12:15Speaker 2: where when you say, God is non-binary, people clap and go,
- 12:20Speaker 2: oh yes, oh yes, so nice. Remember, Tallarico is also
- 12:23Speaker 2: the guy who declared his campaign was going to be
- 12:26Speaker 2: vegan because meat is destroying the world. This is a
- 12:32Speaker 2: woke radical, and the media is deeply invested in making
- 12:36Speaker 2: sure you don't know that. So This portion of the podcast, look,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I'm going to ask everyone to share this podcast, but
- 12:43Speaker 2: especially the video. Watch Tallarico in his own words, and
- 12:48Speaker 2: he thinks he's just talking to left-wing radicals. So on
- 12:51Speaker 2: the campaign trail today, he's not admitting he wants to
- 12:54Speaker 2: dismantle capitalism. That's just what he tells the radicals, the
- 12:58Speaker 2: DSA nuts who elected Mondami, who are supporting El-Said. That
- 13:03Speaker 2: is James Tallarico's base. And it's why he's going to
- 13:06Speaker 2: lose this Senate race in Texas, because we don't want
- 13:09Speaker 2: a nutcase who wants to dismantle capitalism. We want capitalism
- 13:13Speaker 2: to grow. We want free enterprise. And we want every
- 13:16Speaker 2: American to be an investor invested in capitalism, invested in
- 13:19Speaker 2: the future of our country.
- 13:20Speaker 1: As before, if you want to hear the rest of
- 13:22Speaker 1: this conversation on this topic, you can go back and
- 13:25Speaker 1: download the podcast from early this week to hear the
- 13:28Speaker 1: entire thing. I want to get back to the big story,
- 13:32Speaker 1: number three of the week you may have missed. All right, Senator,
- 13:34Speaker 1: let's get into Abdul El-Said. He is going to join
- 13:38Speaker 1: a panel. And the anniversary, an important anniversary, the 25th
- 13:44Speaker 1: anniversary of 9-11 is coming up. He is going to
- 13:46Speaker 1: join a panel with 9-11 conspiracy theorists at an Islamic convention. Now,
- 13:54Speaker 1: this convention clearly is being done just days before the
- 13:57Speaker 1: 9-11 anniversary.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Obviously, they chose that on purpose.
- 14:01Speaker 1: But I cannot believe that more are not talking about
- 14:05Speaker 1: the Democratic Michigan Senate nominee and what he is scheduled
- 14:10Speaker 1: to speak at and who's around him.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Well, I've got to say it. The Democrats running for
- 14:15Speaker 2: Senate across the country seem to be competing with each
- 14:17Speaker 2: other in terms of who can be more radical, more extreme,
- 14:20Speaker 2: more out of the mainstream. On Wednesday's podcast, we covered
- 14:23Speaker 2: James Tallarico, the extreme left-wing Democrat running for Senate in Texas.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And in particular, we uncovered the Zoom call he did
- 14:33Speaker 2: six years ago with left-wing activists from the Sierra Club
- 14:36Speaker 2: where he pledged to, quote, dismantle capitalism. these guys are
- 14:42Speaker 2: radicals and extreme. Well, Abdul Al-Sayed basically said to Telerico,
- 14:47Speaker 2: hold my beer, I can be more extreme than you can.
- 14:51Speaker 2: And the story you just noted, so this coming week
- 14:56Speaker 2: is the 25th anniversary of September 11th. That was the
- 14:59Speaker 2: most horrific terror attack on the homeland in American history.
- 15:04Speaker 2: And instead of honoring that attack instead of honoring the
- 15:10Speaker 2: nearly 3,000 lives that were taken that day, Abdul El-Sayed
- 15:15Speaker 2: is speaking at an Islamic conference that is essentially defending
- 15:20Speaker 2: the attackers. Here, I'm going to read to you a
- 15:21Speaker 2: story from the Washington Free Beacon. Democratic Senator, Michigan Senate
- 15:26Speaker 2: nominee Abdul El-Sayed is scheduled to speak at an Islamic
- 15:28Speaker 2: convention this weekend, six days before the 25th anniversary of 9-11.
- 15:33Speaker 2: On a panel alongside a quote 9-11 truther, and a
- 15:38Speaker 2: Muslim cleric conspiracy theorist who has called for an examination
- 15:44Speaker 2: of the official narrative surrounding the terrorist attacks. El-Sayed is
- 15:48Speaker 2: headlining the Islamic Society of North America's annual convention in
- 15:52Speaker 2: Detroit on Saturday. There, El-Sayed will speak on a panel
- 15:56Speaker 2: to examine a, quote, turmoiled America alongside left-wing pundits Sent
- 16:01Speaker 2: Uygur and Zaid Shakir, an outspoken New Jersey-based cleric. Both
- 16:09Speaker 2: men have promoted conspiracy theories surrounding 9-11, in which al-Qaeda
- 16:13Speaker 2: operatives killed 2,977 Americans. Quote, I no longer believe the
- 16:21Speaker 2: official 9-11 story, Ugyur declared in a social media rant
- 16:26Speaker 2: in February. Ugyur, who hosts the Young Turks YouTube show,
- 16:31Speaker 2: is now pushing debunked claims about Israeli involvement. Because, of course,
- 16:34Speaker 2: Israel is the one that committed 9-11. Don't you know that?
- 16:36Speaker 2: I mean, these guys are radicals and kooks. including the, quote,
- 16:42Speaker 2: dancing Israelis myth, an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that posits that
- 16:46Speaker 2: five Israeli spies filmed and celebrated the terrorist attack. Quote,
- 16:50Speaker 2: I didn't know we arrested Israeli spies who were here
- 16:53Speaker 2: to document the event, wrote Ugyur, who is the uncle.
- 16:57Speaker 2: of Hassan Piker, a close al-Said ally who has said
- 17:01Speaker 2: that America deserved 9-11. Boy, I didn't know that. Did
- 17:03Speaker 2: you know that Cenk Uygur is the uncle of Hassan Piker?
- 17:08Speaker 1: You know what? I did know that, only because I've
- 17:10Speaker 1: had to deal with him so many times. You know,
- 17:13Speaker 1: he had to go on Piers Morgan's show and do
- 17:15Speaker 1: a mea culpa after losing it when he was debating
- 17:17Speaker 1: me recently over the issue of Israel, oddly enough. because
- 17:21Speaker 1: he's absolutely obsessed with Israel and anyone that supports Israel.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And this is where the hate comes from within the
- 17:27Speaker 1: Democratic Party. You can, by the way, that clip when
- 17:30Speaker 1: it went completely viral, Piers brought him back to try
- 17:32Speaker 1: to rehabilitate himself, and then he doubled down on it,
- 17:35Speaker 1: which was even funnier.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Well, Hassan Piker, who's campaigned alongside Abdul Al-Sayed, said America
- 17:42Speaker 2: deserved 9-11. He's the nephew of Sanko Yerhu, who now
- 17:46Speaker 2: Abdul Al-Sayed is sitting on the panel with. Ogier was
- 17:49Speaker 2: widely mocked, as one outlet described it, for going full
- 17:52Speaker 2: 9-11 truther. Similarly, Shakir has called for a, quote, examination
- 17:58Speaker 2: of what he describes as glaring weaknesses and inconsistencies in
- 18:02Speaker 2: the official 9-11 narrative. He has argued that the U.S.
- 18:05Speaker 2: government used the attacks to, quote, launch a war on Islam,
- 18:08Speaker 2: and he directed followers to the writing of David Ray Giffen,
- 18:11Speaker 2: a leading 9-11 conspiracy theorist, who has argued that the
- 18:14Speaker 2: United States orchestrated the attacks. Look, these people are kooks.
- 18:17Speaker 2: This guy is standing there going, oh yeah, the American
- 18:19Speaker 2: government is the one that knocked down the World Trade Center.
- 18:22Speaker 2: The American government's the one that attacked the Pentagon. But
- 18:25Speaker 2: they're not just kooks. It's not just crazy. It's not
- 18:28Speaker 2: just thinking you see little green men. It is anti-American
- 18:32Speaker 2: conspiracy theories that always, always, always blame America and always, always,
- 18:37Speaker 2: always apologize for radical Islamic terrorists who are murdering Americans.
- 18:41Speaker 4: It is.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Conspiracy theory with an ideological bite to it. And look,
- 18:54Speaker 2: in a September 11th, 2012 essay for CNN that called Muslims, quote,
- 18:59Speaker 2: another victim of 9-11, El-Sayed cited a study conducted in
- 19:04Speaker 2: California that found a dramatic increase in premature births for
- 19:08Speaker 2: Muslim women after 9-11 compared to before the attacks. El-Sayed
- 19:13Speaker 2: omitted from his essay the findings of his own study
- 19:15Speaker 2: comparing birth outcomes for Muslim women before and after 9-11,
- 19:20Speaker 2: which found no difference in premature births. Shakir, in addition
- 19:25Speaker 2: to propagating 9-11 conspiracy theories, has blamed Israel for other
- 19:28Speaker 2: terrorist attacks and called for Muslims to, quote, use guerrilla
- 19:33Speaker 2: warfare to achieve their desired political outcomes. In a 1992 treatise,
- 19:40Speaker 2: Shakir argued for Muslims to embrace, quote, extra-systemic political action
- 19:46Speaker 2: ranging from, quote, non-cooperative tactics. to guerrilla war in order
- 19:52Speaker 2: to influence government policies or eradicate the system altogether. Shakir
- 19:57Speaker 2: asserted that every major Muslim political gain in modern history
- 20:01Speaker 2: was brought about through such action and cited the creation
- 20:05Speaker 2: of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the, quote, armed
- 20:08Speaker 2: struggle of that led to the Taliban control of Afghanistan.
- 20:11Speaker 2: So understand this. Abdul Al-Sayed is sitting next to a
- 20:14Speaker 2: guy who thinks it's great that the Ayatollah carried out
- 20:19Speaker 2: a revolution in Iran and took Americans hostage for 444
- 20:23Speaker 2: days and waged war against America for 47 years. He
- 20:25Speaker 2: thinks it's great that the Taliban took control of Afghanistan
- 20:28Speaker 2: and oppressed women and enforced Sharia law on everyone. And
- 20:31Speaker 2: by the way, coddled and nurtured Al-Qaeda, which launched 9-11.
- 20:35Speaker 2: These are the radicals and This is who El-Sayed is
- 20:42Speaker 2: associating with on the anniversary of 9-11. This is who
- 20:46Speaker 2: the man is. When he tells you who he is,
- 20:48Speaker 2: believe him.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Who is putting on this conference where El-Sayed is going
- 20:53Speaker 1: to be hanging out with these conspiracy theorists on the,
- 20:56Speaker 1: basically on the 25th anniversary of 9-11?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Well, it's a group that's called the Islamic Society of
- 21:01Speaker 2: North America. And it was founded, do you know who
- 21:04Speaker 2: one of the founders was?
- 21:06Speaker 1: Who is it?
- 21:07Speaker 2: Abdul El-Sayed's father-in-law. So his father-in-law was one of the
- 21:11Speaker 2: founders of this organization. By the way, his father-in-law is
- 21:14Speaker 2: also the single largest donor to Abdul Al-Sayed's super PAC.
- 21:19Speaker 2: So this is a man who's funding his campaign. And
- 21:23Speaker 2: what is the Islamic Society of North America? Well, it
- 21:26Speaker 2: is a group with extensive ties to the Muslim Brotherhood,
- 21:29Speaker 2: which is a terrorist organization. It's been designated by the U.S.
- 21:32Speaker 2: government as a terrorist organization. It's been designated by Egypt
- 21:36Speaker 2: and Saudi Arabia and the UAE as a terrorist organization.
- 21:39Speaker 2: And the Islamic Society of North America is closely affiliated
- 21:41Speaker 2: with the Muslim Brotherhood, so closely that the Islamic Society
- 21:45Speaker 2: of North America was named an unindicted co-conspirator in a
- 21:51Speaker 2: 2008 Hamas fundraising case, the Holy Land case. This is,
- 21:57Speaker 2: and by the way, that was a case where millions
- 22:00Speaker 2: of dollars had been funneled from Americans to fund Hamas
- 22:04Speaker 2: and to fund terror attacks. The group, who's an unindicted
- 22:08Speaker 2: co-conspirator in that, is who is hosting Abdul Al-Sayed. By
- 22:12Speaker 2: the way, another speaker at the conference is a Texas-based
- 22:16Speaker 2: cleric named Yassir Qadi, who has called the Holocaust a hoax.
- 22:22Speaker 2: These are not mainstream. These are not normal people. These
- 22:24Speaker 2: are radicals. And I want to note also, do you
- 22:26Speaker 2: know who used to be on the agenda? He's not
- 22:28Speaker 2: going to be on the agenda, but he was originally.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Who was that?
- 22:32Speaker 2: A Pakistani cleric named Tariq Masood. He was scheduled to
- 22:37Speaker 2: appear at the event. And he admitted to forcing his
- 22:42Speaker 2: 13-year-old niece into marriage in compliance with what he believed
- 22:49Speaker 2: was Islamic law. And he's been accused of pedophilic rhetoric
- 22:54Speaker 2: and marriage with her own family. And he argued that
- 22:57Speaker 2: Muslims should marry their 13-year-old nieces and nephews and their
- 23:03Speaker 2: family and should essentially rape children. So this Pakistani cleric
- 23:08Speaker 2: was on the agenda, and actually Verdict covered this. We
- 23:12Speaker 2: covered this in a previous pod, and we said Abdul
- 23:14Speaker 2: Al-Sayed is speaking alongside this person who quite openly bragged
- 23:20Speaker 2: about pressuring his 13-year-old niece, forcing her into marriage, and
- 23:23Speaker 2: said this was a good thing, and Abdul al-Sayed's defense
- 23:27Speaker 2: at the time was, well, yeah, we're both speaking at
- 23:29Speaker 2: the same conference, but we're on different panels. I'm not
- 23:32Speaker 2: speaking on the same panel with him. He's on a
- 23:33Speaker 2: different panel. The public outcry was so great that they
- 23:37Speaker 2: canceled the cleric Tariq Massoud, but you know what? Abdul
- 23:40Speaker 2: al-Sayed is still speaking there with every other conspiracy theorist,
- 23:44Speaker 2: and being an anti-American, Holocaust-denying, 9-11 truther, Hamas and al-Qaeda
- 23:52Speaker 2: defending zealot and Islamist, well, that is apparently a very
- 23:56Speaker 2: popular thing in the Democrat Party right now. Yeah, it really,
- 23:59Speaker 2: really is.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And this, again, goes back to the civil war that
- 24:03Speaker 1: we're witnessing right now in the Democratic Party. It's really funny,
- 24:06Speaker 1: by the way, and I want to get your reaction
- 24:08Speaker 1: to this. You had some Democrats come out and say
- 24:12Speaker 1: that Hassan Piker and Al Saeed basically need to get
- 24:14Speaker 1: out of the Democratic Party, that they're not stop using
- 24:17Speaker 1: the word Democrat with Socialists of America. James Carville came
- 24:21Speaker 1: out and said that. I kind of laughed at his
- 24:23Speaker 1: meltdown because it's only because they're afraid they're going to
- 24:27Speaker 1: lose that they're now saying this. They did not keep
- 24:30Speaker 1: any of these crazies in check. And now he's like,
- 24:32Speaker 1: get out of my party. You know, quit using the
- 24:36Speaker 1: name Democratic. Just be a socialist if you're going to
- 24:38Speaker 1: be a socialist. And my response would be, well, then
- 24:40Speaker 1: why did you allow them to run in the Democratic
- 24:43Speaker 1: primaries if you're now claiming that they are not Democrats?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Look, they're taking over the Democrat Party, and it is–
- 24:53Speaker 2: It's clear that not every Democrat in the Senate or
- 24:56Speaker 2: House is a Marxist or an Islamist, but every one
- 25:00Speaker 2: of them is terrified of the Marxist and Islamist. And
- 25:04Speaker 2: they're holding the party hostage. They're winning primaries all over
- 25:07Speaker 2: the country from New York City to Michigan to Colorado
- 25:11Speaker 2: to Florida to Oklahoma. And all the Democrats are terrified.
- 25:16Speaker 2: And by the way, these radicals pretend they're not as
- 25:20Speaker 2: radical as– As they are. So, for example, I want
- 25:23Speaker 2: to listen to you. I want you to listen to
- 25:25Speaker 2: Abdul Al-Sayed on CBS talking about 9-11 and pretending that
- 25:33Speaker 2: he's much more reasonable on it. Give a listen.
- 25:36Speaker 4: We noticed that there were.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Some resurface posts on 9-11.
- 25:39Speaker 3: And I was wondering if it's making it challenging to
- 25:42Speaker 3: reach more Republican or more moderate voters in this race.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Well, I mean, I think all of us look back
- 25:48Speaker 5: and say 9-11 was an awful thing that happened in
- 25:50Speaker 5: this country. And I think all of us also look
- 25:52Speaker 5: back and say, think about all the wars that were fought,
- 25:55Speaker 5: and how much safer do we feel like they made us?
- 25:58Speaker 5: How many lives did they ruin? And my point is
- 26:01Speaker 5: just to say that what happened on 9-11 is a disaster.
- 26:06Speaker 5: It was a terrible attack on our country. And our
- 26:09Speaker 5: responsibility is also to think about how do we build
- 26:12Speaker 5: an America where we are protecting our servicemen and women,
- 26:18Speaker 5: from being asked to fight in wars we have no
- 26:20Speaker 5: business fighting that ultimately end up doing harm to people.
- 26:25Speaker 5: And we're seeing that right now. If you look at
- 26:27Speaker 5: the consequences of this war that we have no business fighting,
- 26:31Speaker 5: the billions of dollars that are being spent to raise
- 26:34Speaker 5: our gas prices, we're in a quagmire.
- 26:37Speaker 4: We don't know how to get out of.
- 26:38Speaker 5: And you'd think that after the disasters in Afghanistan and
- 26:42Speaker 5: Iraq that we would have learned a lesson, but apparently not.
- 26:46Speaker 5: And so I just think it's really important for us
- 26:48Speaker 5: to be learning the lessons of our history. And I'm
- 26:52Speaker 5: talking to Michiganders every single day who wonder when the
- 26:55Speaker 5: era of all these wars is going to end. Because
- 26:57Speaker 5: that's what Donald Trump said he was going to do.
- 26:58Speaker 5: He said America first. I'm America first. There is not
- 27:02Speaker 5: a day that goes by that I don't think about
- 27:04Speaker 5: the destruction that 9-11 wrought. And also think about how
- 27:10Speaker 5: do we build an America where we're not constantly... Fighting wars,
- 27:14Speaker 5: we have no business to fight. Both of those things
- 27:16Speaker 5: can be true.
- 27:17Speaker 2: All right. So, Senator, you hear that.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And it is, again, he's clearly saying, all right, I
- 27:23Speaker 1: got to pivot from what I've been saying and what
- 27:25Speaker 1: I really believe.
- 27:26Speaker 2: And I'm going to totally change it.
- 27:28Speaker 1: And you're like, all right, buddy, sure, I believe you.
- 27:30Speaker 2: So what's interesting, if you actually listen to the words
- 27:32Speaker 2: he said, he's not even entirely pivoting. So like what
- 27:35Speaker 2: he says there at the end is, quote, there's not
- 27:37Speaker 2: a day that goes by that I don't think about
- 27:40Speaker 2: the destruction that 9-11 wrought. What's interesting, when he's talking
- 27:44Speaker 2: about destruction that 9-11 wrought, he doesn't mean the 3,000
- 27:48Speaker 2: Americans murdered. He means the destruction that America destroyed al-Qaeda,
- 27:52Speaker 2: that America destroyed the Taliban. He is mourning that it
- 27:57Speaker 2: cost the terrorists their lives. And by the way, if
- 28:02Speaker 2: you think, well, no, no, no, surely that can't be
- 28:04Speaker 2: the case. As I mentioned, he had made a ton
- 28:09Speaker 2: of tweets about about 9-11. And when he launched a
- 28:14Speaker 2: Senate campaign, what did he do? He deleted all of them.
- 28:18Speaker 2: So there were 11 tweets from 2020 to 2022 in
- 28:22Speaker 2: which he trivialized 9-11. And you listen to some of them.
- 28:26Speaker 2: So here's one he sent. The fact that the U.S.
- 28:29Speaker 2: government continues to pit the Afghan people against 9-11 families
- 28:33Speaker 2: is appalling. All are victims. All deserve the full share
- 28:37Speaker 2: of support they are owed. Here's another one. The hypocrisy
- 28:41Speaker 2: of the U.S. war on terror, withholding humanitarian aid from
- 28:45Speaker 2: the Afghan people who had nothing to do with 9-11
- 28:48Speaker 2: but endured 20 years of war for it and are
- 28:50Speaker 2: now facing famine while exporting weapons to Saudi government allies
- 28:54Speaker 2: that exported the ideology that created bin Laden. Here's another one.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Defending America never should have meant responding to tribalistic grievance
- 29:02Speaker 2: with tribalistic grievance as so much of the post-9-11 era
- 29:06Speaker 2: has been. Rather, it should have meant embracing the ideals
- 29:10Speaker 2: that transcend it Here's another very revealing one that he
- 29:14Speaker 2: sent on September 11th, 2021. Quote, today I mourn the
- 29:21Speaker 2: 3,000 lives, 6,000 injuries, and infrastructural devastation in New York
- 29:27Speaker 2: perpetuated ignorantly in the name of my faith. Tomorrow, I'll
- 29:32Speaker 2: mourn the 1 million lives, millions of injuries, and infrastructural
- 29:37Speaker 2: devastation in three countries perpetuated ignorantly in the name of
- 29:41Speaker 2: my country. So understand, when he's saying he weeps the
- 29:44Speaker 2: devastation of 9-11, he doesn't mean the Americans killed. He
- 29:49Speaker 2: means he's mourning that we killed so many al-Qaeda terrorists
- 29:54Speaker 2: and Taliban terrorists. That's who he's mourning. And and here's
- 30:00Speaker 2: another tweet that he deleted. COVID-19 has taken over 3,000
- 30:03Speaker 2: American lives, more than 9-11. I hope that means we'll
- 30:06Speaker 2: spend the next 10 years fighting a war for public
- 30:08Speaker 2: health and against climate change and poverty, like we launched
- 30:11Speaker 2: a global war on terror after 9-11. We could save
- 30:14Speaker 2: lives rather than take them. This is over and over
- 30:19Speaker 2: and over again. He has sent tweet after tweet after tweet.
- 30:27Speaker 2: And the amazing thing is, He deleted them all. He
- 30:30Speaker 2: thought no one would notice. And this is someone who
- 30:35Speaker 2: wants to represent the state of Michigan in the United
- 30:39Speaker 2: States Senate. And he won the primary. And among radicals,
- 30:43Speaker 2: by the way, Bernie Sanders is supporting him. Elizabeth Warren
- 30:45Speaker 2: is supporting him. AOC is supporting him. Chuck Schumer is
- 30:49Speaker 2: supporting the guy. The senator from New York is supporting
- 30:53Speaker 2: the guy who is mourning the terrorist who carried out
- 30:56Speaker 2: the 9-11 attacks. It is astonishing.
- 30:59Speaker 1: As always, thank you for listening to Verdict with Senator
- 31:02Speaker 1: Ted Cruz. Ben Ferguson with you. Don't forget to download
- 31:05Speaker 1: my podcast and you can listen to my podcast every
- 31:07Speaker 1: other day you're not listening to Verdict or each day
- 31:09Speaker 1: when you listen to Verdict afterwards. I'd love to have
- 31:12Speaker 1: you as a listener to, again, the Ben Ferguson podcast.
- 31:15Speaker 1: And we will see you back here on Monday morning.
