- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Can I blame Michael Kathy over this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_02]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: Scratch claw.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: Up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: or can't believe USC is undefeated in the SEC.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, we're in the big tent.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: What the record?
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh no!

- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: Here in the Reuters studio, in Los Angeles, powered by fancited.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: At least a day at all.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, everybody.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Hello.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what are we against for USC alums?
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: Progents, specifically, Caleb Williams.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: The one, the only Caleb Williams.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know there were people who doubted him coming out of college.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_02]: There were people who thought he wasn't worthy of the number one pick.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then after his first year in the NFL, there were people who thought he was a bust and there were people from the previous regime trying to throw him under the bust and say that he was the problem, but there's.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I knew.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Not the franchise that is very historically, not had a franchise quarterback, who the, yeah, the.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a whole there is Sid Luckman.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's already like in line to be one of their top 10 passers of all time.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, easily, easily.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, Luckman cutler and him.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just not like Jim McMahon.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can't have a bunch of yards.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but yeah, what are we getting for for Caleb Williams leads a value it come back for to bears?
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: They will host the ramps on this upcoming weekend.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: So look forward to that to see what he can do.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Sam Darnold and the Seahawks also.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: uh... playing this weekend uh... they got a by week so they got uh... did not have to play on uh... this past weekend so we'll see them uh... coming up for it
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: if both the seahawks, if the seahawks beat the 49ers and the bears beat the Rams, then USC is guaranteed to have a starting quarterback in the suit rule.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: For the first time ever.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which is not actually not kind of wild because USC has not been like a big NFL producer in history for that position.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: USC has produced a lot of NFL quarterbacks, but like they're not Purdue with like,
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, really, really top level quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, but like I think that makes it.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: sort of more shocking, like every, you know, cow, would you have expected cow to produce Aaron Rogers?
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like you'd think USC would stumble upon somebody, but I mean, they have theoretically sand Arnold and Caleb Williams could take their teams there.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: They could also lose, but maybe you can look this up while we're talking, but
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: did he go to a silver with the chiefs uh... i think so jay one of her no no no no no no i see jay battered um... the s.c. battered uh... what is his name uh...
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Pete Bathert, all right.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm searching Bathert USA.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Pete Bathert.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what do you have got in the Super Bowl with the chair?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think he would have but he wouldn't have played.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: He was with the chiefs from 64 to 67.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, he is listed as the AFL champion in 1966.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so then before the right before this is just missed.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just miss Super Bowl.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Just just missed.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so yeah, we'll see how that goes in the NFL playoff has gone been going on and call it true ball.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's been super fun to watch.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think we can talk about that later if we have time for it.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll have time to talk about that.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: Cool, let's get into the new showy.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: I took it off my board.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really did.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: So we're just gonna pretend that this is the new strap.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think I just died in what to have.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if that's the correct drop for them.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: No, how about this one?
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, no.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: That may be him.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's the new strap hard to say.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Let's talk about talk about USC's defensive coordinator search Pickle ball drill club in the in the chat says who is our defensive coordinator gonna be Gary P. Question mark All right, let's talk about the coaching search.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about peak with Kowski
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: being top of our list of who we want USC to go out and get Texas's forward defensive coordinator.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: He was at Washington for a long time.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of success, long track record of success.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: He was let go by Texas a few weeks ago.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's not coming to us because if he was, he would have been here already.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Stanford apparently got really close with Guitkowski, but they are looking at former Trojan, Chris Richard, as their defensive coordinator.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: But Guitkowski, sort of,
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: not no longer on their radar what's with what's going on it seems that now three different teams have had
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: at what seems to be the same misgiving about quick quick kowsky sure um... obviously we don't have details were not in those rooms we don't know what his interview process look like or you have sort of if there are personality clashes or if i don't know he's just a weirdo who was a good along with the police well yeah
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: and maybe I don't know uh... maybe he makes like ad jokes or does you know i'd have doubt that has too many like like taps the table in a in a rhythm in a way that annoys people i don't know whatever whatever it is plus the big green flag
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever it is, Texas got rid of him allegedly, sort of, reading between the lines because I think the phrasing was like, Sark was tired of babysitting the DC.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it was just, it sounded from the get-go like it was a personality thing.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: Because it certainly wasn't a results thing.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: The USC thing was so obvious because allegedly he had a good relationship with Jen Cohen from the Washington days and U.S.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: He needed a defensive coordinator, and You know, it all sort of fit and then suddenly He's not a candidate for USC.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's a candidate for Stanford and the sort of like
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: rumblings have been that USC passed because there was something about fit that didn't seem right that USC wanted to look in a different direction.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: And then the same thing happens at Stanford.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: So like, you know, at a certain point when three different programs are saying apparently the same thing,
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: Then you do have to look at it and say, okay, well, maybe this is a valid question mark that has quickowski sort of on the outs because his and the fact that like he like I said at the time.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that Stanford was close to hiring him was a red flag in and of itself because he could do much better with Stanford just based on his resume.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't know, it's all very strange.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: I am
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: disappointed that it doesn't look like USC is going in this direction, but I understand not wanting to bring somebody in who will be a negative in terms of culture or all of that.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: Having said that, I will admit, my response to this has been sort of
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: this or that kind of thing, where on the one hand, while I respect not wanting to bring in somebody who might shake up your culture, I think that the best leaders and the best programs or companies or whatever,
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: have a culture that with stands, adding somebody in who is maybe against the grain, and the reason that Nick Sabin and Bill Belichek did so well during their dynasties is in part because they took all the guys that didn't fit culture-wise elsewhere and they forced them to fit into their culture.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: Lane Kiffin was not an Alabama guy, he went there and had a lot of success being on that staff.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: Players in the NFL that you'd look at and go like they're a cancer in one place.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: They go to the Patriots and suddenly they're walking the line.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: I am, in part, worried slash frustrated slash about like the concept of not hiring somebody because there's a personality clash or a culture fit, a culture miss or anything like that.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like for all intents and purposes, the culture that Pete Quikowski has put into his defenses has been very, very successful.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm sort of, I feel a certain type of way about that.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Relieved and less willing to like die on that hill because this is how now happened with three different programs with Texas with USC with Stanford.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: Having said that, the coaches of these programs are Steve
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: if like Nick save and passed on him i'd be like okay yeah that's we we know what's up if if uh if if guys who you know you can trust their their uh program building in culture then you know i would be all on board but there there's just something very weird about all of this that i'm it's just making me uneasy the whole thing
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: not just quickowski because again like if you pass on him for a good reason that's fine but it just it all just feels that something feels off something feels not right yeah i think the thing is like we've talked about quickowski you know a lot for like a month now um it's not necessarily that like you and me and so many you know
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: himself, like literally.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's more so like you want to get somebody like a peak with Kowsky in terms of prestige, in terms of success, in terms of track record, in terms of all of those things.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Pickleball, drill, club in the chat says, isn't this the most important higher of the Riley era?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, given the way things have gone, yes, because
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: a defense that is consistent for 60 minutes and successful for 60 minutes.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: The second half defense that SC had in the second half of the year, if that defense was transposed across all 12 games, all 60 minutes, SCs in the playoff.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: Not just in the playoff, but like a contender, you know?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe they went a game in the playoff, yeah, I don't know.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know what I mean?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they aren't where they are, right?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're in a different situation.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, like, I see there's nothing to have to fix that much.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: But the bit that they have to fix is like the the hardest step to go from being on the friends to being in because you've got to find someone who can get you sort of over that hump.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, also pickleball, true glove mentions Gary P. Meaning Gary Patterson, presumably, not Gary Pascoets, uh, Best of Peace.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but Gary Patterson, a name that we've seen like thrown around on like, uh, Twitter or whatnot, like, uh, I don't know that I've ever
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: like I've done I've done research I've looked into this many times in the past we've looked at times that's Gary Patterson every every coaching search that u.s.e.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: did yeah in the in the in this like 20 teams we were looking at Gary Patterson every time Gary Patterson um should be a half-aim coach
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Tremendous coach, what he's done, or what he did at TCU, should be lauded, praise, all those things.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Want to Rose Bowl?
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: All the time.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: Coach of the year.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: My concern is that he left to stop the TCU a while ago now, 2021, I believe, was his last year at TCU, which means he's been out of college football.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: for four years.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: He was a special assistant at Texas in 2022.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: I thought burnt orange nations at the espionation side.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: They had a really good article.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: You should go look up about Gary Patterson that I thought was very interesting.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: I talked about like his influence on Texas in 2022.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to judge, right, because he was a special consultant to Peacockowski, ironically.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: But like, he apparently, you know, included some consultation on like how they would do like cover for coverages and whatnot.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: And their defense got significantly better.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Is that because of that?
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Is it because of the personnel?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: Is it because it was just year two in a new coaching system?
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it could be any of those things.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Gary Patterson could have had nothing to do with it.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Or you could have had all the reasons to do with it.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: I can understand absolutely that Lincoln Riley reveres Gary Patterson because he was a big 12 God.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: right and he was a hard to see was a hard team to play against defensively, especially for all those years and TCU had success at times against Oklahoma, etc.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like I get it at the same time it's better while.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: At the same time you look at the numbers on like you know you pull up the
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: And TCU is in the hundreds in 2021 when he gets fired.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: But you look at all the seasons before that.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're in the top 20.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're like 17th, 16th, 15th.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: They're like in that range.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: And not to say that like, you're gonna get exactly what happened at TCU at USC.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know, but like I just,
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think my, my prevailing thought is, I don't know if it's a better situation than you have now because I think the questions that you would have about Gary Patterson are similar questions you'd have about that Lynn and the upside with the Gary Patterson would be very similar to the upside of a damn Lynn and so I don't know that it would be a step forward.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that it would be a step backward either.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's so hard because like, we have to answer the question of, was that 2021 season, the him finally just hitting his age and sort of not being able to connect with his roster and not being able to catch up to what
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: the year after COVID was it just the end of the line for him as a head coach was it TCU, what kind of investment was TCU giving to their to their program?
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of talent were they pulling in?
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: All of that kind of stuff, you know, it
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: there could be explanations for it.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that he has been out of the game for so long, not out of the game because he's been in around college football, but like he hasn't had a job.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't had a head coaching job, a DC job, anything job, since he got fired in 2021.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's now a long time.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, as an aside, the number of years it's been since COVID is now just absolutely astonishing.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: But like that's also the thing is like 2021 doesn't feel that long
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: But also, 2021 was like four years ago.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, in terms of college football, it's changed drastically.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's significantly different.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think there is probably decent amount of change dramatically.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: and then you talk about like NAL and recruiting and transfer portal stuff and all that stuff has changed mightily but then you get into the thought of like do you need your defensive coordination recruit in 2026 maybe you don't if you have chatboden is your your GM and you have a great support stuff like
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe sort of the point is you get your lab coat guy who's just going to be about the X's and O's and he's going to resonate with the players, but he's not going to be out there grinding texting away with the guys.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's a bad idea, but like, I don't know.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: If USC wants to, which I think is a perfectly, I think, I think we are reasonable if we need to assume that USC would like to keep much of their defensive staff intact.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, particularly Eric Henderson, but like, you know, I think, uh, Trevon Reed and, you know, Sean Nua coming back, it just sounds like they want to keep this, these guys in place and that the ideal for USC from USC's perspective might be to plug in a co-DC with Eric Henderson who coaches the, you know, DB's, safeties or whatever, just takes Stanton Lynch place.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: And if they were to do that with Gary Patterson,
- 20:23[SPEAKER_02]: that might be the only set up that I might be willing to say maybe could work because garret patterns in a sixty five he's he you know he's not a spring trick anymore but error Henderson is young and he can connect with the players you know i think trove on reads pretty young like there's uh... there's like the young guys and then the old guys with the right uh... with uh...
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: I have to make a Ryan's in my head.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's not, not, not, not Ryan, Rob Ryan.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: Rob Ryan.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely not to make a Ryan.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, but that would be wonderful.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so like I could imagine it where you bring in Patterson, he was a safety scoach.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: Now it's been a long time since he was a safety scoach and I don't know if he wants to do the on-field coaching like that anymore, but he was a safety scoach.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: So you could bring him in, have him oversee the safety's.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's co-DC with Eric Henderson.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_02]: He brings the schematic element to the table.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean by co-DCs?
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: Cody C. In in the sense that Eric Henderson was the co-DC with Danton Lynn this year, which is just the pig rate.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: So you keep Eric Henderson happy by keeping him with the co-DC tag.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then maybe you give him more responsibility, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, maybe it could also be an absolute disaster to bring in somebody who's 65 years old, who hasn't coached.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: on field with players in four years who has never dealt with players who were being paid outright, who is a generation behind in terms of the last time he recruited, we're talking a generation behind in terms of like every four years being a college football generation.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it would be a massive risk, but I would be willing to give space for the possibility
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: that it could work.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: But also, like, uh, somebody in the chat was saying that like, Riley can't, uh, can't get this one wrong.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, yeah, you, it's a massive risk to take that you cannot afford to get wrong as badly as it could go wrong.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, um, there's been a lot of possible speculation that the reason that it's gone on is because maybe it's going to be an NFL guy, maybe it's a guy who's still coaching, maybe it's a guy who was still coaching up until a few days ago, any of those things, maybe they're just waiting this long because they're just going to name Eric Henderson, I, I tend to think that if it was Eric Henderson, it would have been done by now done and dusted by now.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, especially for recruiting purposes with the portal.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: So, hey, hey, if they're waiting around for Corey Heatherman, the DC at Miami, and that ends up being the higher.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: How that how they pull that off, hell if I know because I couldn't explain to you why Corey Heatherman would want to, you know, make a lateral to the rules.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: You never know.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: He left the highest state to go to Penn State, yes.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Who knows?
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the stranger things have certainly happened.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: If that's what they're waiting for, then the weight will have been well worth it.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, well worth it.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think the, as long as it feels like it's gone on, now that the transport is open and sort of winding down, your urgency, I think lowers again.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it goes back to just get it right, right, and then I think I think it's worth mentioning, Michigan and Penn States, head coaching hires.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: Those were long tedious processes for completely different reasons, obviously.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: In which there were many names thrown out there, some of which were not as good as others.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: and they ended up with guys who, everyone considers as a big W, right?
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're ultimately like be judged on the success of the person that you hire.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: So get it right, like you can make a higher that people hate.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: And if it works, if you win, then like you could hire a Gary Patterson and people could be like panicking because they think it's a bad hire.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: You could hire Cory Heatherman and people could be celebrated because it's a good hire and then we're coming out of the 2020 season and what really matters in the end is not how people fell when those guys got hired.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's how they feel at the end of the season when they've seen their defenses.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: So it's
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: it is very results dependent.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: But but at this stage having sort of waited a month now or longer, I just want it done.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't want to have to be going back and forth about like who could it be, who could it be, maybe it's this guy, maybe it's that guy.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: The weird thing is it's literally two weeks.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's literally two weeks, but it feels like longer because I think we all assume the dead and then was leaving for Penn State any time.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, once the initial report came out, which was in early December.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: Any other names you wanna discuss?
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so another name that's been floating around on Twitter is Missouri Defense Accordnator Cory Batoon, apparently like Missouri message boards are in a panic over this link, because they really like him.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: He is from he was born in Hawaii.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: He went to Cal State Long Beach.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: He has deep, you know, so calties with San Diego, Los Angeles, et cetera.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: His defense is at Missouri last year was ranked 26th in D.F.E.I.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: 20th in 2025.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's done a really good job at that school thus far.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: Intriguing.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: If it is Corributune, I don't know why it's taking this long either.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the, uh, you want to address that super chat?
- 26:57[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's another name that I've seen.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Cheers.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: From night sky, um, what about Charger's DB's coach, Steve Clink's scale?
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Kling scale hell of a name.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, um, Harvok guy, uh, DB's coach, uh, at Michigan had a code DC tag, um, at Michigan.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know anything about him.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know anything about him.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think he comes from an interesting tree in that sense, NFL experience, Harbaugh experience.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's no reason to say no on the surface.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know enough about him to like, you know, pound the table for him at this point.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Uhhh
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: practically non-existent because he was the DC at Cincinnati in 2015 and they had a bad defense.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: He was the Kodisi at Michigan from 2022 to 2023.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: But again, that's an Eric Henderson Kodisi.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like he was not running that defense at Michigan.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: Does it speak
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: to the chargers.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, speaks very highly of him.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: I do like the the tree he's coming from and all of that, but again, this comes back to like, you cannot get this wrong.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot get this wrong.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_02]: And Klinks Hill would be, would be a risk.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: It would be another guy who, like,
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: in the first place and
- 29:05[SPEAKER_02]: that turned out really, really well for them for that one year.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: But increasingly, that one year sort of looks like a, you had NFL talent on the edges.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't know.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's the best hire.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's a disaster hire.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think USC should be shooting, should be aiming higher than that as an option.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: But you could do worse, certainly.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I don't think there's any egg on your face in terms of the higher itself, but again, it needs to be something that is proven to be successful.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: Chelsea fans will love William Mercenier if he wins trophies, even though no one's happy that he's the manager.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: The problem that I have right now is just that like it was nice having Peacockowski is like the name because it was an undeniable best name out there.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like if USC did that, it's a home run higher,
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: Al Golden as a name that could be sort of dreamed about was another one where it's like okay, yeah That's a that's a big boy higher week Martin Dale week Martin Dale.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which is another name that people are floating I don't know if there's any actual smoke there or just people dreaming Certainly the Jesse mentor conversation Is also dreaming that just is not just a mentor.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: We just show cuz his yeah It was probably gonna be an NFL car.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: I was gonna say he's gonna be a head coach before he's USC's DC
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: My problem now is that with the exception of Cory Heatherman, I do not see like if I were going to rank the options that USC has, they're not that it's not like a murderers row of, that's a damn good hire.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like I think Cory Batoon is probably a good hire.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_02]: Gary Patterson is a risky but maybe good hire.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: Steve Klinksill is a taken a chance on somebody like we're going down the line and I'm not super jazzed about any of the options.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: But I will also admit I will admit this.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: I have not done a deep dive into core batoon, specifically because I'm tired of doing deep dives into dc's that then are not a factor.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm tired of falling in love with candidates and then just having it be completely wiped away in a day.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: So what I've seen is surface level on batoon and just the fact that Missouri fans don't want him to leave, but
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will say that like you're your sort of dream candidate thing being like a Corey Heatherman from from Miami, like if it's a pipe dream in a half, but like if that's your pipe dream, then like literally anybody's possible, and the sense of like and I think that if you're SC, if you're someone who is going to pay two,
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Billion three mil whatever it is for the defense of coordinator position.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: Then seen what the gym knows left.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: I was to go to Penn State last year like there's precedents that maybe you just get someone who already has a job.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: like and and like a quarry had to remember like literally anybody um... but again you have to you have to you have to you have to nail the job I don't you have to nail the hire I don't care who they get at this point as long as it's someone that you feel good about and then ultimately you have success with because as we've been saying on the podcast for ten years now there's two times the judge of hire
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: At the moment, and then the tenure, the higher and the tenure are different things.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Chip Kelly was an incredible hire for UCLA.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: He was terrible as a ten year, right?
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: Dolphin Ken Riley was an incredible hire for USC, and we still haven't seen that really come together.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: His tenure hasn't been... Yeah.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: Hasn't been an incredible tenure.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: Fantastic hire as USC's defense of coordinator didn't have the success right reasons, you know, so like a good hire can be something that is under well mean and a bad hire can can work out right like.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: Jim Moore was a bad hire at UCLA, and he worked out more than anybody else has over that, you know what I mean?
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you could argue Pete Carroll was bad hire at USC.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: He was certainly not a hire that people liked, but night sky brings up Brian Hayes from Indiana.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: Would love that.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: My problem is just that again, it's like with Heather and it's like, why?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: I, I have a hard time with Indiana not pay him a matching salary, whatever you see pays him.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, those Indiana guys that are like hardcore signetti dudes, yeah, I have a hard time seeing them leave.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's a lot of them that have been there since the beginning was signetti.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: And that means that they're like, they're committed to him more than they are, they're like
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say their own ambitions, because that sounds good.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: It was hands with him at Elon too.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, let me, let me look this up.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: Hold on.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: Because he's been with him through jam you.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, they were, he was at Elon with him.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: So like yeah, their, their work in relationship goes back to 2017.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and, and there's dudes on that stuff or anything.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going back even farther because he was at IUP.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: He was, he was one of the IUP.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_02]: He was a strength and conditioning coach for IUP with Stignetti.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: So like, I, yeah, you're not, you're not getting right against.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, mind you, if you, if, if you're him.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: And if there was ever a time to leave now after you win an actual championship is a good time to do it Yeah Like you use your business bring board to a head coaching job.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I and maybe that's something that's like That he tells him to go do you know.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's he's 40 so it's not like he's Yeah, young but now he's not like he's old.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but but again like
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: If your hope is the, is the, I'm not gonna say unprecedented because Jim knows just in it last year, but like the, the, the, such a, like, abnormal in the normal sense higher of going out and getting a dude who's going to take a,
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: lateral in some sense move, right?
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, maybe you say that he's going backwards, going from Indiana to S, see at this point, right?
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's why Heather Men is talked about the way that he is because he was at Minnesota for one year and then there's no long term Miami for one year.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: He could just jump and leave.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: Also, he's a sick daddy guy, I didn't realize that.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: yeah um so basically how about USC just goes and finds anybody that was a defensive coach under signetti and just pick one as long as you have them clone his brain or something even though do you want that cloned
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: And like, in that sense, I would be perfectly comfortable with just saying anybody who lasted with Signetti, therefore was able to live in his sphere of like just whatever the hell energy that Signetti is giving off, then like, that's probably a good sign.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would, here's a question for you, but before we move on, because we have a lot of
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: Really quick, is there a coach who, in college football, you would least, or less like to be your father than Kurt Tignetti?
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Because Kurt Tignetti is my dad, I think would be terrifying.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: The death stairs?
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah expectations.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't think there is.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there is.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there is.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: on a scale of Kyle Woodingham to Kurt Zignetti.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like, Kyle Woodingham is a dad would be awesome.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think it's, it's Signetti.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm struggling to think of a single other person that would scare me as much as he does.
- 38:12[UNKNOWN]: No.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, uh, let's get to time of the transfer portal.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, when last week's focus on long tree was not in the transfer portal, we talked about him potentially going in the transfer portal and he has, uh, USC's backup quarterback in 2025.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, he's seeking a minute playing time looking at some options.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, LSU perhaps that is an end.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's been fancy to about Lane Kiffin there trying to figure something
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: What was what you thought on this all launched the two the first two programs that came up one has on long Street announced he was going to try and you wanted to transfer
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: We're organ and LSU, open quarterback jobs, programs that have done programs and or coaches who have done a good job of developing quarterbacks, nationally successful, nationally relevant, blah, blah, blah, and except that like those are no longer available, Dylan Ryle is transferring to Oregon.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: Sam Levitt is reportedly transferring to LSU, although there are still some rumblings that like Tennessee might still be trying to reverse that decision from him.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: Either way, if Longstreet wants to start day one, his options in the power five are limited.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: Now Miami will need a quarterback after Carson Beck leaves.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_02]: so that could be a that could be a spot that that he tries does my amy want to bring in a red shirt freshman who has never played a down to take over that particular team uh... i don't i don't i don't know about that like tenancy might be in play but i don't know about that so there's
- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's only so much.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's only so many opportunities he goes.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: He does unless he does the G5 route, which, you know, is if he wants to play right away, then by all means, but like Here's here's the issue that I think that
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: a song long street has um i don't think this is the bad thing i think this is just this is just what call triple is right now and i think it's tough for someone who wants to play right now having to sort of make these decisions is that i think we have gone back and forth on what your starting quarterback looks like
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: 20 years ago, it was your junior senior, your freshman, John David Boody's going to come to SC and he's going to send his booty on the bench and he's not going to start until year four because you've got guys in front of him and he's not going to leave and that's what college football is and you're just going to wait for your time and then you're going to get your your opportunity, right?
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: then it became this thing where you've got to play everybody early and every every major school at some point started a freshman quarterback.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama started Jalen Hertz as a true freshman.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: He got in the game and his first ever game against SC, right?
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: All these schools went to, okay, we're gonna play the younger guy.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: The younger guy is where we're gonna go.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: The younger guy with the higher upside, he's gonna get us where we need to be.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe you have some growing pains, but you're gonna get there anyways.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now that the transfer portal is becoming,
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: and for a while it was becoming a thing with quarterbacks being graduate transfers because we saw the successes of grad transfers with guys like Russell Wilson right going from NC State to Wisconsin to having success in their final year but now you get to where guys can do that after year one and two and three and four and I think the the trend is shifted back to where
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: is the junior and senior again.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's the 100% proven dude because you're gonna be reluctant to give somebody else an opportunity.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's so many expectations on coaches, coaches want to keep their job, keeping your job means more and I owe money, and more wins, more I owe money, more I owe money, means keeping your job, like all these things
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it cascades, and so you want your quarterback to be a proven commodity, so then if you're a so long street.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I get it that you're at SC and like my office, the dude right now.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so what are you going to do?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like do you want in the day and age of the transfer portal?
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: It makes sense to transfer away.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is what happens with quarterbacks, but also who's going to play him?
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like both of those things can be true at this point to put him in a bind.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think the teams that are going to play him are teams that he would eventually probably want to transfer away from anyways.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: You mentioned like the G5 thing.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, if he transfers to say, a, just throw this out there, like a Stanford, for instance.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: and he starts there at Stanford.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be looking to transfer again next year.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Stanford's not a G5.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I I said from the beginning that any quarterback who wants to go who doesn't want to learn under Lincoln Riley is
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: is uh... making their own choice and that in the end it doesn't really matter it doesn't really matter to me where has on long street ends up uh... i wish him well but yeah in the end i think would i choose to be developed by Lincoln Riley or anyone else i would choose to be developed by a Lincoln Riley even if i had to sit another year yeah
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we will see, Mr. Pugahed in the chat, there's still a lot of place to frame to go.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: Miami, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's about just schools like that.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: But again, like Michael said, like, how many of those schools are in a position to start a guy to start a guy who's never started a game before?
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: When, you know, I don't think that I don't know that the portal has too much more talent available to it, but like, you know, I think anyone of those teams
- 45:15[SPEAKER_02]: is basically setting up 2026 to be a rookie mistakes year and like someone like I don't know that a team like Miami is in a position to take that risk.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe we come out with national title.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, maybe.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I've experienced it.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: But that's with Ole Miss, but I mean, Tennessee kind of makes a lot of sense because you go to Tennessee and there's a little bit more of like a long term quarterbacking set up there that I think would make a lot of sense for him.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to talking about, you know, Miami potentially making picks on their quarterback.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: How about you making picks at underdog fantasy?
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the playoff's here.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: There's no better time to start making your picks and underdog.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's my favorite daily fantasy app.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: I can play with as little as the buck went up to 5,000 times.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm money to all that using your ball knowledge, pick whether a player will hire or lower than their staff projections, mix and match with different players and different teams.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: Even different sports this week.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: Today where it's Monday night.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's a Monday night playoff game two nights.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going Kaylin Bullock.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: for intrusion higher than four and that four and a half tackles plus assists.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: Woody Marx, higher.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: than 10.55 fantasy points and Aaron Rogers' lower than 204 passing yards.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm doing over at Underdog Fantasy.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: You can join me and start making your picks.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: So what are you waiting for?

- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now, this is like telling a woman they look tired.
- 48:08[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hahaha.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: Smile more.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like what?
- 48:11[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds like a balloon.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, I just say you were ready to get a steam there at the end.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of words.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: Mean.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: Mean.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: Next thing I know you're gonna call me buddy.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, let's have our Trojans in the transfer portal, a song Longstreet obviously is there.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_01]: His brother Kevin Longstreet is there, Alex Payne, Anthony Beaver's, Garrison Madden, James Johnson, Joey Olson and Steve Miller, Trojans who are no longer in the transfer portal because they found new homes.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: Cornerback railing calmly to Georgia.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: for him.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's for him going to Georgia.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: I ran it back right in Jackson to Wisconsin, Carlon Jones to Arkansas, Devon Tompkins to Alabama, DJ Jordan, Arizona, Gus Cordova to Mississippi State, Harry Dalton to Maryland, Matt Tye, Tech OI, to Arizona, and McKiceina and Michael Benuelos both to Purdue.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Who's in Purdue?
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: You might ask?
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: Prince Trump.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: Why does he ever, to West Virginia and Walker Lyons, to be why you'd play with his brother writer Lyons.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, that'll be fun, good, good for the Lyons family there, but, um, we got an email from Tony, uh, in, uh,
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: uh... to the rpa who says michael elicia this is tonic from the nori pa great weekend in signing players john test her out davon good way to start the transport will we still have some other needs though have to get an ad dresser fight on alright let's start off with the guys usc has brought in so far uh... in the transfer portal of course we start
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: with John Taz Williams.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: Why did you start corner back from Iowa State.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, transfer, transfer portal corner in 247.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: You only played five games in 2025 and an ACL tier.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_01]: Four interceptions, 46 tackles in 2024, team captain, all of those things.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: He was the guy who went to media day.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, with for Iowa State to big big 12-minute day.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: That thing.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't matter, but I think that like it's a better confidence.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think it it shows you the type of importance that a player has.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, which I think is a good thing.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think we talked about Williams last week, but that was before he committed to SC, which is a big hit.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, big big get the only question mark is whether or not he will be recovered from that ACL tear in in time and well enough to be a difference maker for USC, but if all goes well on that front, like this is your CP one, this is your lockdown corner, and then you can let the other guys, you know.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: Do they think?
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, big, big, big, big for SC.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: And if we talked about it many times before, if you can get your McCye Blackman, and just not have to worry about that corner spot.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_01]: That would be great.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: Coming off as ACL Ter, it's 2026.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: You can do that now.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: You hope that that is in a lingering thing, something to consider though, so we'll see how that goes, but absolutely getting the number one transfer corner is what you want.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's the best available.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_01]: They went out and got him.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about Suriah Fisher, defense event from Penn State.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about him last year, I was sorry, last week, that he's going into his seventh year COVID.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: He had a COVID year.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: He ventured it.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting a medal for red shirt all equal seven years three and a half tackles for lost two sacks in 2025 so far in this career seven tackles 41 41 tackles seven tackles for loss five and a half sacks in his career at Penn State.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: Um, his, uh, his like PFF numbers aren't particularly, uh, like, aren't particularly outstanding, but his past rush win rate was 15%, which is very high.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: Um, USC's best past rush win rate in 20, 25 was Anthony Lucas at 12%.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, I think that this isn't like, Anthony Lucas at
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: So he's higher than that.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he's higher than that.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: What you want to be you want to be higher.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: Do you do me favor?
- 52:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: Can you look up to see what Tulee II pull out to his past rush when Ray?
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: Ray?
- 53:03[SPEAKER_02]: I can.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm doing that.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'll just say that Zarya Fisher is a good
- 53:17[SPEAKER_02]: Cam Crawford.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: He's not in an Uber elite and addition, but he is a solid veteran guy who just by winning his Pashtra Shreps more often could really help USC.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: The difference between a team who has consistent past pressures and ones that doesn't is still massive and that's been an issue for USC.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you told me that he ended up being a super contributor to this defense this upcoming season, I wouldn't be surprised at the same time if you said that he came and he had two tackles for loss and eight tackles on the season and sort of like had the same sort of minor role that he's had at Penn State forever.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that too.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of stuff, great for depth,
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: But with an upside, which I think that when the transfer portal isn't completely stocked with edge rushers.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think that is worth the, worth the shout to go out and get to write a feature.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how that goes.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, did you get two, two pelotus?
- 54:33[SPEAKER_01]: I pass rush win rate.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_02]: I am trying.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_02]: Um, it looks like two lead to a polotus pass rush win rate was 15.4.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, very
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: So like, and that's the thing is like, in terms of that, um, he, like that particular stat is really good.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_02]: He, he doesn't have enough sacks though.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like he doesn't have enough finish product to be a truly elite addition.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_02]: If he puts that together, if he adds more sacks, then we're talking, then we're talking really, really good addition.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but for comparison
- 55:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Tully Tupolo to his past rush when rate was very similar to Zaryah Fischer's, and that should be, you know, encouraging.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's upside.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_01]: He was successful as a past rusher in terms of getting pressure in the reduced number of snaps that he had as a rotational die.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: What could he do if he got more of an opportunity?
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and do you know what his injury in 2024 was?
- 55:56[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I don't have it listed down.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: Um, because I like I wonder if it was like a knee injury or something like that, he missed the whole season.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_02]: he came back a slow playback in twenty twenty five uh... sometimes and this is my concern with uh... which on his Williams is like sometimes that first year back you can still be good but like are you you're not at your peak uh... your peak level so uh... i think it's entirely possible that he come it was an ACL injury yeah so especially for a guy in the defense line like coming back from an ACL injury
- 56:32[SPEAKER_02]: having a good pass for when rape and not quite getting to the quarterback a second year out from that you could you know realistically could see him start to sort of hit hip back to his heights so I don't know is it it's certainly interesting yeah let's get to the next one
- 56:54[SPEAKER_01]: Alex Finn Sumeran, defensive tackle from Michigan State, 71 career tackles, four and a half career sex, four and a half career tackles for us, three career sex.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is such an interesting
- 57:20[SPEAKER_01]: The thing that jumps out for me is he had 52 tackles as a defensive tackles as a defensive tackles yeah this past season For Michigan State have a how many Tatt I'm looking this up go ahead and and well Kate McDonald Ohio State's Kate McDonald had had more he's the only guy who had more in the big ten I was trying to look up more in the country, but like it was very hard to get sort of you would have taken
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: ages for me to exactly figure that out.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_02]: Of USC's defensive tackles, Devon Tonkin's 37 with 31.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_02]: 31.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then I looked it up.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: The last USC defensive tackle to have that many.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_01]: Stevie T, Stevie T, we call him out too.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's very good comparison.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's very encouraging.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think the interesting thing is here, like his PF grade 66.6, great number, not jumps, it doesn't jump off the page, but he's a great run stopping, the fence of tackle.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's something that FC is certainly needed.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: FC needs past rushers, but they also need big run stuff stuffers who are going to plug the hole in the middle.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: I take a single run stuffer in the middle and let the past rush be sorted out from the edges.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_02]: Personally.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think that when you when you also look at like his production, he had one missed tackle all season by the way.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: I saw that too.
- 58:51[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's just a lot of stuff I like here.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: He was a captain at one point for the Spartans.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_02]: He was six then the in the Big Ten in Stops, which are like tackles any any sort of tackled that results in not a negative play in the sense of like negative yardage, but a play that that doesn't
- 59:16[SPEAKER_02]: isn't a success for the opposing offense like a one-year runner or two-yard run.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_02]: He was he had a 19 which is six in the in the big ten.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that you know there's a lot of production here which which you like to see and I sort of go back to a thing that they talked about in the broadcast in the Peach Bowl, the Indiana Oregon game.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_01]: And how they talk about critical techniques transfer policy is not about potential but production and obviously like
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: That still means you have to coach those guys up, right?
- 59:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you go and get some dude who's been at a lower level, but has like a record holder doesn't mean that he's going to be crazy successful at a higher level.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_01]: But it means that he knows how to be successful.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: It means that there's, you know, that they are, their mind is right and all that kind of stuff, right?
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like you still have to maybe coach them through a lot of things, certainly, right?
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: Vin, Vin Sumeron, number 12 defense of Lyme, he's not number one.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's not at 6, 300 pounds, he's the big dude, but he's not the biggest defensive tackle at this point.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_01]: But like the production is there to the point where like this, this just feels, it feels right to me.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I'm just like, too eager to buy into a defensive lineman coming off of a system, or a year, which S.E.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: brought in a bunch of defensive lineman who didn't do anything in the transfer portal.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_01]: But like I, you know, Kishan Silver didn't have 52 tackles at Kentucky.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the thing is like, I think that there's a theme with some of these additions.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_02]: And to me, it is that USC's biggest area of concern remains run defense.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: And they have addressed that at two levels of the defense with Vince Summer and the linebacker that they brought in.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_02]: now the problem the problem there is that like they weren't able to get the all around elite guys who can do both but it's very clear to me that the what they've chosen to add on the defensive line and it linebacker is guys who can sniff out the run
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think that, you know, Bob in the chat says you can't have a strong past version unless you stop the run minimize second and short and third and short plays a thousand percent.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think that like the prime example for that to me is the the organ and the Notre Dame games.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_01]: And the I would game.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_01]: Those are games all of which SC was better in the second half right?
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_01]: All of them were games in which SC got gasped on the ground in the first
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: In the second half, they got at least a yard better on yards per carry and just just being a yard better in yards per carry means that the third downs are longer.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're longer, third downs are less likely to pick up.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_01]: Less likely to pick up, third downs mean more likely to get a stop.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_01]: More likely to get a stop means more opportunities for the offense to get a score that maybe isn't answered.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: And that's how you stack scoring drives together and create comebacks, leads, all those things.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't do it against Oregon, they did it against Iowa, but that's the basis for being able to do those things.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, if you can trim a half yard off your, yours per carry on first down, you're gonna see a huge,
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: dividend paid going forward.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I love this get for SE because it's just it fits an exact need of what they need with a guy was had success doing this in the victim.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like proof concept is there.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_01]: Check all the boxes.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_01]: Senior leadership guy.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_01]: What more do you want, right?
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, fantastic, fantastic get for Fressy.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's, like, a lot of these guys, we're gonna talk about like the, the transfer portal gets in general, because I do think there's obviously there's risk involved from the transfer portal, but like, of all the dudes that I think FC brought in, I think he's the least risky.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's the most sure thing to me.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I also just think about like, you think about Stevie to a call about to him.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_02]: He came to USC.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_02]: He was not a heralded guy.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_02]: He was not somebody who was like wrecking dudes at Utah, but he was big.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: He could hold his ground and he could do the little things.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_02]: And he turned out to be one of the most important transfers that USC's ever had.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm not saying the van summer is going to be like an all-American, but I do think he's a very savvy pickup for USC, especially considering the need.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_01]: All right, next one to mention.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: uh... we talked about them last last week to relanderson wire receiver out of mt state number seven wire receiver in the transfer portal according to four seven six two one ninety two thirty nine catches six hundred twenty nine yards five touchdowns in twenty twenty five uh... your your thoughts your thoughts here on on to relanderson
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's not the like a flashy receiver that I hoped that USC would go after, not flashy, but like, you know, elite level to pair with, to pair with to no kinds, but he, he makes sense in the same way that and don't get mad at me for this comparison that print strong made sense.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_02]: I, and I know that Princeton was a big disappointment in the season in part because of injury, but he was the kind of receiver who was just, you know, solid in the all-around game, who could come in as a little bit more of a veteran and just do a job for you, and
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think that in the ideal world, what Anderson ends up being, like, if I could lay it out right now, I don't want Anderson being my, why does he have number two?
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_02]: I want him to be my or why does he have number three?
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_02]: And if one of the freshman or the red shirt freshman or any of those take that, why does he have number two?
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_02]: And you have your very reliable, you just have your sort of number
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_02]: But he's not Nick Martian.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's not Cam, Cam, Cam, and you know, any of those guys.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, well, it's fine.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_01]: We talk a lot about like guys who would be the sort of like, your number six batter, your guy in the seven hole on a world series tape, you know what I mean?
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Terrell Anderson feels like to me.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_01]: And the number three receiver is the prime example of this.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like yes, he is, if he's your number three receiver, you're in a really good place.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_01]: If he's your number one, either you would have needed him to take a step forward, which it totally fine, that's the case.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_01]: But if he's your number one as is, and that means I think something went wrong with the other guys on your roster too.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_01]: Ideally, you want to relandish and take a step forward.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_01]: And all your other guys to take a step forward too, and he just ends up being the third guy because of all the talent that you also have on your roster.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_01]: And if he's your third dude, you're in such a good place.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_01]: If you're really good for agent signing is batting seventh for you, your lineup is good.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly it.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and and and I get I get this the on that level.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_02]: I get the addition because USC does have some really talented freshman coming in and I could see USC Banking on one of them being two little kinds.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and and I don't think that's a bad bet either because that like between Luke weaver and, you know, bumyfester and and Dixon Wallace who was lighting up the the all-American bull this this past weekend like
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think like it was with Tynook and that receiving group, there is simply going to be one of them that comes out of that group.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_02]: And if you want to leave room for those guys to get on the field early, then maybe you do look for a wide receiver three and set a wide receiver two.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that, you know, you mentioned like one of them sort of popping off, like look at SC having do Stravinson, Zachariah branch, Mackay lemon, and Jacoby Lane all in the same recruiting class.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_01]: Mind you, I think they hit on all four of those guys.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_01]: But, Dickson, why it's sorry, Dickson, why it.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't work in harmony all together at once, right?
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and so like, yeah, you're not all of your dudes are gonna be incredible all at the same time.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, everyone develops at a different rate.
- 1:09:11[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone has different bills of health, all those things.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_01]: So the more the merrier, and terms of your opportunities to have your superstar do.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think S.E.'
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_01]: 's receiving core.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think has a lot of pieces to like,
- 1:09:27[SPEAKER_01]: bulletin a cough winner for next season in U.S. receiving core, but I think there's a lot of pieces to like and I think that's a good thing, that there's a lot of pieces to like it's a good thing.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to defense again, Devon Bryant linebacker from Washington, we talked about him last week.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_01]: Another run stopper, run stopping linebacker, number 15 linebacker in the portal he's committed to the Trojans, 62 tackles for the dogs to tackles for loss, PFF great stuff, really great
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, 100% and I think that that's the tricky thing is that again, I don't know that you can have Dev and Brian on the field for all three downs.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_02]: USC couldn't have any of their linebackers on the fields for any down and trust that they were going to be able to stop the run.
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I will take that particular sort of trade-off considering that, and I was just grabbing this to look this up, his run defending PFF grade, run defense was a 72.8, and his tackling
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_02]: better than a lot of a lot of guys at USC.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm looking at the linebackers.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_02]: Eric Gentry had a 67.5 run defending grade.
- 1:11:07[SPEAKER_02]: So that was USC's best run defending linebacker.
- 1:11:11[SPEAKER_02]: And he's well below what what what Brian was to to really compare it.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_02]: You can look at
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm scrolling a long way guys.
- 1:11:22[SPEAKER_02]: I am scrolling a long way.
- 1:11:24[SPEAKER_02]: Jaden Walker 48.3 Desmond Stevens 53.3 so obviously, U.S.ing needs those guys to improve with a quickness, but and Tamir Robinson 56.7.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like U.S. he had guys behind them that were more capable of of doing run defending.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_02]: fix for that particular massive problem at USC.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_02]: And you can deal with your third down past defense in some other way.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_01]: But again, if you address first and second down, you make third down easier.
- 1:12:07[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, you see guys is going to plug in and when the the butt gets no.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_01]: but is he fixing or help you potentially fix an issue?
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I think that's, that is a good thing here.
- 1:12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go do corner, Carrington Pierce.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Christian Prish's brother comes in and from Oklahoma State.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_01]: He was a Jukego transfer, got to Oklahoma State last year, did not play immediately when in the transfer portal in October.
- 1:12:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's Christian Pierce's brother.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I got.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's all I got too.
- 1:12:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's all I got.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_02]: Apparently he did pretty good in in Jukego, but who knows how that will translate.
- 1:12:52[SPEAKER_02]: I view him a little bit like the Kevin Long Street thing where like if he contributes then that's great.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but yeah, like do I expect to see a lot of him?
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_02]: No, not really.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you're relying on him to make a difference, then you're not probably not in a place that you're going to want to be in.
- 1:13:20[SPEAKER_02]: Just like USC was not in a place they wanted to be in when Kevin Longstreet got a lot of playing time.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's just, it is what it is.
- 1:13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, uh, Walklin' Carigad, uh, Punner from Memphis, uh, 43.5 yards per punt, this is the average.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Five puns of 50 plus 19 inside the 20, 21 of 38 puns fair caught.
- 1:13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the numbers aren't extraordinary.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_01]: By any means, they're fine.
- 1:13:53[SPEAKER_01]: He puns.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_01]: He's not terrible.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a leg.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_01]: sure.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't, I don't really have, um, uh, he's a punter.
- 1:14:07[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I just hope that he is, uh, hope that he is good.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_02]: Lachlan Kerrigan what do you hear that name and what do you what do you think I think of like a I think of a BBC crime drama set in like hmm Scotland or something.
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's got one.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Lachlan Kerrigan.
- 1:14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Is that good?
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I think that was pretty kind of right last one and this is the one that I think we've really needed to dive into SE gets Dylan black out of Oregon states Which Leeds the one question at least it when is SE going to get a guy named something cardinal Dylan black went and wore black at Oregon state
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think I see you should get a cardinal guy.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's the long snapper.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_01]: If we never have to say Dylan Black's name on the podcast ever again.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_02]: than that's great than he will have been fantastic yes i i want to never have to talk about dillin black again yeah i am glad that u.s. he has gone out and uh and found themselves a long snapper and uh good luck to him and hopefully uh he enjoys his time at u.s.c.
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_01]: uh yeah yeah i i i cannot evaluate long snappers better than oo snap looks good
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_02]: If he's not bad, if he's a snapper worth bringing in as a transfer, then I feel like that's probably something that's like that's a good sign, you know?
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that like is there a position, I mean, outside or I guess of a pilot, is there a position in which you can never mess up in your career?
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_01]: And if you do have one mess up, then your entire career is just tainted.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you as a long snapper, like if you want to be the NFL, you literally have to go perfect.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, your entire career.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, to sniff an opportunity, like literally perfect.
- 1:16:19[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot have any mistake.
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I immediately went to like the deep sea welders or whatever, but also their career ends if they make a mistake because their life ends.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yes.
- 1:16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:16:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the same with the pilot.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_01]: The pilot.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:16:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, one mistake.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_01]: All souls on board, you know, knock on one.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to the mail bag will wrap this thing up.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_01]: You've got mail.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we got a comment last week.
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, um, we just found out that you can comment on Spotify.
- 1:16:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, today we learned.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_01]: I am so sorry to all the people who've been commenting on Spotify and we have not responded to their comment.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_02]: I legitimately had no idea.
- 1:17:09[SPEAKER_02]: I listened to some, I don't do all my podcasts listening on Spotify, but if I do some of it, I didn't know I as a viewer listener could.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_02]: comment.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no idea.
- 1:17:19[SPEAKER_01]: But apparently it's a thing.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I went back and we've gotten like one or two comments on like every single pod, just about every single episode, this this past season, a few about badder, but like, you know,
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't even put him away today and we didn't realize that he's gotten better.
- 1:17:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's nice and asleep on the last time he obstructed an episode.
- 1:17:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a while because again, again, that what he was going through was a puppy face.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I knew that he would eventually grow out of it.
- 1:17:52[SPEAKER_01]: Not that would.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Puppies are long snappers though.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_01]: One mistake.
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm mistaken.
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_02]: And there's the misforver.
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:18:01[SPEAKER_01]: YouTube comment from B fix.
- 1:18:03[SPEAKER_01]: And when mistaken or was last year on defense, the first time that we had a big transfer portal full of whiffs because I feel in previous year, specifically Riley's first year, we really hit in the portal.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, we had some big hits and big misses, but those guys were highly rated by everyone like Silver and Harvey.
- 1:18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, at least what's your take on this because I've got a take on the current commitments.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Go for it.
- 1:18:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I want to say that the 2023 transfer class was, there were a lot of whiffs there.
- 1:18:39[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the whiffs that receive her with Dorian Singer.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I wanted their, they had to have been whiffs on defense.
- 1:18:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's things just got bad.
- 1:18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I, I think you can make an argument that Anthony Lucas was a whiff.
- 1:18:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can make an argument that Mason Cobb was a whiff.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think those might be a little harsh.
- 1:18:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but but they certainly weren't impact players.
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_01]: The way they were seeing the players the way they expected them to be.
- 1:19:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they played vital roles, but like they weren't as impactful as well, like hoping so the 2023 class had trick on figgins, a non-factor barrel Alexander drama, Emmanuel Pregnant, very good until he left.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Anthony Lucas, Christian Roland Wallace was in 2023, and he was good, Mason Cobb, Jamil Mohammed.
- 1:19:39[SPEAKER_02]: Who's at the fence or the car's?
- 1:19:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, big whiff.
- 1:19:44[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I guess what I mean by this is that I think USC has had whiffs
- 1:19:51[SPEAKER_02]: more or less every season at some point like the I think the issue here is that the whiffs that USC had this year were certainly more impactful than they had been like the year before for instance because at least
- 1:20:08[SPEAKER_02]: John Humphrey and DeKarlas Nicholson were functional corners.
- 1:20:12[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Kvira Ramsey was a resounding success.
- 1:20:15[SPEAKER_02]: East and Masquerina's Arnold and his brother, Akili Arnold, were functioning players on defense.
- 1:20:23[SPEAKER_02]: Nate Clifton and Gavin Meyer were functional defensive linemen.
- 1:20:28[SPEAKER_02]: So like, I think what it was is more that USC in 2024 actually didn't have very many whiffs at all.
- 1:20:37[SPEAKER_02]: uh... in the portal they didn't have any like resounding successes beyond camaraderie but everybody they brought in on defensively street events uh... they'll more or less played and contributed there were a lot there were a lot of starts where the twenty twenty five issue is that chasin johnson got injured and didn't play uh... to mayor robinson didn't play and when he did it wasn't good enough for us say should be starting
- 1:21:03[SPEAKER_02]: uh... Kennedy Erlacker did play a lot but he's still a young player who was clearly thrown in there and out of his death at times bishop of his shareholder all american resounding win but uh... judge error was injured most of the season Kevin Longstreet was playing when he really shouldn't have been uh... DJ Harvey wasn't disaster kishan silver was me
- 1:21:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like Keshum Silver was not better than Gavin Meyer or Nate Clifton.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_02]: That is a problem, you know?
- 1:21:33[SPEAKER_02]: So, yes, I think this past season, USC brought in several transfers that they really needed to hit because they were replacing guys from the year before, and they didn't hit.
- 1:21:47[SPEAKER_02]: So it was quite impactful, especially once the injury bug came around.
- 1:21:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will say that like last year's transfer portal class was excited.
- 1:21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because there were so many big names on Defensive Line, silver and Jared, and yeah, like RV was someone that we expected to be, we talked about him, like we're probably talking about during his Williams, right?
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's a lot of difference in how we talked about him.
- 1:22:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so, those guys not handing out, at least in terms of being productive last season, Judge Eric still has, you know, the boat.
- 1:22:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's still got, you know, time to go with, with eligibility and everything to still.
- 1:22:34[SPEAKER_02]: And it was great cameo in that in the bowl game, so.
- 1:22:37[SPEAKER_01]: And the Purdue game, the things, yeah.
- 1:22:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that, like, looking at this current
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Am I crazy to say that this is the least exciting transfer portal class?
- 1:22:59[SPEAKER_01]: Since the existence of the transfer portal you're not crazy because I don't I I'm excited to see what Alex van Sumer and can do yeah excited to see what drunk his Williams can do None of these guys are selling tickets
- 1:23:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 1:23:16[SPEAKER_02]: Right, but I think that's by design in that we knew that USC was focusing on high school recruiting.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_02]: We knew that they were going to go lighter in the portal.
- 1:23:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:23:26[SPEAKER_02]: In an ideal world, they would have had a jaunt as Williams level signing at every level of the defense, so defense of line linebacker.
- 1:23:37[SPEAKER_02]: But they, you know, they, they haven't done that and so it's been just a little bit me.
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_02]: But on the other hand, what that kind of sets up is
- 1:23:46[SPEAKER_02]: expectations just simply being lower for a lot of these guys like if uh if if which might might end up better in terms of perception yes if Devon Bryant ends up being a locked in starter and upgrade at linebacker then
- 1:24:03[SPEAKER_02]: than that's like, I don't think I'm looking at him as a definite.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to start the entire season next to Desmond Stephen.
- 1:24:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you get the production out of 2026, Devin Bryant that you got out of 2024 Mason Cobb.
- 1:24:20[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he or he said he's a mess Granus Arnold.
- 1:24:23[SPEAKER_02]: I take that.
- 1:24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:24:26[SPEAKER_01]: 2023.
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_01]: Mason Cobb had a lot of hype and didn't live up to that place.
- 1:24:32[SPEAKER_01]: 2024, Mason Cobb was totally fine, but he had already sort of shot his wallet on the hype kind of thing in terms of how FC fans were expecting him to be.
- 1:24:43[SPEAKER_01]: Which I think can be unfair but like when you when you come in with hype like people Or want to be excited and people will be disappointed at things and there will be expectations And like this is one some of the things that like as a as a fan you have to sort of wrestle with and just sort of have understanding that like some guys are just not going to be as great as you think you are and some guys are gonna be way better than you think they will be And what not new hope that balances out in the end and
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing though is that like last year, USC was replacing a lot of starters on defense.
- 1:25:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:25:18[SPEAKER_02]: This year, I mean,
- 1:25:21[SPEAKER_02]: They're replacing guys, but it feels less like they're filling holes and more than just like they're slotting the guy who we obviously knew was going to be moving up into that role.
- 1:25:30[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and was already a contributing player on the field.
- 1:25:33[SPEAKER_02]: So like you lose Anthony Lucas, but Braille and Shelby was there and was always there and it's just basically just now more of a starter than he already was.
- 1:25:41[SPEAKER_02]: You lose Devon Tomkins, you plug in Van Cimmer and you're, you're, you're, you're you're good, but you also don't want to bar
- 1:25:52[SPEAKER_02]: uh... adversary path into that defensive tackle spot hundred percent you don't want to bar the potential of uh... you certainly can't can't can't bar uh... you can't do it from from playing time and you don't want to bar somebody like louke waifel from
- 1:26:08[SPEAKER_02]: potentially being a standout freshman on the edge there.
- 1:26:12[SPEAKER_02]: And the the corner back situation.
- 1:26:15[SPEAKER_02]: You're replacing to Carlos Nicholson, but you bring back Marcelus Williams, you have brought in your DiCarol's Nicholson replacement and potentially upgrade.
- 1:26:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then you have a bunch of guys who.
- 1:26:27[SPEAKER_02]: are at the stage in their career that you want to start seeing them compete for starting jobs.
- 1:26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I want to see what yourselves Williams and Isaiah Rubin and, um, but I guess my concern is like, you're replacing tomorrow Ramsey who, well, that's maybe should have been all American 2024 and Bishop Fitzgerald, who was an all American in 2025 at safety.
- 1:26:51[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the two safety that you're replacing.
- 1:26:53[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, see, and this is, and this is my point of concern is number one, I personally think USC should not be going into the season thinking they only have one line, line backer to replace because for me, you cannot continue to play Desmond Stevens playing the way that he was this past season.
- 1:27:11[SPEAKER_02]: If he improves going in a next season, great, but you cannot have that being plan A and only bringing in one linebacker to sit next to him and delay Jane Walker because he's clearly not ready.
- 1:27:24[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the same thing at safety is like, okay, they're not bringing in a safety clearly.
- 1:27:29[SPEAKER_02]: So what does that tell us?
- 1:27:30[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, they have a lot of faith and Christian peers, I think.
- 1:27:34[SPEAKER_02]: Number two,
- 1:27:35[SPEAKER_02]: They are happy with the Alex Graham Candarius Reddick sort of potential thing there and feel like they're going to plug in those guys and be fine, which may be the case, but it's certainly a risk at some key positions.
- 1:28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I, you know,
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_01]: Joe in the chat says that Chad Bowden hates a tranche portal.
- 1:28:04[SPEAKER_01]: He rather built through high school recruiting in the tranche portal.
- 1:28:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:28:09[SPEAKER_01]: And like, and this might be one of those things.
- 1:28:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not well-in-good for Chad Bowden because Chad Bowden is not on a ticking clock.
- 1:28:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm trying to wrap it up.
- 1:28:17[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, I, I, yeah, I like, I think that when people are wanting immediate results and saying that like, this is Lincoln Riley's final year, I like put up or shut up kind of thing, then
- 1:28:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's how Bowdoin is, yeah, when this rocks you get you know it's fascinating is you're talking about the GM job like the expectation treat like He is not in Bowdoin is not necessarily in a winnow or get fired position, but like it's so interesting because it's the opposite of what you see in the pros Where GMs are so hyper focused on
- 1:29:00[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily win now, but like wouldn't have to keep my job.
- 1:29:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:29:04[SPEAKER_01]: See this in the NHL all the time.
- 1:29:06[SPEAKER_01]: that like people will overpay somebody and like have a deferred contract because like this guy might improve your team for the next six months, but like he's going to suck in three years, but hey, it allowed you to keep your job in other six months and like that kind of thing.
- 1:29:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because yeah, the long haul is the long play is to recruit fantastically and add
- 1:29:33[SPEAKER_01]: when needed in the transfer portal.
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if I'm just having to get to that point and also be able to develop the guys to be able to pay that off, too.
- 1:29:42[SPEAKER_02]: If this was your one of Chad Boden and your one of a new head coach, we'll technically, you're two.
- 1:29:48[SPEAKER_02]: But like recruiting class one of Chad Boden and first year of a new head coach,
- 1:29:54[SPEAKER_02]: we would be looking at the season as a throw away season.
- 1:29:58[SPEAKER_02]: It 2026 would be all about building results would not really matter.
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's all about, yeah, play the freshman, play the young guys because you want to get them ready for 2027, 2028.
- 1:30:08[SPEAKER_02]: The problem is the timelines are all mixed up and we've already been sitting here for three years four years and Bowden is on a is on the year one timeline and Lincoln Riley is on the year five timeline and those don't really
- 1:30:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I guess what I'm saying, what I'm looking at is as fans do we look at it and decide who's timeline we want to be on because if I go in wanting to be on Lincoln Riley's timeline, then he needs to make the play off.
- 1:30:38[SPEAKER_02]: If I go in wanting to be on Chad Bowden's timeline, then I want to see as many of those freshmen play as possible and let the record be what it will be as a result.
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_01]: be given that the transfer portal exists.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_01]: It makes turning around a god awful in the antiprogram potentially turned into a national championship winner.
- 1:31:08[SPEAKER_02]: But you see you're sitting in your one.
- 1:31:10[SPEAKER_01]: No, but what I'm saying here is like you can turn around things very quickly in and out and so like
- 1:31:19[SPEAKER_01]: I hear what you're saying, but the key is you have to do both of those things, because if you had a year in which, yes, you didn't care, it was about developing, you're keen steward and developing, booby-feaster and developing, Cadendix and Wyatt and all these guys, look waffle and Mark Bowman and it's all about developing those guys and you end up having a seven and five season.
- 1:31:46[SPEAKER_01]: But you see some encouraging signs from the players, from the young guys and all that kind of stuff, that might help your program three years from now, but the problem is the world doesn't exist that way anymore, because if you went seven and five, our guys gonna wanna stay around.
- 1:32:10[SPEAKER_01]: You're seven and five, maybe you don't have Lincoln Riley anymore, and if Lincoln Riley leaves and your coaching staff leaves, then you're losing coaches, which forces guys to go into the portal and maybe they're going to want to follow the coach and then like all the guys that you were that we're trying to to nurse up and develop won't be here anymore.
- 1:32:28[SPEAKER_01]: And so you do have to win now and develop your guys with the future and expect that you're going to lose.
- 1:32:35[SPEAKER_02]: dudes along the way and expecting you can have the plug-in dudes along you need to see both the different things at what's like that's what call football is now the Michael the issue is it's very evident to me and it should be evident to everyone else the Lincoln Riley is not being fired after twenty twenty six.
- 1:32:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying like I obviously if you're Riley you need to put up results and he should be able to put up results even with the youth of this roster and all of that like I think that with a good defensive coordinator his offense is good enough to.
- 1:33:10[SPEAKER_02]: to create a team that wins nine or 10 games.
- 1:33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:33:15[SPEAKER_02]: And if they're doing that, then you're sort of right on schedule.
- 1:33:18[SPEAKER_02]: But even if it's eight and four, even if it's seven and five, I'm just telling you guys right now, like he is not getting fired because that number one recruiting class, because it's been very clear that they're setting up for 2027 and 2028.
- 1:33:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and maybe they will decide that they want a new coach to take
- 1:33:40[SPEAKER_02]: but I'm quite confident that 2027 Lincoln Riley will still be that coach.
- 1:33:47[SPEAKER_01]: We will see, we will see everything goes.
- 1:33:51[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of stuff to get to in the off season.
- 1:33:55[SPEAKER_01]: Let's wrap it up there, quick thoughts.
- 1:33:58[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back in one day before the national championship game.
- 1:34:02[SPEAKER_02]: So can I say two things?
- 1:34:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, quick though.
- 1:34:05[SPEAKER_02]: Notre Dame is doing that like their hard knocks kind of in season, documentary thing.
- 1:34:12[SPEAKER_02]: And they put out the episode about skipping the Pop Tarts Bowl.
- 1:34:16[SPEAKER_02]: And God, what an embarrassing thing to put out into the world.
- 1:34:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of those things where, like, I feel like you think that every, it's like,
- 1:34:30[SPEAKER_01]: I me say in this today is weird because I posted something on Instagram, but like It's like when you're right up something You go and read it and you post some long Reddit posts.
- 1:34:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you pour your heart into it And you think everyone's good.
- 1:34:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's an M.I.
- 1:34:48[SPEAKER_01]: the asshole posts and like you're so like
- 1:34:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting a proof right that I am not the asshole here.
- 1:34:55[SPEAKER_01]: I've done all my stuff here.
- 1:34:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've I've barfed all over the keyboard, but like I've put everything in there and it's really long and all this stuff and then everyone reads it and is like Yeah, but actually this is kind of embarrassing.
- 1:35:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah
- 1:35:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's what my reaction to that clip was.
- 1:35:12[SPEAKER_01]: You want the white knight you thought you were kind of deal?
- 1:35:14[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 1:35:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:35:17[SPEAKER_02]: Marcus Freeman praising his players for not wanting to play a football game.
- 1:35:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's not it, but it's not it.
- 1:35:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that was one thing.
- 1:35:28[SPEAKER_02]: And to I am a petty,
- 1:35:32[SPEAKER_02]: petty sports fan who eats shit and fraud as much as I can.
- 1:35:37[SPEAKER_02]: So watching Oregon not only loose Indiana but get blasted by Indiana was one of the more gratifying non-myteam sports moments I've had in a while and we are now guaranteed a national champion that will not
- 1:36:02[SPEAKER_01]: I hear you at the same time, I think S.C. in a lot of ways should aspire to be, to take themselves.
- 1:36:22[SPEAKER_01]: like Oregon sees themselves in the sense that they are willing to spend the money, that they're willing to do anything possible and all that stuff.
- 1:36:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 1:36:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so seeing that doing that still doesn't end having a coach that everyone thinks is a good coach still gets you in a position to get your ass beat in the playoff is like sort of mind bodily because
- 1:36:46[SPEAKER_01]: what we're saying everyone who ran into the Indian opposed 100% 100% but like but it happened to Oregon last year too yeah i mean like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like it's not like
- 1:37:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're going to wrap up there.
- 1:37:17[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be back next week to, uh, I don't know that we'll preview Indiana, uh, beating Miami by 34 probably, but, um, yeah, we'll be back next week.
- 1:37:29[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll be back next week.
- 1:37:31[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe, maybe this time next week, we'll have a defensive coordinator to talk about.
- 1:37:35[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, you never know.
- 1:37:37[SPEAKER_01]: No, we know podcastly works.
- 1:37:38[SPEAKER_01]: It will happen three minutes ago.
- 1:37:41[SPEAKER_02]: or it will happen 43 minutes after our episodes.
- 1:37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:37:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:37:44[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:37:46[SPEAKER_01]: Until next week, we will see you.
- 1:37:48[SPEAKER_01]: See you.
