- 0:00Speaker 1: Third Ney five, chapter nine. And it came to pass,
- 0:04Speaker 1: though there was a voice heard among all the inhabitants
- 0:06Speaker 1: of the earth upon all the face of this land,
- 0:09Speaker 1: crying woe, woe, woe unto this people, woe unto the
- 0:14Speaker 1: inhabitants of the whole earth, except they shall repent for
- 0:18Speaker 1: the devil Laugheth. And as angels rejoice because of the
- 0:21Speaker 1: slain of the fair sons and daughters of my people.
- 0:25Speaker 1: And it is because of their iniquity and abominations that
- 0:27Speaker 1: they are fallen. Behold that great city Zarahemla, have I
- 0:32Speaker 1: burned with fire, and the inhabitants thereof? And behold that
- 0:36Speaker 1: great city Moroni. Have I caused to be sunk in
- 0:39Speaker 1: the depths of the sea, and the inhabitants thereof to
- 0:42Speaker 1: be drowned. And behold that great city moronai Ha have
- 0:45Speaker 1: I covered with earth and the inhabitants thereof to hide
- 0:49Speaker 1: their iniquities and their abominations from before my face, that
- 0:52Speaker 1: the blood of the prophets and the saints shall not
- 0:55Speaker 1: come any more unto me against them. And behold the
- 0:59Speaker 1: city of Guilder have I caused to be sunk, and
- 1:02Speaker 1: the inhabitants thereof, to be buried up in the depths
- 1:05Speaker 1: of the earth. Yea, in the city of Onaiha, and
- 1:07Speaker 1: the inhabitants thereof, In the city of Mocum, and the
- 1:10Speaker 1: inhabitants thereof. In the city of Jerusalem, and the inhabitants
- 1:14Speaker 1: thereof and waters have I caused to come up in
- 1:17Speaker 1: the stead thereof, to hide their wickedness and abominations from
- 1:20Speaker 1: before my face, that the blood of the prophets and
- 1:23Speaker 1: the saints shall not come up any more unto me
- 1:25Speaker 1: against them. And behold the city Gadiandi, and the city
- 1:30Speaker 1: of Gdiomna, and the city of Jacob, and the city
- 1:33Speaker 1: of Gimgimno, all these have I caused to be sunk
- 1:37Speaker 1: and made hills and valleys in the places thereof, And
- 1:40Speaker 1: the inhabitants thereof have I buried up in the depths
- 1:43Speaker 1: of the earth, to hide their wickedness and abominations from
- 1:46Speaker 1: before my face, that the blood of the prophets and
- 1:50Speaker 1: the saints should not come up any more unto me
- 1:52Speaker 1: against them. And behold that great city Jacobugath, which was
- 1:57Speaker 1: inhabited by the people of King Jacob, have I caused
- 2:00Speaker 1: to be burned with fire, because of their sins and
- 2:03Speaker 1: their wickedness, which was above all the wickedness of the
- 2:05Speaker 1: whole earth, because of their secret murders and combinations. For
- 2:10Speaker 1: it was they that did destroy the peace of my
- 2:12Speaker 1: people and the government of the land. Therefore I did
- 2:15Speaker 1: cause them to be burned, to destroy them from before
- 2:18Speaker 1: my face, that the blood of the prophets and the
- 2:21Speaker 1: saints should not come up unto me any more against them.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And to behold the city of Laymen, in the city
- 2:28Speaker 1: of Josh, and the city of Gad, and the city
- 2:30Speaker 1: of Kishkumen, have I caused to be burned with fire,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and the inhabitants thereof because of their wickedness. In casting
- 2:37Speaker 1: out the prophets and stoning those whom I did scent
- 2:41Speaker 1: to declare unto them concerning their wickedness and their abominations,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and because they did cast them all out, that there
- 2:48Speaker 1: were none righteous among them, I did send down fire
- 2:51Speaker 1: and destroy them, that their wickedness and abominations might be
- 2:55Speaker 1: hid from before my face, that the blood of the
- 2:58Speaker 1: prophets and the saints, whom my scent among them, might
- 3:01Speaker 1: not cry unto me from the ground against them. And
- 3:05Speaker 1: many great destructions have I caused to come upon this
- 3:09Speaker 1: land and upon this people, because of their wickedness and
- 3:12Speaker 1: their abominations. Oh, while ye that are spared because ye
- 3:16Speaker 1: were more righteous than they, will ye not now return
- 3:21Speaker 1: unto me and repent of your sins and be converted
- 3:24Speaker 1: that I may heal you. Yea verily, I say unto you.
- 3:28Speaker 1: If ye will come unto me, ye shall have eternal life. Behold,
- 3:32Speaker 1: mine arm of mercy is extended towards you. And whosoever
- 3:37Speaker 1: will come him, will I receive. And blessed are those
- 3:40Speaker 1: who come unto me. Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the
- 3:45Speaker 1: Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and all things that in them are. I was with
- 3:51Speaker 1: the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father,
- 3:54Speaker 1: and the Father in me, and in me hath the
- 3:57Speaker 1: Father glorified his name. I I came unto my own,
- 4:01Speaker 1: and my own received me not. And the scriptures concerning
- 4:05Speaker 1: my coming are fulfilled. And as many as have received
- 4:09Speaker 1: me to them have I given to become the sons
- 4:12Speaker 1: of God. And even so will I to as many
- 4:15Speaker 1: as shall believe on my name. For behold, by me,
- 4:19Speaker 1: redemption cometh, and in me is the law of Moses fulfilled.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I am the Light and the life of the world.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And ye shall offer up unto me no more the
- 4:35Speaker 1: shedding of blood. Yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings
- 4:40Speaker 1: shall be done away. For I will accept none of
- 4:43Speaker 1: your sacrifices and your burnt offerings. And ye shall offer
- 4:47Speaker 1: for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a
- 4:50Speaker 1: contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken
- 4:54Speaker 1: heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with
- 4:58Speaker 1: fire and with the Holy Ghost. Even as the Lamanites,
- 5:02Speaker 1: because of their faith in Me, at the time of
- 5:04Speaker 1: their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and they knew it not. Behold, I have come unto
- 5:11Speaker 1: the world to bring redemption, unto the world, to save
- 5:15Speaker 1: the world from sin. Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto
- 5:21Speaker 1: me as a little child, him will I receive. For
- 5:25Speaker 1: of such is the Kingdom of God. Behold, for such
- 5:30Speaker 1: I have laid down my life and have taken it
- 5:32Speaker 1: up again. Therefore, repent and come unto me, ye ends
- 5:36Speaker 1: of the earth, and be saved. Third Nephive, chapter ten.
- 5:44Speaker 1: And now behold, it came to pass that all the
- 5:47Speaker 1: people of the land did hear these sayings and did
- 5:50Speaker 1: witness of it. And after these sayings there was silence
- 5:53Speaker 1: in the land for the space of many hours. For
- 5:56Speaker 1: so great was the astonishment of the people, that they
- 5:59Speaker 1: did cease lamenting and howling for the loss of their
- 6:01Speaker 1: kindred which had been slain. Therefore there was silence in
- 6:05Speaker 1: all the land for the space of many hours. And
- 6:09Speaker 1: it came to pass that there came a voice again
- 6:11Speaker 1: unto the people, and all the people did hear and
- 6:14Speaker 1: did witness of it, saying, O ye, people of these
- 6:18Speaker 1: great cities which have fallen, who are descendants of Jacob, yea,
- 6:22Speaker 1: who are of the House of Israel, how oft have
- 6:26Speaker 1: I gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens under
- 6:29Speaker 1: her wings, and have nourished you? And again, how oft
- 6:34Speaker 1: would I have gathered you as a hen gathereth her
- 6:36Speaker 1: chickens under her wings? Yea, o ye people of the
- 6:40Speaker 1: House of Israel who have fallen, yea, O ye people
- 6:43Speaker 1: of the House of Israel, ye that dwell at Jerusalem,
- 6:47Speaker 1: as ye that have fallen, yea, How oft would I
- 6:51Speaker 1: have gathered you as a hen gathereth her chickens, and
- 6:54Speaker 1: ye would not o ye house of Israel, whom I
- 6:58Speaker 1: have spared. How how oft will I gather you as
- 7:01Speaker 1: a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, if you
- 7:05Speaker 1: will repent and return unto me with full purpose of heart.
- 7:10Speaker 1: But if not a house of Israel, the places of
- 7:12Speaker 1: your dwellings shall become desolate until the time of the
- 7:16Speaker 1: fulfilling of the covenant to your fathers. And now it
- 7:20Speaker 1: came to pass that after the people had heard these
- 7:22Speaker 1: words behold, they began to weep and howl again because
- 7:26Speaker 1: of the loss of their kindred and friends. And it
- 7:30Speaker 1: came to pass that thus did the three days pass away.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And it was in the morning, and the darkness dispersed
- 7:37Speaker 1: from off the face of the land, and the earth
- 7:40Speaker 1: did cease to tremble, and the rocks did cease to rend,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and the dreadful groanings did cease, and all the tumultuous
- 7:48Speaker 1: noises did pass away, and the earth did cleave together
- 7:52Speaker 1: again that it stood, and the mourning and the weeping
- 7:56Speaker 1: and the wailing of the people who were spared alive
- 7:59Speaker 1: did cease, and their mourning was turned into joy, and
- 8:03Speaker 1: their lamentations into the praise and thanksgiving unto the Lord
- 8:08Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, their redeemer. And thus far were the scriptures
- 8:12Speaker 1: fulfilled which had been spoken by the prophets. And it
- 8:16Speaker 1: was the more righteous part of the people who were saved.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And it was they who received the prophets and stoned
- 8:22Speaker 1: them not. And it was they who had not shed
- 8:25Speaker 1: the blood of the saints, who were spared. And they
- 8:29Speaker 1: were spared, and were not sunk and buried up in
- 8:31Speaker 1: the earth. And they were not drowned in the depths
- 8:34Speaker 1: of the sea, and they were not burned by fire,
- 8:38Speaker 1: neither were they fallen upon and crushed to death. And
- 8:41Speaker 1: they were not carried away in the whirlwind, neither were
- 8:44Speaker 1: they overpowered by the vapor of smoke and of darkness.
- 8:48Speaker 1: And now whoso readeth, let him understand he that hath
- 8:52Speaker 1: the scriptures, Let him search them and see and behold,
- 8:55Speaker 1: if all these deaths and destructions, by fire and by smoke,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and by tempests, and by whirl winds, and by the
- 9:00Speaker 1: opening of the earth to receive them, and all these
- 9:03Speaker 1: things are not into the fulfilling of the prophecies of
- 9:06Speaker 1: many of the Holy prophets. Behold, I say, and to yea,
- 9:10Speaker 1: many have testified of these things at the coming of Christ,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and were slain because they testified of these things. Yea,
- 9:17Speaker 1: the prophet Zenas did testify of these things, and also
- 9:21Speaker 1: Zenik spake concerning these things, because they testified, particularly concerning us,
- 9:27Speaker 1: who are the remnant of their seed. Behold, our father
- 9:30Speaker 1: Jacob also testified concerning a remnant of the seed of Joseph.
- 9:34Speaker 1: And behold are not we a remnant of the seed
- 9:37Speaker 1: of Joseph? And these things which testify of us? Are
- 9:41Speaker 1: they not written upon the plates of brass which our
- 9:43Speaker 1: father Lehi brought out of Jerusalem. And it came to
- 9:47Speaker 1: pass that in the ending of the thirty and fourth year. Behold,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I will show unto you that the people of Nephi
- 9:53Speaker 1: who were spared, and also those who had been called
- 9:56Speaker 1: Lamanites who had been spared, did have eight favors shown
- 10:01Speaker 1: unto them, and great blessings poured out upon their heads.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Insomuch that soon after the ascension of Christ into Heaven,
- 10:08Speaker 1: he did truly manifest himself unto them, showing his body
- 10:13Speaker 1: unto them and ministering unto them. And an account of
- 10:16Speaker 1: his ministry shall be given hereafter. Therefore, for this time
- 10:21Speaker 1: I make an end of my sayings. Third Nephi, Chapter eleven.
- 10:27Speaker 1: And now it came to pass that there were a
- 10:30Speaker 1: great multitude gathered together of the people of Nephi round
- 10:33Speaker 1: about the temple, which was in the land bountiful. And
- 10:36Speaker 1: they were marveling and wondering one with another, and were
- 10:39Speaker 1: showing one to another the great and marvelous change which
- 10:43Speaker 1: had taken place. And they were also conversing about this
- 10:47Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, of whom the sign had been given concerning
- 10:50Speaker 1: his death. And it came to pass that while they
- 10:54Speaker 1: were thus conversing one with another, they heard a voice,
- 10:59Speaker 1: as if it came out of and they cast their
- 11:01Speaker 1: eyes round about, for they understood not the voice which
- 11:04Speaker 1: they heard, And it was not a harsh voice, neither
- 11:08Speaker 1: was it a loud voice. Nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being
- 11:11Speaker 1: a small voice, it did pierce them that did hear,
- 11:15Speaker 1: to the center, insomuch that there was no part of
- 11:18Speaker 1: their frame that it did not cause to quake. Yea,
- 11:22Speaker 1: it did pierce them to the very soul, and did
- 11:26Speaker 1: cause their hearts to burn. And it came to pass
- 11:29Speaker 1: that again they heard the voice, and they understood it not.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And again the third time they did hear the voice,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and it opened their ears to hear it, and their
- 11:40Speaker 1: eyes were towards the sound thereof, and they did look
- 11:43Speaker 1: steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came, and behold,
- 11:48Speaker 1: the third time they did understand the voice which they heard,
- 11:52Speaker 1: and it said unto them, behold my beloved son, in
- 11:58Speaker 1: whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified
- 12:02Speaker 1: my name. Here ye him. And it came to pass
- 12:07Speaker 1: as they understood. They cast their eyes up again towards heaven,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and behold they saw a man descending out of heaven,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and he was clothed in a white robe. And he
- 12:19Speaker 1: came down and stood in the midst of them, and
- 12:21Speaker 1: the eyes of the whole multitude were turned upon him.
- 12:25Speaker 1: And they durst not open their mouths, even one to another,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and wist not what it meant, for they thought it
- 12:33Speaker 1: was an angel that had appeared unto them. And it
- 12:36Speaker 1: came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and
- 12:40Speaker 1: spake unto the people, saying, behold, I am Jesus Christ,
- 12:46Speaker 1: whom the prophets testified, shall come into the world. And behold,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I am the Light and the life of the world.
- 12:53Speaker 1: And I have drunk out of that bitter cup which
- 12:56Speaker 1: the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father
- 12:59Speaker 1: in taken upon me the sins of the world, in
- 13:02Speaker 1: the which I have suffered the will of the Father
- 13:05Speaker 1: in all things from the beginning. And it came to
- 13:08Speaker 1: pass that when Jesus had spoken these words, the whole
- 13:11Speaker 1: multitude fell to the earth, for they remembered that it
- 13:15Speaker 1: had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself
- 13:19Speaker 1: unto them after his ascension into heaven. And it came
- 13:22Speaker 1: to pass that the Lord spake unto them, saying, arise,
- 13:26Speaker 1: and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your
- 13:30Speaker 1: hands into my side, and also that ye may feel
- 13:32Speaker 1: the Prince of the Nails in my hands and in
- 13:34Speaker 1: my feet, that ye may know that I am the
- 13:37Speaker 1: God of Israel and the God of the whole earth,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and have been slain for the sins of the world.
- 13:43Speaker 1: And it came to pass that the multitude went forth
- 13:45Speaker 1: and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel
- 13:49Speaker 1: the Prince of the Nails in his hands and in
- 13:52Speaker 1: his feet. And this they did do, going forth one
- 13:56Speaker 1: by one until they had all gone forth, did see
- 14:00Speaker 1: with their eyes, and did feel with their hands, and
- 14:04Speaker 1: did know of a surety, and did bear record that
- 14:06Speaker 1: it was he of whom it was written by the prophets,
- 14:10Speaker 1: that should come. And when they had all gone forth
- 14:13Speaker 1: and had witnessed for themselves, they did cry out with
- 14:16Speaker 1: one accord, saying, Hosanna, blessed be the name of the
- 14:20Speaker 1: Most High God. And they did fall down at the
- 14:24Speaker 1: feet of Jesus and did worship him. And it came
- 14:28Speaker 1: to pass that he spake unto Nephi, for Nephi was
- 14:32Speaker 1: among the multitude, and he commanded him that he should
- 14:35Speaker 1: come forth. And Nephi arose and went forth, and bowed
- 14:40Speaker 1: himself before the Lord, and did kiss his feet. And
- 14:44Speaker 1: the Lord commanded him that he should rise, and he
- 14:47Speaker 1: arose and stood before him. And the Lord said unto him,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I give unto you power that ye shall baptize this
- 14:55Speaker 1: people when I am again ascended into heaven. And again
- 14:59Speaker 1: the lo Lord called others and said unto them likewise,
- 15:03Speaker 1: and he gave unto them power to baptize. And he
- 15:06Speaker 1: said unto them, on this wise shall ye baptize, and
- 15:10Speaker 1: there shall be no disputations among you. Verily, I say
- 15:14Speaker 1: unto you, that who shall repenteth of his sins through
- 15:18Speaker 1: your words, and desirous to be baptized in my name,
- 15:22Speaker 1: on this wise shall ye baptize them. Behold, ye shall
- 15:26Speaker 1: go down and stand in the water, and in my
- 15:29Speaker 1: name shall ye baptize them. And now behold, these are
- 15:34Speaker 1: the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying,
- 15:39Speaker 1: having authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you
- 15:43Speaker 1: in the name of the Father and of the Son
- 15:46Speaker 1: and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. And then shall ye
- 15:50Speaker 1: immerse them in the water, and come forth again out
- 15:53Speaker 1: of the water. And after this manner shall ye baptize
- 15:56Speaker 1: in my name. For behold, verily, I say unto you
- 16:00Speaker 1: you that the Father and the Son and the Holy
- 16:02Speaker 1: Ghost are one, and I am in the Father, and
- 16:06Speaker 1: the Father in me, and the Father and I are one.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And according as I have commanded you, thus shall you baptize.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And there shall be no disputations among you, as there
- 16:16Speaker 1: have hitherto been. Neither shall there be disputations among you
- 16:20Speaker 1: concerning the points of my doctrine, as there have hitherto been.
- 16:25Speaker 1: For verily, verily, I say unto you. He that hath
- 16:29Speaker 1: the spirit of contention is not of me, but is
- 16:32Speaker 1: of the devil, who is the father of contention, and
- 16:36Speaker 1: he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with
- 16:39Speaker 1: anger one with another. Behold, this is not my doctrine,
- 16:43Speaker 1: to stir up the hearts of man with anger one
- 16:46Speaker 1: against another. But this is my doctrine, that such things
- 16:50Speaker 1: should be done away. Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I will declare unto you my doctrine. And this is
- 16:59Speaker 1: my doctrine. And it is the doctrine which the Father
- 17:02Speaker 1: hath given unto me. And I bear record of the Father,
- 17:06Speaker 1: and the Father beareth record of me, and the Holy
- 17:09Speaker 1: Ghost beareth record of the Father and me. And I
- 17:13Speaker 1: bear record that the Father commandeth all men everywhere to
- 17:16Speaker 1: repent and believe in Me. And whoso believeth in me
- 17:21Speaker 1: and is baptized, the same shall be saved. And they
- 17:26Speaker 1: are they who shall inherit the Kingdom of God. And
- 17:30Speaker 1: whoso believeth not in Me and is not baptized, shall
- 17:34Speaker 1: be damned. Verily, verily, I say unto you that this
- 17:38Speaker 1: is my doctrine, and I bear record of it from
- 17:42Speaker 1: the Father, and whoso believeth in me, believeth in the
- 17:46Speaker 1: Father also, and unto him will the Father bear record
- 17:49Speaker 1: of me, For he will visit him with fire and
- 17:53Speaker 1: with the Holy Ghost. And thus will the Father bear
- 17:57Speaker 1: record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record
- 17:59Speaker 1: unto him of the Father and me. For the Father
- 18:03Speaker 1: and I and the Holy Ghost are one. And again
- 18:06Speaker 1: I say unto you, ye must repent and become as
- 18:10Speaker 1: a little child, and be baptized in my name, or
- 18:14Speaker 1: ye can in no wise receive these things. And again
- 18:18Speaker 1: I say unto you, ye must repent and be baptized
- 18:22Speaker 1: in my name, and become as a little child, or
- 18:26Speaker 1: ye can in no wise inherit the Kingdom of God. Verily, verily,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I say unto you that this is my doctrine. And
- 18:34Speaker 1: whoso buildeth upon this, buildeth upon my rock, and the
- 18:39Speaker 1: gates of hell shall not prevail against them. And whoso
- 18:43Speaker 1: shall declare more or less than this and establish it
- 18:46Speaker 1: for my doctrine. The same cometh of evil and is
- 18:50Speaker 1: not built upon my rock. But he buildeth upon a
- 18:53Speaker 1: sandy foundation, And the gates of hell stand open to
- 18:57Speaker 1: receive such when the floods come and the wind beat
- 19:00Speaker 1: upon them. Therefore, go forth unto this people, and declare
- 19:05Speaker 1: the words which I have spoken unto the ends of
- 19:08Speaker 1: the earth. A third Nephi, Chapter twelve. And it came
- 19:14Speaker 1: to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words unto
- 19:17Speaker 1: Nephi and to those who had been called, now the
- 19:21Speaker 1: number of them who had been called and received power
- 19:24Speaker 1: and authority to baptize was twelve. And behold, he stretched
- 19:28Speaker 1: forth his hand unto the multitude and cried unto them, saying,
- 19:32Speaker 1: blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the
- 19:34Speaker 1: words of these twelve, whom I have chosen from among
- 19:37Speaker 1: you to minister unto you and to be your servants.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And unto them I have given power that they may
- 19:43Speaker 1: baptize you with water. And after that ye are baptized
- 19:47Speaker 1: with water. Behold, I will baptize you with fire and
- 19:50Speaker 1: with the Holy Ghost. Therefore, blessed are ye if ye
- 19:54Speaker 1: shall believe in me and be baptized after that ye
- 19:58Speaker 1: have seen me and know that I am. And again
- 20:01Speaker 1: more blessed are they who shall believe in your words,
- 20:04Speaker 1: because that ye shall testify that ye have seen me,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and that ye know that I am. Yea blessed are
- 20:11Speaker 1: they who shall believe in your words and come down
- 20:14Speaker 1: into the depths of humility and be baptized. For they
- 20:18Speaker 1: shall be visited with fire and with the Holy Ghost,
- 20:21Speaker 1: and shall receive a remission of their sins. Yea, blessed
- 20:25Speaker 1: are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for
- 20:28Speaker 1: theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. And again, blessed are
- 20:32Speaker 1: all they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. And
- 20:36Speaker 1: blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
- 20:40Speaker 1: And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst
- 20:43Speaker 1: after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And blessed are all the pure in heart, for they
- 20:56Speaker 1: shall see God. And blessed are all the peace mays,
- 21:00Speaker 1: for they shall be called the children of God. And
- 21:04Speaker 1: blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name's sake,
- 21:07Speaker 1: For theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. And blessed are ye.
- 21:11Speaker 1: When men shall revile you and persecute, and shall say
- 21:15Speaker 1: all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake,
- 21:19Speaker 1: for ye shall have great joy and be exceedingly glad,
- 21:22Speaker 1: for great shall be your reward in heaven, for so
- 21:26Speaker 1: persecuted they the prophets who were before you. Verily, verily,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I say unto you, I give unto you to be
- 21:33Speaker 1: the salt of the earth. But if the salt shall
- 21:36Speaker 1: lose its savor, wherewith shall the earth be salted. The
- 21:39Speaker 1: salt shall be thenceforth good for nothing but to be
- 21:43Speaker 1: cast out and to be trodden under foot of men. Verily,
- 21:47Speaker 1: verily I say unto you, I give unto you to
- 21:51Speaker 1: be the light of this people. A city that is
- 21:54Speaker 1: set on a hill cannot be hid. Behold, do men
- 21:58Speaker 1: light a candle and put it under a bushel, Nay,
- 22:02Speaker 1: but on a candlestick, and it giveth light to all
- 22:05Speaker 1: that are in the house. Therefore, let your light so
- 22:09Speaker 1: shine before this people, that they may see your good
- 22:12Speaker 1: works and glorify your Father, who is in heaven. Think
- 22:17Speaker 1: not that I am come to destroy the Law or
- 22:20Speaker 1: the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
- 22:25Speaker 1: For verily I say unto you, one jot nor tittle
- 22:29Speaker 1: hath not passed away from the Law. But in me
- 22:32Speaker 1: it hath all been fulfilled. And behold, I have given
- 22:36Speaker 1: you the Law and the commandments of my Father, that
- 22:39Speaker 1: ye shall believe in me, and that ye shall repent
- 22:42Speaker 1: of your sins and come unto me with a broken
- 22:44Speaker 1: heart and a contrite spirit. Behold, ye have the commandments
- 22:49Speaker 1: before you, and the law is fulfilled. Therefore, come unto me,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and be ye saved for Verily. I say unto you
- 22:57Speaker 1: that except ye shall keep my commandment which I have
- 23:00Speaker 1: commanded you at this time, ye shall in no case
- 23:04Speaker 1: enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Ye have heard that
- 23:07Speaker 1: it hath been said by them of old time, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: it is also written before you that thou shalt not kill,
- 23:14Speaker 1: and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the
- 23:17Speaker 1: judgment of God. But I say unto you that whosoever
- 23:21Speaker 1: is angry with his brother shall be in danger of
- 23:24Speaker 1: his judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother raca
- 23:28Speaker 1: shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall
- 23:32Speaker 1: say thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore,
- 23:38Speaker 1: if ye shall come unto me, or shall desire to
- 23:41Speaker 1: come unto me, and rememberest that thy brother hast aught
- 23:45Speaker 1: against thee, go thy way unto thy brother, and first
- 23:49Speaker 1: be reconciled to thy brother, and then come unto me
- 23:53Speaker 1: with full purpose of heart, and I will receive you.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Agree with thine adversary quickly while thou art in the
- 24:01Speaker 1: way with him, lest at any time he shall get thee,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and thou shalt be cast into prison. Verily, verily, I
- 24:08Speaker 1: say unto thee, thou shalt, by no means come out,
- 24:11Speaker 1: thence until thou hast paid the uttermost senine. And while
- 24:16Speaker 1: ye are in prison, can ye pay even one seenine? Verily,
- 24:20Speaker 1: verily I say unto you, nay. Behold, it is written
- 24:25Speaker 1: by them of old time that thou shalt not commit adultery.
- 24:30Speaker 1: But I say unto you that whosoever looketh on a
- 24:32Speaker 1: woman to lust after her hath committed adultery already in
- 24:36Speaker 1: his heart. Behold, I give unto you a commandment that
- 24:40Speaker 1: ye suffer none of these things to enter into your heart.
- 24:43Speaker 1: For it is better that ye should deny yourselves of
- 24:46Speaker 1: these things, wherein ye will take up your cross, than
- 24:50Speaker 1: that ye should be cast into hell. It hath been
- 24:54Speaker 1: written that whosoever shall put away his wife, let him
- 24:57Speaker 1: give her a riding of divorcement. Verily, verily, I say
- 25:01Speaker 1: unto you that whosoever shall put away his wife, saving
- 25:04Speaker 1: for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery.
- 25:09Speaker 1: And whoso shall marry her who is divorced, committeth adultery.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And again it is written, thou shalt not forswear thyself,
- 25:17Speaker 1: but shalt perform unto the Lord of thine oaths. But verily, verily,
- 25:22Speaker 1: I say unto you, swear not at all, neither by heaven,
- 25:25Speaker 1: for it is God's throne, nor by the earth, for
- 25:28Speaker 1: it is his footstool. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head,
- 25:32Speaker 1: because thou canst not make one hair black or white.
- 25:36Speaker 1: But let your communication be yea yea, nay, nay, For
- 25:41Speaker 1: whatsoever cometh of more than these is evil. And behold
- 25:46Speaker 1: it is written an eye for an eye, and a
- 25:49Speaker 1: tooth for a tooth. But I say unto you that
- 25:52Speaker 1: ye shall not resist evil. But whosoever shall smite THEE
- 25:56Speaker 1: on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
- 26:00Speaker 1: And if any man will sue THEE at the law
- 26:02Speaker 1: and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And whosoever shall compel THEE to go a mile, go
- 26:09Speaker 1: with him. Twain Give to him that asketh thee, and
- 26:14Speaker 1: from him that would borrow of thee turn not away.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And behold. It is written also that thou shalt love
- 26:21Speaker 1: thy neighbor and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you,
- 26:26Speaker 1: love your enemies, Bless them that curse you, Do good
- 26:31Speaker 1: to them that hate you, and pray for them who
- 26:35Speaker 1: despitefully use you and persecute you. That ye may be
- 26:40Speaker 1: the children of your father, who is in heaven, for
- 26:43Speaker 1: he maketh his son to rise on the evil and
- 26:45Speaker 1: on the good. Therefore, those things which were of old time,
- 26:50Speaker 1: which were under the law in me, are all fulfilled.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Old things are done away, and all things have become new.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Therefore I would they ye should be perfect, even as
- 27:02Speaker 1: I or your Father, who is in heaven, is perfect.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Third Nephi, Chapter thirteen. Verily, verily, I say that I
- 27:11Speaker 1: would that ye should do alms unto the poor. But
- 27:15Speaker 1: take heed that ye do not your alms before men
- 27:18Speaker 1: to be seen of them. Otherwise ye have no reward
- 27:21Speaker 1: of your father, who is in heaven. Therefore, when ye
- 27:23Speaker 1: shall do your alms, do not sound a trumpet before you,
- 27:26Speaker 1: as will hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets,
- 27:29Speaker 1: that they may have glory of men. Verily I say
- 27:32Speaker 1: unto you, they have their reward. But when thou doest alms,
- 27:37Speaker 1: let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth,
- 27:41Speaker 1: that thine alms may be in secret, and thy father,
- 27:44Speaker 1: who seeth in secret himself, shall reward thee openly. And
- 27:48Speaker 1: when thou prayest, thou shalt not do as to hypocrites,
- 27:51Speaker 1: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and
- 27:54Speaker 1: in the corners of the streets, that they may be
- 27:56Speaker 1: seen of men. Verily, I say unto you, they have
- 27:59Speaker 1: their rear lord. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into
- 28:03Speaker 1: thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray
- 28:07Speaker 1: to thy father, who is in secret. And thy father,
- 28:10Speaker 1: who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. But when
- 28:14Speaker 1: ye pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen, for
- 28:18Speaker 1: they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Be not ye therefore like unto them, For your father
- 28:25Speaker 1: knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him.
- 28:29Speaker 1: After this manner, therefore pray ye, our father, who art
- 28:34Speaker 1: in heaven hollowed, be thy name. Thy will be done
- 28:38Speaker 1: on earth as it is in heaven, And forgive us
- 28:42Speaker 1: our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us
- 28:46Speaker 1: not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine
- 28:51Speaker 1: is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
- 28:57Speaker 1: For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father
- 29:00Speaker 1: will also forgive you. But if ye forgive not men
- 29:04Speaker 1: their trespasses, neither will your father forgive your trespasses. Moreover,
- 29:09Speaker 1: when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites of a
- 29:11Speaker 1: sad countenance, for they disfigure their faces that they may
- 29:14Speaker 1: appear unto men to fast. Verily, I say unto you,
- 29:18Speaker 1: they have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint
- 29:23Speaker 1: thy head and wash thy face, that thou appear not
- 29:26Speaker 1: unto men to fast, but unto thy father, who is
- 29:28Speaker 1: in secret, And thy father, who seeth in secret, shall
- 29:32Speaker 1: reward thee Openly, lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
- 29:37Speaker 1: where moth and rust doth corrupt, and thieves break through
- 29:42Speaker 1: and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
- 29:46Speaker 1: where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves
- 29:50Speaker 1: do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure
- 29:54Speaker 1: is there will your heart be Also, the light of
- 29:59Speaker 1: the body is the eye. If therefore thine eye be single,
- 30:03Speaker 1: thy whole body shall be full of light. But if
- 30:06Speaker 1: thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full
- 30:09Speaker 1: of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee
- 30:12Speaker 1: be darkness, how great is that darkness. No man can
- 30:17Speaker 1: serve two masters, for either he will hate the one
- 30:21Speaker 1: and love the other, or else he will hold to
- 30:24Speaker 1: the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God
- 30:28Speaker 1: and Mammon. And now it came to pass that when
- 30:32Speaker 1: Jesus had spoken these words, he looked upon the twelve
- 30:34Speaker 1: whom he had chosen, and said, unto them, remember the
- 30:38Speaker 1: words which I have spoken. For behold ye are they
- 30:42Speaker 1: whom I have chosen to minister unto this people. Therefore
- 30:45Speaker 1: I say unto you. Take no thought for your life
- 30:48Speaker 1: what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, Nor
- 30:51Speaker 1: yet for your body what ye shall put on. Is
- 30:54Speaker 1: not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Behold the fowls of thee, for they sow not, neither
- 31:02Speaker 1: do they reap nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly
- 31:05Speaker 1: Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they
- 31:10Speaker 1: which of you, by taking thought, can add one cubit
- 31:12Speaker 1: unto his stature. And why take ye thought for raiment?
- 31:17Speaker 1: Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they toil,
- 31:21Speaker 1: not neither do they spin. And yet I say unto
- 31:25Speaker 1: you that even Solomon, in all his glory, was not
- 31:28Speaker 1: arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothes
- 31:32Speaker 1: the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow
- 31:35Speaker 1: is cast into the oven, even so will He clothe you,
- 31:39Speaker 1: if ye are not of little faith. Therefore, take no
- 31:43Speaker 1: thought saying what shall we eat, or what shall we drink?
- 31:47Speaker 1: Or wherewithal shall we be clothed. For your heavenly Father
- 31:52Speaker 1: knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But
- 31:56Speaker 1: seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and all these things shall be added unto you. Take
- 32:04Speaker 1: therefore no thought for the morrow, For the morrow shall
- 32:07Speaker 1: take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient is the
- 32:11Speaker 1: day unto the evil thereof and of thirty five, Chapters
- 32:16Speaker 1: nine through thirteen
