Speaker 1: Welcome back to Born to the Game. We are doing
• 0:04
Speaker 1: a quick recap of our conversation with our girl, Kylie Evans,
• 0:08
Speaker 1: a conversation that was honest, grounded, and full of personality.
• 0:13
Speaker 1: There was so many joyous moments in this episode, and
• 0:16
Speaker 1: we wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on
• 0:19
Speaker 1: what really stayed with us.
• 0:23
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, what's Kyie is just?
• 0:27
  Speaker 1: Oh my god, a beautiful storyteller. She's a fashionista, she's
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: incredibly talented.
• 0:34
  Speaker 2: She's just she's.
• 0:36
Speaker 1: So perky and just full of energy and light and life.
• 0:42
Speaker 1: And it was an incredible conversation.
• 0:44
Speaker 2: It was so much fun.
• 0:45
Speaker 3: What I really love about Kylie is Kylie is much
• 0:48
  Speaker 3: younger than us.
• 0:49
Speaker 2: Okay, let's put that there. Yeah she is, But doesn't
• 0:52
Speaker 2: it seem like she's from the nineties?
• 0:56
Speaker 1: Aura and how she It could be just how she dresses,
• 0:59
Speaker 1: how she talked, how she how she walks, just her
• 1:02
  Speaker 1: whole vibe.
• 1:03
Speaker 2: But she walked in.
• 1:04
Speaker 4: I was like she I was like, you know what
• 1:06
Speaker 4: they saw? They said, the kids, you know she's been
• 1:08
Speaker 4: here before. It's like, Kylie, I think you've been here
• 1:10
Speaker 4: before because she's so mature and like you said in
• 1:17
Speaker 4: the intro, like she is so good at telling stories,
• 1:22
Speaker 4: like her storytelling is is unmatched, and people will see
• 1:26
Speaker 4: that in the episode.
• 1:28
Speaker 2: But yeah, I loved taking out with.
• 1:30
Speaker 4: Kylie because the laughs, the were so real, Like is
• 1:36
Speaker 4: the raws that we could, you know, offer the.
• 1:40
Speaker 2: Story? It was so much fun. The games, Oh my god,
• 1:43
  Speaker 2: I'm thinking.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: And I don't want to give it away, but I
• 1:45
Speaker 1: know by this time viewers would have already seen it.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: When she was talking about Dennis Rodman hitting the.
• 1:52
Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, girl, I fell out.
• 1:55
Speaker 1: When she was talking about Britney Spears and the impersonation
• 2:00
Speaker 1: she is again, I'm I'm just excited to see where
• 2:04
Speaker 1: her career takes her within.
• 2:06
Speaker 2: The next five to ten years.
• 2:07
Speaker 1: And I just think there's something really powerful about seeing
• 2:11
Speaker 1: a young black woman step into storytelling like this, because
• 2:17
Speaker 1: whether she realizes it or not, I believe she's she's
• 2:21
Speaker 1: going to inspire at least one little girl out there
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: to believe.
• 2:26
Speaker 2: That she's same, Like she's already so.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: Many doors and possibilities for other young women who aspire
• 2:34
Speaker 1: to do what she's doing.
• 2:35
Speaker 2: So yeah, I think she's next.
• 2:38
Speaker 4: I think I think just from talking with her, like
• 2:44
Speaker 4: you know, how you see you can just see it
• 2:47
Speaker 4: or I can visualize it, like I feel like she's
• 2:49
  Speaker 4: the next big.
• 2:52
Speaker 2: You know, director coming up.
• 2:54
Speaker 4: She's upcoming, She's got everything that it takes to do it.
• 3:00
Speaker 2: So I'm just expecting that.
• 3:02
Speaker 4: I really really believe that she is up next, and
• 3:04
Speaker 4: I can't wait to see, you know, the things that
• 3:07
Speaker 4: she has that she's working on, and then also excited
• 3:11
Speaker 4: for people to hear the things that she has worked
• 3:13
Speaker 4: olds so they can go back and watch some.
• 3:15
Speaker 2: Of her work because I didn't know a lot of
• 3:17
Speaker 2: this stuff. I'm like, oh my gosh, like that was
• 3:19
  Speaker 2: you so.
• 3:22
Speaker 4: Mean proud, like wilding out right right, So I mean
• 3:27
Speaker 4: just impressive. So I think this is what this platform
• 3:31
Speaker 4: is for, for people to really see what can be done,
• 3:35
Speaker 4: and also just to highlight like people doing things that
• 3:40
Speaker 4: you might not even realize because I know that I didn't.
• 3:43
  Speaker 2: And so.
• 3:45
Speaker 4: Yeah, she was cool, Like Kylie was cool again. She
• 3:48
Speaker 4: feels like she feels like she's like been here before.
• 3:53
  Speaker 2: And it's crazy.
• 3:54
Speaker 1: Because leading up to that episode, she was texting me
• 3:58
Speaker 1: and she's like, oh my god, Mariah, I'm so nervous.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: We may need to have some liquor on set. And
• 4:03
Speaker 1: I was like, girl, my gosh, you we'll have some champagne,
• 4:05
Speaker 1: We'll have whatever you need to get comfortable. And so
• 4:09
Speaker 1: for viewers, this was our Tamerini's first time meeting Kylie
• 4:13
Speaker 1: in person, so our dads, my dad already knows Bentley
• 4:17
Speaker 1: very well, but this was my first time meeting her
• 4:20
Speaker 1: in person. So I was expecting Kylie to walk in
• 4:23
Speaker 1: and be very timid and shy and more like kept
• 4:28
Speaker 1: to herself, and she was the exact opposite. We got
• 4:32
Speaker 1: down on the couch, we sat down and we were like, girl,
• 4:35
Speaker 1: you did not need a droplet.
• 4:39
  Speaker 2: Of personality.
• 4:40
Speaker 3: But I think what it is as personable can be.
• 4:44
  Speaker 2: She's so personal.
• 4:44
Speaker 4: But I think what it is is we talked about
• 4:46
Speaker 4: it during your episode, is just.
• 4:49
Speaker 3: The vulnerability when you're talking about yourself and if you're
• 4:51
Speaker 3: not used to the platform and talking about yourself, maybe
• 4:55
Speaker 3: other topics that involve you, but not yourself. I think
• 5:00
Speaker 3: that can always be daunting.
• 5:01
Speaker 4: And I think when our guests come, we do our
• 5:04
Speaker 4: best to make sure they are.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: Put at ease and they are comfortable.
• 5:08
Speaker 4: And for us and Kylie, we got comfortable in point
• 5:11
Speaker 4: five seconds, and it was like it was like old friends.
• 5:15
Speaker 3: Talking yeah and laughing, and key king, which we love
• 5:18
  Speaker 3: to do.
• 5:19
  Speaker 2: So yeah.
• 5:20
Speaker 1: I told her she has forever sisters within us and
• 5:23
Speaker 1: absolutely absolutely to give us a call, and like we've
• 5:27
Speaker 1: shared a thousand times, we're so excited to watch.
• 5:31
Speaker 2: I'm like, Kylie, hey, whatever you got going on, call me.
• 5:35
Speaker 2: I want to be in the number.
• 5:37
Speaker 3: That part, whatever she's gonna do is gonna be cool,
• 5:40
  Speaker 3: Like you know.
• 5:40
Speaker 4: What I mean, She's just that kind of creative Yeah,
• 5:43
Speaker 4: and just a person who you want to be, you know,
• 5:45
Speaker 4: just be around and learn from.
• 5:47
Speaker 2: So she's cool. I'm excited. I was super excited to.
• 5:50
Speaker 3: Meet her, and then the impressions, honey, like I can't,
• 5:54
  Speaker 3: I can't.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: I think one one thing I took away from her
• 5:59
Speaker 1: and her episode is the importance of having fun.
• 6:04
Speaker 2: Even in small moments.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: Not everything has to feel so serious to be meaningful,
• 6:12
Speaker 1: enjoy life, chase after your dreams. I think that's one
• 6:16
Speaker 1: thing viewers will be able to learn from her and
• 6:19
Speaker 1: take away from her episode. She's again overall an incredible, kind, humble,
• 6:26
Speaker 1: genuine human being. So yeah, yeah, definitely learned that being
• 6:32
Speaker 1: the present part, like she was incredibly present, and then
• 6:36
Speaker 1: just how she connects with other.
• 6:39
Speaker 2: People and learning how she connects with other people.
• 6:41
Speaker 4: It was it inspired me because I find that, like
• 6:46
Speaker 4: you know, I, there are instances where I'm not as present,
• 6:50
Speaker 4: you know, in in things and work. And I think
• 6:54
Speaker 4: if we could just be still enough and just focus
• 6:57
Speaker 4: enough to be present, I think, you know, our life
• 7:00
Speaker 4: would incredibly improve. But it just takes work and takes practice,
• 7:04
Speaker 4: and takes also acknowledgment that you know, I am not present,
• 7:08
Speaker 4: I am not I am not like this, and so
• 7:11
Speaker 4: this is something I need to do. And I feel
• 7:12
Speaker 4: like with Kylie, she was just just a completely present person.
• 7:18
Speaker 4: And yeah, it was such a great interview. So I
• 7:23
Speaker 4: can't wait for you guys to hear and or see.
• 7:27
Speaker 2: All of the things.
• 7:29
Speaker 1: If I could describe her in one word, I think
• 7:32
Speaker 1: I would use multi dimensional.
• 7:37
Speaker 2: To that one word or two words? Does a hyphen count?
• 7:42
  Speaker 2: I don't know, so.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Dimensional, I feel like I can we look, we gonna
• 7:49
Speaker 1: make it one word today. If it's two words, sorry guys,
• 7:52
Speaker 1: but we're going to make it one word today. She
• 7:54
Speaker 1: is multi dimensional from again fashion, She's placeful, expressive, she's talented,
• 8:02
Speaker 1: she's kind, she just h The girl has it going on.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: And I feel like the whole time we were talking
• 8:09
Speaker 1: to her, I was in awe. I was like, wow, Kylie,
• 8:11
Speaker 1: you really are fascinating.
• 8:14
Speaker 4: Right And if you are all interested in the film business,
• 8:19
Speaker 4: and if you're you know, you're a woman.
• 8:20
  Speaker 2: This is a Woman's.
• 8:22
Speaker 3: History month if you're a woman and you are wanting
• 8:26
Speaker 3: to go into you know, the industry. She's a wonderful
• 8:30
Speaker 3: person to get to know and to follow because she
• 8:35
Speaker 3: as young as she is, has accomplished so much and
• 8:39
Speaker 3: you can learn a lot from her in a very
• 8:41
Speaker 3: short time. So that is a huge plug. You know
• 8:45
Speaker 3: that you get that for free, you know what I mean.
• 8:49
Speaker 4: Listen to her and you know, follow her in her
• 8:51
Speaker 4: career and just learn some stuff from her along the way.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: So I think you bring up a great point about networking.
• 9:00
Speaker 2: Her. You know her her.
• 9:02
Speaker 1: Social media handles will be public, So if you have questions,
• 9:07
Speaker 1: I do encourage people, if you are inspired to be
• 9:10
Speaker 1: in the creative space, shoot her message, ask questions. She's
• 9:15
Speaker 1: the type of person who wants to help and inspire
• 9:18
Speaker 1: and encourage any and everyone to chase their dreams.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: So serious inquiries only, of course.
• 9:28
Speaker 1: Disclaimer serious only only because Kylie will be listening to this,
• 9:35
Speaker 1: like girl, I did not tell y'all.
• 9:38
Speaker 2: She's like, why everybody to my DMS, that's not what
• 9:42
Speaker 2: I said. So if you get blocked, don't sorry. Sorry, sorry,
• 9:48
Speaker 2: that was not our goal.
• 9:51
Speaker 1: But yeah, I've I'm excited for Bentley, her father, to
• 9:58
  Speaker 1: watch this.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: I'm curious to know what he's going to say.
• 10:03
Speaker 4: Wait, did we even say who Kylie? Her connection to
• 10:07
Speaker 4: the show? Do we even do we say that at
• 10:09
  Speaker 4: the beginning?
• 10:10
Speaker 1: I don't know if we said it in the beginning,
• 10:12
Speaker 1: but we are assuming that if viewers are at this point,
• 10:15
Speaker 1: and if they're listening to this episode, they've already seen
• 10:19
Speaker 1: or heard Kylie's episode. But if you have not, and
• 10:23
Speaker 1: if you have bypassed the audio and the visual for
• 10:28
Speaker 1: Kylie Evans. Her father is Bentley Evans, who is a talented,
• 10:32
Speaker 1: talented writer and producer behind culturally defining shows like Martin
• 10:39
Speaker 1: and The Jamie Foxx Show.
• 10:41
Speaker 2: And Moisha Mosha. The list is long.
• 10:46
Speaker 3: The list is long, But let's I'm going to rewatch Mosha.
• 10:49
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Like I I'm sorry, I'm going to go back.
• 10:53
Speaker 2: I was thinking about that earlier.
• 10:54
Speaker 4: I was like, I just want to go back and
• 10:56
Speaker 4: watch a little bit of it, just because I remember
• 11:00
Speaker 4: like coming in and just watching the show and like
• 11:03
Speaker 4: I sometimes TV is just not what TV used to
• 11:07
Speaker 4: be and I just need that fix of that, like
• 11:10
  Speaker 4: that real sitcom.
• 11:12
Speaker 2: Yes, I need that sitcom fix. And no one does
• 11:16
Speaker 2: sitcoms like that era.
• 11:17
Speaker 4: I'm sorry, Like you know, we've got great shows out
• 11:20
Speaker 4: to that you know, of course we love those, but
• 11:22
Speaker 4: nothing is like those the sitcom area.
• 11:25
Speaker 2: That we we got to you know, be a part of,
• 11:29
Speaker 2: and just just it was like a fixture.
• 11:33
Speaker 4: We Kneway, our show came on and we're gonna come home,
• 11:36
Speaker 4: We're gonna watch it.
• 11:37
Speaker 2: I need so much. Oh my gosh, you knew you
• 11:40
Speaker 2: were going to get a good laugh.
• 11:42
Speaker 1: You knew that however you were feeling leading up to
• 11:46
Speaker 1: that moment of sitting down on the couch and turning
• 11:48
Speaker 1: it on, whether you were feeling.
• 11:51
Speaker 2: If you were having a bad day.
• 11:53
Speaker 1: Once you got in the couch and turned on one
• 11:54
Speaker 1: of those sitcoms, baby a good laugh in So.
• 11:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, and all that that, like those sitcoms did. Like
• 12:02
Speaker 4: I think about Shirley Ralph now how she's on Avid
• 12:06
Speaker 4: Elementary and like she was like the I mean, like yes,
• 12:11
Speaker 4: like this, we just loved her and then now she's
• 12:15
Speaker 4: just she's even bigger than she was. And I just
• 12:20
Speaker 4: know that that being a part of that era is
• 12:22
Speaker 4: a part of it because I mean, come on, that.
• 12:25
Speaker 3: Was hate it girl, so loving and light.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: Ugh, it's needed, like yes, you know, without going down
• 12:35
Speaker 1: this rabbit hole. But today's what March thirtieth, twenty twenty six,
• 12:40
Speaker 1: it's getting real in the world.
• 12:42
Speaker 5: And yeah, by that good TV, like a good show,
• 12:48
  Speaker 5: need a good laugh, right, They're really they're redoing a
• 12:51
Speaker 5: different world, which is like great, So bring.
• 12:54
Speaker 2: Back all these shows. Maybe we should ask her if
• 12:57
  Speaker 2: there's going to be a Martin Reyboot. I mean, I
• 13:00
Speaker 2: think it's worth the question. I think so, and I
• 13:02
Speaker 2: feel like she would give us the hands.
• 13:04
Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, if there was a Martiny Boot, I
• 13:06
Speaker 4: don't know what I would do it myself.
• 13:08
  Speaker 5: I don't.
• 13:08
Speaker 1: I mean, I know where I'm gonna be on beyond
• 13:10
Speaker 1: that house, I can tell you that much. With my
• 13:13
Speaker 1: tea and my cookies. And we're gonna have a show
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: on repeat.
• 13:17
Speaker 4: So your team, you know, repeat, You're not leave it
• 13:21
Speaker 4: how it is, leave it as it was.
• 13:25
Speaker 2: I think I'm either or I can be both.
• 13:28
Speaker 1: I wouldn't be mad at either, to be honest, right,
• 13:30
Speaker 1: because we have access to the originals.
• 13:33
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 13:34
Speaker 1: True, So I mean there's no need Like if if
• 13:38
Speaker 1: we didn't have access to the originals, and I would say,
• 13:40
Speaker 1: hell yeah, bring on the New.
• 13:41
Speaker 3: But right, because what if Kylie was like what if
• 13:45
  Speaker 3: she was.
• 13:45
Speaker 4: The showrunner for like the New, like we're making up
• 13:48
Speaker 4: all kinds of stuff.
• 13:49
Speaker 2: I would tears of joy if that was the case.
• 13:52
Speaker 2: I would be like, look at our little like our
• 13:54
Speaker 2: little sister out there. She's like the second generation, said
• 13:58
Speaker 2: the next generation, you know what I mean.
• 14:00
Speaker 4: Like, but she's the one to do it because she's
• 14:02
Speaker 4: got that spirit that sitcome, you know, expertise. She'll be
• 14:06
Speaker 4: the one to redo a show and like make it amazing.
• 14:11
Speaker 2: Let's call her and ask her should we should you
• 14:14
  Speaker 2: know what?
• 14:14
Speaker 1: That's what we need to do on these We need
• 14:16
Speaker 1: to just call our talent and just have them, have
• 14:20
Speaker 1: them say, hey, during this twenty minute segment.
• 14:22
Speaker 2: Hey guys, exactly. That would be fun. That would be fun.
• 14:26
Speaker 2: That would be fun.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: I mean, but you never know, this guy is a
• 14:29
Speaker 1: limit for her. So yeah, and she did mention on
• 14:32
Speaker 1: the show that she has a surprise announcement.
• 14:35
Speaker 2: She's working on something. I cannot wait. I think I yeah,
• 14:39
  Speaker 2: I'm with you. I can't wait. Wait.
• 14:41
Speaker 1: So look, I'm gonna be sad whenever rides to tell,
• 14:45
Speaker 1: whatever day she needs to tell, I'm gonna be sad.
• 14:47
Speaker 2: I'm gonna have my tea, I'm gonna be ready to go.
• 14:49
Speaker 1: My ears will be perked, like yes, tell me all
• 14:52
  Speaker 1: the good news.
• 14:54
Speaker 2: So exactly you know, more good TV is coming? That's weird.
• 14:58
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, more good TV. It's coming. Yeah.
