- 0:35SPEAKER_05: What?
- 0:37SPEAKER_05: Dude.
- 0:40SPEAKER_08: We're reaching now.
- 0:44SPEAKER_10: I had a bad day at work today.
- 0:46SPEAKER_10: Um and you're dying, apparently.
- 0:51SPEAKER_07: I gotta stop putting vodka in my drink.
- 0:55SPEAKER_10: Just kidding.
- 0:56SPEAKER_10: I'm not putting vodka.
- 0:57SPEAKER_10: Kind of a yeah, kind of a rotten end of the day at work, and um, I'm just trying to stay in a good mood, that's what I'm doing.
- 1:02SPEAKER_10: Higher dime, mate.
- 1:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:04SPEAKER_10: Uh it is episode 306.
- 1:07SPEAKER_10: Um 306.
- 1:09SPEAKER_10: 306.
- 1:10SPEAKER_10: Uh, welcome to the O'Brien and Doug podcast.
- 1:12SPEAKER_10: I'm O'Brien.
- 1:12SPEAKER_10: I'm Doug! And um we got a little bit of a little bit of things.
- 1:17SPEAKER_10: We got a little bit, I got good grammar.
- 1:19SPEAKER_10: We have a little bit of things to talk about.
- 1:22SPEAKER_10: Uh a few things to talk about today, not the least of which syndicate is over for the season.
- 1:29SPEAKER_10: Done! Done.
- 1:30SPEAKER_10: Dunzo! Dunzo, I, you know, I'm I I I'm making an effort to um usually what I end up doing, and not on purpose, is after the syndicate finishes the season, I kind of put the electric guitar away.
- 1:43SPEAKER_10: You know, just you know, I don't play anymore.
- 1:47SPEAKER_10: And it shows when we get back together.
- 1:49SPEAKER_10: So I'm I'm trying What is this?
- 1:51SPEAKER_10: I'm trying yeah, right.
- 1:52SPEAKER_10: I'm trying to make this a concerted effort to uh keep playing.
- 1:57SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay.
- 1:58SPEAKER_10: You know, so I'm gonna keep all that stuff out uh in like a little setup so I can just uh come down and fiddle around when I have an opportunity five minutes.
- 2:07SPEAKER_07: Well our captain's giving us like three weeks off before we start practicing.
- 2:11SPEAKER_10: So it ends up being that that's the only time I play is when we practice.
- 2:15SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 2:16SPEAKER_10: Or I should say the uh if I cram the night before.
- 2:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 2:20SPEAKER_10: Sometimes.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:21SPEAKER_10: Um but usually it's I show up and what key is this in?
- 2:25SPEAKER_10: E flat.
- 2:27SPEAKER_10: I do that to g uh gigs for crying out loud.
- 2:29SPEAKER_10: And John Simonov, I know he laughs it off, but he's annoyed.
- 2:34SPEAKER_10: Yes, Brian, it's an E flat.
- 2:36SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 2:38SPEAKER_07: So but so I I wanna I I think he he he enjoys it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_10: Uh well, I don't know about that.
- 2:43SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna say I'm gonna um Well, I mean he probably he's probably like why didn't you learn the keys?
- 2:50SPEAKER_07: But you know.
- 2:51SPEAKER_07: Well, you know, I have I have there's there's songs But we don't you don't think in keys.
- 2:55SPEAKER_07: I don't think in keys of songs.
- 2:57SPEAKER_07: Well I I we just we just play 'em.
- 3:00SPEAKER_10: I do think in keys, but there are so many that are uh we play we play them in different keys.
- 3:07SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 3:07SPEAKER_10: So for example, like um uh heard it through the grapevine, right?
- 3:12SPEAKER_10: Which we did this weekend, is in originally C minor, I think.
- 3:19SPEAKER_10: And we brought it to A minor.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 3:22SPEAKER_10: So I had C minor, uh the chords for C minor in my little little iPad.
- 3:28SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_10: Um and but I remembered that we changed it to A minor.
- 3:31SPEAKER_10: So I said, I I I what key are we doing this in?
- 3:33SPEAKER_10: A minor.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 3:34SPEAKER_10: You know, and it's like, oh yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_10: So it's little things like that.
- 3:37SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 3:38SPEAKER_10: Um so but anyway, I know it it kind of annoys him, so I'm gonna try and do right by John Simonov.
- 3:43SPEAKER_07: You should you should freak him out next year and just be like, have them all down.
- 3:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, don't ask him a question.
- 3:47SPEAKER_10: Don't ask him any questions.
- 3:48SPEAKER_07: Don't ask him any questions.
- 3:49SPEAKER_07: He'd be like, What's wrong with Brandon?
- 3:50unknown: Yeah, right.
- 3:51SPEAKER_07: Why doesn't he ask me any questions?
- 3:52SPEAKER_07: That would require putting time into well you should maybe maybe every time next year you ask him, you'd be like, what keys it's in?
- 4:01SPEAKER_07: You flat?
- 4:02SPEAKER_07: Take out a little notebook and write down.
- 4:04SPEAKER_07: Put it back in your pocket.
- 4:09SPEAKER_07: He would laugh.
- 4:10SPEAKER_10: John, I forgot my notebook today.
- 4:11SPEAKER_10: What keys is it in?
- 4:12SPEAKER_10: What keys is it in?
- 4:12SPEAKER_06: I got so much.
- 4:14SPEAKER_10: I did get him a little bit uh at our Mars Hill gig when we played uh Love Shack right back to back with uh Hooked on a Feeling.
- 4:22SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 4:22SPEAKER_10: His two least favorite songs that we play.
- 4:24SPEAKER_10: Correct.
- 4:24SPEAKER_10: And I announced to the crowd that these are John's favorite songs.
- 4:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah, which is like yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_07: He laughed, but you know, inside he's like, You suck.
- 4:33SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_10: So anyway, but so we we did a um a show Thursday night uh for the um Model T Association of of America.
- 4:45SPEAKER_10: Maine?
- 4:45SPEAKER_10: Of Maine?
- 4:46SPEAKER_10: America.
- 4:46SPEAKER_10: Somebody uh somebody.
- 4:47SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 4:48SPEAKER_10: They brought all these Model T's up and we closed down.
- 4:50SPEAKER_10: Which were pretty cool.
- 4:50SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it was pretty cool.
- 4:51SPEAKER_10: That was neat.
- 4:52SPEAKER_10: Um and and so we played for that and that went very well, I think.
- 4:57SPEAKER_10: Um I think it went well.
- 4:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think I mean the weather cooperated, it was a little chilly, but yep, it was still good.
- 5:03SPEAKER_10: Uh and then Saturday we played Mars Hill Homecoming.
- 5:06SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 5:07SPEAKER_10: And I think it from from all accounts, we had the biggest crowd of anything that they had to do.
- 5:11SPEAKER_07: That's what uh that's what uh the uh rec director.
- 5:16SPEAKER_07: Murph.
- 5:16SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Murph said.
- 5:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 5:18SPEAKER_07: Because I was asking, I was like, he's like, yeah, this is the biggest crowd we've seen all weekend.
- 5:21SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 5:22SPEAKER_07: Anything.
- 5:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 5:23SPEAKER_07: Because Train Wreck played the night before us.
- 5:25SPEAKER_07: And the train wreck is a great band.
- 5:27SPEAKER_07: And they are a very great band, but apparently only their parents and like a few other people and Pat were there.
- 5:34SPEAKER_10: I know, you know, and I'm just like, I know Heath played too.
- 5:37SPEAKER_10: I'm not sure how many people showed up for Heath, I think.
- 5:40SPEAKER_07: Hard to say, yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_07: But he was set he was set up right where we were.
- 5:43SPEAKER_10: Oh, he was out in that.
- 5:44SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 5:46SPEAKER_10: Um, so anyway, that that went pretty well.
- 5:48SPEAKER_10: That was the one where I was the lone guitar player, and I was a little stressed.
- 5:51SPEAKER_10: That was so weird.
- 5:51SPEAKER_10: I was stressed.
- 5:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_10: Because Joel Joel had uh Joel Cater is apparently the home opener at U Maine.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:58SPEAKER_10: Uh so he was he was cooking for uh for for UMaine, and uh Mark had a tragedy in the family, so he wasn't able to make it either.
- 6:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so it was me, the sole guitar player, and I think I mean I think it went okay.
- 6:10SPEAKER_10: It went good.
- 6:11SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I was a little stressed, but but I mean it's understandable, but you know, it was you did well.
- 6:15SPEAKER_07: I think it was okay.
- 6:16SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 6:17SPEAKER_07: Um had so much room.
- 6:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah, right.
- 6:20SPEAKER_07: I was like, I could have ran a marathon on this.
- 6:22SPEAKER_07: The stage was like empty.
- 6:23SPEAKER_07: I was like, but it is like you're so far away.
- 6:27SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 6:27SPEAKER_07: She was really far away.
- 6:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 6:31SPEAKER_10: Um and I did I did notice too.
- 6:34SPEAKER_10: I don't know if you saw me do this, but um when we played Mapleton back at the end of June, I saw uh a a couple that I uh gradu well, no, I didn't graduate.
- 6:46SPEAKER_10: He graduated a year before me, I think.
- 6:47SPEAKER_10: I graduated with his sister.
- 6:49SPEAKER_10: Um and his his wife, um holy cow, Scott and Penny, anyway.
- 6:58SPEAKER_10: Um they came to see us in Mapleton.
- 7:00SPEAKER_10: It was the first time seeing us.
- 7:01SPEAKER_10: Oh and I saw them in the crowd.
- 7:02SPEAKER_10: I remember seeing them in the crowd, and I was like, yeah, that's kind of cool.
- 7:05SPEAKER_10: Scott and Penny are here.
- 7:06SPEAKER_10: And then fast forward to later this summer.
- 7:08SPEAKER_10: They went to Holton and saw us.
- 7:12SPEAKER_10: Sat right down.
- 7:13SPEAKER_10: Did you see them?
- 7:14SPEAKER_10: I saw them.
- 7:14SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay.
- 7:14SPEAKER_10: I didn't talk to them, but I saw them, I'm like, wow, Scott and Penny are here in Holton.
- 7:20SPEAKER_10: They drove down to see the show.
- 7:22SPEAKER_10: I was like, okay.
- 7:23SPEAKER_10: Uh they were there Thursday night uh on Main Street and I saw them, didn't say anything to them.
- 7:31SPEAKER_10: So Mars Hill, I saw them, right?
- 7:34SPEAKER_10: They came to Mars Hill show two days later, and I I saw them, yeah.
- 7:39SPEAKER_10: I peek I peeked through the stage and I saw them sitting there, and I so I went up and talked to them.
- 7:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 7:43SPEAKER_10: I'm like, what are you doing?
- 7:46SPEAKER_10: I said, I said, I have seen you at like four and Penny was like, We are brand new biggest fans.
- 7:56SPEAKER_10: She says, We saw you at Mapleton, and now after that, it was like, okay, when is the Star City Syndicate playing?
- 8:03SPEAKER_10: When are they playing?
- 8:03SPEAKER_10: Where we have to go.
- 8:05SPEAKER_10: So, and they've been following us, and it's like, We're your new groupies.
- 8:08SPEAKER_10: I'm like, I don't think that means what you think it means, but you might want to be a German, right?
- 8:13SPEAKER_10: But uh it was really, really cool, and because you know, uh they're our age, right?
- 8:19SPEAKER_10: And most of our audience is not.
- 8:22SPEAKER_10: Correct.
- 8:23SPEAKER_10: Is a lot older.
- 8:24SPEAKER_10: Yes, and uh so but it was it was cool to have kind of um you know confirmation that we're we're doing something pretty cool.
- 8:31SPEAKER_07: Yeah, apparently.
- 8:31SPEAKER_07: I mean, you know, they're they're people are starting to follow us, they're grateful dead, right?
- 8:36SPEAKER_07: You know, so that's good, man.
- 8:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I thought that I thought it was pretty cool.
- 8:39SPEAKER_10: And then of course uh we ended um in in my opinion, I know Chris is gonna listen to this too, but in my opinion, um for me, for me, not for anybody else in the band, for me, it was one of the worst shows I played all summer.
- 8:53SPEAKER_07: Really?
- 8:54SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 8:54SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 8:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah, and he and he and here's the reason why.
- 8:58SPEAKER_10: Because um, well, and again, this just comes from me.
- 9:01SPEAKER_10: This is not not to to to trash on anybody else, but um I found out I think it was that the night before or the morning of I don't remember.
- 9:15SPEAKER_10: Uh Chris had made the set list and then he's he put on the set list.
- 9:19SPEAKER_10: We're gonna put you should come see us uh uh at our clo our season clo you know season finale uh show in Easton.
- 9:27SPEAKER_10: We're gonna play all kinds of songs that we haven't played all summer.
- 9:30SPEAKER_10: And in my head I'm like, what?
- 9:35SPEAKER_10: So I looked at the set list and I'm like, oh crap, how does that go again?
- 9:39SPEAKER_10: And I didn't have time.
- 9:41SPEAKER_10: I went right from I went from church uh to I down here, packed up my car, and just kind of looked over the set list, like, oh, how's that go again?
- 9:51SPEAKER_10: How's that go again?
- 9:52SPEAKER_10: How's that go again?
- 9:53SPEAKER_10: And so I might was I was a bundle of nerves, honestly.
- 9:56SPEAKER_10: I was.
- 9:56SPEAKER_10: And then we show up and we do the do the gig.
- 9:59SPEAKER_10: I don't remember who screwed up first.
- 10:01SPEAKER_10: Uh our first two or three songs were just okay, just ho hum.
- 10:07SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 10:08SPEAKER_10: It just kind of uh was the crowd, and of course the crowd didn't help.
- 10:11SPEAKER_10: I mean the crowd was great that they were there, but they were like the washburn crowd.
- 10:15SPEAKER_07: They're not they're another listening crowd.
- 10:16SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they're yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:18SPEAKER_10: And so, which was fine.
- 10:19SPEAKER_10: It's you know, I just we just have to get used to that.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_10: Um, but when you don't get that of course they clapped.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:26SPEAKER_10: But when you don't get like that immediate reaction, you think you're doing something wrong.
- 10:29SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 10:30SPEAKER_10: Or whatever.
- 10:30SPEAKER_10: So the first two or three songs were just not dead, but not what they should have been.
- 10:37SPEAKER_07: But then again, that was our third show in the case.
- 10:40SPEAKER_07: So we we were a little low energy.
- 10:42SPEAKER_07: No question.
- 10:43SPEAKER_07: So I mean, it's not it's not entirely any it's not anybody's fault.
- 10:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, no, no, and I'm not saying it is, no.
- 10:48SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 10:49SPEAKER_10: But then uh um Anthony uh needed the note for one of the songs, so I gave him gave him the note for one of the songs, which was right, but then he lost it.
- 10:59SPEAKER_10: Yeah, he lost, yeah.
- 11:00SPEAKER_10: And he he had to oh wait, wait, wait, wait, let's start over.
- 11:02SPEAKER_10: Let's start.
- 11:02SPEAKER_10: I gotta get the right note.
- 11:03SPEAKER_10: So everybody was just very, or I don't know if everybody, I'll speak for myself.
- 11:07SPEAKER_10: I was just like, that's just that was weird.
- 11:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 11:11SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 11:12SPEAKER_10: And then I start a song in the wrong key.
- 11:15SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 11:16SPEAKER_10: And then one by one, we all just had our little mistakes, one right after another.
- 11:21SPEAKER_07: And well, I was about to say, with Anthony, then you, then then Joel.
- 11:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_07: I think that was it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_10: Was that it?
- 11:31SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 11:32SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 11:33SPEAKER_10: But what I'm saying is I was waiting for the next thing, next shoe to drop.
- 11:36SPEAKER_07: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 11:37SPEAKER_10: You know, yeah.
- 11:38SPEAKER_10: So that whole that whole first set, or actually it wasn't first set, it was a whole thing.
- 11:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah, the whole thing.
- 11:41SPEAKER_10: We didn't take a break.
- 11:42SPEAKER_10: We didn't take a break, so um I was just waiting for the shoe to drop, you know, the next shoe and and and it didn't, thankfully.
- 11:49SPEAKER_10: I think we got through it.
- 11:50SPEAKER_10: We and we were having electrical problems at the beginning, too.
- 11:53SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, we well, but we always have electrical problems in there for some reason because it's it's uh it's old and but I was I left there going.
- 11:59SPEAKER_10: I mean, we made it through and we were low energy, we screwed up a bunch of stuff.
- 12:04SPEAKER_10: It doesn't matter in the in Well, we know we screwed up.
- 12:08SPEAKER_10: Yeah, true.
- 12:09SPEAKER_10: Uh everybody there they all they said was it would sounded great.
- 12:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah, you know, and as long as they're happy, then we did our job.
- 12:15SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 12:15SPEAKER_10: You know, yeah.
- 12:16SPEAKER_07: Tell that to my stupid brain.
- 12:20SPEAKER_07: You know, we we we take it more personal because it's that this is our baby.
- 12:24SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 12:25SPEAKER_07: But uh, you know, as long as we keep it in perspective, you know.
- 12:29SPEAKER_07: It's just I do it's like, you know, you know, well, yeah, we know we screwed up.
- 12:33SPEAKER_07: You know, maybe they pick up on it, maybe they don't.
- 12:36SPEAKER_10: I thought our Mars Hill gig was awesome.
- 12:39SPEAKER_10: I thought it went well.
- 12:40SPEAKER_10: I thought we sounded good, I thought we played well, I thought we had a lot of banter with the audience.
- 12:44SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 12:45SPEAKER_10: Um, and then we ended up Well, we don't play Marisol very often.
- 12:48SPEAKER_10: No, we don't.
- 12:49SPEAKER_07: That's the first time in a long time we played Marisol.
- 12:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 12:52SPEAKER_10: Um, and then to go from that to the Eastern one where we were just screwing up right and I was screwing up right and left.
- 12:58SPEAKER_07: But a lot of them those songs, like like Chris said, there were songs we hadn't done in a long time.
- 13:02SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 13:03SPEAKER_10: So, note to self, don't do that again.
- 13:06SPEAKER_07: Well, it's just, you know, we gotta practice all the songs.
- 13:10SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 13:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 13:11SPEAKER_07: All of them.
- 13:12SPEAKER_07: All of them.
- 13:12SPEAKER_07: All the time.
- 13:13SPEAKER_07: All the stuff.
- 13:14SPEAKER_07: All the stuff.
- 13:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 13:16SPEAKER_07: All the stuff all the time.
- 13:18SPEAKER_10: So, um, so that was, I mean, uh so now we uh we take what three weeks off and then we re start rehearsing again?
- 13:25SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 13:25SPEAKER_10: We go back to the wood woodshed as they say.
- 13:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah, back in the woodshed.
- 13:29SPEAKER_10: And um we learn some new songs.
- 13:32SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 13:33SPEAKER_10: Hopefully, hopefully some of those new songs stick because I have a feeling so some of the songs that we have practiced in the past maybe two years, uh, we've played out maybe once and then just not played again.
- 13:44SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 13:45SPEAKER_10: It's because I we've either tried them and weren't um confident with them.
- 13:53SPEAKER_10: Um and like for example, um and there's a there's kind of some reasons why we haven't done this, but I think we could probably have could have done that Paul Simon song.
- 14:05SPEAKER_10: Um You Can Call Me Hal.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:07SPEAKER_10: Um I think we put it.
- 14:08SPEAKER_10: I was gonna say we practiced it before the season.
- 14:10SPEAKER_10: We did, yeah.
- 14:10SPEAKER_10: And and I I think we could have made it through.
- 14:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:13SPEAKER_10: So I don't know why that was never put on the set list.
- 14:16SPEAKER_10: We did pick up the pieces.
- 14:17SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we've never played that.
- 14:18SPEAKER_10: We've never played that.
- 14:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:20SPEAKER_10: You know, and I I don't know why.
- 14:21SPEAKER_10: Uh maybe it's just confidence.
- 14:23SPEAKER_07: Nah, maybe.
- 14:24SPEAKER_10: Um, I don't know.
- 14:25SPEAKER_10: So we have some new songs that we're tossing around and and we'll see what's going on.
- 14:29SPEAKER_07: Well, maybe they'll go on the set list for next season.
- 14:32SPEAKER_07: Yeah, maybe.
- 14:33SPEAKER_07: Maybe.
- 14:33SPEAKER_07: I don't know if we'll do some school shows this fall or spring.
- 14:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:38SPEAKER_10: I'd love to do some you know what?
- 14:39SPEAKER_10: I'd love to play press gala again.
- 14:41SPEAKER_10: Uh we haven't played press gala in a while.
- 14:44SPEAKER_10: You don't want to do press galais.
- 14:45SPEAKER_07: It's not that I don't want to do it.
- 14:48SPEAKER_07: It's just that we d we're always in press galais, it feels like.
- 14:53SPEAKER_10: Really?
- 14:53SPEAKER_10: Oh, you mean you mean in general?
- 14:56SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:56SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:57SPEAKER_07: I like playing the smaller schools because they don't get that.
- 15:01SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:02SPEAKER_07: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:03SPEAKER_07: Yep, no, I do.
- 15:04SPEAKER_07: I do.
- 15:05SPEAKER_10: So, well, let's think about it.
- 15:07SPEAKER_07: So I mean, I'd like to, you know, we haven't played Fort Fairfield since literally two weeks or like a month before COVID hit.
- 15:15SPEAKER_07: Has it been that long?
- 15:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:17SPEAKER_11: Really?
- 15:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 15:18SPEAKER_07: 2020.
- 15:19SPEAKER_07: It was the last time we played Fort.
- 15:21SPEAKER_07: You know, I'd like to go back there.
- 15:23SPEAKER_10: Uh we just did the Valley.
- 15:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we were in well, we did Madawaska and uh Synagat.
- 15:29SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 15:29SPEAKER_07: So, I mean, you know, Valley's taken care of for a while.
- 15:32SPEAKER_07: For a little while.
- 15:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I'd like to go back to Limestone.
- 15:35SPEAKER_07: It's been a couple years since we've been there.
- 15:37SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 15:38SPEAKER_07: Um it's been a while since well, I mean We've been there twice though.
- 15:41SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 15:42SPEAKER_10: We've been to Limestone twice.
- 15:43SPEAKER_10: Correct.
- 15:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 15:44SPEAKER_07: Uh because we did caribou and limestone that same day.
- 15:48SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 15:48SPEAKER_10: Remember.
- 15:49SPEAKER_10: Um we've we've done we did southern roustic, right?
- 15:54SPEAKER_10: Did we set that do so?
- 15:55SPEAKER_10: That was a while ago, yeah.
- 15:56SPEAKER_10: We did Holton.
- 15:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 15:58SPEAKER_10: Um we ha have we done Central Aroustic?
- 16:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_10: We did Fort Street, yeah.
- 16:03SPEAKER_10: How long ago was that?
- 16:04SPEAKER_07: No, we did the well, we did the whole, we did the high school, but they brought they bust the kids over from Fort Street.
- 16:10SPEAKER_07: Remember Heath sat in one of those from the rip the soul.
- 16:13SPEAKER_07: That long ago.
- 16:13SPEAKER_07: That was that was a couple years ago.
- 16:14SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_10: Um Yeah.
- 16:17SPEAKER_07: Where what other schools could we play?
- 16:19SPEAKER_07: I mean Well, I mean, I'd like to play Ashland because it's the Larry Hall Memorial.
- 16:25SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 16:26SPEAKER_07: You know, but you know.
- 16:29SPEAKER_07: That's kind of skinny Ella's territory.
- 16:31SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's true.
- 16:32SPEAKER_10: So we do play there quite a bit.
- 16:33SPEAKER_07: But I mean, you know, you know what I'm saying?
- 16:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 16:35SPEAKER_07: Every time we I mean, um we go to these other schools and we play, and it's like, all the kids are like, yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_07: And then we go to Prescott and they're like, eh.
- 16:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 16:43SPEAKER_10: Well, it might be different this year.
- 16:44SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 16:45SPEAKER_10: Because if we played up at Skyway, it's grades two through six.
- 16:49SPEAKER_10: Oh, see, that's a good age, right?
- 16:50SPEAKER_10: That wouldn't that would be good.
- 16:51SPEAKER_10: That would actually be good.
- 16:53SPEAKER_10: And you know, the fifth grade band, you know, band starts at fifth grade.
- 16:56SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 16:56SPEAKER_10: So um you could even I don't know how many kids, I don't know how how many kids are actually in the school now.
- 17:02SPEAKER_10: I don't know how many you could fit in the auditorium, but if you brought bust Mapleton over, have at least fifth grade.
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:10SPEAKER_10: And and um, because our whole message when we go play these schools is music education.
- 17:15SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 17:15SPEAKER_10: You know, and and and play in the band and stuff like that.
- 17:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 17:18SPEAKER_10: Um, so if you bust like the fifth grade from Mapleton over and just joined in with uh two through six at Skyway, that could be fun.
- 17:28SPEAKER_07: Okay, that would be fun.
- 17:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 17:29SPEAKER_10: That's what I'm talking about.
- 17:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:30SPEAKER_07: I'm not talking about high school and yeah, high school and that's kind of they're they're always like, yeah, you guys mean whatever.
- 17:36SPEAKER_11: Yeah, no.
- 17:37SPEAKER_07: Whatever.
- 17:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 17:37SPEAKER_07: And I'm always like, uh, I gotta kick you in your little Taylor Swift face.
- 17:42SPEAKER_07: Hey, that was me today.
- 17:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, see?
- 17:45SPEAKER_07: You know what I'm saying?
- 17:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I do.
- 17:46SPEAKER_10: So I do.
- 17:48SPEAKER_10: Um, so yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_10: So anyway, Syndicate is um is um uh hibernating for uh for the winter.
- 17:56SPEAKER_07: Um we're gonna be like bears, we're gonna go, we're gonna get super fat, and we're gonna go into Then we did that last year.
- 18:02SPEAKER_07: Oh, we do that every year.
- 18:03SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 18:04SPEAKER_07: And then we and then we crawl into our little den.
- 18:07SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 18:07SPEAKER_07: And we go to sleep all winter.
- 18:11SPEAKER_10: Uh um you and I though, you and I have a couple gigs coming up.
- 18:16SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 18:16SPEAKER_10: Um so we're playing Holton this Friday.
- 18:19SPEAKER_10: This uh podcast is airing on Thursday, and it'll be the next day.
- 18:22SPEAKER_10: So we're playing uh Holton on the what is it, 19th?
- 18:26SPEAKER_10: 18th.
- 18:26SPEAKER_10: 18th.
- 18:27SPEAKER_10: The 18th?
- 18:27SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 18:28SPEAKER_10: Uh we haven't played there um since the spring, I don't think.
- 18:31SPEAKER_07: Uh was it?
- 18:32SPEAKER_07: Or was it June?
- 18:33SPEAKER_07: It was June.
- 18:34SPEAKER_07: June, maybe?
- 18:35SPEAKER_10: No, I think it was like May.
- 18:36SPEAKER_10: It was like May.
- 18:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah, something like that.
- 18:38SPEAKER_10: Uh and we like playing down there.
- 18:39SPEAKER_10: I I enjoy it now.
- 18:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it's I mean it used to be a struggle, but I think we're getting a little bit more than that.
- 18:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah, even we only we only play there two or three times a year.
- 18:48SPEAKER_10: Um but I enjoy seeing the looks on people's faces, trying to win win them over.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:55SPEAKER_10: You know?
- 18:56SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_10: Um, and it's it's fun to do that, to try and win them over.
- 19:00SPEAKER_10: Like, oh, these guys are pretty good.
- 19:02SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 19:02SPEAKER_10: You know you could you could tell.
- 19:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you know, when they're singing along or when they're bouncing, you know, bouncing their knees and blah blah, you know.
- 19:07SPEAKER_07: The ones I always like I like to watch are the ones that just stare at you.
- 19:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 19:11SPEAKER_07: They're just like I'm like, what?
- 19:16SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 19:17SPEAKER_07: It's called a song there, doofus.
- 19:21SPEAKER_07: So I don't know, I don't know if they're just like zoning out or what, but they just stare at them like, this is really uncomfortable.
- 19:27SPEAKER_07: I need an adult.
- 19:30SPEAKER_10: Um, so we're down in Holton Friday, and then Saturday was gonna be a uh well, I mean, it's still gonna be fun.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:39SPEAKER_10: But it was gonna be, we're planning on um well, here's the story.
- 19:43SPEAKER_10: I think we've told this before already, but we used to play up at Dean's Motor Lodge uh in Portage, and the the crowd that used to come see us all the time, uh, one of the members of that crowd reached out and said, Oh, maybe we shouldn't say that no, it's they don't listen to the podcast.
- 19:57SPEAKER_10: No, I've um said, My wife's uh celebrating a birthday, which essentially was last week.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: Yes, yeah.
- 20:02SPEAKER_10: Um, and we were wondering if you guys would get back together and and play a show for us at uh up in Fort Kent.
- 20:10SPEAKER_10: And so we put it out to Shane, and he's like, Yeah, that'd be great.
- 20:13SPEAKER_10: And then so Shane started practicing, and we didn't practice, of course, which we you know, we never and uh so Shane was all set to come up and uh we were gonna have this m mini kind of reunion, Common Crossing reunion, uh, and play for some members of our old crowd.
- 20:32SPEAKER_10: Uh and we still are, but Shane's not gonna make it.
- 20:35SPEAKER_10: Yeah, which which sucks.
- 20:37SPEAKER_10: Shane's having some car issues, so it's just gonna be Doug and I.
- 20:40SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 20:40SPEAKER_10: Which, you know, it'll be fine.
- 20:42SPEAKER_07: But on the plus side, it's a place we've never played before.
- 20:46SPEAKER_10: That's true.
- 20:46SPEAKER_10: So maybe we could win some people over.
- 20:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 20:49SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 20:50SPEAKER_10: Um, it will be the old crowd, but I'm sure there will be some other people.
- 20:53SPEAKER_07: Well, there's gonna be people downstairs, right?
- 20:55SPEAKER_10: I've never been there, so you can can they hear us upstairs?
- 20:58SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah, you can hear.
- 20:59SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:59SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 21:00SPEAKER_07: There's a big, I mean, it's a big open spot.
- 21:02SPEAKER_07: It's not it's not a very big place.
- 21:04SPEAKER_07: So do we there's a big sound uh staircase going down.
- 21:08SPEAKER_10: Do we need the extra speakers or I think our tower would be fine?
- 21:11SPEAKER_07: The tower will be fine.
- 21:12SPEAKER_10: Okay, yeah.
- 21:13SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 21:14SPEAKER_10: Um, so yeah, that's going on Saturday.
- 21:16SPEAKER_10: Um, so that's kind of exciting.
- 21:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:19SPEAKER_10: Um, it'll be just I you know what I'm saying?
- 21:22SPEAKER_10: I think that set list that we made for Comic Crossing, we just play that too.
- 21:25SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:26SPEAKER_10: We start with start with that and then add some stuff that you can do.
- 21:28SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we do stuff we we usually do.
- 21:29SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:30SPEAKER_10: I should probably look at that set list, shouldn't I?
- 21:33SPEAKER_08: We should maybe see we should we should we should uh peruse it to see if see if I can remember uh which songs they are and what's you know how how I don't remember doing that song.
- 21:44SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 21:44SPEAKER_10: How how they go.
- 21:50SPEAKER_10: Well it's in the thread anyway.
- 21:52SPEAKER_10: It is oh there it is right there.
- 21:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:53SPEAKER_10: Uh so we had uh thirty songs.
- 21:58SPEAKER_10: Thirty s oh yeah.
- 21:59SPEAKER_10: Well we can't do the The the hip hop stuff with level one you would.
- 22:02SPEAKER_10: Or maybe we could.
- 22:02SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 22:06SPEAKER_10: We can't do play the funky music down tonight in funky town.
- 22:08SPEAKER_07: No.
- 22:09SPEAKER_10: Probably not acoustically.
- 22:11SPEAKER_10: Um that might be it.
- 22:13SPEAKER_10: I mean the rest of them Well, some kind of wonderful.
- 22:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so we'll take a look at it.
- 22:20SPEAKER_10: We can't do Scotsman, we can't do uh Rattling Bog.
- 22:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 22:24SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so I'm gonna change it the way it is right now.
- 22:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we'll pick and choose.
- 22:29SPEAKER_07: We'll pick and choose, yeah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_10: Uh but yeah, so that's coming up and is kind of exciting.
- 22:34SPEAKER_07: So I'm j I mean, I'm you know, I'm just you know like I said, it's a new place.
- 22:39SPEAKER_07: We've never played there before.
- 22:40SPEAKER_07: It's gonna be I'm looking forward to that.
- 22:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah, yeah, me too.
- 22:44SPEAKER_10: Um okay, the one thing I wanted to show you, uh there's not a whole lot of news in Ultimate Classic Rock.
- 22:51SPEAKER_10: Or any other classic rock.
- 22:53SPEAKER_10: Just like people extending their tours and things like that, and I don't want to really I don't really want to get into that.
- 22:59SPEAKER_10: Uh one thing I did want to do is I have pre-saved on Spotify, I can't believe I'm saying that, um, the new Europe album, which is called Come This Madness.
- 23:10SPEAKER_10: And we have previewed one song, and we liked it.
- 23:13SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it was it was pretty cool.
- 23:15SPEAKER_10: Uh I have heard two other songs, maybe three, uh, that they have um kind of released.
- 23:25SPEAKER_10: And I wanted to um play them for you, or at least preview them, because I think you're going to dig it.
- 23:35SPEAKER_10: Um, they have been putting out music right along.
- 23:41SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 23:41SPEAKER_07: Uh they're kind of like Deaf Leopard, though.
- 23:43SPEAKER_10: Uh but I mean you don't hear about them.
- 23:46SPEAKER_10: Rock radio doesn't play them.
- 23:48SPEAKER_10: Um but they've been putting out albums all through the 90s, all through the early 2000s.
- 23:54SPEAKER_10: Um, so I so which one we heard one-on-one?
- 24:02SPEAKER_10: Is that what it was?
- 24:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we heard one on one.
- 24:04SPEAKER_07: There's the really dark video.
- 24:08SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 24:09SPEAKER_11: This one.
- 24:12SPEAKER_07: Is that the one?
- 24:14SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I think so.
- 24:30SPEAKER_07: I know, right.
- 24:38SPEAKER_10: Just kidding.
- 24:42SPEAKER_10: Sound familiar?
- 24:49SPEAKER_08: Possibly?
- 24:50SPEAKER_08: It's it's been a while since we heard that song.
- 24:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_08: I'm pretty sure this was the first thing.
- 25:29SPEAKER_10: All right.
- 25:30SPEAKER_10: Spotify.
- 25:33SPEAKER_10: Okay, so let me just go to the next one that that is on the list that is available.
- 25:40SPEAKER_10: This one is called the I I see, I I really like this one called Scandinavian Eyes.
- 25:44SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 25:44SPEAKER_10: So I'm gonna save that for last.
- 25:46SPEAKER_10: But this one is called the Cult of Ignorance.
- 25:54SPEAKER_10: They did say they were going back to their 80s uh very progressive.
- 26:10SPEAKER_07: It's kind of like anybody balm stream song without the uh arrogance.
- 26:54SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_10: All right.
- 26:55SPEAKER_10: So one more.
- 26:56SPEAKER_10: Um, this one I really like.
- 26:58SPEAKER_10: This is called Scandinavian Eyes.
- 27:01SPEAKER_10: It's got one of those long string intros.
- 27:04SPEAKER_10: Oh, sure.
- 27:04SPEAKER_10: Uh this comes out next week, by the way.
- 27:08SPEAKER_10: September 25th.
- 27:09SPEAKER_07: Okay, I was gonna ask you what that's the name of the album again?
- 27:10SPEAKER_10: Come this Madness.
- 27:11SPEAKER_10: Come this madness.
- 27:12SPEAKER_10: September 25th.
- 27:14SPEAKER_10: That is next week, right?
- 27:16SPEAKER_10: Close.
- 27:16SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 27:17SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 28:55SPEAKER_07: But you know what?
- 28:56SPEAKER_07: I think it's great.
- 28:57SPEAKER_07: It is good because they it's a lot like Striper, remember?
- 29:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah, Striper just got better.
- 29:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 29:04SPEAKER_07: For some odd reason.
- 29:06SPEAKER_07: Same thing with Europe.
- 29:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, you've they've just like gone from there and they've just gotten better.
- 29:11SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they went from uh the final countdown and carry.
- 29:14SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 29:15SPEAKER_10: Uh, to to this.
- 29:16SPEAKER_10: And they the albums that they released in the 90s and and beyond are like very deep purple.
- 29:22SPEAKER_10: Because the deep purple was a huge influence on them.
- 29:24SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 29:24SPEAKER_08: Uh final countdown was now they're getting into like Norwegian death metal.
- 29:29SPEAKER_08: It sounds very classically based.
- 29:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:34SPEAKER_07: Well, like I said, Ying Bay Malmstein without the arrogance.
- 29:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 29:37SPEAKER_07: You know.
- 29:39SPEAKER_10: Um, and this is the original guitar player, John Norum.
- 29:42SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 29:42SPEAKER_10: He's been with him since probably '93.
- 29:46SPEAKER_10: He left and they came back.
- 29:48SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 29:55SPEAKER_10: Alright, that's very that's deep purple.
- 29:58SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 30:01SPEAKER_10: But I mean, it's a long way from the final countdown.
- 30:03SPEAKER_10: The final countdown was kind of like, and they admittedly so, they say it was a double-edged sword.
- 30:09SPEAKER_07: You know, because I get that.
- 30:12SPEAKER_10: Um it pigeonholed them.
- 30:16SPEAKER_07: But yeah, it got them out there, but it also like stuck them in like this.
- 30:19SPEAKER_10: But they also, if they didn't want to, they didn't ever have to work again.
- 30:22SPEAKER_10: That's because that song has supported them.
- 30:24SPEAKER_10: Uh literally.
- 30:25SPEAKER_10: All of these years.
- 30:26SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 30:27SPEAKER_07: I mean, you still hear Final Countdown.
- 30:28SPEAKER_10: Oh, yes.
- 30:29SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 30:29SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 30:30SPEAKER_10: For sure.
- 30:30SPEAKER_07: So.
- 30:31SPEAKER_10: So uh that comes out the September 25th, Come This Madness, from the Swedish rock band Europe.
- 30:38SPEAKER_10: Swedish.
- 30:39SPEAKER_10: Swedish.
- 30:40SPEAKER_10: Alright, it's time to play Who Ith.
- 30:43SPEAKER_10: Who this uh This is where we take suggestions from listeners uh for artists that we may not know uh and and that you may not know to kind of uh turn you on to them.
- 30:56SPEAKER_10: Now we're we're going back to uh we're going back to um Bob the Painter.
- 31:03SPEAKER_06: Bob the painter! Can we paint it?
- 31:06SPEAKER_06: Yes, we can.
- 31:08SPEAKER_10: We should make like a jingle for it.
- 31:10SPEAKER_07: I we really should.
- 31:13SPEAKER_10: Um and so he has asked us to look into Ariel Posen.
- 31:18SPEAKER_10: Now, as a guitar player, I'm familiar with Ariel Posen.
- 31:21SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 31:22SPEAKER_10: Uh and he is um uh in guitar circles, uh he's very well known.
- 31:31SPEAKER_10: Um but in like general nobody has any idea who he is.
- 31:36SPEAKER_07: I think well like uh the Brazilian lady we played there a couple weeks ago.
- 31:40SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah, Laura Laura Bastilio.
- 31:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 31:42SPEAKER_10: She's amazing.
- 31:43SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 31:44SPEAKER_10: Amazing.
- 31:45SPEAKER_10: And and she's probably like huge in Brazil.
- 31:48SPEAKER_10: Sure.
- 31:48SPEAKER_10: And probably in Europe too, I don't know.
- 31:50SPEAKER_10: And and in guitar player circle, she's definitely Josh has heard of her.
- 31:54SPEAKER_10: He's like, she's amazing.
- 31:55SPEAKER_10: Um, but speaking of amazing, Nita Strauss is going back to Alice Cooper.
- 31:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I saw that.
- 31:59SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_07: Pretty cool.
- 32:00SPEAKER_07: Well, you know, she just had the baby and everything.
- 32:02SPEAKER_07: Congratulations.
- 32:03SPEAKER_07: Exactly.
- 32:05SPEAKER_10: Um and oh, I have the big news too, by the way.
- 32:09SPEAKER_10: But I'll wait until afterward on this.
- 32:11SPEAKER_10: Um I don't know what you're talking about.
- 32:13SPEAKER_07: I know.
- 32:15SPEAKER_07: No idea.
- 32:16SPEAKER_07: I'm gonna tell you.
- 32:16SPEAKER_07: I have no idea what's gonna you're gonna say.
- 32:19SPEAKER_07: I don't know the words that are gonna come out of your mouth.
- 32:22SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 32:23SPEAKER_07: I I don't know anything.
- 32:27SPEAKER_10: That's an understatement.
- 32:30SPEAKER_10: Shut up.
- 32:31SPEAKER_07: I don't like you.
- 32:32SPEAKER_10: Okay, so Bob the Pater.
- 32:34SPEAKER_10: Bob the Pater wanted us to check out a song or two from Ariel Posen.
- 32:37SPEAKER_10: Do you want to just do one song?
- 32:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah, let's do one and then we'll do one next week.
- 32:40SPEAKER_07: So the week afterwards.
- 32:41SPEAKER_10: The first one that he mentioned was a song called Vagabond.
- 32:44SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 32:44SPEAKER_10: Uh let me just tell you kind of what he said about Ariel Posen.
- 32:49SPEAKER_10: Um, because he was the one that suggested Pucifer.
- 32:56SPEAKER_10: Correct.
- 32:57SPEAKER_10: Uh alright.
- 32:58SPEAKER_10: Don't know if you did the Pucifer thing with it.
- 33:00SPEAKER_10: Uh two songs I think you would find interesting.
- 33:02SPEAKER_10: The first is Future Present Tense.
- 33:03SPEAKER_10: I believe it's the most popular one.
- 33:05SPEAKER_10: Second is my favorite, Vagabond.
- 33:07SPEAKER_10: Really like the guitar, solo, and chorus.
- 33:10SPEAKER_10: So I picked Bob as my favorite.
- 33:12SPEAKER_10: So let's do Vagabond.
- 33:13SPEAKER_10: Okay, so this is Ariel Polly after this commercial.
- 33:50SPEAKER_03: Feeling the different sounds, yeah.
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: It took so long just to find her soul.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: Make friends with strangers, ignore the dangers, innocently.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: Somebody's daughter can stop the wonder A lefty drummer.
- 34:19SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 34:20SPEAKER_03: Everybody wants to be lost.
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: Just three piece.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, three piece.
- 34:28SPEAKER_03: Everybody has their stars crossed, laying down integrity.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: Forty five working all the time just to stay alive.
- 34:43SPEAKER_10: I eat this stuff right up.
- 34:44SPEAKER_10: This is I think this is amazing.
- 34:45SPEAKER_10: I think this is good stuff.
- 34:48SPEAKER_07: I get getting it like this like John Mayer meets Jack Johnson vibe.
- 34:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I also hear I can see Bob's a big big head Todd fan.
- 34:58SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 34:58SPEAKER_10: I hear that a little bit.
- 35:00SPEAKER_10: A little bit, yeah.
- 35:02SPEAKER_10: Not necessarily his voice, but but in the style.
- 35:05SPEAKER_10: There's a groove.
- 35:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: Can't you believe I hear what you mean about John Mayer, though.
- 35:14SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: Where do we go?
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: Where do we go?
- 35:24SPEAKER_07: He's got an interesting sound, but he's got a pop sensibility.
- 35:27SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 35:27SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 35:30SPEAKER_10: And he's this is not really showing his.
- 35:33SPEAKER_10: I mean, he's gonna do a solo here in a second, but he's an amazing slide player.
- 35:41SPEAKER_08: And it's not your typical tone is interesting.
- 35:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's not your typical.
- 35:44SPEAKER_07: No he's playing slide without a slide.
- 36:02SPEAKER_07: No, he's got one.
- 36:02SPEAKER_07: Oh he does?
- 36:03SPEAKER_07: It's a gold one.
- 36:04SPEAKER_07: Looks like his finger.
- 36:05SPEAKER_07: Oh, it's on his pinky.
- 36:06SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's why I didn't say I was looking for it on his four finger.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: Everybody wants to be lost, run until the mind is free.
- 36:30SPEAKER_13: Where do we go?
- 36:33SPEAKER_13: Where do we go if we're looking to belong?
- 36:41SPEAKER_13: How do we know?
- 36:43SPEAKER_02: Where do we go if we have a good game?
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: Where do we go?
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: Where do we go if we look into below?
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: How do we know?
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: Where do we go if we own the good bands?
- 37:13SPEAKER_10: You know, I've y I've yet to own any Ariel Posen.
- 37:16SPEAKER_07: He's really good.
- 37:18SPEAKER_10: I will It's the first time I've ever heard him.
- 37:20SPEAKER_10: I will I will own it now.
- 37:21SPEAKER_10: Uh just because I I I dig that sorrow, I dig that groove.
- 37:25SPEAKER_10: I think uh that's right up my alley.
- 37:27SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 37:28SPEAKER_10: I love that stuff.
- 37:28SPEAKER_10: Noise! Uh Ariel Posen Vagabond.
- 37:31SPEAKER_10: I'm excited to hear uh some other stuff from him as well.
- 37:35SPEAKER_10: But we're gonna do somebody else next week.
- 37:36SPEAKER_10: Correct.
- 37:37SPEAKER_10: Um and then maybe we'll come back to Ariel Posen unless Bob the Painter has another suggestion.
- 37:42SPEAKER_10: And if you have a suggestion, hit us up on Facebook or you can send uh an email.
- 37:46SPEAKER_10: We don't uh really get a lot of emails.
- 37:48SPEAKER_10: Uh to O'Brien and Doug.
- 37:50SPEAKER_10: O-B-R-I-E-N-A-N-D-D-O-U-G at uh gmail.com.
- 37:56SPEAKER_10: O'Brien and Doug.
- 37:58SPEAKER_10: Uh that's us.
- 37:59SPEAKER_10: So uh that is this week's episode of Who Dis.
- 38:03SPEAKER_10: Who dis um now we're gonna transition ever so slightly to um this one, which is the hypertheticals.
- 38:15SPEAKER_10: Hyperthetical.
- 38:17SPEAKER_10: And I'm asking you this one.
- 38:18SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 38:19SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 38:20SPEAKER_10: So this is this comes from Chuck Klosterman.
- 38:24SPEAKER_10: Uh 50 questions for insane conversations.
- 38:27SPEAKER_10: So I'm gonna basically going to present you.
- 38:29SPEAKER_07: Well, you know, no offense to Chuck, but we don't need him for insane conversations.
- 38:34SPEAKER_07: This is true.
- 38:34SPEAKER_10: This is true.
- 38:35SPEAKER_07: If anybody wants to go back through our back catalog of this podcast, you'll we will find some interesting conversations.
- 38:40SPEAKER_07: Look at the titles for Craig Love.
- 38:42SPEAKER_10: Uh okay, so I'm gonna present you with a situation and you just kind of react to it.
- 38:45SPEAKER_10: Roger that.
- 38:46SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 38:46SPEAKER_10: So you are offered a brain pill.
- 38:52SPEAKER_10: If you swallow this pill, you'll become 10% more intelligent than you currently are.
- 39:01SPEAKER_10: You will be more adept at reading comprehension, logic, and critical thinking.
- 39:07SPEAKER_10: However, to all other people you know, and to all future people you meet, you will seem 20% less intelligent.
- 39:18SPEAKER_10: In other words, you will immediately become smarter, but the rest of the world will perceive you as dumber.
- 39:27SPEAKER_10: And there's no way you can ever alter the universal universality of that perception.
- 39:34SPEAKER_10: Do you take this pill?
- 39:37SPEAKER_07: Well, it's only 10%.
- 39:39SPEAKER_07: Right?
- 39:40SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 39:40SPEAKER_10: 10% smarter, but everybody thinks you're 20% dumber.
- 39:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's not a good trade-off.
- 39:46SPEAKER_10: Right?
- 39:47SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 39:47SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 39:48SPEAKER_10: What if it was 20%?
- 39:49SPEAKER_07: I mean, because if if I take the pill, okay, I go from zero to ten percent intelligence.
- 39:54SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 39:57SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 39:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 39:59SPEAKER_07: But if I and then I go back, everybody'll think I'm 20% dumber, so now I'm like a vegetable.
- 40:08SPEAKER_07: Negative 10%.
- 40:09SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 40:10SPEAKER_10: You know?
- 40:10SPEAKER_10: Okay, what if it was flip-flopped?
- 40:12SPEAKER_10: What if what if it made you the pill made you 20% more intelligent, but people thought you were 10% less intelligent.
- 40:19SPEAKER_10: Well that I can handle.
- 40:20SPEAKER_10: Wouldn't that even it out?
- 40:21SPEAKER_07: That would even then then it'd be like, well, just regular duct.
- 40:24SPEAKER_07: Just regular duct.
- 40:25SPEAKER_07: He just uses bigger words.
- 40:27SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 40:27SPEAKER_07: You know, just he's still an idiot, but he's, you know, he's a he's a functioning idiot.
- 40:33SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 40:33SPEAKER_07: So, you know.
- 40:34SPEAKER_10: So at 10%, uh, if it gave you if it made you 10% more intelligent, but people thought you were 20% less intelligent, you wouldn't take it.
- 40:41SPEAKER_10: No.
- 40:41SPEAKER_10: If you flip-flop it, you wouldn't have to take it, because it would just be you.
- 40:45SPEAKER_10: Right?
- 40:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I mean, you know, you you take it, then I well, I mean, you could look at it, you know, you would just be even out, but you would be like you'd still have like it's 20%, but then they think you're 10% dumber, so you're still like 10% above.
- 41:03SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, you're right.
- 41:04SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 41:04SPEAKER_07: So you're still so I mean, you know, if you if you do it that way, if you think it in that terms, that's that's actually a pretty good deal.
- 41:10SPEAKER_07: You take the pill.
- 41:11SPEAKER_07: If it was 20% smarter, but they thought you were but that but they thought I was ten percent dumber?
- 41:15SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I'd take it then.
- 41:16SPEAKER_10: Yeah, because you'd be 10% smarter.
- 41:18SPEAKER_10: Well you can't.
- 41:21SPEAKER_10: They would think you're 10% smarter.
- 41:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah, they would say, well, he's a little bit smarter than he was yesterday.
- 41:26SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 41:27SPEAKER_07: You know?
- 41:27SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 41:28SPEAKER_07: Otherwise, you know, but I know it but it would actually make me like 20% smarter.
- 41:33SPEAKER_07: But they only perceive 10% smarter.
- 41:37SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 41:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 41:37SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 41:38SPEAKER_07: But the but the way it's questioned in there.
- 41:40SPEAKER_10: Yeah, no.
- 41:41SPEAKER_07: No, that's a terrible deal.
- 41:43SPEAKER_07: That's a terrible deal.
- 41:43SPEAKER_07: Yep, no, I get that.
- 41:44SPEAKER_07: That's terrible.
- 41:45SPEAKER_07: That's terrible.
- 41:45SPEAKER_07: It's like when I play Mysterio, I got bass in terrible.
- 41:49SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 41:51SPEAKER_10: So let's do this.
- 41:54SPEAKER_16: It's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 41:58SPEAKER_16: With everyone's favorites, O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Miss Judge Ness.
- 42:04SPEAKER_16: Judge Ness.
- 42:04SPEAKER_10: Mrs.
- 42:05SPEAKER_16: Mrs.
- 42:06SPEAKER_16: It's time to play mixtape, mixtape.
- 42:10SPEAKER_10: Alright, yes, it is.
- 42:11SPEAKER_10: Okay, so the question that we we Doug got smart last week, and actually See, I didn't even take a pill, and I'm already 10% smarter.
- 42:23SPEAKER_10: Doug Doug got smart and uh and saved the question from last week.
- 42:27SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 42:28SPEAKER_10: So we we we do know what she is judging on this time.
- 42:31SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 42:32SPEAKER_10: Alright, so the question from last week that Miss Judges is going to uh pick uh is picture the girl or boy you had a crush on in your youth.
- 42:43SPEAKER_10: What song do you wish would play in his or her head whenever they see you?
- 42:48SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 42:49SPEAKER_10: I remember I picked Gary Wright, the dreamweaver.
- 42:51SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 42:51SPEAKER_10: I remember this.
- 42:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 42:52SPEAKER_10: So are you ready?
- 42:54SPEAKER_07: Well, she doesn't she didn't do a voice.
- 42:56SPEAKER_07: Oh, she didn't, okay.
- 42:56SPEAKER_07: She's she says, I caught a glorious cold at my wedding and can't shake it, and now I have no voice.
- 43:02SPEAKER_11: Oh, gotcha.
- 43:03SPEAKER_07: And I said, that blows.
- 43:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 43:05SPEAKER_07: Okay, so here's her answer.
- 43:07SPEAKER_07: This week was funny.
- 43:08SPEAKER_07: I enjoyed listening to the pics for what you would want playing in your crush's head when they see you.
- 43:14SPEAKER_07: Doug's was interesting and funny, but I had to go with cousin Larry's sexy thing.
- 43:18SPEAKER_10: That was great, right?
- 43:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah, no, I I always thought that was a good one.
- 43:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that was hot chocolate.
- 43:23SPEAKER_06: You said hot chocolate.
- 43:24SPEAKER_06: Hot chocolate.
- 43:25SPEAKER_06: Sexy chocolate.
- 43:27SPEAKER_06: Hey, that boy good.
- 43:30SPEAKER_10: Now we know what movie we're gonna put in.
- 43:33SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 43:33SPEAKER_10: That's our drop.
- 43:34SPEAKER_10: Okay, um, so here is this week's question.
- 43:38SPEAKER_10: You're at the lake and start having chest pain.
- 43:42SPEAKER_10: You're having a heart attack.
- 43:44SPEAKER_10: It's two hours from the hospital, and you decide to drive yourself to the ER.
- 43:50SPEAKER_10: What song do you want to hear on the drive?
- 43:56SPEAKER_10: What does?
- 43:57SPEAKER_10: Because is it is is it just industry?
- 44:00SPEAKER_07: No, it's actually Justin.
- 44:01SPEAKER_07: Oh, Just and his wife.
- 44:04SPEAKER_07: Oh I didn't realize.
- 44:06SPEAKER_07: I didn't realize Justin was married.
- 44:07SPEAKER_07: Yes, he is married.
- 44:08SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 44:08SPEAKER_07: Very nice very nice lady.
- 44:12SPEAKER_07: Let's see.
- 44:13SPEAKER_07: You want me to recall?
- 44:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, we'll start with Justin.
- 44:15SPEAKER_07: Justin and So Mrs.
- 44:22SPEAKER_10: Judgen is gonna judge all of these.
- 44:24SPEAKER_07: Yes, okay.
- 44:25SPEAKER_07: Okay, so this is what Justin picked.
- 44:27SPEAKER_07: I would say staying alive.
- 44:31SPEAKER_07: I assume the bee gees.
- 44:32SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 44:32SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 44:34SPEAKER_07: And then he goes on, he says, Darcy, who is his wife, listened this time and she said, Highway to the danger zone.
- 44:45SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 44:46SPEAKER_10: So you're you're at the lake, you start having chest pain, you're having a heart attack, it's two hours from the hospital, you decide to drive yourself to the ER.
- 44:54SPEAKER_10: What song do you want to hear on your drive?
- 44:57SPEAKER_08: This is what they use to time up the chest compression.
- 45:03SPEAKER_08: That episode of The Office is still hysterical.
- 45:08SPEAKER_08: Is that the one where he saws the face off that he puts it on his hands?
- 45:15SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay, so this is Justin's pick.
- 45:19SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 45:21SPEAKER_10: Um and his wife.
- 45:25SPEAKER_10: Do we want to do his wife?
- 45:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 45:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah, okay.
- 45:27SPEAKER_10: So his wife's pick is not a lobstring.
- 45:30SPEAKER_10: His wife's pick.
- 45:31SPEAKER_10: What's her name?
- 45:31SPEAKER_10: Darcy.
- 45:32SPEAKER_10: Darcy.
- 45:32SPEAKER_10: Darcy's.
- 45:33SPEAKER_10: Darcy's pick is.
- 45:45SPEAKER_07: Man, I'm 14 again, man.
- 45:47SPEAKER_07: Right?
- 45:48SPEAKER_07: It's Top Gun.
- 45:49SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 45:51SPEAKER_10: I watched uh I was dialing around the other day.
- 45:54SPEAKER_10: Uh just laying in bed, just really tired from the day.
- 45:58SPEAKER_10: I think it was on Pluto.
- 46:00SPEAKER_10: Uh, the the new one.
- 46:01SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 46:02SPEAKER_10: So good.
- 46:02SPEAKER_10: Have to watch it.
- 46:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 46:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 46:04SPEAKER_10: And it's better than the first.
- 46:05SPEAKER_10: It is.
- 46:06SPEAKER_10: It really is.
- 46:06SPEAKER_10: That doesn't happen very often.
- 46:08SPEAKER_10: I know, right?
- 46:08SPEAKER_10: But that is definitely better than the first movie.
- 46:13SPEAKER_10: And they're making part three.
- 46:15SPEAKER_06: I don't What are they gonna do now?
- 46:18SPEAKER_06: I don't understand.
- 46:19SPEAKER_10: Uh Rooster?
- 46:20SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 46:23SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 46:24SPEAKER_10: Is uh is uh Maverick now an admiral?
- 46:27SPEAKER_10: Like Iceman was?
- 46:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I don't know.
- 46:30SPEAKER_10: I don't know what they're gonna do.
- 46:31SPEAKER_07: I think it's gonna be like a uh Did you see the last Rambo?
- 46:36SPEAKER_07: The last blood?
- 46:37SPEAKER_07: I didn't.
- 46:39SPEAKER_07: It was basically like he goes after the Mexican cartels.
- 46:43SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 46:44SPEAKER_07: Okay?
- 46:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:44SPEAKER_07: And he's just like, it doesn't, you know, he gets pretty beat up and shot up and at the end of it, but he's just sitting in a rocking chair at the end of it, and the movie just like face black, right?
- 46:56SPEAKER_07: I think it's gonna be something like that.
- 46:58SPEAKER_07: See, Mav's out of the Navy now.
- 47:00SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 47:00SPEAKER_07: He's still got that, he's got that Spitfire, I think it is.
- 47:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_07: That he was working on at the end.
- 47:05SPEAKER_07: He took uh, what's her face?
- 47:06SPEAKER_07: Jennifer O'Connell weapon.
- 47:07SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 47:08SPEAKER_07: So he is gonna take that plane and he's gonna go to Iran and like strafe the Ayatollah or something.
- 47:18SPEAKER_07: Like off the radar, just down below.
- 47:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he's just gonna be.
- 47:21SPEAKER_05: They're gonna be like, why is that thing moving so slowly?
- 47:25SPEAKER_05: It must be a humongous drone, and you know, Tom Cruise is gonna be like, haha, it's me, mother truckers!
- 47:34SPEAKER_07: No.
- 47:36SPEAKER_07: Yeah, something like that.
- 47:39SPEAKER_07: Or or my original thought when we went to see the movie with Bob at the theater, and I said Tom Cruise flies to hell and rescues L.
- 47:49SPEAKER_07: Ron Hubbard.
- 47:51SPEAKER_05: Either way, it's gonna be one of those.
- 47:56SPEAKER_10: Oh my goodness.
- 47:57SPEAKER_10: Alright, so that's Darcy's pick.
- 47:59SPEAKER_10: So staying alive from the BeG's is Justin's, and Danger Zone is Darcy's.
- 48:04SPEAKER_10: What is Cousin Larry's?
- 48:05SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah, cousin Larry.
- 48:06SPEAKER_07: I should uh look him up here.
- 48:07SPEAKER_07: Yeah, you probably should.
- 48:09SPEAKER_07: He probably wanna be an honest.
- 48:12SPEAKER_07: Okie dokie.
- 48:14SPEAKER_07: Okay, mixtape.
- 48:16SPEAKER_07: The first song I thought of was Queen's Sheer Heart Attack.
- 48:21SPEAKER_07: Songs about racing somewhere fast, like Sammy's I Can't Drive 55 and Purple the Purple's Highway Star seem appropriate.
- 48:29SPEAKER_07: But the song they teach you to say giving CPRs seem to be most appropriate.
- 48:34SPEAKER_05: So I'll go with BG's Tay Alive.
- 48:38SPEAKER_07: Oh, now maybe he usually gives an honorable mention, so I could listen to it and sing while keeping one hand on the wheel and pounding, pounding my chest in rhythm to the song with my other hand.
- 48:51SPEAKER_07: Honorable mention to Motorhead's Ace of Spades as speed and luck are my friends while trying to drive myself to the hospital.
- 48:59SPEAKER_10: So which one do you want to do?
- 49:00SPEAKER_10: Let's do the ace of spades motorhead.
- 49:03SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 49:03SPEAKER_00: So let's there, let's see.
- 49:59SPEAKER_07: I think I see the point, you know, it's gonna give you that like adrenaline rush to drive faster to get to the hospital.
- 50:06SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 50:09SPEAKER_10: Is it okay?
- 50:10SPEAKER_10: I think I went the total opposite.
- 50:12SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:12SPEAKER_08: Which is fine.
- 50:14SPEAKER_08: Alright, what was yours?
- 50:15SPEAKER_07: Mine was Metallica's whiplash.
- 50:18SPEAKER_08: You wait, you chose Metallica?
- 50:19SPEAKER_08: Mm-hmm.
- 50:20SPEAKER_08: No way.
- 50:21SPEAKER_07: I know, that's odd.
- 50:23SPEAKER_07: You know, because I don't I'm not a big fan of them or anything.
- 50:25SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 50:26SPEAKER_10: So well, I already know it's gonna win.
- 50:30SPEAKER_10: This Mrs.
- 50:30SPEAKER_10: Justice, I think, is a big Metallica fan.
- 51:42SPEAKER_07: That was a naughty word.
- 51:45SPEAKER_10: Sorry, I think that's how edits just happen.
- 51:53SPEAKER_10: Like like if there's a naughty word and stuff like that.
- 51:57SPEAKER_10: Plus just when that word comes up, just have just have your voice.
- 52:03SPEAKER_10: Naughty words, body words.
- 52:09SPEAKER_08: Right over right over the top of it.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 52:32SPEAKER_07: Adrenaline starts to flow, you start thrashing all around.
- 52:34SPEAKER_07: Say, yeah, I'm having a heart attack, man.
- 52:36SPEAKER_07: So you know, adrenaline's gonna be throwing on where you're thrashing around.
- 52:38SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 52:39SPEAKER_10: Well again, I went the total opposite.
- 52:42SPEAKER_10: Uh I get the staying alive.
- 52:44SPEAKER_10: Actually, and I I get all of them.
- 52:46SPEAKER_10: But I I went um uh the very melodramatic route.
- 52:51SPEAKER_10: Uh uh, and if this was going to be like the end for me, like if I'm not gonna make it to the hospital, uh I wanted to hear a beautiful piece of music.
- 53:00SPEAKER_10: So I I went the total opposite.
- 53:02SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 53:02SPEAKER_10: Um and I went with my favorite piece of classical music.
- 53:06SPEAKER_06: Oh I think I know.
- 53:08SPEAKER_10: You of course you know, because of what I talk about all the time.
- 53:10SPEAKER_06: Yes, it is a good song.
- 53:11SPEAKER_10: Samuel Barber.
- 53:12SPEAKER_10: A doge over strings.
- 53:16SPEAKER_11: Hello.
- 53:17SPEAKER_11: Oh, it's muted.
- 53:19SPEAKER_11: I don't know why it's muted, because I didn't mute it.
- 53:23SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 53:28SPEAKER_10: All right, I wanna fast forward because the the the the way this thing builds is just a good one.
- 54:03SPEAKER_10: Maybe when I read the question or heard the question, maybe I thought of it in terms of a movie.
- 54:09SPEAKER_10: Oh, sure.
- 54:09SPEAKER_10: And you know, I was trying to get to the hospital, but there's a chance I might not make it.
- 54:15SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 54:15SPEAKER_10: I just went melodramatic, you know, it's just sure.
- 54:18SPEAKER_10: I get it.
- 54:19SPEAKER_10: This and any chance to listen to this piece of music to me is a chance I'll take it.
- 54:55SPEAKER_10: You're wondering what happened.
- 54:56SPEAKER_10: Doug just dropped the mixtape cards all over the floor again.
- 55:02SPEAKER_06: Don't like it!
- 55:04SPEAKER_10: Anyway, so that is my choice.
- 55:07SPEAKER_10: Samuel Barber, a Dagio for Strings.
- 55:11SPEAKER_10: And uh actually, I wonder if I should choose that or the the the version that has the has vocals, which is um uh Onus Day.
- 55:22SPEAKER_10: I don't know, I'll stick with this one, I think.
- 55:25SPEAKER_10: Should I do what do you think?
- 55:28SPEAKER_07: I'm picking up cards.
- 55:29SPEAKER_10: Have you have you heard of have you heard on I don't think I've ever heard it with words.
- 55:33SPEAKER_07: Are you sure?
- 55:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 55:37SPEAKER_10: Uh let's see.
- 55:42SPEAKER_10: Let's see.
- 55:43SPEAKER_10: This is this one's live.
- 55:46SPEAKER_10: Let me just let me just play a piece of it because it's it's so beautiful.
- 55:49SPEAKER_10: Either way, with with vocals or not.
- 55:52SPEAKER_10: They call it's uh dagio for strings.
- 55:57SPEAKER_10: But for voice.
- 56:01SPEAKER_10: Actually, yeah, I think I might go with this one.
- 56:03SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 56:14SPEAKER_10: Yeah, this is what I'm listening to on the way to the hospital.
- 56:18SPEAKER_10: Just in case I die.
- 56:21SPEAKER_04: I'm being sung to heaven by angels, right?
- 56:25SPEAKER_10: So this is Samuel Barber uh Agnus Dia or Agnus Dei.
- 56:32SPEAKER_10: Probably this this melody and this this piece of music is my favorite classical piece of music.
- 56:39SPEAKER_07: This is nice.
- 56:39SPEAKER_07: I've never heard boy voices.
- 56:41SPEAKER_10: It's beautiful, it's absolutely beautiful.
- 56:43SPEAKER_10: Uh, and then of course Whiplash from Metallica is Doug's.
- 56:47SPEAKER_07: You know, one extreme to the other.
- 56:48SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:49SPEAKER_10: Uh we settled on Motorhead's Ace of Spades for Cousin Larry.
- 56:53SPEAKER_10: Danger Zone from uh Darcy, Justin's wife, and Justin Picks staying alive.
- 56:59SPEAKER_10: Lots to choose from, Mrs.
- 57:00SPEAKER_10: Judgeness.
- 57:02SPEAKER_10: So get your work cut out for you.
- 57:04SPEAKER_10: It's gonna be a big week.
- 57:06SPEAKER_10: It is.
- 57:07SPEAKER_10: Uh, what is our new question?
- 57:10SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 57:12SPEAKER_07: We may have done this one before, but I don't remember.
- 57:14SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 57:15SPEAKER_07: It sounds familiar, but a lot of them do that.
- 57:17SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 57:19SPEAKER_07: Uh, you just got cut off by a biker gang, and they all flip you off as they roar by.
- 57:25SPEAKER_07: You catch up to them at the next light.
- 57:27SPEAKER_07: What's the song playing in your head as you fantasize about single-handedly kicking all their naughty words?
- 57:34SPEAKER_07: Bruce Lee Style.
- 57:38SPEAKER_07: That's for you, Blanchard children.
- 57:45SPEAKER_10: Do you want to know just what just popped into my head?
- 57:47SPEAKER_10: Not a song.
- 57:48SPEAKER_10: Do you want to know just what popped into my head?
- 57:50SPEAKER_10: What?
- 57:50SPEAKER_10: So the biker gang drives by and flips you off.
- 57:53SPEAKER_10: Is that what is that what it was?
- 57:54SPEAKER_10: They flipped you off?
- 57:55SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 57:55SPEAKER_10: Well, you pull up to them in the next light, and then you just roll down the window and you go, that was naughty.
- 58:02SPEAKER_10: Naughty word.
- 58:04SPEAKER_05: Naughty word!
- 58:09SPEAKER_10: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 58:11SPEAKER_10: Alright, so there we go.
- 58:12SPEAKER_10: That is our question.
- 58:13SPEAKER_10: Uh something about a biker gang.
- 58:15SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 58:16SPEAKER_10: What song is going to play when you pull up to them at the light?
- 58:19SPEAKER_06: Correct.
- 58:19SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 58:20SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 58:20SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 58:20SPEAKER_06: And now I'm going to send it to cousin Larry.

- 1:00:29SPEAKER_10: This you know the one with this song on it.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_10: The one that uh Denzel Washington played so eloquently in the movie.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_10: Great movie.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_10: Hurricane.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_10: So it is um Bob Dylan's greatest hits, volume three.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_10: Uh 14 tracks.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_10: Uh thing is, is I also well no, I won't, I won't, uh, I won't taint it.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_10: Let's uh let's see.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_10: Who do you want to hear from first?
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_07: Uh who do you got?
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_07: Did we hear from Carrione?
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_07: I I think so.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_10: Uh let's see.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_02: Here comes the story of Baron K.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_07: Um I don't remember hearing from Carrioni, but we got a lot of there were a lot of texts.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_10: What he does is he he sends this big long text, multi-paragraph text.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_10: And the last paragraph is this.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's right.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_10: So he says, I vote.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_10: Hold on.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_10: Let me see here.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_07: Oh, he had a He had a uh thing where uh three bodies lie in dead is bad.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_07: For uh for what the question for mixtape he did?
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_07: My pick for the song would have probably been Girl Don't Go Away Mad by Molly Grove.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_10: Oh, last week's.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_10: Uh but he he for for Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Volume 3.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_10: Trash! He votes trash.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_10: Uh great writer and a visionary in the musical world.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_10: Just can't keep him, though.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_10: That's one vote for trash.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_10: There we go.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_10: Um, and I do have um from cousin Larry.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_10: Larry sent me this.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_10: Um Smash or Trash.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_10: I was never a huge Dylan fan.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_10: There were a few songs I liked, like Rainy Day Women, Like a Rolling Stone, and Knocking on Heaven's Door.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_10: But then I watched A Complete Unknown, and it really changed my feelings about his music.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_10: I immediately bought the double album The Essential Bob Dylan right after watching it, and really love it.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_10: So smash.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_07: Alright, so no.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_10: So we're tied.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_10: Uh and let's see.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_10: Bounce and Bob.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_10: Let's see.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_10: Let's go back here.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_10: Bounce and Bob.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_10: I think Bounce and Bob voted.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_10: I'm pretty sure he did.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I think he did.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_10: Um, Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Volume 3.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_10: As much as I love history and cherish those who were involved in changing American music, I cannot recommend keeping this album.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_10: Um so Tri Yes.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_10: He says, Bob Dylan is a great writer, but to me the guy cannot sing.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_10: I would rather hear the scratching of chalk on a chalkboard than to hear his voice.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_10: While listening to the album, my wife told me Dylan was a legend to those in the folk music genre, and he performed in her hometown of Newport, Rhode Island.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah, that was the big one.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah, that was the one uh at the jazz festival there.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_10: She said that as soon as he started playing electric guitar, they thought he had betrayed them.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_10: Unfortunately, Bob Dylan is not someone I can listen to.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that was uh That was a big scandal back then.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_10: That was a big scandal back then.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they booed him.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_07: I mean it was Well, I mean, uh who else am I thinking of?
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_07: John Coltrane did the same or was it John Coltrane or Sonny Rollins?
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_07: He plugged into uh camp and played.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_07: Really?
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_07: But I think that was post-gilling, so it wasn't as big a deal.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_10: People expected it.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_10: So something like that, yeah.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_10: Uh okay, so he votes trash as well.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_10: So that's two for trash, one for smash.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_10: Do we have anybody else?
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_10: Uh Judge.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_10: What does Ms.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_10: Judges say?
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_06: Judge Nith Judge.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry, Mrs.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_06: Judge.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_07: As for Smash and Trash, Bob Dylan is great to listen to, and a greatest hits album is a great is great.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_07: I'd have to smash.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_10: Oh wow.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_10: So that we're tied.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_10: So we have two uh smashes and two trashes, right?
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_10: So is it just you and I left?
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_10: Correct.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_10: Uh Doug, what is your vote?
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_10: I am trash.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_10: Oh, whoops.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_10: Oh, right.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_08: You played the wrong one.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_08: I did, yeah.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_08: Okay, so you not nothing.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_07: I mean, I l I have that album.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_07: But I only got it because I loved that song Hurricane.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_10: Hurricane, yeah.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_07: And you know, and then I listened to it and I liked other songs, but I mean, I only really bought it just for the one.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_10: So I get it.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_10: Um I also am TRAH! Trash! And here's why.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_10: Um I have the um box set.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_10: Bob Dylan biograph.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_10: It doesn't have hurricane on it.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_10: And and and it doesn't there's a couple songs on here that it doesn't have on it.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_10: Um that is why I got this album is for hurricane.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_10: Just the same as you.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_10: Because I love this.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_10: I love that song.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_10: But I can find that song anywhere now.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_10: True.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_10: You know.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_10: Um and I'm uh like I said, trying to thin the herd.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_10: So I have Bob Dylan's greatest hits, um, box set, uh, which has almost everything else on this album on it.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_10: I also have uh two Bob Dylan uh bootleg albums.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_10: Oh That have a couple of these on it and a couple different versions of them on it.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_10: Um you know, as far as Bob Dylan goes as an artist, uh I'm on the f I'm on the fence about him as an artist because I think he's just he's just too quirky for me.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_10: Um to music.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_07: He's moxiesoda of music.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_10: Um his contribution to songwriting uh in general.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_10: As a songwriter, I can't I can't completely get rid of Bob Dylan.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_10: Because of uh just you know just historically.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_10: Historically and and the the lyrics that he's written are amazing.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_10: They really are.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_10: I mean it's it's like it's like and he'll tell you too, uh I haven't seen that movie that Cousin Larry was talking about.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_10: I haven't seen it yet.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_10: Uh I heard it I heard it was really good.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_10: That's the one with Timothy Chalamet, right?
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_10: Timothy Chalamet.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_10: Right, I forgot about that.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I haven't watched it.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'm gonna watch it.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_10: I totally forgot about it.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_10: Um but uh and I have heard good things about it.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_10: But Bob Dylan has said, you know, it's like it's like he was channeling, it's like he has an antenna up or had an antenna up.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_10: And he just he didn't write it.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_10: It was just it just came, you know, and it just was almost like freeform.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_07: Maybe that's why he talks the way he does.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_10: Maybe.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_10: Could be.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_07: He's using swinging around.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_10: But I mean and you can't well, and I know you know this, but I wanna uh let's see.
- 1:07:40SPEAKER_10: I wanna kind of shed some light on this for those who don't know it.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_10: Um this song that everybody requests or did for a while.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_10: Oh Wagon Wheel, yeah.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_10: Wagon Wheel.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_10: That's Bob Dylan.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_10: Uh or it's based on a Bob Dylan song.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_10: Let's they finished for him.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_10: Uh his his um uh actually I'll play uh play this version of this song.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_10: Um this this um I there's a there's a version of this song that um is Bob Dylan's favorite.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_10: I'm not gonna play that version.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna play this version because most people, well, not most people, people would know this version.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_10: Billy Joel did a version of this song as well.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_10: Um this is Adele's version of To Make You Feel My Love.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_10: To make you feel my love is a Bob Dylan song.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_10: I mean, it doesn't Can you hear Bob Dylan singing this?
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_10: I have heard Bob Dylan singing.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_10: Have you?
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_10: Actually, yeah.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_10: I used to have the album.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_10: Um I had it on cassette, actually.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_14: Um he didn't sing it poorly on that album.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_08: He wasn't he wasn't there yet.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_13: So I could have.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_10: Anyway, uh, I just want to, you know, because Bob Dylan uh is more than his catalog.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_10: He's he's he's just I don't know.
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_10: So I'm not gonna entity on his own.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_10: He really is.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_10: He's just he's just kind of weird.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_10: He's weird, but yeah, you know, he's lovable.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_07: He's weird and lovable.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah, eccentric in some ways.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_10: So um that is gonna go to KMH Music uh in uh in in the bin.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_10: Actually, KMH Music just got a bunch of uh vinyl in and a bunch of CDs in uh from a collector, and so they they they have uh more to choose from now.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_10: They're gonna sort through it and and uh put that out there.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_10: So uh if you're looking for vinyl, some of it rare, uh you should go check out KMH Music and Press Cow because they probably have what you're looking for.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_10: Alright, so we are officially trashing Bob Dylan's greatest hits volume three.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_10: So um next is um what?
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_10: Next week is uh anything going on?
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_11: We will have a couple gigs of dark one, yeah.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_10: I do have it.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_10: All right, so see if you recognize any of this.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_10: You probably don't.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_14: Forget sounds good.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_14: Forget, I'm not sure.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_14: They say time to use everything, but I'm still waiting.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_14: I'm through when it's down.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_14: There's nothing left for me to figure out.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_14: I've paid a price, and I'll keep paying.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_10: You recognize it?
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_10: Do you know who it is?
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_10: No, no.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_14: My friends from high school.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_10: Chad Smith on drums.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_14: And sing goes with parents.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_10: I don't know if he's on all the songs, but he's on quite a few of them.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_10: Kev Mo is on the top.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_14: Still don't know who it is.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_10: I don't know that you would know.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_10: Actually, play a couple pieces of a couple other songs.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_14: Buses, cars, airplanes leaving.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_10: This might be a polarizing one, actually.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_10: Okay, so I'll tell you what this is.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_10: Um there's there's a lot of um there's a lot of um uh American stupidity wrapped up in this one.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_10: And here's here's what I mean.
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_10: Um This is the Dixie Chicks.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_10: Oh this is the album that they released after country music just basically showed them the door.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_10: Um, because of words that they said when they were in Europe, is that right?
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they were in Europe and they criticized the president, which I didn't agree with.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_10: I mean, you don't do that.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_10: I don't care where I don't care who you are, I don't care where you are, you don't do that.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_10: But I think the reaction um to to that was stupid.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_10: I think uh and and and stupid is the wrong word.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_10: Um I think it was excessive.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_10: Um I I I don't think they were canceled, basically, is what they were.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_10: And I don't agree with cancel culture.
- 1:15:23SPEAKER_10: Um they are an amazing group, amazingly talented.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_10: They may not you might you may not agree with them politically.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_10: I don't agree with them politically.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_10: Uh this is an amazing album.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_10: Uh this is called uh Taking the Long Way.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_10: Uh this one right here's got Kep Mo on it.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_10: Um as I said, Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers plays drums on a lot of these songs.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_14: Sunny Mo.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_10: Rick Rubin produced it.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_10: Um But it's it's it's it's a reaction most of it is a reaction to the backlash that they received.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_10: Not ready to make nice.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_10: I'm not gonna apologize for what I what I said, you know.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_10: Just as a just as a record, as a piece of music, I think it's fantastic.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_10: Um I don't think it did well.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_10: Um because they they had lost uh more than half their audience, I'm sure.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_10: It's called I Hope.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_14: I hope for more love for joy and laughter.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_14: I hope we'll have to do it.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_10: So let me just pose a question to you.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_10: Cause I'm uh my problem I think I probably know where you sit on this.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_10: I think.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_10: Happy Rafter.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_10: Would it have made a difference?
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_10: In the grand scheme of things, not necessarily in your personal opinion, but do you think it would have made a difference if they said the same things at a at a concert in the US?
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_07: Well, when you say things like that in the US, it's one thing.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_10: Because it's freedom of speech.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_07: When you go overseas and say the same thing, that's that's a different thing.
- 1:17:26SPEAKER_10: Okay, how?
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_07: I I don't disagree, but it's because you're not on because here you got free yeah, on U.S.
- 1:17:34SPEAKER_07: soil you have freedom of speech.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_07: You go over there, just because you're American, you don't have freedom of speech.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_07: You still can because you're a celebrity or whatever.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_07: But it's still not cool to go other places and talk trash about where you're from.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_07: You understand what I'm saying?
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_07: That's that's the problem.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_07: So do you think not necessarily what they said.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_07: If they if they were in like New York, I mean you hear it all the time.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_07: I mean, you know, if you were in New York City or Los Angeles or whatever and you said those things, everybody, you know, people would still have mad, but they would have been like, okay, whatever.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_10: People do it all the time.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_10: They trash Trump all over the place.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_07: Yeah, they trump trash things.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_10: They trash Trump, they trash the country, they trash everything.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_10: Sometimes those people need to be trashed.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_10: You know, sometimes.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_07: But when you go, when you go to somebody you know, if I go to your if I come to your house and I start talking trash about somebody else's house.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_07: That's you know, our my house.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_07: You know, that's not cool.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_07: You know?
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_10: No, I mean, I get it.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_10: Like I said, it was stupid of them to do, but I thought, I thought the backlash that they received was was excessive.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_10: I didn't think that they should.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_07: Now, if they'd done that today, it probably wouldn't be the same.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_10: You're right.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_10: It would they wouldn't have gotten canceled.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_10: That was a different time.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_10: They wouldn't have gotten canceled.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_10: You're right.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_10: It was this album came out for to give you uh to put this in perspective.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_10: Came out in 2006.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_10: We had just been hit 9-11 was 2001.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_07: So it they did it within that time where everybody was still everybody was still pissed off.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_10: So it just goes to show you how.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_07: Now if they had said now, like I said, if they had done it today, probably nobody would have even batted enough.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_10: No, they wouldn't.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_10: So they wouldn't.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_10: Uh it was just a matter of time.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_10: Just goes to show you timing how much America has changed in the past 20 years or 25 years.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_10: I mean, it's so anyway, that is what's on the chopping block.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_10: Um, I do love this album.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_10: Um, I can also do without this album.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_10: Uh so what do I do with Dixie Chicks taking the long way?
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_10: I believe it's their last, it's not their last studio album.
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_10: Uh it's it is it their last studio album as the Dixie Chicks, because they stupidly named renamed themselves the Chicks.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_10: Uh I think that was stupid too.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_10: That was dumb.
- 1:19:50SPEAKER_10: Um but so yeah, do I do I trash the Dixie Chicks like everybody else has?
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_10: Um the album Taking the Long Way.
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_10: So I look forward to getting your votes.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_10: That's your Kev Moe right there.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_10: Alright.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_10: So that is episode, what did I say, 306?
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_07: I don't remember if you even said it.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_10: I think I did.
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah, episode 306.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I did.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_10: I did, darn it.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_08: All right, right.
