- 1:24Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to Vegas Revealed.
- 1:26Dayna Roselli: We're at episode 239.
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here in Las Vegas.
- 1:33Dayna Roselli: It is, you know, fall type weather.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: Um this weekend we're having a warm-up of uh the high 90s.
- 1:40Dayna Roselli: So, but it's a great time of year.
- 1:42Dayna Roselli: I was saying earlier, Sean, that it's getting darker uh earlier and I don't love it.
- 1:46Dayna Roselli: And you were like, you know what?
- 1:47Dayna Roselli: I've actually been really enjoying the backyard because you guys watch like TV and light the tiki torches and do a whole thing.
- 1:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, we turn it into like an outdoor living room, which if you live here in Las Vegas, that is one of the perks of having well, most months of the year.
- 2:04Sean McAllister: Obviously, in the summertime, that's like technically our winter when we, you know, stay cooped up inside.
- 2:10Sean McAllister: But now, through the winter, it's nice to be outside.
- 2:14Sean McAllister: So, yeah, we treat the backyard like an extension of the house.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: So I'm, you know, it has been really nice at night.
- 2:21Dayna Roselli: And finally, I mean, it has been a long, hot summer.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: We say that all the time.
- 2:25Dayna Roselli: We also say fall's the best time of year to be in Vegas.
- 2:27Dayna Roselli: You can still go out to the pool, you can still get sun, the sun is super warm, and you can still swim, but then again, you can also take a walk and feel like you can breathe.
- 2:39Sean McAllister: Yes, exactly.
- 2:41Dayna Roselli: All right, well, let's start off with some fan mail.
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: We got some fan mail from Daniel out of Sweden.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: Daniel, yeah.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: What's going on?
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: Well, he says, hi, and thanks for a great podcast.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: I am going to visit Las Vegas for work in October.
- 2:56Dayna Roselli: He's planning to extend his stay with a weekend to discover some, you know, stuff and have some fun.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: Um, he says, since he's going to be here alone, he was wondering if we had any tips on spots where people are more open to meet strangers, bars, nightclubs, any other activities that we suggest.
- 3:11Dayna Roselli: So thank you, Daniel.
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: You really made us think because we have always like lists of things to do and and fun things all over.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: But I was thinking, okay, alone and where people are open to meeting strangers.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: But then as we discussed it, we were kind of like, okay, we've got some ideas, but I think really like a lot of groups of people and people are open to meeting strangers in Las Vegas because you have visitors from all over the world.
- 3:37Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 3:38Sean McAllister: And you end up going to places where you are already, you know, kind of mingling with people from other parts of the country, other parts of the world.
- 3:46Sean McAllister: There are actually two things that I just jotted down that popped into my head that we didn't talk about before, Dana.
- 3:53Sean McAllister: Um one of the activities that you might want to do, Daniel, uh, there's a a pedal bike bar crawl in the downtown Las Vegas area.
- 4:04Sean McAllister: I've done it before, and it really is a lot of fun.
- 4:08Sean McAllister: And if you book a seat on that bike and you pedal, pedal around downtown, make those bar stops, you will 100% uh start talking to the person next to you, across to you, really everyone in the whole group as you make those stops.
- 4:24Sean McAllister: Also, um a couple dinner ideas.
- 4:27Sean McAllister: Number one, you might want to book one of the finger-licking foodie tours because that gets a group of people together who don't necessarily all come from the same group of people, and you go restaurant hopping, have little bites at each restaurant, and by the end of it, you've had a full meal and you've gotten to know an entire group of people.
- 4:48Sean McAllister: Along those lines, if you're going to dinner alone, pull up a seat at a bar and at a steakhouse or whatever restaurant, a lot of them have a full menu at the bar, and you can strike up conversations with the person sitting next to you or the bartender.
- 5:05Sean McAllister: It's great.
- 5:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:06Dayna Roselli: And you're right, because uh a lot of times the bartenders also have great insight and stories and might tell you where to go next or you know, things like that.
- 5:15Dayna Roselli: Um, great suggestion because you and I were saying, I don't think nightclubs that's not really the place to meet people because it's so loud.
- 5:23Sean McAllister: It's so loud.
- 5:24Dayna Roselli: You can't it's more of a vibe, it's more of like a sit and sip and dance floor and you know, listen to the DJ.
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: And it's better if you're kind of with people you already know.
- 5:35Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 5:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's what I think.
- 5:36Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 5:36Sean McAllister: I would avoid nightclubs for sure.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: But you know, we have some great like ultra lounge um places.
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: You know, all the hotel casinos have hotel bars, um, you know, either on the casino floor or around that area, and those are always great to meet people as well.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: I think sitting at the bar, like you said, is key.
- 5:55Dayna Roselli: Then you don't look like you're sitting in a couch area and you're waiting for others to come.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: You know, so I think and you're right also about just eating at the bar at restaurants.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: It doesn't matter how nice a restaurant is, you know, even the nice restaurants have great bar seating.
- 6:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, and even if you're not a a big drinker, still sit at the bar and you can, you know, order soda, water, whatever, you know, whatever beverage you want.
- 6:20Sean McAllister: Um, but those bar seats really are they're prime, they're great.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: So so that's our suggestion.
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: Um, but we do have an episode where we focused on a similar question, and we had like a list of kind of our staple things you need to do.
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: And I think that one person was also coming in alone.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: So episode 213 is what you want to go back to.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: Sean and I go over a list.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: I think it's toward the middle, toward the end.
- 6:45Dayna Roselli: It was kind of like our tip of the week, but we get pretty in-depth with some of the things, and I don't know if Daniel doesn't really say if he's ever been here or not, but especially if you've never been here.
- 6:53Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: Some of the things that you can do.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: So go check out episode 213.
- 6:57Sean McAllister: And actually, just as a a side note, um, if you are new to the Vegas Revealed podcast, um, it it doesn't hurt to scroll back several episodes and you know, listen to some uh previous conversations that we've had because a lot of the information is still relevant.
- 7:17Sean McAllister: Yes, you know, there we might be talking about it because a restaurant opened or an attraction added something, or so there's a timely reason to talk about it, but that information carries on in most cases.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really does.
- 7:30Dayna Roselli: I mean, if you're going back like seasons, some of you know, things open and close.
- 7:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, we may not have things anymore.
- 7:36Dayna Roselli: No, okay, so let's talk about uh Pink.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: She was in town.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: I love this.
- 7:40Dayna Roselli: She did her show over at Allegiant Stadium, but she also attended other shows, and I think that's so wonderful.
- 7:44Dayna Roselli: She went to Cirque de Soleil's MJ1, and she also went to see Absinthe uh the night before her show at Allegiant Stadium.
- 7:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I uh was stopped over there to the stopped.
- 7:56Sean McAllister: I bought tickets to go and see the show.
- 7:58Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 7:59Sean McAllister: Um, and she did she came out on stage and Pink was saying Absinthe, which I'm sure she loved MJ1 too, but she she was like, I've seen Absinthe like 12 times.
- 8:11Sean McAllister: I love it so much.
- 8:13Sean McAllister: Um, she said she likes how raunchy Absinthe is.
- 8:17Dayna Roselli: Well, it is, you know, but it's funny, even if you're like uncomfortable, it's funny.
- 8:20Sean McAllister: It is.
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: And you know, that and the people who put on Absinthe, Spiegel World, same people who just debuted Disco Show.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: I had someone DM me the other day and say, Hey, should I go to Disco Show?
- 8:30Dayna Roselli: I'm coming into town.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: I listened to the podcast, I heard you describe it.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: I'm like, yes.
- 8:34Dayna Roselli: But if you are looking for a visual in our television show uh that we're posting this weekend, it airs on Fox Five, then we'll put it on our YouTube.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: We have a lot of visuals from Disco Show.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: Tons of them that can kind of like, if you're trying to understand what it is, this will help.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: So go to our YouTube and watch that.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: Um, but back to Pink and Allegiant Stadium.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: You've been to many concerts there at Allegiant Stadium, and everyone always says, you know, the sound isn't the best, it's a big area.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: Um, but you go in kind of expecting, you're watching a show at a stadium.
- 9:04Dayna Roselli: Um, I did go to Taylor Swift and I thought it was fine, but I was also on the ground.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: It makes a difference where you are inside the stadium for sure.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: Okay, good to know.
- 9:12Dayna Roselli: So, but you had an interesting idea and a suggestion that I thought was wonderful.
- 9:18Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 9:18Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh, that's right.
- 9:19Sean McAllister: I forgot that we were even going to talk about that.
- 9:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that was my whole point of adding it into the rundown.
- 9:24Sean McAllister: So here's the thing with um uh Cheryl Crow opened for Pink.
- 9:29Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 9:29Sean McAllister: And Cheryl Crow's audio mix, you could tell that it wasn't done specifically for her.
- 9:36Sean McAllister: Um, it sounded kind of muddy.
- 9:38Sean McAllister: Like I like Cheryl Crow, but I don't know all the lyrics to her songs, and I couldn't clearly make them out.
- 9:45Sean McAllister: When Pink went on, the audio was crystal clear.
- 9:49Sean McAllister: So there was something going on with the audio mix there.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: However, the idea that I had is like Allegiant Stadium, what if you had an app where you know people could bring up people who are at the show could bring up the the mix from the audio board through the app and you know actually have airpods in or earphones or something so that you can hear at least in one ear, like a crystal clear feed of the audio, and then you're seeing it too.
- 10:24Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 10:24Sean McAllister: And maybe it's just because I'm getting old and my hearing I probably should get my hearing checked.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: No, because everyone is vision and all that, but talking about this and uh uh way back at the opening show.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: Who was it?
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: Uh Garth Brooks, right?
- 10:37Sean McAllister: It was Garth, yeah.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and people were saying, and it's gotten better, but um but I I think that's a great idea.
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: Why not?
- 10:45Sean McAllister: I mean, if there's something easy that you could just download, now I know that uh there's probably issues with people like grabbing the audio and broadcasting it other places, which you don't want to happen.
- 10:56Sean McAllister: I don't know, but I feel like there's a technology solution to give people like a personal listening experience during the concert.
- 11:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 11:05Dayna Roselli: Could be an app that you just, you know, you have a code when you're in there.
- 11:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I don't know.
- 11:09Dayna Roselli: They can work that part out.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: You you just have the idea.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just the idea.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: Hey, this weekend we're going to iHeart.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: Uh, that's at Team Mobile.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: A lot of great performances should be taking place.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: We'll talk about that next week.
- 11:22Dayna Roselli: Uh, the lineup includes like Halsey, Gwen Stefani, Big Sean, Keith Urban, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, New Kids on the Block, and many more.
- 11:30Sean McAllister: Yeah, so that is gonna be a good time.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: Uh every year it happens.
- 11:35Sean McAllister: Um the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
- 11:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 11:39Sean McAllister: Uh, and it's actually streaming live on Hulu.
- 11:42Sean McAllister: So if you're not here in Las Vegas or if you're in Las Vegas and don't have a ticket, um, it's gonna be streaming live on Hulu, so you can uh check out the concert there.
- 11:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's the uh and we say this weekend, so it depends when you're listening.
- 11:55Dayna Roselli: You may have listened, it's over, but it's September 20th and 21st.
- 11:59Dayna Roselli: And then I think they do a replay and stuff too.
- 12:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think they have in years past.
- 12:03Sean McAllister: Yeah, it'll probably stay up there for a little bit, I'd imagine.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 12:07Dayna Roselli: We're gonna talk about the Sphere and the new uh VU2 immersive concert film.
- 12:11Dayna Roselli: We touched on it, we told you we have a great interview with the head of capture over at the Sphere.
- 12:18Dayna Roselli: But first, let's talk about this UFC uh event that took place at Sphere because everyone's talking about how incredible it looked, just looking at all the different social posts.
- 12:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, Noche UFC.
- 12:29Sean McAllister: It was held over Mexican Independence Day weekend, and it was it was something that everybody was talking about.
- 12:38Sean McAllister: Everybody was like, oh my gosh, did you see what they did uh at Sphere for this UFC fight?
- 12:45Sean McAllister: It was pretty incredible.
- 12:46Sean McAllister: Not only was the outside of the sphere, you know, lit up with all of the the branding for UFC and the fight and and all that, but the inside was just transformed.
- 12:59Sean McAllister: First of all, we've never seen a fight inside or a live sporting event.
- 13:05Sean McAllister: This was the first.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, well, they had the draft there for the NHL, right?
- 13:09Dayna Roselli: But not an actual match or anything.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: So I mean, this is was really cool to see, but you were saying that you heard Dana White say that was just a one and done.
- 13:19Dayna Roselli: That's not gonna happen again.
- 13:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, I read something um that because of uh I think possibly because of contracts with other venues in town, um, that it may not be coming back to Sphere.
- 13:32Dayna Roselli: Okay, so it's not like a continuous thing.
- 13:33Sean McAllister: Right.
- 13:34Sean McAllister: But even though it's not, I mean it showed off in prime time the capabilities of Sphere and the marriage of live sporting events with the technology that they have over there.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: It was really cool.
- 13:51Dayna Roselli: The way they would put the fighters face up, the stats, it would you know, circle around.
- 13:57Dayna Roselli: Oh it was incredible.
- 13:58Sean McAllister: When the fighters did their walkout, yeah.
- 14:00Sean McAllister: The the I mean they transport they which is what the sphere does.
- 14:04Sean McAllister: It transports you to another place.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: It's so cool.
- 14:08Sean McAllister: The graphics and everything that they had in there were just they were it was mind blowing.
- 14:15Dayna Roselli: It really was.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: You know, we're coming up here um in about one week.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be a year since the sphere opened inside.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: Um, the outside turned on July 4th, but the inside, we were at the the red carpet for that, and gosh, I can't believe it.
- 14:29Dayna Roselli: It was September 29th, I believe it was.
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: So it's coming up, and we've been able to see more and more what the sphere can be used for, what it can do.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: We told you about this new U2 immersive concert film that they just debuted.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: Sean and I were at the opening, and you know, we had a chance to talk with Andrew Schulkind, and he's the head of capture over there.
- 14:54Dayna Roselli: We had a lot of questions for him about how they did this because as we said, Sean, it's so real.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: Oh, I mean, it feels like the band is in front of you.
- 15:04Sean McAllister: I know we've talked about that.
- 15:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, the band, the crowd, the I mean, the audio, everything is just top-notch.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we have a lengthy interview here coming up, about six and a half minutes.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: So if you're interested, um, we're gonna run the whole thing for you now because we found it really interesting.
- 15:19Dayna Roselli: But here's our interview with Andrew.
- 15:21Sean McAllister: Is this something that could have been done in another environment, or would it not translate as well to the screen at Sphere if it wasn't shot inside Sphere using this special camera that was built specifically for Sphere?
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: I mean, that's exactly it.
- 15:39SPEAKER_05: There's no other way to tell that story and to kind of really tell that moment in time as we did in the venue.
- 15:47SPEAKER_05: I think what's particularly unique about that, and and this is different from any other concert film that you've ever seen or will see, is that you're actually hearing the sound mix from that night.
- 15:56SPEAKER_05: So you're not, it's not like you're hearing something that's been mixed or sweetened or perfected like it's like it's an album.
- 16:02SPEAKER_05: You're actually hearing the faithful things that happened in that moment.
- 16:04SPEAKER_05: And so instead of it being this kind of like idealized moment, it's really this is what was important to the band.
- 16:10SPEAKER_05: It really you feel all the little like, you know, personal kind of human moments between the band individually, like interpersonally, between, you know, how they're playing their instruments and different, you know, where they are on the stage, and it's certainly even how the audience reacts at different times in the show.
- 16:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, I loved hearing the audience noise mixed in with the people that were also live sitting in there at the time.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: It was like a combination of both, even made it feel like a live concert.
- 16:36SPEAKER_05: I mean, we sat for probably a week and a half, two weeks in the venue, you know, in the middle of the night doing proofing sessions, whether it was for color or for sweetening the mix or whatever it was, you know, eight or ten of us in the venue alone.
- 16:48SPEAKER_05: And I would often have to look around it just to remind myself that there's nobody else in the venue.
- 16:53SPEAKER_05: It was that impressive.
- 16:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: Now, did you shoot this in one specific night, or did you go different nights, you know, to different shows and kind of compile them together for what you thought was the best experience that showcased the concert like it was live?
- 17:07SPEAKER_05: It's largely, it's three nights, and it's largely one night in particular, which was which was February 24th.
- 17:14SPEAKER_05: And we sort of, and it was interesting how attuned the band was to what night sort of felt different, and oh, that night was was no good.
- 17:21SPEAKER_05: Oh, we could have done this song different.
- 17:23SPEAKER_05: And so there were little bits that they really preferred, and they remembered even after having done 40 shows, oh well, on this night we wanted this, and this we really loved about this particular moment.
- 17:31SPEAKER_05: So it was really these three, uh, these three nights, and really just one of those was sort of performed probably 70% of the show.
- 17:38Sean McAllister: And did the whole band uh contribute to the I guess the editing, the final version of the film that you we now see over its sphere?
- 17:46Sean McAllister: I know the Edge was super involved.
- 17:49SPEAKER_05: Edge was very involved.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: Bono was there, and you know, what was interesting, I think, about the band and their involvement is they really felt like, and yes, they were all involved in various ways.
- 17:59SPEAKER_05: Uh, you know, I what was unique about it is that they so bought into the experience of sitting there and trying to just figure out how to make sense out of what the show was when we were early in the editorial process.
- 18:11SPEAKER_05: The very first kind of like rough edit was very much more of a concert film.
- 18:15SPEAKER_05: We're kind of cutting around because we shot about eight different angles for that show.
- 18:19SPEAKER_05: And we tried over those three nights.
- 18:20SPEAKER_05: One of the reasons why we shot three nights is not just to get some variation, but also because we basically deployed five cameras in different configurations over the course of those nights.
- 18:28SPEAKER_05: And so it allowed us to kind of get additional things, just sort of common in a concert experience.
- 18:33SPEAKER_05: We also shot a rehearsal so we could get closer on the band.
- 18:35SPEAKER_05: And so, you know, that moment of one was something we didn't want to occl the rest of the you know audience's impression of the show.
- 18:42SPEAKER_05: But of course, the band also didn't have a ton of time to be able to do that.
- 18:44SPEAKER_05: So we were really kind of shoehorning ourselves into narrow moments.
- 18:48SPEAKER_05: But the band was so invested in what the experience was going to be.
- 18:52SPEAKER_05: They were so more than I think any other concert film experience where you're sort of telling a more idealized idea.
- 18:59SPEAKER_05: This was a case of like really wanting to faithfully represent what that experience was because it was such a unique moment in time.
- 19:05Dayna Roselli: Well, it's interesting because we interviewed Darren on the opening of the sphere on the carpet there before he went in.
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: And I remember like him just being like, listen, everything went as planned, fingers crossed.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: We think it's great, we think people are gonna love it.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: I mean, so it's been a year where you guys have to get people's reactions.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: And and I mean, as far as as you're concerned, things are going the way that you want them to go, right?
- 19:27SPEAKER_05: I mean, we're definitely figuring out more about the medium.
- 19:29SPEAKER_05: We're understanding more about what people react to.
- 19:32SPEAKER_05: I think one of the things that's most poignant about both the postcard show and this show, as we're finding, with kind of like, you know, recurring performances, is you start to hear the patterns of what people react to, what audiences, because it's such a huge data set.
- 19:45SPEAKER_05: You have, you know, thousands of people in one space at a given time that's so many more than you have in a movie theater.
- 19:50SPEAKER_05: And you're starting to see kind of patterns of how people react.
- 19:52SPEAKER_05: But how do people respond to this line?
- 19:54SPEAKER_05: Who laughs?
- 19:55SPEAKER_05: Who gasps?
- 19:56SPEAKER_05: When does this happen?
- 19:57SPEAKER_05: And it's it's striking how kind of patternized that is.
- 20:00SPEAKER_05: And you can sort of understand a little bit more about like human perception and how people respond to that experience.
- 20:05Sean McAllister: And is this the kind of thing that we can expect from other performances that happen at Sphere?
- 20:12SPEAKER_05: I mean, it would be hard not to.
- 20:14SPEAKER_05: We're still sort of thinking about how we do how we do it, when we do it, when does it make sense?
- 20:18SPEAKER_05: How do we tell that story?
- 20:19SPEAKER_05: How similar, how different.
- 20:20SPEAKER_05: But it certainly feels like something we're interested in exploring further.
- 20:23SPEAKER_05: And I think, you know, the whole purpose of the venue is to take you somewhere.
- 20:27SPEAKER_05: So, you know, where better to take you than uh right back to where you started from.
- 20:32Dayna Roselli: Well, literally before our interview, I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw Billboard put out the highest grossing residencies of all time.
- 20:40Dayna Roselli: And I saw you two and Dead and Company on the list, and I was like, already it's only it's all happened within it hasn't even been a year.
- 20:48unknown: I know, I know.
- 20:49SPEAKER_05: I will say, for the last, I've been involved with this project for five years.
- 20:53SPEAKER_05: And in those early days, just reflecting back on like, so what exactly is it that you do?
- 20:58SPEAKER_05: Well, it's this venue, it's round, it's kind of hard to describe, it's it's super wide angle and it's really high resolution.
- 21:03SPEAKER_05: It's sort of like it's nice to actually see it all coming together.
- 21:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: And as somebody who deals with this technology hands-on, um, how far do you think the surface has been scratched with what is possible?
- 21:17SPEAKER_05: Barely.
- 21:18SPEAKER_05: I really mean that seriously.
- 21:20SPEAKER_05: We're really just even now trying to kind of unpeel how we tell stories.
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: What's the psychology of imaging?
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: How do people respond?
- 21:27SPEAKER_05: Because you're sort of scratching it just people never knew they had.
- 21:30SPEAKER_05: And so it sort of cracks open this rectangle that we're all accustomed to seeing.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: It's incredible.
- 21:35Dayna Roselli: And now, you know, we are Vegas Revealed, so we gotta ask uh, can you tell us what's next?
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: We have rumors of a Wizard of Oz film, all sorts of stuff.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: Anything you can break here on Vegas Revealed?
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 21:49SPEAKER_04: Is it sound not working?
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: I can't tell you that.
- 21:52SPEAKER_04: Come on.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: Did you just pull the corny Kardashian?
- 22:00Sean McAllister: You're very good at that.
- 22:02Sean McAllister: You heard it here first.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: Now that is a teaser.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: It was a nice try.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: You gotta try.
- 22:11Sean McAllister: You gotta try and get information when you can.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: You don't get anywhere unless you try.
- 22:15Dayna Roselli: But did you notice he didn't say no?
- 22:17Sean McAllister: There was not a no.
- 22:19Sean McAllister: You're right.
- 22:19Dayna Roselli: Or it was in part of the part of what when his fake mic went out.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: When his audio cut out, yeah.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: That was great.
- 22:26Sean McAllister: We want to remind you, um, you can look on our Vegas Revealed social media channels uh and see uh some of our footage that we took inside of the sphere for this VU2 film.
- 22:38Sean McAllister: You can also go to our YouTube channel and uh check out our newest episode of the Vegas Revealed TV show and um uh look for this interview because we have some great visuals that go along with that as well.
- 22:52Sean McAllister: We also have some uh great visuals of uh the UFC fight over at Sphere.
- 22:57Dayna Roselli: True.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: And that show posts on this Sunday.
- 23:00Dayna Roselli: So if you're listening on a Thursday, it's not up yet, but that will be the 22nd and on that show alload.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: We we always have it air on Fox Five first, then we put it on YouTube.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk about Garth Brooks.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: We've talked about his show many, many times uh over at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace, one of our favorites, and he announced some final shows for this residency, and that's gonna take place February 21st through March 9th of 2025.
- 23:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, so those are the the weekends that he performs.
- 23:30Sean McAllister: Those are gonna be the final weekends of his residency.
- 23:34Sean McAllister: So uh you've only got a few months left to go and see Garth.
- 23:38Sean McAllister: He really is one of those entertainers where after you're done watching the concert, you're just like he's incredible.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, he's a great person, he's a great entertainer, he's funny, he'll tug at your heartstrings.
- 23:54Sean McAllister: He his show is the total package.
- 23:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he interacts with the crowd really well, makes you feel special, and that's what it's all about, especially when you get a chance to see someone in Las Vegas.
- 24:04Dayna Roselli: So though that's the n the final nine performances for, and and those are the 2025s, but he is returning to the Coliseum uh September 26th through October 13th and December 5th through the 22nd of 2024, coming up here right now uh as well.
- 24:21Dayna Roselli: So he's got a slew of shows left.
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: See if you can get in there and see him before he is uh ending that current residency doesn't mean Garth won't be back.
- 24:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, we hope he will.
- 24:32Sean McAllister: He's come back around at least a couple times.
- 24:35Sean McAllister: So come on, Garth.
- 24:37Sean McAllister: We like you.
- 24:37Sean McAllister: But go see him if uh you haven't yet.
- 24:40Sean McAllister: Um, we also want to let you know Wu Tang Clan is back at the theater at Virgin Hotels.
- 24:46Sean McAllister: Uh, this is the first hip hop residency in Las Vegas.
- 24:50Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 24:51Sean McAllister: So it's a big deal.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: And they sold out right away.
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: They did a bunch of shows.
- 24:55Dayna Roselli: Uh when was it February?
- 24:56Sean McAllister: They started uh like right around Super Bowl.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: Super Bowl, right.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: And then came back for March Madness.
- 25:02Sean McAllister: Right.
- 25:03Sean McAllister: And um, so those were great times to have those shows.
- 25:08Sean McAllister: As a matter of fact, uh we spoke with Rizza, one of the founding members of Wu Tang, and uh we'll play that for you in just a second.
- 25:16Sean McAllister: But he he said he was like, those dates couldn't have been better for us.
- 25:20Sean McAllister: Like that is our crowd, right?
- 25:24Sean McAllister: So he loved it, he loved the energy.
- 25:26Dayna Roselli: He did, and uh they're back September 27th and 28th, and we don't know if after that they may announce more shows because people are loving it.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: Yeah, uh, we hope that they'll announce more shows.
- 25:39Sean McAllister: Um, and you say people are loving it, but the the group is loving it too, and Rizza tells us why.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: You know, GoldSpace has fans that'll come see him, Method Man has fans that'll come see him, Glizzard has fans that'll come see him, and then when you get all of us together and we're performing such an iconic album, such as 36 Chambers, I think that um, you know, it it has a magnetism to it.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: And um, and the and and the fun of it has been, I gotta honestly tell you, the fun has been, it hasn't been our normal concert.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: We've integrated uh actors and dancers and and thanks into it, just a little bit of fun that you don't normally see at a straight hip hop concert.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: So we integrated some good showmanship, and I think the fans appreciated.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: And the full interview again will be in our next TV show, so that'll be on our YouTube.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: But um Rizza, also a popular actor.
- 26:32Sean McAllister: Oh, he's listen, this guy is a man of so many talents.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: He's when I spoke with him, he was actually up in Canada uh filming a new movie.
- 26:44Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 26:45Sean McAllister: Uh he said it's a movie for Universal.
- 26:47Sean McAllister: He couldn't give me any more information than that, though.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: I was like, oh come on, you can't tell me anything.
- 26:52Sean McAllister: He was like, no, he's like, I'm not directing this one, so uh it's not okay if I just like blurt stuff out.
- 26:58Sean McAllister: He's like, I'm just an actor.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:00Sean McAllister: So yeah, he is, he's a director, he's an actor, he's a performer, a rapper, a writer, uh composer.
- 27:10Sean McAllister: He actually just came out with uh an all classical album with no lyrics, straight up classical music.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: And you know, I talked to him about that too, and I said, for a guy of so many talents, um, do you have to shut off your other talents when you're working on a project like this classical album?
- 27:34Sean McAllister: And he said, Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:36Sean McAllister: I shut everything else down and just focus on that piece of work that uh I'm involved with at that time.
- 27:43Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 27:44Sean McAllister: And he said, as soon as that work is done, he's ready to move on and tap into one of his other talents.
- 27:50Sean McAllister: But really fascinating guy.
- 27:52Sean McAllister: We had a a pretty long uh conversation, so I'm sure we'll be bringing you more of that uh down the line here on Vegas Revealed as well.
- 28:01Dayna Roselli: Okay, and um again, the shows are September 27th and 28th, and I think that shows because they're so busy, all of them doing other things.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: That's why they're doing these like two, two, two, you know, here and there sprinkled in shows.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: They don't have time because they're so busy with other projects.
- 28:14Sean McAllister: And i they're all like that, they all have their individual, you know, interests and talents outside of the group.
- 28:21Sean McAllister: So it is, it's hard to get them all together, but they've they've found these dates and hopefully we'll have Wu Tang back here in Las Vegas for many more dates to come.
- 28:30Sean McAllister: But again, September 27th and 28th over at the theater at Virgin Hotel.
- 28:35Dayna Roselli: Well, sticking with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, um, this hotel has been named EDC Hotel for the year when it comes to EDC Las Vegas 2025, which means that's where they're having the Hotel EDC this year, and it's May 16th through May 19th.
- 28:51Dayna Roselli: You may remember in the past two years it was Resorts World.
- 28:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, so uh the festivities have now moved, and I say festivities because when Hotel EDC takes over a property, they uh bring in uh DJs, they do extra, you know, DJ sets, they have pool parties, they have all these activations across the property that kind of extend that entire EDC experience to the place where you'd end up going back to stay.
- 29:21Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 29:21Dayna Roselli: And you know, people are coming and going and all that kind of thing.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: So packages are available uh to previous hotel EDC purchasers on Wednesday, September 11th.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: So they're on sale now, basically.
- 29:33Dayna Roselli: Um, obviously they're already on sale, and um, they have special loyalty pricing for you if you have like purchased a package in the past.
- 29:41Dayna Roselli: But um, hotel EDC again at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas this upcoming year for the festival.
- 29:49Dayna Roselli: And again, it's May 16th to the 19th.
- 29:52Dayna Roselli: So look that up and get all your info.
- 29:55Dayna Roselli: Um, it's switching locations.
- 29:57Sean McAllister: All right, let's do some tips.
- 30:03Sean McAllister: So we mentioned at the top of the episode that we do have fall, you know, coming in as the calendar says on the 22nd.
- 30:12Sean McAllister: After fall, that means winter's coming.
- 30:14unknown: Yeah.
- 30:14Sean McAllister: And when winter is here, what do you do with all the pool parties in Las Vegas?
- 30:20Sean McAllister: You can't pick the pool up and bring it indoors, but what you can do is build a big dome over it.
- 30:25Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:26Dayna Roselli: And that's what Marquee Day Club is doing again.
- 30:28Dayna Roselli: The Marquee Day Club dome is returning October 12th.
- 30:33Dayna Roselli: That extends the pool party season through fall and winter.
- 30:37Dayna Roselli: We love this, and so we wanted to remind you that it's happening again.
- 30:41Dayna Roselli: Uh, it launches the 12th, as I said, and what they do over there, like you said, is they put the dome in and they make it like a 90-degree water temperature.
- 30:52Sean McAllister: It's like a big greenhouse, right?
- 30:54Sean McAllister: Essentially.
- 30:55Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and so you can swim.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: I'm just reading a little bit more about it.
- 30:58Dayna Roselli: You can eat poolside, they got a menu, they got cabana experiences, bottle service parades.
- 31:04Dayna Roselli: Basically the same thing that happens at a day club in the summer.
- 31:07Sean McAllister: Yes, I think it was one of the first couple years that uh the Marquee Dome made its appearance on the strip.
- 31:16Sean McAllister: I went over there and had quite the time.
- 31:19Sean McAllister: Oh it was it was fun several years ago, but it was fun.
- 31:25Dayna Roselli: I've never been, so you it actually feels like summer in there?
- 31:28Sean McAllister: Oh, it does.
- 31:29Sean McAllister: The what the water itself is 90 degrees, and then the air temperature is warm too.
- 31:35Sean McAllister: So it feels like, you know, and especially on a sunny winter day here, right?
- 31:40Sean McAllister: We still have blue skies and sun all the time.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: Feels like summer, isn't that a song?
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: Feels like summer.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, love it.
- 31:47Sean McAllister: Uh, but it is.
- 31:48Sean McAllister: It's great.
- 31:50Sean McAllister: So the uh Marquee Day Club dome season debuts Saturday, October 12th.
- 31:56Dayna Roselli: And that's at the cosmopolitan and FYI.
- 31:58Dayna Roselli: I think it's so interesting that they have the pool party and then they have the ice rink during winter.
- 32:03Dayna Roselli: Oh, they do.
- 32:03Dayna Roselli: Both of these are the city.
- 32:04Sean McAllister: So it's like you can go ice skating and then you can go to the fire and ice experience at the cosmopolitan.
- 32:10Dayna Roselli: Love it.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: Hey, I went up to Lee Canyon.
- 32:13Dayna Roselli: Um, you always go up there.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: I uh don't go often.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: Um, and I've actually okay, I go to Mount Charleston.
- 32:20Dayna Roselli: Let me rephrase that.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: I've been to Mount Charleston many times, but I don't go to the Lee Canyon side.
- 32:25Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:26Dayna Roselli: And it's a different turn.
- 32:27Sean McAllister: It's over the mountain.
- 32:28Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 32:29Sean McAllister: The other side of the mountain.
- 32:30Dayna Roselli: And the reason I don't go is because I'm not a skier, I'm not a snowboarder, it's not my thing.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: However, um, it was my birthday weekend, and my friend and I were uh a couple friends, actually, we were supposed to go uh paddle boarding, and then the wind kicked up, and we thought let's not, because we were gonna do the Emerald Cove.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: We thought, let's not do that because we don't want any gusty winds, you know, makes paddleboarding.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: It can be sketchy.
- 32:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 32:51Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we went up to Lee Canyon and I just I thought I would use this as a tip because you and I often talk about the chairlift ride that they have up there, and that's basically the chairlift that they use for ski season.
- 33:02Dayna Roselli: Uh on the off season, you can take it and you know, just go by the trees and watch the um, because like this time of year, the leaves start to change, which is, you know, we don't get that in Las Vegas often.
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: So if you want a different experience, we went up there, it was 60 degrees.
- 33:18Dayna Roselli: Nice sunny, it was beautiful, it was busy.
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: We had lunch on the the restaurant patio there.
- 33:23Dayna Roselli: We sat there for like two hours, but we did go on the chairlift, and I wanted to say, if you ever had questions about it, that it was 24 bucks, um, which, you know, is a little pricey.
- 33:34Dayna Roselli: However, the good news is it wasn't just like a swing around, like it took like a good half hour that you actually, you know, go up the mountain, it turns around, you go down.
- 33:44Dayna Roselli: So I feel like it was worth it because it was really relaxing.
- 33:48Dayna Roselli: I didn't feel like, oh, I got on, bad, and then I'm getting off again.
- 33:52Sean McAllister: Right.
- 33:53Sean McAllister: It is, it's a chunk of time.
- 33:54Sean McAllister: And if you want to, you can get off of the lift uh at the top of the mountain too.
- 34:00Sean McAllister: And there's some hiking trails up there.
- 34:02Sean McAllister: Oh so you can like spend some time up at the top of the mountain hanging out.
- 34:06Dayna Roselli: Okay, I didn't know that.
- 34:08Sean McAllister: And then get back on to come down.
- 34:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 34:10Sean McAllister: Were there any mountain bikers?
- 34:12Dayna Roselli: They were below us, yes.
- 34:14Sean McAllister: Did you see them putting their bikes on the chairlift?
- 34:17Dayna Roselli: I did.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: It's pretty cool.
- 34:18Dayna Roselli: It is cool.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they put the bikes right there, and then I saw the different mountain biking trails.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: So I mean, a lot going on up there.
- 34:26Sean McAllister: There is.
- 34:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I loved it.
- 34:28Dayna Roselli: I thought it was really, really cool.
- 34:29Dayna Roselli: There's a coffee shop down there.
- 34:30Dayna Roselli: I got a coffee for the ride home.
- 34:32Dayna Roselli: Um, so it just it was great.
- 34:34Dayna Roselli: Great experience.
- 34:35Dayna Roselli: People have their dogs up there, like you've talked about before, and and just wanted to let people know that.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: I mean, because I feel like, you know, sometimes when you hear$24, you're like, eh.
- 34:43Dayna Roselli: But then I was like, well, we were on there, we had a long conversation, we were looking out.
- 34:47Dayna Roselli: I was like, and it was so quiet.
- 34:49Sean McAllister: Oh, it's that it wasn't that amazing.
- 34:51Dayna Roselli: It was relaxing.
- 34:52Sean McAllister: And you can hear the breeze as it goes through the leaves.
- 34:56Sean McAllister: I guess as the leaves start falling, you don't hear it quite as much, but it does the flutter of the leaves that you don't hear, you know, in a more uh populous setting.
- 35:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 35:09Dayna Roselli: Okay, what was the deal with people throwing their bras on the trees, though?
- 35:13Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 35:14Sean McAllister: I was so annoyed.
- 35:16Sean McAllister: Well, they're all over.
- 35:17Dayna Roselli: They're all over.
- 35:18Dayna Roselli: And then to me, that kind of ruined it.
- 35:19Dayna Roselli: It made me mad.
- 35:20Dayna Roselli: And I understand that they can't go and clean those up every day because you'd have to like climb up the tree.
- 35:25Dayna Roselli: I don't know, but I mean beads and bras.
- 35:28Dayna Roselli: I'm like, come on, like but it's like a skiing thing.
- 35:31Sean McAllister: Oh, is it like I've I mean it just about every uh ski resort that I've been to, there have been bras or something hanging in the trees.
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: Okay, yeah.
- 35:41Dayna Roselli: Well that people like bring their bra or bring an extra and throw it on the tree, which made me sad.
- 35:47Dayna Roselli: I didn't like it.
- 35:48Dayna Roselli: Anyway, keep your bra to yourself, keep your beads to yourself.
- 35:53Dayna Roselli: So go to New Orleans.
- 35:54Sean McAllister: Do you want to know uh the story behind the bras in the trees?
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: You just googled it.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Okay, go.
- 35:59Sean McAllister: I did.
- 36:00Sean McAllister: So it was in the early 70s, and women were being hired alongside men to work as ski patrol, and one disgruntled patrolman was unhappy with this turn of events and demonstrated his stance by throwing a woman's bra into a tree.
- 36:17Dayna Roselli: But wait, why was he mad?
- 36:19Sean McAllister: Because women were being hired.
- 36:21Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 36:23Sean McAllister: Oh, I feel like that's I feel like we shouldn't perpetuate this.
- 36:27Dayna Roselli: This was the 1970s.
- 36:29Sean McAllister: This was in the 70s.
- 36:30Dayna Roselli: Well, I guess we're taking a stand that we're wait, no, wait, oh wait, so wait.
- 36:33Dayna Roselli: He's not mad that they hadn't hired women before.
- 36:37Dayna Roselli: He's mad that they hired women to begin with.
- 36:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, he he was unhappy with the turn of events of women being hired as ski patrol members.
- 36:45Sean McAllister: So, well, let's let's reverse this.
- 36:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the clean up the bras, don't throw your bra.
- 36:51Dayna Roselli: We don't like that.
- 36:52Dayna Roselli: See, you you probably didn't even know what that was for.
- 36:55Dayna Roselli: Although these days, I don't know, we're kind of going back to that time.
- 36:58Dayna Roselli: So a lot going on.
