Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So I want to share something that is really powerful and encouraging coming out of Nehemiah, and this is in Nehemiah 9, verses 18 through 24.
- 0:13Speaker 1: And I thought you know this is so on time for a lot of us who are in a season where we're asking God for help, we're asking for direction and guidance.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Nehemiah starts off with the report.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Nehemiah makes a prayer.
- 0:29Speaker 1: He goes to inspect Jerusalem's walls.
- 0:31Speaker 1: You know he helps to rebuild the walls and you can go back and read the full story When we come by the time we come to Nehemiah 9, the wall has been rebuilt.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Ezra read the law.
- 0:46Speaker 1: There's a feast of booths that's been celebrated.
- 0:51Speaker 1: The people of Israel started to confess their sins and iniquities, and so they went into a fast and a purification period, and it struck me that there's a part of the prayer in verse 18 where it says even when they made for themselves.
- 1:05Speaker 1: This is how great God is, even when they made for themselves.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So think about it as us a golden calf and said this is your God, who brought you up out of Egypt and had committed great blasphemies.
- 1:17Speaker 1: You are Lord.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You and your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way, did not depart from them by day.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Now the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way in which they should go.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Like, even when you know the Lord has brought us out of some things, even when we've set up our own mini gods, our small G's, you know the God, because of his great mercy, did not forsake us.
- 1:45Speaker 1: He didn't just leave us in the wilderness, he sent a pillar of cloud to lead them.
- 1:50Speaker 1: He sent a way out, a pillar of fire by night to light us the way, always showing us the way out.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Verse 20 says you gave your good spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manner from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst.
- 2:07Speaker 1: There's so much prophetic things happening right here in Nehemiah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You know the good spirit, the Holy Spirit instructing and not withholding manna, god's word right, the food to instruct us.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And he did not.
- 2:22Speaker 1: he did not.
- 2:22Speaker 1: He gave us water for our thirst.
- 2:24Speaker 1: 40 years you sustain them in the wilderness and you lack nothing.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And a lot of you have been sustained for 40 years, maybe you've been sustained for 10 or 12, but you lack nothing.
- 2:37Speaker 1: The Lord always provide.
- 2:38Speaker 1: The Lord always gave you, gave you a way out.
- 2:40Speaker 1: When you come down into.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Verse 23 talks about multiplying their children as stars of heaven and bringing you into a land that he gave you.
- 2:50Speaker 1: he gave you for you to possess.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Some of you are working on promises that you know maybe you don't see it in your lifetime, but you're setting up promises so that your descendants can be blessed.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So I just want to encourage you go into Nehemiah verse.
- 3:06Speaker 1: This again.
- 3:07Speaker 1: This is Nehemiah 9, verses 18 through 24.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And it's such a powerful reminder of how God has been so merciful to us, regardless of what it seems like.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Sometimes it seems like he's not there, sometimes it you know.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You're like what is happening, i can't see my way out.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I can't see my way out.
- 3:29Speaker 1: But just be encouraged to know that even in the wilderness, god has taken care of you.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Even in that situation right now in your job, even that situation with your family, with your kids, with your spouse, with your health, with your finances, he is still taking care of you.
- 3:44Speaker 1: He is still there.
- 3:46Speaker 1: He is consistent.
- 3:48Speaker 1: God is not a liar.
- 3:50Speaker 1: God is not man that he might lie or disappoint you.
- 3:53Speaker 1: So I urge you to go back into the word and just be encouraged in the same way, y'all.
- 3:58Speaker 1: The same way that he delivered the Israelites, the same way he's delivering you.
- 4:04Speaker 1: There's a verse in here I'm going to leave you with.
- 4:08Speaker 1: There's a prayer that says you are the Lord, you alone.
- 4:11Speaker 1: You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens with all their hosts, the earth and all that is in it, and we worship him, oh Lord.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So claim it today.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Claim it today.
- 4:24Speaker 1: The Lord has saved me, the Lord is delivering me, the Lord is guiding me.
- 4:28Speaker 1: All things are working together for my good, amen.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Amen.
