- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm Rachel Uchitel. I wanted to start off by thanking
- 1:02Speaker 1: everybody for listening and tuning in every week to our podcast.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We've hit over 2 million downloads in the short time
- 1:10Speaker 1: we've been doing this, and I really appreciate your support.
- 1:13Speaker 1: If you could go and give us five stars and
- 1:16Speaker 1: give us a review, that would be even more special
- 1:19Speaker 1: to me. We love hearing what you have to say.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We love reading it. We read everyone and it really
- 1:24Speaker 1: helps us out. So I wanted again to say thank
- 1:27Speaker 1: you so much for your continued support. You are why
- 1:30Speaker 1: we do this. So for today's episode, if you're a
- 1:33Speaker 1: Bravo fan like I am, you're gonna love it. We
- 1:35Speaker 1: have Toomey from Below Deck Med. What I love about
- 1:38Speaker 1: Below Deck franchise is that unlike all the other reality shows,
- 1:41Speaker 1: this cast actually is working while shooting the season. And
- 1:44Speaker 1: I don't mean like the way the cast of Vanderpump works.
- 1:48Speaker 1: These yachties are actually living and breathing their job aboard
- 1:52Speaker 1: a boat with very particular and wealthy clientele that expect
- 1:55Speaker 1: five-star service no matter what drama they might have going on.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And the cameras are there to just catch all of it.
- 2:01Speaker 1: As chief stew, Tumi stays out of the fray most
- 2:04Speaker 1: of the time. So we were excited to get to
- 2:06Speaker 1: know her better. She was born in South Africa and
- 2:08Speaker 1: grew up with a large blended family. She manifested her
- 2:11Speaker 1: way into the yachting industry with the help of some
- 2:13Speaker 1: quarantine creativity and her Instagram feed. I think that story
- 2:16Speaker 1: is really going to surprise you. It's such a great story.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And she's actually very inspirational the way she does it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: She gives us the inside scoop on the reality of
- 2:24Speaker 1: yachting versus the reality of yachting on TV. If you're
- 2:28Speaker 1: interested in working in the industry or if you're interested
- 2:30Speaker 1: in taking that first yacht vacation, you're going to want
- 2:33Speaker 1: to listen up. Tumi is a no bullshit kind of girl,
- 2:36Speaker 1: which I love. So get ready for some rumors to
- 2:38Speaker 1: be cleared up and maybe some new ones to be started.
- 3:13Speaker 1: To me, it's so exciting to have you here on Misunderstood.
- 3:16Speaker 1: How are you today?
- 3:18Speaker 2: I'm great. How are you?
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm great. So where are you in the world right now?
- 3:23Speaker 2: I'm currently in New York City, and it's freezing. Oh, yes,
- 3:29Speaker 2: it is.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Well, I'm in Florida, so it's a little warmer, but
- 3:32Speaker 1: you're not in the Mediterranean somewhere on a yacht, correct?
- 3:36Speaker 2: No, no, no, no. And it's not the season yet,
- 3:39Speaker 2: so we're not ready to go yet.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Got it. Okay. So it's funny because we have a
- 3:44Speaker 1: mutual connection that kind of helped me get you on
- 3:48Speaker 1: this show. I mean, obviously everyone knows who you are
- 3:51Speaker 1: and I knew who you were, but we share someone
- 3:55Speaker 1: in common who is an astrologist. I was just curious,
- 3:58Speaker 1: do you believe in astrology? Do you use that to
- 4:02Speaker 1: sort of help you make decisions or you're just, we're
- 4:04Speaker 1: having fun listening, having fun? Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Oh, my God. I totally believe in astrology. And Amy
- 4:10Speaker 3: was actually one of the first people to like really
- 4:13Speaker 3: get me into it. And every year I always get
- 4:15Speaker 3: a reading from her because I'm like, OK, we can conquer.
- 4:18Speaker 2: We can do that. It really helps, you know.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I was curious if you think it's it's been something
- 4:24Speaker 1: where you've seen actual tangible things that she's predicted.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, in the moment when she
- 4:31Speaker 2: reads it, sometimes I'm like, oh, Amy, I really hope
- 4:34Speaker 2: it's not true. I don't know if I believe that.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And then by the end of the year, I'm like, yep,
- 4:38Speaker 2: Amy called it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:40Speaker 4: All right.
- 4:44Speaker 1: That's very interesting.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I just started having her do my readings and I'm
- 4:47Speaker 1: not sure if I fully believe in it yet, but
- 4:50Speaker 1: I'm going to see where it takes me, but it
- 4:51Speaker 1: is very interesting. That whole thing.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It's so interesting.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So I wanted to talk about who to me
- 4:59Speaker 1: is before the girl that we know on the screen.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I know you were born in South Africa. Can you
- 5:04Speaker 1: talk a little bit about your childhood?
- 5:06Speaker 4: Okay.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was born.
- 5:08Speaker 3: In Johannesburg, South Africa, which is probably like our New
- 5:12Speaker 3: York of Africa. I grew up there my whole life,
- 5:16Speaker 3: stayed in the same house, the same area, went to
- 5:19Speaker 3: one school, have a group of friends that I've had
- 5:22Speaker 3: for years and years and years.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So we had a pretty good life back there.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Grew up with a garden, grew up with animals, you know, so.
- 5:35Speaker 2: It was a really good life.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And do you have a, do you come from a
- 5:38Speaker 1: big family? I do.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I do come from a very blended family as well.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So I've got like six siblings, two stepbrothers, one half sister,
- 5:48Speaker 3: one adopted sister.
- 5:49Speaker 2: It's a lot.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Wow.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:52Speaker 1: And are you still close to everybody? Are they still there?
- 5:54Speaker 1: Did they move to America also?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I've got two brothers that are here in America
- 6:00Speaker 3: and my sisters are back in South Africa.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 1: OK, so I know you've spoken a little bit in
- 6:05Speaker 1: a confessional about something that a tragedy that happened when
- 6:09Speaker 1: you were younger. Can you talk about what it's like
- 6:12Speaker 1: to lose your your father?
- 6:16Speaker 3: I guess at that age, it was super confusing because
- 6:19Speaker 3: it was so sudden.
- 6:20Speaker 2: It wasn't something that I think any of us expected.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And it's just crazy because sometimes with death, like everything
- 6:28Speaker 3: just changes overnight.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And so it was pretty hard.
- 6:32Speaker 3: In the beginning, but eventually, you know, life goes on
- 6:35Speaker 3: and you kind of get used to the new normal.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But at first, it definitely was a shock to every
- 6:41Speaker 3: single one of us, including the community.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Right. Well, you, and you found out, it sounded like
- 6:46Speaker 1: you were about to have a dance performance, some sort
- 6:49Speaker 1: of performance, right?
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah. So I was actually on that topic.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I was, I was a lead, my first lead in
- 6:58Speaker 3: my ballet concert. So without me, it wasn't really a show.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And, you know, we were really young. I think we
- 7:06Speaker 2: were like seven, eight.
- 7:07Speaker 3: It's not like they have like someone on the side
- 7:10Speaker 3: that can fill in for you.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:12Speaker 1: There wasn't an understudy.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:15Speaker 3: So it was a bit of a, you know, it
- 7:16Speaker 3: would have been, it just, they wouldn't be a show.
- 7:19Speaker 3: And I would remember just being so excited. It was my,
- 7:23Speaker 3: you know, my first time and I loved ballet. I
- 7:26Speaker 3: took it so seriously. So yeah, that day was my
- 7:30Speaker 3: first show. Wow.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And for people that don't know what we're talking about,
- 7:35Speaker 1: can you explain what happened to your father? Because it
- 7:37Speaker 1: was sudden and it was a complete tragedy.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yeah, so my dad was murdered. It was an apparent hijacking.
- 7:47Speaker 3: And he ended up in hospital for.
- 7:49Speaker 2: A couple of days.
- 7:50Speaker 3: But when they decided to pull the plug, that night
- 7:54Speaker 3: was the night that I had to go perform my
- 7:58Speaker 3: ballet concert.
- 7:59Speaker 2: So, I mean, you know, I didn't have to do it.
- 8:02Speaker 3: But at the same time, I was like, this is
- 8:04Speaker 3: something that I have always wanted. wanted and I was
- 8:07Speaker 3: so excited about it and I also didn't want to
- 8:09Speaker 3: let people down and yeah so I ended up dancing
- 8:14Speaker 3: but you know dancing at the same time as therapy
- 8:16Speaker 3: now that I'm a faculty.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah probably wasn't the worst thing to do.
- 8:22Speaker 1: No it was probably you know took your mind off
- 8:24Speaker 1: of it and it made you feel like you were
- 8:26Speaker 1: doing something for you did your family show up for
- 8:29Speaker 1: you or were they at the hospital like what what
- 8:32Speaker 1: happened no they were.
- 8:33Speaker 3: At home I mean they had to be at home
- 8:35Speaker 3: yeah Yeah.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I mean, I had more than one show.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Got it.
- 8:42Speaker 2: So, you know, the other shows they were there.
- 8:44Speaker 1: How do you think that affected you? I mean, listen,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm somebody who my father also died when I was 15.
- 8:53Speaker 1: My headmaster at my boarding school had to tell me,
- 8:56Speaker 1: you are much younger, but I know what that is
- 8:59Speaker 1: like to lose somebody. It was a very sudden, tragic,
- 9:02Speaker 1: thing that happened. So to hear something like that when
- 9:05Speaker 1: it's completely unexpected as a child, for me, I know
- 9:08Speaker 1: that that affected me. It affected my relationship with men
- 9:10Speaker 1: going forward. It really affected me. So I'm curious how
- 9:17Speaker 1: that affected you.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it completely changed me forever.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I truly believe if you lose a parent at any age,
- 9:24Speaker 3: there's a part of you that completely changes.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And it's almost like you lose a part of yourself.
- 9:30Speaker 3: And I think And I didn't realize the effect until
- 9:33Speaker 3: I was about 18 when I left home. Because I
- 9:36Speaker 3: left home at 18 and went and lived on my own.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I went to another city. I started a whole, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 3: I went to college.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I started a new life. And I was like, holy crap. Like,
- 9:44Speaker 2: I actually do need.
- 9:46Speaker 3: My dad now because now I'm meeting boys. It was
- 9:48Speaker 3: easier not to, like, entertain the men thing in high school.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And I was like, I don't know what to do.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I don't know to, like.
- 9:56Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 9:59Speaker 5: for it?
- 9:59Speaker 2: This.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Exclusive place that dad has connections with they've more cars
- 10:03Speaker 4: for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 10:05Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch what's it called.
- 10:07Speaker 4: It's Dune ADL where Dune ADL there's an accent on
- 10:13Speaker 4: the e do you mean yes I got it on
- 10:16Speaker 4: Dune Deal cars lift Please.
- 10:19Speaker 5: You're going past Kimmage?
- 10:20Speaker 6: Oh, Kimmage.
- 10:21Speaker 2: No.
- 10:22Speaker 6: Done deal cars.
- 10:23Speaker 7: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Decipher between if a guy's being serious, if they're being truthful,
- 10:29Speaker 3: if they're genuine, if they're not, if they really love me,
- 10:32Speaker 3: if they don't, because.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I was like robbed of that experience.
- 10:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 2: So it definitely changes you. Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And it's, you know, that relationship, especially as a young girl,
- 10:42Speaker 1: having a father and losing him, It's so terrible because
- 10:45Speaker 1: in my opinion, you know, that's the one man you
- 10:48Speaker 1: learn what unconditional love is from someone of the opposite sex.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And when you don't grow up with that, I think
- 10:53Speaker 1: it's really hard to learn what that is and to
- 10:56Speaker 1: decipher and kind of know your way. So for me,
- 10:59Speaker 1: it's been something that was, it's always been hard to
- 11:02Speaker 1: figure out.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely. Tons of therapy.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. So, all right. So, so what got
- 11:09Speaker 1: you to the place where you decided you wanted to
- 11:11Speaker 1: go into yachting? Like, did you like boats? Did you
- 11:14Speaker 1: like sailing?
- 11:14Speaker 3: I was just tired of like the nine to five
- 11:20Speaker 3: corporate jobs.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Living.
- 11:22Speaker 3: I was so sick and tired of it. I remember I,
- 11:25Speaker 3: you know, I finished my internship. I worked at a
- 11:27Speaker 3: photographic agency and it was in an environment that was
- 11:30Speaker 3: aligned with like my interests. And I still wasn't happy.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Then I moved into the restaurant business and did social
- 11:36Speaker 3: media management. And I just couldn't stand the fact that
- 11:39Speaker 3: I have to wake up at the same time, go
- 11:41Speaker 3: home at the same time and do the same thing
- 11:44Speaker 3: week after week.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Like I just, where were you living now?
- 11:48Speaker 2: In Cape Town.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Okay. So you were still there.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah. I was still in South Africa.
- 11:53Speaker 3: And I mean, Cape Town is one of the most
- 11:55Speaker 3: creative cities in South Africa. And I was like, if
- 11:58Speaker 3: I'm not happy here, then, I mean.
- 12:02Speaker 2: We have to figure something out.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And then I was in the office one day and
- 12:07Speaker 3: one of my colleague's cousin came in and she's like,
- 12:09Speaker 3: I work in yachting. And I had no idea what
- 12:10Speaker 3: it was. And it just, the seed was planted from there.
- 12:15Speaker 1: So how did you get your first job? What did
- 12:17Speaker 1: you do?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Well, I was stuck in quarantine and at home. And
- 12:26Speaker 3: I just decided, I was so frustrated because, you know,
- 12:29Speaker 3: we couldn't get work and they weren't flying people out
- 12:31Speaker 3: of South Africa.
- 12:32Speaker 2: So I just decided.
- 12:33Speaker 3: To do what stews do on yachts and document it
- 12:37Speaker 3: and kind of train myself. So I didn't even know
- 12:40Speaker 3: how to fold like a fitted sheet. So then I'd
- 12:42Speaker 3: do like little fitted sheet folds and then just put
- 12:44Speaker 3: it on Instagram. I don't know how to fold napkins.
- 12:47Speaker 3: So then I started folding napkins. I started training myself
- 12:50Speaker 3: how to iron sheets, like super good, how to make beds.
- 12:54Speaker 3: And I just literally documented that and put it all
- 12:56Speaker 3: on Instagram. And it just got traction. And someone picked
- 13:00Speaker 3: me up and was.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Like, yo, you need to come.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 13:03Speaker 1: This is during COVID and you are home ironing sheets
- 13:06Speaker 1: and folding your bed and putting it on Instagram?
- 13:08Speaker 5: 100%.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 13:12Speaker 1: That's like, you know, that old, you know, what they say, like,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know, if you build it, it will come or whatever.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Like you couldn't get out and get the job. So
- 13:21Speaker 1: you like created it in your home and it came
- 13:23Speaker 1: to you. I think that's amazing.
- 13:25Speaker 3: I kind of just loved it. I guess that's like manifesting.
- 13:28Speaker 3: You know, some people say you manifest, but you have
- 13:30Speaker 3: to generate manifesting. And I was just generating that energy.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Like I want this. It's not here, but let me
- 13:35Speaker 3: just become that thing that I want.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And would you read books or watch other videos about
- 13:41Speaker 1: what you were supposed to do? How'd you know how
- 13:43Speaker 1: to fold corners on the bed?
- 13:46Speaker 2: YouTube, YouTube, YouTube, YouTube. Everything you need is on YouTube.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Support for today's episode comes from OneSkin. We all know
- 13:56Speaker 1: New Year's is synonymous with big health resolutions, and I've

- 14:02Speaker 1: I'm not changing in 2024? My skin routine with OneSkin.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I started this last year and I have never had

- 14:59Speaker 1: So for Christmas, I sent my mother who's 78, the
- 15:03Speaker 1: travel pack, because in the travel pack, it comes with
- 15:05Speaker 1: four different products, the face wash, a body lotion, the
- 15:09Speaker 1: face lotion, and also the eye cream, the face cream
- 15:14Speaker 1: and the eye cream. And I'm not kidding. She called
- 15:17Speaker 1: me the other day and told me that she is
- 15:19Speaker 1: going to be ordering the full size bottles because she
- 15:22Speaker 1: loves it so much. And people have actually commented on
- 15:25Speaker 1: her skin. And again, guys, she's 78. I've had a
- 15:27Speaker 1: couple of DMs from people who have told me that
- 15:29Speaker 1: they've bought the product. They will not go back to
- 15:32Speaker 1: anything else. They love it. They're so excited. And I
- 15:35Speaker 1: keep renewing my orders. All the products are great. I
- 15:39Speaker 1: love the face wash. The body lotion is great. It's
- 15:42Speaker 1: not sticky. There's no fragrance. And it just makes your
- 15:45Speaker 1: skin turn from alligator skin to like this regular supple skin.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I'm not kidding you guys. You really have to try this.
- 15:52Speaker 1: One Skin is the world's first skin longevity company by

- 16:18Speaker 1: New year, healthier skin. That's one skin. We've all made
- 16:22Speaker 1: our resolutions for the new year, but I wonder how

- 17:46Speaker 1: great thing about it is that my daughter who had
- 17:49Speaker 1: heard about these products stole every item I got and
- 17:53Speaker 1: is using them every day and told me I have
- 17:55Speaker 1: to order my own, which is hysterical. Lume Starter Pack

- 18:25Speaker 5: That's amazing.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Okay, so tell me about the first time you had
- 18:27Speaker 1: a tangible, real job in the industry. How did you
- 18:30Speaker 1: get it? What was the phone call like? Where did
- 18:32Speaker 1: you go?
- 18:35Speaker 3: So I found her. So she found me on Instagram.
- 18:37Speaker 3: And then we had a phone call. And she said,
- 18:39Speaker 3: I'm on this boat. And we're happy to bring on
- 18:41Speaker 3: a fourth stew. And also because of my social media background,
- 18:44Speaker 3: the boat needed social media expertise. And they were like,
- 18:48Speaker 3: you're a perfect fit. So would you like to come?
- 18:50Speaker 3: And I was like, of course I would.
- 18:52Speaker 2: So I actually started my yachting career in West Palm Beach, Florida.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Okay. Amazing.
- 18:57Speaker 5: That's where I am.
- 18:58Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Yeah. And it was for a private... um you know
- 19:05Speaker 1: rich dude or it was like for a yacht that
- 19:07Speaker 1: changed over different uh uh guests yeah i know.
- 19:12Speaker 3: It was a private boat it was private charter but mainly.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Private okay okay and so and that's where you got
- 19:19Speaker 1: your real training and that's where i got the real
- 19:21Speaker 1: training and how long was it before you.
- 19:24Speaker 5: Were the car is beautiful where did you end up
- 19:27Speaker 5: going for it.
- 19:27Speaker 4: This exclusive place that data's connections with they have more
- 19:31Speaker 4: cars for more dealerships than, like, anywhere else.
- 19:33Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 19:35Speaker 6: It's Dune-A-D-L.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Where?
- 19:39Speaker 6: Dune-A-D-L. There's an accent on the E.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Done Deal Cars.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Lift, please.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Are you going past Kimmage?
- 19:48Speaker 2: Oh, Kimmage.
- 19:49Speaker 4: No.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Done Deal Cars.
- 19:51Speaker 7: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 19:54Speaker 3: By the show oh i was like six months in
- 19:58Speaker 3: five five five and a half months in i was
- 20:01Speaker 3: just finishing off my training because normally it takes six
- 20:05Speaker 3: months in total to go from like green to junior
- 20:09Speaker 3: stew so it's just finishing um and that's when they
- 20:13Speaker 3: contacted me.
- 20:14Speaker 1: And were you living, I mean, listen, I'm in Palm
- 20:17Speaker 1: Beach myself. I know a lot of guys who have yachts.
- 20:20Speaker 1: They're not even here half the time. So I'm curious,
- 20:22Speaker 1: were you living on the boat and it was a
- 20:24Speaker 1: working boat and you guys were going out at sea
- 20:27Speaker 1: or like you were living in a hotel or something
- 20:29Speaker 1: and coming in daily?
- 20:32Speaker 2: No, so we were living on the boat.
- 20:33Speaker 3: We were, yeah, he didn't come too often, but we
- 20:37Speaker 3: were living on the boat.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Okay, wow. And when they're not there, are you still
- 20:41Speaker 1: working all the time or is it just like a free-for-all?
- 20:45Speaker 2: No, it's still nine to five, except you have your
- 20:47Speaker 2: evenings off.
- 20:48Speaker 5: Right.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Okay. So did you apply? Had you watched Below Deck
- 20:53Speaker 1: before you even got on the show?
- 20:55Speaker 2: Did you apply?
- 20:56Speaker 1: Did someone contact you? Tell me how it happened.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:59Speaker 3: So I had watched, I think, one or two or
- 21:03Speaker 3: three episodes.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I knew of it.
- 21:05Speaker 3: So then when they contacted me, I was very much
- 21:10Speaker 3: aware of it.
- 21:10Speaker 2: They actually contacted me twice.
- 21:11Speaker 5: I think.
- 21:12Speaker 3: And then the one time I was like, nah, I'm
- 21:14Speaker 3: not ready.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And was that also because of your social media that
- 21:17Speaker 1: they contacted you? How did they find you?
- 21:18Speaker 2: Well, they found me from my social media page.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Wow.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I mean, how many followers did you have? That's like shocking.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I had like, I think because it was a stewardess page.
- 21:29Speaker 3: I think I had like a thousand and something thousand
- 21:31Speaker 3: seven hundred, but I grew very quickly.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Like it was not that much.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So I think that's really important for listeners to hear,
- 21:38Speaker 1: no matter how many followers you have, because so many
- 21:40Speaker 1: people think you have to buy followers or you have
- 21:42Speaker 1: to have like a million followers to make a difference.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But what you're saying is really important. The show found you.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Bravo found you because of this little social media page
- 21:53Speaker 1: that you just spent a lot of time on and
- 21:55Speaker 1: you really cared about. It was like a real transparent,
- 21:58Speaker 1: raw thing.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That's 100%. I mean, you don't need a
- 22:04Speaker 2: lot of followers to be honest.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So, okay. So tell me, you obviously agreed to do it.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And what was the, what, what is that process like
- 22:12Speaker 1: of interviewing? Like explain to people who are kind of upset.
- 22:15Speaker 1: There are people that are obsessed with your show, you know?
- 22:18Speaker 1: So they want to know everything from soup to nuts
- 22:20Speaker 1: about how you interview, how you, you know, how, what
- 22:23Speaker 1: happens from the beginning to the point where they're like,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you're in, you're coming next season.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Yeah. So you go through an interview process.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I guess you interview with casting first.
- 22:34Speaker 2: And then I think they pitch it to the network.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And then you interview with the network. And then they
- 22:39Speaker 2: tell you if they've chosen you or not, basically. It's
- 22:43Speaker 2: literally that simple. I think I went through like three interviews.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And were your hopes really high or you really didn't care?
- 22:51Speaker 3: Honestly, I wasn't bothered if I got it or not.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I was just like, I'm happy here in Palm Beach.
- 22:59Speaker 3: At the time, I was like in the Bahamas.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I was like, whatever. I'm on my own path. I'm
- 23:03Speaker 2: having a great time. If I get it, I get it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: If I don't, I don't. Like it wouldn't have really
- 23:08Speaker 2: affected me in any way.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Juice cleanses, soup diets, keto, hours of cardio. You lose
- 23:16Speaker 1: weight and it comes right back. You lose it again,
- 23:19Speaker 1: comes back again. Believe me, I've been there. We all have.
- 23:21Speaker 1: If this cycle sounds familiar to you, there's a better,
- 23:25Speaker 1: more sustainable way to lose weight. The Row Body Program.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Row Body is a patient-driven healthcare company that puts you
- 23:32Speaker 1: in control of your health. Row's mission is to enable

- 23:46Speaker 1: scale and in-home testing kit to track your weight loss.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Obesity is a tough subject. There's a lot of shame
- 23:53Speaker 1: and many shy away from even discussing it, but Roe

- 23:58Speaker 1: and support that enable them to succeed. They even customize

- 24:30Speaker 1: stated results. Medication cost is not included in the program.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Patients pay for that separately. One of the great things
- 24:36Speaker 1: about the Roe Body Program is they support you throughout

- 25:07Speaker 1: just $ 99 for your first month and $ 145 a month
- 25:10Speaker 1: after that. Medication costs are separate. That's ro.co slash understood. Again, ro.co
- 25:21Speaker 1: slash understood.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Okay. So, and they finally say to you, okay, you've
- 25:28Speaker 1: got the part. How does that work? Then are they like,
- 25:32Speaker 1: you have 30 days to get your stuff in order
- 25:34Speaker 1: and meet us on the boat?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Oh, I think I had like two weeks or something.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I think I had two weeks or three weeks. I mean,
- 25:42Speaker 2: I had to quit my job.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Wow.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Which was scary because the captain was not happy. Right.
- 25:51Speaker 3: And then I, yeah, then I flew to Miami and
- 25:54Speaker 3: then we were on our way to Australia.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Okay, so wait a minute. I think a lot of
- 25:59Speaker 1: people have questions about how this works in terms of
- 26:01Speaker 1: payment and if it's a real thing. So were you
- 26:04Speaker 1: making a decent living in Palm Beach with this other gentleman?
- 26:09Speaker 2: Honestly, no, because I was a junior, Stu.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I was earning the lowest and we weren't like a
- 26:14Speaker 3: heavy charter yacht. So it wasn't great money, but it
- 26:19Speaker 3: was just entry level, if.
- 26:21Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 26:22Speaker 1: And then when you're going on this show, I think,
- 26:26Speaker 1: you know, my question is like, we all see you
- 26:28Speaker 1: get tips at the end, but are you actually being
- 26:31Speaker 1: paid separately? Like you're working a nine to five job? Like,
- 26:35Speaker 1: how does that work?
- 26:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:36Speaker 3: So you do get a base salary and then you
- 26:39Speaker 3: get your money.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Right so I think that's interesting because that's different than
- 26:43Speaker 1: reality shows because you're one of the few shows where
- 26:46Speaker 1: you're actually working I mean it's not acting yeah I
- 26:49Speaker 1: mean part of it is you know acting in your
- 26:52Speaker 1: scene or whatever but um you really are are working
- 26:57Speaker 1: and have to you know do all the extracurricular things
- 27:00Speaker 1: but like you have to do a real job.
- 27:02Speaker 2: 100% yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 2: No, we're busting our ass.
- 27:07Speaker 3: That's why I look disheveled half the time because we're
- 27:10Speaker 3: actually working. Right.
- 27:12Speaker 1: So they're not starting you off in hair and makeup
- 27:14Speaker 1: every morning.
- 27:17Speaker 2: No.
- 27:17Speaker 3: And I think, and it's interesting because I feel like
- 27:19Speaker 3: people think that they do and people's like, Oh my.
- 27:21Speaker 2: God, why does this person's hair look like this? I'm like,
- 27:23Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, but I'm sweating my tits off. Okay.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I am exhausted. I have bags under my eyes.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Like I wish I had hair and makeup sitting next
- 27:30Speaker 3: to me every single morning, but I don't because this
- 27:32Speaker 3: is a real job.
- 27:34Speaker 2: So.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Okay, and what was that like?
- 27:38Speaker 2: I thought it would look like that.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Well, you're beautiful, so you look good all the time.
- 27:43Speaker 1: But I know what you mean. It's not a good
- 27:46Speaker 1: feeling when you don't get that extra oomph. So what
- 27:49Speaker 1: was it like the first day you showed up? Did
- 27:51Speaker 1: you know who was going to be on the show
- 27:52Speaker 1: with you? Or do they surprise you?
- 27:54Speaker 2: No, I had no idea. They always surprise you.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And were you aware of some of the cast members
- 28:01Speaker 1: when you walked on that boat and you saw who
- 28:04Speaker 1: was there?
- 28:07Speaker 3: My first one, no. My first season, I didn't. My
- 28:11Speaker 3: second season, I did. Okay.
- 28:13Speaker 1: So let's talk about your first season just for a second.
- 28:16Speaker 1: You were with some pretty high profile people. You were
- 28:19Speaker 1: with Captain Jason, correct? And Aisha, how do you pronounce
- 28:23Speaker 1: her name? I never get it right.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Aisha.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Aisha, right. How was your experience that first year? It's
- 28:29Speaker 1: your first year on TV. It's your first year doing
- 28:33Speaker 1: this kind of job and getting film doing it. And
- 28:36Speaker 1: it was a step up, I'm assuming, from being on
- 28:39Speaker 1: one gentleman's private yacht to a yacht that has turnover
- 28:43Speaker 1: every week. So talk about the difference there.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I absolutely had a blast my first season.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Good.
- 28:52Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 28:55Speaker 5: for it?
- 28:55Speaker 4: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 28:58Speaker 4: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 29:01Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 29:03Speaker 6: It's Dune ADL.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Where?
- 29:07Speaker 6: Dune ADL. There's an accent on the E.
- 29:11Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 29:12Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Dundale Cars.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Lift? Please.
- 29:14Speaker 5: Are you going past Kimmage?
- 29:16Speaker 2: Oh, Kimmage.
- 29:17Speaker 4: No.
- 29:19Speaker 6: Dundale Cars.
- 29:19Speaker 7: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 29:23Speaker 2: That was the most incredible experience.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I honestly, I don't even have one awful or bad
- 29:29Speaker 3: thing or I just, I loved it.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I really did love it a lot.
- 29:35Speaker 3: And it was also, I think it was the perfect
- 29:38Speaker 3: bunch of people to start this journey with, if that
- 29:42Speaker 3: makes sense. And we all genuinely had a good time
- 29:45Speaker 3: with each other, you know? And that's why sometimes I
- 29:48Speaker 3: think you don't see much drama because... It was just
- 29:51Speaker 3: so much fun. I'm still stunned by that.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I really had a great time off this season.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Let's talk about some of the misconceptions that people don't
- 29:58Speaker 1: understand about the show. For example, guests really pay. It's funny.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I was actually, they called me and asked me a
- 30:05Speaker 1: couple times if I wanted to be a guest on
- 30:07Speaker 1: one of these shows. And people don't realize this is
- 30:09Speaker 1: like a paid thing. appearance, you know? And, but at
- 30:14Speaker 1: the same time, the guests are expecting five-star service from you.
- 30:19Speaker 1: So you're, you're really fulfilling two roles. I mean, you're
- 30:22Speaker 1: trying to have a storyline, but at the same time,
- 30:25Speaker 1: you're fulfilling a real need for guests that are there
- 30:28Speaker 1: on a real trip.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And I, yeah. And that's what people, you're right.
- 30:34Speaker 3: That's what people don't realize is that when they pay
- 30:37Speaker 3: so much for this and I'm a real yachty.
- 30:39Speaker 2: So I take it seriously.
- 30:41Speaker 3: And I know that if I'm going to invest a
- 30:43Speaker 3: lot of money into something, I expect a service.
- 30:45Speaker 2: So if I have high standards, well, yes, I have
- 30:48Speaker 2: high standards because they're paying an exuberant amount of money.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 2: So it's like, that's what.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I expect from my team. That's what I expect from everyone.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Um, so yeah, that misconception, sometimes people get a.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Bit confused, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be okay
- 31:04Speaker 3: if your bed wasn't made at a certain time, or
- 31:07Speaker 3: if your towels weren't picked up from the floor, you know.
- 31:09Speaker 2: It's like, come on.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Yeah, well, of course.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 1: So you've done two seasons of the show. You were
- 31:16Speaker 1: on Down Under with Captain Jason, as we said, and
- 31:20Speaker 1: then you got a promotion to Chief Stew on this
- 31:23Speaker 1: past season of Below Deck. Yeah. Were you so excited
- 31:27Speaker 1: when you got that promotion?
- 31:29Speaker 3: I was really excited because I was already transitioning into
- 31:32Speaker 3: Chief Stew previously. um at the time anyway so I
- 31:36Speaker 3: was like this is perfect I knew I was ready
- 31:39Speaker 3: and so I was really really excited.
- 31:41Speaker 1: How for you did the two seasons differ I mean
- 31:44Speaker 1: you played such different roles but you know just give
- 31:46Speaker 1: me a little succinct depending on how it differed.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Yeah the second season was definitely way more intense I
- 31:53Speaker 3: also think that the personalities from the first season were
- 31:56Speaker 3: just super chilled you know And everyone was a little
- 32:03Speaker 3: bit more, I don't want to say mature, but they
- 32:05Speaker 3: were older. No one really wanted to deal with drama.
- 32:08Speaker 3: You know, it was just different. It was very, very different.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Definitely a more relaxed environment.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I'm curious if you watched season two of Down Under.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I watched a little bit, but I'm friends with them,
- 32:25Speaker 3: so I heard everything.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Right. So as we all know, there was a lot
- 32:29Speaker 1: of drama with season two, and there was a lot
- 32:33Speaker 1: of drama with Laura and Luke. Do you know Laura
- 32:36Speaker 1: and Luke?
- 32:38Speaker 2: No, thank God.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Okay. I'm curious if you were Chief Stu on that yacht,
- 32:46Speaker 1: would you have handled the situation the same way?
- 32:53Speaker 2: A hundred percent.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Okay.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:59Speaker 2: My God and Luke off that boat. Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 1: So what I find.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I'm also saying this because I know Lucia.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 33:08Speaker 3: And I know she would never intervene if her heart
- 33:10Speaker 3: wasn't really sensing something. She's normally super chilled. She doesn't
- 33:14Speaker 3: give a flying hoot what anyone does. But if her
- 33:17Speaker 3: tethers were, something was wrong. Okay.
- 33:20Speaker 1: So as a viewer, what I found interesting is that
- 33:23Speaker 1: obviously on all of your shows, crew members are getting together,
- 33:28Speaker 1: they're dating or sleeping together, however you want to label it.
- 33:32Speaker 1: There's a lot of drinking that goes on. And I think...
- 33:35Speaker 1: Some people took the side of, you know, this was
- 33:38Speaker 1: all normal because it always happens and it just got
- 33:42Speaker 1: a little bit too far, but it wasn't a big deal.
- 33:44Speaker 1: And it was all very normal. And it was like
- 33:46Speaker 1: made for TV to look terrible. And then some people
- 33:49Speaker 1: were like, it was totally over, you know, crossing the
- 33:53Speaker 1: line and really disgusting and sexual assault. So, you know,
- 33:58Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on that? Because I know that
- 34:00Speaker 1: on a lot of these seasons, there's a lot of intermingling.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I'm not a big fan of the intermingling
- 34:08Speaker 3: because of this reason. Yeah.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Because, and I think in the industry itself, the lines
- 34:13Speaker 2: are very blurred, very, very blurred.
- 34:16Speaker 3: And in some ways I'm, I want to say like, it's,
- 34:23Speaker 3: it's just representing what actually happens in the industry. And it,
- 34:27Speaker 3: you know, Laura and Luke's case isn't the first case
- 34:30Speaker 3: that we've heard of.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:31Speaker 2: So it's, Yeah, and because the lines are just so blurred.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Well, and that's interesting that you say that.
- 34:39Speaker 1: So this isn't just a made-for-TV show. I want to
- 34:41Speaker 1: hear more about, like, what is the difference or the
- 34:44Speaker 1: similarities and what your show was and what real yachting is. Listen,
- 34:48Speaker 1: I've been on numerous amounts of yachts. I've been to
- 34:50Speaker 1: Saint-Tropez and did all that fun stuff. But, you know,
- 34:54Speaker 1: I don't really recall any drama going on behind the
- 34:57Speaker 1: scenes with the staff, right? Um, you know, and, and
- 35:01Speaker 1: it definitely wouldn't have been appropriate if there was, you know,
- 35:05Speaker 1: that's what is interesting. So I think a lot of
- 35:08Speaker 1: people wonder if it's, it's kind of made for TV
- 35:11Speaker 1: or if it's like, that's what's happening. Cause you guys
- 35:13Speaker 1: are in the middle of the Mediterranean and there's nothing
- 35:14Speaker 1: else to do.
- 35:18Speaker 3: No, I mean, in real yachting, to be honest, any
- 35:20Speaker 3: drama and any of that stuff, you would be removed.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, just like in any job, right? If you are
- 35:29Speaker 1: crossing the line with a boss or a colleague, it
- 35:32Speaker 1: gets dangerous and distracting and people are removed. I mean,
- 35:36Speaker 1: I think that's an obvious, you know, thing that people
- 35:39Speaker 1: should probably have.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I just think a hundred percent.
- 35:43Speaker 3: And I just think that sometimes when people realize they're
- 35:46Speaker 3: coming and one of the things that frustrates me is
- 35:49Speaker 3: that sometimes when these crew members come on to the
- 35:52Speaker 3: show and they're and you film with them, it almost
- 35:55Speaker 3: feels like they're playing for the camera.
- 35:58Speaker 2: And that's why you're seeing.
- 36:00Speaker 3: This over-dramatized because I'm like, I know for a fact,
- 36:03Speaker 3: if you're on a normal yacht, your ass would be
- 36:05Speaker 3: really quiet right now.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Right.
- 36:07Speaker 2: You would like not say anything. So some people, so
- 36:11Speaker 2: I think that, yeah.
- 36:14Speaker 1: So in your opinion, some people are there for the
- 36:16Speaker 1: paycheck and for being on TV, as opposed to working
- 36:19Speaker 1: on their skills as a stew.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I almost think they think that that's what is
- 36:26Speaker 3: wanted instead of just be yourself and work, which is
- 36:30Speaker 3: what they tell us all the time. You're here to
- 36:32Speaker 3: be yourself, do your job, and let it play out naturally.
- 36:38Speaker 3: But I think people just want sometimes, not everyone, but
- 36:41Speaker 3: some people, it almost feels like they're playing for the camera.
- 36:44Speaker 3: And that can be really frustrating. And that's why it
- 36:47Speaker 3: looks overdramatic.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm curious for people that are real fans of
- 36:52Speaker 1: the show, you know, how much of it do you
- 36:54Speaker 1: think is reality and how much is it not maybe edited, but,
- 36:59Speaker 1: you know, made a little bit more dramatic? I think
- 37:01Speaker 1: a lot of people wonder if it's all made for
- 37:03Speaker 1: TV or if this is what is really happening on
- 37:06Speaker 1: the yacht and it's being represented that way.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I definitely think it's as real as it comes.
- 37:12Speaker 3: I personally, my second season, I think looks less dramatic
- 37:17Speaker 3: than what it felt like.
- 37:19Speaker 2: So I was like, this actually doesn't look too bad.
- 37:23Speaker 3: But in the moment, it felt like the world was
- 37:26Speaker 3: ending every day. So it's definitely as.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Real as it can.
- 37:30Speaker 3: They do not need to make up that drama because
- 37:33Speaker 3: it's absolute chaos.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's talk about this season for a second.
- 37:38Speaker 1: This season just wrapped. You had some very interesting guests
- 37:41Speaker 1: on this season, the fighting couple in the finale. That
- 37:45Speaker 1: was really something else. What is it like to be
- 37:47Speaker 1: around these guests? Sometimes do you want to remind them
- 37:50Speaker 1: they're being filmed?
- 37:54Speaker 3: Honestly, I don't know how they don't realize that there's
- 37:57Speaker 3: a camera in front of their face. They're going to
- 37:59Speaker 3: watch this back and their kids are going to watch
- 38:01Speaker 3: this back.
- 38:02Speaker 2: That's what's so insane to me.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Or like when we had that dentist and I'm thinking,
- 38:07Speaker 3: oh my God, you're like a professional.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Like your clients are going to see this, your patients.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Like it's just insane. But anyway, that happens when you
- 38:14Speaker 2: have a lot of alcohol.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Yes. Is there anything that happened?
- 38:19Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 38:22Speaker 5: for it?
- 38:23Speaker 4: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 38:25Speaker 4: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 38:28Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 38:30Speaker 6: It's Dune ADL.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Where?
- 38:34Speaker 5: Dune ADL?
- 38:35Speaker 6: There's an accent on the E.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Done Deal Cars.
- 38:40Speaker 5: Lyft?
- 38:41Speaker 6: Please.
- 38:42Speaker 5: You're going past Kimmage?
- 38:43Speaker 2: Oh, Kimmage.
- 38:44Speaker 4: No.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Done Deal Cars.
- 38:47Speaker 7: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Camera, that would be interesting to know. Like, do people
- 38:53Speaker 1: ever put the camera down and say, wait a minute,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I want to have this moment? You know, and it's
- 38:58Speaker 1: interesting to talk about.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Oh my God, no, the camera never goes down.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Okay.
- 39:05Speaker 1: On Below Deck, this is one of the shows on
- 39:08Speaker 1: Bravo that does not have a reunion. So I wanted
- 39:11Speaker 1: to know if there was a reunion, what would be
- 39:14Speaker 1: an issue you think that was brought up or discussed?
- 39:19Speaker 2: Everything from beginning to end.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I think I definitely think between Kyle and Natalia is
- 39:30Speaker 3: I think between Natalia and I, I think, I just think, yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 3: people should stirring. I think that would be questioned. I
- 39:38Speaker 3: think people's management skills would be questioned.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Personally, I would be always open to reunion, but yeah,
- 39:48Speaker 2: I guess.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 39:50Speaker 4: I hope.
- 39:51Speaker 2: We don't know. You never know. It may or may not.
- 39:54Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 39:54Speaker 2: But I would be willing for that.
- 39:55Speaker 1: So some of the critics out there said you as
- 39:57Speaker 1: a chief stew, your demeanor was a little abrasive. What
- 40:02Speaker 1: would you say to that?
- 40:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 40:09Speaker 3: I mean, look, it's like, it's like, I get why,
- 40:15Speaker 3: but there was a reason for it. And unfortunately, it's
- 40:18Speaker 3: hard to get into why because it wasn't filmed and
- 40:22Speaker 3: it's something that the viewers haven't seen. But there was
- 40:26Speaker 3: definitely more to why I was irritated. There was a
- 40:29Speaker 3: lot of talk behind the scenes and things that I
- 40:33Speaker 3: was hearing. So by the time I got into that boat,
- 40:36Speaker 3: I was just like, fuming.
- 40:40Speaker 1: What do you what do you mean there was just
- 40:42Speaker 1: gossip that started before you even got there.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Yeah and also like yeah there was I would say
- 40:51Speaker 3: there was I would say there was there was just
- 40:54Speaker 3: a game that was being played and I was I
- 40:56Speaker 3: I had my my feeling that there was a game
- 41:00Speaker 3: that was being played between certain people and I was
- 41:05Speaker 3: just super irritated. And at the same time, once I
- 41:07Speaker 3: walked into the boat, I was really uncomfortable and I
- 41:10Speaker 3: could just see eyes on me. Like people weren't very,
- 41:12Speaker 3: I mean, besides, yeah, besides like one or two people
- 41:15Speaker 3: that were welcoming, but it just felt almost like, oh,
- 41:17Speaker 3: you know, she's here. Like ruined our little dream team
- 41:22Speaker 3: going on. So it kind of, it was really uncomfortable.
- 41:26Speaker 1: So did that make you put like a wall up
- 41:28Speaker 1: and have some real boundaries with these people?
- 41:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, I am not going to be
- 41:34Speaker 2: stepped over by any means.
- 41:39Speaker 1: But I think, you know, on a real yacht, that
- 41:41Speaker 1: would be normal. It would be acceptable.
- 41:46Speaker 2: True. I mean, on a real yacht, you wouldn't have
- 41:48Speaker 2: three chiefs shoes. Let's just put it that way.
- 41:51Speaker 3: On a real yacht, I don't think any sane captain
- 41:53Speaker 3: is going to bring three people that are head of
- 41:56Speaker 3: departments to work with each other because we all have
- 41:59Speaker 3: different styles and it's a recipe for disaster. And the
- 42:02Speaker 3: first time I ever worked in yachting, we actually had
- 42:04Speaker 3: the situation where we had two chiefs shoes and it
- 42:06Speaker 3: was a mess, a complete mess, because it's always going
- 42:10Speaker 3: to be an ego and a power struggle. Someone's always
- 42:13Speaker 3: going to think that they know better. And that was
- 42:16Speaker 3: my biggest worry. And I knew that it just was
- 42:20Speaker 3: going to, either way it was going to be a problem.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Yeah. You had a fan recently say something, make a
- 42:30Speaker 1: comment about the fact that they were saying you were
- 42:34Speaker 1: diversity higher. What are your thoughts about that?
- 42:36Speaker 2: I actually did see that. That's insane.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:43Speaker 2: It's crazy because, you know, I've really busted my ass.
- 42:46Speaker 3: In this industry and I actually don't even take that
- 42:50Speaker 3: seriously because I am one of the few people I'm
- 42:53Speaker 3: not going to name names, but I'm the few yachties
- 42:56Speaker 3: in this below deck universe that actually still works in yachting.
- 43:01Speaker 3: And post show, I ended up working on a boat
- 43:03Speaker 3: larger than the one that you see on below.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Deck, managed more people and did a phenomenal job. And
- 43:09Speaker 2: it was a really, really tough boat.
- 43:11Speaker 3: So to those of them that are like diversity hire,
- 43:14Speaker 3: I would love them to send forth their CVs and
- 43:16Speaker 3: see if they can do it themselves. Okay.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I love that. That's my answer. Um, in watching the
- 43:24Speaker 1: show back from this season, you know, what were your thoughts?
- 43:27Speaker 1: Was there anything you, you already said you thought it
- 43:30Speaker 1: was more dramatic in real life than what you saw, but, um,
- 43:33Speaker 1: was there anything that you saw in the editing that
- 43:37Speaker 1: you saw on TV that you didn't even know happened?
- 43:41Speaker 2: Oh, a lot.
- 43:41Speaker 3: I mean, the shouting thing between like style and jazz, like, um,
- 43:48Speaker 3: the gossiping, um, I just didn't realize that it was
- 43:53Speaker 3: that bad because it's just like certain people, actually everybody,
- 43:58Speaker 3: every person that I was interacting with, I had a
- 44:01Speaker 3: personal relationship with them, but I didn't see their relationships
- 44:04Speaker 3: with other people.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Because I was busy. I'm upstairs, I'm working, I'm running around.
- 44:08Speaker 3: So it was really interesting to see how people's demeanors
- 44:12Speaker 3: and behaviors changed. or were way worse than what I
- 44:18Speaker 3: thought it was because someone can come tell me oh
- 44:20Speaker 3: my god this person did this to me but I
- 44:21Speaker 3: wasn't there so I can't see that and so that
- 44:24Speaker 3: was a little disappointing and and very surprising I also
- 44:30Speaker 3: didn't know about the multiple hookups I have no idea
- 44:34Speaker 3: so many people were hooking up I almost felt like
- 44:37Speaker 3: I wasn't even living on that.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Boat that's funny honestly.
- 44:42Speaker 1: That's so interesting. So is there a below deck friend
- 44:45Speaker 1: that you still talk to? You know, you kind of
- 44:48Speaker 1: create like a family, like you feel like a family
- 44:50Speaker 1: a little bit when you film these kind of shows.
- 44:51Speaker 1: So is there someone in your life?
- 44:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, many of them.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I mean, Aisha Bertini from season one, Captain Shift, Ryan,
- 45:03Speaker 3: Captain Jason, and Um, you know, from my season now
- 45:07Speaker 3: it's Jess and Lily.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Like I still speak to them. Luca.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I was with Luca at BravoCon. So you still do.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 2: But I would say like the person that's like my
- 45:19Speaker 2: bestie is Bertini. Like that's my girl. Okay.
- 45:23Speaker 1: So I think people are curious, once you're done filming
- 45:25Speaker 1: stuff like this, how does it work? Because then you
- 45:27Speaker 1: have to, I mean, if you're doing this to be
- 45:30Speaker 1: an actress or to further your television career, you go
- 45:33Speaker 1: down one road. But if you're really working in the
- 45:36Speaker 1: yachting industry, how do you get back into it?
- 45:41Speaker 2: You just apply. You apply for work. But it can
- 45:44Speaker 2: be tough.
- 45:45Speaker 3: It can be tough because especially the more that you
- 45:48Speaker 3: do and the more that captains see that you're on
- 45:50Speaker 3: this boat.
- 45:51Speaker 2: I've had boats where they've said, sorry, you've been on
- 45:53Speaker 2: below deck.
- 45:53Speaker 3: We don't want to hire below deck. So it can
- 45:56Speaker 3: hinder you from getting another job. But you just apply.
- 46:02Speaker 3: And I have many friends in the industry.
- 46:04Speaker 1: But I'm curious why.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Because they don't think. why they think that it's, they
- 46:10Speaker 2: don't want us.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 1: I mean, I'm curious if it's because they want, you know,
- 46:15Speaker 1: you to understand how to be, you know, quiet about
- 46:19Speaker 1: things and be very under the radar, or is it
- 46:22Speaker 1: because they think you have too much drama because of that?
- 46:25Speaker 1: Like what, why would you not get hired?
- 46:27Speaker 3: Yeah, because like what you were saying is that it's
- 46:30Speaker 3: like so dramatized. They assume that you're drama and that's
- 46:33Speaker 3: not the essence of yachting. So the minute they hear
- 46:37Speaker 3: that you are below deck, they're like, oh, well, she's
- 46:41Speaker 3: definitely going to be drama and she's going to be
- 46:42Speaker 3: dramatic and she's going to be this. So, I mean,
- 46:45Speaker 3: I've had, you know, I remember my first season, I
- 46:47Speaker 3: went on a boat and I only told them they
- 46:51Speaker 3: found out actually because a fan came up to me
- 46:53Speaker 3: when we're having a crew dinner.
- 46:55Speaker 2: And that's how they found out. And they were like, wow,
- 46:57Speaker 2: to me, if.
- 46:57Speaker 3: We had known that we would have never hired you,
- 46:59Speaker 3: but you're not going anywhere because we love you.
- 47:01Speaker 2: And that's because I don't start drama. You know, it's like. Yeah.
- 47:06Speaker 3: So a lot of the times I get where they're
- 47:09Speaker 3: coming from because if they watch the season from mid,
- 47:13Speaker 3: I mean, they're going to.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Be like, what the hell is this?
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:17Speaker 2: This is not how we do it.
- 47:19Speaker 1: So how long ago did you guys wrap?
- 47:21Speaker 5: 2021.
- 47:24Speaker 2: What year are we in? 2022 is when we filmed.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Oh, wow. So it's been a while. So you've been
- 47:32Speaker 1: working on yachts since?
- 47:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I worked on yachts since.
- 47:38Speaker 1: And is that your trajectory? Like, are you going to
- 47:41Speaker 1: continue doing that? What do you want to do with
- 47:43Speaker 1: your future?
- 47:45Speaker 3: My cutoff was always 30 when I started yachting and
- 47:48Speaker 3: I'm 30 at the end of this year and my
- 47:50Speaker 3: certificates are ending.
- 47:52Speaker 2: So this is my last run. It's been a great run,
- 47:57Speaker 2: but no, we're not. We're going to move on.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I would love to move to households.
- 48:03Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Oh, meaning working as like a house manager?
- 48:07Speaker 2: Yeah for a couple of like houses that would be good.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Yeah i mean it's the same kind of concept because
- 48:13Speaker 1: it's it's high-end hospitality for a wealthy individual taking care
- 48:17Speaker 1: of all their stuff knowing how to put um you
- 48:20Speaker 1: know tabletops and you know doing all these things that
- 48:23Speaker 1: are special um services kind of for an individual so
- 48:27Speaker 1: i i totally understand that do you think that you
- 48:29Speaker 1: will um so you're not going to do any more
- 48:32Speaker 1: seasons is that what you're saying.
- 48:35Speaker 2: No, you never know. I mean, you never know with me.
- 48:37Speaker 2: You never know with me. I mean, I'm open to anything.
- 48:44Speaker 2: I'm open to opportunity.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:46Speaker 2: If it feels right.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you a couple of kind of
- 48:50Speaker 1: rapid fire questions. If you could pick a dream team
- 48:54Speaker 1: to do a season with, who would it be and
- 48:57Speaker 1: where would it be?
- 49:00Speaker 3: Oh my God.
- 49:02Speaker 2: That is crazy.
- 49:05Speaker 3: Okay, so I'd pick Aisha, Bertini, Chef Ryan, just to
- 49:11Speaker 3: stir shit up.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Fraser, definitely Fraser. Alex, we need a cutie.
- 49:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:20Speaker 2: From Sailing. Captain Jason. And Captain Sandy. I think we
- 49:26Speaker 2: could have those two together. That's my dream team. And
- 49:29Speaker 2: it would be somewhere wild, like maybe Alaska.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Okay. That's where I was born, by the way.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I love it there. Oh, I love that.
- 49:39Speaker 1: It's a beautiful place to be on a boat. Okay.
- 49:42Speaker 1: You've been to a lot of beautiful places. What would
- 49:45Speaker 1: be your favorite one?
- 49:47Speaker 2: The Bahamas.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Really?
- 49:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 49:50Speaker 2: On yachts. Yeah.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Has there ever been a request by a guest that
- 49:55Speaker 1: totally blew your mind because it was so ridiculous?
- 49:59Speaker 3: Yes, when we were asked to get a birthday cake
- 50:02Speaker 3: for Fat Joe.
- 50:04Speaker 2: At like 9 p.m. at night in New York City.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Okay. Did you pull that off?
- 50:12Speaker 2: Yes. Thank you to Carla's Bakery.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 50:17Speaker 1: When you get off the boat at the end of
- 50:19Speaker 1: the season, what is the first thing you do? Eat, sleep,
- 50:22Speaker 1: go see your boyfriend? What's the first thing you want
- 50:25Speaker 1: to do when you get off?
- 50:28Speaker 2: I literally sleep for seven days straight. I'm not even kidding. Yeah.
- 50:32Speaker 2: I like live in the bed.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Wow.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Actually, which takes me to a different question, but you know,
- 50:38Speaker 1: there's so much made of these nights out that you
- 50:41Speaker 1: guys all have. Like what, what is the feeling going
- 50:46Speaker 1: on that you guys all need to party that hard
- 50:48Speaker 1: when everybody leaves? Like for me, I would feel like
- 50:52Speaker 1: I want to stay in my room and watch Netflix.
- 50:54Speaker 1: I don't want anyone around me. I want to just
- 50:57Speaker 1: be by myself. I want to drink, but it seems
- 50:59Speaker 1: like everyone really wants to go out and blow some
- 51:01Speaker 1: steam off.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Well, I mean, at the end of the day, we're
- 51:05Speaker 3: doing a reality show and it is our job. So
- 51:07Speaker 3: it is expected of us to go out. I mean,
- 51:10Speaker 3: you know, there are times where you don't want to,
- 51:12Speaker 3: but there were times when I didn't want to, but
- 51:15Speaker 3: at the same time, it's just like, you kind of
- 51:16Speaker 3: just have to do what you have to do.
- 51:18Speaker 2: I also think it's great because it keeps the adrenaline going. Yeah.
- 51:23Speaker 2: So that you can crash after. Yeah.
- 51:26Speaker 3: So it's almost like, and you know, once you're out
- 51:29Speaker 3: and you're having dinner and you, you, you, we have
- 51:32Speaker 3: a couple of drinks and it's just like, everything becomes
- 51:34Speaker 3: fun again.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 51:36Speaker 3: So, but if you really don't want to, you don't
- 51:38Speaker 3: have to, but at the same time, it is a show.
- 51:42Speaker 2: And in real life, we're not doing this.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Got it.
- 51:45Speaker 2: We are sleeping.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Got it.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Right.
- 51:47Speaker 1: What is one thing about working and living on a
- 51:50Speaker 1: boat that would surprise people?
- 51:52Speaker 2: Oh, I always say that.
- 52:00Speaker 3: I don't know if it's every boat I've been on,
- 52:03Speaker 3: but normally not choosing when you want to eat killed me.
- 52:08Speaker 3: Like I'm just such a conscious eater and people assume
- 52:11Speaker 3: that you can just be like, oh, I'm going to
- 52:13Speaker 3: go grab something to eat.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Right now whilst you're like on shift. No, it doesn't
- 52:16Speaker 2: work like that.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:18Speaker 2: My first point, I had to get told my teeth.
- 52:21Speaker 5: Right.
- 52:22Speaker 1: I would assume it's very weird that you're spending all
- 52:24Speaker 1: this time with these crew members, again, like becoming a
- 52:28Speaker 1: family kind of, and you go through all this stuff
- 52:29Speaker 1: with them. And then 99% of the time, you probably
- 52:32Speaker 1: never see these people again, because they're all from different
- 52:35Speaker 1: walks of life and go on to do a million
- 52:37Speaker 1: other things. And you're not living in one area, you know?
- 52:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 52:43Speaker 3: No, honestly, that is true. You never, ever, ever see
- 52:46Speaker 3: these people ever again. And I mean, I don't know
- 52:49Speaker 3: the last time I saw anyone from like my first book.
- 52:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:53Speaker 2: And you can spend eight months with them. You can
- 52:55Speaker 2: be roommates with them. You can eat, breathe, sleep them.
- 52:58Speaker 3: You can share all these experiences in different parts of
- 53:01Speaker 3: the world and you'll never see them again.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Sum up this season in three words, like crazy, exhausting.
- 53:09Speaker 5: Emotional, whatever.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Exhausting, chaotic, and overwhelming.
- 53:17Speaker 4: Okay.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Last question. Do you watch any other Bravo shows?
- 53:22Speaker 2: Oh, I was literally just watching The Real Housewives of
- 53:25Speaker 2: Salt Lake City. I was watching The Reunion.
- 53:27Speaker 3: Me too.
- 53:29Speaker 1: What are your thoughts about that?
- 53:31Speaker 2: Oh my God, that season finale. I was like sitting
- 53:37Speaker 2: there like this. It was so insane. So good. So,
- 53:44Speaker 2: so good.
- 53:45Speaker 1: So do you think, do you think Monica should be
- 53:48Speaker 1: kicked off the show or you think that's amazing what
- 53:50Speaker 1: she did?
- 53:53Speaker 3: No, she needs to come back. I mean, she's definitely
- 53:55Speaker 3: plays dirty, but she's great.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. I've been watching it too.
- 54:00Speaker 2: I wouldn't want to be there with her. Yeah.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Right.
- 54:05Speaker 1: But I'll tell you, it seems like this is their
- 54:06Speaker 1: best season. It's really good.
- 54:11Speaker 2: It is so, so good. I really, really love it.
- 54:14Speaker 2: I enjoyed it a lot.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Do you watch any other shows on Bravo?
- 54:19Speaker 2: I do. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is another one
- 54:22Speaker 2: that I really like.
- 54:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's either Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Atlanta, I'm
- 54:26Speaker 3: not too into anymore, Salt Lake City, and that's about it.
- 54:32Speaker 2: And then The Below Dicks. I'm not a big TV person.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Okay, so last difficult question. If they did an Ultimate
- 54:39Speaker 1: Girls trip... with all different Bravo stars, it doesn't have
- 54:43Speaker 1: to be girls, but ultimate trip from all Bravo reality stars,
- 54:49Speaker 1: who would you pick to go on that with you?
- 54:54Speaker 2: Okay, I like Teresa.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Okay.
- 54:57Speaker 3: I need her there for Spice. I love Carl Richards
- 55:00Speaker 3: because she's a Capricorn queen. I need Erika Jayne. I
- 55:07Speaker 3: would have Monica just for control purposes.
- 55:11Speaker 2: And you know what? I'm going to bring Danielle Starr back.
- 55:14Speaker 5: Wow.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Why?
- 55:15Speaker 2: We're going to make this really feisty. And then me
- 55:18Speaker 2: and Aisha, we can just sit down and watch.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Okay. I love it. I love it. That's great.
- 55:23Speaker 3: All right.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Where can people find you?
- 55:28Speaker 3: Well, I am on Instagram at Damien Fong-On, same as
- 55:31Speaker 3: Twitter at Damien Fong-On, same as everything else.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Okay. And just like what's on your bucket list going forward?
- 55:43Speaker 2: Travel, travel, travel, travel, fun, fun, fun, fun. Great.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 55:49Speaker 2: I would really love to ski this year. Skiing is
- 55:52Speaker 2: the number one thing.
- 55:54Speaker 7: Great.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I love that. Timmy, I wish you the best of luck.

- 56:45Speaker 5: The car is beautiful. Where did you end up going
- 56:48Speaker 5: for it?
- 56:49Speaker 4: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. They have
- 56:52Speaker 4: more cars for more dealerships than like anywhere else.
- 56:54Speaker 5: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 56:56Speaker 6: It's Dunaidial.
- 56:59Speaker 5: Where?
- 57:00Speaker 6: Dunaidial. There's an accent on the E.
- 57:04Speaker 5: Do you mean.
- 57:05Speaker 6: Yes, I got it on Dundale Cars.
- 57:06Speaker 4: Lift?
- 57:07Speaker 2: Please.
- 57:08Speaker 5: Are you going past Kimmage?
- 57:09Speaker 6: Oh, Kimmage.
- 57:11Speaker 2: No.
- 57:12Speaker 6: Dundale Cars.
- 57:13Speaker 7: You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
