  Speaker 1: is good. and he turned him unto his disciples and

  Speaker 1: that ye see this is for the disciples now this

  Speaker 1: is for the see the secret of the Lord is

  Speaker 1: believe God's going to use the wealth of the unjust.

  Speaker 1: I believe that in some cases God's going to use

  Speaker 1: your enemy to bless you. You're going to be scared

  Speaker 1: to take it, but God's going to anoint them to

  Speaker 1: be a blessing in your life so that you know.

  Speaker 1: That if it had not been for the Lord that

  Speaker 1: thing is needful. And Mary hath chosen that good part

  Speaker 1: I'd like the privilege of praying with you. Both of

  Speaker 1: these women are in a moment. But then what to

  Speaker 1: do with the moment is the issue. Some of you

  Speaker 1: are praying for God to do something and all God's

  Speaker 1: going to do is give you a moment. And you're

  Speaker 1: going to have to walk with him daily to get
• 5:30
  Speaker 1: where your eyes are open wide enough and your ears

  Speaker 1: are clear enough to discern the right moment. That means

  Speaker 1: that something that didn't work in the wrong moment will

  Speaker 1: work in the right moment If you know what to
• 5:48
  Speaker 1: do in that moment, it's just going to be a moment.

  Speaker 1: There's going to be a great shaking coming upon our
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: nation and upon our world and upon our generation, but
• 5:59
  Speaker 1: God's going to give you a moment. And if you

  Speaker 1: find yourself moving in the right direction at the right moment,
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: God's going to open the windows of heaven and bless
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: you like you've never been blessed before. He did it
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: for the Rockefellers in the middle of a depression. God
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: doesn't have to wait for everything to be right in
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: the newspaper for him to bless you out of his word.

  Speaker 1: If God says I'm going to bless you, I will

  Speaker 1: bless you if you have an ear. Hear what the

  Speaker 1: Spirit is saying to the church. In fact, if you're

  Speaker 1: bold about it, touch somebody and say God is talking

  Speaker 1: to me. You may be seated in the presence of

  Speaker 1: the Lord. He's talking to me about discerning the right moment.

  Speaker 1: He's talking to me that I need to be a
• 6:51
  Speaker 1: little closer to him. He's talking to me that I
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: can't just come to him when I need him. I
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: have to be in close proximity to God to be
• 7:01
  Speaker 1: able to do what God would have me to do.

  Speaker 1: He's talking to me with power and with clarity. The
• 7:08
  Speaker 1: text before us today is written by Luke. It is called, therefore,
• 7:15
  Speaker 1: the Gospel of Saint Luke. Luke is not an apostle,
• 7:20
  Speaker 1: as it were. He is an evangelist. He is a disciple.
• 7:27
  Speaker 1: He is a physician. He is an author, but he
• 7:31
  Speaker 1: is not an apostle. Still, he is allowed to creep
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: into the Gospels. because of the profundity of his ability
• 7:41
  Speaker 1: to articulate what he sees. He not only writes about
• 7:46
  Speaker 1: the doings of Jesus, he also continues to walk with
• 7:51
  Speaker 1: Paul over into the book of Acts and records for
• 7:56
  Speaker 1: us the book of Acts so that we might understand
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: the revolution and evolution and the twist from the Son
• 8:04
  Speaker 1: to the Holy Spirit. God entrusted all of that in
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: his hands, knowing that he was able to give us
• 8:11
  Speaker 1: that kind of information. In fact, if you really study
• 8:16
  Speaker 1: it closely, the book of Luke and the book of
• 8:18
  Speaker 1: Acts are actually Siamese twins. They are connected in such
• 8:25
  Speaker 1: a way that he continues what he says from the
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: last sentence in Luke to the first sentence in Acts.
• 8:33
  Speaker 1: The former treaties have I made, O Theophilus, of all
• 8:36
  Speaker 1: that Jesus began both to do and to teach. He
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: keeps right on talking. He goes from one degree of
• 8:43
  Speaker 1: grace into the next degree of grace. He goes from
• 8:47
  Speaker 1: talking about Jesus before the cross to talking about Jesus
• 8:52
  Speaker 1: after resurrection. And he goes to talking about how Jesus
• 8:56
  Speaker 1: showed himself alive for 40 days with many infallible proofs.
• 9:01
  Speaker 1: And when he had finished showing himself, he called for
• 9:04
  Speaker 1: the escort service of a cloud to come down and
• 9:07
  Speaker 1: get him. And he stood up on the cloud and
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: disappeared out of their sight. And the disciples were standing
• 9:14
  Speaker 1: there gazing at him. When the question was asked, why
• 9:17
  Speaker 1: stand ye here gazing at him? This same man. Jesus,
• 9:22
  Speaker 1: whom ye have crucified, will come back again in like manner.
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: Luke is busy recording it. So we have a highlight
• 9:31
  Speaker 1: reel of what happens. Somebody say a highlight reel. Most
• 9:38
  Speaker 1: of our lives, we count them in hours and days
• 9:42
  Speaker 1: and seconds and minutes. But most of our minutes are
• 9:47
  Speaker 1: just highlight reels. I've been married to my wife for
• 9:52
  Speaker 1: 45 years. 45 years. And I cannot tell you what
• 10:03
  Speaker 1: happened every day of the 45 years. I do have
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: a highlight reel of those distinctive moments that stood out
• 10:13
  Speaker 1: and were etched in an indelible way in my spirit.
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: with such a profundity that they will never leave me.
• 10:22
  Speaker 1: They will never leave me. They will be with me forever.
• 10:27
  Speaker 1: In fact, often now we sit up and talk about
• 10:29
  Speaker 1: different things that happened 25 and 30 years ago and
• 10:33
  Speaker 1: we remember those things. We remember the dynamic moments, whether
• 10:39
  Speaker 1: they were good or bad, but there were some days
• 10:42
  Speaker 1: that have escaped our memories simply because they were redundant
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: and indifferent and nothing exciting happened that day and there
• 10:50
  Speaker 1: was nothing to record. When I asked Beverly to take
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: notes in a business meeting for us, I am not
• 10:57
  Speaker 1: asking her to give me every word of everything that
• 11:01
  Speaker 1: everybody said. I'm asking her to record the highlights, the
• 11:07
  Speaker 1: pivotal moments, the turning moments, the twisting moments. Luke is
• 11:13
  Speaker 1: a sign this this journey, this task of recording the
• 11:19
  Speaker 1: pivotal moments. He gives us the clearest depiction of what
• 11:24
  Speaker 1: Jesus said to the lawyer who was trying to embarrass
• 11:27
  Speaker 1: him and ask him questions about who is my neighbor
• 11:32
  Speaker 1: because Jesus said to love thy neighbor as you love
• 11:34
  Speaker 1: yourself and to love your God with all your heart,
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: your mind, and soul. And Jesus said if you get
• 11:39
  Speaker 1: those two things right, In those two commandments lies the
• 11:43
  Speaker 1: whole commandments. Everything else is crushed into these two things.
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: If you love God with all your heart, your mind,
• 11:51
  Speaker 1: and soul, and if you love your neighbor as yourself,
• 11:55
  Speaker 1: you have fulfilled the commandments. He says that clearly and
• 12:01
  Speaker 1: concisely to them. And he says it in such a
• 12:04
  Speaker 1: way that Luke records it. He records the discussions. The
• 12:10
  Speaker 1: strife that rises between the educated lawyer who knew the law,
• 12:16
  Speaker 1: but the man who studied the law is talking to
• 12:19
  Speaker 1: the man who was the law. And when you're talking
• 12:25
  Speaker 1: to me about something that came out of me, Your
• 12:29
  Speaker 1: studying it, your snapshot, your sizzle reel, your Instagram quote.
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: It's amazing to me how much people think they can
• 12:37
  Speaker 1: learn from an Instagram quote. From the turn of a
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: head or the twist of an eye. And they will
• 12:43
  Speaker 1: write like they are an authority on you and you
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: have never seen them a day in your life. Their
• 12:50
  Speaker 1: judgment will all be made over the assumption of who
• 12:55
  Speaker 1: you are based on a particular moment. And when in
• 12:59
  Speaker 1: the next moment, if they went on to see the
• 13:02
  Speaker 1: next moment, they'd have had a fuller understanding. If they
• 13:05
  Speaker 1: spent a week with you, you get more information. If
• 13:09
  Speaker 1: you spent a month with me, you will find out
• 13:11
  Speaker 1: that what you thought in a second isn't true at all.
• 13:15
  Speaker 1: Snap judgments have caused some of us to end up
• 13:18
  Speaker 1: in trouble unspeakable. Snap judgments have been the catalysts of divorces,
• 13:23
  Speaker 1: snap judgments, have caused people to judge you harshly and
• 13:28
  Speaker 1: decided that you are persnickety, uppity, into yourself, selfish, unkind, hateful,
• 13:34
  Speaker 1: and make a decision so perilous that they execute a
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: judgment on you and say, I don't like you over
• 13:41
  Speaker 1: a moment, a facial expression. You walk past him and
• 13:45
  Speaker 1: they decide because you walk past him That they don't
• 13:49
  Speaker 1: like you and they don't know you walked past them
• 13:52
  Speaker 1: thinking about something that didn't have nothing to do with them.
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: They weren't nowhere on your mind. Come on, somebody. Is
• 13:59
  Speaker 1: there anybody in here that's ever been judged harshly? And
• 14:03
  Speaker 1: people act like they knew what they were talking about,
• 14:05
  Speaker 1: but they were wrong. They had no idea what was
• 14:09
  Speaker 1: going on. Luke is brought into this situation of recording
• 14:14
  Speaker 1: these dynamic moments for Jesus Christ and it is very
• 14:18
  Speaker 1: strange and unusual because he is called the beloved physician
• 14:24
  Speaker 1: and Christ uses him to articulate the word of God
• 14:28
  Speaker 1: with revelation. He is a very prolific writer. Can I
• 14:33
  Speaker 1: take my time? Amen. He is a very prolific writer
• 14:37
  Speaker 1: that writes with such distinction that they ignored the fact
• 14:41
  Speaker 1: that he was a Gentile. My Bible scholars know what
• 14:49
  Speaker 1: I'm talking about. They ignored the fact that he was
• 14:52
  Speaker 1: a Gentile and he's writing about a Jewish Messiah and
• 14:56
  Speaker 1: allowed him to articulate and introduce, as it were, Jesus
• 15:01
  Speaker 1: Christ to us through the lens of his understanding, though
• 15:05
  Speaker 1: that he was not edified by the law. He was
• 15:09
  Speaker 1: perceptive of the moment and he knew who Jesus was
• 15:14
  Speaker 1: and he wrote about Jesus with power. He goes from
• 15:17
  Speaker 1: walking with Jesus to walking with the Apostle Paul, defining
• 15:22
  Speaker 1: and declaring the word of the Lord, even though Paul
• 15:25
  Speaker 1: was taking a journey to return no more. I'm not
• 15:30
  Speaker 1: impressed with people who will walk with you in the
• 15:33
  Speaker 1: high moment. I'm impressed with people who will walk with
• 15:40
  Speaker 1: you in a storm. When the boat is falling apart
• 15:45
  Speaker 1: and all the boards have been slit and shattered and
• 15:49
  Speaker 1: all hell is breaking loose and lightning is flashing and
• 15:53
  Speaker 1: thunder is rolling and you're still hanging on with me.
• 15:56
  Speaker 1: I'm impressed with people that will grab a log and
• 16:00
  Speaker 1: hold on to the log and say, I'm still with you.
• 16:03
  Speaker 1: I still got your back. Whatever happens, we're going to
• 16:06
  Speaker 1: make it together. We may not make it comfortably. We
• 16:10
  Speaker 1: may not make it easily. We may have to go
• 16:13
  Speaker 1: in and get wet and get soaked. We may almost drown.
• 16:17
  Speaker 1: We may find ourselves in a crisis.

  Speaker 2: But wherever.

  Speaker 1: You going. I'm going with you. Because I know if

  Speaker 1: you be for me, you are more than the world

  Speaker 1: against me. I'm going to stick it out. I'm going

  Speaker 1: going to stick it out when you got a job.

  Speaker 1: I'm going to stick it out when we're eating filet mignon.

  Speaker 1: beans and rice. I'm going to stick it out with you.

  Speaker 1: If we have to make peanut butter cookies and call

  Speaker 1: it a day. I'm going to stick it out with you.

  Speaker 1: If I have to eat a jam sandwich. And a

  Speaker 1: piece of cornbread. I'm going to stick it out with you.

  Speaker 1: If we don't have any salt and any butter and

  Speaker 1: any milk. I'm going to stick it out with you.

  Speaker 1: Those are the kinds of covenant brothers that make real relationships.

  Speaker 1: Not the people who are fair weather people. Not the
• 17:07
  Speaker 1: people who are with you when you're popular. Not the
• 17:09
  Speaker 1: people who are with you when you're on top of
• 17:11
  Speaker 1: the mountain. Anybody can love you when you're on the
• 17:15
  Speaker 1: top of the mountain. But somebody who will walk with
• 17:18
  Speaker 1: you while you are tied up on a ship and
• 17:21
  Speaker 1: the ship has hit a storm and the boards have
• 17:24
  Speaker 1: shattered into splinters and you have to make it on
• 17:27
  Speaker 1: broken pieces. I wish I had somebody in here that
• 17:31
  Speaker 1: knew what it was like to make it on broken pieces.
• 17:35
  Speaker 1: You didn't have a cabin. You didn't have a suite.
• 17:38
  Speaker 1: You didn't have a cruise ship. All you had was
• 17:41
  Speaker 1: a fragment.

  Speaker 1: I made it in the storm

  Speaker 1: and in the rain. I made it with a gas
• 18:17
  Speaker 1: tank on F and I kept on driving anyway. I

  Speaker 1: made it going through hell and high water. I traded

  Speaker 1: in pop bottles and made it. I traded in food

  Speaker 1: stamps and made it. I've been through some stuff. You

  Speaker 1: can't run me away by rolling your eyes at me.

  Speaker 1: I've been through too much. If God brought me through
• 18:37
  Speaker 1: on boards and broken pieces, then the same God is
• 18:41
  Speaker 1: able to take me through whatever I'm facing right now.

  Speaker 1: You're not going to run me off by rolling your

  Speaker 1: eyes at me. I'm tougher than that. I'm stronger than that.

  Speaker 1: I know how it is to shed a tear and

  Speaker 1: still fight back. I wish I had some people in

  Speaker 1: here that cry and fight at the same time. I

  Speaker 1: wish I had some people in here that get so

  Speaker 1: mad that tears start running down your face and you

  Speaker 1: start punching while the tears are yet to run. Don't

  Speaker 1: let the tears fool you. Because I intend to fight back.

  Speaker 1: Slap your neighbor and say fight back. Though the storms
• 19:19
  Speaker 1: assail your soul, fight back. Though the wind arrest your movement,

  Speaker 1: fight back. Though billows roll, fight back. Though the lightning

  Speaker 1: is flashing, fight back. Keep your dukes up even when

  Speaker 1: your tears are falling down. Fight back. There are some

  Speaker 1: people in this room that only made it because they
• 19:40
  Speaker 1: recognize the power of the moment and they made up

  Speaker 1: in their mind, I'm going to fight back no matter what.

  Speaker 1: If I'm talking about you, make some noise.

  Speaker 1: Identify yourself. Come out the closet and let hell know

  Speaker 1: who you are. Let the demons understand that you're serious.

  Speaker 1: my soul. I'm trying to be careful, but I feel it.

  Speaker 1: In my soul. I feel it in my spirit. I

  Speaker 1: feel like the Holy Ghost is going to do something.

  Speaker 1: You might put another bobby pin in your hat. Because

  Speaker 1: the Holy Ghost might knock it off your head. You

  Speaker 1: might go ahead and kick off your shoes. Because you

  Speaker 1: might end up running before I get through preaching. You

  Speaker 1: might tie yourself down and get your belt real tight

  Speaker 1: because the Holy Ghost is going to break a yoke
• 20:50
  Speaker 1: in this room. And when God breaks a yoke, it
• 20:54
  Speaker 1: is forever broke. It is destroyed. It is shattered. It
• 20:58
  Speaker 1: is broken into pieces. Somebody's had a hard time, but

  Speaker 1: you made it. You went through hell, but you made it.

  Speaker 1: You liked to die, but you made it. You got hungry,

  Speaker 1: but you made it. You got hurt, but you made it.

  Speaker 1: You cried all night, but you made it. You suffered

  Speaker 1: when nobody was looking, but you made it. You curled

  Speaker 1: up in a knot on the floor and screamed till

  Speaker 1: you fell asleep. But you made it and you got

  Speaker 1: the victory and you still ain't got no money. You

  Speaker 1: got the victory and you still don't have a new car.

  Speaker 1: You got the victory and you still ain't moved in

  Speaker 1: the new house. But when I think about where the

  Speaker 1: Lord has brought me from, when I think about what

  Speaker 1: the Lord has done for me, I got the victory.

  Speaker 1: You may not be able to see it. What the

  Speaker 1: Lord has done for me. But the Lord is blessing

  Speaker 1: me right now. It may not be in my garage.

  Speaker 1: It may not be in my bank account. It may

  Speaker 1: not be in my trust. It may not be in

  Speaker 1: stocks and bonds. But the Lord has done some stuff

  Speaker 1: for me that I couldn't even pay for. And when

  Speaker 1: you see me shout. I'm not shouting over my dress.

  Speaker 1: I'm not shouting over my shoes. I'm not shouting over

  Speaker 1: my car. But when I look back and remember where

  Speaker 1: God brought me from, when I look back and remember
