- 0:05Speaker 1: All right, Scott quit KP. Scott quit on us today,
- 0:09Speaker 1: so it's just me and you. I hope you can
- 0:11Speaker 1: deal with that. You went for the wife meter look,
- 0:13Speaker 1: which is interesting.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Look, don't worry, no, no, not wife beater. Fabletics tank top,
- 0:18Speaker 2: Fabletics tank top.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Yeah. See, I don't have the tats. I don't have
- 0:21Speaker 1: the arms to pull that off, so I always have
- 0:23Speaker 1: to go fully sleeve. If I had tats like you had,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'd probably be a little bit more open to the
- 0:30Speaker 1: tank top look. But you know, some of us have
- 0:31Speaker 1: like kind of hairy arms a little bit, see, like
- 0:34Speaker 1: not fully shaven, so we kind of need to cover
- 0:36Speaker 1: up certain parts of our body.
- 0:38Speaker 2: That's fair, that's fair.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we all can't look as good
- 0:42Speaker 1: as you, KP. It's okay. I forgive you for looking
- 0:44Speaker 1: so damn good.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You're you're a busy person. You're working all the time.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I'm not working nearly as much as you. I have
- 0:51Speaker 2: young kids. They keep me young in spirit, they keep
- 0:55Speaker 2: me physically young. We just had different parts of our life.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I'm sure you know a handful of years from now,
- 1:02Speaker 2: when my my youngest is eleven months, you know, when
- 1:05Speaker 2: she's a little bit older, the tank tops will probably
- 1:08Speaker 2: get put away.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah. True. May your kids get to be teenagers and
- 1:13Speaker 1: they will be like, Dad, everything you do is annoying, Dad,
- 1:17Speaker 1: Why are you so annoying? Dad? Stop doing that. You'll
- 1:20Speaker 1: see You'll see KP. You'll see KP when one day
- 1:23Speaker 1: your kids are old enough to really get a little
- 1:25Speaker 1: bit angry at you. But that's okay, it's okay. You
- 1:28Speaker 1: get used to it after a while, and then they
- 1:29Speaker 1: turn around and they're like, Dad, you're pretty cool. Actually
- 1:32Speaker 1: when you go to when you know, you take them
- 1:34Speaker 1: to the club and stuff and you pay for their drinks.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that is true. It's the circle of life. Kids
- 1:40Speaker 2: can't live without their parents, and then they go through
- 1:42Speaker 2: that phase or they want nothing to do with them,
- 1:44Speaker 2: and then they come back around. Luckily, I'm still in
- 1:47Speaker 2: phase one of life.
- 1:49Speaker 1: True true. True. You know what else impresses your kids
- 1:52Speaker 1: and well one of your kids and then your other
- 1:54Speaker 1: kid is mad because they didn't get the opportunity to go,
- 1:57Speaker 1: is when you get to go meet the pope.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that would be something your kids
- 2:03Speaker 2: probably think you're pretty cool for.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, one of my kids got to go, so
- 2:07Speaker 1: my daughter got to go the older one. My son didn't,
- 2:09Speaker 1: he was playing summer baseball. But the White Sox, because
- 2:12Speaker 1: they're an awesome organization, had a cool giveaway last night.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I don't know if he saw this or now there's me.
- 2:18Speaker 1: That was Saturday night. Danny Bell, who used to work
- 2:20Speaker 1: at Fox was our guy. That was after the Pope
- 2:23Speaker 1: night or after Saturday night the Ozzie Gean retirement. I
- 2:26Speaker 1: had the popead on and people were super excited that
- 2:29Speaker 1: I got to take a picture of it. But last night,
- 2:31Speaker 1: the White Sox gave away forty thousand of these things
- 2:34Speaker 1: k forty thousand popeats.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It's pretty amazing. But I think in baseball timings everything,
- 2:42Speaker 2: I don't think anyone saw this team doing what they
- 2:46Speaker 2: were going to do this year. And you know, aj
- 2:49Speaker 2: sometimes you have a young team with a lot of
- 2:51Speaker 2: young players, they can get out of the gates pretty strong.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You know, youth is a pretty important thing early in
- 2:58Speaker 2: the season. A lot of people we're excited to be there.
- 3:01Speaker 2: People are playing for their jobs. But I don't think
- 3:03Speaker 2: anyone saw the Chicago White Sox kind of, you know,
- 3:08Speaker 2: maintaining the success that they've had this season. And I
- 3:11Speaker 2: think They've gone beyond everyone's wild wildest imaginations of what
- 3:15Speaker 2: they were able to do this season. And I mentioned timing,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you know, with Pope Leo, you know, taking over the
- 3:22Speaker 2: Vatican being a White Stocks fan, there's something magical going
- 3:26Speaker 2: on with this season. So I think the Pope pat
- 3:29Speaker 2: is very fitting for where this team is at, what
- 3:33Speaker 2: this team has been able to accomplish this year. And
- 3:37Speaker 2: you know what, agent I was on the day you
- 3:39Speaker 2: actually were visiting the Pope. I never kind of heard
- 3:42Speaker 2: fully about what that experience was. Like, I mean I
- 3:45Speaker 2: got I mean behind me right here you can see.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I got to meet a you know, former president. And
- 3:50Speaker 2: no matter how you feel about whatever party he represents,
- 3:53Speaker 2: like there's only so many living presidents in the world. Like,
- 3:56Speaker 2: if you get an opportunity to meet someone that important,
- 3:59Speaker 2: that famous, it's really the cool perk of the job
- 4:03Speaker 2: is sometimes our profession allows us to meet people like that.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I can only imagine what that feeling is like meeting
- 4:10Speaker 2: the Pope.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean he blessed my hat for me. In
- 4:13Speaker 1: case you can't see my hat, I'm wearing the pope hat.
- 4:15Speaker 1: They gave this to me. It's actually awesome. So peace
- 4:18Speaker 1: be with you, Kevin. I don't know if you saw this,
- 4:20Speaker 1: but they also did a Peace be with You where
- 4:21Speaker 1: everyone if you've ever been to Catholic Mass, everyone went to.
- 4:26Speaker 1: In Catholic Mass, they always do a moment where you're
- 4:28Speaker 1: supposed to turn around and meet your neighbors and they
- 4:30Speaker 1: call it. You know, you say peace be with you
- 4:31Speaker 1: to your neighbors at church, and last night the white
- 4:34Speaker 1: tux did that with forty two thousand people in the stands.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I thought it was an awesome night. Everything they did
- 4:39Speaker 1: was Pope inspired. Everything they did was just that way,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and no matter what you believe in or whatever, it's
- 4:46Speaker 1: cool to see forty two thousand people be able to
- 4:48Speaker 1: get behind anything. I mean, we have enough problems, I'm
- 4:51Speaker 1: sure with your kids trying to figure out what to
- 4:52Speaker 1: have for dinner that everyone likes. And yes, I mean
- 4:54Speaker 1: I played golf with multiple presidents. I've met multiple presidents,
- 4:58Speaker 1: been to the White House of multiple presidents. But to
- 5:00Speaker 1: go to the Vatican and meet the Pope was one
- 5:02Speaker 1: of the coolest experiences because, look, he's from Chicago, he's
- 5:06Speaker 1: a White Sox fan, and as someone that was raised Catholic,
- 5:09Speaker 1: to be able to meet the Pope. Again. I've said
- 5:11Speaker 1: this many times. I met more to my mom than
- 5:13Speaker 1: probably it did to me, which is fair or not
- 5:15Speaker 1: fair depending on how you want to look at it.
- 5:17Speaker 1: But it was one of those things that is life
- 5:19Speaker 1: changing because you look at it and say, damn, this
- 5:22Speaker 1: dude is pretty cool.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I think to your point too, regardless of what
- 5:29Speaker 2: religion you believe in, if you are religious, I think
- 5:31Speaker 2: anytime we can have forty thousand people at least saying
- 5:34Speaker 2: hi to their neighbors, whether they're blessing them or not,
- 5:37Speaker 2: but interacting with each other, all kind of being on
- 5:40Speaker 2: the same page. I don't think, you know, with the
- 5:42Speaker 2: world we live in, if we can just have you know,
- 5:44Speaker 2: even if it's that twenty seconds of good and maybe
- 5:48Speaker 2: a quarter of those people go out and do something
- 5:51Speaker 2: nice and there's this trickle down effects. So great job
- 5:55Speaker 2: by the Chicago White Sox for kind of having the
- 6:00Speaker 2: creativity to have the popat. Obviously the team is doing
- 6:03Speaker 2: something a lot of people in the baseball world didn't
- 6:06Speaker 2: expect them to do. Good on them for having that
- 6:08Speaker 2: moment to have, you know, people just interact with a
- 6:12Speaker 2: stranger and a neighbor, and the more good we can
- 6:15Speaker 2: have in this world, the better.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Well, I have to take the hat off now because Jeremy,
- 6:19Speaker 1: our director, is yelling at me. It's too tall. It's
- 6:22Speaker 1: too tall, KP. So I got to go back. I
- 6:24Speaker 1: got to go back to the regular hat. But that
- 6:26Speaker 1: is a nice souvenir that they gave me. They gave
- 6:28Speaker 1: it to me early. So and do you know what
- 6:29Speaker 1: this is called? Do you know what this hat is called?
- 6:32Speaker 2: The popat?
- 6:34Speaker 1: No, it's called a miter. It's called a miter. Yes,
- 6:36Speaker 1: it's cool. It looks kind of like an oven mad
- 6:38Speaker 1: if you look at it like this, like oh my
- 6:40Speaker 1: food is done, I should grab it. But double sided.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It even has a little tassels on it. So if
- 6:44Speaker 1: you're lucky enough to get one last night, White Sox fans,
- 6:48Speaker 1: peace be with you.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Let's talk fathletics, shall we. They have apparel for every season.
- 6:55Speaker 3: We're wearing it as we talk about it. It's soft,
- 6:58Speaker 3: it's comfortable. I wear it on the show sometimes on FT.
- 7:01Speaker 3: What else do you love about itcrats?
- 7:03Speaker 4: Well, I have it on right now and I'm all
- 7:05Speaker 4: about quality. But you know what, you know how good
- 7:08Speaker 4: your clothes are when you're a parent and your kids
- 7:11Speaker 4: keep stealing all of it. My daughter stole the sweatshirt,
- 7:15Speaker 4: my son sole one of my t shirts. So it's
- 7:18Speaker 4: got to be nice looking.
- 7:19Speaker 3: And if it gets a little bit chillier then it's
- 7:22Speaker 3: layering season and they've got layers for the fall. Shop
- 7:25Speaker 3: now at fabletics dot com, slash foul to get seventy
- 7:29Speaker 3: to eighty percent off everything when you sign up as
- 7:31Speaker 3: a new VIP. Take a quick style quiz and be
- 7:34Speaker 3: sure to select foul when prompted to unlock this offer.
- 7:38Speaker 3: This is a limited time offer, so do not wait again.
- 7:41Speaker 3: That's fabletics dot Com slash foul for seventy to eighty
- 7:46Speaker 3: percent off everything as a new VIP charge out.
- 7:54Speaker 1: All right, what do you think Let's go to the
- 7:55Speaker 1: other side. I mean, after talking to the Pope about
- 7:57Speaker 1: the Pope, it sounds sacrilegious kp to go to the
- 8:01Speaker 1: Cubs on the other side of town, the team. He
- 8:03Speaker 1: is not a fan of Cub fans. I'm sorry to
- 8:05Speaker 1: say that. I know he tried to claim him, but
- 8:07Speaker 1: he is a White Sox fan. So let's be real here.
- 8:10Speaker 1: But the Cubs are the seventy win club. They are
- 8:13Speaker 1: hot as all get out. PCA is probably the National
- 8:16Speaker 1: League MVP if I had a vote right now, he
- 8:18Speaker 1: is for me. The problem with the Cubs they're in
- 8:21Speaker 1: the same division as the Milwaukee Brewers, so they even
- 8:24Speaker 1: though they keep winning, and they keep winning, they keep winning,
- 8:26Speaker 1: they're finding it pretty hard to catch up and gain
- 8:29Speaker 1: ground on the Brewers. KP. How good do you think
- 8:31Speaker 1: the Cubs are and how dangerous are they in October?
- 8:34Speaker 2: I think they're really good and I know we'll get
- 8:37Speaker 2: to it later on the show. There's a couple injuries
- 8:40Speaker 2: with the Milwaukee Brewers, but you know, they're within striking
- 8:43Speaker 2: distance of the Brewers. And we've talked about the Brewers,
- 8:46Speaker 2: you know, pretty much all year about being, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 2: the best team in the National League besides the Dodgers,
- 8:52Speaker 2: and I think the Cubs have finally putting themselves in
- 8:55Speaker 2: a position where it's realistic to talk about them potentially
- 8:59Speaker 2: catching them Ackey Brewers. And I totally one hundred percent
- 9:02Speaker 2: agree with you if I had a vote to PCA
- 9:05Speaker 2: is the clear cut MVP in my opinion. What he's
- 9:08Speaker 2: been able to do, not only offensively, you know what
- 9:12Speaker 2: he brings to this team defensively every single night. His
- 9:15Speaker 2: ability to change the game on the base pass. I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 2: he's on pace to be easy thirty thirty. If he
- 9:21Speaker 2: gets real hot down the stretch, he might be a
- 9:23Speaker 2: forty to forty guy. You know, we're we're talking about
- 9:26Speaker 2: someone who even got off to a slow start this year,
- 9:29Speaker 2: but you know, potentially a generational talent. And you know,
- 9:33Speaker 2: I think this is what we always kind of expected
- 9:35Speaker 2: out of the Chicago Cubs when Alex Bredwyn decided to
- 9:39Speaker 2: leave Boston sign with the Chicago Cubs. I mean, he
- 9:42Speaker 2: is a winner everywhere he goes. He raises the floor
- 9:46Speaker 2: for every team and he makes everyone around them better.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And he necessarily hasn't performed up to his standards that
- 9:53Speaker 2: he believes for himself, but his presence is so important
- 9:57Speaker 2: any clubhouse he goes to. And the Clubs are also
- 10:00Speaker 2: a team that's been hampered by pitching injuries this year.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And you know, they.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Went out and they made kind of a you know,
- 10:08Speaker 2: under the radar move and got David Peterson, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 2: way before the official trade deadline. He's been great for them.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I know they got help coming. Cabrera is on his
- 10:19Speaker 2: way back, but you know, I think it's no surprise
- 10:22Speaker 2: that the Cubs you know, are really putting himself on
- 10:26Speaker 2: the map as a team that could not only catch
- 10:29Speaker 2: the Milwaukee Brewers. I think this is a team you
- 10:31Speaker 2: can really start, you know, kind of fantasizing about the
- 10:35Speaker 2: idea that they can have a long run in October.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Well, as a Cub fan, let's hope not okay, kap,
- 10:42Speaker 1: let's hope not. Let's hope. It's very short, sweet and
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's over with And know I'm just kidding, am I though?
- 10:48Speaker 1: But hey, here's the thing they have. Guess they have
- 10:50Speaker 1: Cabrera coming back. Peterson has been great. They've changed some
- 10:52Speaker 1: stuff with his delivery. I know when I was there,
- 10:54Speaker 1: he pitched Craig Council talked about kind of mixing up
- 10:57Speaker 1: the usage and doing some different stuff. There's still four
- 11:00Speaker 1: games back of the Brewers. They're playing great there. They're
- 11:02Speaker 1: gonna be in the playoffs. They're gonna at least be
- 11:04Speaker 1: a wild card if they don't catch the Brewers. They
- 11:07Speaker 1: if they get Palencia back, it'll be really nice because
- 11:10Speaker 1: that guy is really good when he's good. But their
- 11:12Speaker 1: schedule coming up is interesting to me. Three more versas
- 11:14Speaker 1: the thatts then that's say what you want, but they
- 11:17Speaker 1: fight you the does score some runs, they'll give up
- 11:19Speaker 1: a ton of runs. Three versus the Cardinals, we all
- 11:21Speaker 1: know about that rivalry. The Cardinals are still trying to
- 11:24Speaker 1: pretend like they're in this race. Right They're hoving around
- 11:26Speaker 1: five hundred, playing well under Ali Marmal. But then it
- 11:29Speaker 1: gets interesting. They play three versu. The White Sox at home, Okay,
- 11:33Speaker 1: first place team. That rivalry is great. And then they
- 11:37Speaker 1: go the West. This is where I think it's gonna
- 11:38Speaker 1: get interesting for them, and not for the playoffs, but
- 11:41Speaker 1: for the for the division. At Seattle. Seattle is gonna
- 11:44Speaker 1: have to win those games. And then at Arizona. And
- 11:46Speaker 1: if you've watched Arizona play lately, they are playing really,
- 11:50Speaker 1: really nice, so listen, I think the Cubs are gonna
- 11:52Speaker 1: be in the playoffs. I think the Cubs are very
- 11:54Speaker 1: dangerous because the way they catch the ball and the
- 11:58Speaker 1: offense that they can score, because they can really score
- 12:00Speaker 1: some runs if they get any sort of pitching and
- 12:02Speaker 1: they get showeda to stop giving up home runs and
- 12:04Speaker 1: they get some of their other guys, their starters to
- 12:06Speaker 1: step up and be good. I mean, they just got
- 12:08Speaker 1: Clay Holmes, they just got Kevin Gosman, who you know
- 12:10Speaker 1: very well, right, they have from some formidable dudes. I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think the Cubs are really dangerous to the entire National League.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we're gonna find out. Like you said,
- 12:20Speaker 2: I think there's no doubt in my mind that the
- 12:22Speaker 2: Cubs are a postseason team, how they come out of
- 12:25Speaker 2: this stretch and once again the Nats a team that's
- 12:28Speaker 2: really really overachieved this year. They are extremely dangerous offense,
- 12:32Speaker 2: They play the game the right way. You know, they
- 12:35Speaker 2: got great young leadership and do terror there. They're they're
- 12:39Speaker 2: a fun team to watch and although on paper the
- 12:41Speaker 2: Cubs are a much better team that than Nots, just
- 12:44Speaker 2: do a lot of things right. You know, they're there.
- 12:47Speaker 2: If you don't go out there and pitch, well, they're
- 12:49Speaker 2: gonna make you pay. And then you talked about, you know,
- 12:52Speaker 2: just the rivalry with the Cardinals and then obviously the
- 12:55Speaker 2: crosstown rival with the Chicago White soxup playing great baseball.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Then you talk about that West Coast trip. I think
- 13:01Speaker 2: we're going to find out right now how much Creig
- 13:04Speaker 2: Council decides to you know, after this road trip. I
- 13:08Speaker 2: think we're going to find out just Creig Council kind
- 13:10Speaker 2: of push all of his chips in and do they
- 13:12Speaker 2: try to win the Vision and at the expense of
- 13:15Speaker 2: potentially having guys in the bullpen go three days in
- 13:18Speaker 2: a row, three out of four. You know, how they
- 13:20Speaker 2: manage their starting pitching, how they kind of manage these
- 13:24Speaker 2: games is going to be pretty clear after this upcoming
- 13:29Speaker 2: stretch of games. You know, if they're able to win
- 13:32Speaker 2: a majority of those games, I think they put the
- 13:34Speaker 2: pedal down. They try to win the division, put themselves
- 13:37Speaker 2: in a better situation to potentially have that first round
- 13:40Speaker 2: by in the postseason. If they kind of are mediocre
- 13:45Speaker 2: during this stretch, you know, I think they are a
- 13:48Speaker 2: little bit more conservative with their approach. Make the postseason,
- 13:51Speaker 2: make sure you're not limping in down the stretch, keep
- 13:54Speaker 2: some guys healthy, keep some guys in the back end
- 13:56Speaker 2: of the bullpen fresh. But I think we'll know a
- 13:58Speaker 2: lot after this three, three, six, nine to twelve, fifteen
- 14:02Speaker 2: eighteen game stretch.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they don't want to have what happened last year, right,
- 14:07Speaker 1: Remember Matthew Boyd had started on short rest and then
- 14:10Speaker 1: he had to do it again against the Brewers and
- 14:12Speaker 1: their pitching was all a mess. They'd like to get
- 14:14Speaker 1: to a point where they have them lined up. Now,
- 14:16Speaker 1: they would love to get a buy and not have
- 14:18Speaker 1: to worry about that in the first round, but at
- 14:20Speaker 1: the end of the day, they want all their pitching
- 14:22Speaker 1: lined up. I mean, they have Carera coming back, Ben
- 14:24Speaker 1: Brown hopefully coming back on her, Harvey coming back at
- 14:26Speaker 1: some point. They have dudes coming back. It's gonna be interesting,
- 14:30Speaker 1: is how Craig council works them all back in while trying,
- 14:34Speaker 1: like you said, to win the division. There are injuries
- 14:37Speaker 1: on the Brewers side also that we've talked about. So
- 14:40Speaker 1: it's gonna just the whole thing is is fun. It's fun.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It's fun when the Cubs are trying to win. It's
- 14:47Speaker 1: good for baseball when the Cubs are trying to win
- 14:49Speaker 1: because it keeps, especially when the Cubs and White Sox
- 14:51Speaker 1: are trying to win. Because in Chicago it is a
- 14:54Speaker 1: summer thing and they get behind one team or the other.
- 14:58Speaker 1: People say they root for both. Not really supposed to
- 15:00Speaker 1: do that, but the Bulls, the black Hawks, the Bears.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Chicago can root for all those teams, but in Chicago
- 15:06Speaker 1: those two teams are split. It's a little bit more
- 15:09Speaker 1: Cub heavy than it is White Sox heavy, that's fine.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But when they're both good and now they're both going
- 15:13Speaker 1: to play each other trying to win, it's awesome. So
- 15:16Speaker 1: it's crazy.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Where are these next three games? Are they at Wrigley?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Were they at They're at Wrigley, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:25Speaker 1: because it's.
- 15:26Speaker 2: His first they played.
- 15:27Speaker 1: They played at the White Sox and the White Sox one. Okay,
- 15:30Speaker 1: that was the PCA. Remember PCA got yelled at by
- 15:33Speaker 1: the fan and told me he had some night choice
- 15:36Speaker 1: words for her because she told him he sucks. And
- 15:39Speaker 1: then he I think they called him PC triple A
- 15:41Speaker 1: and he didn't like that very much. Whatever, so fine.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm sure I never said anything mean to a Cup
- 15:46Speaker 1: fan either anyway. So anyways, if you want more Cubs talk,
- 15:49Speaker 1: check out Northside Territory.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Science Experiment for the one minute we had to tell
- 15:55Speaker 3: you about why we love Quint's electrolytes, including watermelon salt,
- 15:59Speaker 3: raspberry salt, and I'm holding a citrus salt, just opened
- 16:02Speaker 3: it and to pour some powder into my water, shake
- 16:05Speaker 3: it up, and AJ, why do you love it?
- 16:06Speaker 1: I love Quints because after a long night out, a
- 16:09Speaker 1: long day at the gym, a long walk in this
- 16:11Speaker 1: Florida humidity. It tastes great and it gives me all
- 16:13Speaker 1: the electrolytes I need. Why sugar free Steavy a free
- 16:18Speaker 1: Keto approve and taste sweet because of that delicious fermented rice.
- 16:24Speaker 3: It does taste really good. I'm drinking it right now
- 16:27Speaker 3: while we talking about it. It's also made in the USA,

- 16:52Speaker 1: Kyp, I'm sure you saw this. You're an Angel's legend.
- 16:54Speaker 1: John Mozal said the primary reason to make changes was
- 16:57Speaker 1: because the pitching coaches weren't sufficiently using the technology available.
- 17:01Speaker 1: He said. The hitting coaches are also said no more
- 17:04Speaker 1: firings during the season. Well, the season's almost over for
- 17:07Speaker 1: the Angels. Actually was over in about April, so it
- 17:09Speaker 1: can't really fire anybody else. What's interesting to me about
- 17:12Speaker 1: Mike Maddocks and the pitching coaches John Cheaty getting fired
- 17:15Speaker 1: are that John Mozelak had Mike Maddocks in Saint Louis,
- 17:19Speaker 1: he knew what he was about. He probably could have
- 17:20Speaker 1: gone to him and talked to him. But what technology
- 17:23Speaker 1: weren't they using? Wow? Is there something that I'm missing
- 17:25Speaker 1: that most organizations are using that maybe Mike Maddicks hadn't
- 17:30Speaker 1: heard of before.
- 17:31Speaker 2: No, he's probably familiar with all the technology, whether he
- 17:35Speaker 2: was using the technologies or not. And I think the
- 17:37Speaker 2: story came out with Redetmers wanting to use a track
- 17:40Speaker 2: man and a bullpen something along those lines. And maybe
- 17:44Speaker 2: it wasn't something that they were setting up every bullpen
- 17:46Speaker 2: in order to you know, track movement of the pitches
- 17:50Speaker 2: and velocities and spin rates and all that stuff that
- 17:55Speaker 2: you know we have the ability to track now. But yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 2: there's The angels are very interesting to me because obviously
- 18:01Speaker 2: Perry Manasien was there and he was a probably hired
- 18:05Speaker 2: He probably hired Mike Maddox. But I think the reason
- 18:08Speaker 2: you probably go out and get a Mike maddox is
- 18:10Speaker 2: because of his track record and his resume of being
- 18:14Speaker 2: able to work wonders with pitchers and and a little
- 18:16Speaker 2: bit more of that old school mentality of probably using
- 18:20Speaker 2: his eyeballs, probably using his experience to try to get
- 18:23Speaker 2: guys back on track.
- 18:25Speaker 1: The Rays are real. The Rays are real, and they
- 18:28Speaker 1: are a real threat to go to the World Series
- 18:30Speaker 1: in the American League. Any thoughts on what Nick Martinez
- 18:33Speaker 1: is doing at thirty six and how good the Rays are.
- 18:37Speaker 2: That's amazing. You know, the Rays always finds someone like
- 18:40Speaker 2: a Nick Martinez who has been a very valuable starter
- 18:44Speaker 2: in the games, and he's actually been a valuable swingman
- 18:46Speaker 2: for a lot of teams. He kind of fits any role.
- 18:49Speaker 2: But I think anytime you're a free agent in the
- 18:51Speaker 2: race call, especially as a starting pitcher or a guy
- 18:54Speaker 2: in the bullpen, your ears perk up. They have an
- 18:56Speaker 2: unique way of getting the best out of their guys.
- 19:00Speaker 2: But you know, obviously covering the Blue Jays, you you,
- 19:05Speaker 2: you know, when the season started, we kind of go
- 19:07Speaker 2: team by team in the American League East and you
- 19:09Speaker 2: talk about, you know, the additions that Boston made, You
- 19:13Speaker 2: talk about what the Orioles did, the Yankees are always
- 19:15Speaker 2: the Yankees, and then you kind of always forget about
- 19:17Speaker 2: the Rays. But there's this idea that you can never
- 19:20Speaker 2: really count the Rays out. You don't know how good
- 19:22Speaker 2: they're gonna be, but you know they're gonna be relevant.
- 19:24Speaker 2: But the Rays are just an amazing organization. They're a
- 19:28Speaker 2: team that every year, you know, whether it's people like
- 19:33Speaker 2: me that cover other teams in the division, whether it's
- 19:36Speaker 2: people that put out the projections for the year, they
- 19:39Speaker 2: always undervalue the Rays. And what Kevin Cash has been
- 19:42Speaker 2: able to do, you know what Motor's been able to
- 19:44Speaker 2: do as the hitting coach there. It's pretty amazing in
- 19:47Speaker 2: the game of baseball to have a hitting coach that's
- 19:49Speaker 2: been there for so many years.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Now, it appears that Nick Kurtz we will return unlikely
- 19:56Speaker 1: excuse me that Nick Kurtz will return the season after
- 19:58Speaker 1: receiving a PRP and JET that requires a brace for
- 20:01Speaker 1: four weeks. Per Martin diegos Marcotsee, you probably can do
- 20:05Speaker 1: the timeline and think through the scenarios in front of us.
- 20:07Speaker 1: For Nick, well, this is a big loss. The A
- 20:09Speaker 1: suck that's not sugarcoat at the a's are not good.
- 20:12Speaker 1: The Athletics, whatever they're called or not good. Losing Kurts
- 20:15Speaker 1: has been a huge blow for them. He is the
- 20:18Speaker 1: middle of their lineup, guy that hits homers, gets on
- 20:21Speaker 1: bass walks, and I mean, the season's over for the Athletics,
- 20:24Speaker 1: but nice tank top. Yeah.
- 20:27Speaker 2: To me, this is the clear obvious choice. Keep him healthy.
- 20:31Speaker 2: You know, my favorite thing about Nick Kurtz is I
- 20:34Speaker 2: can't sit here and say I watch a ton of
- 20:35Speaker 2: A's games, especially when they're on the West Coast. You know,
- 20:38Speaker 2: I'm here in Central Time, I got young kids, I
- 20:40Speaker 2: go to bed, but I love waking up in the
- 20:43Speaker 2: morning and seeing what Nick Kurtz has done. He's one
- 20:45Speaker 2: of the best players in the game his ability to
- 20:48Speaker 2: get on base, but when he gets a pitch to
- 20:50Speaker 2: hit and he doesn't miss it. He hit some of
- 20:53Speaker 2: the furthest home runs in the game. And I really
- 20:56Speaker 2: look forward to when he's healthy, waking up in the morning,
- 20:59Speaker 2: drinking my coffee and just seeing what Nick Kurtz did.
- 21:04Speaker 1: True, true, he's a star. He's going to be a star.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Let's hope he gets healthy for next year in his
- 21:08Speaker 1: back because this dude has the ability to hit fifty
- 21:10Speaker 1: plus homers, especially if they keep playing in that bandbox
- 21:13Speaker 1: in a Sacramento and he walked like how many I
- 21:15Speaker 1: forget how many games in a row? He walked like
- 21:17Speaker 1: over and over. It was cool to see how many
- 21:19Speaker 1: teams were actually afraid to pitch to somebody on the athletics.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So get well, Nick Kurtz, all right, KP. People are
- 21:36Speaker 1: sick of it, People are sick of talking about a
- 21:38Speaker 1: certain team out west. But did you see who returned
- 21:41Speaker 1: for the Los Angeles Dodgers last night?
- 21:44Speaker 2: Snell Zilla?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Did you see how he did? Did you see how
- 21:48Speaker 1: he did a smart standing bunch of tickets? Look at
- 21:52Speaker 1: that line.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a it's a look at man. The Dodgers
- 21:56Speaker 2: do everything right. You know, I'm gonna get criticized for it,
- 21:59Speaker 2: because you know, the Dodgers, the Dodgers are ruining baseball,
- 22:02Speaker 2: but they love winning. They're obsessed with winning. And you
- 22:06Speaker 2: got to give them a ton of credit with some
- 22:08Speaker 2: of the guys that they've had filling in in that rotation.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Why guys like Snell and Glass now have been out.
- 22:14Speaker 2: But you know it's crazy. You know, Snell was pretty
- 22:19Speaker 2: much ran into the ground during that postseason stretch, especially
- 22:21Speaker 2: in that world series. You know, he was the guy
- 22:24Speaker 2: aside from Yamamoto, that was the most consistent guy in
- 22:27Speaker 2: that rotation. They asked him to come out of the bullpen.
- 22:31Speaker 2: But getting him back at this point of the season
- 22:33Speaker 2: healthy for what they're trying to accomplish this season is
- 22:37Speaker 2: just an embarrassment of riches. But you know, good on
- 22:40Speaker 2: the Dodgers for going out and spending money and getting
- 22:43Speaker 2: guys like Blake Snell and then also being okay with
- 22:46Speaker 2: the fact that you're gonna be without him for majority
- 22:49Speaker 2: of the season, but you're getting him back for what
- 22:52Speaker 2: Dodger fans would consider is when their seasons are really
- 22:55Speaker 2: about to start right now down the stretch, kind of
- 22:57Speaker 2: getting a little bit of momentum going into the postseason.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But you know, he's honestly, I had I had the
- 23:04Speaker 2: fortune of facing him a ton of my career. The
- 23:07Speaker 2: year that he won his first cy Young with Tampa.
- 23:11Speaker 2: He was the best pitcher I'd ever faced at any
- 23:13Speaker 2: point if my big league career was Blake Snell during
- 23:16Speaker 2: that second half of his first cy Young.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I mean, listen, he was pretty good. Ten punchy, six innings,
- 23:23Speaker 1: three hits, one run. This is what they got him
- 23:25Speaker 1: for But you know what's funny, the Dodgers bullpen still
- 23:28Speaker 1: blew the lead and Max Mounts he had to rescue
- 23:30Speaker 1: him in the bottom of the tenth with the walk
- 23:32Speaker 1: off at Max Mounsey, one of our FT favorites. The
- 23:36Speaker 1: Dodgers bullpen, even with Edwin Diaz back, has been something
- 23:41Speaker 1: this year. I don't really even know what to call.
- 23:45Speaker 2: It's pretty crazy because you know, they went out and
- 23:47Speaker 2: got you know, quote unquote or arguably the best reliever
- 23:51Speaker 2: in baseball who was available in free agency and obviously
- 23:55Speaker 2: someone who was in the you know, stadiums for the
- 23:59Speaker 2: World Series. They didn't rely on that bullpen a whole lot.
- 24:02Speaker 2: It was just kind of recycled starter starters coming out
- 24:05Speaker 2: of that bullpen. They moved Tyler Glasstaw out of the
- 24:07Speaker 2: rotation to be in the bullpen, and on paper, they
- 24:11Speaker 2: went out and kind of went out and got Edwin Diaz,
- 24:14Speaker 2: you know, to kind of, you know, solve their bullpen issues.
- 24:18Speaker 2: And you know, he hasn't been great this year, he
- 24:21Speaker 2: hasn't been healthy this year. You know, if there is
- 24:24Speaker 2: an Achilles heel for this team, it is that bullpen.
- 24:27Speaker 2: But once again, if you saw what they did in
- 24:30Speaker 2: the postseason last year, especially in the World Series, with
- 24:33Speaker 2: guys like Snell coming back, with guys like Glass now
- 24:36Speaker 2: coming back, being potentially able to take some of these
- 24:39Speaker 2: guys that are in their rotation right now put them
- 24:42Speaker 2: in the bullpen. I guess we'll wait and find out,
- 24:45Speaker 2: but that has kind of been their achilles heel, if
- 24:48Speaker 2: they have one, is kind of the consistency of that bullpen.
- 24:51Speaker 3: This is that time of year, Aja, it is Baseball's
- 24:54Speaker 3: time to shine, and it is Sea Geeks time to
- 24:57Speaker 3: shine with MLB tickets and find the best pricing, seating
- 25:02Speaker 3: and games that are even sold out available on sea Geek.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest matchups
- 25:09Speaker 1: coming up. We have Yankees Cubs coming up. Where's Yankees
- 25:12Speaker 1: Red Sox? That means stuff Again, there's some big moments
- 25:15Speaker 1: that are coming up here in the as the penachases
- 25:17Speaker 1: really heat up. Go to Seke can find those green
- 25:20Speaker 1: tickets with the best deals and get yourself out to
- 25:23Speaker 1: an MLB game.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're straightforward with you. They will actually put
- 25:27Speaker 3: a red dot next to a ticket that they don't
- 25:30Speaker 3: feel is your best.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Look.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Green dot means very good code for you. It's Territory
- 25:37Speaker 3: ten ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets
- 25:40Speaker 3: at Sea Gek. That's ten percent off MLB tickets when
- 25:43Speaker 3: you use the promo code Territory one zero. Make sure
- 25:46Speaker 3: you click the link in the description to download the
- 25:48Speaker 3: app and have the code automatically added to your account
- 25:50Speaker 3: so you can use it later.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, Glassdow's going to be back shortly, they're saying,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I don't know when. They're saying. He's going to make
- 25:58Speaker 1: a rehab start on fret with OKC or he and
- 26:02Speaker 1: then he's four in in sixty pitches. Glassnow make one
- 26:04Speaker 1: more rehab start after Friday. So in the next two
- 26:07Speaker 1: weeks we're gonna see Tyler Glass now, Blake snell, Yamamoto, Scooble, Sazaki,
- 26:15Speaker 1: Lower Robleski, Sandy kofax, Don Drysdale, Jackie Robinson my pitch,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I mean.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Might come back.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I mean it's insane, right, it is insane. But they
- 26:30Speaker 1: have not been playing very well. Yes, they've beat in
- 26:32Speaker 1: the Royals the last couple of days, but before that
- 26:34Speaker 1: they have not been playing very well. So I don't know.
- 26:36Speaker 1: It's gonna be interesting to see how it's gonna go
- 26:40Speaker 1: with the rest of the season with all these weapons
- 26:43Speaker 1: for the Dodgers, but somehow Dave Roberts figures it out
- 26:45Speaker 1: and the Dodgers is gonna be fine. Let's talk Paul
- 26:47Speaker 1: Skins here for a second. KP. I don't know if
- 26:49Speaker 1: you watched him pitch last night, but he only went
- 26:51Speaker 1: five innings, I think, only through sixty five pitches. We've
- 26:54Speaker 1: had people on here talking about how his velocity is
- 26:57Speaker 1: down and how it's not where it needs to be
- 27:00Speaker 1: and he is not striking a lot of guys out.
- 27:02Speaker 1: You see five innings, only four k's. He took a
- 27:04Speaker 1: loss last night, tough loss, and didn't score any run.
- 27:07Speaker 1: It's hard to win when he zero runs. But I
- 27:09Speaker 1: think the most important thing in this graphic, only sixty
- 27:12Speaker 1: five pitches last night. Are they trying to save him
- 27:14Speaker 1: for something? Aren't they trying to make the playoffs? I
- 27:16Speaker 1: don't understand why. And Matt Presser asked Paul Skins if
- 27:20Speaker 1: he was surprised being pulled out for sixty five pitches.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Not really. If I were the manager, I'd probably do
- 27:24Speaker 1: it too. Wish I could have gone more, but it
- 27:26Speaker 1: is what it is, and people are questioning is he hurt?
- 27:30Speaker 1: Is Paul skins, hurt KP.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there's so many layers to this. We
- 27:34Speaker 2: don't know. He hasn't come out and said it. The
- 27:36Speaker 2: team hasn't come out and say it. He hasn't had
- 27:39Speaker 2: a great year. But he's also set the bar so
- 27:41Speaker 2: incredibly high for himself. You know, obviously, when he's a
- 27:46Speaker 2: velocity guy, he's a stuff guy, and when he isn't
- 27:50Speaker 2: really sitting at that high velocity, the first thing you
- 27:54Speaker 2: ask yourself is is he hurt? You know, and he's
- 27:57Speaker 2: just so good that he was able to get through
- 27:59Speaker 2: that start, you know, despite not having his best stuff
- 28:03Speaker 2: but only sixty five pitches and you look at his
- 28:05Speaker 2: numbers nine to eleven, you kind of throw out the
- 28:07Speaker 2: record a little bit. I'm not a big record guy
- 28:10Speaker 2: because you're really dependent on your offense a little bit.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You know, the innings is significantly down for him, you know,
- 28:16Speaker 2: the strikeouts, the innings probably a little bit down. You know,
- 28:20Speaker 2: he's always going to be a command guy. The walks
- 28:22Speaker 2: isn't a concern, but yeah, I think there's time to
- 28:24Speaker 2: be a little bit concerned on whether he's fully healthy.
- 28:28Speaker 2: If you know, season three for him, there's just kind
- 28:31Speaker 2: of a little bit of wear and tear. The natural
- 28:34Speaker 2: regression has taken over, you know, But is this also
- 28:38Speaker 2: a sign from the Pirates that this was a team
- 28:42Speaker 2: that I was really high on. I love the moves
- 28:44Speaker 2: that they made this offseason. You know, we talked about
- 28:46Speaker 2: their starting pitching depth. They go out and get a
- 28:48Speaker 2: Brandon Lao, you know, they go out and get a
- 28:50Speaker 2: Ryan O'Hearn. You know, they start to kind of come
- 28:54Speaker 2: together as an offense and be a team that has
- 28:58Speaker 2: really stayed relevant for a long time. I'm in terms
- 29:01Speaker 2: of wildcard position, but they faded a little bit, and
- 29:06Speaker 2: you know they're down there six games back, a lot
- 29:09Speaker 2: of teams to overcome. The Cubs are kind of a
- 29:12Speaker 2: runaway train. The Diamondbacks are playing unbelievable, The Padres have
- 29:16Speaker 2: played better recently, and the Philadelphia Phillies are a great
- 29:19Speaker 2: team as well. Are they kind of at a point
- 29:22Speaker 2: where they're throwing in the towel a little bit? And
- 29:25Speaker 2: is this the first sign of them throwing in the towel? Like, hey, Paul,
- 29:30Speaker 2: you're gonna be throwing sixty five seventy pitches the rest
- 29:32Speaker 2: of the year. We don't have a chance to win
- 29:36Speaker 2: a roads or we don't have a chance to go
- 29:37Speaker 2: to the postseason. You're not having the type of season
- 29:40Speaker 2: you had last year. You're not really pitching for much either.
- 29:42Speaker 2: You're not gonna win a cy Young this year. Maybe
- 29:45Speaker 2: this is the first sign of them kind of throwing
- 29:47Speaker 2: in the towel a little bit on their season.
- 29:51Speaker 1: The biggest concern is the velocity. For me, the velosity
- 29:53Speaker 1: is down now. He never he didn't hit ninety seven
- 29:56Speaker 1: last night, and no point did he hit In July
- 29:59Speaker 1: of twenty twenty four he was almost ninety nine miles
- 30:02Speaker 1: an hour, and then twenty five he was ninety eight
- 30:04Speaker 1: point two. So not to not throw a pitch above
- 30:06Speaker 1: ninety seven is the biggest glaring weakness for me with
- 30:10Speaker 1: Paul Skens. And he says he's not hurt. The Pirates
- 30:13Speaker 1: say he's not hurt, and I guess he's not hurt.
- 30:14Speaker 1: But man, it's just a difference when you're used to
- 30:17Speaker 1: seeing Paul Paul Skins throw, you know, ninety eight to
- 30:20Speaker 1: one hundred, and now he can't even hit ninety seven.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I know what happens, but Paul Skins atet that old KP.
- 30:25Speaker 1: They protected him, remember, they only let him throw a
- 30:28Speaker 1: certain amount of innings and a certain amount of innings,
- 30:29Speaker 1: a certain amountings, and also he was a catcher. He
- 30:32Speaker 1: wasn't a pitcher his whole life. So I don't know
- 30:35Speaker 1: that's the that's the biggest red flag for me, I
- 30:37Speaker 1: should say, even though I mean velocity is his.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I would say there's gonna be a lot of eyeballs
- 30:44Speaker 2: on his next start, you know, because you know, I
- 30:47Speaker 2: saw it a little bit earlier this year with a
- 30:49Speaker 2: Dylancy start. He came out first inning, wasn't thrown with
- 30:52Speaker 2: a lot of velocity, you know, early on in the game,
- 30:54Speaker 2: he wasn't thrown with a ton of velocity. He ended
- 30:57Speaker 2: up getting it back a little bit later in the game.
- 30:59Speaker 2: He end up throwing a one hit her in Boston
- 31:00Speaker 2: that game, by the way, And then his next start,
- 31:03Speaker 2: he came out and was sitting at that high velocity,
- 31:06Speaker 2: and he talked about after the game he just didn't
- 31:09Speaker 2: feel fully lose. He felt like mechanically he was off
- 31:11Speaker 2: a little bit founded as he started throwing some more pitches.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But I definitely think there's a level of concern. He's
- 31:18Speaker 2: not saying anything, the team's not saying anything, but I think,
- 31:22Speaker 2: you know, four days from now, when he goes out
- 31:24Speaker 2: and takes them ount again, I think there will be
- 31:26Speaker 2: a lot of eyeballs on his velocity. And I think
- 31:30Speaker 2: we'll know more when he touches the rubber again.
- 31:33Speaker 1: True, true, So we'll see, we'll see, we'll see what
- 31:37Speaker 1: happens with Paul Skans. This is what This is what happens.
- 31:39Speaker 1: This is why we always used to say, with expectations. Right,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you go out cal Rawly, hit sixty homers, everyone expects
- 31:44Speaker 1: you to hit sixty homers. The next year you're Paul Skins,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you win Rookie of the Year, you win this cy
- 31:48Speaker 1: Young they expect you to win the SIG every year.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Not everywhere ear goes perfectly. Things pop up, things, things happen.
- 31:55Speaker 1: So this is this is what happens with expectations. Kpe
- 31:58Speaker 1: speaking of expectation it Jeremy Meyer, our director, he thought
- 32:02Speaker 1: the Red Sox were never going to lose again. They
- 32:04Speaker 1: went twenty seven to three. How they've lost four straight,
- 32:07Speaker 1: including two to your Toronto Blue Jays, even after trying
- 32:10Speaker 1: to even after the Blue Jays had to get four
- 32:12Speaker 1: outs in an inning, they still lost that game two
- 32:15Speaker 1: to one. So what's going on with the Red Sox?
- 32:16Speaker 1: They've stopped hitting completely, especially with runners in scoring position.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Nothing is going on. And I love the segue because
- 32:25Speaker 2: when you do some incredible things in the game, it
- 32:27Speaker 2: becomes the expectation from fans. When you're an individual and
- 32:31Speaker 2: you go out and win Rookie of the Year, Sy Young,
- 32:33Speaker 2: that's the expectation for you. When you were a team
- 32:36Speaker 2: and you have a twenty seven and three stretch in
- 32:39Speaker 2: thirty games, which is unheard of in this game, the
- 32:43Speaker 2: expectations you're never going to lose. But the way that
- 32:45Speaker 2: I see this is, yes, they stopped hitting with the
- 32:48Speaker 2: runners in scoring position, but they're three for thirty six
- 32:52Speaker 2: over their last four games. To have thirty six guys
- 32:54Speaker 2: on base over a four game stretch in scoring position
- 32:58Speaker 2: tells you that they're not that far off from continuing
- 33:01Speaker 2: that streak. What people don't understand in the game of baseball,
- 33:05Speaker 2: in order to go twenty seven and three over a
- 33:08Speaker 2: thirty game stretch, you're coming up with big hits consistently,
- 33:12Speaker 2: and it's not like the Red Sox didn't have opportunities
- 33:15Speaker 2: to come up with that big hit. That's the margins
- 33:18Speaker 2: that you play at at the major league level is
- 33:20Speaker 2: one hit here, or there. Over these last couple games
- 33:22Speaker 2: against Toronto, which by the way, we're one and two
- 33:25Speaker 2: run games. We're talking about this team going on the
- 33:28Speaker 2: most historic run in the history of baseball. But I'm
- 33:32Speaker 2: not super concerned with where they're at. And when you
- 33:35Speaker 2: do go twenty seven and three over a stretch, you
- 33:39Speaker 2: think about all those kind of moments that allowed you
- 33:42Speaker 2: to win a game, these hits that you came up with,
- 33:44Speaker 2: these plays defensively, like, the margins are so thin between
- 33:48Speaker 2: a win and a loss in the major leagues, and
- 33:50Speaker 2: to have this expectation that they're going to just continue
- 33:54Speaker 2: to go at a twenty seven and three pace over
- 33:56Speaker 2: their next thirty games is unrealistic. But as a person,
- 33:59Speaker 2: if I was a Red Sox fan someone that's covering
- 34:01Speaker 2: the Red Sox, I look at that number three for
- 34:04Speaker 2: thirty six and I'm still very optimistic on what they
- 34:08Speaker 2: were able to achieve over this stretch of the thirty
- 34:11Speaker 2: games is not that far away. You know, if we
- 34:13Speaker 2: were looking at a four game losing streak where maybe
- 34:16Speaker 2: they only had ten runners on base, there would be
- 34:18Speaker 2: some concern. But they're getting the guys on it's just
- 34:21Speaker 2: a matter of getting them in and sometimes it's the
- 34:23Speaker 2: difference between winning a game and losing a game.
- 34:27Speaker 1: True, the margins are very small, and they're supposed to
- 34:29Speaker 1: be getting Roman Anthony back Allegedly soon he's progressed to
- 34:33Speaker 1: hitting off a traject machine. He was hitting off a
- 34:35Speaker 1: te Now he's moved up to a traject machine. You
- 34:38Speaker 1: know what that means, KP. He'll be back within a
- 34:39Speaker 1: couple of days. Because the traject machine is just like
- 34:42Speaker 1: playing in a major league game. We'll see. I don't know,
- 34:46Speaker 1: I've never hit off a traject machine, but I can't
- 34:48Speaker 1: imagine that it's I mean, I'm sure the stuff coming
- 34:51Speaker 1: out of it is the same, but it's not the
- 34:52Speaker 1: same as going out there and having a play.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, but it is. It recreates the game
- 34:58Speaker 2: in terms of movement and stuff, but nothing replaces the adrenaline,
- 35:03Speaker 2: the heartbeat, the situations that games call for, and you're
- 35:07Speaker 2: not always going to get that going on a minor
- 35:09Speaker 2: league rehab assignment. But when you're a prideful guy and
- 35:12Speaker 2: you care and there's certain things that come up in
- 35:14Speaker 2: a game and you have to execute those things in
- 35:17Speaker 2: a game, you can't replace that with traject But I
- 35:21Speaker 2: do as someone who used the traject I do like
- 35:23Speaker 2: it as kind of a supplemental of kind of speeding
- 35:27Speaker 2: up that curve when you've missed so much time, especially
- 35:30Speaker 2: for guys that are not playing every single day, to
- 35:32Speaker 2: kind of keep them in the rhythm of the game.
- 35:34Speaker 2: It's great, but you know, the game's gone in a
- 35:38Speaker 2: little bit different direction. There's probably guys that can only
- 35:41Speaker 2: hit off the traject machine and completely skip a rehab assignment.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Especially for how long Roman's been out. You know, like
- 35:48Speaker 2: you said, it's not unrealistic for him to come back,
- 35:51Speaker 2: you know, very soon without even potentially going on a
- 35:54Speaker 2: rehab assignment.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Watching the Blue Jays game, it's from Joey Vado, glad
- 35:58Speaker 1: he's just not back leg or back hitping balls. His
- 36:01Speaker 1: forward move is delaying his barrel from snapping in place.
- 36:04Speaker 1: He sees the ball, knows it's drivable, but his move
- 36:06Speaker 1: causes the bat to lie, keeps him from getting the
- 36:09Speaker 1: barrel to the bull's eye. Agree. I don't know. Teacher
- 36:13Speaker 1: Man probably agrees with the snap, but I don't know
- 36:14Speaker 1: about the other stuff. KP. Do you agree, because it's
- 36:17Speaker 1: amazing that Laddie has struggled this much, especially at home.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Yeah, once again. I mean we're just talking about the difficulty,
- 36:24Speaker 2: the gain, the margins, and the expectations that you kind
- 36:28Speaker 2: of set for yourself when you're a player like Laddie.
- 36:31Speaker 2: People don't ever expect for you to struggle. And I'm
- 36:34Speaker 2: still a little bit, you know, flabbergasted over the fact
- 36:38Speaker 2: that a guy that talented has seven home runs, he
- 36:41Speaker 2: has a six ninety four ops. Honestly, those look like
- 36:44Speaker 2: my numbers.
- 36:45Speaker 1: You know.
- 36:45Speaker 2: And this is a seven hundred million dollar guy who
- 36:48Speaker 2: is the face of the franchise. You never really expect
- 36:51Speaker 2: to see it. The fact he hasn't hit a home
- 36:52Speaker 2: run at home the entire season is wild to me
- 36:57Speaker 2: as far as Joey Vodo's comments. And it's funny because
- 36:59Speaker 2: I was on a show in Toronto yesterday and the
- 37:02Speaker 2: question they asked me is, if you had some advice
- 37:05Speaker 2: for Vladdie to work on in the off season, what
- 37:07Speaker 2: would you tell him to work on it? And I honestly
- 37:09Speaker 2: didn't even really know how to answer that question. Later
- 37:11Speaker 2: that night, Joey Vado comes out and says what he says,
- 37:15Speaker 2: and I'm taking what Joey Vado has to say about hitting,
- 37:19Speaker 2: you know, like the Bible. This is one of the
- 37:21Speaker 2: greatest hitters that I ever got to put my eyes on.
- 37:25Speaker 2: He understands his swing, he understands how mcswing mechanics work.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I'm a little iffy about the snap, but I understand
- 37:33Speaker 2: what he's saying. You know, he probably could have used
- 37:34Speaker 2: a different word.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I know.
- 37:35Speaker 3: This is a busy time of year for many of you,
- 37:37Speaker 3: including AJ. When you're home, you need everything to get

- 38:40Speaker 1: what he said.
- 38:41Speaker 3: That's what he said.
- 38:45Speaker 5: People miss you.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I think, maybe not necessarily the city, it doesn't, but
- 38:49Speaker 1: people miss you. That is that part of your dream,
- 38:52Speaker 1: your goal.
- 38:55Speaker 5: I think at one point I'm going to get back
- 38:57Speaker 5: when we don't know, we don't know, you know.
- 39:00Speaker 1: And that's something that I went to.
- 39:06Speaker 5: We've been through a lot of places this summer, a lot,
- 39:09Speaker 5: you know, from volleyball tournaments in Minnesota to see our
- 39:14Speaker 5: niece dominate uh her Nationals too. We went back to
- 39:19Speaker 5: Boston and we watched three three matches at Gillette or sorry,
- 39:25Speaker 5: Boston Stadium, Boston Stadium's note, Boston State. We went there,
- 39:31Speaker 5: and then we went to Switzerland and we went to Italy. Uh.
- 39:36Speaker 5: In Italy, I had a chance to actually a.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Text.
- 39:41Speaker 5: Alan Bart who used to work with us, you know,
- 39:43Speaker 5: with the with the Red Sox. He used to be
- 39:45Speaker 5: with the Royals and the Mets, and we're going back
- 39:49Speaker 5: and forth. He lives, he lives in Florence right now,
- 39:52Speaker 5: and we were trying to hooked up, you know, to
- 39:55Speaker 5: have lunch or breakfast, and uh. In the conversation, I said, man,
- 40:00Speaker 5: my family needed me, and he goes, you keep saying that,
- 40:07Speaker 5: and the way I see it, you needed your family,
- 40:11Speaker 5: and Carl, I'm telling you man, when he said that,
- 40:15Speaker 5: I was like, holy shoot, you know what, yes, because
- 40:20Speaker 5: you get caught up on everything, you know, like I
- 40:22Speaker 5: haven't stopped.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I haven't stopped. That's Alex Corroon dur from the dugout Here.
- 40:28Speaker 1: On the Foul Territory Network with Karl Ravich and Justin Musel,
- 40:32Speaker 1: Alex Carr talked about why he turned down a chance
- 40:34Speaker 1: to manage the Phillies after being fired by Boston in
- 40:37Speaker 1: late April. I think at one point I'm going to
- 40:39Speaker 1: get back when we don't know, corusaid I needed my family.
- 40:42Speaker 1: At the end of the day, priorities are priorities. These
- 40:45Speaker 1: people are amazing and they're loving life all right. Let's
- 40:48Speaker 1: be honest here, Kipie. We miss a lot of time.
- 40:49Speaker 1: And something I was always told when I was playing
- 40:52Speaker 1: baseball was even when I was home, meaning home games,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I wasn't home right because in your mind you're always thinking,
- 41:00Speaker 1: who were I facing that night, who's pitching for us
- 41:02Speaker 1: that night? How do I get them through seven innings?
- 41:04Speaker 1: How am I going to win the game? What time
- 41:05Speaker 1: is it? You're always like, oh, man, do I got
- 41:07Speaker 1: to leave yet for the field? No matter what, And
- 41:09Speaker 1: even though you're present, you're not really present. How much
- 41:12Speaker 1: does this mean now that Alex score to hear someone
- 41:14Speaker 1: say this, that he's getting to spend time with his family, Well.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I'm so glad you said that, because I knew I
- 41:20Speaker 2: wasn't alone in it, but hearing you say that, it's
- 41:23Speaker 2: so true. I think the greatest compliment I ever got
- 41:28Speaker 2: in my life when I retired and I knew I
- 41:31Speaker 2: was done playing the game. You know, and it's not
- 41:34Speaker 2: the people immediately close to you. It's like that second
- 41:37Speaker 2: layer of people that only see you, you know, occasionally
- 41:40Speaker 2: during the season. But someone's just said you look different,
- 41:43Speaker 2: and I'm like, what do you mean. They're like less stressed,
- 41:45Speaker 2: you know, more engaged, like you. You know, your eye
- 41:49Speaker 2: contacts better because people don't understand the stress that we're
- 41:52Speaker 2: under as a player, and just because we're home doesn't
- 41:54Speaker 2: mean we're present. And you know, having my wife and
- 41:58Speaker 2: kids with me along the way on my journey. Like
- 42:02Speaker 2: you said, you're home, but you're never present. You're always
- 42:04Speaker 2: consumed about who's pitching, how's my swing working, how's the
- 42:09Speaker 2: team doing? Am I getting? You know, all the things
- 42:10Speaker 2: that happen. And I think for a guy like Alex Cora,
- 42:14Speaker 2: who's been a baseball kind of lifer, who really went
- 42:18Speaker 2: from playing to kind of in the dugout, who's always
- 42:20Speaker 2: been involved in the game, and then you finally get
- 42:23Speaker 2: a summer off and you realize, man, how much you've
- 42:28Speaker 2: really missed in your life. And when you kind of
- 42:30Speaker 2: can shut that part of your brain off that consumes
- 42:33Speaker 2: you so much about the ins and outs of the
- 42:36Speaker 2: game of baseball, and you actually get a chance to
- 42:39Speaker 2: be around your wife, your kids, lose that stress of,
- 42:44Speaker 2: you know, having to compete every day to be the
- 42:46Speaker 2: best at what you want to do. And I hear
- 42:48Speaker 2: this all the time when I'm in Toronto. You know, oh,
- 42:51Speaker 2: we could use you, man. You look like you're in
- 42:52Speaker 2: great shape. You should play. Would you ever consider playing?
- 42:55Speaker 2: I'm like, hell, no, one, because physically I can't do
- 42:58Speaker 2: it anymore. But people don't understand emotionally spiritually, physically. It
- 43:05Speaker 2: takes everything out of you, especially me. You know, for
- 43:08Speaker 2: me to be as good of a player as I was,
- 43:10Speaker 2: I couldn't be half in. I had to be one
- 43:12Speaker 2: thousand percent committed, and a lot of other things had
- 43:15Speaker 2: to sacrifice, which you know, fell on my wife and
- 43:18Speaker 2: my kids, and my relationships with my parents and my
- 43:21Speaker 2: brother and my friends. All of those things had to sacrifice.
- 43:24Speaker 2: So for alex cor to kind of come out and
- 43:26Speaker 2: say that that he would want to come back, it
- 43:29Speaker 2: might be a difficult thing for him to come back.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I mean, this is a very accomplished man, not only
- 43:34Speaker 2: as an athlete and as a player in the game,
- 43:36Speaker 2: he's accomplished a lot as a manager. And sometimes I
- 43:39Speaker 2: think when you're in that arena, you don't see anything else.
- 43:43Speaker 2: And I think, finally, when you get out of that
- 43:45Speaker 2: arena and you get a chance to travel the world,
- 43:47Speaker 2: you get a chance to connect with you know, your
- 43:50Speaker 2: nieces and nephews and your wife and your kids, and
- 43:52Speaker 2: you get to go explore the world and kind of
- 43:56Speaker 2: you know, bear the the or reap the benefits of
- 43:58Speaker 2: your hard work over many, many years. It might be
- 44:01Speaker 2: difficult for him to come back and manage again.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's going to be jobs open, and his
- 44:07Speaker 1: wife has come out and said that, you know, or
- 44:09Speaker 1: he's come out and said his wife wanted him to
- 44:10Speaker 1: turn down the job, which I totally understand our fiance
- 44:14Speaker 1: excuse me, sorry, my wife, sorry fiance, And I get
- 44:19Speaker 1: it because it's it's hard once you're when you're in
- 44:21Speaker 1: that life to get out of that life. But if
- 44:23Speaker 1: a team like the Mets, right or the Phillies or
- 44:26Speaker 1: another team comes out and they I mean, he's already
- 44:28Speaker 1: making a lot of money, so if they throw a
- 44:29Speaker 1: huge sum of money at him, I just think that
- 44:34Speaker 1: I see him. I think I see him coming back
- 44:37Speaker 1: and doing it again. He got a nice break. But
- 44:39Speaker 1: you know what, you know this kpe once it's in
- 44:40Speaker 1: your blood, it's in your blood. So yes or no?
- 44:43Speaker 1: Does does Alex Korra manage next year? Yeah?
- 44:47Speaker 2: I think he does. I think he does because I
- 44:49Speaker 2: think the Phillies job may be open. I think the
- 44:51Speaker 2: Mets job could be open. Both those teams have a
- 44:55Speaker 2: lot to offer money wise, roster wise, and you you
- 45:00Speaker 2: know what, and for everything I said, I think it
- 45:02Speaker 2: can be true for most people. But what you said,
- 45:05Speaker 2: it's in his blood and sometimes all you really need
- 45:09Speaker 2: is that summer off for him to be able to
- 45:11Speaker 2: go out and do these things he never got an
- 45:13Speaker 2: opportunity to do, and maybe it kind of fills his
- 45:16Speaker 2: cup enough to be like, you know what, I reconnected.
- 45:20Speaker 2: I got to travel, I got to do things I
- 45:22Speaker 2: didn't get a chance to do when I was in
- 45:24Speaker 2: the manager's seat, you know, over the last handful of years.
- 45:28Speaker 2: But it's just who I am. It's part of my
- 45:30Speaker 2: DNA is to be a manager, a leader of men.
- 45:34Speaker 2: So I wouldn't be I wouldn't bet against him coming
- 45:38Speaker 2: back to manage next year.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Okay, well, nice. Nice. You can check out Alex Korra's
- 45:44Speaker 1: full interview on Dirt on YouTube at Dirt from the Dugout,
- 45:47Speaker 1: along with their conversations with Dustin Pedroia, Dusty Baker. Myl
- 45:53Speaker 1: Michaelas has officially been DFAID Magic. Michaelis is DFA Jackson Kent.
- 45:59Speaker 1: We'll start for the national tomorrow. I'm assuming that means
- 46:01Speaker 1: today that there is no official corresponding move. Tonight, Miles
- 46:05Speaker 1: Michaelis was saying goodbye to teammates in the clubhouse. Miles
- 46:08Speaker 1: Michaels has had a nice run He's had a nice career.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Is this it for Miles Michael As you think.
- 46:14Speaker 2: No, I you know, there's always need for starting pitching.
- 46:17Speaker 2: You know, we talked to Ken a little bit earlier
- 46:19Speaker 2: about just like a guy like Trey Savage, Jamison Taijong
- 46:22Speaker 2: just got hurt. You could see him potentially him landing
- 46:27Speaker 2: with a team like the Blue Jays. Veteran pitching is
- 46:29Speaker 2: always needed, especially down the stretch. So I don't think
- 46:33Speaker 2: this is it for him. I think, you know, his
- 46:36Speaker 2: career arc is pretty amazing, you know, not having a
- 46:40Speaker 2: lot of success in the major leagues, going overseas and
- 46:42Speaker 2: then coming back having a ton of success. It's a
- 46:46Speaker 2: pretty incredible story.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, I mean, is that a nice career. He's
- 46:50Speaker 1: made some money. He's got a big farm out down
- 46:53Speaker 1: there by Jupiter where he's from, and yes, there is
- 46:56Speaker 1: farming in Florida, and yes there's farming in South Florida.
- 46:58Speaker 1: If you haven't been down there, it's a little bit different.
- 47:00Speaker 1: But yeah, nice career. I mean, they've only have two
- 47:04Speaker 1: starting pitchers in the Nationals that have spent the entire
- 47:07Speaker 1: season on the actor or on the active roster, Kate
- 47:09Speaker 1: Cavally and Your Beat Vivas. So the Nationals they're looking
- 47:13Speaker 1: for anybody, right, They're looking for anybody they can hit.
- 47:15Speaker 1: But man, now it sounds like Brad Lord could get
- 47:18Speaker 1: some work in as a starter, or at least be
- 47:19Speaker 1: built back up into one that's from Spencer Nusbaum. So
- 47:23Speaker 1: maybe Brad Lord is a starter going forward. But man,
- 47:27Speaker 1: the Nationals this offseason, if I'm them, I'm looking for
- 47:29Speaker 1: someone to pitch. And then Spencer Nussbaum again. Jackson Kent
- 47:33Speaker 1: will be the thirty fourth fifth person to throw a
- 47:35Speaker 1: pitch for the Nationals this season. If Michaels is the
- 47:38Speaker 1: corresponding move, only two of them will have spent the
- 47:41Speaker 1: entire season on the roster Kate Cavali and Your Beat Vivas.
- 47:44Speaker 1: That's pretty crazy by the way that they've had this
- 47:47Speaker 1: many pitchers and only two have been there the entire season.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I don't know where that triple A is, but there's
- 47:51Speaker 1: a lot of plane flight bus rides back and forth.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think, kind of going back to
- 47:57Speaker 2: the Paul Skiing things, I think this is kind of
- 48:00Speaker 2: the waving the white flag for the Nationals a little bit.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Who took baseball by surprise with the amount of success
- 48:08Speaker 2: they've had this year, and a lot of that's come
- 48:10Speaker 2: from what they've been able to do offensively. But I
- 48:13Speaker 2: don't think they expected to be in this position. I
- 48:15Speaker 2: don't think they are expected to even you know, get
- 48:18Speaker 2: a wildcard spot. So I think this is them throwing
- 48:21Speaker 2: in the towel a little bit and really building for
- 48:22Speaker 2: the future. Having thirty five different guys kind of throw
- 48:26Speaker 2: a pitch this year. I think it's really just been
- 48:29Speaker 2: tryouts for them.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Mitz Bannon here. The Blue Jays have claimed Paul Seawald
- 48:33Speaker 1: as Steve Gilbert. MLB first reported he had a three
- 48:37Speaker 1: one eight ERA entering June twenty third, but gave up
- 48:39Speaker 1: seventeen and runs and fourteen appearances was DF eight on Monday,
- 48:43Speaker 1: veteran reliever with one hundred and ten career saves run
- 48:45Speaker 1: in to help a fatigued Blue Jays bullpen. We love
- 48:49Speaker 1: Paul Seawalt on the show KP. He's one of the
- 48:51Speaker 1: great dudes. He's got a bunch of saves for the
- 48:54Speaker 1: Diamondbacks this year. His era was inflated, but I know
- 48:59Speaker 1: Torri Levello said it was gut wrenching for them to
- 49:02Speaker 1: have to do this. What will he what will he
- 49:04Speaker 1: do for the for the Blue Jays? Excuse me, I
- 49:06Speaker 1: mean Louis Varlin ain't going anywhere as closer, so Seawall
- 49:09Speaker 1: just a veteran presence to try to eat some innings
- 49:11Speaker 1: for him somewhere.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean potentially fills that kind of role of
- 49:15Speaker 2: Jeff Hoffman, guy with closing experience no longer closing seventh inning,
- 49:20Speaker 2: you know, kind of a fireman situation. You know, he's
- 49:23Speaker 2: been great in his career. You said, one hundred and
- 49:24Speaker 2: ten saves. He's been outstanding his career. A little bit
- 49:27Speaker 2: of a down year, but maybe a change of scenery
- 49:30Speaker 2: could do him wonders. The Blue Jays have also, this
- 49:35Speaker 2: bullpen has just been taxed over this last week, three
- 49:39Speaker 2: different cities, back to back to back days, four extra
- 49:42Speaker 2: inning games over a five day stretch. They've thrown a
- 49:45Speaker 2: lot of pitches in that bullpen, and Paul Seawall can
- 49:48Speaker 2: just kind of be a breath of fresh air for
- 49:50Speaker 2: them for however long he goes out and pitches.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Well, yeah, listen, adding veteran guys down the stretch, there's
- 49:59Speaker 1: never a bad thing for teams, especially a team like
- 50:02Speaker 1: the Blue Jays. You know, even though we don't think
- 50:05Speaker 1: they're in it. They still are kind of alive for
- 50:08Speaker 1: a while card race, So you know, there are only
- 50:10Speaker 1: a few games out. If they keep beating the Red
- 50:12Speaker 1: Sox the way they are, they might be right back
- 50:13Speaker 1: in this thing quicker than we realized. So yeah, I
- 50:16Speaker 1: love this. I love this for policy Wald and he
- 50:17Speaker 1: gets to play for another team and spread his happiness,
- 50:20Speaker 1: his joy and his golf game to not only another
- 50:23Speaker 1: team but also another country.
- 50:26Speaker 2: And a tremendous reporting by Mitch Bannon, you know blue
- 50:29Speaker 2: Bird Territories own Mitch Bannon.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Yes, there you go. If Ricky Romero would have had this,
- 50:36Speaker 1: then we really would have had some We could had
- 50:37Speaker 1: Miller Lite, We could have had a party and Bluebird
- 50:40Speaker 1: on top of the CN Tower. By the way, we
- 50:42Speaker 1: only have a couple of seconds. Have you done the
- 50:43Speaker 1: CN Tower walk?
- 50:45Speaker 2: Yeah? I did it on Canada Day. It was terrifying,
- 50:48Speaker 2: terrify this year?
- 50:49Speaker 1: You did it?
- 50:50Speaker 2: Did it this year just for charity?
- 50:52Speaker 1: Or do you just do it for fun?
- 50:55Speaker 2: Nothing in life is free, aj you know that. But yeah,
- 50:58Speaker 2: the goodness of my heart, for the fiftieth aniversary of
- 51:00Speaker 2: the Toronto Blue Jays, I'll leave it at that.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Okay, awesome. Were you scared when they made you lean back?
- 51:06Speaker 2: I didn't lean back. I couldn't do it. I couldn't
- 51:08Speaker 2: even let go of a rope.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Slap Hans KP. Don't forget to check out our brand
- 51:24Speaker 1: new custom player license Merchant Foul Territory Shop dot com.
- 51:27Speaker 1: You can get Vlattie Junior. I know I expect you
- 51:29Speaker 1: to have one of those Ozzi Alby's Chase the latter
- 51:32Speaker 1: Kyle Schwarber shirts and a lot of the ones you're
- 51:35Speaker 1: seeing right now. They're awesome shirts. We've done a great
- 51:37Speaker 1: job staring. Our design team has done an amazing job
- 51:40Speaker 1: getting them their Foul Territory Shop dot com. You can
- 51:43Speaker 1: also get the og KP, which is the one I'm
- 51:45Speaker 1: wearing today. I wore a Murcami one a couple of
- 51:49Speaker 1: days ago. I wore the Adlie Ritchman one yesterday. You
- 51:52Speaker 1: got a Sam Antonaci there you or you could just
- 51:55Speaker 1: get the old og original Foul Territory shirt KP. I
- 51:59Speaker 1: don't know which one you're into, but it sounds like
- 52:01Speaker 1: you should get a Vlad Guerrero Junior shirt for Blueberry
- 52:04Speaker 1: Bluebird Territory.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Or a Matt Olson shirt. I'm gonna get me a
- 52:07Speaker 2: Matt Olsen shirt because I love me some Matt Olson.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Okay, that's fair, that's fair enough. And then also, uh,
- 52:14Speaker 1: you know when you can wear your Vlatty Guerrero Junior
- 52:16Speaker 1: shirt because next time you do this when you go
- 52:19Speaker 1: up on top of the CN Tower, apparently we have
- 52:21Speaker 1: footage of it. I need to see this footage, so
- 52:23Speaker 1: can we roll this footage? That's Canada.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty pretty incredible day they did. The Blue Jays
- 52:29Speaker 2: do a great job, you know, much like you said
- 52:31Speaker 2: the Chicago White Sox do a really good job of
- 52:34Speaker 2: you know, the Pope day and the giveaway. The Blue
- 52:36Speaker 2: Jays always go extra for big events. And this happened
- 52:41Speaker 2: to be the fiftieth anniversary of the Toronto Blue Jays
- 52:43Speaker 2: this season, it happened to also be the fiftieth anniversary
- 52:46Speaker 2: of the c N Tower, so they tied the two together.
- 52:50Speaker 2: And during the anthem, the Canadian anthem, they kind of
- 52:54Speaker 2: made a little bit of a special announcement that there
- 52:57Speaker 2: was gonna be a couple former Toronto Blue Jays up there.
- 53:01Speaker 2: This is me asking them how safe is it really
- 53:03Speaker 2: to go up there? And they told me today or
- 53:06Speaker 2: that day sixty people had gone up and sixty people
- 53:09Speaker 2: had come down. So I went up there with a
- 53:12Speaker 2: little bit of confidence, but I'm not a Heights guy.
- 53:16Speaker 2: I really treated this like I had no way out.
- 53:19Speaker 2: I really could have just said no. But the Blue
- 53:21Speaker 2: Jays have always been great to me and my family
- 53:24Speaker 2: and aj As. You know, when you form relationships with
- 53:27Speaker 2: the people behind the scenes that spend a lot of
- 53:30Speaker 2: time and energy trying to put together the best kind
- 53:35Speaker 2: of events possible. When they reached out to me and
- 53:38Speaker 2: told me, you know, justin Smoke and Marcoschato were in,
- 53:43Speaker 2: who are some of my best friends in the game,
- 53:45Speaker 2: but they were having trouble getting some other people to commit.
- 53:49Speaker 2: I said, you know what I'm in, I'll do it,
- 53:52Speaker 2: and as you could tell, those guys are a little
- 53:54Speaker 2: bit more comfortable. I got the one hand on the rope.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I never let know that rope that whole time for
- 54:00Speaker 2: whatever reason, and I had the power stance too. When
- 54:02Speaker 2: I had one leg back, I felt so much more
- 54:05Speaker 2: comfortable up there, and despite me being terrified of being
- 54:09Speaker 2: up there, it was the most incredible view with the
- 54:12Speaker 2: roof open, being able to look down into the Rogers
- 54:15Speaker 2: Center in a sea of red on Canada Day with
- 54:18Speaker 2: that giant flag. I would like to do it again.
- 54:23Speaker 2: I would be probably equally as scared to do it again,
- 54:26Speaker 2: but I think the second time, having a feel for it,
- 54:30Speaker 2: I think I would be a little bit more adventurous.
- 54:32Speaker 2: Potentially let go of the rope first. Secondly, maybe do
- 54:36Speaker 2: the leanover. Both Marco and Justin both were able to
- 54:42Speaker 2: sit their butt over the edge. Justin being a hunter,
- 54:45Speaker 2: he's very comfortable being in a harness, so he was
- 54:48Speaker 2: very comfortable with the idea of trusting the harness. Marco,
- 54:51Speaker 2: who's a little bit more of a daredevil and fearless
- 54:55Speaker 2: when it comes out stuff, he was able to kind
- 54:57Speaker 2: of lean over the edge of me. When I was
- 55:00Speaker 2: close to the c and tower. Further away from the edge,
- 55:02Speaker 2: I felt a little bit more safe.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you look terrified. I've always said I wanted to
- 55:07Speaker 1: do this, but you look like me when I had
- 55:09Speaker 1: to skydive. Once I said yes, I couldn't back out.
- 55:11Speaker 1: So once you say yes, you have to do it.
- 55:13Speaker 1: It was that experience like it was the same thing,
- 55:16Speaker 1: like you said, but the difference is I had a
- 55:18Speaker 1: Navy seal strapped in my back. You had Justin smoke
- 55:20Speaker 1: and Marcostrada strout to your back, so I felt a
- 55:23Speaker 1: little bit safer, and I always wondered. We always talked
- 55:26Speaker 1: about this when the CN Tower, if it ever fell,
- 55:28Speaker 1: which way do you run? Because if it starts flying
- 55:29Speaker 1: towards the SkyDome, which way do you run? And anyways,
- 55:32Speaker 1: I don't need to talk about We always would look
- 55:34Speaker 1: up at it and say, man, if it comes at us,
- 55:35Speaker 1: which way do we go? But beautiful job you did.
- 55:38Speaker 2: You ever have that debate if you could, if you
- 55:40Speaker 2: got up there on the top, do you think you
- 55:42Speaker 2: could throw a ball into the Roger Center?
- 55:44Speaker 3: No?
- 55:45Speaker 1: I feel like I could.
- 55:46Speaker 2: It's further than you think. But when you get up there,
- 55:48Speaker 2: it's you think gravity would help you. But it's it's
- 55:51Speaker 2: one of those debates. I guess as someone there, you
- 55:53Speaker 2: debated it all the time.
- 55:55Speaker 1: All right, see everybody tomorrow felt territory again. No Scott,
- 55:58Speaker 1: just me and KP. Coach
