A listener writes “In 1989, I married a service member, and he received a TAD school assignment to 29 Palms, California. In October of that year, when I was about five months pregnant, we left the East Coast and moved to California.

We rented a house on the hill going into the Yucca Valley National Monument. It was a beautiful house, and we thought we were very lucky to find such a nice place at a reasonable price. The house had two bedrooms and a really large, open den filled with windows that offered an amazing view of 29 Palms and the surrounding area at night.
