Transcript
- 0:00So this is a continuation of the last chapter from Ezekiel,
- 0:07chapter 28, where it seemed like the reference was being made to
- 0:14Satan. And so I created this separate
- 0:18podcast because chapter 28 already was an hour long.
- 0:23And so this is a continuation to talk a little bit more and it's
- 0:28about recognizing the enemy because I think that's really
- 0:33important for all people to know, know the enemy, not for
- 0:41worship purposes, far from that, but to recognize so we aren't
- 0:46deceived and led by the enemy. Because the enemy always starts
- 0:51out with something alluring to us.
- 0:55It seems like something good, but it eventually he works it to
- 1:02our destruction and we'll just learn a whole lot by just a
- 1:07couple of word searches. And this is often how new
- 1:12things, how I discover new things in the Bible by word
- 1:15searching. And one of the tools that I use
- 1:18is blueletterbible.org, which is excellent because you can dig
- 1:23into a lot deeper. So I'm going to go through the
- 1:29verses about the enemy, at least on a quick search.
- 1:33And then if you wanted to do your own search about this or
- 1:37anything else to, I recommend blueletterbible.org because it,
- 1:44it's a great tool. And then you can read more about
- 1:47these things because I'll, I'll tell you what I know about these
- 1:51verses. And then some of these things
- 1:53you may want to read up a little bit more.
- 1:55So you can do your own search by just simply putting in the
- 1:59search word for a verse. And you can search Satan and I'm
- 2:03using the NIV version. And then I've also searched
- 2:06devil and I'm going to read these things and talk about what
- 2:10I know about them. So the first one that comes up
- 2:14when we search Satan, and this is a point to to know to learn
- 2:18how Satan operates so that we can recognize it.
- 2:24And then we cannot be deceived or we will, will not be deceived
- 2:29because we'll say, Hey, I remember he did this to, you
- 2:32know, someone in the Bible. And I'm not going to let this
- 2:36happen to me. In fact, that's how I first read
- 2:39the Bible. So this is really important to
- 2:41me because I was, I had made a choice to not be a hypocrite.
- 2:47Well, no, not quite. I had made a, a choice to live a
- 2:53better life. And and so a lot of bad things
- 2:57started happening to me right after that.
- 3:00And it, I mean like a lot and, and I just, I was praying to God
- 3:05and I was like, God, what is, what is going on?
- 3:08I'm, I'm, you know, living my life better than I was just a
- 3:11few years ago. And my life's only getting
- 3:14worse. Like this isn't how it's
- 3:16supposed to be. That was my thought.
- 3:18I didn't know. About Satan and what he does.
- 3:22And seriously, I believe this was not a coincidence, but I
- 3:27hadn't read the Bible yet. And I had my Bible on the on my
- 3:31night stand, I had, you know, prayed to God and said, I
- 3:34surrendered. And what that meant to me was I
- 3:37would, I would be more focused on on God than I was in the
- 3:41past. And I would commit to praying in
- 3:43the morning and praying in the evening.
- 3:46And and that's. What I that was quote my
- 3:49surrender. I didn't quite make Jesus Lord
- 3:54of my life at that point, but I was ignorant.
- 3:57I didn't have a mentor. I was doing this on my own.
- 3:59I was doing what I thought was right.
- 4:01Anyway, bad things were happening and I I just I wasn't
- 4:04angry with God about the bad things that were happening.
- 4:06I was just shocked. I was like God, how is how are
- 4:09you letting this happen? You know, when I'm doing all
- 4:11this, which is also probably something that God was teaching
- 4:15me, that we don't get there by our.
- 4:17Works. And maybe that's how I was
- 4:20trying because that's kind of how I grew up thinking that
- 4:23which it does matter how we live our lives and what we do, but
- 4:26that doesn't earn us a place in God's Kingdom.
- 4:31It is a gift from God through. Jesus.
- 4:34That we are are given the opportunity to be in God's
- 4:38Kingdom and how we respond to that free gift determines
- 4:44whether or not we will be in God's Kingdom.
- 4:46Jesus made the way, but we have a response to give back to God.
- 4:51Do we accept or do we reject? So anyway, I was, I was, you
- 4:56know, performance based and I was, you know, saying God, this
- 5:01doesn't make sense. You know, I'm not angry at you,
- 5:03but just explain what is going on.
- 5:06And so I decided for the first time to open up the Bible and
- 5:10see if there was something in the Bible that would make sense
- 5:12of this. And so I randomly opened up and
- 5:15I randomly opened up to the book of Job.
- 5:19And boy, that was the perfect book for me to open the Bible to
- 5:23because it, it started out in the beginning where Satan was in
- 5:28front of, in the presence of God.
- 5:31And Satan was saying, Hey, if I take all this stuff away from
- 5:34Job, then he will turn against you.
- 5:37And he just and, and God said, you know, actually God.
- 5:42God. Allowed Satan to do this because
- 5:45he, God was confident in Job, in his relationship with Job.
- 5:50He knew Job's heart. He knew that Job was connected
- 5:55to him. And Satan basically said yeah,
- 5:59he's connected to you because you've done all these good
- 6:01things for him. That's why he likes you.
- 6:03It's just because of what you've done for him.
- 6:05And I'm paraphrasing this, obviously.
- 6:07And so God was like, no, you know, go.
- 6:09Ahead, test him. And poor Job had no idea this
- 6:13was going on, but God allowed. Satan to test.
- 6:18Job and Job had not done anything wrong.
- 6:21All of Job's friends suggested Job.
- 6:24You had to do something wrong. This wouldn't be happening to
- 6:26you if you hadn't done something wrong.
- 6:28Confess. You know you need to repent of
- 6:31whatever you've done. And his friends were not being
- 6:34supportive of him. They didn't understand what was
- 6:36going on with him and they were giving him bad advice because
- 6:39they really didn't know which. Also.
- 6:41Shows us how we can't always know what's going on in
- 6:44someone's life, but God does anyway.
- 6:49Satan did all sorts of things, destroyed so many different
- 6:53things, His, his family, his things that he owned, his
- 6:59health. I mean Satan took damaged all of
- 7:02these. Things.
- 7:04But in the very end, God restored doubly what Satan had
- 7:09taken away. And so when I, when I read that
- 7:14book, I, I first of all, like, I, that was like a horrible book
- 7:17because I was like, Oh my gosh, this is like what I'm going
- 7:19through. And that was good because then
- 7:22it showed me this is not God. This is the enemy.
- 7:26And I'm being tested. That's what I learned.
- 7:29So that was when I learned about recognizing the enemy and how
- 7:36important it is. While Christians don't want to
- 7:38spend much time studying Satan or understanding what he is, I
- 7:42think it's really important so that we can avoid his arrows,
- 7:49his manipulation, his words. Because I another thing, I do
- 7:55believe that Satan is behind suicides.
- 7:58I believe he gets into somebody's head and starts
- 8:01accusing them and telling them how worthless they are and
- 8:05saying all these things. These are, these are the
- 8:07opposite of what God would say to anyone.
- 8:10God would say, you know, maybe you've fallen, maybe you've
- 8:14sinned against me, maybe you've done these bad things, but there
- 8:17is restoration and that my spirit will restore you.
- 8:22We just have to rely on God and not try to be performance based
- 8:26and rely on ourself and and just seek God, seek that relationship
- 8:31with God and know that God is a good God.
- 8:34He he does not it's he it says in Scripture that he does not
- 8:39delight in the punishment or the discipline or the the.
- 8:44Wrath. That sometimes happens as his
- 8:48choice, but he is a God of righteousness and of justice.
- 8:52So he has to do that because of who he is, because he is holy.
- 8:56So those are things that God must do, otherwise he wouldn't
- 9:00be holy and he wouldn't be just and he wouldn't be righteous if
- 9:03he didn't do these things. So that's what we have to
- 9:06understand about God is that it's not always going to be all
- 9:10these like never anything bad happening.
- 9:13The reason bad things happen is because of evil in the world and
- 9:16God must do that to get rid of the evil.
- 9:21Eventually when Jesus returns, there will be peace and Satan
- 9:26will be locked up. So he's not going to be able to
- 9:28influence like he had been in the past for 1000 years.
- 9:32He will be released at the end of that thousand years, but then
- 9:37he will be just. He will be sent to his
- 9:38destruction after that. So he will rally up a few more
- 9:43people in the world to go against God, but he will be
- 9:47defeated by God and not by man, but by God will defeat him.
- 9:53And then there will be the final judgement.
- 9:55So all the people who have died, the ones who were not in Christ,
- 10:00who had not received the Holy Spirit, they will come to life
- 10:03at the end of that thousand years, and that's when the final
- 10:06judgement will occur. And then everything will be
- 10:11turned over to God's Kingdom. There's a new heaven and a new
- 10:15Jerusalem that will come down from heaven.
- 10:18I mean, there's going to be a new place where people will
- 10:21reside. There will be no more mourning,
- 10:23no more tears, no more All the evil will be separate.
- 10:26There is, if you look at the description of it, whether it's
- 10:29literal or figurative to just say there's going to be a great
- 10:33huge thick wall between the outside and the inside.
- 10:38Nothing evil or impure will ever enter the Kingdom of God and the
- 10:43Holy Spirit. We can say, well, I'm impure, so
- 10:45I'm not going to be able to be in the Kingdom of God.
- 10:46Well, the Holy Spirit changes us and we won't be perfected until
- 10:51Jesus returns, but we will be changed in an instant when Jesus
- 10:55returns. If we put our faith and trust
- 10:59and belief in Jesus and what he did on the cross, and if we have
- 11:03received the Holy Spirit, these this will happen to us.
- 11:06Otherwise, if that, if we haven't received the Holy Spirit
- 11:09and we die, we're going to be in the ground waiting for that
- 11:12thousand years to pass, and then we will be raised up and we will
- 11:18be judged. By our deeds.
- 11:21We are not covered in that case by the blood of Christ, by
- 11:26Christ sacrifice. If somebody dies without
- 11:28believing or trusting in Jesus, they will be judged according to
- 11:34their actions. So what you reap.
- 11:37You will sow and they will also be eternally separated from God.
- 11:43And if we are not written in the book of life.
- 11:47Then that means the what will happen is we will be in the
- 11:52burning lake, a sulfur to be tormented forever and ever,
- 11:57along with Satan and the false prophet, everyone whose name was
- 12:01not written in the book of life. So choosing life, that's what
- 12:05you know, God says, Jesus says the choose life anyway, I think
- 12:10that's the most important thing. And I haven't talked about the
- 12:12enemy yet, but now we'll talk about the enemy.
- 12:16So knowing all of that, let's get into recognizing the enemy.
- 12:21So. Look at this First Chronicles
- 12:24chapter 21, verse one. Satan rose up against Israel and
- 12:30incited David to take a census of Israel.
- 12:36So God has said don't ever do that.
- 12:37Like I guess that creates pride if you're counting your people
- 12:42or you're putting your trust in your warriors or all of those
- 12:45things. So God had rules and this is
- 12:48his. David was a man after God's own
- 12:51heart. God says that.
- 12:53But Satan rose up against Israel and incited he influenced David
- 12:59to take a census of Israel. So even if our hearts are turned
- 13:04to God, that doesn't mean that Satan's not going to try to
- 13:07influence us. That's why it's important to
- 13:10recognize, is this from God or is this Satan?
- 13:14Is this God's enemy? And if David was affected, that
- 13:19means we can be affected. But if we know how the enemy
- 13:24works, we can recognize it and perhaps avoid it.
- 13:29So then in Job, this is kind of the story that I, the book that
- 13:35I came about. Actually, there's a lot about
- 13:37Satan in the book of Job, ironically, and that was the
- 13:40first book of the Bible that I read.
- 13:42So I will just read these verses because I really told you the
- 13:45whole story already about what happened with Job.
- 13:48But here's the references to Satan from the book of Job.
- 13:52One day the angels came to present themselves before the
- 13:55Lord, and Satan also came with them.
- 13:59So we see Satan is, you know, going between the earth and the
- 14:02heavens in the heavenly realms where the Lord is.
- 14:06The Lord said to Satan, where have you come from?
- 14:09Satan answered the Lord from roaming throughout the earth,
- 14:13going back and forth. So we learned from this that
- 14:16Satan has ability to be in God's presence and to be on earth and
- 14:27he's roaming the earth. Then the Lord, now these are in.
- 14:31This is all in the 1st chapter of Job.
- 14:34Then the Lord said to Satan, have you considered my servant
- 14:39Job? There is no one on earth like
- 14:41him. He is blameless and upright, a
- 14:44man who fears God and shuns evil.
- 14:47So here is where God allowed Job to be tested.
- 14:51Why did he do this? I don't know, but I know Satan,
- 14:57you know I don't. I don't know why God allowed
- 15:00this to happen, but he did. But he restored and Job didn't
- 15:05know this was going on to him. And Job actually confronted God
- 15:08and was like, why? Why, why?
- 15:10Because he knew the way he was living.
- 15:12He knew what he was doing and he knew how he his relationship
- 15:15with God and he didn't understand it because Job didn't
- 15:18he wasn't Privy to the information of what was
- 15:20happening in the heavenly realms between God and Satan and the
- 15:25conversation that was going on. So then it says in verse 9, does
- 15:31Job fear God for nothing? Satan replied.
- 15:35And then in verse 12 the Lord said to Satan, very well then
- 15:39everything he has in it is in your power, but on the man
- 15:44himself do not lay a finger. Then Satan went out from the
- 15:49presence of the Lord. So here we also learn another
- 15:54truth that we need to remember that the Lord controls.
- 16:00Let's see, the Lord is more powerful or he has to allow
- 16:03because he is God. Satan only has limited reign.
- 16:09He's on a limited leash. Like he can only do what God
- 16:15would allow, what God would say, OK, you can do that, but he is
- 16:20still like, he is not God. He can't do things without God
- 16:27allowing it to happen. Honestly, that's what this is
- 16:30what it it says basically here. So God gave him permission and
- 16:37you know, we can challenge that, but just like when Job
- 16:40challenges that God. 'S like who are you?
- 16:44You know, who are you? To challenge me.
- 16:46And he talks about all the things that he's done that, you
- 16:49know, that we need to have that fear of God, knowing God's
- 16:52power, knowing who God is, and not think like we're on equal
- 16:55playing field with God. Who are we talking to?
- 16:59We need to have that reverence for for God.
- 17:03So in Job chapter 2, on another day, the angels came to present
- 17:07themselves before the Lord and Satan also came with them to
- 17:11present himself before the Lord. So Satan is in the presence of
- 17:16God. We can see that.
- 17:18And verse 2 and the Lord said to Satan, where have you come from?
- 17:23Satan answered the Lord from roaming throughout the earth,
- 17:27going back and forth on it. You know, there's another verse
- 17:30we may get to. It says that Satan prowls like a
- 17:34lion looking for his next victim.
- 17:36And here it's telling us that Satan is answering the Lord.
- 17:40I'm going around the earth, going back and forth on it so.
- 17:44For us to think that Satan is not roaming the earth right now.
- 17:48We'd be foolish. We didn't read the Bible if we
- 17:51think that. And then in verse 3 it says then
- 17:54the Lord said to Satan, have you considered my servant Job?
- 17:58There is no one like him on earth.
- 17:59He is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil
- 18:02and he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me
- 18:08against him to ruin him without any reason.
- 18:13So Satan was challenging, you know, like about well, you, you
- 18:18protected him. That's why he likes you.
- 18:22And God's like, no, it's not. And then God was saying, you
- 18:25know, look at look at Job. He's an example.
- 18:29He's blameless, he's upright, he fears God, he shuns evil.
- 18:32He maintains his integrity, even though you incited him.
- 18:35So unlike David that we just read about in in Chronicles, Job
- 18:42was resisting Satan. So then Satan puts another
- 18:46challenge on, he says skin for skin replied Satan replied, a
- 18:52man will give all he has for his own life.
- 18:56That's an interesting 1, isn't it?
- 18:58Because Satan is saying, well, if you're going to take his life
- 19:00or you're going to like hurt him, he will give all he has for
- 19:05his own life. I mean, that's another thing
- 19:08that we can think about like being self-centered about that.
- 19:12Like God wants us to choose life.
- 19:14Yes, that's there's no question about that.
- 19:17But like a man will give all he has, like could that be also
- 19:23something from the enemy like trying to say like, well you,
- 19:27you can get better if you worship me or something like
- 19:31that. So we always have to be wise to
- 19:36how Satan operates. So the Lord said on verse 6, it
- 19:39says the Lord said to Satan, very well, then he is in your
- 19:42hands, but you must spare his life.
- 19:46So Satan is on a leash from God. He's allowed to do some things,
- 19:50but he cannot take his life. And we also find out in other
- 19:55scripture, I think it'll come up here, where Satan has the power
- 19:58over death, but Christ got that power when he died on the cross.
- 20:03He defeated death. So, but at this point, Satan has
- 20:10this, this, this power. And, and God's saying you can't,
- 20:15you can't take his life though. So Satan went out, verse 7.
- 20:19So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and
- 20:21afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to
- 20:27the crown of his head. So he's just going to make Job's
- 20:31life miserable and and again, God allowed him to do this, but
- 20:37Job doesn't turn away. There's no more about Job in
- 20:40this word search. But in the end, you know, God
- 20:44restores everything. Obviously God didn't make his
- 20:49entire family come back to life, but because of Job's
- 20:53relationship with God, he will be in God's Kingdom with his
- 20:57reunited with his family if they were also believers, which they
- 21:02probably were but or may have been, I don't know.
- 21:06But anyway his, his family will be restored.
- 21:11At least those who are believers will be with him in eternity.
- 21:15So that will all be restored later.
- 21:19So Zechariah 3 verse one says then he showed me Joshua the
- 21:23high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord and Satan
- 21:27standing at his right side to accuse him.
- 21:30So this is another fact that we get about Satan.
- 21:35He is an accuser and he's standing next to the high priest
- 21:39Joshua, who was a good person. He was from Israel and he was a
- 21:48high priest and he was standing. This was a vision that Zechariah
- 21:51had, but Satan was right there to accuse him.
- 21:55And then in verse 2 it says the Lord said to Satan, the Lord
- 21:59rebuke you. Satan, the Lord who has chosen
- 22:04Jerusalem rebuke you. Is not this man a burning stick
- 22:10snatched from the fire? Well, this gives us a lot of
- 22:13insight to Jerusalem and Israel because of their idolatry over
- 22:19the years and God's warning they are to be purified through fire.
- 22:31And so Israel is that burning stick and God snatched him from
- 22:39the fire. There's some and, and so he's
- 22:43accusing, but God, God protects and there's a remnant that God
- 22:50protects. So anyway, let's move on to the
- 22:55next one in Jesus. OK, now we're getting into the
- 22:59New Testament. In Matthew chapter 4 verse 10,
- 23:02Jesus said to him, away from me Satan, for it is written,
- 23:07worship the Lord your God and serve him only.
- 23:11So Satan was trying to get Jesus to worship him, but Jesus
- 23:16refused him. And the way he responded to
- 23:20Satan was by quoting scripture. So what Jesus was quoting, I
- 23:25can't seem to find this. It's not coming up right now,
- 23:30but because there is a a note, I was trying to find out where
- 23:35this is what Jesus was quoting. But he was essentially quoting
- 23:38Scripture to Satan and refusing to worship him.
- 23:43And this is when Jesus had just been baptized and he went out to
- 23:49the wilderness for 40 days and was tempted by Satan.
- 23:52So there was that 40 days is like that period of testing.
- 23:56And it probably was literal, but it's also symbolic because what
- 24:01was it? The Israelites wandered in the
- 24:04desert for 40 years, and I think it was 40 years that they were
- 24:10in the desert wandering. And then I think the the flood
- 24:13of Noah, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights.
- 24:17I mean, so 40 is significant. It may be literal in all those
- 24:21cases, and it may be symbolic of a period of testing.
- 24:25And even Jesus had this testing. So Jesus is our mediator between
- 24:31the Father, and he has experienced the things that we
- 24:37experience because he took on the body of a human and was
- 24:44present here. He felt the things that humans
- 24:47feel. He can relate to what we're
- 24:49going through. And so he is an example of how,
- 24:57I mean, when we pay attention to the way he lived and what he
- 25:00did, we can learn from him. So we're learning, in this case,
- 25:05we're learning that quote Scripture against no scripture.
- 25:10You have to be in the Word, You have to understand what is in
- 25:15the Bible so that when you have a temptation from Satan, you can
- 25:20quote Scripture again and know what what Jesus says, what God
- 25:25says. Jesus also said if Satan drives
- 25:29out Satan, he is divided against himself.
- 25:32How then can his Kingdom stand? Well, there's a lot of things we
- 25:36can learn from this division causes kingdoms to fail.
- 25:42So we can look at the United States right now and.
- 25:46See that? Start paying.
- 25:47Attention to the enemy. The enemy wants to divide, so
- 25:53propaganda, media propaganda. The enemy is in charge of media
- 25:59propaganda and will try to divide people and if we don't
- 26:05recognize it and we fall prey to it, we're being manipulated by
- 26:12the enemy by Satan. And he knows that if it's
- 26:17divided, it can't stand. So this was a side note when
- 26:24Jesus was talking about this because they were accusing him
- 26:27of working on behalf of Satan when he was doing his miracles
- 26:32and and he, you know, it did it just the logic made no sense at
- 26:38all. So Jesus was replying back to
- 26:41them like what you're saying doesn't even make sense because
- 26:45the Kingdom wouldn't stand. So he was not from Satan as he
- 26:51was being accused. So then Matthew 16 verse 23,
- 26:57Jesus turned and said to Peter, get behind me Satan.
- 27:01You are a stumbling block to me. You do not have in mind the
- 27:06concerns of God, but merely human concerns.
- 27:10So Jesus is saying to Peter, get behind me Satan.
- 27:15Wouldn't that be offensive? You're you know the the one you
- 27:19know is the Lord, the Son of God, and you are a disciple.
- 27:24You are following Jesus, and Jesus calls you.
- 27:27Satan. I mean, that would be like, Oh
- 27:30my gosh. I mean, how horrible that would
- 27:32have been for Peter to hear himself called Satan.
- 27:38But Jesus was spiritually recognizing what was coming out
- 27:46of Peter. Peter had taken out a sword and
- 27:49chopped off a guy's ear and said, basically, he's like, I'm
- 27:53going to kill, you know, not saying these words, but I'm just
- 27:58paraphrasing or making, you know, my own words, the story.
- 28:03Peter's basically saying, you know, we're not going to let
- 28:05these guys take you. We're going to fight them.
- 28:06We're going to kill them. We're going to keep them away
- 28:08from you. But Jesus knew that he had to
- 28:11die on the cross. Jesus knew what he was going to
- 28:14go through and he was willingly doing this, but he couldn't
- 28:20share that with his disciples. He couldn't share that with
- 28:23anyone. He had to keep it to himself.
- 28:24That's probably why he remained silent so much, because he
- 28:28couldn't speak anything about it.
- 28:30Because if he did and he let the enemy know that I'm going to die
- 28:35on this cross and I'm going to break the curse of death and I'm
- 28:37going to allow all these human beings to get into God's Kingdom
- 28:40by doing this, the enemy would have stopped it.
- 28:43The enemy wouldn't have killed him.
- 28:46So Jesus had to be quiet. And so here we see how
- 28:50insightful Jesus is to Peter when he says, get behind me,
- 28:54Satan, you are a stumbling block to me.
- 28:58You do not have in mind the concerns of God.
- 29:00So what's the concern of God? The concern of God is saving
- 29:03humanity is giving people a way to be in the Kingdom of God by
- 29:09Jesus breaking the curse on mankind that were, you know, by
- 29:14his atoning sacrifice on the cross.
- 29:18It says without the shedding of blood.
- 29:20This is in Hebrews. There is no forgiveness of sins.
- 29:23So that's why Jesus is so important.
- 29:26That's why all these religions who don't acknowledge Jesus are
- 29:30in for a very rude awakening, because they will not be covered
- 29:35by the blood of Jesus. They will be responsible for
- 29:38their own sin and be judged by God.
- 29:41Without a mediator. They're representing themselves
- 29:45and they have no one standing up for them.
- 29:48Those who accept Jesus, believe in Jesus, and make Jesus Lord
- 29:53over our lives and receive the Holy Spirit will not be judged
- 29:59in that same manner because we fall under the grace, the gift
- 30:02of God, that we will not be judged for our own actions.
- 30:06We've come to God in repentance, and God says He will remember
- 30:10our sins no more. This is the.
- 30:12Beauty of what God has done for us.
- 30:17So again, going back to what Jesus said to Peter, he's like,
- 30:21you do not have in mind the concerns of God.
- 30:24So God wants to save people. But merely human concerns now,
- 30:30Peter wasn't doing anything wrong.
- 30:32He was just reacting in a fleshly way, in a human way,
- 30:36like I'm going to protect you, Jesus, I don't want these people
- 30:39to take you. But.
- 30:40Jesus couldn't even tell Peter straightforwardly what he was
- 30:44doing by his death on this cross.
- 30:46He told him it was going to happen, but he couldn't quite
- 30:49tell Peter all the details because the enemy was present.
- 30:55So again. We see here that even someone
- 30:59close to Jesus can be influenced be by Satan, one of his
- 31:07disciples. So we should look at ourselves.
- 31:12Even if we are a Christian, even if Jesus is Lord over our life,
- 31:16that doesn't mean that Satan's not going to try.
- 31:19In fact, he's going to probably try harder with.
- 31:21US. Because he wants to destroy us
- 31:23and he knows we're closer to being in God's Kingdom and he
- 31:27does not want that to happen. So we just need to be able to
- 31:31recognize things that Satan does to get us off the narrow path.
- 31:37Then in Mark chapter one verse 13 and he was in the wilderness
- 31:42for 40 days being tempted by Satan.
- 31:45He was with wild animals and angels attended him.
- 31:48This is talking about Jesus after He got baptized in verse
- 31:52in Mark 3 verse 23. So Jesus called them over and
- 31:57over to Him and began to speak to them in parables.
- 32:00How can Satan drive out Satan? This is that similar one from
- 32:04Matthew 12 verse 26 that we talked about already about Satan
- 32:09divided. You know, He's divided against
- 32:11himself. And then in verse. 26 from Mark
- 32:16chapter 3 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he
- 32:21cannot stand his end has come. I think that's also insightful
- 32:26because often God will take Satan's people and turn them
- 32:32against one another and it is to their destruction.
- 32:36So sometimes and and and God is not doing anything outside of
- 32:40their will because God allows their will, their choices to
- 32:46proceed. But sometimes he can let enemy
- 32:50like they're both under the the enemy, like Satan Satan's ruling
- 32:54over two different groups, but they will fight against one
- 32:59another. We saw that many times in in
- 33:03the, in the Bible, in Israel's history where people just turned
- 33:07on themselves and they got. They just it was weird how it
- 33:12happened. I mean only through God that
- 33:14that happened. So but God lets people's free
- 33:18will sometimes destroy them. In Mark chapter 4 verse 15, some
- 33:24people are like seed along the path where the word is.
- 33:27Sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan
- 33:30comes and takes away the word that was sown in them.
- 33:33So that's something else that we need to be aware of, especially
- 33:36with new believers or people that we might talk to.
- 33:39If we are believers are ready and we're talking to other
- 33:41people, that as soon as they hear it, they might, they might
- 33:45take it. But then Satan comes along and
- 33:47does something that takes away the word that was sown in them.
- 33:52So the enemy, I mean, just like I personally experienced when I
- 33:55was trying to get closer to God, the bad things started happening
- 33:59in my life. And you know, so the enemy was
- 34:02probably trying to just like he did with Job, get me to get
- 34:07angry at God and turn away from him.
- 34:10That's probably what the enemy was doing.
- 34:12And I think that's what God was showing me was that you're being
- 34:16tested and and what are you going to do?
- 34:21So. It was helpful.
- 34:23To me, because then as soon as I knew the enemy, I was able, I
- 34:26was like, Oh no, you're not going to do that to me.
- 34:29So things changed after that. OK, in Mark chapter 8, verse 33,
- 34:35when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter,
- 34:40get behind me Satan. He said you do not have the in
- 34:42mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.
- 34:45So Mark was documenting that as well Luke 10 verse 18 he replied
- 34:52I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
- 34:56So this is Jesus talking about that.
- 34:58In Luke 11 verse 18 he says the same thing.
- 35:01It Jesus says this, if Satan is divided against himself, how can
- 35:05his Kingdom stand? I say this because you claim
- 35:09that I drive out demons by. Beezable.
- 35:13So Jesus is giving a little bit more insight because these
- 35:17people are saying you're doing these works, you're driving out
- 35:20demons because you're you. Are.
- 35:22Part of Satan's team and he's like, no, if that was the case,
- 35:26why would he? Why would he cast demons out of
- 35:29people? Because his Kingdom wouldn't
- 35:32stand if he did that. It's like, you're foolish
- 35:34people. And and so that's what they were
- 35:37claiming that he was doing that. And Jesus was like, Nope, you
- 35:41don't get it. So then in Luke chapter 13 verse
- 35:4416, then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom
- 35:50Satan has kept bound for 18 long years, be set free on the
- 35:55Sabbath day from what bound her? Now there's a lot here, but the
- 36:01point, the portion about Satan, is that he was the one who bound
- 36:07this woman for 18 long years. And she's a daughter of Abraham.
- 36:13So that could, I guess that could either mean she's an
- 36:18Israel person or she's, it doesn't really say because I
- 36:24don't know if she was a Gentile or an Israel, an Israelite.
- 36:31So I'm not really sure on that. But anyway, here's the I want to
- 36:37really look, read a little bit more about this because I think
- 36:39this is important to know on a Sabbath, Jesus was teaching in
- 36:45one of the synagogues. So it must have been an
- 36:48Israelite woman because she wouldn't have been in the
- 36:50synagogue, right? So and a woman who was there who
- 36:55had been crippled by a spirit for 18 years, she was bent over
- 36:59and could not straighten up at all.
- 37:02So the spirit Satan had crippled her for 18 years and made her
- 37:11bent over and she could not straighten up and she was an
- 37:16Israelite. Isn't that interesting?
- 37:19When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her,
- 37:22woman, you are set free from your infirmity.
- 37:27Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened
- 37:31up and praised God. Indignant because Jesus is
- 37:36healed on the Sabbath. So here we have the the the
- 37:41people who are invoking the law and don't understand the.
- 37:48Law. Indignant because Jesus had
- 37:50healed on the Sabbath because that was supposed to be a day of
- 37:52rest. The synagogue leader said to the
- 37:55people, there are 6 days for work, so come and be healed on
- 37:59those days, not on the Sabbath. The Lord answered them.
- 38:04You hypocrites, doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox
- 38:08or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?
- 38:12Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, who Satan
- 38:16has been kept bound for 18 years, be set free on the
- 38:20Sabbath from what bound her? When he said this, all his
- 38:25opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with
- 38:29all the wonderful things he was doing.
- 38:32So isn't that. I mean, there's so eye opening,
- 38:38so when we see sicknesses, they could be brought on by Satan.
- 38:43Just something to and the name of Jesus can heal people.
- 38:47There are miracles that happen today.
- 38:50It has to be in God's will. And what I've searched on about
- 38:55healing and miracles is that usually those occur to give God
- 39:00glory. So God is and, and to give God
- 39:04glory means to make people aware of God and of his goodness.
- 39:10And sometimes that doesn't always happen though, and we
- 39:14don't know why, but most of the times that we read about it in
- 39:20the Bible, there, there is a healing and maybe it has to do
- 39:25with unbelief by people or maybe it has to do with sin in
- 39:30somebody's life that they're hanging on to.
- 39:32I don't know. But it's definitely worth
- 39:37praying for the healing of people because God can
- 39:40absolutely do it. It's just a matter of it if it's
- 39:43his will or not. Or maybe he has another plan
- 39:45that we don't know of. And if we knew everything like
- 39:49God, then we would understand why maybe he doesn't heal
- 39:53somebody because there's another reason why he didn't do that.
- 39:57So OK, then in Luke 22 verse three, it says then Satan
- 40:03entered Judas called Iscariot one of the 12.
- 40:07So not only was Satan, you know, getting at Peter, but Satan
- 40:11entered Judas. So sounds like Satan possessed
- 40:16Judas. He entered him.
- 40:19I want to see what the original Hebrew or actually Greek word
- 40:22would be and Satan entered it's. Let me see, I'll have it
- 40:27pronounced here it because I won't pronounce this correctly.
- 40:32Strong's G1525 Ice air Hamai, ice air Hamai.
- 40:41So that word means to go out or come in to enter.
- 40:47So of Satan taking possession of the body of a person.
- 40:52So that's clearly what it says as far as, you know, Satan
- 40:56possessed Judas. So, and, and again, these are
- 41:02things that we also learned from the Bible is that, you know,
- 41:06sin. Judas did have sin.
- 41:09We all have sin. But that's why it's so important
- 41:12to stay close, to be protected. What I've learned recently is
- 41:17the Holy Spirit is like a glass wall that separates us from the
- 41:23devil, the enemy. And if we have the Holy Spirit,
- 41:26we are protected. And so that's why it's another
- 41:30reason why it's important not to grieve the Holy Spirit, not to
- 41:34do things that would cause the Holy Spirit to be upset with
- 41:37what we're doing, because that is our protection.
- 41:41The Holy Spirit is our protection and and also the name
- 41:47of Jesus is our protection because Jesus even says that
- 41:53when he's praying to the Father, he says and to protect them in
- 41:58my name, the name that in your name, the name that you gave me.
- 42:03So we are protected through the name of Jesus.
- 42:08So then let's see. Oh gosh, I've lost my all right,
- 42:14my place. So Satan entered Judas Iscariot,
- 42:17so maybe he wasn't surrendered completely.
- 42:20I think he was actually stealing money that they were collecting.
- 42:23There were things that Judas was doing.
- 42:25He wasn't a perfect one and and Jesus knew that was he was part
- 42:31of the group and maybe that's why Jesus chose him because
- 42:35Jesus was maybe this is speculation was thinking, you
- 42:39know, I have to die on this cross for the people so that I
- 42:42can make it possible for them to be in God's Kingdom.
- 42:46So therefore I need somebody close to me to betray me and to
- 42:51make this happen. And so he chose Judas because he
- 42:55knew what was in Judas's heart. And he's new, like God knows all
- 43:00these things. And he thought, OK, Satan's
- 43:02going to really want to get somebody close in my inner
- 43:04circle. He's going to want to go for
- 43:06that. So let's let him have Judas.
- 43:09He can have Judas, and then he can accomplish like Satan is
- 43:12basically accomplishing God's will.
- 43:15Isn't that crazy how God is sovereign and not crazy?
- 43:18That's not the right word. But isn't that awesome?
- 43:20And amazing how, you know, God uses everybody's free will to
- 43:26accomplish what he wants accomplished.
- 43:29So he is sovereign over everything.
- 43:31But he lets us figure out, Yeah. I mean, we can still do what we
- 43:35want within his sovereignty. That's that's pretty wild.
- 43:39So then again, Luke 22. Poor Peter here.
- 43:44So Simon. Simon, I think that was Peter.
- 43:47Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.
- 43:52So Satan, again, Satan must have asked Jesus or asked the Father,
- 44:01and Jesus knew from the Father what Satan was up to, but he
- 44:06wanted to probably do what he was had done to Job before to
- 44:11all of Jesus's disciples, all of Jesus's inner circles.
- 44:17Isn't that interesting? I want to leave, read a little
- 44:20bit more about that chapter here.
- 44:21So here's what Jesus responded. But I have prayed for you,
- 44:27Simon, that your faith may not fall and when you have turned
- 44:32back, strengthen your brothers. So this is really interesting.
- 44:38So Jesus prayed for Simon that your faith may not fall.
- 44:43Maybe we need to pray for others, especially when we have
- 44:46the Holy Spirit that we pray for others that their faith may not
- 44:49fall. But Jesus is also recognizing
- 44:53and when you have turned back, so Jesus already knew that
- 44:59something was going to happen, but then he said strengthen your
- 45:03brothers. So he already knew that Peter
- 45:07was going to turn his back on Jesus.
- 45:12But then he said, when you come back, strengthen your brothers,
- 45:14like let them learn from your mistake and build them up.
- 45:18And so Peter says, but he replied, Lord, I'm ready to go
- 45:21with you to prison and to death. And then Jesus was like, OK
- 45:25buddy, you know, you are my buddy, you are my friend.
- 45:28But Jesus answered, I tell you Peter, before the rooster crows
- 45:32today you will deny 3 times that you know me.
- 45:36Then Jesus asked them, When I sent you without a purse, bag or
- 45:40sandals, did you lack anything? Nothing.
- 45:42They answered, He said to them, But if you have a purse, take it
- 45:47and also a bag. But if you don't have a sword,
- 45:49sell your cloak and buy one. It is written.
- 45:53And he was numbered with transgressors.
- 45:56And I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me.
- 46:01Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.
- 46:06The disciples said, see, Lord, here are two swords.
- 46:11That's enough, he replied. There's a lot more in there that
- 46:15I could go on with a whole nother conversation and I
- 46:18haven't studied it enough. But this is oh, something else
- 46:25that it was right above all this stuff where it says, Simon,
- 46:27Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.
- 46:31And here's what this is. This is interesting.
- 46:34Like this is something that Jesus, this is going to be a
- 46:36revelation for us. You know, when you think about
- 46:39the elders and and who is and Jesus isn't, he will judge.
- 46:45But then listen to this in Luke 22, verse 29.
- 46:48And I confer on you a Kingdom just as my father conferred on
- 46:54me. So Jesus receives the Kingdom
- 46:59from the Father and then he says in verse 30, so that you may eat
- 47:05and drink at my table in my Kingdom and sit on Thrones
- 47:10judging the 12 tribes of Israel. So Jesus's disciples are going
- 47:17to be judging the 12 tribes of Israel.
- 47:21Isn't that interesting? So these are just things that I
- 47:25just didn't pay attention to what I read over it.
- 47:27And sometimes you read quickly and you don't pick up on those
- 47:29little verses. And then when you do a word
- 47:32search, you find these things and it's like, oh wow, that's
- 47:35very clear what's going to happen.
- 47:38So then in the book of Acts, Peter said, and this is Acts
- 47:44chapter 5, verse 3. Then Peter said, Ananias, how is
- 47:47it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the
- 47:52Holy Spirit and have kept yourself some money you received
- 47:55for the land? So I think Ananias was a priest
- 47:59or something, no? Well maybe not, I don't, I don't
- 48:05know. Now a man named Ananias,
- 48:07together with his wife Sapphira also sold a pop a piece of
- 48:11property with his wife's full knowledge.
- 48:13They kept back part of the money for themselves, put the rest of
- 48:17it at the apostles feet. These were just other believers.
- 48:21I don't know if there's anything more significant about them, but
- 48:26this is Satan is another, you know, way that he's has so
- 48:31filled your heart. Well, how does Satan fill
- 48:33somebody's heart? Maybe it's something that
- 48:37someone desires and Satan, because somebody desires it.
- 48:42Satan is like, yeah, you should have it.
- 48:45God wants you to have good things.
- 48:47And maybe it's not from God. And and so Satan will convince
- 48:53them that they, you know, will kind of like encourage that
- 48:58maybe Ananias was had a little bit of idolatry with money.
- 49:04And so Satan, you know, puts these lies into his head and
- 49:08says. Well, just keep a little.
- 49:10Bit for yourself and your wife, you don't have to give it all.
- 49:13You don't have to give all the money and just tell them this is
- 49:15all the money and just keep the other part of it.
- 49:17And they did it. And then Peter rebuked him about
- 49:20that. They're like, how is it that,
- 49:23you know, Satan filled your heart that you've lied to the
- 49:26Holy Spirit? So what happened to them is
- 49:29actually both husband and wife died as a result of that because
- 49:33their heart was not right with God.
- 49:36So that's really important for all of us to examine our heart
- 49:41and make sure that our heart is right with God, that we do have
- 49:45our hearts set on serving God and being his child.
- 49:49And and Jesus said, if you love me, obey my commandments.
- 49:52So that's a simple way that we can show God that we love him is
- 49:56by being obedient. So Acts 26, verse 18 to open
- 50:02their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the
- 50:05power of Satan to God so that they may receive forgiveness of
- 50:11sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.
- 50:16Boy, there is a lot in that statement.
- 50:21So this is this is about I'll just read from verse 12.
- 50:28So you get the context of it. One-on-one of these journeys I
- 50:32was going to Damascus with the authority and Commission of the
- 50:35chief priest about noon, King Agrippa.
- 50:39As I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than
- 50:43the sun blazing around me and my companions.
- 50:46We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in
- 50:50Aramaic, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?
- 50:55It is hard for you to kick against the goads.
- 50:59Then I asked, Who are you, Lord? I am Jesus, whom you are
- 51:04persecuting, the Lord replied. Now get up and stand on your
- 51:08feet. I have appeared to you to
- 51:11appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen,
- 51:17and you will see of me. I will rescue you from your own
- 51:23people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open
- 51:29their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the
- 51:33power of Satan to God, so that they may receive the forgiveness
- 51:38of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in
- 51:43Me. So this is Paul giving his
- 51:48testimony to King Agrippa about what happened in his own life
- 51:53when Jesus appeared before him. And Paul was given a mission by
- 51:58Jesus. He was appointed as a servant to
- 52:01go and speak to the Gentiles, and his purpose was to open
- 52:06their eyes and turn them from darkness to light.
- 52:10Darkness is the power of Satan to light is to God, and so it's
- 52:17repentance so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and
- 52:22a place among those that's placed in God's Kingdom, among
- 52:26those who are sanctified. That means made pure by faith in
- 52:32me. It's by us believing what Jesus
- 52:35said, by us believing the Holy Spirit changes us.
- 52:38It's our belief, but it's through the power of God that
- 52:42changes our life and it's by our faith.
- 52:45Our belief is is shown by how we live our life.
- 52:53So it's faith with action. We have faith so that produces
- 52:59an action in US. And when we have the Holy
- 53:02Spirit, that action is a changed life.
- 53:05We've become a new creation. There is going to.
- 53:08Be a difference that others, not just ourselves, will recognize
- 53:13they. Will somebody who's known you
- 53:16before you receive the Holy Spirit and after you receive the
- 53:19Holy Spirit will definitely see a change in in you in the way
- 53:26you live life. Really OK then Romans 16 verse
- 53:3220, the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
- 53:37The grace of the Lord be with you.
- 53:39So that's I guess in a letter, probably to the Romans from Paul
- 53:44about the God of peace, Jesus. Will soon crush Satan.
- 53:50Then in First Corinthians 5, verse five, hand this man over
- 53:53to Satan for the destruction of the flesh so that his spirit may
- 53:58be saved on the day of the Lord. This is a really interesting one
- 54:02because this involves, I think, a backsliding person.
- 54:06I'm going to read a little bit more about this, but he's, he's
- 54:10basically a backsliding person in a church and he's like, hand
- 54:13this person over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh.
- 54:16So Satan's going to destroy, but this is the hope that God has
- 54:22that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
- 54:28So he's going to let Satan do destruction in this person's
- 54:32life, in this backsliders life. So let me read about this one.
- 54:38OK, This was actually a it says, dealing with a case of incest.
- 54:44It is actually reported here that there is sexual immorality
- 54:48among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate.
- 54:52A man is sleeping with his father's wife, OK.
- 54:56I don't know. This is more like, OK, so yeah,
- 55:01a man is sleeping with his father's wife.
- 55:04And you are proud. Shouldn't you rather have gone
- 55:07into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who
- 55:11has been doing this? So this is something within the
- 55:12church. For my part, even though I am
- 55:16not physically present, I am with you in spirit.
- 55:19As one who is present with you in this way, I have already
- 55:22passed judgement in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who
- 55:26has been doing this. So here's another thing.
- 55:29A lot of people say, well, Christians shouldn't judge, but
- 55:32what if they're doing something, they're in the church and
- 55:34they're doing something that is completely against God's word?
- 55:41We're not a church or fellow. Believers are not judging in the
- 55:48sense of saying the final verdict is that you're going to.
- 55:53Hell. I mean, we don't have that
- 55:55authority. We can't say that, but look at
- 55:59Paul is saying, I have already passed judgement in the name of
- 56:04our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this.
- 56:08So maybe he told him about Scripture and reminded him of
- 56:13this. I don't know.
- 56:15So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit and the
- 56:18power of the Lord Jesus's present hand this man over to
- 56:23Satan for the destruction of the flesh so that his spirit may be
- 56:26saved on the day of the Lord. And he says your boasting is not
- 56:31good. Don't you know that a little
- 56:32yeast. Yeast is referred to as sin
- 56:35leavens the whole batch of dough.
- 56:37So if you allow this like backsliding person, he's already
- 56:41in the church. If you allow this to continue
- 56:44and you don't address it, it's going to destroy all the dough.
- 56:48And so he says, get rid of the old yeast so that you may be a
- 56:53new unleavened brat batch as you really are.
- 56:58For Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed.
- 57:03Therefore, let us keep the festival, not with the.
- 57:07Old. Bread leavened with malice and
- 57:09wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity
- 57:12and truth. I wrote to you in my letter not
- 57:15to associate with sexually immoral people.
- 57:20Not at all. Meaning the people of the world
- 57:22who are immoral or the greedy and the swindlers or idolaters.
- 57:27In that case, you would have to leave this world.
- 57:29But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with
- 57:34anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is
- 57:38sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, A
- 57:43drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such
- 57:46people. So Paul is pretty strict about
- 57:50this, saying that if somebody's calling, if they're basically a
- 57:53hypocritical Christian, don't hang out with them.
- 57:57Like you can hang out with people who aren't, who know that
- 58:01they're not a believer yet because only, well, like Jesus
- 58:06did. I mean, the purpose would be to
- 58:08bring them to Jesus, but if they're not going to come to.
- 58:11Jesus. Then there's, you know.
- 58:16Well, I guess he doesn't say that.
- 58:18Like stop trying except if they reject it, there is a part about
- 58:22shaking the dust off your feet and just being gone.
- 58:25Like God's judgement, we'll take care of that.
- 58:27Like, I don't know that we are necessarily responsible to
- 58:32follow through with every single person that we talked to, but
- 58:37somebody else might interact with that person and lead them
- 58:41to Christ. But.
- 58:44We have to make the effort. And if we're seeing that our
- 58:49effort is not being productive, maybe it's time to spend time
- 58:53elsewhere. And but especially this isn't
- 58:57about the worldly people because he says, you know, you'd have to
- 59:00leave the world if you weren't going to associate with people
- 59:03who do these things. But it's sexually immoral or
- 59:08greedy or an idolater or slanderer or drunkard or
- 59:11swindler. Do not even eat with such
- 59:14people. So how can you, unless you
- 59:20observe? Maybe observe is a better word
- 59:23than judgement or discern. But you have to look at the way
- 59:27people, the fruit of somebody's life, and if they're in church,
- 59:30they're calling themselves a Christian, calling themselves a
- 59:33believer, yet they're doing all of these things.
- 59:37That's a hypocrite. Basically he's just saying don't
- 59:40associate with hypocrites within the church.
- 59:43So First Corinthians chapter 5 that's covers that.
- 59:49Then this is about relationships.
- 59:52First Corinthians 7 verse 5 do not deprive each other, except
- 59:57perhaps by mutual consent and for a.
- 1:00:00Time so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, then come
- 1:00:04together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of
- 1:00:08your lack of self-control. So this was advice to the
- 1:00:14Corinthians about in a marriage, about having sex.
- 1:00:20And, and basically, you know, you know, I mean, that's
- 1:00:25important. And he's like, do not deprive
- 1:00:30each other except perhaps by mutual consent for a time so
- 1:00:34that you may devote yourselves to prayer, then come together
- 1:00:37again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack
- 1:00:41of self-control. So God can you know God gave
- 1:00:47made humans to have sex. Sex is not bad but we can use it
- 1:00:54in a bad way and the enemy can use it in a bad way.
- 1:00:57God has a certain parameters around it.
- 1:01:00It's supposed to be from a married with a married couple
- 1:01:04and both are supposed to submit to one another.
- 1:01:09And the enemy though, twist it all where it's like, OK, you
- 1:01:14don't have to be married. It can be with anyone and it can
- 1:01:17be for a time and as long as you're both like not seeing
- 1:01:20anybody else, you can do that. Those are all lies from the
- 1:01:22enemy. That's not what God said.
- 1:01:24And again, we have to know what scripture says or else we will
- 1:01:27fall into what Satan's trying to do.
- 1:01:29He's trying to separate us. Sin separates us from God.
- 1:01:34So if we willingly are being sexually immoral, then we are
- 1:01:43willingly separating ourselves from God.
- 1:01:46That's what Scripture tells us. We may not like to hear that,
- 1:01:49but that's what we're doing. And if we read Scripture, we
- 1:01:52will see that. All right, Romans 16, verse 20.
- 1:01:58This is, I think I've read that already.
- 1:01:59So let's go 2nd Corinthians 2 verse 11 in order that Satan
- 1:02:07might not outwit us for we are not unaware of his schemes.
- 1:02:11OK, this is kind of what I was talking about earlier is that we
- 1:02:15just need to know how he operates.
- 1:02:19So this is talking about forgiveness.
- 1:02:22Anyone you forgive, I also forgive.
- 1:02:24And what I have forgiven, if there was anything to forgive, I
- 1:02:28have forgiven in the sight of of Christ for your sake, in order
- 1:02:34that Satan might not outwit us, for we are not unaware of his
- 1:02:39schemes. I think this may be relevant to
- 1:02:44anger because usually if somebody wrongs you, there's
- 1:02:48anger involved with it. And it says do not like, do not
- 1:02:53be angered in your anger. Do not let Satan get a foothold
- 1:02:57so the anger can. If if we don't.
- 1:03:00Forgive others and we hold on to our anger about how they've
- 1:03:04wronged us if we don't let it go.
- 1:03:07That's giving Satan a root. And this is again, a way that he
- 1:03:12can outwit us, as Paul says, because we need to be aware of
- 1:03:18his schemes and know how to resist that.
- 1:03:23And then in 2nd Corinthians 11 verse 14, And this is a key one,
- 1:03:29and no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an Angel of
- 1:03:33light, so it says. It is not surprising then if his
- 1:03:40servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness.
- 1:03:45Their end will be what their actions deserve.
- 1:03:49And the sentence before Satan masquerading as an Angel of
- 1:03:53light, it says for such people are false apostles, deceitful
- 1:03:58workers masquerading as apostles of Christ.
- 1:04:04So there's there's a lot of that.
- 1:04:07Let's see, this is about false apostles and the deception.
- 1:04:14So there's going to be people infiltrating the church.
- 1:04:17And I think the Satan's probably done a good job of this.
- 1:04:21When there are people who have church hurt where they reject,
- 1:04:27they reject God because of their experience with somebody that
- 1:04:30called themselves a Christian. And they because they were not
- 1:04:37grounded in their faith, they hadn't read the Bible, they
- 1:04:41didn't understand the Bible, they didn't read it, They didn't
- 1:04:43know that there are hypocrites. Then all of a sudden they're
- 1:04:47lumping all of Christianity with their experience of a person who
- 1:04:52wasn't a Christian but called themselves a Christian because
- 1:04:57people can deceive themselves and call themselves Christians.
- 1:05:00It's easy to call yourself a Christian.
- 1:05:01You could, you could be an atheist and call yourself a
- 1:05:04Christian if you wanted to, if you wanted to fool someone.
- 1:05:07But it's it's like, what do you truly believe?
- 1:05:11What is truly in your heart? How do you live your life?
- 1:05:14And do you have the Holy Spirit? And so there's people who don't
- 1:05:18have the Holy Spirit who call themselves a Christian.
- 1:05:22They could show up, they could serve, they could do all these
- 1:05:25good things in the church, but they might be living a very
- 1:05:29sinful life and deceiving other people because other people see
- 1:05:35some of their outward actions and they see them serving.
- 1:05:37They see them doing these good things or maybe giving the poor
- 1:05:40or whatever it is, and they see these things happening, but and
- 1:05:45so they assume they're Christian.
- 1:05:46But then when they experience something, they experience some
- 1:05:50non Christian behavior out of them and then they're like,
- 1:05:53well, if that's what Christian people do, I don't want to be a.
- 1:05:55Part of that. You know, they're so, you know,
- 1:06:00Satan, just like he wanted to get in to Christ Jesus's inner
- 1:06:05circle of apostles, disciples, and he wanted to sift them like
- 1:06:10wheat. Don't you think he wants to do
- 1:06:12that in the church too? So we need to not be ignorant of
- 1:06:17his strategies and to see that, you know, be observant, Get to
- 1:06:22know what Galatians chapter 5 says about someone who has the
- 1:06:26Holy Spirit and someone who doesn't have the Holy Spirit so
- 1:06:30that we are not deceived. And then in 2nd Corinthians 12
- 1:06:37verse 7, it says because of these unsurpassingly great
- 1:06:41revelations, therefore in order to keep me from being conceited,
- 1:06:45I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment
- 1:06:48me. So Paul has talked about this
- 1:06:51before. He was pleading with God to take
- 1:06:54away this whatever was affecting him.
- 1:06:57And here we see this is a messenger of Satan.
- 1:07:00So this is probably some spiritual thing.
- 1:07:02What the spiritual thing was doing to Paul, who knows?
- 1:07:07But it was something, he referred to it as a thorn in my
- 1:07:11flesh, you know, maybe something that he, you know, like fleshly
- 1:07:17desires maybe. And there was a messenger of
- 1:07:20Satan that was just tormenting him, like trying to get him to
- 1:07:23sin. And who knows what it was?
- 1:07:27And but it it says, therefore, in order to keep me from being
- 1:07:32conceited. So Paul is completely aware.
- 1:07:36He knows this is a messenger of Satan and he knows that it's to
- 1:07:41keep him from being conceited. So whatever it was, it doesn't,
- 1:07:45the Bible doesn't say, but it's it's awesome that Paul
- 1:07:49recognized that it was a messenger of Satan and the
- 1:07:53purpose was so he didn't become conceited.
- 1:07:57So maybe it was something in his body that made him so he
- 1:08:01couldn't be conceited. I don't know.
- 1:08:02But it says a messenger of Satan to torment me.
- 1:08:05So it sounds like it's more mental than physical.
- 1:08:09Who knows? But Paul is recognizing Satan
- 1:08:12and that's what I think is important for us too, in First
- 1:08:16Thessalonians 2 verse 18, for we wanted to come to you.
- 1:08:20Certainly I Paul did again and again, but Satan blocked our
- 1:08:25way. Sometimes Satan can block our
- 1:08:29way. We saw that in Daniel when he
- 1:08:33prayed and Michael the Archangel came to him and he said, as soon
- 1:08:37as you prayed and the word went out, we came.
- 1:08:40But the Prince of Persia, this is the heavenly realms, the
- 1:08:43spiritual realm resisted him for 21 days, and he wasn't able to
- 1:08:49bring the message back to Daniel.
- 1:08:52So that happens in the spiritual realm, but apparently this
- 1:08:56happens in the physical realm too.
- 1:08:58And again, Paul recognized it like he had an intention to go
- 1:09:02this way. That's another reason why we
- 1:09:04should always pray to God because God has angels that can
- 1:09:08come at the request and we can ask God if, if it's his will for
- 1:09:14this certain thing to be done, that he protect the way and
- 1:09:18allow it to happen. And so our prayers, especially
- 1:09:22if we are righteous, if we are living in obedience to God, our
- 1:09:25prayers are important. Just like Abraham's prayed for
- 1:09:29his his nephew Lot to be spared and God did, he said, because it
- 1:09:35said God remembered Abraham and he spared Lot in it.
- 1:09:40He was going to be his whole family.
- 1:09:41But anyway, so prayers are important.
- 1:09:44It's important for I mean, that's a benefit of being
- 1:09:48righteous, of being obedient to God's laws is that our prayers
- 1:09:53are powerful. And then 2nd Thessalonians 2,
- 1:09:57verse 9, the coming of the lawless one will be in
- 1:10:01accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of
- 1:10:04displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie.
- 1:10:10So this is talking about the lawless one, or the Antichrist
- 1:10:13as some people call him, and that's what people believe this
- 1:10:17is. And he's going to use.
- 1:10:22So it it continues on in verse 10.
- 1:10:26I'll just read. Yeah, I'll read all of it.
- 1:10:28But coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how
- 1:10:31Satan works. Now he's going to tell us how he
- 1:10:33works. He uses all sorts of displays of
- 1:10:35power through signs and wonders that serve the lie and all the
- 1:10:40ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing.
- 1:10:45They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be
- 1:10:51saved. So the Bible is the truth, Jesus
- 1:10:55is the truth. I am the way, the truth and the
- 1:10:57life. That's what Jesus says.
- 1:10:59And so if you're refusing to love the truth, you're refusing
- 1:11:04to love Jesus and so be saved. And Jesus says, if you love me,
- 1:11:09obey my commands. So there is obedience that comes
- 1:11:12along with that too. So these people that are
- 1:11:15perishing, they're not obedient to God.
- 1:11:18They refuse to love Jesus, and that's how they'd be saved.
- 1:11:22But then it continues in verse 11.
- 1:11:24For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they
- 1:11:30will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have
- 1:11:36not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
- 1:11:40So people choose to reject Jesus and they delight in their
- 1:11:48wickedness. They don't want to give up their
- 1:11:50sin. They want to keep it.
- 1:11:51They don't want Jesus. And so they, they, it's here,
- 1:11:58you know, saying that they're going to be, they're going to
- 1:12:01get a powerful delusion. It's a warning.
- 1:12:05So we have to be careful. First Timothy.
- 1:12:09Timothy 120. Among them are Hymenaeus and
- 1:12:12Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not
- 1:12:17to blasphemy. That's interesting.
- 1:12:20So that sounds like I haven't really read this one.
- 1:12:25I don't know if Hymenaeus and Alexander, I don't know if they
- 1:12:28were part of the church, but he said he handed them over to
- 1:12:31Satan to be taught not to blasphemy.
- 1:12:34So maybe they were part of the church and they were doing
- 1:12:37something against, I haven't researched that or read that in
- 1:12:41detail, but similar to what they were talking about, that sexual
- 1:12:45immoral guy that was in the church that Paul said to hand
- 1:12:48him over to Satan so that his flesh could be tormented so that
- 1:12:53hopefully so that maybe his soul may be saved on the day of the
- 1:12:57Lord. And so here another couple of
- 1:13:00people are being handed over to Satan and they are supposedly
- 1:13:05being taught not to blasphemy. And then First Timothy 5:15, it
- 1:13:11says some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan.
- 1:13:16So this is listen to this is about widows.
- 1:13:27This is a this is a interesting thing.
- 1:13:31Yeah, this is about widows, elders and slaves.
- 1:13:34But it says. There's a lot here.
- 1:13:47Let me see. I've some have, in fact.
- 1:13:50OK, let's read where it is. So I counsel younger women to
- 1:13:54marry, to have children, to manage their homes, and to give
- 1:13:58the enemy no opportunity for slander.
- 1:14:01Some have, in fact, already turned.
- 1:14:03Away to follow Satan. So if any woman who is a
- 1:14:08believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them
- 1:14:11and not let the church be burdened with them so that the
- 1:14:13church can help those widows who are really in need.
- 1:14:17So this is this is just talking about yeah, widows within the
- 1:14:24church. As for younger widows, do not
- 1:14:26put them on the list, for when their sensual desires overcome
- 1:14:30their dedication to Christ, they want to marry.
- 1:14:33Thus they bring judgment on themselves because they have
- 1:14:37broken their first pledge. Besides, they get into the habit
- 1:14:41of being idle and going about from house to house and not only
- 1:14:45do they become idlers, but also. Busy, busy bodies who talk
- 1:14:49nonsense, saying things they ought not to.
- 1:14:53So I counsel the younger women to marry, to have children, to
- 1:14:56manage their homes and give the enemy no opportunity for
- 1:14:59slander. Some have in fact already turned
- 1:15:01away to follow Satan. Pretty strong words about
- 1:15:05widows. Then we have the Book of
- 1:15:08Revelation and Revelation 2. I know this is when Jesus is
- 1:15:14talking about the churches are talking to the churches or
- 1:15:18giving messages to the churches in Revelation 2, verse 9.
- 1:15:22I know your afflictions and your poverty, yet you are rich.
- 1:15:26I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and
- 1:15:30are not but are a synagogue of Satan.
- 1:15:35So again, there's hypocrites in the Jewish faith just like there
- 1:15:38are in the Christian faith. So I know, and then Revelation
- 1:15:45213, I know where you live, where Satan has his throne, yet
- 1:15:50you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith
- 1:15:54in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness,
- 1:15:58who was put to death in your city where Satan lives.
- 1:16:02This is interesting because Pergamum, it's in Turkey is
- 1:16:06where Satan has his throne apparently, and I don't know all
- 1:16:11the details of that, but I just know I, I paid attention.
- 1:16:14I was like, oh, where is this? Where does Satan have his
- 1:16:16throne? But Satan could have his throne
- 1:16:18in many places because it also talks about in Ezekiel, it was
- 1:16:23talking about in Iran where God was going to place his throne.
- 1:16:29So basically all the places where Satan has set up his
- 1:16:31throne, God's going to take over all of that eventually.
- 1:16:35Jesus is. So let's see.
- 1:16:40Revelation 39 I will make those who are of the synagogue of
- 1:16:44Satan, who claim to be Jews that they are not, but are liars.
- 1:16:48I will make them come and fall down at your.
- 1:16:50Feet and acknowledge that I have loved you so then we get into
- 1:16:56Revelation chapter 12 the great dragon who was hurled down that
- 1:17:00ancient serpent like the one that was in Eden called the
- 1:17:04devil or Satan who leads the whole world astray.
- 1:17:07He was hurled to earth and his angels with him.
- 1:17:11That's where we get the concept of the fallen angels in
- 1:17:14Revelation 20 verse two he sees the dragon that ancient serpent
- 1:17:18who is the devil or Satan and bound him for 1000 years.
- 1:17:22So this is. Is it the Angel or?
- 1:17:27Yeah it's an Angel. I and I saw an Angel coming down
- 1:17:31out of heaven having a key to the abyss.
- 1:17:34It's probably Jesus and holding in his hand a great chain.
- 1:17:38He sees the dragon, the ancient servant who is the devil and
- 1:17:41bound him for 1000 years. Then in Revelation 20 verse 7 it
- 1:17:47says when the 1000 years are over Satan will be released from
- 1:17:50his prison. First time I read.
- 1:17:52That I was like. I panicked, but the good news is
- 1:17:57that shortly after that, God just ends him and and he's like,
- 1:18:05I guess thrown into the burning lake of sulfur.
- 1:18:07And again, that could relate back to Tyre that we were
- 1:18:11reading about. Like he's out in the sea and the
- 1:18:13seas can be symbolic of many peoples and they will see this
- 1:18:16happen to him where he will be destroyed because when he gets
- 1:18:20out of his prison, he's going to rile up people from the ends of
- 1:18:25the earth and they're going to come against the Lord and all of
- 1:18:29the faithful ones, but God supernaturally is going to
- 1:18:34destroy them. So there is good news in the end
- 1:18:37of that. So that was the search for
- 1:18:41Satan. But there's still more about the
- 1:18:46devil, because sometimes it's called.
- 1:18:47Both. He has different things.
- 1:18:49So I gosh, there's 33 verses here.
- 1:18:55I think I'm going to make a Part 2 because this one, this podcast
- 1:18:59is now an hour and 18 minutes. So I'm going to continue with
- 1:19:02the next podcast on a separate one.
