How Long Will the Trump-Putin Affair Last?
Trump believes personal diplomacy and economic deals can bring Putin closer to peace. Putin may see the same relationship very differently: as an opportunity to normalize Russia’s position, weaken Ukraine’s leverage and return Moscow to the table of great powers without giving up much in return. The question is not only how long the Trump-Putin relationship can last, but what Putin will have gained by the time Trump decides the affair is over.
