Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / The Influencer Necklace Theft Scandal
Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:07Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:11Speaker 1: Kate Torber and coming up on today's show, the influencer
- 0:15Speaker 1: witch hunt over a stolen necklace, Tammy Hembrough calls out
- 0:19Speaker 1: clout chasing exes and Matt Sikowsky's on-air blunder. But first,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Sky Wheatley has jetted off to Fiji without her baby
- 0:27Speaker 1: daddy Lockie Waugh and their two kids amid breakup rumours
- 0:30Speaker 1: So the former Big Brother contestant recently said she was
- 0:33Speaker 1: in relationship limbo. Yeah, things have been really up and
- 0:36Speaker 1: down for Sky and Lockie. About two weeks ago in
- 0:39Speaker 1: an Instagram live, she confirmed that the couple had broken
- 0:41Speaker 1: up and that's after they have been together for seven years.
- 0:45Speaker 1: But she's since reneged on her own podcast and said
- 0:47Speaker 1: that they're actually on a break and are eventually going
- 0:49Speaker 1: to try and work things out. It seems like maybe
- 0:52Speaker 1: they need a bit of space and time to think
- 0:54Speaker 1: about things and Maybe that's why Sky has put an
- 0:57Speaker 1: ocean between herself and her problem. I was surprised when
- 1:00Speaker 1: I saw she was in Fiji, though, because it was
- 1:02Speaker 1: only this time last year that she and Lockie went
- 1:04Speaker 1: on this big family trip there. Yeah, well, as soon
- 1:06Speaker 1: as she started posting that she was setting off for Fiji,
- 1:09Speaker 1: a lot of her followers were desperate to know if
- 1:11Speaker 1: Lockie was there because it wasn't quite clear initially. And
- 1:15Speaker 1: she ended up sharing a Q & A box. And
- 1:17Speaker 1: one follower asked, is Lockie with you in Fiji? And
- 1:20Speaker 1: she responded saying, nope, I'm here with my mum and
- 1:23Speaker 1: my sister. Another follower wrote in saying, tell us about lock, babe.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And Sky ended up responding, all in good time, my loves.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Got some healing to do. Don't worry, I will be
- 1:33Speaker 1: open and honest with everything. All will be revealed, just
- 1:36Speaker 1: navigating everything the best I can. Now, another person asked,
- 1:41Speaker 1: will you sell the house now once it's done? And
- 1:45Speaker 1: Sky ended up saying, she's not sure yet and is
- 1:47Speaker 1: taking every day as it comes. So They are some
- 1:49Speaker 1: pretty interesting questions to answer whilst you are away. Well,
- 1:53Speaker 1: when you're in the midst of a public breakup and
- 1:55Speaker 1: you put up a question and answer box, you're basically
- 1:58Speaker 1: inviting people to ask you about your ex, aren't you? Well,
- 2:02Speaker 1: she knows it's good for engagement. And I also think
- 2:04Speaker 1: that she is quite aware that she doesn't want to
- 2:06Speaker 1: look like she's holding back from her audience because she's
- 2:09Speaker 1: always been an influencer who's known for being really transparent
- 2:12Speaker 1: and having that connection with them. I mean, it's quite
- 2:14Speaker 1: clear that both her and Lockie don't know what's going
- 2:16Speaker 1: on at the moment and they're just navigating it. in
- 2:19Speaker 1: real time with everyone else. Yeah, as best they can.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So we just had an influencer steal from us.
- 2:27Speaker 1: A Sydney jewellery brand has ignited a witch hunt after
- 2:30Speaker 1: the owner claimed an influencer stole one of their necklaces.
- 2:34Speaker 1: It didn't take long for some of Australia's biggest internet
- 2:36Speaker 1: stars to be dragged into the drama, Kate. Can you
- 2:39Speaker 1: tell us more? Well, it all started when Amy Bradley,
- 2:42Speaker 1: the co-founder of Luna Ray, took to TikTok to accuse
- 2:46Speaker 1: an unnamed influencer of stealing a necklace. Now, the necklace
- 2:50Speaker 1: in question was described as being uniquely designed and retailed
- 2:55Speaker 1: for $ 360. Interestingly, the alleged theft didn't actually take place
- 3:00Speaker 1: at their Northern Beaches boutique, but instead online. So Amy
- 3:05Speaker 1: claims the influencer purchased the necklace via Lunaray's Shopify online storefront.
- 3:10Speaker 1: but several weeks later requested a refund after claiming they
- 3:14Speaker 1: never received the order. Now, the owner says that she
- 3:17Speaker 1: gave Shopify all of the relevant details that they needed
- 3:19Speaker 1: to prove that the influencer got the delivery. However, the
- 3:23Speaker 1: e-commerce platform ended up deliberating in the influencer's favor and
- 3:27Speaker 1: the influencer got her money automatically refunded through Shopify. Therefore,
- 3:32Speaker 1: the brand ended up losing the necklace and the money.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So Amy was very unhappy with this outcome and she
- 3:39Speaker 1: ended up doing some digging on TikTok and came across
- 3:42Speaker 1: the influencer's account. And it's there where she made a
- 3:46Speaker 1: startling discovery. Let's take a listen.
- 3:50Speaker 2: We kept looking into it and we found the customer
- 3:53Speaker 2: on TikTok. And guess what she's.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Got all over her neck?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Our $ 360 uniquely designed necklace. We know it's our necklace
- 4:04Speaker 2: and she's wearing it in all of her TikToks. She
- 4:07Speaker 2: is an influencer. She has been on a reality show.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Who does that?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Brazen can you get to wear said necklace in all
- 4:17Speaker 1: of your TikTok videos? How do you not think that
- 4:19Speaker 1: you're going to get caught out? Yeah, and I think
- 4:21Speaker 1: that's what Amy, the owner, was really playing on because
- 4:24Speaker 1: she ended up showing an image of the unique necklace
- 4:27Speaker 1: and asked TikTok what they would do in this situation.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Basically saying, let's see who can go find the influencer
- 4:34Speaker 1: wearing the necklace. And it didn't take long for the
- 4:36Speaker 1: comment section to be flooded with people accusing influencers of
- 4:40Speaker 1: being the alleged thief. This, of course, fed into TikTok's
- 4:44Speaker 1: algorithm and the video went viral. At the time of recording,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it's notched up 2.8 million views. Now, at midnight the
- 4:51Speaker 1: following day, Amy provided an update saying things had gotten
- 4:54Speaker 1: out of control. Let's take a listen to what she said.
- 4:58Speaker 2: People are getting really crazy about it and people are like,
- 5:01Speaker 2: they want blood.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It's really full on.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And I very much appreciate the support of a small brand.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I really do.
- 5:08Speaker 2: But we can't tag influencers that have nothing to do
- 5:12Speaker 2: with this. Like none of these people are this person.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Now, Amy went on to say that they won't be
- 5:18Speaker 1: naming and shaming the influencer. And the purpose of the
- 5:21Speaker 1: video was to get advice about what to do. She
- 5:24Speaker 1: also confirmed that they now have recorded all of the
- 5:27Speaker 1: content the influencer posted and have reported her to the police.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I don't necessarily believe this. I don't think that they
- 5:33Speaker 1: were simply asking for advice. I think that they wanted
- 5:36Speaker 1: customers to go on a bit of a witch hunt.
- 5:38Speaker 1: and track this person down, they're obviously very upset and
- 5:41Speaker 1: rightly so, particularly because this is a small business. I
- 5:44Speaker 1: think things just got out of hand though. Well, Amy
- 5:46Speaker 1: did admit that she was feeling quite ragey when she
- 5:48Speaker 1: shared the TikTok. So I think it was all driven
- 5:51Speaker 1: on emotion. She wasn't really intending for this to go viral.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And I suppose it's almost backfired a bit because there's
- 5:56Speaker 1: a lot of influencers who are now in the firing
- 5:58Speaker 1: line and won't potentially want to work with this brand
- 6:00Speaker 1: going forward.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Well, a day later, Amy posted another update on TikTok.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And this time she said that the brand was moderating
- 6:08Speaker 1: the comments on the original video and removing the name
- 6:11Speaker 1: of accused influencers. And she also shared that a business
- 6:14Speaker 1: had been implicated in the theft as the necklace was
- 6:17Speaker 1: purchased on a company credit card. In terms of the
- 6:20Speaker 1: influencers who were dragged into the mess, the names included
- 6:23Speaker 1: Abby Chatfield, Ashley Day, Jessica Power, All Right Hay, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: Vanessa Amirotti. And it was interesting to see this unfold
- 6:31Speaker 1: on other content creators' TikToks because originally Abby had no
- 6:35Speaker 1: idea what was going on. And she asked her followers
- 6:37Speaker 1: why she was being asked if she liked her quote
- 6:40Speaker 1: free necklace. When she realized what was happening, she said
- 6:44Speaker 1: she was shocked that people would accuse her of criminal activity.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 6:49Speaker 3: It's wild that people will assume that I stole a necklace.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I committed a crime because they see an outspoken woman.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Like we see women not adhering to societal standards, and
- 7:03Speaker 3: people then go, it must be Abby Chatfield that committed
- 7:06Speaker 3: a crime, that stole from a small business, when, if
- 7:11Speaker 3: you actually look at my politics, I'm all about supporting
- 7:15Speaker 3: small businesses.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I was surprised to see Abby's name being thrown into
- 7:20Speaker 1: the mix. This doesn't sound like anything she would be
- 7:22Speaker 1: involved in. Yeah, well, these false allegations have really capped
- 7:25Speaker 1: off a bad week for Abby Chatfield because last week
- 7:28Speaker 1: she was ordered to pay $ 79, 000 in damages to her
- 7:32Speaker 1: former best friend Heath Kelly after a court found she
- 7:35Speaker 1: had defamed him. And I think that's why Abby was
- 7:38Speaker 1: so emotional about being accused of stealing because she She
- 7:41Speaker 1: said that she's never committed a crime in her life. However,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I'm assuming she's been receiving a lot of messages about
- 7:47Speaker 1: the defamation case and people seem to not realise that
- 7:50Speaker 1: was a civil matter, not a criminal one. Let's take
- 7:52Speaker 1: a listen to what Abby said.
- 7:54Speaker 3: The accusations every single day about me make me genuinely
- 8:01Speaker 3: get to the verge of like a nervous breakdown. Like
- 8:05Speaker 3: I'm so sick of being accused of things I did
- 8:08Speaker 3: not do. Every day I see a lie about myself
- 8:12Speaker 3: on the internet. And now these people who don't like
- 8:15Speaker 3: me are now saying it must have been Abby Chatfield
- 8:18Speaker 3: that committed a crime.
- 8:19Speaker 4: When have I ever committed a crime?
- 8:23Speaker 1: When the news broke about Abby losing this defamation case,
- 8:26Speaker 1: the comment section on some of the news websites was
- 8:29Speaker 1: absolutely outrageous. I felt so sorry for her. You can
- 8:32Speaker 1: tell she's been really going through it. The absolute vitriol
- 8:34Speaker 1: thrown at her is very alarming. Now, Matt Hay was
- 8:38Speaker 1: next to enter the chat about the necklace. So he
- 8:41Speaker 1: talked the absolute piss out of the situation. He shared
- 8:45Speaker 1: this hilarious video where he said he was trying to
- 8:48Speaker 1: clear his name while he wore a dupe of the necklace.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Hello everyone, I'm here to clear my name after the
- 8:57Speaker 5: recent allegations by the TikTok search bar that said that
- 9:01Speaker 5: I was the influencer who stole from this small business.
- 9:04Speaker 5: This is the necklace that was allegedly sold. I have
- 9:08Speaker 5: never seen this necklace before. I actually have never seen
- 9:11Speaker 5: a necklace at all. I don't wear necklaces.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I love how he says the allegations on the search
- 9:17Speaker 1: bar of TikTok. That's classic. While most people got the joke, unfortunately,
- 9:22Speaker 1: there were some who missed it completely. And they were like,
- 9:25Speaker 1: but you're wearing a necklace. It's like, oh my God.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Which led him to post another satirical video where he
- 9:31Speaker 1: put on the dupe necklace with the caption, unfortunately, I
- 9:34Speaker 1: do love chargebacks. Now, off the back of these videos,
- 9:38Speaker 1: Amy Bradley ended up sharing a final TikTok update on
- 9:41Speaker 1: the matter. And after days of speculation, she finally cleared
- 9:44Speaker 1: the names of the influencers dragged into the drama. Now, Kate,
- 9:48Speaker 1: she was close to tears in this video and she
- 9:50Speaker 1: spoke about how mean people can be on TikTok and
- 9:53Speaker 1: that everyone wants to assume the worst in people. Let's
- 9:55Speaker 1: have a listen to what she said.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Abby Chatfield, Jessica.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Power.
- 10:01Speaker 2: All right, hey, Vanessa Romito. Everyone else, everybody has named? No,
- 10:07Speaker 2: definitely not. They haven't done it. I mean, Abby's received
- 10:11Speaker 2: so much hate.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Actually, what is wrong with people?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Like the fact that you think it's okay to tag
- 10:18Speaker 2: someone And say it's them.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We never asked of this.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It's just a brand owner giving an opinion on something
- 10:24Speaker 2: shitty and everyone has taken it so far.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I found this whole debacle really interesting to look at
- 10:32Speaker 1: from a PR perspective because there are so many brands
- 10:36Speaker 1: out there that want to go viral and get their
- 10:38Speaker 1: name out there. But this has been a very costly
- 10:42Speaker 1: move by Luna Rae. And as the internet does, it's
- 10:45Speaker 1: now turned on the brand and they've now been accused
- 10:47Speaker 1: of faking the story as a publicity stunt for their
- 10:50Speaker 1: sixth birthday sale, an allegation that the owners of Luna
- 10:53Speaker 1: Rae vehemently deny. The owner really didn't help herself though,
- 10:57Speaker 1: because during these TikTok updates, she said, oh, you know,
- 11:01Speaker 1: we've been accused that it's a publicity stunt. That is
- 11:03Speaker 1: not the case. We didn't think that this video would
- 11:05Speaker 1: go viral. And we didn't have time for it to
- 11:07Speaker 1: go viral because we've been getting ready for our sixth
- 11:10Speaker 1: birthday sale. Now, I'm not saying that it was a
- 11:12Speaker 1: publicity stunt, but the fact that this whole viral video
- 11:16Speaker 1: has aligned with the sale doesn't look good. No, I
- 11:20Speaker 1: think a lot of consumers now are really aware of
- 11:24Speaker 1: these PR stunts, particularly since TBH has been pulling them
- 11:28Speaker 1: off so perfectly and also with Boof Hair. And people
- 11:31Speaker 1: want to spot a rat. They're like, if something doesn't
- 11:33Speaker 1: add up about this, particularly when the brand seems to
- 11:36Speaker 1: be benefiting off the backlash of something. I mean, this
- 11:39Speaker 1: is a very different matter though, because the brand has
- 11:41Speaker 1: been labeled negligent for leaving the comments open and essentially
- 11:45Speaker 1: creating a witch hunt. Because while they didn't name the
- 11:48Speaker 1: alleged theft, they basically invited people to speculate who it
- 11:51Speaker 1: was in the comments. And they literally said this influencer
- 11:55Speaker 1: can be found on TikTok wearing this necklace and showed
- 11:58Speaker 1: a picture of the necklace. So it's literally like a
- 12:01Speaker 1: red flag to a bull. think Amy maybe felt like
- 12:04Speaker 1: she was in a position where it would benefit her
- 12:06Speaker 1: business to phrase the video in this way, because generally
- 12:09Speaker 1: people do side with the small business owner. They see
- 12:11Speaker 1: it as a bit of a David versus Goliath battle. Well,
- 12:14Speaker 1: that's originally what happened until this went absolutely viral. And
- 12:18Speaker 1: the approach that the brand uses, a very common engagement
- 12:20Speaker 1: farming technique used by a lot of content creators. Unfortunately though,
- 12:24Speaker 1: it appears that they didn't really think the strategy through
- 12:26Speaker 1: and they didn't have a PR crisis plan in place
- 12:29Speaker 1: if it was to go viral. And we're seeing the
- 12:32Speaker 1: repercussions of that, because unfortunately, innocent people were wrongly accused
- 12:36Speaker 1: of committing a crime. And the way TikTok works, there's
- 12:39Speaker 1: no context there and mud sticks and it has caused
- 12:41Speaker 1: reputational damage to a number of content creators. And this
- 12:45Speaker 1: brand has now opened themselves up to legal issues with defamation.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I would be very careful if I was a small
- 12:50Speaker 1: business owner in the future going forth with any of
- 12:52Speaker 1: these influencer driven stories, because it kind of reminds me
- 12:56Speaker 1: of back in February, 2024, When Shelby Sherritt, it was
- 13:01Speaker 1: dubbed as Muggate. So basically, Sofa Dofa posted about her
- 13:05Speaker 1: strawberry mug. It was this two-handed sippy cup. Well, she
- 13:07Speaker 1: slammed it for being ultra expensive. It was $ 125 for
- 13:10Speaker 1: a cup. And she said it wasn't actually marked properly.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And she only knew once she got to the register
- 13:14Speaker 1: how much it was. And she felt embarrassed to say anything.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And she also poked fun at the fact that it
- 13:18Speaker 1: had two handles, but it ended up being part of
- 13:20Speaker 1: this disability range. But anyway, Sofa Dofa came out swinging
- 13:23Speaker 1: and people started siding again with her. And it did
- 13:26Speaker 1: some damage to Shelby's brand. So you've got to really
- 13:30Speaker 1: be careful as a small business owner when you're going
- 13:32Speaker 1: to accuse people of certain things. Well, I almost think
- 13:36Speaker 1: if you're not going to name and shame, then there's
- 13:38Speaker 1: no point of coming out and doing the video because
- 13:40Speaker 1: they would have been in their right to name and
- 13:42Speaker 1: shame over the necklace because they had proof. They have
- 13:46Speaker 1: the truth defense in terms of defamation, but leaving it
- 13:49Speaker 1: open and giving identifiable details away, e.g. it's an Australian influencer,
- 13:54Speaker 1: they've been on reality TV, that opens it up to
- 13:57Speaker 1: a relatively small portion of the population that then can
- 14:00Speaker 1: be defamed. So there's quite a number of people that
- 14:03Speaker 1: could sue this brand over it. I wonder what it's
- 14:06Speaker 1: meant for sales though, because if you're online and you
- 14:09Speaker 1: want to support this business or you're like, oh wow,
- 14:11Speaker 1: that necklace is really nice. Oh, I'm going to check
- 14:13Speaker 1: out their other stuff. I wonder whether financially it's been
- 14:15Speaker 1: a good decision for them. Yes, maybe there's a lot
- 14:17Speaker 1: of influencers who no longer want to work with them now, but- Well,
- 14:20Speaker 1: there were a lot of comments, people saying that I
- 14:22Speaker 1: would never purchase from this brand. I didn't know about it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: And now I definitely won't purchase because I don't like
- 14:27Speaker 1: the tactics used. I mean, a lot of people have
- 14:29Speaker 1: been hurt over a $ 360 necklace. Like, I feel like
- 14:34Speaker 1: I can get easily fooled by being love-bombed. Unfortunately, in
- 14:39Speaker 1: the past, I've just like, yeah, of course. Tammy Hembrough
- 14:44Speaker 1: is back in the headlines following her first podcast appearance
- 14:47Speaker 1: since announcing her divorce from Matt Zukowski. The OG fitness
- 14:51Speaker 1: influencer appeared on the Mad About You podcast, hosted by
- 14:54Speaker 1: fellow influencers Jade Tunchi and Lockie Brickey. This time last week,
- 14:59Speaker 1: Tammy told her TikTok followers she was second guessing what
- 15:02Speaker 1: she divulged on air. Kate, do you think her concerns
- 15:04Speaker 1: were valid now after having a listen? I personally didn't
- 15:07Speaker 1: think the interview was that groundbreaking. I mean, there were
- 15:09Speaker 1: definitely a few interesting tidbits the mainstream media have run with.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I was kind of disappointed that she chose Jade and
- 15:16Speaker 1: Lockie's podcast to go on because it just felt a
- 15:19Speaker 1: little bit like an echo chamber where influencers were like, oh,
- 15:22Speaker 1: I feel so bad for you. And then they're like, yes,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I feel bad for you. And it's not really real
- 15:26Speaker 1: people problems. I feel like Lockie was trying to be
- 15:28Speaker 1: bad cop though. I feel like obviously Jade assumed the
- 15:31Speaker 1: position of good cop where she was feeling very sad
- 15:34Speaker 1: and sorry for Tammy, but Lockie was sort of asking
- 15:36Speaker 1: the questions that we all wanted asked. I appreciated Lockie
- 15:39Speaker 1: pushing the agenda. And I do think that that was
- 15:42Speaker 1: a strategic move from both of them when they were
- 15:44Speaker 1: interviewing Tammy. You got the feeling, though, that they had
- 15:46Speaker 1: been asked not to touch on specific things, but were
- 15:49Speaker 1: trying to work out a way around it. Yeah, it
- 15:51Speaker 1: felt like Lockie was pushing the boundaries as far as
- 15:53Speaker 1: he could possibly go. Now, in terms of the one
- 15:56Speaker 1: of the big stories that the mainstream media have picked
- 15:59Speaker 1: up on, It's to do with Bailey Smith, of course. Now,
- 16:02Speaker 1: I'm interested, Soph, to hear your thoughts on this story
- 16:05Speaker 1: that the media have picked up and run with off
- 16:07Speaker 1: the back of the interview. So Tammy spoke about how
- 16:10Speaker 1: she's never really dated, but recently went on a date
- 16:13Speaker 1: with a guy who was, quote, just so boring. And
- 16:16Speaker 1: the traditional media have now run with headlines that this
- 16:18Speaker 1: was a very thinly veiled swipe at Bailey Smith, who
- 16:21Speaker 1: Tammy recently dated. For context, this is what she said
- 16:25Speaker 1: on the podcast. I haven't been on many dates. Until recently, really.
- 16:31Speaker 1: So I never really dated.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Really?
- 16:34Speaker 1: You just like fell into relationships. I just like, yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: I sort of just like met someone and like, you know,
- 16:38Speaker 1: that was that. That must be nice. But I did
- 16:43Speaker 1: go on a date with a guy. Oh, no, he's probably, no,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you won't hear this. Because it's literally like the only
- 16:49Speaker 1: guy I went on a date with. Well, he was
- 16:52Speaker 1: just so boring. As in good banter online?
- 16:57Speaker 4: Like if you.
- 16:58Speaker 5: And then you met him personally.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You didn't have much to bring to the table. I'm
- 17:01Speaker 1: very much in, like if someone, if I speak to
- 17:04Speaker 1: someone online or meet them online, I want to like
- 17:06Speaker 1: meet them face to face. I'm like, I'm not really
- 17:09Speaker 1: like a texter or like anything like that. Like if
- 17:12Speaker 1: you're trying to talk to me, I'm like, we need
- 17:14Speaker 1: to like, I need to meet you face to face.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So we went on a date and it was just like,
- 17:20Speaker 1: I was just so bored. I never for one second
- 17:24Speaker 1: even considered that she was talking about Bailey Smith. I
- 17:27Speaker 1: just thought she was talking about a past date that
- 17:29Speaker 1: she's been on maybe with an older guy because Bailey Smith,
- 17:33Speaker 1: everything we see about him in the media, this guy
- 17:35Speaker 1: isn't boring. He's out there. Also because it said date
- 17:38Speaker 1: like singular, like she went on multiple dates with Bailey Smith.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I actually got the vibe that she and Bailey Smith
- 17:44Speaker 1: are still a thing because at the start of the interview,
- 17:46Speaker 1: Jade was like, you know, we want to set the
- 17:48Speaker 1: record straight. are you single? And she's like, she kind
- 17:51Speaker 1: of looked a bit flustered and was like, oh, you know,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I'm dating. Well, during the interview, Lockie also touched on
- 17:56Speaker 1: the recent publicity around Tammy's recent dating adventures. And they
- 18:00Speaker 1: were clearly referring to Bailey Smith. And she did make
- 18:03Speaker 1: it sound as though it was still something that was
- 18:05Speaker 1: continuing on in the background, maybe just something that wasn't
- 18:07Speaker 1: serious though.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I think that considering Tammy has now partnered with Tinder,
- 18:12Speaker 1: she's trying to put it out there that she's dating
- 18:14Speaker 1: multiple people and having a lot of fun because That's
- 18:16Speaker 1: the feature on the app talking about crushes and Tinder
- 18:20Speaker 1: being this fun place for casual dating. So she's got
- 18:23Speaker 1: to be careful with what she says from a branding
- 18:25Speaker 1: perspective as well. I found it interesting that Matt Zukowski's
- 18:28Speaker 1: name was never used or uttered during this interview. I mean,
- 18:32Speaker 1: they did say your divorce. It's funny though, because we
- 18:35Speaker 1: are going to be touching on a podcast interview that
- 18:37Speaker 1: Matt Zukowski also did recently. It's like they're just not
- 18:40Speaker 1: allowed to mention each other's names. But that's sort of
- 18:42Speaker 1: a typical thing people do with high profile breakups because
- 18:45Speaker 1: everyone knows who they're talking about anyway. And you don't
- 18:48Speaker 1: want to be that ex that always is mentioning that
- 18:51Speaker 1: person's name and dropping it. Yeah, I get it. It's
- 18:53Speaker 1: just kind of funny though, the way it's sort of like, oh,
- 18:56Speaker 1: he who must not be named. Well, as suspected, Tammy
- 18:59Speaker 1: did divulge a bit more about the reasons behind her
- 19:02Speaker 1: marriage breakdown and When asked if she was ever worried
- 19:05Speaker 1: people dated her for clout or access to her platform
- 19:08Speaker 1: of 20 million followers, she said this. I'm more asking,
- 19:13Speaker 1: are you ever fearful that perhaps someone is dating you
- 19:17Speaker 1: for clout or access to your platform? Because I'm sure
- 19:20Speaker 1: there's horrible people that would do that. I feel like
- 19:22Speaker 1: people have done that. How do you guard against that, though,
- 19:25Speaker 1: moving forward? How do you vet someone for that.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Sort of thing?
- 19:28Speaker 1: I feel like going forward, I'm just going to ask
- 19:31Speaker 1: like my sisters, my family. What are you talking about
- 19:34Speaker 1: this guy? Yeah, because I feel like they're usually pretty
- 19:36Speaker 1: spot on. So I'm just going to, you know. How
- 19:41Speaker 1: would they vet them? Yeah, like how do they know
- 19:44Speaker 1: or have they said things to you in the past
- 19:46Speaker 1: about people who turned out to be like that?
- 19:48Speaker 5: Yeah, they have.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Okay.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Like maybe they just see things that I don't when
- 19:52Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, got my hard eyes on. So
- 19:56Speaker 1: I feel like I just get a bit like loopy
- 19:58Speaker 1: and start fooling someone and then they see things that
- 20:02Speaker 1: I maybe don't see. It cracked me up because Jade
- 20:06Speaker 1: went on to say, oh, that would be really uncomfortable
- 20:08Speaker 1: for a sister to say. And Tammy was like, nah,
- 20:10Speaker 1: they're brutal. It just reminded me of our relationship.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I was like, oh no, this is exactly how sisters
- 20:14Speaker 1: would carry on. Jade does have a sister though. Maybe
- 20:16Speaker 1: they're a lot kinder to each other. There's some boundaries
- 20:19Speaker 1: up there. Well, yeah, as you touched on Soph, Tammy
- 20:22Speaker 1: didn't outright name Matt, but it seems fairly obvious that
- 20:24Speaker 1: she was talking about him because It was public knowledge
- 20:27Speaker 1: that her sisters had a problem with him. I mean,
- 20:29Speaker 1: he aired their grievances on his own podcast. And during
- 20:32Speaker 1: that same conversation with Lockie and Jade, Tammy also made
- 20:36Speaker 1: a dig about falling easily to love bombing. Yeah, it
- 20:39Speaker 1: was pretty clear who she was talking about. It also
- 20:42Speaker 1: seems like money was a big divider between not only
- 20:45Speaker 1: her and Matt, but her and her other past relationships
- 20:48Speaker 1: because she was asked if men were intimidated by her
- 20:52Speaker 1: success and And she said that it's actually been one
- 20:54Speaker 1: of the biggest issues in her past relationships. I was
- 20:57Speaker 1: fascinated when she spoke about this because it's something I've
- 20:59Speaker 1: never heard her speak about. Again, it's kind of like
- 21:02Speaker 1: how you said influencers and public figures don't want to
- 21:05Speaker 1: mention their exes by name. A lot of influencers also
- 21:08Speaker 1: don't want to talk about how much money they make.
- 21:11Speaker 1: It's a bit taboo to say, oh yeah, I'm actually
- 21:13Speaker 1: a multimillionaire. I mean, Tammy is worth $ 50 million. Well,
- 21:16Speaker 1: she did admit that it created this power imbalance. And
- 21:19Speaker 1: as a result, She would try and make herself smaller,
- 21:22Speaker 1: but it just didn't work. Lockie ended up asking Tammy
- 21:26Speaker 1: flat out if it was down to money and she
- 21:27Speaker 1: said this. Yeah, it's definitely a money thing. And like
- 21:33Speaker 1: people say like, oh, no, it doesn't matter. But then
- 21:35Speaker 1: it shows up in so many ways and so many things.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And yeah, it's definitely been a difficult thing to navigate
- 21:42Speaker 1: in all of my relationships.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Sure.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I mean, it would be incredibly difficult for all involved.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I mean, when you consider that Tammy is reportedly worth
- 21:51Speaker 1: $ 50 million while Matt Sikowsky works a nine to five
- 21:54Speaker 1: and was living with his mum when he first met her,
- 21:57Speaker 1: like that is a huge difference in your lifestyles. Matt
- 22:01Speaker 1: also admitted in a recent podcast, which we're going to
- 22:03Speaker 1: touch on in a second, that he wasn't actually working
- 22:06Speaker 1: when he was living with Tammy. I suppose that's because
- 22:09Speaker 1: the job that he does is for his dad's pool business,
- 22:11Speaker 1: which was based in Melbourne. So he essentially left that
- 22:14Speaker 1: job To shack up with Tammy. Well, you say not working,
- 22:17Speaker 1: but he had his podcast and influencing. So I suppose
- 22:19Speaker 1: he was doing that on the side. Well, he described
- 22:22Speaker 1: it as not working and he found that really difficult.
- 22:24Speaker 1: He found himself getting more depressed because he didn't have
- 22:26Speaker 1: much meaning in his life. I did love when they
- 22:29Speaker 1: asked Tammy if she pays on a first date. And
- 22:32Speaker 1: despite being a multimillionaire, she says definitely not. And that's
- 22:35Speaker 1: something that she really stands by. Yeah, I kind of
- 22:38Speaker 1: respect that. It looks like we might be seeing Tammy
- 22:41Speaker 1: on our TV screens soon because the Herald Sun's has
- 22:44Speaker 1: reported that Tammy's name was floating around the Channel 9
- 22:47Speaker 1: upfronts on Wednesday. I was thinking, oh, Channel 9, maybe
- 22:51Speaker 1: Love Island, like how epic that would be. And it
- 22:53Speaker 1: would be a bit of a fuck you to Matt
- 22:54Speaker 1: Sikowsky because he originally found fame on that show. She's
- 22:58Speaker 1: too big for Love Island. Yeah, she is. But it's not.
- 23:01Speaker 1: It is a weird celebrity show called Shark and the
- 23:05Speaker 1: show is filmed in the Bahamas and they basically get
- 23:08Speaker 1: a bunch of celebrities and make them do these tests
- 23:11Speaker 1: online with close encounters with sharks. Like it's just so random.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I remember when she was still with Matt and they
- 23:17Speaker 1: went to Port Lincoln to do cage diving with sharks.
- 23:20Speaker 1: She's already had some experience with it. Why can't they
- 23:23Speaker 1: just do the original idea of doing a reality show
- 23:25Speaker 1: about the Hembrough's life, similar to the Kardashians? Remember they
- 23:28Speaker 1: were filming a promo for it, but we never ended
- 23:31Speaker 1: up seeing it. Yeah, that was years ago, but recently
- 23:34Speaker 1: they reignited rumours that they could get their own reality
- 23:36Speaker 1: TV show up and running and during some interviews for
- 23:39Speaker 1: their supplement brand. Maybe they're testing the waters with Channel
- 23:43Speaker 1: 9 on this reality show and see how the public
- 23:46Speaker 1: like Tammy and then go for the full family. What
- 23:49Speaker 1: about her and The Bachelor? I mean, The Golden Bachelor
- 23:51Speaker 1: airs tonight. I think getting Tammy on as The Bachelorette
- 23:55Speaker 1: would be the way to reignite that program again. That
- 23:58Speaker 1: would be so good. It's interesting, though, because it was
- 24:00Speaker 1: only a couple of weeks ago that Tammy was talking
- 24:02Speaker 1: about doing her diver medical ahead of enrolling in a
- 24:04Speaker 1: scuba diving course. So that all makes sense, doesn't it?
- 24:07Speaker 1: She also hinted at her reality TV debut on a
- 24:10Speaker 1: TikTok last week. So during a Get Ready With Me
- 24:13Speaker 1: video before White Fox Boutique's birthday party, she told her
- 24:16Speaker 1: followers she had something coming up that was wildly out
- 24:19Speaker 1: of her comfort zone and she said it was going
- 24:21Speaker 1: to be really fun and she was all about adding
- 24:23Speaker 1: to her life experiences. So it seems like it's definitely happening.
- 24:26Speaker 4: You guys are probably thinking, how can this guy be
- 24:30Speaker 4: so good looking and funny? Well, you're about to find out.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Matt Sikowsky made a hilarious blunder whilst appearing on the
- 24:39Speaker 1: On It Off It podcast. Now, this show is hosted
- 24:42Speaker 1: by fitness influencer Louis Phillips and stand-up comedian Fergus Neal.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And the boys were chatting to Matt about his Love
- 24:49Speaker 1: Island days. And he said that he thinks some of
- 24:52Speaker 1: the viewers took him the wrong way because he has
- 24:54Speaker 1: a very dry sense of humor. And he actually revealed
- 24:57Speaker 1: that he'd love to get into stand-up comedy. Now, Matt
- 25:01Speaker 1: then attempted to deliver a joke that he planned to
- 25:03Speaker 1: kick off his future shows with, but it was this
- 25:07Speaker 1: unintentional slip up that garnered more laughs. Let's have a listen.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I heard that at start you need to defecate yourself
- 25:15Speaker 4: to connect with the audience. So I'm thinking my opening line.
- 25:18Speaker 1: You don't mean defecate yourself. Defecate I think shit yourself.
- 25:23Speaker 1: That would be hilarious.
- 25:26Speaker 5: That's the rule of stand-up comedy.
- 25:28Speaker 2: You've got to start by shitting yourself.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Everyone looked at me so confused when I said that.
- 25:33Speaker 4: I was like, no, dude, I've been told that by
- 25:34Speaker 4: a comedian.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I know that's real. I bet you've got to defecate yourself.
- 25:37Speaker 4: What's the word then? Defamation. No.
- 25:39Speaker 5: No, what's the word?
- 25:42Speaker 1: The listener's screaming us the word.
- 25:44Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 25:45Speaker 1: You put yourself down. Yes, you put yourself down.
- 25:47Speaker 4: So I was going to have an opening line of like,
- 25:49Speaker 4: you guys are probably thinking, how can this guy be
- 25:52Speaker 4: so good looking and funny? Or you're about to find out.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Something like that.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 25:57Speaker 4: I'm just feeling it.
- 25:57Speaker 1: And then shit yourself. Yeah, shit myself. Wait, Blake, what's
- 26:00Speaker 1: the word? Yes, deprecate.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Thank you, Blake.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Thank you, Larry.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Never confuse those again.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Oh, Matt.
- 26:08Speaker 1: He just has golden retriever energy, doesn't he? He comes
- 26:10Speaker 1: across as a bit of a himbo, but there's something
- 26:13Speaker 1: endearing about it. Yeah, I thought that this was part
- 26:16Speaker 1: of the bit he was doing, but then I quickly
- 26:19Speaker 1: realised that he genuinely thought that he was using the
- 26:22Speaker 1: right word. It was so funny because the other guys
- 26:24Speaker 1: were just piercing themselves laughing and I think that they
- 26:26Speaker 1: thought that it was part of the joke as well.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And then they were like, oh no, he's serious here.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I mean, I could tell this was genuine because I
- 26:33Speaker 1: listen to his podcast regularly and there are quite a
- 26:36Speaker 1: number of times where he and Anna will confuse a
- 26:39Speaker 1: word or a saying. I remember he said, oh, Bob's
- 26:41Speaker 1: your auntie. I was like, it's Bob's uncle. Were you
- 26:44Speaker 1: one of the listeners who was literally sitting there screaming,
- 26:47Speaker 1: it's self-deprecate? Because they were like, all of them couldn't
- 26:50Speaker 1: get the word. They're like, what is that word? I
- 26:53Speaker 1: actually think though that Matt could be a really great
- 26:55Speaker 1: comedian without even trying. But I just like laugh when
- 26:58Speaker 1: I hear him speak. As you said, he does have
- 26:59Speaker 1: that golden retriever energy. I wonder if Matt ends up
- 27:02Speaker 1: going down the stand-up comedy route, if he'll use his
- 27:05Speaker 1: wrestling alias Charlie Matthews as a bit of a character,
- 27:08Speaker 1: because they did speak in this interview about his wrestling days.
- 27:12Speaker 1: And for those who don't remember, he plays the role
- 27:15Speaker 1: of the man who won the genetic lottery. So I
- 27:17Speaker 1: feel like even with him saying that his initial joke
- 27:20Speaker 1: would be him joking about how good looking he is,
- 27:22Speaker 1: I feel like he's kind of playing that sort of character,
- 27:24Speaker 1: playing into that alter ego. See, I think instead of
- 27:28Speaker 1: going down the comedy route, he could get a job on, say,
- 27:31Speaker 1: Home and Away, like playing into these characters. Like you
- 27:34Speaker 1: don't have to be very good at acting to be
- 27:35Speaker 1: on that show. No shade at the actors that are
- 27:37Speaker 1: on it. But, you know, when they get a role. Oh,
- 27:39Speaker 1: my God, Robbie was on Neighbours. Oh, there's some great
- 27:41Speaker 1: people on there. But often when there's a reality star
- 27:44Speaker 1: or someone with a public profile that gets a role
- 27:47Speaker 1: on that show, they're not that great. Some people just
- 27:49Speaker 1: have to be hot, don't they? Now, it's quite interesting
- 27:51Speaker 1: because the podcast hosts and Matt are actually under the
- 27:55Speaker 1: same management. And I think that that's how he ended
- 27:57Speaker 1: up appearing on this show. And you could tell that
- 28:00Speaker 1: the boys had been instructed not to directly ask about Tammy. Instead,
- 28:04Speaker 1: they seemed to really tiptoe around it. And they posed
- 28:07Speaker 1: a lot of questions about how Matt is enjoying life
- 28:10Speaker 1: now and how he's managed to pull himself out of
- 28:12Speaker 1: this dark place. And Matt was very keen to reiterate
- 28:16Speaker 1: just how good life is now that he's no longer
- 28:19Speaker 1: with Tammy. Let's have a listen to what he said.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Life's so good and I'm realizing that every day. It's
- 28:26Speaker 4: so fucking good and just like living it. I'm loving
- 28:28Speaker 4: it so much.
- 28:30Speaker 1: What are the parts of it that make it good?
- 28:31Speaker 4: Everything. Honestly, waking up. And I know this sounds so cliche,
- 28:35Speaker 4: but like seriously, like I'm so happy with life at
- 28:38Speaker 4: the moment. Come from where I was and how down
- 28:41Speaker 4: and in the dumps and hating life I was, I'm
- 28:44Speaker 4: just so grateful for it now, man, and I'm excited.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I'm really excited for what's coming. I was in fight
- 28:49Speaker 4: or flight literally every single day and I wake up
- 28:52Speaker 4: now and I'm just at peace and I'm fucking loving it, man.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Like I'm loving it so much. Like I get to
- 28:58Speaker 4: make decisions myself. I actually worry about Matt Sikowsky now,
- 29:02Speaker 4: like about him and what he's doing with his day
- 29:05Speaker 4: and how I make myself happy and how I not
- 29:09Speaker 4: people around me sort of thing. Do you know what
- 29:10Speaker 4: I mean?
- 29:12Speaker 1: I love the way he referred to himself in third person.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I've got to worry about what Matt Sikowsky wants. You know,
- 29:19Speaker 1: when someone oversells something, like I genuinely hope he is
- 29:21Speaker 1: feeling as happy as he explained, but it was almost
- 29:25Speaker 1: a bit too much that you're trying to prove something.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I actually think he is genuinely feeling that way and
- 29:32Speaker 1: that there's a big weight that's been lifted off his shoulders.
- 29:35Speaker 1: He also spoke about when he was at his lowest
- 29:37Speaker 1: point and he said he wasn't training hard at the gym.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He was letting himself go by eating shit and he
- 29:43Speaker 1: wasn't working as we touched on earlier, which made him
- 29:45Speaker 1: feel like he wasn't achieving much. And he said that
- 29:48Speaker 1: now he's back in a good place. He's journaling, he's
- 29:51Speaker 1: hitting the gym. He also joked that people would pay
- 29:53Speaker 1: big money for his journals. And his friends actually warned
- 29:56Speaker 1: him not to leave it in his car because they
- 29:59Speaker 1: thought maybe someone would break into it and steal it
- 30:02Speaker 1: and potentially sell it to the tabloids for a lot
- 30:04Speaker 1: of money. So I would have a read of this journal.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I mean, we've spoken on the podcast about how Matt
- 30:08Speaker 1: has tried to get back into reading and it was
- 30:10Speaker 1: quite sweet. He's been reading Goosebump novels. I wonder if
- 30:14Speaker 1: he'd ever work with a ghostwriter to put his story
- 30:17Speaker 1: out there. Are we thinking that potentially once all the
- 30:21Speaker 1: papers are signed and the divorce is settled, that more
- 30:24Speaker 1: might come out? Like, would he release a book? Because
- 30:28Speaker 1: the fact that he is journaling makes me think that
- 30:30Speaker 1: there's something he wants to do with it in the end.
- 30:32Speaker 1: And he's trying to document what's happened. I mean, I
- 30:35Speaker 1: think he is journaling for his own mental health, but
- 30:38Speaker 1: I mean, I would love to read a tell-all or
- 30:40Speaker 1: at least listen to an audio book of a tell-all
- 30:43Speaker 1: by him. It would be very fascinating. Matt also admitted
- 30:46Speaker 1: during this interview that in recent months, he's been receiving
- 30:50Speaker 1: a lot of apologies. Let's have a listen. I, I, um,
- 30:54Speaker 1: I've had a.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Lot of apologies in the last couple of months. Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Lots of apologies.
- 30:59Speaker 4: People messaging me saying, sorry that like I said this
- 31:02Speaker 4: and commented this. I got a lot of that. Um,
- 31:04Speaker 4: but I, what you're saying about your friends and family
- 31:08Speaker 4: going through tough times, knowing that they knew truth and
- 31:12Speaker 4: they knew stuff really got me through it as well.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Cause at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
- 31:15Speaker 4: That's all you need. That's all you need. Like if
- 31:17Speaker 4: your people know the truth and like that you care
- 31:19Speaker 4: about and that's what matters.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So these are random people on the internet that are
- 31:23Speaker 1: messaging him saying, sorry, I got the completely wrong impression
- 31:27Speaker 1: of you. Well, yeah. And I think that since there's
- 31:29Speaker 1: been a bit more bad publicity out about Tammy, they're
- 31:31Speaker 1: also saying, oh, I can see where you're coming from.
- 31:34Speaker 1: It is interesting that he also referenced that his friends
- 31:37Speaker 1: and family know the truth about what happened because he's
- 31:40Speaker 1: kind of putting out there. that there's a lot more
- 31:42Speaker 1: that has gone on behind the scenes and people shouldn't
- 31:45Speaker 1: be following maybe the line that Tammy seems to be
- 31:47Speaker 1: towing at the moment. I mean, it makes sense because
- 31:49Speaker 1: at the moment, they're both pushing these agendas that they're
- 31:52Speaker 1: the victims in the situation and it's the other person
- 31:54Speaker 1: that caused all of the problems. He was really trying
- 31:57Speaker 1: to act like he's been the bigger person because he
- 31:59Speaker 1: told this story about how when two people are going
- 32:03Speaker 1: at it, the only people who win are the media
- 32:06Speaker 1: and people consuming the content. And he said that he
- 32:08Speaker 1: had the mentality from the start and presumably told Tammy this,
- 32:12Speaker 1: that they shouldn't throw shit at each other because no
- 32:14Speaker 1: one is going to win out of it. I mean, yes,
- 32:16Speaker 1: that is definitely true. We also need to remember that
- 32:19Speaker 1: they're still going through all of the legalities involved in
- 32:22Speaker 1: a divorce. And I suppose no one really wants to
- 32:25Speaker 1: go slam the other one publicly and ruin their chances
- 32:29Speaker 1: of ending this marriage amicably. Hmm. Well, last week we
- 32:33Speaker 1: reported that Matt was spotted with a new girl and
- 32:35Speaker 1: it was a normie Adelaide girl by the name of
- 32:38Speaker 1: Emily Lawson. I just feel offended for anyone called a normie. Well,
- 32:41Speaker 1: I'm saying she's not famous, is she? I mean, she
- 32:43Speaker 1: has maybe like 6,000 followers on Instagram. Again, I'm sort
- 32:46Speaker 1: of uncomfortable with the term famous, but you mean she's
- 32:48Speaker 1: not a public figure? She's not a public figure, no.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And yeah, and he appeared to travel to Adelaide to
- 32:53Speaker 1: go on a date with her. However, during this podcast interview,
- 32:57Speaker 1: he said he wasn't looking for anything serious anytime soon.
- 33:01Speaker 1: He admitted though that he has been chatting to girls.
- 33:04Speaker 1: He said that the dating world seems new now and
- 33:06Speaker 1: he had no idea that people sent voice notes all
- 33:09Speaker 1: of the time. I think what he's more finding is
- 33:11Speaker 1: that that's what happens when you date younger Gen Z girls.
- 33:14Speaker 1: That sounds like a fucking nightmare. I mean, it was
- 33:16Speaker 1: bad enough back in the day when you had to
- 33:18Speaker 1: construct a text message back. At least you could get
- 33:20Speaker 1: everyone to help you. But imagine having to, you know,
- 33:23Speaker 1: plan this voice message and you having to think about
- 33:26Speaker 1: the tone of your voice, how long it is, what
- 33:28Speaker 1: you say, re-recording it. It kind of reminds me on Seinfeld.
- 33:31Speaker 1: when George Costanza would gear himself up to leave the
- 33:35Speaker 1: voice message on the answering machine. Do you reckon people
- 33:38Speaker 1: are writing full-blown scripts to read off and try and
- 33:41Speaker 1: sound a bit casual? I find that a lot of
- 33:43Speaker 1: my younger friends will send voice messages and I always
- 33:47Speaker 1: respond just with a written message. Isn't it weird to
- 33:50Speaker 1: think that Gen Zers are so against talking on the phone,
- 33:53Speaker 1: but they then want to have this like pre-recorded conversation.
- 33:57Speaker 1: It's like, okay, I'm going to say my bit. And
- 34:00Speaker 1: then send it off and then you say you'll be like,
- 34:01Speaker 1: wouldn't it just be easy to pick up the phone
- 34:03Speaker 1: and have a chat if that's what you're doing? Yeah,
- 34:05Speaker 1: but then you can listen to it at a time
- 34:06Speaker 1: that suits you. I actually love listening to them from friends.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I feel like it's a really great way to bring
- 34:12Speaker 1: a conversation or a situation to life. I just don't
- 34:15Speaker 1: feel like I'm good at them. which people might find
- 34:17Speaker 1: ironic considering we do sit on a podcast and record ourselves.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I just find it self-indulgent because it's like, I've then
- 34:23Speaker 1: got to go through and almost take notes on what
- 34:26Speaker 1: you've said to remember to respond to those bits. It
- 34:29Speaker 1: does get tough, but I suppose it's easier than riding
- 34:32Speaker 1: a full slab. I think people do it for the ease. Anyway,
- 34:35Speaker 1: that aside, the podcast host also ended up asking Matt
- 34:38Speaker 1: if he was nervous about going on dates and now
- 34:41Speaker 1: that he's well-known and that some women might be after
- 34:44Speaker 1: him for clout, which is quite funny, off the back
- 34:47Speaker 1: of what Tammy said. And Matt said he realised that
- 34:50Speaker 1: he's never going to change anyone's perception of him and
- 34:53Speaker 1: he also thinks he'd be able to pick up on
- 34:56Speaker 1: whether someone was dating him for the wrong reasons, which
- 34:59Speaker 1: is quite interesting when you consider the fact that Emily Lawson,
- 35:02Speaker 1: the Adelaide girl, straightaway shared a selfie with him. Mm-hmm. Well,
- 35:05Speaker 1: we don't know at what stage of their relationship they're at.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Surely she would have had to ask his permission to
- 35:11Speaker 1: do that. But I do think he's found himself in
- 35:14Speaker 1: a situation where, you know, people are now more interested
- 35:17Speaker 1: in who he's dating off the back of dating Tammy.
- 35:20Speaker 1: And there will be people using him. And it's sort
- 35:22Speaker 1: of funny that he's been accused of doing that himself.
- 35:26Speaker 1: So maybe he does know the signs to look out for,
- 35:29Speaker 1: might echo his own behavior. Yeah, well, I think that
- 35:31Speaker 1: is all we have time for today. Thank you so
