- 0:04Let's talk Reddit hygiene. I started using hand cream at 34
- 0:09and I genuinely feel like I've been lied to my whole life.
- 0:13You have, you have. Oh my God.
- 0:16Body cream, face cream, hand cream, feet cream, all of it.
- 0:19You need it. All of it, he said.
- 0:22OK, so this is a little embarrassing to admit, but I've
- 0:25never used hand lotion. Not once.
- 0:27I think I vaguely associated with something that wasn't
- 0:30really for guys, which looking back is a pretty stupid reason
- 0:33to walk around with hands that feel like sandpaper for three
- 0:36decades. A few months ago I was at a
- 0:40mate's place and mentioned my hands are really dry and
- 0:43cracked, especially around the knuckles.
- 0:45He just handed me his hand cream without making a big deal of it.
- 0:48I put a tiny bit on, mostly to be polite. 20 minutes later I
- 0:52looked down in my hands and generally did not recognize.
- 0:55They would look. Like normal human hands and not
- 0:59something that have been left out in the sun for a year.
- 1:03I went and bought my own the same evening.
- 1:06Nothing fancy, just the basic vacant free one from the drug
- 1:10store. I've been using it every night
- 1:11before bed and after washing my hands and I keep having this low
- 1:15grade background feeling that someone should have told me
- 1:18about this when I was 16. Did nobody tell you no lotion?
- 1:22You need lotion what I'm saying. The thing is, nobody in my
- 1:26family used it. It was never framed as something
- 1:29men do, and I think internalizing some vague idea
- 1:32that caring about your skin was high maintenance or something.
- 1:35It cost $4.00 and takes 30 seconds.
- 1:38Right. I work with my hands a lot and
- 1:40the difference in how they feel and look is genuinely
- 1:42embarrassing to think about the terms of years lost.
- 1:45Man, if you're also a guy who has been ignoring your hands for
- 1:48decades, just try it. I feel slightly ridiculous
- 1:51writing this out but also I I want every man to know and hear
- 1:54it. You know, it's not just your
- 1:56hands, it's your feet as well. It's every day.
- 2:00You know, it's your elbows, it's your shoulders, it's your knees,
- 2:03your neck. Like lay face, moisturize
- 2:07yourself. It is an organ.
- 2:09Thank you. You have to take care of that
- 2:11organ, especially if you're like super manly, you got to work in
- 2:14the construction or. Whatever you do, I don't care.
- 2:17Just moisturize yourself. I don't understand how that felt
- 2:23because if I wash my hands, if I'm out and about, because my
- 2:25hand soap here at home is very moisturizing.
- 2:28But when I'm out and about and they've got that nasty
- 2:30antibacterial stuff and it dries my hands out within minutes and
- 2:34I'm like, where is my hand cream?
- 2:36Thank you. I need it.
- 2:37Thank you. I cannot imagine going years
- 2:39without it. But I guess if that's what
- 2:40you're used to, you're like, I'm used to feeling like sandpaper,
- 2:44sandpaper. How does that?
- 2:46Feel you get cracks all the time.
- 2:48I don't even want to know. Look, dudes being moisturized is
- 2:52sexy, OK? If I see so a man walking by and
- 2:55his skin is glistening, I'm like, look at you.
- 2:58I like my Donuts. Glazed, this is my daughter.
- 3:05OK, reset caught me off guard with that one.
- 3:12And that's why I don't use that. Right, exactly.
- 3:17I won't objectify you, but all I'm saying is that moisture is
- 3:20cute. Moisture is very cute.
- 3:23But good for him for being like, I didn't know.
- 3:26In case there's other dudes out there that don't know.
- 3:28Yeah, moisturize. He needed to share it, so hear
- 3:31it, please. Oh my God, I know.
- 3:34I love that. Am I the asshole for telling
- 3:37everyone how I really feel about my bully?
- 3:41Oh no. I decided to take a breath.
- 3:46This one is wild. I'm nervous.
- 3:48OK, there's this girl who's always rude to me.
- 3:51Let's call her Libby. She would make snide remarks
- 3:54about how weird I was and how I walked weird.
- 3:57Whenever I talked about my special interests, such as
- 3:59animals, ancient Rome, etcetera, she would literally scream at me
- 4:03to shut up. Excuse me?
- 4:05Yeah. A couple days ago, Libby passed
- 4:08away in a car accident. OK, Yeah.
- 4:15All right. Continuing.
- 4:17It was announced over the school announcement system as well as
- 4:20via e-mail. At school, her passing was all
- 4:22anybody would talk about. Everyone was pretending to mourn
- 4:26her and lying about what a wonderful person she was.
- 4:30That's bad. Seeing everyone pretending Libby
- 4:33was a St. made me sick so I honestly blurted out to my
- 4:37friends in class. I don't care if that Libby is
- 4:40gone. As a matter of fact, I'm glad
- 4:42she's gone. She was always rude to me when
- 4:45she was alive. I don't know why everyone is
- 4:47pretending she is a St. now. My goodness, I mean, you're
- 4:52right, but like. The way you sit like she stood
- 4:56on business, 10 toes down, she said.
- 5:00F Libby. Literally, she said.
- 5:02I am glad. And she said you're a liar.
- 5:07I mean, I get there lying. Is she not a St.
- 5:10Oh? My goodness, recipes, Libby, you
- 5:14know Everyone stared at me as if I were a monster.
- 5:18I suddenly became the most hated person in class.
- 5:21Even my friends who never really liked Libby called me heartless.
- 5:24They said if I don't have anything nice to say, I
- 5:27shouldn't have said anything at all, and what I said was hurtful
- 5:30to people who actually liked Libby in life.
- 5:32I pointed out that I was just being honest about how I feel
- 5:35about her. Another one of my friends called
- 5:37me an asshole that was just looking for attention and that
- 5:40even if I didn't like Libby, I should have had the common
- 5:42courtesy to be polite or stay silent for the sake of her
- 5:45living friends. I pointed out that I was just
- 5:48being honest about how I feel and passing away doesn't absolve
- 5:52anybody of anything. My friends then refused to speak
- 5:55to me for the rest of the day. Am I the asshole?
- 5:59I don't have a definitive answer for this one.
- 6:01I I actually don't because at the same time I get why she said
- 6:05it. She was being bullied by her,
- 6:08tortured by her when she was alive and everyone's acting like
- 6:12that just doesn't matter when she died.
- 6:15At the same time, if she had people that loved her.
- 6:20She those people don't want to hear how she was a bad person
- 6:22when she was here. Yes, that is really brutal.
- 6:27It's it's my answer is yes, the asshole because of how she chose
- 6:32to voice her opinion. Yeah, It wasn't about Libby, but
- 6:37also Libby was an asshole as well.
- 6:40And it's like, OK, you never want to speak I'll of the dead,
- 6:42but then you have this point of living your life in such a way
- 6:46that nobody's speaking about you like that when you pass away.
- 6:50Yeah, and Libby clearly didn't think about that.
- 6:53Not with the with the poster, yeah.
- 6:56And so that's tough, that is. So tough I don't have a decent
- 7:00answer for this because maybe she could have said it, but not
- 7:02in the way that she did, right? I mean, she could.
- 7:05Have journaled it. You know, if you needed to get
- 7:08that off your chest, there are ways.
- 7:09But she said announcements. Everyone listen up.
- 7:13Libby wasn't a St. right? And why are you lying?
- 7:17I hope she wasn't religious or anything.
- 7:20Oh. Gosh, I I don't have a
- 7:22definitive for that. I think that's a 5050 like how
- 7:25you said, it definitely makes you one right?
- 7:28But saying it? It wasn't the right thing to say
- 7:32and the right time to say, but there's this thing on Reddit
- 7:35where poo mode is activated when basically everybody's an
- 7:38asshole, and I feel like poo mode might have been activated
- 7:42on this one. Whoa, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:45That one's not a definitive. That's not black and white.
- 7:48Yeah, please let me know what you think, because, my goodness,
- 7:51because I get it. She was my bully, yes.
- 7:55I'm not sad, but there's other people who were sad, and she
- 8:00shouldn't have gone out of her way to be like, shut up.
- 8:03Yeah, you're feeling so mad. Or because she bullied me.
- 8:06Boom. I'm glad she's gone.
- 8:07Like, whoa. Yikes.
- 8:12A certain president would have said the same thing.
- 8:14So, you know, Yeah. It's just how you choose to.
- 8:19The pool rolls down the hill, as they say.
- 8:23I like that. So.
- 8:26There's a news article from back in 2016.
- 8:29A woman got her 20 boyfriends to buy her iPhones and then she
- 8:33sells those iPhones to put a down payment on a house.
- 8:37So not only am I not mad, I'm not mad.
- 8:40Who is this queen, literally? I'm also like respect because
- 8:46she made this hustle happen because it was 2016.
- 8:49The iPhone 7 just came out, the one with the still with the
- 8:52button. Do you guys remember buttons?
- 8:53I don't do buttons anymore. I'm better than that.
- 8:56But it came out two months prior.
- 8:59So she got 20 boyfriends to buy her, what, 20 iPhones each in
- 9:04which she sold for a mortgage in less than two months?
- 9:0717 K total to get her down payment.
- 9:10I mess with her $17,815.00 to put a down payment on house.
- 9:14I respect her. I'm not mad at her because the
- 9:17way I look at it, these men gave up their money of their free
- 9:20will. You know it's not illegal.
- 9:22No, I it's not illegal. She didn't steal their iPhones.
- 9:25They willingly gave over the money.
- 9:27Yes, this is not illegal and. That's what I'm saying.
- 9:33They were her boyfriend. They were her boyfriends.
- 9:35And so they were like, she was playing the field.
- 9:38She had 20 boyfriends and she just so happened to ask each one
- 9:41for an iPhone. They were like, well, sugar
- 9:45daddy you and just give you 20 iPhones, the brand new iPhones.
- 9:49And she said bet, wait a minute is.
- 9:51That my escort business. No, what I'm saying is this is
- 9:55OK what he said. If you couldn't hear him, he
- 9:57said is this not an escort business?
- 9:58I do not think that is because if it was one boyfriend and she
- 10:03said can I have an iPhone and he gave her an iPhone, this is
- 10:07fine. It was a gift, you know, I never
- 10:09told you what I was going to do with the iPhones.
- 10:11It's none of their business. It's none of their business.
- 10:13I asked for an iPhone. Matter of fact, I asked for 20.
- 10:16You gave me 20. Great.
- 10:19I didn't tell you that I was going to sell it to buy a house.
- 10:23That's none of your business. And now I have a house.
- 10:26And now I have a house. I don't.
- 10:28You were happy to give me a phone and now I have a house.
- 10:31Is everybody not happy? No issues here.
- 10:34I see no issues. I think she's a cool queen.
- 10:37Yes. Love it.
- 10:38Love it, you know. Oh God.
- 10:40And to juggle 20 dudes. Respect.
- 10:44Good for her respect. She made that happen, so I'm not
- 10:46mad at it. Exactly you do.
- 10:48You girl gave me some ideas. No anyway.
- 10:52Oh my goodness, she all won today.
- 10:54Y'all all right? Our favorite.
- 11:02Well, I'm not going to speak for you.
- 11:04One of my favorite things to talk about is my strange
- 11:06addiction. OK, if y'all didn't watch this
- 11:10week, don't worry, we're going to tell you everything every
- 11:12single day. OK, so if you don't mind going
- 11:14to my screen, this is Abigail. She's 25.
- 11:18She's got chopsticks. What's she eating?
- 11:20You my ass. Cat food.
- 11:23Oh my goodness. Not the dry one.
- 11:27It's the Pate chunk with gravy. Cat food.
- 11:31She has been doing it since she was five years old. 20 years of
- 11:36eating cat food now I love me some carne asada fries, right?
- 11:42I don't talk about carne asada fries the way she talks about
- 11:45cat food. Oh, she's in love.
- 11:47Like it's the best thing in her life.
- 11:49She takes that long nail of hers and put it all in the can.
- 11:53And she was just oh, no, I haven't tasted this one.
- 11:57It's it's it's creamy. It's extremely Pate.
- 11:59I was like, girl, you know, shut up.
- 12:01Like it's some gourmet. So disgusting.
- 12:05So disgusting. I'm sorry.
- 12:07She loves the pop of the can. Yeah.
- 12:10Oh, she was like, can you hear that?
- 12:12This is a good one. Like it's a bottle of wine.
- 12:14I'm sorry, but she it might as. Well be it, might as well be it
- 12:19really how she got into it was when she was feeding other cats
- 12:22and she saw how excited the cats were to eat and she said I need
- 12:25to get in on that. This is this is cat food girl.
- 12:28Of course, what else do they get?
- 12:30Because I know our animals, they be like the same thing every
- 12:34single day and they're super happy to eat it.
- 12:36Not once have I ever been like, you know what?
- 12:39I think I'm going to try that. I think the closest I would get
- 12:43is to the farmer's dog and it's because that's.
- 12:46Real food, like it's human food that they put into a little bag.
- 12:51This is cat food. This is made for cats.
- 12:53The chemicals and preservatives and all of that inside of a can.
- 12:57And she said, I mess with that. She was so excited.
- 12:59Her sister and she sat down at dinner.
- 13:02Everybody else is sitting there eating whatever they're eating.
- 13:04And she was like, oh, this looks good.
- 13:06Pushes it to the side and pulls a can of cat food out and starts
- 13:09eating it in front of her family with chopsticks with.
- 13:12Yeah, it doesn't. Smells horrendous.
- 13:17Yeah, She went out to get coffee with her sister and she pulled
- 13:21one out of her purse and her sister was like, oh, my God, the
- 13:24smell. It just hit her in the nose.
- 13:26But she is so obsessed with it and she thinks it's so normal
- 13:29that she's always trying to convince people to eat it.
- 13:31She's just like the beef and gravy.
- 13:33She's like, it tastes like Salisbury steak.
- 13:35Then just. Eat.
- 13:36The steak, That's what her doctor said.
- 13:38How about you eat Salisbury steak?
- 13:40It's there. Why are you trying to get like
- 13:43something to compare it to? It is there.
- 13:45It is for you. This is for.
- 13:48So she goes to the doctor under under duress.
- 13:51Yeah, right. And the doctor is like, look,
- 13:53all your levels are are pretty decent.
- 13:55Your cholesterol is high because this has high fat and high
- 14:00protein because that's what these animals need.
- 14:02They eat 100% protein diet all meat 100% and she was like oh
- 14:07really? Because 60% of her diet is cat
- 14:10food, she said. Because when the doctor asked
- 14:13her to. What's your dialect?
- 14:16She said, oh, you know, like tacos and hamburgers.
- 14:20And I was like, girl, get to the cat, get to the point.
- 14:22And she said, And then, you know, I ate some cat food and
- 14:24doctor was like. Yeah, yeah, yeah, his face.
- 14:27It's like y'all don't prep these doctors where they want, yo,
- 14:29they have no idea. There's just.
- 14:31Cameras there and they're like, sorry.
- 14:33Say that again. Yeah.
- 14:35She was obsessed. He asked if she would cut down
- 14:39because if it's an addiction, she's been doing it for 20
- 14:42years. There's clearly, like, emotions
- 14:44attached to this since 5. She said, OK, if I'm going to,
- 14:47if this is 60, I'll go down to 50.
- 14:49So 50% of my diet will be cat food.
- 14:51And he was like the doctor said, that's pure addict behavior,
- 14:55pure addicts, barely even willing to.
- 14:58But she didn't do that though, did she?
- 15:00She continued as normal after the show.
- 15:02She's perfectly fine. So this one, I think of all
- 15:05three of the addicts of this week's episode, she was the
- 15:09least crazy one maybe. What do you think?
- 15:13Yeah. No, I can say that for sure.
- 15:14Yeah. Yeah, because the next one, this
- 15:17is this is Tiara. She's 30.
- 15:21And that white substance you see is not coke.
- 15:25Kind of wish it was. That is cleaning powder like
- 15:30Ajax like like. Get dirt and grime from the
- 15:33bottom of. Your bathtub with floor type of
- 15:37cleaning product. It's so harmful.
- 15:41And as soon as she got on the screen, I was like, her eyes are
- 15:43red as hell red. They were so red.
- 15:46And she has a rash underneath her nose because she snorts it
- 15:50all day every day. She keeps a little spoon with
- 15:53her. I mean, I spoon a straw and a
- 15:55little cup with a lid on it and she'd be just booger sugar.
- 16:00Seriously. Wait, we're kind of in shock for
- 16:05this one because she was talking about it like it was an actual
- 16:08drug. I mean, I kind of wish it was
- 16:10because we know how to treat. That you know.
- 16:14We got stuff for that. I don't know what to do to help
- 16:17you. I have no idea, but she does it
- 16:20and she does it freely because she's a truck driver and they
- 16:22drug test her every week. This doesn't come up on a drug
- 16:25test. No, it does not.
- 16:26So she's like, I'm going to keep going.
- 16:27I love it. She says she gets high.
- 16:30Well, first of all, she smelled it because she really liked the
- 16:32smell. And then she was like, well,
- 16:34this is fine. And it gives me lightheaded for
- 16:36just a couple of seconds. What would happen if I stored
- 16:38it? So she started snorting it and
- 16:41she was like, that's what I need, she says.
- 16:43She gets lightheaded and dizzy and there's this like, really
- 16:46nice feeling she gets, she said. But also, my brain hurts.
- 16:50My skin hurts. But she said it in passing, like
- 16:53it barely mattered. It's like, no, no, no, bring it
- 16:56back. Your brain hurts your brain.
- 16:59And she can't process things as quickly as she said that she
- 17:02used to. She said that was the thing that
- 17:04she's noticing now, that she's been doing it, what, two years?
- 17:07Yeah, 2 is it. I think it was two years.
- 17:10And yeah, something's wrong, but The thing is the high, she said.
- 17:14Only last two minutes. So one of those cans every day.
- 17:19Literally, she says she goes through what, 28 cans per month?
- 17:23That's basically a can a day. Are we kidding?
- 17:26Oh my goodness. The thing with a literal warning
- 17:29label in the back that says do not consume, she is taking that
- 17:32every day. Up the nose.
- 17:40She said I figured I didn't die yet, I might as well continue
- 17:43because she's seen that label, of course.
- 17:47So she goes to the doctor and the doctors, like, I don't even
- 17:52know what we're talking about here.
- 17:53This is chemicals. This is not made to even be on
- 17:56our skin, let alone in a side of our bodies.
- 17:58And she looked up her nose and I just knew she's going to have
- 18:01holes in her nostrils, but she did not, which I was super
- 18:03surprised about, but they did her blood work and they were
- 18:06just like this. You could die immediately.
- 18:09You could on your next hit, sudden death, you're done.
- 18:12And her eyes got big and she was just like, oh, And the doctor
- 18:15said, so are you going to quit or at least try to quit?
- 18:18And she said yes, but not today. I just bought a whole new supply
- 18:23of of cleaning powder and I don't want to waste my money.
- 18:26Girl, I love that excuse. I love that excuse.
- 18:30Meanwhile I don't want to commit to anything.
- 18:32Like are you kidding? I just bought some new stuff so
- 18:35after this batch I promise I'll stop.
- 18:37I promise I'll stop, yes. Man not no, you ain't cleaning
- 18:42not not a thing. They think she's like a a maid
- 18:45or something like know how often she girl girl to buy a.
- 18:51New and say I just got this batch.
- 18:55I mean, I can't just like get rid of it.
- 18:57I'm like, well, you could use it to clean your tub, you know?
- 19:00Put it in the bottom of the sink where it's supposed to be.
- 19:03And leave it there. It's not going to go bad I.
- 19:05Promise you it won't. How long?
- 19:06It takes to run. Through this tub, it's there for
- 19:10a long time and you clean. Regularly.
- 19:13Exactly. You clean even once a week?
- 19:15Yeah. He said how long it takes to
- 19:16stay there. Yes.
- 19:17It's supposed to be there for a long time.
- 19:20That is the purpose. You just use it every once in a
- 19:22while. It's cleaning products.
- 19:24Not on her. And she's a truck driver too.
- 19:27She sit up in her truck just snorting away.
- 19:29She says I do it all day, every day.
- 19:31Girl. Yeah, I'm concerned for her.
- 19:35I am too. I need an update on her.
- 19:37Like, hey, mind. Strange addiction.
- 19:38If you're watching TLC, give me an update of all these people in
- 19:42a year. You know I need it.
- 19:44You leave us with if they stopped or not.
- 19:46But what after? What happens?
- 19:48After what happened? I need to know.
- 19:50Yes, the coffee lady. I need an update on the
- 19:52underwear sniffer. Oh.
- 19:54My God, I. Need I need all of these updates
- 19:57yes, I'm telling you TLC, you got some stuff that's my
- 20:01addiction. I sit down on the couch.
- 20:03I'm sat I'm. Addicted to watching y'all's
- 20:06addiction? Exactly.
- 20:09There was one more in the episode I wanted to talk about.
- 20:12So this lovely gentleman with great skin, by the way, look at
- 20:14how glossy skin. See.
- 20:16Moisturize, gentleman James. Yeah, that was facetious.
- 20:21Yeah. He's 38, and he is addicted to
- 20:25eating butter. Just however he can get it.
- 20:28He will bite straight into a stick of butter.
- 20:31He will melt it and drink it. And everything he cooks is like
- 20:36boiling in butter. Like multiple sticks of butter
- 20:40up in there. Like it has to be dripping with
- 20:43butter. Yes, for him to even consider
- 20:45eating it. I can't believe it.
- 20:47He had a friend over Santiago. He was shook.
- 20:50Oh. Because he made some, what did
- 20:53he make? Some steak, some steak.
- 20:54And it was dripping like soggy. But The thing is, he's like, you
- 20:59know, when you cook with butter, sometimes the normal amount, not
- 21:01his amount. And there's some leftover butter
- 21:04in there. You throw that out, right?
- 21:06No, not him. He took it to the head pan,
- 21:09straight from the pan into his mouth.
- 21:11Are we kidding? He doesn't play about his
- 21:13butter. And he somehow convinced himself
- 21:16that this is. For his health, this is healthy
- 21:18because he said he was overweight and depressed before
- 21:21and so he discovered this and started doing it and now he's
- 21:24super healthy. He works out all the time.
- 21:26When I say super healthy, but wait, I want to talk about that
- 21:28in a minute, but he said something called health maxing.
- 21:32So there might be some some people out there who know that
- 21:34what that is. And I was like, what the fuck is
- 21:35that? So I looked it up.
- 21:37It's a Wellness trend focused on intensely optimizing physical
- 21:41and mental performance through extreme regimented routines.
- 21:44So he chose. Butter, it's not like health
- 21:47maxing slash butter like he was like no butter is working for
- 21:51me, OK, And everyone else who isn't eating butter like he is
- 21:57is wrong and they're unhealthy and you're going to die when
- 22:00you're 40. Like it's like, yeah.
- 22:01He was, he was, he said. Have you tried?
- 22:03I just eating butter to Santiago and something was like, I just
- 22:05had some of that steak and I don't like it.
- 22:07And he was like, well, you can't knock it until you try it.
- 22:09And he said fat is king, queen and everything in between.
- 22:13OK, I'll take that quote because James, James is a mess.
- 22:21And so Santiago asked him, have you been to the doctor?
- 22:23And he was like, yeah, eight months ago.
- 22:25And he said, and what did he say?
- 22:26He was like, he said I was healthy.
- 22:27He said my cholesterol was high, though.
- 22:29And he started smiling. He's like, why are you smiling?
- 22:31He was like because. It's a good thing.
- 22:34No, babe, it's not cholesterol. High cholesterol is not a great
- 22:37thing. And he was like, it's fine.
- 22:40It's fine. And he was like, I don't care
- 22:43because I don't care about the opinions.
- 22:45He didn't say the facts, the opinions of a doctor.
- 22:48I won't let that influence my life.
- 22:50It's like, so the years and years and years worth of
- 22:53science. Nope.
- 22:55Means nothing. Means absolutely nothing,
- 22:57because his own personal journey is fine and he feels fine.
- 23:01So he's like, this is great. Butter.
- 23:04Yeah. How much butter?
- 23:05Oh, yeah. He scrambled 6 eggs and half a
- 23:07pound of butter, which is a stick.
- 23:10He melted a whole stick. And then when the eggs were
- 23:13done, he took another stick and ran it over the top.
- 23:16Yeah, that's greedy. When I saw when I saw he put
- 23:19more butter on the top, like it was toast or something, I was
- 23:23like that is so terrible. Why are you eating eggs?
- 23:27You just eat the butter. Like why are we playing?
- 23:31You don't want this. This is just food is just a
- 23:33delivery system for butter for butter essentially.
- 23:36But part of them is a little ashamed about it because.
- 23:40He would if he had a choice. He would just eat the butter.
- 23:42He would just eat the. Butter.
- 23:43I think he has to act like a normal person, so he buys the
- 23:47egg. Buys steak, yadda yadda yadda.
- 23:49Just eat the butter. Just eat the butter.
- 23:51He made a charcuterie board for his friend and everything and
- 23:53put sticks of butter on there. Sat there, I was like, bro,
- 23:56what's in butter? And he was just chomping on him
- 23:58like. And looking at him directly in
- 24:00his eyes, like challenging him, It was it was the weirdest eye
- 24:04contact ever. Like I swear I was like, this is
- 24:07kind of intimate. He was just like.
- 24:10Like, calm down. Honestly.
- 24:17Insane. I look at his skin though,
- 24:19because like I said, his skin is glistening and I feel like it's
- 24:22because butter is coming out of his pores.
- 24:24Oh yeah. Like I was waiting for him to be
- 24:28like. I even rub it on my skin.
- 24:30He might, I mean, I wouldn't be surprised.
- 24:32He might, because his favorite is the salted butter, right?
- 24:35Because he named all the assortments of butter, which is
- 24:38OK. Yeah, OK.
- 24:39But his favorite was the salted butter, right?
- 24:41So he goes, he sweats a little bit.
- 24:43He works out plenty I guess According to him and just chomps
- 24:47on butter. And it's no big deal.
- 24:49Yeah, listen. Oh God.
- 24:51Yeah, I need an update on him in a year.
- 24:53TLC that's are probably insane. Oh my gosh.
- 24:58Well, Speaking of updates, Netflix came out with a, well,
- 25:04it's a documentary, but I didn't really like certain parts of it.
- 25:07But yeah, it's a documentary about America's Next Stop model.
- 25:10And this one had Tyra Banks on it.
- 25:12It's called Reality check, America's Next Stop Model if we
- 25:14can go to my screen. So Tyra was a part of this one.
- 25:18They interviewed a lot of our main people, the the main Jays,
- 25:22the Nigel Tyra, multiple of the winners, like everyone and it's
- 25:28it was a hard. Watch.
- 25:30It was a hard watch, I mean. Because if you were on TikTok or
- 25:33on the Internet in 2020, people rediscovered the show and
- 25:37basically noted all of the problematic elements of it.
- 25:41The blackface challenges. What happened, I don't know,
- 25:44multiple changing races, like you're going to be such and such
- 25:50like what so problematic? What happened to the Jays, the
- 25:53firing Nigel, what happened to them?
- 25:55What happens to the winners after they win?
- 25:57How they're like basically blacklisted from like modeling
- 26:01in general. Because you came from a reality
- 26:03show. Exactly.
- 26:04It was all so problematic, but like, they had the Jays on there
- 26:07and their whole like relationship and everything.
- 26:10They were, apparently. Close they were.
- 26:13But. The way it happened was iffy.
- 26:17Yes, it was. And as someone who is old enough
- 26:20to have watched it on the first run, the first several seasons,
- 26:26yes, times were different. Early 2000s aren't a real time,
- 26:29you know, it just feels like a fever dream, you know, because
- 26:34the Internet was really ramping up, reality TV was ramping up.
- 26:37So the stuff that was on TV was bullshit, OK, but it was
- 26:41interesting and we were all set and we were watching.
- 26:45But looking back on some of the things, it is just like, I can't
- 26:50believe that that was even on the air exactly.
- 26:52And so if I don't want to give away a ton of things, but if you
- 26:56watched it, let us know and we can talk about it in the
- 26:59comments section talk. About everything.
- 27:01Oh my gosh y'all like there's stories from the winners and the
- 27:06stories from the models that were on the show were mind
- 27:10blowing. I honestly had no idea how that
- 27:13was even allowed Yeah heartbreaking because yeah we're
- 27:16not going to get into it because it's just going to make me mad,
- 27:18but please go watch it. It was insane.
- 27:22I think I have a couple more pictures yeah everybody knows
- 27:25it. Yeah, it.
- 27:26Was fruity for you? That's how they promoted the
- 27:29documentary, by the way. They were like, in case you
- 27:31remember this moment. And then finally, just watch so
- 27:36you know what's going on with Jay, Miss Jay and their life.
- 27:41But yeah, it was a interesting documentary.
- 27:44Apparently they're coming out with another documentary, right,
- 27:46With models only. So that should be interesting
- 27:49because this one was Tyra and a lot of her perspective as much
- 27:55as they could. So it's interesting to see it
- 27:59what will happen when she's not involved and.
- 28:02Oh, I will be sat for that one as well.
- 28:03So yeah, that was interesting. Thank you.
- 28:05But yeah, so in case y'all want to talk about that, we want to
- 28:10talk about it too. So drop it in the comments.
- 28:13Please. Please.
- 28:14Like, I'm itching to talk about it, literally.
- 28:16But one more story. This one is the lottery.
- 28:19I don't know what the lottery is now, but it must be big.
- 28:22Anyway, so back in 2019, there was a guy, his name is Mike
- 28:26Wierski. He won $273 million five months
- 28:31after he divorced his wife. That he just said it's a win.
- 28:41That's insane. Because let me say I'm just
- 28:44like, that's insane because let me provide some context.
- 28:47We need context here. That's insane.
- 28:49He said that's a win. OK.
- 28:50So apparently he and his wife, Eileen Murray, they were married
- 28:54for 15 years. Eileen was the primary
- 28:57breadwinner of the relationship. So after they divorced, she was
- 29:02ordered to basically pay alimony for five years.
- 29:05Yes, you see where I'm going with this.
- 29:08So Eileen now is a little upset that she has to pay this alimony
- 29:14when essentially he's doing better than she is.
- 29:16Exactly. It's like pocket change.
- 29:19He's like wiping his ass with her alimony.
- 29:21But to make it literally, but to make it even better, listen, to
- 29:27make it even better, the convenience store that he bought
- 29:30the ticket in is the same convenience store that he
- 29:33proposed to his wife in. Stop.
- 29:36You prefer you proposed in a convenient door.
- 29:40Let's be so. For real, the Harley-Davidson
- 29:42like it tells us everything we need to know.
- 29:46I don't think you should be surprised here.
- 29:48Of course he. Proposed in the convenience
- 29:50store. Yes, he did.
- 29:51And that's where he won the ticket.
- 29:52So she was like like, I am not upset about this at all.
- 29:56I'm kind of like, oh, why do I have to keep paying alimony?
- 29:59But it's fine, whatever. Do what he wants with his money.
- 30:02Exactly. But I'm his good luck charm,
- 30:04essentially. Because isn't she?
- 30:07Isn't she? And she's not asking for his
- 30:09money. I don't want y'all to think that
- 30:10she's asking for his money. She's not.
- 30:12She's saying that. OK, well, now this is hurting
- 30:14me. I could use that money now.
- 30:16Exactly. Straight like, He's good, he's
- 30:18good. It doesn't need me anymore.
- 30:21Yeah, that's not how it works. You can't.
- 30:23You can't like come back and like maybe re negotiate the
- 30:28terms of the divorce and the alimony.
- 30:30Can't you like? OK, I don't like.
- 30:35That I think situations are different, we should revisit.
- 30:39I agree. Yeah, that's unfair because if
- 30:41she lost her job, you know, but I don't think that matters.
- 30:44So I'm not super familiar with this, but if you all understand,
- 30:48let us know. Is there?
- 30:49A way for her to be like OK he's good now but sorry I forgot this
- 30:53one part. Mike was asked about the
- 30:55situation and he said quote it's over with.
- 30:58I just want her to stop being in my life.
- 31:00So not only did you went to under this everything
- 31:04$1,000,000, I'm not even asking for any of it.
- 31:06I'm just saying I don't want to pay you alimony.
- 31:08You came back trying to be all smart.
- 31:12Yeah. I just want you to stop being in
- 31:14my life. OK then.
- 31:15All. Everything out of your life, my
- 31:18money should be out of your life too, you know.
- 31:21But he being all selective with it.
- 31:22OK Mike, enjoy your money and your little alimony.
- 31:28Good for you bro. I know women, 1000. 1,000,000
- 31:36trillion men one literally he was like here's women, here's
- 31:39men 1 and I think it's like 3. Quarters of a win because he
- 31:43wanted to be smart at the end. Yeah, yeah, we could.
- 31:46We could still be a hater. I want to be a hater.
- 31:50Thank you. So this story shocked me.
- 31:56I was really, really surprised. So Mickey Barreto, he is on my
- 32:00screen. He basically squatted in The New
- 32:03Yorker Hotel and then tried to claim ownership of the whole
- 32:07building. Yeah.
- 32:10So I wrote a lot of notes because I did not want to mess
- 32:12this up. Oh my goodness.
- 32:13OK, so he and his boyfriend in 2018.
- 32:17Yes, boyfriend paid $200 for one night to rent A room in The New
- 32:22Yorker. OK, so then after the one night,
- 32:26they went to the management and they requested a lease claiming
- 32:29that his one night stay entitled him to protections under a city
- 32:32housing law that applies to single room occupants of
- 32:36buildings constructed before 1969.
- 32:39So he went in with receipts. He knew, found a loophole, found
- 32:42a loophole, right? Because a lot of these laws are
- 32:45poorly written and they leave loopholes.
- 32:47And so if you're smart enough, sometimes you can get up in
- 32:50there, right? And so they went back and forth
- 32:54and they were like, Nah. And so he wasn't going to leave
- 32:56his one room. So they said, fine, you will go
- 32:59to Mickey said we'll go to court.
- 33:01Guess who didn't send a lawyer on their behalf?
- 33:03You're you're kidding. So the judgement went to Mickey
- 33:08and he was awarded possession of the room.
- 33:11You're kidding? Yes.
- 33:13They didn't care enough and now he has the room.
- 33:15They did not take him seriously. So he got possession of the one
- 33:19room, right? So then that was not enough.
- 33:23Don't be greedy. Don't be greedy.
- 33:27So he uploaded a fake deed to the city transferring ownership
- 33:32of the whole hotel to himself because he said, let me see the
- 33:38judge who granted him possession of the room indirectly gave him
- 33:41the entire building because it had never been subdivided.
- 33:46You're. Lying.
- 33:48So when you said you have access to this room, he was like,
- 33:50actually, I have access to this whole building.
- 33:55It's mine. You're lying.
- 33:56No, he what? He is the king of loopholes.
- 34:02Loopholes, right? So then he not only did that, he
- 34:06tried to collect rent from a hotel planet.
- 34:09You're doing too much. You are doing too much.
- 34:12Way too much. Way too much.
- 34:15And then he goes to the hotel and demanded that they transfer
- 34:19its accounts to him. You just, you just wait, be
- 34:23happy with the room. You should have left it at the
- 34:25room rent free, you know, right. So he kept.
- 34:28But what he did wrong was uploading that fake D to the
- 34:31city. There you go.
- 34:32And that's how they got him. And they said he basically was
- 34:35evicted in 2024. Mind you, he moved in in 2018,
- 34:40Yes. And he was charged with felony
- 34:44fraud, but they said that he was not fit to to stand trial.
- 34:50Because actually, I disagree with that.
- 34:55I think he's the smartest guy. Ever so smart, right?
- 34:59So then he ended up pleading guilty for forging those
- 35:02property records and he had already served the six months in
- 35:05prison that he was sentenced to, and he had five years probation.
- 35:10So for eight years free rent, would you serve six months in
- 35:13prison? Absolutely shame me up, officer.
- 35:17Eight years, right? Absolutely.
- 35:20I'm not mad at him. I'll serve my time and then
- 35:23probation. I just don't have to.
- 35:24What? Commit another fraud?
- 35:26No. No.
- 35:26Crimes? No.
- 35:27None. None.
- 35:28None. Why am I acting like this?
- 35:31Is you're like none. Now let me think about this.
- 35:33You know we're getting. No jaywalking, nothing.
- 35:37No jaywalking, nothing. I'm mad at him.
- 35:41I am not mad. Again, like the woman with the
- 35:44phones. They're just mad that he found a
- 35:46loophole. Exactly.
- 35:48And there's so many loopholes. I mean, I don't know how much
- 35:50time you've spent looking at law, but when you read them,
- 35:54they are just like, well, I can interpret it this way.
- 35:57It has to be written in a way that there's no interpretation.
- 36:00But if you leave it open, you get a Mickey.
- 36:04I'm not mad. He had a room, a nice little
- 36:08home, rent free for eight years. For eight years in The New
- 36:11Yorker. I'm not.
- 36:13Mad it's a it's AI. Don't know, it's a New Yorker
- 36:16girl and he was up in there, but he wanted the whole thing.
- 36:20He said F your room, everything. He got greedy, he got greedy,
- 36:23tried to charge rent. He would have been up in there
- 36:26still. If he didn't get greedy exactly,
- 36:28nobody would have come for him. It's just one room.
- 36:30They know that's Mickey's room. Don't go in room 216 you know,
- 36:34because he going to be in there. The win bro.
- 36:36It's in The New Yorker, too. Yes.
- 36:38Take the win. Oh, he got greedy, Mickey, No.
- 36:43Oh well, but he already served his time and now he's out
- 36:45probably coming up with a new scam.
- 36:48Five years, Wait five years and wait.
- 36:50Another great story. All right, I have a Reddit rant.
- 36:59All right, Ready. My neighbor has appointed
- 37:03himself the unofficial package guardian of our street and I am
- 37:06losing my mind. It started about a year ago.
- 37:11I ordered something, it didn't show up and when I asked the
- 37:13delivery app it said hand it to resident.
- 37:16I knocked on my neighbor Rand's door and he opened it holding my
- 37:19package completely unbothered and said yeah I grabbed it for
- 37:22you, didn't want it sitting out. Oh OK fine.
- 37:26Kind of him I guess. I said thanks and thought it was
- 37:28that. It was not that Ron has now made
- 37:32this a permanent part of his personality.
- 37:34Any package that gets delivered within a three house radius of
- 37:38his home, he collects. Oh my God.
- 37:39No notes on your door, no text, nothing.
- 37:42You just come home, see no package, panic for 20 minutes
- 37:45taking it was stolen, and then remember you have to go knock on
- 37:48Ron's door like a medieval peasant collecting rain from the
- 37:52Lord. Please, please Sir, may I have
- 37:54my? Package in exchange for this
- 37:56coin like. Who told you to do this?
- 38:00Ron, And why are you on top of it?
- 38:02Yeah, does he not work? Ron, I swear to God, the part
- 38:07that gets me is that he's not always home when you have to
- 38:10pick it up. I've knocked three times on
- 38:12Saturday for a package I needed that day, and he wasn't there
- 38:14until evening. My package was just sitting in
- 38:17his hallway all day. I could see it through the
- 38:19glass. Panel next to the store, you see
- 38:21that would make me so. Mad I could.
- 38:23See it like if I really need that I'm breaking in.
- 38:26I'm like please, I need it. Oh my God.
- 38:31I've told him nicely twice that I preferred my packages left at
- 38:34my door. He nodded and said of.
- 38:36Course, of course. The next week he took a package
- 38:39of mine that contained medication I needed.
- 38:41I had to text him to please bring it over and he's replied
- 38:44just come over, whatever. I don't even think he's trying
- 38:47to be difficult. He didn't.
- 38:49He genuinely believes he's providing a service.
- 38:51That might be the most frustrating part.
- 38:53About all of this Oh my God it's medication and come over
- 38:58whenever or you could have just left it where it was.
- 39:00Why are you the package guardian and he just decided one day when
- 39:04were they having like people stealing from the neighborhood
- 39:09like he just. Decided, he said.
- 39:11This is my job now. I am.
- 39:14So I would be pissed because I mean, we have a notification
- 39:18system and it's like you have a package.
- 39:19Yes, I've been waiting for this and I run over to go get it.
- 39:22But if I have to go to somebody's house, I don't want
- 39:24to talk. To you, I didn't ask for a third
- 39:26party. I did not ask.
- 39:28Don't have to be sociable to just to get my package.
- 39:31Exactly what? What has sent me over the edge
- 39:33of seeing my package in your home and I can't reach it?
- 39:37Oh, I'm hot. What do you mean I'm hot?
- 39:40I think if I broke your door. Justified, but yeah, yeah.
- 39:45It's a little valid, you know? Yeah.
- 39:49I know. No, I don't like that at all.
- 39:51Like Ron? Respectfully, you're doing too
- 39:53much. You really?
- 39:54Are nobody asked for this? Come on, Ron.
- 39:59My God I know. Am I overreacting?
- 40:04I asked my husband for one night alone after giving birth and now
- 40:07he says I'm unstable. OK, is this rage bait?
- 40:12I can feel it. I can feel it.
- 40:14Yes. Prepare yourself.
- 40:16I'm prepared. OK.
- 40:17I, 32, female and my husband, 33 have been married for four years
- 40:22and last year we decided to finally try for a baby.
- 40:25When she was born I felt like the happiest woman ever, but at
- 40:28the same time I was exhausted physically and especially
- 40:31mentally. For the last three weeks I have
- 40:33not slept more than two hours straight.
- 40:35I get it. Dang, last night at 2:00 AM,
- 40:38Alice, our precious little girl, would not stop crying.
- 40:42I was pacing the hallway bouncing her whispering please
- 40:45please just sleep while my husband was snoring like a boar
- 40:49on the couch because he said he had a long shift at the
- 40:51warehouse and needed real rest. Swear.
- 40:58Something in me snapped. Valid.
- 41:03I woke him up and said I need one night, just one.
- 41:07I want to book a cheap hotel downtown, sleep alone, order
- 41:10room service and not hear anyone scream for 12 hours.
- 41:14I was not yelling but I was shaking, practically begging
- 41:17him. He looked at me like I had just
- 41:19confessed a crime and said what kind of mother wants to leave
- 41:24her newborn? Oh my goodness, like you're not
- 41:28here to This is my only job. Right.
- 41:31Yes, yes. Then he calls his mom and puts
- 41:36her on speaker. She told me that hormones are
- 41:39not an excuse to abandon my responsibilities and that when
- 41:43she had babies, she did not run off to hotels.
- 41:47This is what you signed up for. I signed up to parent with my
- 41:53partner this child that we both wanted.
- 41:55Yes. Are you kidding me?
- 41:58Yep. I love how you called your mom
- 42:01though. You are such a punk.
- 42:03I'm. Sorry that you are.
- 42:05I hate it. I hate it.
- 42:07And I'm sorry. I'm getting loud now.
- 42:09Yeah, like boy moms. The worst.
- 42:13The worst. OK, I never said I was leaving
- 42:17forever. I wanted one night to feel like
- 42:19a human being instead of a walking milk machine.
- 42:23My husband says I embarrassed him by making it sound like he
- 42:26doesn't help, which he does, but I'm the one being default parent
- 42:30who deals with this every minute of the day.
- 42:32Part of me wonders if asking for space makes me a selfish bitch.
- 42:36Another part of me thinks if I do not get a break soon I'm
- 42:39going to completely burn out. Am I overreacting for wanting
- 42:42one night away to sleep and breathe?
- 42:44No, it's one night and he's acting like he'll never see you
- 42:50again and you're leaving him alone with this baby that he
- 42:53helped create. I think he's scared.
- 42:56I think he will not know what to do if he's left alone with this
- 42:58kid because she said helps out. But do we need to like, hand me
- 43:02a diaper while I change? You know, do you know how to
- 43:05change the baby? Do you know how to?
- 43:07Make a bottle. Carried for nine months and
- 43:11she's asking for one night, 12 hours and you called your mom.
- 43:15To shame her. First of all, you shamed her.
- 43:18Yes, and then mom shamed her like I never needed.
- 43:22OK I feel bad for you because you should have deserved one
- 43:25night. Yes, because you didn't get it
- 43:26doesn't mean it makes it right. Exactly.
- 43:28And the fact that she was strong enough to even.
- 43:30Ask for that. Yeah.
- 43:31Because a lot of women feel like they need it.
- 43:33They feel overwhelmed. You, you see, with postpartum,
- 43:37there's so many things that can happen to the mother and to the
- 43:39child. And she was strong enough to
- 43:41say, look, this is I need this. I need this just for one day.
- 43:44I need you to help me. And he was like, what kind of
- 43:47mother are you? Single dude?
- 43:50Yeah. Instantly.
- 43:55Instantly. Cause what you're not going to
- 43:56do is call your mom to help you shame me.
- 43:59I'm just, I'm stuck on that. Why are you calling your mom?
- 44:03Who? Brought up mom.
- 44:05No one said her name. Why are you?
- 44:08My mom did it right. Let me let her school you and
- 44:12there's a lot she did not. I'm seeing a lot of men, young
- 44:17men online talking about how not even young, but just talking
- 44:21about how older generation women they were.
- 44:24They did it right. They didn't complain, they
- 44:26didn't work. They you know, they took care of
- 44:27the kids and they blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 44:29And it's like you're not taking any of the context into you
- 44:33know, they couldn't have their own bank accounts, they couldn't
- 44:35buy a home. They didn't have jobs.
- 44:37They put up with shit and one thing that I do know because I
- 44:41looked up the stats, once women were allowed to do no fault
- 44:45divorces, the amount of husbands who died unexpectedly went down.
- 44:51Oh. My God died unexpectedly.
- 44:58Arsenic in the coffee. Oh there, you just fell down the
- 45:02stairs. That stat is insane.
- 45:04These women were were handling business, but quietly and so if
- 45:08you need to, they need to get out.
- 45:11Because, you know, because if you didn't cook your own food,
- 45:15you don't know what I put in the food.
- 45:17You didn't make your own. Coffee.
- 45:19Then you don't know what I put in the.
- 45:20Coffee. So allegedly.
- 45:23Allegedly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 45:25allegedly. So you need to quit playing with
- 45:27these women and give them what they asked for, because they're
- 45:30not asking for the world, they're asking for help.
- 45:32Oh my gosh, help. And they get all surprised when
- 45:35something happens to the mom or when something has to happen to
- 45:38the child. Yes, you know.
- 45:40It's like that irresponsible for you to not see it or to see it
- 45:43and to ignore it. Yes, because people act like
- 45:46having a baby is literally nothing.
- 45:48First of all, what it does to your body physically, but
- 45:51hormones are huge. You take a dip, you take a this,
- 45:56and your actions are not your own for a long time.
- 46:01And so quit playing with her. You know, give her 24 hours.
- 46:06Yeah, yeah, yeah. She was only asked for 12.
- 46:07Give her a whole day. So.
- 46:11Yeah, delete your. Mom's phone and your number.
- 46:15You don't need her. I promise.
- 46:18All right, Reddit confession pretended to be my dad's ghost
- 46:23and may have inadvertently saved my brother's life.
- 46:27OK. All right.
- 46:29My dad died when I was 13 and my brother was 15.
- 46:32A few weeks or months after his death, I got the weird urge to
- 46:36pretend to be his ghost so that my mom and brother would feel
- 46:39comforted. My brother and I had both had
- 46:42the same brand stereo so both of our remotes were interchangeable
- 46:46and there was a crack between his door and frame that allowed
- 46:48me to control his stereo from the outside from the door with
- 46:51my remote. So I got the idea to tiptoe to
- 46:54his door one night and play my dad's favorite song, Stand By
- 46:57Me, Benny King. Great song, great song.
- 47:01I had gone into his room earlier that day to check the CD to see
- 47:04which number the track was, so I did it 3 or 4 times in a row and
- 47:07then went to bed. He doesn't mention anything the
- 47:10next day and I pretty much forget about it until about 15
- 47:12years later when my brother and I were talking about the
- 47:15depression and suicide. One day he confessed that he
- 47:18almost shot himself right after dad died.
- 47:20I asked him what pulled him back and he looked at me dead in the
- 47:22face and said that he had the gun in his hand when all of a
- 47:25sudden Stand by me started playing.
- 47:27I sat there frozen. Oh my God.
- 47:32What's even more spooky is that he continues to tell me that the
- 47:35first time I played that night, he unplugged the stereo and then
- 47:38the plug was in his hand. It played again and again.
- 47:41To this day, I haven't told him and I won't ever tell him.
- 47:44Oh my God. That's so sweet.
- 47:47I know. And really sad.
- 47:49Really sad. There he was there.
- 47:52And I mean, talking about ghosts.
- 47:54I mean, you were an Angel in that moment.
- 47:57I mean, why would you even do that?
- 47:59You were compelled to do that and do it at that moment.
- 48:02Oh my goodness. I know I'm sorry to bring the
- 48:05mood down, but I was like, this is insane that is.
- 48:07Because you were. There for your brother and you
- 48:09had no idea. Wow, I know.
- 48:14Yeah, I don't even have anything to say it was.
- 48:17Amazing he had to confess that he saved.
- 48:19His brother's life. That's so special, right?
- 48:22I love that. All right, Am I overreacting?
- 48:28My best friend gave me a fake Louis Vuitton bag for my
- 48:31birthday and lied about spending $7000 on it.
- 48:35Girl, this is serious right here, not the LV.
- 48:39The LV. All right, I've been friends
- 48:41with Chloe for six years, Genuinely one of my closest
- 48:45people. Last month, for my birthday, she
- 48:47gave me what she said was a Louis Vuitton capu scene.
- 48:51Oh, I don't know, I may be right.
- 48:53Maybe. Yeah.
- 48:54Tell me how to pronounce it in the comments.
- 48:55Right bag and I'm talking. She made a whole thing of it.
- 49:00She told me she'd been quietly saving up because it'd been a
- 49:03brutal year and she wanted to do something meaningful for me.
- 49:06I literally cried. I felt so seen.
- 49:09Here's the thing, though. I live somewhere with a pretty
- 49:12high theft rate and I'm not exactly rolling in money, so if
- 49:16I'm going to be carrying around something worth $7000, I need it
- 49:19on my renter's insurance. Period.
- 49:21So I took it to a consignment shop just to get it appraised.
- 49:26If you would go to my screen, I have a picture of the the bag.
- 49:29No way. The woman there kind of paused
- 49:32and said it was a replica, a really high tier one, but still.
- 49:37She pointed out the made in Italy stamp.
- 49:40Apparently real Capu scenes are made in France.
- 49:45Oh. My God.
- 49:48It even came with like, the bag and everything.
- 49:51So I mean, it was super high end.
- 49:53Oh my God. But yeah, I wasn't even furious
- 49:56at first. I was just confused.
- 49:59Like, why would you lie about saving up $7000?
- 50:02That's such a specific emotional lie.
- 50:05I mean, I would totally be OK if she gave me this quality
- 50:07replica, but with telling the truth, right?
- 50:10I pulled Chloe aside and just asked her about it, genuinely
- 50:12not accusatory, and she lost it. Called me ungrateful, said I was
- 50:17materialistic for vetting a gift.
- 50:19She whipped out her phone and pulled up WhatsApp with a high
- 50:22end seller and shoved it in my face.
- 50:25She literally gave me the seller's contact info and told
- 50:28me to verify it myself so I could see that she still spent
- 50:30$410 on the replica. She started screaming that I'm
- 50:35ungrateful because 410 is still a massive birthday present and
- 50:39the fact that I'm focused on it being a Rep proves I only care
- 50:43about the label. Now she's going around telling
- 50:45our mutual friends that I'm brand obsessed and that I made
- 50:48her feel like a criminal for trying to do something nice.
- 50:52Some of our friends agree with her, others think the lie is
- 50:55weird. I don't even care that much
- 50:57about the bag itself. It's the fake story about saving
- 51:00up that's messing with my head and my overreacting, no?
- 51:03And why are you making it such a big thing all?
- 51:06I asked. I don't care.
- 51:07No, you gave me a gift. You thought of me.
- 51:10That was the base of it. And also 7000 to 400.
- 51:13That's insane. Like like she looked it up.
- 51:16She knew it cost 7 grand, but why come up with this whole
- 51:19life, everything, and then when I come for you, you start making
- 51:23this way bigger than it needs to be?
- 51:25Yes, I don't care. It's I don't care.
- 51:28And I was not checking on. I was like, girl, if I'm gonna
- 51:29be carrying around this $7000 bag, I need to put it on my
- 51:32insurance. Valid.
- 51:34But you telling the friends, the friends saying, oh, she's
- 51:36materialistic. It's like, what are we talking
- 51:39about? Please?
- 51:40You're materialistic. Yeah.
- 51:41Like you think that it matters. Like if a friend give me a bag
- 51:44that cost $400.00 a bag girl Are you sure 400?
- 51:48It's like you're just you're my friend.
- 51:50I couldn't care less. I don't.
- 51:52But her being all offended is insane.
- 51:54Like you had a rough year, so I saved up $7000 to spend on you.
- 51:59It feels like she wanted that kind of validation from her
- 52:02friend and so that she was getting that out of it.
- 52:06And so when she called her out on it, she was like, it felt
- 52:09some type of way. Girl, it's OK, and you don't
- 52:13need to be embarrassed. 400 is still a lot for a bag, for a
- 52:16gift in general, just for a friend, you know?
- 52:19Yeah, it wasn't about that. But she went there.
- 52:22Yeah. And no, you're not overreacting.
- 52:25Good Lord. Still a really cute bag.
- 52:28Calm down. Good Lord.
- 52:30Read it off my chest. My dad told the family he has no
- 52:34son anymore. We don't speak now.
- 52:36He needs my kidney and I still love him.
- 52:40Context please. My cousin called me three months
- 52:43back to tell me a story about my dad who I don't speak with
- 52:46regularly. My dad took my cousins out to
- 52:48the ranch, had a couple beers and haunted, only for him to
- 52:51express his displeasure in my way of being with everyone there
- 52:54once they started getting things off their chest.
- 52:57For context, essentially I'm the disappointment child in his
- 53:00eyes. I don't want to go into why that
- 53:02is as I don't want to veer into my identity or what have you,
- 53:05but I discress. Essentially he expressed how he
- 53:08has no son and how I've gone off to doing crazy things.
- 53:12Nothing new out of his mouth of course, but what's new is him
- 53:15saying this to extended family. Usually he keeps his insults
- 53:19toward me and me alone. I don't like him.
- 53:22I know now since that's off the table, he's sharing his opinion
- 53:25of me to others. My cousin found it deeply
- 53:28disgusting that he had said that and thought that he had to let
- 53:31me know. Little did he know is that I
- 53:33already understood this. I felt deep rejection from my
- 53:36father ever since I was a little boy.
- 53:38Now that I'm a nearly 30 year old man that rejects and hurts
- 53:41much less. Yet now my dad is calling, he's
- 53:44wanting to chat or talk about sports or hunting, things I
- 53:47don't enjoy but I will entertain him as we literally can't talk
- 53:50about anything else. I found it odd that he wanted to
- 53:53go do this. Come to find out, he has his
- 53:56right. Leg amputated above the knee and
- 53:57needs a kidney transplant due to complications with diabetes.
- 54:01Oh OK wait, hold on. He's trying to connect with you
- 54:04now because he knows he's going to need something from you and
- 54:07he's not even bothering to know what your things are.
- 54:10He's like here, let's still just talk about my shit.
- 54:13Exactly. I know I get the ick, I can put
- 54:17the puzzle pieces together, but I'm conflicted.
- 54:20A part of me is deeply angry that he's choosing to interact
- 54:23with me only when he needs a literal organ of mine.
- 54:26Another part of me is happy that my dad is treating me like a
- 54:28human being, which is far from what I've experienced from him
- 54:31growing up. I love him, but I've experienced
- 54:34so much from him already and attempt to construct my identity
- 54:36to fit his expectations, which I eventually stopped doing.
- 54:39As it turns out, living inauthentically breeds severe
- 54:42mental illness. Heavy on yes.
- 54:45After years of putting in so much effort and attempts to
- 54:48appease him, at the end of it all I was still dejected by him
- 54:52now, though he'd loved to go get dinner sometime.
- 54:54He'd loved to watch that movie. I like it.
- 54:57Makes that little boy me who wanted to make my dad proud beam
- 55:00when he says those things. But then echoing are the words
- 55:03that he said not even three months back.
- 55:05And of course the words shared with me while I was raised.
- 55:09I don't want my father to die. I also don't want to feel this
- 55:12obligation to give him my kidney just for him to ostracize me
- 55:16again. That part taking my childhood
- 55:18mental stability and now organs too.
- 55:21This sucks. I don't want him to die.
- 55:23Maybe the donors on the list will help, not sure.
- 55:27That's tough. Yeah, 'cause first, how selfish
- 55:31are you? Yeah, you don't want your son
- 55:33around because of who he literally is, but who he
- 55:38literally is is. Good enough when you want a part
- 55:40of it, when you want part of that body.
- 55:42Wow, that's insane. I am not just there for spare
- 55:45parts like that part. We're supposed to have a
- 55:48relationship and he's trying to do that.
- 55:50I say trying in quotes. See a movie, go have dinner
- 55:54like. Talking about sports and hunting
- 55:56and he's like, I don't care about none of that, any of that.
- 55:58But his trauma is like, oh, this is all I've ever wanted to hear
- 56:04from you. But it's not real.
- 56:05It's not. It's only temporary because once
- 56:08he gets that kidney, if he gets the kidney, it's probably going
- 56:11to go back to normal, normal. Am I petty?
- 56:16I'd be like, what I'm saying is that he's right.
- 56:18There's a, there's a list of people who can get on that list.
- 56:23You can call me to see what happens.
- 56:27You know, like, I don't think he deserves that from me.
- 56:29No, no, and he doesn't deserve to be treated that way.
- 56:32No Dang. I know, I know, that sucks.
- 56:38I'm offended. Am I overreacting?
- 56:43My boyfriend tricked me into eating meat.
- 56:46Oh, is she a vegan? That's not fair.
- 56:49I-21 female, have been a vegetarian my entire life.
- 56:53My mom raised me and my brother vegetarian and taught us to
- 56:56respect animals. My brother started eating meat
- 56:59every now and then once he was in college, but I have never in
- 57:02my life eaten meat. Not only am I vegetarian, but I
- 57:05care a lot about animals. I literally feel horrible if I
- 57:08accidentally step on a bug even though I know I'm crazy.
- 57:12That's cute. My boyfriend of three years, 25,
- 57:16is not vegetarian and he eats meat regularly.
- 57:18His family is Dominican so it's a large part of his culture and
- 57:21diet. I have no problem with him or
- 57:23his family eating meat. When we have dinner at his
- 57:26parents, I simply avoid dishes with meat in them and opt for
- 57:28plantains or rice and beans. He has always known and
- 57:32respected my feelings around meat and animals and make sure
- 57:35to cook his food on different pans if he's making a dish with
- 57:38meat while making me a vegetarian version.
- 57:40Sounds really sweet, yeah. I have never expected him to
- 57:44stop eating meat as he has mentioned that he could never
- 57:47give up meat. He has never once tried to turn
- 57:50me or convince me to try it. Even when we first met he was
- 57:53very respectable. About two months ago he started
- 57:56asking me questions about how I get proper nutrition and overall
- 57:59questions about my diet. He asked about protein sources
- 58:02and how often I eat. I didn't think much about it,
- 58:05but I was happy to explain anything he was confused or
- 58:07curious about. About 3 to 4 weeks ago I noticed
- 58:10he was starting to eat less meat when we were eating at
- 58:12restaurants or at his parents. I asked him about it and he told
- 58:15me he was going to try to give up eating meat because he knew
- 58:18how important it was to me. Oh, that's sweet.
- 58:21I was ecstatic. I never expected him to give up
- 58:23something that means so much to him.
- 58:25After he told me, he started making us both vegetarian meals
- 58:28frequently and commenting on how he thinks he's actually becoming
- 58:31healthier. Oh.
- 58:33This. Is sweet.
- 58:34While I was in class he texted me to ask if I wanted him to
- 58:38make Aspergers for dinner. I said yes and honestly got very
- 58:41hungry. I assume this is a veggie
- 58:42burger. I could hardly stop thinking
- 58:46about it. When I got to my apartment after
- 58:48class, the table was set and he was sitting excitedly at the
- 58:50table. I even noticed the box the
- 58:52veggie burgers came in sitting in the recycling bin.
- 58:55When we started eating, I noticed the burger tasted
- 58:58differently than I usually does, but I hadn't had burgers in a
- 59:01bit so I figured I either misremembered or the change was
- 59:05because my boyfriend had add some extra things into the
- 59:07burger, so I ignored it. I had about half the burger when
- 59:11he started giggling. I asked him what was so funny
- 59:16and he said he asked if I noticed anything different about
- 59:19the burger. I told him told him it tasted a
- 59:22bit different. He asked if it tasted better
- 59:25than usual. Honestly it really didn't but I
- 59:27didn't want to insult him so I said yes.
- 59:30He started laughing louder which is when I got the sinking
- 59:32feeling in my stomach. I asked what's so funny and he
- 59:35said I knew you'd like meat more.
- 59:37Doesn't it taste so good? Oh, why would you do that?
- 59:41It's not funny. It's not funny.
- 59:44You were missing out on so much. He said to me.
- 59:47I started feeling sick so suddenly that I immediately ran
- 59:49to the bathroom and threw up like 3 times.
- 59:51I could still hear him laughing in the other room while I sobbed
- 59:54my eyes out. I'm writing this still sitting
- 59:57on the bathroom floor. I heard the door open and close
- 1:00:00about 10 minutes ago, but I still can't even stand up
- 1:00:02without feeling nauseous. I know I might be being
- 1:00:05dramatic, but I usually pride myself on being a perfect vegan
- 1:00:08in quotes because I'm the only one in my family to have never
- 1:00:11eaten meat. Yeah I feel so betrayed.
- 1:00:14He was seriously lying about wanting to become a vegetarian
- 1:00:18and about not caring about my diet for three years.
- 1:00:20I feel like I'm going crazy. He's texting me like 5 times but
- 1:00:23I only read one that said when you stop crying like a baby over
- 1:00:26a burger let me know. This is seriously embarrassing
- 1:00:29for you. Am I overreacting?
- 1:00:32No, you are not. Can I fight him?
- 1:00:37Are you serious? It's not funny and that's so
- 1:00:39rude. And he got pleasure in making
- 1:00:41this a joke and tricking her and then calling her a baby
- 1:00:46afterwards? If something is so important to
- 1:00:48you, you don't just trash on it. He stepped all over this.
- 1:00:51Yes, and that's the problem. I could have the stupidest hobby
- 1:00:57you know desire, but if my partner shits all over it then
- 1:01:00you are not the person for me because you should know how
- 1:01:03important it is to me, period. And that should make it
- 1:01:07untouchable. Exactly what's important to you
- 1:01:10is important to me automatically.
- 1:01:13But he tricked her. It's the tricking part for me.
- 1:01:16It's like you. You made me believe like you
- 1:01:18wanted to adopt the same type of lifestyle.
- 1:01:22I trusted you enough to make food for me and you tricked me
- 1:01:26into eating meat that. What?
- 1:01:27Why? That's the thing you just said
- 1:01:29trust. Like she probably has made her
- 1:01:33own meals or whatever she said. Sometimes he makes her meals,
- 1:01:36but I'm like, Oh my God, to to and to derive so much joy after
- 1:01:41playing this long con. Like this was a long con.
- 1:01:44Like, I don't understand why you would even do that.
- 1:01:47She never tried to pressure you to eat the meat.
- 1:01:50Or to not eat the meat and so why would you pressure her the
- 1:01:53other way? It was so rude.
- 1:01:55And to laugh while she's crying and she's throwing up.
- 1:01:59How do you not know this wasn't a serious situation?
- 1:02:02She's never eaten meat in her life.
- 1:02:03She eats meat burger. How do you know that didn't mess
- 1:02:06her up like physically? Like there's so many things that
- 1:02:10he just did not consider or didn't care for and then called.
- 1:02:12Her a baby if it was. A restaurant.
- 1:02:16If it was a restaurant, she could sue.
- 1:02:18Exactly. Exactly.
- 1:02:19But because it's her boyfriend, she's just supposed to get over
- 1:02:21it. No XXX, Yeah.
- 1:02:25Yeah I know y'all on TikTok that taught me that if he messes up
- 1:02:28once it is X. Y'all are quick with it right?
- 1:02:34I love it. All right, well, I conveniently
- 1:02:37have another one that's like, honestly in the same vibe.
- 1:02:40Really. OK, conveniently read it off my
- 1:02:43chest. My mother-in-law hates that I'm
- 1:02:45an artist but I'm not offended and my husband just shrugged it
- 1:02:49off by saying mom's right. It's just creating mean,
- 1:02:52meaningless creations. Meaningless.
- 1:02:56I-28 female. I go by Valerie, and I've been
- 1:03:00an artist for as long as I can remember.
- 1:03:02Not in the cute hobby way, but in the way that feels stitched
- 1:03:06to your identity. I draw when I'm stressed.
- 1:03:08I sketch what I'm thinking. I spent years practicing,
- 1:03:11improving, taking small commissions here and there.
- 1:03:14It's just something I do. It's something that keeps me
- 1:03:16grounded. My mother-in-law, 57, female
- 1:03:19Linda, has never really liked it.
- 1:03:22She's never been outright cruel, but her tone always carries that
- 1:03:25subtle dismissal. At family dinner, she'll say,
- 1:03:28are you still drawing? The way someone might ask if
- 1:03:31you're still playing pretend? She's made comments about
- 1:03:34stability, about real careers and how passion doesn't pay
- 1:03:37bills. I didn't take it personally.
- 1:03:40I genuinely didn't. She comes from a generation and
- 1:03:43a mindset where security means everything.
- 1:03:46To her, art probably looks risky and practical, probably even
- 1:03:49childish. I understand that perspective,
- 1:03:52even if I don't agree with it. But hurt wasn't her.
- 1:03:55It was my husband, Leo, 29, male.
- 1:03:58The other night, after one of her usual comments about me
- 1:04:01needing something more meaningful, I laughed it off.
- 1:04:04Later, when we were alone, I told him I didn't mind what his
- 1:04:07mom said, but I didn't ask him if he actually agreed with her
- 1:04:09either. He shrugged.
- 1:04:11Literally just shrugged like nothing and said I mean Mom's
- 1:04:15right, it's just creating meaningless creations.
- 1:04:19Oh my goodness. He said it so casually, like it
- 1:04:21wasn't something that would sit in my chest for hours.
- 1:04:24That word stayed with me. Literally stayed with me.
- 1:04:27Meaningless art might not have life saving surgery, it might
- 1:04:32not be engineering or finance. But meaningless.
- 1:04:35The portraits I've done for people who have cried when they
- 1:04:37received them, The sketches that helped me through anxiety, the
- 1:04:40commissions that paid for small but important things.
- 1:04:43The hours of discipline and focus.
- 1:04:45That doesn't feel meaningless to me.
- 1:04:47I didn't argue with him, I didn't explode.
- 1:04:49I just went quiet. And here's the strange part.
- 1:04:52I'm still not offended by my mother-in-law, but I feel
- 1:04:54disappointed in my husband. Not because he wants stability,
- 1:04:58that's fair. Not because he wants money,
- 1:05:00that's valid. But because he's reduced
- 1:05:02something that is deeply personal to me into something
- 1:05:05trivial, Right. I'm not naive.
- 1:05:07I know art is competitive. I know it's hard to make
- 1:05:09sustainable income from it. I'm not pretending it's easy.
- 1:05:13I've always been realistic about balancing passion and
- 1:05:16responsibility. But I've never thought that the
- 1:05:18person I married would see that what I do is meaningless.
- 1:05:22Now I'm sitting with this uncomfortable realization that
- 1:05:25maybe he's never truly respected this part of me.
- 1:05:28Maybe he tolerates it. Maybe he thinks I'll grow out of
- 1:05:31it. And that hurts me more than any
- 1:05:33comment his mom could ever make. I'm not angry.
- 1:05:36I'm just thinking. Because if the person you choose
- 1:05:38to build a life with doesn't see value in something that defines
- 1:05:41you, what does that mean long term?
- 1:05:44I don't know yet. I'm not making dramatic
- 1:05:46decisions. Not yet.
- 1:05:47I think I just know I can't unhear what he said.
- 1:05:50And you shouldn't. And I'm about to rant for a
- 1:05:52little bit because. As I knew, I knew.
- 1:05:56A house full of artists here in our home.
- 1:05:59And as someone who worked really hard to have my career, I have
- 1:06:05heard that. How's your little writing go
- 1:06:07going? It's a little side hobby.
- 1:06:09It's a little thing you do on the side.
- 1:06:11But then once you start making actual money, it's like, Oh well
- 1:06:15then. All of a sudden, it's important.
- 1:06:17Exactly. Then it is a career.
- 1:06:19Then it is a way to support yourself.
- 1:06:21It is a stable way. And I don't like that because if
- 1:06:25you're not going to support me as I'm struggling, just like
- 1:06:30drawing on napkins and doing portraits for a little bit of
- 1:06:33money on the side, then don't come for me later when I'm doing
- 1:06:38these huge projects and I'm mentioned on, you know, in the
- 1:06:42news or something. But even that's not a measure of
- 1:06:44success. She's successful right now
- 1:06:47because she leans into this thing that she's so passionate
- 1:06:50about. And for him and everybody in his
- 1:06:53family to be like, just brushing it off, girl.
- 1:06:56Run, run. Because it's not going to get
- 1:06:58better. No.
- 1:06:59And they're always watching, aren't they?
- 1:07:01Like it's not like it's a your little thing.
- 1:07:04I know it's not going to go anywhere.
- 1:07:06It's like your little thing, but I'm a be there just in case it
- 1:07:09turns into something and just in case I can get something out of
- 1:07:12this. Yes, it's always for their own
- 1:07:15benefit too. Absolutely.
- 1:07:16That's just like Dang. And no, I agree with her.
- 1:07:20Art is so important. You see all those like end of
- 1:07:24the world movies and stuff, They always grab, you know, all the
- 1:07:28arts, the arts, sculptures and everything.
- 1:07:30It's like, OK, but you want to protect those and you want to
- 1:07:32preserve those and keep those moving forward.
- 1:07:34Because when it was 2020 and we had nothing to do.
- 1:07:40All we were doing was consuming art, movies, music, painting,
- 1:07:44drawing. Like what?
- 1:07:46It was art, yes, reading books, like don't act like art doesn't
- 1:07:50make the world go round. Because I remember when people
- 1:07:53were saying that when the writers and the actors went on
- 1:07:55strike a few years ago, they were saying this isn't brain
- 1:07:59surgery. You're not, you know, saving any
- 1:08:01lives. And people were giving accounts
- 1:08:04of when it did save their life. My mom was dying of cancer and
- 1:08:08all she did was watch television and we watched old TV shows
- 1:08:11together and it kept her spirits up while she was suffering.
- 1:08:15Like you can't tell me it's not important.
- 1:08:17Like no, it's not brain surgery, but what else is brain surgery
- 1:08:20but brain surgery? Like let things be what they are
- 1:08:23and they and art is important and you cannot tell me otherwise
- 1:08:26because I will fight you. Yeah, it gets people out of
- 1:08:29depression, like it saves their lives.
- 1:08:32And for you to put it down into something that's just.
- 1:08:36Minute and doesn't matter is so disrespectful.
- 1:08:39Yeah, don't do that. Yeah, it's never going to get
- 1:08:42get get better. So if you want to keep drawing
- 1:08:45and you want to have any bit of respect, you're not going to get
- 1:08:47it from this side. No, but I do.
- 1:08:49Not like the art that. They're making no one can
- 1:08:51recreate art because it's the humanity aspect of it.
- 1:08:54It's the struggle, it's the passion, things that go into it.
- 1:08:58It's like, that's why we love an album.
- 1:09:00When someone just broke up, it's like it's yeah, it's passion
- 1:09:04literally coming. Out of you.
- 1:09:05That is what art is. It's just you putting it into
- 1:09:08physical form. That's what it is.
- 1:09:11It's your soul, yes. So for you to say it doesn't
- 1:09:14matter, it's just like, OK, So what are we doing on the planet?
- 1:09:16Then right. And that would be the same
- 1:09:18person that's sits down every Wednesday, you know, at 8:00 PM
- 1:09:22to watch a show and who reads books on the train and who
- 1:09:26listens to music while they clean their house.
- 1:09:28Like don't tell me that, please. Then stop consuming art if it
- 1:09:31doesn't matter you. Bye.
- 1:09:35Yeah, we're a. Little feisty over here.
- 1:09:36You know, OK, so I have my last. One and it has an update so yes
- 1:09:43yes, all right. Am I?
- 1:09:45Overreacting. For calling off my engagement
- 1:09:48after my fiance admitted his family secretly tested me to see
- 1:09:52if I was a gold digger. All right, I-24 female.
- 1:09:59Have been with my fiance 27 for almost 4 years.
- 1:10:02He has a really well paying job in tech and I make pretty
- 1:10:05average money. We've always split things fairly
- 1:10:08and I've never asked him for expensive stuff or trips or
- 1:10:10anything. I honestly thought money was a
- 1:10:13non issue for us. I never was interested in him
- 1:10:16for his money anyways. We genuinely click so well and I
- 1:10:19love his personality. We are into the same nerdy
- 1:10:22things and his family really seem to like me.
- 1:10:24I never thought I would have to worry about our relationship
- 1:10:27going South until now. A few days ago my fiance sat me
- 1:10:32down. And said he had something.
- 1:10:34He wanted to tell me and he was smiling like it was good news.
- 1:10:37He basically told me that his family has been secretly testing
- 1:10:40me for 11 months to make sure I wasn't a gold digger.
- 1:10:45He said they were worried I only liked him for his income and
- 1:10:48wanted proof before we got married. 11 months.
- 1:10:52Oh my God. The.
- 1:10:55Test that. They had all made it seem.
- 1:10:57Like he was struggling financially and might lose his
- 1:11:00job, his mom would casually bring up layoffs, his dad talked
- 1:11:03about how unstable tech is and slowly it turned into he might
- 1:11:08actually lose his job and you guys might have to really
- 1:11:11downsize. At one point his mom even told
- 1:11:14me I should be prepared to financially help him if it came
- 1:11:17to that. I never wanted to bring up the
- 1:11:19possibility of a layoff for him because I didn't want to stress
- 1:11:21him out. I wanted to be prepared to
- 1:11:24support him if needed. So I started budgeting more,
- 1:11:27saving money, cutting back on random spending, skipping stuff
- 1:11:31I wanted, and just genuinely trying to prepare for the worst.
- 1:11:34I constantly reassured my fiance, encouraging him, told
- 1:11:38him we'd be fine, that I didn't care about money, that I just
- 1:11:41wanted us. But this whole thing was fake.
- 1:11:44His job was never in danger, his income never changed, there were
- 1:11:48no layoffs. His family literally planned
- 1:11:50this whole thing together. They kept it going for almost a
- 1:11:53year. That's messed up.
- 1:11:55I'm sorry. That's messed up.
- 1:11:57Yeah. Apparently this all started
- 1:11:59because his older brother went through a really messy divorce.
- 1:12:02He now now pays a ton in child support and his ex-wife got a
- 1:12:06lot of money in the divorce and his family fully blames her and
- 1:12:09thinks she was a gold digger. So now they're super paranoid
- 1:12:12about any woman who dates one of their sons.
- 1:12:14Oh God. The thing is, I've.
- 1:12:17Actually met her. The brother's ex-wife and I did
- 1:12:21not get gold digger vibes from her and honestly it makes me
- 1:12:24feel uncomfortable how much they demonize her.
- 1:12:28My fiance said his parents finally told him that I.
- 1:12:30Passed. And that they felt comfortable
- 1:12:32with him marrying me now. He said he wanted to tell me
- 1:12:35because he thought I'd be relieved to know he actually
- 1:12:38isn't struggling financially and that it shows how much his
- 1:12:41family cares about protecting him.
- 1:12:45Go on and go home with these. Mama's boys, Jesus Christ.
- 1:12:48Right now. Then he tells me that to
- 1:12:51celebrate, he upgraded our honeymoon to a nice luxury
- 1:12:54resort in Hawaii. I mentioned this resort when
- 1:12:57initially honeymoon planning but deemed it too expensive so
- 1:13:00settled for a more modest option.
- 1:13:02But I feel weird about it. I don't want to be rewarded for
- 1:13:04being manipulated. No man, like good job we tricked
- 1:13:08you. You were so gullible you
- 1:13:09believed it. Here's a nicer vacation.
- 1:13:11Exactly. No, thank you, I told him.
- 1:13:14I felt manipulated. Embarrassed and honestly
- 1:13:17humiliated that his whole family was watching my reactions and
- 1:13:19judging my character behind my back for almost a year.
- 1:13:22He said I'm looking at it wrong and that I proved I'm not with
- 1:13:24him for his money and that this should make me feel more secure
- 1:13:27in our relationship. His family is acting like this
- 1:13:31is totally normal and that I should be proud of myself.
- 1:13:34His mom literally said most girls wouldn't have handled that
- 1:13:37so gracefully. OK I told him I need space and
- 1:13:41I'm seriously considering calling off the engagement but I
- 1:13:44honestly don't know what to do. I love him and this is so out of
- 1:13:46left field and now everyone is acting like I'm blowing this out
- 1:13:49of proportion and being dramatic.
- 1:13:51Part of me wonders if I am but another part of me feels like my
- 1:13:54trust is completely broken. Am I overreacting?
- 1:13:58No, absolutely not. That was your warning, girl.
- 1:14:01You know how they always give you a nice little warning before
- 1:14:04you're about to jump into something?
- 1:14:05That's horrible. Run.
- 1:14:07Yeah. Because it's not just him, It's
- 1:14:09the whole family. Because you're not marrying him,
- 1:14:11you're marrying the family. I hate when the families are
- 1:14:14like that. You know, you're like, I'm
- 1:14:15taking everyone with him. It's like, I didn't like you.
- 1:14:18I like him, I like him. So now you come.
- 1:14:22It's a package deal. Terrible.
- 1:14:24But then also they're. Warning you what might happen
- 1:14:26if. This relationship won't work.
- 1:14:27You'll become old girl, ostracized and demonized and
- 1:14:31being like especially if you have.
- 1:14:32Children. Oh my God, don't do it.
- 1:14:35Run. Yeah.
- 1:14:36Red flags, Red flags. 11 months, 11 months.
- 1:14:39And the fact that they all got together and planned.
- 1:14:41This plan this. So every time I come around,
- 1:14:45they're like, OK, you mentioned that Tech is unstable.
- 1:14:47You mentioned that he might get laid off.
- 1:14:49Like what? Like it's a game that's really
- 1:14:53scary. It's giving what is it, Knives
- 1:14:56Out? Oh yeah.
- 1:14:58I feel like they're this rich family and.
- 1:15:00She's just like there and she needs to run.
- 1:15:02Now it's like this is going to get even worse even.
- 1:15:06Worse, most girls would have handled this terribly.
- 1:15:09OK, well I'm about to be most girls.
- 1:15:10I'm about to be blowing this up. What do you mean?
- 1:15:14Oh, seriously? And the fact that.
- 1:15:17Like let's say let's say the husband cheats, right?
- 1:15:20And she leaves. She's.
- 1:15:21Still going to be demonized because they're still going to
- 1:15:23look at him like the, you know, the sun shines out his ass and
- 1:15:26and she was a gold digger for even being with him.
- 1:15:29It's like, you know, there's no winds here.
- 1:15:31There's no winds. And also that's what happens
- 1:15:33unless you got a prenup. Oh boy, if that was an option
- 1:15:38you should have done that. Looks like he didn't so she took
- 1:15:42half, right? Exactly.
- 1:15:43That's what happens when you get a divorce.
- 1:15:45Like I don't know, if you didn't want that, then maybe put in
- 1:15:49some things in place that are there to help you.
- 1:15:51Exactly. If you have a problem but it's
- 1:15:53her fault, yes. So like I said, I have an
- 1:15:57update. All right so this happened a
- 1:15:59couple days ago. I'm still staying with my fiance
- 1:16:02right now but things are tense and I feel anxious pretty much
- 1:16:05all the time. He knows I'm upset and needs
- 1:16:07space so he hasn't tried to talk to me about it since.
- 1:16:10He knows I'm considering calling off the engagement, which I
- 1:16:13which is why I think he's been so sensitive around me the last
- 1:16:16few days. He hasn't been acting like it's
- 1:16:18a positive thing anymore and seems pretty remorseful since I
- 1:16:21told him how much it hurt me. This morning I asked him if he
- 1:16:24knew about it the whole time and he told me that his parents
- 1:16:27started making the comments without his knowledge and after
- 1:16:30he overheard a comment they made to me while over at his parents
- 1:16:33house. He asked them privately why they
- 1:16:35said that and they explained they were testing me.
- 1:16:37He decided to let them continue just to see what I would do.
- 1:16:44From past interactions with his parents, I also know he has a
- 1:16:47hard time standing up to them or disagreeing with them, so it is
- 1:16:51honest. So it honestly makes sense that
- 1:16:52he didn't call them out and just started going along with it.
- 1:16:56They told him that they were offended when I suggested an
- 1:16:59expensive resort for the honeymoon and made a comment
- 1:17:02insinuating that his parents would be paying for it.
- 1:17:05They got it in their head that I was just expecting them to
- 1:17:08shoulder the cost of an expensive resort without
- 1:17:10question, which isn't true. I happily accepted a more modest
- 1:17:13option when they suggested because I didn't want to seem
- 1:17:17pushy or entitled. Plus typically the groom's
- 1:17:20family plays pays for the honeymoon, so I didn't know they
- 1:17:23were offended by that. Maybe I really did come off as
- 1:17:26entitled, but that was honestly never my intention.
- 1:17:29Regardless, I don't think that justifies testing me like this
- 1:17:32for 11 months. He does not.
- 1:17:34He wasn't the mastermind, but he never.
- 1:17:36Stopped them and didn't see. Why it was wrong or manipulative
- 1:17:39until I told him how upset I was.
- 1:17:41A part of me wonders if he was manipulated by his parents to
- 1:17:44think this was acceptable. I'm torn between calling it off
- 1:17:48or having a conversation with him and asking him to go to
- 1:17:51couples counselling and set boundaries with his parents.
- 1:17:54I don't know. I don't know what I'm hearing,
- 1:17:57the whole. Time is that he is not going to
- 1:17:59defend you ever, ever, ever. He will have his family's back.
- 1:18:04Or do whatever they tell him to. Do yes, you are on your own.
- 1:18:08Yes, exactly. I don't think that's a safe
- 1:18:10situation for you. Because you're just getting
- 1:18:13started. Were they?
- 1:18:13Early 20s, Yeah, no. Like 20 years in, you still
- 1:18:18going to be in the background to whatever his parents want
- 1:18:21exactly because they're going to tell him and he's going to do.
- 1:18:23And if he's that easily manipulated to not realize that
- 1:18:26something bad is something good or backwards or something good
- 1:18:30something bad, then this is never going to.
- 1:18:33It's no, and you're not going to be comfortable or safe or.
- 1:18:38Yeah, you're gonna have to be fighting the entire time you're
- 1:18:40in this. Family, I don't think that's.
- 1:18:42Good. So no, this is your chance to
- 1:18:44leave. Yeah.
- 1:18:44You're not married yet. Yeah.
- 1:18:46You don't have kids. You can have a clean break.
- 1:18:49Run. Now that's horrible, I know.
- 1:18:52He is, but at least we got an update finally.
- 1:18:54I know updates, I love Reddit. Me too.
- 1:19:00It's. Wild.
- 1:19:01All right, so in case y'all didn't know we.
- 1:19:04Offer story submissions on the show, so if you're watching on
- 1:19:08YouTube, go to the description, but if you're listening to us,
- 1:19:10go to rtgems.com. But someone submitted a story
- 1:19:14submission and it wasn't like like a Reddit thing or anything.
- 1:19:19I think he was just confessing but I wanted to read it
- 1:19:21completely anonymous but I thought it was interesting.
- 1:19:24I haven't read it yet. It was titled Chasing Warmth
- 1:19:30which was very poetic. It says I am a 30.
- 1:19:34Five year old man who has been living.
- 1:19:36Out of his car since August 16th, 2025.
- 1:19:40It wasn't an impulse decision. It was a decision for peace.
- 1:19:44I was living in a house that didn't feel like home.
- 1:19:47I barely had access to the kitchen.
- 1:19:49Using the bathroom felt like it could spark an argument.
- 1:19:52The environment was tense, unpredictable, and at times
- 1:19:55unsafe. My mother has a history of
- 1:19:58extreme behavior, including once searching the house for a gun
- 1:20:01over something as small as grease left on the stove.
- 1:20:04That's just one example. I was working making 1990 an.
- 1:20:09Hour paying rent. And a car note trying to
- 1:20:11survive. There was no support for my
- 1:20:13family. Not emotionally, not
- 1:20:15financially. I've always had to stand on my
- 1:20:17own. While my older brothers are
- 1:20:19treated like gold. I've often felt like the
- 1:20:21outsider. They have families and children.
- 1:20:24I have none. All I've ever wanted was simple,
- 1:20:27go to work, go to the gym, and live in peace.
- 1:20:30So I left. Since then, I've spent
- 1:20:33Thanksgiving and Christmas in my car.
- 1:20:35On Thanksgiving morning, a police officer knocked on my
- 1:20:37window because he thought I was dead.
- 1:20:39Damn, I know. Open the window.
- 1:20:43Right. Meanwhile, my family.
- 1:20:46Gathered for. Holiday dinners without.
- 1:20:48Even checking on me. But that's what I've learned.
- 1:20:51Winter weather. May be cold, but.
- 1:20:53Nothing is colder than living in a house where you are not
- 1:20:55wanted. Today I work as a phlebotomist
- 1:20:59for the Red Cross. I'm rebuilding, I'm stable, I'm
- 1:21:02surviving, and more than that, I'm choosing peace over chaos.
- 1:21:06Sometimes walking away isn't failure.
- 1:21:08Sometimes it's freedom. Oh my goodness, I think that's a
- 1:21:12great. Submission, thank you so much
- 1:21:15for. Feeling comfortable enough to
- 1:21:16submit that to us. Yes.
- 1:21:19Wow, that's beautiful. I honestly agree because a lot
- 1:21:22of the Reddits that we read are people having to come to
- 1:21:27strangers because their family, their blood is treating them
- 1:21:31horribly and they're wondering and they're conflicted because
- 1:21:34they're like, this person is my family.
- 1:21:36I should feel safe with them. I should feel yadda yadda,
- 1:21:40yadda. But that word, that family word
- 1:21:43seems to be ruining people. You know what I mean?
- 1:21:46So I think like found family or choosing yourself, yourself
- 1:21:49sometimes it's so important. So well said.
- 1:21:52Yeah, very well said. Because you have to.
- 1:21:55Choose yourself all at at all times.
- 1:21:58And if there's something else that's making it so choosing
- 1:22:01yourself feels bad, you feel guilty.
- 1:22:04You know, it's a lot of gaslighting going on out there,
- 1:22:08which we noticed with these Reddit posts.
- 1:22:10But for you to be like, I'd rather sleep on the on the
- 1:22:13street. I'd rather be in my car than
- 1:22:16have to deal with this in a warm home, that speaks volumes,
- 1:22:21volumes. And yes, thank you so much for
- 1:22:24sharing that with us. And I am wishing nothing but the
- 1:22:27best for you because wow. Yeah, thank you again.
- 1:22:32We appreciate you. And thank you everybody for
- 1:22:35watching. We love y'all we'll.
- 1:22:37See you next week.
