- 0:01Speaker 1: Big 98.7.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Is there a social media that you are obsessed with
- 0:07Speaker 2: right now? A social media account or someone? As Megan
- 0:10Speaker 2: has put Angie and I on to quite possibly the
- 0:13Speaker 2: two greatest things I've ever seen on Instagram. I can't
- 0:17Speaker 2: stop looking at this Zillow Gone Wild.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I can't believe that you weren't on it before.
- 0:22Speaker 4: My girlfriends and I have been on this for years now,
- 0:25Speaker 4: and it's fantastic.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Well, it's funny.
- 0:27Speaker 2: So I'm the type of person who will be on
- 0:29Speaker 2: Zillow or on Zillow Gone Wild now and looking at
- 0:32Speaker 2: a house worth $ 13 million. And then I go, you know,
- 0:36Speaker 2: I really don't like the windows there.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yeah, there's something.
- 0:39Speaker 4: You're like, no.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Those cupboards aren't doing it for me.
- 0:42Speaker 5: It's really easy to judge and judge. I mean, what
- 0:45Speaker 5: a godsend you are, Megan, because this.
- 0:47Speaker 6: Zillow gone wild.
- 0:49Speaker 5: What a fun account because it'll be like super expensive
- 0:52Speaker 5: houses with weird stuff on it or cheapy.
- 0:54Speaker 6: Houses with cool stuff in it.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Like I highly recommend.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Or cheap houses that they say it's dangerous to walk into.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 1:02Speaker 3: And the best is when you're all of a sudden
- 1:04Speaker 3: you're like, oh, that one's from Minnesota. Oh, that one's
- 1:06Speaker 3: from North Dakota. Like, oh, wait, I got to go
- 1:08Speaker 3: look this out. Yeah, it's awesome.
- 1:09Speaker 1: So that one is Zillow Gone Wild. Do yourself a favor.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Go ahead and follow that on Instagram this morning and
- 1:16Speaker 2: enjoy not doing anything the rest of the day.
- 1:17Speaker 3: You won't be disappointed.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's like potato chips. They all look the same, but
- 1:21Speaker 2: you can't stop scrolling.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it's endless scrolling fun. So don't do work today
- 1:26Speaker 5: on a Tuesday. There is one that I shared with
- 1:29Speaker 5: Megan because she was going to give me a gem.
- 1:32Speaker 6: I wanted to give her a gem.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And it's... Hot dudes reading. Oh, God.
- 1:37Speaker 1: The last 20 minutes in here. Sweet Lord.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Seriously, this is amazing. And some of these are not
- 1:44Speaker 3: safe for work captions. That's all I can say.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Oh, go ahead.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Can you give us one?
- 1:48Speaker 3: Oh, no, no. There's something about a lightning bolt. Let's
- 1:51Speaker 3: just leave it at that. Oh, I like that. Zeus
- 1:54Speaker 3: lightning bolt. That's all I'm going to say. Go read
- 1:57Speaker 3: and look.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 1: What is that one called?
- 2:00Speaker 3: Hot dudes reading. And it's hot.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Because I love reading, and then you put a hot
- 2:05Speaker 4: guy with a book. Like, whew, I'm, you know, a
- 2:08Speaker 4: little flustered over here.
- 2:10Speaker 6: We stay on an educated man.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and ruin that for you.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I'm going to sign up for that today. I'm going
- 2:16Speaker 2: to send him a photo.
- 2:17Speaker 1: What would you be reading? I don't know.
- 2:20Speaker 6: A soup can?
- 2:21Speaker 1: There's got to be, like, a People's Magazine around here somewhere.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Oh, jeez.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Would a magazine count?
- 2:26Speaker 3: With the sexiest man alive on it.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:29Speaker 6: That would be the.
- 2:30Speaker 5: I think a magazine counts if you're like extra hot.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Like I feel like.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Oh, easy. Agreed.
- 2:36Speaker 3: The more.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Easy.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Settle down over there.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I'll put on my, they're not even reading glasses, my
- 2:44Speaker 2: blue light glasses and get to reading.
- 2:46Speaker 3: You know what?
- 2:47Speaker 6: I do think you look good in those blue light glasses.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I appreciate it.
- 2:49Speaker 6: So these are two.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Social media accounts you can follow on Instagram right now
- 2:53Speaker 5: for your scrolling pleasure. Hot Dudes Reading and Zillow Gone Wild.
- 2:58Speaker 5: And if you want to share one with us, let
- 3:00Speaker 5: us know. 701-280-1987.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, share with the class here and how we can
- 3:04Speaker 2: get less done today at 701-280-1987.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Celebrating life's little victories. Every morning we practice gratitude on
- 3:18Speaker 1: Big 98.7. If I could, I would keep this feeling
- 3:21Speaker 1: in a plastic jar. Bust it out whenever someone's acting hard.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Share your little victories with us at 701-280-1987. Kids, I
- 3:28Speaker 1: also needed a win that day. Megan, do you have
- 3:34Speaker 1: a little victory for us?
- 3:35Speaker 4: You know, you guys are going to find out like
- 3:37Speaker 4: I'm going to nerd out for a second because one
- 3:39Speaker 4: of my favorite things to do is read. And my
- 3:42Speaker 4: girlfriends from college and I, since like COVID, we have
- 3:46Speaker 4: started a Zoom book club because we're all over the country.
- 3:49Speaker 4: And last night was book club and we got to
- 3:51Speaker 4: nerd out, but it's always so much fun to also
- 3:54Speaker 4: just catch up with the girls, my old roommates from college.
- 3:56Speaker 3: And we had that last night. And now also your
- 4:00Speaker 3: girl gets to pick the next book. And now I
- 4:02Speaker 3: need some help with that. Oh.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'd recommend Harry Potter 1.
- 4:08Speaker 6: Oh my gosh.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Okay, books we haven't read are highly recommended. So yeah,
- 4:12Speaker 4: you might not be able to help, but thank you.
- 4:14Speaker 4: But either way, it's just fun to like catch up
- 4:16Speaker 4: with the girlfriends.
- 4:17Speaker 6: I love that.
- 4:18Speaker 5: And I love that you still are doing the book
- 4:20Speaker 5: club because a lot of.
- 4:21Speaker 6: Things that started in COVID have fizzled out. So I'm
- 4:24Speaker 6: glad that that... That hasn't.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Oh, we're like the girls that still read the books.
- 4:28Speaker 3: We do the trips together. We went to port.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Those were the girls that I went to Portugal with
- 4:32Speaker 4: last month. So yeah, like we do all the things.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Okay.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Do you actually read those books or is it just
- 4:38Speaker 2: a wine club where you talk about a book?
- 4:40Speaker 5: No, actually that's if I were running it.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I mean, there might be drinks had, but we very.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Much get into discussion of the book and we even
- 4:50Speaker 4: rate it every single time when we get done.
- 4:52Speaker 5: If you have a book recommendation for Megan so that
- 4:55Speaker 5: she can share with the class.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 5:00Speaker 6: 701-280-1987.
- 5:01Speaker 5: She gets to pick the book club book. So good
- 5:03Speaker 5: recommendations only.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Are any of you Bob Dylan fans? Yeah, there's a
- 5:09Speaker 1: couple Bob Dylan bands in there. All right, Chronicles of
- 5:10Speaker 1: Bob Dylan, great book.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Good to know.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That is a good.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Book, actually.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I think it's good to know that you read. That's
- 5:16Speaker 3: the win right there.
- 5:17Speaker 2: The Life, Keith Richards, great book. Scar Tissue, Anthony Kiedis,
- 5:21Speaker 2: great book.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Interesting reads over there.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Look at that, there's three right off the top.
- 5:25Speaker 5: I didn't know that there was more than Harry Potter
- 5:27Speaker 5: in your repertoire, so that's great.
- 5:30Speaker 3: All right, Angie, what's your little win?
- 5:32Speaker 5: I'm very excited that my anti-mode has been activated. So yesterday,
- 5:39Speaker 5: Gabe and I went to Casa Mexico, as we do
- 5:42Speaker 5: every Monday, but we had a special guest with us,
- 5:45Speaker 5: and it was.
- 5:46Speaker 6: His baby girl. Kaylee, oh my gosh, she's so cute.
- 5:50Speaker 6: I just want to squeeze her.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Anyway, I got to feed her yesterday and make her
- 5:55Speaker 5: laugh and giggle.
- 5:56Speaker 6: She's obsessed with me. I'm obsessed with her.
- 5:58Speaker 5: I'm going to tell Mikey, reverse the vasectomy because now
- 6:01Speaker 5: I got baby fever.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Oh, here we go.
- 6:04Speaker 5: But yes, it was just such a delight to spend
- 6:06Speaker 5: time with baby G.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Or Kaylee. She already got nicknames. Oh, my gosh. She's
- 6:12Speaker 6: just the sweetest thing on the planet.
- 6:13Speaker 3: So cute.
- 6:14Speaker 6: You made her. You and your wife made the cutest
- 6:17Speaker 6: baby in the land.
- 6:18Speaker 2: She is very adorable, which is pretty nice. My little
- 6:22Speaker 2: victory is on Kaylee's first day of daycare. We talked
- 6:26Speaker 2: a little bit about her first day being yesterday.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 2: She made her dad proud and slept through the entire class.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Good job, little girl.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Good job.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Sounds exactly like dad in 11th grade math class. She
- 6:39Speaker 2: got there at 8. They got to do a bunch
- 6:42Speaker 2: of check-in stuff for day one. And then at about nine,
- 6:45Speaker 2: she got a diaper change, had a bottle, and then
- 6:48Speaker 2: went to sleep at 9.15. And I know this because
- 6:51Speaker 2: the daycare gives us text updates.
- 6:53Speaker 6: I love that.
- 6:54Speaker 2: And she slept from 9.15 to about 11 when I
- 6:57Speaker 2: busted her out of class early for her first day.
- 7:00Speaker 1: That's beautiful.
- 7:01Speaker 3: She needed to hang with Auntie Angie.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I know.
- 7:03Speaker 6: That's right.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Very proud dad moment of taking my kid out of
- 7:06Speaker 2: school early on her very first day.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Big 98.7.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Well, like every parent before me has gone through, we
- 7:18Speaker 2: had to drop off our daughter.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And by we, I mean, I was obviously here.
- 7:21Speaker 2: But Corey dropped off Kaylee for her first day of
- 7:27Speaker 2: daycare yesterday.
- 7:28Speaker 3: How did Corey do?
- 7:30Speaker 1: Devastating. She was pretty sad about it. But, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 1: she's got to go. It's good. It's good for her.
- 7:36Speaker 1: That's one thing you always have to remember.
- 7:38Speaker 2: It's good for Kaylee to go to daycare and have
- 7:40Speaker 2: that socialization.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And just be around other kids.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Now, she's not even three months old, so I don't
- 7:47Speaker 2: think she knows what other kids are.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Not yet.
- 7:50Speaker 1: But it's good for her.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it'll be fine.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I don't know who you're trying to convince right now.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, it was super nice when we went to
- 8:00Speaker 2: Casa Mexico. I busted Kaylee out of daycare a little early.
- 8:04Speaker 2: On her first day. On her first day. And she
- 8:07Speaker 2: went with us to Casa Mexico. And it was just
- 8:11Speaker 2: kind of cool walking in there and seeing all these
- 8:14Speaker 2: other kids just having a ton of fun. And then
- 8:16Speaker 2: you think, oh, that's going to be my kid one day.
- 8:18Speaker 2: It was a very parenting moment. But it was also
- 8:22Speaker 2: really nice. There was a lot of people on the
- 8:23Speaker 2: Casa Mexico tour. or excuse me, on our video at
- 8:27Speaker 2: Casa Mexico saying they know how tough it is when
- 8:30Speaker 2: you bring the kid to daycare the first day. There
- 8:33Speaker 2: was daycare providers on there going, we know it's super hard.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And it was just an interesting day for Corey. When
- 8:39Speaker 2: she got home, she was pretty glad to see baby G.
- 8:43Speaker 5: You know what I love, though, is because I rode
- 8:44Speaker 5: with you to go pick up Kaylee first before we
- 8:46Speaker 5: went to Casa. And when she got into the car,
- 8:51Speaker 5: you realize that Where'd.
- 8:53Speaker 6: These socks go?
- 8:54Speaker 5: She had socks on this.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Morning, so get prepared for that.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Because babies will kick off their socks wherever, and then
- 9:01Speaker 5: you might never find them again.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. She jumped in the car. I literally
- 9:04Speaker 1: looked at Angie.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I was like, you know, it's kind of chilly out.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I'm pretty positive she had socks on at one point today.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I would guess, yeah. Yeah, and they were just gone.
- 9:13Speaker 2: And so I wanted to know this morning, any other
- 9:16Speaker 2: parents who either have recently or coming up have to
- 9:20Speaker 2: drop the kiddos off at daycare? How long did it
- 9:24Speaker 2: take for it to kind of feel normal for you?
- 9:26Speaker 2: I mean, I've been going to work for the past
- 9:28Speaker 2: two and a half months. So for me, it's pretty
- 9:30Speaker 2: normal to be gone all day. Corey has not had
- 9:33Speaker 2: to do eight hours away from Kaylee ever before.
- 9:36Speaker 6: So this was also Corey's first day of work.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That's right. Oh, wow.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 3: And how did that go?
- 9:43Speaker 2: I think it was pretty good. I know she's, like,
- 9:46Speaker 2: pumping at work, which is kind of an interesting thing
- 9:49Speaker 2: for her to navigate.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 2: But also not too hard. I mean, she works for
- 9:53Speaker 2: a health clinic here in the FM area.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 3: So they probably have a space for that. Like, here's
- 9:57Speaker 3: a room for you.
- 9:58Speaker 1: They're pretty understandable. Yeah, seriously.
- 10:00Speaker 2: It was kind of it was really fun when I
- 10:02Speaker 2: got home that because it was just dad and Kaylee
- 10:05Speaker 2: time for like three and a half, four hours.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Uh, which was very sweet.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And we made it. We only had one little fussy
- 10:11Speaker 2: moment with dad yesterday. Thank goodness. I didn't, I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 2: I was in the trenches a little bit, but not
- 10:16Speaker 2: too bad.
- 10:17Speaker 3: That's what you deserve, Gabe. You do deserve that.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So if you, uh, you know, have dropped off a
- 10:22Speaker 2: kid at daycare the first time, or you're about to, uh,
- 10:26Speaker 2: how long did it take for you to kind of
- 10:27Speaker 2: get used to that? Let us know this morning at
- 10:29Speaker 2: 7 0 1 2 8 0 1 9 8 7.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And by let us know, I really just mean, let
- 10:33Speaker 2: me know, uh, A thousand percent. So I can pass
- 10:37Speaker 2: that information along to my wife, Corey.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Drop it, drop it.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Big 98.7.
- 10:41Speaker 1: For some people, these stories are going to be painful, a.k.a.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Me. And for Angie, she'll probably take some pleasure out
- 10:48Speaker 2: of these. We have got two-sentence horror stories for you
- 10:52Speaker 2: this morning.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Oh, boy. On Big 98.7 Halloween, right around the corner.
- 10:57Speaker 6: We love a spooky season.
- 10:59Speaker 5: And if you have a two-sentence horror story you'd like
- 11:03Speaker 5: to share with.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Us, Let us know at 701-280-1987.
- 11:06Speaker 5: I want to say thank you for obliging and writing
- 11:14Speaker 5: your two sentence horror stories.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Gabe, I want to hear yours first.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And Megan, you're not a fan, right? Of like scary? No,
- 11:22Speaker 1: not at all.
- 11:22Speaker 3: I'm a chicken straight up. That's why I feel like
- 11:24Speaker 3: Megan's is going to be really good.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Or to be super sweet.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll see.
- 11:29Speaker 5: All right.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I got one for you.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I finally got the baby to sleep and tiptoed out
- 11:35Speaker 2: of the nursery, relieved. Over the monitor, I heard a
- 11:39Speaker 2: second voice start humming the lullaby.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Back to her.
- 11:42Speaker 5: No!
- 11:44Speaker 6: Oh, that is scary.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Very scary. Very creepy.
- 11:46Speaker 6: You did a good job.
- 11:47Speaker 1: With that one. Thank you. Wow.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Oh, you guys are actually going scary, scary. Mine's just funny.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I thought this.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Was going to happen.
- 11:55Speaker 6: All right, hit us with it, Megan. What's your two-sentence
- 11:58Speaker 6: horror story?
- 11:59Speaker 4: I went to bed feeling like I was 25. I
- 12:02Speaker 4: woke up with a neck injury from sleeping.
- 12:04Speaker 1: This is terrifying. Terrifying. That is actually worse.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I can't move my neck, okay? This is a horror story.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I am living right now. I love that. Thank you.
- 12:17Speaker 3: All right, this one's mine.
- 12:18Speaker 6: My two sentence horror story. She came home to her
- 12:22Speaker 6: husband waiting for her in the kitchen. He died four
- 12:25Speaker 6: years ago.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Oh, geez.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Nope.
- 12:28Speaker 3: See, you went scary.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 6: I love spooky season.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I think Megan understood the assignment. 701-280-1987. Do you have,
- 12:38Speaker 2: it could even be three sentences. We'd give you three,
- 12:41Speaker 2: but give us a two sentence horror story this morning
- 12:45Speaker 2: here on Big 98.7. Yeah. I know, like, another version
- 12:49Speaker 2: of that could be, this morning I woke up on
- 12:51Speaker 2: a beautiful Saturday, and then my kids started saying, Mom.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Drop it, drop it.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Big 98.7. In the world of rules and gray areas,
- 13:01Speaker 1: one morning show dares to ask the hard questions. We
- 13:03Speaker 1: both know you're guilty.
- 13:05Speaker 6: He's guilty.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Is it legal?
- 13:07Speaker 3: You're guilty of the worst crime of all.
- 13:10Speaker 1: On Big 98.7.
- 13:14Speaker 2: All right, if you're thinking about going trick-or-treating this year, Angie,
- 13:17Speaker 2: and you're a full.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:20Speaker 3: That look was priceless.
- 13:22Speaker 6: That's judgment, my guy, the judgment.
- 13:24Speaker 2: If you're thinking about going trick-or-treating this year and you're
- 13:27Speaker 2: a full-grown adult with a monthly rent you got to
- 13:30Speaker 2: pay or a mortgage, I have found out, is it
- 13:33Speaker 2: legal for you to do so? In the FM area,
- 13:37Speaker 2: I have great news. It is completely legal for Angie
- 13:40Speaker 2: to go trick-or-treating this year.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Why is he targeted at me?
- 13:44Speaker 4: He acts like he's not the one who wants to
- 13:46Speaker 4: go out and get the candy right now. Like, I
- 13:48Speaker 4: don't understand what's going on.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I actually would have the opposite problem. I've been sitting
- 13:52Speaker 2: here going, wait, can my two-month-old or three-month-old go trick-or-treating?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Yes. She can't eat any of those things.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that's the parent loophole.
- 13:59Speaker 6: You bring the newborn and you eat.
- 14:01Speaker 3: All the candy yourself. Great.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Well, neither Fargo, Moorhead or Horace, Megan, which I looked
- 14:07Speaker 2: up for you as well, appreciate it, has a law
- 14:09Speaker 2: that says.
- 14:09Speaker 1: You have to be a kid. There's no age limit.
- 14:11Speaker 2: There's no you must be this short to ring the
- 14:14Speaker 2: doorbell sign. The city has spoken and the city does
- 14:17Speaker 2: not care now legally and socially acceptable.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Are two different things.
- 14:22Speaker 2: If you're 35 and you're holding a pillowcase ready for
- 14:25Speaker 2: that candy, you better have a really good Halloween costume.
- 14:28Speaker 6: That part. You have to be in full costume.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Tired adult does not count.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Oh, so just putting it, slapping a name tag on.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it does not count.
- 14:38Speaker 2: And when you're an adult, just go to a Halloween
- 14:40Speaker 2: party or go to a Halloween bar where the candy
- 14:43Speaker 2: is adult beverages that you pay for.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Just do that.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Well, that sounds like a trick and not a treat.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 3: That's right.
- 14:51Speaker 1: But I'll tell you what, it makes for a heck
- 14:52Speaker 1: of an evening, all right? So there we go.
- 14:54Speaker 2: If you're an adult, you can go trick-or-treating in the
- 14:57Speaker 2: FM area or Horace.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Perfect. I guess the only thing they could do is
- 15:01Speaker 1: not give you the candy, right?
- 15:02Speaker 4: Right.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, they can turn you away.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Well, people should be giving out those mini bottles of alcohol.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Okay, that is my favorite.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I have gone trick-or-treating with, like, my niece before down
- 15:13Speaker 4: in the cities.
- 15:14Speaker 3: In the neighborhood, they would have, like, oh, would you like,
- 15:16Speaker 3: here's the kids' table. Here's the adult table.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Every year I hand out beer to whoever wants one
- 15:24Speaker 2: that's obviously an adult. So if you are trick-or-treating at
- 15:28Speaker 2: my house this year, there will likely be an adult
- 15:31Speaker 2: beverage waiting for you. And the kids, of course, they
- 15:34Speaker 2: only get the candy. I'm not a monster.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Okay, good.
- 15:36Speaker 1: That's good.
- 15:37Speaker 4: All right.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Drop it, drop it.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Big 98.7.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Do you have a house divided?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Does your hubby cheer for one team, you cheer for
- 15:51Speaker 2: another team? I found this survey online where there are
- 15:55Speaker 2: some adults. who their significant other does not cheer for
- 15:58Speaker 2: the same football team. And they admit to not only
- 16:02Speaker 2: a not rooting for them, but actively rooting for them
- 16:06Speaker 2: to lose.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, that's exactly how I would be.
- 16:10Speaker 2: So it's not even they're just like quiet during the game.
- 16:12Speaker 2: It's they're hoping they perform poorly.
- 16:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I feel like that's.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Fair, especially depending on who the team is.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Right.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Because if I was.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Sorry, I couldn't. It's a deal breaker. If you're a
- 16:24Speaker 3: Green Bay Packers fan, not happening.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Oh, that's tough.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Like, I couldn't do it. It'd be hard for me. Like,
- 16:28Speaker 3: so hard.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I get that.
- 16:30Speaker 6: You and your wife, you're not a house divided.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I cheer for the Vikes, and Corey cheers for her.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Two thirty nap. OK, that's about how that goes.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I have tried. I have tried.
- 16:44Speaker 2: And she would much rather they play well because I'm
- 16:47Speaker 2: in a lot better mood.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 16:49Speaker 2: But she couldn't care less. So I guess if she
- 16:51Speaker 2: had to pick, she'd be a Vikings fan. Now, my daughter,
- 16:53Speaker 2: on the other hand. She doesn't really get a choice.
- 16:56Speaker 2: She has to suffer through a life of misery just
- 16:58Speaker 2: like I do.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You're right.
- 17:00Speaker 3: She's a smart girl already, though.
- 17:01Speaker 1: That's right.
- 17:01Speaker 3: She's a Vikings fan.
- 17:02Speaker 1: We love that. That's right.
- 17:03Speaker 6: In our house, we're divided, but not terribly.
- 17:07Speaker 5: So I'm an Eagles fan, and Mikey, he's from Detroit,
- 17:10Speaker 5: so he's a Lions fan. And so unless the Lions
- 17:14Speaker 5: and the Eagles are playing against each other, obviously I
- 17:17Speaker 5: will root for the Eagles at that point. But if
- 17:19Speaker 5: the Lions are playing literally anybody else, I root for
- 17:22Speaker 5: the Lions because who cares?
- 17:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:24Speaker 4: So has anybody ever told her how much most Vikings
- 17:27Speaker 4: fans don't like the Eagles?
- 17:29Speaker 3: Has anyone brought that up to you around here at all?
- 17:32Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 5: No, they have.
- 17:33Speaker 3: And the thing is... I love you.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I understand, like....
- 17:39Speaker 5: The fandom for the Eagles, because back in the day,
- 17:42Speaker 5: I married into the Eagles fandom.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:46Speaker 5: But I made a promise to the Eagles that if
- 17:48Speaker 5: my marriage doesn't work out, which it didn't, I would
- 17:51Speaker 5: stay true to the Eagles.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Good for you.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Yes. But the Eagles fandom, because I've been to a
- 17:58Speaker 5: couple Eagles games.
- 18:01Speaker 3: They're terrible people. They're scary.
- 18:03Speaker 5: And I don't identify with those behaviors.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Okay.
- 18:09Speaker 3: This is why I am okay with what you are
- 18:13Speaker 3: here for.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Because I know it's not great. However, there's somebody in
- 18:16Speaker 5: this building who's a Cowboys fan, and I think the
- 18:18Speaker 5: Cowboys are the worst team of all time.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I give her a true ego fan.
- 18:21Speaker 6: With the worst fans of all time.
- 18:23Speaker 5: And much how Packers would be a deal-breaker for you,
- 18:27Speaker 5: I could not be with someone who's a Cowboys fan.
- 18:29Speaker 3: That's just too much.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that is fair.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I think it's kind of interesting because you're not like
- 18:34Speaker 2: a house divided. If the Detroit Lions are on and
- 18:36Speaker 2: the Eagles aren't playing, you do cheer for them.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Yeah, the only time we're divided is if we're playing
- 18:42Speaker 5: against each other. And honestly, back in the day, I
- 18:44Speaker 5: saw the Eagles lose to the Lions in Philadelphia. Oh,
- 18:48Speaker 5: that hurts.
- 18:50Speaker 3: That hurts.
- 18:51Speaker 5: And I didn't know that that was going to like
- 18:53Speaker 5: the foreshadowing is that eventually I'd be with a Lions fan.
- 18:57Speaker 5: And so when the matchup comes up again, I will
- 19:00Speaker 5: have to hate him.
- 19:01Speaker 1: And back in the day, the Lions stunk. So that's
- 19:04Speaker 1: a terrible loss.
- 19:05Speaker 6: I know, I know.
- 19:07Speaker 1: That's a terrible loss.
- 19:08Speaker 2: We did put this on Facebook as well. And you
- 19:10Speaker 2: can give us a call 701-280-1987 or text us. Do
- 19:14Speaker 2: you have a house divided? And it's interesting you bring
- 19:17Speaker 2: up Green Bay again. There's probably a lot of that
- 19:19Speaker 2: in the FM area with Packers fans and Vikings fans.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Aaron says, I go to go with Green Bay and
- 19:26Speaker 2: my wife is a Vikings girl.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Amazingly, we still make it work.
- 19:30Speaker 3: You know, here's the thing.
- 19:32Speaker 4: I do have some friends who are Green Bay Packers
- 19:33Speaker 4: fans and we're still friends. So there is that means
- 19:36Speaker 4: that maybe you're not a terrible Green Bay fan.
- 19:38Speaker 3: OK, OK.
- 19:39Speaker 1: A dime a dozen, right?
- 19:41Speaker 4: I can't get over how many fans on here for
- 19:44Speaker 4: House Divided are Vikings and 49ers fans.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 19:48Speaker 3: There's a ton on here. Like, I keep looking. I'm like, oh,
- 19:51Speaker 3: there's another one. There's at least six that I count
- 19:53Speaker 3: right offhand.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes I wonder about that. I dealt with this
- 19:56Speaker 2: in Iowa a lot. Iowa does not have a professional
- 19:59Speaker 2: football team. Technically, North Dakota does not either. So, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 2: you don't maybe necessarily feel any like, oh, that's my state.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I got to cheer for them.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:08Speaker 2: You know, if you're in like middle or central or
- 20:10Speaker 2: western North Dakota, per se, you could cheer for just
- 20:13Speaker 2: about anyone like this Seahawks fan. She said it's a melody.
- 20:18Speaker 2: She said Vikings, me, 49ers husband. Excuse me. I'm trying
- 20:21Speaker 2: to find this Seahawks person. Anyway, there is someone cheering
- 20:24Speaker 2: for the Seahawks.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Who was that? Adria?
- 20:25Speaker 4: Adria.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, there we go.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Vikings for my husband, Seahawks for me. And I wonder how.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Where does the Seahawks come from?
- 20:32Speaker 4: That's great because all of our players from the Vikings
- 20:35Speaker 4: go on over to Seattle at some point or another.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that is true.
- 20:38Speaker 3: It's like a whole funnel right there.
- 20:40Speaker 1: That is very true.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I just really appreciate that people are making it work
- 20:45Speaker 5: even when their teams are against each other because I've
- 20:47Speaker 5: broken up with people for less.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Starting off the day with something good.
- 20:59Speaker 2: This is Gabe's Good News on Big 98.7.
- 21:04Speaker 1: This is a beautiful story.
- 21:06Speaker 2: On a quiet street in South Fargo, neighbors are doing
- 21:08Speaker 2: something simple that's making a big difference. Every other Thursday
- 21:12Speaker 2: in the summer, there were people who would pull up
- 21:14Speaker 2: a chair to Prakash Matthews driveway for something called driveway dialogue.
- 21:20Speaker 2: No small talk allowed. No politics either. Just real thoughtful
- 21:23Speaker 2: conversations about things like loving your neighbor and building trust.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Take a listen.
- 21:28Speaker 3: It's happening in our country right now.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I'm shocked what is going.
- 21:33Speaker 3: On and something is happening. When we're listening to what's
- 21:36Speaker 3: on people's hearts and minds and we're not contributing to
- 21:40Speaker 3: the noise, that's making a difference.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It all started with Prakash and his wife, Jane, chatting
- 21:45Speaker 2: with people walking by after dinner. Now the group is
- 21:49Speaker 2: moving indoors for November and December or coming up here
- 21:52Speaker 2: in November and December, and they'll take the winter off
- 21:54Speaker 2: and head back to the driveway. In the spring, as
- 21:57Speaker 2: Prakash puts it, here, my life is richer because of them.
- 22:01Speaker 1: What a sweet thing to say.
- 22:03Speaker 6: That's really sweet.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I love everything about that.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Like, put your phone down, stop doom-scrolling, enjoy time with
- 22:09Speaker 4: your neighbors, have actual meaningful conversation.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Like, oh, wow, it's like we're going back in time
- 22:14Speaker 3: a little bit. I love this.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's one of those.
- 22:16Speaker 2: It's exactly why I end the show with the same
- 22:19Speaker 2: thing every day. But, you know, when you're going through
- 22:21Speaker 2: your day and maybe it's not going great or you
- 22:23Speaker 2: just see a bunch of junk on Facebook social media
- 22:26Speaker 2: or in the news and you're like, does anything cool
- 22:28Speaker 2: or good happen during the day? Well, it's good to
- 22:30Speaker 2: know in Prakash's driveway, there's something very, very cool happening. So,
- 22:34Speaker 2: you know, my favorite quote, if you don't hear it
- 22:36Speaker 2: is the world is full of nice people. If you
- 22:37Speaker 2: can't find one, you got to be one and never
- 22:39Speaker 2: forget that broken crayons, they still color.
