Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? This is the part of the scary
- 0:11movie that really pisses me off. Welcome to What's your least
- 0:14favorite scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:17the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd, and all of our
- 0:20favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:22Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this fan
- 0:24base, even if we don't always get it.
- 0:26My name is Travis. My name is Jesse, and welcome
- 0:29back to another live, uncut and mostly undrawn bonus episode of
- 0:34To Be or Not To Be. This is our monthly bonus series
- 0:38where we find something on a free streaming service, talk
- 0:42about it, decide how we feel about it.
- 0:45It's brand new to us. So yeah, yeah, we're we're
- 0:48exploring. We're exploring together.
- 0:50That's our goal with this, yes. All right.
- 0:53So today we are talking. Oh, also, surprise, probably
- 0:57won't even have the schedule posted by the time we get this
- 1:00uploaded. Because you know what?
- 1:03September 1st was a Friday. And it's also the official start
- 1:06of Halloween. So we've just been kind of
- 1:09having a good weekend and vibing with that.
- 1:11And then every so often we'll be like, shit, we need to post the
- 1:13schedule. And then we realize that we
- 1:14haven't. Yeah, I keep forgetting, man.
- 1:16Like, I don't. I don't know.
- 1:17I feel like we crept into September and I didn't even
- 1:20fully register it and here we are.
- 1:22So haven't posted the schedule. Yeah, we have it all though.
- 1:25We know what we're gonna be doing.
- 1:26Yeah, we have the whole schedule already.
- 1:28We actually had it ready like a week early for once.
- 1:31But yeah, which is we haven't put it on the sports chat.
- 1:35Yeah, a. Lot of spooky stuff happening.
- 1:37Yeah. And that's why this is gonna be
- 1:39a surprise to me. Or not to be episode cuz we
- 1:42didn't even announce it on last week's main episode.
- 1:45Yeah, so yay, here we are. Yeah.
- 1:50And oh, did you have something you were going to announce?
- 1:52No, I was just going to say it was your pick.
- 1:54Oh, OK Yeah, it was my pick. And we watched the resort.
- 1:57Yeah. So that is a 2021, like a
- 2:01paranormal kind of movie. Kind of, Kind of, yeah.
- 2:06So I guess are we ready to just go straight into it?
- 2:09Yeah, I'm ready to go. Let's do it.
- 2:11Hey, this fucking movie The Resort was released July 12th,
- 2:172021. We watched it on TV, written and
- 2:21directed by Taylor Chin, music by John Sterry, and special
- 2:25effects makeup by George Troster, Graham Showfield and
- 2:29Sasha Glasser. OK starring Bianca Haas as Lex
- 2:34Brooke O'hearn as Brock, O'hearn as Chris.
- 2:38God, that dude. Of course his name is Brock.
- 2:41I feel like you. Like if you're named Brock, you
- 2:43have to either look like that or you have to be the Pokémon guy.
- 2:46Listen, if you don't recognize the name off the top of your
- 2:50head, he's one of my strong men. Daddy Torsten, Torsten.
- 2:56Torsten and the Righteous Jensen Season 2.
- 2:59Well, I almost spoiled something for that, for those who haven't
- 3:02seen it, but yeah, he's one of the buff boys from Kelvin's
- 3:05cult. Yeah, and you were like, Are you
- 3:08sure that's him? As if there's another long
- 3:11haired, bearded, 6 1/2 foot tall feud that we see regularly on
- 3:17our screens. Yeah, there's several.
- 3:19One of them, Jason Memo. Yeah, Jason Memo is going to be
- 3:23in this movie. Maybe, I don't know.
- 3:25Dave Sheridan's in this movie. That's true.
- 3:28Yeah. He plays the detective Michael
- 3:32Vlamis as Sam. And Michelle Randolph is Bree.
- 3:37All right, Travis, it's time for our favorite game.
- 3:40Now I'm not going to OK budget or bug dead.
- 3:45You had to do that on your own because you you said bud, bud.
- 3:51It's Bug Ted. Come on, man.
- 3:52This is super, super low budget. Yeah.
- 3:54It's one of those that I don't even have the budget for.
- 3:57Yeah, because it's so low. I mean, I'll give them credit.
- 4:00It looks pretty nice for a low budget movie, but it's pretty
- 4:03clearly Bug Ted opening box office of 88,000 and a worldwide
- 4:09gross of 208,000. OK, that's not too bad.
- 4:13IMDb score of 3.1. Ooh boy man.
- 4:17Yeah, it's down there. I picked three other movies from
- 4:212021. They're all movies that we
- 4:24haven't seen yet. Oh, OK.
- 4:27So the first one is dashcam. I want to watch that, I was
- 4:31gonna say. OK, yeah, I think that's.
- 4:31I think all of these are ones that you specifically have said
- 4:34you want to. I could be wrong.
- 4:37I think that's the person that did host.
- 4:40OK. Yeah, think so.
- 4:42It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on
- 4:45September 11th, 2021. Budget of 100,000 and a
- 4:49worldwide gross of 66,000 and IMDb score of 4.6 out of 10.
- 4:57Oh really? Jesus.
- 4:59OK, I guess I didn't do too well.
- 5:01Bad, bad, gross and bad. Score.
- 5:04Second movie. Old, old.
- 5:09Oh. I haven't expressed interest in
- 5:11watching this. You have?
- 5:14Yeah, that's. Right, we had a deal.
- 5:16You wanna watch the? We will watch this if we OK your
- 5:22terms for watching the Knock at the Cabin movie.
- 5:25Watch this. Yes, yeah. 2M9 Shyamalan movies,
- 5:28one that you're interested in and one that I'm interested in.
- 5:31Yeah, because you're like, I don't want to watch old.
- 5:34That sounds like a stupid premise.
- 5:36And I was like, so does knock at the cab.
- 5:38No, no knock at the cabin. OK, like knock at the cabin.
- 5:41Seems like it would have a stupid premise, but I like it
- 5:45better. I like the concept of that
- 5:47better than old. Old like has the making just
- 5:50from the trailer, everything I've seen of it of a classic
- 5:54Shyamalan shit movie. I was trying to find like
- 5:59another S so I get some good alliteration there, but I almost
- 6:03got knocked at the cabin. Spoiled for me because I was
- 6:05listening to Teen Creeps and they covered the book that it's
- 6:08based off of and I was like, huh, The title of this book
- 6:11sounds familiar cuz it's like The Cabin at the End of the
- 6:14World or something. So it's a different name.
- 6:16Okay. And I'm listening to it.
- 6:19And then I heard them mention the movie and I was like, oh
- 6:21shit, that's the fucking book it's face off of.
- 6:23So I turned that off because as much as I don't really care
- 6:26about watching that movie, I at least want it to not be spoiled
- 6:30because we all know it's Shyamalan.
- 6:31So there's going to be a twist. There's always, there's always A
- 6:34twist. One of these days he's not going
- 6:36to have A twist and that'll be that'll be the twist.
- 6:39He's like planned a multi decade plot to like.
- 6:43That's how he retires the ultimate troll, he.
- 6:45Retires on the movie with no twist.
- 6:47It's like a very straightforward movie.
- 6:49Anyway, Old premiered July 23rd 2021 with a budget of 18,000,000
- 6:55and a worldwide gross of 90 million.
- 6:57OK, and an IMDb score of 5.8 out of 10.
- 7:01OK. Better than I was expecting.
- 7:04And then the third movie is Antlers.
- 7:07Ohh, I heard that one did bad. Yeah.
- 7:10I remember a lot of people were super excited.
- 7:12I remember the trailer. I was like this looks weird, but
- 7:15maybe yeah. That's kind of how I felt too.
- 7:18But then I've just heard nothing but terrible stuff about it.
- 7:21I also a time when I think like this looks weird, but maybe it
- 7:24ends up being a good time. As we said in the opening, every
- 7:27movie has its fan base exactly, and they deserve it.
- 7:30Exactly. Yeah.
- 7:31So they're maybe we would like this movie.
- 7:33I don't know it premiered October 29th, 2021.
- 7:37Couldn't find any budget information but it did make a
- 7:40worldwide gross of 18,000,000 and it has an IMDb score of 5.9
- 7:45out of 10. Oh, OK, so decent score at
- 7:47least. All right.
- 7:49Do you want to hear the bad news?
- 7:50No taglines. No taglines.
- 7:52There is no tagline for taglines.
- 7:54No way. Come on.
- 7:56There's gotta be. It could have been something
- 7:57lines. Could have been something.
- 7:59I even pulled up like the posters to see if there's
- 8:01anything on there and I couldn't find anything.
- 8:04Did they just forget? They're just like it's it's
- 8:07whatever. People will watch it or they
- 8:09won't. It's the resort, You know it.
- 8:11Skull on the poster. It's an island.
- 8:13You know it. All right, well, I didn't do
- 8:16really any fun fact finding because it's.
- 8:20To be or not to be? To be or not to be to bonus
- 8:22episode, so we can just go. Straight on our way, yeah.
- 8:25We'll make the fun facts are the friends we made along the way,
- 8:29yeah. Well, fun fact number one, this
- 8:31movie doesn't have a tagline. Is that a fun fact or a sad
- 8:34fact? That's a fun fact.
- 8:36I think it's fun. All right, Travis, I guess we're
- 8:39ready to do good. Bad.
- 8:41Ugly. Absurd.
- 8:42OK. OK.
- 8:44All right. I'll start off with the good,
- 8:45OK? Well, I I thought that the
- 8:49acting was pretty decent, all things considered.
- 8:52I was kind of surprised because I knew that this was a a bug Ted
- 8:56movie going into it. But everybody other than Terson,
- 9:01aka Chris. Did pretty good.
- 9:04Chris is there. Torsten did really good.
- 9:07No, Torsten had pretty flat delivery with his lines, I
- 9:10think. I think he was.
- 9:12He is the least experienced actor.
- 9:14Clearly everybody else there did a pretty I know he's got a shit
- 9:17ton in his filmography, actually.
- 9:19But he's always cast as like for his appearance.
- 9:23I guarantee you that's why he got the role on righteous
- 9:25gemstones, because he is like a buff big boy and you know.
- 9:29Kelvin needed buff big boys, so that's how he was cast.
- 9:33Buff men. Boys and I just I disagree with
- 9:38you. I think he, I think he did good
- 9:40in this. Yeah, I believed him.
- 9:42I thought he had a sensitive side to him.
- 9:44I don't know. I think you just you don't want
- 9:48to think that a buff big boy can be sensitive like that.
- 9:50No, I don't have any problems with that.
- 9:52I just honestly didn't think that he did the best with
- 9:55acting. Also thought that.
- 9:58God, what's the other girl's name?
- 10:00Bree. Bree.
- 10:00Yeah, I didn't think she was super good, but she wasn't bad.
- 10:05I don't know. Like I was overall impressed
- 10:08with the acting. They were all very like
- 10:10stereotypically written characters, so the actors had to
- 10:14work with what they had with it. Yeah, especially Sam, and I'll
- 10:17get into him in a minute. Other than that, I really liked
- 10:22the concept of a haunted resort and I liked the lore of the half
- 10:26face girl. Yeah, I thought that that was
- 10:28pretty creepy. And that's where my good stops.
- 10:33Okay. I really like the concept of it.
- 10:36I like that they're exploring a haunted resort because it kind
- 10:41of gives me the shining vibes, you know what I mean?
- 10:47Where people are like, oh, this hotel is haunted.
- 10:49And then it also gives Blair Witch vibes because it literally
- 10:52takes some set pieces from Blair Witch it.
- 10:55Does. I noticed that too.
- 10:57And we also get like a fun frolic through the woods.
- 11:00And I always love horror that has like brightly lit set
- 11:03pieces. And I think that's part of the
- 11:05reason I reached for this movie today, because we watched
- 11:07Influencer earlier this week and I was like, I want more island
- 11:11based horror. OK yeah.
- 11:14And I also really loved Sam's whole death scene.
- 11:19I thought that was probably one of the better sequences in the
- 11:21movie. Yeah, Sam's is pretty good
- 11:26actually. Yeah, that was probably the
- 11:28highlight of the movie for me. Yeah, OK.
- 11:30All right. So it's your bad.
- 11:33OK, so I think that I hate it at the beginning.
- 11:40How they kept cutting back and forth from like after the event
- 11:44and then before because it didn't flow well it it was super
- 11:48jarring. And like I you can do that with
- 11:51movies, but I don't think that they handled it super well with
- 11:53this. It just kind of made me
- 11:55confused. It got better with the longer
- 11:57sequences. Yeah, doing it like that is
- 12:00better, I think, but like one line at the hospital, getting
- 12:05interviewed by the detective and then going back to them,
- 12:08planning the party. For like 2 more lines and then
- 12:11back and forth like that, it was just too much.
- 12:14So I didn't like that off the bat.
- 12:16That's how we started this thing.
- 12:18Another thing, I noticed that the audio mixing was pretty bad
- 12:22in this. Yeah, there were a couple in
- 12:25particular. When they're at the helicopter
- 12:28and you can see Lex's mouth moving and it's absolute
- 12:32silence. And then there's another where
- 12:34they're like hiking and Sam and Lex are talking and Bree and
- 12:39Chris are talking in the background, but their mic packs
- 12:42are at the same. Time turn down?
- 12:45Yeah. So, like, I'm getting glimpses
- 12:47of their conversation while we're supposed to be hearing
- 12:50this important conversation with Lex.
- 12:52My my theory is that they didn't realize that the mic packs were
- 12:57up so high when they were filming and it was too late to
- 13:00like refilm, so they tried to edit it as much as they could.
- 13:03I just couldn't. I wonder if they have it like
- 13:06this, like we are recording on two separate mics, but it all
- 13:09goes into one feed. Yeah.
- 13:10I wonder if they had that same type of deal where it all, like
- 13:13mixed into one sound wave. Yeah, because like otherwise you
- 13:16can just mute them. But yeah, I don't know enough
- 13:18about audio equipment for filming.
- 13:21Yeah, I don't either. I don't really know enough about
- 13:23our audio equipment here. You handle all of that.
- 13:26Dude, I'm winging it. I am winging it.
- 13:30Like you said before, I thought the characters were super
- 13:32generic, especially Sam. He's supposed to play the
- 13:36lovable asshole, but what he really ends up being is just an
- 13:40asshole. Sean William Scott He is not.
- 13:42Yeah, like you need to have some.
- 13:44And the actor did find All Things Considered, But like,
- 13:48yeah, good, considering he was given, like the douches
- 13:50dialogue. He did a good job with his
- 13:53delivery of it, but like. There wasn't that he would just
- 13:55wasn't written with any nuance or like any charisma like.
- 13:59Everything about he was just given, like shitty wine after
- 14:03shitty wine with nothing redeeming.
- 14:05I like boobies. I like beer.
- 14:07I like drinking. I hate ghosts.
- 14:10Yeah, now I'm dead. Sex joke.
- 14:12Sex joke. Sex joke.
- 14:13Here's my butt. Here's my butt again.
- 14:16Here's my butt 1/3 time. Sex joke.
- 14:18Sex joke. Here's my butt.
- 14:20Here's my butt. OK.
- 14:21Did you have any additional dad? Hold on, I I feel like we need
- 14:28to at least address I. We had to stop for a second and
- 14:31I realized after the fact because I played back some
- 14:33audio, that we had the little clicking sound.
- 14:35So that's done now. I hope so.
- 14:38It's a pipe bum. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:40Sorry about that. But OK, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:43OK. So yeah, the only other bad
- 14:45thing I had was that I thought that some of the editing was bad
- 14:49because there was one part in particular where they are like
- 14:52right after that scene where they're having that
- 14:55conversation. Where we're hearing both sides
- 14:57of it, it suddenly cuts to them being lost, and we made like a
- 15:02huge chunk of something that they had shot there and it just
- 15:06kind of confused me. It was janky.
- 15:08I just didn't. I don't know it was bad.
- 15:12I think that I this it feels very first or second draft to
- 15:17me. The whole movie, yeah.
- 15:20And I feel like it's got not to sound like somebody on HGTV.
- 15:25It's got really good bones and I think it has like a really
- 15:30interesting premise there, a really great setup.
- 15:33We've got the friend dynamics. I just wish we had explored all
- 15:37of it a little bit more. I agree.
- 15:38I feel like we could have rounded out the character some
- 15:41smooth some of the story pieces, cut parts from the beginning,
- 15:44added more at the resort. I feel like we could have done a
- 15:47lot. I am.
- 15:49I yeah, you're right. Because I that was one of the
- 15:51things I was wanting more of. Like it was a lot of them
- 15:55getting to the resort. Like over half the movie it felt
- 15:58like was them hiking to the resort, and then the last half
- 16:02is them exploring it. And then the last 10 minutes was
- 16:06them actually experiencing the spooky stuff.
- 16:09It's like they, you know, they're doing the classic
- 16:12writing thing of like, OK, how do we force them into this
- 16:15situation? This happens, then what?
- 16:17Yeah. And like, they just went with
- 16:19whatever the first option was. And they, I don't know, like,
- 16:22did they tell the actors to ad livid, like what was going on?
- 16:26Because they're like this whole argument about the backpack and
- 16:31how everybody's so like, oh, I'll just buy you a new backpack
- 16:33And she's like, yeah, but my phone and wallet are in there.
- 16:35Like, that's a big deal. And she could have run back
- 16:38inside real quick. And you know what I mean?
- 16:40It's just stuff like that. And like stuff like there's
- 16:44clearly like a history between Sam and Bree that wasn't
- 16:47explored. I wish we'd gotten more
- 16:48background on the half faced girl.
- 16:51Yeah, I wanted. I just wanted more of the half
- 16:53faced girl. Yeah, like even just like why is
- 16:56like OK, yeah, half her face is missing.
- 16:58Why? What happened?
- 17:00What's her story? What's her deal?
- 17:02Yeah. And I like, not even in an
- 17:04explanation way, but because, like, that adds to the terror of
- 17:07like, OK, are we just afraid of people that have, you know, some
- 17:13sort of scarring or are we like, is this part of the mythos to
- 17:17her that like, oh, she was attacked this way, so now she
- 17:20roams the resort attacking other people this way.
- 17:23You know what I mean? Like kind.
- 17:24Of like 13 ghosts where they all have their like their own
- 17:26stories. Yes, Yeah, like, yeah, a little
- 17:29bit like dive a. Little bit more into that war
- 17:31and it explains why they have like their preferred methods for
- 17:35attacking people. Yeah, you know, like when what's
- 17:38her face is in the bathroom, as she always is, and.
- 17:40Shannon. Elizabeth, Yeah.
- 17:42Yes. And like that goes, that's
- 17:44attacking her. It makes sense that she's in the
- 17:46bathroom getting her while she's on the tub.
- 17:47Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, I wish we had that a
- 17:50little bit more. We had some time to play with
- 17:52with this. Yeah, we we did cuz yeah, it's
- 17:55only an hour and 15 minutes. It's a short movie.
- 17:57You could have, definitely. They probably just didn't have
- 18:00the budget for all that, probably.
- 18:02And it's it's a shame because I think this movie, if it was
- 18:05fleshed out a little bit more, could be really great.
- 18:09I think this movie was banking more on setting an unsettling
- 18:15atmosphere while they explored the resort, and then it caps it
- 18:21off with the actual scares that way.
- 18:23It leaves you with that. And then I think ultimately
- 18:29because of that, like, they didn't really execute that stuff
- 18:32well. So I didn't really get much
- 18:34dread or anything in the resort. And whenever the spooky stuff
- 18:38actually happened, that's whenever I was like, oh, OK,
- 18:40this is actually getting kind of good now.
- 18:42And then as soon as it gets kind of good, it just stops.
- 18:45Yeah, that's the rest of the movie.
- 18:47They blew the rest of their budget there in the last 10
- 18:49minutes and then boom, yeah, OK, what's your ugly?
- 18:55Sam. Yeah, Sam really fucking sucks
- 18:58in this movie. He's just a shitty person, just
- 19:03all the way through. He's just, I don't know, I don't
- 19:05like him. I don't care for that guy.
- 19:07And I also thought that some of the effects were pretty bad.
- 19:11I I mean Paranormal Activity, Paranormal Activity, Paranormal
- 19:16movies in general always has to have that one person that's like
- 19:19a non believer. Yeah.
- 19:21Whether or not they get changed or they die before they can
- 19:25change their mind there, there's always that one person because
- 19:27it's a bit of natural friction that you create because you do,
- 19:31like there are people in the world, like if you walk into any
- 19:34room and you're like, I believe in ghosts, there's going to be
- 19:35at least one other person that's like, well, you're dumb, you
- 19:38know what I mean? So it's very reasonable to think
- 19:41that he exists there and that he's either going to have like a
- 19:44huge moment where he's like, ah, those are definitely real, or
- 19:47he's going to die at the hands of a ghost.
- 19:51And so that's like a very easy bit of conflict to put into a
- 19:55movie like this. But like, like you said, give
- 19:59him some nuance because he clearly like that whole back
- 20:02story about growing up super religious.
- 20:05And then he went to college and started learning all these other
- 20:08explanations. That is such an interesting
- 20:11piece of back story. And I wish that like.
- 20:15It mattered to the character more, you know what I mean?
- 20:18Yeah, like have a little bit of more depth and layers with that
- 20:22cynicism beside. Like show, don't tell.
- 20:25Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, it's like, see that he's
- 20:28got, like, these mixed feelings about it all.
- 20:30Yeah, like whenever things actually start to happen, like
- 20:32have him maybe start to question himself.
- 20:35But at no point in this movie does he ever question anything.
- 20:38He just. He ends up dying before anything
- 20:42like happens, Like when he sees the sheet in the tree and he
- 20:45thinks it's a ghost. He's not the one that goes and
- 20:47discovers it's a a sheet. Yeah, if he was really like, oh,
- 20:51stuff like this doesn't exist, why isn't he the one that walked
- 20:53over to the sheet and like, he's?
- 20:55Too busy peeing. He's like peeing the.
- 20:57Whole the entire time, Yeah. But yeah, so I agree with you, I
- 21:04think. I think that's definitely a bit
- 21:09of ugly. Also, just like, you know,
- 21:12making tourism out of like some native land and just be like,
- 21:20ah, those locals, you know, they're crazy custom like that's
- 21:24that shit's madness. Respectful.
- 21:26Everybody has their own customs about like historic battle sites
- 21:30and graveyards and stuff like that, and that's clearly what's
- 21:33being told here and they're just like.
- 21:35Ah, yeah, those fucking losers. Capitalism, am I right?
- 21:39We're white. Like, that's how it definitely
- 21:41comes across when the video, when they're explaining it all.
- 21:43Yeah, like, and that's ugly. And that's also like a very,
- 21:47like, real thing. That's true.
- 21:49Yeah, you're right. People just disrespect and yeah,
- 21:53okay, Which funny enough, we'll tie into our main episode this
- 21:57week of Infinity Pool. Boy, we've been really good
- 22:00about doing that, right? Yeah, we didn't mean to, but
- 22:03it's a good tie in. Okay.
- 22:06I'm sorry. I got a couple of things.
- 22:09Okay, Okay. When we open, are those guards
- 22:12twins? They do look so much alike.
- 22:15Don't. They maybe they had the same
- 22:17guy. Play him.
- 22:18He's like, OK, stand over here and then we'll shoot and we'll
- 22:20stand we'll we'll cut it together like have you ever seen
- 22:22The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan and?
- 22:25If they are twins, you got to acknowledge it, right?
- 22:28You can't just have two twin guards there at the beginning of
- 22:31the movie, not say anything, have one die and then be like,
- 22:38OK, Next up. Back to the pee scene.
- 22:42Oh boy, The fact that he whispered Chris over there while
- 22:46he was peeing and like the girls just say like they come up for
- 22:49anyways. But like, why are you whispering
- 22:51at him? They can.
- 22:51If he can hear you, they can hear you.
- 22:54It's not being discreet at all. Plus you're doing it while
- 22:58you're peeing. Like his Dick is still out this
- 23:00entire time while having this conversation about a sheet.
- 23:03I mean, he just was like full Dick and balls out while they
- 23:07were swimming. He was the only one that shows
- 23:09to skinny dip. But there's something different
- 23:11about it when you're peeing compared to skinny dipping.
- 23:14You know what I mean? It makes it a little bit more
- 23:17intrusive. Not if he's the one inviting
- 23:20them over. Full for people.
- 23:22That's why he didn't want the girls there.
- 23:24He's like, I don't want him to see a pee and.
- 23:31At the end, whenever they're like about to run out of time
- 23:33and they're trying to get back to the boat before it leaves,
- 23:37Chris is like, I'll dig us out of here.
- 23:39And he starts just like tearing weeds out of the ground.
- 23:42He's like not actually digging a hole.
- 23:44He's just tearing weeds out of the ground.
- 23:46You know what I would have loved?
- 23:48What if he had like that little little shovel multi tool from
- 23:51Never Hike Alone and he just, like whips that out of his
- 23:55backpack? It would have been perfect for
- 23:56this situation. Ohh man, this thing's actually
- 23:59really handy. I'm glad that my favorite back
- 24:02camping YouTuber yeah, to me, good tie wink, yeah.
- 24:08Good tie in right there. So this is my absurd.
- 24:12My absurd is Lexi's grand entrance to the movie because
- 24:19their friends are like surprise and she's like guys.
- 24:23First a trip to Hawaii and now a surprise cake.
- 24:28Too much. And it keeps happening
- 24:31throughout the movie, like, guys, a helicopter to the
- 24:35island. Like it's so weird.
- 24:39She's her order of importance and things is so like, she's
- 24:42like, I will gladly accept this free trip to Hawaii, but this
- 24:46cake that's too much, too generous.
- 24:51Yeah. And yeah, she really does like
- 24:53she's got bizarre entitlement because like she's like,
- 24:57alright, let's vote. Do we take the trail to the
- 24:59resort or the trail to the waterfall and they all vote
- 25:01waterfall And she goes, oh and trance.
- 25:04And then we're like, OK, it's time to leave.
- 25:05And she goes, no, we're staying the night.
- 25:08You guys are jerks. You don't want to help me at
- 25:11all. You don't believe in me?
- 25:12She strikes me as the type of person that writes a surprise me
- 25:17with cake on my birthday. And then when she walks in,
- 25:19she's like, ah, really guys, is this?
- 25:23Is it the chocolate? Like I asked for with the
- 25:25Raspberry butter. Ohh yeah, like she's not.
- 25:28She gets disappointed. Like Vanilla.
- 25:31Yeah, I. Definitely requested chocolate.
- 25:35Also, did she have posters of her books up on her apartment
- 25:41walls? Is that what we're led to
- 25:42believe? I wasn't sure.
- 25:44I was curious about what that was, which I'm not like judging
- 25:47that at all. If I publish books, yeah, like
- 25:49if I publish books or was in movie like.
- 25:52We have your Yeah, exactly. Your screen prop on your movie
- 25:55here, like, I would totally do that.
- 25:57I just like again, it's one of those things that is like, OK,
- 26:00she's an established writer. I could see them maybe like
- 26:04using that to grease the wheels a little bit to get over to the
- 26:07resort. I think that would have been an
- 26:09interesting vent on it, you know?
- 26:11So yeah, Lex is my absurd. She She's pretty absurd.
- 26:18OK, all told what? Whoa.
- 26:22OK. What?
- 26:24Whoa. That's her.
- 26:26That's her attack line. What?
- 26:27Whoa whoa. What?
- 26:29Whoa? No.
- 26:30What? Whoa what whoa like.
- 26:32Scooby. What?
- 26:32Whoa, that's a rut row rut. Row, listen, don't try and come
- 26:37at me with scooby-doo knowledge. We've already established she
- 26:40was the scooby-doo fan growing up and it wasn't you.
- 26:43That's true. OK, sorry.
- 26:46It's really nice out and our neighbor likes to ride his
- 26:48motorcycle when that happens. Sometimes you just sits there
- 26:51and Revs it, probably for the kids sake.
- 26:54You know what? The kids are.
- 26:54You're right. So cold.
- 26:56Yeah, you're right. OK, I'll indulge him for that.
- 26:58They seem like they're a cute family.
- 27:00So. Alright.
- 27:01Alright. Anyway, anyway, what's your
- 27:02ranking? I.
- 27:03Think I'm going to have to agree with IMDb and give it a three.
- 27:08OK. I didn't think it was a super
- 27:10strong movie, I think. It had loads of potential.
- 27:13I like the premise, I like, I mean the cast is pretty good and
- 27:19that's about it. Like, I don't think it was just
- 27:21they didn't take full advantage of what they had set up.
- 27:26I'm gonna give it a four, OK? Pretty much for the same reasons
- 27:29as you. I really like the premise of it.
- 27:31And I think if we had embellished on some of it, cut
- 27:35out some of it, smooth the edges, it would have been great.
- 27:38Yeah. OK.
- 27:40So you ready to disclose? Let's do.
- 27:42It OK, so we start off with the security guard at this abandoned
- 27:47resort. He comes in.
- 27:49Looks like maybe some nonsense has been going on here.
- 27:52Find a bottle. At alcohol, Yeah.
- 27:54And the security guard well seasoned in his profession.
- 27:57It was like, I'm guarding this abandoned resort.
- 27:59There shouldn't be an empty bottle here.
- 28:01What will? Rut row.
- 28:04Yeah, so he goes and he throws his lit cigarette and goes
- 28:10investigating and he gets down there and he gets a little girl
- 28:12jump scared. From maybe his twin brother,
- 28:15yeah. Or maybe himself.
- 28:17We don't know. So they're like talking about
- 28:21how it seems like maybe somebody's in here and then they
- 28:23hear shouting, confirming that somebody isn't here.
- 28:26He's like, we need to go check that out and then whoa, he gets
- 28:30dragged down the ha. Isn't this weird though, that if
- 28:33this haunting the half faced girl has been present throughout
- 28:36this entire time that like it would have gotten them a long
- 28:40time ago? Maybe back on their first night
- 28:42on the job. What if this was the first time
- 28:44on the job? I think that generally they
- 28:46don't go inside the resort. I feel like it's one of those
- 28:49things because they're there to make sure there's no trespasser.
- 28:51So he only went inside because it was clear that, like,
- 28:54somebody had been there. Yeah, but they say that she
- 28:57roams the whole island. Even the movies award doesn't
- 29:00even understand. Yeah, yeah, I don't know, I
- 29:05don't. Again, we it was an hour 15.
- 29:07We could have taken a few more minutes to explain some of this,
- 29:11especially 'cause like it was supposed to be a whole
- 29:12established thing that she was researching for her book.
- 29:15That's true, Yeah. Yeah, like, she could have been
- 29:17a good mouthpiece for some of this.
- 29:18Why did we have to watch a YouTube video?
- 29:20Yeah. She could have just been
- 29:21dropping a war. Just like boom, yeah, boom boom.
- 29:24Nah, anyway. OK, type a card that a card, and
- 29:28then Lex comes in and just like guys, that's too much a luxury
- 29:34trip and Kate? I love the editing in this
- 29:38though. OK, like the editing is bad, but
- 29:39it's where she's like. Get surprised.
- 29:41Like, guys, I can't believe you did this.
- 29:44And then it cuts to like somebody being rushed in the
- 29:46hospital hallway. Like, what the fuck did happen?
- 29:48Like, did they like, brush her after that or did she like, eat
- 29:51the cake and have some kind of reaction?
- 29:53We don't know, but she's like, hi, we told you I'm allergic to
- 29:57peanuts. Yeah, it's clearly somebody in a
- 30:00life or death situation being rolled down the hallway at a
- 30:03hospital. Yeah.
- 30:04And then back to the party, Actually, no, no, no, not back
- 30:09to the party. Yet.
- 30:10They're saying that she was airlifted to the island of Maui
- 30:15and that she calmed down what she was told she wasn't on the
- 30:17island anymore. And then Deputy Doofy himself
- 30:20comes in. He's the detective on this case.
- 30:22So, you know, you're in good hands.
- 30:24And I will say, Dave Sheridan, I think this is like the
- 30:28straightest I've ever seen him play anything ever.
- 30:30Yeah. He's a good actor.
- 30:31For real, like he did. I was really impressed with him.
- 30:33Like because that man can't not make me crack up.
- 30:37And like I was like, I'm I I believe you.
- 30:40Like I don't think you're being really sarcastic at any point
- 30:43with this. Even though I'm sure like, he
- 30:44wants to be like he he did a really good jumping it's.
- 30:48He's pretty good. So yeah, he's like, all right,
- 30:51we need to talk. And so then we go flashback to
- 30:54her surprise and they're talking about her book and this upcoming
- 30:58trip and they're like, well, actually we have another
- 31:00surprise. We're gonna take you to the
- 31:02island of Kilahuna and she goes. Guys, guys, is Kilahuna a real
- 31:08island? I feel this fake, like Kill
- 31:11Ahuna that sounds like you're just trying to make up like a a
- 31:14deadly Hawaiian island. Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 31:17And there are so many islands like associated with Hawaii that
- 31:22like it's. You say it weird.
- 31:25Hawaii. I'm pretty sure that's how it's
- 31:27actually pronounced. Probably.
- 31:28But this, I feel like I heard somebody say that that's the
- 31:31correct pronunciation and it's like Hawaii is how like we say
- 31:36it. Hawaii.
- 31:37Hawaii. Cuz we're not like Hawaiians,
- 31:40but it's like actually Hawaii. I swear to God I heard that
- 31:43somewhere. Maybe.
- 31:44Maybe I'm making that up. No, I believe you.
- 31:46OK, just. Yeah, OK, yeah.
- 31:50Anyway, so yeah, she wants to study this island in the resort
- 31:56because that's what she's writing her books on.
- 31:58And as her boyfriend Chris says, as Stephen King says, the devils
- 32:01in the details, which I think lends credence to my Shining
- 32:05Time theory. Yes.
- 32:06However, I don't know if they're dating.
- 32:08I think that he's interested. She calls him Babe at one point.
- 32:12Really. Yeah.
- 32:13Why is she so surprised that he's doing nice things like?
- 32:17When like Bree or like Bree had to, like, leak the details to
- 32:21relax, Like, by the way, he got you that ticket.
- 32:24Like, yeah, if it's a fucking birthday present from your
- 32:28boyfriend, of course. Well, that's the thing that's
- 32:30confusing about it. And she's like, guys, this isn't
- 32:33a free trip. Somebody paid for me.
- 32:35It's too much. I don't know.
- 32:40OK, whatever. So she's like, yeah, it's
- 32:42fucking awesome, you know, Mr. I don't know why I said Mr. I
- 32:47don't know. This is a fucking YouTube
- 32:49channel. Like they're trying to convince
- 32:52the skeptic of the crew, which is Sam.
- 32:56Sam Yeah, they're trying to explain the the lore of the
- 33:00island. And they should like, this feels
- 33:02like one of those videos that we would put on when we want, like
- 33:04a spooky moment but don't have time for a whole movie.
- 33:09And then like you would turn it off halfway through because
- 33:11you'd be like, this is boring, see.
- 33:13I feel like this right here, this movie, this little video
- 33:16that they put together was effective and I wish that we got
- 33:19more of that style in this movie because I feel like if they
- 33:22presented a lot of things in this movie like this, it would
- 33:24have hit harder. It just didn't.
- 33:27I wish they had given a little bit more like specifics, like
- 33:32for example such and such and such and such on this day and
- 33:35witnesses say and da da da da da, instead of just like some
- 33:39guest report riding on the mirror and then the bell hops
- 33:43stopped going to that room and so they shut down the resort and
- 33:46like it feels like we're missing stuff like where's the
- 33:50escalation. It's just it's so crazy that
- 33:53this place opened up and then immediately became haunted and
- 33:58then immediately shut down. Yeah, but the they still, like,
- 34:04maintain the island. I don't know.
- 34:06How kind of it is man. It's just not a super well
- 34:09thought out I don't think. And like, they have ferries
- 34:11there daily. Yeah, but also you're not
- 34:14supposed. To go there, there's a boat that
- 34:17will leave here only at this time, but like, it's totally
- 34:20abandoned. And like, nobody goes to this
- 34:22island ever. In fact, I think they even say,
- 34:24like, nobody ever goes to this island in this video.
- 34:26Like nobody's ever been like they're like, they don't go to
- 34:29the side of the island anymore. But then they say, we also hire
- 34:32security to make sure there's no trespassers at the resort.
- 34:35Also, here's a bunch of footage of the resort like we were
- 34:38there. Again, it just feels like the
- 34:40script is a very like first or second draft and and it was all
- 34:44like solo editing, didn't have an outside perspective be like,
- 34:48hey, so this doesn't make sense to me.
- 34:50Can you explain this? Yeah.
- 34:52Which is why it's OK to have people proofread your stuff and
- 34:56ask questions. You want them to poke holes and
- 34:59stuff like that because it makes the final product better.
- 35:02Exactly. Yes.
- 35:02And it's one of those things that if you've got an ego, which
- 35:06most artists do, it's fine. It's part of the gig.
- 35:09Like it is hard to get that feedback, but it also is
- 35:13important. Yes, exactly So.
- 35:16And they hone in on Room 306, especially because that's the
- 35:20one that apparently had the most haunting sightings.
- 35:25So they surprised Lex again with a helicopter.
- 35:30Yeah. And I don't think she's, like,
- 35:33happy about it. But then sad because she
- 35:35remembers that she's afraid of heights or something.
- 35:38She's like, no, I was afraid of this, guys.
- 35:43They're like, yeah, we know. Like we just thought it would be
- 35:47cool to take a helicopter, not a boat for you.
- 35:49We have a boat and they're like, but this is cheaper, which I
- 35:54call bullshit on that. They're taking.
- 35:57They're doing a backdoor helicopter ride over there.
- 36:00There's no way that's cheaper than taking it then getting a
- 36:03round ticket for the ferry. No, you're right.
- 36:05Yeah, helicopters are definitely gonna be way more expensive.
- 36:08Also, this is very clearly a riding like I think for the
- 36:12script. That way they don't have any
- 36:14other way off the island. They don't have their boat
- 36:16there. Now they are reliant, like
- 36:19they're dependent on another boat.
- 36:20Yeah, yeah. So they're dependent on the
- 36:22ferry. They haven't gotten on the ferry
- 36:25before, so they're not entirely sure.
- 36:27And these people are really bad navigators.
- 36:29Yes, they're terrible at it. And you know, we've got all the
- 36:33usual island stuff, no signal, no cell service.
- 36:36Those are the same things. Yeah, which that makes sense.
- 36:40You know that that stuff makes sense.
- 36:42Yeah. So they're they're gonna go
- 36:45hiking and they've got six hours before they have to be back to
- 36:49the boat. And so Bree sets a timer on her
- 36:53phone. That way they don't forget.
- 36:55Which you know what? Good job, Bree.
- 36:57I appreciate that. I'm a timer setter.
- 36:59Travis will tell you. I've got about 7:00 alarms for
- 37:01just like various things throughout the day, cuz I just I
- 37:04lose track of time very easily. We'll see how it plays out for
- 37:07them, Yeah. So the detective back in the
- 37:13present kind of this is less than 24 hours prior.
- 37:16Yeah, yeah. So the detective is like, yeah,
- 37:19I've been to the island plenty of times as a kid.
- 37:21It doesn't. I don't really believe in those
- 37:23legends. Nobody goes there.
- 37:26I went there all the time. Yeah, Like.
- 37:29And then he's also like, so are your friends still there?
- 37:31And she says yes. And he's like, OK, cool.
- 37:33We want to go save them. She's like, you get there, Dad,
- 37:35it's too late. And he's like, but you said
- 37:38they're still there. No, they're not.
- 37:41What? Yeah, maybe like in the very
- 37:45literal sense that their bodies are still there is what she
- 37:47means. I don't know.
- 37:50So yeah, it's basically it's them hiking through the island
- 37:56and it's really pretty and they get to this fork where it's
- 38:00really not a fork because the pilot told them clearly stay on
- 38:03the marked trails. That's not even like, I mean,
- 38:06haunting stuff aside, that's just good.
- 38:08Just hiking. Yeah, a rule to go by.
- 38:11Yeah, you don't stray from the trail.
- 38:13Yeah. It's very confusing, especially
- 38:31since it's her birthday present. So she gets outvoted and they
- 38:17all go to a waterfall. Her friends do not seem
- 38:19concerned about going to the resort.
- 38:21I don't know why they arranged for this trip to the island
- 38:24specifically. And now that she's like, pushing
- 38:26to see the resort, they're like, no, it's kind of confusing,
- 38:29right? It.
- 38:33Yeah, sort of like, yeah, we're voting not to do the thing that
- 38:36you want to do, even though this is your birthday present.
- 38:38Like, we're all gonna go to this little lake pond area and just
- 38:42like, swim and Sam's gonna get naked.
- 38:45Which for now, really. Yeah, we didn't really sign up
- 38:48for that part. But you know, it's fine.
- 38:50Yeah, it's fine, And then she tells the detector.
- 38:53She goes. That's the last time I truly
- 38:55felt peace. But actually it wasn't peaceful
- 38:58because it felt like the island was trying to push us off.
- 39:00Yeah, she's like, I should have. That's whenever I noticed, like
- 39:03I should have listened to the island, it was telling us to
- 39:06leave. And I'm like, what?
- 39:08What? Like, there's like nothing about
- 39:11that at all that happens at this point.
- 39:13So then this is where they're all talking about their beliefs
- 39:15that the paranormal. And you know, we've gotten a lot
- 39:18of Lex talking about how she believes it, 'cause every
- 39:20culture has some version of the afterlife.
- 39:24And Chris is like, yeah, I'm open to the idea that ghosts
- 39:26exists. Like, why not?
- 39:28And Bree says, you know, if good exists, I think evil also has to
- 39:32exist, which that that is, that is discriminatory towards
- 39:39ghosts, assuming that all ghosts are evil.
- 39:41Honestly, I think that that actor was winging it.
- 39:43She was struggling so hard to find the words for that.
- 39:46It's like it's like the episode wasn't in the script.
- 39:49It's like that episode of Parks and Rec where she's, like,
- 39:53giving the Miss America speech or whatever.
- 39:57Oh, where she's parodying Miss Teen, South Carolina.
- 40:00Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's very much like that
- 40:03like and there's like a definitely good, but I
- 40:07personally feel like that there's also bad.
- 40:11So yeah, Ghost exists a. Little better than that.
- 40:15Not much, honestly. I know.
- 40:17What her point was? It doesn't make any sense.
- 40:19What are you talking about? There must be good, so there
- 40:21must be bad Okay. So that explains ghosts.
- 40:25Well, that's why I'm saying that she's a little bit bigoted
- 40:27towards the undead, I guess. Yeah, I guess I.
- 40:31Don't know so anyway. Sam is like, Oh yeah, no, I used
- 40:35to like, have a very religious viewpoint and then I learned
- 40:39about science. So none of that anymore.
- 40:42For me, his whole story, like I was about to call him now he's
- 40:46like, yeah, so like I have this thing where like, I woke up in
- 40:48the middle of the night and I was paralyzed and I wrote.
- 40:51Sam was religious. I had sleep paralysis, yeah.
- 40:54And then learned that that was sleep paralysis.
- 40:57I did like, he was like, and then I went to college and I
- 40:59learned a little thing about sleep paralysis.
- 41:02I was like, OK, this one, Yeah. Good for you, man.
- 41:05And this is the pee scene. Oh yeah, so he's like, all
- 41:08right, I told my sweet paralysis story, I gotta go pee.
- 41:11So he goes to go pee and he sees like what looks like a person
- 41:15with a bag over them or a blanket or something.
- 41:18It really looks like our girl Agnes that we have for our
- 41:21Halloween decorations. That's what I thought she was
- 41:24the whole time. I feel like this would have been
- 41:27more effective if it was clearly somebody.
- 41:30And then whenever they call, he calls, excuse me, whispers for
- 41:33Chris to come over, like it ends up being like something else and
- 41:36it's just like the little blanket or the curtain or
- 41:39whatever it was. Yeah, so anyway, they're all
- 41:43like, ha ha ha ha ha, you're peeing.
- 41:46They're not even, like, looking at the thing like, ah, look at
- 41:49this. Thing they find a radio tower.
- 41:52We do have a fun fit where Bree's like it's a cell tower
- 41:56and they're like honey, but I don't have service.
- 42:01And then Sam. 'S like, I want to climb it and
- 42:03they're like, no, it'll electrocute you, which I don't
- 42:05think that's how radio covers quick.
- 42:07And then he sells the electrocution thing in the worst
- 42:12possible way. And then?
- 42:13But breezes sweet little dumb dumb.
- 42:16And she's like, Sam, are you OK? I can see.
- 42:19And then he's like, ah, and you care about me.
- 42:22It's like, yeah, that's your fucking girlfriend.
- 42:24And then at the same time I'm like, I think maybe.
- 42:26Be their exes though. Oh really?
- 42:28Yeah. Because at one point, one of his
- 42:30butt flashing moments, she says that he needs more squats and
- 42:34he's like, you used to like it. Yeah, this still feels like
- 42:37they're still together. Like it's just like he took like
- 42:40a well, like playful jab too harshly.
- 42:42He's like, she's like my butt anymore.
- 42:45But I feel like I see what they were trying to do with this
- 42:47scene right here. They were trying to have.
- 42:49I can see this in another movie and it being endearing and
- 42:52playful, but the way that it's acted out and performed and
- 42:56written just Sam is kind of like an asshole again.
- 43:00Yeah. Again, it's one of those that,
- 43:01if they flesh it out a little bit, yeah, had more than one
- 43:04draft on it, it would be good, yeah.
- 43:07Okay. So they get to the resort and
- 43:12Sam completely just fucks shit up.
- 43:14He's like, I've always wanted to break windows and it's like,
- 43:18dude, you're the reason we don't have nice things.
- 43:20You're the reason that we have to, like, have signs at hiking
- 43:24trails saying, like, don't leave your fucking trash here.
- 43:27Yeah, it's just weird. Like immediately going into the
- 43:30resort and then he finds a cinder block and just tosses it
- 43:33through a window. Like that's the first thing that
- 43:35you want to do. And then I like, in my notes, I
- 43:39almost wrote, OK, so he's one of those, like, dangerous,
- 43:42impulsive drunks. And then Chris is like, all
- 43:44right, you've had enough to drink.
- 43:45So I'm like, oh, cool, I clocked that character trait pretty
- 43:48easily. Yeah, we haven't mentioned that.
- 43:50Like every other shot, he's been hiking.
- 43:53He's just, he's got he, he's drink an entire bottle by
- 43:57himself. Yeah, and then he's also had,
- 43:59like, the little mini shot bottles.
- 44:01Yeah, like, the dude's fucked up.
- 44:02Yeah, I'm and honestly like that stressed me out so much because
- 44:06that much hiking. Like he's gonna be so
- 44:08dehydrated. Yeah, and he's got to smell
- 44:11awful. Ohh yeah, whatever sweat is
- 44:12coming out of his floor is gotta be nasty.
- 44:16Anyway, like it made me thirsty washing it.
- 44:21So yeah, we they go to room 306 now.
- 44:25And they're taking pictures. So those are just like, babe,
- 44:27take a picture of me, babe, I look like at the door, go to my
- 44:30backpack. I need this from my book.
- 44:33Yeah, like what? Why?
- 44:35Like, I get that. Like it would be cool to have
- 44:38like in the book, like showing that you did your research or
- 44:40whatever. But yeah, it could be in like
- 44:42what did they call that whenever?
- 44:43Like you have like the author information whenever you first
- 44:46open the book. I think it's just like an author
- 44:50headshot, but don't they have like a little bit of like
- 44:53something like a little writing from the author?
- 44:56Like acknowledgements. They just like say things or
- 45:00intro or they talk. Yeah, they just talk about like
- 45:02the author or maybe the. Author Yes, I think the forward
- 45:05is what it's called. Yeah, I I can see it being used
- 45:07for that. I felt like you kept changing
- 45:09the description of what you were trying to get.
- 45:12The name of all the things I said are true about books, it's
- 45:14in the beginning. It has a picture of them.
- 45:16Usually it's about them. Sometimes it's written by them,
- 45:19most times it's written by them. You know, but there's like all
- 45:23kinds of different versions of that, depending on what you're
- 45:25talking about. Man, I don't read a lot of
- 45:27books, OK? I know I'm going based off of
- 45:29the few books I've read, OK? And I feel like maybe she's
- 45:34making a book with pictures. Maybe she's making like a
- 45:37graphic novel. I don't know.
- 45:40I don't know. It could be anything.
- 45:41Anyway, the detective is like, so you did take pictures and
- 45:46she's like, yeah. And he was like, that's weird.
- 45:49I didn't see any on your phone. She's like, you went through my
- 45:51fucking phone. She doesn't say that, but that
- 45:54was what I wanted her to say. Yeah, right.
- 45:56Like why would, like, I know you're the detective, but that's
- 45:59illegal. You can't be going through
- 46:00people shit like that. So how did you get into her
- 46:03phone? Do you not have it password
- 46:05protected Lex? A lot of people have the face
- 46:09read thing, which if she were, you know, passed out, he could
- 46:13just take her face and unlock it.
- 46:15I guess I always hated the facial recognition thing because
- 46:19I wear glasses and contacts. So depending on the day, my
- 46:25phone didn't know how to handle my face.
- 46:27I just don't like the yeah, I just don't like it.
- 46:31I don't care for. I like the thumb reading.
- 46:33Yeah. OK, so they are hearing sounds.
- 46:40Sam has been outside while Chris, Lex, and Bree are inside
- 46:44exploring. And they hear like a ruckus and
- 46:47they go outside and they see swarms of what we later learn
- 46:50are birds. I thought maybe we're locusts,
- 46:52but that might just be like a righteous gemstones bias that
- 46:56Torsten possibly nice. Invoked in me it's just birds
- 47:02being birds, but they're like, oh spooky, haunting, haunting,
- 47:06ghosts, ghost birds. I thought something was gonna
- 47:08happen to Sam in this moment. Honestly, I did too, because I
- 47:12really thought he would be the first to go considering his
- 47:14whole like anti ghost rhetoric. Yeah.
- 47:17Plus they have him isolated. Yeah, it would be.
- 47:19It made sense, but instead it's just like.
- 47:22They maybe they plan that, but they didn't have the budget to
- 47:24do it because the storms of birds were clearly like on a
- 47:27repeat loop, like you can make it work.
- 47:30OK, maybe the birds were supposed to attack Birdemic.
- 47:33I was gonna say, I wish that they'd just done the same
- 47:35effects as Birdemic. Yeah, I would respect it
- 47:39totally. Like, especially if everything
- 47:41else looked nice and then suddenly it's just like just
- 47:44like fake puppet birds attacking.
- 47:46Amazing. Yeah, I would love it.
- 47:49Velocipaster did the same thing. Yes, I would.
- 47:52I would live. I would respect this, maybe
- 47:54leaning into his low budget status.
- 47:56Yeah. So they now are like, OK, it's
- 47:595:45, we need to get out of here.
- 48:01Like doesn't really want to go though.
- 48:03She's like, but we brought flashlights.
- 48:05Clearly, we're planning to be here past dark.
- 48:08And they're like, no, we brought them for the hike back.
- 48:12Yeah, once. It takes like over an hour for
- 48:14us to get back to the where the boat's going to be.
- 48:17So we need to go. And she's like, no, we got time.
- 48:19Like, you know, 545, OK, we definitely have time to do this.
- 48:23And then the Chris starts digging by pulling weeds out of
- 48:27a fence. They all can't agree where they
- 48:29came in at. And for a minute I like, I
- 48:31thought we were going to have, like, a night of the demons
- 48:33moment. We're like, no, this is
- 48:34definitely the way we came in. And now there's a fence in the
- 48:36way. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:37But instead, they're just, like disoriented.
- 48:39No, it's just like, that's all it is.
- 48:41And then she's like, where's my backpack?
- 48:43Chris, you left my backpack upstairs.
- 48:46I'm sorry. Why is it his fucking
- 48:48responsibility to get your backpack, Lex?
- 48:50I bet she planted it. She's like, oh, you guys, you
- 48:53fuckers want to leave? All right, I'm leaving my
- 48:55backpack. Sorry, another tie in to
- 48:57Infinity pool with him and his fucking passport.
- 48:59That's true, yeah. So they're they reluctantly
- 49:04agree to go back to the resort to get her backpack, but it does
- 49:07not have. To be such a big argument, it
- 49:09could have been like, OK, let's run in real quick.
- 49:11Well, I mean, honestly, like, I guess, yeah, I know you need it,
- 49:14but you also need to get off the island.
- 49:16I think that's the higher priority.
- 49:18They're staying. They said that they're staying
- 49:20there for a week. They can come back and get.
- 49:22It that's true, who's gonna steal the backpack?
- 49:25But, like, that would have made more sense for them to say that
- 49:28instead of Chris being like, I'll buy you a new backpack and
- 49:30everything like my phone and wallet are in there, he goes.
- 49:32So no, they don't. No, they're like, but you don't,
- 49:35don't, don't you have it all backed up and she's like, I
- 49:37don't know, maybe it doesn't matter.
- 49:38I need my shit. Like which there's no way.
- 49:41If she is a published author and has multiple books, there is no
- 49:44way that she does not have multiple backups of her notes.
- 49:47There is absolutely no way, No established authors like, Yep, I
- 49:52keep one copy that's not backed up anywhere.
- 49:54It's on a single device, and I'm not at all concerned about that.
- 49:58Like nobody does that until X. Came until X came along.
- 50:02She's like guys, multiple devices and backups is too much.
- 50:07That's what's in the forward of her books.
- 50:09Just like what? Is this relevant to this?
- 50:13OK, so they go back there to go get it.
- 50:15Backpack's gone, not in the room that they were in 306, so they
- 50:19start looking around trying to find it.
- 50:21Chris finds a dead coyote in the backpack in a room and they're
- 50:25like, I don't even know coyotes were over here in this state.
- 50:29And he goes they aren't. And then we never visit this
- 50:33again. Like, just like, Yeah, like.
- 50:36That's it. Ghost Coyote.
- 50:38What happened? Where did this?
- 50:40What the fuck? Yeah, right.
- 50:43You know, this is a little bit more upsetting now that they
- 50:45didn't even acknowledge it. Like just like.
- 50:48Yeah, that sure is weird. All right, here's your bloody
- 50:51backpack. Let's go.
- 50:53Yeah. What?
- 50:54What the fuck? I don't fucking know.
- 50:56OK, so, yeah. All right, the backpacks there.
- 50:59All right, let's get going. Oh, there's.
- 51:01They start to hear a noise, so they go to investigate.
- 51:04This is where the security guard is coming in.
- 51:06So now we know where the security guard was at, and I did
- 51:08like. This cuz I didn't expect the
- 51:09security guards to be part of this.
- 51:11I thought it was just like a spooky opening to show that the
- 51:14resort is haunted. Yeah, so it was kind of nice
- 51:16that we see like the kids side of things after we'd seen the
- 51:20security guards side of things so we know exactly what was
- 51:22happening. And that's a nice twist that
- 51:24doesn't end up paying off at all.
- 51:26No, not at all. I mean, like they see the
- 51:27cigarette that he had at the beginning, like, oh Sam, are you
- 51:31still smoking? You were supposed to be smoking.
- 51:32I was like, no, I've had 1-6 months and then they see that
- 51:35the security truck is outside, so they go over there to try and
- 51:39get in it. But then everybody gets a
- 51:40conscious and they're like, well, we can't leave this guy
- 51:43and so. No, they don't get a conscience.
- 51:45Chris steals the keys so that way they can't steal the truck.
- 51:50And so Sam gets out, starts fighting with him, which is a
- 51:54dumb move to fight somebody that has more muscle mass on his body
- 51:58than you have. Like actual density.
- 52:01Yeah, this guy's a fucking mountain.
- 52:03Like, yeah, and he's his face instantly gets bruised up
- 52:06because they're fighting and Bree is just like, I'm not
- 52:08getting out in the middle of this.
- 52:10And then guess what? The truck doors slam themselves,
- 52:12they lock themselves, and they're trying to like bust
- 52:16windows because that's the only thing Sam can contribute to
- 52:18anything. Ever.
- 52:20And then the truck starts on its own.
- 52:23And then it slams through the gate and over a balcony down
- 52:26several stories and Chris goes to investigate and.
- 52:30She's Chris. Chris is like, we just need to
- 52:32go. And Alexis like, no, we need to
- 52:34see if she's a lot like we're not gonna make the boat anyway,
- 52:37We can't leave the security guard.
- 52:39She'll be OK. Can't leave the security guard,
- 52:42our best friend. Yeah, fucker.
- 52:44Yeah, it's fine. It's just Brie.
- 52:46Yeah. So Chris goes down to check on
- 52:49her. She's very dead.
- 52:52Like she's super dead. Like she's she's predictably
- 52:55dead. So they're trying to find
- 52:58another way out. The three of them that are left,
- 53:03yeah, but spooky. They see the half face girl,
- 53:08she's in the lobby and then she starts chasing them.
- 53:10And then the detective back in the present kind of is like, so
- 53:14you're telling me this truck moved on its own or do you not
- 53:17think it's reasonable that maybe she hit the gear shift, which I
- 53:22feel like that's such a good tie in to the whole, like explaining
- 53:25the paranormal with the daytoday stuff like they have that like
- 53:29through line in this movie that they could have expanded upon
- 53:32more and I wish they had. Yeah.
- 53:36So yeah, they are seeing the ghost.
- 53:41Multiple ghosts maybe? It's kind of hard to tell.
- 53:43I think it's just the one. I think it's just her half faced
- 53:47girl. She's just chasing around the
- 53:48resort. So they're trying to find.
- 53:51Exit. Sam had found an exit by the
- 53:54pool earlier, so they're trying to get him to find it again.
- 53:56And in the basement they hear giggling and footsteps.
- 53:59And this is legitimately, probably the creepiest part of
- 54:01the movie. Yeah, it is, Yeah.
- 54:02And it just it goes so quickly too.
- 54:05Yeah, I wish we got more of this type of stuff.
- 54:07Yes, I wish that like. Maybe the beginning had been
- 54:10about 20 minutes of buildup and then we had like these types of
- 54:13moments for the rest of that exactly.
- 54:16So yeah, the ghost comes up and they're like freaking out and
- 54:21they're like, OK, well, we all just need to stick together.
- 54:23So of course Sam immediately gets separated because the ghost
- 54:26has grabbed him and they. Are like shit.
- 54:36Yep. Sam's gone, so they go looking
- 54:33for him and it's a full Blair Witch Project moment.
- 54:37As he's just up against the wall.
- 54:38Except then we get to see the ending that we assume happened
- 54:42after the credits rolled on Blair Witch Project, which is
- 54:45him turn around. And attack Chris?
- 54:48Yeah, but once he's actually overpowering him, yeah, he's got
- 54:51his head backwards. He's like definitely, like, full
- 54:53on Ghost now. He's got like, black veins,
- 54:56yeah. So he's like choking out Chris.
- 54:58And then Lex gets like a pair of scissors or something.
- 55:01And stabs him in the throat and then Sam goes, why would you do
- 55:05that? And I was like, oh shit, did he
- 55:06do another prank? I thought that was happening,
- 55:08too. But no, he's just like a sad
- 55:10ghost. Like, what the fuck would you
- 55:11send me? And then why?
- 55:12Would you do that and then? Hands reach and pull his face
- 55:17apart. It was actually really gross.
- 55:20This was cool. I like this.
- 55:22I like that half Face girl turns him into no face boy.
- 55:25Yeah, like it's it's a really well done scene and then like
- 55:30she starts chasing them and they make it to an elevator, but they
- 55:34have to wait for it to come down to therefore.
- 55:37And so then the lights start flickering and ghost Sam is
- 55:40going legs which like. I don't know if you're planning
- 55:45to have a ghost ominously say somebody's name.
- 55:49Maybe name the character with more syllables.
- 55:52Yeah, licks, licks. It says it so many times to like
- 55:57licks, licks. Yeah, so.
- 56:01Eventually, like Chris was like, alright, leave my girlfriend
- 56:04alone Mr. Ghost man. And then the ghost is like, fuck
- 56:07you and like pushes him to the ground and stomps his skull and
- 56:11Michael Myers style. Yeah, I was pretty sick.
- 56:13Yeah. Yeah.
- 56:14Curb stomps his ass. Yeah.
- 56:16Then the elevator arrives. She gets in there, gets up to
- 56:20the. That's correct.
- 56:20Like a freight lift, kind of almost like it's like, yeah,
- 56:24gets their machinery up to the top level or whatever.
- 56:28Either that or like a really outdated.
- 56:30No, I don't. I think it's like it's a
- 56:32maintenance lift. It's not like a there no high
- 56:35end resort is going to put its guests on a lift like this,
- 56:39that's true. And also that resort was built
- 56:41in the 90s, he said. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:43OK, well, OK, she gets up there and she gets into a hallway and
- 56:46then she starts hearing Bree singing Happy Birthday.
- 56:49Which this is kind of creepy too.
- 56:52Yeah, it could have been. It could have like like she's, I
- 56:55guess, sung happy birthday. And then suddenly, the room goes
- 56:58white. Yeah, it's like she enters the
- 57:00take on me. Music video.
- 57:02Yeah, I don't know what happened here.
- 57:05They ran out of budget. Like suddenly just everything
- 57:04turns white around. Yeah, like, all right, green
- 57:08screen just put white there. I don't know.
- 57:10I don't know. I don't know.
- 57:11I thought maybe it was like a is this like her Whiting out or
- 57:15something? I don't know.
- 57:16I don't know. But then the detectors like, all
- 57:18right. Sounds legit.
- 57:20We're going to send some officers over to the island,
- 57:23Yeah. And so she takes her phone out
- 57:25of the evidence bag and her phone can see him through the
- 57:30through the sheet, his black veins.
- 57:33Yeah. No, no.
- 57:34Well, I don't know, like, but no, he's like when she's doing
- 57:38that, he's in the room. But like before that, we did see
- 57:40him go to the other side. Yeah.
- 57:42So she's like taking a picture of him, but she can see his like
- 57:45ghost veins. Yeah.
- 57:46And then she's like, what? And then he like and she like
- 57:50crawls out of the bed and he attacks her.
- 57:52And then she's actually dead and still on the island.
- 57:55Yeah, just like puts the phone down, go stay shared and
- 58:00screaming at her and then we get half a squirrel.
- 58:03This is where it gets really bad with the effects I think.
- 58:07Nothing here looks good at all. Yeah, it's like they just, they
- 58:10were like, couldn't think of an ending.
- 58:12So they ended it with chaos. And I think, yeah, listen, I
- 58:17don't mind like she was actually dead the whole time.
- 58:20Twist I don't think that's what happened.
- 58:23I what I thought was like, they made her think that she was in a
- 58:28hospital, but then like it reveals she's still in the
- 58:30resort. But she, like, had ghost veins
- 58:32too when they pulled out from her.
- 58:34Oh, did they? Yeah.
- 58:35Oh, shit. I didn't realize that.
- 58:36Oh, yeah. OK, well then.
- 58:38So like, I don't know. I think this there were more
- 58:44problems when we went through and talked about it.
- 58:46Yeah, there, there's a lot. And I think it's it's such a
- 58:50solid premise and it's got some really good ideas.
- 58:52It just feels very like it needs another pass.
- 58:56Yes, desperately. Like it needs a little of the
- 58:59scripts and some reshoots and some editing and it could be
- 59:03really great. I I like the premise of it.
- 59:06I was really sold by the trailer when we watched it.
- 59:09And yeah, I like it did. It didn't meet my expectations
- 59:14based on the trailer, and not in like a good way.
- 59:17Yeah, I think what they could have done is cut down on some of
- 59:24the hiking to the resort, focus a little bit more on the
- 59:27spookiness that's happening at the resort, and have the
- 59:31halffaced girl be more of a presence there because they were
- 59:35hyping her up from the very beginning.
- 59:37And like, we get her and she's great when we do get her, but
- 59:40like, we don't get enough of her, I don't think.
- 59:42Or like even if we keep all of the hiking, like make it matter.
- 59:46Develop their relationships a little bit more, gets people a
- 59:49little bit multi dimensionality to their personalities and have
- 59:53like spooky stuff happening because we're told that the
- 59:55whole this whole set of the island is supposedly haunted.
- 59:58Yeah, other than that one thing where he's peeing and he thinks
- 1:00:01he sees something like, you know, have more other than that.
- 1:00:04Yeah, I like. I think it could be really good.
- 1:00:08I hope somebody like 5 years from now remakes it.
- 1:00:11Or they just do a sequel or something.
- 1:00:13I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:00:15Yeah, there's there's so much potential there with this.
- 1:00:17Yeah, it's it's, and it's got some really scary moments.
- 1:00:20Like I said, I think Sam's whole death scene holds up pretty
- 1:00:23well. Like that sequence from when
- 1:00:25they get down into the basement until he has his face torn off.
- 1:00:27Yeah, really solid. I think so too.
- 1:00:31I just wish the rest of the movie was like that.
- 1:00:33Me too. Me too.
- 1:00:35And like we barely get anytime focusing on Bree and Chris's
- 1:00:38death. Like.
- 1:00:39Yeah, you're right. Yeah, it doesn't really.
- 1:00:42Like, it just happens and they're like, forgotten.
- 1:00:45Yeah, so I'm bumping mine down. I hate this.
- 1:00:51What are you making it 3.5? Oh, OK.
- 1:00:54I'm keeping mine AT3OK, so we went from a 3.5 average to a
- 1:00:583.25. Travis, what do you think
- 1:01:02Scout's favorite part was? This is a tough one, but I think
- 1:01:09her favorite part? I guess whenever Sam gets naked
- 1:01:15and jumps into the water because she does that.
- 1:01:19Nope. Obviously, her favorite part is
- 1:01:22when everybody watches him pee. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:29OK, who did you relate to? I don't know.
- 1:01:37I guess like as shitty as he is, I related to Sam and the fact
- 1:01:42that like I am like the paranormal skeptic of the two of
- 1:01:47us. Definitely.
- 1:01:49Like, but I I have more respect for it than he does.
- 1:01:52I'm like a combination between him and Chris with like Chris
- 1:01:57understands it and he fully believes in it.
- 1:02:00I think however like I understand it but I don't
- 1:02:02necessarily believe in it. I would say that I probably, I
- 1:02:10would probably relate to Chris like the believing but not
- 1:02:14necessarily super into ghost hunting and then he like playing
- 1:02:19peacekeeper, like trying to keep everybody mellow and also be a
- 1:02:23little bit of like the moral conscience like hey, we can't
- 1:02:25seal the security guards truck like.
- 1:02:27But also fuck Bree like, but also fuck Bree like.
- 1:02:30You gotta know when you cut the, like, the ties there.
- 1:02:32Yeah, I mean, you know, at a certain point, sentimentality
- 1:02:36out the one. Who's that for?
- 1:02:37Ghosts are there. Come on, man.
- 1:02:39Can't be caring about people. Okay, do we have a dream sequel?
- 1:02:44Like, if we did get a sequel to this, like how they could have
- 1:02:49like, built on this war? I feel like they have a lot to
- 1:02:52build on here. I think it would be really fun.
- 1:02:54So that Channel that they show at the beginning with the
- 1:02:57YouTube channel, yeah, like, they're like, man, we've got an
- 1:02:59update to the island of Kilahuna, and they're talking
- 1:03:03about, oh, this author and her group of friends went to go
- 1:03:07investigate because she's researching for her book.
- 1:03:10And so they want to go on a research tour, but they're not
- 1:03:14like, going to the island intentionally.
- 1:03:17Like, they're going to like other parts, like the islands
- 1:03:21surrounding Kilahuna, and they're interviewing people that
- 1:03:23know about it. Something happens that forces
- 1:03:26them over there against their will.
- 1:03:29Just that way. We're not like retreading the
- 1:03:30exact same story. Yeah, OK.
- 1:03:33That thing, that's fine. You know, honestly though, I
- 1:03:35feel like this one right here, you can have a little bit more
- 1:03:37retreading, especially if you're approving on things.
- 1:03:40That's true. But I like your premise there.
- 1:03:43I like that as a setup. I'm gonna propose that we get
- 1:03:48Felissa rows in this one because if you have Dave shared and
- 1:03:52they're they're a package, so you gotta have yeah, they're a
- 1:03:55bonded pair. Yeah, so like, have her be like
- 1:03:58one of the ghosts at the resort and.
- 1:04:01Obviously they've shared, and it's more of a ghost presence
- 1:04:04since we know that he's a ghost now, yeah.
- 1:04:09Yeah, I don't know. Give us some more.
- 1:04:13Half faced girl. And now you got a new one.
- 1:04:15You got no face, Sam. Yeah.
- 1:04:19So yeah, okay. Did you get a review for this?
- 1:04:25I did okay. Yeah, we did.
- 1:04:27I pulled a good and bad review, cuz I think we had previously
- 1:04:30talked about maybe doing that with the TV or not to be a.
- 1:04:32We did. So I wanna start with the bad
- 1:04:36one because of something that you said at the beginning of the
- 1:04:38episode. Okay, I thought this horror
- 1:04:41movie would never get going. And I was right.
- 1:04:43It never did. It bopped along for about an
- 1:04:46hour and then decided to actually become a horror slash
- 1:04:48ghost story. The last 15 minutes weren't
- 1:04:50worth the wait. The ending was exactly what I
- 1:04:52thought it would be. I think I'll watch 13 Ghosts
- 1:04:55again. Hey, yeah, honestly, 13 Ghosts
- 1:04:58is like a better telling of this type of story.
- 1:05:00Yeah. Again, I I agree with what
- 1:05:04they're saying that it like didn't really cover anything new
- 1:05:10and which is not necessarily a problem, but if you do that, you
- 1:05:13need to do it well. Or make it fun.
- 1:05:17Or yeah, scary. Like, you can do like the same
- 1:05:20old and still keep it creepy. Yeah, it's just it's lukewarm
- 1:05:24the whole time. Yeah.
- 1:05:27On the other hand. Curious to see what somebody
- 1:05:29that loved this movie says. Had a lot of time on my hands.
- 1:05:33Quarantining and had just watched Fantasy Island 2020.
- 1:05:36So my fiance and I decided to watch the resort.
- 1:05:38Sticking with the island theme. Yep, the actors are likable and
- 1:05:42the script is intelligent. Shots are beautiful.
- 1:05:45Predictably, starts to get scary when the cast arrives at the
- 1:05:47haunted resort because the main character tells us when it's
- 1:05:50going to happen. I feel like the characters
- 1:05:53started dying a little too fast. They could have extended the
- 1:05:56scares another 10 to 15 minutes before people start dying.
- 1:06:01Interesting. The half face girl should have
- 1:06:03been more prominent and with more back story the end came way
- 1:06:06too fast. Could have been more realistic
- 1:06:08considering the whole hospital scene was a dream.
- 1:06:10Where did the detectives character come from?
- 1:06:12All the other characters in a movie had a good reason to turn
- 1:06:15in the film but the detective was really just a figment of the
- 1:06:17main characters imagination. Nice first feature, Taylor.
- 1:06:21Oh, is this this person's first movie then?
- 1:06:22Yeah, I think so. Well, you know, like I can see
- 1:06:27they had a lot of things that we said.
- 1:06:29Yeah, they just ended up actually liking it more than we
- 1:06:32did, which that's, you know, like I don't know.
- 1:06:35Like I I don't really. I I agree with all of their
- 1:06:39criticisms. I think it's just because it has
- 1:06:41such potential. And like, that's the thing that
- 1:06:43I feel like I consistently do on here is when I see like a film's
- 1:06:46potential and a director's potential not live up to it.
- 1:06:51I'm frustrated with them because they have, like, they have the
- 1:06:54skills, they have the goods. They just need to, like, go for
- 1:06:57it. Yeah, I mean, push a little
- 1:06:59more. They are right.
- 1:07:00This movie is well shot. Yeah, it's well put together as
- 1:07:03like audio side, audio side. But everything else about it is
- 1:07:07pretty well done. I don't necessarily agree with
- 1:07:10them killing the people too soon.
- 1:07:11Like they didn't die until the end of the movie.
- 1:07:15I think they mean like there wasn't enough scary stuff
- 1:07:18happening before the deaths. It's like they got spooky and
- 1:07:20then boom, death. Yeah, that's that's exactly what
- 1:07:23happened. Yeah, we needed to have a little
- 1:07:24bit more like narrowly escaping some stuff.
- 1:07:26So that way like we get our hearts pump in and then we get
- 1:07:29that like release with the death.
- 1:07:31Yeah, they just, it was all build up and then once they got
- 1:07:34there, they just let it all out in 10 minutes and then that was
- 1:07:37it. Yeah.
- 1:07:38OK. Well, I get.
- 1:07:40I get it. Yeah.
- 1:07:41OK. So, Travis.
- 1:07:44Yes to chiller question to be or not to be?
- 1:07:52I'd have to thumbs this one down.
- 1:07:54OK, I'd say you don't really need to see it.
- 1:07:57There's a lot of better movies that tell this type of story in
- 1:08:04more entertaining ways. I'm not mad that we watched it.
- 1:08:09It's just I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
- 1:08:14It's I don't know that I would necessarily watch it again.
- 1:08:16I think if it was on in the background I wouldn't
- 1:08:19necessarily care too much like because there's some movies that
- 1:08:21you know, I'm like I don't want this on at all.
- 1:08:24This is one that if it's on in the background, I don't know
- 1:08:26that I'm necessarily going to go searching out.
- 1:08:28I would tell people that you can check it out for yourself.
- 1:08:32I feel like it's worth viewing and coming to your own
- 1:08:35conclusions, as we see some people had the same issues with
- 1:08:38us, but they weren't as big hangups.
- 1:08:40I I agree with that. But would you personally
- 1:08:43recommend this to anybody? I might recommend it to like I
- 1:08:47have a coworker that's kind of dipping her toe into scary
- 1:08:50movies and we have our whole system of like, is this a
- 1:08:54nighttime movie or daytime movie?
- 1:08:55Like, I would tell her that she could watch this and it would be
- 1:08:58a nighttime movie. I mean, she wouldn't be too
- 1:08:59spooked being at home alone after like.
- 1:09:02I guess it depends on if, like, the stuff at the end gets her
- 1:09:05cuz like, it gets kind of creepy there at the end.
- 1:09:26Yeah, I'd give the sequel a shot for sure.
- 1:09:07It does get kind of creepy, but it doesn't linger on it too
- 1:09:09long. So I don't like, I think it'll
- 1:09:10be like, enough to like, whoo, That was spooky.
- 1:09:12OK, cool. Now I can go do whatever.
- 1:09:14Like, OK, yeah, so yeah, I mean, like, it's worth a shot.
- 1:09:20I don't know that I'm gonna watch it again.
- 1:09:22Personally, if they came out with a sequel, I'd put it on in
- 1:09:25a heartbeat. I'd give it a.
- 1:09:27Yeah. So, OK.
- 1:09:29And I would hope that it would be by the same director, Yeah, I
- 1:09:32think they deserve another chance because they've got, like
- 1:09:34I said, they've got the goods they just need.
- 1:09:37Especially they need to round it out some.
- 1:09:39Yeah, especially if this is their first, you know, like
- 1:09:43definitely potential there. I see a lot of potential in this
- 1:09:45person. Just, and I mean like, Dave
- 1:09:48Sheridan has spoken about this too.
- 1:09:49He's like a big believer in like indie films and like propping
- 1:09:53those people up. And the fact that, like he's
- 1:09:55involved in this tells me that, like, he probably sees that same
- 1:09:58kind of potential in the idea and then what they're capable of
- 1:10:01so. Yeah, him and Felisa both are
- 1:10:03like on a big indie horror tear. Yeah, that's where they live, it
- 1:10:08seems, Which is cool. I like that.
- 1:10:09I respect it. Yeah, Okay.
- 1:10:11Well, I think that's it for this one.
- 1:10:13Okay. Just a reminder on this week's
- 1:10:17main feed episode, we are going, it's not this is, it's the same
- 1:10:21feed as this. This is like our main.
- 1:10:23Our main episode, Main episode, Yeah.
- 1:10:24Not talking about Infinity Pool, another movie about white
- 1:10:28tourists. You don't give a fuck about the
- 1:10:29land and the rules of the land they're on, yeah.
- 1:10:33Completely different take on it though, so be on the lookout for
- 1:10:38that one. Yes, right until next. 10 Ohh
