- 0:04SPEAKER_01: Hi Ramon.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Hi Angelo.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: How are you today?
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: We're good.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: It's been a while since we've sat in these chairs.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Though you won't have noticed that.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Here we are.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Um one part of your lore is that you were a Sephora employee.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Sephora cast member.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: Cast member.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Do they treat it like are you in the cast of a movie or a play while you're there?
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Because it's live entertainment.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: A very, very scary movie.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Very scary.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: Kidding.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I loved it.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: It was a great experience.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: So okay, tell me a little more about that.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean I I forget the actual theme, uh, the reasoning for the theme behind it.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: But yeah, we are cast members.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: The store manager's called the store director.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: And it very much is this like play of sorts.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: But in store, you have the different departments.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So I was a color cast member.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So I worked in makeup.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And it's funny because people were like, Are you saying you're colored?
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, nope, no, no, no, no.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Color.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, there was color, there was skincare, there was cash wrap.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: That's what we call the like cash register.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And I was funny because I got hired because I was with friends shopping and I was walking them around the store because they they wanted help with makeup.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And I was helping them swatch product and we were like testing stuff out.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And I didn't realize the director was watching me the entire time.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: So before I left, they're like, Do you want a job?
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And I was like, sure.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: So you like this is so Hollywood.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: You got discovered.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And just like Hollywood, it was a horrible train wreck.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I cannot do makeup.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: I cannot do makeup.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And so the funny thing is, if you're watching this and I've ever had to do a makeover for you in store, I am genuinely so sorry.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: I could do complexion down.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I could color match clients from across the store.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I actually got hired on right before Fenty launched.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was like the unofficial like Fenty girl.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Like I could see people in the Fenty, I'd be like, try 165 on them.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: That would be the match.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Um, it was to the point where I was actually sent to other stores for like Fenty events to do makeup just because I love the brand so much.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Um, but I cannot do any eye makeup.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And that was 2017 era.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: So that was the era of the cut crease, the big lashes, the winged liner.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: So hard.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: So hard to do.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And I don't do any of that.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: And I fucked over so many makeover clients just because they were like, I want to do, I want to do this.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, you can pick one of those things.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And I still can't do it actually.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Well, okay, yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: I saw recently that they offer like different levels of like makeup services that you could get there.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Were you doing that on people?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Correct.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And this it's changed and it's evolved among uh it's evolved so much over the last almost 10 years.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Um, so I actually do not know how they do it and how they uh actually categorize things now.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: But back then it was just you could book a 45-minute makeover.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: The kind the incentive was the client would hopefully buy a basket's worth of items, but that was never an obligation.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And yeah, they for 45 minutes, they were in your chair.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Damn.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: But also in those 45 minutes, you have to consult with the client.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: What do they want?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: You have to run around the store and grab all the products, assess what's going to work best for them, hope to God that nothing goes wrong during that makeover.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: It always did for me.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Nothing goes wrong during that makeover because 45 minutes is not a lot.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Even for just like the most basic face, I still take 20, 25 minutes.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: I'm like imagining what happens if you're towards the end of your 45 minutes and like everything starts pilling on the person.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: And that's happened.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: That's a she emergency.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I've had girls, not even me.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: I've seen girls like my fellow cast mates, towards the end of it, the minute they start to finalize the details of like the lashes and the liner, the clients start crying, ruin the entire base.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Or imagine you get to the end, the client's like, Oh, I actually don't like my makeup.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: So, but that being said, uh working SF4 was also one of the most fun experiences of my life.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: And it was the crash course, and I'm very great, very, very grateful for this.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: It was a crash course of understanding the marketing behind products, working with brand reps and understanding how they're tasked to sell products and understanding what clients want, how they shop and store, how it is that they look and touch and feel and experience products.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: So I was very grateful for that.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And it's played a huge part into what we do now.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so many of my insights about skincare come from my um experience working as a beauty advisor in like one of those fancy CVSs when they were trying to bring in all the French skincare and realizing like you can put all of this information in front of people, but the first thing they're gonna do is like pick up the jar, open it, and smell it.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Even even now, when I'm in a lab and I'm doing uh product development stuff, formulation, I'm sampling things, the first thing I do, take it, swatch it on my hand, smell.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: It's important, yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, the user experience is key because you want people to be able to be consistent, especially with skincare.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Um, color is like, well, of course, you always want people to be consistent because you want them to repurchase, but it's it's just so important.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: And I think maybe it was even more important back then because this was pre everybody being into certain ingredients and the ingredient being like the top thing and the name and all of this stuff.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Or you could even now spend so much time just like going through people's reviews, saying how they feel, like their thoughts.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: This, yeah, back in the day, you were lucky if you had a blog entry.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Or um makeup alley.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Have you heard of this?
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there are product reviews on that.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Wait, did it go under?
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I heard about this, there was like something about it, but there were like 20-year-old product reviews on there.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Like people, they really index shit from the beginning of the internet, basically.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: That's makeup history right there.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: So now when we go shopping, does like are you kind of like informed by your experience as a cast member?
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Like, does that instill any shopper etiquette in you?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, to some degree, and this is with any, we live in a society, capitalism reigns free.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Um, the incentive for the employees is always how can you build a basket?
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And with that is, we were trained like walk by clients, see where they're looking at.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Um, whenever anyone walks in, it was always try to hand them a basket.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: And then as they're shopping, assess what they have, see what they're looking at, and try to build upon that, increase the amount of products in their basket um to satisfy whatever their end goal was, whether it's a full look, a skincare routine, that kind of vibe.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: So I understand that now.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And I mean, my big thing is I'm like, I'm just here looking.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Like, I you don't know who I am, but I'm good.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Trust me on that.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Um, but I understand, I have a little bit more sympathy for them.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think I don't do a ton of in-person shopping anymore, and especially for beauty, because we get so much PR.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: I do find myself shopping still because there are some PR lists I'm not on.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Um, but which we'll discuss.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: But I got beef about that.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: Usually I'm like, I don't want to talk to somebody.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: That's just me though, because obviously I know what I know, and uh there's something about like shopping with my headphones in and just being in my own world.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I was actually in a big department store yesterday, like I heard smelling fragrances.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, you heard?
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: I heard.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: I got cited by several people while I was there because you know, I go into the beauty section and that's my people.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: So, um, but I was like avoiding the counters that had people at them because I was like, I don't want to talk to you.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, employees.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: We get it.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: You have to make your sales.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I totally do understand that.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: But I mean, just like it should be one of those things where it's like, you know, when you like book an Uber and it's like, what kind of ride do you want?
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Talkative, quiet, like I always want quiet.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: I don't want talkative.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: That kind of situation we do need.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: I actually do prefer to have employees available.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: That's my one beef with Ulta is there's never anyone when I actually need someone.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Oh at Sephora, there's a lot of people, and I'm always very grateful for that.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: My whole thing with the fragrance is like you literally have people standing over the testers.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: It's like if you're in the area, great.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Like if I need you or say hi, great, whatever.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: I'll say hi back, I'll like chit-chat, but I'm like, I don't want to be walking up and like doing my thing of like opening every single bottle and smelling all of them because that's what I do.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: I want to see what I like, um, and having your head like in front of me.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: And it's really funny because being on the other end of it, fragrance is the most shoplifted item in stores.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: And so a big part of that is secure.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: I've had in being in store, I've seen people literally walk in, beeline into the fragrance counter or the fragrance section, grab as many bottles as they can and try to run out as fast as possible.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: So that's another thing with the shopping experience now.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: It's like in my tenure in retail, it's like I even saw a lot of that.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Um, and there used to be more of an emphasis on loss prevention.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: But I think it was the like somebody high up at Walgreens said that um them making their store too secure has resulted in lower sales.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: So, like, speaking of the drugstore, especially in urban areas like here in New York, it's like I don't want to shop in a drugstore for beauty anymore because everything is behind glass, literally everything.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: And because we live in a society of capitalism, they have gone down to the most bare bone staffing possible.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: So you're standing, and for me, it's always, it's always the antiperspirant aisle.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: I'm standing there waiting 10 minutes because they have one poor employee.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: It's always a Walgreens or a Dwayne Reed or a CVS, one employee just running around everywhere because everywhere in the store, because everything's under lock and key, they're running around trying to go to everyone that's needing help to get items that are behind a glass.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: It's inconvenient.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: And if I tell, if I could tell you pharmacy chains anything, it's staff up too, because I've definitely been in a situation where it's like I need to grab something quick.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: It's behind glass, and the line at the register is crazy.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: And this is why Amazon's taking your business.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: But that being said, too, is theft will not be the end of your multi-billion dollar corporation.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Also, antiperspirant does not need to cost$10 anymore.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Toothpaste is toothpaste is so expensive.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, uh, prices are an issue everywhere.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: But what I will say is that I know that these companies, you know, they put some room in their budgets for what they call shrink, which is like basically anything that disappears from your inventory for any reason.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: I'm familiar with shrink.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: This kind.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: We're so irritating.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: But maybe budget more because like people are gonna come in and shop and spend more time and look at stuff and take stuff off the shelf and read it and potentially buy it.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I can't buy if I can't grab it.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: If I'm waiting too long, I am leaving.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you will lose me.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: That being said, Sephora, great experience.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Changed a lot.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: When you go to shop at Sephora, what's your routine?
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, most often picture it.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Picture it.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: Me and Sephora Studio in Williamsburg.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: That's menace.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: That's like my number one Sephora store for some reason.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: I didn't like that one.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Whenever it's small, but whenever I like end up over there, I'm like, eh, I may as well.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: The Gaggie's one for me is uh Harold Square.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, I've never been to that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Find the randomest shit there.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: I know like some of the assortments and some of them are like huge.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I go in.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Usually I'm looking at makeup, if I'm honest, or hair, because skincare, like I said, the amount of PR I get, like, I don't need to be shocked.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Me buying actual skincare products, it's like maybe I buy two, three things per year.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: To Angela's point, I'm not on a lot of PR lists like that.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So I I do still go and assess skincare.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: I'll be I'll be lining through skincare, just be like, who's here?
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: What's new?
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: What's happening?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: But I do that as I'm walking towards hair care.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: I take that back.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: I buy more than two or three things per year.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: I buy two or three things per year for personal use and then other stuff to review.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: That's separate.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: That's for the content.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: Okay, that goes on the business account IRS.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: My favorite thing to do is walk the end caps.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Ooh, okay, yeah.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: So tell me about the end caps.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: What are they usually putting there?
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Uh so sometimes uh back in the day, end caps were category focused, so like, oh, here's new cleansers, or here's really fun, clean products.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Nowadays I use that as a means of highlighting new and upcoming brands.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: For example, the brand isn't as large to warrant a full gondola.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: So here's a highlight of them here on an end cap, or they're a new brand to Sephora.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: So their space requirement is like this much.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: So we'll have them on an end cap.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Um, I remember back when Denessa Myrix forgotten to first got into a store, she was featured solely on a little NCAP and it was only her little like paints.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Look where she's at now.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Uh Callie Ray is on an NCAP, and now Cyclar being new to Sephora, I feel like that's their highlight area is you have the full array of Cyclar on an N.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: You have the full array of Cyclar on an end cap.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Slay.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: So it's just like really quick focus items because when you're at like the full-length gondolas, it can be a lot.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And sometimes you're not even fully stocked.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: I yeah, I don't know.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: I get a little bit overwhelmed by all the shades of everything sometimes.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: And I have a weird thing with testers.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Like I don't like testing a bunch of stuff.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm sorry, it's touched so much skin.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: So have I.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: But in a very different way.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: But also it's like cooking on those lights sometimes.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Baking, glimmering.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: It's it's been reduced down to a really rich sauce of lip gloss.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: I don't know what well, yeah.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: I'll look, I'll browse.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: I think they have a really good return policy too.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: I never return anything.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Even if I don't like it, I don't return it because I'm lazy.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I'll just like give it to someone.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: If it didn't work for me, it's gonna work for someone else.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: So like my pro my products that I'm giving away that I already tested and like either didn't work for me or like I'm just not gonna empty it because I have to review something else.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: It's like I have a box of just like the stuff that I'm gonna give to my family members.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: They get the stuff that's been already opened.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: And touch things that have been inoculated.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because we're families.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: So it's like our microbiome when you hear your family.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: My microbiome came from them anyway.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of like heartwarming when you think about it.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Well, uh, I don't know if this is podcast appropriate, but they say you get a lot of your microbiome when you go through the canal.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: I never did though.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: So you don't have a microbiome.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: It's like not having a soul.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Well, I do have a microbiome.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: We all can we prove that.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: What call the lab up, test it out.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, could you imagine if somebody was just like totally sterile on their skin?
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Why imagine?
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: Let's get them dirty.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, last question.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, what's been your most favorite and least favorite Sephora purchase recently?
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, recently.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: The um right now I'm wearing the Cali Ray brow gel.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: It's like a clear brow gel.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: It really does hold.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: Like at the end of the night, when I'm cleansing, like you see it like crumple off of your lashes.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: Like it's like a film, really.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: And um a lot of these lash, not lash, uh sorry, brow products, have like um weird like combs on them.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: This one has a comb that flips out, it's a tiny comb, but it's like a good comb.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: It's not too big.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: It really like gets between the hairs so that you could like lay everything down nicely.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Because I think sometimes it's like they give you all these freaking apparatuses on these things that I'm like, my brow is not that thick.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: So why would you give me a comb that big?
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Because then I can't see what I'm doing because the comb is giant.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Maybe I'm poking myself in the eye.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: Um, it's treacherous sometimes.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: It's a bro jail, girl.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what's okay, and then my least favorite.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, this like Givenchy highlighter.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: I think I showed this to you that it's like nothing shows up on your skin.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: I paid with for that with my own money.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Like, and I was kind of pissed.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: Maybe I need to dig in there to really get it out, but it looks chalky, but like also doesn't but you shouldn't be you shouldn't be having to dig in the product for like effect.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: Payoff, yeah.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I am a fan of like that old style makeup where it's like a very buildable and looks very natural, but like you can go overboard if you want.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Like, that's why I like so much of like Chanel's color offering, because it's like it could look really natural or I'm diva.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you like cake it on.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: This stuff though, it's like I was like working and working and working in there, and it's like there's no highlight.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: How about you?
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: This wasn't exactly a purchase, but it wasn't PR either.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: A friend of mine gave it to me because she just had extra.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: And you recommended it, the Fenty curl gel, the curl cream.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Ah, the home curl.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: She's actually really, really good.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: I'm kind of mad about it.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: And my thing is it holds it has really good hold, but on the rinse out, if I choose not to wash my hair that night, my as I can feel it as it's rinsing out.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: My hair feels so conditioned after.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: It's so nice.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: So I don't know how it works for like uh like tighter curled patterns, but for like wavy to like loose curls, very, very good, very cute.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Um, most purchased item, and I will still purchase it to this day.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: The milk kush brow, the tinted brow gel.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: My favorite.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: I've gone through like four of those in the last two years.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: That's so hard to work with.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: It it's a learning curve, I will admit that, but it's my favorite brow gel.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: I have it on right now.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: And one of those will last you again.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: I've gone through four of them.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: I've gone through four of them in like two plus years.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: It just takes forever to go through them because you need such a little amount.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: It's it's the tubing one.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: It's like that stuff solidifies quickly.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: And if you don't comb through it fast, you're like Well, that's the thing is like I basically do the lightest little touch first.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I do brow, brow, mustache, mustache.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: And then as the brows are setting, that's when I go back and I reverse comb, recomb to build up the density in the holds.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: This process.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: There's levels to this shit.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Professional.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: And then my least favorite, the cyclar deodorant.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: I'm so sorry.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: That shit does not work for me.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's a lot of these like, oh, liquid roll on, and they're like, we put mantelic acid in here.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, it smells nice.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: I'm a person, like, I don't generally smell.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: I do.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't sweat a ton either.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: So it's like usually, I don't know, I'll put my antiperspirant on the night before, which is unscented.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Right now I'm using the VC one.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm like, I don't really need anything the next day, but like if you want to smell good, I'll put something like that on.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: And that's it.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: I I think I really wanted to test its ability and see how it worked.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: So I didn't do anti-perspirant the night before.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Go within an hour and a half.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: It was hot in New York, I will admit that.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Disgusting.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And it's like it's not working.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: I am sweating.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: I'm starting to smell, and it's mixing with the smell of it was the vanilla verve one.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: It was not cute.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: It was really not cute.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: Vanilla Bio.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Literally.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: Funny enough though, my husband also doesn't like that one, but he loves a cyclar one.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Not cyclar, uh, he loves a saltire one.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: They're so similar.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Similar.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Surprise, surprise.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: It texture-wise, yeah.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: The cyclar one technically uses a little bit more.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: They have something called shakimic acid, which is an additional uh like deodorizing acid to Mandelic that the saltire one isn't.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: So we're going to Sephora.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Come with us.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: The Sephora sale.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: Sephora savings event.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Excuse me.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: The savings event is upon us.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Today we're talking strategy, we're talking product recommendations, and we're talking all things shopping this savings event.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: It comes around twice per year.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Um so the main thing to know, all of the well, okay, first, this is not sponsored.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: We we both work with the brand semi-regularly, but this is not a sponsored episode.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: So we're giving you the real tea.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: Um, the Sephora collection is 30% off.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: And then depending on your tier in their loyalty program, you get a different discount.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: I believe if you're just part of it, it's 10%.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: If you're VIB, it's 15 and Rouge, you get 20.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Um people have pointed out before that this may not be the biggest discount that you can get on some of these products.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: And what I found is that a lot of these um brands will also run their own sales at the same time.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: That maybe they'll give you a little extra gift with purchase, or they have a more like varied discount structure.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: So, for instance, last year during the Sephora sale, like I stocked up on Charlotte Tilbury from Charlotte Tilbury because like they were running some like deals and throwing in free stuff and whatever.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Um, so I would say obviously comparison shop.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: It's a great time to try new stuff that they carry.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: And I think one of the great things about Sephora is that they obviously have exclusives.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: They have some exclusive products, exclusive gift sets.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: I think this savings event in October is a great time.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: If you like giving gift sets as gifts or buying them for yourself, great time to do that because discounts stack too.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: Um, we've talked before on the show about things that go on sale all the time, um, especially stuff that they're trying to clear out is already on sale.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: You get a discount off that sale price.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: So it's like compounding the discount.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: So it's a great time to save for that.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: What's your usual strategy?
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: For me, it's always what am I restocking on?
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: We talked about in the opening how there's PR lists I'm not on.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: And there's this stuff that I actively do use, do empty, do um, want to repurchase.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: And so I'm like, I'm gonna buy it in bulk by now.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Um, but also I'm I'm not gonna say I'm easily influenced, but I always look at what my friends really like, what they're really loving, and that's my opportunity to be like, you know what, let me just grab it while I'm here.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Case in point, I have yet to use any of the Edom lip balms.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: They had sent me the whole line once, and I used it, and I remember liking it.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: That that has been the lip balm for the girls for a minute, and I have yet to really try them.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: They've really been in the uh the conversation recently because of oh yeah.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: People, but yeah, no, nice lip balm for sure.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: I like their skincare, their cashmere milk.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: She's cute, or cashmere peel.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, no, that that actually is a cute product too that I've tried.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Um, what I tend to stock up on is hair products because most of this I don't know why my hair just likes expensive things a lot of the time.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Dream coat, colorwow or colorwell, drink coat.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and so those are PR lists that I'm quite often not on.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: So usually it's like there's some aura bay in my basket, or if I'm trying to try something new hair care wise, I'm always like restocking on like kerastas for my baby.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what she uses kerastas, your your your child would.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Um and you're like, and she has to use Chanel, it's not her fault.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: She's French.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, I did buy her the Hermes baby perfume, but she insists on wearing mine.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: So anyway, anyways, to Angela's point, I am not on a lot of makeup PR.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: I'm not I'm actually not on any makeup PR.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: So I always look at what people are liking.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: I really want to get the new Mario foundation.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Gaga dropped new bronzers.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: I saw about that too.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: Also uh the new Fenty Foundation.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: I want to get matched in that so bad.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: And then fragrance.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Fragrance, commodity, cyclore.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: My most empty fragrance still is uh Kayali Vanilla 28.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: And I'll never buy the full size, I only ever get the trouble size.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: I, you know what?
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: One thing that's on my list this year, Byreto just came to Sephora.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: Um, so like I have a few fragrances from them that I want to purchase.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, it's a good time to buy fragrance.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Speaking of fragrance and gifts, also a good time to buy my iPad, my coconut.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: Also, a very good time to buy, Sephora does these sampling sets, good as a gift to yourself, but also a gift to give to people.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: And there's like multiple of them, but you basically buy this sample set, you have all these samples of different fragrances, and you get a voucher for a full size.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: It's super worth it.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: So if you want to buy somebody a fragrance gift, but you don't know what to get for them, that's a great option because they get to choose their own.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I think also like other gift sets, I'm like looking at what they have already.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: No, and like some of it is already on sale.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: So like Shark Beauty, their like depuffy uh hot and cold therapy, and their cryoglow mask, which I like that mask for sure, um, already on sale.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're and then if they keep that on sale into the savings event, you get like an additional discount.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: So a good time to save on devices too.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Um, or even like styling tools.
- 27:02SPEAKER_01: Like, I think I bought my Dyson hairdryer, the Supersonic R.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: It was during the Sephora savings event, but Dyson made theirs a little bit cheaper in like a less popular color way.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: So that's what I'm saying about shopping around.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Sometimes these brands are like undercutting.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: Um, it these aren't on sale yet, but they're already advertising a lot of their sets or gift sets for the holiday.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: A lot of really cool hair ones.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: Olaplex, I feel like Olaplex is the one brand a lot of people really use and are very dedicated to.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: Stock up now what you can.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Dr.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Groot, new to Sephora.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be so honest.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: I don't love I don't love the scents of the Dr.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: Groot products, but they're very popular right now.
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: I just tried their, they're calling it a scalp something, but it's really like a lamellar water.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: And I love lamellar water, but it freaked me the hell out because it goes on as liquid and then turns into an entire like conditioner or something.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Like I don't know how it happens.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Like it's in one of those like little nozzle bottles that you're supposed to put on your scalp, and it feels like lamellar water.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: It gets warm like it, but then it gets super thick.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: And I liked it.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: I can't argue with it.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: So interesting, Dr.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Groot, who I don't think is a real doctor.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: Not not even a real person, I believe.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: Even though they have a photo of like an old timey man.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: He's like a fake doctor, like McSteamy.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Or McDreamy.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: Or in this case, McCreamy.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: Um, Way, my favorite discovery this year has been the Whey detoxifying shampoo.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: I hated it.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: I love the way it foams, I love the way it feels, I love the way it smells.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: There's a gift set for it.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Anov, U-N-O-V-E.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: It's a Korean hair care brand.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: I've loved it for a few years.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: They're now it's a for.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: They have a great gift set.
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: Um, if we're talking hair, I usually use this time to stock up on my Alterna Caviar CC cream, which you still haven't tried.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: You should.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: Um, also uh Alterna makes a good clarifying shampoo that I prefer to the whey.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Yes, I haven't used it yet.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: I was thinking Living Proof, actually.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: They have some good shit I'd buy.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: I have to try some of their stuff.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: I've been on the PR list, but their detox shampoo is amazing.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: They have a oh, what's it called?
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: I get them confused with Lola V because of the Jenna Aniston connection.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: What's her connection to Living Proof?
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: I think she was involved with that at some or she was uh Is that where they're like all like silicone free, clean?
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: The Living Proof triple bond complex, I swear by that.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: My one beef with Living Proof, though, I don't love the sense.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: So Jenna Aniston had a ownership stake in Living Proof that she sold to Unilever in 2016.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: From the recesses of this messed up brain, I remember that.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: I'm not checking for her.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: I'm not either really, but like if you like the K18 dry shampoo, our friend Rachel, hydration CEO, was hyping up the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day dry shampoo mist.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: What's interesting about that is on top of uh oil absorbing uh powders, there is a micellar con component to the formulation as well.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: So it's like actively cleansing as well.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Guess what?
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: I tried it once and I liked it.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: And any other like wet dry shampoo, if you don't know what I mean, these things are liquids and regular pump bottles, they're not like aerosolized.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Pooters.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: They're not pooters.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: Um, usually I hate them.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: I did not like the K18 airwash, but the Living Proof I liked.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: The thing is, once you get past some of their clean and like weird anti-silicone stuff, Living Proof, the science and the testing behind the products.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: I've gotten to see a glimpse behind all of that.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: It's really, really interesting.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: The innovation is there.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Um, the uh Day uh Cactus Fruit 3 in 1 styling cream taming wand.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: Love day.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: I love the smells for Day.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Uh the smells are good.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: I do like that fly away taming wand, and I use it to like recurl my curls sometimes.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: Great pick.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Uh Ceremonia is one of my favorite hair brands.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: I like the I'm very sensory focused, and Ceremonia, their guava line is one of my favorites.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: I specifically like their the heat protectant spray.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: Um, Summer Fridays does a lot of gift sets that may be coming out.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: So that's that's a nice gift.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: Um, especially the lip butters.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: Like they're very they're good.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: They're great, they're really great lip balms.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: They come in all different like flavors and stuff.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: Nobody's gonna argue with that.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: Um I'm just like going through right now and seeing everything that they're gonna do.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: We're just building our baskets together.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: Oh, they have a travel duo.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: This would make a good gift of Loxiton's uh Almond Sublime uh body oil body oil cleanser and the uh shea butter hand cream, which is one of my favorite hand creams.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: That's a great gift.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: Is there anything new you're gonna be trying?
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Again, the Fenty Foundation, the guy why is the four not working right now?
- 32:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, something went wrong.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: It's not working for me either.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: Is the site down?
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: We've been comprom literally, it just went down.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: Are you fucking kidding?
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Oh my access denied.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: Wait, maybe it's because of this Wi-Fi.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: Tutu beep beep.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, my new vocal stem right now?
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Tutu's my word, fam?
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Have you seen those videos?
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: No.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: The Toronto accent.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, so he's a Gerber.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: If you get bored, okay.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: No, we got blocked because we were both on the Wi-Fi searching it.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: They think we're doing fraudulent activity.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: Girl.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, can I?
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: Baby, this is free promotion.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: Have I tried too much stuff?
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: I'm like, nothing new is really piquing my interest.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: I should try POV.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Wait, actually, maybe this is our time to test POV.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: We're going to Sephora.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: I'm not even.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Here's the deal.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: The product could be great.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm critical of every brand that starts, that just does not need to exist.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: I've talked about Brad Pitt's line.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: What should people not buy?
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Do you think?
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: This is kind of like a weird subjective objective thing is I do not think buying really affordable brands during the Sephora sale is worth it.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: Like going for the ordinary and inky lists, because I think the prices themselves are so low, and I think you'd actually get more savings, like Angela says, on their website or even at Ulta than you would at Sephora.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: Like I don't think that warrants the like I said, I would definitely comparison shop and see what the brands are offering directly, especially indie brands, because like it helps so much.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: As an owner of an indie brand, it helps us so much, you know, to go direct.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Not that my brand is carried in any retailers, but I know what that looks like yet.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: Um, so yeah, I would say definitely take a look at least, see what's out there price-wise.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: I also think um minis.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: Not worth it.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: For me, if I'm going in to buy it on sale, and if it's something that I don't really well, I don't really buy travel sizes of things.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: I'll take them.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: I'll take them if they're like given as like the reward for something at like the at your checkout that I love.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, also check out those offers for the rewards.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: Um, but yeah, in general, the price that you're paying for something so small, like the per volume price, no idea, it's generally not worth it.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: I understand if there's like a full size and then a jumbo size, if you're just trying it, not buying the jumbo size first.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: That makes sense, but yeah.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: What else did I buy recently?
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, if you're looking at Sephora Collection, um, what would you buy from Sephora Collection?
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: Their brushes.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: I was about to say love their brushes.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: Also, I mean, their skincare is really, really good.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: They have a great cleanser, great micellar water, um, their serums, nothing like super, super high octane.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: I think they're really approachable for like most skin types.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: Um, makeup wise, makeup wise.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: I think Sephora Collection is they offer a lot of comparable dupes to other products in store as well.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: Um, some of their complexion products are really good.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think um I second the brushes.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: I re recently bought their brush cleanser, which is like really useful and like comes in a big size.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: And if you're getting a 30% off, it's like kind of a no-brainer.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, K Beauty is now a really hot topic in stores.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: A lot of really cool things there.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: Biodance, one of the hot brands.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: They have a couple gift sets.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: Laneige lip.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Obviously, very viral.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: It's probably the first time people could get like um Marc Jacobs Beauty on sale since it relaunched.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Um, what else am I seeing that I haven't tried?
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: I haven't tried anything from Hung Van Go.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: I might do that.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: Ooh, uh Mary Phillips.
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: I really want to try the underpainting palette.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Chris McMillan hair.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: That is a brand I want to try.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: I haven't tried yet.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: I wasn't a fan.
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Uh also linked to Jennifer Aniston.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: She dips her toes everywhere.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Well, no, he's her hairstylist.
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: He he made the Rachel haircut in the 90s.
- 36:57SPEAKER_01: It's Chris McMillan.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: Where's his statue?
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: Where is he on Matt Rushmore?
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: Where's Chris McMillan's statue?
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: Why isn't he on a dollar bill?
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: I guess Road, if you really want to get into Road, they have a couple gift sets.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: I actually am using their little Cody bronzer.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: She's cute.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: I did not like it.
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: Nor did I like the I left over two sides of the same coin.
- 37:20SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I love it.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: You're like, I fucking hate it.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: It was the worst thing I've ever tried in my life.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Patchy, I don't understand all the plastic.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't like the packaging part.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: But patchy wear.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know how hard you had to work for that, but I I really am a clean girl aesthetic.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: I just did literally take take it.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: I dip the brush in and then I I are you swiping it on?
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: I tried both ways.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, I never I never take a cream product straight to the face.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: I hate doing that too, but I said I'm gonna test it out the way that the girlies are doing it.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: And the thing is because they're not even putting concealer on, they're just straight on the skin.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: Well, do you think it's because texturally it spreads better, or just like it looks that way because there's no other makeup on?
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: There's no makeup on.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: It's still patchy.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: I can't really.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: I will say though, things work for me when they don't work for other people, and I don't know why that is.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, another thing that people bring up is like, okay, Dior during the Sephora sale, you will get a discount, but then on their own site, they have some limited edition stuff and they like give you a gift with purchase and whatever.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: Sorry to say, like the gifts with purchase that you're getting from like Chanel or Dior during the holidays, it's like that's not actual like Chanel and Dior like makeup cases and stuff.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: Like it's branded, but it's like it's not made by the fashion house because like that's a totally different entity than who does the beauty, and it's like you know, uh cheapish stuff.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: But if like you need a bag that says Chanel um or Dior, but like for me, it's like if I'm buying for myself, I will buy Dior makeup during the Sephora sales event because um I'd rather just save the money.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: Prada beauty.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: How do you feel about that?
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: I have an itch to try the blush.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: I've tried the lip products, they're okay.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: I actually haven't gotten into any like the Lux Lux makeup.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: I haven't done Dior, I haven't done Gucci, I haven't done Prada.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, let me make some recommendations then.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: Um, the Dior foundation stick.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: Awesome.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: The I have like a little like highlighter palette from Dior that's nice.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: What else did I like?
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: Their old backstage foundation, which I think is gone.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: And the bottle?
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's I was in store when that first launched, and that was like the foundation for everyone.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: I'm surprised he got rid of that.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: Reformulating like everybody else.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah, I could go on and on about Chanel makeup, but they don't sell at Sephora, so not relevant.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: Did they?
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: No, it's Europe.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: They have it in Sephora Europe, right?
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: They're in Ulta here.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: That's why I said Ulta has like it's like you could get Cera V, you could get Chanel.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: There's room for everyone.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Apparently.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: Let's see what's best selling in skincare right now.
- 40:28SPEAKER_00: I can tell you that right now.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: Do instant angel.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, they have a limited edition duo of the road pocket blush and lip peptide.
- 40:37SPEAKER_00: That's what I was saying.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Uh the Edem Le Shou Shoe Palm.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: That's another bestseller.
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: That's why I we started the episode with that.
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: Um Clarence Double Serum.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: I love that product.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Pharmacy Honey Halo.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: Um, my mother's favorite moisturizer and a good one for people with dry skin.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: Nourishing.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: Good pickup.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: Uh Summer Friday's lip balm is at the top.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: Also, a little Summer Friday set of like lip butterball minis.
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: Perfect.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: Reusable.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: Are these reusable?
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: The road peptide eye patches?
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: Just kidding.
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: They're not?
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: I don't think they are.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: No.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: For$25.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: $25 for how many?
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: Six pairs.
- 41:19unknown: Ugh.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: Just to have the road print under your eyes?
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: They're not reusable.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: What?
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: They're not reusable.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: No, most of these aren't.
- 41:28unknown: Dr.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Dart Ceramidin.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: Love her.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, the road glazing milk, I like.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: That's also up there.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Ulah Hendrickson strength trainer.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: It's caught strength trainer peptide boost moisturizer.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Peace out.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: They're acne duo.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: They're still around.
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: They make good stuff.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: They had a good mask.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: It's interesting to see what people buy.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: Because I'm like, some of this stuff you haven't heard about in a long time, but it's got staying power.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: I think it's we haven't heard from it in a long time, but because we heard for it a lot back then, people they tried it and then they stuck with it.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: Tatcha water cream, very nice moisturizer.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: A lot of my friends, in and out of content, they love Tatcha.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: It's high quality product.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: It really is.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: Uh Topicals High Roller.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: One of my favorite topicals products.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Um, ingrown hair tonic.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: Azoleic acid.

- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Ooh, is Din.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: Isdin.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: I like the formulas a lot.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: They are pricier as well.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: But the tinted one, the Aerie Fatona one, she's cute.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: They're at Sephora.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they launched Sephora like two years ago.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: See, like there's all these brands at Sephora that I just have no idea.

- 43:49SPEAKER_01: I may have.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: Shiseido.

- 44:03SPEAKER_01: So what will you be picking up at the Sephora sale?
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Or will you not be shopping?
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Clearly, we have a lot of things that we like that we will be picking up ourselves.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: For example, Cyclar, they have her new sense, their sex must.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: Musk.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: Whatever.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: And it's a must.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Sess musk.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: It's an online exclusive at Sephora only.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: Really?
