- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists
- 0:08Speaker 1: this week. Emmy, Grammy, Oscar Tony. These are people's names.
- 0:15Speaker 1: They're also the names of awards you can get in Hollywood.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And if you score all four, well, my friend, that's
- 0:22Speaker 1: called an egot.
- 0:23Speaker 2: There are fifteen egotters on record, but we found four
- 0:27Speaker 2: more who you might not know. These people excelled in television, film,
- 0:33Speaker 2: broadway and music and they're coming here today to talk
- 0:36Speaker 2: to you about how they did it and show you
- 0:40Speaker 2: whether you can do or not. Let's listen in.
- 0:47Speaker 3: This is incredible, wow show.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Wonderful to be here. I love recording in this studio.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Have you guys been here before?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I've never fucking been here. No, not my fucking life.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I wouldn't know.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Sometimes I see it on the call sheet where I
- 1:01Speaker 4: have to go, and my wife will go, you've been
- 1:02Speaker 4: there before.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Your wife knows all your your shoe locations.
- 1:07Speaker 6: Yeah, no, I have not been here before.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Okay, it's that famous song.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I mean, we're for people that did something very few
- 1:20Speaker 2: other people have done. So it's pretty fucking amazing to
- 1:23Speaker 2: be together.
- 1:23Speaker 1: It is amazing, and it also I don't know if
- 1:25Speaker 1: you guys feel this way. It is like I don't
- 1:28Speaker 1: feel they need to prove myself at all anymore because
- 1:31Speaker 1: we've by all recorded metrics. We have one.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, Like they don't say Holly, they don't really
- 1:37Speaker 6: say Hollywood is filled with winners. But we are the
- 1:40Speaker 6: winners of Hollywood. If there was a competition, we want it.
- 1:43Speaker 6: We want them all.
- 1:44Speaker 2: We're the best of the best. We deserve a place
- 1:47Speaker 2: to sit at every restaurant.
- 1:48Speaker 3: But we're humble.
- 1:49Speaker 1: We're humble. We're humble, and I want to keep it
- 1:52Speaker 1: humble always.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Of course, of course, Well.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Do we want to go in and introduce ourselves or what?
- 1:57Speaker 4: I would love for everyone to say their name and
- 2:00Speaker 4: then also what they want in every category?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Easy? Yes, yes, she's easy to do.
- 2:04Speaker 4: I know you probably get asked that every day, but
- 2:08Speaker 4: I'd love.
- 2:08Speaker 3: To just hear it.
- 2:10Speaker 6: Well, I'll go first, I guess, because I feel like
- 2:12Speaker 6: I'm the youngest one here. What's up? My name is
- 2:16Speaker 6: the Dustin and I am a twenty four year old
- 2:21Speaker 6: you got winner. You might know me mostly for my Grammys.
- 2:27Speaker 6: We went triple platinum on my album it self titled
- 2:30Speaker 6: The Dustin the Dustin. It's kind of like a pop
- 2:34Speaker 6: ballad thing and we kind of sweeped. It was awesome.
- 2:37Speaker 6: And then because of that, I got a sweet guest
- 2:40Speaker 6: star on the newest teen show called Blues Bluesphoria, and
- 2:46Speaker 6: I kind of sweep there too, weird. Then I got
- 2:49Speaker 6: in my Oscar for my music. Well it was actually
- 2:55Speaker 6: Oscar Tony. They used one of my songs in a
- 2:58Speaker 6: Disney movie and that won me Best Original Song in
- 3:01Speaker 6: Oscar and the Best Original Song a Tony. So yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 6: I guess twenty four hit it big, but you know,
- 3:09Speaker 6: we like to stay humble.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, incredible. I'm starstruck.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I feel looking at a fucking embryo. He's so young
- 3:19Speaker 2: looking at a fucking embryo. A leather jacket on a
- 3:23Speaker 2: leather jacket more hardware than a freaking home depot.
- 3:27Speaker 6: Thanks guys, Thanks, that means a lot.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yes, all right, Well hello everyone. I'm Sarah McDonald and
- 3:34Speaker 1: I am an actress. I've been on stage and screen
- 3:38Speaker 1: for many, many, many years. At this point, it's it's
- 3:44Speaker 1: funny to look back. It's been it's been a long time.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I've lived through many presidential administrations and so uh oh gosh,
- 3:53Speaker 1: which one came first? I believe it was. Yes, it
- 3:57Speaker 1: was the Tony that came first. I did. I was
- 4:00Speaker 1: the originator of the role of Starfish.
- 4:05Speaker 5: In The Little Undersea.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Wench on Broadway, and that was a big breakout role
- 4:14Speaker 1: for really auto representation. There wasn't a lot of back then.
- 4:18Speaker 1: There wasn't a lot of songs for altos to sing,
- 4:21Speaker 1: then their college auditions and whatnot. So I believe I'm
- 4:24Speaker 1: a pioneer in that way. And then there was the
- 4:27Speaker 1: Oscar adaptation of that movie, and then following that I
- 4:33Speaker 1: got the Grammy for it was the audio book retrospective
- 4:40Speaker 1: of playing the Starfish in Hendshon. Grammy, yes, for Best
- 4:47Speaker 1: Audiobook Recording. And you know, the Emmy was the hardest
- 4:50Speaker 1: to get. I will say the Emmy was the hardest
- 4:53Speaker 1: to get.
- 4:53Speaker 6: If you don't come from TV, it can be pretty tricky.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Right, well, do you come from TV.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Where you come from, You'll come straight from your mother's wounds.
- 5:03Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You don't have to prove it, Like I said, you won,
- 5:08Speaker 1: You've already won.
- 5:09Speaker 6: Well we're okay.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Don't try to sell the product after the already body.
- 5:12Speaker 6: I'm not saying this is just my personality. Don't try.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Hard to believe look uh, and so I had to
- 5:20Speaker 1: get the Emmy somehow, so I had to pull a
- 5:21Speaker 1: lot of strings. Luckily I was able to book a
- 5:25Speaker 1: pilot called uh Tuesdays at the Apartment with Friends, And
- 5:31Speaker 1: we really really drove hard at that campaign to UH
- 5:36Speaker 1: get me a to get me an Emmy for that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: But eventually I did. Yes, So we would only went
- 5:41Speaker 1: for one episode, but we strong armed the Emmy committee
- 5:45Speaker 1: in such an aggressive way. But I had to. I
- 5:49Speaker 1: knew I would. I had to.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Get that fourth piece of hardware at that time, you know.
- 5:55Speaker 1: So luckily we did, but I think I deserved it.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I think I had some funny lines in. There was
- 6:00Speaker 1: a wonderful scene where I came in wrapped in bubba rap,
- 6:03Speaker 1: going oh no, and then I toppled to the ground.
- 6:06Speaker 6: That was the.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Footage we sent to every ermy Academy voter anyway.
- 6:11Speaker 5: And here we are now welcome, Thank you so much.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Good story. My name is Don Horgan. I am a
- 6:20Speaker 2: costumer by trade wardrobe. I do all that kind of shit,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and I do a lot of fucking Boston shit. I
- 6:29Speaker 2: grew up on the streets. I had a very interesting life.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I did all sorts of stuff. Nineteen years old. I
- 6:35Speaker 2: was in the corner of a bathroom, strung out on
- 6:37Speaker 2: hero and I said, I don't think I'm going to
- 6:38Speaker 2: make another day on Heroin. Heroin.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh, I thought, I thought you said heron.
- 6:44Speaker 6: I was strung out on Hayeah Harry by the fish.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I got a fucking action Visit's a Heroin. Okay, So
- 6:52Speaker 2: don't fucking criticize me for it. Okay, this is my
- 6:54Speaker 2: life story. I'm not criticizing you, little fucking tike.
- 6:57Speaker 6: What happened to me?
- 6:59Speaker 2: What?
- 7:00Speaker 3: All right, let's keep it off.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Nineteen years old, strong on a hand and I was
- 7:04Speaker 2: down on the ground and I almost fucking died. And
- 7:06Speaker 2: then I woke up and I said, I got to
- 7:08Speaker 2: change my life around. So I got into a bunch
- 7:10Speaker 2: of shit. It bounced around, figured it out, got into
- 7:13Speaker 2: the wardrobe because I realized there's a lot of fucking
- 7:16Speaker 2: movies and shit where they're showing people from Boston, showing
- 7:18Speaker 2: people from the neighborhood, and they're not dressing them like that.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They're dressing them in fancy stuff. They dressing them like
- 7:24Speaker 2: there's something else. And it was really ridiculous. So I said,
- 7:26Speaker 2: we gotta to dress them like their normal people. So
- 7:29Speaker 2: I came in. I revolutionized it. I got my oscar first.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I got it for the boys in the Neighborhood are Wrong,
- 7:37Speaker 2: I got Then I moved over. There was a Broadway
- 7:39Speaker 2: version of it. Boys Neighborhood are Wrong got the Tony.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I got the Emmy because I worked on a show
- 7:45Speaker 2: about It's called back where I'm from. They ain't no
- 7:48Speaker 2: friends like this, wasn't that.
- 7:50Speaker 4: The one where they were The whole cast was in
- 7:52Speaker 4: a Boston Red Sox.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Hat, absolutely a big hat, and I engineered the big hat. Yeah. Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 2: they all sat in the big like a big bowl
- 8:02Speaker 2: upside down.
- 8:03Speaker 6: You actually won that the costume award there for them.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a costume. Yeah, it was all for costuming.
- 8:09Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 8:10Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 8:11Speaker 3: No, great, good morning the Dulston.
- 8:14Speaker 6: Sorry I haven't had my cafe.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Awesome, dude, Okay. And then the fucking Grammy is a
- 8:20Speaker 2: little harder for a costumer, right, because it's an audio medium.
- 8:22Speaker 2: But I actually got it because I was sampled a
- 8:27Speaker 2: video of mine, uh, a YouTube video where I was
- 8:31Speaker 2: cussing out a trompone player on the street, got sampled
- 8:34Speaker 2: in a Rappers album and uh. I was credited as
- 8:38Speaker 2: a co writer on the song and it won Song
- 8:40Speaker 2: of the Year.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I think they did the right thing with that.
- 8:43Speaker 6: What was it?
- 8:43Speaker 1: What did that sound like?
- 8:44Speaker 6: Again?
- 8:45Speaker 5: It was like an auto tune song my.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Fucking apartment and he was screaming, he was playing, and
- 8:51Speaker 2: I was like, you fucking loser, you fucking loser. Go
- 8:54Speaker 2: take that fucking trumpet and play it with a fucking sun.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Don't shine, you fucking lose.
- 9:02Speaker 4: It's gonna be hard for me to ask you a
- 9:04Speaker 4: question about any award, but that project.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Totally and you can ask me. That is the least
- 9:08Speaker 2: involved I was. That is a video that somebody else
- 9:12Speaker 2: made of me. Then I got credit for because I said, hey,
- 9:14Speaker 2: you better fucking credit for me. That's going viral, and
- 9:17Speaker 2: then that got me there. So that is a little
- 9:19Speaker 2: difficult to expand on. I can try as much as possible.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Well, I have a lot of questions about that at
- 9:27Speaker 5: I will table for now.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'd love to hear from you, of course.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Good morning, guys.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I am Andrew Beans, I I am a composer. I
- 9:42Speaker 4: am so grateful to be with you guys here today.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I forgive me. I'm not used to being on camera.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Ye, you look really sweaty. You're fucking nervous.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just losing my mind.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Okay, so I let's start from the beginning where.
- 9:57Speaker 3: It all starts.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I've never seen someone's foot tap so fast.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's a sixth note over here. So I
- 10:08Speaker 4: got my.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Where do I begin here?
- 10:12Speaker 4: I got an oscar for the song I wrote for
- 10:15Speaker 4: the Pixar movie Popcorn Meats Chair. Such a good moviecorn
- 10:21Speaker 4: falls in Love with a Chair. Forbidden Love is the
- 10:26Speaker 4: song that I wrote for that song for that movie.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I can't wrap my head around that plot.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I would a piece of popcorn fall in Love with
- 10:37Speaker 1: a chair.
- 10:37Speaker 6: You've got to see the movie.
- 10:38Speaker 3: It's a Pixar film. I mean, those guys have minds
- 10:41Speaker 3: like nobody's business.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a cartoon. What would it, old man, missus
- 10:45Speaker 2: wife that that cartoon stuff? Make things up?
- 10:47Speaker 1: I just got up with this.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah okay, no, well we'll buckle up.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Because then I got the Grammy for a song I
- 10:56Speaker 4: wrote for a Pixar film, and that was A Basket
- 11:01Speaker 4: Who Learns New York.
- 11:04Speaker 6: I love a Basket who Learns New York.
- 11:07Speaker 4: It's a great little movie. And then I got the
- 11:12Speaker 4: Emmy because I wrote the music for a Pixar short
- 11:18Speaker 4: that now is on Disney Plus and we got an
- 11:22Speaker 4: Emmy for it, believe it or not.
- 11:23Speaker 3: And that was that was the story of Granola.
- 11:30Speaker 6: The story of Granola rocked my childhood. You won't believe it.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a town. It's a town where everybody Granola.
- 11:37Speaker 2: You gotta see this movie. Everybody in the town of Granola. Everyone,
- 11:42Speaker 2: you know, everybody's a thimble.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Everybody's a thimble.
- 11:46Speaker 1: How do they think or talk?
- 11:48Speaker 2: It's a cartoon, No, but what you see, like you've
- 11:53Speaker 2: seen the snow White.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Well, yes, but that's a that's a human woman walking
- 12:00Speaker 1: around as a princess.
- 12:02Speaker 5: How would a thumbtack have an opinion?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Said thimble?
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he said thimble.
- 12:07Speaker 4: And these Pixar guys, these Pixar guys are so creative, Okay,
- 12:13Speaker 4: And then yeah, it really is. I just show up
- 12:18Speaker 4: and I play the Ivory tickles. And then I I
- 12:24Speaker 4: got the Tony for a musical that was adapted off
- 12:28Speaker 4: of a Pixar film.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I wrote all the music and it was Airport.
- 12:35Speaker 6: I love Airport. It's such a strong film.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it is a retelling of the music man through
- 12:42Speaker 4: the eyes of the little Guardia Airport.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Absolutely, an airplane comes to town and he promises everybody
- 12:49Speaker 2: in the airport that he contained everything about him.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I learned.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I know how to play music and make it jolly,
- 12:55Speaker 4: and that's what I owe my whole career.
- 12:57Speaker 6: It's also a somber you know, not to know. I
- 13:00Speaker 6: don't want you to cut yourself down. It's very somber.
- 13:02Speaker 6: It has beautiful notes to it.
- 13:04Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 13:05Speaker 7: I love it.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Can I ask about the process that you went through
- 13:09Speaker 3: when you made that song?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Okay, so I wouldn't know. I went through no process.
- 13:14Speaker 2: That is not a process I was involved in. I
- 13:16Speaker 2: got a call actually right before the song came out.
- 13:20Speaker 2: They said, just their heads up, you're gonna be on
- 13:21Speaker 2: the radio a lot. I said, what the fuck do
- 13:23Speaker 2: you mean. I was laying down in bed. I was
- 13:26Speaker 2: thinking about the night I was strung on hand and
- 13:28Speaker 2: I was thinking about it, and I was nervous, and
- 13:30Speaker 2: I said, oh, I hope, I hope my life is
- 13:33Speaker 2: better because I was on some other fucking show. I
- 13:35Speaker 2: hated it. The characters were from New York. It was
- 13:38Speaker 2: fucking stupid. It was terrible. I was the assistant wardrobe
- 13:41Speaker 2: editor for Friends and wardrobe editor is very different universe. Ye, wardrobs,
- 13:49Speaker 2: you trim and him and cut.
- 13:51Speaker 4: But do you do you cut an outfit or is
- 13:53Speaker 4: it just physical like it's.
- 13:55Speaker 2: It's item from specific outing anything.
- 14:00Speaker 1: You're not taking anything out.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Let's cut this.
- 14:03Speaker 2: It's usually let's get in the wardrobe. Better to take
- 14:06Speaker 2: this bracelet off and stuff like that.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Okay, that's I actually have heard about that. That is
- 14:12Speaker 1: a union thing. It's a regular wardrobe person cannot remove
- 14:16Speaker 1: an article of clothing.
- 14:17Speaker 6: They can only add.
- 14:20Speaker 2: They cannot subtract, so they have to have somebody else
- 14:22Speaker 2: to subtract. It's fucking bullshit, to be honest. And then
- 14:25Speaker 2: I gotta call this head heads up, turn on the radio,
- 14:27Speaker 2: and I said, okay, what's the deal? And I heard
- 14:29Speaker 2: myself screaming to a beat. And these crazy guys such
- 14:32Speaker 2: a good club. They're called deaf freaks, deaft freaks.
- 14:38Speaker 6: Death freaks. So smart of a name, theft death freaks.
- 14:44Speaker 2: They're called deft freaks. Okay, and and and and they
- 14:49Speaker 2: and I tried to call them. I don't know who
- 14:50Speaker 2: these two guys are. By the way, they wear masks.
- 14:52Speaker 2: All the time you worked with them. I never worked
- 14:55Speaker 2: with them. I have not met them. They used me
- 14:57Speaker 2: all the time. I went to the Emmys. I tried
- 14:59Speaker 2: to meet them, and and I met them, and then
- 15:00Speaker 2: I walked away and someone said, you know that isn't them, right,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and they point it over. There were two other people,
- 15:04Speaker 2: so I think I tried to meet them, but I
- 15:06Speaker 2: got the Grammy. I got the Grammy, and that's okay
- 15:09Speaker 2: with me. I had the question about you. Yeah, you
- 15:12Speaker 2: work for Disney, Disney Pixar. You're probably the big machine.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I mean, I'm curious. You know, there's a lot of mumblings.
- 15:18Speaker 2: We're not supposed to talk. Ill of the mouse. Thousand
- 15:20Speaker 2: Mouse runs a lot of stuff in this down, a
- 15:22Speaker 2: lot of stuff in his town. Yeah, so tell me
- 15:25Speaker 2: what's it like working for the House and Mouse.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Oh, House of Mouse is very different, though, I'll say
- 15:30Speaker 4: than Pixar. Pixar is a group of freaks. Okay, these
- 15:34Speaker 4: guys are freaks. You walk in there and they're what
- 15:38Speaker 4: kind of middle aged men thinks of a popcorn falling
- 15:41Speaker 4: in love with it?
- 15:42Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
- 15:43Speaker 1: It has to be a deranged individual who thinks that
- 15:46Speaker 1: an inanimate object can talk to a different one.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Yeah, well, let me tell you the whole office is
- 15:51Speaker 4: built that way. Once I was in a meeting and
- 15:53Speaker 4: we had to ask the pen what they thought, and
- 15:55Speaker 4: I said, that's a pen and they said, inanimate objects.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Can talk and that's how they hear it.
- 16:03Speaker 4: So so they just they they want to give every
- 16:06Speaker 4: piece of anything anatomy and autonomy.
- 16:12Speaker 6: No, it didn't.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Of course. We waited in the silence, and I had
- 16:15Speaker 3: a cigarette and.
- 16:19Speaker 4: I don't smoke. Okay, I just I was so drevened
- 16:23Speaker 4: to it. I was so appalled by the fact that
- 16:25Speaker 4: we would stop a pitch meeting.
- 16:27Speaker 2: You are you the kind of person who keeps one
- 16:29Speaker 2: in your pocket?
- 16:30Speaker 3: Keep one no matter what.
- 16:33Speaker 4: My wife once got in a fight with her cousin
- 16:35Speaker 4: and I said, I have to pull out my cigarette.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Oh no, what was the fight about?
- 16:39Speaker 3: I don't know, about some kind of turkey?
- 16:43Speaker 2: Stressful so about.
- 16:53Speaker 4: They were making for Thanksgiving? Don't these pixar guys, I'm
- 16:57Speaker 4: talking about animal Okay, I can.
- 16:59Speaker 2: See the zeede. Your wife and her cousin screaming about
- 17:03Speaker 2: some sort of turkey you thinking, I.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Said, this reminds me too much of the house a
- 17:08Speaker 4: mouse where stupid shit talks. So it's hard over there
- 17:13Speaker 4: and listen. I'm just a musician. I'm not I'm not
- 17:16Speaker 4: one of these freaks with a laptop. Okay, I don't
- 17:21Speaker 4: type weird stuff. And they use countries like it's like
- 17:24Speaker 4: a backdrop. They go, what if we did popcorn meats
- 17:26Speaker 4: chair but we did it in Italy? And I go, guys,
- 17:29Speaker 4: that doesn't change the music.
- 17:32Speaker 6: It did, It didn't.
- 17:36Speaker 4: No, I'm really against my music being geographical. I think
- 17:39Speaker 4: music should be colorful, jolly, and it should bounce.
- 17:43Speaker 6: That's insane because I feel like the history and culture
- 17:46Speaker 6: of music is directly based to geography.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Very smart, twenty four year old the Dustin.
- 17:51Speaker 6: Thank you very much when its music. How do you
- 17:54Speaker 6: feel like, guys, stop? Thank you?
- 17:57Speaker 3: Your pipes are incredible.
- 17:58Speaker 2: No, I didn't compliment you will ask you a question.
- 18:00Speaker 6: So much?
- 18:01Speaker 3: Are you rais singing?
- 18:02Speaker 6: I was Rais singing. I was raised on the stage.
- 18:05Speaker 6: I was raised in the booth. I'm kind of uh.
- 18:08Speaker 6: You guys probably know this, but I don't know if
- 18:10Speaker 6: you guys know this. I was used to be a
- 18:12Speaker 6: Broadway child actor. I was Matilda and then I was
- 18:17Speaker 6: the kid who eats cake in Matilda, And yes, that's
- 18:22Speaker 6: exactly who I was.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Lovety to my kids.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Oh my gosh. You know. So after that though, when
- 18:27Speaker 6: we switched to Broadway, I just jumped into the booth
- 18:29Speaker 6: and got going. Basically, I got famous on a dead
- 18:33Speaker 6: app called Vine for my pipes, and one thing led
- 18:38Speaker 6: to another and we ran away with girl you got
- 18:42Speaker 6: them booty in those jeans. It's a great first hit.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Second hit was I was like, baby, what You're cool?
- 18:53Speaker 6: So those both went huge for me. What was the question?
- 18:57Speaker 2: The question was do you feel a music is geographical?
- 19:01Speaker 6: Thank you so much? Thank you. I'm asking a question.
- 19:06Speaker 2: From what I get for being curious about a fucking
- 19:08Speaker 2: gen z.
- 19:09Speaker 3: This is they thank you, and then they'll ask if
- 19:11Speaker 3: they hurt you?
- 19:12Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, did I hurt you? Sorry you God.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Answer the question is a question, thank you.
- 19:23Speaker 6: So I think it's geographical when you listen to the
- 19:25Speaker 6: I mean it's kind of undeniably geographical. You think of
- 19:28Speaker 6: a reggaeton that's from a certain area of the world,
- 19:32Speaker 6: a geography of the world. You think of uh uh uh.
- 19:37Speaker 6: You think of different French music that's from France, and
- 19:41Speaker 6: they made that music because of the.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Part of the world is the dustin from where that
- 19:45Speaker 5: album you were speaking of.
- 19:47Speaker 6: The dustin comes from the great plains of Plano, Texas. Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 6: that's where I'm from.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Very wealthy neighborhood, Plano, Texas, very wealthy city.
- 19:56Speaker 6: Thank you so much. I don't thank you. Yeah, I
- 19:58Speaker 6: definitely came from wealth, and I'm not a shamed of it.
- 20:00Speaker 6: You know, a lot of people will try to reject
- 20:02Speaker 6: you from that, but that's fine for me, you know so.
- 20:05Speaker 6: And I think my influence, my music was definitely influenced
- 20:08Speaker 6: from the plains of Plano. You can kind of hear
- 20:10Speaker 6: it in my.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Song Incredible, Sarah, I'm dying to hear about just your
- 20:17Speaker 4: performance at the Tony's when I saw you sing that
- 20:20Speaker 4: song live.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Oh you forgot the words?
- 20:22Speaker 6: It was iconic.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yes, well, I'm told that it's made a big splash online,
- 20:29Speaker 1: that it's a big it's been a big comeback for
- 20:32Speaker 1: that performance, because you know, in the in the nineties,
- 20:37Speaker 1: you would you would just sing something and you sung
- 20:40Speaker 1: it on TV or you went on you know who
- 20:43Speaker 1: was it who was a talk show at the time,
- 20:46Speaker 1: Carson Maybe that was earlier.
- 20:52Speaker 5: It's been so okay, Well, thank you so much.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Talk show it was a who Salt and Pepper in
- 20:58Speaker 3: the nineties.
- 20:59Speaker 5: Sean, Well, I've done so many of them I can't
- 21:01Speaker 5: keep track.
- 21:02Speaker 2: By Sally Jesse Raphael.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Oh yeah, probably all right, probably somewhere in there.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Listen.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Okay.
- 21:10Speaker 5: So my point is, you go on a talk show.
- 21:14Speaker 1: You do an interview, or you perform on a national
- 21:18Speaker 1: stage of some kind, and then that's it. It lives
- 21:20Speaker 1: on the TV. Nobody ever sees it again. It just
- 21:24Speaker 1: exists there and then it's gone. So you can do
- 21:26Speaker 1: whatever you want. You can take a call in the
- 21:28Speaker 1: middle of your interview, you can go to the bathroom,
- 21:31Speaker 1: you can get up, play a game, come back, you
- 21:33Speaker 1: can swear all you want, and nobody ever hears about
- 21:36Speaker 1: it again. But now, because of the Internet, if you
- 21:40Speaker 1: do something on television, people remember it, yeah, and people
- 21:44Speaker 1: put it somewhere else, and then all of a sudden,
- 21:46Speaker 1: kids are lip syncing to me forgetting the words to
- 21:50Speaker 1: Starfish of My Heaven and saying things like their lip
- 21:55Speaker 1: syncing is one part where I went, where's a cue card?
- 22:00Speaker 5: I need a cute card?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, who's a cute card?
- 22:03Speaker 6: Lady?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Give me the cute card and It's like people do
- 22:08Speaker 1: it to uh, like analogous situations in their life where
- 22:12Speaker 1: they're confused by something. I'm told it's a big hit.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Will you address the rumors that you had seven bottles
- 22:17Speaker 4: of champagne before that performance?
- 22:19Speaker 2: Oh?
- 22:19Speaker 1: Absolutely I did.
- 22:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Well it was a different time and they had alcohol
- 22:24Speaker 1: available more freely. It was a there wouldn't there wasn't
- 22:27Speaker 1: such a stigma around being drunk as hell. You could
- 22:32Speaker 1: kind of you could do that more often. Now people
- 22:35Speaker 1: are very sensitive days. Yeah, they say, you.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Can't eat, it's nine am, you're here at your call time.
- 22:42Speaker 6: You can't.
- 22:42Speaker 5: You can't be a drunk as shit performing a scene.
- 22:46Speaker 1: And I just I don't know if that's the way
- 22:48Speaker 1: we should be going is this society?
- 22:49Speaker 2: And I mean back when I first started, it was
- 22:51Speaker 2: like I'm wasted. So what it was like, I'm wasted
- 22:54Speaker 2: your brown hair, you know what I mean? Like, well,
- 22:56Speaker 2: these are all facts, doesn't matter.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It was a signal that you were so comfortable in
- 23:00Speaker 1: your position and your character and your role that you
- 23:03Speaker 1: could do it on any substance.
- 23:05Speaker 3: No, for sure, you can't go to the bank drunk
- 23:07Speaker 3: as fuck anymore.
- 23:07Speaker 1: No, No, they don't like it.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I don't.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I have to tell you. Uh, my son is a
- 23:12Speaker 2: drag queen and you yeah, your performance. He does his
- 23:18Speaker 2: in his character, in his persona he does he lipsings
- 23:22Speaker 2: your entire song and he's so incredible. Yeah, I saw
- 23:26Speaker 2: him the other that's wonderful. In the Lower East Side
- 23:28Speaker 2: of New York. There's a drag queen. There's a drag
- 23:30Speaker 2: bar called Bussy, and I went there and I watched
- 23:33Speaker 2: my son performing him. What is that word bussy, it's
- 23:36Speaker 2: boy pussy, I think.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Oh.
- 23:38Speaker 2: And he performed yeah, like a butthole and he yeah,
- 23:43Speaker 2: and he was amazing and he brought the house and
- 23:45Speaker 2: everyone loved it, and he wanted me to thank you
- 23:47Speaker 2: for it.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Oh my goodness. Well, I'm so flattered.
- 23:50Speaker 4: That's so funny because I saw a drag performer. Do
- 23:53Speaker 4: your part of that song?
- 23:55Speaker 3: You're so famous?
- 23:55Speaker 2: No way, the fucking loser.
- 23:58Speaker 6: I did the whole video.
- 24:00Speaker 4: No that the don't trumpet? Yeah, your sample, Yeah, I
- 24:04Speaker 4: saw did that that.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 24:06Speaker 4: I think it was at a bar in uh who
- 24:10Speaker 4: in l A. I go sometimes because my wife likes
- 24:13Speaker 4: she thinks these drag queens are really singing, are incredible,
- 24:17Speaker 4: I know, but I keep telling her the art of
- 24:19Speaker 4: it is lips.
- 24:22Speaker 1: No.
- 24:22Speaker 4: I mean, I've tried to tell her so many times,
- 24:25Speaker 4: and she goes, honey. When that drag queen sings All
- 24:27Speaker 4: I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey, she
- 24:29Speaker 4: sounds just like Mariah, and I go, honey, she's lip singing.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Try to try to explain that. But anyway, I saw
- 24:36Speaker 4: a performer do your part of that sample.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Amazing, that's awesome. I mean, I'm on it. I'm I'm
- 24:44Speaker 2: an honorary drag dad. You know. I I love my son,
- 24:47Speaker 2: his his his persona. She's incredible. I love it all.
- 24:51Speaker 6: What's his name?
- 24:52Speaker 2: Well, his name is tim.
- 24:54Speaker 5: Oh yeah, what's what's her name? The persona?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Her name is uh gassy Bitch Deluxe.
- 25:01Speaker 6: That is a great name, really good, is great?
- 25:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's it. I don't know if he
- 25:14Speaker 2: uses bitch, he might be another name. Oh, I don't know,
- 25:18Speaker 2: but he uses it. He changes it all the time
- 25:20Speaker 2: because he's he's coming up, he's trying to get on
- 25:21Speaker 2: drag race. I help him film the tapes and I
- 25:23Speaker 2: help him with the costumes too, because that's what I
- 25:25Speaker 2: can do. I mean, he's he comes from a costume background.
- 25:28Speaker 2: He comes from me. You know I can do so
- 25:29Speaker 2: I do wardrobets on him all the time.
- 25:31Speaker 1: You know, I actually drag queens are It's funny that
- 25:35Speaker 1: you bring that up. They are quite enamored with me.
- 25:38Speaker 6: And you've got a following.
- 25:40Speaker 1: There was one time I was not not let's say kidnapped,
- 25:44Speaker 1: but let's say brought into the back room and there
- 25:48Speaker 1: were seven of these wonderful, beautiful drag queens and they
- 25:52Speaker 1: were all out there with notepads and they would say,
- 25:55Speaker 1: just talk, and they would write down every single thing
- 25:58Speaker 1: I said. And I think I'm in some kind of
- 26:03Speaker 1: show now where they where they all imitate.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Me in some way. And I think it's interesting.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I think it's a compliment.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Well, I would say, and I know this because my son. Yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 2: I think you're kind of what people say in their industry.
- 26:17Speaker 2: You are like a gay man's old woman, you know
- 26:19Speaker 2: what I mean. Why where you've become this legend status,
- 26:21Speaker 2: the Jennifer cool As, You're the Lord Dern, You're the
- 26:24Speaker 2: Roseman in Cluoney, You're the old types. You've you've become
- 26:27Speaker 2: the type of woman that gay men obsess over.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And it's fascinating because I don't understand. I don't understand
- 26:35Speaker 1: what it is they I think they seem to latch
- 26:39Speaker 1: on to the way I talk to staff members and
- 26:43Speaker 1: the way that I take glasses from restaurants.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'll tell you this.
- 26:47Speaker 4: The second, the second you understand why they like you,
- 26:52Speaker 4: they're not gonna like you anymore.
- 26:53Speaker 3: You cannot know.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That's so.
- 26:59Speaker 6: Once you can, you figure it out.
- 27:01Speaker 5: You know, this makes sense.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I've had a drop off in interest ever since they
- 27:05Speaker 1: convinced me to make that TikTok where I was holding
- 27:09Speaker 1: a glass of champagne and walking out of the chateau
- 27:14Speaker 1: my mom. I have not been getting calls drag queens
- 27:17Speaker 1: have not been talking about me as much.
- 27:20Speaker 3: So the least check out completely not own it.
- 27:24Speaker 2: You Ei the gorilla in the cage. You can't look
- 27:26Speaker 2: at the glass. That's the thing. The second look of
- 27:29Speaker 2: the glass. We don't like you. You gotta be fucking careful.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Okay, now this is this is good to know, But.
- 27:35Speaker 2: They are they're playing you. In Vegas, I walked down
- 27:37Speaker 2: the street the other day and there was a Sarah
- 27:39Speaker 2: McDonald and personata in Vegas. She asked me to take
- 27:42Speaker 2: a photo. Is gonna be fifty five dollars.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Oh, my goodness, five dollars.
- 27:47Speaker 6: And she asked you to take a photo?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Yeah, she asked, Yeah, she said, you want to think
- 27:51Speaker 2: a photo would be I got it. Yeah, she didn't
- 27:53Speaker 2: asked me to take a photo of her.
- 27:54Speaker 6: Sorry, I was a little confused.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Okay, the Dustin.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I want to talk about you singing all the time,
- 28:00Speaker 4: because here I am, I'm a musician. I rarely will
- 28:07Speaker 4: be playing music and conversation, Yeah, conversation. And I'm curious, like,
- 28:13Speaker 4: is that a learned thing? Is that a new thing?
- 28:15Speaker 4: Or have you done that all the time where you
- 28:17Speaker 4: sing what you wanted.
- 28:18Speaker 6: To say and thank you so much. It's definitely a
- 28:21Speaker 6: thing that I picked up when I was a couple
- 28:23Speaker 6: of years ago. We were just in the booth so
- 28:25Speaker 6: many times, just recording, recording, recording that I thought, you know,
- 28:28Speaker 6: to ide eight new ideas. That's incredible. I have to
- 28:32Speaker 6: keep on singing, and yeah, I don't write any of
- 28:34Speaker 6: my songs, but I'm hoping to one day. And I
- 28:38Speaker 6: think just by singing a couple of tunes and trying
- 28:40Speaker 6: things out, you can find good lyrics. Like already from
- 28:43Speaker 6: this conversation, I feel like I've picked up a lot
- 28:45Speaker 6: of great lyrics that might go into a future song
- 28:48Speaker 6: of mine. One is that I love is You're you're
- 28:53Speaker 6: a gay man's old woman. I think that'd be really
- 28:57Speaker 6: And you think.
- 28:57Speaker 1: That that's okay for you to sing?
- 28:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's his work.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Well, yeah, we're gen Z. We have no rules. Yeah,
- 29:04Speaker 6: it's like kind of like this weird things where millennials
- 29:06Speaker 6: are not allowed to say things, but gen Z, if
- 29:08Speaker 6: we do it on TikTok, it's usually fine. People don't
- 29:11Speaker 6: really get mad at that's good change.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'm interested to know people's philosophy on this. There could
- 29:19Speaker 1: be an argument made for we've basically one, We've gotten
- 29:24Speaker 1: all the awards. What's to stop us from just kicking
- 29:27Speaker 1: back on opportunities and and enjoying a mimosa on the
- 29:31Speaker 1: beach somewhere. Why do we keep doing this? That's why
- 29:35Speaker 1: do we want to work? What drives you?
- 29:38Speaker 6: Well? For me, I think it's my age. You know,
- 29:40Speaker 6: I'm not done exploring the art. I'm not done exploring
- 29:44Speaker 6: the universe. Yes I have an Emmy, Yes, thank you.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yes I haven't, but that wasn't a compliment.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Thank you so much for that. Yes, I have an Oscar.
- 29:55Speaker 6: And yes I have a tony, but my work isn't done.
- 29:58Speaker 6: There's still so many kids and so many people that
- 30:01Speaker 6: need touch, to be touched by the dustin, and I
- 30:03Speaker 6: can't wait to touch them.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I don't like how you. I don't like. I don't
- 30:07Speaker 1: something about that.
- 30:08Speaker 6: I'm actually really interested. I guess for me, it's like
- 30:11Speaker 6: when you hear EGOT winners, you usually think really exciting,
- 30:14Speaker 6: you know, like really fun, really crazy people. But you
- 30:17Speaker 6: guys are kind of like laid back in mundane a
- 30:20Speaker 6: little bit.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Mundane, my fucking guy, you want to tell me I'm mundane.
- 30:25Speaker 6: I mean, mundane is a really good word. Now.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I was in the basement of the tam smoking camosh
- 30:31Speaker 2: anters No, the tam on Boylston Street in Boston, Massachusetts,
- 30:35Speaker 2: fucking Losa.
- 30:35Speaker 6: Sorry, I don't know Boston.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I do. I know it like the back of my
- 30:39Speaker 2: fucking dick. Tame. Okay, here we go.
- 30:42Speaker 4: I was in the Caribbean on a Pixar retreat to
- 30:45Speaker 4: do research and that sounds very Monday An anchor hit
- 30:49Speaker 4: my head so hard that I sang a high sea
- 30:52Speaker 4: That is incredible.
- 30:54Speaker 6: These are the stories I want, This is the these
- 30:57Speaker 6: are the trials that I think E got winners. I've
- 31:00Speaker 6: got to talk about Mundane.
- 31:02Speaker 1: I dangled myself from the top of the Empire State
- 31:05Speaker 1: Building in a sex swing, drinking dirty martinis, and they
- 31:11Speaker 1: didn't stop talking about that for years.
- 31:16Speaker 6: What is that story?
- 31:17Speaker 4: No, I want to talk about why we're also tired.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm exhausted.
- 31:22Speaker 3: I am exhausted.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I think it's because I don't get enough sleep.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You know my doctor was just saying that about me.
- 31:28Speaker 1: That's so interesting. I think it's because we don't get
- 31:31Speaker 1: enough sleep.
- 31:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah, are you guys getting six hours?
- 31:33Speaker 2: My circadian rhythms are off. I've been told.
- 31:36Speaker 6: I want to hear the sex stories. I want to
- 31:38Speaker 6: hear the crazy drug binges. I want to hear what
- 31:41Speaker 6: made you E got winners? There's only fifteen plus four
- 31:45Speaker 6: of us.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Okay, listen to me, fucking boy all right, hey, thank you,
- 31:52Speaker 2: shut up. Shut up for a fucking second. So I'm
- 31:56Speaker 2: thinking empty things. Listen to me, your fucking boy O
- 32:00Speaker 2: Jesus Christ, listen. The fucking hard work is why we
- 32:04Speaker 2: have the awards. We don't have the crazy times of
- 32:07Speaker 2: the reasons we probably shouldn't have gotten those awards. You
- 32:10Speaker 2: fucking lose you gotta put those words into action. Okay,
- 32:14Speaker 2: you gotta do fucking things. You gotta do the paperwork.
- 32:17Speaker 2: You can't get a job without filling out of ten
- 32:19Speaker 2: ninety nine.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Okay.
- 32:20Speaker 2: You can't build a costume without sewing together two pieces
- 32:23Speaker 2: of cloth.
- 32:24Speaker 6: Hey, well, why don't you listen to me? Good sir,
- 32:26Speaker 6: Why don't you sit on down on your butt to
- 32:30Speaker 6: me right now?
- 32:31Speaker 4: Listen, Sometimes the crazy times of the times we aren't
- 32:34Speaker 4: thankful for.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Okay, listen.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Once I was in France for a Pixar retreat research retreat,
- 32:39Speaker 4: and I was so drunk off my mind. I poured
- 32:41Speaker 4: my whiskey into my Fetichini Alfredo. I ate that whisky.
- 32:45Speaker 4: That's sick for years.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Never away, keep going.
- 32:52Speaker 3: No, I'm not thankful for the times I went crazy?
- 32:55Speaker 3: All right?
- 32:56Speaker 6: Oh yeah? Anybody else want to try to put me
- 32:58Speaker 6: in my place before I go ham on your asses?
- 33:01Speaker 1: No, Chris, I think that's what you want, and so
- 33:03Speaker 1: I'm not gonna give it to you.
- 33:05Speaker 3: That's so good? Do you guys nap?
- 33:08Speaker 2: I do?
- 33:09Speaker 6: Do you guys know what makes a good viral video?
- 33:11Speaker 1: Now?
- 33:11Speaker 6: Do you guys know what makes a good interesting thing?
- 33:13Speaker 6: It's not talking about who was the late night hosts
- 33:16Speaker 6: of the nineties. It's these stories.
- 33:19Speaker 2: You think I gotta know viral. You think I don't
- 33:22Speaker 2: know viral.
- 33:23Speaker 6: I gotta grab me for going viral. You fucking Losa,
- 33:26Speaker 6: your fucking piece shit and pop fucking pen and poppy shit. Yes,
- 33:31Speaker 6: I love this, and thank you, thank you. I want
- 33:34Speaker 6: to hear these dirty stories. I want to hear the
- 33:37Speaker 6: fun I don't want to hear about where you sleep
- 33:40Speaker 6: at night and how you go eat. I what do you.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Fucking do your little fucking robot in the booth?
- 33:47Speaker 3: Are you sitting in the.
- 33:47Speaker 6: Booth all day and record?
- 33:50Speaker 7: And when I'm not doing that, my mom takes me
- 33:53Speaker 7: to Broadway.
- 33:54Speaker 5: You have been flat this entire fucking time.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Auto tune is a good thing, Sarah call.
- 34:07Speaker 1: You think that you could just do a little run
- 34:11Speaker 1: all the time in everyday language. If you're going to
- 34:15Speaker 1: do a run, you might have hit the fucking note
- 34:17Speaker 1: kid like how.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Like this?
- 34:24Speaker 1: Oh oh.
- 34:29Speaker 6: God, that was beautiful.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Holy shit, it's like she had two strokes before it.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I didn't hair balls. It was my theory.
- 34:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Haven't actually tried in a while to actually do that,
- 34:42Speaker 1: so I don't know what came out of me. I
- 34:45Speaker 1: blackout every time I sing great, and I think that's
- 34:48Speaker 1: how you succeed. You just have to disconnect, That's.
- 34:51Speaker 6: All I'm saying. We're he got winners. This shouldn't feel
- 34:54Speaker 6: like a twelve am at Denny's. Okay, listen to me.
- 34:58Speaker 2: We had the exciting moments, your little fucking prick. We
- 35:01Speaker 2: did them. We have them.
- 35:03Speaker 6: I have whiskey in my pasta exactly.
- 35:05Speaker 2: We get to rest on our laurels here. Okay. Just
- 35:08Speaker 2: because you didn't have exciting moments in your life because
- 35:10Speaker 2: you were engineering the laboratory for entertainment, doesn't mean that
- 35:15Speaker 2: we haven't had them, and doesn't mean the way have
- 35:18Speaker 2: to sit and fucking lip our veins open to show
- 35:21Speaker 2: you we have all right, I'm not a gen Z puppet, Okay,
- 35:25Speaker 2: I'm not the out.
- 35:27Speaker 5: I just realized why you look so familiar to me?
- 35:30Speaker 1: Are you Brad Paisley's son?
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yes?
- 35:32Speaker 6: I am Brad Paisley. No, that's good. I love Brad Paisley,
- 35:41Speaker 6: my dad. He's mine, damn.
- 35:45Speaker 4: And I know you the dustin. You're never gonna stop,
- 35:47Speaker 4: but let's talk. Have you guys ever wanted to stop?
- 35:51Speaker 4: Have you ever just wanted to take summer off. I know, Dustin,
- 35:54Speaker 4: you're not engineered for that. No, And I feel bad
- 35:58Speaker 4: because he'll work till the day you're dead.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Well, I you know, I haven't been as consistently working
- 36:06Speaker 1: ever since I achieved EGOTT. I found it was much
- 36:11Speaker 1: more fun to walk around restaurants and just start talking.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I've found it a person as you know, it's not
- 36:19Speaker 1: as demanding.
- 36:19Speaker 5: There's no one saying you have to be here at
- 36:21Speaker 5: a certain time.
- 36:22Speaker 1: And so for the past thirty or so years, I've
- 36:25Speaker 1: just sort of done sort of bit niche cameos in
- 36:29Speaker 1: different shows where they trot somebody out, kind of like
- 36:32Speaker 1: at the end of Mamma Mia two where Share comes
- 36:35Speaker 1: in for no reason iconic.
- 36:36Speaker 5: That's kind of been my bread and butter for a
- 36:38Speaker 5: long time.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Any time I go, oh, well, the cash well is
- 36:43Speaker 1: running out a little bit, the investments are going a
- 36:45Speaker 1: little wonky. Then I hop on a TV show for
- 36:49Speaker 1: three to five lines.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw you on You were on Pretty Little
- 36:53Speaker 2: Lias recently, the reboot, and you came out at the
- 36:55Speaker 2: end and someone said, did somebody say mystery you dress
- 37:01Speaker 2: is a big question? Mark?
- 37:02Speaker 1: Yes, I was dressed is a big question. Mark because.
- 37:07Speaker 6: Pretty Little Liars the pretty grounded dramatic show for you
- 37:10Speaker 6: to come out of dressed up for the.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Internet.
- 37:13Speaker 1: From what I understand, Tim Burton took over one episode
- 37:18Speaker 1: of Pretty Little Liars because the director was sick and
- 37:22Speaker 1: they were all friends and so it got a little funky.
- 37:26Speaker 2: You should see when My when My when my son
- 37:28Speaker 2: has his drag friends over at the at the house.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Every single person that enters, they walk in saying did
- 37:34Speaker 2: somebody say mystery? They all do.
- 37:37Speaker 6: You're a viral queen.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I cannot. I am swatting gay men away like flies.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I can keep swatting because if you stop swatting, they'll
- 37:45Speaker 2: go away on their.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Second you join, You're done? Can I ask you?
- 37:54Speaker 6: What?
- 37:54Speaker 4: Can you address the rumors that you're on the new
- 37:56Speaker 4: season of Just like and Just like That?
- 37:59Speaker 3: And yeah, uh yes.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I can't address the room of and Just like That.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I I do come in as Samantha's twin sister Wow well,
- 38:10Speaker 1: because they're still working on getting her getting Kim and
- 38:14Speaker 1: she won't do it, she absolutely will not do it.
- 38:18Speaker 1: So they're having me come in as her identical twin.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I am probably thirty years her senior. But they're they're
- 38:26Speaker 1: ignoring that. I think that's part of it. But yes,
- 38:29Speaker 1: I do come in and I say, who left all
- 38:32Speaker 1: the sex on the floor? And no, no spoilers, no spoilers.
- 38:38Speaker 1: But let's just say we find out pretty quickly who
- 38:40Speaker 1: left all the sex on the floor?
- 38:42Speaker 2: Oh somebody?
- 38:43Speaker 6: It's not a turn of phrase.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Well that's how I said the line, and then they
- 38:50Speaker 1: had to write it in so that what I said
- 38:53Speaker 1: makes sense.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I hope you got a scene with Jay.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I hope so too. Who is that?
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yes? Yes, all right? What about you, my guy?
- 39:04Speaker 2: What are you working?
- 39:06Speaker 3: Are you done?
- 39:06Speaker 6: Do you?
- 39:07Speaker 3: Oh?
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm on some fucking movie right now, shooting in Boston.
- 39:10Speaker 2: It's called back in my neighborhood. This isn't how we
- 39:14Speaker 2: do it.
- 39:15Speaker 3: He os. Boston movies are great.
- 39:17Speaker 6: See.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Look, I know all the outfits. I know where to
- 39:19Speaker 2: buy the flannels, I know where to buy the red
- 39:20Speaker 2: Sox hats, I know where to buy the car Heard shirts,
- 39:23Speaker 2: and I know where to buy the Timberland boots.
- 39:24Speaker 6: And that's a great job. Probably a great job for
- 39:27Speaker 6: assistant wardrobe editors to come in because a lot of
- 39:29Speaker 6: what they're doing is taking away, you know, other pieces
- 39:32Speaker 6: of clothes totally.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I'm not editing on this one. This is a main wardrobe. Yeah,
- 39:36Speaker 2: I'm we don't have Yeah, we don't have the budget
- 39:38Speaker 2: for an edit out. I've started doing indie films because
- 39:41Speaker 2: I feel like it's fun to get back a little bit,
- 39:43Speaker 2: you know. I like to I like to work on
- 39:45Speaker 2: movies that are a little more uh uh, bare bones,
- 39:50Speaker 2: because I've done the big stuff, I did the crazy stuff.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I've gone to all of that. So I like to
- 39:55Speaker 2: try to help wherever I can, you know. And it's
- 39:59Speaker 2: been fun. You know, we're in Boston's a little difficult.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Sometimes people get a little ornery, people get a little fiery,
- 40:04Speaker 2: but you figure it out. You're talk here. It's a
- 40:06Speaker 2: different conversation than if I was in Hollywood, you know,
- 40:08Speaker 2: And so it's nice though, it's nice.
- 40:10Speaker 6: I mean, I love the what's the indie film you're
- 40:11Speaker 6: working on?
- 40:13Speaker 2: Well, it was the one back where I'm from. That's
- 40:16Speaker 2: that's the indie film. And then I mean, I'm I
- 40:18Speaker 2: have a couple other indie films in development that I'm
- 40:20Speaker 2: I'm consulting on for younger wardrobe assistance and the younger
- 40:24Speaker 2: wardrobe costumes. Yeah, there's one called meet Me at Fenway Park.
- 40:29Speaker 2: And don't get it wrong, there's another one called the
- 40:35Speaker 2: Name of the Father and the Son and the Freedom Trail.
- 40:39Speaker 6: I can't wait to figure out what that one's.
- 40:41Speaker 2: That one's really crazy. It's on the grave of Sam Adams.
- 40:45Speaker 2: I fucking sit on my ass. And there's another one
- 40:48Speaker 2: that I fucking love. And I'm really excited about this one.
- 40:51Speaker 2: This one actually the great Patricia colc And is flying
- 40:54Speaker 2: into play uh a housewife in an amazing movie. It's
- 40:59Speaker 2: called I'll See You on the Charles Riva your fucking
- 41:02Speaker 2: piece of Ship.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Well, I'm not gonna be able to stop working, not
- 41:11Speaker 4: by choice. I like to take breaks. But my wife
- 41:15Speaker 4: just bought Burbank.
- 41:17Speaker 2: The city.
- 41:18Speaker 4: This city, she bought the city. So I'm gonna be
- 41:22Speaker 4: working till the day.
- 41:23Speaker 2: What does your wife do because you would kind of
- 41:24Speaker 2: imply that she was an idiot earlier.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Yeah, the woman doesn't get how to buy land. And
- 41:31Speaker 4: I don't know what realtur she worked with. Honestly, way
- 41:37Speaker 4: that most people don't know. This woman doesn't know that
- 41:40Speaker 4: drag queens aren't singing. Okay, this woman bought Burbank and
- 41:44Speaker 4: she thinks we can just go from restaurant to restaurant
- 41:47Speaker 4: because she loves these restaurants. And I went, no, honey,
- 41:49Speaker 4: that means we are in debt and I will never
- 41:52Speaker 4: have to never get to stop writing, writing and composing.
- 41:57Speaker 4: But you know what, it comes easy to me, and
- 41:59Speaker 4: I'm excited to it. I'm working on a new Pixar film.
- 42:02Speaker 4: It's called Stickermania, and it's the life and a Death
- 42:08Speaker 4: of stickers.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Oh, the death, the life and death of stickers.
- 42:12Speaker 2: I always talk about this. I'm glad there's shedding light
- 42:14Speaker 2: because the Internet killed stickers. It's fucking awful. It's awful
- 42:18Speaker 2: to see. I hate it.
- 42:20Speaker 4: It's very upsetting, but it's incredible the way Pixar will
- 42:24Speaker 4: write for multiple generations. They're writing to the parents who
- 42:27Speaker 4: are bringing the kids about the stickers they grew up on,
- 42:30Speaker 4: and then they're writing to the kids about the fact
- 42:32Speaker 4: that these stickers are gone and now it's being replaced
- 42:35Speaker 4: by the big bad Wolf, the Gift.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I guess there's a one generation they're not writing for.
- 42:40Speaker 2: This is probably the only word.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I'm so angry right now. I'm furious the idea that
- 42:47Speaker 1: a sticker would have a pulse or a heartbeat. Oh,
- 42:50Speaker 1: grinds my gears.
- 42:52Speaker 6: It's fun. I guess where's that one based.
- 42:56Speaker 3: They're doing that in Germany?
- 42:59Speaker 6: Oh fun, that feels very appropriate.
- 43:00Speaker 2: So you're writing like German music for it or something.
- 43:02Speaker 4: No, I don't believe music as a nationality. Maybe that's problematic.
- 43:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 43:09Speaker 4: I just think it should all be staccato, bouncy and
- 43:12Speaker 4: high pitch.
- 43:14Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 43:15Speaker 1: Justin Oh?
- 43:16Speaker 3: Thank you, thanks, say and get it over.
- 43:20Speaker 6: Dying? So just say you're dying. The big big news
- 43:25Speaker 6: is I am dying? Yea of what? Dying? Of this
- 43:32Speaker 6: fucking conversation? Y'all are boring?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Okay, Okay.
- 43:35Speaker 6: I'm going to be at Tenants of the Trees later tonight,
- 43:41Speaker 6: so perform. I'll be a box of the Trees because
- 43:48Speaker 6: life is a dream. Life is a movie and I
- 43:50Speaker 6: plan to live on it. So if you're looking for something,
- 43:52Speaker 6: I'm starting to little residency at Tenants. The first week
- 43:57Speaker 6: of the month, I perform, and I play all the
- 44:01Speaker 6: hits that I love. We do your song a lot, God,
- 44:04Speaker 6: you do your song a lot. It gets booties on
- 44:07Speaker 6: the floor and sometimes I'll throw in a remix of
- 44:10Speaker 6: mine and people love it.
- 44:11Speaker 2: You put us together yeah, keep us separate, please don't
- 44:15Speaker 2: miss some You gotta hear it though.
- 44:17Speaker 6: It works because sometimes what I'll do is I'll use
- 44:19Speaker 6: that same beat and I've made a couple of freestyle
- 44:22Speaker 6: tracks off of it, so it kind of goes like
- 44:24Speaker 6: your SoundBite, like shut the fuck up, and I go
- 44:27Speaker 6: rolling in, rolling in with the homie. Yeah, bet h
- 44:31Speaker 6: bet rolling in, rolling in with a good time.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Listen to me, Yeah, oh my god, listen to me.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Bet He's gonna get pissed.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Never fucking sing over me ever again.
- 44:40Speaker 1: You got a big girl, and I like him.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Girl, you ever feel like you don't want to get
- 44:45Speaker 4: mad again because you might go viral saying what you
- 44:48Speaker 4: might say, like if you rip the dust in a
- 44:50Speaker 4: part right now, that might be a sample.
- 44:52Speaker 7: Rolling with hyundies, rolling with thousands, running with cakes, rolling
- 44:57Speaker 7: with girls. It's rolling with guys.
- 44:59Speaker 2: You fucking piece of fucking shit. Fuck you, you fucking loser,
- 45:04Speaker 2: Go to fucking hell, you fucking piece of shit. Refrigerator,
- 45:12Speaker 2: fuck me, fuck situator.
