- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, good afternoon, listeners. Thank you for listening to Lament
- 0:03Speaker 1: of Hope podcast. And I'm very grateful. This is gonna
- 0:08Speaker 1: be a little unconventional, because if you're watching this, you're
- 0:11Speaker 1: gonna see it's just the logo for the podcast. But Dr.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Katina and I really tried. And unfortunately, we weren't able
- 0:19Speaker 1: to do video, but that's okay.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I mean, it would be cousins to be male cousins, uncles, somebody,
- 0:25Speaker 2: maybe somebody.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Males on her side of the family would, they're all,
- 0:30Speaker 3: and they're all in tune to this thing.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It happens all the time. All the time it happens here.
- 0:36Speaker 3: You know, some guy is without, you know, with somebody,
- 0:39Speaker 3: somebody's sister, they're out, you know, talking to each other somewhere.
- 0:42Speaker 2: And the next.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Day the guy comes in, the hospital beat up, you know,
- 0:47Speaker 3: happens all the time.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:49Speaker 2: It's a very different culture here. Very different.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Well, you know, in a funny way, it's, I mean,
- 0:56Speaker 1: that's another extreme, but here there are so many broken
- 0:58Speaker 1: families that no one cares whether you're dating or not.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Right. Well, that's, that's the point. It's like, which one,
- 1:05Speaker 2: which one do you prefer? I think I prefer this one.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I mean, the U S is so, it's such a mess,
- 1:11Speaker 3: such an absolute mess. You see what happens with the
- 1:13Speaker 3: people's mental health. I mean, it's, it's terrible. It kills me.
- 1:18Speaker 3: You know, we're just, We're just kind of so far
- 1:21Speaker 3: off track. I mean, that's another issue. But yeah, it's tragedy.
- 1:28Speaker 3: The collapse of the American family is a tragedy for everybody.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's interesting because America, we are blessed in so many
- 1:35Speaker 1: ways because we don't see a lot of the hardships
- 1:37Speaker 1: you see all the time. But it does allow us
- 1:41Speaker 1: to have a mask to tragedy because it's happening, but
- 1:44Speaker 1: we don't have to see it. We don't have to
- 1:46Speaker 1: walk there. Whereas in other countries, there's nothing to hide it,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:52Speaker 2: No.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Everybody here has lost brothers in the war. Everybody here
- 1:57Speaker 3: has lost people at young ages to sickness. Everybody, everybody
- 2:01Speaker 3: has lost a kid, you know. A two-year-old brother died
- 2:05Speaker 3: from malaria. This kid died from diarrhea. This kid died
- 2:07Speaker 3: from malnutrition.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I mean, no family's been unscathed. So they're used to it.
- 2:12Speaker 2: It'd be a tragedy.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Well, Dr. Tom, I'm so grateful. I'm looking at the
- 2:17Speaker 1: time and I'm thinking, this poor man. So I need
- 2:19Speaker 1: you to go to bed now, so.
