Doña Dolores Albás, or ‘the Grandmother’, as she was affectionately called was the mother of St. Josemaría Escrivá and played a crucial role in his upbringing, providing a truly Christian home environment. Her son fondly remembered their family traditions of attending Mass, giving alms to the disabled, and praying together on Sundays. She instilled in him a deep prayer life that he continued throughout his life. The Grandmother, along with her daughter Carmen, also sacrificed greatly to support the founding of Opus Dei.
