- 0:02SPEAKER_00: so we have a podcast called Redneck Liberation Theology that I do with Ryan Cagle and I'm real happy about that but it's kind of to advertise my book which is called Redneck Liberation Theology the Upright Men and the book is broken into three parts there's a fiction part called Jesus of Marbury the Redneck Christ which it tells the story of a savior figure from Marbury Alabama
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: and his romance with a Mary Magdalene type character and how they have a ministry together and how they eventually get canceled they don't get crucified because we don't really crucify people anymore but they do get canceled the second part is a theoretical part which really critiques critical race theory the inconsistencies with it how it's you know kind of an illogical theory
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: it looks at the Black Lives Matters movement and how critical race theory played out in the Black Lives Matters movement and why the Black Lives Matters movement eventually got co-opted which is can be directly traced back to critical race theory the third part the
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: The other theory part is a theory of the kingdom of heaven and in our faith tradition which is post-millennialism is that the people are the body of Christ and they are to go out and create the kingdom of heaven on planet earth and then Jesus will come back and rule.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: and my argument is going to be that the automotive free clinic which which we created over the past four years is an example of what the kingdom of heaven can be so it's sort of a theory and a data about what the kingdom of heaven is and what it can be um part three is an empirical study of redneck men
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: ethnography and specifically looking at the ethics of redneck men and how the ethics of redneck men could be a universal type of ethic for the globe as we go forward and face climate disaster apocalypse however you want to name it
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: so that's the three parts of my book I've done four or five interviews um I've written 10 000 words um and I'm excited about it it's going to take me a while to do especially the interviews and the analysis the last thing I'm going to write is the story of the automotive free clinic because I just I can't I'm so close to it right now I can't wrap my head around it but
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I'm really going to and the second to the last thing I'm going to write is the analysis the ethnographic analysis of redneck men which is again an involved process of analyzing interviews with redneck men to pull out the sense of ethics and morals not political ideology ethics and morals that drive redneck men to act the way they act
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: so the purpose of this book is kind of twofold it's one to say hey this is how we can do things in the future and the other other thing is to kind of say hey we need to kind of listen to rednecks too not that we should stop listening to anybody else but that we should not dismiss an entire group of people just because we've been told not to like them or like us
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: so that's the book Redneck Liberation Theology it's interesting I was talking to my wife today um I kind of feel like I'm out of you know I don't I don't know if I have anything new to say um I I've had said all this stuff in one way or the other over the past four or five years and I I need to put it down in an organized and coherent form for people to read
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: but I'm not sure that I have anything new to say I've kind of said it all already so hopefully y'all will like the book it should be entertaining especially with the fiction part of it Jesus of Marbury lives in a 1977 Toyota Chinook RV camper and his job is four-wheel drive recovery so that's pretty cool one of his miracles is going to be his little Chinook camper pulling out
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: uh F-350 Dooley with like snatch blocks and so that's going to be one of the miracles of Jesus of Marbury so should be entertaining I'm excited about it I'm excited to get to work on it probably going to be a bit before I really get to work on it in earnest because I got to have
