- 0:00Hey, guys, welcome to the show. I'm having some issues, as
- 0:05you might guess. I'm trying to get the Twitter spaces up and I'm running
- 0:10into problems with it, like it's not working for some reason, and I
- 0:16don't know why that might be the case. So what I'm trying to do
- 0:23now is start a new space and and do it over normal, like so
- 0:33normally some this is the thing about Twitter spaces. I have some news regardless,
- 0:38so even if there's nothing else I can, like it's at least go
- 0:41into some stuff dealing with gamer Gay and the and the Game Developers Conference some
- 0:48of the stuff related to that. So don't don't sweat it. But I
- 0:53was passed with trying to set up a Twitter spaces so that I can have
- 0:57anybody come in and talk. But spaces is stupid. It's a really stupid
- 1:04feature of Twitter because get this, Okay, it only works on mobile devices
- 1:11and only the host who owns the account can create a space, and the
- 1:18host must host the space from their device. I don't know what like why
- 1:23this is right, So I can only do this on my Android phone,
- 1:26and I can I can't, like you know, say, started on my
- 1:32Android phone and then move over to my browser, because that's what I'd like
- 1:37to do, you know, And so it doesn't make sense. So what
- 1:38I'm trying to do is and I don't know why it's not working, but
- 1:44I'm trying to get Twitter spaces open on my phone and then join the space
- 1:51with Allison's account, which is why I have Allison's account on the screen.
- 1:53I'm logged in on her account and then use Alison to listen in and talk
- 2:00and I can't. I can't do it, Like it's just it's just not
- 2:04working. So yeah, I don't I don't know what is going on with
- 2:09that, And I am sorry to be such a disappointment, but I am
- 2:14kind of like doing this by myself. So and in the past, you
- 2:19know, like Brooke set it up for us and she would host and so
- 2:23I would just join the call and I could just record and I could do
- 2:25it on my browser or whatever. But in terms of hosting, I don't
- 2:29know. And Hannah she did something I don't know, but I wasn't there,
- 2:32so I don't know what the details are. So I'm kind of flying
- 2:37by the seat of my pants and I don't really have like a lot of
- 2:39help. So I don't know what's going on with Twitter spaces. I'm not
- 2:45like able to get it working. But if I figure it out, then
- 2:51we will, you know, go from there. I don't know. So
- 2:55in the meantime then I am disappointing. Yeah, me too. In the
- 3:00meantime though, I can give you guys some different stuff to think about.
- 3:06But first of all, let me put Vivian on the screen and we will.
- 3:10What I'll do is let me think here, I can try to reach
- 3:20out to people and see if any of them can host the space. How
- 3:23about that. Let me see if I can get Because I had a few
- 3:27people interested in coming on airplay doc was gonna come on. So let me
- 3:35let me send a message to some people. I invited VX on, I
- 3:40invited Tachi on Blue you know, Brooke and some others. Disappointed. Yeah,
- 3:50sorry about that. Sorry, So let me but you know what,
- 3:54all right, I'm going to try to do spaces again. See if it
- 4:00works. Happening now surf the normies. I don't know what that is.
- 4:10Maybe somebody else is doing a game or gate text or space. I don't
- 4:15see it though probably not. Pepe has a live stream or there's a spaces
- 4:23for Pepe. That might be related, but I'm not really sure. I'm
- 4:27not seeing anything. All right, forget it. Forget it. Well,
- 4:31let's just okay. Let me just try to create a space one more time.
- 4:35See if I can do it. I gotta do it on my phone.
- 4:39Okay, there it is. There, it is now, it's working.
- 4:42Paste and let me see. I'll do record space, start the space
- 4:51and I will just go And I am now in the space, but not
- 4:58my Twitter closed? Why did that happen? Okay, Twitter's Twitter's Twitter needs
- 5:05help. Elon Musk, get on that. Fix the spaces. It doesn't
- 5:09make sense, bro, fix your spaces. It doesn't make sense. It's
- 5:14like worse than Google hangouts the Skype. How is that possible? The titles
- 5:20have to be unique. Oh I don't know, do they I don't know?
- 5:28Oh? Yeah, here it is. My space is up. Reconnect
- 5:30to space, all right. I guess I'll invite a couple of people and
- 5:38see if it works. So I'm gonna try to invite some folks and see
- 5:45if that works. And my man it closed again. Yeah, this is
- 5:51really unstable, guys, It's really unstable. Is not good? Like I
- 5:58was just trying to invite people into space, and it wouldn't it wasn't working.
- 6:02Let me see if it's still there. It is, it is,
- 6:06Oh, so I got to reconnect? Why why do I have to do
- 6:10that? All right, We're gonna try again. Turn a MIC on.
- 6:15Okay, I'm connected, and let me see if I can get Allison's account
- 6:21in there, so I will find myself the Badger Arcade. It's our space,
- 6:29comrade, and it says here listen live. So I'm gonna join that,
- 6:34and there might be some feedback for myself because I'm gonna be listening to
- 6:40myself. So I'm gonna close my MIC and see if this if my if
- 6:46I can hear myself, and there might be some feedback for myself because I'm
- 6:53gonna be listening to myself. So I'm gonna close my micah, and there
- 7:02might be some feedback for myself because I'm going to be listening to myself.
- 7:09So I'm going to close my mic feedback for myself because I'm going to be
- 7:14listening to myself, So I'm going to close my MIC for myself to myself.
- 7:29So I'm going to close my mic. Yeah, so it's working all
- 7:33right? Uh? You guys should be able to hear me. Right,
- 7:39I'm gonna talk with Allison's account. Maybe I have to, Okay, I
- 7:50may have to give Alison permission to talk, so let me see if I
- 7:55can do that. It should be like a gear or something in here that
- 8:00will let me just settings, maybe captions, sound of view captions, no,
- 8:09click on Allison's account. Invite to speak, invite to co host.
- 8:13There you go, send co host invite. Sweet, and now I think
- 8:20Alison can talk. Let me just check all right. I hope that that
- 8:28wasn't too brutal, and you guys can join his co host. There you
- 8:31go, accept co host invite? All right? Let me just yeah allow
- 8:46okay, press speak failed, try and get all right? All right,
- 9:11Okay, I think that'll work. So Jim Bottle says, you sound pretty
- 9:18good, Brian women, I permit you to talk. Okay. I think
- 9:20I got it now, So I'm talking on Alison's account. Can you guys
- 9:24hear me? Okay? Or is this like brutal? No? It seems
- 9:28fine, okay, all right, So what I'm gonna do now is I
- 9:37gotta send some invitations out or hopefully somebody will notice this and see and then
- 9:43join the call. But what a space is kind of kind of lame.
- 9:46I gotta say no, it needs a lot of work. But now it's
- 9:52fine, okay, good, all right, Well why don't we do this?
- 9:56Okay, So while I'm waiting to see if other people join, I'm
- 9:58looking at the things. Let's look at some different things. So this week
- 10:05we're gonna be talking about gamer Gate. Okay, and oh, Allison is
- 10:11is messaging me? Hold on, well I boot you off if I go
- 10:16on, maybe unless you use a different account. All right, so let
- 10:35me just check your chat. Everything seems to be going well, and I'm
- 10:41just waiting for Alison to get in here. Then it's like if if hmm,
- 10:48yeah, this isn't gonna work unless Alison locks. She has another account,
- 10:52so she might jump in with another a different account. Let me just
- 10:56send her the link. Yeah, Twitter space is kind of gay, though.
- 11:05They got to fix that shit, all right. Anyway, only a
- 11:09slight echo at the end of the words oh yeah, because my phone the
- 11:16reason I can't lower the volume anymore or why that is? Just move this
- 11:22over here so you're not hearing it as much. Yeah, rip headphone uses?
- 11:31Am I too loud? Or is everything. Okay? Are we good?
- 11:39Okay? So anyway, so trying something new, and of course it's
- 11:43a little bit of a mess. Okay, it's perfect, all right.
- 11:46Cool. I just moved the phone further away so I lower my phone volume.
- 11:50But it doesn't let you lower the phone volume all the way. It's
- 11:52like a little bit and I don't know why, but you know, and
- 11:56I can't mute it at all, so I gotta gotta leave that as it
- 12:03is because I am the host. Hopefully though, this thing won't suddenly like
- 12:09drop me, because that's like another thing that's happened in the past. So
- 12:16all right, anyway, so we're talking about Gamergate two or just gamer Gate
- 12:20because it never really ended, and uh, I'm waiting to see what's going
- 12:26on with Alison in the meantime, Oh based Maga pint Royal joined us in
- 12:31the thing. If you want to request, I think there's okay, so
- 12:35I'm kind of new at this tool, but if you want to request to
- 12:39speak, I think there's a button that you can press that will let you
- 12:43do it, and then I can use my authortah to give you the right
- 12:48to speak. So yeah, if you want to speak, just raise your
- 12:56hand and I can I think I can like invite you to speak after that,
- 13:00so I don't have to look at the phone, which means you might
- 13:03hear a little bit of echo. Astro says, raise hand. Yeah,
- 13:07that's how you do it. Anyway, Hopefully these people are screened. Well,
- 13:13no, it's just kind of open. I mean, somebody might come
- 13:16in swinging, but it's fine. It's basically like the people who follow my
- 13:20account and Allison's account. Uh, Like I said, I invited b X
- 13:24because b X, if you guys don't know, she does a lot of
- 13:30work and research into, like, you know, things the government is doing,
- 13:33like the way that they monitor people and like the invasion of privacy stuff
- 13:39and that kind of thing. And in case you're new here, we had
- 13:43BX on our show and she had this whole thing about, you know,
- 13:46essentially how the FEDS are, you know, they're essentially encouraging or like monitoring
- 13:56the in cell forums and then there are people within the in cell forums that
- 13:58are also like driving in cells to commit suicide or transition or commit mass shootings
- 14:05or whatever. And she was exposing that so kind of evolved and when Gamergaate
- 14:11two broke and the whole thing with Sweet Baby came out and oh you're maga
- 14:16pint, Oh do you want to talk? Saranks, Thank you for the
- 14:18two dollars super chat, by the way, appreciate it. When when the
- 14:24gamer Gate thing broke out, we learned because b X was the person who
- 14:28brought to our attention this initiative that the Department of Homeland Security was putting together
- 14:35in order to essentially like redirect or nudge people like seeking out red pill Manisphere
- 14:43content towards what you know, essentially safer options. And these were like,
- 14:48you know, college students taking my phone here, make sure I don't miss
- 14:52any requests. Hey Bobcat joined the chat. Welcome, they're saying, yeah,
- 15:03so she exposed this whole thing. They invested like seven hundred thousand dollars
- 15:09into this initiative, and it's like a big it's a big old, like
- 15:15you know, Homeland Security thing. And with gamer Gay two, there was
- 15:20a similar Interestingly enough, there was a similar thing happening right and you had,
- 15:26Hey, Allison, you request to speak, and I'll give you permission.
- 15:30I think I actually I can invite you speak. So I will invite
- 15:33you as a co host and now you should be able to talk as well.
- 15:41And I'm talking with your account because I'm using mine to host the call,
- 15:46so I'll see you should be getting the approval in just a moment.
- 15:52See if she comes in Bryant is a government Yes, it's government money.
- 16:00Yes. The monitor the stuff for the manisphere was something like seven hundred thousand
- 16:06dollars and the stuff for the gamers, which I was just gonna say,
- 16:08they did the same thing with gamers because they're they're afraid of extremism in the
- 16:14gaming space, which is also still a male space. Let's be real.
- 16:18That's the reason why this is of interest to me, right, And they
- 16:22said I think it was like four hundred thousand, but there's probably more.
- 16:26I mean, let's be real, it's probably way bigger than that. So
- 16:30somebody requested who's requesting? Oh, Alisand I now I got another person,
- 16:40all right, So let me give to at a speaker. Soolson should be
- 16:48able to talk. Now, let me just wait and see if Allison.
- 16:53This thing goes through. Yes, Hello, okay, yeah, there it
- 16:56goes Yeah, can you hear me? I'm here? Yay, Yes.
- 17:00This this app's kind of it's this like this features kind of Ship. So
- 17:07anyway, yeah, this it seems to have a slight bit of wonkiness,
- 17:11but that's what we love, right No, no, no, no,
- 17:15okay, no. I like things to work. I like it when things
- 17:19work. I'm a fan of that. But anyway, I was just sort
- 17:22of like setting up the stage and telling people who I've invited. So you
- 17:26know, Airplay is the guy who made the video documentary Tachyon Blue. I
- 17:32brought them both on for fireside chats. Tekian Blue is the guy who's writing
- 17:36the book on it. B X is the woman that we spoke to that
- 17:40was talking about the Department of Homeland Security initiative to essentially like redirect people away
- 17:45from Manisphere red pill content. But they're also she also exposed a similar initiative
- 17:51to monitor gamers for extremism in like and they're working with like Roadblocks and Discord
- 17:59and other social media spaces. I think they're working with developers too, like
- 18:03EA and Activision which is crazy and Steam. So and again, this is
- 18:12just monitoring men, like you know, at the end of the day,
- 18:15it's there's just monitoring male spaces, even if there are women in them.
- 18:19That goes for the Manisphere stuff. As well, and the in cell forums
- 18:23and all of that, So it's all it's all related, right, kid
- 18:27Astro says, why are you using Twitter spaces if discord stage exists already?
- 18:33Well, because Twitter spaces lets anybody join in, and so I can like
- 18:37give them a platform if they want to like give their thoughts, and a
- 18:40lot of the gamer Gate discussion is happening on Twitter and YouTube, so there
- 18:45is also that, like you know, like like the people that I listed
- 18:49off, not all of them are in our discord. In fact, I
- 18:52don't think any of them are, so I wouldn't be able to get them
- 18:56on mord. Sith says, correct me if I'm wrong. But the only
- 19:00kind of extremism I've seen in my years of online gaming has been mostly squeakers
- 19:03and power tripping admins in other words, impotent king cole types. Yeah.
- 19:08I mean, well, the people that I mean, the people who are
- 19:14probably the most extreme are the ones that are actually like you know, calling
- 19:18like essentially calling for people to be banned off of Steam and like, uh,
- 19:25you know, get to tou tou, calling for like the United Nations
- 19:30and like the Department of Whole Land Security to monitor people that sounds extreme to
- 19:33me, Like when you think half the country hates your guts and wants to
- 19:37kill everybody, that's that's kind of extreme in my opinion. Uh okay,
- 19:41so somebody else's oh, go ahead, else what we're we gonna say?
- 19:45Oh, I was just gonna say slightly. I guess this is a bit
- 19:47of a wonky sound. So if you just interject a little bit, it
- 19:52expects you to like really commit to it or something like oh okay, like
- 19:57a minor comment like just oh yeah, I agree, or something you have
- 20:00to yeah, yeah, yeah, right, like what I just did.
- 20:03Yeah, ok, let's just totally derailing. So I'm going to keep my
- 20:07minor comments to myself. I'll just all right, Well, I have a
- 20:11couple of things we can go through, but I do I did see somebody
- 20:15that wants to talk. I'm going to approve of a Bobcat of the family
- 20:18Quevax being give our ap it's a weird name. I'm gonna approve of that
- 20:23person to talk. So here we go. Let's see what you you you
- 20:27have been approved to speak. It might take a moment because sometimes there's a
- 20:33bit of lag. So what did you want to say? Waiting to see
- 20:40if they start talking hello, Hello, Well maybe you should talk about one
- 20:48of the things that you wanted to talk about while we're waiting, because they
- 20:51might be just preparing their thoughts. Bobcat here, can you hear me?
- 20:56Okay, yeah, we can hear you. Finally, Okay, Well I
- 21:00just get the little symbol saying I could talk. Is this going to be
- 21:04about the history of Gamergate or are do you have a gamer Gate three point
- 21:08zero that we're looking at now? Because I have much information about the history.
- 21:15Well, we were there. I don't know if like, if you
- 21:18I was gonna say, if you don't need like, does anyone watching or
- 21:25that is in this call need a history lesson on gamer Gate? I'm I'm
- 21:29open to hearing everybody's perspective, like, uh, you know, just uh,
- 21:33I mean, how how long of a history? Are we talking?
- 21:37Vodka like this? Okay? I was. I was listening to a local
- 21:42NPR station when I heard about this woman who wrote this game called Depression Quest,
- 21:48who is harassed for a just even posting the fact that she wrote this
- 21:55this game. It was it was posted on huh Rock Paper Shotgun. I
- 22:02believe it was a Nason Grayson who wrote the article, who said, I
- 22:06haven't played the game, but let me lead my article with the top ten
- 22:08games that are coming up this year. Zoe Quinn wrote the game with two
- 22:15men. The reaction in that article was I cannot believe that she would make
- 22:23a game like this by actually mentally ill depressed people. They weren't harassing her,
- 22:30they were just leaving comments on that article. And so that's like the
- 22:34first Oh my god, I'm a victim. People said mean things about me.
- 22:40The two men who helped her write the game, they never said anything
- 22:45about being victims. Okay. Zoe then later put the game on Steam,
- 22:52and if you get a green light, it gets sold on Steam, selling
- 22:57it for zero dollars, and of course she complained that she was getting her
- 23:02asked about that. She then released it the day Robin Williams took his own
- 23:10life because he had Louis body dementia, and her former boyfriend Aaron Johnny was
- 23:21just shocked that she would take advantage of someone else's tragedy and he wrote the
- 23:26Zoe Post. Zoe Post. He originally put on something awful where he thought
- 23:36that Zoe would get a kind response, and it was about how she's abusive
- 23:41and how she gaslights people and what if you don't mind me asking, what's
- 23:47Something Awful for people who might not know? Something Awful is one of the
- 23:49og forums for all kinds of stuff? Is it kind of like pro like
- 24:00before four chan or before reddit? Kind of? I believe it was before,
- 24:03yeah, before even before four Chan, and he certainly before read it.
- 24:07I'm one of the og redditors. You can you can check out you
- 24:11bobcat on Reddit or at bob kitten on twitter x as we call it now.
- 24:21So Aaron, Aaron your euro in Yeah, yeah, I know,
- 24:29I know. The gentleman wrote the wrote the Zoe post and he put it
- 24:33on Something Awful where it was immediately taken down. Now, Zoe was a
- 24:41longtime member of Something Awful and she was especially in the hell dump thread where
- 24:49they would out furries, dox furries, and then they later started doxing people
- 24:56who actually should be docs I think. But she admitted to a crippling held
- 25:00them addiction for several years. So the day that Aaron posted his Zoe post,
- 25:11his his friend who I won't mention because she's she wrote, she wrote
- 25:18an article. You can find it. You can you can find an article.
- 25:19She sort of regrets doing this. So Zoe gets a call you've been
- 25:27held dumped and she knew exactly what that meant. Hmm. Okay, now
- 25:33nobody cared. Nobody cared until Matt Jarbo made a video about the the Zoe
- 25:45post, which Zoe then filed a fake DMCA request. Okay, committing perjury
- 25:55and using her real name and her real address to do that. So Matt
- 25:59Jarbo certainly new Mundane Matt is his YouTube name, and he has been on
- 26:03spaces. Also, yeah, I know, we know MONDAYE. Matt actually
- 26:08like we we yeah, we know all these people we were involved with.
- 26:12Okay, well I mean there may be someone, yeah, but yeah no,
- 26:15no for sure, it's okay, let's retread it. But yeah,
- 26:18who doesn't know? Yeah, So okay, until this outrageous fake this perjury
- 26:26happened, nobody cared. Then Total Biscuit, who is a game critic,
- 26:33a British man who's a game critic who died of colon cancer. Yes uh
- 26:41uh, wrote a very kind critique of well, don't do that, don't
- 26:48make a fake DMCA request. He was viciously attacked by Zoe's friends. Okay,
- 26:55yeah, viciously, viciously okay, and he had to like just say,
- 27:03I'm just I'm not complaining about anything except this illegal act that someone has
- 27:10committed. And he was a lawyer. He passed the bar when he was
- 27:14like twenty two years old in the United Kingdom. Okay. So now,
- 27:19poor Aaron then gets Zoe not her original name, who files a restraining order
- 27:30against him, and the judge says, okay, you can't even talk about
- 27:34her. He never said, hey, everybody go abuse her. Nothing.
- 27:41He was the kindest, gentlest soul that I have ever known, certainly,
- 27:49but the judge said, you can't even talk about her. The lawyer he
- 27:55had represented him said, now I'm gonna do this for free. This is
- 27:59this is ridiculous. So after like a year and a half or a couple
- 28:03of years, he Aaron was desperate because they get they get down to the
- 28:07end of this, this whole thing. He can never talk about anything ever
- 28:11online again. And I told him that Eugene Volok from the Voloch Conspiracy,
- 28:19who at the time had the section in the Washington Post, to talk to
- 28:23him because he's looking for First Amendment cases. Uh huh. So Aaron's like
- 28:30you're kidding me, Like, no, I'm serious, Like I know what
- 28:34Eugene is up to. So Aaron contacted Eugene, and then Eugene Voloch and
- 28:40his friends represented represented Aaron Crobono through all the things, and it got to
- 28:48the point where Zoe was desperate to drop the case, to drop the restraining
- 28:56order and have everything be moot so she would never have seen been seen as
- 28:59loose. So but but Eugene is like, no, we're gonna, We're
- 29:04gonna, We're gonna make the court decide this. And uh, it got
- 29:08all the way to the Supreme Court in Massachusetts and they finally said, well,
- 29:12there's nothing we can do, and so Zoe then goes on Twitter It's
- 29:17like I won. All she won was dropping the case that she had falsely
- 29:25accused someone of doing something wrong with Yeah. Uh, and then everything else
- 29:30falls out of that because I think ultimately the whole situation with Zoe was just
- 29:37you know, maybe the flash point, But I don't think it's the real
- 29:38reason why. Yeah, I'm was gonna ask, do you think that's the
- 29:42reason, because I think that it was moved beyond Zoe Quinn pretty quick,
- 29:48oh most of us, But I don't know if if this, if this,
- 29:51uh, if you believe that Bobcat. The person who was hurt the
- 29:56most by being a Oxton abused was Phil Fish Mm hmm. Who did that?
- 30:07I have no idea, but they his entire companies. Everything was was
- 30:11released online. He's the Fez guy. The Fez guy, the guy who
- 30:18had a documentary made about how cool it was that he was making this game
- 30:21while he was ripping off the guy who actually made the game. Oh,
- 30:26now that's interesting. I didn't know that. Okay, I got a couple
- 30:30more things I've got to go. But so the the Vivian James is a
- 30:37lovely character. Her her violet and green. It's not purple and green.
- 30:41It's the violet and green striding to the u VG video game. Uh,
- 30:48you're you're familiar with Ellie Prizeman, who made the the shirt that Matt Taylor,
- 30:52the guy who landed a thing on an asteroid or a comet. Yeah,
- 30:57yeah, the shortcake guy. Yeah. He was canceled by the Verge,
- 31:02I believe, which also wrote a very recent article about Gamergay, the
- 31:07same outlet that made him essentially, you know, give a tearful apology.
- 31:14Remember a shirt Kate Allison. We reported on it years when it first happened,
- 31:17we reported on it go ahead. Ellie Prizeman had handmade that that bowling
- 31:25shirt with pinaples on it. It was like, it's a very tame shirt.
- 31:30And Matt is covered with tattoos that Ellie Prizeman's husband made and Ellie,
- 31:36Ellie had not been sewing for a very long time, but she's very talented
- 31:40at it. And so I suggested that Ellie make Vivian James hoodies. Yeah,
- 31:48I did that on Twitter. I suggested on Twitter, and then I
- 31:51went on on Reddit, on Kotoku in Action sub reddit, and I got
- 31:56a lot of people to say I would buy one in a heartbeat. So
- 32:00she she then later made hundreds of Vivian James hoodies and sold them for a
- 32:05quite reasonable price. And there's a very there. They were excellent quality.
- 32:10Wow, that's I you know, I did not know about that. Do
- 32:14you know if those can you still act? Can you still get Vivian James
- 32:16hoodies? No? She Uh she did two runs of them. Uh.
- 32:22I think she's done with that. She's now she's doing some other things on
- 32:25YouTube. But so, there was a person who had a very large amount
- 32:30of money, whose girlfriend at the time bought one of the Vivian James hoodies
- 32:37and modeled it and it was on uh the Ellie Prizeman website a picture of
- 32:44her and her cosplay name is Nicky Moxie mm hmm and her husband ahead her
- 32:52husband now is Palmer Lucky. Yeah, you know who Palmer Lucky is.
- 33:01No, no, I'm sorry, I don't I don't get the reference.
- 33:06Palmer Lucky is the creative of the Oculus rift. He's oh to Mark Zuckerberg
- 33:12for seven hundred million dollars. So Palmer Lucky is related to Nicky Moxy,
- 33:21who modeled the married who modeled the Vivian Vivian James sweater hoodie hoodie made by
- 33:29the woman who made the asteroid shirtcase shirt. Yes, wow in this small
- 33:37world. Well, those are interesting link links I didn't know about. Can
- 33:45you do you mind following me on Twitter? And my dms are open at
- 33:49Honey Badger Arcade. No, no, no, I'm using Allison's account,
- 33:52but my account is Honey Badger Arcade. Is the person hosting the stream Badger
- 33:58Arcade is hosting Yeah, Badger Arcade, that's the one, and just send
- 34:00a DM with those names, so I can like look look into those people
- 34:05more, because that's if you I mean, I am recording this. I
- 34:08can just play it back later too, you know, not a big deal.
- 34:12You gotta go, you gotta go. Yeah, follow at bob Kitten
- 34:15or yeah at bob Kitten on Twitter is the best way. All right,
- 34:20thank you? Okay, thanks for thanks for the history lesson too, rip
- 34:25alec Helka, Yes, yes, rest in peace, alec Heloka. Now
- 34:31that's now that's a real victim. All right, see you, all right,
- 34:36thank you? All right, does anyone else have a request to speak?
- 34:40Okay? Can I please the Watson? What is the reference? Alec
- 34:45Oh? Well, okay, that's a really interesting rabbit hole. If anyone
- 34:51else is in here that wants to talk about airplay is here? Hey Airplay?
- 34:53Do you want to talk? Uh? He made the documentary, the
- 34:58video documentary about gamer Gates, two two part series. Very well done,
- 35:02very very well done. He wants to bring it to theaters, by the
- 35:06way. So yeah, so like if you you know, like I don't
- 35:14know if you know how it was done, but I've been meaning to get
- 35:15back to him about this. You know that like when Cassie J was doing,
- 35:22like hosting screenings. Did Cassie J did the red Pill? Yeah,
- 35:28men's issues community, which is actually really distinct from what the red Pill became,
- 35:34I suppose, But I guess that's what happens when you just completely ignore
- 35:37men's issues, you know, you get a bunch of men who have to
- 35:39deal with a society that's incredibly callous towards them. Yeah, and they end
- 35:45up adapting in their own ways, and sometimes that causes little splinter groups.
- 35:50Sure, but yeah, the red pill concept is now gone in a very
- 35:54different direction than Men's Issues, or at least like it's been taken in a
- 36:00different direction. I don't know. Yeah, but yeah, so CASSIEJ did
- 36:04that? What were you what were you saying? Oh? So, Well,
- 36:07Cassie J had this setup and I think Jordan Peterson did this too when
- 36:10he was doing a tour where she had the film out there and she wanted
- 36:15to bring it to theaters, but she wasn't able to like put them in
- 36:20theaters herself, so instead she set up a kind of service where someone could,
- 36:25like, you know, if they got enough ticket sales, they could
- 36:29have a theater do a screening and so I did that for her. So
- 36:32I did a screening and it was like a long time ago. I don't
- 36:35remember how it all worked out or whatever, but I had a screening hosted
- 36:42in Chicago. It was actually in a downtown theater, kind of a nice
- 36:45one, and it was only only it had to be like on a certain
- 36:50time where there wasn't like you know, like not a weekend day or something
- 36:52like that. But you can set that up and you do it all online
- 36:55and then people can buy tickets online and then you just like, you know,
- 36:59you have to be the host of the screening. And I wanted to
- 37:01help because he wants to bring his movie to theaters, so I wanted to
- 37:05help him with that because I do think it's important, you know, an
- 37:12important film that sort of documents everything that happened, mainly because if you don't
- 37:17know, like today, if you go to Wikipedia and you look up gamergate,
- 37:21it literally describes it as a harassment campaign on Wikipedia, unless you go
- 37:25to Chinese Wikipedia, which case it's actually more accurate, you know. But
- 37:31anyway, Yeah, so that's what that's what air airplay is. And if
- 37:37you want to talk airplay, you can just like request to speak. I
- 37:39think in Twitter spaces and I'll give you permission, but I don't know if
- 37:44you know anything about how to do that. Like we did a screening and
- 37:47then we screen it in Saskatchewan or something we screened parental alienation. Yes,
- 37:55yes, yes, we didn't end up screening. I think I think it
- 38:00was actually Justin Troutier who screened something in Alberta that we attend. Are we
- 38:07attended a Q and A afterwards. Yeah, that's what I was thinking about.
- 38:10Yeah, that that might be h might be something to look into in
- 38:15terms of getting the gamer Gate maybe exactly out there. Yeah, maybe maybe
- 38:20I can reach out to Justin and ask him, like you know, for
- 38:22help with that because I don't know how to do it. I don't remember.
- 38:25But he used to be that you could do it through a website or
- 38:29something like that. So indeed, but uh well, oh, Alacloka,
- 38:35So I was gonna tell Okay, Alakka, I'm wondering about that. All
- 38:37right, this is interesting, Okay, so I gotta get it. It's
- 38:39related to the Sweet Baby inc Thing, if you could believe it. So,
- 38:46alec Heloka, let me just do a search here for this stuff first
- 38:52and get his name up because I don't want to get this wrong. How
- 39:00Loca Halalka, Halaoka al Khalka. There he is okay so Ala Kaloka was
- 39:12a Canadian indie game developer and co founder of independent game companies Infinite Ammo,
- 39:17Infinite Fall, and bit Blocked. Okay, and he was. He was
- 39:24mainly known for an award winning title Night in the Woods. It was a
- 39:30video game I never played it, and another one called Aquaria Aquaria and so
- 39:36he was. So he owned this company called Infinite Ammo. Infinite Ammo is
- 39:40a I think there they are a company that funds independent video game projects or
- 39:45other creative independent projects in Canada. Okay, I think they're based out He
- 39:50was based out of Winnipeg anyway. Ala Kaloka was actually a part of this
- 39:57whole Zoe Quinn thing because she he was another person that I believe she accused,
- 40:04Yes she did. She accused him of grape okay, and even though
- 40:10there was no evidence, she didn't go to police. Nothing was found out
- 40:15like and no no proof was had. He lost his job, he was
- 40:20canceled, he lost his company and everything, and it eventually led to him
- 40:25taking his own life on October. I think it was October twenty ninth or
- 40:30October thirtieth of twenty nineteen that he took his own life, and I actually
- 40:37made a video about it on Honeybager Arcade the anniversary of his self deletion.
- 40:45I don't know what we have to use this language, but anyway, so
- 40:49he took his own life because he couldn't handle the pressure and the stress of
- 40:52this allegation from Wigan Tell and his sister put out a statement when they learned
- 40:58about it. She was the person who broke the story. And his sister's
- 41:01name is Eileen Heloka, okay if I remember correctly, and in her note
- 41:09she basically talked about how you know she's gonna miss him and all of that,
- 41:15but she also made it a point to say that despite everything and all
- 41:20of his problems, I believe victims. Okay. So she sided with Zoe
- 41:23Quinn on this allegation even though there was no evidence, and then she took
- 41:30over his company and now she runs Infinite Ammo, which funds Sweet Baby,
- 41:37Inc. And several other sort of like affiliate companies like Weird Ghosts and There's
- 41:43a Baby Ghost. I think so this is she is directly there is a
- 41:49direct connection from Zoe Quinn to alec Heloka, to his suicide, to his
- 41:57sister owning his company and use his company to fund Sweet Baby, Inc.
- 42:01Now only the people who really do the work and know about like the old
- 42:07roots of gamergate, would be able to put this together. Most people talking
- 42:10about it today they either didn't think it was very important, you know,
- 42:15or or they didn't like look into it that much. Now all of it's
- 42:19coming out now, these weird connections. But yeah, that's the story of
- 42:23Ala Kaloka. So he is a guy who took his own life because of
- 42:27a false allegation, or at least an allegation that was never proven. I'll
- 42:31put it that way. So al said, are you there? Are you
- 42:37talking? You're muted for some reason. I'll request it. Who is who
- 42:45is asking to speak? Uh? Oh shit, Hold on a second.
- 42:52My my thing might have ended. See yeah, it says it my recording.
- 43:04I got a recording thirty three minutes ago. What it ended? I
- 43:13gotta start it over against guys. I'm sorry, give me a second.
- 43:15I gotta create a new space. Something bonkers is going on. Yeah,
- 43:22faces is kind of shit. Let's do this. I'll just make another one
- 43:30art three say done, start the space and I will invite people again.
- 43:39Chit chat cat airplay. I'm sorry, guys, Packer girl. She did
- 43:45some good work techy on Blue zaraanks, Hana facts and Allison and I think
- 44:00that's it. So okay, So it says three people have been eight people
- 44:05have been invited to the space. I am live again. Metal issues.
- 44:10Yeah, I know, technical difficulties with the Badgers. You know, I'm
- 44:15not I'm not responsible. This is this is a space's problem. If I
- 44:21need to, I could just talk to Alison and I'm not able to speak
- 44:23anymore. And it keeps repeating, Yeah, this is glitched. It it
- 44:35crashed. I guess I could just say that I set up a new one,
- 44:45all right, Yeah, I don't I don't get it. Do you
- 44:49know what it might be? Would it makes sense that this could crash because
- 44:52my phone was sitting idle for too long? Is that possible? I don't
- 44:59know. Hats for Jojo, But if you guys follow everything I said about
- 45:04Alec Haloka, because I think that's a really crucial part of this whole story,
- 45:08because the gamer Gate operates or the people opposing gamer Gate, because I
- 45:14think that to be. Let me let me give Alison the link again.
- 45:20Hold on, and I got to join anyways, Gamergate Lives. Wait where
- 45:27is it? Hold on a second, what's going on here? Let me
- 45:31refresh the page. Something is going wonky with Twitter spaces. But just going
- 45:40to listen live, start listening. Hold on a second, what's going on
- 45:45here? Let me refresh the page. Sum is going I'm rejoining, but
- 45:52it's gonna be. But just going to listen live, start listening? All
- 45:59right, all right, uh, just the moment, just waiting on to
- 46:23join Alice or to get Alison's account to join the call. So just waiting
- 46:37on to join Alice. All right? That yeah, I'm back now,
- 46:47okay, so I'll see if let's see if anybody else joins. But I
- 46:52did it again, so anyway, primary question I have is why are you
- 46:58running it off a phone rather than through a brow This is a problem with
- 47:00Twitter or x or whatever, so like spaces and if somebody knows the answer
- 47:07to this conundrum, please help me out because I could not find out how
- 47:10to do it. Okay, now Alison is here, let me invite her
- 47:13to co host really quick. You can, I can you can see that
- 47:19Allison is back though, I'm co hosts. Invite There we go, and
- 47:23I will invite her to speak as well. There she goes, okay,
- 47:29and q cell is here. Hello, n q cel welcome. Okay.
- 47:34So yeah, so anyway that the issue is that Twitter, I'll see you
- 47:39there, yes, okay, good, yeah, okay, right, yeah,
- 47:44yeah, no, I can hear you. Yeah, yeah, this
- 47:45is a space's thing. Why don't we what why don't we start it through
- 47:51the other account, like the Honey Badger radio account and then maybe you'll see
- 47:54more people. I don't know. Maybe that's too much complexity. Oh but
- 47:59the thing is, I was just about to explain, no, no,
- 48:01no, no, this is the problem though you would have to host it
- 48:06because because I don't. Okay, So the thing is, this is the
- 48:08thing about space is what pisses me off about it. Okay. You can
- 48:15only start a space from the mobile app. You can't do it in a
- 48:19browser, so I have to That's why it's so spotty too, isn't it.
- 48:24Yes, So you can start a spaces in the mobile app. I
- 48:30don't know why, but you cannot do it in a browser. Now,
- 48:35unless there's a way to open the mobile app in a browser, which I
- 48:38guess there probably is a workaround like that. That's kind of like the situation
- 48:44I'm in. So I have to like start it in my phone, which
- 48:46is stupid, and then then I have to join because the audio from my
- 48:52phone is going to go out to the show, right, so I'd have
- 48:54to join on another account so that I can hear the audio from within the
- 48:59call and then use that as the account I'm speaking through, which is why
- 49:02I'm speaking to you through Honey Badger Bite Twitter account. Yeah, and then
- 49:12it just it just crashed completely before for some reason. Yeah, I don't
- 49:19know why that is. I mean, I don't know, Like I apologize,
- 49:22guys, what I the only okay, I got a request to talk,
- 49:24But the only logic that I could conclude, like why it crashed is
- 49:30maybe because my phone was sitting idle long enough and like you know, it
- 49:35went to a black screen. Maybe that's why. But I don't know if
- 49:38that's true. Well, seems like that seems very unwieldy. Unwieldy, Yes,
- 49:45that would be a good Yeah, So in Q cell wants to talk,
- 49:51so I'm gonna let them talk, but see if they want to say
- 49:53anythings. Uh, in q CL you have been approved to speak. Are
- 50:01you there? Well, it seems like it always has a little bit of
- 50:05a lag while the person there is there is also a lot of lag.
- 50:07It's kind of ship right, Hello, can you hear me? Yeah?
- 50:09We can, Yes, yes, we can. Great. Yeah. In
- 50:14terms of just just starting it out, because I have some both that are
- 50:17not necessarily a coin yield. If you're looking to to like host it on
- 50:22the desktop, you can use something like blue Stacks, which is a phone
- 50:24emulator, so you can like have a virtual phone running in on your desktop.
- 50:30It might help stuff with the with this phone going to sleep or losing
- 50:35data connection and stuff like that, because it's the network connection is going to
- 50:37be using your busy network connection, so eventually you might look into that.
- 50:43It's fairly easy. I've been using it because for the longest time the spaces
- 50:45was only available on mobile, even as a listener. I'm not even sure
- 50:50when they added it on the desktop, but ever since then it has been
- 50:54But it's been dropping like you suddenly like you're talking and nobody's healing, nobody
- 51:00here's you. Right, It's it's very very yanky, and I think it's
- 51:04because it's primarily a mobile mobile only feature from the own set, and they
- 51:10sort of didn't. It's apparently rather difficult to Jerry riggid or or they apparently
- 51:16they don't really want to rewrite it, so they just making compatibility layers one
- 51:22after another or one on top of another, and it eventually gets Yeah,
- 51:27well the result is what it is. So well, I appreciate the suggestion.
- 51:31I'll look into it, just uh, whenever you get a chance to
- 51:36send me the name again, and I'll just search for it after that.
- 51:37Sure, the complete show will be on Rumble and YouTube, though I mean
- 51:44complete with also the technical difficulties, which yeah, pretty much what it is.
- 51:50It is, Yeah, it is what it is. But anyway,
- 51:53so did you have anything else you wanted to say besides yes, yes,
- 51:57I have thoughts. I have, you know, long long time a caller,
- 52:00first time listener or however it is. Uh, yeah, I've been,
- 52:06you know, watching you on your shoulders, like since twenty sixteen,
- 52:08so I'm sort of kind of sort of been around the block using various accounts.
- 52:15You're a G, is what you're saying. You're a G. Sure,
- 52:19let's let's let's let's call it that. I one thing that is,
- 52:27well, I suppose the question that I have asked myself is like, what
- 52:30I what I expect to see from this, because it seems to me that
- 52:36even with the with the with the sort of first game gamer Gate and whatever
- 52:39is happening now, it's always been a kind of reactive uh sort of audial
- 52:46reactive kind of endeavor because it mostly was it was the first game agame was
- 52:52kept going simply because the locals and and the collectively insane people that are the
- 52:59instigation it kept coming back to the well, right, that was like every
- 53:05month or every week they came up with, you know, you know,
- 53:07some insane stuff, send sending the MCA, you know, complaining about harassment,
- 53:14creating more articles, and just sort of kept feeding the flames right for
- 53:19a really long time to the point but they just became louts, right,
- 53:22You just you just sort of had to laugh at them because they were sort
- 53:27of doing the same thing all over and over again. And it seems to
- 53:30me that that all can stop whenever they want to write that there's not necessarily
- 53:36any kind of any kind of logic as to why they should be going on
- 53:40with it, Like you may say, for for the first time, around
- 53:45for people like Stukesian and so Equin it was a grift, like it was
- 53:49an entire The primary motivation was to get eyes on whatever they were trying to
- 53:52sell, beat games or speaking engagements, and from that point of view,
- 53:58they did well for themselves. Obviously you can can can't deny them that.
- 54:02But it seems to me that this time around that the news cycle has accelerated
- 54:08to the point where uh and and and it's not sort of it's not necessarily
- 54:16even centered on it. Well, it's centered on the sweet baby and stuff.
- 54:20But I don't think that this is going to do this they go,
- 54:25they're going to make the same mistake this time around, right, So what
- 54:30are your thoughts on that? I agree to all this stuff, but I
- 54:34will I will say that the reason why it's going to be the same is
- 54:37because they cannot help themselves and they the last. Okay, so this might
- 54:42get a little bit too like big picture, but I think that these people
- 54:46have a problem with pride and narcissism. They cannot let go of the idea
- 54:53they might be wrong, and they will double down until like they lose everything
- 54:59because of how much of themselves is at stake. So they're I mean,
- 55:05like when you said you know that there's always like new outrage or articles or
- 55:10whatever. At first I thought you were saying maybe that like it's kind of
- 55:15like a useless, you know, cycle of people feeding into each other's drama.
- 55:19But but I think it is legitimately one sided. Like cab Rambo,
- 55:25who's created the Steam group, who I've had on the show, He's just
- 55:29a normal guy that lives in Brazil, and you know, he doesn't like
- 55:34the direction that the games that he enjoyed were headed, and so he did
- 55:37something that he probably thought was completely benign, like oh, just make a
- 55:43list and I'll avoid these developers and whatever. Right, And it just like
- 55:47the reaction from Sweet Baby and all of their friends in the press and in
- 55:53the media and everything was actually, like what started this whole mess. It
- 55:59wasn't cabrutists, it wasn't the people in its community, It wasn't the gaming
- 56:02public that just wants to be left alone. It was these people who just
- 56:07cannot leave people alone. And so that is going to happen. But the
- 56:13thing is too, is that this is a bigger thing than just video games.
- 56:16This is like everywhere, this is our whole world, now, the
- 56:21whole Western world, is basically this enormous feminize like you know, motherly instinct
- 56:29coming out of these people. And and they want to like bring everyone else
- 56:34down to their level, and they don't. They actually don't like necessary.
- 56:38I mean, they benefit from the grift, but they don't really care about
- 56:43the grift that much. It's just about satisfying themselves and this need for control.
- 56:47And there are plenty of other people, like in positions of government and
- 56:51politics and the media that will see an advantage for themselves because they're the same
- 56:55kind of person and they'll jump on that too. And so the one thing
- 57:00that we the thing about this is for me anyway, it's very easy for
- 57:04us to win, and we will. And we didn't lose last time either,
- 57:08because some people will say that we did, but but I would say
- 57:12we did. We made people aware of this and it led to a number
- 57:16of other changes in our culture that probably would have gone completely unnoticed had not
- 57:22been for gamer game. And I think that like people have this is the
- 57:25reason why I upsets them the most, because they are they they are losing
- 57:30the narrative, you know, like it's like it's unraveling and they're losing their
- 57:36minds. Okay, so just just one point of like a technical issue.
- 57:40I'm hearing a faint echo from you, Brian. I don't know if anybody
- 57:45else is. I know I can't. I can't help it because I have
- 57:50to use my phone to connect and I can't mute my audio completely. It
- 57:55won't let me mute it. So yeah, I know, I know.
- 58:00I'm sorry, but that's just the reality. Okay, So this is just
- 58:04a reality of of of spaces. Somebody has had this problem and knows how
- 58:09to fix it, which well he suggested me getting like the app on my
- 58:14computer, but I can't do that now because they're in the middle of this.
- 58:16So yeah, no, we got to just plow through. Yeah,
- 58:21keep going, just badger on. Yeah. Well what I what I was
- 58:24gonna say is what we need, I think, and it's sort of why
- 58:28I went back to writing, which incidentally, you know, guys, I
- 58:31was originally a storyteller, not whatever this is. So, but I realized
- 58:39that we need we need stories if we're really going to be going to combat
- 58:45this. What they're taking over is our stories and our and through stories,
- 58:51our understanding of ourselves and what we're capable of. They want to make us
- 58:54small and insignificant and obedient in also constrained by whatever biological factor that they have.
- 59:05You know, they've they've decided like your purple Therefore you go on this
- 59:08part of the intersectionality pyramid hierarchy. You're the purple cast, you know,
- 59:15and you're on the bottom that kind of thing. So they're using these stories
- 59:21to make us feel small and incapable and helpless and frozen in place usually beneath
- 59:27us, beneath them morally. And what we need is stories that break that
- 59:30apart and open us up back up to who we are. And that's why,
- 59:35you know, I'm trying to write the story that I'm writing, and
- 59:38I invite everybody else to, you know, put their own voice in and
- 59:43develop their own talents in terms of storytelling if you have them, and also
- 59:46invest in the storytellers who aren't interested in making people's feel small anyway. It's
- 59:54a little spiel there, so well, yeah, I think I think that's
- 1:00:00what people are doing. That's what I'm saying, like they like, this
- 1:00:02is the thing. It's so easy for us to win. I think people
- 1:00:06have been doing it. You vote with your wallet because this is the thing
- 1:00:08that they try to do. They get into something that you love and they
- 1:00:12corrupt it. And what you have to do is you have to break up
- 1:00:15with it like you would you know, like a like a toxic relationship.
- 1:00:20And you go and you say, Okay, this is not the thing that
- 1:00:22I that I started dating when I first met you. You're not the same
- 1:00:25creature. So I'm going to go do something else now. And so you
- 1:00:29support the stuff that does acknowledge your humanity and it does represent beauty and truth
- 1:00:36because and those two are basically the same. And you support the stuff that
- 1:00:39works, and you may remain vigilant against the stuff that you know is being
- 1:00:45made by people who hate you and they want to destroy your you know,
- 1:00:50they want to destroy like beauty itself. And that's kind of what is happening.
- 1:00:53And that's what well anyway, that's what I I mean. I'm basically
- 1:00:57saying the same thing you're saying, but in a different way. I'm not
- 1:01:00able to program video games, but there are people who are out there that
- 1:01:05I do want to do good work, right, and so they should be
- 1:01:07supported. Well, yeah, and it is I think that this is what
- 1:01:12they're really after. I mean, if you look at it, they're after
- 1:01:14all of the all of the organizations that tell us what it is to be
- 1:01:20human, tell us what truth is, and open ourselves up to our own
- 1:01:24capabilities, and they want to shut every one of them down. And the
- 1:01:29way that you fight back against that is, again, like Brian was saying,
- 1:01:32you just don't don't invest in what they want you to invest in,
- 1:01:38and start building your own build up what you want to see. I once
- 1:01:43got banned from a convention for saying that, build what you want to see
- 1:01:47in the world. And the more people who realize that they don't have to
- 1:01:52be passive consumers of what they're told and start to become active co creators of
- 1:01:59this world and the world of stories, the better. The more people who
- 1:02:04who who put their voice into into telling the story of being human than the
- 1:02:10better, the better off we all are. And uh, yeah, so
- 1:02:14that's uh, that's my my three cents, three cents, not not five.
- 1:02:20I want to give in q SELL another chance to talk and because that's
- 1:02:25kind of why we did this, So in q SL, what do you
- 1:02:28have anything to add to that? Yeah, a bunch of other things.
- 1:02:30Uh, you know, each one of these always expands into a long period
- 1:02:37of time. But if you have someone else, so that's that's you.
- 1:02:38You can put me any time. I okay, well I can give it
- 1:02:42to chit Chat Cat because she also or he or she, I'm not really
- 1:02:45sure if it's a girl requested to speak, so chit chat Cat, Hi,
- 1:02:52Hi, yes, Hi? What do you What are your thoughts,
- 1:02:57what do you have, what's on your mind? So just on the curbuters
- 1:03:00point. One of the things that I've noticed with him is that obviously he's
- 1:03:05trying to treat this as it's not something political when it actually is, because
- 1:03:09a lot of people are outside are like, no, it's not politics,
- 1:03:13it's just crazy people we're dealing with when it's the furthest thing away from that,
- 1:03:17because like we saw with GDC, they literally have marks as an inspiration
- 1:03:22for the approach designing games, and so what's inherently political. So at this
- 1:03:28point it's like when we have people saying, oh, no, it's not
- 1:03:30politics, we kind of underminded ourselves because when gaming gaate started the first time
- 1:03:35around, most people were unaware of the fact that it was political, that
- 1:03:38it wasn't just a case of gaming journalists turning against US. It was the
- 1:03:43fact that there were people in the industry that wanted to push basically communism because
- 1:03:50it was something happening in the US for like over a seven decade period of
- 1:03:54slowly encroaching on every single institution in sphere of society, going we need to
- 1:04:00promote our ideology, but we need to go about this in a very insidious
- 1:04:03manner. And when it came to video games, they didn't take that approach.
- 1:04:09They were very praisen because video games went from being something that was,
- 1:04:14oh, it's for children, it's not that important to overshadow in Hollywood,
- 1:04:17and when they saw that happen, like we need to get in as fast
- 1:04:20as possible. And that's the reason why gaming game happened was because they were
- 1:04:26so quick and just full for castro about it, where it's like we need
- 1:04:30to just go all out in order to capture gaming. And that's the reason
- 1:04:33why games were like, yeah, no, we actually see there's something happening,
- 1:04:39but we didn't know at the time that it was political, and now
- 1:04:41we do know it's political. For some weird reason, we have people on
- 1:04:45our side saying no, it's not politics, but then there's flags everywhere there's
- 1:04:51paraphernalia everywhere that's saying to us it's political, and it just gets frustrating at
- 1:04:57a point where we know what the problem is, we know what the approach
- 1:05:00is that's needed to beat it, but we don't have that internal support that
- 1:05:04the lift es with a close rank and they're like, oh, right,
- 1:05:06we go into all duobar to get where we need to be. M Yeah,
- 1:05:13can I respond to that? You are one hundred and ten percent right.
- 1:05:16And I've been saying this since twenty fourteen, since gamer Gate one.
- 1:05:20This has always been political. But I have sympathy for the people who don't,
- 1:05:26who genuinely don't believe it is because we are all operating under a paradigm
- 1:05:32whether and I think most people are unaware of that that it is like it
- 1:05:39kind of you know, it's a product of our education and our media and
- 1:05:43everything else. And the reason why you're right, these communists are stepping up
- 1:05:47and they've moved on video games so fast and so hard is because they did
- 1:05:51not They did not have the reverence or respect for it when it was still
- 1:05:57small that they but they did. They We're doing this stuff in Hollywood and
- 1:06:00in television and in music, and in everything else. Right, So all
- 1:06:05of that stuff had been going on for decades and decades and decades, and
- 1:06:10there's plenty of people who have done a lot of really good work on this.
- 1:06:13I am actually working on a project that talks about how this all comes
- 1:06:17down from the art movements going all the way back to the French Revolution and
- 1:06:23how like it kind of like came this way. It's not necessarily like a
- 1:06:27direct line, but you can see like a waves and trends of this stuff
- 1:06:31like becoming more and more, you know, like moving more and more to
- 1:06:35where it is today. And there are people like you know, Mary Wilson
- 1:06:40Craft are a part of this, and her daughter Mary Shelley, and Lord
- 1:06:44Byron, and it goes and all of the art movements, the data ists,
- 1:06:47the cubist, the futurists, the absurdists, et cetera, all the
- 1:06:51way to where we are today. And the only thing about video games that
- 1:06:56made it unique was that everything else, from music to film to television,
- 1:07:02all of those and the visual arts and paintings and graphic novels and literature,
- 1:07:09those were all considered art, but video games was not. It was it
- 1:07:12was because these people are also elite as snobs. So they thought, well,
- 1:07:15that's beneath our notice because it's for children, like you said. But
- 1:07:18when video games became up, it was so fast, the technology advanced so
- 1:07:25quickly that they weren't prepared to like do that same kind of slow you know,
- 1:07:30Graham Sheian style infiltration that worked so well in all of these other sort
- 1:07:35of like you know, all these other artistic endeavors are artistic mediums and and
- 1:07:42there, and and the normalies like the people that are that are even on
- 1:07:45the side of Cabrutus Rambo and there, and even the people from gamer Gate
- 1:07:48before, you know, when they hear about it, they're like, they
- 1:07:51roll their eyes, they they say, they whine, They're like, oh
- 1:07:55my god, I want to do this. Look, I just want I
- 1:07:58don't want politics in my games, you know, otn't. I want to
- 1:08:00avoid this at all costs. But the fact is you can't. Like you
- 1:08:05may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you. And
- 1:08:09all you have to do is you figure out what are my principles, what
- 1:08:12do I stand by? And you stand by it, and that's it.
- 1:08:15You don't have to call yourself right wing. You don't have to call your
- 1:08:16self conservative. You don't have to call yourself libertarian. You don't have to
- 1:08:19call yourself an anarcho capitalist, you don't have to call yourself any of that
- 1:08:23shit. You just say these are my I believe in reality. I believe
- 1:08:27in truth and beauty because that's what art is. It is the beauty in
- 1:08:30truth, and that's what I want to see. So the reason why their
- 1:08:35stories don't work and their art doesn't work is it's not a reflection of reality.
- 1:08:40It's a reflection of themselves because they're all narcissists. You every notice that
- 1:08:44everything that they put out there that they're like, we need more diversity,
- 1:08:46and then when you see their diverse character, it's just a self insert because
- 1:08:49that, to them is what is acceptable. They have no imagination, they
- 1:08:54have no skill, They hate meritocracy, they hate competition. And by the
- 1:08:58way, all this stuff is masculine. All this top that they're shooting on
- 1:09:00is shipped that men liked, because when when video games were new and for
- 1:09:03children, any man who played them was like was shunned. He was treated
- 1:09:09like an outcast and a weirdo. Now that it's all mainstream and girls are
- 1:09:13into it, all of a sudden everybody loves it. Of course, now
- 1:09:15it's getting ruined. But that so does that make sense, sir chat,
- 1:09:24it doesn't make sense. I'm not sure if Allison wants to speak before I
- 1:09:28compete, because I though she wasn't. Yeah, oh here go ahead,
- 1:09:31Yeah sure, I mean I could. I could do a counterpoint a couple
- 1:09:39Uh. Well, I don't know, counterpoint or just tangential points. Well,
- 1:09:43I guess that's up to the audience to decide. First, of all,
- 1:09:46these communists, which you call communists, you can turn them into right
- 1:09:53wing bootstrap rhetorics spouting conservatives by simply mentioning a men's issue and the instant that
- 1:10:02you mentioned the men's men's issues. To these communists or what you're calling communists,
- 1:10:08they start talking about what the individual, the service the individual owes society
- 1:10:14to keep society running, and how individual problems like the the individual factory worker
- 1:10:20is just to blame or shares in the blame as the boss who's exploiting his
- 1:10:26labor. Suddenly all of their principles disappear. It's amazing. I don't know
- 1:10:30if you guys have noticed that they don't have principles, Alison, they have
- 1:10:33goals one hundred percent. They they've never said they have principles. They only
- 1:10:40have things that they want to get. You're right, You're right. They
- 1:10:43even have the principles Communist principles. They just have shit they want to get.
- 1:10:47But my point is that all you have to do to suddenly get them
- 1:10:53to espouse the whole idea of the necessity of individual merit and the individual serving
- 1:10:59society, not the society serving the individual is just mentioned a men's issue,
- 1:11:03or just counter this idea that somehow, for example, the men who faced
- 1:11:11execution went to war under threat of execution, are somehow not not responsible for
- 1:11:20creating the war that they would have been executed to not if they wanted to
- 1:11:25not fight in you know, and and just you know, they they immediately
- 1:11:29fall back on this idea of ultimate culpability of the individual, but only when
- 1:11:33it comes to men any other group. No, that that that that that
- 1:11:39then society owes them. I'm just Alison dropped. I think, Alison,
- 1:11:47you you try to try to come back. Is anyone else there or let
- 1:11:55me just check something. Maybe I'm dropped. Maybe I'm the one that dropped.
- 1:12:00Okay, Okay, I see weird did Alison drap then it seems like
- 1:12:06it Okay, well that's all right. Well, I mean that's all true,
- 1:12:14I suppose, but the conservative is not the one destroying the game and
- 1:12:16culture. I'm sorry, it's just it's just not the same. It's like,
- 1:12:20when that happens, call me up. I'll be right there in the
- 1:12:24front lines. But right now I'm dealing with commies. Okay. So I
- 1:12:28think Allison is touching on it's basically this puritanical culture that exists within the anglosphere
- 1:12:36because if we go back to like the Push era and everyone else was like,
- 1:12:40oh rock and roll music, dungeon dragons, video games, the cure
- 1:12:45societal problems, and I think that's where she's coming from because a lot of
- 1:12:48people going back and it's like, yeah, I know what what's happening right
- 1:12:51now? When you made a good video games and anime happened like decades prior,
- 1:12:56it was just yes, of course, Jack Tom and all that.
- 1:13:00But I think the main difference is though, when that was happening, when
- 1:13:05Tipper Gore was like trying to get like you know, I don't know,
- 1:13:09like restrictions on like rap music that had bad language in it, or when
- 1:13:14Jack Thompson was warning against like Mortal Kombat making kids violent, or or when
- 1:13:18like any of these other sort of like you know what we would consider to
- 1:13:21be conservative pundits said something, we pushed back, and we pushed back together.
- 1:13:28When the woke lady Friend people come along, all of a sudden,
- 1:13:31people are buckling and they're like, oh, I don't know, I don't
- 1:13:33want to be called sexist. So like it's like it's it could be the
- 1:13:38same instincts, but the response is completely different. Am I off base there?
- 1:13:45No, You're completely correct. And the reason why the response is so
- 1:13:48different, it's because of the culture that lived is fasted like four decades.
- 1:13:54Because I think it's yeah, I admit this, like before twenty eighteen was
- 1:14:00I wasn't like hard lift, but I was like a leftist, so I
- 1:14:03was like pro feminism. I was the kind of gay way if you've mentioned
- 1:14:08something about a gay person and I'd be like, what are you saying?
- 1:14:10Is it something? Is it something good? I hope it's good. And
- 1:14:13it was simply due to the fact that a lot of the entertainment, even
- 1:14:15my k're in South Africa like would position it as oh, no, gay
- 1:14:19people are always under attach you need to be fearful of conservatives. It's interesting,
- 1:14:25yeah, yeah, a propaganda sure. Yeah. And so you go
- 1:14:28to this process not actually knowing what's going on, because if you don't do
- 1:14:31the research yourself and you don't have those conversations yourself, you'll never know what's
- 1:14:34on the other side. Actually, and so a lot of people because for
- 1:14:39example, I can point to just some guy if you're familiar with him as
- 1:14:42a YouTuber or no dat news stand, like just a lot of people,
- 1:14:45Yeah, I know them. Yeah. And what you notice is that when
- 1:14:49gamer Gate was happening, when the culture was like very fresh for us,
- 1:14:54they were on outside. But then eventually they noticed that, oh no,
- 1:14:58conservatives are making gaining new ground and they are like, oh fuck, we
- 1:15:03can't be on this side anymore. Yeah, because yes, exactly, I
- 1:15:08have to push back too, because I don't want like whatever the boogeyman hovers
- 1:15:13over there. But if you've noticed, I mean, like even what in
- 1:15:16the last couple of days, Matt Walsh said something and immediately was shot down,
- 1:15:21and just justifiably so because he doesn't know what he's talking about. So
- 1:15:27it's I mean, that's that's what we need. We need the same response
- 1:15:31no matter where it's coming from from anyone who's trying to tell us essentially what
- 1:15:36we should be doing with our time and our money. Most importantly, Yeah,
- 1:15:42no, that's the reason why if effectively went on this like one man
- 1:15:46purity check with people the bond. I see someone say anything like guys,
- 1:15:50please don't arrest the journalist. I'm like, where we arrest anyone? We
- 1:15:55don't do that, Like that's not our mo and so in people yeah,
- 1:16:00say things like, oh, don't arrass, We're not six, We're not
- 1:16:01this. It's like you're validating the claim that's been made against us because the
- 1:16:06moment you acknowledge what they're saying, they're like, hmm, they've admitted that
- 1:16:12is a problem. We now need to show. We need to show people
- 1:16:14is a problem because we know that Anit effect traits against her. Like I
- 1:16:19know when I was a gaming journalist back in like what twenty nineteen, I
- 1:16:25made like an intend a deep dive on game. Again, it wasn't as
- 1:16:29deep as like other people I've done. And I mentioned the fact that the
- 1:16:32only way Anita could have gotten screenshots of those messages, or rather tweets,
- 1:16:38was if she actually searched for a name, the times that she took way
- 1:16:42too quick for someone to just have come across it, and all of the
- 1:16:45talk of like the vampirism and I love talking a vampire slayer. So it's
- 1:16:50like there's this, please all say it's like it is her. But because
- 1:16:55at the time we were still living in the culture of women can't do anything
- 1:16:59wrong, they can't say anything bad or lie, people believed it. And
- 1:17:02even when we gave all that evidence that no, they lied, Zowa's lying,
- 1:17:08Rihanna Wuh's line, no one wanted to believe us, especially because a
- 1:17:11lot of people in Game and Gate at the time were leftists. Yeah really
- 1:17:15except the fact that by a worldview was a lie. Yeah, or at
- 1:17:19the very least they were like liberal enough that they were just going to believe,
- 1:17:24Like the believe women was the default position like these they like, there
- 1:17:28are default positions. People approached this from because of this sort of like cultural
- 1:17:32conditioning, but also a little bit because of our biology. Like when a
- 1:17:36woman says she's in trouble, everyone assumes that it must be true before they
- 1:17:42investigate, And when a man says he's in trouble, we're more likely to
- 1:17:45be a little bit turned off by that. Yeah, and that was the
- 1:17:49biggest thing in that's the reason why most of the people like that became the
- 1:17:55figure hits of like the anti gamer gate movement and even the ones who were
- 1:17:58pushing everything well women, because if we leveraged any kind of criticism against them,
- 1:18:02and who'd be like, oh, you're sexist, you must say to
- 1:18:04women. And that's why it was so difficult because at the time culture was
- 1:18:09very much women can do no wrong, and so when we attempted to criticize
- 1:18:14them, it went no way. Because even like when we did Christina half
- 1:18:17Summers on outside, she got called a picney. And it's like, even
- 1:18:21when you have women defending you, it's like, we didn't gain any ground
- 1:18:26when it came to the Oh my god, I the whole thing about optics
- 1:18:30so so much like, oh, guys, we need to present formal,
- 1:18:34rational arguments. We need to give the best picture of ourselves because that will
- 1:18:39convince normals. I'm like, we done that, Sagat done that, Stina
- 1:18:44done that. Like so many people focused on optics and it got us no
- 1:18:48way. And that's why for me, when I see people going back to
- 1:18:51as Andy're like, oh, no, the optics was work problem. I'm
- 1:18:56like, the optics really doesn't matter. It's the message because the thing is,
- 1:19:00as it said, people are still talking about as told today, and
- 1:19:06as was one hundred percent correct for his rent because yeah, if you ever
- 1:19:11look, I mean, actually, you know what, I'm glad you brought
- 1:19:13this up because it lets me bring up something else. I do see some
- 1:19:16people waiting to talk. I'll give you guys a moment, but first there's
- 1:19:20something I've been really wanting to mention. But this is related because this is
- 1:19:25about their tactics. So this week is the Game Developers Conference GDC twenty twenty
- 1:19:30four, and GDC is like where all the game devs and all these other
- 1:19:35people they network with each other. They work in the industry, their journalists,
- 1:19:40their developers, their producers, their investors, whatever, right, and
- 1:19:45they go to shield themselves or like meet other people. So anyway, neither
- 1:19:49Sarkisian had or feminist frequency had a talk at the GDC conference this year,
- 1:19:58and this is I'm just gonna rea what this is about, because this relates
- 1:20:00to exactly what you're talking about, chit chatcat regarding optics. So the title
- 1:20:08of This is called so You've been canceled? Now what? And it's hosted
- 1:20:13by Jay Lynn, program manager for Feminist Frequency and Carl Murray Olsen, facilitator
- 1:20:19for RESPEC and because they have the room and everything. But I'm gonna skip
- 1:20:23that. So here's so what it's about is if the mob, if the
- 1:20:27cancel culture mob comes after you in the context of obviously the game development industry,
- 1:20:33and you are called out for bad behavior, whatever it might be,
- 1:20:39how do you respond, how do you heal? How do you recover?
- 1:20:42And this is essentially a struggle session as a talk. Okay, you guys
- 1:20:47familiar what a struggle session is. It's a maoist thing. Yeah, So
- 1:20:54so it's essentially psychological torture to get you to bend your will to these people
- 1:20:58so that you can, like you know, essentially feel a sense of relief
- 1:21:02from the immense amount of guilt they try to throw at you. But anyway,
- 1:21:05it says, then someone who has hurt others, even repeatedly, actually
- 1:21:10change what comes after the call out? What can someone do if they've been
- 1:21:14called problematic but aren't actually sure why not necessarily like whether or not they are,
- 1:21:19just whether or not they understand why they are or after losing friends,
- 1:21:26jobs, and networks, how does a person move forward if they want to
- 1:21:29become someone who won't cause that type of harm, even unintentionally. Again,
- 1:21:33so your intentions don't matter right. For the last two years, RESPEC has
- 1:21:38been talking to people in the games industry who have been called out, confronted,
- 1:21:43canceled, or fired for wrongdoing, harming others, or crossing boundaries or
- 1:21:47consent. By balancing compassion and accountability, RESPECT believes that restoring humanity to the
- 1:21:54experience of causing harm better foster's long term change. So that's the subject of
- 1:21:59the talk they gave or they're going to give. I'm not sure when it
- 1:22:01happened. You see what the it probably has the date. Yeah, it
- 1:22:04was actually today in the morning. What's the takeaway from this? If you
- 1:22:10go to it? This talk will share an actionable roadmap to change, quotes
- 1:22:14from participants, common roots of accountability that have emerged, and respects approach to
- 1:22:18facilitating accountable discussions. But considerations outlined can also offer those running or building communities
- 1:22:27a nuanced framework for addressing harm in ways that better foster change. Pay attention
- 1:22:31to all the woke kami language in this by the way, intended audience,
- 1:22:36this is for anyone who has hurt others and wants to prevent it from happening
- 1:22:40again. Anyone worried about unintentionally harming others, anyone who has faced a call
- 1:22:45out and wants to make things right, or anyone who is interested in supporting
- 1:22:48people they care about who have done harmful things. Now this is so that's
- 1:22:54the layout of the thing. But you see what's happening with this. This
- 1:22:58is about power and control and they will use victimhood to get it and it's
- 1:23:02very effective. But anyway, where are you going to say chip chatcat about
- 1:23:06that? This is at GDC with the old GDC thing with that specific talk.
- 1:23:13You know what, It's great for the people that are going to go
- 1:23:15into again because they demonstrable people, but unfortunately they don't have a conscience,
- 1:23:18so they won't benefit in any way. Be Like, I hope so Equin's
- 1:23:24attended, you know, because maybe she can learn that fish will hopefully in
- 1:23:30a ditch. Is there someone else that's waiting to talk? Oh, in
- 1:23:36QCL, do you want to add anything? Or should I give the microphone
- 1:23:41to Uh, there's a couple of people. I thought, Allison is waiting.
- 1:23:45I got to approve her, but I'll send her back in. Well,
- 1:23:49I also things to say, but it's your co Oh, Allison's not
- 1:23:55no longer requesting, So go ahead. What do you want to say?
- 1:23:58All right? Uh So the first thing, the thing that you that you
- 1:24:02mentioned there is this idea, there is this sort of idea about the conservatives,
- 1:24:08about the abstract sort of miasma of conservatism and conservatives influencing culture in this
- 1:24:15nefarious ways from somewhere in the eighties nineties, something about dungeons and dragons,
- 1:24:20something about satanic panic. And I think it's mostly overstated to the extent that
- 1:24:28they did. They were right in certain instances like that there was actually some
- 1:24:33weird satanical cults going on, like if something like Searcher no Finders cult,
- 1:24:40right that the CIA ran it wasn't weird CIA ran thing. So there was
- 1:24:44stuff like that. But outside of that, conservatives didn't really have this massive
- 1:24:48They didn't have a fraction of the impact the leftis have today or ever had.
- 1:24:55Consider something like the movie. It was something that I they are recalled
- 1:25:01recently a time to Kill, which is it is Joel Schumacher movie. It
- 1:25:05was something I think in the in the nineties. Is that the one with
- 1:25:10Samuel Jackson. Yeah, they deserve to die and I hope they burned in
- 1:25:13hell. Yes, Samuel and Jackson, Conagie spe Kevin Spacey, Sandra Bullock,
- 1:25:18Donald and sand like like insane like cas right, and and it's a
- 1:25:26movie based on a book whereas Samuel L. Jackson's h daughter gets you know,
- 1:25:31grape yeah by the rednecks by some like a like insanely carricatches stereotype rednecks
- 1:25:41and he shoots them. And the movie is about the pro Matthew McConaughey getting
- 1:25:46Oh, oh, I think I know. Is this the one that's supposedly
- 1:25:49based on a real story, but the true story is like completely novel.
- 1:25:54Yeah, and the John Grisham novel who based it on real event where the
- 1:26:00races are reversed of course, Andy fucking insane Like there's a bit where the
- 1:26:04when an na a CP like representative comes in and says this, this outcome
- 1:26:11like this, this chriald has to go our way because it might it might
- 1:26:15reveal racism in society. But basically, if you don't allow SAMUELA and Jackson
- 1:26:19to just vigilant issue to people. Then then then that's a lot of racism,
- 1:26:24right, and that's in the nineties, Like that's insane, right,
- 1:26:28So where the conservatives, what conservatives have do that even compares to stuff like
- 1:26:33this, right, And this also goes to another fact that nineties weren't this
- 1:26:38magical cold Brian fucking James Lindsay land of utopia where the racial differences have dissolved
- 1:26:45as if a stayed in communism. Right, there were racial riots that there's
- 1:26:51like if you punch someone, if you punched the black kid as a white
- 1:26:55dude in California in high school, you were in trouble. Like even if
- 1:26:59you defended yourself against a black head, you know, you were in trouble.
- 1:27:02There was this visual It might have been dialed down, but it's it's
- 1:27:09very much twenty sixteen racial politics. So going off about like this this weird
- 1:27:16nefarious Oh and tipic God tiper Got is a fucking Democrat. Jack Johnson is
- 1:27:20a Democrat, like all these people are Democrats in the when all this said
- 1:27:25and done, right, So it is it is conceding the frame. It
- 1:27:29is conceding the frame that what we're living through is just a pendulum swinging back
- 1:27:33right. Conservatives were mean to us somehow we were not really how but but
- 1:27:38but but this is like justify justifiable bylash. You know, it's gay raised
- 1:27:42communism until eternally because something in the nineties conservatives did about dungeons and dragon This
- 1:27:47this is this is entirely conceding the frame. And speaking of conceding the frame,
- 1:27:54this is the problem that I have with the current isration. I was
- 1:27:58going to soft walk into it, but yeah, I agree with the stuff
- 1:28:02about you know, keeping it a political and it's just about this very specific,
- 1:28:09isolated issue in a vacuum that cannot really be isolated and cannot be really
- 1:28:14put in a vacuum. Right it is. It is political, and it
- 1:28:18is not written you kind of really excited out of politics because politics is what
- 1:28:23drives the people that are doing it. It's just just as a quick tension.
- 1:28:27I want to say, the conditions for victory, like, what what
- 1:28:32does victory look like. If victory looks like you know, total journal you
- 1:28:39know, Kia, that's not happening, right, the Devil's never going to
- 1:28:42happen, right, So if that's something that people expected from the first gamer
- 1:28:46Gate, like the gamer Gate loss because we didn't build you know, gallows
- 1:28:50for journalists. Yeah that that was no, never gonna happen, metric Gamergate
- 1:28:56fail. Okay whatever, Yeah, yeah, no, I know, I
- 1:28:59agree, said go ahead if the idea is that like just just messaging,
- 1:29:04the messaging is really is the only thing that you can do, like even
- 1:29:08if you go even if you go step upwards and and and can consider the
- 1:29:13whole political spectrum, like the actual politics of of of how the government's what
- 1:29:17the government policy is like for if you're a right wing, if you're actual
- 1:29:23thing, not like like weird Matt Walsh is of Israel right wing, but
- 1:29:26actual right wing, like it, it's hopeless for you, Like the best
- 1:29:31or your best hope is Trump and hoping he doesn't invite Jaray Kushner back to
- 1:29:35the party. So messaging is the best you can do, right, like
- 1:29:40the bedding down the hatches, build locally, do what you can in your
- 1:29:45immediate so sort of surroundings and then sort of, uh, try to radicalize
- 1:29:51normies. I guess within that if that is the time, is that is
- 1:29:58the best you can do. I I've definitely seen this sort of like here
- 1:30:02there's what there's one like, uh, a screenshot I have from the Discord
- 1:30:06server that that's that's running the what are you and r A I mean Discord,
- 1:30:14I mean the sweet Baby detected. It's like three hundred thousand people,
- 1:30:16which is a lot. Yeah, that's that's a sizable, sizable operation,
- 1:30:20well, not operation, but social media node. I guess there's one comment
- 1:30:27from some guy d ie sounds great on paper, but in practice it is
- 1:30:30awful. So you're basically conceding the frame entirely to your enemies. You're basically
- 1:30:36saying your enemies are right. Uh yes, And therefore your opposition to it
- 1:30:42is like like what are you? What's your problem? And what one problem
- 1:30:45is? Uh? You know, you know, some some specific application of
- 1:30:49the thing that they're doing, Like they're doing the thing wrong, right,
- 1:30:54So it's it's it's mostly it frames itself or fall falls into itself, or
- 1:30:58or you present yourself as an interesting conflict. It's like leftist fighting with leftist
- 1:31:01but yep, mm hmm. And which is a which unfortunately seems to me
- 1:31:12at times that it is what it that that is what it is like someone
- 1:31:16like me, which is, let's just say, very far right. Uh,
- 1:31:21My alignment with people that on that discord is that very specific, isolated
- 1:31:28issue of I don't want these people influencing games, right, I don't want
- 1:31:31this particular company. Although I will say, uh, and I said this
- 1:31:34like like five months ago, when the Sweet Baby was first sort of discovered
- 1:31:40and talked about, I basically said, it's not like this that the like
- 1:31:44Triple A. It's not like you know, e A is full of gigabased
- 1:31:47people and they were just by danger hair like weirdos in this one company,
- 1:31:54right, mm hmm. So so so that was that was back then and
- 1:31:59now it's sort of as the confluence of factors is exploded whatever. But uh,
- 1:32:05the way that the way you got there, it's a long road,
- 1:32:09you know, It's it's like sort of road of institutional pressure that you I
- 1:32:16suppose this is just a discussion of tactics, and you know, you don't
- 1:32:20really have the institutional drive. You do not really have the institutions that that
- 1:32:25functionally then change the outcomes that you want to see. And this is another
- 1:32:31point with which also rolls back into the conceding the frame and and what you're
- 1:32:36actually trying to do here. Free marketplace of ideas doesn't exist. That's a
- 1:32:41mean. Change is only really executed by institutions and getting to those institutions.
- 1:32:46That doesn't happen because you convince someone. That happens because you backstep cheated light
- 1:32:51and stole you of a into positions of power, and then you exercise that
- 1:32:55power. Right, debating people, It's it's almost like a at best,
- 1:33:04is uh pressure well pressure release valve, right'. It's it's it's sort of
- 1:33:11like fighting over your favorite sports team. It's it's a little it's a little
- 1:33:17better than that. I'm not sure the actual when you look at what actually
- 1:33:21radicalized normies in in the or to the extent that can be said they have
- 1:33:27been radicalized, it was the lockdown, right you could you could have spent
- 1:33:30like tens of thousands of hours online debating fucking bedroom feminists. I don't want
- 1:33:35to disparage the MRI issue, like I obviously there was some good work now
- 1:33:42like there was like the awareness was spread, right. Your hope ultimately is
- 1:33:46that by spreading awareness you get these these sort of these individuals, these people
- 1:33:53that are find themselves in a position capable of exercising influence. Right, you
- 1:33:58don't care about the individual normy you care about talking getting alone masks to to
- 1:34:02notice this somehow, right, yea, And for that extent you need you
- 1:34:08need to do this, like you need to do this like ten insane ten
- 1:34:11thousand hours, ten thousand hours worth of the online debates. But you cannot
- 1:34:16be mistaken about what you're trying to achieve, right, Like, there's not
- 1:34:19no critical massive normies that you can radicalize that it's going to affect change.
- 1:34:24It's Elon Mask doing things. It's it's you know, be the THEO doing
- 1:34:28things. And going back to the whole discord this discord business. My trouble
- 1:34:36with this is that a lot of the people are confused as to what needs
- 1:34:41to happen, and maybe even though they don't necessarily want what needs to happen
- 1:34:45to happen right wherein they very easily will become rather than assets. Like for
- 1:34:53example, I think of something like you know, that's that some black guy
- 1:34:57or Chris Reger right, like they are very well be aligned with Yeah,
- 1:35:03no, no, I agree with you. I think that ultimately it comes
- 1:35:06down to and I've just gotta because I gotta move on and wrap the show
- 1:35:11up. But I agree with everything you're saying, I think that it comes
- 1:35:15down to just like keeping people inform, keeping people vigilant. I don't want
- 1:35:18any black pills, you know, out of here. I'm not saying that
- 1:35:21everything's gonna be great, but like giving up is the worst thing you do,
- 1:35:25so you have to remain vigilant, remain informed, share information, don't
- 1:35:29worry about trying to change everything overnight. And it's like you said, you
- 1:35:32know, most of what we're dealing with is shit that we've had. We're
- 1:35:34dealing with that started before we were born, So like how can we expect
- 1:35:39it to be over by the time we die? So it's almost like you
- 1:35:42have to, you know, you just start the process and then you just
- 1:35:45do you take care of yourself and do what you can. You know.
- 1:35:48So, as I'm saying that, the thing about you know, this whole
- 1:35:51Gabory thing is it you know, it's sort of small in that it's just
- 1:35:56like a leisure activity that people like to do. And you know, some
- 1:36:00might say that you're taking this too seriously, but it is not like it
- 1:36:03is part of something much bigger that's happening. And this is like where people
- 1:36:08are starting to take notice, you know, So like they're gonna so they're
- 1:36:12gonna see the ways that what's happened here is a byproduct of stuff that's happening
- 1:36:17everywhere else. And I think that we are there's there's way more people like
- 1:36:21activated now than we're like in twenty fourteen, way more. I mean,
- 1:36:27Elon Musk is sympathetic. He runs Twitter now. That changes the whole conversation
- 1:36:30at least, right, So, like, I think there's just a lot
- 1:36:34of I think that we're in a better, much better place than we were,
- 1:36:38and it, you know, it warms my heart, and I hope
- 1:36:41that we you know, people will realize that you can't you know, eventually
- 1:36:45you're gonna have to confront the sort of like you know, broader scale politicals
- 1:36:50politics of this because they are impacting culture, and culture will affect the politics,
- 1:36:57or at least people's like values and the values will affect the politics,
- 1:37:00if that makes sense. And that's why they want to corrupt all of our
- 1:37:03cultural institutions. That's why you know they made that uh what was that movie
- 1:37:08called again? Uh the Girls or the movie the Samuel Jackson movie that was
- 1:37:15based on the book, Yeah, Time to Kill Like that's why, like
- 1:37:18when that came out. Everybody just thought that was just a movie and they
- 1:37:21didn't like know anything else about it. But that that bit of information that
- 1:37:27you shared. I heard that like on the internet. I think that that's
- 1:37:30going around right. So so I'm i'm i'm I'm optimistic about the future,
- 1:37:36but I'm not expecting to see a lot in my lifetime. That's all I
- 1:37:42will say. So. But uh, with that said, thank you in
- 1:37:45q SEL for that. I'm gonna head or chit Chat Cat and I'm gonna
- 1:37:53I'm gonna close out the show here, you guys, and I have one
- 1:37:56request. Let me see who somebody wants to come in and say something the
- 1:37:59Infamous missed the Bloody I'm gonna approve it, man, I'll give you some
- 1:38:03final thoughts and then I'm gonna end the show there. And uh, yeah,
- 1:38:09Allison's gonna she's she's like not able to get in, so I don't
- 1:38:14know something's going on on her end, but uh, and somebody's making noise
- 1:38:19in the background. I'm gonna have to mute chitchat Cat there, So if
- 1:38:26that's okay, or if you could mute that would be good. Okay,
- 1:38:33all right, if Infamous bloody mista. You want to say something, Oh,
- 1:38:44yeah, I mean I mean that you guys are pretty much covering most
- 1:38:46of the things I was thinking about, to be honest with you, the
- 1:38:49only thing I really kind of really thought about just just throwing this in as
- 1:38:54a side thought, Like the idea of like radically getting the normies involved in
- 1:38:59it is kind of the weirdest part. Maybe it's just me, maybe it's
- 1:39:03just kind of a big thing here, but with the whole Gamergate thing,
- 1:39:08if you haven't noticed, like people aren't getting on board with everything that goes
- 1:39:12on with the whole woke thing because it's like, Okay, it doesn't affect
- 1:39:15me, so they don't really care. Yeah I know, which sucks and
- 1:39:19I don't know why, but you know, once it enters their sphere and
- 1:39:23then they're looking around for help. But you know, you know, the
- 1:39:28I didn't come out because I was a normy thing. Right. The whole
- 1:39:30point is like, if you can get all the gamers that are relatively endless
- 1:39:34sphere of like a political conversation to actually like sit down and have a conversation
- 1:39:41about what the hell is going on, not the people who are hearing it
- 1:39:45from like kataku because the average entire the average kataku enjoyer is not going to
- 1:39:48be your base conversation audience. I'm just gonna be honest with you one hundred.
- 1:39:54Yeah. So, like focusing rightly on the on the gaming perspective right
- 1:40:00now is kind of the best thing. Once we get this shit cleared up,
- 1:40:02maybe we can move forward with other stuff. Yeah, Like, first
- 1:40:08we got to clean up our yard before we go over here and try to
- 1:40:10help like comics in all these other places. Because I've already seen how the
- 1:40:13cross pollination of these ideas really didn't work out because the implementation was bad.
- 1:40:19We left a lot of things hanging back in twenty sixteen. And I'll be
- 1:40:24honest, Like it didn't fix everything, and it wasn't going to fix everything
- 1:40:28because you were going to have a brand new brand of journalists that showed up
- 1:40:30again, listener, CONTI wasn't working at any of these places before Gamergate.
- 1:40:36Like, these people are relatively new. Like I don't know if you've noticed
- 1:40:40it, but like this is a new bumper crop of people that you've never
- 1:40:43seen or heard of. Yeah, again, these people are new guard to
- 1:40:47an old argument. Yeah, there are some old faces and new spaces that
- 1:40:53we've seen like again Lego Butts. Yeah, those are similar people. And
- 1:40:58again all the connections lead back to the same people we've talked about in twenty
- 1:41:01sixteen. Mm hmm. However, like we got to start here first,
- 1:41:08because if we go out there and try to like do the fracturing thing like
- 1:41:11we did back in twenty sixteen where everybody wanted to fight two different fronts and
- 1:41:15it just didn't work, it's not it's going to fall apart. And I
- 1:41:18mean, really that's a that I don't make it a shit show this time
- 1:41:24again, if you're expecting Matt Walsh to really help you, we tried h
- 1:41:29try that with Milo Iianopolis. Let's be fair here. That didn't work out.
- 1:41:32I was there, like, why are we bringing Milo? It'll be
- 1:41:35a good voice. Oh it wasn't. Yeah, so well he seemed someone
- 1:41:42that was more like about using it for himself, right, So I don't
- 1:41:45think it was good and that that's the thing. I think people are more
- 1:41:47a wary of that these days, and that's why, like I said,
- 1:41:50Matt Walsh got they got slapped down like pretty much immediately afterwards. But again
- 1:41:56I'm with you on that. I think we just focus on this, and
- 1:41:59I think the one thing that helps is that we just have fun with it
- 1:42:02and just mean the shit out of the things that we like and mean the
- 1:42:05shit out of the things that we want to criticize. And that's working,
- 1:42:09right. So like, like I'm in Kyel's discord server. Yeah, I'm
- 1:42:15in there, and and I'm in the Sweet Baby Inc Detected one, and
- 1:42:19they're you know, they're having fun. And like even if I don't care
- 1:42:23what you're you know, because I don't need to like learn about, like
- 1:42:26how what your politics are. Frankly, when I started doing this work,
- 1:42:30I was completely different in my beliefs than I am today. So I know
- 1:42:33that it will, you know, take a little time. But fortunately I
- 1:42:38think we have a lot on our side, so I think it. I
- 1:42:40think that you're right, and I appreciate your feedback anytime. All right,
- 1:42:45I know you're trying to wrap up, so I'll just pop back up.
- 1:42:47All right, man, Well, thank you so much. And I think
- 1:42:50I got one more person. No, nobody's requesting, So I'm going to
- 1:42:55end the call because my phone is dying, and I'm just gonna say,
- 1:42:59Eli, figure your shit out, give us the spaces that works on desktop
- 1:43:03and works consistently and doesn't have a shit ton of lag and doesn't drop all
- 1:43:08of a sudden. Come on, man, you put like a robot on
- 1:43:12Mars and you couldn't just get this to work on it. It's worse than
- 1:43:15Sky heard. I'm on desktop right now doing this. Well, I mean
- 1:43:19yeah, but the thing is you are on desktop. I'm on desktop talking
- 1:43:23to you right now too. But to start this, to start the spaces,
- 1:43:27I have to use it in my phone. It's stupid. So my
- 1:43:29phone is over here dying just to run the space. But I'm actually using
- 1:43:33a different account to talk to you guys. So anyway, but thank you
- 1:43:38for coming on the show. Let me know what you guys think about this
- 1:43:41GDC stuff, and I will try to cover more of it this week on
- 1:43:45Honey Badger Arcade, which is the gaming channel. Thanks so much for Thank
- 1:43:49you for everybody who called in. It was actually like a lot more rewarding
- 1:43:54than I expected. I was worried that the technical difficulties are going to be
- 1:43:58a real boot in my but I did get some super chat so I'm gonna
- 1:44:01read those really quick and then I'm gonna end it. There, so ZARANX
- 1:44:04gave us two dollars and says, I'm maga pint Brian, so I guess
- 1:44:09he was in the He was in our chat for a bit and then he
- 1:44:11I think he left. Thank you for that. And then he says a
- 1:44:15lot of this is incomplete or not coming through at all on spaces for five
- 1:44:19dollars, I hope that was fixed. That's still a problem, let me
- 1:44:23know. And then Albert Nata Retro gives us five dollars. Canadian says,
- 1:44:26met a woman at the coffee shop. I told her about HBr my channel
- 1:44:30and where to see the Red Pill. Passy's doc is about the real RP.
- 1:44:34The rest is snake oil. Thank you for all of that, appreciate
- 1:44:39it. And I think I'm just gonna end the show there. So I'm
- 1:44:45gonna hang up on the spaces here and end that and then I'll wrap it
- 1:44:47up with everybody else. So thanks guys. How do I do that?
- 1:44:51Oh? No, end it and it'll be recorded, it'll be up there.
- 1:44:56So all right, that's the end of that. So thanks guys for
- 1:45:00coming on the show. Let me know what you guys think about this in
- 1:45:01the comments. I did get another super chaw or chat from Albernata Retro for
- 1:45:06two dollars Canadian. It's the nature of gamers to resist, Yes, it
- 1:45:11is. That is true. If you guys like this, and it will
- 1:45:15continue. It will continue until people like you know, finally take a stand
- 1:45:19and realize that our culture is is like really important. As an artist myself,
- 1:45:26I care deeply about it. So anyway, thank you so much for
- 1:45:30coming on the show. If you liked this video, please hit like subscribe.
- 1:45:32If you're not already subscribed, hit the bell notifications, leave me a
- 1:45:35comment, let me know what you think about the discussion we had, and
- 1:45:38please please please share this video because sharing is caring. I'll try to get
- 1:45:42this space this thing figured out before the next time I do this. This
- 1:45:45might be a series because back in the day when Gamergate was like you know,
- 1:45:47around the first time, we used to have a series called Badger Pod
- 1:45:51Gamergate. We would have like different people on and they were sort of like
- 1:45:56regulars and we talk about what was going on in the whole space, like
- 1:46:00with the newest articles or whatever. So we might bring that back. If
- 1:46:04I can get this work and maybe do it on spaces, I think that
- 1:46:06could work. If Elon Musk gets that shit straightened out. So anyway,
- 1:46:10thanks so much for coming on today's episode of Badger Pod gamer Gate two.
- 1:46:15Because it's gamer Gate two. We'll talk to you all in the next one.
