- 0:11Speaker 1: for years. The last time he was ever seen, he

- 0:19Speaker 1: only added confusion to his story. Since then, Lars has
- 0:25Speaker 1: gone on to become the Internet's most famous missing person,
- 0:30Speaker 1: as the security camera that caught his last known whereabouts
- 0:33Speaker 1: was in an airport and received several million views on
- 0:38Speaker 1: YouTube due to the strange events that it witnessed.

- 1:26Speaker 1: do better? I feel like there's pressure on now?
- 1:30Speaker 2: You always do better.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yours was more satisfying. Man was a little bit too quick.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It was a little premature.
- 1:37Speaker 2: That's so bad. I'm actually drinking a what is this?
- 1:41Speaker 2: It's a semi sweet apple cider. It's still less nice.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I'm drinking some steamworks from Vancouver. So do me a favor.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Turn your head and look outside. See those yellow leaves.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't want to talk about it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Oh, we do have to talk about it. Yeah, fall
- 1:58Speaker 1: is on its way, It really is. It is. I
- 2:02Speaker 1: don't know if you guys like where you're listening from
- 2:04Speaker 1: or whatever. If you can look outside and see yellow
- 2:06Speaker 1: leaves right now, it's starting here. It's not on our
- 2:09Speaker 1: trees yet, but the underbrush, Yeah, like the little willows
- 2:12Speaker 1: and bushes and stuff, they're starting to turn a little yellow.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Well, I went on a paddleboard excursion thing adventure today,
- 2:21Speaker 2: adventure like it was wild and yeah, it felt like
- 2:25Speaker 2: full it literally because it was kind of cold, like
- 2:28Speaker 2: it was maybe what like eighteen degrees today celsius and.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah, make sure you say celsius.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, And it felt like if we commented it out,
- 2:37Speaker 2: it felt like it was full.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah. While you were out paddle boarding doing an epicate adventure,
- 2:42Speaker 1: guess what I was doing working. I was doing a
- 2:44Speaker 1: little bit of research, not only to finish off this episode,
- 2:48Speaker 1: but I was looking looking at some other true crime
- 2:51Speaker 1: cases that I want to cover in the future.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And I went down this rabbit hole on the murderer
- 2:57Speaker 1: in history who has the highest to kill count ever?
- 3:02Speaker 2: Okay?
- 3:03Speaker 1: And I found them, And I'm not saying who I'm
- 3:07Speaker 1: not saying numbers. All I'm saying is I found them
- 3:11Speaker 1: and we are doing that case soon and the number
- 3:15Speaker 1: is absurd.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Shoot, I feel like we have we talked about this before.
- 3:20Speaker 1: We've talked about some with some high numbers, and most
- 3:23Speaker 1: of them are suspected high numbers. Okay, this one is
- 3:26Speaker 1: apparently recorded as such.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Okay, well we're gonna talk about this later.
- 3:31Speaker 1: No, No, you ain't getting nothing.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I need some more deep.
- 3:35Speaker 1: No, but I'll give you guys a brief hint at
- 3:39Speaker 1: the number. It's over five hundred. That's all I'm going
- 3:44Speaker 1: to say. I'm not going to say how much over
- 3:47Speaker 1: five hundred because I'm leaving it open here.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Come on, I need a little bit more. No, Nope,
- 3:54Speaker 2: when off.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Nope, Nope, Nope, nope, nope. You get nothing maybe our patrons,
- 3:59Speaker 1: but not you. Wow.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Wow, Wow, that's how it is.
- 4:03Speaker 1: That's how it is. Speaking of patrons, we got to
- 4:05Speaker 1: thank some patrons.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Thank we sure do.

- 4:25Speaker 1: to be happening tomorrow, so if you really want to
- 4:27Speaker 1: get on, you know, on it, pay attention to that.
- 4:30Speaker 1: There's been some suggestions put up so far, but it's
- 4:33Speaker 1: officially happening tomorrow.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Well. Yeah, the fact that we've had these new little
- 4:36Speaker 2: chickens for over a week and they are nameless.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Well, you've been gone for weeks on vacation, so I
- 4:42Speaker 1: had to like wait for you to get home. Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 1: But anyways, thank you so much for our patrons. Thank

- 4:50Speaker 1: We really appreciate that. With all of that out of
- 4:53Speaker 1: the way, do you want to get in to today's episode?
- 4:57Speaker 2: I do.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Okay, does the name Lars mid Tank mean anything to you?
- 5:04Speaker 2: Slightly? And I know we have chatted about this, but
- 5:08Speaker 2: I recall zero information at the moment, okay, And I'm
- 5:12Speaker 2: sure a little bit will come back to me.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, Well this is over over across the ponds,
- 5:21Speaker 1: so if I do apologize about mispronouncing names, it's probably
- 5:24Speaker 1: going to happen in this episode, but I will be
- 5:26Speaker 1: doing my best. So to start off with Lars's name,
- 5:30Speaker 1: it is Lars. I know that.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:32Speaker 1: His last name is mid Tank. I know that. However,
- 5:35Speaker 1: his middle name, I believe it's Lars. Joke him Midtank
- 5:40Speaker 1: I think joke him is how you say it. Joke him,
- 5:44Speaker 1: joke him. I'm not sure, but there's gonna be some
- 5:46Speaker 1: names things like that that I'm going to do my
- 5:48Speaker 1: best to get this pronunciation right.
- 5:50Speaker 2: You always do your best.
- 5:52Speaker 1: We always do our best here, we always do. Anyways,
- 5:55Speaker 1: his life began on the ninth of February in nineteen eighty,
- 6:00Speaker 1: so he was only two years our senior. So within
- 6:04Speaker 1: the vibrant city of Berlin, Germany is where he was born.
- 6:07Speaker 1: In Germany, Yep, you bet you so. His roots, however,
- 6:12Speaker 1: took hold in it so a town nestled in schlitzwig
- 6:17Speaker 1: Holstein in the slitzwig Holstein region, and this is where
- 6:21Speaker 1: he spent the entirety of his formative his formative years.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Growing up, he established connections, cultivated relationships, and formed a
- 6:27Speaker 1: foundation for his life story. Within this whole area, Lars
- 6:32Speaker 1: even found himself employed at a local power plant, making
- 6:35Speaker 1: some pretty decent money. He also began dating a beautiful
- 6:39Speaker 1: woman and they were looking at their future together as
- 6:42Speaker 1: their bond continued to grow and grow and grow stronger.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So he he was doing pretty good for himself in
- 6:48Speaker 1: his younger age, as he was beginning to actually get
- 6:50Speaker 1: into the world and you know, be an adult.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and actually it sounds like that very much.
- 6:56Speaker 1: So being an adult isn't easy, which I'm sure we
- 6:58Speaker 1: can all attest to. So, yeah, he's doing good. He's
- 7:02Speaker 1: doing good.
- 7:02Speaker 2: It definitely has its moments.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Hey, you petcha. So Lars was devoted more than to
- 7:10Speaker 1: just his girlfriend, though he was a son who frequently
- 7:13Speaker 1: visited his parents nice. He was a very very good kid,
- 7:17Speaker 1: particularly after his father had suffered from a stroke. So
- 7:21Speaker 1: in the wake of this family ordeal, he extended his assistance,
- 7:25Speaker 1: tending to needs that his parents' household might need, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: maybe doing some lawn work. I don't know exactly the
- 7:31Speaker 1: extent of his help, but I'm sure some labor around
- 7:34Speaker 1: the house or helping take care of his father or
- 7:36Speaker 1: something like that would be part of that. So that's
- 7:39Speaker 1: what he was doing, lending a hand where he could.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Wow, I already feel like this guy is freaking awesome.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Lars is a good dude. Yeah, yeah, many people actually
- 7:48Speaker 1: really got along with them. To those who actually knew Lars,
- 7:52Speaker 1: he was more than just an ordinary individual. He was
- 7:54Speaker 1: someone who consistently liked to make others laugh. He was
- 7:57Speaker 1: kind of a funny, a happy go lucky type guy.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And he was someone who consistently played the role of
- 8:02Speaker 1: a peacemaker when conversations, you know, became a little bit tense.
- 8:07Speaker 1: He was always one to like step in and try
- 8:08Speaker 1: and calm things down and be like, well, guys, it's
- 8:10Speaker 1: all good. Like I don't know. Kind of brings me
- 8:13Speaker 1: to this old proverb of like I don't know if
- 8:14Speaker 1: it's like a proverb, but like a tactic for drinking
- 8:17Speaker 1: in bars, which I always memorized but I've never needed
- 8:20Speaker 1: to use because I'm not much of a bar drinker.
- 8:22Speaker 1: But it's if you ever get in like an altercation
- 8:26Speaker 1: with an individual and a bar, okay, for example, say,
- 8:29Speaker 1: for example, if I make eye contact with his girlfriend
- 8:31Speaker 1: because I simply think she looks familiar to someone who
- 8:34Speaker 1: went to elementary school with or something whatever reason, Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 1: he's like, Hey, you're looking at my girlfriend, and all
- 8:39Speaker 1: you have to do is just be nice. You don't
- 8:43Speaker 1: need to stir up an altercation and offered to buy
- 8:46Speaker 1: him a drink.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's that easy.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I mean it's that easy. I mean instead of being like, yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 1: I'm looking at your girl, Can I buy a drink? No,
- 8:53Speaker 1: it's been like, oh sorry, I was just dazed. Man,
- 8:56Speaker 1: good on you. She's beautiful here. Can I buy you
- 8:57Speaker 1: a drink? What's your name?
- 9:00Speaker 2: Oh?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Wow?
- 9:00Speaker 2: Okay, yeah. That would turn it around quite a bit,
- 9:03Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, oh, good for you, man, You land
- 9:05Speaker 1: yourself a good one. Can I buy you drink? What
- 9:07Speaker 1: are you up to?
- 9:07Speaker 2: What's that?
- 9:07Speaker 1: What's happening? What's your name? You know that sort of thing.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And I think he's kind of the same sort of
- 9:13Speaker 1: person who would do that. Is that very much so
- 9:15Speaker 1: peacemaker type individual?
- 9:17Speaker 2: Well? Yeah, I feel like a lot of people wouldn't
- 9:19Speaker 2: necessarily do something like that. No, Like, if you were
- 9:23Speaker 2: accused of something like that right away, you'd probably just
- 9:26Speaker 2: get pissed. I'm not you, per se, but like the
- 9:28Speaker 2: majority of people, right.
- 9:30Speaker 1: No, it's it's better. The old proverb that I was
- 9:33Speaker 1: originally actually talking about is it's better to be a
- 9:35Speaker 1: warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, say that again.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It's better to be a warrior in a garden than
- 9:43Speaker 1: a gardener in a war.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Ah.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Okay, right, so you rather know how to fight and
- 9:49Speaker 1: not have to fight, right then not know how to
- 9:51Speaker 1: fight and have to fight.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Jeez, Okay, that's deep. I am like so tired right
- 9:57Speaker 2: now that I feel like my brain is processed shit
- 10:00Speaker 2: very slowly.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Well, I'm dropping some bombs on you with information to day.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, so maybe it's.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Not a well I mean that like you're getting like
- 10:08Speaker 1: the oh I see the old Japanese proverb of the
- 10:11Speaker 1: gardener and the warriors thing. Yeah.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Well, I just have to say, you're describing this person
- 10:14Speaker 2: quite well, Like I already feel like I know, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 2: like I have a picture in my head.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Well that's good. Yeah, Well to add to it if
- 10:22Speaker 1: I may. He had a slender build, slender athletic build.
- 10:26Speaker 1: He had short brown hair, a little bit of frosted tips,
- 10:28Speaker 1: and his nice deep brown eyes to go with it.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Lars was also a very devoted football or soccer for
- 10:36Speaker 1: North American individuals. He was a very devoted football fan
- 10:39Speaker 1: and his favorite team was the Worden Bremen team. Okay, So,
- 10:44Speaker 1: as Lars was living his life and devoting a lot
- 10:46Speaker 1: of his time to spend with others, the calendar eventually
- 10:49Speaker 1: would roll into June of twenty fourteen, and this is
- 10:53Speaker 1: when Lars is at the age of twenty eight. Lars
- 10:55Speaker 1: would embark in a journey to varn Bulgaria, accompanied by
- 10:59Speaker 1: four of his closest friends. It was a vacation for
- 11:02Speaker 1: some downtime and for Lars to just kind of relax
- 11:05Speaker 1: and focus on himself a little bit more. He's, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 1: living a life, working hard, helping take care of his
- 11:10Speaker 1: parents and building a relationship with his girlfriend. Just kind
- 11:14Speaker 1: of some alone downtime, hang out with the boys kind
- 11:16Speaker 1: of situation. So the week long escapade was destined for
- 11:22Speaker 1: the Viva Club hotel within the scenic embrace of the
- 11:26Speaker 1: Golden Sands Resorts, which is oh oh Sands.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Oh I was thinking Sandals, Sorry.
- 11:34Speaker 1: No Golden Sands Resort. This was positioned approximately seventeen kilometers
- 11:39Speaker 1: north of the bustling heart of Varnaka. Now the Golden Sands,
- 11:43Speaker 1: not Sandals or anything like that. It's said to have
- 11:46Speaker 1: rivaled that of the Abiza and it was apparently captivating
- 11:49Speaker 1: a lot of European tourists for like the whole like sunsets,
- 11:53Speaker 1: the sunkiss days, the beaches, the shores, and to top
- 11:57Speaker 1: it all off, a lot of really.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Cheap okay, yeah sounds lovely, definitely.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So Lars and his friends made their way there and
- 12:05Speaker 1: they're having the time of their lives and making memories
- 12:08Speaker 1: for years to come. Their days were filled with, of course, shenanigans, relaxation,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and even football, as the World Cup semi finals were
- 12:16Speaker 1: currently taking place and they were being played across the
- 12:18Speaker 1: screens of all the local bars and pubs in the area.
- 12:22Speaker 1: So the beginning of their vacation spanned for the first
- 12:24Speaker 1: five days and unfolded relatively uneventful. It was just some
- 12:29Speaker 1: good moments, just fun, just relaxing, just vacation now. One
- 12:34Speaker 1: of Lars's friends, Paul roman recollected to quote him directly,
- 12:39Speaker 1: the week went by really fast, kind of like a
- 12:43Speaker 1: blink and you miss it sort of. Yeah, when you're
- 12:45Speaker 1: having fun, that tends to happen.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I feel like that's the shitty thing about vacations is
- 12:49Speaker 2: you work. Your work week will drag on by your
- 12:52Speaker 2: vacation week or whatever.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Just gone or flash exactly so, and it was the
- 12:56Speaker 1: same situation here. They're just having fun and it's going
- 12:58Speaker 1: by so fast you need to stop and kind of
- 13:01Speaker 1: take it in to really enjoy it. Now, however, there
- 13:04Speaker 1: was a pivotal shift in their vacation that occurred on
- 13:07Speaker 1: the fifth of July. So on this day, Lars found
- 13:11Speaker 1: himself in a bit of a disagreement with some fellow
- 13:13Speaker 1: German tourists and fellow football fans. Oh Now, as I mentioned,
- 13:19Speaker 1: Lars was a supporter of the Werner Brennan team, while
- 13:23Speaker 1: these other individuals were fans of the Brayer Munich team,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and they didn't seem to find it too funny when
- 13:30Speaker 1: Lars made light of rivalries and was changing around team
- 13:33Speaker 1: flags and some of the tables in the bar.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Oh so he was just like, probably had a few
- 13:39Speaker 2: too many drinks and just kind of playing around having fun.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Then these people weren't into that.
- 13:45Speaker 1: No, they weren't having it. And I mean, football fans
- 13:47Speaker 1: are known worldwide to be a little bit much at times.
- 13:52Speaker 1: There's riots that breakout and stuff like that. So not
- 13:56Speaker 1: necessarily that they all are, but tensions tend to get
- 13:58Speaker 1: high regarding football.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:00Speaker 1: So the group that you know was the Brayern Munich
- 14:03Speaker 1: fans voiced their opinions and aggravation on this practical joke
- 14:08Speaker 1: that Lars had just played, and things quickly escalated into
- 14:12Speaker 1: a full on verbal altercation between them and Lars and
- 14:17Speaker 1: his group of friends. Okay, so emotions were flaring, tempers
- 14:21Speaker 1: were high, and after the heated argument had passed, they
- 14:24Speaker 1: were all left with a rather thick tension lingering in
- 14:28Speaker 1: the air, which I don't think would make for the
- 14:31Speaker 1: greatest of drinking atmospheres. Probably not, No, especially in vacation.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and you had said that Lars is kind
- 14:38Speaker 2: of a peace keeper, right, Yes, so I can't imagine
- 14:42Speaker 2: this is settling very well with him.
- 14:43Speaker 1: No, I don't think so. I think he, in this
- 14:47Speaker 1: heated argument, was probably trying to like guys, it's just
- 14:50Speaker 1: a joke sort of thing, but I don't think they
- 14:51Speaker 1: were having any of it by the sounds of it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So Lars and his group of friends collectively decided that
- 14:57Speaker 1: it was time for them to leave the bar and
- 14:59Speaker 1: they were going to head somewhere else to grab a
- 15:00Speaker 1: bite to eat before heading back to the hotel for
- 15:02Speaker 1: the night. Now their chosen destination was the same choice
- 15:05Speaker 1: of any other drunken mid twenties individual. McDonald's.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Okay, I went to fast food, but I was like,
- 15:14Speaker 2: is it fast food?
- 15:15Speaker 1: Yeah? They chose to go to McDonald's.
- 15:17Speaker 2: There you go.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Lars, however, he wasn't too hungry at this time. Maybe
- 15:20Speaker 1: he was distraughted by you know, the thought of the
- 15:22Speaker 1: altercation or whatever. But he wasn't going to get anything,
- 15:25Speaker 1: so he decided to wait outside the restaurant while his
- 15:28Speaker 1: friends went inside to order their food. So they did
- 15:32Speaker 1: just that. They went inside, they got the food, came
- 15:34Speaker 1: back out, and Lars was nowhere to be found. Just gone,
- 15:39Speaker 1: just gone. Now they were a little perplexed, to say
- 15:42Speaker 1: the least, but they weren't immediately alarmed. I mean, after all,
- 15:45Speaker 1: he's he was getting tired too, just like they were.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Maybe he didn't want to wait, and he just kind
- 15:50Speaker 1: of wandered back to the hotel, right like, they'll head there, Nah,
- 15:53Speaker 1: they'll meet him there and that's that.
- 15:55Speaker 2: But still that does seem a bit odd, right, like
- 15:57Speaker 2: they were hanging out the whole trip together, and then
- 16:01Speaker 2: how long does it really take to be getting your McDonald's.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, exactly, it's odd for sure, but like, well,
- 16:08Speaker 1: what do you do? Right, he probably just headed back
- 16:10Speaker 1: to the hotel, So they made their way back to
- 16:13Speaker 1: the hotel too, and once they arrived there at the room,
- 16:16Speaker 1: Lars was not there.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
- 16:21Speaker 1: So they were quite concerned. But again, what do they do.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It's not like you can report a missing He's an adult,
- 16:30Speaker 1: he's been out drinking. He's probably just wandering around having fun.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Maybe he ran into someone and just got pulled off
- 16:36Speaker 1: to a bar for another drink. Or maybe he saw
- 16:38Speaker 1: on a TV another soccer game or football, sorry, football game.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Who knows. There's a million different reasons that he could
- 16:45Speaker 1: be off doing something else.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Well, I feel like I would be going back to
- 16:48Speaker 2: the McDonald's though, because I'd kind of be like, oh, shoot,
- 16:51Speaker 2: like we left our friend there, like he's probably went
- 16:55Speaker 2: off somewhere but then came back and now we're not there,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and well.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I think they're kind of expecting him to show up
- 17:01Speaker 1: at the hotel any moment sort of thing.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Oh, they're just kind of waiting around.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they're kind of like, well, he's going to show
- 17:05Speaker 1: up pretty quick, and he's probably going to show up
- 17:07Speaker 1: with some sort of story explaining what happened, right, and
- 17:11Speaker 1: that's exactly what did occur.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Okay, okay, good.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Lars not too long later returned back at the hotel
- 17:18Speaker 1: and he had exactly that a story to tell on
- 17:21Speaker 1: what happened. So his account detailed another altercation geez, what's
- 17:29Speaker 1: up with this with four individuals who Lars said were
- 17:32Speaker 1: either Bulgarian or Russian, and they attacked him when he
- 17:36Speaker 1: was alone, leaving him to adore the assault and run
- 17:40Speaker 1: for his life.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Oh geez.
- 17:43Speaker 1: So, as he recounted the incident to his friends, Lars
- 17:46Speaker 1: told them he suspected a link between this attack and
- 17:50Speaker 1: the altercation they had earlier at the Barbee with the
- 17:53Speaker 1: group of German tourists. In fact, Lars was convinced that
- 17:58Speaker 1: those guys had actually hired these four guys to follow
- 18:02Speaker 1: him and assault him. Okay, so that's what he thought
- 18:06Speaker 1: was going on.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Well, yeah, it does seem pretty weird that there would
- 18:09Speaker 2: be two altercations like this in one night.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It does, for sure, So that's kind of what he's thinking.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah, And because I'm also kind of assuming that Lars
- 18:18Speaker 2: does not have these kind of alter altercations regularly, right.
- 18:21Speaker 1: No, not as far as I could tell. No, definitely not.
- 18:25Speaker 1: And I mean his friends were quite worried about the
- 18:27Speaker 1: situation too, Like, he clearly he got beat up a
- 18:30Speaker 1: bit here. He's not like busted up lip or anything
- 18:33Speaker 1: like that, but he's you know, he's been tossed around,
- 18:36Speaker 1: you could tell that, right. So, despite of this the
- 18:39Speaker 1: gravity of this story that he was telling, his friends
- 18:42Speaker 1: were a little bit skeptical. Not against the assault, as
- 18:45Speaker 1: I mentioned, but the idea that someone would be hired
- 18:49Speaker 1: specifically to target him, especially when they're off on vacation
- 18:52Speaker 1: over a simple altercation that they had in the bar
- 18:55Speaker 1: earlier that night. It's kind of a bit of a
- 18:58Speaker 1: far fetched stretch, really.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Yeah, like had gone too far.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Yeah. So, nonetheless, whether they believed him or not, they
- 19:05Speaker 1: were just relieved that he was back and he's now safe.
- 19:09Speaker 1: So now, as for the attack, Lars was left a
- 19:13Speaker 1: little bit injured. He complained of discomfort in his ear
- 19:17Speaker 1: from a hit that he took to the side of
- 19:18Speaker 1: the head, and he was actually struggling to hear from
- 19:22Speaker 1: that ear as well. So it was obvious he needed
- 19:25Speaker 1: to do what go see a doctor, right, so he
- 19:28Speaker 1: did that. He went and got checked out. It was
- 19:30Speaker 1: two days later when he went and got checked out.
- 19:33Speaker 1: The diagnosis was a ruptured ear drum and an injury
- 19:36Speaker 1: to his jaw.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Okay, that's like that seems like a
- 19:40Speaker 2: little bit much.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Well, I think it was like he got hit right
- 19:43Speaker 1: on the ear and that ear That air pressure can
- 19:45Speaker 1: actually go in and rupture an ear drum rather easy.
- 19:49Speaker 1: They're pretty weak. So if you get hit just right, Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 1: it can blow out your ear drum.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. I don't even know exactly what that means.
- 19:56Speaker 2: But okay, like I don't know how that how you
- 19:59Speaker 2: would heal from that or anything.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm not too sure the healing process either. I'm sure
- 20:03Speaker 1: it depends on how badly it's ruptured.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I feel like maybe it's sounding something like
- 20:09Speaker 2: that sounds worse than it actually is, But I have
- 20:11Speaker 2: no idea. Now I want to google it.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Well, you'll do some googling after I will. Yeah, so
- 20:16Speaker 1: the doctor did tell Lars, you know, with your ruptured
- 20:18Speaker 1: ear drum, you can't be flying anywhere as the altitude
- 20:21Speaker 1: and pressure change could cause or further harm to the
- 20:24Speaker 1: ear drum and potentially cause irreversible damage.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Okay, Yes, as soon as you said that, I was like,
- 20:29Speaker 2: how on earth is like he gonna fly? It did
- 20:32Speaker 2: pop in my head here, yeah, because and then I
- 20:34Speaker 2: was like, oh did they fly there? They did fly there?
- 20:36Speaker 1: They did fly Wow, And he can't be flying home
- 20:39Speaker 1: right now. Shit, So of course there is a significant problem.
- 20:42Speaker 1: How is he going to get home? Their flight is
- 20:44Speaker 1: scheduled for the next day because they're there for a week,
- 20:48Speaker 1: So it was five days in when they got attacked,
- 20:50Speaker 1: and now it's been two days, so the next day
- 20:53Speaker 1: is when they leave. So the doctor did also prescribe
- 20:57Speaker 1: an antibiotic called CEF brazil five hundred milligrams was prescribed
- 21:02Speaker 1: to him to combat any potential infection and that's what
- 21:05Speaker 1: this is, specifically for any sort of potential infection that
- 21:08Speaker 1: could occur in the ear drum while healing. So take this,
- 21:12Speaker 1: it'll help prevent that. He also advised that Lars go
- 21:17Speaker 1: to the hospital and seek surgery, surgery for the ear
- 21:22Speaker 1: drum as well.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Shit.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So Lars now stood at the crossroads of a critical decision. Now,
- 21:27Speaker 1: first and foremost, he knew right away he wasn't going
- 21:29Speaker 1: to go seek surgery, but should he risk flying home
- 21:33Speaker 1: with this injury? That's the second question. In solidarity. His
- 21:38Speaker 1: friends right away offered to stay behind with him, but
- 21:41Speaker 1: Lars refused. He didn't want to trouble them. He didn't
- 21:44Speaker 1: want to make them stay behind or anything. He decided
- 21:47Speaker 1: he's going to stay behind himself before he flies home,
- 21:50Speaker 1: so heel up a little bit and fly home.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Do we know how long that he was supposed to wait?
- 21:55Speaker 2: Had it said that?
- 21:56Speaker 1: Well, I think it varies depending how he was healing,
- 22:00Speaker 1: depending on how he was healing, depending on the severity
- 22:02Speaker 1: of the injury. By the sounds of it, it's only
- 22:06Speaker 1: a few days wait, is what would have been expected.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Because where they are located, and by country, we're not
- 22:13Speaker 1: talking like Canada North America where it's like crazy distances
- 22:17Speaker 1: you have to go. No, it's like he could also
- 22:19Speaker 1: just bust there right Okay, so that's another option, but
- 22:22Speaker 1: we will be talking about that a little bit later.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But anyways, Lars decided he's going to stay here alone,
- 22:27Speaker 1: heel up before he flies home. So with all this
- 22:31Speaker 1: seasonal tourism that was going on at the time, the
- 22:35Speaker 1: task of securing last minute accommodations wasn't exactly easy, especially
- 22:40Speaker 1: somewhere close to where he was already familiarized with by
- 22:43Speaker 1: the nice you know hotels and all these accommodations. It was,
- 22:48Speaker 1: you know, not fun, especially when you consider it's extra
- 22:53Speaker 1: costs on top of what.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean the idea of like extending your
- 22:57Speaker 2: vacations seems kind of awesome, but then I'll lot of
- 23:00Speaker 2: times at the end, at the end of your vacation
- 23:02Speaker 2: kind of want to just get home. Yeah, and then
- 23:04Speaker 2: you don't have stuff pre booked, and budgets are really
- 23:08Speaker 2: part of it disaster.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah, So that's kind of what it was for him.
- 23:10Speaker 1: He was forced to kind of go somewhere where he
- 23:12Speaker 1: wasn't familiar with because he hasn't been around over in
- 23:15Speaker 1: this area. He's spending it all the time over here
- 23:17Speaker 1: sort of thing, so low on budget in an unknown area,
- 23:21Speaker 1: he was actually forced to look at cheaper and unfamiliar
- 23:24Speaker 1: alternatives basically, and it would be the hotel Color where
- 23:27Speaker 1: Lars would book his new room at. And this area
- 23:31Speaker 1: which the hotel was located was a little more run
- 23:33Speaker 1: down and rough around the edges. You can say, okay,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but he could book it, you could afford it. It
- 23:40Speaker 1: would have to do. So the first night solo in
- 23:44Speaker 1: his hotel is where things begin to go downhill for Lars.
- 23:49Speaker 1: At ten thirty pm, he got on the phone with
- 23:51Speaker 1: his mother, Sandra Mittank. Now, he seemed very shook and
- 23:56Speaker 1: very nervous when he was talking to her, and he
- 23:59Speaker 1: asked her if she could cancel his credit and debit
- 24:02Speaker 1: card for him because he believed they were copied when
- 24:04Speaker 1: he checked into his hotel, and then he promptly hung up.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Oh geez, Okay, that's an alarming call for a parent.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Ah.
- 24:14Speaker 1: So throughout the night there was multiple phone calls back
- 24:16Speaker 1: and forth between them, and Sandra spoke on the phone
- 24:19Speaker 1: with her sons several times. She described the conversations as
- 24:22Speaker 1: very odd, as her son seemed extremely worried and was paranoid.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He confided in his mom that he believed he was
- 24:29Speaker 1: being followed by four men. He would actually even whisper
- 24:34Speaker 1: in the phone as he talked to her, as though
- 24:36Speaker 1: he thought someone could be listening in to the conversation.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Oh my.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Lars also asked his mom about the drug his doctor
- 24:43Speaker 1: had prescribed him in a rather concerned fashion. So he's
- 24:48Speaker 1: very concerned about this drug that his doctor gave him.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Huh, you must have to wonder if he got like
- 24:54Speaker 2: a concussion or something sort of where my head is going.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well, well we will talk theories at the
- 25:01Speaker 1: end here, but that is a potential one for sure. Now.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Surveillance footage of the hotel from that night shows large Lars,
- 25:08Speaker 1: very agitated, pacing restlessly throughout the lobby. He would repeatedly
- 25:13Speaker 1: look out the windows over his shoulders and would disappear
- 25:16Speaker 1: and reappear again and again from the elevator. At around
- 25:19Speaker 1: one am, Lars ventured outside the hotel premise for about
- 25:23Speaker 1: an hour, where his whereabouts were completely unaccounted for, before
- 25:27Speaker 1: he would return to the hotel. Eventually, though, the sun
- 25:31Speaker 1: would rise on the dawn of July eighth, and Lars's
- 25:35Speaker 1: paranoia reached a peak. He was in desperate need to
- 25:39Speaker 1: get home. His mom, Sandra, managed to secure a flight
- 25:42Speaker 1: for him that afternoon, while also ensuring contingency plan in
- 25:46Speaker 1: the form of a bus ticket, as I mentioned, because
- 25:49Speaker 1: in case he can't fly, because it's only been like barely.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Passah, hardly.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe, I don't know, maybe thirty six hours. I'm
- 25:59Speaker 1: going to guess approxy at this point, because I would
- 26:01Speaker 1: assume it's probably somewhere in the afternoon when he learned
- 26:04Speaker 1: it from the doctor the next day. The whole day
- 26:07Speaker 1: has passed hour in the morning, so maybe close to
- 26:09Speaker 1: forty I guess. Okay, so about forty hours. So he's
- 26:13Speaker 1: got a plane ticket and a bus ticket booked. Now
- 26:16Speaker 1: it was set, one way or another, he was going
- 26:19Speaker 1: to be coming home and escaping whatever troubles that he
- 26:22Speaker 1: seemed to think he was in. Now Lars also requested
- 26:26Speaker 1: his mom send him five hundred dollars to his bank
- 26:29Speaker 1: account now regardless of the reason that five hundred dollars
- 26:33Speaker 1: would remain in his bank account and would be untouched.
- 26:38Speaker 1: He then made his way via a taxi ride to
- 26:40Speaker 1: the Varna Airport. He shared a cab with a young woman,
- 26:44Speaker 1: and during the ride, this young woman noticed that he
- 26:47Speaker 1: seemed to be acting very odd and that his eyes
- 26:50Speaker 1: were very dilated. Whatever was going on with Lars was
- 26:55Speaker 1: clearly getting worse. Airport security campus show Lars arriving and
- 27:02Speaker 1: entering the airport carrying a black duffel bag and the
- 27:06Speaker 1: distinctive red and black backpack. He pushed through the doors
- 27:10Speaker 1: and immediately headed towards the airport medical facility. Doctor Costa
- 27:15Speaker 1: cost of was the attending physician and Lars was there
- 27:18Speaker 1: to get his ear checked to ensure he could actually fly,
- 27:23Speaker 1: make sure it's safe, you know, the whole kitten kaboodle.
- 27:26Speaker 1: So doctor Kostev remembers the visit with Lars and his
- 27:29Speaker 1: behaviors at the time. He was fidgety, nervous, and seemed
- 27:34Speaker 1: to be shaking. His nerves were clearly getting the best
- 27:37Speaker 1: of him. Lars was also asking about his previously prescribed medication,
- 27:42Speaker 1: voicing concerns and confusion about it.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You almost have to wonder, h like, this is another
- 27:49Speaker 2: I guess theory I'm putting out there. If he's having
- 27:52Speaker 2: like some sort of allergic reaction to this medication or something.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I'm going to let you voice your opinion. Go for it.
- 27:58Speaker 1: But I'm not going to talk theory until the end.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So if you want to go for it, go for it.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I have to get it out of my brain.
- 28:04Speaker 2: So that's that's just something I needed to put out there.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, gotcha. The two talked a bit about the
- 28:11Speaker 1: medications and the doctor began taking a look at Lars's ear. Now,
- 28:16Speaker 1: luckily for Lars, he received some good news. He was
- 28:19Speaker 1: well enough to fly.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Wow. Okay.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Upon hearing the news, relief should have rushed over Lars's face,
- 28:26Speaker 1: but instead a look of fear was in its place.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Huh.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Just then, a construction worker walked into the doctor's office,
- 28:36Speaker 1: and at that moment, Lars, and at the moment Lars
- 28:39Speaker 1: laid eyes on the man. He panicked. Lars stood up
- 28:43Speaker 1: and screamed, quote, I don't want to die here. I
- 28:46Speaker 1: have to get out of here, and he bolted out
- 28:49Speaker 1: of the doctor's office.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Hmm. So is it like that he kind of recognized
- 28:54Speaker 2: the construction worker maybe, or we don't really know, okay,
- 28:58Speaker 2: or you're just not saying right yet. Okay.
- 29:01Speaker 1: So once he exited the doctor's office, he bolted down
- 29:04Speaker 1: the hallway, bolted through the airport, and was seen on
- 29:08Speaker 1: security footage running out of the front doors, across the
- 29:11Speaker 1: property and highway into a field, over a two meters
- 29:14Speaker 1: high fence, then off into the woods.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Holy shit, this was.
- 29:18Speaker 1: The last time Lars was ever seen.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Hey, yes, you almost have to feel
- 29:26Speaker 2: like really fucking bad for him, because some shit is
- 29:29Speaker 2: going down, you bet you.
- 29:31Speaker 1: And in his panic, Lars left his backpack, his duffel bag,
- 29:35Speaker 1: all of his stuff, all of it, his possessions, identification, passport,
- 29:41Speaker 1: all of it was left in the doctor's office.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Huh wow. Okay, that's like very alarming for family too.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Oh you bet you, Like I don't actually think that
- 29:51Speaker 2: I could be settled with that. I mean, like he's
- 29:54Speaker 2: still missing, which is so right, Yeah, unsettling. I'm like,
- 29:59Speaker 2: we do know that, right.
- 30:00Speaker 1: That's the end of the story. Now we're just into theories.
- 30:02Speaker 1: That is the story of Lars. There's a couple more
- 30:05Speaker 1: little tweaks at the end here after the theories. I
- 30:07Speaker 1: will say that, but that is the basis of the story.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't think I would ever be able
- 30:13Speaker 2: to rest with that, Like that is unreal, yeap, that
- 30:19Speaker 2: that happens and then all of a sudden he's just gone.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Do we not know if like this construction worker person
- 30:26Speaker 2: was recognizable to him? Nope, the construction worker just played
- 30:30Speaker 2: dumb kind of thing.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I mean, as far as we know the construction worker.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Because there are some details that we are going to
- 30:37Speaker 1: go over in the theories here, Like you talked about
- 30:38Speaker 1: an allergic reaction. There is a detail that can go
- 30:41Speaker 1: right along with that that we'll talk about. But as
- 30:42Speaker 1: far as the construction worker goes, I could find nothing that.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Would show that they were aware of each other or
- 30:49Speaker 2: of each other for all we know.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Maybe it was paranoia and he just saw this construction worker,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and the construction worker is literally just that some random
- 30:57Speaker 1: construction worker, and Lars panicked because maybe he thought he
- 31:01Speaker 1: recognized him, or thought maybe he was some other like
- 31:05Speaker 1: a hitman or something. Who knows.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Wow, this is bizarre. Okay, let's get into these theories please.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Okay. Well, there are numerous theories that are circulating around
- 31:15Speaker 1: the internet, each offering its own interesting thought and perspective.
- 31:20Speaker 1: One prevalent one explores the idea of someone who is
- 31:24Speaker 1: after Lars, which raises the question who and why. So
- 31:28Speaker 1: it is possible that it stems from the whole bar
- 31:30Speaker 1: fights related to football sort of thing. But it's kind
- 31:34Speaker 1: of hard to think someone like this would or something
- 31:37Speaker 1: like this would happen over something so trivial, right, But
- 31:40Speaker 1: then again, as I mentioned, football fans are known be
- 31:44Speaker 1: rather intense at times, so who knows.
- 31:46Speaker 2: They take it very seriously.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Very seriously, and very personal, especially regarding my team versus
- 31:52Speaker 1: your team or that team sort of thing. It's almost
- 31:56Speaker 1: religious to a point. Now, an alternate theory proposes that
- 32:01Speaker 1: Lars might have delved into more shady circles during his
- 32:06Speaker 1: stay at the Hotel Color, which aligns with another theory
- 32:10Speaker 1: suggesting that maybe while he was on vacation he was
- 32:12Speaker 1: involved with drug smuggling as a mule, And it's a
- 32:18Speaker 1: possibility that he might have actually unknowingly taken part in
- 32:24Speaker 1: an operation and discovered it while he was already abroad.
- 32:29Speaker 1: So it's also possible that Lars was under the influence
- 32:32Speaker 1: of these said drugs, leading to his erratic behavior and paranoia.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Okay, I'm confused by that one. So he before he
- 32:42Speaker 2: left he was involved in this.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Well, that's about four different theories, but they all kind
- 32:47Speaker 1: of play on each other. So basically, he could have
- 32:53Speaker 1: that the Hotel Color and the kind of shady part
- 32:55Speaker 1: of town gotten mixed up with some bad people, okay, yeah,
- 32:59Speaker 1: Or could have been taken part in drug smuggling as
- 33:03Speaker 1: a mule. Or he could have unknowingly been a mule.
- 33:08Speaker 1: One of his friends or someone potentially stuffed drugs in
- 33:11Speaker 1: his bag and then he found out and was trying
- 33:14Speaker 1: to refuse or something and then that got him in trouble.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Or maybe he was on certain drugs that caused the
- 33:22Speaker 1: paranoia and behaviors. So that's about four different theories that
- 33:27Speaker 1: play off each other, but could also be all theories
- 33:30Speaker 1: on their own too.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Okay, that's really interesting.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Now, among the more plausible theories is one posing that
- 33:40Speaker 1: Lar's condition extended beyond mer ruptured ear drum, as you mentioned,
- 33:45Speaker 1: a concussion, right, Yeah, so that's what this idea actually
- 33:49Speaker 1: talks about. It proposes that he might have experienced a
- 33:51Speaker 1: minor concussion or another head injury in a shape or
- 33:54Speaker 1: form which accounted for his erratic conduct and heightened paranoia
- 33:58Speaker 1: and just all his weird behaviors.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I feel like that makes a lot of sense to me.
- 34:02Speaker 1: It does, actually, and it could explain the dilated pupils
- 34:06Speaker 1: and disorientation.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Now, counter to this, his family confirmed that he had
- 34:11Speaker 1: no prior mental health issues, further deepening the mystery surrounding
- 34:14Speaker 1: the whole disappearance and behaviors. But a concussion is certainly
- 34:18Speaker 1: not off the table.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because if he didn't get like tested for
- 34:22Speaker 2: it or tested properly when he went in and they
- 34:24Speaker 2: just kind of figured out it's just like the ear drum,
- 34:26Speaker 2: but there really was something else going on, it would
- 34:29Speaker 2: almost explain all of this, really, I mean, it doesn't
- 34:32Speaker 2: necessarily explain where the heck he is at this moment
- 34:35Speaker 2: in time or what happened to him after that footage,
- 34:38Speaker 2: but the paranoia and just like not seeming like himself
- 34:43Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 34:43Speaker 1: It could if you consider that maybe amnesia was another factor.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Okay, what do you mean by loss of memory? Okay?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Is where he is?
- 34:54Speaker 2: Shit? Yeah? But and then I guess too, he could
- 34:57Speaker 2: have just like even succumbed to his inies or something.
- 35:01Speaker 2: But then you think that his body would have been.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Found hard to say.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Huh, Okay, that one is sticking with me here.
- 35:09Speaker 1: So all these theories do remain subjects of debate among
- 35:13Speaker 1: a lot of experts and family members and of course
- 35:16Speaker 1: internet sleuths. Right though, his mother, along with the Bulgarian,
- 35:20Speaker 1: German and medical professionals, have considered the possibility that his
- 35:23Speaker 1: odd behavior might have stemmed from an uncommon side effect
- 35:27Speaker 1: from the antibiotic he was prescribed, which is called CEF Brazil. Now,
- 35:33Speaker 1: there is one problem with this. The catch is that
- 35:36Speaker 1: doctor Costoff contradicts this hypothesis by revealing that Lars when
- 35:41Speaker 1: he came into the hospital the airport hospital to see
- 35:45Speaker 1: him and was questioning him about it. Yeah, he had
- 35:48Speaker 1: the prescription slip. He did not fill the prescription. He
- 35:51Speaker 1: never took any of that medication.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Oh seriously, seriously.
- 35:57Speaker 1: He did not fill his prescription, according to the doctor.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Oh so, theoretically, unless it was something illegal, he was
- 36:06Speaker 1: not on any drugs or substances.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Huh, unless it was a really weird error where he
- 36:13Speaker 2: maybe got the prescription but then they didn't actually take
- 36:15Speaker 2: the like the piece of paper.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Well, maybe maybe there was more to it. Maybe he
- 36:20Speaker 1: talked to him and he confirmed that he wasn't on
- 36:22Speaker 1: the medication. But the doctor stands by and says he
- 36:25Speaker 1: did not fill that prescription.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Huh. Okay, Can I just point out too how smart
- 36:30Speaker 2: I am and that two of these theories I have
- 36:33Speaker 2: already came up with during the podcast. I'm just like
- 36:36Speaker 2: gonna pat myself on the back.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Good job. Yeah, you better patch yourself hard enough that
- 36:39Speaker 1: everybody can hear it. Right now, There you go, that
- 36:45Speaker 1: was a good pat. So, despite the extensive efforts by police,
- 36:51Speaker 1: Lars Midank's fate remains completely unknown. His mother, Sandra Uh,
- 36:58Speaker 1: did all she could help her son. Shanelisted services of
- 37:01Speaker 1: a private investigator, one named Andreas gutig So. Andreas explored
- 37:07Speaker 1: hospital records in his search to try and find unidentified
- 37:11Speaker 1: patients who might match Large's descriptions.
- 37:14Speaker 2: If he doesn't remember who the fuck he is and
- 37:16Speaker 2: he has no identification exactly, oh my gosh.
- 37:20Speaker 1: But it yielded no results.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Oh okay, that is very unsettling. Okay, he left all
- 37:29Speaker 2: the doctor's office, so awful. Yeah, his poor, poor mother,
- 37:35Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 37:37Speaker 1: So if he doesn't know who he is, there is
- 37:39Speaker 1: no way of him finding.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Out right, and it's just like kind of in hope
- 37:45Speaker 2: that he gets recognized or something. But like he's in
- 37:47Speaker 2: a for like a country that he's not from.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yep.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Like if this happened to you when you were like
- 37:53Speaker 2: in your home city or whatever, you.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Know, but even still depending on the population of your city.
- 37:58Speaker 1: In our city's one thing, but if you go to
- 38:00Speaker 1: like Toronto or Vancouver or something.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I was more so thinking our city.
- 38:04Speaker 1: But yeah, big cities is a little different. Yeah, so
- 38:09Speaker 1: it's wild.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Oh no, I am like, yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Now, you also did touch on the idea on his
- 38:17Speaker 1: survival rate. Now, he did have a background in actor
- 38:21Speaker 1: activities like hunting and fishing, but survival of the harsh
- 38:25Speaker 1: summer conditions, compounded by limited access to food, made his
- 38:30Speaker 1: survival rate rather slim. His mom does still hold on
- 38:35Speaker 1: to hope, though, believing that maybe he is just suffering
- 38:38Speaker 1: with memory loss and that that's the only reason why
- 38:40Speaker 1: he hasn't come home yet.
- 38:42Speaker 2: But this was twenty fourteen, Hey you bet you so,
- 38:45Speaker 2: nine years ago?
- 38:47Speaker 1: Jeez. Now. There have been numerous alleged sightings of Lars
- 38:54Speaker 1: in various countries that have emerged. None, however, have turned
- 38:59Speaker 1: up anything. A notable sighting was in twenty fifteen and
- 39:04Speaker 1: involved a German truck driver offering a lift to a hitchhiker.
- 39:08Speaker 1: The hitchhiker apparently bore a resemblance to a little bit
- 39:12Speaker 1: of a more weathered Lars, sporting long hair and a beard,
- 39:17Speaker 1: appearing fatigued and with prominent cheekbones. The driver reported it
- 39:22Speaker 1: weeks after the encounter, and he reported it weeks after
- 39:26Speaker 1: only because he had learned of Lars's case after picking
- 39:30Speaker 1: up the hitchhiker, and once he figured out the case
- 39:33Speaker 1: and saw the resemblance, then reported it.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Oh so, it's like if only he had known of
- 39:38Speaker 2: this case before.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Hey, you bet you so he picked up this individual
- 39:43Speaker 1: in Dresden and took them to Schlidoh in, I'm really
- 39:48Speaker 1: going to butcher this pronunciation Brandenburg and Brandenburg's over Havel
- 39:54Speaker 1: County just north of Berlin. Good work, but nothing has
- 39:58Speaker 1: come out of that sighting or any others since.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Wow, I I this one has gotten me here. Holy.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So mom, Lars's mom still holds onto hope. She continues
- 40:12Speaker 1: to post on social media about her missing son and
- 40:15Speaker 1: puts flyers up when she can. She knows the chances
- 40:18Speaker 1: of him being found, let alone alive, are slim, but
- 40:22Speaker 1: still holds out hope that he will be found and
- 40:24Speaker 1: can return home.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean also like hopefully those posters and stuff
- 40:29Speaker 2: that she's putting up has him looking like you had
- 40:32Speaker 2: referred to it, more weathered or whatever. Right, I'm sure
- 40:36Speaker 2: that's like.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Putting up probably both actual photos of him and then
- 40:40Speaker 1: maybe pause at sketches or something.
- 40:42Speaker 2: They potentially actually look like.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Yeah, So for everyone's information out there, especially if you
- 40:47Speaker 1: are in the area. Lars Jokim Mittank was last seen
- 40:52Speaker 1: wearing a yellow T shirt, blue jean shorts, and white shoes.
- 40:56Speaker 1: He stands about one hundred and eighty centimeters or five
- 40:59Speaker 1: foot nine tall, and weighed around eighty five kilograms or
- 41:03Speaker 1: one hundred and eighty five to one hundred and eighty
- 41:05Speaker 1: seven pounds. He could be injured, disoriented, or have memory loss.
- 41:10Speaker 1: He has brown eyes and a scar on his left forearm.
- 41:14Speaker 1: If you have any information on Lars, you are urged
- 41:16Speaker 1: to call authorities in Germany at four nine one five
- 41:20Speaker 1: seven seven eight three zero zero eight nine six. You
- 41:24Speaker 1: can also send an email to findet underscore Lars at
- 41:28Speaker 1: web dot d that's fi n d e T underscore
- 41:33Speaker 1: l A r s at w e B dot d E.
- 41:38Speaker 1: And that is the story of Lars Midtank.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 41:44Speaker 1: So that being said, you need to watch the security footage.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Okay, I'm like, I don't know if I can like
- 41:53Speaker 2: process anything more this. I don't know. Oh my goodness,
- 41:57Speaker 2: this story is unbelievable to me, the fact that like
- 42:03Speaker 2: his poor mom, I can't I just can't stop thinking
- 42:06Speaker 2: about that. Could you imagine someone the story that someone
- 42:10Speaker 2: like your son or like loved one literally just runs
- 42:14Speaker 2: off and disappears and like.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Yeah, nothing, and it's it's so haunting if you watch
- 42:19Speaker 1: the actual sign.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I don't know if I even want to.
- 42:21Speaker 1: So the security the clip here is fifty five seconds long.
- 42:25Speaker 1: In between him entering and exiting the airport, it was
- 42:29Speaker 1: approximately forty five minutes that he was in the doctor's
- 42:32Speaker 1: office for So just heads up on that.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:37Speaker 1: So that shows him walking in with the yellow T
- 42:39Speaker 1: shirt and his two bags. Okay, so just watch and
- 42:44Speaker 1: we'll leave a link down below so you guys can
- 42:46Speaker 1: watch this video as well. If you haven't checked it
- 42:48Speaker 1: out just yet, we urge you too. It's like I said, haunting,
- 43:00Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that is a man running for his life.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Honestly, that one shot there didn't he didn't seem like
- 43:11Speaker 2: he looked all that panicked. Really, you don't think so,
- 43:21Speaker 2: I don't know, gosh, this is hard to tell. Some footage,
- 43:25Speaker 2: some footage it kind of seems like he does, but
- 43:27Speaker 2: then others it seems like he just is kind of
- 43:30Speaker 2: like going for a stroll like that. He's not really
- 43:32Speaker 2: in a super panic.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Okay, I disagree with you there. I got to take
- 43:35Speaker 1: a look again then, Okay, you see, because it looked
- 43:39Speaker 1: to me like, no, he's just bold.
- 43:40Speaker 2: It didn't seem like he was full out running like
- 43:42Speaker 2: as fast as he could or anything. He's not looking
- 43:44Speaker 2: behind him or anything.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Well, yeah, he ain't looking back, He's just gone.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like if I was afraid
- 43:51Speaker 2: for my life though, i'd be looking back. But maybe
- 43:54Speaker 2: that's just me.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Oh, I think what you're watching is Oh, I guess
- 43:58Speaker 1: once he exits the building, he looks a little more
- 44:00Speaker 1: casual for sure. Yeah, but inside the building he's definitely
- 44:06Speaker 1: he's sprinting through the building. But outside yet yeah, right,
- 44:09Speaker 1: it's more.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Of a Inside the building he did seem like he
- 44:12Speaker 2: was a bit more shook, but then outside it didn't
- 44:14Speaker 2: seem like it as much.
- 44:16Speaker 1: But then also, if he's not in a like, if
- 44:19Speaker 1: he wasn't panicked, why would he go out across the
- 44:21Speaker 1: highway into a field fence, into the woods.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Without any of his shit? I don't know that That
- 44:30Speaker 2: didn't help me in any way with thinking this story
- 44:34Speaker 2: is really fucked, Like I have no other words just
- 44:40Speaker 2: to describe this. Wow, I would love, love love for
- 44:44Speaker 2: him to be found.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Oh definitely. Yeah. And the internet has gone over every
- 44:52Speaker 1: frame of that footage, every ounce of his story, you
- 44:55Speaker 1: name it. He is, as I mentioned, he's the most
- 44:59Speaker 1: famous missing person.
- 45:01Speaker 2: So do you actually think that his face and his
- 45:04Speaker 2: name and everything is really all that. Like it's a
- 45:10Speaker 2: big like most people are aware of it.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Most people are aware of the man who went missing
- 45:16Speaker 1: and ran from the airport. Most people know that his
- 45:20Speaker 1: name or his story appearance, but like they know the clip.
- 45:25Speaker 1: They know that, but maybe, like Alisa Lamb, her name
- 45:29Speaker 1: and stories a little more prevalent. I think, Yeah, but
- 45:32Speaker 1: that clip is easily the most famous as far as
- 45:37Speaker 1: missing people go.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, but then how many people I mean,
- 45:41Speaker 2: if they were walking past this person on the street
- 45:44Speaker 2: or seeing them in person, would they be able to
- 45:48Speaker 2: tell or would it clue in their brain that, oh,
- 45:51Speaker 2: my gosh, this could be him.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think it has to be
- 45:55Speaker 1: someone who's actively looking at the photos, actively searching or researching. Yeah,
- 46:03Speaker 1: I bet you if I in a week time walk back, Actually,
- 46:06Speaker 1: I bet you tomorrow, if I walked by a weathered
- 46:10Speaker 1: yeah Mars, I probably wouldn't recognize him.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 46:13Speaker 1: And I spent the last like two days researching this case.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Yikes, So it almost just seems like it's just this
- 46:20Speaker 2: this oh, this haunting feeling of just like like feeling
- 46:25Speaker 2: so helpless for him.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Yeah, really, yeah, that's exactly it help us for him
- 46:31Speaker 1: and help us for his family.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Because technically, okay, technically, say he did survive and that
- 46:37Speaker 2: was him who the truck driver had picked up, right, Yeah,
- 46:41Speaker 2: But then at this point something else has happened or something,
- 46:45Speaker 2: or he's passed away and like no, like his body
- 46:49Speaker 2: would not have been identified. Correct, Oh my god. Okay, yeah,
- 46:55Speaker 2: this is just too much.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Unless someone had the know about to search to cross
- 47:01Speaker 1: reference maybe his dental records and missing persons reports and
- 47:04Speaker 1: stuff like that, yeah, which I do hope would occur.
- 47:07Speaker 2: But sometimes hopefully, hopefully, I don't know. Shit like that
- 47:12Speaker 2: just naturally occurs, though, when they have an an identified body.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Hard to say. I think it's going to depend on
- 47:19Speaker 1: the situation, because, unfortunately, I think if it becomes if
- 47:24Speaker 1: we're talking homeless population, I think the likelihood of them
- 47:28Speaker 1: cross referencing is probably lessened. And that's very sad to say.
- 47:32Speaker 1: But if they just come across just hey, a random
- 47:34Speaker 1: dead person that doesn't seem homeless or anything, then maybe
- 47:39Speaker 1: maybe so wow.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Wow, this story is something else. Oh my goodness, Oh
- 47:46Speaker 2: my goodness.
- 47:47Speaker 1: You were all kinds of just wrapped up in your head, right,
- 47:49Speaker 1: now I really am.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm literally about to eat snacks right now because
- 47:53Speaker 2: I think I'm about to stress eat. But it's like,
- 47:54Speaker 2: can I eat snacks while we're talking?
- 47:56Speaker 1: So my goodness, your eyes are just darting back and
- 48:01Speaker 1: forth like you're they are.
- 48:03Speaker 2: This one is very This is kind of probably one
- 48:06Speaker 2: of the most disturbing ones that I have listened to,
- 48:09Speaker 2: really because I kind of have a bit of OCD.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Right, yes, we would know that.
- 48:16Speaker 2: I don't know if any everyone on here would know that.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I can confirm that.
- 48:20Speaker 2: It's like I could not fucking imagine that being someone
- 48:25Speaker 2: I knew, and and this this is just this like
- 48:30Speaker 2: I just don't think that I could go on living
- 48:32Speaker 2: my life like not having a clue.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Well, and I think that's why he is the most
- 48:38Speaker 1: famous missing person, because the idea of him running from
- 48:42Speaker 1: the fucking airport and just gone gone is so baffling
- 48:48Speaker 1: and just so strange and just awe struck. Yeah that's
- 48:53Speaker 1: even a word, but jaw dropping, I guess I think
- 48:56Speaker 1: that is a word.
- 48:57Speaker 2: I think. Yeah, holy moly, Okay.
- 49:00Speaker 1: So yeah, that's the story of Lars Mittank.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Huh.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah, Nicole is gonna be paralyzed in thought for the
- 49:10Speaker 1: rest of the night. So this is gonna be funny.
- 49:12Speaker 2: I don't know if it is. I mean I could
- 49:15Speaker 2: see some like Internet sluice just spending some serious time
- 49:18Speaker 2: on this. He people have, Yeah, because I would be
- 49:21Speaker 2: so freaking pumped if like he was found like that
- 49:26Speaker 2: would and like then was able to kind of like
- 49:28Speaker 2: get the help or whatever that he needed if he
- 49:30Speaker 2: had like memory loss or whatever like that would just
- 49:33Speaker 2: be a freaking miracle and so amazing.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yep, you bet.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Youah, Okay, well there you go.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Well, hopefully you guys are not as distraught as Nicole
