- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. Now, if you've ever been on the
- 0:42receiving end of reputation damage or malicious gossip, you
- 0:48know, you know how destructive it can be.
- 0:51It's awful. People can say something about
- 0:54you. It can damage other people's
- 0:56perceptions or relationship with you, and you don't even really
- 1:00know that it's happened. There might just be a sense that
- 1:03something was said and you notice that something's changed
- 1:07but don't really know why something has changed.
- 1:10Now, this hypnosis session is all about that because I was
- 1:13working with a client where their reputation damage happened
- 1:18with inside an organization. They had this new opportunity.
- 1:23They took that job and very soon the relationship with the person
- 1:27that hired them soured and they called this a poisoned well,
- 1:31that someone poisoned the well. And what they meant is, is that
- 1:35the reputation damage soured that relationship with the
- 1:38person that in their particular role, needed to be a certain way
- 1:43because of the politics involved.
- 1:45Their career progression was inextricably linked to the
- 1:48direct input of the person that hired them originally.
- 1:53Now this hypnosis session does 2 key things.
- 1:56One, it's about seeing if they can mend or improve the
- 2:01relationship by adding value and reconnecting with things from
- 2:06the past, but secondly, feeling that.
- 2:09If. This relationship within the
- 2:11workplace couldn't ever get to that level.
- 2:14Why Stein stay in a place where they're not going to be
- 2:17appreciated and that their career is going to be limited.
- 2:21So it has this element of freeing themselves from this
- 2:24double bind of something isn't working, but they have to stay
- 2:28there to feeling liberated that actually they are capable and
- 2:32they are value and they want to improve that workplace
- 2:36relationship and let's say unpoisoned the well.
- 2:39But if they can't, they accept it and they move on and they
- 2:41find a different career, a different job in a different
- 2:44organization because that's the bit that can make it feel that
- 2:50very, let's say, disempowering. It's called learned helplessness
- 2:54and psychology where you feel like you've got no options and
- 2:57you know what you have to do is to continue doing doing what
- 3:00you're doing even though it's not getting you the results that
- 3:02you want. So if you can relate to this
- 3:05idea of feeling that your reputation has been tarnished,
- 3:08you want to feel empowered, liberated, or at least that
- 3:11you've got other options so you're not dependent on where
- 3:14you are, you might get some value from this session.
- 3:17Now. It was created for a client that
- 3:20was in a particular type of organization.
- 3:23Therefore some of the suggestions might be relevant
- 3:26for them. This was, you know, kind of meet
- 3:28ups in conferences, drinks on the beach and things like that.
- 3:32That might not be your specific situation, so ignore any
- 3:36suggestions that don't quite fit with you.
- 3:38Hone into the ones that are. And if you do want a bespoke
- 3:41session built entirely around your circumstances and
- 3:45situations, there will be a link in the show notes where you can
- 3:48explore how to do that or to free consultation.
- 3:51Call with me. For now, though, find a quiet,
- 3:54comfortable place where you won't be distracted.
- 3:56Or disturbed. Relax.
- 3:58And enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:26you breathe in, breathe in that slow, long breath of relaxation.
- 4:38And as you exhale, give permission to release any
- 4:45feelings of stress, worry, tension.
- 4:49Just allow it to feel like it's leaving your body slowly,
- 4:54surely, incrementally in that outward breath.
- 5:02And as you breathe in, focus on your eyelids.
- 5:07Just imagine tiny tendons and muscles starting to relax,
- 5:16almost like your eyelids getting heavier and heavier, and feel
- 5:21that relaxation spread up into your eyebrows and then into your
- 5:26forehead as you start to recall facial expressions like concern
- 5:35or surprise, and just allow those tiny muscles in your
- 5:39forehead to release and to relax.
- 5:43That's it. Imagine your jaw loosening, neck
- 5:51and shoulders letting go of any echoes of tension, and notice
- 6:03how you're breathing deeper down into your diaphragm, those belly
- 6:09breaths rather than the chest breaths.
- 6:13And what's fascinating is that the deeper you breathe, the more
- 6:19relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel
- 6:26the deeper you breathe. Each breath takes you deeper and
- 6:34deeper, relaxed. And as your body relaxes, your
- 6:40imagination awakens. I want you to imagine an old a
- 6:50library, and in that library is a globe on a brass axis.
- 7:02And I wonder if you could imagine spinning that globe
- 7:06around, seeing all of those countries that you've lived in
- 7:10or visited in the world, and just slow down that globe there
- 7:18over the Caribbean. I want you to look at a
- 7:23particular island. And as you focus on that island,
- 7:28almost feel like your perspective is no longer looking
- 7:32at a globe, but being in the sky above the island, floating down
- 7:39at sunset. I want you to imagine what it
- 7:45would feel like be an invisible detective.
- 7:52No one can see you, but you can see and hear everything.
- 8:00And I want you to imagine floating down onto a beach in
- 8:04Barbados on an evening on a particular date when you and
- 8:12your past were there, having an in depth conversation may be
- 8:18shared over Scotch whiskey there on the beach and feel that you
- 8:28are that invisible detective looking for clues.
- 8:36Clues to the type of relationship where words flow.
- 8:44Ideas almost telepathically linked, like you're on the same
- 8:50page, the same frequency, and embrace that role of being an
- 8:58invisible detective to look for clues.
- 9:05Clues as to what the recipe for that relationship is.
- 9:13Notice how you're breathing in a particular way.
- 9:18Notice your muscle tension. Do you look relaxed, calm, at
- 9:25peace? Notice your facial expressions,
- 9:30your body language? Just get a sense that that
- 9:37version of you feels safe, feels comfortable, feels that your
- 9:44presence is wanted. But also notice the facial
- 9:52expressions and the tonality of the person you're talking with.
- 9:57Are they holding eye contact? Are they nodding their head?
- 10:07Are they smiling? Is their posture open and maybe
- 10:14they're standing or sitting? But all of these things tell you
- 10:22a form of calibration. I want you to get a feeling of
- 10:30what that would be like to step into that version of you and now
- 10:37play detective on the inside. Maybe there's an absence of
- 10:46overthinking, an absence of words like can I say this?
- 10:53If I say this, how will it be interpreted?
- 10:56And more. It feels safe and open to
- 11:02communicate, to allow the words to flow.
- 11:09Notice how you breathe and breathe that way now.
- 11:16Notice your facial expressions, how relax they feel and just be
- 11:22that way now. I want you to feel that all of
- 11:30the normal pathways that were activated back then are
- 11:35awakening and activating now. And sometimes, sometimes people
- 11:45change unconsciously. I want you to think back to a
- 11:51memory where you might have been cold or distant, caught up in
- 11:58your own world, your own problems, and you met with
- 12:02someone and there responds to you, changed you.
- 12:13Maybe they greeted you with a hug rather than a handshake.
- 12:18Maybe they were smiling when they were talking and you found
- 12:22yourself smiling. Maybe the rhythm and tonality of
- 12:27their voice was full of passion, excitement, enthusiasm, and you
- 12:33found that you started talking that way too.
- 12:39And if that's been possible for you, it's also possible that you
- 12:44can be that person to someone else that when you talk that
- 12:53way, you used to, they respond as they used to.
- 13:02I want you to imagine floating up out of that memory, observing
- 13:08yourself at a different time where there was regular
- 13:12communication through chat, maybe WhatsApp, maybe something
- 13:15else. Notice the language used, the
- 13:21frequency, and notice how different that is the sending a
- 13:30formal document that then gets ignored.
- 13:35In one case things flow and in the other they become stagnant.
- 13:47I want you to imagine seeing yourself, perhaps in a meal,
- 13:53discussing ideas and strategies, and notice.
- 14:00Notice the dynamic, the proximity.
- 14:05Step into that version of you and again awaken all of those
- 14:08feelings, thoughts and ideas, giving you a sense that this
- 14:19this has been possible. Which means the variable is not
- 14:23with you, unless somehow you've changed subtly to create a self
- 14:31fulfilling prophecy that works against you.
- 14:39I want you to imagine it's the next day there on that island of
- 14:45Bermuda, and I want you to imagine finding perhaps an old
- 14:51plantation or an old farm, and just imagine seeing one of those
- 15:00old stone wells. And I want you to get a sense a
- 15:10well works if the water is filtered, if it's used
- 15:15regularly. There are two things that can
- 15:20happen to that well, to change something that was good and make
- 15:26it something unusable. I want you to imagine seeing
- 15:36someone poison the whale, not with chemicals, but with words.
- 15:46And I want you to think what words would have needed to have
- 15:51been said to poison that whale. And if poison is the problem,
- 16:02for every poison there is an antidote.
- 16:07And I want you to imagine, based on those words, what would be
- 16:14the antidote to make that unusable well become usable once
- 16:23more. And you don't have to know them
- 16:27now. Consider it an open loop, a
- 16:33project for your unconscious, a quest.
- 16:38And don't be surprised if the antidote is revealed to you in a
- 16:45moment of epiphany, a Eureka moment.
- 16:50The words just pop into your head.
- 16:54That could or will be the antidote to the poisoned whale.
- 17:04But the second way that the whale becomes unusable is not
- 17:11through poison, it's through stagnation.
- 17:19If the water in the well is not regularly used, if it becomes
- 17:26stagnant, what wants was clean water becomes infected, flies
- 17:38lay their eggs, bacteria starts to grow.
- 17:46An antidote won't help that well.
- 17:50What would be required is to change the water.
- 17:58And I want you to imagine, imagine a point in the future
- 18:07seeing a version of you create a catalyst to change the water.
- 18:16Maybe that is a meeting, a voice message, an e-mail, something
- 18:27that communicates that things in their current form aren't either
- 18:41matching expectations or making it worthwhile.
- 18:50And maybe that message or e-mail communicates that there is a
- 18:58reluctance to walk away from something that could be
- 19:01incredible, but a pragmatic acceptance that if it can't get
- 19:09back to a level where words can flow, ideas can be shared
- 19:17safely, influence can be influential.
- 19:29And because time is precious, the best thing to do would be to
- 19:35move to an environment, an environment of impact, of
- 19:41influence, of strategy, of making a difference.
- 19:47And I want you to imagine perhaps three different ways
- 19:54that that message could be interpreted or responded to.
- 19:59Imagine the 1st is acceptance. If you don't want to be here,
- 20:06that's fine. In which case you know, and you
- 20:10save months, if not years. And the second response could be
- 20:17indifference, complete ignoring. Of valid words, concerns,
- 20:27thoughts, hopes and dreams in that message.
- 20:32And indifference is exactly the same as acceptance.
- 20:43You treat anything other than change as a reason to change.
- 20:52I want you to imagine a more optimistic response.
- 20:59I want you to imagine that that person gets that message, that
- 21:03e-mail, that those words and feels that their life, their
- 21:12role, would be worse off without your skills, your capabilities,
- 21:22your ideas and your influence. I want you to see an outcome
- 21:29where that becomes a catalyst to wipe the slate clean, the
- 21:38equivalent of replacing the water in the well.
- 21:45I want you to imagine that in the days, weeks and months that
- 21:49follow, that words get to flow again, Ideas get shared.
- 21:59I want you to see a similar dynamic in that future that you
- 22:06know for certainty existed in the past, with an empowering
- 22:12belief that if it can't get back to something like that, then you
- 22:21don't want it. No need to chase, no need to
- 22:26hope. A simple cause and effect.
- 22:34Either things change or you change.
- 22:39The status quo is no longer desirable for you if your
- 22:44unconscious mind feels that it's activated.
- 22:51A new awareness of a standard, a desire to see things improve,
- 22:57but a quiet acceptance that they may not.
- 23:02And that's fine too, Avoiding some cost fallacy of I've
- 23:10invested this much time, therefore I need to invest even
- 23:14more. If your unconscious mind is
- 23:17willing to walk away from anything that no longer serves
- 23:22you, let me know by nodding your head.
- 23:27And that is courage. That is integrity.
- 23:32That is self esteem and self-confidence and self
- 23:37respect. I want you to feel that
- 23:44sometimes there is a paradox. When something really needs to
- 23:51happen. It can be elusive.
- 23:55But when you've reconciled, then it doesn't matter what happens.
- 24:02You will be fine either way. Sometimes the universe conspires
- 24:08in your favor to give you the very thing that you were
- 24:15chasing. The moment you're willing to
- 24:18walk away. Imagine returning to that well,
- 24:25and perhaps it's a bucket on a rope.
- 24:29And just imagine, just imagine pulling up that pail of water on
- 24:37that rope and seeing the purest, cleanest water that you've ever
- 24:43seen. No poison and no stagnation in
- 24:47this well anymore. Imagine taking a sip and feeling
- 24:55that this is your future, clean. And with clarity, allow yourself
- 25:04to go all the way back down to that beach as the invisible
- 25:10detective and imagine yourself seeing you there, laughing,
- 25:16joking, communicating. But it's now in your future, and
- 25:23it's not dependent on who the person is.
- 25:28I want you to see that this represents an influential,
- 25:32impactful version of you in your future, irrespective of what
- 25:39anyone individual does. Feel yourself floating up into
- 25:44the sky and then imagine yourself in a old library
- 25:49spinning a globe, feeling that the world is indeed your oyster.
- 25:57It's now time to return to your present with a new sense of
- 26:01strategy, clarity, and a sense of pragmatic acceptance.
- 26:13You can want something to happen without needing it to happen,
- 26:18and you will act in accordance with your values, not be
- 26:22dependent on someone else's. So take a deep breath in through
- 26:28your nose and out through your nose.
- 26:32Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
- 26:34Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 26:39from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 26:45Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 26:52Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 26:55Wide awake. Wide awake.
