- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:45Hi, it's Adam here. And you're going to be listening
- 0:48to a hypnosis session all about patience.
- 0:51And if you've ever felt that certain people can trigger you,
- 0:56rub you up the wrong way, set you off or push your buttons,
- 1:00then you're going to benefit from this particular hypnosis
- 1:02session. And I was working with a client
- 1:05who was a very successful person, but they were going
- 1:08through an unamicable breakup and due to circumstances they
- 1:14were living in the same place as their ex and their ex.
- 1:19Would. Have to discuss certain things
- 1:20with them, but they would take that as an opportunity to
- 1:23trigger them in certain ways. And what this client wanted to
- 1:26feel is that they wanted to feel like even if they were trying to
- 1:31be provoked and buttons were trying to be pressed, they
- 1:35wouldn't take the bait. They wouldn't respond perhaps in
- 1:38the way that they had done previously.
- 1:41And there's lots. Of metaphor.
- 1:43Lots of direct. Suggestions In this hypnosis
- 1:45session, for example, this client felt that the Shaolin
- 1:50monks had this level of mental fortitude that nothing could
- 1:56disturb their inner peace. So we use this idea of the
- 1:59Shaolin monks. These are the monks that do
- 2:01these incredible physical feats and they tend to wear these kind
- 2:05of orange or bright yellow robes.
- 2:07So we use this as a as a resource state, a role model.
- 2:12There's also this idea of a force field.
- 2:15There's other things as well, like dialing down and creating
- 2:19perceived distance between them and the person trying to trigger
- 2:24them. And also an element of future
- 2:25pacing. So they can really get this idea
- 2:28that they can know for sure that it's almost like a game.
- 2:32That if they can listen to what's being said and not lose
- 2:36their call, then they win. And by framing it as a game and
- 2:41seeing the future version of this themself, handling it in
- 2:44that way, that then empowers them to make them feel that
- 2:48they're able to unleash that level of patience and mental
- 2:52fortitude. So if you can relate to this
- 2:54idea that certain people can rub you up the wrong way, I think
- 2:57you'll benefit from this. And I want you to imagine them
- 3:00in this hypnosis session trying to do that but not being
- 3:03successful because you've activated new resources.
- 3:07So. Think about that.
- 3:09If you like the stuff that I do, check out the description or the
- 3:12show notes. There's lots of free things that
- 3:15I'm giving away that you can just click and download those.
- 3:18And if you like the idea of working with me, then actually
- 3:21there will be a link in the description where you can book a
- 3:23free consultation call. We can have a chat on Zoom and
- 3:26you can see if I'm the right hypnotherapist to work.
- 3:28With you. For now, though, find a quiet,
- 3:31comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:33Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 4:35breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 4:41relaxation. And as you exhale, just allow
- 4:50your eyelids to feel heavier and more relaxed, and notice with
- 4:56your eyes closed how much easier it becomes.
- 5:02To focus. On the sound of my voice,
- 5:08breathing in, relaxation and exhaling.
- 5:15Any stress, any worries, any feelings of tension, That's it.
- 5:27I want you to use the power of your imagination to imagine an
- 5:35ancient temple high up in the mountains and imagine being
- 5:42surrounded by monks that are wearing bright orange.
- 6:12And I want you to see, see their expressions, that look of being
- 6:23centred, that unflappable, unfazable, calm.
- 6:37And I wonder if you could imagine that you've been
- 6:41training here in this temple for many years.
- 6:51I want you to get a sense of how it would feel to train your
- 6:57brain, your mind, and your emotions to be impenetrable to
- 7:07the game playing of anyone else. And of course, others may try
- 7:14and bait you, but that doesn't mean you have to take the bait.
- 7:23I want you to consider yourself the mouse that sees the cheese
- 7:29in the trap but knows there is a trap.
- 7:35That ability to see exactly what's happening and to choose
- 7:41how best to deal with that situation.
- 7:49And I want you to imagine being in that meditative pose,
- 7:56breathing how the Shaolin monks would breathe.
- 8:02And I want you to imagine breathing in pure calm, perhaps
- 8:10the fresh air from that mountainside near the temple,
- 8:19and just feeling. Feeling that in order for any
- 8:24skill to improve, it requires intention and practice.
- 8:36Because nobody goes to a gym and gets stronger by lifting very
- 8:42light weights. The heavier the weight, the
- 8:47stronger they become. And I want you to get a sense
- 8:52that you are in a uniquely fortunate position.
- 9:01You get to be tested by someone very adept and skilled, perhaps
- 9:10even a master, at provoking and triggering, encouraging people
- 9:19to lose their call to get to that breaking point.
- 9:29But what if this wasn't a problem, but an opportunity?
- 9:35Opportunity to have such resilience and mental fortitude
- 9:43that it becomes impossible for you to be triggered or provoked
- 9:51unless you decide your response or reaction is useful.
- 10:03Because if someone gets angry and they choose to show that
- 10:07rage, that's a response, not a triggered reaction.
- 10:16And I want you to imagine being there in the temple.
- 10:21Perhaps you can even imagine wearing those orange robes,
- 10:28breathing in calm, exhaling tension.
- 10:34And I want you to imagine a glowing force field around you.
- 10:42Think of the colour of that force field, and maybe it's just
- 10:49a barrier of energy. Or maybe it's something solid
- 10:55like bulletproof glass or thick perspex.
- 11:01Maybe it's a futuristic bubble like membrane.
- 11:08Or perhaps futuristic nanotechnology, The ability to
- 11:15create an instant barrier for some and yet it doesn't exist
- 11:20for others. You've seen those sunglasses,
- 11:26then are normal glasses, and then when the sun comes out,
- 11:30they instantly go dark. I want you to imagine that you
- 11:34have a force field that is only activated when you need it.
- 11:43I want you to picture that force field and then imagine being
- 11:47there, there in the temple, and imagine a specific person that
- 11:57in the past has got to you, has triggered you.
- 12:01And I want you to imagine they have an intention.
- 12:10Their intention is not to communicate or solve a problem,
- 12:15find common ground. It is simply to rattle you, to
- 12:23upset you, to make you lose your temper.
- 12:29And if that happens, they win and they will sleep with a smile
- 12:34on their face. But if you don't react in that
- 12:40way, you win. And over time, they are forced
- 12:46to change their approach, to be more respectful, to respect
- 12:53boundaries, because doing it their way no longer works for
- 12:58them. But I want you to imagine that
- 13:02person tenaciously, intently trying to provoke you.
- 13:13But I want you to breathe like a Shaolin monk.
- 13:17I want you to imagine that activated force field.
- 13:23And even if they're close, I want you to imagine that rather
- 13:29than seeing their proximity in metres or feet, I want you to
- 13:37imagine counting it in atoms. And when you imagine how many
- 13:44atoms are between you and they, perhaps it starts to feel like
- 13:51they're 1000 miles away. And when they feel like they're
- 13:56far away, and when you feel like you're protected by that force
- 14:01field, and when you feel you have that mental fortitude of
- 14:09the Shaolin monk, I want you to enjoy it like a game.
- 14:17The harder they try, the more resourceful you feel, knowing
- 14:23that you have all the options to just listen and not react, to
- 14:31make clear what you're willing to do and not willing to do to
- 14:39shift your attention away from their words to something else
- 14:44like music or something else. I want you to feel that before
- 14:52maybe it felt like they had the power to get to you, but now I
- 14:59want you to feel that you are safe, you are protected, you are
- 15:04resourceful, and it's almost like a game show.
- 15:10Imagine then, if you lose your call, they win a million and you
- 15:15lose a million. But if it never gets to that
- 15:19point, they lose a new win. And just start thinking about
- 15:26how you would need to think about the dynamics so that no
- 15:31matter what is said or shrieked or shouted or yelled, it never
- 15:38gets to that point. It's so far away from breaking
- 15:43point. If you can start to imagine
- 15:49those dynamics, let me know by nodding your head.
- 15:54So now let's imagine she's saying or doing the worst
- 15:59possible things to identify a malicious intention.
- 16:06There is deceit, lies, shrieking, and yet you are the
- 16:12calm in the storm, the eye of the hurricane.
- 16:18All the chaos is outside of you, outside of your force field.
- 16:25You are the calm in the storm. You can listen, even decode
- 16:33what's being said, and then deciding how to respond.
- 16:39I want you to get a sense then you can use past events where
- 16:49you did lose your call to mentally rehearse what you would
- 16:55do if this calm, centred, grounded version of you.
- 17:03The version of you that can observe the anger but choose not
- 17:08to participate. To know that you are dealing
- 17:12with someone extremely skilled, but you feel that you are also
- 17:18extremely skilled. Becoming a game of 40 chess
- 17:24moves and counter moves. But you will never get to that
- 17:30checkmate position where you lose your call.
- 17:34You have too many options. Really.
- 17:39Imagine them shrieking, but imagine the force field seems to
- 17:45turn the volume down on them. They're trying to do whatever
- 17:50they do. And then just imagine noticing
- 17:53something. Something in the present.
- 17:56How something looks, how something sounds, how something
- 18:00feels. Mindfulness, the force field.
- 18:08The mental fortitude of a Shaolin monk.
- 18:12The gamification. I want you to feel that any one
- 18:16of these things could make it so you don't get triggered.
- 18:23But what if you utilize many of them?
- 18:28And maybe there's even a part of you that feels like these
- 18:34attempts, rather than break you, build you that actually part of
- 18:43you welcomes the practice. A Shaolin monk can't do their
- 18:51impressive feats just by wanting to.
- 18:56They practice. They do difficult things again
- 19:00and again until those difficult things become easy.
- 19:06What if this is you training at altitude?
- 19:10What if this is your resilience and mental fortitude boot camp?
- 19:18The tallest, strongest trees have weathered the fiercest
- 19:21storms? What if at some point in the
- 19:26future, maybe five years from now, someone else tries to
- 19:32provoke you and you smile because of all that practice you
- 19:37had in your past? You are unflappable.
- 19:44You are immune to these triggers.
- 19:49What if that is the opportunity to build a set of counter skills
- 19:59that could become even more useful outside of this one
- 20:03person? I want you to see that look of
- 20:10defeat on their face when they finally give up, that whatever
- 20:13they try just isn't working with you.
- 20:17And then imagine going forwards in time, seeing yourself in your
- 20:22own home. And I want you to see that
- 20:26person waiting for the ideal opportunity.
- 20:31Maybe you've had a win, something successful.
- 20:35Maybe they see you smiling more and they're just waiting to rain
- 20:38on your parade. But I want you to see that
- 20:42future version of you breathing differently, moving differently,
- 20:50See yourself with a new level of internal strength, and imagine
- 20:56seeing you with a glowing force field that only appears when
- 21:01it's needed. I want you to see yourself as
- 21:06that calm, resilient individual, and I want you to see them try
- 21:16their hardest to trigger you, to upset you, to make you angry.
- 21:27And I want you to get a sense that the harder they are trying,
- 21:31the more that version of you becomes more resourceful, more
- 21:37patient, more mindful, more protected.
- 21:49I want you to get a sense then there is a toddler in everyone
- 21:59that just wants attention. If they can't get the kind of
- 22:01attention they want, they will get any attention, even if it
- 22:08means causing chaos, throwing tantrums, spreading lies,
- 22:15because otherwise it feels like they're invisible.
- 22:20But every time you react and respond, you're giving them the
- 22:25very intention and attention that they want.
- 22:31And every time you withhold that attention, you are rewarding
- 22:36them for communicating in a more respectful, useful, direct way.
- 22:47And if you can see that future version of you responding
- 22:52differently with more of the qualities that would help,
- 22:57irrespective of what they do, let me know by nodding your
- 23:02head. That's it.
- 23:10And then imagine stepping into that future version of you, this
- 23:14time of year from now, when all of this uncertainty is coming to
- 23:19an end. And I want you to tap into a
- 23:23feeling of gratitude. But were it not from this
- 23:29individual attempting to upset you, hurt you, harm you, you
- 23:36would never have that level of resilience, of fortitude, of
- 23:46inner strength than you would have done.
- 23:53As you breathe in and breathe out, find yourself back in that
- 23:59temple. And I want you to see the wisest
- 24:05of all of the monks, the Elder. And I want you to see a young,
- 24:12angry man approaching the Elder, hurling abuse and insults, lies
- 24:21about their character, all the most vile, worst things that
- 24:26could be said. And yet the Elder remains
- 24:31unshaken, unmoved. And when the younger, vile,
- 24:40toxic individual finally gives up with nothing more to say, the
- 24:47elder responds and asks. Ask that young man a question.
- 24:59If you were to give a gift to an individual and they do not
- 25:03accept the gift, to whom does the gift belong?
- 25:14The confused young man says. Well, if the gift is never
- 25:17accepted, it remains the property of the person that
- 25:21tried to give it. At which point the Elder
- 25:25explains, I have not accepted your insults, your lies, your
- 25:34attempts to assassinate my character.
- 25:40So to whom do they belong? I want you to get a sense that
- 25:49people can say whatever they want to say.
- 25:53Whether you accept them or not is your choice, and if you do
- 25:59not accept them, then they belong to whoever attempted to
- 26:05give them some to leave that temple.
- 26:11But take with it all of that sense of inner peace, that Zen
- 26:18feeling, then mental fortitude, that resilience, that
- 26:22unflappable rock solid mindset. And also float back with that
- 26:29force field and the ability to be mindful and set boundaries to
- 26:36respond rather than react. But also the idea that it's all
- 26:41just a game and you now will be even more tenacious to win that
- 26:49game. So float all the way back to the
- 26:53present. Take a deep breath in through
- 26:59your nose and out through your nose.
- 27:05Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 27:07That's it. Connect and calibrate into the
- 27:09here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 27:15you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 27:23456 more alert 7-8 open your eyes.
- 27:28Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
