Latest / Lisa & Russell / Barra - Hyrox : She Will Never Never Ever Live This Down
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: My industry is sport. Sometimes I'm embarrassed about being involved
- 0:05Speaker 1: and what actually happens and how serious people take stuff
- 0:10Speaker 1: and how important they think it is. You've got to
- 0:12Speaker 1: gain some perspective here, some wisdom. There was money in this,
- 0:17Speaker 1: wasn't there? 20 grand on the line or something? It
- 0:19Speaker 1: must have been big money to do this because this
- 0:22Speaker 1: poor woman, she will never, ever live this down. It
- 0:26Speaker 1: was telecast too. Have you heard of High Rocks? I
- 0:30Speaker 1: have now. Yeah, we have as of this week. It's
- 0:32Speaker 1: like an indoor event where it's sort of multiple challenges,
- 0:36Speaker 1: I suppose you'd say, and push-ups and chin-ups. It's like
- 0:38Speaker 1: a hardcore circuit at the gym sort of thing. Is
- 0:40Speaker 1: it like a tough mud, but without the mud? Yeah,
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's a bit like that. And I'm glad you mentioned mud,
- 0:46Speaker 1: because maybe that's the term we'll use going forward. So
- 0:49Speaker 1: it was the High Rocks Beijing Pro Women's Race. And
- 0:52Speaker 1: you're right, it's big money. And 22-year-old Australian girl, let's
- 0:56Speaker 1: call her Joanne. Because that's her name. Yeah. I'm not
- 1:01Speaker 1: saying a surname. It's hard to pronounce anyway. She pushed
- 1:04Speaker 1: through the pain and something else. And what happened was
- 1:08Speaker 1: she visibly soiled herself. Oh, no. We don't need sound effects. Oh, no.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Is that a sound effect? I hope that was a
- 1:19Speaker 1: sound effect. Ultimately, she did win. But in these events,
- 1:24Speaker 1: there's shared equipment like rowing machines and mats. Oh, my God.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And so people are rolling in, you know, like, and
- 1:33Speaker 1: I mean, this is not the first time this sort
- 1:35Speaker 1: of thing has happened. It's happened to me when you
- 1:37Speaker 1: just got to leave the ground. But the funny thing was,
- 1:40Speaker 1: why didn't High Rocks stop her and say, listen, you've
- 1:42Speaker 1: got to stop. You've got to go to the shower.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You know, like. Yeah. Get some wipes. And the reason
- 1:48Speaker 1: they didn't was because High Rocks has rules against spitting,
- 1:52Speaker 1: blowing your nose, dropping rubbish. You're not even allowed to
- 1:55Speaker 1: splash water on yourself, apparently, but there's no rule covering
- 1:59Speaker 1: SH1 too. But explosive diarrhea is okay. That's right. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: think it's just not in the rules because it never
- 2:07Speaker 1: came up as a possibility that someone would do that
- 2:11Speaker 1: and carry on. There's 20 grand in it. That's not
- 2:15Speaker 1: enough for the indignity. Personally, I'd rather win that on
- 2:18Speaker 1: a scratchy, but, you know, there's 20 grand on the line.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It's a grey area or a brown area. I would
- 2:23Speaker 1: have gone home and not left the house. I would
- 2:26Speaker 1: have left the house for three years. I would go.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I'd move to another country now, the poor old Joanne. No,
- 2:33Speaker 1: the internet is everywhere. There's nowhere to go in the world. Oh, God.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's being replayed everywhere. So it's enormously confronting. So I'm
- 2:40Speaker 1: not sure... Yeah, I think obviously the lawyers are now
- 2:43Speaker 1: trying to write in the rules for that bit that
- 2:45Speaker 1: you said. So they didn't expect that to happen. Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And rule number seven, the obvious. Remember when it happened
- 2:52Speaker 1: to Deke in a marathon, a Commonwealth Games marathon? Deke.
- 2:56Speaker 1: He just kept splashing water back there. Oh, good. But
- 2:59Speaker 1: he was running a marathon. It happened halfway through. The
- 3:02Speaker 1: great Rob Deke is still in 1982. And he won.
- 3:05Speaker 1: He had a serious stomach problem. Well, so did this girl.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Got serious diarrhea. And he ended up still winning the race.
- 3:10Speaker 1: It's happened a few times, actually. There was a famous
- 3:13Speaker 1: World Cup incident, Gary Lineker, the same thing, playing for
- 3:16Speaker 1: England against Ireland. So she's not the first person to
- 3:21Speaker 1: do it, but she was the first person to keep going. Well,
- 3:24Speaker 1: other competitors were flabbergasted, and the commentators, that she wasn't stopped.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And they said, oh, we've sterilised the area after, well,
- 3:35Speaker 1: a bit late. And I would be, yeah. It's been
- 3:39Speaker 1: a big week for sporting equipment, hasn't it, really? Because
- 3:43Speaker 1: they sterilized the rowing machine. You know where I'm going
- 3:45Speaker 1: with that? No, there's more? Can I mention Sydney Sweeney? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The whole world is at the moment. Sydney Sweeney does anything,
- 3:57Speaker 1: and the internet blows up. Strategically placed sporting equipment. So, yeah,
- 4:02Speaker 1: big week for sporting equipment. Something to ponder as you
- 4:05Speaker 1: go to... It's not really that important, Jo. I'm not
- 4:09Speaker 1: going to ponder it for long. Thank you. All right.
