- speaker-0: I said it out loud. No one was in the house. I mean, the kids I think were running around somewhere else. And I said, I am a good mom. And I started weeping. And there's just something that the Lord broke in me because he knew the intention of my heart was to be a good mom. speaker-1: To talk kind of about mom guilt, right? So I'm sure there's dad guilt too, but mom guilt is this word that we throw around. But sometimes it goes so much deeper than guilt and it's really shame, especially when we realize that we are repeating these patterns, like you and I were just talking about. So what do you say to encourage that mom that is realizing that, man, why do I keep doing this? speaker-0: First of all, say that if you're worried about it, that's a really good sign. And ⁓ because it means that you care and you you want to be a good mom. And one of the things the Lord did to me that was super practical that anyone can do today is one time he told me, I want you to say I am a good mother out loud. And I remember where I was, I was sitting on a couch and I remember looking at the clock. It was like 11 30 in the morning. And I looked at the clock and I was like, this is dumb. This is just me thinking that I should say this. This is not the Lord. Blah, blah, blah. You know how we do when we're so spiritual. And so I was like, Well, what if it is the Lord? So I said it out loud. No one was in the house. I mean, the kids I think were running around somewhere else. And I said, I am a good mom or I am a good mother. And I started weeping. And there's just something that the Lord broke in me because he knew the intention of my heart was to be a good mom. Do I have failures as a mom? Yes. Do I apologize to my kids? Even now I do. Yes. But I think it may be helpful for people to establish the fact that their heart is longing to be a good mom and they may just need to say it out loud. speaker-1: ⁓ I love that. I think that is very powerful to do because we do, we stay stuck. It's like I think somebody was saying, like, you know, what keeps you up at night? Like what's that nagging, that lie that's keeping you up at night? Maybe been in your book. But I'm like just the last few days somebody was saying that and I I was just like, you know, that that really is the heart of it. Like, did I do a good job? Am I hurting my like I don't want to send my kids to the counselor? You know, like those types of thoughts. Like, what? What am I doing? So that is so good because at the heart of it, you know, the Lord sees so much more in us than we see in ourselves. And we constant we are our worst crit. speaker-2: This episode of Homeschool Insights is brought to you by Liberty HealthShare.
